We bought the Hotpoint refrigerator/freezer, (freezer is on top,) almost 20 yrs ago and have never had a problem. The only issue we have is that the freezer space is rather small for a family of even just 2 people. The big plus? It's SO easy to clean and light enough to move to get to the back to clean that area as well.

This is a great fridge freezer if you like spending your time replacing it. Under warranty, it was replaced twice. Then the door broke and I went for the cheaper repair option than buying a different brand. Main problem is that the no freeze system needs outside condensation. When it is hot outside and strangely you would then want things to be kept cold, ice forms in the condensation pipe or air distribution channel. Defrost the freezer for 18 hours with the door open, and about 0.5 l of water spills out. Then it will work again. You may need a new floor too. Bought a matching oven, too: No spare parts available. So stay away from this company: Hotpoint, Ariston and the likes.

I bought the fridge 4 months ago and I regret it. Makes very loud noise and recently It has started making some other strange noise. Food goes bad very fast apart from the one in the freezer. Power consumption and appearance is also okay.

Surprisingly economy & quiet, very simple and budget, from a day one works without any problem, meanwhile its appearance is pretty conservative if not to say primitive without any modern features or else.

It is the best three door fridge I have ever owned - dual freezer doors, no huge doors to open, easy access to produce, a lot of storage areas, equal freezer space to fridge space, perfect size for one or two people.

I purchased a Hotpoint Fridge Freezer. From early on it made loud strange noises. I never felt it was safe. Eventually it stopped working. All my food was spoiled. Before it broke down it sounded like a jumbo jet taking off. I wrote to CE and my product was replaced. After a year same problem. Again I wrote to CE this time I received a call from an irritating customer service person who couldn't have cared less. They said they would be happy to send out an engineer at a cost to me. Explains I thought it was a product fault and it wasn't fit for purpose possibly dangerous. Not interested. I know longer felt safe with this product so bought a Bush for half the price and so far so good. I love it. Hotpoint and I are to finished forever.

Bought a new f/f 2 months ago. It told me it's frost free. The drawers of freezer have loads of ice all over them. It makes horrendous noise so rang for repair and was told I have to defrost it at least for 24 hours. I said I never would have bought it had I known that... I said it’s meant to be frost free. She said it is but only directly inside the fridge and freezer drawers won’t frost up but it will get iced up inside the pipes. Omg and I should defrost it every time, well the freezer drawers do frost badly and I’m not defrosting every 4 weeks why should I?

The freezer causes ice to evaporate within a few days, surprising you when you go for ice from trays which were recently filled. The temperature varies from just under freezing to slightly below freezing, making it necessary to check if items are frozen.

It is very energy efficient and I like the freezer compartment because I can fit a large pizza in it compared to my old side by side Hotpoint where I could not store large items as the aforementioned, and also the old one was not as energy efficient. But I wish the storage bins on my Hotpoint refrigerator were clear plastic or glass to better view the contents.

We have a side by side refrigerator/freezer and it has been with us about 4 years. It was a little taller than the old one and we had to trim the cabinets. I don't know why manufacturers cannot make an icemaker that is reliable though. Ours works but not as good as it should. Filters for the water system are not cheap to buy either. All in all it has been a good brand.

Low end and Wire shelves sag, but does the job. Love the recessed handles, good ice maker and seems to have an even temperature throughout but takes up a lot of room in the small freezer.

Hotpoint is the worst brand I have ever used, not enough space and over freezes, bins are too small. Would never buy this brand, no butter dish, and spaces on door are too small to fit bottles in.

It's the small convenient size that we wanted, but not as reliable as it should be. Had to have a new motor fan put in and it leaks water sometimes. The good thing is; it's still working.

Temperature tends to get much colder than actual setting, eggs have frozen but that's the only con. I adjust the temperature to warmer and the fridge still keeps everything nice and cold.

At 23 months after purchase, this Hotpoint top-freezer fridge began to make a loud noise when it was running and emitted an "electrical burning" odor. It is out of warranty so Hotpoint (GE) repairs quoted on the phone would be $99 for diagnosis plus labor plus parts, likely almost as much as the original cost of the fridge. Clearly, this fridge was poorly made and has proven unreliable. Hotpoint may once have produced a good product but this no longer appears to be the case. I strongly advise everyone against purchasing such unreliable Hotpoint products. The extended warranty, which I did not purchase, is an seems an excuse to make an inferior product.

This fridge is not a good brand! Not quality made. You can buy a good quality fridge with a brand name and reputation for nearly the same price. Mine is turning on and off once about every 3 weeks. Not sure why. I think its over heating. Also the light burned a hole through the plastic. I would not recommend this product ever.

My landlord installed a Hotpoint fridge and it runs for over 2 hours. I'm concerned about its safety and is there anything I can do? The last fridge was so loud that it was running constantly and ice was not freezing properly.

