So disappointed in these products. We purchased Utile surround and waited over 2 weeks for it to arrive. We picked it up and installed it, only to find out the back panel was warped and bowed out in center and would not fit properly. Obviously this faulty fiberglass unit was sent to us from manufacturer warped out of shape. We had our bathroom down to studs and no surround. Tried to return it but Home Hardware wouldn't take returns during covid. $1000 spent and no refund. We couldn't wait 2 more weeks for another. So we purchased the Nextile surround. Another $600 spent. This one installed ok but is shaped very oddly. It sticks out into the tub and forced you to stand to the other side of tub. We are so not happy with these products. Terrible experience and we are stuck with something we hate. Don't waste your money or your time on these products. You will be very disappointed. I'm very disappointed and left with a bathtub surround I hate.

Good afternoon Valerie'
We are very sorry about the inconvenience. However, did you got in contact with warranty service at Maax or did Home Harware did? When it is a manufacturing defect, we have no proble to repair if possible and if not to replace the product.
Can you please send me your information and information of the unit (serial number, copy of receipt)?
I will verify our service requests to see what happened.

My wife and I purchased Soft gray Utile Walls by MAAX at my local Menards store. My wife and I were so excited for this option to create our dream bathroom look after purchasing our house a little over a year ago. We were happy to find this option since real tile is so much more expensive. This looks really good until you get down to the quality of material and poor customer service that "stands" behind the product. The product has a thin layer of plastic stuck to it covering the walls to protect it from getting dirty until you're ready to use it I assume. The instructions tell you to wait to remove it until after the shower system is all installed. We hired a licensed plumber and also a contractor to install the shower and finish the drywall around the new shower after it was installed.
With the new shower installed we peeled off the protective plastic layer as instructed and what we found underneath on one of the Maax utile sidewalls was extremely extremely upsetting. We found several spider cracks throughout the shower wall, some of them extending almost the width of the wall. Obviously we couldn't see these with the protective plastic on it, so to find this after everything was installed was incredibly defeating.
I contacted Maax customer service right away. On the phone while filing the warranty claim they told me it sounds like it's stress cracks from it getting stepped on at the factory or during transport to the store. In the email after I sent the pictures they confirmed it is stress cracks from it being damaged during manufacturing or transport to the store. They said it can't be repaired but it has to be replaced. They said the only way for it to be replaced was to rip up my bathroom of the finished drywall, Uninstall my maax shower door that I paid a lot of money to have someone install, take the wall back to Menards to replace it with a new one.
I told them that is unacceptable to me and my wife and I just spent our savings for this bathroom remodel putting our trust in their product. We would have to have our bathroom out of service until we could save up enough to once again to pay someone a lot of money to reinstall everything over an issue with their product they supposedly "stand by" that we could not control. Incredibly upsetting and unacceptable. I emailed them letting them know if we could receive a replacement side wall so we have it on hand to replace it when we have the funds to do so we would be 100% satisfied. They never responded after that. Our dream bathroom was turned into regret, dissatisfaction and disgust for the Maax brand after this experience.

Purchased an Aker KDS 3460 for a bath remodel. At the price point I am disappointed in the quality control.
- The "feet" on the bottom of the pan section were about 1" too short and did not contact the floor.
- The fiberglass on the bottom of the pan unit was extremely rough and uneven. The fiberglass on the back of the wall units was smooth and even.
- The flanges on the walls varied by 1/4" from top to bottom.
The overall design of the unit is nice but the above issues made the installation very difficult. If I did not need to get the bathroom back together I would have returned it and bought a different product.

Corner shelf was damaged so I called co. Agent was great. Took information and within a few days new corner shelf was delivered. As installers continued to work on shower they discovered a damaged stationary door. I once again called co and once again agent was great. Told me no problem and within a couple of days door arrived. Dealing with this co was wonderful. Other than a little inconvenience they were great. Definitely would order from them again.

Ordered 3 Utile shower walls for a bathroom renovation that we have been saving for a long time. After bathroom was torn apart and ready for installer and preliminary work had been done, the tiles were about to be installed. We found out that we had 2 tiles the correct color and one completely different color. Contacted them immediately 2 days ago and have been going back and forth. They have FINALLY decided to send another tile the correct color but it will be almost a 3 week wait. (It should have been on its way 2 days ago). We have no shower in our house due to this incompetence. Somehow, they don't seem to care or they would have it expedited to me.

Good morning Glenda,

I replaced my shower with the exact shower that was previously in the space (I needed it out of the way for another reason). The kit came with a MAAX no-caulk shower drain, and the installation diagram provided showed the gaskets being installed in the wrong location.. This led to a leak into the floor and wall that went unnoticed for months. I now have to replace the shower (again), and repair the water damage. The installation instructions are crap. If MAAX can't even provide correct instructions for install, think about the quality of the product. Buy something else.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and damage that occur.

They consistently have a new rep respond back for us to send the same information again... we have done this 4 times and all we get back is please resend the same data!!! This tub was for my special needs son, I believed the product claims on the MAAX website and am sorry to say I am one of many with a cracking MAAX tub for which the company will not reimburse to have a new replacement tub installed. I will continue to fight for our consumer rights to be heard.
Updated on 08/18/2020: Per my previous review of the MAAX tub cracking in less than 2 years... MAAX said they would contact me on 8/10, eight days later I have not received any phone call or email. I would NOT recommend any MAAX product due to lack of quality, poor customer service and the absolute refusal to stand behind their product and pay for the entire replacement process.
Original review: Our MAAX tub started cracking less than two years after installed and all Maax will do is reimburse for the cost of the tub. Obviously someone has to remove the tub and install a new one yet Maax doesn’t stand by their product enough to do the logical and smart customer service thing and pay for the entire replacement process. We have two more bathrooms to remodel and they have lost a customer for life!

So I bought and installed a acrylic shower base. And installed base walls, door, drywall completely finished. Homeowners were completely satisfied. Then I get a call. The Homeowner sat down to shave her legs. When she noticed a crack in the base. So I go look at it and sure enough a crack. Called the manufacturer telling them about it. To which they replied, "We can send you a new base." I then asked if they could send someone out to look at it and possibly repair. "No we can't fix that model."
Really that's the hardest part to replace 3-4 days ripping out new walls, tile surround and material costs. Yup and, "Sorry we can't help with any of them costs." In other words I am out a lot of time and money because of this product. I don't understand how a company can have a product that is this expensive to replace and no way to repair. At least eat some of the repair costs. Instead they want to give me a $10-20 their cost new pan and say good luck.

We are very sorry about the inconvenience.

Both of the 36 SKD showers that were installed in our house are leaking on to the outside wall because of the same at the base. It is impossible to keep the wall and the floor outside the shower dry. We have had three plumbers and one shower specialist review the problem. They have tried caulking several times but the problem continues. In my opinion this is a defective product.

Is it possible to give us your complete contact information and information on the units (serial numbers)?
The shower is not supposed to leak behind the unit. The only ways are if the unit is cracked or if the silicone was not put between each side at the installation.
Putting sillicone after the fact could help but is is not the solution, the shower will need to be reinstalled.
We will however send a service technician to confirm.
Thank you,

Maax was very quick to respond. After discussing the problem with their technical support agent, I was offered a free replacement of the wall pieces, shipped to me at no cost. I also received some advice on the type of adhesive to use, advice which should be included in the installation manual. Although we are now confronted with the inconvenience of replacing the walls, I feel that the company did its best to resolve the issue, especially since the unit was well out of warranty.
Original Review: May 10, 2020
We were quite happy with this unit until... The unit developed a crack in the wall starting from the opening for the control. The Maax agent that we spoke with said that the unit is not intended for an unheated space, and it is the responsibility of the retailer to inform the customer. We disagree. That is completely unreasonable, especially when ordering online. The warning should be in the online product description, when a consumer is making a choice. Anytime other than that is too late. We have the original manual. NOWHERE does it say that the shower is not intended for use in an unheated space. We are now faced with inconvenience and a troublesome and likely costly repair. NOT ACCEPTABLE!

