I called KitchenAid regarding my dishwasher purchased in 2007, Model#KUDP02FRBL4, because the door won't latch and pops open as soon as you close it. I had one of their recommended technicians come out last year to repair this same problem. The technician charged us $100 for the service call. He bent the old latch so that it would work and sold us a new latch for $10.
Well the old latch stopped working, so we thought-great! We have a new latch, no problem! But the new latch is worse than the old latch and now I am seeing that many people are having the same problem. So I called KitchenAid and the rep told me I should have the technician come out again to look at it, that maybe he misdiagnosed the problem. I told her that I did some research and many are having the same problem and that I'd like to talk to her supervisor. I spoke with the supervisor and she said there is no recall on this. Also, that the technicians would have to be the ones to report this to KitchenAid in order to enact a recall on this product.
I told her there are numerous complaints, blogs, etc. regarding this dishwasher malfunction and that KitchenAid needs to own up to it and rectify the problem, as it is an apparent engineering problem. She said my call was being recorded and that she would inform KitchenAid. So get on the phone and call all you consumers and technicians and report the problem! I will not have another technician come and look at this. And I will never buy another KitchenAid product unless they own up to this problem!
Another waste of our resources. This dishwasher will maybe get recycled, if I can find anyone to take it all because of a malfunctioning latch. KitchenAid should be ashamed.

I have a KitchenAid SS dishwasher model KUDM03FSS2 that has not cleaned the dishes well since we purchased it 3 years ago. I have tried every soap and rinse agent on the market with no luck. Our old dishwasher (an Inglis 20 years old) worked fine until the racks rusted out. I thought we bought a quality product. I haven't had the problem of the door cable or the control board burning up, but when I checked for the water damage on the wood cabinet on the left side as mentioned earlier by Becky, my panel is bulging from steam/water vapor soaking the panel. I am not sure what to do at this point, it sounds like customer service is pathetic to deal with. I will probably need to repair it myself.

I have had this high end Kitchenaid dishwasher that is 15 months old and has had major service 3 times. The first 2 times it was out of service from 2-4 weeks due to having to wait for the manufacturer taking forever to send parts, then waiting on the service tech. This last one, it of course was out of warranty, and this is the second control panel since we have owned this item.
The service tech had the part available and could fix it in a timely manner. So I did. Whirlpool offered to pay for half of the part but since we didn't order it from them they will not pay for anything. Because of past experience with the length of time it takes to get the part where we live, I didn't wait. Now, costumer no service basically said to bad. When confronted by their poor product and lack of customer service I got hung up on. Big names do not transpire into good products. No more Whirlpool or Kitchenaid products for us. Who stands by their product these days? $240 bill on a 15-month old appliance.

My KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS03FTWH2 has never really gotten our dishes clean especially in the top tray. So we only wash in the bottom tray. I took the top rotary spray mechanism off the sliding upper rack and took it outside where I fit a garden hose to it to see how well it spun and how much water it pushed out. It barely rotated even though it is very smooth to turn by hand and the water coming out of the holes was about three inches high.
My garden hose is a 5/8 hose and held level to the ground pushes water out at about 25 gal/min and about 10-12 feet straight out, so it's not a water supply issue. There is something inherently wrong with the design of the spinning upper sprayer. There are no restrictions in the sprayer. So, buying a new part is not going to help. Buying a new dish washer will as long as it's not a KitchenAid. Don't buy a KitchenAid product if you can help it.

I remodeled my kitchen and bought all new top of the line KitchenAid stainless steel appliances. The dishwasher costs $100. I have had nothing but problems with it since it was installed. It does not clean. It has left soap scum on my dishes, glassware and plastic utensils that will not come off. I called KitchenAid at least 3 times. I was told to change the dishwasher detergents, use vinegar and a finishing rise but none of these works. I have used ever dishwasher detergent and finishing rinse on the market. I have had repairmen out to my house 3 times in the year that I have owned the machine.
The final straw was when the repairman from Sears came out yesterday and told me that my water was not hot enough when the machine starts so I should run the hot water before I start the dishwasher. I was also told that I was using too much dishwasher detergent and not to put any detergent in the pre-wash cup and I was told to wash my dishes before putting them in the expensive, energy efficient dishwasher! In addition, I was told that the top rack to hold large knives, which was one of the features that sold me on the dishwasher, was blocking the water from cleaning all the rest of my dishes. I may not be technologically proficient in dishwashers but I as a lawyer, I know a defective product when I see one!

I had five service calls on my KitchenAid dishwasher beginning one week before the warranty expired. Eventually, I was offered an exchange for an additional $113 which I paid. I was then rescheduled two times after the appointment times had elapsed, before the delivery was made. The installation was poor due to the low quality installers hired by Whirlpool and additional installer returned to reinstall.
Next Whirlpool is having to send an additional tech because the exchanged unit has ink all over the front stainless door panel and plastic stuck under the control panel sticking out every which way looking very unsightly. The repair was again canceled during the appointment time because the part was not ordered. In summary, I have had to meet with or wait for service/install people nine times in two months and they still have not finished the job. I will avoid all Whirlpool owned companies for life. Good luck.

I am not naming the business that I purchased from, yet. The KitchenAid dishwasher, purchased in Aug., leaves grime and dirt on the bottom of the dishwasher. I have had their serviceman out 2 times. They have been told by KitchenAid to say that it is the fault of no phosphates in soap. This is not the case. The $800 dishwasher does not clean.

I am very satisfied with all the KitchenAid products that I have purchased. Recently (10-6-2010), I had a technician out to replace the motor assembly (part no. 8534942) because the clean light was flashing and the dishwasher would not work. While he was here, he replaced the door (tub), seal gasket (redesigned gasket). It was worn and had a small tear. After I waited the required time recommended by the technician and by Whirlpool, I attempted to use my dishwasher.
The door began to randomly pop open during a cycle. I called and had the technician out a second time. He commented that when they replaced the gasket, they have found that the dishwasher needs to be perfectly level or the door will not stay shut. Hmm. So he levels the dishwasher; it was off about a 16th of an inch. When I started the dishwasher after dinner, it again popped open. I called the repair company yet another time. The technician replaced the strike latch, latch assembly and console assembly because the plastic panel was stripped (screw holes).
Oh, in-between all the service calls I called Whirlpool Corporation to inquire about the door popping open. It appears to me that the redesigning of the gasket also requires a redesigning of the strike and latch assembly. Whirlpool will not acknowledge that it is a design flaw. I have included a copy of the email from Whirlpool.
Now let me remind the consumer that Whirlpool manufactures and distributes Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, and various different names within these major brands. My point is that a consumer cannot choose to not buy their product because they own so much. What I want is my dishwasher to function properly as it did before. In addition, I do believe that the technician is competent. Whirlpool just needs to fix the issue by resigning the door assembly parts to correct the problem.
Consumers and Whirlpool alike can see that many people experience the same issue once the gasket is replaced. So in the end, I have a dishwasher that must be propped close and I am currently waiting for the repair company to call. I am corresponding with the repair company and the extended warranty company and may attempted to call Whirlpool again. I am quite disappointed with Whirlpool Corporation.

