We recently purchased a new Thermador oven Model MSD301WS/01. The user interface is horrible as it uses a display panel that is located about 2 feet off of the floor and requires you to swipe the menu options (like a smartphone) to make your selections. I literally have to kneel down on the floor to read the display and the text swipes so quickly that I have to carefully swipe word by word to find what I want to do. I never thought that turning on an oven to bake something would be so difficult and uncomfortable!
The oven comes with WiFi capability that is impossible to connect to your router. It is so bad (not even sure if it works) that there are 3 places you have to get instructions to try and connect it - the user manual, a special home connect instruction pamphlet, and the app you have to install on your smartphone. After spending several hours trying to connect to my router (I come from the IT industry) I finally called customer support. We spent almost an hour trying to get it connected while he gave me step by step instructions from 2 different instruction sources. We could never get it connected so we decided I need a service call. He told me that if the problem is due to connectivity from my router then I would have to pay for the service call. My router works fine but I think that this is really poor customer service! I discourage anyone looking at new ovens to buy this one. I will probably send mine back.
We have repeated failures of the blower motors on our oven. If the oven senses that either fan isn't spinning at nominal speed, the oven shuts down. It's a $500 bill every time one of the motors goes out ($300 service plus $200 for the part). The first went out barely a year after we bought the oven. The next went out later the same year. Barely a year later and one of the replacements is failing. Replacing the fan involves pulling the oven from the wall, no easy feat for the do-it-yourselfer.
Note that sometimes a reset will work, at least temporarily. Thermador doesn't make the reset easy. You have to cut off power at the circuit breakers, turn power back on, then do the programming for date and time. Very frustrating if you have to do this several times hoping that fan will spin a bit faster on the next go around.
I have a 36” gas/gas convection oven. It’s almost 4 years old. Bought it from ABT in Glenview Il. The bake setting never worked. I had service at least 4 times. I was told to get use to it. That’s how this oven works. If the oven is used for long time the temperature drops. I was told to do the biscuits test. When I send them the picture they told me that I used the wrong rack... Every time there was another excuse. PLEASE don’t get stuck with this oven. Customer service is terrible and their product even worse.
I bought the hood 30 days ago and since the day I receive it it didn’t work. Yes it’s 10,000$ defective range. They sent me a technician 3 times trying to fix it and he disassemble the range piece by piece and put it back together and still not working. This is a scam. This appliance didn’t pass quality check before selling it for the big $$. Stay away from Thermador. Stay away from Thermador. I can’t say it enough. Scammers and thiefs!!
I have to say that I purchased this range with great expectations thinking that Thermador had such a wonderful reputation; however, I am extremely disappointed in the performance of the larger oven. We had a small dinner party catered, and it would not hold the heat to finish preparing the dinner on her large sheet pans. I've had problems with the lights not working intermittently, so I decided to replace the bulbs (which the manual states is a DIY maintenance item). This is not a DIY job because you have to crawl into the oven to reach them (there are 2 of them in the larger oven), and in order to do it properly, you pretty much have to remove the oven door. Suffice it to say that I now have to call a repairman to put the door back on. The first and only time I tried to clean the oven. The amperage on the circuit is exactly that specified by Thermador.

We have a Thermador gas oven with griddle top. The non stick coating peeled after one year. They refused to back the defective griddle. Customer service extremely rude! They put you through many tasks to get a file number. Fan on oven is also very loud. Save yourself some headaches, DO NOT Purchase Thermador!
Installed new Thermador range and hood when kitchen was remodeled in 2013. Oven in range has needed new igniters twice, at $450 parts and labor each time. Now it needs new oven door hinges -- fortunately an aftermarket company makes replacement parts for this range because Thermador does not! After just 5 years?
Two weeks ago the fan in the hood started making squealing/chattering sounds -- clearly the bearings are dry. I've read about how Chinese manufacturers are using crummy lubricants on motor shafts, the lube dries out in a few years and the motor becomes junk. I wonder if that's what happened to ours. American made motors used to last 30 years. The design of this hood is horrible -- to get the fan out almost the entire hood must be disassembled! No plugs are used, as you can see in the picture everything is cabled together so the control box must be disassembled first. It is as if Thermador wanted to drive up the cost of service to the point that the owner opts to just buy a new one.
