We purchased a Thermador 48" range less than seven years ago, and it has been nothing but problems from day one. In that time, we’ve had to service the unit no fewer than five times—for burners, doors, the gasket, and even the motherboard. Even when parts were replaced, they only worked for a short while before failing again. Now the oven is completely non-functional. It doesn’t hold temperature, shuts off mid-use, and has ruined countless meals. The burners are unreliable, flames often don’t light, and the igniters randomly click even when the oven isn’t on. To make matters worse, several attempts to reach out to Thermador’s customer service team have gone completely unanswered. What kind of “premium” brand ignores its customers?

We chose Thermador believing we were paying for quality, but what we’ve received is an unreliable lemon with zero support. Requests for a replacement have been denied, and now even basic communication is nonexistent. As the owner of a construction company for over 18 years, I’ve recommended Thermador to many high-end clients—but after this experience, I can no longer recommend the brand. For the price and reputation, the quality and service have been extremely disappointing.

These ovens just stopped working in May 2025. They were installed in March 2023. I called the store that I bought them from and they said, "Did you take the extended warranty." I said, "I have never had any problems with double ovens. Didn’t think I needed it." The head of the appliance department said unfortunately they don’t make things like they used to. Unbelievable, poor excuse. So they gave me a guy's phone number that they use to fix them, said that I would have to pay, of course.

He didn’t know how to fix them, he charged me $950.00 to replace the board and $230.00 trip fee. Guaranteed this would work, nope didn’t work... Then he said he would order a control panel for $411.27 and guess what, you guessed it, didn’t work, I refused to pay him. So he said that he was going to order another one, never did.

I called the store again and told them that they sent me someone that didn’t know what he was doing. They then gave me another number of a company that actually works on Thermador appliances. They have been here at least 3 times now, nothing works yet. But they finally admitted that this has been a problem and I was not the only one. They are going to bring some other boards and a control panel that are in sync and reprogram them. They said if I could get the first guy to bring back the original set, that would save me money. Anyway, that’s my story.

I have had the 48 range Pro series, double oven w griddle. I have owned it for 4 years. A tech has been in my home every year since. Each time they come it’s 200 plus parts. This time they had to replace all the board for a total of 1,809. In my humble opinion this is an overpriced, inferior product that just looks nice. I should have bought a wolf and spent the extra money! Do not buy a Thermador range. It’s not worth it!!!!

We purchased a Thermador Masterpiece Double oven with right-handle swing door in February 2025. Model MED302LWS. It has performed flawlessly. Has performed 2 software updates. The swing doors are the reason we picked this particular model. Effortless to access both ovens without leaning over a hot wind down door like our old 27-year-old Dacor. We like the display; it is easy and intuitive to use. Sleek and modern looking without knobs. The performance has been spot on and the temps match a separate thermometer. Smooth, easy to adjust roller brackets. 3 per oven, 6 total for baking multiple sheets. We use this almost every day as we make our own bread and scratch prepare everything else.

When heated up the oven does energize a cooling fan that exhausts the width of the oven just below the control panel. You can hear it but it is soft and unobtrusive. Frankly, we forget it is on especially if you are steps out of the kitchen. The lighting is bright and makes it easy to see both ovens. You cannot illuminate one oven at a time; both come on. Doors are solid and make a firm closure. Nice to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit easily.

We bought a Thermador 48" range with our home in 2017. At the time, it cost us about $15000 and the same model today is closer to $20000. You would think that it is high quality, something the kids will fight over, once we are gone. Nope. It failed. Steam oven would shut down after sitting at temperature for a few minutes. We called Thermador and they told me to just call a technician to come out because there was nothing they could help me with over the phone. So I did... a local appliance repair shop that advertised they worked on this brand.

After replacing three boards and a $1400 bill they told me there was nothing more they could do. THey turned it over to Thermador who sent their own technician out. He quickly found the main board was burned (internal board component failures). Another $1200 for that board and its replacement. When that showed up, he told me that the software was corrupted because the other repair company did something wrong. I called his bluff and told him I thought there was a compatibility issue between the new board he wanted to install and the other two additional boards he wanted to replace -- his bill was going from $1200 to $2100. He pulled out the main board and promised to bring it back when he returned with the other two boards. When he did, the whole stove quit working consistently.

