I too purchased all KitchenAid for my new home. The double oven does not regular and overheats. The dishwasher does not clean well and never has, has had to be repaired already. Exhaust vent with microwave does not remove steam from cooking. Stove top has not been bad yet, knock on wood. Side by side Refrigerator what a joke. As other reviews stated the interior was not designed by anyone who works in a kitchen. I had the repair man out to fix my dishwasher and he noticed the frig was making strange noises. What nice guy to even mention it, he stated they were having problems with them, got the frig fixed for free. One year later, upper frig not working. Kitchenaid, Whirlpool, your product sucks. Come from small community but Big family, I am ashamed to state you are an American made company. Will never buy them again! Also fridge is a stainless steel exterior, did not know stainless steel could rust. Consumer beware!

Our Failed Kitchen Aid Refrigerator KFIS29BBMS02 Ser#K35102755 - We purchased this refrigerator January 2013. The ice maker went out right away and was replaced on under warranty. Then in 2016 it fell apart. Another ice maker (Two) more actually, new control panel, new compressor. Service Dealer in Omaha tried to fix it 5 times with new parts and recharge the system. Last repair was 1-3-2017. Sent a letter to KitchenAid & Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha. NFM called back and said they could do nothing since we did not buy extended warranty. KitchenAid did not respond. It went hot again this week and no ice and lost frozen food for the 5th time. DO NOT BUY ANY KITCHENAID REFRIGERATORS! They told my service guy that they know they have a problem but my serial number does not apply. If I ran my company this way we would be broke with no customers. Buyers beware of KitchenAid.

We bought this KitchenAid stainless steel 5-Door French door refrigerator at Best Buy in Nov 2016. After a couple of days of installation, we noticed the freezer frosting, so we went back to Best Buy and requested a replacement. The replacement same model refrigerator was delivered in Dec. In Jan 2017, the same frosting problem occurred. We called Best Buy asking to get it replaced again but told us to call KitchenAid because the purchase date was already over 1 month.
Called KitchenAid and asked them if we can just get the refrigerator replaced or get a refund and told them that I've read a lot of reviews about this refrigerator with freezer frosting and that KitchenAid should have known about this problem already. But KitchenAid customer service lack knowledge. All they know is schedule repairs. From here started the repair process. They've sent this repair people several times (6x) already coming up with different ways to fix the problem but the freezer frosting still persist. This last fix that KitchenAid tech support told the repair people is to replace the door and it will take 4-6 wks to get the part. It is very inconvenient. All I'm asking KitchenAid is give us a refund since it is new so we can get a good working refrigerator. But all they can do is schedule a repair.

Whirlpool/KitchenAid is a terrible company that makes terrible products. Our built-in refrigerator was one month out of warranty when the evaporator stopped working properly. Cool, no problem, we'll just order a new one and get it fixed. That was last October 2016. Flash forward to March 2017, they sent the incorrect part 3 times. Now they say they don't make the part anymore. Their solution?? Buy a new $8000 fridge from them... "Oh, but we'll give you a small discount." What a joke. PLEASE, please do not support or buy anything from KitchenAid. They will turn their back on you when their terrible products inevitably break.

My husband and I recently built a home and purchased the entire KitchenAid Pro suite for our kitchen which included a double oven, microwave, dishwasher, induction stove top and a built in refrigerator. The product was beautiful but after 4 short months of owning the products our induction stove top chipped, the sensor on the double oven failed and now our fridge is no longer cooling. We have taken countless days off of work to have a contractor come out to fix the appliances but we have come to the final straw with the fridge. Two weeks, two contractors and two refrigerator parts later we still do not have a fridge.
My husband has called KitchenAid numerous times and the customer service is absolutely terrible. You call and wait on hold for a good 20-30 minutes then once you receive a customer support specialist, they tell you to call a nearby contractor and make an appointment. Better yet, the contractor comes out and has to order the part which takes a week and you have to take another day off of work because they dont work weekends.
With all of the troubles we have faced with KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances, I would not recommend their products let alone the company. We spent a lot of money on their products and yet we sit here for over two weeks waiting for a part to figure out if that will even fix the built in fridge. Whirlpool is a multi million dollar company and we have to wait to receive a new fridge until the contractor can determine it cannot be fixed, just a great use of our money and time.

I have owned the KBFS22EWMS model (French doors, bottom freezer) for almost five years. In the first year or so, I noticed water on my floor by the refrigerator. I then discovered that on the floor of the freezer was a thick sheet of ice that had been obscured by the contents of the freezer baskets. The repairman came out, and quite quickly fixed it. He had repaired many with this issue. In fact, a part arrived in the mail prior to his visit. The problem? A small valve or nipple that is the wrong design for the refrigerator. The repairman told me KitchenAid/Whirlpool was aware of the problem, but continued to manufacture the refrigerators using the wrong part. Stupid? I'd say so. I haven't had any functional problems with the refrigerator since, but the parts are cheaply made, the crisper drawers can be pulled out only half way, and be careful in removing the grille to clean the condenser coils - a piece will snap off in a heartbeat. Otherwise, it's great!

We bought a brand new, 48" built-in refrigerator kssc48qts02 in Aug. 2008. Two years ago the electronic motherboard had to be replaced to the tune of almost $1000. Now our thru-the-door water dispenser is leaking. Had 2 different companies look at it with the same diagnosis... 1). The water line is broken 2.) There is no way to repair the line as it is built into the freezer door 3.) The freezer door needs to be replaced 4.) THEY NO LONGER MAKE THE FREEZER DOOR!!! Come on KitchenAid, you used to make good products. What happened? The refrigerator is only 8 years old and was very expensive to begin with. Another thousand in repairs. Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator in Jan. 2013 for 2,500. Fast forward to Feb 2017, freezer defrosts food overnight. Freezer full of food lost. Next fridge no longer cooling. Call local appliance repair company. Comes out same day! Informs me he is unable to repair issue and advises that it is a recall issue and provides me all recall info.
Well, calling Whirlpool customer service was the worst customer service I have ever received. After 2 calls and 2 hours later, finally got an appointment booked for a tech to come repair issue, but was told this repair would be at my expense as Whirlpool disputes the fact that this is a recall, even though I had the service point number quoted to me by a qualified repair technician. Regardless refrigerator needed repair. Was told I would receive call from agent evening before appointment date. No call. Appointment window I was given was 9am-5pm, by 2pm not even a phone call yet.
Called CS line again and was advised no tech would be coming out to my home. No sympathy at all from any agent I dealt with, in fact, found them all to be extremely rude!! Next available appointment not for one full week. Was told they will not provide any compensation! Worst experience ever. Will NEVER recommend KitchenAid to anyone nor will I ever purchase another KitchenAid appliance in the future. So disappointing.

I love that it has a water spout on the inside, leaving the exterior clean without the typical water/ice dispenser eyesore. Also leaves less room for broken parts to be fixed. 8 months of ownership so far and the only thing we had to change was the water pressure on the spout. Very easy.

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator in 2013. It was on clearance at Lowe's. Now I know why it was a great deal, because they have problems with them. As I read the reviews from other consumers, we have the same exact problem with the freezer. It leaks water and freezes on the tray after 1 year. We have to break up the ice and empty it out every two weeks. The ice maker quit making ice after three years and now I just shut off the ice maker. My husband bought me a KitchenAid mixer for Christmas 2015 and after a year of sitting on the counter I decided to use it. It literally Sucks. I have had my Sunbeam Mixer for over 15 years, I'm still happy to use it. I will never buy KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Amana Product again.

KFIS27CXWH2 - We purchased this French door style/bottom freezer style from ABT Electronics in July 2011. Within two years we had leaking under freezer under our wooden floors. We called one serviceman who couldn't detect the issue. Called ABT and they were out approximately 12 times to finally resolve the issue by installing a heater unit in ice maker which happens to be located in the upper left side of the ceiling inside refrigerator.
Never again will I purchase a unit with an ice maker in unit vs. freezer. Just after a year and parts warranty expiration - it began leaking again and thankfully I was home to avoid a real disaster and could turn off water. Yet another serviceman was out 2 days again who left stating he couldn't find anything wrong with ice maker. As of today water is not running into ice maker although we do have water in the dispenser on outside door of unit. Has anyone else had this model who has experienced the same issue? Every time I decide to replace the unit - I want to try one more time to remedy this problem.

