Peco changed billing systems in 2024 and they sent numerous bills where there was not support for the charges or the support did not properly add up to the charges they were proposing. We have tried numerous times to obtain help and support and their customer service is horrendous.

Much like most of the reviewers here, it’s a shame that most people are stuck with no choice but to be forced to have PECO / Exelon provide power to people in the Philly/SE Pa area. While rates are sky high transmission/distribution (both systems/equipment requires updating but very few updates are being done) 4th highest - might even be 3rd highest now in the nation!?! Also on bills they sneak additional charges, like a vermin company that they are. I have over $2k of added charges that they refuse to give back.
I called the Utility Energy Commission- which also are incompetent and they said they can’t do nothing? What!?!? You were formed to protect the consumer from being gouged & ripped off, but they too are exactly like the greedy and dishonest company like PECO. You want good customer and expedient service? No, it doesn’t exist with this company. Vial and incompetent employees ie street people they employ. Thank God I’m moving out of state soon, and leave this completely wretched company behind!! I couldn’t give them zero stars but I think one star rating is way too high imho.

Extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone, app never works, can't get a paper bill to check if I'm even being charged correctly. Login online hasn't worked in some time now. Reps state they are aware the portals and apps suck but oh well. Feel the bill is outrageous but no way go fact-check anything since I can't get a proper bill to view. Absolute garbage of a company.

PECO is the worst company on the planet. I was on the phone with them for over three hours because they shut off my power. I have never had such worse customer support in my entire life. They were incompetent and sound like robots with all the repeating they do. No one knows how to effectively communicate at this company. After they finally resolved my power issue, I called again because I could not sign into my account. They said it should work in a couple days because their servers are down. It's been over a week and I still cannot sign in and pay my bill. When I called again they were useless and could not resolve and had no idea how to open up my account. Not a single feature works on that stupid app.

I don’t know when the PECO added auto monthly payment to me. I’ve been regular mail for many years. And then I paid by mail and added my cancellation payment for 3 months, call the Peco and waited for a long time and finally found help me to wave only 20 dollars and when I received statement they still not take away 20 dollars on top that added another 20 dollars! It’s so disappointed! What a terrible company and customer service!

l call PECO of Philadelphia to turn my electricity on in one of my rental property on April 2, and they give me appointment window from 7am to 12pm. It took me 45 mins to drive to the rental property. I was there 7am and I call them around 11:24 to know when they will show up. To my surprise I was told that they over book the appointment and they no one will come over, so I rescheduled to Monday and the same thing happens again. Call again for Tuesday. No one show up and I call again and make appointment for Friday which is today, no one show up. They told me is all day appointment that someone will come in from 7am-12am, I think they are idiots for them to think that I will allow someone to come to dark house. They are monopoly that's why they didn't care about their customers.

I absolutely HATE PECO. They are willing to shut you off for owing a dollar. On top of this I paid $200 online to avoid a shut off only to find out that the payment had to be P2P. I paid the P2P payment and was told that the other $200 would be credited back to my account 5-10 business days. Never saw that money ever again. These people are thieves and liars and as God is my witness I will never EVER do business with them again.

PECO are liars. If they tell you you’ll get a rebate for installing a heat pump don’t believe a word they say. We got ours installed then came time for the $600 rebate and they fought us the whole time. We did everything they asked and for months wouldn’t give the rebate. Then when they knew they were wrong they gave us $50 out of $600. All they do is overcharge and take your money. So if you can go with another company definitely do so cause these creeps are scumbags.

Double billed my account, which I'm assuming was caused by them updating their billing system. Called; I was told I'd be sent a refund check in 5-10 business days. It's been well over 30 days, no check, and when I call, I get a different answer every time about whether the check was mailed or not, was told no check # exists so they can't even see where it is at, etc. To boot, now my account says I owe over $800 -- so looks like when they issued the check, they double-billed me AGAIN. Customer service could care less about assisting, and we completely disinterested in helping me. Disgusting that this company holds a monopoly in our state knowing they can pull dirty tricks like this.

I have been a Peco customer for over 20 years. Recently found my dream new residence. Over the past 2 weeks have been unable to start/stop my service due to the company making account changes. How is it possible this can happen. Option #`1: they have the worst IT department, they should have known this was going to happen it how it would effect the entire state of PA. If that be the case the entire IT department should be fired. Option #2: The upper management has completely mishandled the problem and doesn't seem to understand how much this is affecting their loyal customers. I only hit 1 star for my experience because there was not an option to hit zero stars. Is anyone else experiencing the insanity that I am.

Peco took a double payment out of my checking account and stated they could not return it and that I could request a paper check but that would take time. They seemed to not care at all. They suggested I just let it go and it would come off my next bill. And they could not guarantee another double would not happen so I had to stop online bill paying.

Yesterday had a full day without power for “planned maintenance” (they never told us about it). Power came back on with low voltage. Heat, water heater, oven, stove, microwave all won’t work because there’s not enough power. Called them last night and got the “We’ll send someone over as soon as we can.” Nobody showed up.
Today they showed up at around 10:00am because the main office and a bunch of other people called (I live in an apartment complex; the whole building is like this right now) and they did precisely nothing. They got out of their trucks, looked at the where the underground power box would be if they had enough motivation to do their job and dig it up and said “it’s definitely this box.” 30 minutes later, after doing nothing about it, they left. It’s been an hour since then and they haven’t been back, nor have I heard anything from them. In other words: PECO sucks. A power company that can’t figure out how to supply power correctly is the same as a car that can’t drive: completely useless. You would have a better time banging your head against a brick wall than dealing with this company.

