I have had this microwave for several years now and it has always performed as expected. So far, my wife and I have only used it for warming up leftovers. My wife also uses it to make corn-on-a-cob. It works perfectly for this particular task and is very quick. I would definitely purchase this same type of unit again.
Easy to understand and operate, no complicated controls. Never had a repair, over 10 years old. Cooks anything easily, has separate controls for each food you are cooking, pizza, popcorn, frozen vegetables, meat, defrosting. Mine is 1000 watts and cooks most foods adequately for me. It has a glass turntable, easy to remove and clean, mine happens to be portable and not installed above my stove. It is moderately sized yet will accommodate a large casserole dish if needed. The front is dark glass but can be seen through while running since it is lighted inside. I wouldn’t buy any other brand since I have had such good luck with Oster.
My only issue with the microwave is a 30 seconds button. The size is great and I bought it in black. Easy to clean, I've had it almost a year, and the buttons show no indications where you hit all the time. I chose black to match my other Oster product. They behind the products.
Was a gift by my sister from Target to substitute for my nonworking apartment stove. I wish we had looked at more units before buying this one. Right away, whatever I prepared boiled over or was undercooked, especially using the pre-programmed settings. Inside is rusting out around the turntable well and door jamb, due to condensation and moisture buildup. The finish is peeling off, as well. It recently started to arc during operation. I believe this is due to poor ventilation inside the unit and lack of a sensor, which would have reduced the power and shut it off before such accumulation of vapor had been allowed. Never again will I buy an oven without a sensor or by Oster.
Have had this for about one year. Was melting butter in a microwave safe bowl with a microwave cover. Starting making a funny noise prior to electrical sparks in the unit. I quickly unplugged it. Smells like electrical fire. Called warranty dept. They told me butter causes sparks and I would need to plug it back in and turn it on to see if it is still sparking! I told them no way and they pretty much told me I was out of luck. Of course there was no manager for me to talk to and was told I would have to call back... DO NOT BUY THIS. I offered to send pictures or even send the unit back and was told that was not an option.
Had this microwave less than a year and the TIME COOK does not work. Only the express cook. Very irritating. Sent an email to Oster over a month ago and no response. Always had a Sharp in the past and they lasted for years.
The paint has bubbled and rusted yet under another microwave oven. My first was a Sharp now an Oster Microwave. No coverage after 90 days. Contacted Oster and I was told to quit using however they would not replace. What is going on with Microwaves? Are they using cheap paint inside the ovens???
Purchased the Oster microwave in late Jan 2017 after buying our first house. It just died yesterday. Not even a year later. Didn't use it more than once a day, if that. Paid $75 for it. This is unacceptable. Nothing but good reviews before we purchased it, now there are all the same reviews. Dead or rusted out. I don't have my receipt, or the paperwork that came with it anymore. What now?
I have an Oster microwave for less than 2 years and the bottom plate has rusted out with holes in it. The microwave I had before this one lasted me many years, only reason I replaced it was to get this bigger model.
Had microwave for one month and it quit heating. Everything else works fine, but no heat. There does not appear a way to reset it. Wish I had the reviews before buying one. Paid $200 for it and did not keep box or receipt.
I bought my unit about 3 years ago. It would heat (burn) food in the middle and food on edge wouldn’t heat. I would move plates around to compensate. Today all I was doing was setting the clock because of the timeframe. For some reason the light inside flickered off and on. My control panel went dark. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Had some lights on panel but they went out again. Now nothing works! I’ve had other microwaves that have lasted for years. Never been so disappointed. My Oster toaster is just as bad. It only toasts one side, when it toasts. If I turn it up just a bit, it burns the toast!
Partial display a few months after purchasing. Paint started to peal almost a year. Tossed the receipt because originally I found good reviews. I had a 20 trouble Panasonic that still looked good. Should have had it repaired.
We purchased out Oster 1.6 cu ft microwave w/ sensor from Walmart last night. Got home and plugged it in, and NO HEAT! I called customer service this morning. "JOHN" advised me it probably sat in China too long, then the USA warehouse and needed reprogrammed. Takes 10 mins. He walked me through it and NOTHING. He said 5% are junk. Reading these reviews, I see that the majority stop heating too soon. Our never did at all! So, back to Walmart to return it, and then somewhere else to purchase a different brand completely. Sad. They know this is a problem, yet, nothing is done.
I bought this unit at Target about a year ago and beyond the issues of getting the timer and clock to properly function, we have experienced the same product flaw as others wrote of on this and other websites. The carousel track has burnt/melted through and it gives off a smell warning of an electrical fire. It is CLEARLY not fit to be used and deserves a full refund and recall before someone gets hurt using it! 20 thumbs DOWN on this badly flawed product! IF this review allowed for pictures, I'd provide them.
Same exact experience as all the others. Less than a year old and completely rusted, melted paint and plastic, ran with door open and couldn’t stop it without unplugging, started arcing from all the rust and is a SERIOUS FIRE Hazard!!!! The manual that came with it says Westinghouse, so they are in on the blame WES1450 and 1452 and JES1453. Huge pile of crap!!!
I purchase a Oster microwave and appox. five or six months ago, the numbers and cook selections starting to come off the control pad making it impossible to see. This happen with just using your fingertip pad. I tried to contact Oster but cannot find a contact number to call or e-mail them.
Just bought it three days ago at Walmart. We used it to heat up some water and it shut off completely after a 2 min use. Smelled like melting plastic. Top of housing is too hot to touch. Will return it to the store and NEVER buy an Oster product again.
Just over a year old and our Oster Microwave has rusted out. Kind of reminds me of an Old AMC Gremlin that I owned. Rust started to form around the doors. Got worse and worse like cancer. After 3 months around the door rusted so bad we could not close the door anymore. The rust blistered and made lumps around the door so no seal. What a piece of junk. Using real cheap paint I'm guessing to save a buck.
Purchased an Oster microwave oven model EG034AL7-X1 and there was no user manual included in the package. Now I'm being told that the manual is not available for downloading on their website. I purchased this oven for the new grilling feature, but it is useless because I do not know how to use it. How do I get a copy of this user manual without purchasing another microwave oven?
I bought a Oster Microwave from Target in January 2018. It lasted 5 Months then it had a technical meltdown... called the warranty company. They couldn't do jack for me because I didn't have a receipt. They don't do any repairs of any kind and cant give a refund without the receipt. Absolutely terrible customer service. I've had it with cheap Chinese things that always break down fast and from now on I will NEVER EVER buy anything Oster or any other Chinese made electronics EVER. I'm sick of it. BUY AMERICAN!
I really wish I had read these reviews before purchasing my microwave. I chose Oster because I thought it was a good brand but I've had problems with it from the start. One problem that I didn't realize had to do with the microwave oven but after reading a review by Lee of Abingdon, MD on here, I see it could. It always blows a circuit! I thought it was just my old house but no other items in my kitchen do this. The first problem was a burning smell every time I used it. Then I noticed a burn mark that started on the door. The next problem was the burn marks and rust near the vents inside the microwave. It doesn't seem to vent properly and is always very wet inside when I use it. Next, the bottom started to bubble and peel and now is just exposed rust. This now affects the plate turning. I want to just throw it away but can't afford a new one. Do not buy Oster microwaves. This seems to be a common problem.