I purchased my first extended warranty with hesitation. Just four months into the contract I called for a repair. AIG is provider of the insurance coverage. AIG will make up ANY excuse not to pay any repairs especially if over and beyond their contract price which by the way I paid $500 for the extended warranty. NOW I am out the $500 PLUS the repair costs!!! HINT: NEVER turn off your appliance. If you do and the appliance does not work correctly when turned back on, this is considered pre-existing and AIG will not cover the repair. ANY REPAIR even though you have parts that have been replaced that broke down in 4 months after replacement and should have a one year warranty coverage! Also AIG claims you have a 45-day window to make a claim otherwise they will not cover and claim pre-existing!! And worst of all this is not even written on the contract anywhere. I'll NEVER buy an extended warranty again, especially if AIG is involved

The refrigerator is on the expensive side but has a beautiful style. I also love the two extra drawers for drinks and produce. Ice maker components are metal not plastic like other refrigerators so it is much better for crushing ice and less likely to break. Plus ice maker is on the door so it doesn't take up space on the shelf of refrigerator. However, fingerprints are a problem and there's not enough storage space on the doors.

I have owned this refrigerator (Kitchen Air refrigerator model #KFCS22EVMS2) for almost 4 years and it continually has had problems (e.g., seals around doors deteriorating). Before this I owned a SubZero for over 10 years and never had any problems whatsoever. If there had been room in my current house I would own a SubZero again. So I purchased what I hoped would be a fine quality refrigerator (the KitchenAid) to discover it is badly built with poor quality components. The question is, are there appliances that truly are quality built that are within the financial capability of the majority of people?

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2012 for $$$. So you know I had a Kenmore for 22 years that this KitchenAid was replacing and I actually sold the Kenmore for $50 because it still worked perfectly. I figured KitchenAid was a top of the line appliance. Ice maker went out within 13 months and after several calls I got them to cover parts and labor to fix it, but that's not the complaint here. Fast forward to 2016. In May 2016 the whole unit shut down and after several calls into CS found out it was my sealed system that went out and it was covered. It took a while to get my money back though. The day before Christmas 2016 my refrigerator went out.
Long story short, I called the authorized KA service provider to come back out and they told me it would $450 to repair (again, 3rd major repair in 4 1/2 years while the 2nd major repair in 2016). After receiving the estimate I called KitchenAid CS to talk to them about this but their systems were down and couldn't help me and told me to call back the next day. Not thinking because I had a house full of kids on Christmas break from college I figured I would call back once I got back to work this week. Once I got a hold of someone from KA she told me KA would cover the parts only which I was ok with. She told me she would call the authorized repair company and get it worked out.
I told her I already had it repaired because I had gone a week without a refrigerator anyway. KitchenAid won't reimburse a customer, just an authorized repair company. What a piece of ** company. Every time I contact KA they tell me the same thing. Appliances are meant to last forever and they never promised me that. I have another 20 year old GE refrigerator in my garage that's worked perfectly that whole time and I spent like $500 on it. This was my first and MY LAST KitchenAid/Whirlpool purchase.

I have an unusual space to fit a fridge into. The KitchenAid was the only one that I could find that would fit. It turned out to be a great value and look great as well and I'm very pleased. The interior space for a rather short fridge is awesome. The inside is very easy to keep clean and cleaning is not a favorite pastime. The stainless steel is easy to take care of and I would buy this brand again even if I was not looking for a "hobbit" of a fridge.

We bought our KitchenAid refrigerator in late 2013. Luckily we did purchase the extended warranty, something we didn't typically do. When we were first married it seemed like we could count on a refrigerator lasting fifteen years or so, not anymore. Two years into it we started having problems. It wasn't producing enough ice, started leaking water on the floor when freezer items began to thaw. When I called the place where we bought the refrigerator (Hills Flat Lumber, Grass Valley, CA), all I got was "you'll have to find your warranty and call them". I was in the midst of a family health crisis at the time, so it was extremely frustrating. I found the warranty and took care of all that. The refrigerator was back to working.
About a month ago it started demonstrating all the same problems as before. Right before the holidays! Even though we had the warranty, it took awhile to get anyone out, and then two weeks longer for the parts. I was without a refrigerator over the Christmas holidays. Luckily the garage has been cold, so I have been storing my food out there. I finally had the guy out to fix it a couple of days ago. I called them back today to let them know that the freezer isn't the least bit cold. So... About a month without a working refrigerator. It is pretty frustrating. I've always thought KitchenAid was a good product. I still use my KitchenAid mixer that I got as a wedding gift 33 years ago. But I think the refrigerator is a LEMON!

The shelving inside is pitiful. I remember when you bought a refrigerator all the shelves were made to be used and were included in the cost of it. Nowadays, that is not the case. Not realizing this, three of the shelves on the door side are not usable. These are considered "extra" and are not part of the purchase. I was dumb founded when I noticed that the brackets for these shelves were not included with the refrigerator when it was delivered. I was not told these were extra since the floor model DID have these shelves set up with brackets and all!!

I purchased a five-door KitchenAid refrigerator model number KRMF706ESSOO that was delivered 9/23/16. The refrigerator's top right-hand door had rust on it & the ice maker did not worked at delivery nor the day after. The ice maker has been replaced 4 times and the water valve 3 times. Today is December 22nd 2016 and after seven attempts of the service techs that Whirlpool sent to make the repairs so that we can have ice we still have no ice. Because the water has always leaking out of the Chute of the ice makers, that they keep replacing and the water valves that they keep replacing won't seal at all where the two grommets are located the water continually leaks out around the grommets and tubes that supply water for drinking and ice for the ice maker.
I have to keep towels inside my refrigerator to collect to the water that comes through the vent holes and drips on the shelves inside the refrigerator or choose to turn the water off completely to the refrigerator. Therefore not being able to have filtered water (because of the seriousness of the defects we turned the water off today to the refrigerator). The repairman had to replace the electronic control board on the drawer that has the temperature selection for your meats, cheese, etcetera because the water linkage shorted out the control panel. The water leakage at the top is so heavy that the 4 light panels were fill with water. Today when the technician took the panel off, it took three full-size bath towels to clean up the water mess. My husband and I are exhausted worrying about the refrigerator electrically shorting out.
We feel like KitchenAid company is guilty of neglect & have a defective product and unsatisfactory service technicians that they have certified and require you to use. The tech today a new company that repairs refrigerators (not the company that KitchenAid originally schedule the repairs & said that we had to use) told us that there is a manufacturer defect & there's a aftermarket kit that has to be put on this model refrigerator in order for the ice maker to work and make ice and prevent the water from leaking out of the front of the ice maker. First of all they have to put a defrost element on our ice maker!!! Can you believe that? When the tech took the back of the refrigerator off there was solid wall of ice so now we have to have a defroster on the icemaker.
Next the temperature has to be below 37 degrees in order for the ice maker to work; therefore, and aftermarket installation add-on kit to keep the cold air inside the refrigerator compartment has to be ordered and installed. The repair technician showed us at the back of the refrigerator where the cold air is leaking out at the back of the refrigerator that we never noticed before or would have considered a manufacture defect and design flaw; we were just dumbfounded at the amount of air leakage out of the refrigerator compartment to the outside of the refrigerator. There should be a class action suit against this FOR PROFIT (in my personal opinion only) driven company that would put their customers /consumers through this. Greed is rampant. We've spoken with the supervisor at KitchenAid (after not getting any satisfaction from the call center customer complaint center).
We were told that KitchenAid makes NO lemons NOR defective products. KitchenAid MAY be in complete denial or must have a phone script that they are required to read from. They voice record every conversation for their benefit. To collect all the facts and then deliver the same tired phrases "We're not going to do anything other than to replace parts." The food that I have lost they're not replacing. The seven or eight days of missed work (that I didn't get paid for) too bad there's no compensation. The time I've spent complaining taking pictures and documenting the neglect and defects and telling them has been in vain because they keep saying your only option is for us to keep sending repairmen and replacing parts; we're sorry you're having a problem.
Well if you're sorry make a decent product that people do not have to go through hell after they've spent a fortune purchasing their brand refrigerator. My money is now in KitchenAid pocket and they refused to replace my lemon refrigerator nor give me customer satisfaction thus far. I will have to keep taking off work and work with repairmen unless I resort to hire an attorney to save myself time and aggravation. I've asked them to give me a new refrigerator and they won't do it.

