A few years ago we purchased the St. James dining table, and immediately had issues upon delivery. One of the leaf inserts had damage on it, however customer service sent someone to touch it up. The service person left a stain pen for any future issues. Shortly thereafter, similar damage began appearing on the main tabletop, which has only gotten worse and worse. I’ve tried touching it up, but not only does the stain color not match the original, but the damaged sections are so large it’s impossible to cover. I have never used any harsh chemical or abrasive cleaner on this table. The care instructions said to use a damp cloth and that’s what we use.

We do not use coasters, but this was not recommended in the care instructions and honestly shouldn’t be expected for a dining table. Nonetheless RH has refused to warrant the table in any way. They will not send someone to repair the finish, and will not exchange the product. The table is only 3 or 4 years old and looks awful. At a minimum I would expect a repair or reimbursement. The stain type and depth should be of higher quality. This table is MUCH too expensive to only last a few years.

I know that people who are unhappy tend to write reviews, but I'm amazed when I see negative reviews for Restoration Hardware. Not only are their products superlative, but our experience with their customer service is almost not to be believed, it was so good. We bought a sofa, and we love it. But, what we didn't really pay attention to was the taco effect of the fabric we chose. For months since we bought it, RH at U Village in Seattle has been helping us to determine how to handle it. I'm frankly blown away with the over the top concern and efforts they have made to make it right for us. And they did. I won't go into the details, but frankly, if I was on the other side of me, I would have told me to shut up and sit down. They instead treated us like royalty. I can't over emphasize how happy this company has made us, and what loyal customers we are now as a result.

I don't know why I keep going back to Restoration Hardware, it is psychological. I keep expecting good results and almost always end up with poor quality product. I purchased 3 bathroom vanities and one came with stain issues, almost like they forgot to stain one drawer. I unfortunately did not noticed because my general contractor took the order. I called to complain and was told this was my fault, I should have checked at delivery. I gave them this one. I have since ordered a kitchen table, it is currently one month old and nearly half the stain is rubbed off. I ordered the world famous cloud couch in leather and the back is pushing out in three different areas where we sit. It is almost like it has no proper back support.

I also ordered two custom chairs for the living room, one was lost and they told me it was my fault because I canceled the order..one I already paid for and they actually charged me a cancelation fee. Bonus, I still do not have the missing chair or what I paid for it. I have spent so much of my time and money and I am tired of companies like this delivery poor quality for top dollar. When and they will mess up orders, they make sure it is the customers fault.

I purchased the Arles rectangular dining room table with two leaves in oak gray. A guest accidentally caused some damage to the paint by placing his laptop over it on a cloth mat and the heat melted the paint. I was furious because that is telling of the quality of the paint. I have a less costly table in my family room where we even do arts and crafts on it and it’s in mint condition. I called RH hoping they could offer some solution or assistance in helping me fix the damage. It only needs to be resurfaced, the area is about a 3 inch diameter. But who? Where? What paint? They did not care. I just could not believe that their customer service would be so awful and unhelpful. I’m done buying from them, so much for their annual membership, they could at least reveal the paint color or finish I need to purchase to have it resurfaced.

I purchased fabric by the yard based on a fabric swatch I ordered from the website. I didn't check the color closely when my fabric arrived and dropped it off at an upholsterer to have some chairs recovered. When my newly upholstered chairs were delivered, I noticed the "carbon" vintage velvet fabric that was dark gray on my swatch looked blue on my chairs. I got another swatch of the same material to see which color was most correct, and the new swatch was a light gray this time.

I called and emailed RH several times to request that the material be replaced - I shared photos of the issue and each time asked to escalate my complaint to someone at a higher level that could help me. My appeals went nowhere - I was told "it is our determination that this is an acceptable shade within the Vintage Velvet" and that all the different samples I had were within an "acceptable tolerance". I was surprised that a retailer that shows so many different shades of beige and gray would find this variation acceptable. My experience and the lack of customer service I received was extremely disappointing.

I bought a sofa from RH 2 years ago. The cost was 4k. I tried this sofa in the showroom several times before I decided to buy it. I also bought it because it was attractive and comfortable. I had some concerns that it could lose support with time the way it's built but the salesperson assured me that it won't happen with time.. Right after the new sofa was delivered I sat on it and I realized that it felt different than on a sofa I tried in the showroom. The showroom sofa felt much more comfortable and supportive. By the way, I only weigh 128 lbs, yet my butt sinks into the cushions a lot. I can't tell you how my mom felt. She is a bit bigger than me and she completely avoids sitting on it, so are my parents-in-law...

I feel bad I didn't reach out to the company back then when I had those feelings. Because with a time sofa became even more uncomfortable and without any support. Only 2 years have passed and now when I sit on it I am sinking into the seat cushion quite a bit AND this is not comfortable, and is giving me lower back pain. This becomes more intense when I sit longer on the sofa. Outcome- we don't use our sofa in the living room, nobody wants to sit on it. I reached out to the company and they are not willing to help. They asked me to send photos, which i did and they estimated sofa to be normal, without any defects! Haha. They estimated this based on the photos. Funny right?! It looks okay indeed, but when you sit on it then you actually learn the issue..

After numerous emails back and forth they sent me new pillow inserts which turned out to be wrong size! I learned today they discontinued making the sofa I bought - obviously I am probably not the only one complaining about it. !! Be AWARE! Never buy expensive furniture from Restoration Hardware!!!! Very disappointed!!!

We ordered the Laguna Bed and Laguna Large Dresser for our son. Nothing here seems to be made of real wood anymore. The bed and the dresser we made of some type of fake wood and glue and paint to make it look like wood. The smell, oh the smell! I can't put into words how strong and toxic the smell was. With the windows open, it enveloped the room. My wife and I have headaches and felt sick being around the furniture. Even after leaving the room, my headache did not cease.

After taking the old furniture out and putting the new in, all of it had to be removed that same night and put outside. Even after the furniture was gone, the next day, you could still smell the toxic smell in the room. I do not know where these people get off selling toxic products like this, to kids no less! It is no wonder cancer is so prevalent, these companies just do not care about our health and wellness. It is time to start boycotting this type of behavior and these types of products and the companies making them. This bed is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, if you can believe that! What a lie and a joke it all is!

Beautiful store and furniture in the showroom. We furnished our living room, dining room and master bedroom with their products, at great expense. Delivery time was quite delayed and the pieces do not seem to be at all at the same level of quality as the showroom furniture. Colors have faded/ changed; grey has become an awful green. Finish on the wood is flaking and quickly deteriorating. Quite disappointing for us; we complained and were insulted when they send a tiny vial of paint to touch up the flaking areas. I’ve since been told by those in the design trade that RH uses different manufacturers for their display pieces than for what they actually send to customers. Will never buy from them again.

We chose the suede leather because it resisted cat scratches which is true but had no idea it would stain so incredibly easily. We now we have blankets over the furniture daily for protection but they look terrible. After over $5K we cannot even enjoy them. I begged my husband for years for a beautiful new sofa and now this. I’m heartbroken. Contacted store and they offered no help but a company to call for cleaning. What’s the point? It will happen again if they are left uncovered. Restoration Hardware used to be known for their quality and customer service. Not any more. In the last few months, I've ordered two items that have not lived up to my expectations. The first was a fan that was not the quality that I had expected from them but it works ok. I found the exact same fan later on the internet that was half the price and free shipping. Resto does not have free shipping. The second was a rug that within two months had started to come apart. It is a traditional oriental rug.

I have 7 other hand-knotted all wool rugs in my house - some older than 25 years. They all look exceptionally good. The expensive hand-knotted 100% wool rug from Restoration Hardware does not look good after 2 months. I wrote to them about the issues it was having and they just blamed me for it and told me there was nothing they could do. If I'm so hard on rugs why do all my other rugs still look so good? I highly recommend that you do not buy anything from Restoration Hardware.

I recently remodeled a room in my home and purchased several items from Restoration Hardware. I had two main issues that were handled poorly by them. The first was a lamp that was ordered with a delivery date of 1 month after I placed my order. A few days before the lamp was scheduled to arrive, I received a notice that there was a 7 month delay! When I called to discuss the issue, they could not supply a reason why this occurred nor did they offer anything to compensate. It appears they are selling items they don't even have.

The second issue was concerning the drapes I ordered. I requested fabric swatches and chose a fabric that they sent to have made into drapes. The material snags so easily that they already look bad and they have been hanging for less than 2 months. The material never should have been offered as a drapery fabric, it is unsuitable for this use. When I called to discuss and try to get another set of drapes in another fabric, I was told that they could not do this because the drapes were a special order, although I'm not sure why since they were a standard size. Again, no offer to try and do something to work thru the situation with me.

The entire experience with them was disappointing, I spent a lot of money with them over the course of 3 months to remodel this room and chose to do business with what I thought was a reputable brand, but they were a huge disappointment. I would not recommend spending the money for RH, they don't stand behind their products or service.

We’ve used RH for many rooms...we like the style and we like their design branch yet without fail, with each purchase there has always been an issue with the furniture requiring replacement and/or repair. The latest and now for us the final RH purchase was a sofa and 2 swivel chairs. The purchase was custom made. With covid there has been no home entertaining and the swivel chair item has not been used as we use the TV/family room instead.

A couple of weeks after purchase a red, rust like stain appeared from under the crease where the back meets the seat. The seat has no red staining. We have not used this seat, do not have young children and have certainly not eaten or drunk anything in this room which is currently not being used. RH unwilling to take any responsibility. With our other poor experiences in mind it’s time to move on and find a better furniture supplier. Don’t waste your money or time with this company. You’re buying into a magazine lifestyle but the reality is shoddy materials, shoddy workmanship and time consuming replacements and/or repairs. Look elsewhere.

Do not shop here! They are the "Xfinity" of furniture stores. After several backorders on a VERY expensive sectional sofa that they GUARANTEED was going to get to me by early July, it continues being back-ordered, and they switched vendors. When I was concerned about whether the quality would be the same, the manager (Mark) condescendingly told me that "well they haven't had any complaints", but insisted that if I wasn't satisfied with the quality I had no recourse.