I bought a kitchen aid dishwasher and the levelers or legs on the bottom of the dishwasher need to be in the lowest position for the door to close easily. But that doesn't work for my situation because I need it raised up a bit to secure it to my countertop. I did have a technician out to the house and he said this is just the way it is. Maybe in time it will be easier for you when the casket rubber were in. What a way to close the door.

We own a 4 1/2-year-old KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDI01DL which is again requiring another service call, the 3rd time. This dishwasher on it's first service call in 2007 required a new control pad unit which became completely inoperative. Another service call, approximately 1 year later, was required as a result of continual intermittent power problems. The service rep found that there was no nut and washer on the main AC hot power post causing the line to come off the post and make intermittent contact. Now, 2010, the dishwasher is making a horrible noise similar to an outboard motor running at full power. The noise is so loud that you cannot converse when standing near the unit.
I just scheduled service and, of course, KitchenAid will do nothing to help compensate for the problem. We also have a KitchenAid gas range that we purchased at the same time and have had a major problem with it every year, 5 service calls so far. The electronics still continually give error messages requiring depowering to render the range operative.
To add insult to injury, our KitchenAid microwave has the front face cracking in numerous locations all emanating from the door handle. To say the least, I would not recommend any Kitchenaid item to anyone unless you enjoy constant problems and spending thousands in repairs!

Dirty Rinse water collects in a void under the door (this void is a design flaw, a space which allows the steam to vent up and outside the front of the dishwasher). The steam travels through a grill in the bottom of the door. Because the dirty water collects in the void area, it sits and is never drained out of the dishwasher. The water becomes a black jell-like substance. Black mold is evident in the steam vent and every crevasse within the dishwasher. Kitchenaid repairmen only suggest periodic rinsing with vinegar and baking soda. The problem recurs because the void area is a permanent feature. Phone calls and emails go unanswered to Kitchenaid.

Reviewed Sept. 26, 2010
I am relieved to read that I am not the only one who is having quality issues, lack of customer service and a complete failure on the part of Kitchen Aid to acknowledge, let alone take any responsibility for a poor quality product. I have had my Kitchen Aid Dishwasher for only two years, I have had to make repair calls every three months beginning with the unit being only three months old, because it never did and apparently never will wash dishes. One very helpful sub-contracted repair person finally provided explanations that make sense and basically I am out $700 for something that was never designed properly to wash dishes.
The models of dishwasher you get now a days is not the one you had 20 years ago, they have been upgraded with energy saving motors (translation, cannot pump water up to the top shelf of your unit if you one pea gets gift behind), 1/3 of the water usage (meaning if that one pea has rendered your water intake partially blocked the "improved" motor spews the cup full of still detergent laced water all over your dishes during the rinse cycle, since the water pressure was not enough to get the 1 tablespoon of detergent out of the dispenser when it was supposed to in the beginning) and then because the units are advertised to be so energy efficient, the default setting is heat dry, so if you forgot to turn that off, you get baked on detergent, "clean" dishes.
And oh, the unit is so energy consciously designed that the element in the bottom will cycle on and off every few minutes until it preheats the water to 140 degrees Celsius, which in my house takes about 20 cycles as I keep my water temp at 110. Kitchen Aid tells you to turn you tap on near the DW and let it run to avoid this re-heating, energy saving feature, so now I can waste the water they engineered the unit to save me.
As a result of Kitchen Aids super fantastic engineering I have paid out over the value of the unit in service calls, still don’t have a unit that works, and I am just waiting to rebuild my savings account so that I can afford to have it removed and replaced with any other product than a kitchen aid, because I can't afford to buy and new glasses or plates, 2 sets the machine has ruined. Oh and that lovely service rep, this is what he told me I have to do to get the unit to work, he says it works for him. I guess he has stock options and has to hold on put a 8 oz can of frozen lemonade in the unit, (no dishes) once a week, run it for about 5 minutes, just enough to dispense the lemonade around the inside, then turn it off and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
Then run the rest of the cycle. He also said I have to take apart the entire mechanism at the bottom and the flattened tube that transports water to the top rack and soak it in vinegar once a month and remove any food that may have accidentally gotten down there. Because chances are that no one is perfect and if any food gets down near the intake/chopper mechanism, it is not plastic and not strong enough to chop a soggy piece of spaghetti, so I will wrap this up.
Upon receiving this advice from one of their subcontracted repair persons to which I took great offense, my question is why has an appliance that requires more maintenance than I do? I called the Kitchen Aid people once again, to plead, if they could do anything for me. I know the unit is past its warranty at two years now, but it has never worked from the beginning and each of the first 3 calls were legitimate problems for which I took corrective actions (drain line was installed to send dirty water back into unit, unit water temp was only 110, intake was blocked by food (I am now know as the dish ** in my house) and have reason to believe would fix my problem, a unit that does not wash dishes.
Of course those calls pushed me over one year and then when I had 4 more calls, I finally woke up and realized it was never going to work. So I pleaded my case and KA said, "You have an improper use issues, upon review of your records, improper water temp, incorrect installation, evidences of etching which means your source water needs conditioning, therefore there is nothing we can do, it’s not our product. In fact, Ms. G. the last repairman (the one who so kindly offered plausible rationale for why it’s a poorly designed unit and Hints from Heloise cleaning advice which actually works, by the way) noted that your unit needs routine maintenance, which means that you are not using it according to the manual.
The only way we can do is offer you $100 toward the purchase of another KA unit. Kitchen Aid, you will never see another dime from me ever again, thank you for nothing and for taking my $700 dollars with absolutely no good faith effort to work with the customer and nor stand behind your product. By the way, my previous unit a Kenmore, worked for 20 years, never one repair needed, did not obsessively need to pre-clean my dishes, I just decided to "upgrade" because the replacement of the dish rack which was suffering plastic covering loss, and shedding rust, was more than the unit cost, $198.

