Booked 2 appointments and both times the technician was a no show. The call center called hours later after the appointment window saying they were overbooked and understaffed. This happened twice in a two week period just for an a.c. tune up. Don't waste your day waiting on ARS to show up. Definitely not a reputable company to deal with. They don't even show up for a simple tune up and summer check up.

3 month old, brand new install. 3 issues. Most current issue is water leaking for the ceiling. Destroying brand new insulation and sheet rock, as well as the water running down directly onto electric fittings. Trying to get a technician here "within their 2-6 time frame" is trash. BBB will be contacted tomorrow.

My first experience with ARS Rescue Rooter was a no show, no calls. This says it all and upon a call to speak with a representative in a manager position there was no return calls. I would not recommend.

We had a shower head that would leak and drip when you turned on the bathwater. When you pulled the lever up to turn on the shower, water would continue to drip from the bathtub faucet. This was not a bad drip but we wanted to make sure that it was not due to something internal that would burst or leak inside our walls. The technician came out and told us that we needed a new valve and cartridge. We agreed to this knowing that, although pricy, it would fix our problem. When he was done the water no longer leaked from the bathtub faucet when we turned on the shower but as we turned on the bath water, water poured out of the shower head MUCH worse than before.
I asked the technician why it leaked more than before and he told me that that was just our plumbing. I told him I was confused because it didn't leak this much before the $2400 we paid to have the valve and cartridge replaced. Again, he just said well - that's what it does. There was also a squeak/squeal from hell coming from inside our wall now. The tech said he didn't hear it. Honestly, how could someone not hear that noise??!! When I showed my husband he was, to put it nicely, not happy. A small drip from our showerhead and faucet because Niagara falls from our showerhead without pulling the lever to divert the water up and a squeal so loud that it hurt my family's ears.
I called them back and they sent another tech to look at the job after they had to call me to reschedule twice due to some scheduling issue on their end. They came out and told us that we needed to pay $1,000's more money to replace a pipe because it was too short and water was backing up in it and pouring from the showerhead. The 2 simple questions they couldn't answer were, "Why is it worse after replacing the valve and cartridge?" and "What if replacing this pipe doesn't work now?" Neither question they had answers for. Disgusted and unable to pay more money to fix the pipe that 'might' fix the leaking showerhead we had them leave. So, now, after paying them $2,400 dollars, I have a showerhead that pours water when trying to fill a bathtub and a squeak from hell when I am trying to peacefully shower. Absolutely horrible service and we are now stuck with it. I absolutely do not recommend this company for plumbing services.

On February 24, 2025, I paid a total of 249.00 to Rescue Rooter for duct taping one run of 6" existing flex duct to a vent register that had fallen off the register due to improper taping previously by another contractor. I told the technician he needed to put some screws in the flex so it would not fall back down due to moisture, and I would not have this problem again. He did not do what I asked him to do. Said he did not have material, and it should hold fine with the tape again. This morning 4th of July it fell off in the crawl space so basically, I was cooling the crawl space of my house again. Not a happy camper to say the least.
I am 70 years old and have limited mobility and can't get under crawl space in my home. My wife and I who is also elderly actually stuck our arm through register and pulled the flex duct back up through register hole. After cutting our arms working with sheet metal at the register and the close quarters of plumbing we got the duct pulled back through the register. This will definitely now keep it from coming back loose. I want my money refunded. This was not a good experience for me with your company to say the least. 249.00 for taping with duct tape is totally a rip off in my mind as well.

If you are looking for good customer service and resolution of your AC issues, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was very patient and that lack of care and respect for me as a paying client, has led to this complete and thorough review. Saturday evening, I realized my thermostat power was off. My husband does his due-diligence to ensure it is not something that can be resolved quickly. He contacts ARS Rescue Rooter Laurel and they schedule him and confirm via text an appointment for 12 MID - 8AM. This was honestly new and refreshing to know that there were techs that worked overnight. We made accommodations for our young children and I stayed at the house waiting on the tech. 640AM Sunday I call for an eta. The "agent" tells me I am still on the schedule. 800AM I call for an eta. The agent tells me, I am still on the schedule and a message is being sent to dispatch.
830AM I call and the agent lets me know I should have NEVER been scheduled for an overnight call, as they don't have techs to support that window. I ask for a manager and was informed that the managers are on weekend hours. So they will get back to me as soon as possible (within a 24-48 hour window). The new time is schedule for 8AM -11 AM. Again, as it approached 11AM, I call for an eta and the agent just sends a message to dispatch for an update. My level of frustration and downright anger has peaked. I am not hearing from anyone and I am going back and forth about finding a new company. 130PM the tech shows up. At this point still no call from a manager. Still not understanding why no one has addressed the fact that we waited all night and all morning for someone to come, and NO ONE SHOWED. So, 130PM, I know I need to get my house cooled.
We have young children and literally are on the tail-end of a heat wave. So, tech "resolves" and proceeds to tell us there is a power issue and he thinks it is just because the screws of the fuse get loose from the movement of the furnace. Well, it is in fact NOT RESOLVED. 4AM I noticed how hot it is in our home, and go check the thermostat and it is off... again. Call ARS Laurel again to get that tech back. They tell us they will be there between 8AM-12PM Monday. So, now I have to adjust again, call into work that I will be late.
Well, guess what, not only do they not come during that time. After 5 or more calls to the agents, still no call from a manager, we find out that we are going to be scheduled for 4PM. But that is not where this story ends. I am so fed up with this company, that I reach out to a reliable company, that came out quickly and properly diagnosed and resolved the issue. The next call we received from ARS was at 730PM that a tech was on the way.
This was in fact thee worst experience with essential home service providers in my 25 years of home ownership. And guess what, still no call from a manager. Even contact the 901 number for QA... and still no one. So I hope after ever "recorded" phone call, your company evaluates how you will continue to lose business.

I made an appointment for furnace tune up. First appointment on 5/20/25, between 8 am to 12 noon. I waited at home for entire morning and no body showed up. I call the company and was told that they don't have the record for my appointment. So I made another appointment on 6/13/25 between 8 am to 12 noon and was told that this time I will not have any problem to have someone to come and do the job. I called on 6/12/25 to confirm the appointment and was told it will have no problem. On 6/13/25, I called 10:30 am and 11:16 am and was told some one will call me.
I waited until 12:10 pm and did not receive any call letting me know what's going on. I called again to find out what's going on and was told they are running behind their schedule and some one may come around 2 pm or 3 pm. I lost my confidence with this company and I can't keep on waiting. I told the lady to cancel appointment because I have something else to do this afternoon and can't keep on waiting. I will never do business again with this company because they can't keep their promised appointment time again and again.

Scammers. They are advertising really low tune up prices but it’s the way to get in your house. After it they are explaining that “is wrong” with your unit and trying to sell you $25-$30 part for $390.

May 2025, Indianapolis, Indiana... Was shopping at Lowe's and a young man approached me about their HVAC partnership with ARS Rescue Rooter. Since I was planning to purchase equipment in the future I agreed to an in house visit and quote, mainly to help him earn a commission. The sales tech that visited was personable and professional but the quoted prices were ridiculous and over double what I felt was reasonable. I stated "we're done, that pricing is way to high". He called a sales manager who immediately dropped the price by 26%. I felt it was to still to high so he left. 2 hours later I received a call reducing the price by another by another 26%. The following day I got a quote from a local HVAC company for the same brand and models of equipment. The initial ARS pricing was 2.2 times higher than the local company and 13% less than the ARS lowest price.
After experiencing this I have no respect for the ARS sales technique... In my opinion it's designed to identify uniformed, inexperienced or overly trusting home owners by affiliation with the Lowes brand name and grossly overcharge them. I don't blame the salesman, I believe he is only following company instructions. If you are the kind of person who likes haggling over pricing ARS might be for you. I prefer dealing with people and companies that are reasonably priced right from the start. Get several quotes before you buy.

ARS is great at sales, but that’s where it ends! I’ve at least 5 unreturned calls/ messages with ARS regarding a media cartridge that needed to be replaced. NOBODY CALLED BACK! I had a scheduled service call for today between 10-2. Nobody showed up. I’ve called at least 3 times to try and get an updated arrival time. Dispatch doesn’t answer or return calls either. I would NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone!

I’ve been a loyal ARS customer for nearly 13 years, first in North Carolina and now in Georgia through the Columbia, SC branch. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. On April 4, 2025, I contacted ARS about a lack of cool air from my HVAC system. Mr. Roger ** arrived the next day and diagnosed a leaking evaporator coil, which was under warranty. A few days later, he returned with his son and a replacement coil, which also leaked. He then discovered a separate leak in the HVAC line.
On April 14, I received a repair estimate of $3,624 for the line and $2,638 for the coil. I found another company that resolved the line issue for under $2,000 and confirmed the coil was functioning properly. What upset me most was ARS’s lack of communication. I made 11 calls between April 8 and May 1 with no response, and even their dispatcher failed to return calls. Despite renewing my maintenance program, I’ve received no reply to my refund request. Given the poor service, lack of follow-up, and inflated pricing, I can no longer recommend ARS and will be moving my business elsewhere.

Horrible service! Uncontrollable calls from different people to schedule maintenance, not abiding by the contract of every six months. They do not read the account information and call from different offices about 4 to 5 times a week. Send technicians when not asked for just to push up work not needed. All technicians are forcing to buy a new air conditioner even when not needed, very aggressive. Extremely difficult and almost impossible to buy filters, I need to call about 10 or more times to different phone numbers and get no resolution, it becomes an aggravating full-time job for something so simple. It appears that because they turned into a monopoly that they are abusing customers.

I am extremely disappointed with the service (or lack thereof) provided by ARS/Allgood Home Services. My family and I have been living without heat for an extended period, despite having a brand-new HVAC system that is only 1.5 years old; purchased July 2023. The condenser broke down, and we have made repeated calls to both the service department and the manager with no response or resolution. In addition, we were quoted almost $1,000 in labor cost for them to fix my brand-new HVAC system from their company. This level of disregard for customer concerns is unacceptable. We trusted ARS/Allgood with our home's comfort, and they have failed us completely. I strongly advise ALL others to steer clear of this company if you value timely, effective service, and your family’s lives.

I needed my HVAC system replaced as mine was almost 20 years old and started having issues. They gave me the best price on a new system compared to the other companies in the area. I upgraded from a single stage to a two stage system and that is when the problems started. This required them to make multiple visits to my house due to not having the proper equipment and upgraded wiring. First time wrong wiring harness. Second time didn’t have the proper equipment for the humidifier. Third time had to relocate the thermostat. Fourth time to fix the drywall from moving the thermostat. Fifth time for the county inspection. They stated when they sold me the unit they would take care of all paperwork to include pulling the building permits and county inspection, which never happened.
After two weeks, I called the county myself, and they stated the inspection and permits were never applied for and the county contacted ARS to get it done. Be sure to follow up with everything in writing or they will just ignore you after the install and sale. They told me to contact customer service so I could get compensated for my missed work and inconvenience of multiple house visits. About a month later after numerous phone calls and emails, I finally got a check for $550 for my 5 days of missed work, this barely covered one day of missed work. A few weeks later I went to turn on the heat and the steam humidifier for the winter and the humidifier was not working and giving me an error code E3. A different tech came out said that the circuit board on the humidifier must have got damaged during the install of the new HVAC and needed to be replaced.
About two weeks later new parts were installed and still didn't not work. After doing some diagnostics the tech found that the outside heat pump was not wired properly during install and that was causing the whole system not to communicate properly. After the wiring was repaired everything seems to be working properly now. Happy they finally sent me a pro to fix this but the loss of now 6 days of work was just not worth it and they have yet compensate me properly for my lost time. Yesterday I got a check in the mail for another $555.00 that barely covers my missed time from work and took months of phone calls and emails just to get this.

