Re "Renewal by Andersen" of One of the 4 Andersen windows in a bow arrangement has condensation between the panes and I sought an estimate to replace the glass. Sales person had absolutely NO interest in repair insisting that the ENTIRE unit be replaced at some $10K. In the process he questioned the efficacy in blocking the cold of the existing older Andersen unit and bad mouthed the 14 windows that I had recently installed by a locally owned competitor. When I reacted negatively to the cost he then pulled the usual "to keep the crew busy we can give you a discount if you have it done some 6 to 8 weeks from now". Alleged discount was only 10%. I contacted Genesee Glass and Mirror to do the repair work.

We were very unhappy with installs on our sliding door. First install was done in April 2016. The first installer put the door together wrong and left it. Which I called Andersen right after the installer was finished and made a complaint. They had one of their inspectors come down and said "you will have to wait for a new door to be made." That will take up to 8 weeks. In June they came to install the second sliding door, everything looked good. Till two days later the main sliding door came off its track. This does not usually happen.
The inspector came again. This time they said will order new heavier rollers, which they're coming to install July 28. Hopefully this will be the last time they have to come back. The installer owner came by to see the problem on the first install, told us he would try to get some money back. Which they didn't. It is very sad how they can claim to have their own installers but use outside contractors to do their installs. The first installer was from far Rockaway and they put a magnetic sign over it to say Andersen. I know this is how most companies work, but it's a real shame!!!

My wife arranged an estimate from Andersen Renewal on an afternoon I had taken off work, for a sliding replacement patio door. Later I found out that she told them she would be there too, but she had to work. The salesman was about 30, heavy set and he seemed arrogant from the get go. Instead of going with me to the patio door, he started walking around my living room, telling me that basically my windows were crap. I told him I wasn't interested in windows and I walked him over to the patio door and expected him to do something besides stand there and ask me if his staff had screwed up and not told my wife that both of us needed to be there.
I looked at his quizzically and said, "I'm not buying life insurance, just a door. My wife doesn't need to be here." I asked him to give me an estimate for a mid range door and he refused to give me any kind of estimate. I told him he was wasting my time and he needed to leave. He copped an attitude and wouldn't budge and I told him I would call the police if he didn't leave immediately. I got my phone out and he eventually left my home, making sarcastic comments on his way out. Do people honestly put up with such nonsense? I've been a homeowner for decades and never had anything like this happen. Amazing!

Aggressive sales tactics, wow. My husband is semi-retired and made an appointment for a sales person to come over to give us a quote on new windows for the entire house. A few days before the appointments, they called to confirm, and asked if we both would be there. Hubby said no, just him. So they cancelled as I could not be there. Then they kept calling to re-book. We both have told them that we have booked with another company, stop calling. Today they called again, 9 a.m. on a Sunday, to ask why we didn't pick them. Really? I told them to stop harassing us, or I will go on social media to complain about them. I hung up while he was still talking. So glad I read all the reviews, seems we have made the right decision! They should be rated a big fat zero.

I made the appointment on Thursday, June 30th, for Tuesday, July 5th at 10am. They sent me a friendly reminder in the form of an email. Tuesday morning came around, and no company rep, no phone call. At 10:20 I call to see if the appointment is still on, if the rep is late, etc. The lady informs me that they left a message on my machine (over 4th of July weekend, and I was not home all weekend), and because I did not call back to confirm the appointment, they cancelled. I received no email, no phone call, nothing telling me the appointment had been cancelled. No courtesy was extended on their part. They simply offered to re-schedule, at which point I told them no thanks. Unbelievable.

