I sent in a claim for an electric issue and the experience was not so good. They sent somebody out but they didn't fix it. I went to Homeserve again to find out what happened with my problem. But it was two weeks ago and nobody called me. So I'm thinking of canceling the insurance because the service is not good. We used them two times and they didn't fix anything. I'm losing money with this kind of insurance.

One of the pipes in my bathroom had a leak and it developed a pinhole in the bath doors. I heard hissing sound of water and water was all on the floor. So I called Homeserve and they scheduled appointment and sent somebody out. The rep was real nice and friendly. She had good customer service. She was very helpful. What I like most about Homeserve was I found one of the contracts and when I called the number on there for repairs, it was an easy process. They answered the phone and got somebody out right away. At first, the rep was telling me they were gonna have to set up an appointment and it'd be on the following week. But I told her, "This is emergency. I have water everywhere." Then she said, "Well, let me try to get somebody out there that day." So Homeserve was real helpful and quick on getting the issue resolved.

I wasn't here for the repairs but one of my kids was. They shared their findings with my son and he sent me pictures of what the problem was. So far, so good. I just gotta fix the hole that they left in my wall. This was my first time using Homeserve and I didn't know what to expect. Even though I pay monthly for the service, I thought they were gonna charge me something for coming out, and that they were gonna charge me for the repair. But so far, I haven't had to pay anything other than my monthly fee. So I would recommend it.

Submitting the claim to Home Serve was just a matter of making a phone call and providing the information over the phone. They have a robotic answering system and you get contacted by the company that they sent it out to. The company calls me to schedule the appointment. Generally, the times that I've had to use Home Serve, it's been the same company. So, I'm familiar with them. HomeServe is timely with the work that I've had done. The cost is relatively low and I get a renewal every year. They're easy to file a claim with and I have never had to pay for any service. Just in the last month, I had plumbing out here, my air conditioner had to be recalibrated and I had electric too. I get a call from the contractor the same day to schedule the appointment and depending on availability, HomeServe gets someone sooner than later.

It's been a very positive experience with HomeServe. But, I applied for coverage thinking that one plan covered both my Lowboy water heaters. Early on, I was made aware that I had to have an individual plan for each heater. But that was quickly resolved and I got the individual coverage. Recently, there was not enough hot water. The techs replaced the part of a heater that they thought needed to be replaced but it went bad again. We're waiting to hear what their decision is on whether they'll replace the heater or the techs would still come to replace the part.

The contractors get in touch with me within 48 hours. Only once did the request go to the wrong department and I didn't hear back from a contractor and had to called back. HomeServe apologized and said, "Oh, well, this should have gone to an appliance contractor, instead it went to a plumbing contractor. That's why you haven't heard back." Otherwise, working with the contractors has been great. The people who have come have been very good. With HomeServe, you're scheduled as soon as possible. They don't put you off weeks and weeks down the line. At this point in our lives, I appreciate having someone that knows the contractors in the area and can reach out to them for me.

I've been with HomeServe for 14 years and it hasn't been successful. It's definitely a bias in whether they want to actually fix things or do buyouts. They're very selective. My recent claim was for my dryer and this dryer was fixed previously. A guy came out and told me, "Definitely, this needed to be a buyout." I called HomeServe and they said that the timing belt can be fixed. Also, the unit was leaking fluids. The tech saw that it didn't connect all the way as far as all the cycles. I had to call him and had to call back HomeServe. It was a big thing. I'm paying all this money and there's no benefit.

When I first called in and explained that our sewer pump was broken, we were told that our policy covered this expense. A plumber from Stott Plumbing came, looked at the pump cover. He said he would have this fixed right away. Then we got a call from HomeServe telling us that the repair was not covered under the policy—sewer pumps are exclusion. So the plumber left. We plan to discontinue this coverage because it does not appear to cover all the essential parts of the sewer system.

In January 2023 I had a water leak, and opened a claim with HomeServe. Their contractor came and repaired the water line on Feb. 4th. However, this contractor did not do concrete work so a different contractor would need to do that. The contractor who fixed the water leak told me they would be back in a month to level out the yard and sow grass back. They never showed up and did not return any of my calls. The concrete was repaired with no issue.

On April 1st I got an email from my water company telling me I had another leak. HomeServe sent another contractor out who told me the original contract used the incorrect fittings to repair the water line. For context, the line was leaking .5 GPM. The second contract was from about 3 hours way from where I live. I say all this because I am now working with the "President's Office" of HomeServe because the first contractor dug under my sidewalk and did not put the dirt back correctly, and my yard has still not been restored. This has cause my yard to erode and the sidewalk to sink.