Background: Purchased $6500 of appliances in November of 2010. Refrigerator, Oven/Cooktop combo, Dishwasher, and cabinet mounted Microwave. The only one we've not had issues with is the Microwave. Let's work in the order they are listed: 1> Refrigerator, YEAR 2 >> Freezer door would not properly close. 2 service calls later issue "fixed". YEAR 5 >> Out of Warranty. Defroster drain line plugged with ice leaving the interior of the freezer coated in ice and the automatic defroster in operable. Went online, researched the issue and cleared the blockage after two hours of work. Year 6 >> Louder than usual noise when compressor running.
Called my Appliance Technician, of thirty Years. Diagnosis issue as one or more bad springs in the compressor, allowing compressor rotor to contact the compressor housing. Contacted KitchenAid, explained the issue. Set up an appointment for the AM, two days later. Next day received phone call from the assigned Appliance Repair service saying they had an appointment scheduled for the PM next day. I explained I was told the appointment was for AM. They said no. They made it for the PM. Okay, right hand doesn't know what the left hand's doing.
Was also informed there would be a $109.00 service fee for coming out to diagnose the problem. Told them what my Technician had diagnosed. Said they would have to look at it. I asked how much the repair would be if it was compressor. They told me it would be a flat fee and wouldn't be able to quote me an estimate until THEY diagnosed the problem. I asked if the service call fee would be applied to the cost of the labor. They said no, it would be in addition to the labor.
Called KitchenAid again. Asked if the parts could be sent to my Appliance Repair Technician? They said no, they could only be sent to a certified Appliance repair shop. KitchenAid's definition of a certified shop is one that has a contract with them. Anyway. No other options, called Payless Appliance back and kept the appointment.
Technician arrives, listens for the noise, He said the compressor was running and the only noise he could hear was coming from flap/door that allowed Freezer air into the Refrigerator to keep the Refrigerator at the correct temperature. I told him that the noise he was hearing was not the same rattling I would hear when the compressor was running. He said the compressor was running and that was the only noise coming from the unit. During the diagnosis process the Technician opens the Freezer drawer and says it's not adjusted properly, and that's most likely what's causing the ice build up in the freezer. He adjusted the drawer. $109.00 later, Freezer drawer is more difficult to open and close and the noise is still there. I inquired if there would be another service call fee when the noise returned. He said, yes, there probably would be since the only thing he could hear was that door/flap noise.
Dishwasher: Year 4 > Out Of Warranty. Control Panel starts flashing codes. Called my usual Appliance Tech. He diagnosed the issue as a defective heating coil. Ordered the part and called me when it arrived and was able install it the same. When I ask for a bill, He quoted me the cost and told me to use the Dishwasher for few days to make sure that took care of the issue.
Oven: Year 1 >> Under Warranty. Cooking dinner, and the oven starting flashing an over heat error message. Attempted to the oven off, but no controls worked. Checked the trouble shooting section of the owners manual and still nothing worked. Not sure if the oven was still on, I shut off the power at the circuit breaker, waited an hour and turned the power back on. Unknown what the issue was but it has not happened again. Bottom line: $6500.00 worth of Appliances and only one of four has been without issues. Will never purchase another KitchenAid, Whirlpool or any other Appliance made by that group.

Spent $3200+ on a KitchenAid Refrigerator model KRMF606ESS00 about a year ago. We've had nothing but problems since we got it. The ice/water dispenser would stick "open" and we'd end up with water and ice on the floor. The tech that came out to fix it said that there's a known "delay" between the ice/water paddle dispenser and the computer that tells the refrigerator to dispense the water. He did replace the unit because it was sticking as well as the delay. This helped. Would have been nice to know this before ordering the refrigerator. Shortly after that was fixed we noticed that our food was spoiling prematurely and the refrigerator seemed warm. I bought a thermometer and found out that the inside of the refrigerator was around 46-48 degrees when it was set to 33. This time the tech that came out said that the paddles weren't opening to allow cold air into the refrigerator. Fine.
Ordered a part that came in in a few days and installed it. The tech cleaned out pounds of ice that had built up in the back of the unit between the fridge and the freezer when he installed this part. Because of this, all seemed well for a week or 2 until the thermometer started climbing up again. However, this did not fix the problem. This time the tech that came out said it was a gas solenoid that needed to be ordered - something about the coolant not distributing properly between the freezer and fridge. He said it would be a few days to order the part. Five days later I call the repair people again and they said they had to order the part from the manufacturer and it would still be another week or 2. Um HELLO we have spoiled food here and it is the week before Christmas. "Nothing we can do ma'am. We can overnight the part for $100. Call the manufacturer to see if they can do anything."
Called the manufacturer WHIRLPOOL who proceeded tell me that there's nothing they could do - they got the order for the part - it IS IN STOCK but they haven't shipped it yet. Now we are out $1000 of Thanksgiving food for 18 people at my house and KitchenAid/Whirlpool offered $100 for the inconvenience, right!! I spent over 2 hours on hold waiting to talk to someone who could actually do something and when I finally was able to speak to someone they were of no help (Tim #**). Regarding our 42" side by side built-in fridge. After some years it starting making some serious loud noises. Finally the fridge gave out. Repairman said he thought the motherboard had gone. OK, fair enough... just order another motherboard, right? My repairman could not find a motherboard in Canada or in the USA. It had to be order through Kitchenaid... but no problem, right?? The company is American, right??? Not so fast.
The initial timeline was 4 weeks (which is bad enough) but in the end IT WAS 4 MONTHS!!! During this time I called Kitchenaid more than once to find out where my motherboard was. They could not, or would not give me a straight answer as to any timeline to expect it. My thinking was that it was somewhere in China being created. Thank God we had another fridge in the garage but I have learned my lesson. NEVER, NEVER never will I purchase another Whirlpool product ever again!!! I have submitted several reviews of my 3-year old KitchenAid 29CF refrigerator before. It seems on every anniversary of its purchase it breaks down in some manner. Previously, it conked out twice when control boards failed, once when the condenser developed leaks, again when the water valve cracked and did $20,000 damage to our kitchen and now, again on an anniversary, the damn ice maker has failed. I will not say anything more than DO NOT EVER BUY ANOTHER KITCHENAID APPLIANCE! We purchased this KitchenAid Household Ref. from Lowe's. 4 1/2 months of owning it there started a loud clicking noise from the back of the unit, ice built up in the veggie drawer that it couldn't shut, and water from the left side of the ref. dripping down into the two shelving parts. Once the door is open along the way the water runs out onto my floor. On the way to close MORE water runs onto the floor and then down the front of the freezer that is on the bottom. Since the issue we have had KitchenAid's preferred service AAA out of Howell MI come out for 3 different service calls. Each time I am told, "The problem is fixed and you will have no more water leaking." I have white water stains in my trays and the stain on the front of the ref. due to the leaks and sitting water.
After calling again today because it is STILL leaking I spoke with Melinda (Customer Service) with all she could offer me was at first a service call at my cost then returned with a no cost, I spoke to Tim (Supervisor for KitchenAid Tennessee office) who explained there was not a thing anyone could to but another service call. Who is going to pay for ANOTHER day off of work? This will be the 4th time I have had to take a day off of work for repairs to this refrigerator. A consumer should NOT have to clean up a water mess every time the unit is opened and the water streak down the front is not appealing. This is obviously an issue with the unit. I asked for the unit to be exchanged with the SAME unit and I was told that "You would be eligible for a replacement at a discounted price." Are you serious? I already paid the full price for this unit.
Something has to be done to not allow consumers to be buying nonworking items and costing more than the unit itself. I have bought many KitchenAid items and I will never buy again since this incident. The do not stand by the product but keep sending service people who either can't fix the problem or the problem is simply NOT fixable.

I could go into what I've experience but it all boils down to what the many repairmen coming out have all said. DO NOT BUY Whirlpool fridges (KitchenAid is under the Whirlpool umbrella). They went to a dual condenser design and it's a complete fail. I have an older KitchenAid and love it. So I shelled out $2200.00 for a new one. It's a complete LEMON as per the techs, Whirlpool fridges have a bad design. Essentially, if owning one of these LEMONS now, you'll have to old time defrost it every year to keep it working.

