I like the layout and ease of use on HomeAdvisor.com. It was very straightforward and I ended up choosing the contractor they recommended and it was a great result! I like the options available, but I also like the recommendations... It seems to narrow it down and take out the headache of too many good choices. But, it's always good to have the comparison.

Three plumbers called within minutes of submitting the request. They were all courteous, professional, and ready to perform the repairs. They provided detailed estimates over the phone based on my description of the problem. This is NOT done by the major plumbing companies in Houston. In summary, they all called within minutes, were ready to do the work, and gave me cost estimates over the phone. I couldn't ask for more.

Had air-today contractors in on an emergency basis. A/c had stopped working. Gave very fast look and told me it needed freon. Charged me $200 to add it to system. Originally quoted me $275 but finally accepted $200. Diagnosis completely wrong, if he had taken a minimum amount of trying to find problem, he would have seen that the coils were completely blocked, causing problem. Other company came in and found problem right away, and fixed. I wouldn't have minded the fee (too high) if he found and fixed problem properly. Would never, ever, use air-today contractors again.

I like the level of service I received and the importance it is to have good customer service skills. That alone would make you go back and that is exactly what I received. Thank you!

My husband and I wanted to find someone to install security cameras in and outside of our home.

A T-joint had broken and a leak occurred to the hot water line in my crawl space. This company fixed it quickly.

It is exactly what it says it is and I love it.

I received 3 companies but only 1 was actually available. If there is a way to try to screen them based on availability it would help. Also, I think the others were more oriented towards tree care instead of lawn maintenance. I was happy the company that was available.

John was very professional. He did a very clean install and everything worked great. He takes pride in his work and is very focused on customer satisfaction. I would recommend him to others and will STS on my future projects.

Has a two family with a shower leak from the 2nd Fl. that went into the 1Fl. kitchen ceiling then and floor. The tenants couldn't shower for 4 days before I called HomeAdvisor; because my normal guy stood me up! Well they came at the appointed time sized up to repair and repaired the ill-fitted bushing and pipe. Their work was completed in an hour. I would definitely use them again!!!

I should have started with HomeAdvisor. Unfortunately, I went directly to another cleaning service and never heard back after I received my initial quote. Once I signed up with HomeAdvisor, I had two replies within minutes of my request. I set up my first appointment during my call and they promptly arrived on schedule.

Great advice on contractors! I filled out what I needed for Bath remodel and HomeAdvisor gave me three contractors to request quotes. I heard back directly from one and had the work completed that day, great quality and speedy response. I think that companies who utilize this site will have great success.

Some of the roofers never called back. Others wanted to give me an estimate online by looking at my roof from Google Earth photos. My experience with your roofers was not good. This tells me a lot. It's going to be rough getting a responsible roofer.

We had a water softener, plumbing loop, Ro installed as well as a water heater flush. All was included in the price. Our plumber was very knowledgeable and worked fast. Very personable and gave good tips about the softener.

You have provided a place to find awesome craft and tradesmen to help with the home projects I don't want to do. My only downside is since I signed up to use this service, I am inundated with emails for various services. Literally 20-30 a day. Please make it stop so this can be the perfect homes help site out there.

I have used HomeAdvisor for years. I have had very positive experiences most of the contractors I have chosen from this service. When I am researching a project, HomeAdvisor is one of the first sites I go to find contractors.

This was my first experience with the service. It was easy to use the website and I quickly got a referral to someone who does the kind of work needed and works in my area. It was easy to make an appointment and I was very satisfied with the resulting service.

With the exception of one company that was referred to me my experience with HomeAdvisor has been very good. I also realize that sometimes it's not the company but its workers with that company that gives the referred company a bad rap. HomeAdvisor should not continue to associate with company's or handymen who show no professional attitude. To use bad-skilled workers will only lower the good status HomeAdvisor has attained thus far. Thank you.

I needed a plumber who was reasonably priced to replace the galvanized pipes I had in an older home with copper pipes to repair ceiling leaks. In addition I had a slow draining sink. I filled out a request for an estimate on the web page for Home Advisor and received a call almost immediately from a local plumber. He came out the next day and gave an estimate and performed the work a few days later. He was prompt and reasonably priced. I am very satisfied with the service.

I was lied to about the amount of leads they received by a salesman in New York Boiler Room. I called the company the very next day and was told I would receive a full refund. I have since spoken with several people who work there and each time they apologize and try to find out why I haven't received my refund. I have been told that the manager of the sales office in New York is the only one who can refund my money and I never get to speak to him. This is a sad excuse for a company who advertising by calling them you will be put in touch with good licensed contractors. So I had to take time from my day to make sure everyone is warned, if you do business with HomeAdvisor you will get lied to and burned as it happened to me. It has now been over 20 days, no refund yet.

Top rate business! Called me on Saturday evening soon after I requested safe sellers & installers through HomeAdvisor. Monday afternoon work was completed perfectly and left no mess!

Went with HomeAdvisor with a mason and a tile person. Both were great.

We put in a query and got a call within 15 minutes. The contractor came out the next day (Sunday). Work was finished mid week. Very good experience.

