    Liberty Home Guard

Liberty Home Guard is a home warranty company with easy-to-understand service plans in 45 states and Washington D.C. It stands by its service with a 60-day warranty on repairs, and customers can make claims 24/7. Compared with other home warranty companies, Liberty Home Guard has an extensive list of add-on coverage to supplement its service contracts.

    Liberty Home Guard plans

Liberty Home Guard offers three service plans and many add-ons, including pest control and carpet cleaning. Its prices vary by state, home type and home size, but you can expect to pay from about $624.99 to $749.99 per year for coverage.

    • Systems Guard: This plan covers major systems like air conditioning, heating, ductwork, plumbing, electrical and water heater systems.
    • Appliance Guard: This plan covers major appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators, built-in microwaves, dishwashers, garbage disposals, range/oven/cooktops, ceiling/exhaust fans and garage door openers.
    • Total Home Guard: The Total Home Guard plan combines the coverage in the Systems Guard and Appliance Guard plans.

The company also has an extensive list of add-on service coverage:

    • Pool/spa

    • Sump pump
    • Central vacuum
    • Limited roof leak
    • Lighting fixtures

What Liberty Home Guard customers say

Liberty Home Guard has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars on our site. Customers are pleased with the ease of making claims and the caring customer service representatives. They also mentioned qualified technicians who were able to make quick repairs. Unhappy customers are most unsatisfied with the time it takes to review a claim and claim denials for items they believed should be covered.

Liberty’s warranty plan is definitely worth paying for. We closed a deal for our new house 6 months ago and having Liberty’s plan made our lives much easier. ... Rapid, responsible, and caring."

    Nickolas of Orange County, FL

    Fidelity National Home Warranty

Fidelity National Home Warranty’s fees are pretty affordable compared to what other home warranty companies offer, but the company does have mostly unfavorable reviews on our site. Also, the company offers service in just 15 states, so if you move you might not be able to transfer your service. Fidelity National doesn’t offer quotes online, but it does have a toll-free hotline you can call if interested. Something homeowners might appreciate about the company is that its Standard plan covers many items other companies spread over multiple packages with higher price points.

    Fidelity National Home Warranty plans

Fidelity National Home Warranty has just one plan: the Standard plan. Annual costs range from about $350 to $445, which is much lower than other home warranty companies offer. It also offers add-ons for optional coverage.

The Standard plan offers coverage for ovens, smoke detectors, attic and exhaust fans, ranges, hot water pumps, garage door openers, plumbing stoppages, telephone systems,  trash compactors, dishwashers, heating, ductwork, water heaters, plumbing systems, cooktops, electrical systems, bathroom whirlpool pumps, sump pumps, ceiling fans, doorbells, toilets, built-in microwaves and central vacuums.

The company also offers these optional coverages:

    • Pool/spa
    • Washer and dryer
    • Air conditioner
    • Kitchen refrigerator
    • Limited septic leak
    • Roof leak repair

What Fidelity National Home Warranty customers say

Fidelity Home Warranty has only 1.2 out of 5 stars on our site at the time of publishing. Though some reviews mention quick response times, typical criticisms mention unprofessional contractors, problems with reimbursements and poor customer service.

They were quick to respond when my water heater went out and got a plumber out to my home and replace the heater pretty quickly. They also covered most of the cost of replacement. I'd recommend them to friends and family if asked.”

    Kenneth of Wylie, TX

Bottom line: Liberty Home Guard or Fidelity National Home Warranty?

Liberty Home Guard is a well-rated company with extensive service coverage options and coverage throughout most of the country. Fidelity National Home Warranty is a more affordable warranty option for homeowners, but it has mostly poor customer feedback on ConsumerAffairs and doesn’t offer online quotes.

    • Liberty Home Guard is best for those who want comprehensive service plans, extensive add-on coverage and fast service.
    • Fidelity Home Warranty is best for those who live in states it services and who want a more basic and affordable home warranty plan.