Furthermore, I probably spent 4 hours on hold and trying to contact managers with the issues and left probably 6-7 messages for a manager to call me back without response. Now, I finally decided to cancel the order after months of back and forth, was confirmed that it would be cancelled and refunded, and a week later they charged my card AGAIN ELEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! I'm trying to book a flight to visit a friend dying of cancer and my card is maxed because I wasn't anticipating $11,000 on it! For a sofa I cancelled!!! By the time we received it we were almost ready to leave this home (summer home) for our other home. We spent just under $3000. By the next summer (2019) it was clearly losing some of its top layer. There were spots on the edges that snagged knit clothing. I contacted RH with photos. I was told it was “the nature” of the veneer and that I could purchase a refinishing kit. Seriously? This is a home with adults and the table is always used with placemats. By this summer (2020) the table is just getting worse. It looks like junk. Over the years we’ve spent a LOT of $ at RH. The dust cloth can hang on the front on the snags. I am so annoyed about this - I want to return all. Love the distressed finished. The customer service has been superb in regard to delivery - we are under construction and had to changed the date numerous times - sometimes even days before. We have 13' ceilings - and they list 102" as an option for the hutches. However, when we went to place the actually order - after the fact (ordered the table long before) Only 1 finish comes in that size. The store assistant was very helpful, I found a style that I liked, with dimensions that worked. I should have been more cautious when the fabric I liked in the swatch book was no longer available, but I found another that looked good and placed the order. 3 months later, the $4,800 couch I ordered arrived, I was disappointed the moment I saw it. The quality of the fabric was terrible, there were flaws in the grey weave that made white threads stand out. Not at all like the swatch. The texture of the fabric was rougher than the swatch. The legs on the couch were the roughest legs I have ever seen, far coarser than those at a local hardware store. To my further dismay, there is so little support in the seat of the couch my butt sinks too deep into it and it's uncomfortable. I don't recall the couch in the showroom feeling this soft.

I called RH the day the couch arrived and complained about the fabric flaws, I sent in pictures too. I am supposed to receive notification as to whether they can repair the fabric flaws or replace the couch. Since there is no return policy, and there doesn't even appear to be a warranty document on the RH website, I don't have confidence that this couch will be repaired or replaced. Even if it's replaced, the basic workmanship is so poor that I am very disappointed that I spent so much money in that store.

I ordered a couch from RH in 2007, the 96" ORIGINAL LANCASTER UPHOLSTERED SOFA in 2013. When it first arrived, I noticed that the seat cushions protruded from the sofa frame by quite a bit, about 2 inches. I called the store and was told that that's the way the couches are made (I wouldn't have bought it if that's the way it presented in the store). A few years later, in 2017, I was in their store browsing and noticed that none of their couches' seat cushions protrude in that manner so I approached one of the salespeople and told him about my couch. He told me to send him pictures and he will take a look, which I did and after a few email exchanges with him, he said he was going to send the complaint to corporate customer service. I never heard back from him or customer service.

Not long after that exchange I started to notice the seat support waning and not offering much support at all. When I took the seat cushions off, there was a section of the couch that had completely given way. The support was non-existent. Something had collapsed under there. I can't see exactly what since there is the cloth over it but I can feel the springs not connected anymore...so I called RH again, this time their corporate number.

After a few email exchanges and the woman supposedly "escalating" the problem, she came back with "the recommendation is that you contact Guardsman, a furniture repair company that is familiar with our products." And also, "Also, there is no record of any issues with your sofa before your telephone call on Wednesday, April 8th." So I sent her the email chain of my previous conversation with the shop employee and never heard back from her. Poor quality furniture and poor customer service. That's all I have to say. Never shopping there again for anything and certainly not worth the high prices that they charge. About 1 year ago I spent over $10,000 on various items from Restoration Hardware. I worked with a representative in the store to pick out pieces and plan a layout for my home. Initially I was happy with the service I received. After that there were many issues and RH customer service did not meet my expectations.

    1. The table was delivered with defects.
    2. One of the chairs had a large splintering piece of wood from the seat
    3. The top of the coffee table I ordered started fading and chipping away.

    4. Delivery of many items took a lot longer than initially quoted.

When I spoke with an RH rep regarding these issues I was dismissed again and again with the response that there was nothing that they could (or would) do. When furniture is so expensive you expect that at least the quality of the items will be up to par. Unfortunately this is not the case with RH.

I ordered the Maxwell sofa & chaise lounge February 2019 and received it in May 2019. The sofa had a flaw in the fabric so RH said they would replace it after I sent photos to them. In July 2019 I received the replacement sofa/chaise and the chaise had a seam running across the center of the seat cushion (which was not there on the original chaise). Once again they agreed to replace after sending them photos of the first & second chaise I received (one with the seam and one without). Upon receiving the third sofa/chaise several weeks again (November 2019), the chaise still had the seam and I refused delivery. I have spoken to numerous customer service reps who now tell me the chaise now comes with a seam; however, I was referred back to the RH showroom sales person and am still awaiting a response to see how this matter will be resolved.

I figured out how to adjust the brightness! Now I’m more satisfied with my purchase.

    Original Review: Oct. 29, 2019

I purchased 4 of these LED brass lamps. Overall, although they are pretty good lamps, they are not worth $500 each! And yes they are made in China, although you won't find that on the RH website, where it just says "Imported".

    Pros:
    - They look good.
    - They are heavy and feel very solid.
    - The light is bright and it’s a comfortable color temperature.

    - The cord material is high quality and it’s a good length.

    Cons:
    - Of the 4 lamps I bought, two of them came with yellow plastic wrapping material jammed into the retracting part of the lamp. This made it very difficult to remove the wrapping and extend one of the lamps, and impossible on another (I returned it).
    - The light is almost TOO bright - it's brighter than the several similar older halogen lamps we plan on replacing with these.
    - Also there is no brightness adjustment - on or off is all you get.
    - Only height can be adjusted. The head doesn’t rotate or swivel, so aiming the light is limited.
    - The pole is not perfectly vertical on two of the lamps.
    - The lamp head droops down a tiny bit on one of the lamps.

(The last two issues above are really only noticeable when I place several lamps side by side).

Basically I think these would be great lamps for $200 or $300. But for $500, not so much. To make them worth the price they need to have swiveling heads and more than one (very bright) brightness level.

I spent thousands of dollars purchasing a sofa, loveseat and ottoman in the Belgium linen with down cushions. The first order had to be returned because of fabric quality and because the sofa squeaked like an antique piece. The second order had to be returned because of another squeaky sofa. I would have just cancelled the order at this point, but "custom" orders cannot be returned.

The furniture looks good until you actually USE IT. The cushions flatten out and the fabric looks baggy and, the squeak is back in the loveseat. Meanwhile, I'm still making payments on this garbage. My daughter had a spill on the sofa cushion. I was thankful that I had spent extra money on the "spill proof" coating, but of course this is a joke as well. It did not simply "blot" up. (The spill was a quarter sized blob of Coke) My attempt to clean it left an ugly, noticeable stain mark.

Given the insane amount of money I spent on this sofa I reasoned that RH would offer a cushion cover replacement at a reasonable price. HA!!!!! $600 for a 48" x 36" box spring cushion cover. By my best estimate, this cover would cost them $60 at most to construct (IN CHINA). Everything they sell, by the way, is made in China. I am glad that I found a place to vent my frustration about Ripoff Hardware. Notice that they don't offer ANY reviews of their products on their website because they know the injustice of selling an inferior product for an astronomical price!!

RODENT INFESTATION!!!! It took me a couple of days to think about how I wanted to summarize my experience. All I could come up with is Horrific! On Saturday, 9/28th, I received my second delivery of the same item (a sofa) damaged for the second time in a row. The sofa arrived fully boxed up in its original packaging filled with rodent feces. The sofa was stained throughout. Inside the cushions were rodent droppings. It was so alarming and incredibly sickening to have an infested product be delivered to my home.

All of the droppings ended up on my carpet and floor which required me to immediately clean it. I am heartbroken that my family and I have had to live without our living room sofa for this long. The first time, the sofa was damaged because of a seam cut. The second delivery of the products was laced with a rodent infestation. I've had to entertain friends feeling embarrassed that I still don't have a sofa. I recommend that RH implement some type of quality-control inspection cadence for all outgoing deliveries. Had the warehouse completed a full inspection, that product should have never been allowed on the truck or entered my home.

When I share this horrific story for family members, they immediately asked.."where did you order the sofa from?" My response is almost met with disbelief and shock that it is an RH product. At this point, I feel like it's been a losing battle and I should cancel my order altogether. If I had not purchased a lounge chair that compliments the sofa so well, I probably would just give up in disgust.

Where to start. Ordered over $50,000 worth of furniture from RH. The deliveries were not all at once because items were arriving at different times. The day my large marble top table was supposed to be delivered the crew showed up and said, "The table is really heavy - 700 lbs. and we can't move it in. We're taking it back to the warehouse or we can put it in your garage and you can schedule another delivery." They said I would hear back that day to reschedule. 2 days later still nothing so I called and they said they would be there the next day. SAME THING HAPPENED the next day - 2 drivers, said "we'll be back," never heard from them.

I got a call that they would be there the next morning and I said, "Are you SURE you are sending a 4 man team?" They said, "Yes of course." Well the next day 3 guys show up and try to give me the same speech. I said, "Just get the table set up. This is crazy." They were completely incompetent. They didn't know how to use the dolly or straps, barely rolled the table through the door, spent over an hour on the phone complaining to the warehouse. At this point they said they were missing all the hardware for the base - my maintenance man was on site and ran to the store, bought hardware and put the base together himself. After literally hours of the guys standing in the dining room talking about how to put the top on my employee walked over and said, "Each one of you take a corner now." He grabbed a corner and said, "Lift." They lifted it onto the table...

Now they had to install 2 bedrooms of furniture. It took them approx. 1.5 hours to put a simple metal frame bed together. I had to show them how to put the slats in because they said they didn't fit. The frame was crooked and when I shifted it into place the slats slid in perfectly. In the second room I gave them a tape measure and asked them to simply center the bed on the wall. When I came in to check they were eyeballing it. I took out the tape measure and it was off by 7 inches. The main guy said "it's not our job to measure."

Now my second morning. Room table arrived yesterday... When I got the call to schedule I explained what happened with the last delivery and was told not to worry, that was very out of character and would never happen again. The delivery drivers arrived and used the EXACT SAME SCRIPT as the last delivery people. They said, "It’s 500 lbs. Too heavy, we will take it back to the shop and you can get it another day. Can we store it in your garage?" They said that CUSTOMER SERVICE tells them to take the items to the customer’s even though they are fully aware they cannot install them with a 2 person team.

To make matters worse they PROMISED they would be back later in the day yesterday with 2 more guys to bring the table in. I waited ALL DAY and never received a call and of course they did not return! It's now a day later, NO PHONE CALL, NO COMMUNICATION, NOTHING. I will never purchase anything from this company again. Their customer service and delivery is the WORST! I had another store - Living Spaces delivery a lot of other furniture for my house which is MUCH more affordable and the delivery went flawlessly!!!

My god we have the most luxurious RH towels that cost the same as Target towels! Literally the only thing we paid even close to retail was a 10ft Maxwell destroyed leather couch which our RH membership discount, plus a sale knocked off 3k from the 7,700k price making it totally affordable.