So, I purchased a brand-new system from this company. Immediately after install, I started having problems with the unit. NO HEAT!!!! They are great at sending people out for repairs but had no luck fixing it. They would send technicians to my home twice a month to work on this brand-new unit. For two years of repeatedly sending technicians to my house, repair my heat and was not able to make me happy. I had no choice but to call another company this year. I could not deal with another year of high bills because I had to use my stove and heaters to heat my home. I called CASTEEL. Casteel was able to fix the issue in one night compared to two years. I hired them to do seasonal check ups on my HVAC. My home is 5 years old. Initially on the first visit, the ac unit pipe needed some cleaning because there was algae growing in it. I just had them come out to do seasonal checks on the furnace and was told the heat exchanger was leaking. I was quoted 3600 for labor to change out the part that was under warranty. The technician said that the part would not be able to come from the factory for 120 days. And he would have to shut down my system in the meantime. The other option was to get the comfort care team out to give me a price for a whole new furnace.
In the meantime, my boyfriend came home and the technician then said that the warranty department would reach out to other ARS people in the area about finding that heat exchanger part that’s under warranty and that somebody would call me the next day about it. No one has called me. I canceled the furnace estimate. And a second company came out and said there is no leak. They are just trying to take advantage and sell a whole new system.

In June 2022, I paid nearly $10,000 for a new AC unit from ARS Manassas, an investment I’m still paying off. But on September 28, 2024, just two years later and still under warranty, the unit broke down. The biggest disappointment, however, has been ARS's complete lack of customer care. For three weeks, I called every other day, pleading for assistance, but never received a single callback. Each time, I was told my case was being sent to the warranty department. After being ignored for so long, I even had to call the manufacturer, Carrier, myself. It was as if ARS simply didn't care once they had my money.
The only people I could reach were dispatchers. One of them, based in Texas, was stunned by the lack of response from their own company and gave me the corporate office number. Even that led to a dead end, no one answered, and my voicemails went unreturned. When ARS finally did reach out, it was only to schedule a service call after repeatedly asking if I would be paying the service fee. No empathy, no urgency just a focus on billing rather than resolving my issue. This experience left me feeling not just disappointed but completely disregarded. Large companies like ARS may easily win business, but their service leaves customers stranded and abandoned. I would strongly urge anyone to consider local businesses that actually stand behind their work and value their customers beyond the initial sale.

10/28/2024 They came out today to install and replace my 30 year old working furnace that quality checks 2xs a year. I had my other contractor state since my wonderful York furnace was getting older that I should consider replacing it in case in the winter if it goes bad there is no parts for it. IT was working fine and toasty today before they switched. Salesperson came Friday, they installed Monday. When they were done the lead tech told me that they could not get my air conditioner to work. Now it was in the 80's last week and it worked fine. No problems. So now that they changed out my system it was not working and I wanted to speak to a supervisor and the techs left and sent over a bill from corp. signing my name illegally and spelled it wrong and I am so upset. I called in and was told that a supervisor will call me in 2 to 3 days. Unacceptable. As a realtor I give great referrals and not today.

Negative stars. They sold me a lemon machine for $7000, I say lemon since it has leaked twice in 6 years causing initially $1245 worth of repairs after 2 years and now $2500 4 years later. After calling them we waited a day for them to not show up, they kept saying someone will call you they are behind. At one point a CS told me the one before didn't do something right and then he didn't schedule it. It was 2 days in 89 degree house getting pushed around and lied to about the when they would come.
Finally a tech shows up at 7pm Sunday. The tech finds the leak within an hour and then spends 1 hour in his car developing the quote, so around 9pm until he is back in my house. He tells me $2500 so I explain why that is absurd and I ask him to explain and itemize it. He tells me we don't do that, I am not sure and can't tell you for sure. Excuse me- you don't know why you are putting that absurd number in my face and asking me to pay it? How much is the refrigerant? I don't know, How much is your labor cost? I don't know. How much is admin costs? I don't know. You took an HOUR to develop this quote- how do you not know anything?
Finally after lots of back and forth and me getting downright exhausted as I am hot tired and haven't slept well now in two nights he discounts by $500 via a manager on the phone and I tell him I just need to get this going however, this is not done, I am not satisfied and I will be taking this further. The manager calls me the next day and says I'm right, the system shouldn't be doing this to me but all he can do is discount a tiny bit more and he brings the bill to $1675. The next day I am at work (normally I WFH but I had meetings), my husband is home, the repair tech shows up and fixes the system in 1.5 hours and then spends 1.5 hours in his car developing the quote (I guess). He comes back in and tells my husband that will be $1769, my husband tried to get in touch with me but I'm in DND for these meetings. He pays the man.
I have now been charged twice to my account, once for the initial discounted $2200 and now $1769. I have attempted to get this corrected now for 2 days and they have despite telling me it would be fixed not fixed it, I have talked to countless agents. Run far, far away from this company and do not purchase a Rheem unit of any find. They are thieves.

After being told I need a $400 "chemical cleaning" of my almost new equipment, I decided I would no longer use ARS for HVAC services. Now, 2 years later, I'm getting call after call, sometimes 2 in a day, saying "we don't want to be a pest, but it's time to schedule your service." I have gotten around 15-16 calls in the course of 3 weeks, in spite of my calling them back about 6 times asking to be removed from their call list. The people who I talk with confirm I'm on their do not call list, but I keep getting calls. The last person I talked with said they would remove my phone number from their system, however the next day I got another call.

Absolutely a nightmare. To begin schedule appointment on a Friday no ac. I got a call 45 minutes after the schedule appointment saying they over schedule. Moving to Sunday they show up 30 minutes after the schedule time with no update saying they were running behind. They came and within 30 minutes said I needed a blower. Moving to Monday was told that the service manager was going to call me and blew me off and left for the day. If it wasn’t for Scott the manager I would have been completely out of AC for weeks. This company is a nightmare and doesn’t care about general customers. They are clueless to giving updates on part order and are TERRIBLE WITH UPDATES.

If we fail to do so, not only will we fix for free, but we will also write you a check for $550." I reported fails of the equipment June 3, June 5 on the thermostat. To date it has not been resolved, so I wrote Edwin ** a certified letter (they received 6/18/2024 at 14:31) with a list of complaints and requested the unit. I bought my house new in 2020 and ARS was the installer of my heating and AC. Over the past several years I have continuously had issues with both heating and AC and have had to call ARS back out to fix it. I have a labor and parts warranty through ARS which is the ONLY reason I keep using them. They often miss their arrival windows and do not call to let you know, their HVAC employees are either incompetent or purposely misleading and lying and they ALWAYS fail to fix the problem. This is not an isolated incident this has been ongoing over the last 4 years. I have had them out to my house over 15 times in the last 4 years to fix what was supposed to be a brand-new unit.
Every time they come out their techs seem to be clueless and last time they tried to charge me $2,500 to fix something under warranty. I had to threaten to sue them (which I may still do) because I’ve never had so many issues with a new unit and a new house. The last guy that came out tried to blame the manufacturers of the system saying that they were making parts cheap now and they aren’t meant to last more than a couple years. I’m at my end with this company as a whole. Incompetence isn’t their worst quality unfortunately, their customer service is also really terrible and their lower-level managers have zero interest in doing the right thing.
The HVAC guy that came to my house yesterday took three hours to figure out he had the wrong part so he couldn’t fix my system then after he left my faceplate stopped working so I have no ability to heat my first-floor house and I have a newborn. After reading other comments, this company needs a massive lawsuit in order to learn a lesson and I’m headed that way. Unfortunately, others on this thread may not have the means to do it but I certainly do and I feel like organizing a class action suit against them. I’ve never seen such negligence, incompetence and idiotic management. If you have a choice DO NOT use ARS.

A/C was installed January 2023. I made numerous calls for service starting in July 2023. A few technicians showed up to inspect my unit but still no resolution. None of them followed up with me when they said they would. Once a manager came out and made promises, but he also never followed up. I called again yesterday because I am still having an issue with my A/C. I was told all managers were in a meeting and someone would call me back. Nobody called back and nobody has called me back today. Each person that showed up for the service call said it could be an issue with the thermostat, but as of now they have failed to replace it. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

BEWARE. YOU'LL PAY THOUSANDS FOR A JOB AND PAY THOUSANDS MORE FOR LANDSCAPING. Despite their satisfaction "guarantee", they add to contracts that they can destroy your yard, and are not liable for it. In May of 2023 I had to have a sewer clean out installed for easier access to clogged clay pipes. During the process of this installation, the workers did not use proper equipment, recklessly tore up my yard, even managed to take 2 chunks out of a tree ON OPPOSITE SIDES. I still don't even know how that happened. They made no effort to preserve my yard carefully as they should have been trained to do. Ideally they were supposed to lay out plywood overlaying each one on top of each other so that they could place all of the spoils on top of the plywood while digging. After properly compacting in increments they would put the grass back that they cut out or level it off and if it was settled to where it needed more dirt they would bring in more dirt.
What they DID do, They dug a huge hole in the wrong direction before finding the pipe and promptly breaking it. Despite having the trench box to get in and out of the hole safely, they did not use it. When their supervisor came, he asked ME if they had. After the pipe was installed they proceeded to fill the hole haphazardly. And left an absolute DISASTER behind, including the flags just lying around. When I brought this up to the supervisor he offered to pick up the flags... When pressed he said they could come seed grass... for an additional cost! All the while he assured me this is how it's supposed to be. But my father worked for this company and knows their policies and procedures, he was absolutely horrified by the unprofessional work.
I tried giving the mound of mess more time settle, but the no man's land they left behind was so embarrassing I reached out with photos showing how lumpy and awful it all looked, knowing how expensive it would be to fix, I wanted a refund. Instead upper management offered to come seed the mound. I am not usually one to complain or argue with businesses so I accepted.
My Dad was still bewildered with the job and contacted local upper management as a former employee again to discuss the satisfaction policy and the fact that the job was not a 4k quality job. The man he contacted proceeded to argue with him to the point of inviting my Dad to come here from Utah to FIGHT HIM. I was so embarrassed by the conflict I reached out again to apologize and accept the offer for grass seeding and waited to see if it would be okay, and didn't want to press any further. Some time after the grass had started to pop up (they had taken some dirt away, seeded over the lumps of dirt), I saw that the hole was several inches deep into the ground on the sides. I contacted them saying as much, so they did a second grade and seed with soil. (Which I was grateful for at the time.)
Here I am in spring, it is unsalvageable and I will have to spend even more for landscaping. It's cracking along the edges of the mound and so lumpy we can even mow. It's frightening to walk on and frankly I'm terrified we'll be several thousand dollars out again if the pipe has settled wrong. I have refrained from poor reviews, I've tried to be kind, and I've tried to have it explained by a professional. I tried to contact them again about a refund to no such luck. They feel they've been accommodating, and I would agree had the jobs been done properly. However it was just messy mistake after messy mistake and I feel taken advantage of for having tried to trust them multiple times. It genuinely has twisted me up to try to stand up for myself or feel I'm hurting anyone's feelings but, there it is.

Technician name tag "Paul" came with unfriendly attitude, diagnose heater problem like 10 mins (don't see any tools, tool bag carry along with him) and judge the circuit board has been fried with throwing "A Bunch of ERROR codes" ?? without explaining the reason of issue and issue location. This will cost another ~ $500-600 labor to fix with part warranty.
There is a loop hole scam that I aware from this guy, which I have hired different heater professional that found the issue of defected limited replay sensor module (nothing to do with the fried circuit board) and fixed within 2 days. Secondly, I thought I had signed up for a tuneup. The only thing that happened was just a look over. I already knew I wanted to replace it after I replace a couple other things. I wanted to do a tuneup to help it last just a little longer while I did. Nothing was actually tuned up. Very misleading. Unfortunately zero stars is not an option. Anyone thinking about going through ARS, do yourself a favor and do not waste your time. We had an HVAC (Heat pump and fan coil) replacement in July. It is now almost September and it is not complete. They have been to our house 6 times so far with at least 1 more visit needed. Luckily I work from home or I would have used all my vacation time dealing with them. The AC portion of my HVAC has already stopped working twice (again the system is not even 2 months old). The first time it stopped working, it was discovered that the wiring inside the heat pump was not properly installed and everything was burned up and melted, it makes me real happy to know that this could have caught fire if the breaker wouldn't have tripped when it did.
We also found out the heat did not work and was never tested. I guess we are lucky the AC stopped working or else we would have found out about the heat issue once winter was here. To make everything more frustrating, we spend $13,000 on this replacement, by far not the cheapest. However ARS claimed to provide the best support and service. Survey says, that's a lie. I have requested the manager for the area reach out to me multiple times, however that continues to be ignored. So now 2 months later I have a half working system, cannot get a manager to reach out to me and still have to spend my days waiting around for ARS to come back again and (maybe) finish the job. I won't even get started on the mess that was left behind either. ARS has no problem charging us the full $13,000 for the install however.
So now I am paying for a system that doesn't work and never has worked...to me this seems a lot like theft. I get it, installs like this can be tricky and issues can arise, but when they do, have the decency to reach out and try to amend the situation. But don't worry, ARS will comment that they are sorry and I can reach out to their quality assurance manager to voice my concerns as if this will magically make everything better.

