I purchased a Thermador Gas Range, Model PRG3-4WH this July. It was installed 8/29/2023. 5 weeks later, my house filled with smoke while a batch of brownies was baking in the oven. I ran to the oven to discover the brownies were all on fire as the broiler had turned on during the bake cycle. Luckily I was able to catch it in time and pull the burning brownies out of the oven and throw them out the kitchen back door. If I would have left instead of staying close to the oven, a very serious fire would have developed in the oven. So even though the oven was set to the "bake" setting, the broiler came on randomly during the bake cycle. I tried it again a couple of days later and the same thing happened again.

That was just the start of the nightmare. My sales rep called it in to Thermador and I was told I would need to wait a month or so before the technicians could get out to fix it. I stupidly relied on that statement and called today as it had been a month and I hadn't heard anything. Apparently Thermador had sent out a work order to a company that does not actually service my area and never followed through so now Thanksgiving it approaching, and I have no oven, and no one can tell me when they can get someone here to even look at it. God only knows how long it will take to fix it, if they even can. I should have read these reviews before I bought the thing. I will never buy Thermador again. Horrid quality, horrid service, makes for a very negative customer experience. This has just been a nightmare.

I believe Thermador skimped on quality to include gimmicky items such as a rotisserie and over reliance on an App called Home Connect. Some temperatures commonly called for in recipes are not available without the use of the App. As a skilled cook I found temperature management to be poorly thought out in regard to the software that controls it.

Overall the oven did not have quality feel. For instance, the control knobs have a lot of play in them as you advance from one function to another and the digital display panel was slightly askew, not something that you would expect in a high-end appliance. However, my main problem was that the oven never function properly. It had software issues that caused it to shut down completely, lock up control functions, or override operations that I chose with previous operations. It seemed that memory functions weren’t clearing or were in conflict with other instructions.

My appliance store service department could not resolve the problems and ultimately declared the oven to be unrepairable. It was returned to Thermador. The return process was challenging. Their customer service department is terrible. At times you will get a busy message for hours on end and it seems that everyone you talk to assigns a case number that is not shared with others. You’re always starting over. In any case, the oven was ultimately returned for dealer credit, which I used for another purchase. I was relieved that I did not get stuck with this thing. This would be a very good product if more thought was given to functionality and a lot more attention paid to overall quality. Having said that, I think it’s important to state that this is one individual’s experience with one oven.

We purchased a double steam oven from Thermadore in 2020. Have had nothing but problems with the control panel from day 1. I’ve had about 6 service calls. They have replaced everything they can in the control panel. Issues still pop up. Clock time freezes, lights won’t turn off, oven resets when I press the timer. Random weird issues that can’t always be replicated. Seems like the main computer is faulty but they have replaced everything they can so don’t know what to do? I just keep purchasing the extended service plan. Might be time to hire a lawyer because I believe this is a lemon. We paid $10K for this oven. I expect it to work better than this in its first three years.

We replaced all of our major kitchen appliances and chose Thermador based on our previous experience. Sorry we did. If there was a lemon law for appliances, we would have them all replaced with another brand. From the poor design to the performance they fail big time. Customer service, fail. Repair service, fail. What a waste of some big money. Out of 4 appliances, we've had repair service on 3. The oven didn't sound when it reached temperature nor did the kitchen timer. Repair person came and said it was a 2 person job since the oven had to come out, so I waited another month.

When they came they replaced the control panel, didn't have to remove the oven. They left a piece of debris on the inside of the glass and it covers some words. The tone is soft that I can hardly hear it and other times it doesn't sound at all. Shop around, there are much better out there. The dishwasher touch buttons have to be touched over and over and if stop it to add something, you have 3 seconds to restart it. Sorry we trusted Thermador.

We were lured in buying a Thermador oven and range. There was a promotion that if we bought the oven and range we would get a Thermador dishwasher for free. OMG…What a mistake did we made in buying these more than mediocre products. We bought a Miele dishwasher, just a couple of months after the installation of the Thermador dishwasher..!! We sent the Thermador dishwasher to junk and we paid an extra 400,$ to get the top model of the brand. The dishes and glasses were never, never completely clean!

