This is an attractive and it works very well. It is a good capacity size. The operation is quick and easy. People that I know have complimented it. I would recommend it to a person looking to purchase a new microwave.

    Reliability

    Reviewed Dec. 25, 2020

I researched, shopped around. Oster has traditionally been reliable with their products. I wanted oven big enough to cook meals in. It works okay, but developed rust all across the back. Company wouldn't repair or replace it. In fact they basically just blew me off, ignored me. It happened during the first 4 months of use. I'd recommend don't buy!

We purchased the Oster Microwave EG034AL7-X1 late 2018. I clean it regularly. It has started throwing sparks-creating a flame bright enough to light up inside causing it to melt the inside. This product is DANGEROUS.

Grilling element bracket popped into three pieces into my cup. Very scary to hear a pop in my microwave and find ceramic pieces from the bracket in my cup. Another unsafe kitchen product. I don’t know what else to say to create 200 characters to explain that the bracket for the element broke inside the microwave and fell into my cup and wasted my coffee, and now I’m concerned that the microwave is not safe to use and I have contacted the company and got the runaround and no one has helped me at all.

My microwave smokes from inside vent when I cook or heat anything. Was told due to it being new sometimes it does. I have to wave door back and forth. Now it is peeling paint under tray. Today I went to heat up water for jello. It sparked. Scared the heck out of me. Wouldn’t shut off so I Pulled plug.

Paint Peeled and rusted in my Oster after a couple of years. There was already rust under the paint as if the metal was rusty before it was painted at the factory. I used steel wool on it and repainted the area with microwave paint but it rusted in other areas such as the interior top.

Microwave was plastic coated over rusty metal. The whole bottom is now rusted and unsafe to use. Did not get even a year's use so will not buy from Oster again. I am a disabled US Marine with a lot of experience fixing things as my income dictates.

We bought this microwave and within 3 months regretted it. First the button broke to open the door, luckily I'm pretty handy so I was able to fix that pretty easily but then another 2 months later it would run after the timer ran down and the only way to shut it off was to unplug it from the outlet. After a week or so of having to unplug this from the wall every time we used it we just replaced it with a different brand. I will never buy anything Oster again, I have learned my lesson the hard way!

I just purchased a Oster 1.4 cu. Ft. microwave not even an hour ago in packed it and found the ring that the glass tray sits on broken. I called Oster customer service just to discover they will not warranty replace it. Their reason was Farm and Fleet is not an authorized seller of their products. They are a third party vendor. Bad business practice Oster. I will NEVER purchase another Oster product.

This oven was a gift from my sister to replace another brand. I was grateful. Like most people here, my oven started out working and was reliable until I noticed it would build up steam inside, rendering the walls, roof and door dripping wet with condensation. The oven was out on the counter with plenty of room for the air to circulate. Within less than a year, I noticed the paint blistering under the turntable and around the door frame. A few months ago, A SENSOR WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS FROM HAPPENING. I opened the door to put in my dinner to cook up and it blew a fuse WITHOUT TURNING IT ON. Replacing the fuse didn't work, resulting in a call to the super. Turned out the oven also damaged the outlet. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER OSTER PRODUCT AGAIN.

Bought this microwave because it was stylish and a good price. I liked the door handle on the front. I don’t like buttons because they wear down. I had this microwave for two years and today I was cleaning and noticed that There was a black hole burns in the bottom of the microwave where the turntable is. I was confused as to how this happened. Read other reviews and it looks as though it was rust. I usually boil water in the microwave to get all the sticky food off the walls of the microwave. Reading other reviews I should have left the door open to air out. Did this with my other microwaves and never had a problem with rusting. Often the clock would stop working. Which was bizarre. Probably won’t buy the same brand again. After just a couple years I am Dishing out money for a new microwave.

Received an Oster Microwave for Christmas three or four years ago. Yesterday while heating a TV dinner I heard a loud pop noise. Took dinner out and noticed a piece of the inside paint down low by the glass tray had come off. I immediately called the 1-800 number on the microwave. They did return my call in a timely manner. The lady rep. said I must have a lot of moisture. That will make the paint bubble and chip on the inside. I am 75 yrs. old and have had a microwave from a different company for years before this Oster was given to me. I think lasting only three or four years is not acceptable. I was told to unplug the microwave and get a new one. That Black Friday was approaching so that is a good thing she said.

I have been buying microwaves since the early 1980s. Within a day I noticed a dark brown spot on bottom of microwave. Then within a day after, the PAINT peeled on the bottom and it was RUST underneath!!! I called them, they offered me half my money back without a receipt. Not good enough, this is more than a piece of junk, this CHINA GARBAGE is not properly made. Instead of microwave safe powder coating that is a 1/4 thick, this company used CHINA'S chemical laden very thin coat of PAINT that has been leaching into OUR FOODS! Now that there is RUST of the bottom, the microwave can spark and blow up! DON'T EVER BUY A SUNBEAM OR OSTER AGAIN! This was NOT cheap either! I can't express how dangerous these are! What kind of hazardous chemicals has been going into my food??!!! It is only obvious since it is a thin coat of China's nasty chemical paint! Wow! Time a class action on OSTER!

After less than 1 month, the "chrome" frame around the door began to separate. We could see where it was supposed to have snapped in place, but you just couldn't get it back in. Eventually we glued it back on, but in less than a month it started to dislodge again. A few months later, I noticed a brownish red line in the lower left corner. I thought someone had spilled something and didn't clean it up. I was wrong - it was rust. Before long, every edge is showing rusty. It looks like it had been used in an old fishing shack - certainly doesn't look good. It started me wondering, if the appliance "box" (don't know what to call the outside frame) is such poor quality, could there be something wrong with the microwave part as well - could it be leaking microwaves and is not safe to use???

I'm a 77-year-old blind veteran and was relocating to a retirement community in North Central Florida in January 2020, the home where I was moving into did not have a microwave so in December before moving I purchased an Oster 1100 Watt microwave. Did not remove the unit from the original container until after relocating.

The first time I used the microwave found out, it did not heat the product evenly. Assumed it might have been due to the product not placed in the exact center of the Lazy Susan, but this was not the case. I habitually have a sausage or a bacon egg & cheese croissant every morning, the 1100-Watt microwave I previously before I relocated cook the item in 1 minute the croissant was cooked perfectly and evenly.

The same product cooked in the Oster microwave requires at least 1 min & sec and leaves part of the Chris croissant uncooked, cold and still partially frozen and overcooks part of the same product. Several weeks ago the 7, 8, & 9-minute timer buttons stopped working. Last week the 4, 5, & 6-minute timer buttons stopped working. Today none of the minute timer buttons work. The signal beeper indicating cook time is complete was beeping every couple of minutes. Tried to plug the unit in on another outlet still does not work. I used to think Oster was a good brand, but I will never purchase another Oster product. I regret buying this product. Please don't waste your money on an Oster product

I have had this Oster 1100 1.6cu for 6 months. It is literally rusting out around the inside door and the bottom crease in the back of the microwave. The microwave retains a lot of moisture once it turns off. Now I leave my door open until it dries out or I wipe it out. I will NEVER buy another OSTER or Hamilton Beach. (My daughter's Hamilton Beach did the same thing. She bought something else.) Not worth emailing the company. I was told they were not sympathetic to their product's rusting. Would like to use different words but they would get deleted