In August 2020 Rescue Rooter installed a brand new unit in my home. In June 2023 the unit started acting funny. I noticed it would freeze up. I called them out to check on the unit. The guy came out and charged me a service fee. I thought nothing of it. The guy checks the unit and then proceeds to tell me to get it fixed that I would have to pay roughly $1300. I was in total shock like what. He said that I had a leak around one of the coils and that the housing had to be replaced. I said I have a 10 year warranty and it has not even been 3 years and now I have a damaged coil. He says yes you have a warranty the parts will be covered but there is a labor fee. Over $1000 for labor. That is not how that works.
The guy then tells me oh yeah the company that makes these units use cheap parts so they break down faster. Like what!!! Had I know this I would have not purchased a unit through ARS rescue. I would have taken my business elsewhere. I feel I should not have to pay anything out of pocket for a unit that was poorly made and ARS Rescue Rooter is aware of the poorly made parts. This should be fixed for free.
Then on top of that I was suppose to have yearly maintenance on the unit. I have not had anyone come out to service the unit in the last 2 years that I have had the unit. This company is a joke and ripping people off. To resolve my issue I want the repairs (freon added, the coil housing fixed and I want my yearly maintenance completed) for free under the warranty. This company is truly conducting unethical business practices. At all costs steer completely away from this company. Choose anybody else because they will try and ripe you off. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will file a complaint with everyone until this issue is resolved.

The AC fan stopped. The tech said it was the float switch--and apparently, replaced it. He also said the drain line needed to be cleaned. He spent 11 minutes in my attic working and then announced the bill was nearly $600! I looked up the float switch part's cost and it was $20. There are no parts involved for cleaning the drain line. He wanted $339 just to clean the drain line! It didn't end there either! A week later, the fan stopped working again. The same tech said the unit needed freon and that that would resolved the fan issue. Didn't sound legit, but went ahead and had it done. It was $352 for two lbs of freon.
Two hours later the fan stopped working again! Called 'em back and a different tech came out AND discovered the drain line was clogged! So, the original tech did not clean the drain line and tried to charge $339 to do so. And I seriously doubt he replaced the float switch! This company is all about trying to get as much of your money as they can!! I suspect their techs are getting add'l pay for running up the bill on folks! Stay away!!!

I scheduled an appt. back in May and the day of the appointment I had to call them to find out where the technician was. They apologized and said they had a new company taking over the scheduling for this and to contact them. I did and they said the techs were too busy with emergencies and could not come out that day. Of course I took time off of work to be here for this. We rescheduled.
They called me the day before that appt. and had to reschedule again due to emergencies. This has happened 5 times now. Two service technicians have been to our home and failed to fixed the problem and made us wait days for the wrong part. They make promises and then break their word. They don’t respond to phone calls. They arrive hours late for their appointments without explanation or regard for your schedule.
I legitimately felt they put my family’s health at risk in dangerously cold conditions. I’m not sure if they are really that incompetent or they genuinely don’t care about other human beings. I finally was so desperate to get heat for my family I asked if I could pick up the parts myself and install them, but ARS of course said no. It’s all about what’s convenient for them, your family’s needs are irrelevant to ARS. If I could give them zero stars I would.

BUYER BEWARE! STAY AWAY! Read all reviews as they all mirror the same complaints. Back in October of 2019, I went through Home Depot to have a brand new HVAC system installed in my home. All new ductwork, handler, and unit. They contracted out the work to ARS in Vero Beach, FL. Brennan ** came to my home and presented all sorts of guarantees as well as a $750 rebate upon signing. All lies.
Since this time I had numerous issues with their service and product. This company has destroyed the exterior of my home by drilling holes in the stucco as well as the electrical. The unit has not run properly (leaks, freezes up, doesn't cool down) for more than 5 months at a time, and now I have an abundance of black mold growing from the handler. After inspecting the ductwork myself, that installation is just as bad and has a disconnect at the phylum where cool air is leaking into the attic. The ARS techs acknowledge this was the cause of the black mold and constant leaks on the handler and compressor - as the system has to work harder than it should, building up pressure.
The customer relation number is pointless and forget about the online contact form working. I reached out to the manager of ARS in Vero Beach this past October when the system went down again. This conversation turned into a screaming fit as he tried to feed me the "they don't make these units like they used to" crap. I also asked about the black mold growing all over the air handler and was told this was normal, esp in Florida. The techs have acknowledged "severe growth" on several invoices and recommended full replacement of all ducts for contamination. This was not done. Only a part of the phylum (entire phylum is soaked and molded) was replaced. The last tech that came in sealed the air handler so I can no longer open it to check for interior mold.
I have filed complaints with the county contractor licensing as I'm finding out ARS lied on the permit, stating they did not do any duct work - so it was not inspected. I'm also filing complaints with the state attorney's office and BBB as ARS lied about their warranties and guarantees. I never received my $750 rebate I was promised upon signing the contract, never received the $555 check when ARS wasn't able to service within 24 hours (multiple times), I asked several times for my money back and denied and they lied about their professional installation guarantee.
Sure the unit works for now. But I'm positive it will break again in another 5 months to stay on par. I'm done with ARS and do not want them in my home. I'm at a crossroads and want to bring in a professional HVAC company. No company is going to want to touch this unit as it has been duct taped, glued and put back together so many times. I can't imagine anyone would be happy paying as much as I did with this piecemealed equipment, growing black mold. I'm on my 4th sinus infection this year alone. I'm so heartbroken that Home Depot would continually stand behind this company. I’m attaching photos just some of the photos of the crap installation I’ve been dealing with.

But, so happy that they showed me how I would be treated afterwards. I must say their call center deserves an A+. They were kind, courteous and very approachable but too bad I can’t say the same for their service because I really wanted to work with this company but it’s apparent they loo pick and choose which customers they want to serve. Please Google this company and read my review as well as many others. So sad to be treated like this!

BBB Complaint (25 October 2021)
On October 19th, I filed my second BBB complaint. Shortly after filing my complaint, the corporate representative called me and informed me that she had looked into my case and was going to look into giving me an option for refund or having a replacement air scrubber unit installed into our home. I opted for a refund since we are ready to put this house onto the market for sale. In her reaching out to provide some kind of conciliatory intervention, I was prepared to retract my last BBB complaint. On October 25th, she called me back to inform me that the only thing ARS would do was to replace the defective unit in the house that I sold two months ago and no longer have any connection with! She said this decision was made in accordance with honoring the warranty.
The issue is that I called for service in a reasonable period of time before the house was sold and they failed to respond appropriately or responsibly. It appears that from the outside looking on, they knew that if they stalled long enough, the issue would go away because there would be nothing they could do since the contract for the warranty was under my name and attached to that particular address. That is what ARS has been telling me throughout this litigation and now they are telling me that they can replace the air scrubber at a house that we sold two months ago and have no connection with?
How is that supposed to reconcile or benefit my investment of almost $1,300.00 having paid for something that was defective? If this was one issue in and of itself, I might have been able to walk away from this. But, we went six weeks this Spring with no air conditioning because they misdiagnosed an issue where I was going to have to pay $560.00 for a new control unit not to mention labor. I received no phone calls to inform me the status of the part that they were waiting for. I was the one that had to call them to find out what was happening. When the part came in, the tech informed me that it was not the control unit that was bad, it was a faulty thermostat that was under warranty and was replaced at no charge. This thermostat was replaced less than a year prior because of a defective thermostat out of warranty that we paid for.
In 2015, we had ARS install two new heat and air units. In 2016, one month after the one year warranty expired, one of my units quit working because the compressor went bad. I had to go through Corporate to address the issue because ARS told me that I was going to have to pay for the replacement compressor! Come to find out, the unit was improperly installed and caused the compressor to burn out. ARS fixed the issue and replaced the compressor but not without having to go up the chain of command.
I have been with ARS for six years and have had other numerous issues that have not been as egregious as the three I have just mentioned. I have given them grace and extended patience hoping that I could appreciate their motto "Making it move, making it right." Touting their, "Exceptional Service" and their Guaranteed Satisfaction stating: "If you are dissatisfied with our work in your home, within one year of the date of the original invoice, we'll make every effort to meet your expectations & cheerfully refund 100% of your money."
Through the six years that I have used their company, they have fallen short of their exceptional service guarantee. This company is overrated with a three star rating! ARS's response to my BBB complaint was nothing more than checking a block for the company and inflammatory to their "Exceptional Service Guarantee"! ARS needs to eliminate their "Exceptional Guarantee" motto! I paid $1,300.00 for a defective unit under warranty that they will nothing to make it right!

On December 30, 2020, we purchased a $12,000 air conditioning unit from ARS. I explained to the salesman that my sister is an MS patient and cannot get overheated. He claimed this unit was the very best and that there was a guarantee that if they could not fix any problem within 24 hours, ARS would provide a hotel room or portable units to keep my home comfortable. At the beginning of July, the air quit working. After a day, the technician discovered that the installers had not securely attached the duct. The duct had been leaking, possibly since December, and had finally blown off entirely. Thanks! We love to pay to air condition the great Florida outdoors!
Then at the beginning of August, we began having issues with low voltage. Several techs came out and worked on it, replaced some parts, and stated that they might ought to put new wiring in place so they would talk to their service manager. No one ever followed up on that or offered to send a more knowledgeable tech out. Finally on Friday, August 6, the unit began making a banging noise and I called again. They told me no one could come out until the next day. A tech came out on Saturday afternoon after we had had no air for over 24 hours. He fiddled with the unit and finally said that it needed a board which would have to be ordered and would arrive in 2 to 3 days. I was not happy and began calling every number I could find including the salesman who sold us the unit. No one cared and no one tried to be helpful. They put me off and kept saying they would tell a supervisor. No supervisor ever got in touch.
I purchased portable units for over $800 so I could at least cool two bedrooms and keep my sister cool. Here we are on Monday, August 9 with no air conditioning in the house. I have called everyone again and they are now saying it could be 2 or more days before they can fix the air. This unit is less than 8 months old and it was the "best", most expensive unit they sell. The salesman guaranteed their service would be the "best" and most responsive possible. I am sad, disappointed, mad, and feeling cheated by this company.

They did the unit replacement but failed to replace the 30 amp breaker with a 20. They didn’t bring the filters so I had to use the “cut yourself” type that I happened to have on hand. They didn’t clean out seal the ducts and when I call to get these things scheduled they say they’ll call back and never do. I even called to find out what size filter I need, they say they’ll have the parts department call but they never do. This is a trash company, don’t use them for anything if you want it done right.