The entire inside of the oven is rusted. The floor is extremely rusted and there are rust spots over the entire inside of the oven. Purchased about 3 years ago. I no longer have the receipt. Had other ovens before that never rusted and that I was able to give away.
Just bought Oster microwave in the last month - worked fine for a couple of weeks and now starts to produce a burning plastic smell when in use for over 1 min. I bought it to replace the last one that came with the house we bought, should have known not to since the last one produced a lot of steam and that is probably why the bottom was rusting out. Not sure what I am going to do now. Didn't think to keep the proof of purchase for return.
I purchased the microwave from Wal-Mart on 1-29-18. The first one we broke the turntable setting it up, called the company was told they no longer made parts for my model of microwave. Well, I had just bought it, straight off the shelf from the store, they should have still had parts for it. I took it back to the store and they allowed me to exchange it. The second one I used for a week, probably only used it a total of 4 times. It started overheating, then the lights inside would flash off and on and the control panel lights would dim and brighten. The beep sounded like a pterodactyl squawking. Then it started locking so you couldn't turn it off even though you could tell it was overheating. I returned it to the store and purchased a different brand of microwave. I will never use an Oster product again.
Only had a year and a half... paint peeling off under microwave turntable. Emailed customer service to see what could be done and was told I had to call a different phone number for service. Wasn't looking for service, just a remedy for the problem. Would not recommend to buy.
Less than a year old - door latch clip broke off and now you cannot open the door. What a waste of money and another piece of garbage to put in a landfill. Not covered by warranty and they offered no information on who could fix it.
Oster Microwave: Purchased from Walmart less than two months ago for my elderly parents... Came to visit. Used it. Opened door... It kept running! Fire starter! Exposed to waves. It needs to be removed from all shelves!!!
Oster Microwave 1100 watts: What? Less than a year and it stops warming up food... can't find paperwork, certainly thought it would last more than one year so probably didn't worry about keeping receipt or paperwork - not buying this brand again ever. I'm sure I purchased it from Wal-Mart. Based on other reviews here - I guess I’m out of luck for repair or replacement.
I bought my microwave 1100 in Feb 2017. I had a stroke and was not able until recently to try using the Microwave... As of today 06-11-2017 I have not been able to get it to heat up... I have done everything the book that came with it said to do and nothing has helped. Brand new, never been used and because I do not have receipt they won't help me. I WILL NEVER buy anything with the Oster on it again... Buyer beware.
I have had this Oster microwave a little over 2 years. I noticed the bottom under the glass is rusted out in the groove where the turntable support is. Also a chip in the front top. Is it safe to use this way and isn't this an issue for the Consumer Products Safety people to explore? Also, the numbers on the digital display are not working correctly for the past six months. Poorly made product and wonder if I'm being microwaved if I stand anywhere in the kitchen while using it.
We haven't even had our Oster microwave a year, and the past couple of days, we have heard some kind of noise coming from it. We thought it was the cat food that we were warming up for our two month old kitten. Today, we tried to defrost frozen, ground turkey & not even two minutes into defrosting, the thing was smoking!! Threw it out. Will NOT be purchasing from this company anymore.
We bought a Oster microwave in February 2017, and yesterday (May 11, 2017) it stopped to work. I am very disappointed... 3 months??? Only 3 months??? I am sure that this microwave is still on guarantee but I cannot find the guarantee paper (probably my husband threw it away on a cleaning day). So, I cannot do nothing.:( VERY DISAPPOINTED:(
Excessive condensation is puddling on the floor and running down the door no matter what I'm cooking or reheating. The unit (Model EG034AL7-X1) is vented according to the manual with very little, if any, air coming from the outside vents when in operation.. Called cust. service and was told this was normal. Wrote a comment to Oster on 3/8/17 and have heard nothing. Really tired of mopping up water from the bottom of this unit. Guess there is no other alternative except replacing this unit purchased on 9/29/16.
Bought the Oster 1.6 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave 2 days ago. Model OGYZ1604VS. Very bad chemical/plastic smell and making me sick. Called Oster. Was told to put a cup of vinegar and water in it for 2 minutes. That did NOT help. Also, keeps running after done cooking/heating. I was told that's normal but doesn't seem normal to me. Returning this tomorrow and buying one made in the USA.
My new Oster microwave arcs and sparks at the klystron (the part that generates microwave energy). The unit was manufactured in June 2016 purchased in November. Oster offered me 50% of current price for a model they discontinued. I offered to ship it to them at my cost. If they would ship me a new one that is similar. I never heard of a manufacturer that does not use FedEx, UPS, DHL or USPS. Unless of course what they make is too big for them. They could not replace their fire hazard equipment. I've learned do not pay cash and keep the receipt and box. I also learned a manufacturer guarantee does not protect consumers but people that produce sub standard products. Do not buy Oster products. Their products are inferior their customer service is worse.
I bought this Oster 1.6 cu ft Microwave OGR41602 for a very reasonable $99.99. It worked well until last night. I was cooking a souffle and about 10 minutes before it was done, the microwave just stopped working. The souffle was a failure. I looked at my receipt and discovered I had purchased it 1 year and 10 days ago. I didn't hold out much hope for any satisfaction, but I called the customer service representative. (I thought that failing 1 year and 1 week after I bought it was REALLY bad luck.) Nevertheless, the young lady helped me, had me try a couple of things, then said she was sorry about the inconvenience to me, and told me A CHECK WOULD BE SENT TO ME IN ABOUT 6 WEEKS! So although I'm not recommending the microwave itself, I AM recommending their service center.
I called Oster about my microwave today on 1-12-17. I told them that when I was using it, baking potatoes, it stopped working and has done so off and on since. CSR told me that baking potatoes in it is not a good idea because they generate a lot of moisture while cooking... well, it does have a potato setting and even with a picture of a whole baking potato over the top of the button. None of the functions ever worked, but Costco has KNOWS GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They took the thing back... no questions asked... My question is if there is a short in these ovens, and CSR said they have had issues, some of the reviews have had them burning, shooting flames, etc. What is Oster going to do??? Wait until someone died in a fire??? Why haven't these ovens been recalled???
I purchased an under the counter can opener from Black and Decker once. It would not cut hot butter and they must have sent me 25 emails. What color is the plug, is there a number in the plug. Stupid question after stupid question. Ya know what? That was 20 years ago and of all power tools, shop vacs, appliances, etc... I have yet to own ANYTHING Black and Decker makes since that experience. All because of that can opener. My family doesn't purchase their products either. GUESS WHO ELSE goes on that list??? OSTER. NEVER AGAIN... EVER will I purchase anything they make... EVER. Bought a new microwave today. PANASONIC!!!
Model #OGB81101. Parents bought this model in December 2015. First one didn't work out of the box, Nebraska Furniture Mart replaced no problem, told us to throw the old one away rather than return it... Dad found issue was faulty electrical cord wiring so he rewired and used 6 months before crapping out on us, so they started using the replacement in August 2016... 4 months later and it's having issues with inconsistent heating and turntable is acting like the gears are missing teeth and makes a horrible noise... Will not be purchasing another Oster. We still have an old 1980's model in the basement that works quite well.