We had a technician come over twice to replace the fan of the oven which makes a horrible sound for more than an hour after we turn the oven off. First, a technician came 2 months after the installation and said that the fan was already broken when it was delivered. One year later, he came again and changed the 2 fans just to make sure that the horrible sound would stop. Not long afterward, the noise started again and we are just so mad that we will have to send the oven to the junk yard after not even 3 years. What a waste of money!!! My only advice: stay AWAY from Thermador.

They had to make three trips, and no one knew what was wrong until I finally had one technician who came, opened up the front, put in the right chip while the technicians had been looking at the stove. They bent the drawer that’s beneath the stove, and I’ve been trying to get Thermador to come back and fix it, it seems like their techs do not have any experience although they claim to be well trained. I’m still sitting here four months later with a bent draw the Thermador hasn’t fixed. If you call the customer relations department you’re going to message which basically says sorry for a lousy phone service. Please wait for someone to answer your call. I was on for 30 minutes And no one picked up the phone. What a horrible, horrible company that claims to be a premium product.

The oven started shutting off after two years and finally shut down completely. Looking at reviews online it seems to be a very common problem with a $1,000+ fix that might last 2 years. At this price point, this is a complete lemon. I mentioned this to a friend in Marblehead and he has the exact same range with the same problem. Your service provider has not been able to find the solution. No oven all summer. What a lousy product.

Horrible customer service and horrible appliances. The microwave needed to be replaced within 2 years and the oven stopped working by just preheating it on 400 degree F for 15 mins. Now we have to keep the whole system turned off because of some board not working and 2 of the gas burners also do not work. It's been more than 2 months and we have to use a matchstick or candle lighter to turn on the remaining gas burners. If they claim to be this high end appliances, we would expect them to last longer and work better and have at least a decent customer support! We won't recommend buying Thermador appliances to anyone at all!

Updated on 04/26/2023: I posted my review on Consumer Affairs about my ordeal with Thermador installing a liquid propane orifice range when I actually use natural gas. After 3 years and $3200 in out of pocket cost, I finally determined the problem. In all honesty, when I posted my review, it was more to help others who may have the same issue. However, when a Thermador representative called me and asked me to submit proof of my cost, I thought the company would reimburse me for some of my expenses since they consistently misdiagnosed the problem. So I sent them all my receipts. Well guess what? They are not going to reimburse me. It was all a ploy to appease me and keep me quiet. Which is actually more aggravating than living with a malfunctioning Thermador range...The End!

Original Review: A Thermador stove top came with the house we purchased in 2020. From the day we moved-in, the flame on the range has been low and could not figure it out. A Thermador certified technician, said it was the regulator and replaced it for $600 charge. Nothing changed. But he said I need to contact my gas company, because that was the problem. I did and they checked the pressure from the outside meter, and noted that it met the 4psi requirement. I then contacted a plumber to see if the line to the range was the right size, he said I need a 1" line because of the connections to the furnace, hot-water tank and fireplace. That was $1600. Nothing changed. I then contacted another Thermador certified technician, who told I needed to purge the lines with high pressure hydrogen at $400 per hour. After 1.5 hours, there was still no change.

However, he checked the gas orifice on the range to see if it were actually for natural gas or liquid propane. Well, it turned out Thermador sent the appliance with liquid propane orifice which was too small for natural gas. After a total of $3200, the problem ended up being a $50 part which the first Thermador technician should have known.

Today we almost made progress except Thermador wants us to buy a new $15,000 range and they will graciously give us 10% off. The representative told us that the life span of this appliance is 10 years If I had known that I would have spent the $15k on a Wolf/subzero. A month went by heard nothing, I called. They said part was on backorder. 6 months went by which I kept calllng only to be told the same thing.

