Every time we have ever used HomeServe, we've been very happy with them. I've liked every one of them that have been in the house. I had a claim with them recently. There were three things that were going on. Two have already been fixed. They were in and out in no time. I've had family and friends that said they have a tough time getting a plumber to come out ‘cause they won't do small jobs. To have someone come out as fast as they did was wonderful. HomeServe has vetted these people and have been happy with the work they've done for other people. For the third one, I have to have the water company shut the line off out at the street, which is the one thing they have to come back to do. It was leaking around the shut off valve where the water comes into the house.

HomeServe is insurance, and I like to have insurance. We just have to call up and tell them what the problem is, and they send somebody out. Somebody came out to the house for an electrical problem. And he fixed the problem and that was it. I've told people to get HomeServe. It's good to have, especially if you own a home.

The customer service is one of the worse I have ever dealt with. The resistance to getting service after paying for a contract is ridiculous! I talked to a lady named Ellen and she was the most resistant, rude, and unprofessional I have had the displeasure of dealing with. I have 4 homes with them and I will now discontinue service with them because of her rudeness. She is not the first one that has been rude but she is definitely the last one I will deal with!

HomeServe got someone out immediately within that same day. The representatives were very kind and professional. The first contractor that they sent out did the repair but didn't do great job. It started leaking again twice. HomeServe had to call someone else out two days ago, and we haven't had any problems since then.

HomeServe wasn't able to help me, but I appreciate the speedy response. They responded within less than an hour which was phenomenal because I've tried many different warranty companies and HomeServe is by far, the most receptive. I appreciate that because everybody else would say they'd be out in a week. If you got a plumbing problem, you can't wait a week. But their policy was they couldn't remove the toilet so they had to send the second person out, which was kind of a pain in the butt. They came out and apparently, the house is on a community septic system.

There was a drip downstairs in the utility room where it has a concrete floor. I called HomeServe and asked them. They were gonna send somebody that day. I got doctor's appointments all afternoon so I asked if they could come in the morning. They sent me somebody over here the next day in the morning. He fixed it right away.

If you are looking to purchase insurance for plumbing, hot water heater or anything else in your home, I would suggest going to another company. This company does not take your complaints seriously. If you have a plumbing problem, you can wait up to 3 days to hear from them. Imagine if you had an emergency, say a burst pipe with water flowing all over your basement and you have to wait 3 days to hear from them? I had hot water heater insurance with them for years. When I saw that my hot water heater had a leak I called them. They said they only cover repairs to a hot water heater. Ask any plumber and they will tell you most hot water heaters need to be replaced not repaired. So I cancelled that insurance and realized that I had thrown away so much on them. My advice, go somewhere else.

My experience as far as the insurance company was very good although my experience with the contractors was horrible. They did not put the driveway back the way they found it so I get to pay to get the driveway fixed. I would not recommend that contractor to anybody. They made the experience very very bad and from everybody I've asked. They did not finish their work and left it to me to complete. I would not recommend that contractor to anyone.

HomeServe contractors always let me know what they are doing. And they're respectful. The contractor was a nice young man. He knew what he was doing. He did the work from the front but he went around, showed me where it's wet. Branches are one of my regular things all the time. And I'm trying to keep the wipes out of the bathroom. So, I've got a brand-new toilet.

When things go out, HomeServe helps me out. I'll be able to get my stuff fixed. And it’s at a low-cost rate. The only thing is I would like more bundle of deals for even with the appliances. Recently, the ac had an issue with a plug-in coil. The contractor checked everything, and he said one of the switches was off. But it was a quick, easy fix for him.

HomeServe hired a company called K&S Plumbing to come out and try to clear a stoppage in the bottom of a drain of a shower in my basement. The guy spent about two hours trying to clear the clog and he had no success. I called his office and talked to them and they concluded that I had some kind of extra tank in the yard that had to be cleared. I have no other tank in the yard that we’re aware of. As it turns out, that was not true. Because when he left and couldn't clear it, I had to call another plumber to come out and take a look. He spent about 15 minutes figuring out what the issue was and another 15 minutes clearing the clog in the drain. He charged me $307 for doing that. So HomeServe owes me $307 and I'm not happy with it.
I am about to cancel everything I have with HomeServe because of it. They are not hiring highly qualified people to come and do the work that they need to have done for their customers. I got a call from them about providing repair for electric circuits in my house. This was before the plumbing issue came up and I had agreed to go ahead with that. The guy said I will have 30 days to look this over and cancel if I want to cancel it. I have yet to receive anything by email or by mail describing what the details of the service are.

