Platinum Home Warranty services the Phoenix metropolitan area and its surrounding cities. This company offers repairs and replacements for everyday wear and tear with in-house technicians. Platinum Home Warranty also provides 24/7 emergency response and personal follow-ups to ensure your systems and appliances are running properly.

    Pros & Cons

    Pros

    • Offers coverage for mobile homes and condos
    • Some plans cover labor on appliances and systems still under the manufacturer’s warranty
    Cons
    • Doesn’t include many kitchen appliances
    • Coverage caps on some systems and appliances
    • The kitchen fridge is not included in any lower-tier plans

Platinum Home Warranty coverage and plans

Platinum Home Warranty offers four home warranty plans: Standard, Standard Plus, Prime and Superior. This company also offers Platinum Plus, which provides extra coverage for things such as permit costs, slab leaks, disposal and recovery fees.

Platinum’s home warranties have a 30-day warranty on work performed. This means the company will not charge you a service call fee to fix the same appliance or system within 30 days.

    Plan details

Platinum’s home warranties cover a wide variety of systems and appliances. This company also offers extra coverage items with the three highest plans, such as haul-away, jetted tubs, enhanced garage door recovery and dishwasher racks, rollers and baskets if you go for the Platinum Plus upgrade. The biggest drawback is that the lower-tier plans don’t cover refrigerators.

Platinum Home Warranty offers a variety of add-ons that can provide extra coverage for appliances and systems. You can purchase them at a yearly or monthly price, but you must contact the Platinum Home Warranty service team for monthly pricing options.

What does Platinum Home Warranty not cover?

Even though Platinum’s home warranties cover a variety of appliances and systems, the company has many limitations and exclusions. It only covers mechanical failure and damage due to normal wear and tear and excludes things like cosmetic damage.

Here is a list of items that Platinum’s home warranties also don't cover:

    • “Acts of god”
    • Voided contract
    • Damage resulting from tampering

    • Unknown defects
    • Recalled items
    • Power surges or blackouts
    • Utility damage
    • Incidental damage
    • Inaccessible appliances or systems
    • Lack of maintenance or misuse
    • Inefficient systems
    • Electronics
    • Cosmetic surfaces

    Platinum Home Warranty coverage caps

Before signing a contract, it is important to remember that Platinum’s home warranties have coverage caps. This means that the company will only pay up to a certain amount for parts and repairs, and then you are responsible for paying the rest.

Here is a list of coverage caps that you’ll find in the contract:

    • Toilet replacement: Capped at $300
    • Plumbing systems: Capped at $1,000

      Reviewed Aug. 7, 2024

Just say'n: "bait & switch"... somehow my original home warranty with Platinum Home Warranty became absorbed, or whatever, by (not so) Super/Hello Super.

I have a plumbing issue that went on for over a month now. The plumbing company they called out, wants to replace a part with an inferior, a much less expensive piece. Which will not work for me, let alone the crazy "modification" changes and charges required to put in a lesser quality part. Their website is horrible and the phone system is even worse. Takes way too many calls and eMails to get anyone to respond and when they do, they don't have the authority to make a decision... but they sure steer you to and make it real easy to click on the "pay" button, so they can start the "take your money process".

When I tried to get thru to Platinum, all they said is the repair go thru hello (not so) super. No help from the original company at all. I was steered to Platinum by a realtor, because they are "local", indicating "better service"... HA! Now wondering if she gets a kickback from these folks??? But now, somehow, I am now in the clutches of an expert "bait & switch" group. Resolution, if you could call it that, was that they opted to give me a "cash-out" (in other words, we don't want to help you. We took your money and then provided nothing but headache and heartache). This "option" was followed up by an eMail stating that they would not cover my water softener until I submit a receipt from a plumber that the unit is replaced... HA HA, they didn't cover my original one at all. It might just be best to simply stay away from these type of warranty/operations and go with your own choices of home repair folks and pick what product you want installed.

Thanks for listening to my rant,
