I was previously with a different provider but I wasn’t happy with a few of the vendors who would come out. I didn’t like how long the process of filing a claim was taking. I needed a new plan and so I went with Home Warranty of America. Signing up was easy and the time to get the claim open was fairly fast. The contractor called me back and he was gonna book his appointment the day they print it out and get me on schedule. He took care of the issue pretty fast and only spent a week at the most. My experience, so far, has been good. I’ve been able to get everything I need from the service and I’m happy with it.

Misleading information. As a first time homeowner our realtor was nice enough to purchase a home warranty for us. We have had to call them on 2 separate occasions, the first for a plumbing issue that was resolved and a very easy process (so far so good, we even decided to renew once we hit 1 year). The second time we called it has been a nightmare. To boil it down: we have an older heat pump and air handler. The heat pump was diagnosed with a leak and some other part was failing. After working with 2 different contractors (because HWA the first contractor did not feel that it was worth his time to finish since he was only getting 3 hours to do the job), we got a call that our system was to be replaced.

Because our heat pump and air handler were older, if you replace the heat pump, IT IS REQUIRED BY LAW that the air handler be replaced because the refrigerant is not compatible. HWA states that they will not pay a dime for the new handler that is required for my new heat pump to operate. Not a single person I have spoken with has shown an ounce of compassion, not willing to work with me on a solution. I have read reviews on here where "customer service is your top priority" it does not feel so in this case. In fact I was called originally and quoted $1700 for the job and only once I asked for a supervisor to go over those charges with me did they call back and say it would now be $3700. I feel like I was punished for asking questions.

Home Warranty of America has been good and their sales reps were courteous. I've set up a claim with them twice and the people that came out were great. However, they don't consider some situations to be an emergency even though I would figure it is indeed an emergency. It was in the middle of winter and our furnace went out, so I called them at 6:00 in the evening but we can't get anybody out until 1:00 or 2:00 the next day.

When I first bought my house I had a contract with another company, and it went out of business. I was talking to my real estate agent and they told me to get Home Warranty of America. So I purchased warranty for my home and rental house. I recently submitted a claim when my microwave encountered a problem. I called up the company and a day later the guy came out and looked at it. They took off the microwave, changed the magnetron and put it back in. The microwave worked and it hasn’t had any trouble since. The service guys were friendly but one of them had an issue of having to clean up.

We also had an issue with an expensive faucet in the house, which they said had to be replaced. But they gave me money for a cheaper faucet. They didn’t give me the money for replacing the exact faucet that was there. So I had to cover the difference. But overall, Home Warranty of America honors the contract and I had a very good experience with them.

Signing up with Home Warranty of America was great. The sales rep quoted me a price, told me how it worked and what my options are. But I didn't buy that day 'cause I wanted time to think about it and she was very compliant. I called back a few days later and picked right back up with her. HWA has done a very good job. Submitting a claim with them is easy and takes all about 5 minutes. The problem I had is that they don't tell me what's not going to be covered.

For example, they're going to come out and replace my water heater. Even though my hot water heater's covered, there's $1,500 worth of extra stuff that's not covered to bring it up to code, and that's the kind of stuff that should be outlined in some fashion. Then the plumber tried to gouge me because they knew I got to pay them but on my end, I didn't want to pay it and I took care of that another way. The general layman probably wouldn’t know that they’re being gouged and I don’t like that. They don’t do it to me but I can see they do it to other people, taking advantage of them.

I'm very pleased with HWA overall but I've learned to be very cautious when I call a claim in. If they were to offer $10 extra a month to cover items that are not up to code, I would've paid it. Other than that, they've been very good at fixing my stuff and their customer service is impeccable. One time, we've had a couple problems with the contractor which they took care of immediately. That’s why I renewed with them and I’ll renew with them again if service continues to be the same.

Bought this warranty with the purchase of my house about a year ago. First claim I made was for a disposal which stopped working. Deductible was $60 so I canceled and replaced it myself since I didn't want to wait over a week for the repair. A new disposal doesn't cost much more than $60 so it wasn't worth me waiting. My second claim was the over the range microwave. The microwave is a recirculating venting microwave and they give me the option of the cheapest external venting microwave that GE makes. I call them and their customer service agent said they have researched it and this microwave is the most comparable.

Seems like they aren't comparable if I can't even turn the vent on since I don't have a external vent. They are "researching" my claim again. Seems like this company is more worried about saving money than actually getting what the customer needs and deserves. And if you're a warranty company and you can't even get the right item to the customer, what use are you. Definitely will not be renewing, and anyone that asks I will say "this is not worth it". This claim was for a microwave. Think about a claim for a more expensive item like heating and air. I can only imagine. Terrible business.

I submitted the claim at 6am and got a contractor assign via email who never called me or told the company he was not going to take the job. I had to call the contractor to find out. Then I told HWA who had no idea... HWA reassigned another contractor who just kept lying about never receiving the email from HWA so I called HWA to resent to the contractor they said did. Still nothing from the contractor. My husband and I called numerous times no answer. I called HWA and requested a new contractor be assign as my son is 8 month and my house is freezing. They said they will assign to another department to further investigate and will follow up in 48 hours. Seriously!?! It's 25-30 degrees out and you want me and my 8 month old baby to wait 48 hours so you can investigate. I am beyond pissed. This company is stupid and horrible.

My son is not getting sick because of them. So I just call someone on my own. We need to get this fixed ASAP. Do have time for nonsense my child life is on the line. I can't have my son be illed from this. I couldn't live with myself. These jerks from this company are horrible people!! I wanted to give zero stars but there no option!!! When I closed, Home Warranty of America was the insurance that the sellers had picked for me. I renewed it and it renewed at a very high rate. I’m paying almost $62 a month for that coming out of my checking account. Then they told me that the deductible has also increased. It was $50 and now it’s $75. It was a horrible experience because the reps kept hanging up on me and they were very rude. I had someone come out and look at my garage last year when it was still under the original purchase agreement and I had to have a warranty since then. They were friendly whenever they came out, but I’m probably gonna be looking for someone new with an office when it’s time to renew it because it's too expensive.

My package, which came with the purchase of the condo, had Home Warranty of America in there and it explained everything what they covered and how it was done. All I had to do was read it. When you submit a claim, you have to pay $60 then they send someone out. Sometimes they can get someone right away but sometimes a day or so. They repair whatever needs to be repaired. When I had water running from my washer to the floor because of a busted water pipe, they had to dig behind the washer to fix that. They get the work done. However, if I don’t use it for some reason, I'm just paying that money because I pay a monthly fee.

The seller of the condo had Home Warranty of America for me for the first year and because the a/c and the furnace were very old, I decided to stay with them. So in case one of those went out, I would have that covered. The overall experience with them is between fair and good, not excellent. We always had to use their technicians and I got feedback that HWA is slow in paying their technicians and that's why a lot of contractors do not want to work with them. Other than that, it’s been real good with them lately and they serviced quickly.

But in 2014, I went through the month of July without an air-conditioner because they had to do so much fussing around with the communication between getting a technician here and communicating with them and that contractor not being able to get through to get it done. I was always put on hold and I had work to do so that was a big issue. It didn’t seem it mattered that I was in a 90-degree-condo in heat and everything without air. It was horrible. But I ended up getting a new a/c unit after almost a month. So, it turned out okay.

The technicians that Home Warranty of America sent out to work on my water heater, air conditioning fan and thermostat were very good. The HWA reps listened to my concerns and put me with the company that I felt was the one I wanted. I get the name of the company from HWA, then I go on Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List and check. If I don’t like what I read, I tell HWA that I do not want those people, and they've been flexible with me in providing somebody that has good ratings.