I bought this microwave 900 watts in December 2015, it has stopped working. It keeps cutting off and when I reset it nothing happens. I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it will work then it power off again. This is a piece of crap. Do not waste your money on this product .When you bought an Oster you bought quality. Now it's cheaply made.
I have a microwave under warranty, it's 7 months old now. The microwave is turning on the plate, the plate spins but does not heat up the food. I called customer service and they do not want to replace the microwave. I am very disappointed with this product. I am never buying an Oster Microwave again.
Oster 1.3 cubic foot capacity Microwave oven - I bought this microwave 17 months ago. It has a one year warranty. So, it is out of warranty by 5 months. My wife told me of the problem yesterday, but I don't know when it occurred. The damage looks very old, but I know that heat damaged steel will corrode very quickly. All the Oster people said was "thank you, don't continue to use it", and they will NOT reimburse me anything. In the lower right-hand corner of the inner compartment you can see severe heat damage, in fact, the finish which is maybe paint, has melted and started running down. Pictures are included.
Microwave purchased Dec of 2015 now door will not open. Contacted Oster and was told they do not repair so will receive a refund. Called back with info they asked me to provide and was told I would receive an email with instructions. No email was received so called back and had to ask for the info and was then told 10 weeks to process a refund. How ridiculous can it get. Told the rep that it had not taken them 10 weeks to accept my money. Will never purchase another Oster product.
Over the past 25 years, I've owned three microwave ovens. The first one lasted 15 years; the 2nd one lasted 10 years. This Oster 1.3 cu. ft. was purchased around March 2015. I am amazed at how quickly this Oster deteriorated! The carousel can't rotate, due to the bottom rusting through. When setting the heating time, it turns on for 2-5 seconds; shuts off. I am getting a replacement, but not an Oster...! This was my first Oster microwave.
I have had microwave for three years. Enamel paint surface peeled and exposed metal surface behind magnetron cover plate. While using microwave started spitting flames as it blew a hole in cover plate. It appears there a number of persons having issues with enamel paint peeling on these later microwave. I've had 4 different brands and until now never had this problem. Guess what brand I won't be buying.
Purchased this microwave a month ago. I still can't get the burning plastic smell out of it, and it makes a strange internal noise as it is working. What a cheap, poorly made piece of junk. The smell is horrible. I don't know if there are any chemicals leaching into my food because of it. I am getting rid of this thing today and will get something a better. I would never recommend this machine to anyone.
Oster 1.3 cu 110 watt microwave. Worst decision I've ever made buying this thing. It steams up a LOT of moisture while cooking, which leads to the bottom and door frame rusting. Even if you dry it out after every use. I had it less than 6 months before it started rusting out. Then it would just stop working mid-cycle, no warning, no noise, just dead, while the timer keeps going. So now I need a new one. Guess which brand I WILL NOT be purchasing.
I purchased an Oster microwave approximately 3 years ago. Now it's headed for the trash. I put my water in the microwave for 2:06 & it keeps shutting itself off several times during that time. I have to stand & watch it so I can reset it each time. Trust I will be buying a new microwave & trust IT WILL NEVER again be this trash brand. It may be one to save money upfront, but will cost more in the long run.
I purchased an Oster microwave (model OGB8903) back in July and at the end of November it just died. No problems, no warning, nothing. Just quit working. I save every receipt (my partner even teases me because I have saved receipts from Kroger for a couple of years) but, unfortunately, I haven't been able to find this one yet so I may not be able to return it. Hopefully I'll find it before July but if not maybe I'll turn it into something else (a little free library?). Will not purchase Oster appliances (or subsidiary Sunbeam) again.
My mother got me this microwave for Christmas last year. It start to peel under the wheels of plate holder then it started to peel around door. Now it has started to break apart under the turn plate and you can see directly through the bottom. Today the microwave started going and stopping by itself.
Oster Microwave Model OGZJ1104 (manufactured 8/14) - Purchased this microwave in December 2014 from Target for $60. Clock went out about 6 months ago. Unit stopped heating yesterday. So disappointed. Will not purchase an Oster microwave again.
I turned my microwave information 30 seconds and my microwave made a loud weird noise and I saw flames inside the microwave. I bought my Oster microwave less than a year ago. Model number OGB81103. 1000 watt microwave. I bought it at Costco.
My son bought me a brand new Oster microwave in April 2015. It's stopped working in September. (Does not heat.) I had my previous microwave for over 10 years. I can't believe this product is still on the market after reading these reviews. DO NOT BUY!!!
During a kitchen remodel we needed a small microwave for our meals so I purchased the "cheapest" one I could find; a 900 watt Oster for $60. Everything I cook in it such as frozen dinners & meat pies burns quite severely on the bottom, middle. It gives my house a burned smell. I have to discard that portion of the meals and I'm seriously afraid of things catching fire. I'm afraid to pop popcorn because I believe it will probably ignite! I only need this microwave for another couple of weeks but I want to warn other customers... DO NO BUY THIS! If not monitored, it might burn down your house.
Microwave was set for 7 minutes, turntable plate broke in my daughter's hand... very bad quality... Never again.
The microwave caught on fire after having it less than 2 months. I guess I paid to use it a 1.00 a day - didn't even last 60 days.
Bought Oster because I thought it to be well made and last. I bought it from BJ'S. It will not heat anything. Very disappointed with unit. Not even 1 year old. I use mostly to reheat. Never buy Oster brand again...
Just bought a new Oster 1100 watt microwave less that a month ago. Already the plastic film over the number controls is tearing off, unit is noisy. Expect it to puke any day. Not what I expected from Oster.
My boyfriend bought me a microwave (Model OGZJ1104) on February 20, 2015. Today on March 29, 2015 it has stopped working. It comes on and spins but it won't heat my food. I'm very disappointed.
This microwave started peeling at the bottom of clear plate showing the metal. I will Never purchase another Oster product again. It started smoking from the bottom, I called to make a complaint. They can't do anything because I didn't purchase warranty at store & I don't have receipt.
OGB61101 - Incredible... This product lasted 1:37 minutes. It was set to 3:00 minutes just for a test. A glass with water was used. Start button was pushed and it started OK. I stopped at 1:37 and pushed start again. That was all. The timer kept counting, but the plate kept still, no humming or anything. Tried all buttons, nothing happened. A fuse or breaker was not tripped. Days later after playing with all buttons it came alive, and seem to be OK, only to die again after the next stop press. Sadly, I bought it from a military store and stored it over a year so there were no warranty. Product looks beautiful but it’s a piece of junk.
Oster OGYM1401 1.4 Cubic Feet Digital Microwave, Black. Purchased this item on July 2, 2013. On March 2, 2015. My microwave was rusting on top and a rust spot on the lower front behind the door. A hole started to developed on the lower area where the rust was exposed. I don't live in a high humid area. New England is dry most of the time except summer. I call Oster about it, but it was out of warranty. So I am going to replace this microwave oven with a Panasonic.
OGYK0703 - Same as most others here. Junk. And I bought this because of the Oster name. It's apparently mass produced junk made in China by Galanz with the Oster name slapped on it. Oster would not do a thing about my microwave that quit heating after only slightly longer than a year. My previous microwave lasted over 10 years! Shame on you Oster.