HomeServe's rep told me it would be another one to two weeks before the company could come out and fix my yard. On asking if they could assign the work order to another company who could get to it faster, I was told that I had the basic restoration plan and it would cost me another $1000 dollars for them to be able to assign it to a different contractor. They will not commit to calling you back within a given time frame (I asked for a call back within 24 hours), and to speak with someone about the rep I was talking to in the President's Office I would have to wait 24 to 48 hours. I would not recommend this company for anyone who actual want the job completed in a timely manner.

A local plumber came out and snaked the sewer pipe and got roots out. He then took a camera into the pipe and showed me several locations where roots had broken through thd pipe which will cause continued blockage as well as leakage. Homeserve told me since I didn't call them first they won't cover anything for unclogging the pipe or perform any repairs to the pipe until it cloggs again. I can understand possibly not covering all costs since I had a plumber that was out of network come in in my haste. But completely refusing to cover any repairs is a complete fraud in my view. Additionally refusing to perform needed repairs on a sewer pipe that is clearly seeping sewage into the ground due to cracks from root invasion is borderline criminal in my book.

What interested me about HomeServe was that they took care of plumbing issues and they had a reasonable price. I called in when I had a plumbing issue. Getting through was fairly easy. This is my second claim with them. The first one took a couple of days, but it was not an emergency situation. I know it takes time and trust, but HomeServe needs to find more contractors. Still, I would tell others to get HomeServe because it's a good coverage for things that go wrong in houses, and it's a lot easier to pay a little bit of a monthly payment than come up with all that money at once.

Having a home warranty is very convenient. It saves me from a lot of research. There are so many people out there that all they want is your money and give you 1% service. Instead of going through the websites, trying to find somebody, I call HomeServe, tell them what I got going, and they take care of it. Get this home warranty, especially when you're 71 years old, like myself.

It’s easy to get through to a representative, which was a great selling point for me. I like the quick service as well. If you call another service, it might take three days. On the other hand, the initial contact person with HomeServe usually sets up things where I can get whatever I need to have taken care of done. The reps are very cordial, prompt and get back with you. It's different with the independent contractors, but I usually go back to HomeServe and let them sort it out. I also wish there was a variety of contractors, but in this area, there's only one that I’ve had dealing with.

Once the cause of our exterior sewage problem was diagnosed by two different plumbers authorized by Homeserve, it took a week for HomeServe to authorize insurance payment to the plumbers. During this time we were told to use little or no water, as the sewage could back up into our basement. This is not tenable and was incredibly stressful.

It took at least 10 phone calls to their call center to get anyone's attention. I then wrote emails to upper operational management, asking them how to get HomeServe's attention. Lo and behold, the next day we had an authorization for the plumbers to proceed. I do not believe this is any way to operate a company which deals with emergency problems in any of a home's infrastructural mechanics. We pay premiums to have timely service, and this we did not get from Homeserve. I am very unhappy with them.

I'm never happy with HomeServe 100%. If I call them 100 times, 50% of that time is not a pleasant experience. But it's insurance, so we got to have it no matter what. The people they send over are never 100% trying to do their work. I've had everything here from plumbers to electricians to sewage stoppage specialists, and I've only been happy with one of the companies that they've sent. Only one of them was exceptional.

Within the first year of purchasing our home, we had a sewage backup into our basement. We called HomeServe and the plumbers came out and unclogged whatever it was and they went on their merry way. It happened two more times and I just got tired of stepping into our basement and finding all kinds of disgusting stuff all over the floor. I finally told HomeServe they had to come and do something about it. We were paying them for their insurance fees and they proceeded to send out a few plumbers who wouldn't do much. They were just doing what I was doing, which was standing over the hole, and saying there’s nothing wrong.

Finally, we got someone who shoved a camera in there and said that our sewage pipe roughly 40 feet away from the house was collapsing. Upon informing HomeServe of that, they weren't too thrilled or excited about sending anybody else out here. They needed more proof. They sent another company out who found that the pipe which was clearly visible in the videos, even when they use their camera, was collapsing. They didn't seem to see a problem with that so they didn't do anything about it and left. I expressed my unhappy satisfaction to HomeServe and everyone else that they sent after that.