The Stirling Silver Apron did not blend well with vanity and flooring. It’s a 2 piece tub and the aprons are sold as replacement parts....so it is a stocked unit. Surely, it wouldn’t be difficult to swap out the apron.
Maax replied to my request with an unequivocal NO. Their response “We do understand you request, however, we need to follow our Return Policy, 25% restocking shall be applied at all times.” Unbelievable!!! Summer 2018 we were excited to finally be renovating our 20 year old bathroom, which was functional with no leaks, but dated. I loved the easy installation and maintenance promised by MAXX and their Utile product. We purchase the "New" Utile Tub/Shower and also their recommended New Town tub. We hired a very experienced contractor who had the year previous renovated our whole basement with kitchen, bathroom (including walk-in floor to ceiling tile shower), flooring, drywall, etc. and 3 years later no problems. MAXX markets Utile as a do it yourself project. This was a very seasoned contractor with hundreds of bathtub installs to his credit. Within a couple of months of the install I noticed that the drywall on one exterior corner where the tub and Utile wall met the paint was bubbling off the drywall. We have a curved shower curtain rod so no water is going on to the outside corner of the bathtub and puddling.
With further investigation I noticed that the caulking was not sticking to the tub. I called my contractor. He removed the old silicone, applied new and fixed the drywall and paint. It was good for about 4 months then I started to have a leak on both exterior corners where the Utile and tub met. I called MAXX this time and they had a service technician take a look. The tech reported back to MAXX and then neither of us heard from them for a month. I had the tech follow up with MAXX and they said they had spoken to me, which was not true. I called MAXX and the customer service rep said they had determined that it was not a warranty issue. He said the contractor must have used the wrong or bad silicone. I asked if there was a specific silicone that you should be using and he said only 100% silicone and to keep trying different ones until we found one that worked.
I said we had tried 2 brand new tubes of 100% silicone and so far neither had worked. He also said that the tub is shiny so to use wet sandpaper and rough up the area and then clean with alcohol and see if the silicone will stick then. I told him that there is obviously a defect with their product if silicone won't stick and that they should be taking responsibility for the damage under warranty. This is supposed to be a dyi project! He said he would report it to his Manager. I asked if I could have his Managers name and ext., he said he wasn't in the office and he would pass it on. I asked if I could have his name and ext and he said that he didn't have one and that there are 5 C/S reps that just move around desks. This has ended up being a huge disappointment and expense which is still ongoing over 1 year later.

A couple of years ago we purchased & installed a MAAX corner shower. We've had good success with it so when we were looking for a tub surround we looked at MAAX again. We purchased a MAAX Panama 59" Tub Surround at Home Depot a while ago. When we tried to install it the corner panel edges where it overlaps the flat panels wouldn't come any closer than about 1/4" away from the wall. Looks like they were warped out. This left a large gap the full length of the overlap that would have looked terrible had we tried to fill it. Contacted MAAX & they sent us out replacement corners no questions asked. They arrived a few days later.
The problem is one of them isn't square. Looks like it was cut crooked so when I tried to install it to get it flat against one wall I have to leave a unacceptable gap at the bottom around the corner. The edge on the other panel isn't cut straight. It looks like they tried to cut it with a straight edge & knife but part way down the straight edge slipped. After reading these reviews I'm starting to think we lucked out with the shower & that our Tub Surround experience is closer to the norm. Next week I'm off to buy a different one. Hopefully I can find one the same colour so I don't have to replace the flat panels.

The part names in the list are not used consistently in the manual so you have to go back to the pictures to see if it is correct. When I needed to order a replacement part and entered my model number on the site, it could not find it. I entered the part number from the manual and it could not find it. I called to get a panel assembly part and the rep asked why I needed it, and I said I want to change the orientation, he then said "Sounds like someone did not read the instructions".
I said that is not relevant and not why I called. I did not need his condescending judgemental attitude. He then told me the part was $95.00 for what is two pieces of metal with clear rubber seals. I said I only paid $450 for the door, this costs is ridiculous. He explained I could not just get the seals, and I understand but $95.00 for a screw to hold the glass in place was crazy. We purchased the Talen shower from Maax and had it installed in 2014. The shower door is very cheaply made. In five years, we've had to fix the top roller assembly at least four times. They're made of PLASTIC, and the piece in the assembly that keeps breaking is extremely flimsy (whose Nobel prize winning idea was that, anyway?). The rest of the assembly is still intact, but this tiny, thin piece keeps breaking roughly once a year. So imagine standing naked in the shower and holding a door that suddenly broke while you tried to close it.
The first time it broke I called them and they sent me a set of replacement assemblies, no charge. The bottom roller assembly was included when they sent them, but they've never broken and we can't use them for the top. Well, both of the top assemblies on one door broke again today and I was short a piece to fix it. When I called, I was told I had to order the entire assembly when all I needed was that tiny, flimsy piece. They aren't able to send it separate, and I had to spend money. If we'd known what we know now we'd never have bought it. What a thing to look forward to while we have it. The only reason we don't change the shower at this point (and believe me, we'd like to since this is frustrating) is that we can't afford to.
In our opinion, this is a defect in the door from the manufacturer. They should replace the pieces for free since it's their cheap, cost cutting measures that results in the door constantly breaking. It's a miracle that the door hasn't shattered when the piece broke. We had a shower installed in our previous residence and the assemblies were all metal (it wasn't a MAAX product, though). As a result we never had the problem we're having with this shower. Bottom line? AVOID MAAX!

It was not until 9/23 that they contacted the technician company, Absolute Home Solutions, to request that someone come out to our house. The technician then did not show for two consecutive days (9/25) and (9/26). The technician went to another house instead and said he couldn’t come out until October 1st. When I called the customer service at Maax Aker on 9/26 they tried to say it was my fault that I hadn’t called sooner and that they had no record of a claim.
I asked to speak to the supervisor and somehow he was already gone for the day. I said I would call again the next day even though the customer service representative said his supervisor would have a meeting. I will continue to call. The tub and floors are under a 1 year warranty. They need to be restored or replaced promptly. Tubs do not get two holes in 6 months. Will Maax honor their name and product by replacing a faulty tub? Will they replace brand new wood floors and address possible mold from tub-caused flooding and their slow response/lack of mitigation to dry out the floors? This reviews remains a 1 star until these things are properly restored.

The Hana rectangular pivot door is listed as compatible with the 4234 base (see bottom of https://maax.com/en-ca/product/hana-rectangular-pivot-shower-door-42-x-34-x-75-in%2c-d-%2c-8-mm_137302). It is not. My first issue was that, with the prescribed 3/4" setback of the u-channel from the wall, the return panel sat over the edge of its sill by 1/8". This would have led to stability issues down the road. MAAX sent a field representative to inspect our install (base attached to studs, 1/2" tile backer on studs, 1/4" tile on mortar), and he agreed that the design was incompatible. In fact, he said he would not proceed with the install.
After three months of back and forth, and the intervention of a plant manager in our area, MAAX refunded the cost of the door kit (not the base). I was left to jury rig something, and ended up putting a piece of 3/4" u-channel behind the fixed panel jamb to move the relative position of the return panel to the middle of its sill. Now I'm facing another issue: the glass inserts a mere 5mm into the jambs (which are 35mm deep!). This is not far enough to even catch the plastic jamb sheath! Why on earth build a jamb that is 35mm deep when only 5mm is used?!?! Our contention from the outset has been that the glass is too short. I'm not sure how MAAX is going to fix this; I'm not sure that they even can... I wanted a new shower. I'm left with frustration and disgust. :-(

I purchased the MAAX shower walls to replace my shower/tub enclosure. The MAAX shower walls are flimsy and the area where the walls meet the shower pan are curvy/bowed. Because the walls attach to studs there is nothing seeming to secure the bottom back wall to the shower pan. Caulking it doesn’t help because it moves. I have a handicapped daughter and I took the bath out and replaced it with this product and it has been terrible. I paid 3000 and just want my money back and choose a more solid product. I cannot afford to replace and the store will not take it back since it’s been installed. Don’t buy this product. Go the extra 1000 and buy something solid in my opinion.