Finally, after I called several times and waited hours on hold each time a tech was sent out. He replaced the part but said that something else was wrong. Now the left side burners don't work. He schedules to return the next week. He arrives again only to state the part he was given was wrong. This went on 3 straight weeks. Finally after he repaired it the same day I noticed he put a large scratch and ding on my 7500 dollar stove. I called the company who directed me to thermador. I went additional 3 weeks being on hold and transferred from person to person. Then after 4 weeks of this they send me an email saying to fill out the claim for, take pictures and send the damage part by mail to them so they could investigate.

I am still dealing with this nightmare. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST and once you have paid all this money for their appliances you will find you would of been better of purchasing a 1000 dollar stove from lg or samsung. 7 months I have been without a stove. ONCE THEY GOT YOUR MONEY THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICE. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

It's been three years and the amount of time they have worked is far less than the amount of time they haven't. Their idea of customer service is to put you off until you give up and go away. Our repairman advised that this is a known problem, but so far he has been unable to fix it. I will never, under any circumstances, have another Thermador appliance in my home.

We bought a Thermador $8000 steam and regular oven 4 years ago. Since that time, we have had nothing but trouble and service calls. The latest issue is that the steam oven does not work (we BARELY cook) and we have been waiting TWO months for parts; it is 4 years old and as I said, we barely cook. We are using Thermador's suggested appliance repair company.

We also have no reliable bottom oven. The oven takes over an hour (today I'm at 2 hours waiting for it to get to 375) to heat. We have to turn it on and off, open and close the door, try convection and basically voodoo it until it starts heating. If we open the steam oven while trying to get the bottom oven to work, the whole unit shuts off and reboots itself. We haven't had an oven since.... before Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving was ruined.

This isn't the only time we have had issue. There have been issues with the oven multiple times over the last four years. Additionally, after you are done using the bottom oven - when it decides to heat - the fan noise to "cool" the oven is so loud you have to leave the room. Thermador says that is, "normal." I'm sick to my stomach that I listened to the salesperson at Spencer's Appliance (locally owned so I mistakenly thought perhaps they wanted to keep customers) and bought the oven.

I have never in my life encountered a company that was so unresponsive! I was so excited to purchase a range that included a steam oven in addition to convection oven, warming drawer, 6 burners and a griddle. The darn thing started malfunctioning almost immediately, and I haven't had a functioning oven and 4 of the burners for the last 2.5 years!!!! If I had not purchased the extended warranty, I would have been screwed for this $15,000 range!!!! The oven fan would run endlessly after the oven was cool (had to go throw breaker switches to turn it off), individual burners would turn themselves off, the ovens would turn themselves off until the entire thing simply refused to work at all! (Error Code 0610) At first, Thermador was "supportive", gave me contact info for the 3 authorized repair companies. The first one worked tirelessly for 2 years on it! Started happening before Covid happened, took FOREVER for parts to come in.

EVERY SINGLE PART on it has been replaced at least twice! All 5 circuit boards, wire harness, knobs, etc, etc. Each time a part was ordered it took a month to arrive! I documented everything, and my calls to Thermador/Bosch were endless. I always had to speak with a customer service rep from some other country and literally start over each time I called. Finally got really angry and raged at that company! 2.5 years later, I just received reimbursement for that piece of junk. All that has worked in the last 2.5 years are two burners and the electric griddle!!!! Thank God my husband insisted at the same time we bought the Thermador on a little speed oven/microwave (Miele) that works like a charm.

I've also been cooking outside on the gas grill as needed (learned how to bake bread in it!) and an air fryer! It's been an absolute nightmare. I also have Thermador fridge/freezer columns and a dishwasher, and they've been fine (fingers crossed). But I will NEVER EVER purchase a Thermador product again. And they're supposed to be among the best! The customer service is abysmal, and I felt that they just wanted me to give up and live with this non-functioning pile. I am happily going range shopping tomorrow. If you buy a Thermador oven, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $$ on the extended warranty to protect your investment. Their response and communication are terrible!