The back of the freezer will freeze up, makes this running noise that sounds like a motor is running and the upper refrigerator isn't as cold as it should be. I purchased a Refrigerator/Freezer in 2012 for my cottage from a local dealer. Over the last year Ice has built up in the freezer floor and then there is water leakage. I would get rid of the ice build up and then no leakage for a short time and then it would start all over again. In the meantime the floor and side wall of the kitchen which housed the fridge became damaged. I called the dealer and they tried to give some things to do which did not work. Eventually we got the dealer out and they came with a new valve and installed a "P trap" drain tube. Apparently Whirlpool have known of this problem and never let any of their consumers know.
As we are on an Island it cost us a lot of money to get a repairman out to replace this piece. I called Whirlpool and they did not want to discuss it and dissuade they could have sent me a replacement but would not pay for the cost of the work to replace the valve even though they knew for years that there was a problem with this part. I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator with French doors and a bottom freezer compartment for about $2,600 in July of 2013. By mid-2016, we began to experience problems with the refrigerator. There was water leaking onto the floor after water had filled the tray at the bottom of the refrigerator and had frozen. A certified KitchenAid repair person replaced the defective part. The repair person was very familiar with the problem as the company had replaced quite a number of these. KitchenAid supplied the part free of charge because of the frequency of this problem. There was a "service" charge of $125.00 and a "labor" charge of $89.00, bringing the total to $214.00.
Within two months, we had another problem, this one with the ice maker. The KitchenAid recommended company sent its technician out again. This time the bill totaled $335-$125 service, $129 labor, $75 new ice maker, and $6.37 tax. We had given the service provider the exact make, model, and description of the problem. Again, they were very familiar with the problem, but sent a technician out who did not have the part on the truck! He is scheduled to return after the weekend.
Frankly, after reading others' reviews on this site, I have to agree that I would not buy a KitchenAid product again. Why should anybody be shelling out over $500 for parts and labor on a three year old, high end, appliance? Our last KitchenAid refrigerator, which we left at our former residence, was 17 years old and had never required service of any kind. KitchenAid is apparently not interested in providing a quality product, though we're paying for one and, according to the reviews on this site, KitchenAid is not interested in providing good customer service. I'm frustrated with this refrigerator, which never produced ice as well as my old KitchenAid. I'm frustrated with the certified KitchenAid repair company, and I'm not willing to become frustrated by contacting customer service because all these reviews have all made it clear that it would be a waste of my time.

Wish we had waited a yr or purchased something else. Our inbuilt microwave died in the first six months. It took over 90 days for Kitchenaid to get us a new one and man what attitude with these folks when you called to see why it was taking so long.
Based on the interaction on the Microwave, and all of the comments I read about Whirlpools lack of responsiveness to customer complaints, we are buying a new refrigerator tomorrow, very likely Samsung (we have their top of the line washer - dryer combo and they run flawlessly) and 7 of their HDTV's throughout the house. What we aren't doing, is ever buying another Whirlpool or Kitchenaid product. And Kitchenaid is supposed to be the high-end model.
I strongly suggest you do thorough research before buying a major appliance even it it means breaking up a set or same brand in your home. I kept the refrigerator for a few days until the next delivery. The new equipment started making unusual noise. We contacted KitchenAid again who sent a technician who did not find any problem according to him "The sound is normal". Another technician was contacted since the freezer started making ice on one side not the other. He came to fix the issue, but resulted in burning the appliance for which we have evidenced of in pictures. According to him, the problem was fixed but a bigger damage was created on the lateral side of the fridge. The problem was reported to KitchenAid, who told me that another technician would be sent from another company.
The last technician came, saw the unit and said "that the problem could be resolved with an add on kit based on what KitchenAid told him because those units had several recalls and complaints for the same issue". The technician came with the accessory and this kit is not for this unit 2016. The kit is a fan that is located in the ice maker which is located at the top, not in the freezer where is the biggest problem, and the tech found more problems, filtration and dripping water in the drawers of vegetables. That waste of time and lack of knowledge and effectiveness by the representative of KitchenAid. I want a new unit or my full monetary refund. I've had the unit only for three months and it is unacceptable. I have pictures of how I received the unit and the damages made by the technicians. So disappointed. Worst fridge I've ever had, at any price. It's runs so loud that it sounds like a machine gun. Seriously, it wakes me up. In addition, after only two years the ice maker broke. It's only got a one year warranty. I replaced it, and one year, ten days later, it started leaking, so my ice container constantly has a big block of unusable ice in it that I have to break up and throw out. I'm not spending $300 annually to replace the ice maker, so I shut the thing off. I've been making cubes in my $500 fridge/freezer that's in my garage. Kitchenaid obviously knows it's an inferior ice maker, or they would warrantyit longer than one year. It's a piece of junk. Never again.

Good luck... you call customer service and they say "OH. I am so sorry about your food." We paid $2600.00 for this experience and still having issues and KitchenAid does not care!!! In July of 2014, we bought a KitchenAid fridge with all the bells and whistles. French Door with the ice bin in the fridge door, electronic control of temp in wine drawer, 3 pull out trays in freezer and so on. We paid $3299.99 and it was by far the worst purchase I have ever made. 2 weeks after it was delivered I awoke to my kitchen floor covered in water. The water was dripping out of the LED lights in the fridge. I called to have a tech come out and they came 3 days later and changed 2 parts then said it would be fine. 3 hours later, it started leaking water again. I called and another tech came out 5 days later and did some adjustments then left. The next day, I woke to more water on the floor. Tech came again 6 days later changed a few parts. 6 hours later, water all over the floor.
It took 7 technicians to finally fix the problem. I thought it must have just been a freak thing and surely everything will be fine now. 3 months later, my fridge wasn't staying cold. All the milk products were spoiled and I had just went shopping the day before. I called to have it serviced. Took 9 days for a tech to come out and they changed the seal. The following day still not cold. I called again waited 5 days for a tech and they changed the computer. All fixed again. 4 months later my freezer quit working. Again, it took 2 calls and 2 weeks to get it fixed.
Well, I am on the last straw, my freezer quit working again yesterday. I called for a tech and I have to wait till next Thursday (8 days) for someone to show up. I told them I don't even want the fridge anymore, it is unreliable. They told me that if it had 4 or more problems in a 12 month period they would replace it but since they have been spread out over the past 20 months they will not. So here we go again.
I thought KitchenAid was a great name brand. They make great mixers and other small appliances I can't go wrong. WRONG!!! They know what they are doing with small appliances but their large appliances are cheaply made and use the cheapest parts that always seem to fail. Stay clear of their refrigerators. In less than 2 years I have had 11 technicians out and the 12th is coming next Thursday. I have had 8 parts replaced so far and have lost who knows how much money in food spoilage. If they really stood behind their product they would have by now replaced the fridge.

We bought a 29 cu. ft. French Door stainless refrigerator model KFIV29PCMS in 2013. We had repairmen out three years in a row. Each time required several visits. The air tower, ice maker evaporator fan, two fresh food evaporators, valves, a compressor, and a UIn were all replaced. We were out of a refrigerator for 18 days one time and over a week this last time. On one visit they sent a repairman out only to say that he couldn't fix it as it is a "closed" system. Every time it's something different. We have had frost on the top left shelves with water leaking into them, water coming out of the ice dispenser, ice building up on the freezer drawers, water on the floor, and it just quit working. Although we had insurance, it only paid $300 for spoiled food. We have lost more than that.
It is always so inconvenient to schedule time for them to come, then reschedule when the part finally comes in. I have complained to Good Deals where we bought it. I don't think they should sell appliances with so many problems. I complained to KitchenAid but all they did was take my complaint. Needless to say I have complained to the repair place,Gulf Appliance. My old Sears refrigerator lasted 26 years without even a service call, and it was a fifth of the cost. I can't believe a company cannot do a better job making an appliance. Did they even test them before putting them on the market? Apparently not. I will never buy another KA fridge again. Our microwave, stove, and oven are all ok but I wonder if they too will go out soon.