But the water heater became an issue at one point because they wanted to try to fix this and that, and it never worked. And finally the technician said that I need a new water heater and HWA replaced it. I was pleased about that, and haven't had a problem with it from then on. However, it was 17 days when I first moved in that I had no hot water at all. So I didn’t like that one bit. The way I look at it is probably HWA choose their contractors based on the monetary deal that is struck between the two of them, but that shouldn't be what I have to deal with when I need to have a repair with a service that I've already paid for.

My realtor purchased the policy from Home Warranty of America when we bought our house. It is awful compared to the one we had before. We don't have any control over what companies that they choose or what times that they choose. The last time I had a service call I called and they said they'd be here between 9:00 and 5:00 PM. So I took off, but the guy never showed up. We rescheduled, took off, the guy never showed up. My husband rescheduled, he took off, the guy never showed up. So three days of work and then on top of that it's $100 service charge every time they had to come out. We're very, very unhappy.

I renew this year only because it's almost impossible for me to find another home warranty company if I'm not purchasing a new home. My husband breaks everything so I need a home warranty. Home Warranty of America would definitely not be one that I would recommend to other clients when I work in the field. You call Home Warranty of America, then they call somebody. Here we are waiting on the guy from Sears from New Orleans to come fix our washing machine. I don't know what they drive but the story was that his car caught on fire twice. I'm thinking he's probably overbooked and trying to do what he needs to do. But in the same sense, I've taken off three days of work for it.

In the renewal process, we called them and told them we wanted to renew. They sent us a new policy with different dates on it and continued pulling the money from our account every month.

The claims process is very easy and I'd look up the number off my policy, call into the helpdesk, and tell them what the problem is. They take down information and within a day or so somebody we needed who's a specialist in that field calls me back. The HWA people we've worked with were helpful and a couple of times, they're informative and always put us in touch with the right people. We've already called three times and the first time the contractor who called me back told me how to fix the problem myself, which actually saved us a bunch of money. The next time they ended up replacing the water heater and then they came out once and replaced the condenser on my air conditioning unit. So far we've not had any problem since the repairs. Home Warranty of America should keep up the good work. Everybody is professional, courteous, and easy to work with. Our overall experience is excellent.

I call and tell them what the problem is, and they record it and set up a local vendor to come out and check on the problem, and then the problem gets repaired. The only issue that I had was with a hot tub repair when they didn't have anyone that had the ability to do a service call for that problem. So, I went out myself to find someone to do the repair and they ended up covering the cost. For the most part, however, it's been problem-free with Home Warranty.

    Reviewed Jan. 27, 2017

We've been with HWA for almost three years now. They were recommended to us by a friend when we purchased our first home. We've happily paid our monthly payment for over 34 months, with no issues. On September 27, 2016, we filed our first claim when our hot tub went out. It took HWA two weeks to tell me that they were unable to find a preferred vendor in our area, and it was up to me to find one. I found our service provider in 5 minutes on Google. It then proceeded to take at least another month to approve the service diagnosis. I did not have a good feeling about just getting a verbal confirmation that the service would be fully reimbursed, so I called back to ask if I could have something in writing. I was assured that everything was in their system and there would be no issue. It was further explained to me that reimbursement could take 6-8 weeks, but typically it was much faster - even 2-3 weeks.

The service was scheduled and completed in early December, and the final invoice was emailed to two separate HWA addresses on December 12 and 15th. No response was received to acknowledge submission. Finally, in mid-January, I decided to call to check on the status of reimbursement. I called three separate times from the middle of January through today (1/27) - each time the CSR said they would look into the issue, contact the reimbursement department, etc. and get back to me (I was never contacted back).

Now just this evening, I received a call from HWA stating that they didn't think they could reimburse the service (something about splitting hairs as to what the actual replacement parts purpose is). We would never have proceeded with the service if HWA hadn't approved it completely first. Now HWA is contacting the vendor again to get a better explanation as to what service was actually performed, and what the function of the replacement part was meant to be.

It's very obvious that they need our reimbursement more than we do at this point. This has been an absolute nightmare. I would only hope they would perform better if the issue at hand were something more serious (heater, A/C, septic, electrical, etc.). I feel that we've slipped through the cracks, and now we're just getting punted around while HWA is frantically trying to cover their tracks. If you're in the market for a home warranty service provider, I would desperately urge you to look elsewhere.

Our daughter convinced us that getting a home warranty was a good thing to do. We've had several claims since we've been in the house. When our ice maker and washing machine went out at the same time, we called Home Warranty of America and the same people came and did both of them. Everything went great. They changed the pump on the washing machine, but didn't really fix the whole machine because it went out again within a month's time, and they had to replace the whole thing.

Then the water from the refrigerator went up on the walls, and they changed the ice maker and water valve. However, it never made ice and they came back three times. The people Home Warranty of America sent called the plumber and said there was no water pressure, but the plumbers that came said the water pressure was great. We asked them to get somebody else to fix it because we didn't think the guys knew how to do their job, and the other people they got who were local, did a great job. They came out and fixed it the first day and never had a bit of a problem after that. As far as the other stuff, we had a back up on our air conditioner, had water all throughout the house, and they responded real quickly. They came and dried the house. The next day, they put all the floorboards up, the carpet, and the wood stuff. They did a great job and I was real satisfied.

Then when I talked to Home Warranty of America, I liked how the lady greeted me. Then when I signed up for the service, the rep asked me what I was looking for, explained to me what package would be best for me, gave me the whole details and how much would it be. It was an easy process. My interactions with the sales reps have been smooth and they weren't giving me the runaround like other companies. But when I call in for a claim I got to wait on hold for a long time. One time I held on for almost a half hour. Besides that, everybody I’ve been talking to there have been very helpful.

I bought a house in 2015 and Home Warranty of America was the home warranty that I've been set up with as part of the agreement in the purchase of the house. I was already familiar with them, had to use them once when my air conditioning went out, and it was a really seamless process. The amount they were asking for wasn't ridiculous so I didn’t see any need to make any changes, hence, I renewed with them. I wasn't exactly sure how to go about doing the renewal because I'm a first-time homeowner so I ended up calling whenever I received something in the mail indicating that my home warranty was going to be running out. I called to make sure that I was doing everything the way I needed to and to see what my options were exactly and the rep was pretty nice in telling me all of the options.

When I submitted a claim, I called and gave some information on what the problem was. HWA said that they would call me back to give me the name or the information of who was going to come out and fix my air conditioner and then told me that it was going to be $100 upfront fee. It was a same day call and the very nice repair guy ended up coming out really quick. I haven't had any issues with my air conditioner since. Overall, it was a good experience and HWA is very pleasant and seemed to be quite prompt in getting me what I needed.

After paying a $75 deductible on top of that they will not look for a leak until you I have recharged it twice so you're letting money just leak into the year twice before you find the problem. The customer service rep barely spoke English. Got aggravated with me when I was canceling my policy and calling them out on their lack of coverage and hung up on me. When we were looking at several options for home warranties, we evaluated a few warranties. But since HWA was recommended to us, we decided to sign up with them on September 2015. The initial set up went fine and they seemed friendly, but in the months to follow I have encountered so much pain with HWA. I feel like every time I try to submit something, I have to fight and prove it. There's verification upon verification. I recently submitted a claim for the sewage line. We actually added coverage. And now that we have a problem, they're saying, “No. We're not gonna cover it for you.”

When I was talking to a representative, she had talked about the potential for lightning strikes in North Texas with storms. And she did a good job talking about it and selling it. And I said I'll go ahead and add it to the coverage. Then five months later, when we had a big storm, several things were affected. The electrical monitor for our sprinkler system got hit and was totally fried. So I've filed it with HWA and they had their guy look at it. He said, "It's tied to that storm and it got hit by lightning, and you're gonna have to replace it.” So once we replaced it, HWA said, “No. It's not a part of your house. It's in the garage so that doesn’t count.” I said the garage is part of my house and I fought it. Finally, they ended up saying okay but it was after so much pain of having to fight it. Right now, there's something else that’s going on, and I don’t wanna do this anymore. There's been a lot of frustration and I'm likely going to switch because of it.

