I purchased a new Sharp model smc0962ks Microwave for $99 from Lowes Home Improvement in Spring 2023. For two years there were no issues. The warranty is for one year. At almost the exact two year mark from the manufacturing date the microwave began to turn on and run spontaneously, and lost all keypad function. I am glad I work from home and discovered the issue as this is a big safety concern, aside from the malfunction. After researching this issue online I discovered that others encountered the same malfunction. I reached out to Sharp and to their credit they did not negate that there was a problem but their solution was to offer me another microwave at an expense to me of $74. I requested a repair but they refused. This is what they referred to as a "prorated" price.

After some back and forth they gave a final offer of $60 and they would ship me a new microwave. I find it not only surprising that there has not been a recall on this model, but that Sharp is unwilling to stand behind their product and make things right. I paid $99 for a new unit that should have (at bare minimum) a five year life span. A true prorated price would be to offer me a new model at $40 to reflect the short two years of ownership, rather than attempt to charge the customer for simply having the misfortune to purchase a faulty product. I considered them a good brand but after this experience I have lost my faith in the quality of their products and their customer service.

DO NOT PURCHASE! I purchased a Sharp Drawer model MY (Manufacturing date Jan 2019). A replacement costs $1300. After 6 years the internal transformer quit working. Local appliance repair places will not repair MW's so I had to troubleshoot myself. Calling Sharp CS, I was directed to Sharps web page to order parts just to learn Sharp no longer replaced parts (just a webpage to order accessories). So a small priced part (transformer), according to Sharp, is reason to through MW in a landfill and spend $1300 on a replacement. What a racket. Attached are screenshots of Sharps so called "parts" webpage where you can expect no help or a response.

We just remodeled our kitchen. Everything down to the studs. Ended up going with a sharp microwave drawer. From day one we’ve had issues. Microwave cuts off all the time during heating process. They put the blame on the electrician who wired it (he wired the entire kitchen, no issues with any other appliances). Sharp customer service reps were unhelpful, literally reading off scripts in broken English. Basically telling me there is nothing they can do, even under warranty. Will never buy a Sharp Product again.

I purchased a Sharp commercial microwave. When I took the box and plugged it in, there were wires burning inside the microwave. I contacted customer service and they refused to help me. They have the nerve to tell me how to service after they sold me a defective wire, burning microwave and they refused to replace the warranty so my advice is to stay away from sharp products. They are frauds, and they do not honor their warranties. Paid $350 for this microwave and they’re telling me they’re not going to replace it or refund my money.

We purchased a draw. microwave & very shortly after the 3 year warranty was up it stopped heating, called Sharp many times & spent a great deal of time with them on the phone to find out the Megatron had warranty for 5 years. Another was sent but however the service technician that I had to hire said there were 2 other parts will also need to be placed. Sharp will not even send parts to you, it must be a technician. Sharp did not send other parts. I paid for technician to come again & replace Megatron. Sharp did not send other 2 parts. Microwave lasted 5 days before not heating again & now Sharp must talk to technician not me to get other parts at a cost for additional parts. I will have to pay another fee for technician to come again. 3rd time! Terrible Microwave! Something that cost $1500 should last longer & not be so complicated to get parts! Will never ever buy another Sharp appliance! And you should not either!

Bought a Sharp SMC1662DS Carousel Microwave and the wheel design is defective. The wheels shave off the plastic pegs and you end up with Plastic shavings in Microwave. Watch manufacturing date because mine was August 2023 and I Purchased only 6 months ago at Lowe's, Sharp will not warranty assembly ring because manufacturing date was Aug 2023. Unbelievable I would have to pay Sharp 45.00 for warranty and or 11.00 plus shipping to replace defective wheel assembly...to get another made exactly the same. See photos of plastic coming from wheels. Showed pic of box as well.

I purchased my Sharp countertop microwave. It's a 1.4 cu ft. microwave. I did buy it in 2019 and I am the only one using it. I was in my dining room and I heard a noise in my kitchen so I went in to look around and noticed that the glass door on my microwave had shattered. I wasn't using it at the time. I contacted Sharp to see if they will replace it or give me some type of credit towards a new one, but they denied my request since it is past the warranty. I know it's past the warranty, but I sure never expected that a glass door would shatter into a thousands pieces. I'm very disappointed and will now have to buy another microwave. I will not buy another Sharp and will be buying another brand.

We purchased the in drawer microwave and spent in excess of $1300 for it. After approximately 6 months after installation, the trim around the "Control panel" started to peel off. Although still under warranty, Sharp told us that cosmetic damage is not covered by their warranty. There was no damage done by us. The plastic strip is peeling off and looks bad. They will not do anything about it. This tells you what their warranty is worth! Nothing! I would definitely think twice before buying another Sharp product.