A service company has been out twice in the last week and a half or a week to 10 days. The first time they came out was for the toilet bowl, the tank, the fill valve, the faucet in the shower that won't turn on, and the plugged-up sink in the kitchen. The only thing they fixed was the valve in the toilet and I had to pay for that. It was not worth it. The tech knew what he was doing. I know the service company and I've dealt with them for a lot longer than I've been with HomeServe. He came out a second time and he did great. He got my sink unplugged in the kitchen. I kept getting these scary mailings about potential costs of a water line break. And the relatively cheap cost of insurance - a little over $5. And this is what I was told unless I bought their more expensive package: debris removal is not included and repairs do not include anything but making the area “safe”. I first called and couldn’t believe my ears, so I confirmed through their online chat.
My waterline is partially under a city sidewalk, and continues under my lawn. “So you are telling me that if the repair people destroy the sidewalk, they can just put cones around the area to make it “safe” leaving me to have to find a company to fix the sidewalk, and in the process they can leave a massive mountain of debris on my lawn for me to have to find companies to fix my lawn as well as remove the debris?” “Yes that is correct”. So bottom line you could be left with thousands of dollars out of pocket. “I suggest you consider one of our bigger packages” - what a ripoff.

He tells my husband (I was working) that he will put R-22 in the system. He did not say how much this will cost. When he was done I got a bill for $1,919.25 and it lasted 30 minutes. If he would of check for a leak and found one this would not of happened. I'm out almost $2000.00 and it's 90 degrees in my house. I would have put that $2000.00 on a new system instead of throwing $2000.00 away. I've called twice to talk to a supervisor and no one calls be back. My husband is 75 and I'm 72. VERY DISSATISFIED! We contacted HomeServe when our refrigerator broke last month. They assured me that I would get a call back to move forward with getting a company out to fix our frig. (Keep in mind, our refrigerator was broken and we had to put our food in coolers.) I called them back 2 days later to follow up on the call. I kept being transferred and finally got to someone who then stated that I was not even on the call log because my service call was not yet paid for. I paid for the call and then it seemed like the ball was finally beginning to roll.
A technician finally came out which was 3 days later after the initial call. The technician stated that a part needed to be ordered or picked up and that he would let us know the status of that part either that evening or the next day. Well, 3 days later we were waiting on the call back from the technician. So, we called back to follow up. The lady in Customer Service said she would try to contact the technician to find out the status. She called us back to say that the part is no longer available per the technician.
At this time, we are at a week with NO frig! During the meantime, we had to get someone on our own to look at our frig. This person told us what was needed to make the frig work and where to pick up the part. We went and picked up the part, our contact put the part in and the frig has been working ever since. Several days after our frig was fixed by our person, HomeServe called and left a message on my phone to say the same thing - - that the part is no longer available (this was like 2 weeks later). I called and cancelled all of our contracts with HomeServe. Looking for service elsewhere.

This review is based on my experience with Homeserve and it was not a positive one. I have requested service because I had an external leak on my house, they sent a few plumbers to my house and all of them have the same report, that my exterior pipes needed excavation, it is a very costly job. They gave me a plumbing company that was not transparent on when the job will get done. I keep following up for 3 weeks between Homeserve and the plumbing company they assigned and nothing was still scheduled.
All that time waiting my basement started leaking sewage water in which they sent me a new company. When this new company they sent informed the rep on what needed to be done (which was the same across the board with all other company they sent.) and made them aware of the cost, the rep which was on speaker with the company they sent and my husband listening verbalized that they will need to send another company local to us to re-evaluate.
By this time, they have assigned a few plumbing companies to re evaluate the same problem and the costly fix that needed to be done. For inexpensive fix, they definitely have many affiliate plumbers they can send, but my conclusion is for very costly repairs they will give you many excuses, many talks to reps and so called supervisors with no resolution. We ended up getting the job done and paid for all expense out of pocket cause it was no longer healthy for us to communicate with them. Very dissapointed and will never recommend them basing on my experience.