Have any of you fools even considered checking out the outlets? WTF? Who would pay 27k for 4 prices of RH crap? Outlets have so much great stuff and have 50% of sales monthly on top of the already steep discount. My wife just bought a 3k bed frame for her sisters as a house warming from the outlet outside Austin. Price? $550! It was a typical outlet return with a slight scratch that was easily fixed and now my wife is a hero and her sister is thrilled. Besides the RH outlets check, out Craigslist or eBay. People get rid of overpriced RH stuff all the time. Why pay the ridiculously high prices when with just a bit of effort you can save $1000's and your house looks like you have money to burn. No wonder you people are all so mad, I'd be mad too if I was such a sucker! We LOVE RH but only because we pay what it's worth, not what they con you into paying.

Stemware would fall if set down across this ridge. Not to mention that it was unattractive and hurt your hand if you slid it across this area.

Client services repeatedly argued with me that this was a "celebrated" feature (a line taken straight from their online product description) and not a flaw. We bought this table for the time worn features; the knots, splits, and cracks but it is reasonable to expect the table to be functional. We spoke with someone and related that the nursery was under construction and we would need it delivered in mid-June. Restoration Hardware had no problem with this, and said that they could deliver it when we needed it. We chose a date of 6/19/19, and they scheduled it. This morning I saw that my credit card was officially charged and figured this meant the delivery was a go, until my pregnant best friend called me crying. Apparently they never set up a confirmation of delivery with her, so she called to find out a time frame they would be delivering between. This was when she was informed that there was a problem and they would not be able to deliver to her for another two to three weeks.

That's great to tell a woman who is about to pop, and will not have a crib for her child. I then proceeded to call them and ask what was going on, and explained everything from the beginning. I was put on a two minute hold, and when the Customer Service Representative got back on the phone she said that there had been a computer glitch and that there was nothing she could do. I told her that doesn't help me much, or the fact that my friend could pop at any second, and she said to call back when the crib was delivered so that they could compensate me in some manner. I am really curious to see what they are going to be able to do, and when the final delivery of the crib will take place, but I can say that I was just about to buy new furniture from them, and will not be anymore. I am less than thrilled about what a nightmare this has turned into, and I am hoping that the baby holds out until she has a bed to sleep in. Ridiculous.

The delivery people unloaded the boxes, and tried to deliver, but couldn't fit the bed up the stairs and so packed up the bed and drove away. They didn't call and ask what I wanted them to do, they just left and I saw this on the camera so I called and asked where they were going. They said, "Oh it didn't fit so we are taking it back." I asked them to please turn around and go back to leave it and I would figure out how to get the bed placed in the house. Then I had the bed removed from packaging and installed after which point I noticed that the footboard was cracked. I called them to please come and take the cardboard away and they said they would and then never showed up....So I have about 150 pounds of packing material in my garage AND a broken bed.

Restoration Hardware's response "the delivery company followed proper procedure. The only thing they didn't do was pick up the cardboard and so we will credit you $150 for that (because I have to pay to have it removed) but the damage is your problem because once they drove away, it became your responsibility and now we can't tell if the party you had put it together broke the bed or not." I will NEVER order anything from this company again. Their service is terrible and their quality clearly isn't all that great. About $3000 later and very unhappy customer.

I purchased six full sets of expensive linen sheets, including duvet covers, for my higher end Airbnb. Within one year of using them, and carefully caring for them, I had two incidents where there were large areas of discoloration on the pillowcases. I noticed this in both cases right after the guests checked out, and before washing them. After the first incident, I took the pillowcase to my dry cleaner and he confirmed that the areas were discolored, and not stained. He believes a product such as a face lotion or a hair product caused the discoloration of the fabric.

After the second incident, this time on three pillowcases, I contacted RH for help, and sent photos of the damaged pillowcases. After numerous follow-up emails on my end was told that I must have bleached the pillowcases and therefore they weren't going to help. Basically, the rep was accusing me of lying and closed the case. After receiving this email I contacted RH again and asked a new rep if it's possible that products such as lotions or hair products can pull the dye from the pillowcases, and she said that it was, but that RH doesn't consider this a defect. She actually suggested I charge my guest for the damage. Really? An innocent person that simply put his favorite product in his hair or on his face that day, and then went to sleep?

I have washed and cared for these sheets with the same gentle detergent, in a gentle cycle with cold water. I don't even have bleach in my home. These were very expensive sets of sheets and now have two incomplete sets. I would not recommend purchasing from Restoration because they do not stand behind their products, and there is nothing professional about their 'customer support'.

Shockingly poor quality. I’ve ordered a few items over the years from RH. A side chair that sat in my living room in the corner, unused for the most part. One day my 100 lb son sat down on it and the leg snapped and he and the chair fell to the floor. According to RH, this isn’t a manufacturing defect. Ok. Another time recently I bought an entire set of RH luxury towels in French blue. The color immediately began to run and the fabric pulled. I emailed and was able to exchange them, assuming it was a defect with that batch because RH towels are often rated so highly (must be reviews for their initial feel which is admittedly heavy and absorbent).

The second batch quickly began to discolor and pull as well - so much so that they will be turned into rags within a year of purchase. RH refuses to admit any defects when I contacted them, and said I must be washing them incorrectly. I emailed photos of other towels I’ve washed the same way that have held up for years - no response from RH. Their goods are well marketed junk.

Competitor - coworker recommended I look at RH - I fell in love with a table and found what I thought the perfect chairs to accompany. When I say apathy... our associate couldn't have been more disinterested in the entire process. When tallied, our purchase was to be just over $7,000. maybe not enough to inspire interest from the hourly help? She told us about a couple of chair models they had in stock. Mind you - they carry a very small selection in Short Hills - not representative of the entire line.

I wasn't loving the chairs she had. I kept asking... don't you have something with a roll-back top? I think it's called French something??? Nooo. Eventually after about 1/2 hour of dissatisfaction with the chairs - one can feel the framework underneath the cushion. When we thought one model had a shorter seat span - no proffer of a tape measure or a thought she might share with us... Eventually she found the chairs I described - way at the bottom of their website. She stated "it's way down at the bottom because nobody buys these chairs". Are all of their clients sheep following the standard set by the merchandise only displayed in the store? What would be the purpose of customizing and the catalog then?

When I was just about reluctantly ready to purchase, my husband voiced that he thought we should just check "E.A." one more time to be sure. When confronted with the professionalism of our associate at that store, and their efforts to customize to our satisfaction - we bought on the spot. After reading these reviews... I am so appreciative that my husband wanted to go back to the other store. Can't wait to see our holidays on this new set! Thanks RH - for being the most apathetic sales force I can imagine - oh, and "no warranties!", but they "stand behind their products"... not so much from what I am reading on this site. For some reason the customer service agent was careful not to call it a back order. She instead called it a “137 day lead time." I think Restoration Hardware probably knows I wouldn’t have ordered outdoor furniture in May from them if I knew it wouldn’t arrive until late August. While working at the Westport, CT store #107, from the time it opened in 1997/8 ish until 2011... From original owner and creator Stephen Gordon through many different owners/administrations/iterations/changing from a great place to find unusual hardware, furnishings, awesome bath towels, Art Deco and Mission Style furniture, pine, and Cherry as well! Great selection of books, window coverings and hardware, living room and dining room furniture all normal human sized furniture before the development of the McMansions advance across the countryside. At that time we were proud to say all of our furniture was 100% American made.

I purchased a beautiful bedroom set, 2 bedside tables stupidly designed with a single drawer over a gigantic open void with rope trim, made of some unidentifiable wood everywhere but the insides of the drawers which were cedar, nice! We bought the king sized bed with a high panel headboard with the rope trim and corners topped by spherical finials. Makes you feel like royalty! The bed had wood side rails joining the headboard to the footboard, also paneled with finials, just high enough to be flush with the mattress! Throw in the huge 11 drawer bureau; all furniture painted/stained black and accessorized with bronze hardware - hanging, swinging handles whose ends were held in place by two pegs with openings for the handle ends, the pegs held in place with little decorative disks.

Okay... After approximately 4 months (after the usual nightmare of the headboard arriving cracked and scratched and waiting only another month for the replacement) the handles started to break off and the screws and some pegs needed replacement. I went to the employee (Stock Manager) who was in charge of ordering replacement parts. He was an ageist, sexist, chauvinist, attitudinally abusive guy in his 20’s who made it a hellish experience to request anything from him. I asked him to order 10 replacement handle sets for my furniture. Well, he threw a bag in the counter about a month later which I verbally confirmed with him was the replacement hardware sets... “Well, that’s what you ordered isn’t it?” Was the response.

Now, 13 years later, one moving truck later, the bureau stands partially filled, I pull out the bag of hardware to find only the swinging part of the handle set x 10 in there... NO PIECES TO COMPLETE THE SET to actually Attach in place to once again have a functional drawer instead of using a knitting needle to open the drawers! Also, the bedside table is totally cracked and splitting with the paint/finish coming off. There has been no activity or actions to suggest a reason for this!

I dust and polish or wax my furniture once a week! The only thing I keep on the table is a book or pair of glasses and a lamp.

The policy which was in place at the time of purchase was “Anything, anytime, for any reason, even without a receipt, Restoration Hardware will credit you in the manner you purchased it. And do everything at all possible to make it a pleasant experience, because we truly want you to understand that. The customer is always right!” Well, my experience upon going back to the Westport store, was to get the response of “there’s nothing I can do” “we don’t carry that furniture anymore” (this was after another ultra rude woman/Manager I spoke to in the phone insisted there had never been any such style of bedroom set ever sold by Restoration Hardware EVER).

As a matter of fact the company that manufactured the furniture is OWNED by Restoration Hardware!! Also... For everyone’s information... Restoration hardware furniture is now produced in China... Because of cheap labor... But doesn’t pass the savings onto the customer! The manager (who actually performed no activity but to keep repeating with a pleasant not present expression “There’s nothing I can do for you!”), didn’t offer any sort of solution to the problems... I.e., call the furniture maker to see if they could take a look through the back stock of various extra oddball pieces in the stockroom and get back with an answer. OR, pay for replacement hardware and all of the patching, staining drilling costs to provide matching hardware for the entire set, someone to repair the bedside table top.

She wouldn’t even make any effort other than to suggest I buy replacement hardware, drill new holes, etc. which I wouldn’t do myself, I’d get a carpenter to do it successfully. Nope they wouldn’t pay for that. Wouldn’t pay for a can of furniture putty and some paint either. I said I was very sorry but she didn’t seem to be making any effort to even attempt to think of the right thing to do. She then said “well, then what do you want to do.” And I then said “well, then I want to return the entire set for a refund.” “I can’t do that... We don’t make that set any longer. So I can’t replace it.” I replied “Why makes you think I’d want another set when you won’t make any effort to resolve the problems that have occurred? I’m thinking I’ll just take everything apart and walk it all in through the front doors one busy Saturday and drop it all in the floor. And put my hand out for my refund.”

