Updated on 04/26/2023: I posted my review on Consumer Affairs about my ordeal with Thermador installing a liquid propane orifice range when I actually use natural gas. After 3 years and $3200 in out of pocket cost, I finally determined the problem. In all honesty, when I posted my review, it was more to help others who may have the same issue. However, when a Thermador representative called me and asked me to submit proof of my cost, I thought the company would reimburse me for some of my expenses since they consistently misdiagnosed the problem. So I sent them all my receipts. Well guess what? They are not going to reimburse me. It was all a ploy to appease me and keep me quiet. Which is actually more aggravating than living with a malfunctioning Thermador range...The End!
Original Review: A Thermador stove top came with the house we purchased in 2020. From the day we moved-in, the flame on the range has been low and could not figure it out. A Thermador certified technician, said it was the regulator and replaced it for $600 charge. Nothing changed. But he said I need to contact my gas company, because that was the problem. I did and they checked the pressure from the outside meter, and noted that it met the 4psi requirement. I then contacted a plumber to see if the line to the range was the right size, he said I need a 1" line because of the connections to the furnace, hot-water tank and fireplace. That was $1600. Nothing changed. I then contacted another Thermador certified technician, who told I needed to purge the lines with high pressure hydrogen at $400 per hour. After 1.5 hours, there was still no change.
However, he checked the gas orifice on the range to see if it were actually for natural gas or liquid propane. Well, it turned out Thermador sent the appliance with liquid propane orifice which was too small for natural gas. After a total of $3200, the problem ended up being a $50 part which the first Thermador technician should have known.
We installed our range in 2015. Our first service call to fix something g broken was 2016. Our steam oven have been out since 2021 and every month when we call we are told the part is on back order. Today we almost made progress except Thermador wants us to buy a new $15,000 range and they will graciously give us 10% off. The representative told us that the life span of this appliance is 10 years If I had known that I would have spent the $15k on a Wolf/subzero. I find it unreasonable that a major part in the oven function has been on back order for 2 years. Stay away from Thermador!

When we remodeled our kitchen in 2021, we decided on a Thermador oven/speed oven combo. It took over a year to arrive (!!), and now 6 months in, it has already blown a control board. Their customer service is horrible as well and acts like they could not care less about you as a customer. Please save your money - 8k is a lot of money for a dust-gatherer!
I purchased a brand new Thermador stove in 2019 and never used it because I also have double oven. One day in summer of 2022 it just died and oven didn't work. I have service contract which I paid 900 dollars for. I called for service and 3 weeks later a tech came out and said control bd was no good and that they needed to order it. A month went by heard nothing, I called. They said part was on backorder. 6 months went by which I kept calllng only to be told the same thing.
Finally, after I called several times and waited hours on hold each time a tech was sent out. He replaced the part but said that something else was wrong. Now the left side burners don't work. He schedules to return the next week. He arrives again only to state the part he was given was wrong. This went on 3 straight weeks. Finally after he repaired it the same day I noticed he put a large scratch and ding on my 7500 dollar stove. I called the company who directed me to thermador. I went additional 3 weeks being on hold and transferred from person to person. Then after 4 weeks of this they send me an email saying to fill out the claim for, take pictures and send the damage part by mail to them so they could investigate.
I am still dealing with this nightmare. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST and once you have paid all this money for their appliances you will find you would of been better of purchasing a 1000 dollar stove from lg or samsung. 7 months I have been without a stove. ONCE THEY GOT YOUR MONEY THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICE. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
We outfitted our new home with Thermador. Two dishwasher, side by side built in fridge/freezer, wine fridge, 48" cooktop, and double ovens. The ovens have been "repaired" three times, the repairman has been out another time. We still don't have working ovens. Their own repairman recommended we get new ovens, and Thermador refused. It's been three years and the amount of time they have worked is far less than the amount of time they haven't. Their idea of customer service is to put you off until you give up and go away. Our repairman advised that this is a known problem, but so far he has been unable to fix it. I will never, under any circumstances, have another Thermador appliance in my home.
I have a Thermador stove. The light is out on the panel. I called and explained to the service department what was wrong, along with year purchased, name and model. They charged $159 to come out and tell me in a minute or less parts were no longer available. What a waste of money. Poor product. Worse customer service.
Don’t ever purchase a dual fuel Thermador range. I spent $18k on a pro range. I had hot cocoa boil over onto the induction cooktop. It leaked into the internal mechanism and short circuited the entire unit. They sent out a repair person who said it was my fault and not covered under warranty and it would be $4k to repair. This is a design flaw! Back your product!
Purchased a brand new PRG364 Thermador oven. Hired a cabinet maker to remodel kitchen to fit the new Thermador range. Once installed, the oven and led screen did not work. I purchased the range from Spencers Appliance and called them for repair. They passed me on to Thermador Representative. The range was installed on Dec 15, 2022. It is now mid February 2023, and I still have a non operating range. Have called many times for assistance, Thermador claims they don't have a part.
Spencers tells me to upgrade to another range for 2000+ additional dollars. Remember the kitchen was remodeled for this range. Now I am stuck with Spencer passing the buck and Thermador making excuses. Unfortunately, I will need to turn this over to the attorney General or hire an attorney for damages. I was going to upgrade my entire kitchen with Thermador appliance, now, no way in hell would I ever replace any of appliances with Thermador.
Their service department is terrible. The burner on my stove stopped working and I scheduled for a technician to come and take a look at it. I put in the model number of my range and basically I paid the technician 170 dollars to tell me the range is too old to be repaired because there are zero parts available for it. Thermador could have just screened that on my request and told me it's not fixable. The technician didn't even ask me what was wrong with my stove because no repairs are possible.
We bought a Thermador $8000 steam and regular oven 4 years ago. Since that time, we have had nothing but trouble and service calls. The latest issue is that the steam oven does not work (we BARELY cook) and we have been waiting TWO months for parts; it is 4 years old and as I said, we barely cook. We are using Thermador's suggested appliance repair company.
We also have no reliable bottom oven. The oven takes over an hour (today I'm at 2 hours waiting for it to get to 375) to heat. We have to turn it on and off, open and close the door, try convection and basically voodoo it until it starts heating. If we open the steam oven while trying to get the bottom oven to work, the whole unit shuts off and reboots itself. We haven't had an oven since.... before Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving was ruined.
This isn't the only time we have had issue. There have been issues with the oven multiple times over the last four years. Additionally, after you are done using the bottom oven - when it decides to heat - the fan noise to "cool" the oven is so loud you have to leave the room. Thermador says that is, "normal." I'm sick to my stomach that I listened to the salesperson at Spencer's Appliance (locally owned so I mistakenly thought perhaps they wanted to keep customers) and bought the oven.