My husband and I were expecting the service technician to tell us that our plumbing problem was not within the scope of work and charge us. Didn’t happen. He snaked my kitchen sink and adjusted the lever in my tub so the water can drain properly; however, that didn’t solve the bathroom issue. But he informed me that I have 90 days (I think it was 90 days or 60 days) to have them come back out if there were issues. So, I will be giving them a call back.
I must say, it was truly a peace of mind and relief of stress having to find a plumber. I would definitely encourage taking advantage of adding the services to your bill. Especially for the outside plumbing. If you haven’t had a huge plumbing issue with the sewer yet, let me tell you, you can end up spending about $18,000! HomeServe sent out two plumbing companies who were not able to resolve the problem in my basement. The third, John of AA Drain, drove 100-miles round trip, and solved it in half an hour. He cleaned the basement up from the first plumber, and my yard did not have to be dug up, as the other two had advised. As a bonus to me, he told me what I needed to do to address the deep sinkhole which had recently appeared in my front yard. John was the Best! While the first two companies did not solve the problem, I was pleased HomeServe kept sending plumbers until the problem was over. I really appreciated this dedication to serving me, their customer, until the problem was fixed. Very pleased I signed up with HomeServe years ago.

I said there is not supposed to be a fee, which is one of the reasons I signed up with them. She took the fee off. After 3 weeks and 5 contacts to Homeserve, I still have not been contacted by a service contractor to come and inspect damage to mini-split HVAC. Customer representatives are professional, but cannot get their sub-contractors to respond despite numerous emails and phone messages. Problem is mostly with the contractors they have on call ... they simply do not make contact with end customer.

The customer has provided an update and advised that HomeServe would not cover his mini-split under his Surge policy. An agent apologized to the customer for the ongoing delays and time spent reaching out. There were delays getting the information from the customer since leaving a voicemail was not an option. In addition, HomeServe needed the brand name or model number to proceed with the claim. Once the agent obtained the information, they sent an update to the surge department, which spent time researching the unit.

After repeated telephone calls, Home Serve rejected coverage, and would not explain why. The coverage is extended through utility companies. I repeatedly gave information on my account listed with the utility companies, and Home Serve said the coverage would be extended. But each time, after several weeks, I received many notices through the mail saying the coverage would not be issued - without giving any explanation. I explained to representatives about the problem, was told it would be corrected, and again I received several notices through the mail that the insurance coverage could not be extended. Hi my name is Sam. I live in Damascus Oregon. I have had Home Serve for many years. So I had a leak back in 2016. They came and fixed it. I’ve been paying insurance for many years. So in 2022 it leaked from the same exact place again and I tried to do a claim. We had Apollo plumbing come out and give us a bid and they told us that the waterline would need to be replaced. Once home serve heard about that they were coming up with all sorts of excuses not to pay. They will pay for a small things but when it comes to a major repair they will not pay. They were trying to tell me that my waterline is in my neighbor's property but that line is part of my easement.
Be very careful with this company. I’m going to be in the process of filing a lawsuit against this company. Meghan ** in upper management was disrespectful and did not want to pick up my calls and to mention again in 2016 they fixed a water leak in the same exact spot that I’m trying to get it fixed now and they’re telling me that it was not covered under my insurance but they gladly took money all these years so be very careful with this company. They try to come on here and answer questions and make themselves look good but they are a big scam. Be very, very careful I paid thousands of dollars into this insurance and now when it comes to pay they will not pay. Remember they will only pay very small insurance claims. Again be very very careful

I called on Monday morning with a no cooling situation, and was placed on the schedule for Wednesday for the evening block. I immediately received confirmation of my appointment. On Wednesday morning, I received a text and email canceling my appointment and no additional follow up to indicate a new provider would be servicing my home. As an employee, I could see it was supposed to be sent to a new HVAC provider. If I was a regular customer, this would be extremely poor service! At 7:50 pm, I called to confirm I was still receiving service and it was apparently not dispatched to the new provider. I was told by Stanley that I would receive a call the next day. Fingers crossed, as we are heading into a holiday week end!
The next day, I did receive a call that I would receive service. However, I was not told when or by whom. Again, I was able to look in the system and could see that the provider from Kensington, PA was coming to service my home in West Chester on Saturday. No one asked if Saturday would work for us, and again it’s the holiday week end! Here I go making another phone call, and explain the situation to the very nice representative. She was the only one who communicated and understood. She had someone from Springfield, PA out to her home and fixed the problem by the end of that business day.
Our AC in PA was fixed. We were able to get in the car afterwards and head to our vacation home at the Jersey shore to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. The same home that we had discussed purchasing a HomeServe HVAC contract for, but after last week's experience, I have second thoughts to be honest. I also out sourced my cleaning to a reputable local HVAC company and paid double the price because I didn’t want to be rescheduled and annoyed like I was with the no cooling situation. I can only hope my heat never goes out or maybe we should consider a contract with a local and reliable HVAC company! My first experience was not top notch.