I had a drainage block caused by a broken pipe underneath the concrete slab in my basement. I called ARS Rescue Rooter and that was my biggest mistake. In their 1st visit, Andrew from ARS was able to unclog the drain pipe for $500 but submitted me a totally wrong diagnosis of the problem. He gave me a $6k estimate for fixing a root intrusion in the drainpipe in my front yard that was totally unrelated to the issue. The drain blockage returned immediately after 3 weeks.
Then Chad from ARS did a good job of diagnosing the problem correctly. He submitted me an estimate of 6.5K to dig a 3x3 ft hole in the concrete slab in my basement to investigate the broken pipe and replace it. Ronnie and Robert from ARS did a good job and fixed the plumbing issue in a day so I could use restrooms etc. However, they left a 3x3 ft hole in my basement for 3 days.
Later another guy, *Jeremiah* from ARS came to fill the concrete hole. He did a shady job of preparing the sub-grade without even compacting it. Knowing very well there is a bit of void underneath it and more crushed stone should be needed. He was ready to pour concrete but when I stepped on the sub-grade, it just disintegrated. He then complained to his office that the customer caused an issue and charged me an extra $600 bucks for it. I just caught him leaving a sinkhole under the concrete. Due to time crunch and not wanting a sinkhole in the basement, I agreed to pay for it. Robert from ARS bought extra bags of rocks to prepare the subgrade and then poured concrete on top. I am still doubtful if they poured the concrete correctly. Stay away from ARS Rescue Rooter especially if you see *Jeremiah* come to work! He is dishonest and a liar.

I am a single mother who lives in an efficiency apartment in my home and rent out the other various space to provide an income for my daughter and I. In Feb 2020 I received a call from the tenant that the air heat wasn't working. I immediately began calling around to try and get someone to come and see what needed to be done. My unit was several years old so my fear was that it was a significant repair. The customer service I received while scheduling someone to come out was great. She had someone arrive that very day! He turned the switch on and heard the sound it was making and turned it off to do the remaining inspection. He showed me rust inside the unit and said with the noise it made trying to light he was not going to let it continue running and was going to contact the sales rep to get me a quote.
The sales rep came out, he was pleasant enough, we spent much time talking about his personal affairs! Before I agreed to buy a new unit, I had said several times that even though I had not smelled propane that surely it couldn't be something as simple as needing propane, to which that was not addressed and we continued to talk about the age and condition of the inside of the unit. The installer came out very quickly, within a very short time and I actually left him there to run back to work, I came home to find the invoice on the table with the information that the unit wouldn't heat because I was OUT OF PROPANE!??? So, I now owe close to 8k on a unit that had some age on it but was not heating because I had no propane. It would come on and try to ignite and there was no propane so it would just sit and hum and then kick off.
On March 1, I received a text from the sales rep saying my payment couldn't go through because the amount was too large. I responded immediately. I responded again on March 2 to the sales rep through personal text, as that was how we had already connected initially. I told him how discouraged I was that I had the propane guys out that very day to fill and my tank was completely empty. He did not respond to this but said that I could call the office to get payment processed or mail a cashiers check. On 3/1/21 I communicated w/ someone about my payment and told them I would get with the bank about raising the limit so my payment could be processed. I also told them I would like to see what we could do as I had bought a unit without the tech checking the propane and what could be done.
I spoke with Manager Nick on or shortly after 3/11/21 and he was very pleasant at that point and ask me what would make this ok. He ended up knocking 500 or so off the bill and I told him that would at least cover the propane so I would try to call in and get the payment processing started. Well, as a single mom working all sorts of jobs life has gotten busy and I had not realized so many days have come and gone since I told him I would get that taken care of. I have had no bills, and I have had no phone calls from anyone at this company.
Yesterday evening at 6pm I was at a holistic doctor's appointment (for my anxiety needs) and my phone rang several times back to back. I was handed my phone as we thought something might be urgent. It was Nick. He stated that they have repeatedly tried to work with me to no end and that this was urgent that the payment get dealt with today as there was already a lien being issued toward my house. There were other words than that but that was the bottom line. I told him I did not dispute that I owed a bill and I wanted to get that taken care of but the inaccurate information and the inappropriate way that he used to talk with me was very inappropriate. To this he continued that the information was NOT inaccurate and that there were multiple documentations of phone calls to me. He agreed that he could get me that documentation. I told him I needed to call him as I was in a place where I couldn't get this resolved (Dr's Office).
After I left I called the number I had for the office and Daniel talked very pleasant with me. I ask her to tell me the documentation that was under my account regarding phone calls or bills etc.... I ask her if the accounting department had been making calls to me would they be listed under my account and she said yes. I then called Nick at the number he had given to me. He advised that the payment had to be dealt with now as it's too late for anything else to happen. I told him the debit would not go through as the amount was too high and I could meet someone in the morning to give them a check, I also ask for the documented information of the attempts to collect this debt. He said, "I am not going to go back and forth, you've already received the FedEx and it's too late for anything more!"
My phone showed another number ringing just as Nick was being inappropriate and completely unprofessional. In a threatening way telling me there was no further options past getting the payment tonight! I Elaine from ARS had left me a message saying there was a big misunderstanding and could I please call her ASAP. I called, she clarified that she had checked and I had not received the FedEx and that she was calling back the FedEx and that there would be no lien on my house if I could let her know how we were going to settle things and move forward. She apologized several times for Nick, which was not her place to do. Nick was completely threatening and inappropriate. She and I spoke for almost 30 min and I agreed to mail a check this morning. When she pulled up my account the amount does not show that Nick took off the 600$. It still shows I owe $7800. Elaine told me to go ahead ad send the $7200 and get this settled.
This morning I text to get Nick's email, which he sent immediately. I emailed him within minutes to verify that my account has been corrected and that when they receive the $7200 that my balance will be zero so I do not get a threatening a call months for now for non payment. He has yet to respond. I emailed him at 8 am and then text him asking for confirmation that he received, he did not respond. It has been 4 hours and I have received no response. I am waiting on a lawyer to advise me how I can send this check but safely be paid in full to prevent any further contact with this company.

Net-net, this company is the epitome of what a scam is. These guys not only try to shove a new AC down your throat but also first sabotage your existing AC unit first in the name of an inspection! I had never done an AC health check before, I decided to have one done when a person approached me at Home Depot. I agreed to a $20 health check.
ARS Rescue Rooter tech came to my house and did an inspection and after the inspection was complete, he informed me that my AC is about to die. He showed me that the outside unit had ice deposits on the pipes which meant that the AC would malfunction any day and that I needed a new AC. My AC is made by Carrier and only 6 years old. The tech charged me $119 dollars and told me that he would send a “Comfort Advisor” to do an estimate for a new AC. This wasn’t the end of the scam.
An hour later a guy comes over with a lot of material and sits down with me and the first question he asks is “how much would you like to spend? We have AC’s ranging from $5000 up to $20,000”. During this time, I have no intention of buying an AC unit because my AC works just fine. I listen to this guy’s pitch and tell him that I at least need a second opinion before I completely change my AC out. To this the sales rep gets aggressive and starts trying to bargain with me. I politely tell him to give me a written estimate on a few AC’s and that I will contact him later if I need a new AC unit. Sufficed to say that after about half hour of trying to get him to leave, he leaves.
About a few minutes later when my AC is supposed to kick on, I notice that the outside unit is running but the inside unit is not turning on. I call ARS Rescue Rooter again and they say that someone should be there within an hour. I wait the whole day and no one shows up. The next day morning the lead tech from ARS calls me up in a very impolite tone and says: “Sir, we diagnosed your AC unit and determined that it needs to be changed out. We gave you an estimate for a new AC and you refused to get it, what do you want from us?”
At this point I am very angry. My AC was working perfectly for years until ARS got involved. I tell them that their services are no longer required. I call another small business that only repairs AC units (someone that my neighbors have used and trust) and the tech comes over and tells me that I absolutely do not need a new AC. He orders a part which was damaged and replaces it and my AC works fine now. He said my AC is good as new.
I call ARS Corporate and tell them and they say that they are going to investigate the matter. At the end of 2 weeks of investigation they sent me a check of $119 (the original cost of the service that they had performed). I told them that I will not be encashing the check and that instead I will be writing a review of my experience so that no one else falls in their trap in the future. Even today, the calls from ARS keep coming in for me to get another “AC Inspection”. Home Depot: if you are reading this, tying up your name with ARS Rescue Rooter is just the best way to ruin your own reputation as a company. Cut ties with these scam artists ASAP. I am a home depot patron but I am questioning if I should remain so just because I got scammed so badly with ARS.

I bought a Rheem furnace in December of 2018 and had ARS install it. In November 2019 the furnace would not turn on. I had to pay the ARS to come out and blow water out of the pressure switches. They didn’t say why this was happening just told me that the furnace was working now. Come November 2020 we go to turn on the furnace again and it will not turn on. I called ARS out to figure out what the problem was. I paid them again and they told me that the pressure switches had gone bad, keep in mind this is a 22 month old furnace and the cost for replacing the pressure switches is a third of the cost of the entire furnace. The guy said that even though the furnace was less than two years old sometimes “the pressure switches just go bad in these furnaces”.
I decided that I needed a second opinion because there was clearly something wrong and ARS was either too incompetent or slimy to tell me what the issue was. A second company came out and immediately told me that the furnace has been installed incorrectly. ARS had tied in the flu into my hot water flu. This explains why the pressure switches kept getting filled with water. I called and told ARS what the competent company had uncovered. They sent out a Field supervisor to take a look. The field supervisor said that it had indeed been installed incorrectly in that the flu never should have been connected to the hot water flu.
Since then, they refuse to call me back. I cannot get corporate or the branch office to do anything about refunding me for the pressure switches or the diagnostic costs. They say they are going to call me at 7:30 AM, then they don’t call, then I called them and reschedule it for the afternoon, then they don’t call, then I try and call them back and no one answers. The only reason that I found out that they had been lying to me is because I paid another company to come take a look at the installation. It is now officially an entire month that I have been trying to get this company to fix their mistake. Now I am out money from the two diagnostic tests that they lied about, the real diagnostic test from the other company, and I have a two-year-old furnace that is installed wrong and does not work. No reply as of 1pm July 11 so texted that I would contest the charge with Home Depot.
I'm currently looking into contesting the charge with Home Depot credit services. Credit card fraud aside I now have a non-working installation that has failed both the county inspection AND the actual use of the units. The company refuses to answer my inquiries and the most frustrating thing about this is that Rick clearly knows that he works for a bunch of thieves as one of the things he was most adamant about at the beginning was to contact him before writing a review (which I have, several times now).
I also know from experience that a review calling them out publicly is the only thing that will get them to come fix things, which is the worst part. They actually have people capable of doing the job.. They just won't, until you do something like a review like this. If you have time to be nasty (and have no rush to have your install working) then it may be entertaining for you, otherwise find a company that does their job because it's their job and not because they've made themselves look bad on Facebook, Yelp and Google. Seriously, seriously avoid this company.

Unfortunately for me, I didn't read the Consumer Affairs reports first, but believed the hype of their TV commercials. Reading through these complaints, I see my same problem listed over and over again. I bought a brand new system the end of January 2020. It's an upstairs unit, so I only used the heat occasionally. But in May, I started trying to use the air conditioner, and that's when the problems started. It took less than month, of only minimal use, for the unit to stop working. First a part had to be replaced that was freezing up on one side, causing the unit not to cool and ruining my filter. It took several visits from multiple folks to finally fix that. Then, when it finally cooled, it wouldn't turn off! I sat beside it one night for almost 40 minutes waiting to see if it would turn off once it reached its desired cooling. It never did. I had to turn it off manually before leaving the area.
I can't afford to have an air conditioner that runs continuously, especially when it's supposed to be 'new.' At this time in July, there have been 4 service calls. One technician was supposed to arrive between 12 and 4, but did not arrive until 7:30! That caused him to be in my home until 9:30 p.m. I had been called numerous times telling me he was on his way and would be there shortly. Finally right before he arrived, I told them it was too late and he would have to come another day. They told me he was 7 minutes from my house. Another 30 minutes passed before he arrived. And when he did arrive, he came in having no idea what he was supposed to do. I've been promised a new filter to replace the old one that was ruined from the original leaking problem four different times. Each person is supposed to have ordered it, but when they get here no one has it.
There is no connection at all between the office and the service department. Not one person has arrived knowing what my problem is. How can this be possible? I've had to go through the entire problem every time to the technician. I've actually let them read the reports left by the previous service man so they would know what was going on. I could never recommend this company. In fact I have been so disappointed with this unit, I will go so far as to warn people about them. Like many folks, I'm limited as to how much money I can put into something like this, and heating/air conditioning systems are very expensive. I feel I should have gotten much more for the hefty price of this system. I've been dealing with this problem more than a month, and still not much better off than I was originally. So disappointing.

