I do not recommend Milgard. I am now over 2 months into my warranty claim and have made little to no progress. I submitted the initial claim online as instructed. What followed was several requests from Milgard "for more information". I supplied this information to the best of my ability but after the third or so request I finally told the rep that I did not know what all the parts were called, that my door was broken and just needed to be fixed. She told me she would schedule a technician to come to the house, but it wouldn't be until January 2026! I submitted the warranty claim in September 2025.

She said she'd order the parts and have them shipped to the house and I should probably "try and fix it myself, it's not that hard" if I didn't want to wait until next year to have a technician come out. I asked if all parts it could possibly be would be shipped ahead of time, because what I didn't want was to have the technician come out and say I didn't have the correct part to fix the door and we would start this all over again.

She assured me that every part it could possibly be would be shipped. I waited a full month: no parts, no shipping, no communication from Milgard. I call back yet again and the rep said that someone would look into it and I should get an update within a week (!). By their actions, Milgard is demonstrating they do not honor their "lifetime warranty".

Extremely disappointed with Milgard’s warranty support. I purchased their windows and one has been inoperable since installation. Despite multiple attempts, their service team keeps making me repeat the same information without ever confirming a service visit. The process has been frustrating and unhelpful. It’s unacceptable that Milgard won’t stand behind their own product.

Milgard's warranty service is dismal. They don't seem to be able to schedule warranty repair service until MONTHS after you contact them requesting service. The phone rep offered me "a kit" to 'repair the warranty problem myself'. Seriously?!!! How about hiring more technicians to fix your windows? I paid for the windows, including the warranty. I shouldn't be told the faster way to get Milgard's defective product fixed is to DO IT MYSELF. This is an ongoing problem with Milgard. I will NEVER buy Milgard windows ever again.

We did a huge remodel in 2021 which included replacing the windows and doors. We purchased Milgard Casement two wide windows with grids, confident the high cost and reputation of the company would result in high quality windows to last us for many years. Within a month, we started experiencing multiple issues which have continued to increase. At this point, we are looking at having to replace all of them and we won’t be trusting in Milgard again. As of this morning, when a THIRD handle cracked and broke apart from the hinge, we can only open 3 of 8 casement windows after less than 4 years due to fear of serious injury/damage or a total inability to open or close the windows. All are from manufacturing or design defects, not due to the installation or misuse.

This is a huge problem mainly because we do not have air conditioning because opening the windows at night has been successful before now in cooling the house. These include:

    1. Struggle to fully close the final gap requiring pressure.

    2. We can no longer use 3 of the windows for fear the entire pane will break entirely off the metal arm and fall 2 stories down and hit someone/something. This is because the metal arm has drastically bent so much you can see a significant angled gap. (See picture #1 and notice the angled degree of space between the top and bottom). This happened after less than ONE YEAR.

    3. The handle of the crank has simply broken off at the base on THREE windows. The metal just snapped off! (See picture #2 and #3 of 2 broken handles in the last 2 weeks. The first one broke off 3 years ago after one year.)

    4. The screws that attach to the hinges weren’t installed at a 90 degree angle from the manufacturer. This causes the screws to rub against the hinge when closing and every time we do, we worry someday it will cause so much damage, it can no longer be closed. Therefore, we avoid using the windows whenever possible.

    5. The screens are very cheaply made but the attachment design to the window is horrible. They frequently blow completely off if it is windy and have broken things multiple times as they fall. One benefit of being unable to open so many windows is we no longer have this problem. Small comfort.

There are also aesthetic issues which we have learned to live with as a bi-product of decreased quality during COVID. These include gaps between the edges of grids and damaged exterior paint (see pictures 4, 5 and 6). After the third handle broke this morning, I am determined to ensure our experience is shared with as many as possible who are considering spending a significant amount of money on windows that will fail them.