She says “ I can’t give you a refund...” I ask “what do you mean... You are not going to honour your return policy? I don’t even see any return policy posted at all which is illegal not to have it prominently and legibly posted for the customer to read! When I purchased this set the policy was...” Then... Here’s the kicker. She looks up at me and says “... it’s OLD!” So is Louis XV furniture. Isn’t the furniture I purchase for that price expected to not require replacement every few years due to lack of quality? Most people replace furniture due to change of decor and then they pass the original furniture to their kids! What does that statement mean? I’m not giving it to her as a birthday gift!!! Next chapter is in the wings.

This chandelier is beautiful but impossible to hang. The thin steel safety cable provided to hang 168 pound chandelier broke. The screw for the brass plate that was instrumental to hang this chandelier broke. One of the canopy screws broke. (That could mean 168 pounds of glass falling on someone's head.) The fixture cords frayed. The glass globes rained tiny shards of glass whenever they gently touched each other, which must happen to tediously ensure the globes are level. After 12 hours, our 2 experienced electricians stopped. While RH took the chandelier back without issue, we needed to have the holes in the ceiling repaired and ceiling repainted. This rating falls far below 1 star--a very poorly designed!

They will not replace or even offer a discount to replace it. They say it is due to the age of the piece. Restoration Hardware refused my cancellation and wanted to me to lose 3000 USD as per their contract. I called them up to explain the stupidity of the situation, their excellent service asked me if I could read English as their only answer. A few days later I called them back to let them know that I will take the chairs to put them in another house, they simply answered that it was too late. Over the past year, we did a complete renovation of our home and purchased new furniture. We chose a couch, master bath hardware, master bed, and living room rug, all from Restoration Hardware. There are problems with all... and the service. We initially told them what date they could deliver the master bed after, since we were still under construction and did not want it in the basement. We let them know if they needed to deliver prior to that date, we would give them the address to the air conditioned storage unit where they delivered our couch. They delivered the bed prior to the date, and let a construction worker sign for it, all the while we never received the phone call it was being delivered.

We complained and demanded they pick it up because it was likely to be damaged. They agreed. They decided to pick it up and deliver a new one all at the same time, when the air conditioning was set up and the house ready. When the time came, they did pick it up but brought TWO beds at that time. It took us months to negotiate them picking up the second bed which was brought by mistake. Then when we assembled everything, the bolt holes didn’t match up. It took us hours to assemble a king size bed that had 4 pieces, and we had to leave a couple bolts not tightened as they did not line up properly. The master shower was sent with the wrong rough in piece.

The plumber had to call and get another delivered, but by that time, the shower had been tiled and the drywall had to be busted out and redone from behind the wall. The shower head had so little pressure, it dribbled out and we had to remove the flow restrictor just to get a decent pressure. The couch...after 7 months, it looks wrinkly and worn like we’ve had it for 10 years. The bottom cushion never was taught with the fabric like the picture shows and the sample in the showroom. When we called about it, they said it was because we had it in storage. Now- keep in mind, we had it in air conditioned storage completely wrapped up in the original packaging. They told us to steam it and it would tighten up.

That did not work. The rug...it’s awful. Probably the WORST purchase EVER made. It is a basketweave rope wool rug. My designer picked it out. When it was delivered and set up, I requested the paperwork on it for care and maintenance as I did not order it. The delivery guys had no paperwork whatsoever. My cleaning lady vacuumed it and it immediately started falling apart. I called the service manager and explained the issue. She said it was because we vacuumed it with the beater bar.

I explained that I requested care info at delivery and they had none. She agreed to replace the rug and advised me on the care, vacuum suction only. We received the replacement the day before Thanksgiving, and by Christmas it looked exactly the same as the first rug regardless of following the care instructions. It’s the worst rug I’ve ever seen. It looks “fuzzy”, leaves tufts of fluff all over the house, and is falling apart. So much for paying $4000 on a stupid rug. I have to throw it away and it’s not even a year old. Overall, I am unhappy with EVERY purchase we made from Restoration Hardware and will not be shopping there again.

Restoration Hardware gives the illusion of high quality to get your money. After that you're on your own. I first ordered a set of the Belgian Linen sheets about 4 years ago and after a year they'd developed holes in the middle of the fitted sheet. I was sent a replacement set when I contacted customer service and I assumed it was a fluke and not indicative of the general quality of Restoration Hardware linens. That said, now, less than 6 months after the purchase of a second pair of these sheets I'm having the same issues as before. I make sure to delicately wash and air dry these sheets every time so I'm certain it isn't the care. But even still I would hope a set of sheets could last more than 6 months. Don't waste your money on any products from them! I just emailed customer service about this last set and all I got was a $50 credit and I get to keep my crappy sheets. Yay thanks, RH.

Parts are now shiny which lets me see that the coating is coming off revealing the shiny marble. I called and was told that perhaps I did not follow the directions only clean with water. I did spray it once with a marble polish: RH gave me the number of a furniture repairer and no, this is my problem. I live alone and when I say little use, I mean that. RH would not help with the expense to rectify this. I found a marble expert who was surprised that the finish was sprayed on. They told me how to remove the spray on finish. I will do this with acetone and then spray on a clear sealer. Whether or not you think RH should have been more helpful. I think that the product does not make sense as a dining room table.

My experience has been exactly like all the others, damaged pieces and extremely poor quality. Over less than a year the wood pieces have been cracking and the fabric is shedding. My 10k sofa, which we barely sit on, looks 10 years old. Many pieces were delivered broken and I even had a wall mirror delivered that had no means by which to hang it.

I can’t believe that furniture with these prices are so poorly constructed. I have come to the conclusion that their marketing department is brilliant, it’s the old smoke and mirrors. They must spend a fortune on their catalogs to make the rooms “look” so beautiful. Don’t be fooled like I was by how beautiful these rooms appear in the catalogs nor the gallery. THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE GETTING! Also DO NOT USE THEIR DESIGNERS. They are never around and their designs won’t blow you away, anyone with a good eye for style can do better. They try to work into your design pieces what that they are no longer going to be selling. You can probably get a college design major to do a better job.

Back in May, I received a source book from RHModern and in it I found a sofa I loved. It was vintage in style but looked modern with the fabric options and the walnut wood trim (per the sourcebook’s description and the website). Before I ordered it, I did all my research. I researched the different fabric types and the durability. I took the photo of the image and laid them next to other pieces of future in my house to see if the wood would match. Turns out it would, walnut would match very nicely in my home and mohair velvet in charcoal with go great with the back splash of my kitchen in the great room.

I called about the sofa to see if they had a model on the floor. They did not, but I spoke with a man who said he was at the source book photo shoot and the sofa looked great. I went into the store gallery with my daughter and we worked with a wonderful young lady who help us look at the fabric options and the colors. We laid the color swatches in natural light as well as just regular store lights. I wasn't sure so I took two fabric swatches home and sat with them and laid them in different lighting around my house as the fabric was the only thing I could choose for this particular pieces, besides what side I wanted the chaise lounge on (right or left). This is important because the wood was suppose to be walnut in color, so no need for me to ask about different wood color options, right?

After making a final decision, I went back to the store and made my order on June 12 and returned the swatches and purchased one more swatch of the color I would get on the sofa for my family to see. Then I went home. I was told that I would be contacted between July 10th -17th. By July 18th, I still had no word and received no call or email about the delivery. So I finally emailed and was told that the woman I was working with didn't work there anymore. Ok, fine, that happens a lot in retail, but you would think someone would have contacted me about the furniture order.

While on the phone with this new person (July 18th) who seem cavalier about the whole thing, she informed me that the item was on back order. I stated, "Well shouldn't someone have told me that." She replied with, "Well an email should have been sent out to you." So at this point I'm looking for emails from RH modern in my in my inbox. I proceed to tell the woman on the phone, that I did not receive an email. She stated that one should have gone out, and I said it hasn't and she said she would look into it.

On July 27 I finally received an email saying my order was delayed and that my new contact date to schedule delivery would be on or before Aug 13th. So almost month later than expected. So I wait. Finally I get contacted on Aug 11th saying that they would like to schedule delivery for Wednesday Aug 16th. Aug 16th arrives and we, my family, are very excited to finally have this new sofa. Once they unwrapped it and finished putting it in the right spot, I asked if I were to sign anything. They give me just a tablet and said sign with your figure. No one asked me to see if all was ok. Is this what you were expecting, are the colors right. All they said was to sign and on the tablet there were no words to be read, just a white space and a line. So I signed it (maybe that was my mistake) not sure.

So they leave and I'm looking at it now that it's in place and something is off. I can't quite place it. Why doesn't it match? What happened? Then I realize that the wood trim is black no walnut in color. At this point, I'm getting upset. How did this happen? Did I miss something in my ordering process? Did I over look such an important detail as black trim? So I go onto the website and look at the source book. Both the website and source book say walnut color trim. So why was mine black. Also when you just look with the naked at eye at the source book and website the trim is clearly brown in hue, not black.

I called the store that day and gave my complaint and grievance to a woman. She said, sorry about that, and that she would contact the vendor to see if that was the correct color. So I waited. Time passed and in this case if felt like forever. So I emailed her with photos of the black trim and with screen shots of their website in which is clearly states walnut trim finish.

She finally contacts me via email around 6:30 pm and states that her leader saw the prototype in person and that the finish she saw was a dark black walnut. And that she would be reaching out the vendor of this piece to confirm that this is the correct finish of the walnut or if the website needs to be updated. The latter statement to me says: that if the black finish I got was correct "walnut" color then their website was wrong and they should update, but also it's on them (RH and Vendor) for misrepresentation and they should pay the cost to fix or give full refund, not the half refund they give on custom orders.

She also went on to say that she would get in touch with me to see about what solutions they have for the warm brown walnut finish I was expecting and looking for. As of now, I haven't her back and it's now Friday Aug 18th. I did call yesterday and asked to speak with a manager who said he was aware of the situation and would have this woman call me back. I've had this sofa for 2 nights and 3 days now. We aren't sitting on it because if for some reason it needs to be return, we want to return it in the same condition in which I received it. I've even blocked off my living room, just to be on the safe side. So far my experience isn't going well, but we will see how they plan to remedy this problem. Especially since it was a $14,000+ purchase.

A little about me for character sake, if that helps. I'm a mom of 3 kids ages 12-16. Been married for 16 yrs to the same wonderful man. In our 3rd owned home together, why I wanted to splurge on a nice sofa. Volunteered since I was 10 yrs of age in various roles, was a girl scouts. Work in a church which I did not apply for, they offered the job to me or should I say, they said to me one day "We are going to start paying you" and ever since my work load has increased because I care about what I do.

This isn't my first time buying custom furniture though it is my first time having such an experience. Which is why I'm writing this review. I usually don't write reviews, but this experience has me typing away. All this to say, this will be my final purchase with RHModern and its affiliates. I would not recommend them to anyone, clearly more expensive doesn't mean better. On a plus note: the sofa itself is very beautiful and looks like a piece of art but with the trim in black does not fit the rest of my decor. I am sad.