Does Thermador think their customers are all morons? Who would buy a second Thermador product after having owned a first one?? Our service tech is a good guy, he apologized, but has to charge $500 labor alone to tear it apart and reassemble with new fan. Save yourself the grief and the money -- stay away from Thermador! I'll quote a spot-on comment by another reviewer in this thread: "Never, ever buy Thermador. Their products are astronomically-priced trash, their support is nonexistent, and their replacement part costs are straight out of the Porsche parts-pricing school. Live and learn."
We purchased a Thermador Pro Harmony 36" range in 2010 and have been disappointed with it ever since. It was purchased as part of a kitchen remodel package and all 3 Thermador appliances purchased have been replaced over the 7 years we had them, except our oven which only performs sporadically. The griddle stopped working after a year, the circuit board has been replaced, the burner ignitors have been replaced, the broiler function no longer works and the oven door hinges no longer work to keep the door shut. We literally have to push a stool up against the door when we use the oven to keep the door closed. Thermador says they no longer make hinges since the oven is discontinued. And, they couldn't even provide me the name of a parts company to order new hinges. Apparently the hinges are no longer available, anywhere! They are worthless! DO NOT BUY THERMADOR!
The ovens in my 48" Thermador Range are garbage. For years I have had problems with the larger oven not heating to the proper temperature (getting up to 250 degrees regardless of where the temperature is set). The motherboard had to be replaced but it still hasn't worked properly. It's hit or miss when I turn it on to see if it will get past 250 degrees. Recently the smaller oven went out completely. Over eight hundred dollars in repairs later, the small oven now acts like the large oven and it is hit or miss to see if it will get up to the proper temperature. It seems to work better if I turn the larger oven on at the same time. It's absolutely unacceptable that there are so many complaints with this company. I will NEVER again purchase anything from Thermador. Now my dilemma is whether to continue to invest money in repairs or just chuck the whole thing and go with another brand. It makes me sick to think about it.
We purchased a top-of-the-line Thermador CM302 double oven in 2004; since then, we have had to replace the "Relay Board" 3 times. The first time was covered under warranty, the second they paid for 10% of the part cost. We paid entirely for parts and labor after the 3rd failure. Now, it has failed again. Thermador Customer Service is unwilling to do anything about it; and to top it off, they tell me the relay board is no longer available. All they would do is give me the name of a company that "might" rebuild the board. No help as to who might remove and replace it for us, nor any support to get a new one. The oven won't operate properly - again. Their customer service associate was rude and arrogant. We own several Thermador, Bosch and Gaggenau products. NEVER AGAIN! I strongly suggest that anyone looking for premium appliances avoid EVERYTHING this company makes. Buy them at your own risk...
I was sitting in my kitchen in March, when I heard a loud explosion... It was very scary. I did not know where the sound had come from. Later, when I opened my Thermador oven as it was on the Cleaning Cycle, the entire inside glass was broken in large cracks. When I opened the door, little powder flakes went on the floor. When I cleaned the floor, little pieces came into my skin. No blood or anything, it felt like slivers in the skin. They worked out in a week. So no serious damage, just hurt and bothered me. I don't think any oven glass should break. It was a very expensive downdraft in the counter island type stove. I consider it a serious safety issue. I called Abt to let them know what happened, I was referred to Thermador and it took many calls back and forth.
I offered to send them photos of the damaged oven. But, they wanted a repairman to come. So, I lost time waiting and having a man come to say, "Yes. It is broken glass." A repair man came out for no charge from Abt paid for by Thermador. Abt repairman said it was a thermo blast and not uncommon. Later Abt said they would submit a claim to Thermador. The door and glass were not available any longer and no other contact was made. I waited several weeks, called back regarding the claim and was told by Abt that Thermador was doing nothing. End of Story. Abt said that Thermador said my stove was too old. It was 20 years old. I understand things do not last forever, however, should glass explode for no reason and their product should last as long as it is maintained and cared for correctly, which it was.