We are sorry about the inconvenience and trouble as this is the first time we see this kind of damage to our utile walls.

Don't purchase Maax complete shower units. We bought Stamina-I shower unit about 10 years ago. About a year ago we had issues with water leaking from the diverter that controls water to overhead, handheld shower and body jets. I called Maax customer support for parts and they told me that the part is discontinued. I took the part to multiple local (Massachusetts USA) and checked with online plumbing suppliers and no one can identify the manufacturer or provide equivalent part. Maax customer support does not give me original manufacturer of the valve after repeated requests.
Bottomline, I may have to rip out the whole shower that may cost me $15k. Don't purchase Maax as they do not have any long term support unlike Kohler where they actually sent me a whole new valve for free after 15 years. As a homeowner, I expect plumbing parts to be standardized and easily available so I don't have to change the whole shower just because one valve has failed. That is like removing the whole sink because faucet is dripping! Think long term and you are better off with established companies who will support their parts.

Good morning Abbas,
We are very sorry about the inconvenience and delays.I am not sure why you were not informed with the information on the manufacturer of the valve.
You have the IES 3/4 that was manufactured by the company SOL.
The product was discontinued in 2008. Unfortunately, we only have available the thermostatic cartridge.
Any other parts we don't have in stock anymore.
If you have questions, you can send them directly to me at mariusadrian.matei@maax.com

I had to take her to ER doctor as she was shattered with blood pressure went high and it was absolutely nightmare to see her like this. @MAAX, What would you do if it happens to your close family members? First I send an e-mail to Maax and no one replied. Then I called. We just bought a house in June and it came with a nice Maax Collection shower in our Master Bedroom/Bathroom. There is 3 Jet features in that shower.. The regular jet, Then 6 Kind of Pressure wash jet and the last one is 10 Mini Jet in the corner where there is a little ledge for us to sit and it does kind of massage your back.
Totally happy with the shower.. But within a month of moving in there was water dripping from the ceiling of the room in the basement right below the Shower upstairs in our master Bathroom. We did not knew what the problem was at first.. so we called a Reno Company that came and did a Square in the basement room in the drywall ceiling to see where the water is coming from.
We tried all 3 options of the Maax shower and that last option was the issue. The 10 Mini Jet in the Corner. As soon as I tried that option water was leaking in the basement so the issue was not from the Pipe but from the shower. Plus because of the water in the room downstairs we now have Mold on the Baseboard. So we got a Plumber to come and check where the Leak was coming from.. He had to make a new hole upstairs in the drywall next to the shower and he saw right away that the pins holding the Pipe system for that Shower Option (10 Jet Stream) was loose. Then he realized that the Plastic Pipe had a big crack in it so we need to replace that part.
Now the house is only 7 years Old. It's not Maax responsibility to pay for the drywall repair downstairs or the Plumber fees but Maax equipment is the main reason for our water problem/Hole in drywall. We were just inquiring is there could be at least a complimentary Plastic Pipe that could be ship to our home so the Plumber can finish the job he started? But when I called they don't make parts for this anymore. And neither could someone suggested a place to look. Sorry.. Have fun with your broken plastic pipe that we don't make anymore.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and trouble. May I ask your email address so we can search for the pictures you have sent?
Have you sent also the serial number or copy of the receipt to Maax?
Parts, like jets and hoses (accessories) are only warrantied two years and if there is damage to the house, it always needs to go through your house insurance to make sure it is not voided.
Thank you for your time and patience,
We will definitely see how we can help

The reship door came in but walls had not come in yet as of May 28. Inquired with menards and also spoke with Maax who stated it was lost at the distribution center. I assume they never found it or maybe it was never ordered because they reshipped it on May 30th. I'm not sure because I was told they would keep me posted by cc'ing me on emails they were sending to menards regarding the matter. I never received any emails or calls from either Maax or menards.
All inquiries were done by me. I tracked the order on June 3 and it showed delivered and when we went to pick it up, the back wall was damaged. Again I was told that menards would email them to reship. Again I am waiting. Communication is so important and it just takes an email or a call to explain what is happening. Sure am I frustrated, yes, I only have one bathroom and have been without a shower/bath for a month now. We have had to rent a shower and it is not cheap. I'm not sure who is at fault, but looking for someone to explain and resolve this situation. Very frustrated customer!!

Purchased complete Maax Davana neo-angular shower from Home Depot, base-walls and glass doors. Removed existing shower, the new base is larger so will sit on tile at front. I purchased 2 bags of good mortar and made a perfect level floor to sit the Maax base on from tile back to corner. Waste of time, the Maax neo-angle base is defective!!! The poor quality pipe system Maax uses as levels under its base was missing one pipe...right at the front where the door opens.
Calls to Maax took an hour. After being on hold 30 minutes the tech "couldn't see" my base, transferred me to someone who could. That guy suggested I pour more mortar. No help - just wanted to send a tech in 1-2 weeks time to fix the defective BRAND NEW BASE. I had already installed the drain (ABS - yellow glue) or the whole shower would have been returned to Home Depot. So I built up the area where missing base leg is with mortar. Went ahead and installed the base. Of course this morning the base CREAKS when I step on it. I have to remove the installed base or inject foam to support it. Wish I purchased an Ove shower. Same price - far better quality.
Maax instructions give a tech support #, Monday to Friday, 8-6 Eastern Time. Maax closes at 5pm. Maax instructions for drain say to follow manufacturer's instructions, these are not included and the brand/model of the square drain are not included. Maax had me send copy of receipt, picture of defective base, serial #...then wanted me to wait for a tech to call and make an apt to fix the base. Had Maax shipped a new base Friday I would have waited for its arrival and not be faced with mortar/foam fixes for a $1500 shower! Mike **

Nothing but issues since installing this $3,000 jetted tub 1 year ago - from one of the jets not working, back/neck jets spray water out of the tub when you're not directly on the jets, the knob for the back/neck jets were extremely hard to turn to open the valve and the pump is very loud and directly under your lounge area. MAAX sent out a great service warranty guy, who after 3 service calls, replaced the valve and replaced the know with a different style, had to remove the jet nozzles for the back/net jets. Basically I now have a very expensive jetted tub, where I don't use the jets unless I want very loud noise when in use (not zen at all). If I could easily remove this tub and replace with another brand I would.

We are sorry about the inconvenience. Is it possible to give me the reference number that Maax gave you? In private of course. This way I will be able to see how we can help and see if there was anything that could be done differently. We know the knob can be difficult to turn because of the pressure of the water and unfortunately, the pump can be loud as it is a motor. However, if there is anything that Maax can do to help with the experience, please let me know.

When installing a Utile system never ever ever use the styrofoam base. It will squeak and drive you nuts. Also they don't make a compression drain for it which you need for a concrete floor. MAAX does not tell you but the walls must be clicked together if you have no ceiling height. You have to put the walls together on the floor and lift them on to the base. No easy task. Be sure and put down felt to slide them on. They don't put enough holes in so you can reverse the locking pins which would allow the walls to hold the back and make it much easier. Also you need a 33" opening or the flange might stick out. Finally I would not recommend silicone. There are better caulkings.