I did get my money's worth, believe it or not it's over 40 yrs old and still works but part of the fridge freezes most stuff, it is a frost free but sometimes ice forms in the fridge. It has an upper freezer and the fridge beneath. I truly need shelves like a side by side. I have 3 small veggie bins, even if one bin, larger would be better. It is an energy hog being so old. The reason I have not purchased a new one is due to my health. I can't go to the stores and this is one product I want to see up close and personal. Not purchase online.

Ever since my mom has been in her home she has battled with the Hotpoint fridge that came with the home. She has had numerous visits needed for repairs. She recently was going through papers from the previous owner's repairs and found that this fridge has needed the same repairs prior to her living there. Her model number was HSS251FMDWW... Prior receipts record 300.00 repairs to a control board and defrost thermostat... Then the buyers warranty replaced for free three more visits under moms ownership... Then her buyers warranty ran out. She has since spent 600.00 on other visits for the same parts, board and defrost thermostat... Moral of story... Read reviews. Never ever buy a Hotpoint... It's time for mom to cut losses and invest in a fridge but her recent repairman said, "There is nothing on the market worth investing money into. You're better keeping what you have"... I highly disagree.

18 months after buying a Hotpoint refrigerator, it stopped working. I paid half the price of the fridge for repair and the repairman told me this was a known problem with Hotpoint. I asked, and he was replacing the non-working part with a Hotpoint part, because no other company's part would fit. 18 months later the same part failed again. I came home from 3 weeks on vacation and found all my frozen food melted. To have it repaired a second time would make the repairs as expensive as the fridge itself, and guarantee that in 18 months I will again be throwing out all my food. I won't buy anything from Hotpoint ever again.

My appliance lasted 13 months, 1 month out of warranty. After waiting for two weeks for an appointment to fix my fridge the engineer didn't turn up and I was not informed why. I spent all day trying to find out where he was, each time the call center hung up on me. At the end of the day I eventually got through and was told the engineer would be there the next morning. After taking another day off work the engineer failed to turn up so I spent another day trying to talk to someone with half a brain. After 54 minutes on the phone trying to find out what has happened to my appointment the call center hung up once again. I decided to cut my losses and buy a new appliance that wasn't Hotpoint. I wouldn't buy another Hotpoint appliance if someone paid me, they do not deserve to run a business if customers mean that little to them.

Refrigerator light failed and melted the material above it. Did not trip my circuit. I don't know if I can replace the bulb or is the machine now dangerous. Am I lucky not have a fire?

I purchase a model #hss25gfpeww & had nothing but problems with the ice auger. It broke on me five times. Almost swallowed a small piece. Auger part #964350. The plastic auger is design very poorly. In my opinion it should of been made out of some sort of alloyed that doesn't break. It's a public hazard. My main concern is some child or adult will severely choke on a small piece of plastic! My friends went on a short holiday only to get a phone call to say that their house was on fire. They rushed back home & were told that their Hotpoint fridge freezer of approximately 5 years old had caught Fire. The house now requires extensive repair & will take approximately 6 months to do. Is there a moral to this story. Empty the fridge freezer, have a feast in it, your friends around. Then switch off your appliance.

Purchased Hotpoint model HSM25GFRFSA. Noise off & on from beginning. Technician was expensive & did not resolve problem. I turn the ice maker off, noise continues periodically. A different noise occurring now.

The auger is brittle, breaks into fragments and falls into the ice and then dumps into the dispenser. I got a cup of water and ice and it was full of sharp plastic pieces that had broken off. I did not know and swallowed one of them and it is caught in my throat. This is a very dangerous situation and I am scared. I read that is happened recently to someone else on this website. My double fridge freezer is a 2006 Hotpoint model. Please contact me.

My Hotpoint fridge freezer is 3 years old and the compressor is broken. Firstly Hotpoint isn't really Hotpoint anymore, it's Indesit. We thought we were buying a quality fridge, but it turns out we weren't. We've bought the insurance repair or replace policy that Hotpoint sell which they tell you is "very popular with our customers." It cost £185 a year. I waited 2 days for an engineer to come and look at our broken fridge. He came this morning. The compressor is broken but the parts are out of stock.

I purchased my Hotpoint model Hss25gfpa www side by side refrigerator new about 8 or 9 years ago. NOT BUILT TO LAST... Front and sides are rusting, water only works from door dispenser for a few weeks a year the rest of the time is inoperable, NOW FOR THE DANGEROUS PART... When the ice maker still was usable unlike the water dispenser I had dispensed a glass of crushed ice into my large plastic cup. As I drank my beverage with the ice i luckily attempted to chew the remainder of ice left in my mouth before swallowing and taking another drink.

Home depot rob 85 year-old woman in Detroit. Sold her a hot point GE refrigerator that didn't work at all. Robing her out of $2,000.00.

In 2010 I bought a fridge from Hotpoint and found that after just three years rust started appear on the front and on sides. Never had that problem before with any other make. The fridge in question was supposed to be a replacement for a faulty one!!! I will never buy a fridge from this manufacturer again. I purchased other electrical appliances in the same period of time and no rust has appeared on any of them. I need to point out that I keep my house clean and tidy and look after it with pride therefore this fault would never be the result of neglect or misuse of any sort.