New tech comes out and charges another $250 dollars and says he will be back later that night to fix it. Calls that night and says he can't come because it is raining but he will be back 1st thing Monday morning. Yesterday (Monday) comes, no tech and no call. We called 5 times with a promise to call back and nothing (mind you we've already paid over $800 for this problem). Today we called and they said the part is on back order for 1-3 days! In the meantime there isn't anything they can do so our house isn't 84 degrees (they are out of floor units at the moment)! Total crap. I've left messages with the manager but I'm not expecting a call back. In the meantime, they can expect a lawsuit if my 5 year old has to go to the hospital for heat exhaustion.

Integrity. So important these days. Before hiring a plumber, I did my due diligence and read through all reviews I could find. Many of the reviews I read on "Rescue Rooter" plumbing were from states other than mine and were negative. My wife and I rolled the dice and went with Rescue Rooter for a plumbing issue we had at our rental property. We were met by Dontae, the plumbing tech, at the time promised. Dontae immediately got to work assessing the problem; we thought it was slow draining drains creating a leak in the low spot of the house, Dontae showed us the drains were fine, and it was a corrupted wax ring on a toilet.
I told him I could fix this myself, and to settle up with my wife for any service call charge owed for coming out so quick (within 2 hrs. of the call placed). Dontae smiled and said words I haven't heard ever by a subcontractor in this decade, " ... no charge today, ma'am ..." with smiling eyes (he had a mask on) ... WHAT?!! A company who had every right to charge a service call, yet they didn't. Wow... All I can say is, in the state of WA (where I reside), if you need a plumber, or plumbing service, you could do a lot worse by going with another company. That, to me, is integrity. I will give this company all of my business (and refer them to all my friends) because of their business practices. THANK YOU Rescue Rooter for making what I thought would be an expensive situation into something I could fix (not that replacing a toilet wax ring is a fun job!).

They came out for sure and actually try to use scare tactics to tell you the system is old and need to be replaced even though the unit works fine. The guy, Brandon, came out and poured water in the drainage valve and says it is clogged and says he cannot check the system and that I needed a plumber to fix the drain first before he can actually so call "tune the system". Brandon got the nerves to call me back a year later to offer me a tune up for $9 to prepare for the summer.

I told them no way and to leave. All I needed was someone to snake it. When they came out they said that they fixed it from the outside and it was good to go, my tenants told me there was still standing water in the sink. I had another plumber go out there and snake it said the cost would be $95. Everything running smoothly now.
ARS showed me some pictures but I was told by other plumbers that they were probably not pictures of my pipes due to them not being able to get these pictures if it was still plugged up. I cannot believe that ARS quoted me $10,000 for a job that cost under $100. They recently did a job for me and charged me 10,000 to fix the pipes under the street from my bathroom, Which I am still paying. I will never use this company again and I hope you won't either.

My Air Conditioning Unit was not cooling properly and they attempted to informed me that the entire unit required replacing. They did not attempt to repair the existing unit only to state that it was old and that the unit was beyond repair although this was not the case. I call in a second opinion from Lee Company and they proceeded to repair the unit by cleaning the coils, replacing the filter and adding additional coolant. This only required about an hour of onsite time from the more than capable Service Technician from the Lee Company and the unit was up and running the cooling efficiently saving both me and my guests from the oppressive heat during that time.
ARS intentionally attempted to upsell my wife who was at the time working with them to resolve the cooling issue to the tune of $5000.00 for a total HVAC System replacement when the unit only required simple maintenance. These people were unprofessional and obviously thought we were not capable of making a better choice for our service needs. I had three heating and air conditioning systems installed by ARS. The first system failed within 3 months. They serviced it, said it was okay and then it failed again six months later and required a new water pump. The second system failed within 9 months and needed a new motor fan. The third system managed to last two years and the condensing fan just quit working last week. The ARS service tech came out and diagnosed the system as having a faulty condensing fan motor. They have a coupon online for a free service call if the repair is done through ARS. They told me that that coupon was expired and they were doing me a big favor by honouring it for me. I happened to look online today and saw that there is a coupon right there for the same thing that is good till the end of September so they basically lied about doing me a big favor.
Secondly all three of the systems they installed failed and failed very recently not like the systems were five or ten years old but failed in 2 years or under and some of that failure could be related to the installation. 3rd they inconvenienced me and my family multiple times. When the systems were inspected they forgot to include the solar protection on the outside piping 3 times. We made appointments for them to come and install this Solar protection and three times they went to the wrong house and even when we told the technician he was at the wrong house he did not go to the correct house. He just left and went home and left us waiting.
By making us wait for all the service calls that they never showed up for they didn't have the decency to even offer me a free service for my inconvenience. I missed work, my daughter missed work twice and my son missed College. I do not recommend this company. There has to be somebody better than this out there. They can't even get the address right. DO NOT USE ARS FOR HVAC NEEDS IN THIS AREA. I got my system replaced in May 2017 because it had a slow acting leak. They told me my options were get it replaced, or get it refilled once a year. So I hired them to replace the whole system. Another year and a half later, it has a slow acting leak and needs to be refilled. When someone came out to perform a diagnostic, they didn't do a leak test and just said the thermostat needs to be replaced. After about 10-15 calls over the course of 2 months, they continually did not send anyone out or contact my property manager to fix the problem, even after a quality manager supervisory told me she would ensure a leak test for no extra charge would happen. I then called their corporate office in Memphis. At first, the lady there, Cynthia, seemed genuinely concerned told me she would get on it. She was surprised when 2 weeks after I called her the first time, nothing had been done.
She told me she took customer issues very seriously and would get to the bottom of it. I got my property manager to call her directly in order to get the scheduling done properly, and according to Cynthia, apparently it is my fault for not getting it serviced after the install was done. I am not sure what that means and no one told me anything else was required after install. I realize that scheduling can be difficult between the owner who lives in a different part of the country, and difficulties happen, but this doesn't seem like good business practice from my point of view.
After 3 months of effort, I have decided that they will never have my business again and I regret having them do the install in the first place. I'm sure ARS is a good company as a whole and in other areas it isn't this bad. ARS in this area of North Charleston may have done better in other areas as well, but in my experience, they should not be hired to do a job. This is merely my opinion, but I repeat, DO NOT USE ARS FOR HVAC NEEDS IN THIS AREA.

I'm writing this on a Sunday morning before 10 AM, since a rather rude person from ARS chose to call me at 9:00 AM on this day. I don't have any problems with the service, per se (I think the plumber could have done things faster if he was more experienced, but I'm ok with the service as a whole), but the way they handled their communication with me was horrible. The plumber charged me $500 for services, which I agreed to, however, when he left yesterday (Saturday), he said that his tablet wasn't allowing him to put in a custom price. Fine, no problem, "just invoice me the correct amount and I'll pay it." Should be easy-peasy.
An ill-tempered woman called me this morning and told me that if I didn't pay the $500, they would put a lien on my home TOMORROW (Monday). Hunh? I still don't have an invoice! I told her that I needed one so that I knew exactly what I was paying for. Her answer was that she would send an invoice AFTER I paid. That would be a receipt, not an invoice. Either way, she demanded that I pay her that moment, which I refused to do since I wasn't in a position to get to a credit card at that time, and, for heaven's sake, I still didn't have an invoice and it's only the day after service.
I'm not sure who this company is used to dealing with, but even the lawnmower kid here sends me an invoice, which I pay well within the 30-day period that is customary for these types of services. I don't need to be called on a Sunday morning and threatened with a lien for the following day. I was actually thinking of writing at least a three or four-star review based on the services, but ARS has successfully screwed that up with their crappy after service. Lien on my house on Monday? Like so many others, I keep getting excuses and the runaround about when they will finally come out, cut the new intake and vent holes the salesman told me I must have in order for my new system to work correctly. For two weeks we've had: the entire upstairs torn apart; the contents of my walk-up attic stuffed in every nook and cranny because the installers said it had to be moved out of the attic for them to get the work down; workmen showing up and then not showing up; no drapes or shades in any upstairs window since they were only supposed to need one day to make the cuts and finish the job.
I could go on but you get the point. I had a second quote for an install through a local company but thought having the backing of Home Depot would result in an all-around better experience, but I was WRONG! Use a local company for your project, not a national chain. National chains use subcontractors and don't stand by the work done by their local subs. BAD experience. And now, based on what I've read here, I'm fearful of what I'll have to go through the first time something goes wrong and I have to call ARS back out to make repairs.

The Good: Most of the technicians who have come to my house have genuinely been sympathetic to the issues we've had. Particularly the young Hispanic men who perform thorough work. The Bad: Warranty replacement of a faulty unit required over 15 site visits. I missed a lot of work to be home for the technicians. Moreover, they conducted repairs that were not needed: 1) Installation of two new air returns, 2) replacement of the entire line set & altering the exterior of my home, 3) the "new" warranty unit was actually not brand new & is faulty. The cost of these home-modifying "repairs" were ~$1400. The amount of work I've missed ~$1200.
The Ugly: I was promised a warranty extension back in 2015, and again in 2016. Not joking here: I have sent repeated emails over the last 3 years asking for the paperwork documenting this and my emails have gone unresponded, even by facility managers. A couple of installers (non-Hispanic) would smoke cigarettes minutes before entering my home- gross and unacceptable. I cannot recommend this company because they have not taken the necessary actions to give me what I've paid for- a brand new AC unit that works. Instead, I've wasted more money and been lied to.

An ARS technician who came for my next door neighbor told me that while he is working he realized from the sound that there is a problem with my A/C unit and he can take a look at it. I said ok. Then he told me to call the office and tell them that he is here and I want service. I called the office, gave the technicians name and told them I want him to look at my A/C unit.
Office sold me a yearly maintenance plan claiming that would save me money, I accepted and registered. Then they said I need to schedule, I said the technician is already here but they said I have to schedule and they will route him, or send someone else. They said they can not route him and make a schedule, I accepted. They gave me a vague time and told me that a technician will call me an hour before he gets here. Nobody called and technician just showed up in the middle of the night. He said a part is broken and it is under warranty and he needs to replace it. Even it is supposed to be warranty they still charged me for the part and for the labor.
Couple weeks later A/C stopped working. I called the office and scheduled someone to come. They said a technician will call me. Nobody called 2 weeks past. Every time I call, I have to tell and spell my name, my address, my phone number, and my email address. I tell them, "Can't you just look up my information," they say no. I don't understand what kind of CSR system they are using but it sucks.
I called today again, I said, "I signed up and paid for yearly maintenance and can you check when it is scheduled." She had no idea about it. I said, "Ok. I like to schedule a service because the unit your technician fixed and replaced a part is not working again." I told her I called 2 weeks ago and nobody called back. Oh, I also filled out the form through their website and no response at all. Anyway, she asked my name and I have to spell my name, my address, my phone and finally my email address again. I am very frustrated and I asked to cancel my subscription and get a refund. She said she will inform the office to contact me. Someone else called next morning, I have to go through same thing. Told her that I want to cancel my subscription and get a refund, she told me someone will call me. If someone else has to do it, why that someone else is not calling me and you are wasting my time again.

ARS / Rescue Rooter Richmond 12916 Old Stage Rd, Chester, VA 23836 (804) 318-5341 - This company is CHEAT, I had issue with my new AC which was installed on July 2015 from the same company (this company is registered agent of Home Depot). I asked them to come and diagnose the issue. They charged $77. First, company send a junior technician, who couldn’t diagnose the issue. I Could not go to the other company as I already paid money.
After 2 days, they send so called Senior technician and in 10 min he found there is a leakage in the coil. He did not check other parts. He told me that parts are under warranty but I would have to pay for the labor which is $1500. I agreed to pay and after one day, he replaced the coil. After changing the coils my AC was not working as expected, so I called them again. This time another guy came and he found issue with my Thermostat. He said the same thing, part is under warranty but I have to pay $240 for labor to replace my thermostat.
My questions to them was when I paid for diagnose charges, why you people did not check everything at that time. I am trying and fighting with the company to replace the thermostat without the charges… or give me the new thermostat I will replace by myself or with some other register agent. They are saying if I do that my warranty on all the parts will be void. Now they are not answering my call... voiding talking to me. I doubt they have changed the coil. I would not recommend to anyone to go with this company. After you pay them the money, they treat you bad. I have already complaint to the Trane Customer Service... They are CHEAT and nonprofessional.