I bought a new, top of the line Kitchen Aid dishwasher. The first thing that went wrong was the mounting brackets broke upon installation and the company refused to send replacements. I then noticed that the dishes weren't coming out clean. Again, the company said it was beyond their control. Now, less than three years later, the door won't stay latched and pops open and the cycles won't run.
Apparently, the flimsy latches on the Kitchen Aid dishwashers are very badly designed. I would not buy another Kitchen Aid product nor would I ever suggest or recommend one to anyone else. Going into the kitchen black smoke was spewing from the upper right side of the control panel vent. Turning the dishwasher off did not stop the burning smoke, only turning off the circuit breaker downstairs did. Thank God we caught this or we might have lost our house! Our dishwasher was purchased in 2004, Superba model.
I spoke with Michael at Kitchen Aide and he said there was a difference between smoke and fire. Offered to send someone out for free to see how much it would cost to fix it or offered us a voucher for 20% off any new Kitchen Aide, Maytag, Jen Air or Whirlpool dishwasher. All I know is we are never purchasing any appliance that has to do with any of these companies. When you spend over $1000 for a dishwasher, you expect it to last at least 10 years! I asked Michael if there have been any recalls on Kitchen Aide and he said no. I did ask him how many houses have to burn down before they do a recall. We also had the door cables fail and the door latch replaced 8-24-09. The repair man came back to replace the door latch 9-2-09 which failed again then came back 9-08-09 to replace a Bad Thermal Fuse and told us the fuse usually goes out shortly after the latch is replaced. I bought a Stainless Steel Kitchen Aid dishwasher model KUDOLOILBS1 in 2007. We've had to repair it three times in 3.5 years. First the door wouldn't latch and the latch had to be replaced. Then the water heater failed and had to be replaced. Now the electronic panel in the top of the door has melted, the hard plastic casing that holds the panel has cracked into small pieces and the styrofoam that lines the door completely melted and fused to the door. The repair person I called to look at it kept asking, "Why did it get so hot?" That is a really good question.
We turned it on the normal wash cycle when we went to bed and in the morning, no lights were on and it wouldn't start. When we called Kitchen Aid service, they had us push the circuit breaker on and off to "reset" the electronics. When that didn't work, we called our repair person who saw the melted electronics. The circuit breaker the dishwasher is connected to was not tripped. I asked the customer service people (Stephanie in the Safety department) why it got hot enough to crumble hard plastic. She said it was normal wear and tear.
They are sending someone to look at if and we won't have to pay for the diagnosis but will have to pay for any parts not covered by the warranty. Dishwasher is broken, will take an estimated $500 to repair. But I'm more concerned about burning the house down if it's repaired. Complaints by other owners of these dishwashers report fires started from something similar to this or other Kitchen Aid dishwashers. It's frightening that it got hot enough to melt the electronics.

The manual doesn't tell you how, the machine tells you to use keys that are not on my model, and there appears to be no technical support as they told me that there was no one technical there. The Internet states that it is a known problem. The green light flashing referring to a heat problem. I bought an expensive KitchenAid dishwasher in September of 2008 and now, I have purchased another (GE, this time), as it appears that it is either the control panel and a heat element that has to be replaced many times.
KitchenAid does not care that I have an expensive unit and I have only used it a little. They will not make any effort at good will. I called Lowe's where I bought it and they would sell me another unit at a reduced price. But I went to Home Depot as I had gift cards there. FYI, Home Depot does not carry KitchenAid (I know why). The model # is KUDL02FRSS1. This whole machine is a scam. They are using the KitchenAid name and putting it on a piece of junk.
I have never had a dishwasher not last 15years plus. I have rental houses, I have many dishwashers and I have never been ripped off like this before. Whirlpool took a good name and presents this as a top end model and name--and then does nothing to stand by the customer. The service technician who inspected the dishwasher today said that the control panel needed to be replaced and also the wiring harness had burned. He suggested I contact KitchenAid as he had heard that there had been a recall of KitchenAid dishwasher.
I spoke with a representative at KitchenAid who was less than friendly or concerned about my problem. She asked who serviced the appliance today. She indicated that the repair company I used was not an authorized repair company for KitchenAid and suggested I contact another authorized repair company at my expense. The repair company I used is highly respected and well known in our area. The exchange was not what I expected from a company like KitchenAid.
My service technician has always recommended not leaving an appliance running unattended which I never do because of his warnings. Fortunately in this case I was still in the kitchen when the incident happened but was planning to work in another part of the house in a few minutes. It frightens me to think what could have happened had I left the room. I am purchasing a new dishwasher but it definitely will not be a KitchenAid product. I would be too frightened that a similar incident could occur. Considering the cost of the repairs and particularly that I no longer have confidence in the safety of this appliance, I am purchasing a new dishwasher.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher, model KUDS40FVPSA. They originally sent me the wrong dishwasher that was returned with no problem. Finally, after a few more days, the right one was delivered. It was installed a day or two later. I used it twice, a rinse and a full wash. The third time, on a Saturday, it stopped with water inside. They refused to exchange. Manufacturer was no help either.

My KitchenAid dishwasher (Model KUDK03ITBL2) was installed on 1/12/08. To date, I have had the repairman here 5 times. The computer has been replaced twice, the first time was on 4/28/08. On April 30, 2010, the dishwasher was not working at all. The tech said that the computer was confused, but made no repair. He pushed a few buttons and it started to work. I subsequently tried to put the dishes through and it did not work at all. I again had the repairman here on May 7, 2010. He, at that time, replaced the computer for the second time.
Since then, after using the machine only 2 or 3 times, it is again dead. I called Karl's to see about replacing the unit, but KitchenAid said the warranty was expired and there was nothing they could do. I again called Karl's and told them that I am totally disgusted with this unit. They took the serial number of my unit and said they would get back to me. I still haven't heard anything. Over a 44-year period, I had 3 GE dishwashers with little or no problems. I feel that KitchenAid should replace this unit. I would like to know if there is a lemon law in place for this appliance?