We bought an Acrylic MAAX Elan Tub Surround from Home Depot on special order due to the ‘superior’ acrylic material. It arrived with the box showing some signs of abuse (tears and crushed corners). Poor packaging in my opinion - on opening the package it turned out one of the corner pieces was broken along the lower corner seam for a length of about 6”. The box looked like it had been taped shut by a young child who had never used tape before. We dealt with that by applying silicone sealant along the crack.
The bigger issue is how stiff and warped the corner pieces are when installed. No amount of glue or tape will keep the seams even close to flush with the wall panels while the glue cures. There are gaps of nearly 1/4” along much of the vertical seams of both corner pieces. It’s hard to believe silicone sealant will make that watertight for long. This was not a problem when we installed a similar unit from another manufacturer when we bought our house some years ago. The professional installer did his best but now we regret paying a premium for acrylic material on special order. I wish I had seen this website before we bought a MAAX tub surround.

Updated on 04/19/2019: Not the best design. Well I got the Maax shower doors up and it was quite the job. The magnet is not strong enough to hold the door closed, and yes I have it turned the right way. I gave my Maax base to the dumpster. I was contacted by Maax and told I would be given a refund for the base but after my Utile review that all changed and no refund. I didn't ask for a refund to begin with just want people to know about the base. On the doors would suggest you check out the Coastal brand doors at Lowe's, seem to have a better system.
Updated on 04/05/2019: Well after having to replace the base with a Delta base I started on the walls hoping for a better experience. The back wall was warped and did not go together as it should. I worked for an hour trying to make it go together right. It a great concept if it only worked. It came flimsy packed and very hard to handle. I usually check reviews but saw this at Menards and assumed it was good, I can't believe they sell it. I can't wait to find out how the doors go.
Original review: Worst shower base on the market! I purchased the walls, base and door at Menards. The bae base had to have concrete under it. It was so flimsy, it had a crack when taken out of the box. Since it was the base of the job and would be so hard to replace later I figured a $300 loss now was my best option. I'm in Alberta, I purchased a Maax tub 34"x72" for over $2000 that had the air jets around the base with like 100 ports cheaply glued from the outside and they shipped it with just wrapped on the top edges and the bottom was fully exposed. Second we installed the tub with professional plumbing person. Tested the tub for leaks and the noticed one air jet completely popped off the tub. We drained it. Called Maax and about 2 weeks then parts come. Tech guy was great and fixed it. We put the tub back and installed the drain again and let it sit overnight. Next day we filled it up about 6 inches and it leaked again about 4 inches from the other first leak.
Now I'm currently waiting to have this second fix done but I really don't think this was ever tested as it was stated on the warranty that they test these tubs etc. There is no way on earth this tub was tested as there is multiple leaks and still haven't filled it up to the over flow part yet. You can see the light right through the tub. It's like an 1/8inch wall thickness. I bet if you jump in the tub your foot will go right through it. I'm Still waiting to have this fixed.
First time the tub failed I sent pictures of the water damaged and they refused to help with the damage repairs just the tub repair. They didn't even come see the tub yet they made a decision not to help and told me I put too much water into the tub which was about 5 to 6 inches of water and they will not help pay to fix the ceiling into the kitchen that was caused by the failed parts and made a decision without coming to the job site. Yet they say they test these tubs but they never did. The fitting popped right off and looks like there wasn't any glue for almost 75% of that jet port.
Don't buy MAAX anything. They will not help with damage repairs caused by their failed not tested tubs. Also please note they are in Headquarters are in Quebec so they are very sheltered from lawsuits as every province except Quebec works together and most USA states. Example if I sue MAAX in Alberta and get a judgement for damages I have to go to Quebec court to file and have that judgement acknowledged and go do the process in Quebec as well as Alberta. Very sad that I have about half a bucket of water come out ruin the ceiling as I watched it leak and drained water as fast as I could to control the damage but Maax turns a blind eye to help fix the water damage. That's what your warranty is for and insurance MAAX. Thanks for the ultra thin walled cheap tub that leaks.

Updated on 04/01/2019: Posted a review last month that summarized an issue with a professionally installed Maax KDS-3460 Shower Alcove. Maax customer service has responded promptly and courteously. They are sending a certified factory trained Technician to exam the unit and determine the cause. Note that the three star rating I've assigned this Update is solely for Maax's quick response and dispatching of a Technician (Apr 10th appointment), at this time the resolution of the issue is still in progress. We are satisfied with Maax Customer Service's quick response and scheduling of a Technician visit to evaluate the situation. However, we as the end customer do hope for an equitable resolution that ultimately results in the problem being fixed at no expense to us since we paid for professional installation. I would further mention that the installer, while being a professionally licensed plumber, is not affiliated with Maax.
Original Review: Had a Master Plumber do a bath remodel job, recommended Aker by Maax KDS 3460 alcove shower for our remodel. The plumber sourced it from a plumbing supply wholesaler, not a retail home improvement store. First thing we noticed is on the back wall piece in bright light you can see the strand patterns of the fiberglass substrate on the acrylic finish. The finish doesn't have that smooth as glass look like traditional gel coat. You can literally see the random zigzag pattern of the fiber strands under the acrylic. But that's not the big thing.
The floor of the shower base flexes under foot during use. It feels very very cheap and low quality, like we've bought a thin plastic shower. We just bought this home and this remodel was part of our move-in customization. After noticing the problem when we started using the shower, we called the plumbing company and they come back out. They went into crawl space to attempt to fix the problem. Whatever they did didn't work, still flexes like crazy, right where you stand and move your feet around while showering. Couple times a loud shrill snap sound has been made when it flexes, as if a fiber strand broke under tension (?...) Neither of us are overweight. She's about 150 lbs. I'm around 200. This is outrageous. I'd leave a 1/2 star review if I could, not even worth one star.

I ordered the Utile surround wall tile 3 times, only to have it cracked or damaged every time it arrived. I feel for an almost $900 product (just the 3 walls) this product should be packaged better. There was NO packaging with the exception of approximately 1" of styrofoam around the edges. Unfortunately, that 1" of styrofoam isn't enough to protect it from the damage from shipping. Too bad MAXX can't improve on their packaging, because this certainly lost my sale. We will now be doing individual tiles instead.

I've had this shower for a number of years now and it has been leaking water since day one. I should've brought it back at the time but I didn't want to go through the trouble of taking it apart. I just figured a little caulking would fix it but this is like 4 years later and I'm still applying caulking to other seams that decided to start leaking. I clearly remember in the instructions that you only had to apply caulking in the back where the base meets the wall panels...and also the vertical seam where the two back panels meet, but this thing leaks everywhere. Pretty sure my warranty is up now so I'll just keep applying caulking, even though I shouldn't have to. Just wanted to give a heads up to whoever is thinking about purchasing this shower. Don't do it.

I am in the process of installing this tub in my 2nd floor bath. After doing all the prep work following the instructions to the letter, I am finding that it is impossible to install the tub without the MAAX F2 drain kit. There is no picture of the drain kit in their manual nor do they emphasize the importance of using this drain kit for existing homes. They show a lot of detail on a standard drain - which I followed - but apparently will require that you have access underneath the floor. The only solution I can think of without ripping my tiled floor apart and redoing some plumbing is to cut a hole on the side of the Tub skirt so I have access to the piping. Maax needs to do a better job with their instructions. I spoke to them about this and they kept saying I should have had a plumber install it. That response does not help me.

Recently my wife and I noticed the floor of our tub is starting to flex and have hairline cracks in it. I contacted a tub repair person and they came to have a look and quote me for the repair. The repair person informed me that it is a MAAX tub and that this is a very common problem for them and that he has repaired the floor of approximately 30-40 MAAX tubs. I am very disappointed with the product and am not sure what to do. The tub is the original with the house that is about 11 years old. Standard tubs should last at least 25.