I quickly looked online, found the same unit quoted at anywhere between $1,200 and $1,800. The cost an HVAC tech in my state is an average of $20.00/hour, not including overhead. If you have them come and price something, understand you are paying much more than you should for what you are buying. So, beware.

Well to start off, I hired these people for a hot water heater. I got an estimate for the work. I WANTED a 30 gallon water heater because there are only two people living here and we don't use a lot of water. The technician came in and he wanted us to have a 40 gallon water heater and figured he was right because he told me they don't have 30 gallon water heaters anymore. So I believed him. Signed a contract, the job was 3475 dollars. After he came in, put a large hole in the wall to make better contact with the gas line to the house. Then he put in some line that was curling in a circle and the gas was leaking into the house. That was the first of three days. I had to put towels down next to all the bedroom doors so it would not leak into the rest of the house. I told my husband to shut off the gas line. We are lucky they didn't kill us in the first day.
The next day, he showed up again to finish the work and had to repair the gas line that he broke. So he came in and the 40 gallon water heater that we didn't want. All this time I thought they pulled a permit with the county but they didn't. The job was horribly done and all this time this guy was claiming he was a plumber. So the next day, he connected everything poorly and he was off. I don't remember what he had to do the third day, I think it was to test the line that he put a hole in. With the hole on my utility room and the curly line, found out it wasn't in code when I had a home inspection for insurance. So the county came in and said we needed more work and a reserve tank. Who knows why. They put the reserve on a corner of my washer and I now worry the damn thing is going to fall or something so I put a small rag under it.
They needed to add a drip line and the reserve tank, due to the county's code. So when the tech caught wind of that, he was in full argument with me (the customer). Claiming he was a plumber and I didn't know what I was talking about. About this time I was ready to hit him, but restrained in doing so. Before that I told his company that I didn't want this idiot in my house again. So they didn't listen to me when I called the company to say: "Please don't send this guy back here" but he was there with another guy, who was much politer than the other idiot.
So the other tech completed the work in code but I ended up paying another 300 dollars for the reserve tank, giving me a 15 dollar break for being a return customer. So a 2000 dollar job cost a mere 3700 and they STILL advertise in the state. I had to pay for repairs to the wall behind the tank and still haven't figured out what to do with the reserve tank resting on my washer. The job that was only to take 1 day took three days, much arguing and we almost losing our lives as well as 3 small kittens I was raising. I have never seen how this company can survive, maybe they gassed all their customers to stupidity.

Terrible customer service to a 29 year customer. We had them install our heating and air conditioning systems when we built our house originally. All three systems have since been replaced by them at least once at costs averaging $5000-7,000 per system. We have paid for twice yearly routine maintenance by them for the entire 29 years. Today they were scheduled to come out for routine maintenance and as always we were scheduled to be the technician's 1st call arriving at 8:00 am since we have 3 complete air conditioning and heating systems and it can take them much of the day to complete the service.
When I called customer service at 10:00 to inquire if there had been a delay and what was their ETA they informed me they had been experiencing a lot of emergency calls over the past few days and therefore had decided to pull my technician off my maintenance call to do an emergency call instead. When I asked why I hadn't been informed so that I could have gone to work rather than waiting for them at home all morning they stated they were getting around to informing people such as myself. They certainly decided to redeploy my technician prior to 2 hours after the appointment was scheduled and doing it without even the courtesy of informing a loyal long term customer who had scheduled the appointment months earlier so he could go to work inexcusable.

I had another plumber recommended by a friend that came to my house and he did the job correctly and it was less money and he said the problem was fixed. The Rescue Rooter people had me and my mother scared about this house plumbing for absolutely nothing. They lied just to get us women to spend money that we don't have. ARS advertised repeatedly on CBS Miami for a $19.00 A/C service. I called asked them if it specifically covered cleaning out the safety valve on the air handler (the unit inside an apartment or condo designed to fit in limited space). The scheduler said that is definitely covered. I scheduled a 12-4 window 6 days in advance on a Saturday. On Saturday I called at 9 am to insure I was on the schedule. The agent confirmed the 12-4 window and informed me when the window began I would be contacted with a better time estimate. At 2:30 p.m. I did not receive a call, so I contacted an agent, who checked with dispatch to learn they are running behind because the technicians got a late start after the morning meeting. I opted to keep my appointment.
At 4:26 pm I received a call from the ARS dispatcher that my window would be an hour. I enthusiastically accepted and reiterated that the safety valve on the air handler was my primary objective. The dispatcher checked with the technician who stated the air handler isn’t part of their service. After 4.5 hours of waiting, a unit that is part of installing or servicing A/C in almost any Multiple Dwelling unit an HVAC company might operate is now not included in a simple A/C service. This allowed the technician to get out of a late appointment.

Said they completed the job and after 7 months of triple high electric bills compared to previous months/years, I called them to come see what may be the problem. A young man came and went into my crawl space that I have never been in and came out with pictures. Pictures show NO duct wrapping was done and the main duct was pulled apart from the main duct box by 6 inches letting all air (hot and cold) out under the floor. This was pulled out when they installed a shorter duct reach HVAC system and never completed the job. Robbed me of several thousand dollars.

After hours A.C. repair. While I was away, my wife, 73 yrs. old, home alone and ill, realized A.C. compressor was not running and the house was getting hot around 6:00 PM. We have 2 big dogs and therefore she could not go to hotel. Our regular A.C. repair Co. could not come until the following afternoon so she called ARS. The tech arrived at 9:00PM and was there 50 minutes. He installed a compressor starting capacitor and jump start kit. He gave her a price for the capacitor of $239.00 and the jump kit for $349.00. She had no idea what these parts can be bought for and just knew they were very expensive. Under duress of being stuck, ill in an 85 degree house, she consented to the job. The bill was $757.45. When she reached me the next day I went crazy. I know what the retail prices of those parts are but looked them up to verify. The capacitor is $36.60 and the jump kit is $66.00.
If the tech had quoted me the prices that he charged and I was there I would have asked him to leave and sent my wife to a hotel. She did not have that option. The bottom line is for $102.60 (retail, ARS probably paid 40% less) in parts and 50 minutes of labor my wife was charged $757.45. This is an exorbitant charge applied to an unwitting, ill, senior person who was under duress. How many people do they do this to that do not even realize it. Shameful. A fair deal would have been the normal hourly rate times 2 (double time) since it was after hours and at MOST 25% over retail on the parts. My regular A.C. company charges an hourly rate (premium for after hours) plus retail on the parts. This would have been a total $300.00 after hour repair with them. They would have still made a good profit.

One said it was an air flow problem. Another said they should have never sold me this 2 zone system based on the house design because it will never work right. One said it was the damper motor, so I paid for new one. Another said a TVX bulb not attached.
In July, General Manager came to my house, reviewed the duct work and history of service issues and admitted it wasn't installed properly in the first place. He scheduled someone to come out and fix a supply line. They said it was fixed and we wouldn't have any problems. 3 weeks later there was water in the pan AGAIN and the unit stopped cooling. Time to pursue via legal channels, BBB, and state consumer protections. Would recommend anyone except ARS - Does not stand behind product or service contracts.

We started our problem by listening to a Home Depot rep (you maybe aren't aware that ARS is a contractor for Home Depot) to get a $38.00 summer check on our A/C. It was the most expensive $38.00 we have ever spent. ARS service came out, told us we needed 4lbs. of coolant (but didn't have the tools with him to see where it was leaking!) and the controller was bad. To the tune of $597.00 we let him fix it. Stupid YES, however, we were already a day late for our paid for vacation and had housesitter at our home for us to leave. The next day the unit was smoking and needed to be cut off at the breaker as to not have a fire.
Then with a different ARS serviceman, the serviceman previously here should NEVER have put that much coolant in a factory confined unit AND he wired the Controller upside-down and backwards! We were forced to buy a new unit. That Lennox unit was not properly installed OR was a defective unit causing it to not drain the condensation out and was filling the units insulation with water and the units casing to rust from the inside out. It was also filling our home with moisture to the point that (from 3 other company servicemen here for advice) would have filled our vents with mold and soon to be in our home.
5 months later of arguing with ARS, Home Depot, and Lennox to be compensated for the original unit being destroyed (the initial serviceman from ARS was FIRED after this incident) we had a Rheem installed by a different company. This started on May 31, 2016 and we just now Sept. 28, 2016, have been paid back for the Lennox installed and we are to get the service call refund of $597.00 in 3 days. We had to sign a Settlement Agreement with both Home Depot and ARS to get this much back and of course now we can't take them to court. I filled a complaint with the BBB of Lake County Florida and to our amazement they wouldn't take on the case, instead they directed us to the Attorney General's Office. Lessons are learned, but this is BAD business for us consumers.

In June of 2014 we decided on a new unit. After purchasing our townhouse and a few A/C problems we thought it was best to invest in a new unit. The unit was installed mid June and things seemed good, we were very happy with the technicians and the services that was provided. As a matter of fact they had a few hiccups and they worked through the evening to make sure we had a working unit. August of that same year the unit began to give some problems, this problem was taken care of under the warranty. My husband and I did have some concerns, after all this was a 2 month old A/C. As per the invoice the condensation drain line was leaking and this was replaced. The technician departed and we were up and running. A year later is where the problems began.
In September of 2015 the unit stopped working, approximately 1 year and three months after the labor warranty is up. This time the technicians said the evaporator coil needs to be replaced and one is ordered. On the 21st of September 2015, I am quoted a $695.00 amount and I am sure this did not included the adding of freon. I am blown away, how is it possible for your service men to do poor work and I have to pay for it. I basically told him to pack up and get out of my house. He proceeds to call his supervisor and they work something out and the labor I'd now covered under warranty. Good, I feel like the problem is resolved.
In his comment he writes the initial diagnosis is incorrect there was "no leak at the evap coil, the leak was found at the heat pump low side tubing at main side pipe". He re-brazen, retested and I am good to go. In March of 2016 ARS has a maintenance promotion and I accept, they say, things running well. On September 7th my husband calls and said the A/C is down again. Called ARS they sent a tech and he said the leak is actually in the evap coil like the first tech stated. I will have to incur a cost of 695 plus the cost of refrigerant. So basically, there were two leaks, the tech came out fixed one and left the other. This unit is roughly two years old and I have to spend more money to fix a problem that should of been fixed initially.
I honestly don't know what to do, my house is 89 degrees and I have two small kids. I know that I have to repair it but I feel like we have been robbed by this company. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Although the service guys are professional and polite, they can't seem to get the job done. I am almost sure if I did give in and called them to fix it, like clockwork next year around this time I will be dishing out another thousand dollars for another problem. I am absolutely dissatisfied with the company.

Had made an appointment with these people for the sole purpose of unclogging my ac condensate drain line. Had seen an ad for drain cleaning for $88 and asked to avail of such. Was not informed at this time that this special was for plumbing drains only and DID NOT specify in ad. Appointment was made. Sat around home majority of day and waited throughout the window given; NO CALL!
Called company and after being passed around informed that special was plumbing only and would need to set up service call (no cost of such given) to diagnose problem. Just wanted compressed air injected in line as had done so well in past. Went ahead and took another appointment. Started asking about age of equipment. Why! This should make no difference!! After considering, cancelled appointment. Felt like with all questions, giving blank check to these people! Received call today and young lady very rude, condescending, who finally hung up on me as I was attempting to inform why I did not use! I sincerely hope that I never have a reason to call these people again!