I pulled up the corners and noticed rice size black larvae and dead flies between the rug and pad. I am horrified. I killed over a hundred flies in my house and there are more about to hatch. RH refunded my rug and delivery, but I still can't believe the quality of this $2,000 rug. I'm still sick about putting my family's health at risk with this rug obviously from India or China. I just want to warn others about this issue. Don't take the risk of buying from RH.

Moment they put it on the floor they made huge scratches. I refused to accept the table. After two weeks of waiting a new table was delivered to me and guess what it was even in worst condition than the first one. It looked like someone made cracks and scratches on it and store just smoothly restore it. Table looked horrible. I did send it back again. I don't know what to expect next.

There is a highly toxic smell coming from the drawers and the furniture in general. It has been over a week and it won't go away and is making both my husband and I dizzy and nauseous. The last bedroom furniture I purchased from them 5-6 years ago was beautifully lined with cedar and well made. I don't know where the furniture is being made now or how something so toxic could be imported to the US but, I will not order from them again. This is horrible!

I worked at RH in Westport from before it actually opened its doors with Richard Gordon at the helm through to Gary Friedman's destruction of true customer service and beyond for about 12 years. (I had a very low 4-digit employee #!) During that time - before 9/11 - my husband and I purchased the Blaine Bedroom Set with a king bed, 2 side tables and the 11-drawer bureau! At that time the policy was that you could return ANY PURCHASE at ANY TIME without even having a receipt, and you would receive the last price it sold for in cash, even if we no longer sold it! It was especially difficult to research items that were years old to find the UPC code to give the reimbursement, but no matter what, we ultimately were successful! The philosophy was "The Customer Is ALWAYS Right!" And we were always pleasant and persistent!

Now I have had reason to call the store in Westport to try to get some replacement bureau handles that were lost in a move and some sort of help regarding a cracking bedside table top. I provided my name, employee #, and name of the furniture set! The employee said that they didn't have it in their UPC reference book so it couldn't be replaced. Couldn't I just buy some new handles. Well. They are such an oddball size no one makes it! Not even RH.

I asked to speak to his manager to give him a break. She didn't "remember " them ever carrying Blaine furniture and she couldn't find anything under my # except a RETURN of the Blaine Headboard because it was broken. Aha! The Blaine did in fact exist!!! Then she said she didn't have any other things with the UPC #'s, and couldn't help any further since the table couldn't be replaced or new hardware from the manufacturer! And they didn't have the records which they ALWAYS kept in employee purchases! We are not finished yet!

I would expect much more decent service for a company who is trying to differentiate on quality and whose price point is what it is! I paid $6k for a couch. Delivery vendor is awful. I called to try and schedule a delivery and the woman didn't know how to contact her colleague who I had sent the COI. She got frustrated and hung up on me. I emailed the vendor three times asking what my delivery slot was and got no response! Then when the delivery finally got scheduled I stayed home for my time slot and the couch never showed up! Call customer service only for them to say "Yeah that happened to a customer this morning - she still hasn't received hers". You would think that they would learn from that experience and tell other customers that day that they were experiencing issues. I'll never shop here again.

My experience with Restoration Hardware was my first and quite possibly my last. I ordered a media system from their final sale. I was billed before the item was scheduled to be delivered, which I thought was odd because even Rooms To Go waits until it is delivered. Anyways, the delivery company calls to schedule date and said to expect a call in a couple of days to schedule delivery window, woman was okay, not rude but not friendly either. Delivery company calls like she said, and schedules the time frame for delivery.

Day of delivery, I get a phone call, same woman that scheduled the date says: "Did they call you?" then laughs and says it was damaged. "Do you still want it? call this # and tell them what happened." Really?? I have to call and explain? I called RH and explain and tell them to reverse the charges including the membership fee. Of course, the woman on the other end tries to talk me out of it. Bottom line, at their prices they should have a reputable delivery company that can handle all deliveries with class!

Before I begin with my own review, wanted to touch on "Allison from NY"'s review. It makes no sense. She says she received a throw as a gift and loved it so much that she bought 4 more. When she washed the one she received as a gift, it was basically ruined and, when calling RH, was asked for a receipt. She said, because it was a gift, she had no proof of purchase, so nothing could be done. Um, she said she bought FOUR MORE, so why not just give the proof of purchase from one of those 4, if they are exactly the same item??

ANYWHO, now for my own review... I think a good rule of thumb when shopping at RH is to stick with their smaller items (lighting and accessories, primarily). Never buy large case goods (tables, dressers, dining furniture, etc), as they look good, initially, but are made terribly. Certain popular websites (O.co, for example) carry many of the very same pieces for a fraction of the price.

A great example is their "aviator chair" (which I own). RH sells this chair for between $2000 and $3000, while o.co has the exact same chair for $559 (theirs is called the "accelerator chair"). Keep in mind, RH will charge an additional $200 for shipping (o.co's shipping is free). It is literally the same exact chair. A friend of mine ordered the o.co version and we compared hers to mine. They have to be made by the same manufacturer, because every single thing, down to the rivets, is identical. It was after seeing this that I decided never to pay the insane prices for seating that RH charges. I mean, I can see a little more, but $1500-$2500 more, PLUS $200 for shipping?? NO THANKS.

RH is very hit or miss when it comes to their customer service. I ordered a light fixture and immediately realized I'd ordered the wrong finish. Within moments of placing the order, I contacted customer service and was told there was nothing that could be done, as the item had been "reserved". This was a Sunday evening, at about 11:00pm. I was so angry, I told them I would simply refuse the package and would not be reordering. The customer service person's response was, "Is there anything else I can help you out with today?" At which point I hung up. I called back a few minutes later and reached a different rep. I explained the situation to him and he profusely apologized, cancelled the wrong fixture and ordered the proper one for me. There seems to be no consistency from one rep to the next, as far as their policies go.

As far as the lighting goes... Pretty much my entire home has been outfitted with RH lighting. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the quality and style is great, compared to what's available at large home improvement retailers. If you live near an RH Outlet, I would HIGHLY suggest a visit, as they have a lot of lighting that's been marked down and they offer an 40% off on most weekends. Just make sure to inspect them prior to leaving the store, as they are not returnable. I found a gorgeous Meridian chandelier (now discontinued), marked down from $2000 to $200! It now hangs over my bed, after a few years above my dining table. I will attach a pic.

RH does have wonderful Christmas decor, although I would suggest waiting until after Christmas to purchase. I just wish they would discount a bit deeper. It is nearly May and they still have quite a bit available, because they seem to reduce the price one time and that's pretty much it. The moral of this story is just steer clear of the large furniture pieces RH offers. Stick with lighting, accessories and SOME of the small, occasional furniture pieces and mirrors. Do this and you'll be fine.

The vanity arrived and I was told by the delivery team that the vanity was checked twice, once before it left the Waterhouse and again before delivery. I was so disappointed to find the front left leg was damaged, chunk of partial wood was pushed in, about 5" of damage (supposedly it was listed as being SOLID WOOD). Nothing more could be done, even having a one bathroom home out of service for this long. Customer service did not help, during this huge inconvenience in my household of 5! I'm doing a home remodel, and after waiting for months for the Oval Aero Marble Table and the Shagreen Cube Rectangular Coffee Table, they were finally delivered. Within 3 weeks, the table, billed as a honed Carrara marble literally cracked and started to fall off the pedestal overnight like an earthquake had hit it-- it was clearly made of veneer, despite its >$4,000 price tag. After several urgent calls to customer service, I received an email that the marble was "around plywood", and not solid. The faulty tabletop posed an emergency and, upon threatening that RH would be responsible for my hardwood floor damage if they did not pick it up the same day, the delivery company agreed to get it.

Similarly, the table, made of Shagreen with brass edges, and >$1400, started to experience separation. The glued table edges began to separate and the brass edges started to crack off. Honestly, I've seen better furniture at Sears. Now, I'm doing my best to get refunded, but that is coming in fits and starts, and requiring multiple phone calls. Incredibly disappointing experience. I purchased a 20TH C. ENGLISH SLIDER GLASS WIDE DOUBLE-DOOR CABINET from Restoration Hardware. Its original price was $4000, I got it on sale for $2000 - still a lot of money for a glass cabinet. I don't mind paying more money for quality, but problem with RH is they try to come off as selling high-end furniture (the prices certainly are). But when you take away the fancy marketing and actually look at their furniture - they are all extremely cheaply made in China junk that are constructed poorly and with low-end materials. Add on the poor service, and you got a disaster trying to order furniture from them.

Here's a timeline of my nightmare after placing order for this glass cabinet: The material are extremely cheap, the wood used are all cracked and peeling, the hardware parts that are installed on the wood were screwed on uneven and done extremely poorly. The hardware themselves are rusted (no not as weathered style just very poor quality). EVERYTHING is MADE IN CHINA including the hardware. The whole thing looks like it was something I can pick up in a bob furniture store - actually that will be an insult to bob furniture.

Some fun issues include: The giant sliding glass door will literally fall off if you slide it as it's not secured on top. The doors do not close even, there is a giant gap on top. The doors squeak and extremely difficult to slide even after adding some lubricant, because the hardware was not installed evenly on the door. The glass doors are completely scratched up - looks like after you try to sand glass. Cleaning did not help. There are damages and scratches everywhere, corners chipped off, deep gashes like someone took a knife and went across the entire thing.

The delivery service has NO clue how to install this cabinet, even though they are all wearing RH shirts. They are not professionals. The 2 guys spent 4 hours and couldn't figure out how to get the top on, or how to install the sliding door. To be fair - part of the problem is because how badly the furniture itself is. They didn't even try to ask if I was OK with, and just told me I should call RH to have the cabinets replace it. In summary, RH is OK for some of the hardware like cabinet handles and faucets, but when it comes to furniture they are a scam. They try to charge heirloom quality prices for furnitures that are made in China AND very cheaply made junk. Avoid.

After washing, the texture changed and it's now so hard it cannot be used. I called customer service and she immediately said "oh those should be dry cleaned". Well the tag says they can be washed. So that's the first problem.

She then said "let's exchange this for you"- she went through the inventory they had available and we selected the replacement color. She then requests a receipt or proof of purchase. Many problems with this request: Ummm this was a gift!!! The only way they were able to track the purchase was if it was purchased online versus in an actual store. If it was purchased in a store they offered zero assistance.

They ONLY sell their own brand name products and their products are NOT sold in any over outlet. So how is this not proof it was purchased at a restoration hardware?? So now I have to rid of an expensive throw because I can't prove it was purchased there. Which is baffling!!! Their customer service is awful. Total of the purchase (with taxes) $1,389.94, paid with 3 gift cards of $500 each. Balance of the gift cards after purchase ZERO. This discussion is going on since October 2016... The COLE FRAMED HOUSE BED took 20 days to arrive which we accepted. Bed arrived damaged, the item is out of stock, we accepted a different one. New bed will arrive on 01/10/2017, around 80 days after the original order. The COLE CANVAS TENT took around 70 days to arrive. We also accepted this deadline, too long but... The Tent arrived finally, with a hole on the fabric. Next tent, should be shipped early March, 7-10 business days to delivery.