Every time I have an issue with my bill and I call and I talk to a representative they either tell me that there is nothing they can do or if they are nice enough to help me and I think that my situation was resolved. Then the next time I call it's a completely different story and they tell me I was given wrong information but they don't do anything to rectify the situation or honor the information I was told originally even if it was wrong. The representatives read off of like a script. When they don't have an answer for you all they can say is "I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do" and then proceed to read your bill balance back to you.
They are constantly trying to find new ways to charge you deposits and my due date has changed four times in the past year and then they want to be on you about making on time payments. Not to mention their online billing information is never up to date you will get one amount there and a different amount when you call the automated thing about what you owe. When you talk to people it's not like an office that you're calling their call centers that are all over so even if you get the person's name and tell the next person that you talk to so and so they have no clue who that person is. Absolutely no consistency with the company at all.

I am on the deferred payment plan. Obviously I have financial hardships hence the reason why I got behind in my bills in the first place. They put you on this deferred payment plan when you're threatened to have your electric turned off for not being able to pay the entire balance, they tell you in this agreement that if you're late you're subject to a security deposit of the amount of a monthly bill. You agreed to this because at the time you have no other option it's either that pay the entire balance or have your services shut off. However it's unrealistic to pay your bill exactly on time every month, especially when my due date has changed several times in the past year. There is no grace. There have been times when I have been almost a weekly and didn't get charged any security deposit, and there's been the time I've been late just over the weekend and they're charging a deposit.
The deposit is equal to an entire month electric so then when you get your next bill it's double. And when you're already struggling it's like taking three steps back instead in the back. I do not understand how security deposits can be charged if your service is not been shut off the point of a security deposit is to hold a month but they do not give you your security deposit back unless you pay 12 months without being late they don't tell you if there's a grace period for what they consider being late. And then they will consistently charge deposit fees while still keeping your old deposit fee.
I do not understand how this is even legal. On top of this they are still charging late fees on your bill so they are collecting late fees and deposits. I think it's more reasonable to just charge a higher late fee and no deposit people are never getting out of the hole so long as this keeps happening to them every time they finally get their pass through balance now it's like they do not want you to get ahead.

We recently smelled gas in our basement. Got through immediately and the responder told us clearly how to avoid immediate danger while we waited for assistance. Said help would arrive within the hour. Not 20 minutes later, Damian arrived! He was thorough and correctly assessed that the problem was coming from my neighbor's property, with whom we share a wall (twin houses). We alerted my neighbor, who had inadvertently turned a stove knob and didn't know it because she was ill upstairs with Covid. Damien's astute and accurate diagnosis may truly have saved her life (and potentially ours). We cannot say enough about this wonderful technician and PECO's entire response to this matter.

They will not get a penny from his estate because there is none. There was no probate and no will. The CS reps continue to tell me that the account will be closed. But there are bills still being mailed with past due balances. Not sure it’s so hard to close an account?? And why they continue to lie to me about it being closed. The first call the person hung up, the second call I had to hang up. No one there has any ability to comprehend or prove to me anyone there is competent. Literally choose anyone else if you can for a service provider. After 6 years of using them I'm going to do my very best to get them out of my life. The worst, literally worst. We (and all of our neighbors) were notified that our power would be out for 6 hours from 8 am to 2 pm today on September 14th for maintenance and upgrades. The power never went out and the scheduled work was never performed. Many people spent a lot of time preparing for this scheduled outage. I am a teacher teaching from home every day. Electric and internet are essential in this environment. I spent several hours breaking down my home office and moving it to an alternate location for the day.
After teaching all day, I had to pack it all up again and move it back home. Several others were in similar situations. It was apparently all for nothing and we interrupted our lives, and then the work was never performed as the power never went out at all. After all the phone calls warning that the power would be out all day, not even a single courtesy call the day before saying the work could not be done as scheduled would have saved a lot of people a lot of grief. That is not an acceptable way to do business.

Try living for four days without power for refrigeration, cooking, washing & drying clothes, internet, cell, vacuuming, lighting (living in darkness after 8 p.m.), air conditioning in 90 degree weather, alarm clock, etc. PECO should have to pay for our lost food, eating out, taking clothes to laundry and even loss of enjoyment of everyday activities. Now after the storm, in the first township North of Philly there are 1200 without power due to exemplary negligent tree management in which they claim they have no role. My wife and I have been not had power since Friday March 2nd. Just received notification that my power will be back Monday night March 5th at 11:59PM. That's 4 days without a place to go. This was the straw that broke my back. Not only have I had to pay ridiculous electric bills of $500 and $800 for January & February, I have to empty out my refrigerator of newly purchased groceries over $125 as soon as my home is warm enough to be inhabitable again. My electricity runs underground, how can this keep happening anytime the wind blows over 20mph. Can’t PECO “An Exelon Company” learn how to be preventative instead of reactive in this day in age- especially with all the historical data they have collected on hubs, transformers or switches.
This is a monumental joke to pay these prices and receive this service. I don't even see one truck out on my road Paxon Hallow - according to Pecos map where the issue lies yet power has resumed to residents living just across the street. I don't want to hear, "We're sorry for the inconvenience, safety is our top priority" or "We are working safely to assess the damage and restore service to our customers as quickly as possible," because there are no maintenance or utility trucks assessing anything and it's day 3 of the outage.
What other option do consumers have? 3rd party electricity companies that save you money, but have no maintenance or utility trucks. I don't understand why this seems to be a quarterly issue, with the same outcome every time. Can Peco stop being an apologetic Exelon company, and start being a company with energy solutions? Because as I shiver typing this complaint wearing 2 winter coats, and look out my window to see power across the street is a slap in the face with no solution in sight.

There used to be more power outages about 5 years ago but lately, it seems like the power rarely goes out, which is very much appreciated. I also think the monthly bill is fair. It's pretty low in the winter and very high in the summer during air conditioning season.