My husband and I have been able to accomplish many many home renovation projects over the years - deck building, kitchen renovation, installing new floors, tiling, you name it. But our experience with the Utile Maax shower kit has been the worst ever. Parts missing from the kit, parts duplicated in the kit, wrong parts in the kit, some of the instructions are, in fact, incorrect OR are not at all clear and have led to many meltdowns. We spent a lot of money on this product and are sorry we did. One of the customer service people agreed with me that a part I was looking for was not listed by its correct part number but that "that was neither here nor there" - his words. Bought the unit from a local supplier for a substantial amount of money. Unit is beautiful and appears well made. After installation, when attempting to find doors for the unit, it was learned that Maax makes none to fit it, and apparently neither does any other manufacturer. There is a curvature on both sides of the entrance threshold, at the bottom, and this prevents normal shower doors from working. Called Maax twice, and was informed both times that they do not make doors for that unit, and they know of no other companies that do. It was recommended by one of them that we use a shower curtain. Put a curtain on a very expensive shower unit? That was their attitude. I will certainly recommend against Maax products, whenever I get the chance.

I recently installed a MAAX whirlpool tub. The tub was in the carton and protected up until install. My Plumber filled it with water above the jets and inspected it for leaks. He also did a pressure test with no faults. Several weeks later and after jets were in use, I had water damage to my drywall below, took the tile and frame of tub apart and discovered a union connection that was only hand tightened (per the factory direction) and not tight enough. A slow leak had developed over the last several weeks.
Upon making a warranty claim, MAAX Service and Sales department has been rude and contrary. They told me it was my fault for not inspecting it better and flat out said they would not cover the claim. Apparently in the fine print, MAAX is not responsible for any leaks or repairs to the tub after install. Like really... Would one inspect a light fixture wiring connections before they install one? This is a ridiculous expectation by MAAX, and is really just a way for them to absolve themselves of any customer service after purchase.

We recently had a contractor install a Tub & Shower unit Model FW64S. We liked the unit as the floor to tub height is only 17". Easy to get in and out of. We noticed the tub had a soft spot on the floor on the wall side of the tub. I called Maax to ask them if this was normal as it is a fiberglass style tub and I was curious. Once they started a repair quote with a local company in town the ball was rolling in a couple day a fellow called me and mentioned he was asked to come by and look at the tub for Maax. Was over to see us that same day and was very thorough on his inspections to see if tub was installed correct and check out the issue at hand. He found a hairline crack in the tub.
Maax called me 2 days later and was very courteous and concerned to get this resolved ASAP, within a few more days we had an option to get the tub repaired or they would refund the store for the unit. I found this was great service on Maax's part, I know things like this happen with products but to get this kind of service I was impressed. I truly think the problem was due to poor handling of the product at store level & possibly even more poor packaging by Maax when shipped out. As I visited the store to see how the product was packaged versus our brands, and it goes to show better packaging when shipped could save a lot of issues for Maax. Hope this helps.

Called Maax customer service on several occasions for assistance and they can’t help with their own product and seemed to be confused themselves in how to install it. I was the one that had to explain it to them to turn the base around, which at this point had already been installed by a plumber. Very disappointed that I spent $1400 for nothing.
If I could rate a very very poor I would. Don’t waste your money on this company. And when Maax customer service comments on this post on how sorry they are with my recent experience they really don’t care. If it was possible to give no star rating, I would. Kit arrived with broken pan. Took a couple of weeks to get a replacement. When the pan was in and the walls level/plumb, the weight of the panel sides pulled the base pan out of level by about 1/8". With the pan out and the the mounting rail installed 1/8" out, the glass would not fit properly. Then the bottom trim rail for the glass and door would not fit (it is an 'L' bracket and does not hold the glass properly; it should be a 'U' channel that locks into the vertical riser that holds the glass from the side).
We had to fabricate our own mounting channel to hold the glass at the bottom. The upper mounting brace gets in the way of the shower head when using a standard length fitting; had to fabricate a longer fitting to bring the shower head further away from the wall. Instructions are not clear or easy to follow. Many phone calls to MAAX to get explanations (customer service was good, they seem to handle a lot of calls on such issues). A claimed couple of days became almost three weeks to get everything worked out; plus us having to find other solutions and fabricate solutions.
Our neighbour bought a similar kit by MAAX at the same time as we did and they had very similar issues/problems. Again, they had to fabricate pieces to fix the serious design flaws with the products. All in all; extremely disappointed in the product, the components, the instructions and the cost. Definitely not worth the money. Suggest using tile and get it professionally installed over trying to use a MAAX kit.

If you are considering buying this product, it is probably because you want a quick "one-day installation" because it is significantly cheaper to buy a shower pan and install actual tiles. I ordered this MAAX Utile Metro Alcove Shower Stall on June 20th, it arrived at Home Depot on July 6th. I had to pay a $100 to have someone with a large truck to help me bring it home - the back wall is too large to fit in smaller trucks. I had removed the old tub and tiles and had prepared everything to install the unit right away since I only have one shower.
After opening the box, I noticed that one of the wall panels has large cracks in two corners. The wall panels are so thin and are packed so poorly that is hard to believe they won't break during shipping. I called the customer service and they said they would send me a replacement in 5-7 days. Today, almost three weeks later, the panel still has not arrived. My bathroom walls are still open, and I still don't have a fully functioning shower. I don't recommend this product at all. If you have $3500 to spend on this, just find a local handyman and have a proper shower installed in 2 days with half the cost.

I recently bought this supposedly "new" tub and shower kit. Menards forklifted the sealed package onto my truck. Next day I uncrated the product and cleaned the white powder off the surface. I found some dull rough spots. Upon closer looking there were sandpaper marks around which appeared to be a spray painted area. there was also a lot of dry overspray on that end of the tub.
Upon looking on the underside I discovered a repaired area which was obviously done after the tub came out of the mold. There were chips in the bottom edge of the tub also and some of it was dabbed in with white paint. the wall surround had some deep scratches also that were too deep to wet sand and buff out. This product should of been sold as a factory refurbished item. Even at that the spot job was done very poorly. Looking at the below picture you can clearly see the resin applied on the edge of the grinder marks. It is obviously they ground the fiberglass to smooth it for the overflow but ground thru the surface also and then aerosol canned the top side to try and hide the mistake! I can only wonder if this company has any form of quality control/inspections of its products?
They were prompt about wanting to send a painter out to repaint the problem but as a former car painter, I can tell you that putting paint on top of a fiberglass gel coat is not going to be the same and it is going to be prone to easily chipping off worse than the ultra thin coat from factory to begin with. I opted to return this factory second back to Menards as inspecting this product closely and see how easily they chipped the coat off the edges at factory, I could tell this product would not hold up over the years! When I finally got thru to customer service, they said they would contact Menards to make sure they had another replacement on hand. I don't think they ever did.
I called back a second time to verify the previous phone call and got a different agent. I explained same stuff. Later got a call from the repair painter, which I did not agree to in the first place and he said he would call MAAX to close the case as I was returning to Menards due to the fact it was not installed yet. Prompt actions by MAAX customer service but still does not excuse the product quality! Menards refunded my money. I ordered a different brand and got the same crap again! This time it is from the Kohler company! I wonder if Maax and Kohler/Sterling use the same manufacturer as both products I got the signature aerosol can repair technique used? My word of advice to everyone: open the boxes at the place you buy them and do not have them shipped to your home.

Good morning Garrett! We are really sorry to hear you have not been satisfied with our product. I can assure you that quality is really important to us and we focus a lot on it. I recently went to RONA-Nanaimo and purchased a MAAX Corinthia II bathtub and MAAX UTILE Thunder Grey Tub wall set. I purchased these together because that is what the display and salesperson told me worked together. I placed the order on May 18, 2018. Salesperson said it would be in on May 28th. I called on May 28th and was told that it would be another week. It arrived on June 5th. My contractor installed the bathtub yesterday. They tried to dry-fit the Tub walls as per the installation instructions today. I was a little concerned when in the wall instructions, it didn't list the tub that was sold to us with the wall set. The contractor said that if RONA sold it together then it must work together.
When you put the back wall of the set in place, the tub is 3/4" too small for the wall. There is no way to fit the wall properly and squarely because clearly this tub is not compatible with the wall set. I returned the wall set to my local store. They did refund my money, however, I am now stuck with a tub that I wouldn't normally choose unless I was using the Utile wall system because we already configured the plumbing to fit this tub. I am now having to choose something else as a solution for my tub surround because this wall system doesn't work. This could be a significant increase in cost of a relatively simple project.
I've wasted time and money with a contractor. I have a flooring person coming in next week to install flooring and I wanted all the messy tub install done first so as not to be dragged around on my new floor. I am beyond frustrated of having this completely not work and travel back and forth to the store to return these very HEAVY walls. Why is RONA selling these two products together as a set if they are not listed as compatible with each other by the manufacturer? I would like to be contacted at the number above with some explanation for why this has happened.