I'm writing this while I'm waiting for the customer service, once again, maybe the 4-5th time, check the balance of the gifts cards, new delivery of the damaged items, and the new problem with Hole on the tent. Nobody returns the calls that they guarantee "I will return the call with a solution..." I've paid $100 to be a member of the store, for special discounts and VIP treatment, where? Why pay for this piece of garbage? I've had more discussions with my wife because of this order than in our life. I'm really upset. Wasting a Saturday afternoon, to clear the ... of RH, for what? I'm sure the other items will arrive damaged, and I will come back here, while I wait for the customer service again. I'm still on the phone. Now the person concluded the call saying that my gift cards are invalid, and someone will call me in 5-7 business days, again, about the balance of the gift cards, but they will issue a new one with $51.35. The total is $110.06.

Bad service and product? My experience was exactly the opposite. Not only is it super obvious regarding the $100 fee when you sign up for the membership, it comes with endless interior designer help. Kim ** in the West Hollywood, CA store came to my place, did a CAD drawing, gave lots of great suggestions in terms of furniture mapping, and had unique ideas. Of course they are trying to sell you lots of RH stuff, but they do understand that you will likely just be buying some items from them. I got about 8 hours of design time with her over a few days which I found to be incredibly helpful. I have purchased 3 sofas from them, all of them reasonably priced for what I got (they were all tufted leather, roughly 8 1/2 ft sofas in the $2600 range). They came exactly as described.

I recently purchased the AXIS brass 60" chandelier. When I hung it, the wires didn't fall exactly in line, which concerned me since I liked the fixture but I know the full refund policy on it is only 7 days from shipping arrival date. I called up customer service and explained my concern, and they offered to extend the return period to 2 months to give the wires settling time from being crated up during shipping. If I wasn't happy at that time, I could return for full refund or get a replacement. So I have to say, no negative experiences for me, however, you do have to realize you are engaging with a higher end retailer, and the prices on items will reflect that. But I feel that the quality has been well worth the price.

For a national chain they have THE WORST customer service out there. The WORST. Bought a dresser over $2,200 in mid October. If we signed up to be a member we could save 20% or something like that, but they charge you $100 to be a member - which was in the fine print (my bad that I didn't see it. I thought it was for future ad/junk mail purposes). 4 weeks later, RH called and said the first shipment arrived damaged. Second shipment was on its way. 3 weeks later, RH called and said the second shipment arrived damaged. They charged us AGAIN for shipping (twice on the same order). Fought like hell to get them to remove it.

They removed the first charge. Couldn't give me a delivery date on the third shipment so I cancelled the order. They refunded one of the shipping charges but not the dresser itself. Took multiple calls. When they finally refunded the dresser, we had to argue with the CSR that we shouldn't be charged FOR ANY shipping and that all charges should be refunded. RH actually argued with us that it was refunded when we should them our statement that it wasn't. Finally conceded and refunded everything but the original membership. Will never shop there or buy from them online again.

The product is not well finished and the picture on the website shows a distressed oak color and I received a painted smooth finish. Also one door is not properly screwed to the hinges and the paint is chipping where this hinge attaches. I expected a heavier doors and a more handcrafted piece of furniture. As an architect /carpenter, I expected more and got less. I will stick to building my own versions of handcrafted and finished products. Maybe since the original owner sold out the quality went to **. Who knows. Handcrafted items are going away and the chinese make everything and it shows.

This has to be a common issue since we are not particularly hard on them. When looking for replacement parts, I was told they don't offer them but they were happy to forward my complaint to the manufacturer. I WAS offered the ability to repurchase them for the current retail price, approx. $800 plus shipping. NO THANKS!

We purchased five pieces from RH. Their sales team were helpful but when we got the bill, we couldn't figure out what we have been charged for. The charges on our CC for each item were split into pieces. Tax for a chair was charged separately from the chair price, for example. The problem began when we started getting charges that we couldn't align with the bill. We called and our sales associate told us that their accounting system is difficult to explain. After three calls and reviewing each item, I gave up when I reached differences of a few dollars. I have never asked someone to explain a bill for me. They seem to charge tax for every service they offer. There is tax for their membership. There is tax for their shipping. They split the tax from the actual bill. Our experience was terrible. We won't buy anything from them again. If you plan to buy, ask them exactly what you'd be charged for and how much so it won't catch you by surprise.

They are of excellent quality. My big items they delivered with no hassle. Yes they were late about a week than they initial said but delivery service was of top notch. I had some defective items which I needed to return even after some use and I never ever had problem contacting RH service and they were right there to help without any question. Please don't consider these many negative reviews. RH does not deserve anything lower than 4.5 stars for their products and less than 5 stars for their service. They are luxurious brand and everything you will get from them is no less than of that level.

So this is a company that must serious not give a care about their customers. I have purchased several items from this company. I could have easily bought from anyone else. But I thought this was the best. Best customer service. Oh man was I WRONG! I have purchased a fire bowl. And it broke in less than a year. So I tell RH I follow all the instructions and protocols they have. And it came out that they were going to refund me. Okay... I guess. Would have rather had a working fire bowl. But whatever.

Well that has been a thorn in my side since August 24th. Yup. It is now November... And I can not get anyone to get delivery scheduled for me. They said I have to contact the trucking company personally. So I have. (Which is not my job.) And no one will work with me on the date switch. RH WILL NEVER get another penny from me. I have a dining table, chandeliers, and a console table ready to purchase. And I will now take my business elsewhere. For all of my troubles, which have included 1 hour phone calls numerous times to figure out the problem, they were willing to "compensate" 200 bucks. Are you kidding me? I have spent thousands! And you are willing to give me 200... OH MY GOD!!! The lack of customer service, is so ridiculous. I can't even think how awful other people have been treated. We are renovating our apartment and needed an armoire for the bedroom. RH had a number of great options only so we selected one and called about delivery. We were told that the armoire would be delivered and "assembled inside our apartment" by their white glove delivery service. The piece was discounted if we paid the membership so we paid the fee and bought the piece. First, they rescheduled our delivery three times as they could not make it at the originally agreed upon time causing my wife to miss work multiple days while waiting at home for the delivery.

Second, once the item was delivered, it was in one piece and did not fit up our stairs. We called and were advised to tell the delivery service to take it back to the warehouse where it would be disassembled and brought back to us and assembled inside. We did just that and then followed up with calls daily looking for information on the new delivery. Finally, after multiple service representatives told us that it was in the works, someone let us know that there was no way that item could be disassembled and it was never coming back to our apt because the item was sold out.

Finally, we requested a refund after all of this trouble and were told it would take a few business days, however, the membership fee was "non-refundable". You lose, thanks for playing. We will never buy anything from this store again and I would pay ten times for an armoire from someone else just to know that the delivery and installation will be handled properly and the company is not trying to steal a few hundred bucks from me.

Had a terrible experience with RH. I spent over $10K in home furnishings for my living room. My couches were less than 9 months old when I moved out of my home to another location. In transit all the nailheads fell out of my couches and one of the wheels that was supposed to screw off - the entire wheel fell off leaving a dangerous sized nail hanging out of the couch. RH said they would sent replacement parts and they never came. I waited four months and they kept telling me they were in the mail. I was also told I would receive a refund of $2k. They said they sent two checks to two different addresses - they never came. I am finally trying to return all my furniture and still they are acting so incompetent - wrong contact info on file after its been changed several times and they screwed up my address several times. No tracking #s for the check for $2k either.

I am now returning all my furniture because it is poorly made for the price they charged and I've waited over 4 months for no replacement parts and absolutely no refund check they supposedly mailed twice to two separate addresses that never reached me including my office! They are liars and completely incompetent in replacing defective furniture and issuing refunds. I dealt with a woman named Julie, a supervisor who had an attitude with me because I never received any of the checks they NEVER sent! Do not buy furniture from this place - you're better off with Ethan Allen or another store that doesn't play games with their customers and actually have a competent working staff to help its customers.

Never ever use this company. Do your own research, don't just take my word for it. There are many folks who are equally unhappy with this company. My family's experience was with a $4K sofa build and delivery. We live in an older condo building. They built us an 84" sofa which could not fit into the building elevator. They did not ask us the size of the elevator at the time of purchase, and unfortunately for us we did not think about the size of the elevator when we placed our order. We rescheduled for delivery to another location. Somehow they were "unable to contact us by email" and our voicemail message boxes became inexplicably full when they tried to contact us by phone.

Interestingly enough, neither my wife or I did not receive any emails from them in spam folders and we did manage to receive voicemail messages from friends, family and co-workers without any complaints of a "full voicemail box." We finally managed to get back in touch with them by email and were told the sofa had been moved to another location and they will no longer deliver it to our preferred location. They "agreed" to refund our second half payment with a $150 "penalty" and to "generously" give us a "store credit" equal to our initial down payment. They also agreed to "build another sofa" and deliver it to our preferred location approximately 2+ months down the road... This was our customer experience with Restoration Hardware. Buyer beware.

To top it off, I just got a voicemail on my phone while I was typing this that says my window is tomorrow between 1:30 - 2:30, but I already told her I can't do it and that I will want the Saturday time slot. I am writing this review to share a very positive review of Restoration Hardware. My wife and I recently purchased two large pieces of furniture from RH. After a short wait (much sooner than they stated it would be), they contacted us for delivery. Today, they delivered the pieces, and much to our disappointment, one of the pieces would simply not fit through the doorway. There was an issue with listed dimension versus actual. The delivery crew offered to take our window out which we would not allow. So, we decided to return it. Note, that we purchased a final sale item that we returned. We were very fearful that we would be stuck with the item.

Quite the contrary, we were very quickly contacted 3 separate times by RH customer service to make it right. We decided to exchange the returned piece for two other pieces. Since it was an exchange from an existing order, we also got to utilize our previous unlimited shipping. So, there is no additional shipping charge and we were able to exchange a final sale item that did not fit for two other items at no cost. It is also important to note that I live fairly far outside local RH delivery areas. I have read here on Consumer Affairs that others have not had the same experience but feel it prudent to share a review of being pleasantly surprised with RH customer service. If you have not shopped with RH, you hopefully have the same.

Not the most user friendly, but the end result is stunning. I had to order 2 more panels and the price had gone back up so I called Customer Service. It was my impression before buying furniture from RH that their customer service sucked. Needless to say, I had a yearning for one of their sofas and I finally pulled the trigger. At the time, they had 12 months no interest financing with an RH card (I believe they still offer this). I purchased an 8' Belgian Classic Slope Arm Sofa in standard (non-down) cushions (on sale for about $2,700). I did this because I had previously purchased a similar RH sofa in down (which I returned), as I found the down sunk down too low and didn't give me the back support I needed. Anyway, so I bought the 8' sofa in the standard foam cushions this time, in Charcoal Belgian linen. The foam sofa cushions seemed to be inferior quality compared to the sofa itself.