We're moving. After 30+ years of PECO service, we filled out the online form asking them to stop service on January 8, 2018. We quickly got a response thanking us and notifying us that they were turning off the electricity on DECEMBER 8, 2017, giving us just 12 hours notice. Of course, there is no way to get in touch with them on the weekend - their offices are closed. The fact that the offices are closed did not stop a PECO representative from stuffing a notice in our door on Sunday saying that they were terminating our service because we "did not meet the requirements and/or complete the application for utility service."
We called first thing Monday morning and although the customer reps were pleasant, we now have to set up a completely new account - they DID say they'd waive the $6 application fee and would not require a deposit for starting the "new" service - how thoughtful. We also have to reapply to our electricity supplier who will now charge us a $70 early termination fee. We asked if they could just fix their error without going through all the hassles for the 29 days we have left here but no one would listen and we have to deal with all this because of their mistake. Not a word of apology or admission of error. Just another monster corporation that plows along, taking all in its path.

I filled out a assistance app with them and never saw a bill since so I figured it was worked out. But I guess not so now. We lost our pets and it's all Peco fault. PECO does not care about customer at all. Okay it was our fault that we missed the payment and the gas was cut off. The notice left at our door was for $295.00. We called immediately and paid a total of $375.00. Told our gas would be turned back on. The next day I had to call again. All of a sudden there an additional 127.00 due (Peco was having problems with their computer the night before). Paid another 127.00 dollars. Four hours later all I wanted was a call from the technician before coming so that we could be there. Peco expected us to wait at the for 24-72 hours which would mean (3) day out of work.
I was told that the technicians did not carry cell phones and could not call before showing up. What happens when the technician has an emergency when working on the gas lines? I was told that did not know what the technician was to do in cases of emergency but they could absolutely not call before coming to turn back on our gas. Who knew that a gas company would offer a service to call ahead when giving a 3 day window for service. They would rather have a family have no gas at all. What a major disappoint. Would change gas companies if I could.

I've been on CAP about a year, in the beginning it was great. The discounted rate made paying my PECO bill affordable. In the last few months there has been changes made to the CAP program, now there's a monthly credit that's given annually but divided into 12 months, it's a joke. I'm disabled with a very low monthly disability check and my monthly credit comes out to $3.50, that's right three dollars and fifty cents.
I called the CAP number and spoke with someone who said you're lucky to get a discount at all. Isn't that a nice way to talk to a customer who by the way has been paying PECO bills on time every month for 45 years until recently. I'd like to tell them to forget it. They need the $3.50 more than me if that's all they can do. Whoever changed the discount rates on CAP should work for a place where they can't be involved with the public. I'm disgusted really I am. Think about it. A savings of $3.50 a month, big deal PECO. You got us under your thumb.

It is now June and I still don't have electricity. I recently lost my job and had to move back into my home that I wasn't renting out. The renter moved and had the electric turned off from under his name. This was in the beginning of May. My son and I were forced to move back due to this horrible time in my life. The home was vacant for about a week, so we could get our affairs in order. I placed an online order with PECO to have electric turned on in my name. A few days went by and I didn't hear anything, so I decided to call. At this point, a very rude/abrupt woman answered the phone like it was her personal cell phone and I felt as though I was interrupting her by calling. She told me that I tampered with the electric and owed thousands of dollars. I was floored and asked to speak to a supervisor. Surprise, surprise, she was the only person I could speak to and the supervisor.
How is it even possible this day and age to steal electric? Why would they even make that possible?? I can barely get the remote to work properly let alone rewire electric! I have never even gotten an electric account placed in my name before in my whole life!! However, since I am the homeowner, I am responsible. Also, I homeschool my child and it is way too hot during the day plus we can't get access to the internet, lighting, or most anything without electric. Not to mention I have Asthma.
Currently, I am laying on my living room couch at 2:30am with a battery operated lantern and a cooler full of ice. I can't even buy any food right now for me and my child. Where am I going to get thousands of dollars when I just lost my job and I'm saving every penny to pay my mortgage to keep a roof over our heads? We have nowhere else to go and it's so hot in here. We are drenched from head to toe and I'm in tears writing this. Is there really no help? Is this really a way to live? Not to mention, the water bugs outside in this heat are monstrous and I can't see anything in my dark house this late at night. This is an awful way to treat human beings. I called PUC and they really didn't do much. So what now? This is awful.