Please save yourself the headache & the expense of a ridiculously overpriced, inferior product. Our experience with Renewal by Andersen was a disaster. We thought that we would be getting a great installation & a superior product that could withstand the direct sun & heat our home experiences due to a full Southern exposure.
We ordered the darkest window they offer, to prevent fading of furniture from the sun. Someone on their team "decided" we needed the less dark window, without bothering to contact us. So they sent the wrong windows. It took us 3 months to get them to acknowledge & correct their error. They broke one window THREE time before getting it installed correctly. Another window shattered within 2 days of the installation.
Here we are less than 6 months from the installation and the large living room window is sagging at the bottom & the caulk around the window is cracking. We had the installer come back and he said "the Fibrex material can't take the heat of this Southern exposure. We'll have to remove the Fibrex and replace it with an aluminum frame."
During their entire presentation, they kept touting that Fibrex is far superior to the aluminum that other window manufacturers offer. Yet, in less than 6 months, they are offering to "fix" the sagging window by removing the Fibrex frame & replacing it with aluminum. Fortunately, we only ordered a few windows from Andersen, not the entire house. We ordered the rest of the windows from Pella. Night & day improvement with the Pella process! Got exactly the windows we ordered. They were delivered on time & properly installed. Pella was priced better & is a far superior product.
The Andersen people are super, high pressure sales. They basically won't leave your house until you sign a contract. The entire process with Andersen was a high pressure, over priced, low quality product, poor customer service experience. I would not recommend Andersen to anyone. Ever. I have attached a photo to show where the window has warped. The upper window is Andersen. The lower, perfectly straight, non-warped window is Pella. Both have exactly the same sun exposure.

I wanted a quote on 6 windows. Lowe's did this in about 45 minutes. They even gave me options of different grades of windows and explained the differences. With Andersen, after about 30 minutes of the salesperson run around they finally made the decision that their windows were too expensive for our house. They came to that conclusion because we said we might move within 5 years. They were telling me that my Pella Windows 8000 series would without a doubt rot within 10 years (reading reviews here it sounds like that's what their windows did). Also they mentioned that Andersen buries their windows in Florida swamps to test their durability. Typical sales tactics. If you want to get sold on windows, give Andersen a shot. If you want to buy a product whose performance simply sells itself look elsewhere.

I didn't even get passed the appointment 1-800 person before I'd had enough of them to cancel the call. Andersen 1-800 reps are required to go through a lengthy Q&A with new customers that is painful, intrusive, time consuming and unnecessary as all the same information is readily available during the bidding process. The salesman is called a 'design consultant' which is a huge red flag - this company is ready to SELL you.
Also, getting a 'design consultant' (salesman) to bid REQUIRES both homeowners be present and that a homeowner commit to an hour and half meeting - another red flag but I don't know why. I cancelled the call because Andersen Company's attitude - as if I was fortunate to be able to do business with them as opposed to the other way around. Good riddance - your arrogance is overwhelming. I prefer a service company that wants and appreciates my business.

We ordered 3 new renewal by Andersen Windows right after the home show here so we could get 15% off because we were told Andersen never does sales. Right after we ordered our windows they came out with the sale of 20% off everything, windows, patio doors and installation so we felt cheated that way. Then we couldn't get the 1 year free interest because their lender wouldn't approve our loan as we only had a credit rating of 817 according to a letter received from the lender. Then we were told they were 95% efficient and according to our utility even though they are energy star rated the SHGC rating is not high enough.
Do not buy these windows. The sales people do not tell the truth and we are out several thousand dollars because we believed Andersen to be a good brand. Never again. The only thing they told correctly was that the installation crew was good and would clean up their mess. We don't have an order number to put on this as never received one and also never were given the cost breakdown of what each window cost. And also how much installation was. We have figured out the cost of installation pretty much by subtracting what they say is the price we might be able to use for Federal Energy Rebate. However with no rebate allowed locally because they don't meet the standards. I doubt if they meet Federal standards. Just one more lie.

All Renewal by Andersen windows are custom built windows that are designed to fit the opening and not the opening changed to fit the window. None are made of wood, all have stainless steel hardware so the is no rusting. They ONLY do their own installations and do not subcontract to anybody. Most complaints I read are installation problems which were done by contractors who change their names to avoid liability. They made crap in the past like wood, vinyl, and aluminum. What kind of spineless subhuman buys the window then complains that the salesman hypnotized them to buy anything? Ever heard of "No, Thank you"? How pathetic. And where were you when your family member needed you during a big financial decision. You had 4 weeks to cancel without costing you a dime.