He found out that the thing inside the tanks wasn’t set to let the water in. Once he went into the tanks and did whatever he did, the water flushed. My sink had a smell in the bathroom and he took the pipe loose and cleaned the sink to dry them out.

His & Hers Plumbing Company was hired through my warranty service company, HomeServe. His And Hers employees indicated that my hot water circulation pump was not working. They indicated that per my contract, they would provide replacement and installation with no charge. After about an hour, I received a call indicating that the replacement pump was unavailable.
I checked on Amazon and found that the part was readily available. I called the company and spoke with a partner-owner named Larry. He indicated they would provide an alternative replacement pump, but it would cost me $226 to install this pump since it was not directly compatible with mine. I indicated that I wanted exact replacements for my pump, but Larry was resistant to do that. I even offered to pay for the installation if they would send the identical part. Again, he refused. When I pressed him about his refusal to send an identical pump, he confessed that he was on a budget and the difference in costs was $19. The pump cost me $494.88.
I contacted the HomeServe office and the company that sent these other people. They denied my request for reimbursement on the basis that I used my plumber instead of their vendor, which is ludicrous because the reason I used my plumber was that their vendor was not adequate. I'm less than pleased. What I wound up paying was exactly what I would have paid if I had not had the HomeServe contract I paid my premium for all this time, and I wound up paying like I didn't have it.
They said the coverage would cover my appliances and waterline, and it turned out to be a good deal because our hot water heater went out. In contrast to what happened here, they replaced it without question. It would have cost me $1,600 to $1,800 for a new water heater. They put it in and installed it, and it was no problem. But this company that they've had as a vendor is probably the cheapest company that was why they went with them. When I went online and checked the feedback, my experience was not at all unusual. Person after person complained about of all kinds of shenanigans that they experienced.
Twice, somebody from HomeServe called, but I wasn't able to get to the phone. He and I had been trading phone calls. After the complaint was denied, I called back and spoke with the person in the complaint department and indicated that the idea that being denied because I didn't go with their vendor was ludicrous if they read my complaint. I told them that my alternative was to follow through with the Better Business Bureau and North Carolina’s Consumer Protection Agency.

Most of them told me that it's not worth it because you get charged monthly and when you have a problem and need to use the service they give you the runaround. I signed up anyways and couldn't be happier. When I had a sewer backup recently I called Home Serve and they said they'll have a sewer company reach out to me shortly. I came out in the summertime and I checked the water outside and I heard the water flowing. The steel broke off and there was flood everywhere. The plumber that same said it was due to it getting old. But HomeServe kept saying that they could not pay for it because it was a busted pipe even when it wasn't. The plumber talked to the lady over the phone and he was trying to describe to her that over time, the pipe would get old. He cut the water on and it just broke off. It was the inside-outside plumbing. The lady still said they would not pay for it. She wanted to talk to me and I was so mad, I hung up on her. I was upset with them for what just happened. I might as well get rid of this service as I'm paying them for nothing.
When my furnace went out, HomeServe said the heating and cooling don't go together. Heating was one price and cooling was another. I ended up buying my own furnace. HomeServe asked if I still wanted to get heating. I said the furnace I got has a warranty on it. The rep kept on talking and put it on there anyway. I called this other lady again to take the heating right back out the same day. I said, “She’s pushing me to get it on. I can't do it.” I still have cooling. I had a water leak and it turned out there was a leak in the pipe from the water main to the house. It's partially underneath my driveway. I called HomeServe and they said they had somebody out there. It took two or three days for them to get out here. They probably only have a few guys in the big area. That aside, that was acceptable. I know they just can't come out here at the last minute although I would have liked that. Because there was a delay in the time it took the techs to get here, I got to the point that I had to turn the water main off and on to get water to the house because it was leaking really profusely. Once they figured out what to do and started work, they got it done and that was great. The only problem was they had to cut a portion of my driveway. They had to tear the whole driveway down and they made a patchwork instead of making it match the other side.
Six months later, it had turned orange. It was great for Halloween but it wasn't very good for the looks of my driveway. I contacted HomeServe again and it was taking a little bit longer. They sent me the report and I sent a photograph. We went back and forth like that for a while. I thought they would just send the same people that came out that did the job to repair what they had done. But HomeServe hires the stuff out. There were a lot of things having to do with getting the right contractor. The problem I had was nobody wants to do the work. All the contractors in my area in Mission Viejo seemed to be really busy. They were all giving me really high quotes.
I thought HomeServe was going to take care of getting a contractor out here. It turned out I had to go find my own contractor and get it done. That was a negative because I figured they’re the one that's insured, they’re the one that hired the guy, they’re the one that should either have him come out and do it right or something. I finally found a guy that was working up the street and asked him if he’s a registered contractor and had a license. He did. He said, "I've got everything here I need. It's when I'm finished and you're happy with the job, then you'll pay me.” He was type of guy I wanted to do business with. These service people had a different way of doing things and they did a wonderful job.
I paid for the contractor to do the job after he left. He came back three days later to make sure the concrete had hardened and I gave him a check. I told HomeServe about it. It took about three days to get back to me. A check came last night for the reimbursement. On the whole, I would give HomeServe a C on acknowledging the work and getting somebody out here to do it. It wasn't as timely as I wanted and that would be their only negative. The people were friendly and forthright. In the end, I was persistent and everything got done and it looks really good so I'm happy now.
I have recommended HomeServe to other people, saying that our houses are reaching that 50-year age limit and there are all these pipes there that are copper and getting old. I had bids to fix that upwards of $2,000. With HomeServe, it would only cost a small amount of money. It's $100 a year. HomeServe more than pays for itself if you kept it for 10 years and didn't use it. It's well worth having.