I interviewed two local suppliers and it was obvious that the one selected was the only one I felt was competent for doing the job. I have used HomeAdvisor for several jobs in the past with no complaints. However the last time I used HomeAdvisor was for a drought conversion. The only company that was able to do the job was Cega-Land landscaping. After hiring Cega-Land I started having reservations. The job was contracted for two weeks, five weeks later they were still not finished. I look into the business's license, contractor's licenses only to find out the company had no WORKERS COMPENSATION! The company is listed of having no employees. After further investigation I learned they had not pulled the required permits from the city. I assumed HomeAdvisor would check something as simple as a contractor's license number. HomeAdvisor advertises a complete background check of the contractors they refer. I will not be using HomeAdvisor in the future.

HomeAdvisor recommended a couple of good companies to contact for garage door repair service and I ended up using one of the recommendations.

Hot tub spring leaks. Motors needed to be repair. Tub cleaned refilled. All done in good time.

I looked for someone to give me an estimate online. HomeAdvisor came up and I gave the site my information. Within just a few minutes I had a call from one of their members. That was a Saturday. He said he'd come on Wed to do an estimate. He did, right on time. Gave me an estimate on the spot. Said he could start the next week and he did. Job has gone very well so far. Weather has slowed things down a bit but they work when they come and are doing a great job.

Professional Concrete Works in Theodore, AL is rated 5 stars. I would give them half a star, at best. I waited 3 days for them to begin, always late, never called, unacceptable workmanship and customer service is a 0 rating. After work was done, they would not accept my phone calls; voicemail box stayed full. I could not recommend this company for anything! HomeAdvisor needs to change rating for certain.

HomeAdvisor helped me find a good architect but did not show me multiple options to compare and choose from. I ended up choosing the one they recommended, but it would have been ideal to choose from a group.

I have used this service before. The end result is good. i.e. I find a person to do a job. But they will not let you ask for a contractor unless you give your phone number. I do not give out my phone number to a website for anyone to see/use. If the bogus number I enter is not repeated accurately I am told I have to chat with a person. I don't have the time to waste on this. If someone has my email address, that is enough. I do not want people I don't know calling me at home or on my cell. Once contact is made I will give that person my number. This company has changed the way they allows you to get contractors. It is a bad change. How about you guys give me your home phone numbers online? I also noted that the reviews are all positive. Interesting.

I love HomeAdvisor, but it's better to submit online so that EVERY word of your issue is recorded. The phone reps often don't convey IMPORTANT details. You'll end up repeating everything to the provider. Submitting online puts everything in writing.

HomeAdvisor claims that their review process is unbiased, however I tried to file a very detailed bad review on a company listed on their site, but it keeps being declined. HomeAdvisor will not explain why they will not post my review, and will not contact me to work with me to get it posted, as they claim they will on their site. This leads me to believe that they are not looking out for the customers. They must be receiving fees from the businesses listed on their site, why else isn't my review being posted?

I was searching the web for stump grinders and HomeAdvisor recommended a company that was not available so they put me in touch with Sivert Enterprises. Alexander came out that day to take a look at the situation, gave me an estimate the following day and a day or two later our stump was en route to becoming history. Decided to use HomeAdvisor to search for someone to come out and do a major yard clean-up and to clear/prune some bushes and trees. After filling out the "what are you looking for" forms, I was contacted by a local contractor within moments. He came out the next day and I showed him what needed to be done, agreed on a price, and he had a crew working on it within an hour. Project was done that day. Very happy that I decided to go the HomeAdvisor route.

I always go to HomeAdvisor since I don't need to pay like the other one, Angie's List which is not free. Sometimes I get people that call me the same day, sometimes I don't. I like the handyman feature and how you list them - since I can save tons of money with a handyman. Keep listing handymen on your site since we need one more than any other kind of professional.

The capacitor for outside AC compressor has been replaced with a new one.

Install central heat and ac including duct work - Excellent with absolutely no issues.

My first use of HomeAdvisor but I will use them again. I needed to arrange the work in VA from my home in KY before traveling to VA. Each of the 3 top recommended companies contacted me as requested. 2 of the three were able to view the work and give an estimate within the short timeframe that I was in VA. The 3rd would have been able to meet the next day. All 3 were very professional. The work has been completed and I am very satisfied.

I'm the owner, hired the roofer, removed 2 layers and replaced 3 sheets of plywood then installed asphalt shingles in 5.5 hrs. Air temp was 95 F. Roofers knew what they were doing and did it professionally.

I was very happy to have gone through HomeAdvisor searching for a reliable contractor to do my total kitchen open concept renovation. They gave me several in my near region. The only thing I have to say about that was that only one contracting company responded; but I lucked up and it was probably for the best as I am very happy with Mar Construction LLC. I didn't start out with HomeAdvisor and wish I had because the contractor (not a HomeAdvisor recommendation) took me for a ride and start the work, got paid most of the money and never showed back up; that what made me use HomeAdvisor and I am glad I did. Will come back and show image once project is completed.