My $1,000 dishwasher, bought 4 years ago, made a loud noise and the door fell down. I called KitchenAid and they told me it would be covered by my warranty and arranged for a service call. Serviceman shows up and tell me it will cost $178.98 to repair. I told him KA said it was covered. He called and they told him no, only the inner door was covered. I called Customer Service and they told me that it was not covered and I was told it would not be covered. That was a lie. I asked the repairman about the parts that were being replaced and was told that the plastic piece that broke was now redesigned to make it stronger and the rope cable was also made stronger.
I told the customer service rep that companies don't make engineering changes to products just for the heck of it. They make those changes because doors across the country must have had the same problem. He would only tell me that I wasn't covered by the warranty. I have a little grandson who plays in our kitchen and he could have been hit by that falling door. KitchenAid doesn't care about the quality of the product they produce anymore. I will go out of my way to tell people just that.

I had purchased the extended warranty and have decided to now drop because it was getting too expensive and the service techs never showed when they were supposed to or never fixed the problem correctly the first time. The reason I wanted to see what other people thought about them was because I got mine a few months ago and it doesn't clean my dishes the way my old GE did. I never had to worry about a dirty dish coming out of the dishwasher until I bought this beautiful SS (KUDE70FSS 2) Now I'm worried about all the other complaints I'm reading about. I'm worried about the moisture, fire, rust and on and on! I was told to use finish and I do but still some dirty dishes or silverware. I never overload. Don't know what to do. I did research and found that KitchenAid was rated high by Consumer Reports and bought KitchenAid with the metal tub and had Lowe's install it. It has never cleaned my dishes well. I tried several detergents and continue to have the same problem with the dishes not being clean and soap being left on dishes near the soap dispenser. I always have to rewash my dishes by hand and now only use the dishwasher to hold dirty dishes until I am ready to wash them by hand. This has been a big expense for a worthless product, a lot of money paid for an inferior product.

The replacement was half the cost of the machine in labor, and worked for 6 months at most. Back to slime again. All this for a 5-year-old machine. KitchenAid used to be a well-respected brand. The worst is that something happened to the hinges of the door and, rather than lowering normally, it now drops open with a huge thud and is extremely heavy. You have to be really careful with it. They kept telling me it would take so many weeks to process once received then finally claimed that the offer was closed by the time all the waiting time passed. Due to tornado damage, we replaced our KitchenAid appliances with new ones in 1999. The dishwasher boards (Model KUDS24SEBL3) have been replaced twice, costing in the $400 range. Now, although the dishwasher has a stainless steel tub, which should last forever, the plastic housing for the screws that connect the front console to the unit has broken off. The repairman said they break because of the heat generated by the dishwasher, and so the screws have no housing to accept them. So I'm sitting here holding the screws, which can no longer be screwed into the console.
The stove (KGST307FBL1) is even worse. For the first year, the oven would shut off in the middle of cooking. It was plugged into the same plug as the old stove, but we had to run a new electrical line because it was getting "interference." The first time I cleaned it using the "clean" cycle, the convection fan stopped working. The repairman said they usually didn't last as long as this one did. The heat from the cleaning cycle burned the starter, which lighted the gas for the oven. So it couldn't light.
We were very happy with our previous KitchenAid products, but the new products are poorly designed. They've taken a good thing and made it worse. And they don't care about customer satisfaction enough to correct the problems.

In February of 2007, we purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher, and it was installed by Sears. Unfortunately they did not follow the installation instructions from KitchenAid and did not add the moisture barrier. The installer claims that the provided moisture barrier does not stick to existing countertops and is a simple piece of silver tape. In the 22 months of use, it has slowly and quietly rotted the countertop from the bottom up. Since we could not see this happening, we had no idea until October of 2009, when the top of the formica started to split from the base. I took a look underneath and it had rotted the screws out of the countertop base as well as flaked the composite wood so that it could fall into the vent. I duct taped the area so that the particle board could not fall into the dishwasher and we stopped using it.
I called KitchenAid who told me that Sears installed it improperly by not installing the provided moisture barrier. This is a terrible inconvenience to go through while I call and call to find someone at Sears to help me. We took the route of the BBB, and each blamed each other. The BBB recommended we hire an attorney. I then sent it to our State's Attorney General. While we wait for a reply, we have since gathered estimates for new countertops the least of which is $3000.
We are not going to be able to replace the countertops with Formica as this will happen again. We asked only for an amount of what it would cost to replace it with Formica and we would pay the difference. But, we intend to hire an attorney since we did in fact, pay for installation, and this dishwasher design is not suitable for Formica or wood countertops and the provided moisture barrier is inadequate.

I know from what I have read here, that this is not the norm. However, this is the Gospel truth and I wanted to tell someone who still makes them. It is louder than the ones they make now, however mine makes the same sound it always did.
My neighbor bought one when I did and it fell down in her van when she was taking it home. It never worked and she has had four others since then. In any case, I am still very happy with mine and I thought the people who make them should know about it. I know this is not in your business dealings but I couldn't find any address that would be interested in my story. I hope I haven't bored you with this and I am truly sorry that I didn't have a complaint, but the truth is, that I really don't. In May of 2006 I purchased a new KitchenAid dishwasher, replacing an older, HOBART-made KitchenAid model (that one did an excellent job of cleaning) for their top-of-the-line Superba model. What a pile of junk; filthy dishes with the normal wash cycle, the "culinary rack" is a joke. It actually impedes water spray from the top of the tub down to the upper rack. After numerous complaints and service calls, the unit was replaced, but this one is identical in every bad way. I finally removed the "culinary rack" and then I retrofitted the upper wash arm with another Whirlpool-made wash arm from a Kenmore Elite dishwasher. I now get much cleaner dishes, but still not up to my standards.
I will never buy KitchenAid again. Never. This machine has been an engineering blunder all the way. I notice now, on their newest models, they've redesigned the wash arms, proving to me that they knew this machine did a lousy washing job. All I wanted was my money back, but they refused to do that. I had to shop around, find another Whirlpool-made wash arm that I could make fit into my unit, and I had to eliminate one of the main features I bought this machine for: that "culinary rack"! I had to purchase repair parts for a Kenmore dishwasher made by this same company, at my sole expense, and retrofit my unit. And it still doesn't clean like it said it would, but after my alterations it does much better, though I still want my money back or one of these newer design models. They have been ok so far, but the dishwasher has been nothing but trouble.
I have had the heating element replaced, and the door hinges replaced. Numerous circuit boards and fuses were also replaced. It has only been installed about 2 years, and we have had at least a dozen service calls--the last 4 in the last 2 months--and it still is not working. The door pops open, it stops mid-cycle even if the door doesn't pop, the dishes are left with food residue on them and a film, they don't dry, the water doesn't drain and is left standing at the bottom, the soap doesn't dispense, and the control panel only works intermittently.
We have a service contract with Sears whose apparently inept techs keep telling me I put in too much soap. I haven't put in any soap for 2 months. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher, as it was said to be the superior make. And in the first few months, we had the repairman out several times. First two times, the manufacturer had left gaps when manufacturing the upper and lower racks. Third repair call was because dishes were etched with a greyish film and dried food was in all the cups, glasses and bowls. We were told to turn up the hot water and use vinegar as a rinse additive. We've always run the hot water beforehand, and turning up the water tank really didn't help. Four years later we have rewashed many dishes and have had to check all glasses for food. Many times we wondered why we had a KitchenAid dishwasher at all. It never got any load completely clean.
Today, I noticed that the design of the interior is part of the problem. At the bottom of the door, when it shuts, there is a 1-1/2 inch lip of steel, and the food and debris gets stuck and dried during the wash and heating cycles. The food debris was also inside the door and in the vent for steam at the front of the door. I don't feel this should be happening, and I don't think removing food particles from inside the panel of the door is considered part of the regular maintenance of the owner. Surely a high end dishwasher should be able to flush food particles away when it drains and rinses.
KitchenAid is a real let-down and huge disappointment of performance, and I have taken wrath from the hobby, as I stuck out for the recommended high quality machine. What a joke! KitchenAid is nothing but no quality and a lot of headaches and mess!