Purchased Oster Microwave 5-2013 at Bjs. Model #0GYM1602. 1000 watt. Less wattage than the one I had for 10 yrs. Breaker kept blowing. Called an electrician. Still kept blowing. Finally discovered it was the microwave. When I called the oster help line for info or recalls they had no information on this model that was reported. Finally found my receipt. Later said they couldn't help me--it was out of the warranty. What a bunch of crap. Oster should remove microwaves from their line of appliances if they can't back this product. Customer service awful. Very dissatisfied Customer.
The door release on the 20-year microwave broke. Don't much like reheating all leftovers on stove or in oven, so off to Wal-Mart for a new microwave (MW). Oster Model OGC2901/2902, made by Guangdong Galanz in China. MW was at just the right price. Microwave was used lightly, reheat leftovers, coffee; nothing serious like defrosting or cooking a whole meal. Right after Thanksgiving 2014, the MW would heat intermittently. Thought it was something I was doing wrong. Middle of December 2014 the microwave will not heat anything.
The logic board, fan, interior light, turntable, buzz of the transformer, all of it is there, but won't heat. Called Oster with receipt in hand. Since Receipt read 12/2/2013 - and it was mid-December 2014, in as far as Oster was concerned I was simply a nuisance. MW Lasted little more than a year! They would not even assist any further in helping me to fix it. I will not purchase Oster anything. Would rate Zero (0) if I could, but website insists on at least one star.
Oster Microwave 2013 Model # 0GG61101 just stopped heating - Very disappointed. I have had my microwave for about 8 months. Only used once or twice a week. The power comes on and turntable turns, but does not heat. I will never purchase another Oster product. My prior microwave lasted for over 10years. I will return to purchasing a brand that has proven customer service that stands behind their products.
Very disappointed. I have had my microwave for about 10 months. Only used once or twice a week. The power comes on and turntable turns, but does not heat. I will never purchase another Oster product. My prior microwave lasted for over 15 years. I will return to purchasing a brand that has proven customer service that stands behind their products.
10/23/14 - Just put a Pop Tart in my microwave, wrapped in a napkin, and it caught fire big time. The microwave was jumping and fire was inside. I stopped the microwave and noticed that the metal plate inside on the left, close to the light had burn spots around it. I've had the microwave only a couple of years, but I can't find my receipt, so I'm stuck with a dangerous appliance. Good thing I didn't walk away from it.
I've had my Oster microwave for barely two years. I keep it immaculate and didn't have any trouble until all of a sudden, with no warning, it stopped working. Wouldn't heat up anything, not on defrost, or anything.
I had this microwave for less than one year and used it very rarely, mainly as a kitchen timer and to make popcorn for movie nights. This morning, I put a frozen chili pepper in to defrost, set the microwave for 15 seconds, hit start, and a few seconds later heard a loud pop and the microwave was full of flames. I am fortunate there was no damage.
I have just purchased this microwave oven and immediately put it to work. Baked a potato that I pierced prior to placing in the oven, as per instructions, and had it cooking for 6 minutes. The potato was done alright BUT the exterior of the microwave has gotten pretty warm, both the top and the sides. I wonder what would have happened had I cooked food for longer than six minutes. Hmmm. The microwave was sitting on a stand, separately and away from the kitchen counter. There was nothing else around it. Furthermore, the glass turntable is sitting on the shaft very loosely; this hasn't caused problems during the short time period I've had it, but I anticipate some. It was also making an annoying low-pitched sound while cooking which in itself not a deal breaker for me, but the overheated exterior is. Back to Walmart it goes which is yet another hassle.
Oster 1.1 cubic feet countertop microwave - I purchased this microwave less than a year ago. It worked great up until this morning when I tried to heat up my coffee. It lit up and burned up 5 seconds in to the reheat. I unplugged and found my receipt. I tried to call Oster but it's Sunday and no one is there. I also tried to email them, but hitting send doesn't work. So I looked on my users manual and sunbeam is also part of Oster! I wrote them an email and that takes 3 days to get a response. Truly my last microwave was 15 years old. Very disappointing!
Bought this microwave about a year ago and have had nothing but problems... Thought maybe it was the way I was putting something in it because it rattles all the time. Has major issues with hot spots because things burn in center of food... Then I noticed it wasn't heating things every time. Now this morning is the last straw because it doesn't even heat at all. I will never buy another Oster product again. The last microwave I had was just a cheap one that lasted almost 15 years and the only reason I got rid of it was because I broke the glass plate inside and thought for the price of a replacement I could just buy a brand new one. It was even an off brand... not happy!!
I have had a 1.1 cu ft Stainless microwave for approx. 2 years. It has constantly thrown the breaker (my previous microwave did not do this) and now makes a horrible grinding noise as the plate rotates. I expected a lot more out of an Oster appliance. My other microwave (GE) lasted for 15 years. No more Oster products!
I am willing to pay for service and parts, but only get the automated voice message from Oster. Oster's customer relationship IQ = zero. Never buying another Oster product.
Bought Oster microwave OGB81102 from Costco. All display panel lights go out after cooking if use for more than a couple minutes at a time. Started at about 2 weeks. I trusted this trade name and didn't bother keeping box or receipt. Tomorrow am getting a Panasonic microwave from Home Depot. Basically I was screwed and have no leg to stand on. Will never purchase another Oster product again. I have read online about other people who have purchased Oster microwaves and they have never been able to obtain service under warranty. Supposedly Oster subcontracts to make these and the subcontractor does not stand behind the warranty and just routes customers from one place to the next. It's easier to throw it out and buy Panasonic. DO NOT BUY OSTER MICROWAVES!!
It wont work anymore (AFTER ABOUT 6 USES), it sound like it's working but it wont get warm at all.
Bought the microwave Saturday 4-5-14. I used it that night to heat up hot water and not again until Monday night. I was baking sweet potatoes and 6 minutes into it, it just shut down. After about 10 minutes of cooling down it came back on. I started it again and after 5 minutes it shut off. We got on their website and you can't find microwaves anywhere. I'm hoping Meijers will take it back and I'm buying what we had in the past - Sharp.
I bought a model #OGG61403 in December 2013. Yesterday, April 2014 I shut the microwave door (did NOT slam) and the front glass on the door shattered!!! Called customer service BIG JOKE. Wasn't covered under warranty. Thought this brand was very reliable. Guess not. Still in shock that it even happened.
I also have had the enamel peel from off the bottom of my microwave and wonder too just how much radiation we have been exposed to!!! I see where at least 3 of the entries on page one of this thread concerning Oster microwaves have listed this as their problem. And mine looks exactly like the pics supplied by one of the entries as well. Does anyone know the results and the effect of this to our human bodies Is this a serious threat to us? Is there already a class action suit concerning this existing that you know of? Help! What do we do?
For a few weeks now my Oster microwave inside enamel has been peeling off on the bottom. Moisture seems to gather there under the plate. I finally got a hold of someone after about 15 prompts and 4:30 on the phone. The guy was very snooty from the beginning of the call. He looked everything up with my serial number. He quickly announced that I was outside the manufacturer's warranty and I would have to take it to an outside repair shop. The cost would be as much as purchasing a new unit. I asked if the company cared about it's image and he told me that surely that I did not expect the company to repair beyond the warranty because they did not know how it had been treated. I told him that I expected some courtesy and that Panasonic would always stand behind their products regardless because it has their name on it. I will avoid the Oster brand and I encourage others to reconsider the long term effects of purchasing any thing with this brand.