Now the cold temp was lost in the refrig completely and they said it needs a new computer board. I've been waiting for almost three weeks for the part etc and have no refrigerator at all. It was defrosted and plugged in again but has not gone past 6 degrees. I have lost a lot of money in food and KitchenAid will not reimburse. KFIV29PCMS00 - We got that fridge on January 2014 - so it's 2 years and 4 months. The icemaker has never been performant - slow to make ice, but we're not using it much so we didn't complained. About a year after we noticed iced was starting to build at the back of the top cabinet near the ice maker. We phone to KitchenAid and were told it was normal and to not worry about since the performance was the same. Yet 2 weeks ago we found all the ice was melting - cubes were soft and wet. We turned it off, but the next day we found the freezer was also melting, then all the refrigerator was not providing cold air at all. Called KitchenAid, the clerk is telling me nothing I've said is under warranty. Then I told her ''Have you ever heard about Legal Warranty'', and 30 secs later she came back and told me I will have nothing to pay.
2 days later, the tech finally came in and said, the second evaporator had a leak so all the coolant leaked out and he had to replace it and also replace all the ice cube mechanism. A week later he comes back with all the parts to do the repair, but then as he opened the back cabinet he found it was filled with stains and black mold. All that comes from the water leaking from the ice maker, dripping inside the fridge and accumulating, then evaporating (from the anti-ice). So we were unaware of that water accumulating inside the cabinet (not accessible) and gradually forming mold (black mold and worst).
Now my kitchen is full with refrigerator parts everywhere. The tech has gone as he doesn't want to work on the ''rotten'' refrigerator, and I'm being ping pong at KitchenAid service and no one is telling me what to do and what will happened. The tech told me the cabinet cannot be replaced and cleaning all that mold is almost impossible. In other words he can only think about replacing the fridge altogether but KitchenAid is not responding. We paid high $$ (almost $3k) thinking we would be free of such problems, but we're ending up with that situation after only 2 years. The previous fridge lasted 18 years and never had any issue before 17 years, and the one before that was second hand and lasted 20 years. I'm pretty mad and discourage.

The warranty had just run out and KitchenAid was good enough to repair that under warranty.
Yesterday, 14 months old $975.00 dishwasher would not quit running. We called, were told to turn off / check circuit breaker. We did. That didn't fix it. I am very upset. I cried this weekend because I really, really wanted to have Easter breakfast and dinner at home. I am done eating out. This has been going on for 2 weeks and we are all tired of eating out for a family of 5. This has become a serious financial hardship. We've had to take 2 days off of work and now a 3rd without being compensated. We've lost almost $1000 worth of spoiled food. The repairman said on the 18th during the 1st service call, the manufacturer would overnight the product because they considered it an emergency.
It took the manufacturer 7 days for the part to be shipped and for a repair man to come out to attempt fixing the refrigerator. The repair was attempted on Friday the 25th so we had to wait the weekend to hear back from anyone about the refrigerator still being broken. Because the refrigerator did not getting fixed, my wood floors have had water saturate them. Overnight the ice maker kept trying to make ice and flooded the kitchen.
We won't take the risk of losing another $1000 worth of food cause it's not fix correctly again. The service tech told us it's rare for the compressor to go out and it should last forever. We want a quality replacement refrigerator. This is a lemon. We have receipts showing we went food shopping a few days prior to this FIASCO and we have many other receipts showing groceries purchased that needed refrigeration. It seems like KitchenAid is willing to gamble with us replacing all our food and condiments because they will not guarantee replacing my food if it doesn't get fixed correctly again. We can NOT sit around and take another vacation day to wait for your repair man to arrive, we're losing a lot of money. Will KitchenAid/Whirlpool lemon this refrigerator on today's service call or is this going to be a major battle?

I purchased it from a company called Trail Appliances. It made a loud noise from day one. They attempted to fix it, it started again, too loud to sleep. They came again and when they left it started again. I asked them to take it away. I did not want a KitchenAid. They would not do that. They did an in-apartment surgery on it that took two hours and replaced the generator. The noise stopped. It is still loud but not screeching loud. But now the bottom drawer freezer just turns off. It has ruined food a number of times. Ice cream...forget it. Ice cubes, meat..defrosts to the point where it either has to be thrown out or cooked immediately.
I hate this appliance. I tell everyone I know not to buy KitchenAid. I have a Miele dishwasher, an LG gas convection stove and a Breville convection counter oven. They all work. KitchenAid sucks. We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, even a toaster oven). It has been a "disaster" since day one. The doors have never aligned correctly (as seen reviewed before) and the ice maker stopped working early on and water ran and ruined my wood floor (as reviewed before). But, the main problem is with the coils in the refrigerator that consistently ice up, allowing no air flow, therefore no cooling (which has been reviewed before). Obviously, this leads to spoiling food, which we have replaced numerous times due to the problem. Now, we keep a thermometer in it at all times, so once we see it start getting warmer, we have to take apart the refrigerator to defrost the ice that has covered the coils. We have had this problem serviced four or five times. Each time replacing various parts... the last time pretty much replacing EVERYTHING INTERNALLY.
The service techs admit this is a problem, due to the "dual compressor" KitchenAid tried to do with this model. Even store salespeople admit it didn't work and has been changed. Well, enough is enough. I want a new refrigerator, not a replacement, not any more service calls. But, I have been told that I need to "wait until it fails again, then call customer service again to report the problem." Someone will have to come out again and assess the problem... Should I just leave the rancid food in there for them to take back to KitchenAid with them once they come? Come on KitchenAid... read the file. It's all there in black and white... every single service call. Time to fess up and fix the problem, with a NEW refrigerator.

We are on our 2nd KA French door, bottom freezer refrigerator (KFIS29BBWH). It was delivered 3/2013 as a replacement for a LEMON of the same design (KFIS27CXWH) that was purchased 10/2010. Thankfully, we purchased 5 year warranties for each one. Between the two refrigerators, we've had over 25 tech visits. Both units had complete failure of the evaporators and fans, more than once! Lost a lot of food, but the warranty company paid us $200 to cover (we submitted only twice, should have done it with each malfunction). Multiple other internal parts failed, including a cracked 2" plastic tube that runs from the water line to the ice maker. Each time a new part was installed, I looked for its place of manufacture. No surprise... Never from the USA (Mexico, South Korea, China).
From researching all brands of this new dual evaporator/French door bottom freezer, it is clear that these units are not fit to be on the US market. Faulty design? Faulty technology? Many say they are made in America, but most of the internal parts are made outside of this country and are installed in American factories. Recommendation: Don't purchase these types of refrigerators. Yes, they have a nice, updated look, but history shows they are nothing but a headache to the consumer. I'm returning to the old style, side by side with just one evaporator. So what that it isn't as "energy efficient". I've lost SO much time and energy dealing with this nonsense since 2010, and I'm done with it. Remember, Whirlpool Corp makes KA, Jenn-Air, Maytag, and Amana among others. Avoid these brands as well.

The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem.
They are now available at the consumer's expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.
If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

I was told by the technician that he would try a panel on his truck that supposedly would only work in my refrigerator 50% of the time. He uninstalled mine and replaced it with another that did not work. My old one was reinstalled and now is totally nonfunctional. I found this hard to believe that KitchenAid would have parts that would work only 50% of the time. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig.
Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month.
My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

Your service representatives have been here for the past four years trying to resolve this problem and nobody seems to know what they're doing as we end up with the same problem, having to call you again.
We have a folder with all the service calls. From day one we have dealt with this problem. After several calls the first year and your techs not able to repair the problem, the constant annoyance of the door light on due to doors not closing properly, my mom asked your tech to take the refrigerator back at which time he informed her it was too late.
I live in Texas and was made aware that your technician advised her it was too late. I made the very first call shortly after it was delivered. Here it is four years later and I cannot believe it has not been resolved. A technician was scheduled to come by last week and we were informed he was in auto accident. A week has gone by and no one has called to reschedule. I just called and someone will be by tomorrow. I spoke with your representative, Erb, who was very helpful. He is sending someone tomorrow.
The refrigerator has water right now with flies laying dead in water. My mom was going to clean it up as she has for the past four years. I told her to leave it alone so that your tech can see what's going on. The last tech about 4 weeks ago said he "fixed" it. Obviously not as you have not been able to from day 1. This is pathetic that my almost 90-year-old parents have to deal with this. At this point, we are requesting a replacement. My parents bought an "expensive" refrigerator which has turned out to be a nightmare. If you check your records you will see how many times you have been out for the same problem. I am attaching a receipt of purchased product. A response as to considering a replacement is greatly appreciated.