A call to the 800 number put us in touch with the local authorized repair people for an initial call charge of $129, since we did not have the extended warranty. It was determined that the control strip needed replacement and this part was under warranty. The new control strip failed immediately, and a second one was expressed to us in two days. Fine, so far.
This one also failed after two washes and a third one as well, after working for a day or so. We suspected a circuit board malfunction and considerably more cost and time as this isn't under warranty. We said no more, and after a month without a dishwasher, we bought an LG top of the line which actually works and cleans the dishes. No more KitchenAid dishwashers ever. Incidentally, on the first repair visit, we had the guy replace the door pulley and cable, which was creaking and about to fail. This cost another $28 which was money wasted. When we asked, we learned that this door malfunction was common with KitchenAid. In 42 years as a homeowner, this was the poorest performance by a home appliance by quite some, and in fact, the only two dishwashers that ever failed were KitchenAid, although the first one lasted 10 years before the pump leaked.

I’m not sure what's worse; incompetent repairmen, worthless customer service or badly built appliances. I bought it at Sears and would really like to drag it behind my truck down Main Street, dump it in front of the store and send the video to KitchenAid. Thanks for your time.

We had our new KitchenAid dishwasher for 5 years. We have had major repairs on it four times. The total of these repairs almost total's the cost of the dishwasher when we bought it! What has prompted me to write today is yet another brake down this morning, which will be the 5th problem in 5 years. So far, we have had; (1) two electrical issues that were quite expensive (panel related), (2) the heating element snapped for no apparent reason other than being faulty (took weeks to get the part in) and (3) dishwasher stopped draining, and today's issue is that it just failed to start even though the lights were all on!
Additionally, we paid for the extra quiet version (most expensive) of KitchenAid dishwasher because our kitchen is open to the great room. It has become more noisy each year and now, we only run it during the day when we're gone or overnight. Also, the soap dispenser does not open properly many times and we found out that the "completed" load hasn't had any dish soap because of this fault. Lastly, repairmen who actually work on KitchenAid were hard to come by, making the whole process even more difficult.
My recommendation to anyone planning to purchase a new dishwasher is "Do not buy a KitchenAid!"

I purchased a new KitchenAid dishwasher in 2006. I’m not sure of the model number but the fuse and the circuit panel have gone out numerous times. I called the company and they said it might take up to 3 weeks for this to be repaired. It would cost about $150. Three weeks without a DW, I’m thinking about just getting a new one but would never purchase another KitchenAid product again. Customer service said they would give me 15 percent off a new model. Anyone can get 15 percent off just by asking, no thanks KA.

We recently bought a new home that came equipped with beautiful new stainless steel appliances all by KitchenAid. We were very happy with the quality and performance of our appliances until yesterday when the faulty wiring in our dishwasher almost burnt our house down. I turned the dishwasher on before I left to take my children to school. When I arrived home an hour later, the house was filled with the smell of an electrical fire. It was coming from the dishwasher. The dishwasher was still running and would not shut off. I had to turn it off from the breaker. Needless to say, I was very frightened. I would have normally been at work at this time but had chosen to work from home that day. Thank goodness! We alternatively run our dishwasher at night before we go to bed. I thank God that this was not the case as I can only imagine the potential tragedy that may have occurred.
I am very angry that the quality of this product has put my family in jeopardy. This is a very expensive dishwasher, $1,399.99 not including the tax. I would assume that paying more for an appliance would ensure that it would perform safely and last longer than five years. A call to KitchenAid customer service to report the problem yielded little satisfaction as I was basically told "Too bad." We have been informed that the repairs will not be covered under a warranty that expired three months ago. We had it looked at independently at the place of purchase and have been told that, in fact, we will likely need to by a new one as the damage is so great to the electrical system that the cost to repair it would be excessive and they could not be sure it would not happen again.
Normally, we would have looked at buying a KitchenAid or Whirlpool appliance but after this experience, the poor quality of the product, its inability to last more than a few years, and its dubious safety will have me seriously considering other brands. I hope that this is an isolated incident with this product and that it does not happen to another family who may not have the lucky ending than we did.