These thieves just left my house an hour ago. Little did they know I had a remote camera in my bathroom. The so-called, plumber came into my bathroom and never looked at the toilet. He just got on his cell phone with someone and then went down and tried to talk my wife and her medical adviser into spending way more money than we were quoted. They had him call me. And then he tried to get me to spend, about doubIe, with no final price quoted, to fix the problem. I called him out as the bait-and-switch, thief that he was. I told him that I had been in business for over 50 years and to get out of my house, immediately.
He, obviously, didn't realize that my housekeeper had just serviced that toilet, earlier that morning, and when I got home later and checked the toilet, it had not even been flushed, just as my video supports. These guys are a total rip-off and if they like tell you they're going to clean your sewer for $88... they're lying! It's going to be more. Run away as fast as you can.

I called in about a repair Thursday the 23 of June about 7 pm and was told someone will be there between 7 and 10 pm that night. At 9 pm I called back and rescheduled for Friday am the 24 of June. On Friday am 2 trucks and 3 men appeared to give an estimate on the repair. The man gave me an estimate of a whole plumbing system changeout of 3600 dollars... now if I understood this was a free estimate. I then told the man I was on social security and I could not afford that and would like to repair just the hole in the pipe. Now when he and the other man with had made an estimate were in the truck for 30 minutes and came back earlier with 3600 dollars.
The man comes back instantly saying it would be 525 dollars without conferring with anyone else either the other man with him or his office. I said it was okay to fix it with my senior discount. He said he had to go and get the parts and would return to fix the hole. He was under the house for about 30 minutes and came back saying it was fixed. Then went to his truck to write up invoice. After the man returned with the parts that was when the other truck and 2 men left. That was 90 minutes they had been at my house and so the man left behind did the repair and by the time he did the repair and paperwork was another 90 minutes with the repair being 30 minutes and sitting in front of my house an additional 60 minutes.
So I guess it breaks down that I paid 3 hours for 3 men and 2 trucks 525.00 dollars with 25 dollars going to materials 500.00 dollars going to 30 minutes labor and 2.5 hours. Since they got my money this review is futile but word of mouth and contacting the referral service who recommended them and let them know what happened. It's too bad this same company did a good job hooking me up to the sewer 7 years ago.

If you got a letter in the mail offering routine maintenance of your system for $40, Beware. The particular offer I got offered a $50 gift card at local restaurants and a free service call if I had any problems with my system within 30 days of the maintenance call. This is a brilliant scam because when the technician came for the maintenance call he conveniently left the caps off of the unit after he checked the Freon. By the way he informed me that the Freon was OK and I didn't need any. I didn't discover that the caps had been left off until about two weeks later. And a few days after that my unit stopped cooling. So of course I called for my free service call. The technician told me that my coils Were so dirty and rusted that the Freon had escaped through the coils.
He then proceeded to call a salesman to sell me a new unit as replacing the coils Would not be cost-effective because my unit was so old. 11 years. The salesman quoted me a new unit from Home Depot for $7100, and if I buy it Today, two years financing with no interest. When I didn't go for that he said I should call the office tomorrow and bargain with them because he happen to know that there were some installers who weren't busy and sometimes they would give discounts when the installers were not busy. He tried every high-pressure sales tactic he could but I insisted that I would get at least three estimates before making a decision. I called an independent repairman The next morning. He recharged the unit with Freon and checked for leaks. He could find none. That was over a week ago and my unit is still cooling just fine. So I have no doubt but I was the victim of a scam. Leave the caps off, let the freon escape then go back and make a sale.

I was threatened to not discuss anything regarding my opinion of their work. After 7 years of misery dealing with them, 15,000 spent and over 50 service calls the humidity in my house remained above 60% constantly even with the units running at 69 degrees additional dehumidifier while house dehumidifiers they said I needed. My home began growing mold, doors wouldn't open, I couldn't see out my windows from the moisture. Finally I had enough, replaced their system with a different company and amazing enough all the problems went away. ARS didn't even install dampers and the installation was the worst three other companies had ever seen when looking at their work.
I asked for a partial refund from ARS as I had spent 15,000+ 7+ years of humidity damage to my home to the point I had to spend 8,000 for a new unit and 3,000 repairing moisture and mold damage to my home units. Even though they were under an extended warranty protection I bought through them as well as a money back guarantee the company refused. They were threatening to the point I had to ask service managers to leave my home for their profanity and degrading remarks towards me.
I finally obtained an attorney who was able to help me a great deal in getting some of my money back but the stress and harm caused by ARS can't be repaid. I seriously warn anyone to do their homework on this company, as this was the most incompetent, deceitful, and threatening company I have ever dealt with. Extremely aggravated with the way I was given the runaround from this company. I will never utilize them EVER again. I had to file a claim with the Better Business Bureau and Division of Weights and Measures after consulting with my attorney about this matter. I attempted to contact the company for numerous days to correct the amount they charged my account for services rendered. They quoted me $2,200 for the work they did. I was charged $2,300 in my account on March 2, 2016 after they stated that the payment did not process, but it was pending the whole time in my account. After further discussion with my insurance company they stated that the costs associated with this work are: Cost for leak detection: $200-300 average; where Rescue Rooter charged me $325; Cost for jackhammer access to line: $1,200-$1,500 average; where you Rescue Rooter charged me $1,875.
After further discussion with other plumbing companies, I was averaged the same quotes that were provided to me by my insurance company. I would like to give you guys an amazing review and would like to continue business with your company at my property but this is absurd. After I noticed my account was overcharged I contacted Rescue Rooter and was hung up on, placed on hold only to have no one answer. I wanted to dispute my charges considering the cost was greatly inflated to my homeowner's insurance average and the local competitors average.
It was not until I mentioned that I was going to the BBB, that eventually they transferred me to a manager. After a few short minutes of this debacle for over a week with this company and my aggravation, the manager became very unprofessional to the point that I had to get off the phone. I will never utilize this company ever again and suggest everyone else do the same. Even my insurance company stated that nothing good came out of Rescue Rooter. Do not fall into their trap.

I suspected a water leak in the wall behind my shower, which is also the area where our washing machine lines are and the hot water heater. The tech came out to find the leak and come up with a repair estimate. When he arrived, he looked in the area where water was, which was seen from an outside wall. He turned off the water supply to the house and said he can see the meter moving which would confirm a leak. He then said it was "probably" a slab leak, and that they were running a special on their moisture detector... Normally $450.00 per hour but the "special" is $285.00 per hour with an additional $180.00 per hour after that. He guesstimated the repair to be between $2000.00 and $5000.00, but didn't know where the leak was coming from. I thanked him for coming and I told him I have other plumbers coming out to look as well. I like second and third opinions. He was clearly upset when I told him that.
I called Jack Jones Plumbing who is in my neighborhood. Two guys came out at 6pm (already getting dark), showed them where the leak was. They got their moisture meter (free) and found a small area in the wall that had moisture. I also noticed that the thermal pressure relief copper line was hot and it had hot water inside the line. I asked them if that was normal. They said no. As a result of that, they removed the pressure relief valve from the top of the water heater. Found it was bad due to our terrible hard water. They drove to Lowe's, picked up a new valve, installed it and modified the relief line. End result... No more leak, cost was $151.25. They finished up around 8pm. I gave them a tip and couldn't be happier. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from ARS/Rescue Rooter!!!

The 1st time I was told the tech was tied up and I would be next. The 2nd time I was told that the appt had been rescheduled for 2 days later and the local office was closed until 8 the next morning and I would be billed an after hours fee if someone was dispatched that night. The following morning I called to speak with a manager. I was told one would call me.
I then received a call from someone who identified himself as a tech but when I advised I needed a manager he said, "Actually I'm the manager." and promised to go out. He arrived about 5-1/2 hours later. He stated that there was a leaking pipe and he could repair for 1,100.00 and they usually bill 187.00 for leak detection but he would waive that charge (the leak had already been identified by my maintenance man). While waiting for him to show up I contacted another plumber who gave an estimate of 295.00 (which included removing, draining and re-installing water heater). He spent entirely too much time trying to convince me that I should buy a new furnace instead of giving me an estimate. He said he would order the part in case I decided not to get a new unit. He could not give me an idea when the part might be available.
When he left I searched online for the part number and found that the online price ranged from $125 to $300 with the highest MSP of $500. The replacement of this part will probably take about 5 or 10 min. It is right in the front of the unit with one hose clamp and 4 screws and one electrical plug. The reason for this email is that my mom was looking at the invoice/receipt given to me on 6/22/15 and read that it states that roots were taken out. I did see roots from the camera that was shown to me but those were supposedly from the front part of the house not the back where the line was flushed out. The reason for this submission is because my mother ** owner of ** was looking over invoice/receipt and the question is that it mentions roots were found in pipes and forced out which never were shown and I the daughter ** didn't know that was put on invoice/receipt.
The reason my mom was asking was because she was never there at the property because she had fallen on Friday June 19, 2015 and basically broke her left wrist so I was informing her over the phone what was going on and what was said to me and then to her over the phone. You can understand that basically we had so much stress from her injury that now will become surgery this Friday and the problems with the overflow of the toilets and bathtub/shower we basically had no choice and from the $88.00 it became $1125.00 because I was told that the pipes had to be flushed otherwise the problem would come back again.
I asked our neighbor who had taken out a small bush/tree I had by my bedroom window and the machinery he used which actually made the roots become saw, to hear what the guys that went to our house had to say because he has more experience than I would or my mom. Our question is how were these roots taken out when no tools were shown to remove roots nor did I see the roots? We have been told from persons that have had major plumbing problems, example my uncle owns a grocery store and he said that the pipes get clogged up due to lard and toilet paper but he has never paid anything as ridiculous as the amount that was charged to my mother.
What we're looking for is why was the fee so high when there were no roots shown that were supposedly flushed out? We are happy that everything is working now and we have the one year warranty but the question is still there and we would like an answer where were the roots that were supposedly found and taken out. How did they take them out if they had no machinery to cut any type of branches or roots? We have spoken now that things have calmed down with plumbers that have been referred by acquaintances and they have all told us we were cheated out and charged too much money. The employees that went were nice and professional but back again to the price why so high when we did not see any roots or told roots from the backyard were stuck in line.

As per their own contract, ** who came out to do the job, did not replace all the pipes, set the main drain line at an improper pitch before exiting the foundation, and did not clear all the debris under the house, leaving the old cast iron pipes behind. All of this was clearly stipulated in the contract.
And it gets even worse. They left the house soaking in old water, so much so that eight months later, when we looked under the house wondering where a strange damp odor was, we found mushrooms growing under the house, the cinder block walls wet and water stained, and much of the ground still damp!! Again, eight months later! But it gets even worse. When I called their manager, ** to come out, he said he would return with a technician. No show. ** and I reschedule for the following week. No show again!!! And no phone call either!!! I call. ** not working. Great. And I suppose the technician isn't working either. Nope. Of course not. Our local Home Depot referred Rescue Rooter to do tune-up on our 5 Tons Air Conditioner unit for $78 dollars. When the technicians from ARS arrived they inspected the outside and inside unit but did no service to it. The "Tune-Up Service" consisted of physically inspecting the unit. After completing their inspection they created a report recommending cleaning the inside and outside coils, replacing the capacitors inside and outside, replace the pan and other miscellaneous for a total of $3740 dollars.
They explained that because the unit is 10 years old, it has reached the end of life and that if they cleaned the coils it could start leaking coolant. The proper thing to do is to replace both units, and this is when things went south... I asked them for a quote and they asked me if I am ready to do this today and told me they could not tell me a price because "prices change daily". I asked for a written quote sent to my email to examine and I will get back to them. After about 5 minutes they knocked on my door and told me that I could save $2k by ordering today (still no price).
After pushing for the price they said $11k and I told them there is no way I can put that much together in less than a couple of weeks. Next thing they dropped to $10K and soon to $9.8. Upset about this I told them I could not do that much without looking at the quote. The person coaching them on the phone said "I will call you right back". He did so in 1 minute and said they could do it for $8.5K. I asked to see the quote to which he replied, "When you are ready call us back". I paid $78 dollars for them to sell me an AC and did not even get a written quote.