On 5/16/2017 at approximately 6:30 PM, I noticed that a 4000v PECO wire was contacting a tree located in the back of our property. Specifically, the tree was smoking. We have called in the past to PECO asking them to cut this tree back due to the proximity to the wire. I immediately contacted PECO emergency line to inform them that a tree was in contact with the wire and was smoking. I was informed that PECO would dispatch a team member to address the issue. After approximately 20 minutes, I again called the PECO emergency line. In addition, nearby neighbors also contacted the same PECO emergency line, due to concern over the now smoldering tree limb.
A PECO representative did arrive and stated they would tie the 4000v line back from the tree, and would request a PECO tree service team to cut down the tree the following day. The representative waited for additional help, and the two PECO representatives tied back the line. However, at this point, the tree limb had escalated from smoldering to having active embers and flaming debris fall from the wire contact site. PECO representatives indicated this was not a concern. Approximately, 20 minutes later, the large (`30') achieved a level of burn through that it snapped and plummeted to the backyard. Due the large disturbance and danger to the family, my husband and I evacuated the house with their daughter and pets.
I, again, called the PECO emergency line. During this phone conversation, I repeatedly attempted to inform the phone representative that the tree limb from the previous calls had fallen. The limb was now laying across the 4000v line, the ground line, and the two polarity lines. The phone representative informed me that the previous in-person PECO representatives had deemed the situation safe when they left. I explained the situation had changed and requested additional assistance. No additional representative arrived.
At this point, my husband called the PECO emergency line and informed the phone representative of the situation. Dr. ** was informed an in-person representative was en route. After another hour, My husband called the PECO emergency line, again, and asked for a supervisor. He was informed that the supervisor would call back. My husband spoke with the supervisor approximately 15 minutes later. The supervisor informed my husband that trees were the homeowner's responsibility. My husband explicitly stated the timeline, and requested additional help. At this point, my husband also informed the supervisor that this indicated neglect as the limb was laying across four (4) active PECO lines, had damaged the property, and presented a danger to home and life. The supervisor dispatched a representative.
At approximately 12:40 AM on 5/17/2017, a PECO in-person representative arrived. After viewing the damage, the in-person representative informed my husband that the tree limb was now live (i.e. electrically charged) and was dangerous. Further, he informed my husband that this should have been addressed earlier, and he would have a team address it. At approximately 4:00 AM on 5/17/2017, a team arrived and dismantled the tree.
Upon inspection of the site in the morning of 5/17/2017, a debris field was across the yard. And the tree has specifically damaged: the home gutter system, the home siding, a window jam. Due to the height of the room, and the remaining debris field it is currently unclear if there is roof damage. A unknown wire, although reported by PECO representatives to be cable TV is still on the ground.

However, because the electronic payment was returned two months in a row PECO put my account on a "cash only" payment status, denying all attempts on my part and their customer service to resolve the problem and get PECO paid. After two months going back and forth with their customer service trying to get the bill paid and the only response from PECO review board being "cash only at a PECO payment center" I finally gave up and closed the account.
Quite literally the last customer service agent I spoke with finally made the statement, "Oh! You don't HAVE to make the payment in person. Complaining to PUC is useless because they always side with Peco.
The current bill was for 2744 KWH but yet I had the central ac completely disconnected for half of the billing cycle just to see what the usage would be. Apparently using less electricity means you use more with Peco. 27 emails requesting information and they refuse to provide it. Somehow I was stuck with high electric bill that included the times I never lived in this rented house. They told me they will check into it. As time went on I was charged for a solar system that was put on the house. At the time I was renting not owning the house. After moving out the house I had the electric cut off. I was charge 1,888.00 for electric illegally put in the house.
After receiving a bill of 3,995.00 I quickly called them and told them I do not live there anymore. I been had my electric cut off. PECO told me I was responsible for everything including all late fees. I thought paying 900.00 in the first two month of living at this house was ridiculous but to come up with 3,995.00 is hideous and PECO has done nothing but demand I pay this ridiculous amount. Since my home has been made "energy efficient" my electric usage has actually risen and as expected my bill has gone even higher. I spoke with PECO and was told they do not handle that. Why should I pay more money because of something their company did?? I am on budget billing and currently pay $243 a month with the CAP program. Also next to impossible to get a live adviser to speak with through Customer "Service"...service being the optimum word here.
The problem is not being able to pay my budget billing, I CAN PAY (!) and always have, and on time. It is needing to change my payment date by 1 week. It is 'cash flow' problem as being on a tight budget now, I must wait for paychecks to come in to pay the bills. We are living from hand to mouth, and paycheck to paycheck, like so many others. They refused to change my payment date by one week. ONE WEEK (!!!) which would totally alleviate the problem, which I explained to them to no avail - was denied a change in payment date.

I did an informal complaint about PECO to PUC because there's no way I was using almost the same amount of electric as the previous year when my central air broke which is also the source of heat. I also had to pay a deposit because they never switched me to paper like I requested for 4 months prior. I recorded the call requesting it and when they verified the date I requested paper billing, I said "send me a letter stating that" and she asked why; I said "because I'm taking it to an attorney." No letter came and I called again and they verified the original date. And I asked again for the letter and again said it was for an attorney - no letter. And called again, now they said there's no record that I requested it.
Due to the informal complaint, they came and checked the meter and when the moron had me turn on the basement sub-panel, he said something in the basement is drawling 800 kWh a month but the problem is I didn't turn the sub-panel on because I wanted to see what he said. I guess he thought I was only holding my phone in my hand for no reason, not because I was recording the whole test he was doing. He also reported that I had more electronic equipment in my house than I do and that there's more rooms in my house than there is. According to PUC, my house should be using the amount of electric I'm being charged for. A 1 person 1271 SQ-FT house using slightly less in electric than houses 3 times the size with a full family living in them. PECO can do whatever they want because PUC will not find them wrong.

I find it stunning that as a Public utility, PECO does not answer their phone and in fact hangs up on callers. How is it possible that people be mandated to pay deposits that exceed any electric bill or outstanding balance that ever existed on an account or shut off your service. How is this possible when payments have been late due to their failure to cancel request to discontinue online payments? How is it possible that there is no mediation process? Most significantly how is possible to switch utilities to a new provider, receive an account from a new provider and still continue to receive bills from PECO? Clearly it is time to investigate PECO and their practices or this whole initiative to create competition is just lip service.