I purchased the KitchenAid refrigerator KFIS29PBMS00 2 years ago. My refrigerator has not been keeping things frozen since before Thanksgiving of 2015... It’s now the end of January 2016. It is also leaking water from the water dispenser. I think it is a shame you spend a good amount of money on a new appliance and within 2 years you have 4 problems with it. It has iced up. There was a problem with the door. The ice maker / water dispenser problem... but this freezer problem is the worst. (Thank goodness I have an old refrigerator, you know one that was produced when quality with appliances was great!)
But what has become the even worst problem is the warranty company, Consumer Priority Service. You call in your problem. They call someone in your area... they come out to check the problem... leave, order parts and then come back. The first time I called to get someone out they told me they could get someone out in 3 weeks... 3 weeks!!! Come on... 3 weeks!
So I bypassed the warranty company the 1st time the freezer had a problem. When they came out they noticed the water leak and said to call the warranty company on it. I did. It was 12/2/2015... They came out 1/21/2016 with the WRONG part. Now I'm waiting again. In the meantime, the freezer is broken again. The warranty company notified a repair company... I hadn't heard a response from them so I called them. They said they could not fix my problem and they contacted the warranty company again. Needless to say, this is very frustrating. My beautiful, KitchenAid refrigerator has been no working since before Thanksgiving of last year! I will never buy another KitchenAid product again or warranty service from Consumer Priority Service.

I purchased my Kitchenaid REfrigerator Model KSC24C8EYY02. In the first couple months a tube broke and leaked all over my floor. It was replaced. Then starting 6 months ago the freezing and cooling units stopped working. I have had the repairman out 5 times since then. Every time they come up they give me a 4 hour window which I have to take time off work to accommodate. They have replaced condensers, tubing, compressors etc... It STILL DOES NOT WORK. In my last interaction with KitchenAid the Rep (Marcus **) was not very understanding or accommodating. He also disconnected the chat without asking if I had other issues or questions. This has been a terrible experience and has cost me hours in lost work as well as hundreds of dollars of lost food. Living without a working fridge for 6 months has been.

The issue I am currently having is trying to get a new control panel for our built in refrigerator. The day after Christmas the refrigerator went out. The following Monday I called a local appliance repair business so we could get the refrigerator fixed. They showed up the following day and informed us it was the main control panel that was out and this part was not available. They suggested we either were going to have to have the control panel rebuilt or if that did not work the only solution was to buy another refrigerator. I found that hard to believe so I called KitchenAid and eventually got to the Built-In Department. I was told the part was getting ready to be available and would be ready for distribution on 1-7-16. Was also told until now this part had not been available due to the manufacturer being destroyed in a storm and it had taken them several years to redesign a part that actually worked.
I also found that hard to believe. However, I now thought all issues were taken care of and excepted the wait. Well, yesterday I decided to call checking on things only to find the part did not go out as stated and there was still (0) showing in their availability. The parts distribution company that our repair shop orders their product from had not even placed an order because there was still 0 showing available. After several phone calls and talking to several different people my frustrations only grew. It appears that even though the folks in the built in department could see the inventory was available nobody was able to order the part because the part is still not showing up as available in their system. Finally, the part was made available for me to order, shipping at my expense, to be shipped to my repair Co. I also then found out that I would then be responsible for shipping the core back and that I would have NO warranty on a $350.00 part.
If the part was ordered through my repair Co I have a warranty and no shipping expense. They were not even willing to ship next day or 2nd day mail. For a part this expensive and with as many issues it appears there have been with it, I decided I needed the warranty so I'm back at the mercy of KitchenAid and the wholesale part supplier to get the part to my repair Co. I found the policies at KitchenAid and the procedure they go through to be very non-flexible and not consumer friendly. In addition, we put all KitchenAid products with the exception of our gas stove in our house. We have already replaced the built in Ice maker and the microwave. This will be the last KitchenAid/whirlpool appliance we ever purchase.

Purchased a $7000 Kitchen Aid refrigerator 6 years ago (KSSO48FTX02) at the suggestion of the salesman at JC Perreault in Montreal. Thankfully our $25,000 purchase of appliances did not include any other Kitchen Aid products as my recent problem has been nothing short of a customer service nightmare. Our refrigerator, which other than a constant noise problem, had been relatively reliable. Last month, a constant beeping sound and on/off of a motor was observed. In addition the control panel lights were constantly flashing whenever the door was opened. For 3 days - getting through the 800 number was impossible - so I was forced to call an outside tech.
Upon hearing of the problem he informed me that there was a 90% chance the motherboard was fried. I told him to come over anyhow and in 5 minutes of pressing buttons he confirmed it - AND that the replacement part was DISCONTINUED by Kitchen Aid because of the Tsunami in Japan 5 years ago! The only fix would be a black market repair and it would cost me $2000, and it might not even work! When I finally got through to customer service at KA, they confirmed that the part was no longer being made and they suggested I check out Ebay or Amazon for replacements! The nightmare continues as I try to decide whether or not to cut my losses and buy a new fridge - and remodel my kitchen in the process since this one was built-in. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANY PRODUCT MADE BY KITCHEN AID, or Whirlpool or Jenn-air.

After reading all of the negative reviews about Whirlpool's Customer Service, I felt I had to post my very positive experience. We purchased a KitchenAid Architect series refrigerator in April 2015. Unfortunately, it turned out be a defective fridge which would not be repaired. We had several visits to repair the unit since it simply would not defrost, and several different technicians, but in the end they couldn't fix the problem. I was quite apprehensive about what resolution would be offered and was ready for a big battle.
To my surprise, Whirlpool (KitchenAid) Customer Service couldn't have been better. They offered me an exchange or a complete refund without hesitation. Even through my repairs, each call was handled promptly and efficiently. I have no complaints and even though this refrigerator didn't turn out to be what I had hoped for, I would not hesitate to purchase a KitchenAid appliance again in the future.

Remodeled our kitchen back in 2007 and, without much research, purchased KitchenAid appliances. Always hearing the name meant upper end, quality products. The wake-up call should have been when I received a warranty extension notices in the mail after only two years. June 2011 both Deli/Crisper pans started freezing everything inside so I called Idler's, the dealer, and they sent out a technician. He told me, after checking with KitchenAid Tech Support, that the circuit boards needed to be replaced.
Luckily the rest of the fridge worked 'cause it took eight visits and weeks to get the parts, and when they came the connectors didn't match up. Tech Support said they could not do anything else, the Idler's technician felt sad for us and actually cut off the connectors and spliced the wires one by one. Now the main circuit board is failing and I hate to think how much this will cost or how long this is going to take to repair. Did I mention this refrigerator cost $5,000 and does not come with outer panels? They have to be custom-made to match the cabinets.