After a few months I decided to call RH to see what they could do. I wasn't expecting much cause, as mentioned, I heard their customer service was lacking. To my surprise, they actually offered to replace the entire sofa! I told them I really just needed the 'cores' replaced with down ones (back cushions only). They gladly offered to replace them, though it does take about 12 weeks. Once I got them - this time the down didn't sink down as easily and had better back support for me - I decided I might as well get the lower cushion replaced also. Once again, RH gladly replaced the lower cushion 'core' with down. There was initially an error and they shipped me a 7' cushion (so it's taken quite a while to finally get the down replacement), but, everyone I have ever talked with has been very service oriented and happy to accommodate my requests. At no charge to me whatsoever, I might add.

Yes, RH is expensive. We pay for their huge ass showrooms and elaborate catalogs. But, the bottom line is the quality is far better than West Elm, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel and the like. So, if you want furniture that is higher quality and is more of a long-term investment (that you'll want to keep around for a while), go with RH.

I have been wanting to write reviews on the products I purchased on the RH site, but didn't see how, so figured I would write here. Originally, after I discovered RH via the Houzz, I purchased a velvet duvet cover that I had a problem with. To start off, RH completely made it right with me and beyond. I was actually having a very stressful experience with a different company at the time, and RH restored my faith in basic human reasonableness and caring; true story - I DO NOT work for them nor am I being paid to write this, lol.

Anyway, they were having a bedding sale, so I purchased two new duvet covers and a some blankets. One of my duvet covers was literally over $300, but I have to tell you, even at that price, which for me is high, I am so happy with it. It is truly artisan fabric as was advertised and was made in Italy. I also bought a linen duvet cover and it is soft and the perfect weight. Honestly, every single piece I received I absolutely love (although in hindsight I would have picked a lighter color for the linen, but that's just personal preference). I'm sure they'd allow me to swap it, but I don't like things to go to waste.

The quality of the items is superb, truly. So I just wanted to say that. Each and every item I purchased I seriously love. A+ for the customer service, and A+ for the products!!! I feel really special with this beautiful bedding. Only problem is I now have too much and can't use it all at the same time. They get products from all over the world, I believe, such as this special Italian jacquard duvet cover, so sometimes, you are going to run into a problem, but like I said they went above and beyond to make it right. I was very sad that the fabric on the velvet duvet cover I had was too loosely woven because the rich trendy "graphite" color was gorgeous. Anyway, I just had to write a review somewhere because I love my stuff I got so much! Italian jacquard duvet cover, linen duvet cover and shams, down blanket, faux fur throw, velvet herringbone coverlet, plush blanket.

Both arrived defective: the base was loosely attached to the standing part (pole), flimsy and wobbly. Careful inspection and an attempt to simply screw the pole to the base failed: the gap was so loose on one lamp - an inch of separation - that we could see the machine screw and nut assembly inside, but things were not properly attached. How embarrassing and shameful that RH would not inspect items prior to shipment. One bad item could be happily exchanged if the other were as-represented and of good quality. Now we endure repackaging, return shipment, and waiting 3 weeks for return and refund to be completed. Ugh.

I purchased curtains from the RH website. After placing a call to customer service and specifically asking whether I could return the curtains to a store if they were the wrong color, I was assured that I could. Knowing this, I placed my curtain order. Curtain orders from RH incur enormous shipping charges of $75. The reason ordering curtains from RH is difficult, is that a customer is not able to view the actual curtains in any RH store. I was told that I could view color swatches for the curtains at the store in Boston but when I went to look, they did not have any swatches for the curtains I was considering buying (striped Thai silk). Not having been able to see the actual curtain or the curtain swatch, I gambled, paid $75, and ordered the curtains.

Once they arrived, they were not the right color. At this point, I contacted customer service to order a different color and I mentioned I would be returning the original curtains to the store in Boston. Customer service now told me that the stores actually DO NOT like to take returns and that if I returned the curtains to the store, it could be months before I received a credit. My other choice was to return the curtains and pay another $75 in shipping.

Since I was planning on exchanging the curtains and buying another color, I asked RH if they would courtesy ship the new curtains, as some merchants do, and was told NO, that I would have to pay another $75 for the new shipment of curtains. At this point, RH was asking me to pay $225 in total shipping charges. My purchasing process at RH has not been at all customer friendly. This is especially frustrating because I tried to establish BEFORE placing my order how much the curtain purchase would cost, including shipping.

RH has nice ready-made curtains but I urge anyone interested in them, to google ready-made curtains and check out other vendors before placing any order with RH. West Elm, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath and Beyond and online retailers all have ready-made curtains and drapes worth looking at. BEWARE of RH's VERY HIGH shipping charges and EXTREMELY POOR customer service BEFORE doing business with them.

It seems most people only post their "negative" reviews. So I decided to post my "positive" review with RH. We do not have a store here in the Vegas area yet (I hear it's coming). Therefore, we visited the stores while in New York and L.A. last year. The service in the New York city store was exceptional. The service in the L.A. (Melrose) store was a little lacking. Anyway, I ordered the Lasalle Media Console, coffee table, and a sofa. I ordered the items at different times via online and using customer service. I have received my Media Console as scheduled. It is absolutely beautiful, very well made, and in perfect condition. The "white glove" delivery service was exceptional. I am very satisfied so far. I am so looking forward to the opening of our Vegas store - whoohoo!!!

I purchased a glider Sept 2, 2015. I was supposed to be notified Nov. 2, 2015 to let me know the delivery date. No notification. I called Nov. 6 to inquire about the chair. The customer service rep said the fabric was not available anymore. I asked what could I do? The rep said she would look into it and call me back. No return call. Called again in a few days. The rep said the chair fabric was on back order and she would call me back and let me know if I could get the chair. No callback.

Next day, talked to supervisor and after much negotiation and checking with her supervisor, she eventually discovered we could get a loaner chair that we would be charged for and would receive a refund when the correct chair was delivered and the loaner was picked up. Finally got the correct chair January 12, 2016. The customer service people were always very nice on the phone for the multiple phone calls, but it was such a hassle and took so long that I will never buy anything else from RH.

I have had very mixed experiences but as my husband and I discuss the possibility of new furniture, and I was taking inventory of our budget and what we have, my upset over our purchases from this company resurfaced in full force. When my husband and I were first married we purchased - for probably a minimum of $10,000 - a bedroom set. We got two dressers, entire bed set and two dressers. After only a year or so the tops of the furniture pieces began to split and buckle. Now this many years later I still get upset each day when I walk in the room and see the state of these pieces. I have had to touch up the corners of the drawers, which we are very gentle on, every few months because whitish is exposed underneath the espresso finish. The side tables are now looking quite disgusting even though we use coasters and I use the suggested protective elements.

We have leather furniture which has been terrific, and a kitchen table where the table which had quite the price tag is lasting relatively well after about 5 years but the chairs have been replaced twice because the wood has split. RH customer service for the chairs was very helpful in that case. However, for the investment we have made in RH over the years I don't believe we will be buying more because it is really "hit or miss" on quality and the price is just too high to risk it. I was thinking about how in two of our other bedrooms we have full bedroom sets that my parents had purchased from Ethan Allen in the 70s and look 10 times better, near perfect, as compared to the RH set that we spent so much on much more recently. I am disappointed because I love the style they offer but I want to warn everyone who is looking to spend well earned money that your dollars might be better placed elsewhere for sure.

Like many others I have purchased thousands of dollars of RH furniture, bathroom hardware and vanities over the years. Started to notice issues with quality back in 2008 during 2 bathroom renovations. The laminate of two of the cabinets was starting to peel off. Paid to have a furniture repair guy fix 2x in one year. Made the mistake of once again using them for yet another bathroom renovation in our current home. In less than 6 months the vanity door is warped (will no longer close completely) and I just noticed this morning the mirror is starting to fail (black around the edges from moisture). In addition we have had a plumber out to fix the RH faucet which tightens up and prevents proper water flow. Customer service has been hit or miss over the years- sometimes very helpful, other times absolutely horrible (usually on the delivery end). I am done with this company. They should put the money that they spend on their catalogs into making a quality product.

I am infuriated by the discrepancy between the RH mega catalogues and the product/service. I received a catalogue which I think is totally over the top and have since cancelled. I was seduced, however, into buying some of the flameless candles. I ordered them on November 30. I ordered 3 different sizes, plus a remote. Total about $100 or more. So kind of a nice gift. But also, kind of over the top for fake candles. I received the remote first, the one of the candles a week or so later. The others have not arrived. I cancelled one. The other was supposed to arrive today - 4 weeks after I ordered it.

It's not the end of the world, I realize. The one candle I did get, looks cheap and I was embarrassed to give it to my employee today. I had to explain that the other one, or two were - coming soon. Still not sure. This whole thing has been handled so poorly. I spoke with several people including a supervisor and no one really cared, I have to say. They do their job, but they don't benefit or lose from this company so they don't really care. I care. I run a business and I never treat customers this way. I will never step foot in another RH. Nor will I go looking for anything in their online store. I used to love this brand but that is over. Totally. Cheap, overpriced, BAD customer service = out of business soon.

First of all, if anyone willing to shop at this store, my honest recommendation is to stay away for the sake of your credit card. After looking online for leather chairs, I walked into their store in Highland Village and wanted to see their leather chair. They said they can not display every time in online so I had no chance to see chairs. I did trust them and made an order that night on the phone and few hours later I had an email. As soon as I saw the chairs I realized that they were not the one I wanted. I called the customer service and store to cancel the order and make a new order. They said they need to charge me for the new order and then will refund me first wrong order. Even after couple hours later, that product has never been out of the warehouse. They did not cancel it, they even delivered to my house that I canceled it.

On the delivery day they brought 6 bennett roll-back side chairs, plus canceled chairs. Of course they were in a horrible condition. I did return 3 of them. At the same time, I kept 3 of them. After couple of hours I realized those chairs are not tufted, in fact they were made of patched leather. As a result, some pieces looked old some pieces looked new. When you look at the chairs you see the color difference. I called the store and they asked me what I want to do, also at the time I was waiting my 6 parson chairs that I canceled and have never taken them.

Because I was looking for the tufted leather chairs, at this time I went for the tufted (at least clearly says, it is tufted. I assumed it is one piece leather) Martin chairs. That was the worst decision I have ever made. I also made a request for inspection before those chairs out of the warehouse. They were wrapped with the blanket. I thought this time is gonna work. They opened 3 of them and I was in a really shock to see how loose the back side of the chairs. I did not want to see rest of the 3. I thought I am done with RH. I did sign a paper that I am returning 3 bennett roll back side chairs and 6 martin tufted leather chairs and want my refund as soon as possible. After 5 min I called the customer service, also they did call me, I made a clear request that I want all my money including shipping. They said yes.