We have an about 5-year-old KitchenAid dishwasher and about year ago, the plastic clip attached to the nylon string broke sending my two-year-old to the floor. Luckily, I managed to cushion the fall. About 4 months ago, the normal wash cycle stopped draining water and now none do. I have checked the drain hose and motor prop and found it to be okay. I think it's the control module. I was searching the net to find answers to my problem and found this page, to my disbelief that so many people have problems with this pricey dishwasher. KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dishwasher, top-of-the-line (expensive) KUDS02SRSS0 Model type 577-0 was purchased exactly 3 years ago on September 8, 2006. There are the same problems listed with other people on this page - door balance linkage and lanyard snapped, both sides nearly broke my leg as it crashed down. It's very heavy. Trying to get parts - it's expensive shipping more than parts. Why would someone put cheap plastic part on something that will get much human activity naturally opening and closing machine to unload and load. It never has held soap or gel well either as listed by others. I tried natural soaps, liquid, back to Cascade, etc. It doesn't work and the plastic soap door sticks won't always open when running a load. Why use plastic in a $1800-dishwasher? I don't get it. I know they want to make money on parts but this is ridiculous and dangerous. I am surprised the people listed have not written to their respective Attorney Generals of their states. I bought two high-end KitchenAid Superba dishwashers for our new house 5 years ago. I have had nothing but problems with them ever since. Three months after installation, we had to have both motors replaced. The clips that hold the upper drawer in the higher position broke after a year, and the spinning water dispenser on the top fell off on one of them. They have leaked many times, and my dishes never come out clean. I have to pre-wash them if I don't want the glasses to come out with grunge all over the insides (very embarrassing when you offer a guest a drink and have to check all the glasses to find a clean one).
It took us 4 months and many broken glasses to figure out how to fill the top glass drawers so that nothing got broken. And just this week, I got a nice scrape right down my shin when the spring on the door broke and the door fell open. We have custom wood panels on the front and we paid a lot of money for the two duds, so we have been reluctant to buy new ones. We live in the country and have hard water, but we have always lived in areas with hard water and have had many different dishwashers that have cleaned the dishes with no problem (we had a Maytag one that lasted 10 years with hard water and cleaned the dishes perfectly).

But since I have had very bad experiences with dishwashers in the past, I figured I'll pay more for the KitchenAid SS dishwasher, their top of the line integrated one. Within three years, the door came crashing down on my leg because the spring that everyone is coming about must have broken. I see that I'm not the only one with the problem! It still works but every time I open the door, it squeaks and I have to lower the door down so it doesn't crash. I'm just waiting for one of the other problems to arise then I'm definitely changing it to the Bosch I originally wanted. From all these comments I've read, I'm never going to order a KitchenAid appliance again.

I thought I had bought the lemons. I have had problems with all 4 of my KitchenAid appliances, which I bought in 2004. Most recently, on Thursday, my Dishwasher door KUDP01FLSS1 came crashing down when I opened the door to unload the dishes. Thankfully, I was in front of the door to stop it from rocketing down, rather than my dog. If Luke was in front of it, he would have been a goner! This dishwasher has caused me nothing but grief. I've had it serviced a total of 7 times. I've had the fuse replaced 5 times and the control pad replaced twice. The last fuse replacement and control pad replacement was in January 2009.
About a month ago, the normal cycle stopped working and I can only run on heavy light or rinse. This is typically what happens before the fuse or control pad needs to be replaced. There must also be something wrong with the water temperature because I can only get warm at best, even with the high temp scrub activated. My oven, KESC308LSS0, bought at the same time has not worked for about 2 years. Thankfully, I don't use the oven, only the cooktop. One day, the oven heating element quit working. I've had a local service company in trying to fix it, thinking it was a fuse, but after 3 fuse replacements, they couldn't figure out what the problem was, even with the KitchenAid technical support team on the phone.
They started removing pieces and parts and thought it might be something called a harness. They told me they were going to order it. When I called back two months later, after not hearing from them, I decided enough. This is a service issue, but the oven quitting on me is definitely a product issue. Additionally, the black molding around the cooktop has rusted away. I don't think this should have happened with light cleaning of the stove after use. My Microwave convection unit over the stove still works, but with a loud noise when the inner element is rotating. The noise goes away after 4 minutes of continual use.
Lastly, my KitchenAid refrigerator freezer started suffering from ice buildup in the freezer. The service company charged me for a visit and replaced the rubber seal. Two weeks after it was replaced, the ice buildup, although not as much, started to appear again.

After reading the same complaints that we have, I believe the company should be responsible and replace or repair the dishwasher. The plastic mechanism that is used to control the door, which is very heavy, was not disclosed at the time time of purchase. It's obvious that the cables that hold the doors to KitchenAid dishwashers are completely faulty, after reading several complaints of this problem for the month of June 2009 alone! Our 3-year-old KitchenAid dishwasher had the cables replaced three months ago, and the replacement cables broke again last week. Nothing is covered under the original warranty and the replacement parts only have a 90-day warranty (we were at day 89), so the company that made the repair is honoring the warranty, but the parts are likely to fail again because the cable is nylon with a plastic part covering it that seems to be the cause of wearing down the cable (according to our repair company who confirmed the problem is rampant). In fact when they went to pick up the replacement cables today, there weren't any left in the store because they are going like hotcakes... I wonder why?!
I am going to follow-up with KitchenAid, but it doesn't sound like they will do anything to resolve the problem. This is a design failure and the cables are metal on other dishwashers. Unfortunately, KitchenAid does not recommend replacing the cables with metal types, claiming they will not work (according to our repair company who actually looked up the Maytag wire cables and called KitchenAid to ask the question). Either KitchenAid needs to find metal cables that can be used, or pay to replace dishwashers with one's better designed. I'm never buying a KitchenAid again. Here we come Bosch!

So in 2005, when we were remodeling our house, we went to the local appliance store and purchased the all new KitchenAid appliances: dishwasher KUDS01FL556, refrigerator, microwave oven, warming drawer and oven. Fortunately, we did not purchase a KitchenAid range! We nave had nothing but trouble with the microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. We too have had an issue with the dishwasher door as it came crashing down and injured my leg. The motor on the microwave had to be replaced. Our ice machine in the refrigerator went out within six months but the topper is our dishwasher. We have had to have four service calls on it and yesterday, it went out again! The control panel keeps going out. When we have the technicians come out then, they don't have the parts. When the parts come in, a different technician comes out and disagrees with the diagnosis of the first technician. It is ridiculous! I did not buy any warranties on any of my Kitchen Aid appliances because it has had such a good name and I had owned a KitchenAid dishwasher for almost 20 years without any problems. The only reason I purchased a new dishwasher is because I remodeled my house. So, the economic cost is that I have to pay for the technician time and time again and the last time, only two months ago, it cost me $153. The dishwasher cut my leg when the door malfunctioned.