Renewal by Andersen has very aggressive marketing and sales team. I don't fault them for that, but the folks who we came in contact with were not very up to date on important information, nor did they take responsibility for our work once they had our deposit. We told the sales folks who originally called that we live in a historic building and they told us this was no problem. We also reminded the salesman of the historic building and he, too, did not envision a problem. Having been told by other contractors that the side and back windows (not clearly visible to the street) did not require Landmark approval, we hoped for the best. We made 2 separate appointments for remeasuring and a very savvy man stopped by. He seemed to know more about pulling permits and the approval process, but didn't warn of any problems.
A week later, I got a call from the salesman who told me that the Landmark Association had not approved of our windows. He didn't say why and didn't send any paper backup. I asked him when we would be getting our (full) deposit back, over $1600 and he said he was not responsible and couldn't make that decision. My husband called him a few days later and he sang the same tune. Even after we both requested contact information for someone in charge, no one ever followed up. Luckily I had not yet paid the credit card bill that included this charge so I called to stop payment. I assume that they will never follow up and would be happy to keep our money. With this sort of fraudulent, irresponsible behavior, I am surprised that they have a top consumer satisfaction rating. Buyer BEWARE!

I decide that it was a shady company at best, called and cancelled my order, sent certified letter requesting same. Three months later (3) I still don't have my money back and no door was ordered or installed. Corporate sent me to "customer service" on hold 20 mins, then they hung up on me.

Renewal By Andersen Windows - This company likes to scam its customers into buying overpriced windows. They had a minivan full of kids walking around, at night, knocking on doors convincing people they need to replace their windows. I was concerned with one window but the young man convinced me to let them look at all of my windows. Then I had to talk to a customer service rep on the phone and a supervisor just to get the appointment. Just setting up the appointment alone was annoying. They won't give me a price or ball park figure over the phone because the cost of these windows is ridiculous. The cost to replace 6 windows in my home was close to $30k. I guess this is why they refused to come out unless me and my wife agreed to sit thru a 90-minute high pressure sales pitch. It was a complete waste of our time, my wife is very busy and they insisted.
After that they harassed us for two months straight trying to reschedule another appointment. We finally broke down and let them come back out. This time they offered us the exact same windows for 50% cheaper. Why didn't they just offer that to me the first time? Even 15k was way too much! Some friends of ours also had them come by and they experienced the same thing. Its obvious they're more interested in overcharging their customers than helping them. The sales rep told me that the price he was giving me was the lowest price possible. Then two days later someone's calling me to offer the same windows for 50% off.
Everyone should just act like they're not interested and then wait for them to offer it to you for half the price. Considering how much they harassed us, they will call you. I refuse to do business with companies that play games like this. I had to go through way too much just to get a quote for some windows.