I bought a house less than 2 years ago from an old lady that has these old appliances. I told her I'm gonna have to replace all those appliances and she said that they're still working and suggested to give me a home warranty that covers any problems with those. And I said great and got Home Warranty of America. I had a problem with the air conditioning units, and I'm having a problem now with the water heater that's dripping and leaking in my garage but still working. The AC guy who came out here said that once it's broken, he can come out and fix it under my warranty but until then, I'm out of luck. I'm really nervous about it. It's a hazard for me and is costing me money. It really should be fixed because in the middle of winter, I might be in a situation where it's broken in the middle of the night and I'm calling for help. I'm trying to get this thing done now and prevent that from happening.

And there's obvious corrosion as well as there's water that sits on top of the connection there. Home Warranty of America is a disaster recovery solution, not a preventive solution. That's why I don't like having these home warranties. What I'll do next time around is I'd rather spend the $500 policy that I have with them on appliance once a year. I got what I needed with Home Warranty of America but it's not something I'm gonna continue with.

I would not recommend Home Warranty of America. When we call them to file a claim, they always call an independent contractor and they tell us whether a claim is covered or not. But we still have to pay the 75 bucks regardless if it's covered or not. When we had a problem with our old thermostat, they sent the HVAC contractor. Since the house was 23 years old when we bought it, we had no idea how to operate that thermostat. The contractor who came out showed me how to operate it because something had gone wrong with it, and it had been set up incorrectly. He had reset it for me, explained everything and showed me how to correct it. He was a really nice guy.

And three and a half years ago, when we had some problems with our heater, they sent somebody out. Then they found out that somebody had jury-rigged some stuff on the heater. So they were gonna replace it, which was fine, but because all of the jury-rigging that was done, they had to deduct that from the overall cost. And that's cost us more than I thought it should have at that time. But we didn't argue about those things because we needed a heater. So they certainly don’t cover a hell of a lot. I just haven't had the time to go out and find somebody else.

Home Warranty of America came with my home when we purchased it. Not soon after, our circuit panel blew and they replaced our whole circuit panel which was fabulous because that was a $3,000, if not more, fix that they took care of. So that was really nice and it was the most reasonable price. I have submitted a claim on Friday that I’m still trying to get results. They asked me what the problem is and if it was in working order before the problem happened and then they set me up with someone to come out to the house. It was an emergency case because my heater went out and we were minus 38 degrees, so it was followed up within hours after the claim was submitted.

We replaced the fan, but there’s something that’s not making the heat blow out and until that completely goes, they will not replace the unit. The technician is coming over to see if there’s something else that he could do. It’s still a little chilly and the motor is very noisy. It has a really loud squeak when it tries to run. So it’s inconvenient, but I’m not freezing like I was when it went out. So far, it has been a very pleasurable experience.

We've had to file two claims with Home Warranty of America in the past two years, and both times were a huge headache. The last claim was for heating and air. They had fixed things in the past where I trusted them to tell me the truth with what was going on, but this time it was a larger claim and I got a phone call saying that I would be responsible for so much money out of my pocket before they could process it. I asked if I could see what they found and what they were recommending because I wanted to get a second opinion, as that was not what they stated when they came out, and never would they release the vendor's findings.

Then Home Warranty went back on what they were saying and said there was a huge misunderstanding. It's like when we were requesting documentation of what they were saying and they weren't able to provide that. No one would tell me anything. Finally, we said we're going to call a vendor or a person that we trust, and Home Warranty only gave us about a third of what the whole project costs, even though our vendor gave them plenty of documentation. That money came out quickly only because my husband and I called several times and we weren't very nice when we were expressing our dissatisfaction with how things were getting processed.

We also had a roof leak before and when we filed a claim, Home Warranty would only convert about $500, but it was $3000. They said it wasn't covered under the warranty even though our roofer gave them plenty of documentation. And we also had an insurance adjuster come out, but Home Warranty still only covered about a third of what the cost was. Home Warranty is not always difficult to deal with, but two over the four issues we've had has been incredibly difficult. So going forward, we will probably just have our own person come out and if it's something we have to file, then we will just end up paying the difference because we know we're getting honest good work.

This is a complete waste of money. The sales person will sell you the policy telling you that items will be covered, however when you get to an actual claim, they will deny or it will end up costing you big time. My first claim was for my air conditioner coil. It needed replacing, however they would not claim the gas that needed to be used to get the system working again, the disposal of the replaced unit and a few other items. It cost me over $600 in extras and when talking with the technician, he said that his quote to the insurance company was only around $750.

The second claim was for my polaris pump for the pool which I specifically requested and paid extra premium for, but after I filed the claim and paid the technician $75 for a service call, they told me that it wasn't covered and that they were sorry that I was told that on the sales call even after they listened to the recorded conversation but I should have read the contract. This company is not interested in fixing problems, just collecting premiums. And this is evident by all the other complaints and reviews on this site. I wish I had have read before I signed up! When I bought my house, Home Warranty of America was recommended. I was considering another warranty but I assumed that Home Warranty had a history there. I decided to stay with them because I talked with the owner and he said everything worked out fine for him. One of the interactions I had with the company was when I had received a bill for the amount that I was to pay. I called to validate that that was the amount because I had gotten an email as well. Their rep checked and said somebody issued the wrong payment to me and I needed to pay more. I questioned that as I wanted to pay the bill that I was billed. I didn't think that I should pay if it was issued wrong.

They may have changed the bill as a result of the service calls I made. It was for when my garbage disposal went out and also I was concerned about my ice maker. They came out and it was a good thing that I only had to pay one time instead of the two calls. But if I hadn't called Home Warranty of America, I would end up not paying the amount that was more. I was not happy about that because I had no prior knowledge. But rather than arguing with the rep on the phone, I figured I was going to pay the bill and I'll think about it when I renew again.

Other than that, I was pleased with the service I got from the repair person who came out. He handled everything and he checked to make sure that everything was working before he left. I missed some of what he said so when we had a problem later, I called back to say the garbage disposal wasn't working. He said it was and gave me instructions. He told me to press the button underneath and it should come on which it did. I thanked him for that and I appreciated having to do it efficiently that way rather than having to schedule another visit.

We've renewed with them four different times, and had them in our old house for a number of years as well. We have used them a few times. The last claim I made was for my garbage disposal which had to be replaced. It took a few days for them to get back to me to set up an appointment as my schedule's pretty limited and I had to do things on a Monday, so all in all, it took three weeks. But once they got back to me, they were pretty punctual and got the problem resolved quickly. However, they said their replacement garbage disposal was of really good quality and was very comparable to the one that I had, but it wasn't. It's nothing like the one I had before and I'm not thrilled with it at all. In that respect, I wasn't happy, but with the other few claims that I had with them, I was.

I've had a good experience so far with Home Warranty of America. The realtor who sold me the house recommended them. It was very easy to sign up with them and it was very simple to get help from them when something messed up about that. The reps were very courteous and answered all my questions as far as they could with what they knew. Everything was fine. I just had to call them and get them set up. Last year, I submitted a claim. We had to pay some amount first before they took care of the rest but it worked out and the warranty saved me money in the long run. After their service, what they repaired worked as normal.

I just can't lose for the premium is such a good deal. I would recommend it to any new homeowner, especially if the home is out of warranty coverage.

When our realtor bought our HWA warranty, they were also supposed to do the sign up for us. But there was some kind of a glitch, so when we called, they had to redo the dates. But we've now lived in the house for several years and have filed a few claims with HWA. A while ago, we filed a claim for our AC. It ended up being fine and everything was taken care of, although the repair person took a while to get it fixed. But I don’t necessarily feel that it was a problem since the AC is already working and overall, our experience with HWA has been good.