Bought a commercial microwave 5/10/21. 2 weeks later it completely died and we received a warranty replacement. Last month (Feb 2023) it stopped heating. We are out of the normal warranty but they have a 3yr warranty on the Magnetron... What a joke! Called Sharp and went through a half hour on the phone giving all the details of how everything works (lights, fan, etc) but nothing heats up and they created a case for me. An hour later later I get an email saying it's out of warranty. Another 30min to call in, verify my info and explain (again) it's the magnetron which IS covered under warranty.

Ah... So in order to get warranty coverage I have to contact one of their AUTHORIZED repair shops, in this case they gave me "Jefferies Appliance" in Spokane.

The repair shop must diagnose the issue (They charge $98 to show up and diagnose OR take it to the shop and it's $49 to diagnose). If they determine it's the Magnetron then Sharp will supply the part and I would have to pay labor to install at a shop rate of $140 per hr (Self install is NOT an option). Shop estimated at least an hour of labor to replace the part.

So, for a $300 microwave that already died right out of the gates and then the Magnetron dies in less than 2yrs and would cost approx $250 to repair... WHY would I spend ALMOST the price of a new unit to repair an old unit that has not proven to be reliable??? Also, after reading multiple reviews, the magnetron seems to be junk since so many people reported the magnetron died in their units as well. STAY AWAY FROM SHARP MICROWAVES!

I chose to go with a more expensive brand name in hopes of the product lasting longer. That doesn't seem to be the case. I'm highly disappointed in "customer service", or lack thereof.

We tried to live with it, turning off breaker to reset computer in appliance in hopes that would correct issue. That worked for a while, giving us another week or so, or several and then the panel was on the fritz again. They say warranty starts from purchase not from when we began using it, which was in October 2021. What?! It sat in our living room from July to October while kitchen was being remodeled. The product failed before year was out, control pad was completely on the fritz. Unit would turn on like Disney's fantasia microwave, without being instructed to do so. You'd close the drawer it would turn on. Open drawer it would turn on again. You'd push a button to get a certain power or time and no response. Very expensive microwave for such a short shelf life. We are very sorry we purchased.

We were excited to receive our new Sharp microwave drawer. Unfortunately, it arrived broken and we cannot reach anyone at Sharp to help us fix the problem. I've called daily for the last 4 days and have gotten one email with the message that the issue is "being reviewed". When I have connected to someone, it's been an operator in another country with a TERRIBLE phone connection or headset so scratchy, I can't hear/understand them. No matter because when I HAVE been able to talk to someone, they have no idea how to help or answer any of my questions, saying "Someone will get back to you" -- only to have me wait, never getting a call or an answer.

The company is AWFUL. And the drawer sucks. It would have been MUCH better to just use our old inexpensive countertop microwave. What a waste of money!!! And such an unprofessional, terrible company to try and deal with. I absolutely do NOT recommend buying ANY product from Sharp. I know we will avoid them at all costs. It's just not worth the headache. TERRIBLE!!!

When we moved to our new residence in 2010, we needed a microwave. I got in my car and drove to the closest department store, which happened to be Target, and they have one on a clearance sale; a Sharp 1200 watts microwave, Model No. R-520KS-T. I hesitated some before purchasing it because I was afraid it wouldn't last but we were in a budget and needed a microwave right away, so I took the chance and bought it. This was 10 years ago, and since then, it has worked without any issues. In 2018, my wife and I decided to upgrade all our kitchen appliances, including the microwave.

The price for the new microwave was over $900 more than the Sharp microwave. We had built a patio addition to the house and decided to keep the Sharp microwave for the occasional outdoor cooking. On December 2020, the new microwave broke down, so while waiting for it to be repaired we brought the older Sharp microwave back into the kitchen. It still works as the same day it was purchased, no issues and we love it more than ever. We are still waiting for the manufacture of the newer microwave to get it repaired, while in the meantime our beloved Sharp microwave still kicking and cooking those occasional quick meals without any issues whatsoever.

I had a Sharp Microwave for years. Recently bought a new one 05/2020 and when I took out of the box and plugged in the light did not work, bought it from Best Buy during our Pandemic. Was told by Best Buy to bring it back in to be serviced, I kept it and dealt with the light not working. Then 3 months ago the plastic is coming away from the microwave just pulling back away near the handle. I was told by Sharp nothing they could do. Not under warranty. I have to throw this new microwave in the trash because no one can help me and someone in my family will be cut by this piece protruding plastic/metal. I will never ever buy Sharp again. Sharp microwave carousels last usually at least 10 years and they heat evenly and good. All the microwave manufacturers need to add welded handles like a lunch box type to the tops of the microwaves to make it easier to carry and I hate having to touch the metal on the bottom of the microwave. I have used other brands at work and college etc and I don't think sharp is the best one and I will be looking for one that is easier to move around.

This carousel-style microwave oven is very easy to use, very user friendly. The amount of time recommended for reheating food is a little off - for example, if you go by the setting for 1 serving of soup, the food could be way overheated. The same is true for pizza.