Dominion utilizes HomeServe as a 3rd party subcontractor for plumbing issues. I had an issue and wanted a local, reputable plumber to address a simple leak and drain issue with my dishwasher. In South Carolina, a plumber has to be licensed with the LLR. Their plumber came out days after I called and did not fix the issue properly. This resulted in my sink cabinet rotting out (the whole thing needed replaced) and two dishwashers had to be replaced due to negligence. I asked for paperwork, the name of the plumber and warranty of service. None of this occurred and it escalated to Dominion turning off my power over a simple dispute. The person was not licensed - do NOT utilize this service. The local, licensed plumber I used made a statement that these "warranty services" are notorious for not doing what they promise and causing issues. I found out too late. HomeServe’s services have been great. It's real easy to use. The guys that come out have been really helpful. HomeServe has been working out well. I'm glad I got it. Someone recently came out for the plumbing thing. I was notified by my water service provider that we had a leak. I didn't really know how to isolate it. So, I got in touch with HomeServe so they could come out and figure out where the leak was at. I was told that they didn't go inside to check, but they would check outside and let me know if they would see anything. When the tech looked at the meter, it wasn't continuously running. So, it didn't really show that it had a leak, but it's kind of an intermittent thing. He said, if that’s the case, it’s most likely something with the toilet leaking periodically. He explained how to check to see if my toilet flaps, and if they’re allowing water to seep through occasionally.
I watched the video on how to replace them. It does look like we do have leaks in our toilet. Now, I just had to figure out what kind of flaps I need to buy, and then try to replace them myself. The tech was pretty helpful. It would have been nice if he could have isolated it himself, but he explained how to put dye in it and then check it later, to see if the water with the dye flowed into the toilet bowl. I understand he can’t spend all day waiting for each toilet. So, it worked out. I was fine with how he explained it, and the solution for it, too. I was okay with doing that myself. Overall, HomeServe is great. The website is great. It shows all the different services they provide. I’m more of a visual person. So, it would be good if there was like a video.

I've been protected with HomeServe for over a year. I started off with just the water and the gas coverage, and then I picked up two others. Because I thought it would be necessary for me to have them. Now, HomeServe doesn't offer appliance coverage in certain areas. So that was a thumbs down for me and that was one of the reasons why I had recently canceled my hot water heater and my interior electrical.
I only submitted two claims so far. The first claim was fine. In the second one that I submitted, the only thing I didn't like was the limit of supplies that the technician had on his truck to give me the service that I really wanted. He was exchanging a certain type of plate. He couldn't really upgrade to a different one because he didn't have that particular one in his supplies on his truck. But the quality of the work of the contractors was okay.