Good morning Sarah! We would like to express our sincere apologies concerning your recent experience. Unfortunately, you were mislead during your purchase of your unit as the Corinthia II is not listed as one of the tub that can fit with the Utile walls. As we have discussed with you on another Web Platform, we did contact the store to inform them about the situation and make sure they contact us whenever they are not sure about an information. After years of having only an old fashioned cast iron bathtub with a makeshift shower curtain and a rubber mat to keep from slipping, our contractor installed a Aker MAAX KDS shower stall. Their website lists a “Textured Floor” that they claim is “Anti-Slip”. Aker Maax also boasts in their literature that “This is a product that does exactly what you want it to do”. IT DOES NOT! This is an inflated claim by Aker MAAX. I sincerely doubt that it meets the ASTM F462 safety spec for slip resistance as they claim on their website.
We wanted to be safe in our shower and were concerned about slipping. The contractor rightfully stated that Aker MAAX listed the unit as having an anti-slip base. While the base is textured it is far from “Anti-Slip”. The textured surface is finished with a glossy surface that eliminates whatever benefits Aker MAAX was trying to achieve with a texture. After spending over $5,000 to remove the old tub with a mat, we are left with a unit that requires us to place on foot on the drain for traction and hold on to the safety bar with one hand and try to shower with the other. The Aker MAAX rep’s suggestion? Use a mat, but remove it after each use. Ridiculous! That’s what we had!
At this point we are waiting for our contractor to come up with a solution. There is a $5,000+ unused safety hazard in our bathroom where a brand new functioning shower unit should be. Aker MAAX has so far been pretty much useless in regards to any resolution. On a minor note the unit also has a tiny inadequate spot to set your soap. The soap bar slips right off. There’s nowhere to set your shampoo. The seat is slippery and combined with the slippery floor there’s no way to keep yourself from slipping off. Aker MAAX seems to brag about how good they are on their website. They need to step up their game.

We are really sorry to hear about your situation and as always we are concerned about our customer's satisfaction. If you would like to call me at 1-877-438-6229 or provide us with any file# that you may have regarding your situation, we would definitely investigate on your issue and do everything we can to improve your experience. We purchased the Hana Neo-Angle 3838 shower door from Menards. The glass panels WILL NOT stay in the wall jambs. The panels and door are very heavy glass pieces and the panels are supposed to be held in the wall jambs by inserting a plastic gasket. The gasket keeps pushing back out and the glass panels will not stay in the jambs. I'm very disappointed in this design and have no confidence in this shower. I called customer support and she suggested putting the gaskets on the glass panels first then place in the jambs. We had everything put together and soon after the door was placed the panel came away from the wall again. I need to return this item, but considering it's from Canada I would imagine my chances are slim to none.

Firstly we ordered the product (Magnolia Round) through Home Depot in brushed nickel, it showed up, 3 weeks late, in chrome. Secondly the mounting hardware is far too light duty to reliably handle the weight of the heavy glass panels, you will be adjusting the rollers constantly to maintain a seal on the dual doors which is a tedious and VERY finicky process! Third the screws which mount the fixed panels to the wall flanges might as well be plastic as they are certainly not of adequate strength for use on metal, I broke two of the six BY HAND before discarding the rest and using number 6x 1/2" self taping duct screws.
Fourth the blocks for the bottom door guides and threshold are far too light duty with an extreme lack of securement, the instructions recommend silicone which does not last longer than a couple functions of the doors. I was able to successfully bond them using a waterproof construction adhesive but I doubt it will hold for long. Finally the cost of these shower kits is astronomically high for the general quality of the product, if you can find them at a 50% discount that would be more along the lines of a FAIR price but still a little high.

I placed a special order through Menards for a Maax 48" Brushed Nickel Shower Door. The door arrived within a week. I paid to have the door installed and when I came home I found a Dark Bronze shower door installed instead of Brushed Nickel. I checked the labels on the box and my original order. Maax had incorrectly labeled their box at the factory. I called Maax and filed a warranty claim. The first customer service rep was friendly and helpful getting my claim filed. When I called back to check on my claim I was very disappointed with the CSR and her solution to my issue.
The rep told me that my contractor should have realized he was installing the wrong color door. She instructed me to have the doors taken down and then return them to the store where I purchased it. I told her that I would now have to pay to have the doors removed and reinstalled. She said she "didn't know what I wanted Maax to do about that". I was told that once I return the door and the store acknowledges the return. Maax will then review my claim to process a replacement door. This process was going to take them 11-14 days for review. Once the review was completed they would issue the new shower door to ship, which is another week. VERY DISAPPOINTED with Maax especially considering the amount I spent on these special order doors and the Maax Orchestra bathtub I purchased. Thankfully Menards is trying to help get this expedited.

I recently installed a MAAX tub shower door set (model #105409). I have NEVER seen such POOR QUALITY in any product. The doors are very flimsy, towel barb is ridiculous... did I mention the bottom rack? There is a small plastic track that attaches to the bottom for the doors to slide across and they give you a couple of tiny pieces of double sided tape to hold it in place. Are you seriously people...how long do you think that tiny tape will stay in place with moisture and water? Let me tell you how long... one second after you hang the doors to try to slide them.
The bottom track is not even wide enough for both doors...even on the lowest setting on the rollers on top, the space at the bottom is so high the water pours out between the shower doors and the bottom track. This was ordered from a plumbing company!!! I would have got a better shower door at JOB LOT, the old BUILDING 19, BIG LOTS or any other junk store. Paid over $200 for the doors not counting installation... Now I have to take it down and buy another shower door set from a different company. STAY AWAY FROM MAAX... it is JUNK.

Bought a Maax Bath and Surround from Regina, (an hour away). After getting it home and opening it, there was a piece of paper stating to go "online" for installation instructions. There were none online. I emailed the company and they sent them the next day. I opened the surround and noticed there was a dent and hole in one of the shelves. I took pictures, scanned the bill and sent it to the company. I wanted to know what to do with it because there was also a piece of paper in there that said "Do not return this product to the store". After a few emails back and forth I mentioned that my shower is not useable and could we get this sorted out ASAP. That was March 1st.
March 5th I returned the Tub Surround back to the store and bought a different one at a different store. I had to borrow a truck again and drive the hour to and from the store in Regina. March 6th I finally received an email from Maax asking which side I needed. I emailed back and told them it was no longer required because I couldn't wait any longer and returned it. As of today, Mar 14th I have not received any comment from them. If my bathtub hadn't have been installed at the time, I would have returned that too. I get so tired of businesses bragging about customer service, and then they let you down. I was impressed with how quickly they sent me the installation instructions, but then it went downhill from there. So, I will spread the word about my experience with Maax and hopefully save someone else the aggravation of trying to deal with them.

It started to sag a few weeks ago and after taking it apart, I saw that the partially plastic hinges (for a 50+ lb glass door!), were breaking apart. When I contacted the company, I was horrified to learn that they did not have replacement parts. A consumer has a legitimate expectation that a shower door will last 20+ years with careful use and that replacement parts are available should something fail. It is a truly irresponsible company. The only thing they are concerned with was the expired warranty. If they were a professional outfit, they would have sourced or manufactured the replacement parts I needed. The cost of removing, buying a new door, having it delivered and installed is non-trivial. The company's attitude is reason enough for consumers to completely avoid it.

