Great pro recommendations - AT HOME Carpet and Flooring is a great company - price and quality is outstanding. Will hire them to refinish our hardwood floors in May. Also hired Meadowlands Decorating Center, recommended by HomeAdvisor, to do our living room reupholstering. Only HomeAdvisor recommendation that need not pan out was Bullseye Electrical Contracting - did not make the agreed appointment.

I contacted HomeAdvisor and they gave me several prices. I chose one repair company and they were true to their pricing on everything. I will choose HomeAdvisor for my next project which will be sheetrock to repair my basement ceilings after my plumbing repairs are complete.

Professional Garage Services was the first and only Pro I called. I made my decision to call them based on other reviews and after making contact with the Pro I felt confident going forward and didn't feel the need to contact the other Pros that were offered. HomeAdvisor directed me to a excellent company, (Advanta Clean), and they did a excellent job. I highly recommend Advanta Clean for this service. A two man team did this work of cleaning our clothes dryer vent. They explained in detail, including showing us the equipment, what they would be doing to make sure that we were satisfied with the work that they would do. Excellent company and a great job done.

They promise better leads than their competitors and charge more than triple what you would pay for leads elsewhere. But the leads I received were of less quality than I had received from a previous competitor and I was charged for every lead they sent whether I wanted to respond to them or not. Like lighting a match to perfectly good money. After trying it out for a week and over $450.00 later I asked to cancel and of course they refuse to refund the annual fee. They suck you in, promise the moon, give you crappy leads and then when you want out, refuse to give you any refund.

Even though I called and canceled before the charge went through, they told me that I was supposed to renew 4 days prior so I couldn't cancel and they would charge my card like it or not. I found this garage door company with a google search, and when I clicked through I wasn't clear that the listing was under HomeAdvisor. I called the listed number and the operator identified herself as HomeAdvisor. Ok so far. What I had forgotten was that I had an existing profile with HomeAdvisor, and she didn't remind me of that.

The thermal couple had failed. He had a replacement unit ($12) and fixed the violet light problem, and the hot water tank was working again. He put the hot water tank all back together that I had removed. Hot water tank started up quickly the first time. One rep says one thing another rep says another--no one seems to know the correct answer. I was put a charge on my account for MyHelpDesk, when I explicitly was told this was an optional service and I conveyed I did NOT want it. The sales rep told me leads were one rate only to find out after I had signed up that this was NOT the case. Getting your review rating process accomplished - poor - I kept being told different guidelines on how to get it accomplished - still waiting for a 3rd review after 2 mos to be added, didn't happen.

The process to schedule a day and time with a contractor through HomeAdvisor really doesn't work, big disconnect from their systems. Needs work! Best way is to schedule directly with the contractors yourself. I tried the process through HomeAdvisor with several different companies and not one worked. The contractor claims they never received it or they already had booked another appointment. Systems not in sync and needs to have better real time access to the contractors' calendars.

This site advertises for service providers like plumbers, mechanics, etc. And allows people to give companies reviews whether bad or good. But lately I've notice bad reviews disappearing. And the last site that did something like that was the BBB. They were allowing companies to pay for a good rating. Which got them into trouble with the Attorney General. And this is what I believe this HomeAdvisor is doing. I wrote a bad review on a company that was total crooks. And I wrote the review very professional. No cussing or slandering. Just the facts. And HomeAdvisor denied the review. They are suppose to help people find the right service company and protect you from the criminals. I tried to exposed a crook and save people from getting ripped off by this guy. And they blocked my review allowing this con-artist to continue on their site.

In the middle of a roofing job a short-fused requirement surfaced to detach our screened in pool enclosure so that deteriorated fascia boards could be replaced. Cooke Construction sent an inspector within a couple of hours of my call and scheduled the job first thing the next day. Very high quality work, very reasonably priced.

I have used HomeAdvisor for three projects and each one was a very good experience. Two were for cleaning jobs, one in Ashburn and one in Rockville. The tree services were for a residence in Rockville and they did a good job. Good job HomeAdvisor!!

I could not reach the hatch in the ceiling to clean my filter. I looked for someone who could work on it over the weekend and HomeAdvisor recommended Awesome Heating & Air Conditioning. Todd called soon after and made an appointment for Saturday at 8 a.m. He checked the heat pump and cleaned the filter and checked the thermostat. That was not working correctly. He had a new one in his truck that would work with my heat pump system. It was a well-known brand, Honeywell. He installed it, programmed it to my preferences, and showed me how to use it. He answered my questions and explained about heat pumps and environmental regulations that changed the type of coolant that can be used.

We needed a window replaced and I went to HomeAdvisor to find a recommended one in our area. The Glass Doctor gave us an estimate which was better than another glass company. The Glass Doctor technician was very professional and HomeAdvisor was correct.

HomeAdvisor lies to you about when and what they charge you. Specifically an employee named Elgin based in Ohio. HomeAdvisor got us a ton more phone calls everyday. Unfortunately they're all phone calls from companies trying to sell products or service, not business leads. Elgin promise me very specific leads within the granite countertop industry. I was getting charged for leads on laminate countertops. Not even close. I always have to call HomeAdvisor and find out what they're charging me for. Also, the few leads for granite we got the customers never seem to answer their phone or call back. I'm not even sure if they're real consumers. It's a giant waste of time not to mention 347 dollars.

Company used (Gutters by Boss) was neat, clean, efficient, and friendly. I never saw the owner and all transactions were done via email. The billing and payment was online. Easy. It has not rained yet but I was assured by the owner all problems would be taken care of if any. I was disturbed there was no contract with details to sign. I like to see things in writing and accountable. But all emails were positive on any problems to be taken care of.

They were on time and completed the repairs quickly and efficiently. I was very pleased with their work and would hire them again. They had to return and did so in a day or two and completed the repair. You could see they had a good amount of knowledge and knew what they were doing.

HomeAdvisor has taken the doubt out of the process for us and we could not put a price on the peace of mind that comes from knowing the contractors we hire have all been vetted before we allow them into our home.

Get several bids, talk to them, see who you like. Ask your questions or ask him to tell you what he knows, who does the work, how long will it take, is it guaranteed, how long have you done this type of work. Ask what are the pros and cons. I like honest realistic opinions not to just rush into this and then be disappointed. Call the expensive guys as well as the cheaper people.

I used HomeAdvisor to find a landscape company to do some work in my yard. They recommended Nida Outdoors. I gave them a deposit last July but they have not done the job and want give back the deposit. I put a negative review on Nida page but HomeAdvisor took it off and has not helped me in getting the work finished or my deposit returned. HomeAdvisor doesn't stand behind the homeowner that uses their service, only their pros who pays them. My advice, don't use HomeAdvisor. You're not guaranteed anything.

When on a Sunday, my water heater was leaking. I called a phone number in the yellow pages, got HomeAdvisor, and quickly had three phone calls of businesses who offered to help me. Good and timely manner. Excellent job! The labor price could be better. Warranty of the labor could be longer than 2 years, for example, like five years. It was good the contractor installed a water tray and a pipe which can lead the water flow to outside of the wall to prevent the water damage to the house wall and carpet next time.