We had one gentleman from JBD Rooter and he stuck the camera in there and said that my pipe was in no shape. It needed to be replaced. It was collapsing on itself. He also went in and was able to stick the snake and pull out some blockage. He even shoved it backwards, which no one else had ever done out of the five different companies that came out, and he pulled out even more blockage in that end. A softball sized ball of hair and grease and muck was in there. We haven't had that problem after he left two years ago and he just recently came by because we had a bathtub upstairs backing up. Whenever we flush the toilet, it also did something to the bathtub and he was able to unclog that.

Nonetheless, we always still have that fear of that sewage pipe there that we clearly saw in two different companies’ video where the pipe is supposed to be three inches in diameter, and after they go so many feet, it clearly is visible that it's collapsing. I'm sure they shared that information with HomeServe. But they never did anything about it, never came back.

Even though that had nothing to do with anything- apparently after talking to the water works this is a common theme of HomeServe in trying to get out of paying for repairs. It made no sense. The water works at some point and time “touches” a pipe if they do repairs on a street. That doesn’t mean that it affects a future leak many years later. Don’t waste your money. I've made a few claims and HomeServe seemed to be okay. I had a water heater claim, and I used a third party contractor. HomeServe reimbursed me for half the cost. I've used them once for interior plumbing problem, and they were fine. Two weeks ago, I used them for an exterior sewer line clog. The contractor came out and they got it freed up. Two weeks later, which would put us at this past Saturday, the line was clogged up again. I called another plumber. And they came out and they were able to free up the line.

I was told at that point that I have a lot of tree roots in the sewer line. So, I called back HomeServe on Saturday afternoon after the plumber guy left and said that this plumber told me that I need a new sewer line because I have tree root infestation. The lady said, "Do you have a clog right now?" I said, "Right at this moment, I do not." "We can't really do anything about it."

So, I had the same plumber that I used Saturday come out today to give me an estimate on a sewer replacement line. He said, "It's not going to pass inspection whenever you sell the house. And it's gonna keep clogging up if you do nothing." So, I don't have a warm feeling towards HomeServe. I'm about to call them again to ask if a contractor could come out and diagnose the problem, and see if I could use their plumber to replace my sewer line. And I am totally frightened that they're gonna give me the big runaround.

I have no confidence they would do anything, even to reimburse this sewer line with this other contractor. So if that's going to be the case, I'm just gonna cancel all of my HomeServe policies with them.

I'm entitled to $10,000 maximum for a replacement line. And the estimate I got from the third party contractor, which is unaffiliated with HomeServe, was $9,000. I'm afraid what they would tell me is, "You don't have a clog now. Call us when you have a clog. We'll come out and unclog it." I would end up doing this six times a year until either the pipes burst or something else happens.

But now, I'm having the same issue and the contractor that they reached out to is handling it differently than what the city had advised and what the prior contractor did.

They're advising me to get a second additional water line coverage, which that's not what I needed prior. It seems almost like a sales tactic. I had to wait 30 days with the problem, called HomeServe out, and they're going to contact the same contractor that refused to handle it properly, which I didn't want. This issue still remains and I have to remain with that issue or pay out of pocket for a plumber. I contacted a plumber who advised adjusting the issue at the front of the home, not the back. Other than that, HomeServe is fine. It's up-to-date with this technology, which is all via app or via phone, and I can always call seven days a week. It's accessible and very immediate contact, not in a few hours. That's awesome. Them reaching out and a contractor reaching out to you is fairly quick Sunday to Sunday.

I hate when HomeServe puts me on the phone with that automated person trying to help me. I'd rather talk to a person because the last time I called them, a pipe in my garage broke and there was water in the garage. I called the girls at 7:00 in the morning. The lady told me these people will be calling me back at a certain time, which they never did. So, I had to call back again and I got the automated service, and then a man from a service company called and said that he couldn't get to me until the following day at 11:00. He came, fixed the problem and was professional. Then, the guy that HomeServe originally called said that they never even got the call. He said they called them that day. I was so mad.

My interactions with the techs have been fine. I had someone come out for my heater 'cause the heater was making a lot of noise. The guy said, "This is an old unit, but it's working. Just leave it alone." It's working fine, so I just left it and let it make the noise. It just sounds like a car starting up.

Years ago, a tree was uprooted down in the ground in my backyard, and so I was calling the plumber every month for him to come and do something, and it was $200 each time he came out. In about six months’ time, I had given him $1,200. One of the guys that was working with him told me, “You may need to go to the water works because they have a system.” When they came out, they put the thing in there and I've had no issues with it being backed up. So, the plumbing company that I had was just really playing with it. But since I got HomeServe, it has never happened again that one time that they came out.