Okay fast forward to now. He returned with the three boards (told us that the two additional boards were hard to get - so he bought them from a "mom and pop" store). He wanted me to sign an agreement that as they continued to shot gun repair our stove that we would pay for all labor and parts as they went.... and if they got to the point where there were obsolete parts and they could not go any further, we were stuck with all of the costs to that point and a dead stove.

The repair tech told me that he himself would not sign such an agreement.... And I did not sign it. He took his boards and left. I ended up only paying just under $400 for his labor - did not pay for any of the boards that were not installed. The stove is dead, shut off at the electrical panel since it has internal malfunctions. Call today from Bosch/Thermador person who informed us they could not do anything more for us and were closing our case. Basically, we are out of luck and now have a $15000 boat anchor that would cost us $20000 to replace if we bought the same model. We decided to not throw good money after bad and are ordering a replacement from one of their competitors.

Oh, all the time this was going on Thermador kept asking us for proof of ownership. I sent them copies of various documents from our closing statements, copies of our appliance selections when the home was built, certificate of occupancy. It was never enough. It sounded like they would not have been willing to do anything for us (nothing was ever promised).

I’ve also got a 6-burner professional cook top with problems! What a waste of my money. Shame on Thermador. No wonder there’s so many complaints. They’ll be out of business soon. Stay away!!! I recently purchased a Thermador gas range, hoping to enjoy high-end performance and quality in my kitchen. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. I expected a lot from a premium appliance, but it seems that the reliability just wasn't there. Indeed, after four years I had to replace the control board, the igniter and four of the burners! It was frustrating, especially considering the investment that was made. I had imagined this stove would last much longer and maintain its performance, but that hasn’t been the case. If you’re considering a Thermador, I suggest weighing your options carefully. For the price you pay, you should expect durability and superior quality, and sadly, that’s not what I received. I hope my experience helps guide others in their decision-making process.

I replaced an older GE oven/range with this Thermador that barely heats water. It’s not altitude (the old GE stove top worked fine) It’s BTUs. The service people tried to help out but no luck. And the stars on top of the burners are so very difficult to clean around after removing them. Not spending a bit more on the Wolfe product for the Idaho cabin was a mistake. The requested paperwork was sent in by the store who sold me the oven and customer service told me they had everything and the claim had been sent up for an exchange review and they would get back to me in 2 days.

I did not hear from them and when I called customer service claimed they had not received any paperwork so nothing had been done on my claim. After calls from the store that had sent in the paperwork customer service found the paperwork and sent the claim for approval. Several days later they called and said my unit was out of warranty and they would not do anything for me. I could understand if a repair was required out of warranty they would not cover it but having a supposed top of the line very expensive oven not being able to be repaired after 2 1/2 years is not standing behind your product.

I would give 0 star if I could. This Thermador microwave is an absolute disaster. After only 3 years, it completely broke down. It took 5 visits from a technician over an agonizing 8 months just to fix a fuse, which cost me $500. Then, just 3 months later, the electronic panel failed, and now I’m staring at an outrageous $1,200 repair bill. That’s $1,800 to fix a microwave that's barely out of warranty!

To make matters worse, this microwave is part of a microwave-oven combo, so now I can’t even use the oven because the microwave keeps turning itself on and off, which is not only frustrating but a potential safety hazard! For a so-called premium brand, this is beyond unacceptable. I expected quality, not a constant source of stress and expenses. I would never recommend Thermador to anyone. In late September, the oven stopped working. On October 4, 2023, we filed a claim under our warranty and Bosch/Thermador contacted a local appliance company that came to our condo and diagnosed that the control and display boards both needed to be replaced.

It's now April 14, and we're still waiting for the parts and have no idea when they'll be available. We have contacted the local appliance company 11 times and Thermador three times including an e-mail that no one ever answered. The local appliance company has been helpful but they are as frustrated as are we. We are still without the use of our oven and Bosch/Thermador simply refuses to communicate - at all. I have filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General for the fraudulent sale of a warranty that has not been honored. Bottom line - do not buy a Bosch/Thermador appliance. The appliances are extremely expensive and look nice - but the company that makes them simply will not stand behind its products.