Issues started right away and I should have returned the stove but I allowed Thermador to fix it and now I am regretting that decision. First issue: When the range was delivered, the gas burners did not work. Turns out the factory had installed the burners backwards (i.e., bigger burners in the back). A Thermador technician came and diagnosed and fixed that quickly. Second issue: Sporadically when the oven door closed, the whole over would reset. If you didn't catch the resetting of the display, this meant the oven turned off and you had to bring all the knobs back to off before turning it back on. In addition you needed to reprogram everything like the time. The Thermador technician was never able to reproduce this issue and refused to fix it.

Third issue: The entire display has gone dark and the oven no longer works. The Thermador technician claims that the software deleted itself and that the software needs to be re-installed. However, they don't have the tools to do so. Therefore, they have to order all new hardware (i.e., circuit boards) from the California warehouse. The warehouse currently does not have any circuit boards in stock and they don't know when they will get any. I have to call back each week to ask. There appears to be a class action lawsuit that is being prepared for this exact problem.

And also Abt store who advertises “satisfaction guaranteed,” what a big lie. The guarantee goes as far as the product warranty. I have expressed to them how much I hate this stove, and they paid partial replacement cost for the top to be changed. I just know I have to buy a new stove. I just didn’t think an 11,000 stove is only good for a few months. They should be ashamed.

First was the obligatory, “we are having high call volume…” That all companies use to justify their poor staffing levels. An agent finally answered but midway through the conversation I was disconnected and no return call.

The second agent I reached was pleasant and I asked her for advice on how to adjust the flame. She explained to me her job is not to provide technical support but to take my number and have a technician come out to my house (at my expense of course). So there apparently is no one you can call to ask a simple question about the products once you are out of warranty. This is unfortunate since there are many large companies that gladly answer simple questions.

My oven is only 8 months old and stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a service appointment only to be told that they would have to order a part and come back at some unknown date. How long will I be without a functioning oven? Bad service!

We bought our Thermador range in 2019 and were very excited. Unfortunately almost immediately started having problems keeping the oven and the range igniters working. It has been a struggle to keep it working. During the first 2 years of ownership we have had constant problems and 10 service calls. We finally asked Thermador to replace this lemon and their reply was that "it was too old". (2 years!!). This range should last 20 years with very little maintenance!

We are sick and tired of this terrible experience and are going to have to buy another range/oven now. We were hopeful that Thermador might step up and help us. Unfortunately for us they are turning a blind eye to us and not willing to stand behind their product and frankly we can't believe it. We are writing this review to let appliance shoppers know our experience and that we would NEVER buy or recommend a Thermador product. We cannot keep this appliance working and the company's response to date has been to provide very little support or satisfaction at all. If you buy a Thermador, Buyer beware!!

I recently purchased a Thermador double wall oven. Since I was replacing an existing Thermador double wall oven and needed the same size, I did not check the reviews. My mistake. The ovens do not properly heat, so I contacted the store where I purchased the ovens and they came and checked them out. According to Yale Electric where I purchased the ovens, I should not expect the ovens to be at temp when the ovens register that they are at temp. I was told to preheat for a half an hour before using. Even when I do this, the ovens do not properly heat. Second issue is with the door venting system. The vents are just above the window, and while you cook, splattering can seep into the space leaving you with streaks and food on the inside of the glass. There is no way to clean it. I would not recommend purchasing a Thermador and regret my decision to do so.

Purchased Thermador Professional Double Oven. After 3 visits by the service department for error code issues, Thermador replaced the oven. The replacement oven started to develop intermittent issues …Not turning on, staying on even though settings where in off position error codes. Service came, and after spending time on phone with Thermador directly, his comment was “I have no idea what the problem is”. I am waiting to hear from Thermador what their next step is.

We remodeled our kitchen in 2016 and spent a small fortune on what we believed to be high end appliances with Thermador. The Thermador range/steam oven combo is a piece of junk! Thermador replaced the first one within a year because we had so many problems and now the current one we are on our 6th major repair in 5 years! The current repair - replacing the convention motor for the second time - has taken us over 2 months to get completed...and we are still waiting (they've cancelled our appointment twice by not showing up). Thermador customer service is pretty much non-existent. Do yourself a favor and buy another brand!