So yesterday on 9/21 I was ironing my clothes getting ready for work when all of the sudden the power goes out. I hear a truck outside of my window in the cherry picker noise going back down. I look out of my window and sure enough it was a PECO truck. I open my door and before I could even say anything he yells from the truck “Call PECO you should have been cut off.” I replied “Excuse me? What should have been cut off?” He said “Your electric.” So I said “Um ok. Give me the paper so I can call and try to resolve this matter at the same time.” I also asked “Why no one knocked on the door to inform me you were cutting me off?” He said very nasty “That's not my job to inform you that you’re getting cut off. Take it up with the office.” handed me the paper and walked away. When I looked at the paper to call in the description on why I was cut off it states that my power was illegally turned back on.
In an outrage I call PECO and asked them “What the hell is going on?” The representative goes on telling me that they sent someone out a month prior to turn off my service for missing a payment plan payment and that now I had to pay the full amount of 800.00 dollars and that there was nothing else she can do for me. I told her I was low income and didn't have that kind of money just laying around. “Are you sure there's nothing you can do?” She said “No sir there's nothing I can do. Call us back when you have the money if you really want your service turned back on” and hung up. At this point I'm pissed and Google different places that can help me with my bill. I call my mother in law upset. She said “Just go to PECO in the morning. Explain your low income on welfare and they should be able to help you in person.” So I do that.
It's now 9/22. I get ready to head to the PECO office. Before I do I call them again to see what time they’re open and where exactly do I need to go in my area and to get the correct dollar amount. One more time put in all my information and it says I owe 2,000 dollars to get my services to Turned back on. I was like WTF. Again I speak to someone. She said “Oh I'm sorry our automated system is messed up. Let me check your account.” She come back and says “No it's 800.00 dollars but if you don't mind let me put you on hold. I have to update my system.” So I wait. She come back 5 mins later and says “Oh I'm so sorry. Yes you have to pay 2,000 dollars if you want your service back on.” I asked “Why when yesterday is was 800.00 and you just confirmed it was 800.00 and now you’re telling me 2,000?” She says “Well sir it shows that you had someone illegally turn your service because our system shows it was cut off a month ago.”
If my services were cut off a month ago don't you think I would have called you then? My service was NEVER CUT off to begin with. Someone at PECO ** up and now I have to pay for their mistake. I don’t think so. They’re rude, out of control and corrupted stealing people's money and of course they don't admit to any wrongdoing. I want something done about this. DONE - yay, electric will be on. HAHA, NO... I had to have a different lease with a "start" and "stop" date on it! I always thought SIGNING was the start and telling your landlord you're leaving was the stop (apparently not according to PECO). Once this is received (to their specifications) on the THIRD business day you'll get a call telling you IF you're approved! WHAT???
I'm currently on day 9 of no electric or running water because my home has a well. Calling PECO and begging doesn't help, asking for a supervisor doesn't help. The things they are allowed to do to people shouldn't even be legal, especially if you made the payment. We are currently without electric as they won't cooperate at all, and want an ungodly amount of $$ to turn it back on. They are scam artists of the highest sort! And now we need help and can't get it even when we have a job with no working lights or gas. YOU should be out of business and ashamed and y'all make people give stars when they should. Why should I have to give you a star when you don't deserve it.

We paid our bill by the due date. Matrix, their online billing company, admitted to adding our payment to another account and also explained this to PECO. However, this was not enough for them to restore our service after knowing what happened. Now we had to pay the bill AGAIN, while the unknown customer got the credit! Oh, and it takes a whole 30 days to investigate! All this, after knowing exactly what happened to our payment. They could have restored power in the meantime. Disgusting!

The tenants previous had an outstanding bill of over 2000 dollars but it was still running. I signed up for paper mailing when I had applied. Not once did I receive mail from Peco and then all of a sudden our service was turned off. Called a million times just to be rudely handled and tossed around not given a single straight answer. All my food went bad that I had just bought and my family had to stay at a hotel. Finally we figured out after even confirming our address a million and one times the dumbass employees over at Peco had the wrong address. The most simple minded, unskillful, and unhelpful group of people I've ever had to deal with. There has got to be zero training or qualifications to work in their offices.

The message on the phone allowed me to pay this amount by Aug. 17th. To end my frustration, I chose this option.
Today is Sat., August 14. Four times I tried to pay my PECO bill, to no avail. The first attempt was online. This did not work. I tried again. This was the second attempt. On the third attempt to pay the bill, I dialed 1-800-494-4000. I entered all of my information & was told that my "card was not accepted". The 4th time I called another # on the bill (sorry - I now forget the #) & was told, "Your account has been blocked." Why can't I pay my bill? Usually, my husband has been in charge of bills. I took this responsibility over because he is recovering from heart surgery. Please help. Thank you!

Power will be on in an hour". Ok fine. Then call PECO not an hour more like 4. Not fine, esp when PECO was here at the end of the bldg yesterday knowing a possible problem, any other time we get phone recording a little before so we are prepared. Def NOT a crisis or the Damn guys would be here visible and working on problem and nobody here for last 2hrs.
What if a person had a medical problem and depended on power; without it they could die? Power goes off no warning and not prepared, or how about devices that when not properly shut off could possibly totally wreck that device? This is not acceptable in any way. I have such a device and it Damn sure better work when power back. Like I said WARNING OR INFORMING customers is very important. I complained again this year because my central air is broken and I won't fix it until PECO fixes their meter but yet I'm using a lot more electric than last year with the central air running, clearly their meter is reading correctly. Their response was their meter is reporting correctly and has been for the past 2 year. The newest bill is slightly higher than last years bill was with the ac running but I don't have the ac running because it's broken, so how can that be? Somehow with the main being removed I was still using electric their response to that was "you can still use the power. For example, the main can be bypassed." If a 12/3 wire was wired directly to the main power it would start a fire. Yup, PECO has very knowledgeable people working there.