I've needed several projects done on my new house (it was a fixer-upper) and I accidentally came across HomeAdvisor through searching the internet. So far, every contractor I've considered was professional in their conduct, and everyone I've hired has done the work at a high quality level. The reviews are fair and often comprehensive and help streamline what is often a harrowing process of hiring a contractor (often while ignorant of the craft for which they're being hired).

HomeAdvisor is my primary source to find businesses to do the various projects within my home. I have been very satisfied with the results from the companies that I have found on HomeAdvisor.

I was looking forward to using a qualified contractor through HomeAdvisor. I have used several in the past with good success. When I received an estimate invoice, there was a range of labor charge and a range of material charge, both understandable and acceptable. My concern was a $40 Service Charge. When I asked what the charge was for, I was told it was for sending the contractor out. My opinion is that this is Double Dipping on fees. Very disappointed, and I still need the work completed as I cancelled the appointment. I guess in a way, my loss.

When I have a project now I just go to HomeAdvisor and I'm sure I'll get the best people for my project. I don't have to check people out anymore. They do it for me.

These people were the worst I have ever dealt with. I got 7 calls in one day and I have never asked them for their service! Even after I was polite and asked the first 3 callers to please remove my number from their call list, I received 4 more calls. They were not even looking for me. Impossible to block the calls because they use a spam dialer so it is never the same number twice. The calls come up from every state in the nation. I will tell every one I know about this incident and not to use HomeAdvisor for anything.

I used HomeAdvisor to find a home internet wiring expert. I was able to find several, check reviews and backgrounds and finally book an appointment online. I was able to check to response rate of the provider to HomeAdvisor online bookings. This is a key metric and was important in making my decision. The metric measures what percentage of the time a provider responds to an online HomeAdvisor booking. I had narrowed my choices to 3 providers. All with similar ratings. The two with the highest ratings had response rates of 70%. The third one slightly lower in ratings had a 100% response rate. I went with the 3rd. This metric alone and the ability to book providers online is a key reason why I'll use HomeAdvisor again.

HomeAdvisor directed me to a contractor who was local and could do the job quickly and for a reasonable price. I am happy with the recommendation I received.

They found me a great contractor that I know I would not have found on my own and I hired him to do the work. So pleased with his work. I will use HomeAdvisor from now on to help me find contractors for home projects in the future.

3 months ago, I moved from the Bay Area in California. My previous experiences with HA were neutral. Now I live in the mountain town of Weaverville, CA. It is a small town - population approx. 4,000; it is 40 miles west of Redding - a much larger city. I have found it very difficult finding home improvement services in Weaverville. When I searched online for local services, several services claiming to serve Weaverville - housecleaning, carpet cleaning, bathroom remodel - were listed in my browser.

Impressed with the demolition company we used. Quick and great service. We would use this company again.

It is very quick, efficient and easy to contact HomeAdvisor and find possible sources to complete home projects. We have used the service twice and were very satisfied each time. We have recommended HomeAdvisor to our friends.

I contacted HOME ADVISOR for help with several jobs and followed up with two of their suggestions. One of the businesses did a good job while there were many problems (including unprofessionalism) with the second. Afterwards, I wrote two reviews on HOME ADVISOR to alert other consumers to potential problems. The positive review was posted immediately while the more critical (but not insulting) review is still "pending" 4 months after being posted. I emailed HOME ADVISOR about this but received no answer. Their contact phone number does not permit any inquiries. I am very disappointed with the biased practices employed by this referral service company which is supposed to protect consumers. Instead, HOME ADVISOR appears to be deliberately shielding less than satisfactory business providers at the expense of consumers. It's likely that only the positive reviews are posted - so buyer beware.

Twice I have used HomeAdvisor to find handymen. The first experience involved drywall repair and painting (some areas involved very high vaulted ceilings), the second - installing two exterior doors, one with sidelights, and repairing several items carpentry-related, and moving a light switch. Both experiences connected us with handymen who were professional, responsive, reasonable in pricing, quality work in short amount of time. I would rehire and recommend both handymen's companies. From these two successful experiences, I would continue to recommend HomeAdvisor. I did seek out professionals they suggested who had high ratings and strong reviews.

Got 3 very professional contractors from HA. Very happy with their choices and was able to pick the best one for the work desired.

Roof inspection. We contacted three inspection companies, but only one called. We hired the company and the results were very favorable.

Roofing contractor was found through Home Advisor. The description for Fontaine Roofing was accurate. They are a family business of very hard-working people. I would recommend them to my family, friends, and neighbors.

A 40 year old electrical panel that had been subjected to some water damage in the past was giving us a number of electrical problems. After an in-depth inspection of the old panel, many ground wires were loose and corroded, a number of circuit breakers were faulty, not to mention some were incorrectly wired together. The new panel looks and has worked perfectly, we haven't had any of those annoying electrical problems.

I could never successfully get someone from HomeAdvisor take on my ceiling project. Either too expensive or no follow through on submitting an estimate. Also with regard to locating a handyman, one person came out but never submitted an estimate as promised. The other never responded. Professional Floors and Contractors was the only business that was contacted and followed through from beginning to end with pleasing results.

I experienced no problems with HomeAdvisor.