I had a horrible experience with HWA. Usually, there are no problems with the first go around but I've always had to contact them again because whoever they send out doesn't know what they're doing and they wind up having to get a second company out. It's always a big mess. With my dryer, it took a good eight months before I got it situated and I had to go through person after person which was ridiculous. Nevertheless I ended up with a new dryer and my washer got fixed, as well as most of the stuff on my refrigerator.

Home Warranty of America was the original warranty on the house when we got it through my Realtor. My dad owns the house and I'm renting it from him. Signing up for the service was easy since it was all done for me. On my first experience with HWA, I had a plumbing issue. I wasn't sure if the person who came out to check out my problem was sent over from the company because she came in an unmarked white van and didn't have anything stating that she was sent over by HWA. It is a little creepy and the lady was by herself.

And then my next experience was with my air conditioning unit. It was a really hot summer and it took almost a month for them to get a vendor out to finally fix my air conditioning unit problem. Also, it took three different vendors to get it done. I had an incident where I needed more coolant added to my AC, and I called and placed the service call. They said that they called the vendor but I never got a call back from a vendor. Eventually, I had one of my girlfriend's buddies take a look at it and fix it for me because I kept trying to call the vendor that they said was going to call me and I never got a response back. I've had operators who are very helpful on the phone and understand my plight, but I've had others who have not seem to care. In addition, getting in contact with a vendor is a struggle.

I told Home Warranty, "Don't send this idiot back. I need the garage door fixed. Send me somebody who can fix the damn garage door," and they did. The next guy they sent out fixed my garage door in 45 minutes. I would recommend Home Warranty. However, they need to widen their coverage. They should look at other things that people use and have to deal with in their homes, such as fences. That can help out the homeowners, in addition to making a better brand. I would recommend them.

Home Warranty of America really works for me. I am happy being with them. My warranty was given to me by my realtor as a present for buying the house. I made four claims last year and the repairs have been perfect. They did anything I asked for. For example, I ask for a vendor and within minutes they'd find me a vendor and set me up an appointment, then everything got fixed. However I think their deductible went up. It was annoying, but still has a better price than other companies. I would love options for lower deductibles even if that meant paying a higher premium. Like right now, we're at a $100 deductible and I think when we bought it we were $75 deductible. If there was a $50 deductible option, I'd be willing to pay the $12 more a year in my premium, based on if I've had two or three good years in a row where I don't file a bunch of claims. I want that option.

We got the part on Thursday and called to tell him the part was in but they said that he has no openings on Friday and it’s gonna have to be the next Friday. He came back the next week to install the part and it wasn’t working right so we called him right back directly and it took him another week to come out. So we were out a whole month on this washing machine and I felt we were back in college going to the laundromat. But the machine is working now.

We had a home warranty with another company for many years. We had a lot of hassle with them because they claimed something wasn’t put in right. When we moved last year we were looking for something a little different. Home Warranty of America seemed to offer a lot more coverage than what we had. We got into a situation where there were a lot of things that suddenly broke right after we moved in. We had some problems with the fan on the condenser on one of our air conditioning units, and that took three different people to get the right person to fix it. It’s up on a roof and the second guy who came wasn’t warrantied to work up on the roof. But the last guy who came figured it out quickly and replaced it. They completely took care of us.

We've had several claims and I submit it online because when I go through the phone, I have to listen to all the ads that drive me nuts. But the response is very quick and they give me a number. If I don't hear from them right away, I can call them and they assign a person who handles the claim. During the three trips with the air conditioner, I went over the options for renewal because it seemed that we had a couple of things that we were going to pay for that we didn’t need that were covered by our insurance or our condo association. So I decided to drop some of the things and the rep was very good and walked me through that. All in all, I’ve been happy with HWA this last year. My experience with them has been very efficient and they have a really good follow-up.

In the first year of us being in our home we had the evaporator coils go out in our air conditioning unit and we didn’t have a technician in our area that did the Home Warranty side of it, so we ended up having to be reimbursed for it. So I've seen the bad side of Home Warranty as well as being able to use one of their vendors and both experiences were very positive. We have renewed and it was easy as it can be. I filed a claim a year ago for my water heater and HWA took care of it. But I wasn't happy on another claim for my toilet. I called them and described what was wrong with the toilet. It was not leaking so I thought there was no need to send a man out. But they sent a guy out and I was told by the guy the same thing what I told HWA. I sort of blew a gasket when they said they don’t handle the cosmetic or preventative measure and to verify if it was leaking. I thought it was diligent to do something about the toilet before something worse happened. I complained and they said that I said it was leaking. I challenged them to look at any recording and find where I said it was leaking because I more than once said it wasn't otherwise, I couldn’t have waited days for a man to come out if I actually had water. You expect to spend money to have somebody to come look, but to just repeat back what I said just hit me wrong.

I thought the situation could’ve been handled on the phone better and saved us both the trouble of a serviceman and a fee if it's not covered. It took HWA a few days but they handled my complaint very nicely and reimbursed me. I did write them a thank you note for the check and because at least they did the right thing. I got to give them credit for that, but I had to do battle for it and some phone calls. I wished I hadn't renewed at that time because I thought it was a waste of being home for a man to come and tell me things that could’ve been revealed on the phone fairly easily.

When we bought our house, it was part of the agreement the homeowner will buy HWA home warranty for a year for us. When I tried to extend it, it was horrible because I didn’t get what I thought I was getting. They said that the package I had didn’t cover the washer and dryer. I called a couple of weeks before I renewed and I was told I have to upgrade to another package plan to get the washer covered. I wanted their service just so I'd pay co-pay so when I renewed I told the rep that I wanted to get the coverage that will cover the refrigerator, washer, and dryer. I have the Gold package, which was the basic minimum, and the rep I spoke to that time told me that if I add on the GreenPlus for appliances then it will get me an Energy Star appliance and so I told her it was fine with me.

However, the rep just kept my plan that was on there and then added the new GreenPlus but didn't add on the washer and dryer in the coverage. So when I called to report that we had a problem with our washer, the lady I talked to said that the plan I had does not cover it. That ruined it for everything and so I got my washer fixed at my expense. Hence, I cancelled them because there's no point of paying something that I'm gonna have to end up paying for the stuff I wanted covered anyway.

We usually called in and their representatives were helpful, quick, and responsive 99% of the time. I've had to have a hot water tank and a garbage disposal replaced. However, one of our repairs has been awful and we've had to go through two rounds with two different suppliers.

We had a heater go down this time last year and it took a month to get the heater installed. I had no heater from the middle of December to the middle of January. Luckily, I had a gas fireplace that kept us warm. Then when we got it installed we found an issue with the thermostat and I called out my regular people that were local that just do change filters twice year. They said the unit wasn't level, so we tried for three weeks to get the guy to come back but he never did.

We didn't have any more problems with the thermostat so we thought everything was okay. Then over the summer because the unit wasn't installed level we had water dripping until it blew up in August and we had a massive waterfall. So I called HWA, but the guy who did the installation wasn't working for them anymore. In October I called my local people because I said I could get someone from them faster. They came on a Monday and I spent two hours with the guy. I was an assistant and my husband was out of town. He refused to do the work and then my husband was livid when the work didn't go very well. HWA got someone else out because my husband was gone and I didn't want to deal with it. That guy came out and he and my husband went through it and at that point we felt it had fixed enough and it was cooling off. But we couldn't tell so had to wait until next spring and make sure it was not dripping anymore.

Dealing with HWA has sometimes been hard because I know they contract with people and that's part of the deal. But my husband was born in our town and his dad built homes for 20 years so we have a lot of ties with local contractors and service people and HWA does not give the convenience in wanting to let us use who we know. They want to do who they want to use. Luckily we were familiar with the company of the last person they sent out, the second person for the heat and air guy, so it worked out okay.

