SilverBack offers three different home warranties that cover appliances and systems regardless of age, make, or model: Blackback, SilverBack, and King Kong. Each plan provides coverage for a wide variety of systems and appliances. All three plans also include a re-key service and a pre-season tuneup for A/C and heating, while only the SilverBack and King Kong plans include haul-away and disposal.

Plan details

All three of SilverBack’s home warranties cover appliances, plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical. The Blackback plan is the base package, while King Kong includes all the items listed in the Blackback and SilverBack plans.

Add-on coverage

Like most other warranty companies, SilverBack offers extra coverage on systems and appliances with add-ons. SilverBack’s add-ons are called “À La Carte.” You can purchase add-ons at a yearly price, or you can contact the company's service team for monthly pricing.

SilverBack's contract contains many limitations and exclusions, just like most other warranty companies. This company only covers repairs and replacements for complete mechanical failure and excludes things such as mold or mildew.

Here is a list of items that SilverBack Home Warranty also doesn't cover:

• Acts of god
• Cosmetic defects
• Rust or corrosion
• Damage caused by pests or pets
• Secondary damage
• Living spaces not connected to the main home
• Stoppages or breaks caused by roots

• Preexisting conditions

SilverBack Home Warranty coverage caps

It is important to note that SilverBack has coverage caps on most repairs and parts. This means the company will cover costs up to a certain limit for replacements and repairs, leaving you responsible for paying the rest out of pocket.

Here are some coverage caps found in the Utah customer contract:

• Additional refrigerator: Capped at $1,000
• Sprinkler system and timer: Capped at $500
• Refrigerator: Capped at $1,200
• Additional water heater: Capped at $500
• Central vacuum: Capped at $250
• Swimming pool and hot tub: Capped at $1,200
• Septic system: Capped at $500
• Grinder pump/sewer ejector: Capped at $500
• Booster pump/sump pump: Capped at $500
• Well pump: Capped at $500
• Washer and dryer: Capped at $500 each
• Interior plumbing system: Capped at $1,000
• Kitchen appliances: Capped at $1,500
• Interior electrical system: Capped at $1,000
• A la carte options: Capped at $1,000

You can purchase a SilverBack Home Warranty for a term of 12 months at a time at $400, $500 or $600 a year at the time of publishing. This company does not offer monthly pricing unless you contact its service team.

Discounts

SilverBack offers one prepaid service call, meaning you can make one free service call during your contract without paying a deductible. Other than that, the company doesn’t include any discounts with its warranty plans.

Compare with competitors

There are a few ways SilverBack sets itself apart from its competitors. Generally, smaller warranty companies don't include many systems and appliances in their base plan, but SilverBack’s Blackback plan covers appliances, plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical.

This company also only has a deductible of $60, while many other companies have a deductible of $75 or more. However, unlike many other warranty companies, SilverBack doesn't openly offer monthly payment plans.

To cancel your contract, you must email a written cancellation request to info@silverbackhw.com. You can cancel your contract within 30 days after the initial acceptance. If you cancel, SilverBack will provide a 75% pro-rated refund minus a $100 administration fee and any other fees you owe the company.