No issues with how the immediate issue of unclogging the sewage outlet is taken care of each time. The service people have been great. HomeServe is however refuses to take care of the problem. That of the roots infesting the sewage pipe. Forcing my family to live through and clean up another raw sewage back up inside my home. It will happen again at some point, 3 months, 6 months? We won’t know until we hear it or more likely smell it. Can’t start the washing machine or dishwasher before leaving because you never know what you might come home to.
Over the years HomeServe has provided no peace of mind. We have had at least 4 service calls, each time we are told that the pipe needs further attention that it is packed full of roots. Unfortunately the nameless unaccountable folks at HomeServe knowingly choose not to resolve this recurring issue. Choosing instead to make us endure raw sewage backing up again and again. At this point I am extremely unsatisfied and would not recommend HomeServe to anyone.

I started with HomeServe many years ago. I dropped a couple of their electrical stuff because some of that seemed as though it wasn't working for me. But I kept the previous one for the outdoors and the inside. But when I needed it, it was not working for me. We had an issue with a sewage line on a neighbor. All County Mechanical Plumbing said they’d do the line, but when the guy came out, he said, "Not that." I called them and they said, “We only do the line.” I have three things - the plumbing on the inside out, exterior and interior. I have the sewage septic line plus. They didn’t tell me what the plus was, but they said they don’t do the sewage. So, I wonder why sewage is on there.
They also said I haven't been pumped so I need to be pumped out. I had it pumped out and I paid for it myself. Then I asked them again, “Would you just check this and fix it, and I will have to pay you?” But I haven’t really heard from them again. They need to tell HomeServe what needs to be fixed, so HomeServe can see whether I’m covered or not. Because if it’s not covered and I need to get this done, I will still let them do it.

We had HomeServe for one home and we had really good service. We like the way they're doing and giving better service. Their service request process is pretty easy. If there are any issues, we just call them and their customer support people are very good. They understand the issues and then they assign the people very promptly. So it's very good. Sometimes some contractors are painful, but sometimes some contractors are very upfront and they tell everything. Most of the contractors do the work and then complete the work fine. But HomeServe gives a second opinion and tries to accommodate the issue to make sure it is getting solved. So they do help.

It's very easy to get somebody out with HomeService. In general, their services are very good. But I just finished an attempt to repair a refrigerator that HomeServe said they couldn't support anymore after two visits from a refrigerator repairman who said that the small part on my refrigerator that was having a problem was not serviceable. So I'm having to go out on my own with the Samsung refrigerator recommended technician and pay the $320 service by myself.
We've had about four uses of HomeServe that went very happy. But the claim for the air conditioner surprised me. There was an overflow tray was filling up the water and the switch shut off the unit because the pump to get the water out had failed. HomeServe told me that that pump was not covered by the warranty. I understood that the evaporator coil on that unit was not covered because it's a very expensive, $1,000 part. But I was surprised that a $300 pump for the drain pan would be excluded. So I paid for that one myself.

Fast forward to 2022: the unit was determined to be irreparable. Evidently, my understanding of the Dominion Energy AND HomeServe policy to replace the unit in the event repairs were no longer possible was wrong. I might just have a little copay. I really appreciate that. They’re really prompt with the people that they do use for HomeServe. I normally call in when I have a claim and then they ask me what's going on and see what it’s covered under. Then they get ahold of whoever their people in the area are that might cover that type of service. If it’s a Sunday or it's later in the day, sometimes they might not call till the next morning. But that’s understandable because maybe that service isn’t open at the time. They do call in a reasonable amount of time and then they get there. HomeServe's customer service is not very helpful. Most of the times, there is long wait. From reaching to them to scheduling for service, it takes a lot of lot of efforts. If there's other choice, I probably would not be using them. Unfortunately, I have to work with them. From the way they allow you to report an incident that requires a repair or maintenance, all the way up to their web user interface to access the warranty you want, it's below par.
This account is registered under my wife's name and phone number. When we made the call, we requested the customer support to have the service technician to contact the tenants, and we gave them the tenant’s number and the time. But a lot of times, I don't know if they did not do it. The technicians still end up calling us and we have to let the tenants know. This is pretty much wasteful of our time in making duplicate calls. Also, the contractors just show up without even calling either us or the tenants. No one is there to wait for them, so they just leave. We call back HomeServe and we are told a technician was there.
The quality of their contractor, a lot of times, is not that great. We had couple of services by the technician and they were not able to do the job. They told us that it was beyond the scope of the coverage. They asked us to call other plumbers and HomeServe said it was not going to be covered. We called this local technician, and due to the urgency they fixed it in no time. The charge was much less than this technician sent from HomeServe. The HomeServe technician said it would cost cost us a couple of thousand dollars. But the technician we found ourselves was able to finish it in one hour and charge us $200.