This is what Milgard considers within manufacturing standards. The construction of this window is poor at best, and the welds are broken and uneven. They use a butt weld inched from the corner miter as the person building the window did not have the skill to create the miter correctly. This window cost $4000+ and is at the very entrance to our home. Milgard refuses to warranty this window.

At first our experience with purchasing and getting a date set for 12 plus windows installed was off to a great start. We started this process in February of 2022 and not all the issues were resolved until March of 2023. I can understand delays but the glass in some of the windows kept breaking so those had to be replaced several times and because of that not all of our windows matched and it was the front of my house. Now two years later, three of our white windows have yellow streaks on them. Millard is claiming that it is not covered under warranty because either chemicals were used on the windows or it's from the stucco on the outside of my house. Milgard will not even come out to look at it, they came to that conclusion based on a picture I had to upload online to start a claim process. For what we paid that is outrageous! I will NEVER recommended Milgard to anyone!

Do not order windows from Milgard. I ordered from them during COVID and yes that experience was a nightmare but of course, everything was blamed on Covid. However, I recently needed two more windows for an additional remodel and of course, wanted matching windows so I had no choice but to go to them. I was assured by the local store I ordered through, La Mesa Lumbar, that the lead time was 2 weeks. Placed the order on June 11, 2025 and now all of a sudden, Milgard gives a date of July 8, they have now moved their lead time to 4 weeks after the order was placed.

On July 8th, Milgard notified La Mesa Lumber due to shipping issues the window was lost and then rescheduled to July 16th. The window did arrive today on July 16. However, an additional window was supposed to arrive this Friday, the 18th, but its schedule has now been pushed out a week to next Friday, the 25th. Will it happen? Only who knows but I can tell you that Milgard doesn't have a clue. Unfortunately, this means that everything I had scheduled for my little project has been moved out, my contractor has other jobs and cannot even schedule with me since Milgard's dates cannot be trusted. Save yourself the time and grief, look at the online reviews for Milgard and do not order from them! Find a much more reliable window supplier.

This has happened twice in the last few years. No other locksmith can fix their doors and you will be stuck with an unlocked door. They only have 2 service days in our area, so on Monday 1 hour before they arrived, they cancelled and the only next appointment is Friday. This is unacceptable. I will NEVER buy Milgard again.

I am the original owner of nine Milgard, woodclad picture windows that I purchased in 1999. I also had the other windows in my house replaced with Milgard vinyl, casement windows. Recently, (September) one of my woodclad picture windows shattered. There was no impact or other strike to the window, it just shattered. It now seems that my lifetime warranty is not valid, as I was told by the woman in customer service, after I filled out a service request 6 months ago. I was shocked and disappointed that they would not even address my need to have my window replaced. My window needs to be repaired!! This is a wood-clad product and Milgard is my only option for repair since the window has grids. Shame on Milgard for not honoring their lifetime warranty.

Well, if you are thinking of buying Milgard windows and doors think again. The lifetime warranty for them is a total joke. We purchased the "wood" windows, only to find out that IT IS NOT WOOD!!! It is a veneer. The veneer has lifted from the windows and sliders. When I called and told them that the veneer is pulling away for the stationary part of the window and the edge of the sliders. And the stationary part of the windows is leaking. I was told that I did not maintain the windows and doors. I asked how am I supposed to maintain them other that cleaning the wood, casings and window. He had not answer other than clean them with Pledge. REALLY??? I asked was I supposed to glue the fake wood back to the windows and sliders? He had no answer. DON'T BUY WINDOWS OR SLIDERS FROM THEM. They DO NOT stand by the warranty and their product is very faulty.

Refused service reasons; need more guys, blinds not removed, chandelier not tied back, table not moved. A customer for 18 years and never had these issues. New policies I'm told. The two small reachable windows they did replace, are both scratched! So because the windows are under lifetime warranty, I believe they are making it very difficult on customers and trying to discourage orders.