The high pressure was amazing and decided to NOT buy, had a difficult time getting the salesman out. He was like a cheap trick. Couple of weeks later, again, Renewal by Andersen around again, different guy. Told him to get out, don't come back, he apologized, said they would never be back. Couple weeks later, different guy. This time I wasn't so nice.
Back again today and I actually yelled at the poor dumb kid. Sorry, no - I'm not. They are a BAD organization. They have these fake 'badges' that they say gives them permission to solicit door to door. Yes, folks, door to door for expensive products like windows and doors, and they use very high pressure. I was looking forward to meeting with Andersen Windows. I called the gentleman who was to meet with me at 2 PM that I was running a little late. "Could you please wait for me?" Let me know that he did not have the tape measure so he would have to buy one at a hardware store and I said that was fine I would wait for him. I was excited and looking forward to having new windows because I had heard very many promising things at Andersen Windows. Gentlemen I believe he said his name was **. He told me that the windows were going to cost me quite a bit, and was unsure if I could afford them. He proceeded to measure the windows then gave me a quote of $30,000 for my windows I have a total of 12. He told me that he could give me a discount of 5000. I told him that was a little too much for me.
He asked me not to waste his time, and what would it take for me to purchase the windows today. I told him "I'm not going to paint over $18,000." He said "If you could do that now then I signed the papers been there". I told them "I would have to look at my finances". He pressured me to try and sign the papers right then and there - I told him "No I could not do that". He said I was wasting his time. He stormed out. By the way the reason he was giving me a $5000 discount was because I had called Andersen Windows previous. The 800 # told me that they do not service my area, he then I was being discriminated against. I commented that happened over the phone and the gentleman could not see what color I was.
This gentleman was a black man that drove a BMW small black sports car said he has twins of five years. He is very very abrupt and I will not deal with someone who does that character. I should have come to this site first, before agreeing to meet with the Andersen salesman. BIG MISTAKE! At first, ** was polite and conversational. He then asked me a series of questions that he was reading off a form, then asked to measure all our windows. I told him, "When I called in I told the person answering the phone we would only be wanting a quote for three living room windows." He asked why we wouldn't be replacing all our windows and we told him, "Because of the expense." After measuring, he again asked why we wouldn't consider replacing all our windows. He then said, "Not replacing all the windows is like when a car tire has 8 holes in it and you only fix 4 of them." Huh??
Anyway, he then pulled a HUGE 3-ring notebook out of his briefcase that must have had 150 pages in it. He proceeded to turn to page one, beginning with a history of the Andersen company. After about 15 minutes, both my wife's and my eyes were glazing over and we asked if he could just give us a quote. He then became incensed and said he wasn't doing his job correctly if he couldn't "educate" us on why his product was so superior. He asked if we wanted him to call his manager so he could skip the rest of the presentation. We said, "Yes." He went outside and returned about 5 minutes later. He then hastily wrote out a quote sheet for the 3 windows that totaled more than $6000 -- more than DOUBLE our other quotes. After being "required" to have both my husband and myself present for a window replacement bid we were given a sales spiel that took 2 1/2 hours. Measurements were taken and the rep came up with 22 windows, after we were told by the scheduler our bay window was considered one unit. After beating up every single window company out there, telling us if we went with vinyl windows to buy the cheapest we could because they are ALL MADE THE SAME. He told us Pella had a class action suit against them and proceeded to show us all the fine printing for these window companies and all the caveats written in. Then told us their windows were 100% guaranteed for a lifetime even if we had a rock chip fly up, from the lawn, over they would cover it for free.
Basically when you buy their windows everything is free from then out. He pulled the heat lamp trick, showed us where vinyl windows can be taken out by a burglar simply by removing the narrow trim and that they always warp in hot sun. On and on ad nausea. THEN we get the price, $64,000.00 We were blown away as we wanted nothing special just plain glass. All of a sudden the promos began coming out. Wow all of a sudden we're almost 1/2 of the original quote... and OH, if we signed today we could get another $3000.00 reduced. I told him we never sign a contract immediately and he looked like a hound dog and said, "most people who don't sign the day of typically never do it." I said oh well, then he began the insulting financial "problem" pressure and I said "I really don't care about the $3,000.00" and he looked at me sarcastically and said "really?" I said really.
We might be here another 10 years and there is no way on this earth I would pay that kind of money for windows. After reading all the consumer reviews I am convince now more than ever we made a very good choice NOT to purchase these windows. If you decide to go head to head with any sales people, stay on track because they like to engage on a more personal level like they're your friend. I mean REALLY? Had a "salesman" from AW come to house and was aggressive, pushy and a real jerk. Did his "hot light" test of existing windows and of course said how poor they were. I asked him to come out after AW installed to do same test and he never returned. He repeatedly made calculation errors each time I questioned his price, especially after he left our house. Each estimate didn't add up and he kept correcting his mistakes. Don't let these people intimidate you as they are trained NOT to leave your house without a sale from you. Our rep was a total jerk!