But for the most part, we have been satisfied. We've had O'Grady Plumbing. I requested them because they've always been very thorough and responsive. However, we had some difficulty with one of the contractors. The only reason I would give less than perfect to HomeServe is that a contractor was sent out a second time, even though I requested that they not be used. And the contractor intercepted the call. You should go through with them. The customer service is good.

We had a terrible leak. It came from the kitchen going down into the laundry room of the basement by the back door. It's an old house and it was knocking concrete often. We were up to about nine buckets. I was happy with the technician. It makes me want to become a plumber. As soon as I get my own house, HomeServe is going to get a call.

This has been a very frustrating situation for us as twice a plumber provided by Homeserve determined we did not have a leak and twice our utility has come out after and determined we did. I have a very wet yard and it tested positive for chlorine. My meter may be the problem as it hasn’t detected a slow leak. I did test this by putting on my faucet a little and the meter did not move. I called Homeserve and they said I couldn’t do anything because of the plumber’s determination. The plumber is supposed to return this week for a leak detection but I would really like it fixed as that why we signed up for the service. I will say Homeserve was quick to respond initially but I got stuck in the middle trying to get it fixed with no help. I have attached the write up from our utility and photos of my wet yard. As noted, the utility did test the yard for chlorine to determine the leak as well.

Don't waste your money on this company. I had a home warranty through this company for over a year. When my A/C went out last summer I called but they had no technicians in my area. I had to have my unit replaced and since it could not be repaired this company covered nothing. I paid them over 1k and got no return of anything. I could have had over 1k towards any repair had I just left the funds in my account. Instead, I paid HomeServe to do nothing and rip me off. Keep your money instead of paying this company for false advertising.

We have a gas wall unit, which I had never operated. It didn't seem like it was salvageable. I wanted someone to come by and tune it up to see if it's even working. The person from HomeServe I talked to was almost hostile. She kept on telling me to turn off my gas and contact my utility company. I said it's not connected and she said she would not dispatch anyone until she gets confirmation that I've shut off my gas. But the tech from Barber Heating & Air who was dispatched was great. I asked if I should have done what the rep told me and he said no. Then, he determined that the unit was not working and told me how I could replace it. Also, they told him that it was an emergency call but it was not. That part was a little confusing. HomeServe's service needs a little bit of improvement but it's good.

I’m a little on the fence with HomeServe. I had them come out not too long ago. I was waiting for a follow-up but they never followed back up with me, nor did their contractor that they sent out. My basement flooded once before I got them. I told them and they said for them to send someone out, it has to have a leak twice. My basement flooded again and a plumber came out. He rodded it and put a camera there. He saw some roots growing in the piping. But the issue was never resolved. Pushing the thing down was just a Band-Aid over the big problem. For them to let someone come out and rod it, that's just a $100 service call that I could do with someone else. That's not fixing the problem. The reason that a homeowner gets these warranty companies is when things like this happen, you don't need someone to just come out and rod something. You wanna get down to the source of the problem.
What I discussed with HomeServe was that I don't want a Band-Aid solution. I wanted the problem be fixed because the technician said it might happen again in six months. When he said that to me and when he had me sign off on the paperwork, I made sure that he wrote that in the report. I visually saw him write that in there that it can happen again. The rep seemed so concerned and very sympathetic with my call. However, it goes past those people once the order is put in and there's nothing they can do or follow up. I'm not upset about their timeliness. They came out in a very appropriate amount of time. I'm just a little upset about the follow-up or their ability to fix the problem.

I did & Customer Service immediately called other Companies & scheduled a service call for the next day (Eagle). The two technicians were very courteous, knowledgeable & kind to answer my questions. I used HomeServe’s service and I was satisfied with the outcome, but the company that was hired through them, even though they did the job, didn't like to submit information. They told me that HomeServe wouldn’t cover without checking. When I contacted HomeServe, they said they had to submit a service request, and they never did. They said it's not going to be approved. They told me that I would have to pay out of pocket without any information. Their customer service was nice but the providers they hire don’t really do what they’re supposed to do.