We had an issue with our Aker by MAAX shower base that was installed in our new construction home. The top layer was separated from the base layer and was deemed not repairable and the company gave us a "demolish" credit to the supplier where the tub was purchased from. Essentially, if you have an issue with your MAAX product, they'll give you the cost of the item, but good luck replacing all of the tile surround, shower door, etc. yourself. I would be cautious buying one of these, or having one installed as part of a new construction, because it will be your problem.

Do not buy anything from this company, we had MAAX tubs installed when we built our new house and less than 3 years later our whirlpool tub started to leak. After going online and reviewing the warranty MAAX says you must file all warranty work through the supplier. After waiting 3 months to get any word back from the supplier, we waited that long because the supplier stated it takes months for MAAX to reply. A MAXX repairman came out and looked at the tub and we were told that that part was not cover with the warranty and that he would not fix it even if we purchased the replacement part, a jet head. We received a replacement tub by working with supplier. Then MAAX shipped the wrong tub which took weeks to come in. When we finally received the correct tub weeks later plumber could not get it to work. The supplier would not even take the tub back but again filed the warranty paper work.
Over a month latter MAAX contacted us and said the part would be here in 2 days. Two months later we still did not have the part so we filled a BBB complaint and received nothing but excuses from MAAX. Over a month later we were contacted by their POS repairman who came out and looked at the tub and stated a hose was missing and then accused us of taking the hose off. We let the idiot know we did not even open the package the plumber did. The he let us know he did not have a 3 foot hose and suggested we should go online and purchase it. We told him to go find one, we are still waiting for him to return to fix this tub. It has been over a year that we have fought with the supplier and MAAX. We finally went out and purchased a Jacuzzi tub and had it installed and the POS MAAX tub is in our garage still not fixed.

I decided to simply tile instead of using the cheap surround. Next I installed the base, it was very flimsy and noisy. I was certain there would be issues with leaking given the sponginess of the base, clearly a poor quality product, my next step was to remove it and return it to Rona. The Rona rep said they have had problems with the MAAX products, which led me to ask why they would still continue selling products they know to be problematic? Purchased a MAAX Figaro 1 tub/shower from Menards in Brainerd MN. When I purchased it at the store I was shown the picture from the Menards website. This was the unit I wanted since I had purchased one several years back when I built a home. I installed the unit 3/4 of the way into the framing before I remove the cardboard covering the front of the unit. (I left the cardboard on to protect the unit getting it into the house and to the bathroom since this is a remodel I am doing). After removing the cardboard I noticed the layout of the towel bar and shelf were not the same as the picture of the unit I saw at Menards when I ordered it. I checked out the MAAX website and it showed the same unit that Menards had. The towel bar and shelf is lower on both website pictures. The one they sent me has the towel bar and shelf at 31 inches from the bottom of the tub.
How the hell are you suppose to reach the towel bar if you are sitting in the tub? I contacted MAAX customer support about this. The guy I spoke with was rude and told me that this is the spec for this tub. I explained to him that the website picture is what I expected when I ordered this unit. He all but told me is what we sent you is what you get. I have been dealing with this issue with Menards and MAAX since Monday with no resolution in sight yet. Menards is dragging their feet on this and Maxx is not willing to replace the unit with what the website shows. My MAAX case # is **. We bought the Maax "Elan" 59" acrylic 5-panel tub surround because it was supposedly the best (even though it cost 3 times as much as a similar product). It took a couple of weeks to arrive (this, in the middle of what has turned into a major bathroom renovation - we've been without a shower for 4 weeks now, and it STILL isn't over). When we opened the box, we discovered that the 3 flat panels were all broken - each was missing a corner. We also discovered that the 3 flat panels were slightly different sizes (all different in length, the most critical dimension), and none were actually rectangular. All three had to be custom cut to make them square-cornered, rectangular, and the same length. Then, we discovered that neither of the 2 corner pieces were 90 degrees. The left corner was fairly close, but the right one is almost 20 degrees out of square, bowing out almost 2" in the middle.
Nonetheless, I followed the installation instructions to the letter, using the correct adhesive. To try to deal with the warp, I used a complex system of wood & steel braces to hold the gap closed in the warped panel. After 24 hours curing time, the warped corner instantly sprung loose, pulling the glue off the wall, and resulting in a 3” long gap (over 1" wide in the middle of the seam) in the vertical overlapping seam. Ripping the whole thing off & throwing it away isn't realistic, as new waterproof drywall would be required (again), and the expense has become prohibitive. Needless to say, I'm not impressed with my $300 investment for the Maax surround. I may have to resort to using a dozen screws to hold the panel edge down, which would be ugly, but we can't go another 4 weeks without a shower, or afford yet another tub surround kit.

MAAX Utile shower system - Do NOT buy this product!!! We purchased this product from Menards and it has been a nightmare from the start. The fiberglass walls were extremely warped, most likely a defect in the manufacturing process. It took three people eight hours to install the three shower walls. That's 24 man hours! Until we removed a 2x6 in the new wall that was installed specifically per the instructions, we could not get the the side panel to conform to the back panel. This severe warp prevented us from using the Maax shower door because the door frames were too rigid. We took it back and purchased a Sterling door with flexible door frames.
The severe warping also made installing the corner shelf extremely difficult, requiring us to use rubber washers to align the screw holes properly. However, the threads on one of the specialty screws were defective and would not screw into the specialty bracket, requiring us to use glue to keep it in. This project alone should have taken 30 minutes, but ended up taking two hours! Ridiculous. We are cabin and homeowners and have tackled many home improvement projects over the years, and hands down, this is the worst product we have ever dealt with. We feel the company should pay us for the number of hours we spent trying to make this system work. Again I say, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

We recently purchased the Olympia Round Shower Kit from Menards. We installed it exactly to the instructions which took time to understand - not detailed enough but felt confident because everything was level and worked great for about 2 weeks. One evening I heard a loud explosion of what sounded like rain from the bathroom. I went in to investigate and found that the large stationary piece of the glass enclosure spontaneously exploded and broke into a million little pieces. It flew everywhere! It was on top of a tall cabinet, in the sink, toilet, and flew into the bedroom. The glass door was hanging on only because there was a wall there to support it or that would have broken too. No one was in the bathroom or using the shower at that time so I was glad because no injuries happened.
We called the company which requested the serial number which we didn't have because it was on the packaging but accepted the receipt which was only 6 weeks old and requested pictures. They did send us the replacement parts but we are now having trouble installing it because it's just not lining up like it should. The door isn't closing properly and it's not leveling.
We are extremely frustrated and scared this will happen again. What if it does? What if we are in the shower this time? What do we do now? Are we stuck with this faulty system? Not sure what to do at this point. When we called the company they seemed surprised this happened but upon reading the other reviews I feel they probably weren't very surprised. This is a very dangerous system and you should seriously consider not buying this system if the glass is this unreliable.

This product has been a nightmare since day one. We are installing a Maax Olympia round shower base and door The base is super cheap--thin plastic with Styrofoam underneath. The surround seems fine and is fiberglass. The door? All I can say is DO NOT buy this! DO NOT! The installation guide leaves much out and some of the steps make no sense and it seems that it would be more logical to have the sequence different. However, we are following the directions exactly and having a lot of problems. I called the helpline twice. The second call was answered by an obvious misogynist and he was incredibly snarky. One step I figured out that the support bar needed to be inside the glass - the picture was ambiguous. He then proceeded to tell me the instructions stated that-- I had them in front of me, they do not. He was just plain rude. After reading some of the reviews on here, I am not optimistic and wonder if we should even continue installation!