My experience with Home Warranty of America has been fine so far. Last year, I kept having a leak under the sink and a plumber from a company kept coming and never fixed the problem. He said there's a part needed. And then I waited a month and never heard from them so I called the company and they got another plumber out who came out and fixed it that same day. The person that they had before on our list was really disappointing. I told HWA to make sure that they never send that plumber out to me again. Every time they came out to visit, I had to pay $100, so I spent $500 before I got the problem straightened out. It was never fixed so, in that instance, the company should look at that. If they don’t fix it the first time, then it should still be under that company’s responsibility. Also, I had a window blow out from a storm but HWA doesn’t cover it. Other than that, I had a couple of plumbing problems and they addressed those.

Home Warranty of America came with the house when my husband and I bought it two years ago. We've submitted claims with them several times. The wait time on the phone was a little bit long but it was really easy to state the claim and then getting them to get me a number to call and having the service person to come out. The claim is usually fulfilled within two to three days. Their representatives were very courteous. I never got a mean rep so that was really helpful, too. Since the repairs, everything's working top notch. They have really good people that came out. I absolutely love that they have the 24-hour service. It's great to have somebody always. It's a benefit for them to be open 24/7 in case we have to make a claim at two in the morning. Somebody at least is going to write it down for us to be taken care of the next morning, which is really nice.

The Realtors I was talking to seemed to really like Home Warranty of America and they purchased the policy through our home loan. I didn't have any issues with the experience signing up. Every time I've called, they are easy to deal with. I've had a couple of issues with some vendors that came out, like for the air conditioning. The guy said that it was broken and there was something wrong with it. He said it was low on Freon so there was leak. He wasn't even going to fill it up. When I got home, I was frustrated and called the warranty place and talked to them and told them what happened. They had a technician out on the very next day to come look at it, give us a second opinion and fill it up with Freon refrigerant to get us back on track through the hot summer. It has been great dealing with them. Using the website is great. Overall, it's been a good experience.

But that was more the fault of the Sears warranty department. It was a miscommunication on the part of the actual repair company.

Some things happened during the warranty period and HWA took care of them right away. We had a disagreement about a plumbing issue though. It was resolved, but I didn't agree with the resolution. I compared and contrasted two warranty providers and HWA's website and the information provided regarding their features and coverage were more transparent. But of course, the fine print of what is not included is truly in the fine print. I have submitted a claim with HWA a couple of times. The first process was for a small item and the provider who came out did fine.

The second time was for a bigger item which was the heater in the basement. I got the higher end coverage so it was supposed to provide a new heater that had 90 or 95% efficiency. The provider marked it up in such a way that $2,000 or so was considered not covered. I thought it was gonna be a $5,000-$6,000 piece of equipment and I was getting a good value for it here but I was gonna have to conveniently pay $2000 out of pocket. When I called customer service, they said it was standard. I said I’d like to have somebody else take a look at it but they said they don't do that and customers just get one quote. So I pushed and they gave me two other names but they said if I call other people up, I have to pay the $100 visit fee. I said it's fine.

But this doesn’t seem to be a competitive bidding process and this person who came out may very well believe that he’s gonna get it and HWA is going to push the cost onto the provider and the provider will definitely push the cost on to me. So being the provider for HWA, the overall cost that they’re going to charge will be very different. They also gave me a scale and told me it would be non-covered out of pocket $2,000 if I go with the 90% efficiency which is I have coverage for. But if I decide to go to an 80% efficiency heater, then my out of pocket would only be $1,000. That also doesn’t make any sense because the nature of the out of pocket is exactly the same. They’re just incentivizing me to go with a cheaper brand.

I paid the $65 copay and everything got handled easily and quickly. They were amazing that's why I renewed.

It was super easy re-signing up for the service. I made the phone call and they gave me a price, options for payment, and I made my choice. It was that simple. I submitted four claims in early 2016. I made the phone call, described the issue and they wrote the claim while I was on the phone. They sent me confirmation email with the service that was going to come out and everything was fixed the next day. I did not have to call anyone back. They're professional, adequate, and worth it. It was wintertime and the heat wasn’t working. HWA tried to get somebody from Nashville and it was taking too long. With it being cold, I asked if we could try to find somebody else and they found someone closer to me. The technician was able to come within the next day and fix the heat.

When it was time for renewal this year, my plan had gone up and, of course, the service fee went up too, which HWA said there was nothing that they could do. However, they were able to work with me with the price because I did shop around. I was going back and forth but still decided to stay with HWA, and it's still a much better deal. I submitted a claim for a refrigerator and I wasn't impressed the way Home Warranty of America handled it. The technicians came and said that the compressor was out on it and that they would never fix one on a 15-year old refrigerator. Then our ice maker was out but they couldn't analyze that until they fix the compressor. So I had to invest in doing the compressor first and come back and deal with the icemaker issue later. We got a new appliance and it cost us $1,200. If we had gotten the refrigerator and the icemaker fixed, it would have been around $950.

I talked to another company and they came. They told me that when they work with home warranties, they won't quote a compressor at anything less than replacement value. It's a central component and it's not worth fixing it. When the compressor goes out, it's a domino effect so it's putting money in for that. I sell homes and I include HWA warranty as part of the sale. But I don't feel as confident recommending HWA as I did prior to my own personal negative experience. There's too much backward way of thinking about how they deal with a warranty repair.

My experience over the years has been more bad than good. A few things have been repaired in my home since my membership began, however, there was a huge issue that occurred due to the company's negligence that went ignored when I reached out to them. The problem with my heating and cooling unit in my home has been an issue for over 3 years that has been reported to the Home Warranty Association over several times. Each time an incompetent contractor was sent out to fix half the problem that was occurring, the issue of the leaking water was never fixed or addressed.

The water from the unit turned out to be an issue that was finally solved on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 when Chris from Discount Heating and Cooling discovered that it was a plumbing issue where a draining pipe was never properly connected. Consequently, there is severe water damage to my main bathrooms ceiling and wall from where the unit was leaking in the attic.

05/28/2014 - Damron Plumbing. The technician said that the unit did not have any Freon in it and that is why it was not working. The guy said that the air was fixed and that there was a silver tray up under the heating/cooling unit that was running over with water. He placed a towel up there to catch the water and said that he would return after he reported the new findings to Home Warranty of America. The technician then suggested that someone who specializes in heating/cooling Units should take a look at it.

06/04/2014 - Hewitt Heating & Cooling. This contractor checked both the unit in the attic as well as outside of the home. He made some adjustments to the fan on the inside of the outside unit and claimed to have fixed the part inside of the attic. Still, the water leak was not taken care of as we were assured it was at that time.

06/07/2015 - Phone Call in to Home Warranty of America. A very rude, inconsiderate, and disrespectful representative completely got out of line with my mother and I tried as we tried to explain our problem with the heating and cooling unit. His name was Salvador **. When I told him that we had been having multiple issues with the unit in the past, his response was, “But why did it take y’all a year to call back, though?” I was appalled. He eventually got all the facts and sent out a shady contractor the next day.

06/8/2015 - L&B Appliance. These contractors were completely unprofessional and rude. They did not have a ladder to climb into the attic and properly assess the situation. Consequently, when one of the men attempted to climb out of the attic, he slipped and broke the entry door to the attic! The other guy allowed it to happen. They both promised that the damage to my home would fixed, however, we have never heard from them again! We have even mentioned this to representatives of Home Warranty and still nothing has been done to ensure that L&B Appliance fix the damage to my attic door. They ultimately said that the unit was frozen and had been unthawed. Although the central air was working again, they said they would be back to fix the water leak. DID NOT HAPPEN!!!