HomeServe has a very good response. They have a lot of people and when I call, they come out the same day to take care of my problem, which is the most important thing to me. I didn't have any heat in a couple of radiators so I called them. The fellow from Abco Mechanical came and he let the air out of the radiators. Then, he said there was a problem with my valve that controls the water going into the furnace. He gave me some mumbo jumbo about calling the people up next week. He didn't have any valves with him on the truck. But he didn't come back and replace the valve. The radiator is still working but the next time they come, I'll have them replace it.

When I called a 3rd time I requested a different contractor. Royal Plumbing came and fixed the issue right away. Royal plumbing was awesome, professional and very clean with the work they did. I appreciate all they did and will be requesting them for any further repairs. And please take a note on my account I DO NOT want Macatee back for any repairs. I gave 3 stars more for contractor not so much HomeServe. They've been a good company over all these years but I would consider replacing Macatee.

With HomeServe, I know that I can get a trusted plumber. The ones that have come here like RB Travis are very good. Their employees are really knowledgeable. I can ask them anything, and they'll explain to me what's going on. I call HomeServe's 800 number when I need service, and I speak to a representative. They'll take my information down and then they'll say they'll get back to me. Then another representative calls me back to let me know that they have somebody that can come and do the job. Overall, the service people are very polite and helpful. The latest time that RB came was for a backup in the bathtub. The tech was very efficient. He did everything that he had to do, explained to me what was going on and checked both bathrooms. I even got him to fix a faucet for me. So, that was good.

When we've needed to go ahead and call HomeServe, they're very responsive. It's very easy to go ahead and get someone to answer the phone. The initial robot that you speak to brings you to a representative quite quickly without any hassles. It's something that I'm glad that I got involved with, that I pay for every year. I'm very happy with it.
We had a claim for the main drain recently. It was a two-day affair because water would go down a little bit further into the pipe before they could do anything about it. But the company that has been called out each and every time is the same company, Lanzo and they were very responsive. The plumbers were very good, knowledgeable and explained everything.

For the last claim I did with HomeServe, I had to call five times for five different appointments because everybody was making the wrong appointments or making appointments with companies that couldn't come. I also had one that came a week after I cancelled because I needed them the week before. I got five different people and everybody did something wrong. I don't understand why nobody's talking to each other and it's like they couldn't do their jobs correctly. They should not give me false information because every time I called, I got a different answer, so it was a nightmare dealing with HomeServe, I don't even want to call them anymore and I want to cancel because it's been out of control. It was never really like that but it's been a bad situation for the last couple of weeks. Finally, HomeServe got a contractor out to come fix the issue which involved a backup on the sewer line and he fixed it within an hour.

A sewer was backing up into the basement. It does that at times as you got leaves and grass that get in there. On top of that, it's connected to the county sewer as well. It was very easy to submit the claim with HomeServe and they responded on the same day I did it. The issue was resolved the first time the plumber came out and they were well-aware of it because we always have that same issue.
When you're a homeowner, you need this type of coverage because if you have a breakage in your sewer line, it only goes to a certain point as far as always being your responsibility versus the county's responsibility. I have two sewer lines, one that goes out in the front and that is for the bathroom on the second floor. The other one goes out in the backyard and that is for the bathroom on the first floor which is very expensive to repair. We're talking between $4,000 to $5,000 and who has that kind of money? I also have all the coverage that HomeServe offers and I even got the warranty for my daughter for her house. She's very impressed and happy about it.

I have six policies with them. I've had them for a couple of years on my one rental property. It seems like I've had to call them more frequently as of late and my concern is that they're putting a band-aid on it. Instead of replacing the pipe that's going to constantly be cracked or broken, something they would have to dig up, they rather just come out 10 times and snake it.
I also had to have a service call because sewage was backing up underneath the house with the crawlspace. It was a horrible odor and it was bad. At the time, I had exterior line coverage. They came out, flipped off the top of the cleanout and looked in there, and said there was nothing wrong and left. So we called, someone else came out. They had to bring the camera to put down the drain. They said that it was a crack. I said, “You got to fix it.” But they said, “We're not going to pump out the sewage. You have to pay for that.”
I had to pay someone $700 to come and pump out all the raw sewage that had accumulated under the house. They dug up about a four foot piece and replaced it with six. Then two weeks later, the basement leaked again. Because farther out towards the street, there had been another breakage, over the years. So they had to come back out and dig it up again the second time. If they would have done it right the first time, it would have cost them a lot less money. Most recently, I've had some issues with their response. When I've called, they said the order wasn’t placed. That happened twice on my most recent service call. But they always send someone out. So HomeServe is definitely worth it to have.