I was surprised that Thermador did not write me a postcard or email or call to say that they didn't care what happened... Too bad. But instead, they took no responsibility for their oven exploding. Never ever said, "Oh sorry", just really indifferent. I am writing as I do not think that Thermador stands behind their product. This stove of mine had every bell and whistle and was supposed to be top of the line. I was surprised that I was not offered a small discount on a new stove, or even an apology letter. Their customer service is definitely not very good to their customers and they do not stand up for service or care to the consumer. Thank you for your time and I appreciate it if others were made aware of Thermador's lack of customer service and that also to expect a glass explosion in the oven without warning. Watch out when baking if small children are nearby.
My range is 4 years old. Finally called Thermador directly and they confirmed what the repair person told me. Once you turn the oven to a certain temperature you cannot adjust it, no turning down that pie that's been in for 15 minutes. You have to turn the oven off and let it cool down. And you can't leave the oven door open or else you'll burn out the board that sits at the top of the opening. BIG PROBLEM for me. Can't believe that my $7000 stove doesn't have this feature. Love the burners though.
After six visits by their authorized repairman and at least 5 calls to Customer Service, my PCG366E1 professional series cooktop still doesn't work. I've not experienced a more incompetent group of people in my life and I'm 65 years old. They just keep passing the buck. I guess they are hoping that you'll just go away or die. Get this, they (Customer Support) won't engage with their own technical support people to try and resolve an issue for the customer. I ask for technical help to get my unit fixed and they offered me a 20% discount on parts. I had to explain at least 5 times I wasn't looking for a deal, I was looking for help to resolve the issue. I will never buy Thermador again and I will never buy any appliances from the company that owns Thermador. That's BSH Appliances, a Germany company.
My Thermador Professional double oven bought for $12,000 in 2004. I have had 5 different repair man coming to my home to repair it, each visit about $70. Couple didn't call me back even. Last 2 repair professionals told me that there is no more parts for my high end oven. I called today Thermador myself. Customer service told me that after 7 years they don't make parts anymore??!! Technicians removed few parts here and there, to buy new, never got old ones back, don't know their parts numbers. Next week Feb. 28th 2017, Thermador own technician is coming to assess, $120 plus $30. Made in 2004, so expensive but not repairable. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO NOW??? P.S. I have 2 burners working only, other 4 burners, grill and both ovens are not.
Just found out that they no longer make part to repair blower motor for model no. pgr486gdzs. May have to junk my very expensive oven. Saw that other people are having the same problem. Thinking class action lawsuit. How can we do that?
Bought a large 60-inch dual range from Thermador. Very sleek and fits right in with the other appliances. Easy to clean and can handle any type of meal that you want to prepare. Pricier than your typical range but it very much well worth it. Can handle any job that you may have. Much more powerful than your typical range. Larger than your typical range so you have to take that into consideration. Can handle any type of meal that you are willing to cook. From slow cooking stews to faster cooking pizzas it can handle them just as well.
Works well, no problems - it works fine. Price is okay. The color is nice. It was a long time before I had to clean it and I like it. The price was higher but it looks nice and classy and works well enough that I am satisfied with the product that I will not call to complain about the product. It was more expensive than most but I liked the style and thought it would work well because it is good enough to spend the few extra dollars. The size fits well in my kitchen. It could be lighter but obviously you don't pick up w/ stove that much so it doesn't play into effect at all and it's a nice stove.
The overall performance was just as expected. It performed flawlessly. With its easy to use setup it was perfect for me and my family. There wasn't single thing on there that gave problems or had you questioning. Well for we paid for it it's worth every penny we put down into it. I couldn't have been any more satisfied with it than I already am. I would recommend this brand to anyone and have already recommended to everyone I know. We have the stainless steel model with the side by side oven racks and double top cooking ranges and let me just say it looks absolutely stunning in my kitchen. Very sleek and modern look that would make any kitchen look spectacular. The overall size was just perfect for what I needed. I'm able to cook multiple things at the same time without crowding my cook area. That goes for the oven and the ranges. If you're like me and have a big family and love to cook great food this is what you're looking for.