I have a french door refrigerator (Model KBFS22ECMS00 purchase date 1/27/15) and gas range (Model KGRS202BSS-1 purchase date 1/19/15) that have issues. I called 2 weeks before Thanksgiving about the freezer not maintaining temperature (set at -6 degrees, maintaining 6-15 degrees) at time of call. Several days BEFORE Thanksgiving, the refrigerator started doing the same thing (set as low as possible, maintaining 45+ degrees). On the day of Thanksgiving, my oven refused to maintain set temperature. It would get to temperature then the igniter failed to ignite the gas and maintain the set temperature. No smell of gas in the house.
November 30 when service techs arrived, it was discovered my condenser leaked all the oil out and the compressor had locked up. They had to order parts. Had a service date of 12/16 to repair the refrigerator and troubleshoot the issue with the oven. Was called the day before by Video Tech Services (the servicing company) to cancel my service appointment because one of the refrigerator parts was on backorder. Called KitchenAid/Whirlpool early last week and lo and behold, THEY had the part that was on backorder so I have no idea where the service company is getting their parts from. Parts were sent to the service company 2 day shipping so they SHOULD have received it last Friday (12/18)... At the latest.
I called KitchenAid/Whirlpool again on the Tuesday (12/22) since I had not received a scheduling call from the service company. Interestingly enough, the servicing company received the backordered part on SATURDAY (12/19) but had since FAILED to call for a service appointment. Now mind you, this is going into a SECOND MAJOR HOLIDAY without appliances. The service company finally called 30-45 minutes AFTER my call to the manufacturer. I am now scheduled for a repair on January 15 because I refused to take another day off from work (11/30) to accommodate them. I had taken the day off on 12/16 as well. I have a 5-hour service repair window every time the company that services the warranty comes out. Last time the part took so long to come in that I waited for almost 4 weeks to get my fridge fixed. Once the warranty runs out and I can't get them to continue to fix this fridge, I will take the loss and buy a new non-KA fridge. This company completely sucks. All 3 drawers on the fridge side are broken. Same issue where the face of the drawer has come off. I had one drawer replaced which broke again. KA won't stand behind their poorly made product. Purchased a complete set of high-end KitchenAid kitchen appliances from Good Deals Appliances, invoice # **, and had them installed on Feb. 7/13. The KitchenAid Stainless Refrigerator Model # KFXS25RYMS2 (4-door, with middle drawer and freezer in bottom) has a LOUD rattling noise. In March 2013, KitchenAid sends out their repairman who misdiagnoses the rattle as being an installation problem. So, when the rattle returns, KitchenAid warns me in Nov. '13, that a second visit will be charged to me, even though it's within the one year warranty. So, I contact the appliance installers.
The 3rd repairman on Jan. 16/14 states that this model has an ongoing problem with the Condenser rattling. He keeps heavy-duty cardboard in his truck for just this purpose. He uses it to shim around the Condenser coils--and it has been the best fix so far... But how can cardboard be a permanent fix? And we cannot move the fridge for fear the shims will dislodge! On Mar. 18/15 I speak to a KitchenAid Supervisor. I advise her that the rattle seems to be an ongoing engineering/design problem. She checks for Recalls and Quality Issues, and says there are none. She reluctantly agrees (after 1 1/2 hours on the phone!) to send out their own repairman, since they were responsible for misdiagnosing it in the first place.
Their repairman attends, confirms that there's an ongoing problem with the Condenser Coils vibrating in this model. He calls KitchenAid/Whirlpool's Tech Dept., speaks to Andrew, who also confirms an ongoing problem with the Condenser coils vibrating, and says that KitchenAid/Whirlpool does not produce a part to fix this problem, and that when he was a repairman in the field, he would rig up his own repair with used rubber gaskets from discarded condensers. My repairman does not have used rubber gaskets available, so he replaces the cardboard shims and crosses his fingers! I noticed he made no mention of the true problem (Condenser coil vibration) on his invoice. The Technician, Andrew, also did not note the true problem on his report, nor his "used rubber gasket shim" remedy. No wonder "Recalls and Quality Issues" had no mention of my problem!
I called the KitchenAid Supervisor again, to follow up about this on Mar. 20th and again, on April 13/15--and heard nothing back. So I sent a formal complaint letter dated Apr. 15/15. Again, no response! November 2015--the icemaker inexplicably stops working! The latest repairman (Dec. 23/15) confirms that he is also familiar with the Condenser Coil vibration problem, but that KitchenAid will not acknowledge it, or produce a proper factory fix. He called their Tech Department and advised "TJ" that it is unrepairable and an ongoing problem. In his opinion, it is a Manufacturer's Defect. TJ tried to convince him to do a "Mickey Mouse" repair to address the problem, which my repairman refused to do, because of liability issues. TJ told him to have me call Customer Service to follow up. I have already spent countless futile hours on the phone to KitchenAid's Customer Service dept, who just make excuses and send me in circles!
After more than 2 years and 6 service calls, four different repairmen, including KitchenAid/Whirlpool's own Tech person, confirm that there is an ongoing problem with the Condenser coils vibrating in this model. KitchenAid/Whirlpool refuse to acknowledge this problem, or manufacture a part to remedy it. We are entitled to a proper factory fix, or a new fridge. Currently, the best fix has been shims made out of heavy-duty cardboard, jammed in around the condenser to stabilize it! That's not a permanent solution! Cardboard disintegrates! Plus, we can't move the fridge or the shims will dislodge! The frustration for me, the wasted time, plus the unnecessary repairman visits--how can KitchenAid/Whirlpool pretend there's no problem here? We bought the complete set of high-end stainless steel KitchenAid Kitchen Appliances. They were supposed to be of superior design and quality. KitchenAid/Whirlpool are not living up to their promise.
A cardboard fix is not acceptable. I need to have this problem permanently fixed, with no cardboard involved! I had no idea that KitchenAid/Whirlpool's products were so poorly designed. Their Customer Service is a joke! I'll never buy Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool products again! *All receipts and service invoices can be produced, if needed.

It was difficult to get my money back from the service people, took months.
Now there is ice building up behind the drawers in the refrigerator, blocking the vent. There is about 2" of ice built up so the drawers do not close completely. Everything in the drawers freezes. This time it was a manufacturing defect which, according to the repairman, was well known but we had received no notice. Again, according to the repairman, there had been six updates to the control panel during that year but again, no notice from KitchenAid.
Now, two months later, it has failed again. This time it is some sort of internal water leak which was undetected until it ruined about half my kitchen cabinets, the lower adjacent wall and several feet of living room wood floor. Fortunately I have both home insurance which will cover most of the house damage and an extended warranty on the refrigerator which will cover that repair but I am still out a substantial deductible which I intend to be reimbursed by KitchenAid. Six months later I found a big puddle of water on the kitchen floor coming from the freezer compartment. I called KitchenAid and when the woman asked me what was going on in the freezer (I told her frost was forming in the ice compartment); she told me that it was warranted under the first year and gave me a number of a company (Calif. Appliance Tech) to call.
They came out on July 8, 2015 and told me the problem was the gasket on the left side hadn't been properly sealed and was letting air in. They left and a few days later someone from CAT called to tell me the part was ordered and it should arrive in 6 weeks. It never arrived. When I spoke to John on 9/18, he insinuated that I can still use the freezer which is not so. He told the part (freezer) has to be manufactured and I have to be patient as there is a long back order! In the meantime, CAT closed the case and it had to be re-opened when I called back on October 16th.
What does this say about the crappy product? The freezer is completely frozen shut so I cannot open the door and have to make numerous trips to the market as I can't use the freezer. I went back to Sears in Santa Monica and told their customers in the appliance area not to purchase any product with KitchenAid in the name. I was very vocal to the shoppers about the horrible experience with them (Whirlpool owns them). I then spoke to John at Sears who took me to their computer and looked up the part KitchenAid told me had to be manufactured and the part is readily available.
I am so angry with KitchenAid. They are liars! John at Sears told me the part with gasket could be purchased thru them but it will terminate my warranty and would cost me up to $1,000 to replace. I paid an additional $266 for the 5-year warranty. I am ready to throw in the bucket, call Goodwill to haul it away and purchase a product that doesn't have KitchenAid or Whirlpool in its name. John told me that had I purchased the Sears warranty this wouldn't have happened. How can KitchenAid get away with not providing the warranty they tell us we have? We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator (model KFIS29PBMS) with a 5 year extended warranty. We started having trouble with the unit after 1 year, in that the freezer compartment was making a lot of noise. About a year later, it started again. the problem was the freezer was not keeping ice cream hard. They diagnosed the problem to be the automatic defrost cycle not working properly. Ice would build up around the fan causing the loud noise. This time, the service technician replaced the control panel and another panel in the rear of the unit. The noise subsided, but two problems continue to exist. The unit periodically beeps (every five to ten minutes) and the refrigerator freezer compartment continues to not freeze ice cream.
I called for extended service and was told they would NOT come out to fix the problem because it was already repaired. After an hour with their extended service rep, they agreed to find another service company but said I may have to pay for the repair. I have had KitchenAid products in all three of my homes in the past. The quality of their products has changed - unfortunately for the worse. When they refuse to stand by their extended service contract, then it's time to find another company. After reading several reviews on this refrigerator, I found that I am not the only one who has had this problem. Do yourself a favor, when you look at a KitchenAid product in a store, just walk on by. Save yourself a lot of aggravation!!!

Fridge purchased May 2015. Lid for cheese drawer kept falling off whenever opened and puddle kept forming on floor below bottom freezer. New cheese drawer lid ordered, still didn't fit properly so technician had to "shim" the sides and now there is a gap on either side where debris could collect and can't be cleaned out. Door on bottom freezer deemed to be warped causing it not to seal properly, thus huge frost accumulation on inside of freezer and bouts of thawing causes puddles on floor in front. Waited 2 months for a new freezer door, arrived and when technician went to install found it also was warped. Now have to wait another 2 months for a second try. Whole unit is substandard. I asked for a replacement fridge. Of course, they refuse but they are "happy to keep making repairs". I am not happy to have to make myself available for repeated visits by technician for a problem that remains unfixed.