The people that came out from HomeServe are wonderful. I let them in the house, and it's just like family. I have a cat and a dog, and they’re always friendly with them. I always tell them that I work from home but I have cameras and they'll pick up once they come on the porch, and so they'll be out there waving, and when I get to the door they're like, “We know you're working from home so we didn't ring the bell or anything like that.” So, I love them. I would recommend HomeServe to everyone.

They found someone who didn't come in until 3 days later to spend 20 seconds in the house and said requires a full replacement and they need to get authorization from HomeServe and they will come in the next day once the authorization is received. No calls from HomeServe for 7 days. Then I get the call this morning to state that they will not cover the issue 'cause it is not an immediate part of the boiler and it is excluded from coverage. I have no problem with they exclusion. I have a problem with the unresponsiveness in the middle of winter taking 7 days to tell me that they won't cover the repair. When I inquired about this before I cancel I was told that there is a minimum 48 hours approval time for anything regardless of if I am having a manageable issue or a major emergency where there is no heat at all.

I had a false sense of security with my coverage thinking that I could rely on them to address any issues I could encounter with my heating or cooling and was completely wrong. Don't make the same mistake I made. You are better off going with your local plumber even if you get ripped off. And just an FYI, after the repair was rejected, I was able to get the part from Home Depot and completed the repair myself under 5 minutes and $145 where the plumber asked for $800.

It seems that the employees of HomeServe do not respect the CEO or any part of leadership. I have come to this conclusion because a member of the Office of the President was scheduled to call me three days ago and completely failed on the return call. My plumbing project started about three weeks ago. My yard is destroyed, there is a giant pile of "shit" in the yard, destroying my wooden fence. The company left without covering a large hole. My dog is an AKC registered Great Pyrenees, he fell in the hole last night. I asked the plumber three times to cover the hole. My bathroom shower walls are covered with "Shit" and the floor has two inches of "shit" all over the tile.

The company never ran a camera down the line and seem to be guessing about the break or stoppage. They have now demanded $2000 to complete the job. The manager, Corey, guaranteed me I would pay zero out of pocket; he lied. This is a disaster that is about to go legal. Since Homeserve thinks this is funny, I guess the judge will determine the level of laughter. I am disappointed in this warranty company and will be filing a lawsuit if repairs are not finished by Monday 12/12/2022. If not repaired, my Christmas guests will be relocated and my Christmas will be ruined. This company has no leadership and the employees have told me all they do is answer complaints all day long.

I have the Homeserve Outside sewer/drain line and outside water line coverage. On October 24th I realized that I had a leaking drain line, water was seeping up between my patio slab and my homes outside wall/foundation and some was seeping into my basement next to a drain line so I contacted Homeserve. The initial response to the call was very good. They took down my information. It was in the evening and passed it along to their contractor in my area. The contractor Paramount PHI Group contacted me the same day and set up an appointment for a Technician to come out the following day. So far so good.

October 25 the Technician arrives and is professional and courteous but seemed to be inexperienced, after I explained the problem to her, water seeping up between my patio slab and sometimes around where my drain line went into my floor slab and out of the house she consulted with Homeserve and her supervisor and concluded without any further investigation that the leak was coming from the pipe in my floor somewhere and Homeserve told them to close my ticket based on the technician's belief that the leak may be coming from inside my foundation wall (and I did not have the inside plumbing plan).

At this time I wasn't absolutely sure whether the leak was coming from inside or outside my home's foundation wall either but Homeserve based on the technician's feedback chose to close the ticket without any further investigation and or diagnosis. Clearly they were trying to get out of covering the repair. So after the Technician left I dug up the area on the outside wall opposite where the drain came down my basement wall which is in a bare dirt corner of my patio. I hadn't even gone down two shovels full before I hit water. I continued digging until I had exposed a broken off section of sewer/drain line. At this point I called Homeserve back and informed them that I did indeed have a broken outside drain/sewer line that was under my Outside sewer/drain line plan. They re-opened the ticket and I was then contacted by the contractor who scheduled a second technician visit.

October 28th the second technician arrives, I show him the broken drain line and hole filled with water. He then contacts Homeserve for permission to proceed, then him and Homeserve basically accuse me of breaking the line in another attempt to get out of covering the repair. After talking to a Homeserve representative and explaining that I only dug up the area to expose the line to see if the issue was outside my house or inside, they finally agreed that it was covered and said they would proceed with the repair.