I paid my whole bill after going through it with them about first acting like they didn't know I made the payment, then asking did I call to let them know, which I did. They ran out of excuses and placed me on hold for half hour then the phone disconnected. I called back and was told I had to just pay. I did. There was a balance left of $68.08 and the new billing of $72 - $75. I was on a budget billing that was never really explained to me until the day my services was shut off. I allegedly spoke to a "Supervisor" by the name Rya ** who explained to me very detailed about the budget billing. It was a complete rip-off and it was making me pay an extra $107 towards my bill that I thought would go towards what I owed. It didn't and I asked where was my money going and wtf was it budgeting. At that time, I told her to take me off of it and I didn't need it.
When my bill came out due July 9, 2015, today, it stated I owed something higher than it was. They sent me a disconnect notice due July 2 for a past due balance for my current balance that was due today 7/9/15. I couldn't understand why my services was shut-off on 7/8/15 and they could not give me an answer. At this point I am speaking to an attorney to possibly file a civil suit against PECO for my billing and illegally disconnecting my services. I will file a formal complaint with the PUC as well. I feel they are playing with my services by a click of a button at the office with the smart meter I was never informed I received until 6/4/15 when speaking with Rya **. Now, I am told my current balance is $13.63 with a $6... credit. Really.

They never sent the required written notice nor could I get anyone on the phone. I was kept on hold for an hour and a half waiting to speak with someone. Then when the time reached 7 PM I was left waiting on the phone after the office was closed. I called back several times and was refused assistance. Claiming I would just have to wait until my power came on. They did their part and couldn't help it if there was no power. No help of any kind was offered even though they were in the wrong. They treated me like a criminal. I explained that it was health issue where medicine needed to be kept cool. They laughed and said "You should have paid your bill." I don't know who these lackeys think they are to comment on situations they do not have complete information on.
I asked for a supervisor and was hung up on several times. It’s amazing how easy it is to turn power on yet how it take 3 days to restore! These reprobates need to be put out of business. I wish there was any other company we could use as our supplier. At this point we have seriously considered moving to another town where we would be safe from tyranny of PECO! I then repeated this to the gentleman who then responded we are being shut off for a past due of $182. I was shocked and repeated that amount back to the gentleman and asked why would anyone get shut off for only $182 that's practically the amount of one bill in the summer.
He then went to "call" his supervisor, came back with a document stating our electric was shut off and to call this number. We are still trying to get in touch with someone on said number to pay the bill because we have the money ready for over an hour now and no luck. It's absurd and a scam. My bill from PECO was 312$ this month. I live in a small apt, about 1100 sq ft and am gone for the large portion of the day. I get home and spend a couple of hours watching TV/cooking etc and then go to bed. I'm not using anything that is electrical or gas intensive that would justify this charge. I've lived in other apartments before and run AC all the time and have never come close to these payments. I have friends and families in homes that are 3x the square footage running central air all day and they pay less!
This is absolutely ridiculous. What's worse is that I've gone away for literally 2 weeks out of the month and have shut off all electricity and gas usage and saw, literally, no change in my bill. How is that??? I'm convinced that what PECO is charging is not directly linked to what's being used. There is simply no way I can be paying this much for a small apartment without some kind of error on their part.

Prior to services being shut off I made several attempts to get on a payment plan to get back on track, and with no avail, Peco will not work with you unless you can provide proof of income and it's all or nothing. Now here is the catch that joke of a PUC, I called them to file a complaint and see if I could get on a payment 3 weeks down the line, and with no electricity, I'm still want to get approval to PAY OFF MY BALANCE.
Now $313.00 doesn't seem like a lot, that was even fair and I wanted to pay that, but then they tacked on a $75.00 + 50.00 that was due the following month making what I owe over $400.00. My suspicion is that the PUC is corrupt and is get paid under the table by this ruthless utility company that sees nothing but $. I'm from NY where if you're behind on your Utility you can call your utility company and arrange a payment plan. With all the hassle with PECO it's as if you are applying for a credit card and you have to be APPROVED to pay off your bill. So...after PECO removed the electric meter from the wall last year for a period of over 2 1/2 months, and were continuing to charge between $400-$500 a month while the meter was off the wall, a settlement agreement was reached, and after $639.00 was credited to the account, (3) bills came in a 3 day period of time, which started adding back onto the bill, the amount that was credited...this was last July, 2014. PECO has yet to resolve this matter.
Here is what they did do. The bill was in the person who is 96 years old, who had difficulty hearing on the phone because of her two hearing aids. So in February 2015, the account was finally put into her daughter's name. For the first time in 44 years, the bill was then put into a different name at the same address. While her daughter was trying to fix the problem(s) with PECO telling her mother when she closed the account not to pay off the disputed amount, or she would never be able to recover said amount, a customer relations "Business Analyst" from PECO writes a letter to the new account holder, the daughter, and in this letter, literally states that the daughter has lived there from 1984 (not true, by the way), states that she has profited from the electric, and this is what he says he is going to do.
He stated in a March 5, 2015 letter that he transferred $1,299.00 from the mother's account to the new account, making the amount now at a balance of $1,542.00. Here is the thing, it is awkward. Don't you think that PECO cashed a check on May 18 for $340? The budget amount given....they cashed the $340 check in April, and they cashed the $500 and some check in March. But today they sent a "Notice" stating that on June 4, 2015, they are cutting off the electric, because without permission, or authority, they violated the law, and transferred money from one individuals account to a completely separate account without permission to do so, knowing that they will be cutting off a 96 year old's electric, and a disabled individual! Good going PECO! Wow, to think she is a stockholder in Exelon too! You should all be ashamed of yourselves!