Reveal 60" shower doors - I am a contractor. Bathrooms are one of my specialties. I was finishing a project by installing a shower door. These types of things must have its instructions followed meticulously because they're engineered to deliver a specific waterproof performance. So, as usual, I followed the instructions carefully. I had installed the track and was now at the stage to install the fixed glass panel. I hoisted it 6+" off the ground as I was positioning it towards the supplied wall jamb when all of a sudden it imploded!! I've NEVER even heard of such a thing happening before... unbelievable! Millions of tiny, broken pieces everywhere... and several minor cuts and pieces of glass throughout my hair.
The client isn't impressed and is now worried about her safety after reading all these similar reviews. Can you blame her? MAAX office is closed at the moment so I'll have to call tomorrow. I'll report back here tomorrow. One thing for sure is that the doors are lighter than most others so maybe the thickness speaks to its lack of strength and quality. I would definitely NOT install this product in my house!

I want to point out the tub water doesn't actually increase as I wouldn't be able to stand that temp. After trying to work via my contractor for months to get a new panel I was advised to contact Maax directly.
January 2017 another contractor from Maax contacted me to assess the problem. He finally came out in February; he repaired 2 bubble like flaws in the tub but didn't fix the controls. Had to return with another call to Maax to replace control panel. Now with the new panel the temperature display still increases during operation but the pump turns on with the * function now and the light option seems to work as if I had a light. Ergo the new control panel isn't working even as well as the first panel.

The problem is that the shower has been installed and in use for about 2 months, and the original silicone has now let go from the base rail track. There is no way to get the base metal rail off, short of taking most of the enclosure down. And I definitely am not up to doing that, as I had a contractor install it and I know he followed the installation directions scrupulously. Any suggestions for fixing this problem with the enclosure in place? Response: You will have to remove the metal rail, clean it with rubbing alcohol and you can sand the bottom of the base and under the rail slightly. The silicone should stick better if the surface is rough.
We pointed out that the rail can't be taken off without taking down the shower enclosure. We contacted Maax again and this was their reply: Response: "Unfortunately the only solution would be to remove a portion of the unit and install the rail again with the tips I gave you. There's really nothing else to do to permanently solve the issue. Thank you." THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW! After reading the experiences by others, I believe that a Class Action should be taken.

The plumbers starting pointing out problems when they unpackaged and examined the tub. First, the edging of the insert portion was extremely sharp and unfinished, leaving rough fiberglass that would cut and splinter if touched; second, the edge of the insert portion was improperly cut, that is the edge was not even around the tub, leaving one side wider than the other; and third, the metal guides that center the two portions were missing (broken).
I contacted MAAX who expressed their concern and did offered to replace the tub, but since we had already waited six weeks (and they could not offer quicker delivery), we made several repairs and installed the tub in a way that the uneven edge could not be easily seen. No one was in or near the doors when one of them collapsed. I am glad to say no one was in the shower or near it. It actually exploded and broke into thousands of tiny pieces of glass sounding like glass cascading onto the floor.

I installed (per instructions - with certified plumber approval) the Neo-Round Shower w/ base in 2011. Shortly after, I noticed a cracking sound while standing in the shower. A few days ago, a 3-inch triangular break occurred in the floor, resulting in a laceration of my left heel. I have attempted to contact MAAX via the phone number given on the Instruction Manual and Warranty, but, apparently, unless I agree to PAY for a "discount" on my next purchase from Home Depot or other such retailers my call is diverted to 411 and dropped! I have attempted to continue my call several times within the automated system, to no avail. There is nobody to talk to in this company, and I'm seriously considering a lawsuit!

After owning the Freestyle Round shower for only 4 years, the base cracked causing water damage to the ceiling in the room below. I contacted Maax shower to have the base replaced as a warranty repair (which the warranty is 10 years) and was told that I would need to submit a receipt for the purchase. I told them that I only had my credit card statement showing the purchase, and I was told that that was not sufficient. I was told that particular shower has only been produced for the last 5 years, which is proof that I have not had it more than the 10 years for warranty purposes. The representative was able to locate me in their system from when I had to have repair parts for the doors from the initial purchase, which was AGAIN less than 10 years ago, try 4 years. I left a message with a manager and requested a return call from him. I feel that they are not standing behind their warranty and are looking for an easy way out of replacing their faulty/failed components. Not only do I have to have the base replaced or a new shower installed, I will need to have the damaged ceiling repaired and painted. I will be making a complaint with the BBB and with Home Depot if I am not able to resolve this issue with the company.

On 3rd April 2008, I bought a shower (Discription:Frameless 38 Shower, Magnolia Corner Entry, Model 331S-C38, 4 Frameless glass panels including corner entry, slide open doors and wide acrylic base). Manufactured by Keystone Maax from Home Depot. I installed the same in the next few days in my Bathroom with the help of my friend, as per the instructions that came with the Shower Kit, supplied by Keystone Company.
On 17th of May 2008 my niece who was visiting me from Australia, used that shower. After she finished her shower and opened the door to step out, to her surprise and shock , the entire door came out of its channel and broke. She was left with the knob in her hand. My niece screamed and I went running to the bathroom. I just could not imagine the site. She was crying and screaming with Blood all over her legs, arms and mouth. One by one we managed to take out all the glass pieces out of her legs and arms, and then gave her the required First Aid. My niece took rest for two days and is now returning to Australia Via India.
My Father who is a Doctor in India took care of her medical needs. I went to Home Depot and reported this incident. I was informed to Contact the Manufacturer. The associate at Kitchen and Bath (from Home Depot) informed me that the only thing Home Depot could do at this time was to give me a 10% discount for a new Shower.
This Shower has two glass sliding doors, I then checked the other glass door which is still intact, I have noticed that when you open the door, it jumps when it touches the stopper on the other end and there is a possibility that it might come out of its track/channel. This is what happened in my nieces case. This door of the shower is life threatening and some amendments have to be made for its security, before another customer gets hurt. I have already read one complaint like this in reference to the same Company in your Consumer Complaints. I would really appreciate if you could really take an appropriate action for the above mentioned complaint. Thanking You
I have already explained the Physical Damages, as for as Economic Damages are concerned, I have yet to ask my father regarding any medical bills. I know for sure that my father had taken her to the dentist as two of her teeth were shaking and bleeding when this accident happened.

On the morning of May 25, 2007, while visiting our friends in Ohio, I took a shower in their glass enclosed corner shower. While exiting the shower, I slid the right door to open and suddenly the entire door came crashing down upon me. It shattered into little pieces both in and out of the shower. I was left holding the handle and standing in a pile of glass bleeding from various parts of my body, especially my hands and legs.
As soon as I realized what happened, I cried out for help. I was in a locked room and had to walk over the glass with bare feet to open the door for help. My partner took me to another bathroom to rinse off all of the glass on my body before going to the emergency room. I had to keep towels wrapped around my hands as I was bleeding profusely-fortunately the emergency room was right across the street.
Once in the ER, the physician met with me immediately. She was most concerned about glass in my eyes. She carefully examined both eyes and determined that small pieces of glass had made several punctures in my lower eye. She flushed both eyes and gave me antibiotics to put in my left eye as well as a solution to flush my eyes as needed.
In addition, the physician gave me ointment for my hands and legs. The cuts on my hands and legs did not require stitches, however, one cut was deeper and has required more attention. One month after the accident I continued to soak it in hot water three times a day and apply an anti-bacterial ointment. It has not healed and I will meet with a physician if it does not heal shortly.
This was an extremely frightening experience that caused much upheaval, anxiety, concern and time among many individuals. It cast a shadow on our much anticipated trip to our friends retirement party and daughters baby shower.
Update: I was told that the medical bills would be paid. They have not and it has been several months since they agreed to pay. In addition, the scar on my right knuckle continues to be very bothersome, it hurts when touched and the big red bump has not gone away. I have made an appointment to see my physician again. I continue to relive this experience, especially when triggered by magazine pictures or tv adds.
I have asked for compensation from the company and they told me that I would have to go through an attorney. I believe that I have a just case as I question the use of safety glass in this product. This shower should not be on the market and no one should have to endure an experience such as this.