I have a KitchenAid stainless steel side by side built in fridge. In August 2015, it started beeping constantly. I had a KitchenAid service person to my home. Immediately, thereafter, my fridge stopped working completely. The service person came to my home again and got the fridge working but it still beeps constantly (24 hours a day). I called KitchenAid last week to follow up on my replacement part and I still have no answer from them. Very poor service for a very expensive product.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator in Sept 2014 for nearly $3000. On Oct 1, 2015 the refrigerator was warm resulting in loss of most of the food. I called my authorized dealer, Poirier Sales of Norwood MA, where I purchased the fridge and requested service that day. They came out and charged me $169 house call and found that the SEALED waterline was blocked which resulted in the fan freezing up and had stopped working. The fridge was 1 year 2 weeks old! I called KitchenAid and they REFUSED to pay the house call charge of $169. Why is shoddy workmanship the norm? I will NEVER buy a KitchenAid product again.

KBFS22EWMS4 bought this refrig in late 2012. All seemed fine till 5/2014. Water started leaking from the freezer door. Water had been leaking into the bottom of the freezer and eventually started spilling out on the floor when the defrost cycle ran. I called a tech and he took apart the freezer, cleared the defrost drain, unfroze it and all seemed fine. 1 year 4 months later the same thing again.
I called the same tech and when he got here, he pulled out the refrig and took off the bottom back panel and then removed the little rubber drain plug/funnel. He said this was the problem and now he just removed them when he sees this issue. He's seen this before. It was very sticky (he said) because of the heat. The rubber funnel is about an inch long and about 1/2 inch wide. It has a slit in the bottom of it for the water to pass through. Not a hole, a slit! No wonder the thing leaked, it would get so easily gunk'ed up and with the rubber being so sticky I'm sure the slit would stick together and probably make it much easier to freeze. I'd call this an engineering issue.
Who in their right mind would use a pliable rubber funnel with a small slit in the bottom, it defies logic. There probably should have been no funnel to begin with or at least a hard plastic one with a hole big enough to drain without getting gunk'ed up. We'll see if this fix takes. If not, I'm buying another (non-Kitchenaid) refrig. I'm not putting $100+ each year on the same fridge for something that should have been designed properly.

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator on Sept. 15, 2015 and it arrived with a non-working ice maker. We purchased it from a local Eugene, OR company rather than a big box store. My wife wanted to support a local business. When called about the non-working ice maker that dealer said wait 72 hours to see if it comes on because sometimes it takes that long. Had we known that we could not have made the purchase. Other manufacturers provide ice makers that begin work immediately (e.g., GE or LP).
When it did not work 72 hours later we called the dealer again and he said he would call KitchenAid (KA) about warranty service. KA called a couple days later to say the parts were on order and would be ready in about 5 days. Nothing happen after 5 days and our dealer has not been any further help (Appliance and TV Center, Eugene, OR). Given the fact that the refrigerator arrived broken and there appears to be no KA service, we regret this purchase. Others in the market would be well-advised to avoid KitchenAid and look to GE or LP whose appliances have worked well for us.

I purchased a new home in February of 2014. As part of the purchase, I upgraded all the builder appliances to top of the line KitchenAid appliances. Shortly after the initial warranty expired, I started having issues with all the appliances. $9,000 Fridge - the freezer is icing over and leaking on the floor. Dishwasher - cheap plastic bracket broke; cost me $300 to fix. Microwave oven - display panel malfunctioning and microwave light went off. Light stopped working after a year. You can buy a cheap microwave at Sears and the light won't go out for 10 years. Stove - this one is fresh, after you light the stove and walk away, the auto light clicker continues to go off. I would never buy these products again.

My KA side by side leaked all over my hardwood floor within 6 months of purchase. They paid the claim and the repair man installed a kit designed to make up for the design flaw (his words). Now 18 months later, I find myself on my back trying to unplug the condensation drain line for 3 hours. The doors never aligned properly either. What a piece of crap. After I cleared the line and did the best I could to align the doors, I told the wife to go get a Korean Fridge. I have owned American made refrigerators all my life but the last 10 years have done it for me. Going Korean now. If you all end up out of business and out of work, it's your own fault. NO MORE. I'm done.

In June, 2009, I did a complete kitchen remodel and installed all-KitchenAid appliances, including a side-by-side refrigerator model KSCS25MVMS which cost almost $2,500. I purchased a five-year extended warranty on all the appliances which, unfortunately, has now expired. I recently noticed water damage to the base of the cabinet surrounding the refrigerator and to the hardwood floor. I had an appliance repairman out and he determined that the water leak was the result of a crack in the evaporator drip pan under the refrigerator. He said he would order a replacement pan.
A couple of days later he called to inform me that this part was no longer available. He said he could attempt to repair it, with no guaranty that the repair would be successful, or I could buy a new refrigerator. I think it is outrageous that a $2,500 6-year old refrigerator (which is otherwise working fine) is now rendered unusable because of the failure of a cheap plastic part that KitchenAid has discontinued. It sounds like KitchenAid is discontinuing parts availability in order to force people to buy new products. Well, all I can say is, if I end up having to buy a new refrigerator, it will most definitely NOT be a KitchenAid!!!

Just cost me $1,602 in labor charges to fix a six-year-old KitchenAid, side-by-side built in refrigerator. Yep, the top of the line one! The parts were covered under the warranty because the appliance had a Freon leak, which caused damage to the compressor, evaporator coil, and heat exchanger. Now I ask you, if a company recognizes that their appliance should not break down in this way in only six years, as evidenced by their willingness to hand over the parts free of charge, shouldn't they pay for the labor as well?! Oh, and to get the parts for free, you can only use one of their authorized service people, who of course can and do charge whatever they want. This company should not even bother having a customer service dept. They do nothing except repeat their hard line and refer you back to the legalize of their warranty. Never would I buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowe's) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels.
With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowe's. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return "chat" contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions.
Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldn't? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid "authorized technician") an admission that the first two that Lowe's sent out were something less than competent? Why wasn't a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem can't be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

We did a gut rehab kitchen remodel in 2012. Consumer Reports magazine pointed us to the best refrigerator and other appliances (virtually all KitchenAid). Everything (layout, space, ice maker and filtered water) was great with the refrigerator for 3 years. In late August, 2015 we started seeing water dripping from the freezer door onto the floor. Fortunately not hardwood flooring, but wooden cabinet enclosure got a bit wet and is damaged. Bottom line - after a couple of hopeful attempts assuming it might be the ice maker or the high humidity, the problem persisted and we called the dealer for repair. I asked the tech if he's seen this problem and he honestly answered "Yes, a lot." He explained that the part to fix it would be free of charge, and that I would need to pay $164 for the service call.
To the dealer's credit, I was told on the phone that the minimum for a service call is $164. With this fresh info from the tech who's working on the refrigerator real time, things recalibrate.... If a manufacturer has "a lot" of the same problem happening, the product should be recalled and owners notified. From there, repairs should be gratis. While the tech was still at the house, I googled the problem and see many youtube videos and write ups about this problem which is a small black rubber check valve that gunks up and then backs up water into the freezer. The floor of the freezer becomes a mini skating rink, and when there's no room left for water down there, it leaks out the front of the freezer. I called the dealer while the tech was still at the house and plead my case. They did call back and agreed to pick up half of the service call. They tried KitchenAid and were unsuccessful.
A couple days later, I called KitchenAid's large appliance customer service and they stuck to their guns. The rep gave me the usual apology said there's nothing he could do. I asked for his supervisor. I waited a few minutes and finally spoke to a woman who listened, said sorry, and then when I asked for her manager, she refused to pass me up the line saying that she was as far as I was going to take this. $82 isn't the issue. Customer service or lack thereof, and a corporate decision to let the consumers be guinea pigs to figure this wet mess out for themselves is what "frosts" me. I wonder how long before I have a wet floor beneath the freezer again. Consumer Reports or not, I'm done with KitchenAid, its products, and its affiliated companies.

Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

We have had this stupid side by side shiny stainless steel refrigerator for less than 2 years. The heater or Defrost Thermostat has gone out. There is a buildup of ice on the back of it. We don't know exactly which one has gone out until we turn off the fridge for 24 hour and let it thaw out. After that, the repairman will come back out. We have lost food and this has been a tremendous inconvenience for us. This should not happen on a fridge this old. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND. It sucks!!

Called about cracks on inside of door. Two horizontal cracks the largest about 10" long. They told me needed to have a service rep come out. Cost 99.99. I find out this is a common problem with KitchenAid refrigerators and is not covered by any warranty even an extended warranty would have expired in my case (6yrs). The repair is tape and screws or door replacement. This is obviously poor manufacturing that KitchenAid refuses to acknowledge. Shame on them.