I guess I will add my complaint too. Mine started last year when I fell ill and had practically no income for 4 months. I called to get on a payment plan and was told they could not go by the fact that I didn't have any income presently and was billing their rate at 250.00 a month based on my last pay stub. Didn't make any sense to me, as I know people who were making more than me and their bills were like 50 bucks a month.
Moving forward...This past April they told me I owed 2500. I said that I could pay them 800.00 that week. They said "o.k. but we can't stop the shut off until it's paid in full." "So why would I pay 800.00 to have a service I wouldn't be getting," was my question. I was taking that money from my 975.00 rent to pay them. Then I was going to double up on rent the following month. I graduated college as a nurse in May. I have started working and now have to catch up on my bills and Peco is the only ones not willing to bend.
Now the bill is at 6000.00 because they decided to bill 1000.00 a month for the last few months and charge me 1000.00 too because they had to cut off the service. I am now trying to figure out what me and my family is supposed to do for the upcoming winter. There are 4 children in the home and we have been without electric for some time now. No programs will help me because based on my new income as a nurse I don't qualify for any help at all. Couldn't get help when I had low income and now can't get help because I make too much money. All the bills I had to put to the side due to the illness and only being able to work part-time to finish school total thousands. Peco is so ridiculous. I can't wait to move to an area they don't service!

So on May 15, 2014 I paid the 100 and then in June I got a shut off notice. So I called PECO to see why the lady said because I was late paying. I told her I paid on the 15 and that it had posted. She said they didn't receive it till the 19th but if I paid 218.00 I could get reinstated on my plan. I explained that I didn't get pd for another 2 weeks and at first she said I refused to pay it. I said no that I was refusing - just explaining that I don't get paid for another 2 weeks. Well she gave me a little extension and so I was supposed to pay the 218 on a Wed.
Well I called Thursday the day after as soon as they opened and paid the 218 and 6 hrs later they shut me off. Then when I called and I told her about the $100 issue and about the other lady she told me that I was short and that I was supposed to pay the $100 plus whatever the bill was. I don't know why the lady didn't tell me that. So now I've been outta power for a month now and I've had kids taken away. I owe 2100 - that's after my paying 400. So far I don't have that type of money but I don't understand how they can shut you off for being a day late. That's ridiculous. I don't know what to do - can anyone help me?
I've called them and have talked to them maybe 3 times and the supervisor and they keep telling me, “Well we already told you what you have to do which is to pay full amount.” I've tried to call everyone from welfare to churches for funding and nobody has it and that it’s hard to get right now and my house is in foreclosure. I have been forced out of my home, and just got a new bill of $1,475.00! I am on this "Budget Billing of $166.00 a month and I have NO ELECTRIC! If anyone can help me at all, please contact me.

I am being charged large amounts of payments each month even though I do not owe it. I was placed on some type of plan without my knowledge and I am being over charged for electric even though my usage is down. I have complained but no one can tell me what is going on. Even if I call 5 times in hope of getting someone else, the people are very consistent in being inconsistent and unprofessional. I am being told that because I am late, they are OVERCHARGING my account AND I WILL RECEIVE THIS MONEY BACK IN 2 YEARS. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I am disabled and on C-PAP from pulmonary hypertension and my young daughter is an asthmatic and these charges are making my life a living hell! I keep asking them to change my due date to the 4th of the month so that I can make my payments on time.
They would rather penalize and destroy my life rather than work with me. This is a insensitive and very harsh-minded company. It is not like I am not paying PECO or whomever. I am beginning to see this as stealing. Since January 6, 2014, I have paid a total of 2,567.30 (not including the amount of $359.82 that I am being charged for July 2, 2014). Something is very wrong here! Right now, according to my records, I should have a $263.71 escrow. I do not feel that I am being treated fairly and I plan on contacting the Attorney General and the CEO because this appears to be fraudulent practices.
At this time, I am not using a heater or an air conditioner. I am not even using my C-PAP that much. Further, part of my home IS NOT receiving electricity. Since I had a new meter installed 6 months ago, I believe that it is faulty or something. In any case, something needs to be done! They are being overpaid and this makes it harder for me to pay my other utility bills! SICK OF IT ALREADY!

I have had the misfortune of dealing with PECO. They randomly charge extra deposit fees if you fall late on a bill. If you saw all the astronomical charges, you could understand why some people have a hard time paying the bill. I never got a shut off notice or a phone call. And my service was terminated for $200, while I have a friend in media, with no special service and is past due over $1000, and they still have service. I paid my bill over 24 hours ago and I am still in the dark over a day later.
The customers service department at PECO is the most unprofessional and inconsistent department I have ever had to deal with. 3 phone calls, 3 different answers, all saying the last operator gave faulty information. Was promised the service would be on in 4 hours. That was over 24 hours ago. I must have updated my telephone number about 5 times and they still have a 10 year old number on file. Does anyone do anything right over there? Where on earth do they get these clueless and insensitive people?
When I called to complain we never received any shut off notices, just a bill that is due in June, I was told, "oh well, we tried to call. You say the number is wrong, we mailed you a letter. So you need to talk to your mailman about not getting the notice by mail". Mind you, for some odd reason, they keep calling a number that I took off file. My service is off, PECO was paid and they are dragging their feet about providing me with the service I paid for. Who is watching them? Where is the PUC? Did some rich owner from PECO pay them off? How is this even legal? Why do some folks get cut off for a small amount while others owe thousands? This needs to be looked into.

I have resided in Philadelphia for two years. Initially, I had to put of a deposit for service. After one year, PECo did credit the account. Since then, PECo has desperately attempted to get me to switch to another service provider. My average bill per month is approximately $80 during the winter season; approximately $50 during the summer. I just received a notification requesting another deposit of $150 because of missed payments. Okay, I only owe them $80.
I worked for this Company when it was the original Philadelphia Electric, such behavior would never had been tolerated. This Exelon Corporation and their Gestapo-like tactics are ridiculous. Where is the PUC? When I worked for Philadelphia Electric, the PUC would never had tolerated such gross incompetence. Yet, there has been some on the Main Line that have been permitted to run up thousands of dollars and no threat of being turned off or a request for a deposit. Again, I owe less than $100 and they want a deposit.