I phoned customer service and they were useless. I found this site and was in shock at how many complaints there are, however now, I know I'm not losing my mind.
It's been a couple of months, but I thought I would post what I did that seems to have fixed the problems with the cooked on food and residue on glassware. I experimented with detergents, rinse aid, water temp, and here's what I've come up with. First, I turned up our hot water heater to almost high. I run the water at the faucet on hot for a minute and continue while I begin the machine. I only use heavy pot/pans cycle for everything. For two weeks, I used about 1/4 cup of baking soda dumped into the bottom of the machine. I also added a little vinegar to the rinse aid (we must have harder water than the machine can handle). I use turbo jet dry rinse aid. Finish Electrasol tabs with red ball is the only detergent that works so far. Sometimes I throw an extra one in to the bottom of the machine. Even the Electrasol powder or liquid gel doesn't work as well. I hope that helps. I don't know how much crap I'm ingesting from having all the rinse aid dried onto the dishes, but they are clean, clear, shiny and beautiful!
My machine is making a very loud grating noise during some loads, and I'm waiting for the door to fall, the heating element to stop working and water to begin leaking, but until then, I'll limp it along. After two weeks, we called the company and booked another service call, since no one from the company had contacted us. On the day of the second service call, the technician said that he had the wrong part and that he would have to order the right part again from the US and that it would take another week to arrive. After waiting two weeks, I called up the company two times in the next two weeks and they said that the part had still not arrived. I called up the store where I brought the appliance from. The store manager talked to the company and booked another service call. I took my day off from work, but no one showed up.
I called the company again and they had no previous record of me calling them. On May 4/09, I got a call from the company again and they told me that they ordered the wrong part again and that I would have to wait for another 3 weeks before booking another service call. I just want to return this product and get another dishwasher from a different company because I just cannot take this anymore. Any help would be much appreciated!

Similar to other complaints I've read, while running our KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUDP01FL), white smoke emanated around the front panel, so we turned it off. In this case, the electronic control board inside the door was charred and two connectors partially melted. KitchenAid agreed to replace the control board, but nothing else is covered. Connectors are part of a harness that will cost >$70 from alternative parts supplier. I would obviously be out a few hundred dollars if I had to also pay for labor from a service contractor.
From reading the various complaints about charred/smoking control boards, I (as an engineer) believe that the design of the control board is marginal or components are marginal/defective. Unfortunately, it would take significant effort to investigate or reverse-engineer the design in order to quantify the design margins, understand the reliability of the parts, and pinpoint the root cause of the failure. The company or subcontractor engineers who designed this board must by now know there is a problem and have some idea of the root cause, but that information is unlikely to reach consumer advocates for legal/financial reasons. I am just doing my civic duty by formally submitting my complaint.

I spent 30 years as an R&D engineer developing numerous products, utilizing tests such as wear depreciation, determining life span of particular equipment.

I purchased a KitchenAid KUDS01FLWH2 dishwasher in 2004. Now it no longer cleans good and leaves a slimy film on the dishes. I practically have to rewash by hand. Just recently, the spring broke on the door and the heavy door now falls to the floor. This is so dangerous. Thank goodness, it did not fall on my child. This door malfunction also happened on my KitchenAid built-in microwave. I'm very disappointed, considering the price I paid for these appliances.

My KitchenAid dishwasher is also a lemon! The horrible film and food left on everything continues to worsen despite using hot water and some white vinegar washes as recommended by the company. I've tried every brand of additive to no avail. I'm so sorry I chose to upgrade my dishwasher. The heavy door is a nightmare.

I have been beating my head against the wall as to why my KitchenAid Stainless dishwasher was leaving a white film on the dishes. I disassembled the bottom end, vacuumed out the crud that got by the screen, made sure the water was getting to all points. It was draining correctly. I tried rinse agents and changing detergents, to no avail. I am a Process Engineer by trade, and this one had me stumped. I get Lake Michigan water, and even added a filter to the water line. I went through a battery of tests, the last one putting in clean, handwashed glasses, only to have them come out cloudy. This told me that it was the dishwasher itself causing the problem.
I would like to say I figured out the problem, but it was my wife who saw what I did not. I was so focused on the flushing, draining and water distribution that I missed it altogether. She said, "It's a chemical reaction," and she was correct. The heating element is the cause. It is made of a material from GE called Calrod which contains magnesium oxide and Aluminum oxide. I believe that the material is defective, and breaking down from a combination of the pH of the soap, and an electrolytic action. I replaced the element, and everything comes out spotless. Remember, who solved this long elusive problem, my very smart and observant wife!

I purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher (Model# KUDIO1IL) in 2004 to replace the low-end unit which came with our house. My initial purchase had been a Bosch (which came highly recommended). The new Bosch left grit and residue on my dishes from day one. I had a repair guy come out twice. He couldn't find a problem, but was amazed that I'd be having a problem with that brand. After a month, I researched brands and decided to replace it with the KitcheAid. The KitchenAid worked fairly well for about 3 years (I say "fairly" because I had to make sure the dishes were placed just so, not too close together, etc.).
After 3 years or so, "cleaned" dishes would sometimes have a residue on them (mainly in the top rack). Now, just this week, none of the dishes in the top rack are getting clean, and I've found the water isn't reaching the inside of the cups and bowls at all. I've checked the holes in the arm, etc. and they are not blocked. I was hoping to find an answer online and came across this site. How discouraging to read the problems people are having with this brand. For all the hours I spend researching different brands, I probably would have done better to draw one out of a hat. The best dishwasher we've ever had was a Maytag stainless that we left with our previous home. We didn't want to spend the extra $200 or so at the time, though. In retrospect, it would definitely have been worth it.

I purchased an extended warranty for my KitchenAid KUDP02IRBT0. The unit was purchased new in Feb. 2007. One year and 3 months later, the unit stopped cleaning dishes and soap remained in the dishwasher undissolved. Ten repairs later by three different authorized repairmen (changed motor, circuit board, water fill valve, water fill shut-off, and many other parts), the unit still does not dissolve the soap. I tried liquid soap, powder soap, tablets. The water temperature is over 150 degrees. The water is run before the dishwasher is started, and smoke comes out of the faucet. Now, over 10 months later, there is still no resolution. I want to exercise the lemon law, but apparently, the same part must fail three times! Nobody is able to fix it, and I am without a washer.
I will have no choice but to take them to small claims unless they resolve this claim and will also be informing the AG Office and Missouri's Department of Insurance, Financial, and Professional Registration. The extended warranty division of KitchenAid will not let the customer speak with the Administrative office directly and take your information down for a call back in 3 to 5 business days. What horrible support and poor customer service. I will never buy another KitchenAid or Whirlpool.