Original estimate was about $2400 for clean out trap to be installed. It took several days to install with days when the workers would not show up. I had to call multiple times to ask the status. They would apologize and send someone usually late in the day only to tell me more pipe needed to be replaced at additional cost. I agreed to have more pipe replaced and some days they again would not show up. I again would call to ask status. They always acted surprised that no one was onsite.
I received a dozen hot cookies two separate times from a company called "Cookie Cab". They would send a note thanking me for my business and patience. The price has now escalated to $24000 and last week (today is August 20th, 2014) they finally completed the digging after multiple calls to let them know no one was working AGAIN. I called on a Friday 3 weeks ago to again complain no one was working. The lady had gone home early and I left a message asking why no one was on site and asked to be called the following Monday. No one called all week until I complained online to their corporate office. The plumbers then came to install the new pipe only to discover they didn't dig the right direction nor far enough. I returned to my home that afternoon to find them installing slurry. Their manager met me in my front yard and said "I hear we have a communication problem."
I gave him multiple examples of poor communication and he didn't comment. I told him if I ran a business this way I would not have any customers. He was mostly interested in getting me to sign papers for payment and then he left. The plumbers worked until they pumped all the slurry. They said they would be back Saturday to bring more dirt. The plumbers did not show up Saturday. On Monday, the 18th, I drove up to find one man putting some dirt on area in the front and back. I told him that they failed to reinstall my sprinkler system that they had dug up. He said he would call his supervisor to let him know. He said for me to call the office as he couldn't get his supervisor.
I called the office and told them about the sprinkler system. They said they would call me back. In 15 minutes they called me and said the plumber would be here in 1.5-2 hours. This is now Wednesday, the 20th, and no one has shown up or called to repair sprinkler system. They also dug up the front yard and placed the dirt on 4x8 boards and said they would haul off the dirt so it wouldn't kill the grass. They let the dirt stay for several days thus killing my grass. I am calling the Corporate office in Memphis tomorrow morning. Again, the job started on July 7th and it is now August 20th and the job is not completed. EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE & COMMUNICATION!!!

Their ad says $88 for a drain cleaning. They charged me 4 times that. This company is why plumbers get a bad rep. Rescue Rooter will screw you over. All the good reviews you read must be reviews Rescue Rooter purchased off the internet. Yes, there are websites where you can pay them to write good reviews about your company. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL BE SORRY YOU DID.

I own a rental condominium. Yesterday morning, my tenant called that he had a sewer backup. I authorized him to go on-line and find a rooter company. Unfortunately, they called ARS Rescue Rooter of Orange, CA. The next phone call was to inform me that the quote is $480. I told the tenant that it was way too high, and asked to talk to the plumber. He noted that he needs to remove the toilet and go through it. I informed him that there is a clean out on the line. He said that he cannot use the 1 1/2 clean out in the wall; I replied, no, there is a proper main sewer line clean out outside the front wall. After he found it (it was right in the open in front of the front wall), I got another call that the charge is now $366. I told him to leave and that I will get another plumber. He instantly dropped the price to $175, and proceeded to snake the line (which is only around15 ft from the curb).
Minutes later, I got another call from the tenant that the line is totally blocked, and he needs to return in 2 days and "hydrojet" the line for $1,300. I refused the quote and shortly thereafter hired another rooting company, a small local plumber, who met me at the rental within half an hour or less. His quote was $185. As expected, he cleared the line within several minutes, and pulled out a very small amount of fine roots. His entire time on-site, including set-up, as expected, was about 10 minutes. ARS Rescue Rooter manipulated the rooting snake machine to stop at a certain length, and pretend that the sewer line was solidly blocked (which it couldn't have been because water did drain slowly). I called them afterwards, and their reply to my allegations was, "well, we didn't charge you and we'll try to do better next time". This company appears to run a scam, and should be investigated by either/or the California Contractors License Board or the Orange County, CA DA's office.

Ok so here is my story: We had a hot water supply line break in our laundry room causing damage in both the laundry room and bathroom. We call Rescue Rooter and "Roger" came out about 9 pm and told us the reason for the break was a faulty pressure regulator supplying too much pressure into the line. He quotes me a price of $2025 to fix the line and $850 to replace the regulator, but because he is so generous, he will give me a $800 discount, bringing the final price to $2075. He tells me that because the broken line is causing so much damage we need to get it done immediately and had me sign a "Waiver of Rescission" so the work can get started immediately.
The next day he had his technician come out to look at it and he says because the line was not installed according to "code", it would cost $2800 just to fix the line and we needed a special regulator that would cost $1800. So in less than 24 hrs the price doubled. After speaking to my homeowners claims adjuster, I decided to get a second opinion, and am SO GLAD I did! The new bid was now only $120!! Can you BELIEVE IT??? So obviously, I sent an email formally rescinding my "Waiver of Rescission" and canceling the job, and followed up with a phone call. Today, the new plumber, New Life Plumbing, came out at 8 am, replaced the broken pipe, and was done in 30 mins, all for only $120. Unbelievable!
To make matters worse, last year, we had a main sewer backup on New Year's Eve. The only company who we could get to answer their phone on a holiday was Rescue Rooter. They came out, ran a snake through the line, and reports the problem is on the city side. Because our property does not have a city clean out, we needed to install a clean out on our property or the city will charge us $25,000 to fix the problem. So we thought we were getting a deal at their $5,500 price tag. New Life Plumbing informed me that it would have been no more than $1800. So moral of the story, check reviews and NEVER, NEVER call Rescue Rooter! Wish I had $5,500 earlier.

Earlier this year or late last year (2012), the sewer line from my house to the street clogged. I called Rescue Rooter (RR) for help. Their employee showed up and removed the main bathroom toilet for access to the clogged line. Upon rooting out some roots in the line, he ran a camera down the line. It showed the line as open but with roots still in the line. Instead of running the rooter back down the line and clearing it, he called a person (whom I will be willing to ID in court if necessary) to come look. I was given their song and dance about my lines needing total replacement. All for a charge of about 12,000 $. Since the roots appeared to be from a city owned tree, I told the closer and the original plumber I would like to call the city to see if the city had any responsibility in this matter.
The closer told me he had a license in 3 states and I could rest assured the city would not pay for any of the repairs. Nevertheless before spending 12K$ I said I was going to contact the city. By the way, if I signed a contract right now they would not charge the 250$ now due for a half done rooter job and they would only charge me 10 or 12% interest. I chose to pay the 250 and call the city. Upon contacting the city, I was told they would send someone out to clear my sewer line for free and had I called them originally, I would have had the line cleared at no cost. Although it took a few days, (the delay was ok because the line was functioning) the city did send out their contract plumber. He roto-rooted my line and installed a clean out in the front yard.
The house had been built without a cleanout. All this was performed by the city at no charge. Had I listened to RR's closer, I would be out 12K$ plus interest. Not only that but when they found I would not buy their line (pun intended), they replaced the wax seal and toilet improperly and it leaked. I repaired it myself. Although I was fortunate enough to not be suckered into any unnecessary and costly repair, I wanted to report their actions so that others might not be taken in by their high pressure tactics. I am willing to testify in court if needful. By the way, the city contract plumbers work was excellent and paid for by the city.

A few days later, I called the office and complained and the guy said I should have called sooner.
I have a friend that owns a plumbing company in Ventura, CA. I told him how I was ripped off by Rescue Rooter and he said the companies that have the word "Rooter" as the 2nd or 3rd word in the name are usually scammers. It’s best to get an estimate on the phone and when they arrive and tell you what the problem is and the cost, you can let them fix the problem or you can call another plumber for a 2nd opinion and estimate.

My homeowner insurance company recommended me to Rescue Rooster Company. He was supposed to clock in to my house around 6:00 and 7:00 pm; he never showed up nor did he call. However, he called around 10:00 pm that night, but I was already too late at night. At least he could have given us a courtesy call. The following morning, he requested to come out and look over our water heater for a price estimate. In total, he devised around $1,300 worth of unnecessary price estimates on the basis of my real estate.
There was a series of phony prices that he made up as follows: (1) He claimed that we needed a drip pan for $275, which was $42.00 dollars; (2) installed hot water dollar line for $280 that only called $6.00; (3) draft induction for $185 dollars which is an instrument I didn't need; (5) 3/4 quarter inch gas for $285, which is unnecessary; and 6) hauled off water heater replacement for $75.
This company does not have a sense of professional ethics and loaded with several hidden fees. American Home Insurance has refused for any further plumbing services to be directed to my residence. In this respect, I am under the suspicion that my homeowner insurance is in alliance. For weeks, I have been hauling hot pots of water redundantly upstairs just to take a bath.

On 7/17/09, American Home Shield dispatched a service contractor to my home to service a hot water heater. I was at school and my daughter (25) met him at the house. After inspecting the unit, she called and put the service man on the phone. He informed me that AHS approved the new tank and installation, but because I lived in St. Louis County, I had to have the tank upgraded. He told me that the total cost of upgrades was $680.00. I then went to Handyman Hardware and Lowe’s and got quotes for the same job complete with undiscounted tank, upgrades and tank removal. Handyman's quote came to $636.12 and the quote from Lowe’s came to $713.09, both less than the amount of upgrade charges.
Here is the list of charges: Die Union bolts for $160.00 (Lowe’s charge: $7.16 times 2); expansion tank for $295.00 (Lowe’s, $48.77; Handyman, $44.99); haul away for $100.00 ( Lowe’s, free; Handyman, $25.00); and permit for $25.00 (Lowe’s $51.00; Handyman, $41.00). Then there is another $160.00 charge with no explanation beside it. Actually, he did not add it up correctly because it amounts to $740.00. When I called Rescue Rooter to question the charges, I was told that those were their charges. Because I could not afford the upgrade charges, I was unable to use my homeowner warranty company with the contractor. I called AHS back and was told that alternatively I could find my own contractor and they would sent me a check for $395.00! But only after I had paid for the repair myself out of pocket and forwarded a paid receipt. If I had $700.00 to replace the tank, then I would not be paying into a warranty or would not have placed the service call. Now, I'm stuck with a leaky tank and an AHS premium that does not fix or replace my tank because of these trumped up charges on this invoice.

Our sewar backed up, and flooded my bathrooms and kitchen. Our home warranty company sent out Rescue Rooter. The plumber tried to clear the line, but was unsuccessful, so he had his boss come out with a camera. They informed me that my sewar line was impacted with roots, and that I needed to do a trenchless replacement. He said he would give me a good price because he felt so bad for me (My airconditioner had blown, and my pool just cracked all within 3 days). He asked me to give him a few minutes so he could figure out the very best price he could give me.
I was crying and obviuosly very distreesed. He came back with a written bid, and he explained to me that he would normally charge $14,000 but because I was "such a nice lady, and having such bad luck", he would do me a favor and only charge me $11,000. But I had to sign right then, and I couldn't use the toilets, showers, sinks, or we would have severe flooding. I told him I could not sign the contract, that I had to go over it with my husband.
Well, I called around the very next day. I was given bids from 5 companies. The prices ranged from $3500 to $5200. We hired a licensed, bonded insured company with 30 years of experince for $4000. This price INCLUDED another camera look, and two cleanouts (which RR did not include)
The company we hired (Williams Brothers) was excellent. They finished in one day, they were clean and professional.
I feel this is a clear case of price gouging. I was under sever duress, very emotional and this company took advantage of that. I am sure that they must have pulled this with other unsuspecting people in similiar situations. There must be something that can be done about this unethical behavior.

The sewage to my home is backed up, I call, and they sent Bill out, the first time for an estimate 3-9-06. Then I called him back out to do the work. He estimated at $646.25 that he would jet for 446.28, and then dig for $200.00 if that doesn't work. Well he came, jetted, mad more of a mess with things, said that he did all that he could do, and did not fix the sewage, stating that he thinks that the problem may be with the city. I paid him 461.25.
The city came out and said that the main city line is on the other side of the street, and that whatever it is that the plumber is running into in the yard is not the city sewer. I have four boys ages 7-16, who love to play basketball, and another one on the way. I can't afford to pay someone $461.25 for nothing, because that is what was done with my problem nothing. Can you please help or suggest someone who can help me.