01/06/2016 - Discount Heating & Cooling. So far the work that has been done by this contractor has been good. The water damage has started to dry out, which is an indication that the leak has finally been stopped. In conclusion, due to the recent and past events that my family and I have undergone with the contractors of HWA to fix our unit and stop the water damage, may negatively impact our decision to renew our warranty in March. This problem should have been resolved in Spring 2014.

I had a claim for a hot water heater right after I moved. I called Home Warranty of America and the process was simple but I had an issue with the technicians once they got here. Home Warranty hires their own contractors and it's all price-based. They try to get the cheapest people for what they're doing. The technicians said they'll be able to fix the water heater but they didn't have all the parts that they need and didn't discover that until late in the afternoon. It was a little frustrating in how they handled it. They bailed and said they're going to get the part. Half an hour later, they called me and said they were not able to get it and they couldn't do anything until that next afternoon. They were unorganized and left me without water for about 36 hours. Those contractors are responsible for their own work and it was an oversight on their part and not HWA. In the long run, it's not that big of a deal but with my kids and my pregnant wife, it wasn't fun.

Other than that, the reps that I have dealt with at HWA were apologetic on the phone. They're attentive and anytime I needed something, they get people out here. It's reassuring to have Home Warranty and it's nice to know that when things in my house are going to break, I'm not going to shell out a lot of money. I signed up for the warranty for $800 which isn't a big deal. My AC is probably going to crap out on me sometime and I don't want to drop $5,000. I'll pay a couple of years to Home Warranty until my AC goes out.

When we purchased our home, Home Warranty of America was recommended to us. It's the only one that was presented to us and we trusted the seller on that and went with what the seller of the home had provided. It was a new house so I wanted to make sure that the appliances would be cared for in the event they broke down or any other major problems. I recently renewed it and it was an easy process. I was able to do it quickly and payments went through, no problem. Their rep was great to speak with. I did have an unrelated issue but she was able to address that for me as well. So, it was a good experience.

On January 6, 2016, we submitted a claim because the furnace went out. They were able to get someone out there very quickly to help repair it but the floor repair was not covered. We also submitted a claim back in April of 2016 due to toilets constantly running. They were able to get a plumber to come out real quick, replaced the necessary parts and fixed the issues on one of the two toilets. The second toilet began having issues again in June. When I called them back, they said that the 90-day period had passed. They'd have to have someone else come out and take a look at it but it would be a new claim. I explained to them that it appears to be the same problem and I don't think I should have to pay another claim fee just to have someone else come out and tell me the same problem. And then, patch it up and have an issue again in another three months.

Unfortunately, the customer service at that point was very poor. The lady said, "Well, that's not how it works, sir. You need to pay us the fee. We'll get someone out there, and then we'll tell you if you have to pay anymore, if it's covered or not." I ended up having to replace the parts myself the second time around, which fortunately, there's been no problems. Overall, they have a good product and a responsive team, but needs improvement in customer service.

My realtor recommended Home Warranty of America and said she had it and she thought it was a great idea for income property. I went with HWA and I’m with them more than one year now. I’ve renewed again last February. They have that little grace period wherein they want to make sure that you don’t have any damaged appliances. Another competitive home warranty company, Home Shield, only gives you two weeks to fight the 30 days that HWA provides. It's something to look into for that, but I’m satisfied with HWA's service. I had to have a refrigerator replaced and things went very well with that. They asked me if I would like to have it replaced or would I like the money for that refrigerator, and I said I’d like to have it replaced. So, they sent me an email and a comparable model, and then they asked me if I liked it and to make sure I check the measurements and I did.

They're good, very responsive and I like what they’ve done. However when they put that replacement out there and they put a logistical support to deliver it, that’s where everything fell apart. The logistics individual they use is out of South Georgia and I’m in Jacksonville. He doesn’t schedule appointments, he doesn’t contact or make sure that the customer is there. I’ve tried to call him twice on the phone number that was on the notice and left a message but I never got a phone call as well. I never talked to anybody. I didn’t hear anything for days and then he popped out of nowhere. He called me at 7 o’clock in the morning and I’m 30 miles away from the rental property, and he said, “Hey, I’m on my way. I’ll be there in 15 minutes.”

I was very disappointed with it. It was unprofessional and disgusting. He must be from a satellite company because they have another home warranty company for my residence and he did the same thing there. My security cameras captured him. He put the ramp down on the truck and he already had the washing machine unloaded off the truck when he came to the door. He didn’t even park and come to the door and make sure someone is home. He ended up putting it back on the truck because nobody's home.

I’m military. I am prompt, accountable and responsible. I’m employed and I’m not sitting around waiting. This guy just shows up, and he has a pickup truck with a trailer, and what he does is stack it according to his anticipated deliveries. So when he comes to deliver to my house, which is possibly his first stop, and he can’t deliver it, he has to rearrange his trailer so that’s further in the back and he can do it on the return trip. He does a great job at what he does but as far as scheduling and phone contact and information like that, there were none of that.

I would recommend Home Warranty of America with the caveat to never go with the replacement because of their logistics employee. I’m greatly disappointed twice about the logistics services. I’ve told other people to never ask for the replacement. My mindset is that I will never replace it again. I will always take the check and I will schedule my own appointment with a local vendor so that I can get what I want when I want it.

The claim was about a plumbing issue because there’s a loud knock in the pipe and I knew that’s a fixable issue. The plumber seemed fairly rookie, although I didn’t know how old he was or how long he had been working. I figured he would’ve at least asked some questions about it. He did and I told him to flush the toilet to hear it, but he never flushed the toilet. I told him about a leak I found and I’m pretty sure he took care of that. Other than that, I haven’t called them back yet and it’s my fault.

The process in signing up for the service with Home Warranty of America was fine. However, the last two times that we've called to see if something was covered, it wasn't. So, I'm beginning to wonder what is covered. At this point, we're very dissatisfied and not pleased at all because they haven't covered what we feel should be covered in a home warranty. It seems ridiculous that what we have to pay for should not be something that we have to pay for since we're paying for a home warranty. We shouldn't be paying for nothing. So, next time around, when our warranty is due to be renewed again, we'll look for somebody else.

My experience with Home Warranty of America has been very worthwhile. Our realtor suggested them to us when we bought our house and we went with it. The signing up was pretty easy and we just renewed a couple of months ago, which was fairly easy as well. It was a pain-free process. It was also easy and self-explanatory submitting a claim. Once on the website, walk through and fill up the form. In the 2-3 times we’ve done it, we’ve gotten a response relatively quickly for people to come out and fix whatever it was that we needed fixed. Everything’s been great. It's been very helpful on things that we use on a very regular basis from our dishwasher, washer, dryer, and garbage disposal.

You need to live in the residence 30 days before you can file a claim. Anything before that is considered a pre-existing condition. (This is not a full year coverage if my warranty runs out on the day I purchase the home.) Limit to the water heater size they'll fix - gallons. I have a 75 gallon electric tank and the limit is 70. Anything bigger is considered commercial. (I live in a single family home) I only found this out after we purchased.

I opened a claim in May 2016 regarding an issue with my pool filter. HWA authorized a replacement and they would only cover up to $1,000 in total for any pool related claim. This coverage is extra and if you know anything about pools, $1,000 does not go a long way. In total it was going to cost $1,300 to replace the filter. I received a bill from the pool vendor that was roughly $100 more than expected. Verified with HWA that they only paid out $895 in total on my pool coverage. I called HWA back and they said they would contact the pool vendor regarding the extra $105 and never did. I've still not been reimbursed the $105 nor have I heard back from HWA.