I couldn't be more disappointed with this range! The oven bakes unevenly no matter what we attempt. The flames on the range leave burn marks on the sides of even our largest pot, wasting so much heat around the edges instead of heating the bottom of the pot. There's really no "low" temp - everything is at a rolling boil on low, and XLO is only so-so (but makes a really loud noise when it relights). It's very difficult to tell the difference between medium, medium high, medium low on the burners - the flame basically doesn't move for a while, then for a few millimeters turning the dial the flame gets bigger, and then you're at HIGH. A tech told us it's nearly impossible to recalibrate as well, which will need to be done when one of the many circuit boards has a problem... Overall I feel like this range was designed to look beautiful, but it's not efficient for families nor does it bake well.

Dear Reader: I bought a new Thermador 5 burner gas range for a renovation that was completed in March of 2023. I started complaining almost immediately as I found the oven temp would take 30-40 min to get to a desired 450 temperature for cooking bread. But would not hold the high heat. The best I would get would be 350. On Thanksgiving of the same year, the oven, including 3 of the burners were suddently dead. I spent countless hours with different technicians trying to find out and repair the problem. That never happened and finally Thermador decided that the range was irrepairable. Now, you would think that Thermador would step in right away and right this. Nope! I had to wait another week for them to give the OK to this file at which time they contacted the company I bought the range from, not me and that turned out to be another horror show. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

All contact with the customer is done through a 3rd party (repair and sales). No receipts and no correspondence. I Tried to talk directly with Thermador and although they would assure me that they would open a file on my complaints, time and time again, they would lose my file. If you do get into any trouble with Thermador, call them daily. In the end it was the only way I could keep them on track.

Also, hold the company and the salesman that you bought the appliance from, accountable. A different company but they should be there for you if there are problems. Unfortunately, I found my local appliance sales company's customer service proved to be just as poor. It was just a few weeks before Xmas that this all came to an end. Thermador credited my purchase back to the appliance company I bought it from. I purchased a different gas range that was not a Thermador and 2 months from when this all started, it came to an end. I ran to the oven to discover the brownies were all on fire as the broiler had turned on during the bake cycle. Luckily I was able to catch it in time and pull the burning brownies out of the oven and throw them out the kitchen back door. If I would have left instead of staying close to the oven, a very serious fire would have developed in the oven. So even though the oven was set to the "bake" setting, the broiler came on randomly during the bake cycle. I tried it again a couple of days later and the same thing happened again.

That was just the start of the nightmare. My sales rep called it in to Thermador and I was told I would need to wait a month or so before the technicians could get out to fix it. I stupidly relied on that statement and called today as it had been a month and I hadn't heard anything. Apparently Thermador had sent out a work order to a company that does not actually service my area and never followed through so now Thanksgiving it approaching, and I have no oven, and no one can tell me when they can get someone here to even look at it. I believe Thermador skimped on quality to include gimmicky items such as a rotisserie and over reliance on an App called Home Connect. Some temperatures commonly called for in recipes are not available without the use of the App. As a skilled cook I found temperature management to be poorly thought out in regard to the software that controls it.

Overall the oven did not have quality feel. For instance, the control knobs have a lot of play in them as you advance from one function to another and the digital display panel was slightly askew, not something that you would expect in a high-end appliance. However, my main problem was that the oven never function properly. It had software issues that caused it to shut down completely, lock up control functions, or override operations that I chose with previous operations. It seemed that memory functions weren’t clearing or were in conflict with other instructions.

My appliance store service department could not resolve the problems and ultimately declared the oven to be unrepairable. It was returned to Thermador. The return process was challenging. Their customer service department is terrible. At times you will get a busy message for hours on end and it seems that everyone you talk to assigns a case number that is not shared with others. You’re always starting over. In any case, the oven was ultimately returned for dealer credit, which I used for another purchase. I was relieved that I did not get stuck with this thing. This would be a very good product if more thought was given to functionality and a lot more attention paid to overall quality. Having said that, I think it’s important to state that this is one individual’s experience with one oven.