A couple of years ago we asked for a quote and from then on we're bombarded with sales calls on a regular basis even though we told them we weren't interest. After blocking their calls I thought that would be the end of it. Today a salesperson knocked on my door telling me that my windows looked like they needed replacing. Really?? I only had them changed through another firm 6 months ago! He apologised and left!!

I was unloading groceries from my car and was approached by what was basically a door to door salesman for Andersen, which is annoying in itself. Normally I would not have even answered the door, but they caught me in the driveway and started the pitch. Honestly, we had on the work plan for the year to replace the windows so I figured, fine sure let's set up a quote and just see. Then the woman tells me that they like to do it the next day or as soon as possible and really pushes me to make the appointment, which I do.
The next day I get contacted by their "scheduling" department and they tell me that they will not come and quote anything without my husband there because "they have so many choices on glass, color and grilles they don't want to have to answer questions later, they like decisions made that day". This annoys me since, I told the sales person that it would be just me and quite honestly I know what we need and I am fully capable of making decisions...thanks. Since they literally just swarmed me and pressured me to do this only to be told "not without your husband", this majorly turns me off. I just wanted an initial quote and the guy basically told me we both had to be there for the hard sell. After reading all the reviews online I think I dodged a bullet, they sound shady and the windows sound shoddy! I would say stay away.

Called to get an estimate on replacement windows. The two sales people I spoke with kept asking if my husband would be home at the time of the estimate. I told them no. They asked if I was the primary owner of the house. I said yes. I also told them my husband just passed away. The entire conversation made me very uncomfortable. I read the reviews which confirmed my feelings about these inappropriate tactics. I called and cancelled the appointment. The gentleman asked why. I explained the above circumstances. He did apologize but advised me this is a script they are given to read. Never will I use Andersen windows.

Today I called Anderson Windows main number to set up an appointment to come to our home to price out 16 windows that need to be replaced. The rep said they wanted a 90 minute appointment and I said I only had 60 minutes and that Pella and Millgaurd companies were both able to give me a quote in 60 minutes. The rep just wanted to argue with me when I politely and simply said, "No, I have 1 hour available." THEN, get this... the rep said I had to have "your husband, the primary decision maker home at the time of the consultation!!!!" Holy crap! REALLY!
First of all how do they even know I am married or have a man in the picture and how insulting and chauvinistic is that? Second, I run a $60 million business and I make decisions all day!! I will take my $30,000 business elsewhere thank you!

I scheduled a sales rep to come to my house online. I received a call back to setup a time. First, they would not make the appointment unless my wife was home with me. I told them it didn't matter because we are just looking for information and I would relay any info to her. They did not accept that so I had to inconvenience my wife to make the appointment. After a two hour presentation, much of it asking about how my wife and I met, I was told the pricing of $11,940 for 6 windows. It's a good window but come on! The rep told me if I said yes on the spot it would cost $8,955. I said I would not decide anything that night.
Then the "pressure" tactics started by telling me that I would be wasting money by waiting, spend the same elsewhere, would be silly to wait, trying to rub financing in my face (which I said from the begging I don't want to do), etc, etc. I told the rep she was pressuring me and I would not have it. The meeting got awkward, I said I would think about it, the rep said I won't call back, and then it was over.

I ordered 28 windows from Renewal by Andersen at the end of July, and was told the order would take about 8 weeks. A gentleman came out the following week to measure my windows. A few changes were made - the finish was changed. The salesman called to verify the changes and said there would be a credit. I asked for an itemized bill, I wanted to know how much a window cost. He stated he would get back to me, but never did. I would call him but he did not return my calls. I tried calling the office but only got voicemail. Time went by, not hearing from anyone.
Then in Dec, I came home to a voicemail saying my windows would be installed on Jan 4. Again, I was told they would be installed before winter. So now here were one of the coldest weeks of the year!!! I finally spoke with a person in the office and again asked for an itemized bill. She said she would look into it and never has. The installers were great, they cleaned the rooms when done and helped pit the furniture back.
I gave the checks on the first day and last day. I unintentionally make a mistake when I made out the check, left out a zero. I chose to write a check because I was uncomfortable putting all my info on a piece of paper that could easily be misplaced. The office called to correct my mistake. I decided to use this to my advantage and said, "When I got the itemized bill, I would pay the bill." I am still waiting despite several calls to the office.