October 31st another PHI tech Dereck arrives. I had him scheduled for Tuesday November 1st through PHI's receptionist but he called Monday Oct 31st asking if he could come in an hour, since I was already at work which is an hour plus commute from my house. I informed him that I was at work and couldn't be there in an hour but could leave early and be there at 4pm. He agreed and wanted me to call back when I left work which I did. I arrived home by 4pm but he didn't make it to the house until 5pm. We were rapidly losing daylight and after sitting in the van for 15 more minutes he got out a snake and video snake and brought it around to the patio.

Seeing the hole full of water he seemed confused as to what to even do and asked if I had a Shopvac to get the water out. I would expect a sewer/water line repair contractor to have some sort of water pump but they were asking me for a Shopvac. So I get my Shop-vac and get enough water out of the hole to expose the end of the broken off pipe, Dereck snakes it with a regular snake, finds it clogged somewhere under my patio or just beyond, doesn't do the video snake. He then says the Office will be in contact with me and he leaves.

I wait a few days for a call from PHI, they don't call so I contact them on November 4th asking when they are sending someone out. They call Dereck who says he needs to come back out and do the Video Snake and that he tried to contact me to set it up which isn't true. I have his number in my phone from the previous call. They make a new appointment for November 7th and Dereck is no show.

November 10th I call back to inquire on the status of my ticket and they now say they have a special snake head on order and when it comes in they will contact me to reschedule. I wait a week or so with no response and then call Homeserve to make a complaint on November 18th. They call PHI. Talk to Dereck who now claims the wrong part came in (snake attachment) and they are waiting on the correct one. I wait a while again with no word from PHI.

November 30th once again I call PHI for an update. They contact Dereck again and say he will be out that day or the next day December 1st. Again Dereck does not show, my wife was home both days and no one from PHI came by. So here I am. It's now December 8th. The ground will be starting to freeze soon and they haven't even determined the scope of my repair let alone started it. I have zero confidence in the contractor's ability to show up let alone actually be able to repair my broken drain line. But Homeserve does not allow you to select your contractor so you are stuck with complete and utter incompetence in some cases with not recourse.

Frankly at this point besides cancelling my coverage with them I am seriously considering hiring an actual competent Septic/sewer line repair contractor and taking them to small claims court for the cost of the repair and my legal fees. That and contacting my water sewer utility who sent me their literature in the first place to file a complaint. This experience has been utterly abysmal, do not buy Homeserve Plans as they will do everything they can to avoid paying for your repair and at least some of their contractors are incompetent, that is if you can even get them to show up.

And it took multiple repeat in orders for them to finally send a camera. They just did the scope yesterday. But if they did the camera, why do they have to come back and use it again? If you have to call the sewage company to come twice within two months, that should automatically be that you put a camera in the lines to see what's going on. It shouldn't be that the homeowner has to deal with backing up poop, piss and toilet paper throughout the house and the stink for months and months when they could have addressed it. Who likes to live in a house like that? They acted like the camera cost more. It was right there on the truck.

I kept asking to talk to a manager when I called and I would be put on hold. Then the lady rep would say that the manager said I need to talk to someone in the cost analysis department but no one would call me back. So we lost a whole day because I was waiting to talk to somebody else.

We were given the runaround and passed to a company. That company gave us an estimate that seemed high. When I asked HomeServe about it, they wouldn't give me a breakdown of what we were being charged for. The contractor's office couldn't give it to us either saying that HomeServe doesn't allow them to. I asked about having another contractor come and they told us that would make our out-of-pocket expenses go up. I said, “Well, then I don't want to do that.” But they did it anyway. I've been paying the local energy company for insurance, who uses HomeServ, for years only to receive this poor service. For over 1 month now I have been having to turn the water on/off at the meter on the street to avoid thousands of gallons of water to leak into my basement. It looks like I will end up paying a plumber myself.

Original Review: I have a water leak between the meter and the house which is covered. It took 3 weeks to detect where the leak was and schedule someone to come and fix it. The day they were to come there was an emergency and the equipment was sent somewhere else. Now, my next date is over 1 month from the date I reported the issue and the water leak is major, potentially causing issues with the foundation of my home. I have to turn the water on/off at the meter when I need to shower etc., which is very inconvenient and the water company only adjust the bill a certain amount. My last bill was $600.00. Better to pay someone than rely on this service. I will be cancelling!!!