I hate my new stove - it doesn’t have a timer or a thermometer. It cooks uneven. It trips circuit breakers. I paid $6,300 for this piece of junk. They replaced the inside thermometer but it still cooks uneven. My $99.00 AirFryer cooks and baked way better than this oven. Don’t waste your money - Oh and then you call to talk to customer service and after on hold for an hour it disconnects.

I remodeled my kitchen 6 years ago and purchased 4 major appliances from a dealer specializing in this company - Thermador! I researched Thermador and saw that they were highly rated. Well, every appliance has been a piece of trash and I can't use my oven as it doesn't keep temperature and the part has been in limbo for 2 months. My induction cooktop has been repaired a couple of times over these 6 years. Now my dishwasher's springs have popped and I am waiting for a certified Thermador tech to come and fix it. I am afraid to try my Thermador steam oven in the case that it may break before I sell my house and won't meet inspection. What a BAD company selling this trash. BEWARE!!!

This is a Thermador PRG304 something. It’s a terrible stove. Way overpriced, inferior to a simple sub-thousand dollar stove we had before. It's got all kinds of problems. Broiler sucks. You open the oven, flames lick out, and yet it burns things or doesn't heat them enough. Star burners wobble. And the air currents, they don't make a steady flame. And the oven doesn't heat up very fast. We don't get consistent results. Save your money, this thing sucks. You could buy five stainless steel, I don't know, Samsung stoves for the same price. They work better, plus they have thermostats on them that you can set timers. Just stay away, it's a rip off. And it’s smaller than the one we had before in the same form factor, and it weighs a ton. There’s nothing good I can say about it.

We had a range from Thermador that never quite worked. After growing frustration, we finally called service and they told us that there was a defect with the logic board for our year of manufacture. However, because we waited so long (partially because of the pandemic) we were out of our two year warranty and they wouldn't repair the defect without spending $700 on the repair. This is for a $20,000+ range. Avoid this company like the plague.

I bought these ovens two years ago and two weeks ago they died. I need some kind of panel and a control panel, which will not be available for another 3 weeks. They were fine until now, but two years is not a lot of time for a pretty pricey oven and I don't even have one functioning -- they both died. Customer service is kind, but useless.

We purchased a Thermador double oven and had it installed the day after Thanksgiving. Seemed ok for the first few weeks but then the bottom oven stopped working. Reset the circuit breaker and the bottom oven turned back on. Went to rotisserie a prime rib on Christmas Eve, rotisserie wouldn’t turn. Ended up using the roast option. Called the appliance store where we bought the oven and Thermador to get a technician to come out. While waiting on parts the upper steamer oven stopped working completely. Resetting the circuit breaker didn’t help. We finally got the bottom oven fixed a couple weeks ago but the technician didn’t know anything about the upper oven problem. So now we wait until the parts arrive for the upper oven. Four months and $8000 worth of disappointment.

I purchased a whole kitchen of appliances in 2019. My pride purchase was a Thermador 36 inch gas 4 burner with a grill in the middle. 7149.99 stove alone. The meat probe from the oven was never used until that Thanksgiving when I was going to cook my first turkey with my Thermador stove probe kit. Seems simple right? Put the probe in the turkey, set it and wait for the probe to chirp. Right from the start it gave me a defective code with the probe in. It couldn't be used. Since the fall of 2019 until today Thermador's qualified service techs have been to the house 5 times and are unable to fix it.

One and one half years later no resolution. They just decided that they would replace my stove. The replacement is the stove prg366wh which is 1000.00 dollars less. They refuse to reimburse even a fraction of the amount claiming I've had the stove over a year, even though my call for service was less than 6 months after owning the stove. I've declined, I'm off to court. Somethings are a matter of principle. Bottom line, Thermador is no longer able to support their past reputation. One last thing I discovered during this problem. The parts are made in China, so how do they claim the quality when everything is being made for all at the same sweatshop. Stay away from Thermador. Worst purchase I've made in 20 years.