In 2010 my Condo HOA put together a package deal with renewal for doors and windows in order to get a good price for each homeowner. Windows: we got nothing close to what we ordered, but something much cheaper. After lots of back and forth, renewal would do NOTHING to correct their screw up. Doors: a nightmare - Opening and Closing takes the strength of a linebacker - now falling apart. Renewal surrounded themselves with layers of contractors and "oh, that man is no longer with us" so as to never take responsibility or do the right thing in order to save their name. They obviously depend on their pricey advertising to dupe the public.

We had 44 casement windows, one door and an atrium door replaced by Renewal by Andersen. The nightmare began on July 2nd when they began the installation. They ruined our hardwood floors in our living room, dining room and bedroom with something that actually stripped the finish off of them. A floor team came out and repaired the floors and they do not how look like they were prior to the installation. We have several sunburst windows in our kitchen, family room and master bathroom and it took them three times to redo the woodwork on the arch to fit the windows. We paid for the service of taking down our shutters and reinstalling after the window installation.
The sunburst shutters could not be reinstalled because the Andersen windows are not like our prior Marvin windows. The custom sunburst shutters went into the trash. The Atrium door was imperfect and that had to be replaced. There were 9 screens to the windows that did not fit properly and they had to be replaced. Finally, on October 2, 2014 the job was completed. The painter that painted all of the trim was excellent and I would highly recommend him. I would never recommend Renewal by Andersen to anyone. I also gave poor review to the parent company of Renewal by Andersen and requested to be contacted and nobody ever contacted us.

Called to set up an appointment to get an estimate for replacement windows. They said they will have a salesperson contact me, if I'd provide some info. Most companies in similar situation usually ask for a name and phone number. Then the physical address would be given when the sales person calls up to make an appointment.
But, Andersen Windows wanted all sorts of what I deem irrelevant info. As another reviewer mentioned, they mentioned that they would want both husband & wife to be present when the salesperson shows up. When I asked the supervisor why they needed all those questions just so we could get a call from one of their salespersons, she came up with some nonsense excuses. My impression, whether correct or not, was that they run some sort of check on potential customers. If that's what they actually do, why? In this day and age, I'd be stupid to give out all that private info to someone who claims to be an employee of Andersen Windows. While I believe that I was talking with a legit employee, I don't know who they are. It's just a voice at the end of a line and I had called a number off of a mailer. Anyone can send out flyers...
Also, why do they need to store all that personal info in their system when we are not even a customer yet? What if someone out there hacks their system and steal our personal info? Crazy that they want all that info just to get a call from their salesperson. No thank you! We will do business with a company that run their business a bit more logically and customer-oriented.

I had a salesman from Andersen Windows come out. He pulled up in a New Lexus. After an 1 1/2 hours of him trying to sell us windows his first price was over 28,000 dollars for 11 windows. He got the price down to $22,000 which is $2,000 a window. They seemed like good window but are WAY OVERPRICED! I helped him carry his stuff out to his new Lexus just to get rid of him as quick as possible!

Andersen refused to schedule a home consultation with me unless my husband was present for the visit. I am the sole owner of this property and also on the home owners association board. I am disgusted with these practices. Ironically this all happened at the CT WOMENS expo. I had many other window companies who were willing to come to my property within male escort. I will not be silent about this issue.

We just finished a c-o-l-d winter and our Renewal by Anderson Windows helped greatly! I can tell you they were not cheap but are worth every penny. They were installed the right way too. We got double hungs and crank outs. I have purchased cheaper house items in the past but they end up not doing the job.