On 11/21/22 a technican from McAtee Plumbing and Heating came out to find out why the heating system was blowing out cold air. He begin to say it was the wiring, then maybe the thermostat and then the final word was my evaporator coils. He replaced a box on the wall and that was it. He closed out the ticket and said the issue was fixed, and that I needed my evaporator coil replaced. He said "the reason people go the cheap route when replacing ac units is money." I told him this unit was only about 3 years old and the installation was done by a professional. He closed out the ticket and told HomeServe the issue was repaired, it is not. That I had heat. Emergency heat only comes on when the temperature drops down to 30 or below.

I asked for a second opinion and was asked to call and schedule an appointment with McAtee. No one at McAtee after I left a message returned my call. The guy Zach at Home Serve told me we cannot call about a part to the manufacturer. I told him my ac/heat pump was covered under warranty and could have been ordered at no charge and replaced once it arrived. He told me the tech said it was the evaporator coils. I never asked Home Serve to call about replacing a part. The guy Zach was no help at all so I hung up. Last week one of the Home Serve people left me a message saying I was trying to make a deal with the McAtee HVAC tech.

I do not need to make no deals because my unit is under warranty and I pay them for warranty service. The technician wanted me to call his personal phone instead of the warranty company once I received the part. That I was not going to do. Because I felt he wanted to charge me outside of the warranty company service I pay for. I have decided to get a second opinion on my own as I do not believe it is the evaporator coils. My heat was working last year with no problem.

Some of the representatives at Home Service do not care and will not take time to listen to the customer. I now will be looking for another home warranty company. When my refrigerator went out they had to send three people to repair it and I was told they have few technicians in their list for repairs. This is unacceptable. The end result is the tech left me with emergency heat and did not find out why cold air is blowing out of my ac ducts.

HomeServe response to service calls is ridiculous. I have the Premium subscription but repairs to my appliances takes anywhere from 10 to 19 days. Meantime I spend money at the Laundromat. Remember they work with 3rd party contractors so if you call to complain they'll tell you to call the Contractor, there is nothing they can do to help. Currently I called for a dryer repair on the 19th. I was informed today that the servicemen will come on the 31st. Really? And when they come all they do is find out the part you need and order it which takes another 5 to 7 days. HomeServe.. drop serve from your name.

I was not pleased with the overall attitude of the plumber that cleaned out my kitchen pipes. I would ask him a question, and he would talk down to me. Of course, my thoughts of why the plugged-up pipe could have happened that way so he said. He kept saying to stop putting grease down my pipes. I do not just put grease down my pipes in huge quantities. He did not have a bucket, and at one point when he started auging out the pipe he did not put the bucket that I gave him under the pipe and grease went everywhere. He attempted to clean up the grease with not much success. I just hope that if I have a problem again that this plumber is not sent to me.

You never know when they are backed up with calls, but this particular time, the time frame was very reasonable. We couldn't figure out what was going on, so they used a camera and we could see exactly what the issue was. I've had a similar problem in the past, and this contractor did the best job and solved the problem. They went from the roof, which previous contractors had not done. It was an improvement as far as ease of access and less mess in the house. They also used a water blaster instead of an old-fashioned rotary device, and that worked really well. They were a good team. It was a young man and woman, which was nice to see a woman out there working. I liked it.

Homeserve was very prompt in assigning a contractor to our plumbing issue. The issue was a blocked bathroom sink. The contractor came once and applied a simple fix to free the blockage of the sink. However just two weeks later the same problem occurred and Homeserve was contacted again. Homeserve assigned the same contractor who came again and did a thorough assessment only to find the blockage deeper in the pipes behind the walls in the house. The contractor who repaired our plumbing was equally prompt and responsive and completed the job to our satisfaction.

The reason is I am confident I will have help when needed and at peace that if a covered benefit, I won't be facing an unexpected high cost of repair. I prefer budgeting for premium costs versus being hit with a large repair bill at an unprepared time. I get immediate response when I call the help center and the repair service calls back in the time frame the help center tells me I can expect a call. The repair services have been professional and excellent in their work. It seems like Home Serve only contracts with quality businesses. I have used HomeServe many times and have never been disappointed with the process or with the repair services. I do recommend HomeServe and will continue my own policies with them.