We purchased a new Oster microwave in December. In February it quit heating. It will still turn on and run, but does not heat anything. We are now using our Sanyo microwave that we have had for several years.
I bough this unit new around 4 months ago. I bought this brand because OSTER has always been a solid brand for my family over the years. I bought the microwave new in Oct of 2013. After having the microwave 3 weeks, 1 bar in the digital display quit. No big deal. I can still read the numbers and cook controls to use the unit. Today in Feb of 2014 the whole unit POPPED and then totally went dead. So now I'll have to buy another new microwave AGAIN. It WILL NOT be another OSTER product that I know for sure. I'll go back to buying my appliances from Sears.
I purchased an Oster Microwave 3 years ago and started having problems with it last year. When I set the time for cooking, the microwave would not start no matter what I did. I unplugged it and tried to restart it but nothing. I slammed the door and pushed the start button, and it worked. Very rarely would the microwave start unless you slammed the door. Today, I heated up a bowl of soup in the microwave. When I tried to remove the bowl of soup from the microwave, it was hot and I spilled the soup on the glass tray that came with the microwave.
When I removed the glass from the microwave then clean it in the sink, the coating inside the microwave was gone and a nice size hole is now in the bottom of the microwave. I will never be able to use this microwave again. My mother purchased my son an Amana microwave oven as a Christmas gift back in 1989. I donated that microwave to Goodwill when I purchased this piece of junk. I'm now scared of what I might have been exposed to as a result of the protective covering and the hole inside the microwave being gone.
The Oster OGG61403 microwave is PURE JUNK. First off, the oven made more noise than my Harley Davidson motorcycle. The handle was so hard to pull the over pulled across the counter when you try to open it. The bells and chimes wake up the neighborhood so there was no sleeping when that microwave was being used. So after 3 months of that noise it stopped cooking. Just sat there and made a bunch of noise. Oster Company does not stand behind their microwaves. So I hope the CEO of Oster gets brain cancer and lives many long years. Hey Oster, Thanks for the pure junk.
Blew breaker while cooking tonight and now won't work at all. Got on Oster website and there is nothing on site about microwaves for sale or service. Must be why they don't sell on site because of poor quality? Won't purchase another Oster microwave anywhere offered.
Bought this Oster microwave late 2011 and it is now not working. Would have expected it to last longer than 2 years. Very disappointed!
I would expect paint, with proper cleaning and use as I have done, to last more than a couple years. The paint on the inside door first started bubbling and sparking and now it is doing it in other places. I managed a quick fix with duck tape at first but I can't possible patch all the places anymore. I have had to pull out my old 5 year old microwave that I bought at a yard sale and start using it again. It's paint hasn't peeled, why can't Oster (a much higher priced and better known brand) hold up? I'm sure it is past its one year warranty so I doubt I have any recourse but I am dissatisfied because I expected more from this company than peeling paint. I loved the design and find I am now truly disappointed that I can't have what I paid for. Not to mention, it first sparked when my 12 year old child was using it and I was still at work. Considering I don't allow her to use the stove when I'm not home, this is quite a slap in the face just when you think you are being safe by allowing a 12 year old to use the microwave to heat up a snack after school.
Oster Microwave Model OGF41101 - I purchased two of these ovens in July 2012 because they were visually pleasing and I thought the Oster name brand was reliable. What a mistake. Both units had to be replaced because of the same reason. The units came on, ran as normal, only they did not heat up anything also the control panels indicated a code of some sort that I know nothing about nor is this information found in the manual. Both my units went bad within two months of each other. Retailer Walmart NO HELP! I will never buy another Oster product nor will I recommend to anyone I know. Hope this post keeps someone from falling into the same trap.
I purchased Oster microwave from Target on March 1, 2011. Yesterday, 12/2/13, the microwave did not heat. This microwave is less than three years old. To make matters worse, Oster site does not even seem to recognize that it ever manufactured a microwave - at least no microwave shown. I tried to communicate with site but "send" did not work. Message just evaporated. I do not think a microwave should stop working after less than three years and I cannot, so far, receive any satisfaction, I see that stores are still selling Oster microwaves so find lack of communication unreasonable. Yes, I am angry, I cannot afford this type of unreliability and need to replace in an unreasonable time frame.
I purchased my Oster Microwave about 3 years ago. Now it has a peculiar smell when I cook in it and makes a horrible sound. I am disgusted because I paid enough for it and it should last more than 3 years. Now I have to buy another one and it won't be OSTER!!!!
I bought an Oster microwave about four years in September. And I was fixing supper one night and tried to heat up some water to fix mash potatoes. And I put it in there for like five to six min and it would never heat up. I was so damn mad now I have to buy another. It should have lasted more than four years. I will never buy another one like it. Please do research before buying one because they are **.
Ok, I purchased a new Oster stainless steel microwave from Costco and it just went kafluey on me last night. It won't heat up anything. I unplugged it and tried to restart and nothing. I hardly ever use it. It's practically brand new. I'm taking it back to Costco. This is ridiculous. I previously had a Panasonic that lasted for 13 years. I should have kept that one. Nothing was wrong with it. I just wanted something new w/ a newer-looking style. That was one big mistake. Will let you know how I do.
It started acting flukey about a year after I bought it; now it won't heat. Made in China POS... The one I had before worked fine but I fell for their Marketing at Target... I am a working man on a budget and Oster has had their way with me. Stay away from their products.....
I purchased an Oster microwave from Fry's. It worked okay for about a year. Now my food is as cold after being in the microwave for 5 minutes as it was when I took it out of the fridge. NEVER AGAIN.
Oster Microwave less than a year old - Interior coating has peeled where the glass plate turns. Will not purchase this brand again.
I bought this Oster microwave from BJ's club in Aug 2012. After 9 months of use, it suddenly stops working. The power is on, it runs normally but nothing heats up... such a piece of crap and waste of money. I spent $80.00 on it. Never buy Oster microwaves again.
I liked the microwave (OGF41101), but this morning I tried to warm some coffee and there are not lights anywhere - on the panel, inside - nowhere. I can only guess it is dead!!! So, I am not pleased that I have to take the time to research and buy a new one!!!
I purchased the Oster microwave last spring. The microwave is not used on a regular basis and everything worked fine until last night. At around 1:00am, I heard an alarm go off so I woke my husband. But he also heard it and thought it was the alarm to get up for work. After we got up to check the time, we realized it was the microwave oven beeping continuously. We could not stop the beeping or turn it off. We tried the power button. Nothing! The display was asking for a code. What code? It never had one. To silence the beeping, we unplugged it. Today, I got home and tried again to see what the problem was, no luck. It's still not working, still beeping and it still wants a code. It's trash and a waste of money. Don't do it!