Dryer claim opened on November 18, 2016. (It takes 2 plus cycles of drying your clothes before they're dry.) Originally gave me a vendor that did not service my area. New vendor is Sears. Sears takes 2 days to schedule a time and it's a time that works for them not you. If it doesn't work then you need to call back to request a new time. Then wait 2 days before you hear back. First tech didn't call until 1:30. Originally supposed to be there from 8-12. We had left and were no longer available for him to service the dryer. Had to call back to schedule another appointment. On the next appointment, the tech called and couldn't make it and needed to reschedule The tech finally came and told us everything is fine with my dryer. With electric dryer there's 3 components (Power, tumbling and heat). This is per the tech. They all seemed to be working fine.

Dryer is still not fixed and now this is costing me time and money to run the electric dryer additional cycles. Call back to reschedule someone else to look at the dryer. Need to wait for sears to schedule an appointment that works for them. I'm still waiting as of December 28, 2016 for the dryer to be fixed. New claim on my water softener opened on December 27, 2016. HWA sent me a vendor that I called to schedule the appointment. On the phone the vendor told me he couldn't service my softener as he did not work on the brand that I had. Called back to get a new vendor and HWA said they would find someone that could service the softener. Asked to speak with a supervisor and they put me into a voicemail box for supervisors and then before I could leave a message I was hung up on. Each time I call it takes 10 mins plus of holding.

The lowest recorded outdoor temp since the 16th has been -12 degrees. Every time the technician repairs a damaged part he finds a new part that is damaged and needs to be ordered, each time we are asked to pay a $100 deductible.

Now Home Warranty of America is denying any further claims saying we should have a manufacturer's warranty that covers repairs and we need to contact the manufacturer for further help and they refuse to reimburse us any deductibles we've paid for services resulting in an unrepaired furnace. 13 days, no heat, 25 hrs spent waiting for technicians to show plus countless minutes on the phone all through the Christmas holiday and Chicago winter with 2 small children and 1 infant in the home. So I called the warranty folks to get them to send another vendor. HWA didn’t want to and that was unacceptable. Eventually, they sent another vendor who came and fixed the thing with no problem.

We went with them again when we bought our second home because of their customer service and how quick they dealt with everything. We hadn't really used them very much until our furnace broke during absolutely the coldest week of the year and they were there the following day to fix it. I was out of town at work and they bent over backwards to help us. The crazy thing is that seemed to open up Pandora's box and we had to use them quite an awful lot in the next six months on various things that had decided to stop working.

We've already used them once since we moved into our new house last year. It was absolutely easy submitting a claim online. Someone called me right away. The follow up was decent as well. We used the home warranty for our garage door. They sent someone out to fix it right away. They came out and did a great job. And I was communicated with from Home Warranty of America probably five times throughout the process, including two follow-up phone calls and one follow up email to rate the service.

I disliked that I had to pay the 75.00 for a plumber to come to my condo simply to say within 5 mins that they cannot handle my claim. Based on my conversation with them over the phone explaining the issues, they should have been able to determine that they could not handle the problem. Each and every claim the leaks were behind a wall which plumbers do not handle unless I have someone else remove the drywall. Lots of money was spent and nothing was done.

I've been using the services of Home Warranty of America for more than a year. A couple of weeks ago, I filed a claim over the phone. The person I talked to was fine but the overall experience with my claim was really horrible. My issue is still open and I'm still waiting for their feedback. I emailed the customer support supervisor and had a chance to talk to him on the phone. First, I reported the issue that there was a leak in my basement on Friday, and they assigned a contractor, Franklin Plumbing, to have a look. I waited the whole morning until almost noon on the day that the contractor was scheduled to come, but didn't see anyone showing up.

I called the supervisor back and he gave me the contractor's contact number, and asked me to contact the contractor directly. I did but the contractor said they do not repair the water line if it's leaking outside the house and they only do inside house water line repair. I went back to the customer support team and they said that their contractor should do that. So, I called the contractor back the second time. They were mad at me and said, "We do not do that service. Why do you keep calling us?"

So, basically, the customer support team assigned to me a contractor that doesn't do the service I need. It was too bad. Then they said sorry and that I can get my own contractor. So I got my own contractor, but we still had a lot of roadblocks to get my own contractor approved. They kept telling me that my contractor didn't give them all the information that they needed. My contractor called Customer Support four times. If they didn't get the information, I don't get it and I'm fed up. I haven't called Customer Support for about two weeks, but I'll call them back today or tomorrow to figure out what my case is. This was a very terrible experience I had here.

They were speedy and very professional. They didn't have the parts, so it took a day to get the parts and the next day they came and fixed it. Now our AC is quieter than before. It also runs more efficiently and is not burning as much electricity. I renewed with Home Warranty online and it was easy. I was with this company since 2013. The first time I needed to them to replace my hot water heater that was over 12 years, and got shafted. The tech (IGD Plumbing) that was cahoot with them (HWA), stated that the unit was damage due to leak that was on top of the water heater, so HWA denied the claim. There is no water leak above the water heater and the air gap between the vent is typical for venting. Well I am out $1,800 for the 3 years I was with HWA, and will have to get the water heater replaced on my own.

I had couple of other plumbers that verified that there was no exterior leaks that cause the unit to go bad and that the unit was simply old (12 yrs old) and failed. I would also recommend that you are present when their technicians come to your property to make sure that there is no funny business while on your property. You might want to get your own assessment before you contact these HWA so you can have your own facts before dealing. Or simply don't deal with them.

I'm a contractor, so I know how things can go wrong in a household easily and I looked into getting a home warranty. Then Home Warranty of America was close to our home. They were turning to the things that I was registering for the sole purpose of making sure I had all of my ducks in a row as far as the dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, microwave. They laid it out pretty good and that's what made me acquire them.

I submitted claims to them. One was for my sink. I suggested Home Depot which is about eight minutes away from here. They came out and did that. The guy was looking for a different type of sink and my wife told me she'd like to have the same type that she originally had. The gentleman at Home Depot listened to what she suggested and he found it and came back with it. It was almost identical to the one that we had that was taken out. Then the last one was for my dishwasher. They came in, talked with me, looked at the items and stoves. The guy even checked the items that I didn't expect to be checked, which is my garbage disposal and my sink, and ran me a discharge hose from the dishwasher all the way into the garbage disposal unit.

Home Warranty of America is a pretty good entity to have when purchasing a house because they'll listen to you. They'll direct you into who they are most friendly with and patient, to be able to suggest to you the list of people that they used and forthcoming in regards to doing a job. As far as inspecting their work, they do a great job. They've been great by me and even by my wife. She was elated to find out when she got home that this faucet that was busted. She told me that she thought it was the same faucet. I told her it's a new one. I was happy that she was happy. A happy wife is a happy life.

They justify what they state in their agreement to make you very satisfied with what they do. It doesn't take long to get in touch with them. They respond to your action and tell you immediately who they are suggesting and the agent or the representative would give me a call and set up a time. These guys are pretty damn good. They're great and I got no complaint whatsoever in regards to them.

I went to an insurance commission convention and there were people from Home Warranty of America there. A person talked about how good the services had been for other people and there was also a rep from Florida representing them. Signing up in sales was good since I only had to go online. I'm currently in the health insurance but I worked for the John Deere company, I worked for an independent agency, and I've sold extended warranties. I know more about warranties than anything so I know what’s workmanship and parts, lack of maintenance, wear and tear, and anything like that. I had no problem interpreting what their policies were and there was no discussion or argument about that. I then sold policies to two good, real close friends but now, I'm advising them to cancel although they haven't yet.

We have a terrible experience with HWA and we could get anything resolved. The policies keep going up each year with the rates and when I asked to speak to management in the company, people won’t call back. Communication was terrible and I can never get the same person. I'd give most of the people credit, unfortunately, they had a job but they did not know what they were doing and some of them were pretty short. They couldn’t get anybody out for us and we would call and they'll take the calls up to a supervisor immediately but it was always, "We’ll call you back," and no immediate response. They never come back. If I had time, I would have reported them to the insurance commission.