The sink in one of my bathrooms got stuffed up, and anytime one has a plumbing problem, it happens on a Friday night or Saturday on a holiday weekend. I used to have a plumber that I knew, but he went off to Columbia and I can't find him anymore. HomeServe sent a plumber, and he came the next day. Somebody called me Friday night and said, "Hey, you think you can wait till Monday?" I said I could. It was not a tremendous deal, but then the company called me up Saturday morning and said, "We have a technician out there where you live if you want somebody to come." I said, "Yeah, send them over now," then I didn't have to even look at the thing.

I have a couple of policies with HomeServe. I've had them for a few years at my house and even before that, when I owned another house. It's good for the price. I get a yearly AC or heating checkup, and it used to be we couldn't get an appointment sooner. Make the appointment in June, and you get an appointment in October. This year was no big deal though. I got relatively new equipment, so it's nothing going to be wrong with my stuff anyway, but they still come and do their thing. I'm happy with it. I've recommended them to other places.

We had a rocky start to this repair as the plumber sent by Home Serve seemed uninterested in finding the source of the problem, he said the line had to be replaced, turned out he was inspecting our neighbor's line and did not run a camera from inside our house. We had to lobby for a second opinion which was initially turned down, but once we got a different plumber in we were able to find the break in the line and Home Serve authorized the repair. The person at Home Serve who took over claim did a fantastic job of handling our repair. We did incur extra expense because the initial plumber sent by Home Serve did a horrible job, but our overall experience with Home Serve was excellent since they did make sure that our claim ultimately was resolved.

HomeServe is well worth it and before this last call, I was very happy with their contractors. They were very nice, polite and did good work. But this last time I had a plumbing problem, I had to make many calls before somebody ever picked up their phone. That has never happened before with HomeServe. Also, I told the person I was speaking with to make sure that the techs have shoe covers and masks. They showed up, rang the doorbell and I opened the door, and they didn’t have masks or shoe covers on. So, I asked the guy if they had those. He said he would go back to the truck. So, I closed the door and came in the house. When they came in, I noticed that they had on masks but I didn't look down at their feet to see if they had on shoe covers until we got upstairs in the dressing room and there they both were standing without shoe covers.

Shoe covers are very important to me. When I leave home, I spray my shoes and leave them in the garage before I come in the house. I don't want all of that stuff you see in the street in my house, on my carpet. The guys said they didn't have any shoe covers and I said that he should have told me. I would rather have him tell me they don't have any and then come back the next day with shoe covers. I don't wear shoes in my house and everybody else that know me when they come here know to take off their shoes especially with the virus out there and everything that you see on the street.

They assured me they're not fraudulent like that. Well, I recently needed my sewer line lateral curb trap fixed, as a PREVENTATIVE measure. They sent a plumber who only flushed out the line. They found a way to deny my claim, saying they don't cover things outside the house, especially if it's not an emergency. I cancelled the policy and they sent me back a refund for the remaining few months. Fortunately the coverage cost me under $200 for a year, so it wasn't a massive loss. This company is low-key fraudulent. If you DO want to take the risk, make sure you read the fine print, and TALK TO ONE OF THEIR AGENTS FIRST (ask specific questions, and record their answers if possible), before paying anything.

Technician has told me they don’t repair the kind I have and one even said he had never seen a floor furnace. I provided a company name and phone number of a licensed and insured company that does work on the type of furnace I have but HomeServe never called them. I have a contract with HomeServe for this service and I have so far paid thousands of dollars to be covered by them. They keep trying to send people out to my house that can do irreparable harm to my property and the people living in the house rather than get qualified, licensed, insured and, yes, SOBER people to come to my house.

It is now Sept. 13. More than one month since I called initially. They keep putting me back in the queue after I call to ask, why hasn’t any qualified company come yet to look at my furnace. The last company they said they were going to send would not tell me how or why they were qualified to work on a gas floor furnace. Every other company that I know discloses that type of information without hesitation. Any company that would not tell or provide a homeowner a way to know their credentials is a company that a homeowner needs to stay away from. Perhaps, HomeServe only hires subpar and potentially dangerous small business owners. If that’s the case then I have wasted my trust and a lot of money in HomeServe contracts. HomeServe hired a company called K&S Plumbing to come out and try to clear a stoppage in the bottom of a drain of a shower in my basement. The guy spent about two hours trying to clear the clog and he had no success. I called his office and talked to them and they concluded that I had some kind of extra tank in the yard that had to be cleared. I have no other tank in the yard that we’re aware of. As it turns out, that was not true. Because when he left and couldn't clear it, I had to call another plumber to come out and take a look. He spent about 15 minutes figuring out what the issue was and another 15 minutes clearing the clog in the drain. He charged me $307 for doing that. So HomeServe owes me $307 and I'm not happy with it.