Oster Microwave model # 0GF41101 - I bought a brand new microwave in 2011 and it worked fine for a while. Then within the last year, it started turning on if you bumped the microwave. Yesterday I stuck a dish of beans in for one and a half minute to heat. I left the room, heard the timer go off, and then started to smell something burn. I went in to the kitchen. The microwave tray had stopped rolling, but the heat was still going and burnt the hell out of my beans :(
I bought a brand new Oster microwave from Costco. After unpacking, it would not even heat water to room temperature. Piece of junk.
I purchased this microwave in November 2011 in anticipation of a move that did occur in March 2012; that was when use began. Yesterday, when removing food from the unit, there seemed to be moisture collecting between the inside panel and the "window" of the door. When I used it next, a few hours later, there was a line of water from the top of the glass inside. Today, my baked potato did not cook properly in the usual time and my coffee cup is "too hot to handle" when removing from the oven and it seems to not be as hot as it should be. What do I do, please?
My 85-year old mom wanted a microwave for Christmas, so I went to Kmart and bought her one (12/05/2012). As of yesterday, 02/09/2013, it stopped working. I would like to know what to do now. I no longer have the box it came in, but I do have the receipt. I must say I am very disappointed in this item. Please advise. Thank you.
Oster microwave OGYM1602 - I bought this, brought it home, unpacked it and it will not work. It will not heat up. Biggest piece of crap ever. Very unhappy.
About only one month after purchasing the Oster microwave, it would turn on by itself. I was in the other room and was not using the microwave at that time. After that I kept the microwave unplugged when not in use. For the first week or so, it would still work. However, it was a fire risk. It would turn on as soon as it was plugged in, no buttons were touched. I tried pushing the reset button. However, it kept running. The light inside was on although no heat was being produced. If the buttons were pushed multiple times, it would work. But it still poses a fire risk. The only way the microwave would shut off is to be unplugged. The microwave needs to be replaced.
My two-year-old microwave has quit heating. It runs but won’t heat. I live by myself and my microwave isn’t used that often. It is ridiculous for what I thought was a good name brand to quit working in less than two years. It was given to me for Christmas in 2010.
At 2:00AM, I heard a loud pop and shattering glass. I got up because I thought someone had broken into my house. This sound was the glass door on my microwave, which was shattered. I live by myself so no one was using the microwave and there was nothing in it. When I called customer service, which was a company named Galanz, I was told it's physically impossible for this to have occurred the way I explained. There had to be an external force acting upon it, according to the tech rep. I again stated that it was 2:00AM and no one was up. I was made to feel like the rep did not believe me and basically was calling me a liar. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that there wasn't one available.
After a few more minutes of back and forth, he hung up on me. I later called Oster back and spoke to their manager. She was very helpful and stated that she would call me back after speaking with the manager at Galanz and maybe they could do something for me. I told her that the warranty was up and that I didn't expect them to do anything for me, but maybe investigate the incident and maybe others like it.
When my Oster microwave was only three years old, the lining of the interior of the oven peeled away under the glass revolving plate. Now, it makes a noise whenever something is being cooked. Our other Oster appliances have been fine but I am disappointed with the microwave.
I purchased a 1.1 cubic feet microwave unit 7 months ago. It crapped out now. I cannot find warranty repair/replacement information.
I purchased my Oster microwave in December 2012 because it was the right size for the space in my kitchen. Every time I turn it on, there is a terrible grinding sound which continues until the cooking time runs out. I didn't realize the glass plate travels clockwise some of the time and counterclockwise the other times. Is this a normal procedure with microwaves? Each time I use it daily, I wonder how long it's going to last. My Sharp microwave, one of the first ever made, was fabulous and lasted 25 years! I should have learned.
We bought the Oster microwave last August 2011 and it was broken this March 2012! It's is not heating at all. It had no blown fuses or no sparks. There’s no sign at all of anything wrong. It just stopped heating! We had a smaller microwave that was still working after 4 years. I gave it to someone else who needed one and we bought this crap. So now, we will make sure not to buy another Oster and to tell others not to buy neither. From looking at others' reviews, is the time frame of using Oster's products 2 to 9months? Is that the reason it's only a 90-day warranty?
I bought an original microwave at Meijer in August of 2011. It lasted for 4 months. The microwave was scorched inside, obviously overheated. Luckily, it did not start a fire. I bought another one in January of 2011. I had it for two months and will not heat food at all. I am very dissatisfied and will never buy another Oster product.
I purchased this microwave (Oster Microwave) at Walmart last September. In February, while warming up the food, it suddenly stopped working. I contacted Walmart and since it has been past 90 days, they could not help me. This microwave still looks like it's brand new, but it went out as if it was 10 years old. I am very disappointed that it didn't perform like it had 1,000 watts. At times, I would have to add additional minutes for proper cooking.
I bought an Oster 1200-watt microwave oven and it was over the 90 days to return it to the store. I had it less than a year and when we got it home it was always blowing a fuse in my house, then it stopped heating food. How do you contact the company about the junk that they put on the market?
I received this microwave from my mom for my birthday in July. It's now February and about a month ago, I noticed one of the digital lights has gone out. I tried to take it back to Target for an exchange, but since it was over their 90-day return policy, they said they couldn't do anything. So now, not only am I disappointed by Oster, which is a name brand I've always thought was quality, but Target has lost my confidence as a loyal customer when it comes to purchasing more expensive items like kitchen appliances. And while I know that the light isn't a major thing to many and my microwave is still working, for my family it is a big deal. We are not wealthy by any means and this was a huge present for me. To have it become defective in less than a year with no means of returning or replacing, my image of both Oster and Target is forever tarnished.
I started this microwave yesterday morning. It started for 1 second. I heard a pop, and a weird sound, and the microwave will not turn on at all now. I've had this for over a year now, and I am disappointed, as I did a lot of research that these were good, and that the GE microwaves had recalls on them too. I opened the back of the microwave to get the fuse, to check that out, and notice that one wire that is brown is black on the end, where it has the terminal lead. It looks like it burnt.
I bought a new Oster microwave two weeks ago at Meijer. When using the microwave, it shuts off the first time you use it. This happens about 95% of the time. It’s a problem with the microwave, not an electrical problem, as we just had a griller and a coffee maker on at the same time, and it did not shut off. We replaced a Panasonic microwave on the same circuit and never had a problem. Please advise what we are supposed to do. Thank you!
I purchased an Oster 1.2 cubic ft. stainless steel counter top microwave. When I got it home and opened it, It does not work. It starts for a minute but does not get hot and does not keep running. I would appreciate your immediate attention and response to this issue. My phone is **. My address is **. My email address is **. I would like a postpaid return label and my refund back. Thank you so much for your immediate attention.
2009 Christmas gift Oster microwave (# OGG61101) quit heating today. Everything else is still in operation. I thought Oster was a quality brand. Still researching how to lodge a complaint with Oster. I tried the customer contact form on their site and each time I hit "submit" to send the email it's rejected.
I purchased the Oster microwave Model#: OGM41102 on 8/30/11. Two months later it started making a grinding noise like the gears were not working properly. Walmart will not return it for me because it has been over a month. I'm not happy at all! Also, the front of the microwave where the buttons are, is peeling. I will not ever purchase an Oster product again!