We have a model #KUDS24SE Dishwasher. The racks, both upper and lower, are rusting at the joints. To replace is an outrageous price, $120 for lower, $130 for upper plus tax, plus shipping. Since we have owned the product for more than 5 years, we are stuck. I looked on eBay, no luck. For a few hundred more, we can buy a new dishwasher. It won't be KitchenAid or its owner, Whirlpool, especially after reading about all the door problems. KitchenAid used to be a good product.

I purchased KitchenAid dishwasher, model number KUDPO1FLSS, in January '05. About 6 months ago, one nylon cord holding the door up broke. I scheduled an appointment for a fix still under warranty and while waiting for part, the other cord broke. Both were fixed under warranty; however, the door's falling apparently compromised the very heavy stainless steel door panel and the screws that hold it are all stripping out now. It is being held by two screws at the top and is obviously a safety hazard. Soon it will come off. I was told by the repairman that I would not be covered under warranty for that because it is cosmetic. The door hinges (nylon and plastic) are obviously design flaws and should be recalled. Unfortunately for me, my door panel has been affected by this flaw or perhaps the door panel is also faulty on its own and this will probably result in my trashing this dishwasher.

I own a KitchenAid Dishwasher Model Number KUDR01TJ. This is a high end expensive dishwasher with stainless steel interior. I have owned over 20 apartments and placed at least that many dishwashers. The KitchenAid is by far the worst while it is the most expensive. I have replaced the pump motor after about 2 years - assuming that this would make the unit work for a long time to come. 2 years later, the controller went out. Because the unit is only a few years old, I thought I should fix that. Then the touch panel went out. Now, the water does not stop anymore and runs out of the dishwasher over the hardwood floor.
First I thought somebody had put utensils in the basket that kept the float down. So I took the small utensil holder out. A week later, same thing happened again. The whole kitchen floor under water. The water does not stop even if you shut the machine off. So I have to shut the main water valve off. That tells me the water valve is hanging.
I have spent $700.00 on the machine and also $680.33 in parts and still need to purchase the valve at a cost of $48.92. Luckily, I do not have to call a service man every time. I have repaired many appliances myself having lots of rental units. The result is that I either buy a new dishwasher NOT FROM KITCHENAID, or fix this one, one more time. By now everything on the machine is new. I also have a ruined hardwood floor that needs sanding and coating. All in all, I probably have over $2,000.00 in repairs on the washer and the floor damage and still need to buy a new washer.

We have a 5 year old KitchenAid Superba dishwasher that ran great the first year, then the handle broke. We were under a service agreement so it was fixed with no problem. The last 2 1/2 years it has not cleaned the dishes without having service every 2 months to clean out the food screen. They keep telling us not to put things with paper labels in, to use a different soap, to use the hot water cycle, to run our hot water first. We practically wash our dishes before we put them in the dishwasher and there is never a label in there! I wish I had read this site before buying this piece of junk. It was around $1,000 and is the worst money we ever spent. I called KitchenAid, and they suggested a different service company which would not be part of our contract. When I called, they said they would do the same thing already being done but charge us for it. I will be out dishwasher shopping this week. I will not be looking at KitchenAid and will sure pass this on!

On October 14, 2008 at 1:15 AM my Kitchenaid Dishwasher almost burnt down my house and killed everyone and everything in it. Fortunately, I was still awake and standing at my sink when I heard a loud pop, and then black, smelly, toxic smoke began to pour out of the door of the dishwasher near the control panel. I tried to turn it off, and it would not shut off--it just kept smoking. I called the Fire Department and they responded quickly. When the fire department arrived, they could not stop the dishwasher -- they turned off the breaker, disconnected the dishwasher and removed it outside while it was still smoking. The stench was horrible - I am so worried about my birds. The fireman said that if I was asleep, it would have burst out in flames & the damage would have been unthinkable.
I feel completely violated by Kitchenaid. This was their top of the line dishwasher that was stainless steel on the inside and had a special sanitizing rinse (I bought this for my birds). I called Kitchenaid this past July concerned that my Sanitized light was blinking instead of staying on. I paid for a service call. The factory service company told me that their was nothing wrong. This is the area of the control panel that started burning. I contacted the Product Safety division of Kitchenaid, and they sent out their service company to check out why it started burning.
The entire control panel (the brain) and much more burnt. According to the technician’s notes: part failure - main board, touch pad, fuse, sub panel, harness/wire assembly, sub control panel, sub fuse kit, and pump and motor----what is left that didn't have a product failure!!! This is well-documented by the factory service technician as well as the fire department. The technician told me that this was one in a million -- that he has seen dryers catch fire, but never a dishwasher. After reading this website, I see that I am not alone, and that the consumer is in danger. On the documentation I received, Kitchenaid gave the Service company the following instructions: Caught Fire at Control Panel/Verify/Diagnose/Document Carefully. The man said Kitchenaid wanted them to order parts and fix it, but I don't want this dishwasher back. It's a ticking time bomb. Something need to be done to get the word out and warn consumers.
I still don't know the full extent of what my damages will be with my birds and how much it will cost to get the horrible smell out of my furniture, cabinets, drapes, etc. I have already talked to companies regarding smoke damage removal, and most companies use chemicals or processes that would kill my birds, so everything would have to be removed for days to work on.

When the man came out to repair the dishwasher door, I had him do a maintenance check on the dishwasher and refrigerator. A few weeks later and money thrown down the drain so to speak...... I was at home, my two kids were asleep for the night. My husband was out of town, and I turned on my dishwasher! A horrible smell started reeking from my kitchen aid dishwasher! I went to check on it to see what in the world was causing this problem, there was nothing that I could see that was causing the problem. I left the dishwasher door a tad open so that it would not start again. The next day when they went to school, I started my dishwasher.... Or I tried. It would not start at all! I called the repair place where I bought the dishwasher and they never once mentioned that this is the common problem with the dishwasher!
I am very upset for I purchased this dishwasher, then designed my kitchen and its appliances around it. I loved the appearance of the dishwasher. I have been without a dishwasher for two weeks now, trying to get someone to call me back and get this taken care of. The repair man came out today and he replaced the circuit and it started to burn and steam and stink!

The repair man already tested our water and recommended Cascade powder and rinse agent which is the brand and types we have been using all along. We have owned many dishwashers before this one, namely GE brands, and our glassware always came out sparkling clean. We were living in the same house with the same water conditions when we had the GE dishwasher just prior to the KitchenAid, so it's not a problem with the water.