I can do more than one thing in it at different temperatures. With this I can cook a dinner for a lot of people in less time. After it's easy to clean and does not take a lot of space. The value is good. With all that it does it is worth the price of it. I would buy it again if I need to get on. It looks good, it makes the kitchen look like it's better. With the two side by side it does not take up a lot of room in the kitchen. The color goes with everything in it. It fits into small spaces which makes it easy to have a lot of other stuff in the kitchen also. With this I can add other stuff I want to have in the kitchen also.
The performance was at par or better than others I have used before. I would use this brand again and recommend it to anyone that may ever ask me advice on. I have used it at another location for an event. Based on the performance, I would say the value would be good. It's a very professional and modern design. The color patterning is quite nice. I wouldn't change anything about the appearance. It's a typical size.
Works great and well. I have enjoyed using this product every chance I get. I do want to try something else though to experience more. Value was good for what I got. The product works well and provides what I need to feed my family. That is what I need in equipment. Good price and works wonders. Appearance is great. Looks strong and sturdy and I like the modern look that it provides my kitchen. Makes it stand out more than the past stove I had in there. Fits in the little spot where my stove goes, not too big nor too small in size. Perfect oven size for what I need to cook in there also.
I haven't had any problems with this product so far. I love it. Unlike my last one, it's easier to keep clean. And the performance is much better. For what I have paid for it compared to the last one I owned, the quality for the value is amazing. I paid way more for something that wasn't as good as this one. It looks amazing! It's not dull or boring looking but it's not over the top either. It's the perfect addition. Makes things look more put together. It fits where I would like it to fit. It's not too small either. It's big enough to fit whatever I need in it.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Can be a little pricey though. It is invaluable! Easy to use, and very modern... compared to the other prices and what is out there it is definitely number one. I love this product. Feels premium and makes me happy to show it off. Nobody I knows has it. Could be a tad bigger because I like bigger items but it is totally fine and I am proud to have this product in my house.
My appliance runs very, very well! I have had very few problems since I bought it about 3 years ago. It runs basically like it is brand new! The value on the appliances is fantastic! You get more than what you really pay for, and for how long the product lasts it is absolutely fantastic! The appearance of the appliance is great. It is an appliance and not a decorative item, but it doesn't have that clunky machine look. It's sleek and unnoticeable. The size is just perfect! I don't think it is too big or too small. It is just the right size that it doesn't take up too much room in my house.
The product works as expected. I have not had any issues or problems with the product since purchase. It's easy to use and operate, and has all the features you need in a range. It simple to use and efficient. I am extremely happy with the overall value. I was able to purchase at an amazing price. I actually spent less than I had budgeted for, which made me very happy. It looks great, works great. I am extremely happy with the appearance of the product. Considering I was able to get it at an amazing price, it still looks modern and stylish. It looks a lot more expensive than it actually was and it matches my other appliances, and looks awesome in my kitchen. The size of the range is perfect. Big enough that I can fit larger items in the stove and cook multiple sides on the range top. But it's not so bulky that it looks obnoxious. It fits perfectly in the designated area.
It works well and looks good but I had to replace one of the burners. Cooks everything I need and is easy to clean. I got it at a good price and my wife really enjoys using it. It is a very valuable product that me and my wife use for my family and friends. We use it on a daily basis and I couldn't see getting by without it The look of the product is excellent. My wife loves the color and the design, and all our friends have commented on how well it looks overall. It is a very appealing product and design. The product is a great design and is a perfect size, and a perfect fit for my family's kitchen. It is just the right size. It is not too big but it's not too small either. It doesn't take up too much room in the kitchen either.
Love the design of it. Nice sleek appearance and is an innovative product. It always performs at top notch and never lets me down. I'd definitely recommend this product to family & friends. I will be buying this product again in the future. Excellent value that's well worth the money. Very durable product that will last a long time. I look forward to using this because it always delivers the best experience. Love the color because it matches my other products. Goes very well with the theme I have in my house. It's an innovative product that won't disappoint you. Perfect size that fits very well with my other products. Doesn't take up a lot of room like other products do. It is definitely the right product for my family and I.