I was given an Oster 1100 microwave for Christmas, and the paint at the bottom is bubbling and peeling off, as if the bottom part gets way too hot. I have contacted Wal-Mart and since it has been more than 90 days, I didn't receive any assistance from them. I have emailed Oster waiting for an answer, but ovens seem to be more hazardous than good.
I purchased an Oster microwave on May 8, 2011, but on August 1, 2011, it quit working. I did what the warranty said and sent the cord with the information required. This week, I received a check for the purchase price but have checked with six banks and because it is a Canadian check, the banks have to charge a service fee to cash it. I have called the company issuing the check, and they basically said that it is my problem.
Considering the check is for $59.99 and the banks are charging me $25.00 to $30.00 to cash it, I am only recovering half of my money for a product that only worked for two months. I have always liked Sunbeam and Oster products but will now avoid them completely.
I am trying to get information on my Oster Microwave that supposedly came with a 1-year warranty but is not even on the website. I called & cannot get through to anyone. I've had my microwave for about 8 months and it's already gone out. I have no way to get it replaced on warranty.
I bought this Oster 1.1 Cu. Ft. Steel Countertop Microwave Model OTM1101GBS over a year ago. I did not really use it until now. I did get the power up but the problem is with the START button. When I set the microwave time with the turn knob and push START, the timer and the turn table would work but no heating power is available. The user manual does not help, too.
I got a new Oster Microwave model #OGG21401. It’s a 1200W that is supposed to be the only thing plugged into a 15amp outlet. I have had nothing but problems with this microwave tripping the breakers. I made sure nothing else was on when we used the microwave. I moved it to another wall which had a 20amp breaker on it & GFI but it would still trip the breaker.
Now, the microwave didn’t trip the breaker but wrecked the outlet knocking out other appliances including my hood above stove & my kitchen light. This microwave was not cheap & has cost me electrician fees, stress & time. I bought new breakers because we thought it was our breaker. Come to find out we didn’t have any of these issues until we replaced our old microwave with this one. This microwave is stamped with NOV. 2009 at the back. I have no idea how long it was on stock at Wal-Mart but I know I bought the last one.
I would highly recommend anyone not to buy an Oster Microwave. Now I have a huge microwave staring at me that has cost me more than I can afford. Thank you for making such a crappy product & not standing up for your mistakes!
I received a Oster Microwave last year as a Mother's Day gift. It started sparking inside so I call Target they won't do anything after 90 days I always thought the name Oster was reputable also think Target stinks now too!!! I have had this piece of crap for a year I had to pull out my old white reliable GE Won't buy anything else Oster.
I received an Oster Household Microwave Oven for Christmas 2010. I used it last night, then the light inside went off. I unplugged it and plugged it in again. Still, nothing. I unplugged it, left it unplugged all night, still nothing. I called the company, they said nothing can be done, and to contact Walmart. Walmart also said nothing can be done.
I purchased an Oster Microwave, Model #: OGG61101, mfg. on Sept. 2009, in 2009, at a super Wal-Mart, I used it on a moderate basis in my apartment up until, May 30, 2011. when I placed a cup of water to heat a cup of coffee, tried to heat it three times, it would not heat it. Tried other outlets, still would not heat. I called the customer service dept., they will not cover it due to it being over a year old, and that they claim there is not a consumer problem regarding this microwave unit!
I went online to their web site containing recommendations and complaints, and read about so many other consumers that are experiencing the same very problem with this very unit, and they too are getting the same answer from customer service, that they are claiming there is no "irridecent" problem with their Oster microwaves! At this time I would like to start a petition to have them claim a recall on this and many other microwaves with this model #: OGG61101.
I received an Oster microwave from my son for Christmas 2010. It’s now 5.12.11 and the microwave stopped heating and makes a very loud noise when it’s on. I called today (5.16.11) and was told that they could do nothing without a receipt. They need to know the store where the unit was purchased. Why? It’s there product, not the store’s. On plate, it states that this microwave was manufactured on September 10. I always thought that Oster was a good brand and that they stand behind their products. I guess that is wishful thinking. I will not buy anything with an Oster name on it and I would suggest that no one else does if they want a good brand name that stands behind their products. This experience was none other than a rude awakening into Oster’s business practices.
I purchased an Oster microwave oven about one year ago. I bought it because of the name. I didn't use it often, and it just quit on me. The name Oster lost a lot of credibility with me as I have a blender. The model is OGF41101.
I went to return a microwave I purchased there and it was over 90 days so I was told to call a 1-800 number to get the problem resolved. I called Oster and they said it wasn't under warranty since it's been over a year. The unit quit working 5 months after its purchase; won't heat. So now I have Oster model #OGF 41101 that serves me with nothing that can be done to get the problem resolved with Oster.
I bought an Oster Microwave Model no. OGM41102 in December 2010. It worked fine until this past week. Every time I shut the door it just keeps running. I have to keep trying to shut the door till it does not turn on, so now when I am done using it I just unplug it. Is there a recall or anything on this? I bought it at Walmart so I am taking it back there. It is still within my 90-day period.
I purchased an Oster microwave model OGF41101 on 5/31/10. It tripped the 15 amp circuit breaker often. So, I had the outlet upgraded to a 20 amp. The microwave tripped the 20 amp breaker too. I finally got around to calling their warranty service number. They asked a few basic questions. Then, they said that they would send a letter and after I fill it out, they would give me a full refund. Obviously, they are very aware of the problems with this microwave and it should have been recalled. They don't even want the unit back. They are going to issue me a check. I checked out a lot of forums. Many people have had the same problem.
I purchased Oster Microwave model # OGB8901 in November 2010 from Meijer's. It's only been one month and the microwave has started smoking when you use it. I am so disappointed in this product. Even more alarming is the number of growing complaints about Oster microwave and the fact that retailers continue to offer them for sale.
I purchased a Oster microwave about three months ago at Wal-Mart, manufacture date Nov 9, model number OGF41101. The microwave kept tripping the breaker for months, then it blew. So we moved it, thought it might be too much on one circuit. Then last week, it just died. It still runs, turns lights up, just does not heat at all. I don't think they are supposed to be this disposable.
I received this microwave for Christmas in 2009 from my parents, and in November 2010 it stopped working. It doesn't heat up at all. I called to complain and the first person I talked to was so rude it's unbelievable. So i talked to a Supervisor and she talked to me like I was a 2 year old. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I cannot believe how I was treated.
No, I do not have a receipt because it was a Christmas present. And, no, my parents don't keep receipts for more than a year. The microwave's Model number is OGF41101 with serial number F40909A01589, and manufacturing date is September 2009.
I bought an Oster microwave oven model OGF41101 in Dec. '09 and it stopped working today. We very seldom use it and now that I needed to warm something up, it doesn't heat. I tried to get in touch with someone there and no one answers the phone. I am sick and tired of companies like this taking advantage of the consumer. This company has a terrible track record of handling problems either with the product or customer service. There has got to be a way the little guy, us, can get the satisfaction that we, the consumer, deserve, especially when it's still under manufacturer's warranty. Why even have a warranty if it's not going to be credited? A very upset consumer.