After a week, yesterday I had a call that saying my order is ready to ship. I called the customer service again and said "I have nothing to be delivered". He said "this was a mistake". This morning I had an email says that my order (I do not have any verbal or written) is ready to ship. At the same time my husband said we were charged for 1 Martin tufted chair. During your order, On the phone, or online, you need to give them your credit card information at the time of order every time, however this time they figured out without any verbal or written order they just charged us. Now I am scared too, so they can do whatever they want to with your credit card information.

Even though I made a written and verbal request for 3 bennett roll back side chairs refund, just this morning they said they did not make a refund. They do not see the chairs were returned. Means my calls and written statement did not counted. Thank god, I took the copy of the paper and I wrote that I return 3 chairs as well. They could say easily we did not take it. Where are we now is that everyday we check our credit card (they charge you in a minute they do not refund you in weeks) for refund and extra unknown charges.

What this store makes you buy is that only the design. I think I love their design and colors. This store locates at the centre of the city, it is always making you happy while you are in the store. On the contrary, they have a poor quality of furniture. Filling backside of chairs and upholstering with a good labor, checking them in china and in Dallas should not be that difficult if you charge people 3 times more than other stores. From now on, I will never step on this store again and I will inform and warn as many as people that I could. Stop shopping from RH.

I had two negative experiences with Restoration Hardware. One seemed like an honest mistake (charging for an extra sham at their outlet store, which they rectified after the fact). Then I ordered a lamp online. When it arrived, it was not suitable for our room. We returned it, which was more than $20 to ship. When our credit card was refunded, the refund was $22 less. I called customer service, and they explained that the reason we didn't get the full credit was because the item wasn't incorrect or damaged. He explained that we don't get a refund on the shipping if it's an item we don't like. So, we are out $42 and have nothing to show for it. It was a pricey lesson, but the lesson was not lost on me. I will never shop Restoration Hardware online again.

We purchased the St. James Dining Table in Antique Black along with several other pieces in early July 2015. We were promised this furniture by late August and it didn't arrive until Late September. While part of the order was not delivered the dining table arrived and could not be assembled as the bolts did not fit. Another table arrived in mid October and it was damaged, yet a 3rd table was delivered in November --it too was damaged and had been previously repaired--so RH knew it was damaged when they shipped it. Though we kept that table here to accommodate our Thanksgiving dinner a 4th table was ordered out. Imagine my elation when it arrived in perfect condition. The joy was short lived as the delivery people damaged it when bringing it into the house. (They dragged it across a screw that they had left on the floor.)

I've had it with RH. They wanted to give me 10% off the sale price if I kept the table. I said NO. We negotiated back and forth and the final story is that I told them NO. I want my table replaced. RH has my money and though I do have a table, it is a damaged and repaired table. Two of the other pieces I've purchased from them have been shipped damaged and another was shipped to me after it had been repaired. This company is horrible. They set themselves up as a high end, exclusive, destination furniture store and deliver shoddy merchandise. They told me this table was made in the USA and the label on the bottom says it was made Vietnam. DON'T BUY Restoration Hardware furniture. They used to be a great company but no more. I'll stick with Gorman's or buy in North Carolina!!!

We fell in love with the Vintage Toledo Bar stools in Chrome from Restoration Hardware as they were PERFECT for our new kitchen. We received the first order of 5 bar stools quickly and upon unpacking the first one we realized an issue with the seat - it was tilted and as you spin the seat tilts up, then down. We proceeded to open the next 4 boxes and ALL 5 suffered from the same defect, some rocked back and forth as well.

I called RH customer service - got right through and they were unable to tell me if all of these stools will be the same so we agreed to return the 5 and receive 5 more. They also offered to inspect them at their warehouse before shipping but that would take on 7-10 days to the shipping time. I opted to just receive the 5 new ones and judge for myself. The box states: made in India and labeled box 252 of 294, etc. The 5 new ones arrived and were in the same group of 294 as the first shipment, therefore I assumed would suffer from the same defect, so my hopes were dashed. All 5 were opened and this time 2 had scratches across the wood seat and YES, ALL FIVE WERE TILTED again! I've had 5 people sit on them and give me their opinion - all agree that these are NOT RIGHT and at the price point - on sale $220 - we should NOT settle for these.

Another call to customer service went quickly and smoothly and I've asked for a full refund. It will be forthcoming as soon as they receive the stools back in their warehouse. UPS will be on their way AGAIN to pick them up. RH has lost a customer - we cannot trust their quality! My general frustration with RH is related to the fact that a very small fraction of their product is available in their stores to check out before purchasing.

I have recently made several purchases at the West Palm Beach Restoration Hardware store, and have never experienced such terrible customer service. In July my husband and I wondered into RH and fell in love with the furniture. We decided to purchase some curtains for our new home and wait to purchase the furniture until the house was painted. The sales person Martha was very helpful and arranged for Michael **, the interior decorator, to come to our home to measure the windows and advise us on which Living room, Dining room and Family room furniture would best fit our space.

We were very excited to have their decorator help us select furnishings! After forgetting our appointment and several emails, Michael informed me that he doesn't come out "just for curtains" and I could come to the store and meet him to look at furniture in the Gallery. I felt like a second class citizen. So I decided to skip using their designer services, and just order the Living room couch and matching oversized chairs with Martha, the salesperson. Everything arrived on time and I was pleased.

In early November we were finally ready to order 6 dining room chairs, 2 chandeliers, an outdoor water fountain with matching fire table. I had to pay an additional $200 delivery fee to have the fire table delivered since the showroom model was the only one left and had to be shipped directly from the store. I received everything the following week except the fire table. I called the store and spoke to Guillermo, who said he'd look into it and call me back. He never did, so I called back a few days later and spoke to Alejandra who looked into it and said it would be delivered the next day. I asked her why did it take 3 weeks to be delivered? She said, "Does it really matter? I said I took care of it already". I was shocked at her reply. Then asked her if they could do anything about the delivery fee since it took so long to deliver. She said, "Sure! I'll be happy to refund the delivery charge and you can come pick it up at the store yourself." How Rude!

I explained that after all, I was still the customer and I didn't expect to be spoken to so flippantly. I asked to speak to Guillermo, the manager and she said he was busy so I asked for his Supervisor and she said "He doesn't have one". When I told her, "I'm sure he has a supervisor" she said "Goodbye" and hung up me!! Unbelievable! You would think that a high end store would provide superior customer service, but they don't. I called Customer Support to complain and NO ONE has called me back... that was 4 days ago! Once you pay them you are on your own!

Two bad experiences with RH and there will not be a third. First, we purchased very expensive planters for our rooftop patio. After a few years they all started to disintegrate. When we contacted the store and got into it, we were informed that there is small print that states that planters should be moved INDOORS during winter months. So sorry - nothing they could do since we did not move all our planters inside every winter. Oh, I live in Dallas too - you know those harsh Dallas winters.

Second incident, we ordered a large chandelier. It arrived without hardware, light bulbs and only 1 foot of chain (instead of 3). Then, after pulling it out of the boxes we discovered it was filthy with fingerprints and broken!! It had clearly been used/installed and returned to the box. We are now waiting on a replacement light which will take 2 weeks. We had to purchase all the missing items and will have to pay the electrician to come back out, but again, sorry nothing they can do.

Even though it had a down pillow top it felt like sitting on a park bench, I'm really not trying to be sarcastic when I say this. I kept looking under the cushions to find out what was making it feel so hard and there is no reason I could find. After a week the fabric started to look wrinkled and worn out. It washes well if you manage to soil it, but no other redeeming qualities. I regret the purchase!! When people come over you can see the surprise on their faces that it's not comfortable and it's deceiving because it looks so soft. I gave it one star but I really wouldn't give it that. Because we ordered the furniture and did not use it for a few weeks until we noticed the foul odors, we were told we were not allowed to return them. Because I had ordered MANY other items in the past and never had an issue, I tried to let it go.

Well, I recently ordered a pair of saddle chairs and the Maxwell 7 foot leather sofa all in a custom leather. Well the sofa came in 6 feet and the feet were a horrendous light brown that did not at all match the pewter leather. The pillows were hard as rocks even though I ordered the "down feather" option. The saddle chairs came without the ornamental saddles! And the delivery men damaged my door.

At first, they wouldn't return my money for the Maxwell couch until they realized they send the wrong size and they have now refunded the full amount but the amount of effort on the consumer's side, to have to reach some sort of mediation or basic customer service is incredible! I mean it's not like this is Rooms to Go or something! Never again buying here.

Do not buy Restoration Hardware rugs! After much discussion this month, my dear husband and I bought two 9x12 rugs: Luz and Marca. Beautiful. This was a retail investment of $14,000. We had it two weeks, had a little spill, and all efforts to clean it made it worse (simply water and gentle scrubbing). We called two local professional rug cleaners, and the first one refused to touch it when he saw it was made of viscose - notoriously difficult to clean and maintain apparently.

The second company said they would try to clean it for $1,000, with no guarantee it would look any better. Un-freakin-believable! I'll never buy another Restoration Hardware rug again! If you google viscose rugs, you will see they are very absorbent (making the risks of stains from spills much higher) and virtually impossible to maintain (e.g. you shouldn't use regular vacuums on them) and if they ever get wet, even from some water, they are known to turn yellow. OMG! Why would a reputable company even sell rugs that are guaranteed to be a disappointment to customers, and ultimately the reputation of the company? As someone who always bought Pottery Barn rugs before, I thought this was an upgrade to buy Restoration Hardware. Nope.

Horror story from Day 1. Ordered dining room table and 8 chairs and was told (a) they would all be delivered, even at different times, by a third-party agent -- who would call me before delivering the items to our new vacation home (which would often be unoccupied), and (b) they were all available for delivery within 1 month. 1 hour later, the salesperson called to say the table was NA for 3 months.

2 days later, after much back-and-forth, the store manager said the store's computer system was wrong and the table was in fact available now. Then RH shipped 2 of the chairs via UPS instead of via an agent, so I had no notice they were arriving; UPS left them at our new house before the closing, so the current owners rejected the shipment. I called immediately and Customer Service said they would process the returned chairs, then immediately resend them (at which point we would be in the new house).

Then, crickets for several weeks. When I checked with RH, they had no record of that call. They had received the returned chairs, but had still not processed the credit and said they could not resend them until the credit issued, but then said that the chairs are now on back-order. When I pointed out that they HAVE the two chairs that were returned to them (after being sent by UPS instead of through their agent), they effectively said, "too bad." My lesson is that the folks in the store don't know how the delivery process works and give out all sorts of inaccurate info, and customer service is more interested in sticking by the rules than in serving customers. Fingers crossed that the product quality is better than what we've experienced thus far.