I had an issue with my Milgard window. The screen does not cover the windows opening correctly. I went to my local hardware store (James Windows and Doors in La Habra) where I purchased my window and window installation. The hardware store ordered two replacement screens; the two replacement screens did not fix the issue with window opening. I took pictures of my windows showing that right side of the window was made crooked to the hardware store and the hardware store advised me to contact Milgard windows warranty. On October 14th I called Milgard warranty support and received the message "please fill out the Warranty request on-line" so I did. The next day I received an automated e-email that a Milgard window technician would reach out to me in 10 or 15 business days.

On November 5 I called Milgard Warranty, and I was able to speak to someone. The Milgard representative told me a Milgard tech would reach out to me by Friday, November 9th. On Tuesday November 6th someone from Milgard called me but when I answered the phone all I could hear was typing. Not knowing who was calling I kept saying "hello" but no answer from the other side of the phone line, so I hung up. On Tuesday I get an automated e-mail asking me to submit another Warranty request form so I did and included the picture and tried to explain the issue with the window be made warped.

So, Friday November 8, l called Milgard warranty support, the warranty support person sent a link so that I could create a video to show her what was wrong with the window. My wife helped with the video, and we uploaded the video to Milgard support. The Milgard support person said "I will show this video to our technician and call you back in half an hour." At that time it was 3:30 P.M.

Milgard Windows is failing to honor its warranty to the original homeowner and refuses to accept responsibility for faulty windows. Milgard instead offers unrelated cosmetic fixes as a solution as they shirk their warranty responsibility and instead blame the homeowner, acts of God, and the installer. As the original homeowner, we are covered under Milgard’s lifetime warranty which includes provisions for the following condition.

Approximately six months ago, we noticed pronounced deformation on window frame corners that are pulling away from the house and leaving gaps between the window and the window frame. In some instances, all four corners of the windows are deformed and pulling towards the exterior of the home leaving cracks 1/2” between the window and the frame. Milgard only offers a replacement glazing bead which is cosmetic in nature and unrelated to the problem.

Milgard blames the installer, building movement, and Phoenix earthquakes and has not found any product defects. An inspection by a home inspector at our expense disproved building movement. The builder of the house inspected the windows and wrote a letter stating no evidence of installation error and no building movement. Milgard ignored both written reports. Milgard inspected the windows and offered no evidence of building movement or any reason for the failure. Milgard cites "possible building movement" for denial w/ no supporting evidence.

Facts: 1. Numerous vinyl windows in high sun areas in a hot desert environment all deforming in the same manner. 2. Vinyl windows are vulnerable to heat deformation and will fail over time. 3. The structure of the house was professionally inspected for settling and none was found. 4. The builder inspected the windows and found no evidence of installation error or building movement. 5. Milgard inspected the windows and found no evidence of installation error or building movement. 6. Milgard denies all responsibility for the failing windows.

I completed the online form regarding the hideous issue (see attached photographs of one window, take from the inside looking out and vice versa) that has developed with 12 of the Milgard windows installed in my house. When I purchased the house in 2017, the owner provided 22 stickers for the Milgard windows and said that they have a lifetime warranty. So I went to the Milgard website and started the process of requesting help. I received a prompt response to the request, which indicated that because I'm not the original owner, the transferable portion of the warranty has expired.

It included a link to a warranty, which states in part, "The Warranty transfers to all subsequent Product owners, and the selling owner should provide this document to a buyer before or at the time of sale." The response also included the name and number of a local dealer who could help me with the non-warranty service of these windows. There is obviously a significant problem with the manufacturing process of Milgard windows.

The low-E film failed and left the windows terribly clouded and discolored. Milgard will only honor the “lifetime warranty” for the original owner, which in our case was the builder. The fact that nearly every single window in our home has failed in the same way suggests a significant manufacturer's defect. I am at a loss why a company that claims to produce best in market windows does not stand behind their products, especially given the ubiquitous failure of their product. If Milgard is willing to work with us to resolve this issue, I will happily update this review. Otherwise, I am interested in hearing if others have experienced the same issues.