I am about to cancel everything I have with HomeServe because of it. They are not hiring highly qualified people to come and do the work that they need to have done for their customers. I got a call from them about providing repair for electric circuits in my house. This was before the plumbing issue came up and I had agreed to go ahead with that. The guy said I will have 30 days to look this over and cancel if I want to cancel it. I have yet to receive anything by email or by mail describing what the details of the service are.

A service company has been out twice in the last week and a half or a week to 10 days. The first time they came out was for the toilet bowl, the tank, the fill valve, the faucet in the shower that won't turn on, and the plugged-up sink in the kitchen. The only thing they fixed was the valve in the toilet and I had to pay for that. It was not worth it. The tech knew what he was doing. I know the service company and I've dealt with them for a lot longer than I've been with HomeServe. He came out a second time and he did great. He got my sink unplugged in the kitchen. Having HomeServe is convenient.

I’m signed up with Dominion for one air conditioner. If the air conditioner needs some work done on it, I call the 24-hour number and give them a $50 charge on the credit card. Techs come out and fix the air conditioner. Before, I had a very old system that was from 2007 and it was having issues. It was about to die. Last year, they replaced a fan. This year, there was a thing that wasn't draining water right and they fixed that. They also fixed some kind of a sensor thing. The techs have always been good.

They were the best plumbers that I have ever had in my home. They fixed my problem. The only thing is I don't know if there is a problem with the pipes to the street. I am very satisfied with the job that was done. It was a pleasure. Thanks.

I kept getting these scary mailings about potential costs of a water line break. And the relatively cheap cost of insurance - a little over $5. And this is what I was told unless I bought their more expensive package: debris removal is not included and repairs do not include anything but making the area “safe”. I first called and couldn’t believe my ears, so I confirmed through their online chat.

My waterline is partially under a city sidewalk, and continues under my lawn. “So you are telling me that if the repair people destroy the sidewalk, they can just put cones around the area to make it “safe” leaving me to have to find a company to fix the sidewalk, and in the process they can leave a massive mountain of debris on my lawn for me to have to find companies to fix my lawn as well as remove the debris?” “Yes that is correct”. So bottom line you could be left with thousands of dollars out of pocket. “I suggest you consider one of our bigger packages” - what a ripoff.

The customer service was good but the provider they were using was not. It took two days to get somebody out and they didn't even return my call. When they finally called, they said it would be a week and a half before they could come and that was unacceptable. Other than that, everything went smoothly. Now that we've got the issue repaired, I feel just fine with HomeServe.

I called because my AC was not working. HomeServe sent a technician and he replace the part and everything was fine for 3 days. I called again and a different technician came. He looked at the outside unit ade decided I could have a R-22 leak however he never went in the attic to confirm there was a leak. He tells my husband (I was working) that he will put R-22 in the system. He did not say how much this will cost. When he was done I got a bill for $1,919.25 and it lasted 30 minutes. If he would of check for a leak and found one this would not of happened. I'm out almost $2000.00 and it's 90 degrees in my house. I would have put that $2000.00 on a new system instead of throwing $2000.00 away. I've called twice to talk to a supervisor and no one calls be back. My husband is 75 and I'm 72. We are on a fixed income and that is why I took this plan to avoid all this.

I just call a number and tell HomeServe our problem, and they dispatch someone out to resolve it. Once they assign it to one of the contractors, we would typically get a call, email or text from whoever that they've been assigned our job, and when they're expected to arrive. So far, over the years, it has been anything from great to, we specifically requested some don't come back out. They just say "Okay," and find someone else. It has been easy. HomeServe has been worthwhile for us. My sewer line is more than I paid them a year. If they don't want to fix it permanently, they can continue to come out yearly and take care of my needs.

I love HomeServe. I've had them for a couple years and their service has been quick and easy. I used them for my central air because apparently, between the time it was put it in and when the tech looked at it, the wire had vibrated off. All he had to do was put the wire back on and leave, and it's back to normal now. I also had a plumbing issue when the water heater went out and I couldn't relight it. The techs who came out were great as well. They did a rehab on the bottom and that made it good for another eight to 10 years. I've ** about that payment every month because our water bill is cheap except for the MSD and HomeServe. They're the highest part of my water bill. But when it happened, I said, “I am not complaining anymore.”