Oster microwave is about 2 years old. No problems until I used the timer to cook something in my regular oven. I set the microwave timer to one hour. After awhile, I went to check how much time was left on microwave's timer, and discovered the microwave was blazing hot and not keeping time. I opened microwave to discover a huge area on the glass plate that sits on the turner had cracked and crushed glass and charred black spots all over the bottom of microwave! I immediately unplugged it and put it out to trash.
We bought an Oster microwave on11/25/09. It had a funny smell to it from day one. However, we just thought it was the "new" smell. Then on 09/27/10, the smell got real strong as an electrical smell and then it just quit working. We bought a product replacement warranty from Wal-Mart and went online at ** to register it and the result was contact the manufacturer. I think Wal-Mart should have to contact the manufacturer, because they sold the defective product. Now I am sitting here on hold waiting to speak to a manager at Wal-Mart and have been on hold for over 25 minutes! This is ridiculous! If you sell a product then you should stand behind that product and treat your customers with decency and pick up the phone! I am so disgusted with Wal-Mart and Oster. I will never buy another Oster product as long as I live.
When starting the microwave, it frequently blows the circuit breaker (20 Amp). I changed the location to put on different circuit. It continues to trip the breaker (again 20 Amp). If I increase breaker size, it will no longer protect the wiring. I purchased Oster Microwave from Lowe's and will be taking it back there, hoping for satisfaction. From reading reports on this site, I am certain I will not receive help from Oster.
My Oster microwave is not that old, a couple of months, compared to my previous microwave that I had for at least 10+ years. When you plug the Oster microwave into the socket, it immediately begin to run although no buttons have been pushed. There is no damage other than not having a microwave anymore. I am glad you published the email about the fire. I will be removing the microwave from my home immediately.
My Oster microwave caught on fire at 4 in the morning while we were sleeping. The microwave was off and only plugged into wall outlet. Good thing I woke up when I did. Fire chief said it would have surely caught the house on fire very soon, if I hadn't awakened when I did. We would have died from the toxic smoke.
We were given an Oster Microwave in February as a house warming gift. Everywhere we plugged it in, it would trip the circuit. An electrician came out and could not find anything wrong with the wiring, etc. Today I went to warm a left over pizza for 30 seconds and it caught on fire! It’s very, very dangerous. My house almost burned down. My baby who has lung problems had to have breathing medications, and of course I am out of the cost of the microwave. The circuit seems to blown or damaged, too.
An Oster 1000-watt microwave (Chinese-made). One year and two weeks after purchase, the oven interior paint developed a light pale-red stain as it was a spill which would not clean up. It felt lumpy. We scrubbed until the pain flaked off, revealing an almost black coating under the paint. Apparently the steel had been etched in preparation for paint but not rinsed or primed properly destroying the internal appearance. No warranty per their customer service. Ugh. China has destroyed the Oster name. $87 for one year of use and it's trash.
I bought this Oster Microwave today. It worked only one time, so I'm taking it back now. Do not buy! This is an awful microwave. Save yourself time and money! I wasted gas, money and time.
My wife and I purchased an Oster Microwave. Approx. 3 months later while making microwave popcorn, a loud bang came from inside the unit. Upon opening the door, it was discovered that the internal glass dish cracked right down the middle, almost in a lightning bolt pattern. Needless to say we were quite taken aback by this and assumed it would be covered under the warranty or if not, replaced in good faith by Oster. We were wrong on both accounts. It was not covered and we were told it would cost $30 to replace.
We bought an Oster microwave in December 2009 and it was working fine for 4 months. About a month ago, it started building up excessive moisture inside, to the extent the the interior seams were rusting and water was dripping from the door. When contacting Oster, they first said it was our environment that was causing the problem and it wasn't a warranty issue.
Then the next representative accused us of not maintaining the microwave properly because we didn't wipe it every time we used it. There was nothing to wipe until a month ago when all the moisture started forming. They took our denial of wiping the first four months as meaning the microwave was filled with uncleaned food which then clogged the vents.
When asked how they knew we had a dirty microwave, they referred to the wiping comment that was totally unrelated to maintenance but was said during the discussion of the moisture problem. In all, three representatives hung up on us out of four including one supervisor. They have been coached to ask probing questions that they then turn around to make it seem like you have created the problem yourself.
One tech even suggested we probably dropped the microwave causing the problem. Another said it was unsafe to use and we should pay to have it repaired. In all, it was a surreal experience with a company that obviously doesn't value its reputation or return business.
I sent you a complaint about the Oster microwave purchased in January. The microwave no longer works, as reported. However, we learned today that because we purchased it at Target less than 3 months ago, we can return it!
We purchased an Oster Microwave in January 2010 at Target. Two months later, it quit heating. The turntable worked, the timer worked, the display said "cook" but it did not heat. After reading the complaints online, we realized we were out the purchase price and won't waste our time looking for recourse.
My husband called the 800 number listed with the Oster microwave because every time we tried to start the microwave it tripped the circuit breaker. We changed the microwave to another area and it tripped that breaker. We turned everything else off connected with that breaker and still when we tried to use the microwave, it tripped the breaker. The technician asked my husband if he had the receipt for purchase of the microwave and when my husband said he no longer had the receipt but we had not had the microwave longer than 4 months, the technician said that he could not help my husband with the problem.
My husband tried to pursue with the problem, but the technician said that without the receipt, he could not help with the problem and he terminated the conversation and hung up. The Oster microwave continues to trip the circuit breaker every time it is used; therefore, we no longer use it and we will be forced to buy a new microwave. Oster will take no responsibility nor give any advice in how to remedy the problem even though the product is less than 6 months old.
After about two months, the microwave will not heat anything. The turntable turns, the clock works but no heat. The warranty says, "To obtain service, call 1 866 866 6283 in the US and Canada.” When I call, a voice says, "The number you dialed is not available from your area code” or visit sunbeammajorappliances.com. This results in a message that says the website cannot be located.
I bought an Oster microwave oven at Best Buy. A hole formed inside and we had to stop using it because a ball of fire and sparks were in there every time I turn it on. Less than a year old, it smokes and I'm just afraid to use it. What if it were to explode?
I purchased a new Oster grilling/microwave. Appliance quit working in the first 2 months. Had it repaired by an authorized repairman. Appliance blew up within another 4 months. Oster customer service claims they no longer support this item. There are tons of consumer complaints regarding this specific product & others from Oster. I'm out the original $100 for the microwave plus another $80 for the repair. Please help.
I purchased this microwave 8/23/07 for my kitchen remodel, which ended up being postponed. I put the microwave in service about a year ago, and it is now making a terrible noise when I use the convection feature. The phone number in the manual does not work and I have not been able to get anyone to help. I have seen many other people's complaints on the internet. Is there a recall on this model (OTM1101VBS)? I feel a $130 microwave should last longer than a year. I purchased this because of the Oster name, which evidently is no longer any good.
I bought a OSTER microwave from BestBuy witin six months,it blew both of my electric sockets. When i first bought it,it blew my electric fuse. Now it is not working and i want to return m appliance for another one.I had a bad experience with my oster microwave and i am afraid to use it on another socket.
I bought an Oster microwave oven at Best Buy. It stopped working. I called Oster service, who would refund if I cut and mailed the cord, the receipt and filled out a form. I did. When the check did not arrive after the promised 30 days, I tried to contact Oster again, only to find the phone and website were inactive.