I have been receiving my monthly Peco bill at over $110.00. I live alone and hardly have electronic equipment on all day. Although I work from home, I doubt that this will bring my bill up so high. I have been receiving these high bills even when I worked in the city and was barely home. I need to see if Anyone can help me with this. I think I am being over billed and no one to assist me.

In 2008 PECO showed up to my residence & shut service off. My husband & I were away on vacation & never received any type of termination notice. I paid on the account every month. The balance was from a previous resident. I was threatened by rep at PECO that if I did not assume responsibility for balance, my power would not be turned back on. I would have to file a civil suit to recoup my loss. Apparently that was false. I have been battling for 5 years. I live in fear of them just showing up & shutting service. The informal complaint they agreed to now falls to PUC. They are also past the statute of limitations with this starting in 2007.

I have a new office outside Conshohocken. Per instructions, I faxed in an application for an account. To date, I have emailed the application two times, faxed it four times, and paid a courier to hand-deliver it. They claim to not have received it, despite confirmation from the courier company and fax confirmation. They have shut off the power to the business, despite the issue being their gross incompetence. After 7 applications, I still have no power. I am amazed they can run a business in such a horrible manner. I am appalled.

We received a shut off notice for our home on the PECO bill issued one day past the due date. This has never happened before. The bill was just printed out and mailed from PECO and according to customer service agent I spoke to, some sort of computer program issues these if the bill is not paid on the date it is due. End of story. I was then lectured by the agent for having a bill past due. This is a utility out of control with the ability to push consumers around during days of 100 degree heat.

I receive my bill online and I make payments online. I never received an itemized bill. I called and requested one and after being on hold for over 10 minutes, the customer service rep said he would send me one. I requested that he email it to me. He informed me that he could fax the itemized bill. I was placed on hold for sometime. He got back on the phone and told me that he had just faxed it over. I still have not received it and it has been 2 1/2 hours.

Peco billing. We have been getting bills for a Michael **, who is not us. My husband is Michael **. We have been members of Peco for 38 years and they were very good about service issues. (We do have other properties too). We have taken them birth certificate, marriage certificate to prove identity and that it is not one of our properties. They still continue to harass us with bills and sometimes phone calls. They never have the same customer service agents to help you, as they are temps. We have been to their offices, spoken with managers etc. They now have our credit report damaged. This, I do not think is legal. We have always had an excellent credit rating and now they are jeopardizing it.

It was absolutely a horrible service. For the past couple of weeks, the lights have been flickering until I had an electrical burning smell in my bedroom for a while. I then called PECO to come out and see what was going on. Again, since I had called the day before, I know that this is probably due to the electrical wire running to the house, being pulled possibly almost ripped out but I'm terrified of an electrical fire. And this morning, I called again to have someone come out at around 9 am and then they did not come. So I called again around 2 pm and yet nothing. There was no call, nothing. It was absolutely disgusting that these people can get away with this.

My daughter had PECO Energy as an electric provider for two previous residences that she lived in. PECO Enegy has since took her back bill and placed it on my account at an address that my daughter does not live anymore. They have cut my electric off 3 times in the last 2 months due to the lies and miscommunication. PECO stated to me that since I was the owner of the house, they could not legally cut my electric off to come down with my deed id to create a new account for my house.
I am 76 yrs old and need an oxygen machine to sleep every night due to sleep Apnea and my seizures. I went to PECO Energy with the information needed and opened a new account. I have since made a payment of $300 on that account. Today, Sept. 22, 2011, PECO came to cut my services off. I have had two extensions due to the fact that I need an oxygen machine at night. I have never lived at my daughter residences but PECO wants to insist that I benefited from there services.

It is a long story but I will keep it short. Peco did not send a bill to my home for a year and a half. This is after I applied for service in my name first then in my son's name. We faxed over all required documents and no word from them. I called on 3 different occasions and nobody knew nothing. So for a year and half nothing. Then on 5/16/11, I received a shut off notice about my service saying we did not apply which is a lie and I have a document to prove that we did. I faxed over the same papers again and then had to call the PUC to try to stop the shut off which they were trying to do in 2 days from the notice I received.
Then, all the sudden Peco gets the papers I faxed then tell me that my son who's name was added to lease 6/10 is going to be made responsible for the previous bill that was in the name of Ilene ** who was a tenant till 9/09. The original lease does not have my son's name on it and he did not live here till 6/10. Peco tell me that since both there names are on lease, then he is responsible. How can he be made responsible for a bill he did not make. Peco also claims that Ms ** called them in 2/10 to take the bill out of her name. I was not informed of that until 6/10. Why?
We are a low income family and can not afford to be paying a bill for $2,675.39 which at least most or half should be billed to Ms. ** who the name of service was in. The lease issue is what is being thrown in my face because 1, I asked for her name to be taken off, my landlord refused. My son was add on 6/10 and all my landlord did was type in his name in the occ part of the lease. No new lease was drawn up and Peco tell me that because the copy of 1st page of lease that they got has original start date of 5/08. They are assuming that he has lived here the whole time. I have proof that my son did not live here til 6/10. 2) It is not our fault that Peco dropped the ball on putting the service in his name in 6/10 and now they want us to pay almost 3 grand in service. 3) The CSR and PUC were of no help and treated myself and my son like we were criminals, even threw the word fraud around. How could they get away with this. My son is disabled and I am disabled as well.
This is crazy that because Peco is greedy and my landlord did not change my lease that we are made to pay this outrageous bill and that Ms. ** walks away with her bill being paid this is very disturbing. I would like all the help I can get to resolve this matter before they send another shut off notice for the 3 grand that they expect us to cough up by 6/22/11.