HWA don’t back up their warranties and wouldn’t pay claims. We've done 2 claims. One was for a dishwasher and we went from August 8th to the first of November getting the dishwasher fixed with only a simple $25 part and that’s totally ridiculous. If my wife had gotten into it, she would really unload it. It took the guy 10 minutes to fix it but we had three people come out. They couldn’t get anybody to come out so apparently, they must have a reputation for not paying their vendors or their repair people really good.

Then we had an air conditioner come out and a guy repaired the coil but it didn’t last six weeks. The air conditioner was 20-something years old so we can’t re-patch it part by part and so we needed to have a whole unit put in. We got a professional company to come in and replace the whole air conditioner and we spent about $7,000. But they have not paid out what we paid in premium and it took only a $500 buyout. HWA are not business people and the people they sent, especially for the air conditioner, were non-professional. This would’ve been the third year we're on the program and the expiration date expired on the card I was paying with and I did not renew.

HWA was difficult, impossible to deal with, and did not want to get repairs made. They're one of the worst experiences we’ve had in consumerism. I’d love for the president of their company to pick up the phone and call me. We asked for management and nope, they would never pass us on. We are owed a big apology and I really think we ought to have a lot of money back, but I know that’s getting in the way on asking that. We’ve called and emailed the surveys but there's no response. I’m 68 years old and they're one of the worst consumer jobs I've ever received. They're extremely bad.

I'm a first-time homeowner so I didn't know anything about home warranties, and my real estate guy suggested that I go for Home Warranty so I did. I had a couple of claims last year and everything was done perfectly. Everything was really quick, starting from getting an appointment and then getting a technician to come out to see the issue and provide the fix. I was very happy. I continued to extend the contract and then I’m doing this year as well with Home Warranty, and I’m hoping to get the same kind of support and service from them. I would recommend it to my friends and colleagues.

First call for non functioning fridge was never given a call back by first service contractor. 48 hours later called and switched to Sears Home Services. No called no showed to 2 appointments. Diagnosed issue and ordered part but took almost 2 weeks to return to fix. Upon returning to fix found other issues which needed parts that would take another 2 weeks. Spoke with the HWA buyout rep who advised me to take a buyout that would be about 60% of cost of repair which was $1258.00. Expecting $650.00 to $700.00 I was basically conned into buying a new fridge at the cost of 1300.00 only to later be offered a laughable amount of 488.00 buyout. I had great interactions with previous claim with HWA but as of lately they have failed in the customer service aspect of their responsibilities and have soured my opinion of the companies policy and as a whole.

I bought a house and my real estate agents paid for the home warranty from Home Warranty of America for a year. It was a good experience because I had a few things that needed to be done and I kept it up after that. The customer service was also fine. The only concern that I have had is when I made a report and I needed repair.

There are only a few repair people who are enrolled with Home Warranty through them because I’m across the lake from them. I’m in a different parish. So, sometimes when I get a call back from the person who’s going to do the repair, I find out that they’re from New Orleans and not in my area. So, in certain cases I would call them back and ask if there is anyone close to me who might be a repairperson that I could deal with. It’s not their fault and as I understood it they can't just pick anyone from my parish or my area to come out and service whatever I need. Other than that, they’ve always been very courteous and served my needs. I wish their price wouldn’t go up.

I submitted a claim in 2014 when my dryer went out. They sent someone out to repair. The person who came out was open to conversation as regards to what was going on with the appliance. Throughout the whole thing, it was great. He was very professional. The repair was outstanding. It was done in a timely fashion and the dryer has been working ever since. HWA is very professional, timely, and great to work with. I'm completely satisfied as of right now.

My realtor doesn’t sell a house without home insurance on it so she actually integrated the Home Warranty of America policy with my mortgage. I used them once and it was great so I chose to extend my warranty with them. Our AC went out in July during my daughter’s graduation and birthday party. I put in my claim and the rep took the information down and said someone would give me a call back in regards to the follow-up call. She gave me the name of the company that I was supposed to receive the callback from. They got someone out and got the air conditioner fixed and we seated out only 2 days and that was summer. When they came, they weren't there long at all. They took care of everything, and gave me some tips. They did a really good job and were quick, painless, and out the door. It was a great and wonderful experience.

I will be putting in another claim for a building error because our air conditioner line was put outside the frame and has to be moved inside. They’re gonna have to be recovered through the air conditioner and I’m drywalling my basement so I have to have somebody come in and move the line. It’d be good if I get the same people. At any rate, I’ve already recommended HWA to some family members and friends.

There are some plumbing companies that quite frankly should be taken off your vendor list Or at the very least permanently removed from my choices!! There was a communication breakdown 2 days ago in that the one company (His and Hers) that I asked not to service was the one that called to set an appointment. Then the one that was assigned called (Metrotech) and sent out someone because he finished early causing my tenant to rush home so vendor would not leave. But then the vendor could not speak English and was telling the tenant that the leak was not where it was. After several minutes of frustration the vendor left without a diagnosis. The call was cancelled by me. So I now have a $100 vendor call fee sitting with HWA till I have another call. That is a lot and should be refunded!! - Rather odd business practice.

Bottom line is as I have had home warranty companies for 20 years, the quality service vendors seem to be going "south"!! I wish your company could be the one to make a strive to find better by paying vendors in a timely manner and finding ones that produce quality work (at least in the pool service and plumbing industry). I did have a great plumber with you, Greg's Plumbing. He did not renew? Ask yourself WHY?

The worst experience I have had with service, bar none. I ended having to pay $1,400 out of pocket after a hurricane hit my town, which resulted in a storm surge that killed my A/C motor. I had to pay out of pocket because you all could not send anyone to my home to repair my A/C?! I called as soon as the motor went out and incessantly during the more than 2 weeks I had no A/C and waited for service from your company. All to no avail. I finally had to research and begin calling the executives of HWA (Direct Energy) to get some answers re my reimbursement claim since I went ahead and paid out of pocket (which is what your reps advised me that I needed to at that point). This company could have cared less that myself and my husband went without A/C in humid and hot September Florida weather. Absolutely the worst service ever.

I'd never renew my home warranty with this company. I will be purchasing a new home warranty, but I'll definitely be searching for a new and more competent company to service my home's warranty needs in 2017. Although I filled in 1 star (form would not let me submit otherwise) my service was actually less than zero. I wish there was an option to indicate negative stars.

Submitting a claim with them was easy. All I had to do was tell them what was wrong and they had the guy come out. Then the guy had to call them with the information of what was the issue and did everything else. The only thing was the prolonged wait into getting the AC unit. It was almost a month and it was the height of summer. But besides that, everything else was okay. They took care of everything that they needed to take care of.

With Home Warranty of America, you have a work order and you got somebody to come out every item that they want to deal with. If you had three separate items, that's a $100 each settlement of the time they're out because you got three separate issues and the person may or may not get the issue resolved. From my experience, I called in October to get a Home Warranty technician out because of the serious plumbing issues in my home and it was unsuccessful. They weren't available for two or three days. My house could have been totally flooded out and they wouldn't have cared. I had to call an outside technician. A week later, Home Warranty technicians called but it was too late.

I have it on paper that I've been calling since October 7th. Up until today, I've been having major issues and they've only wanted to cover a very small portion of the cost of the plumbing. I had to pay the technician and Home Warranty of America still deducted $100 service fee. It's totally irresponsible. After they paid the very, very, very minimum, I was still having problems because this was not a $300 job which they pay $282 and no technician showed up. Our contract with them includes what's on the cover page of the contract stating that all other unforeseen prior issues should be covered. I'm actually waiting for an attorney from HWA to call me back.

I had a friend of mine that had the policy for about 12 years ago. Apparently maybe at that time it worked well so I gave them a shot. Then my friend told me that after I had them, he had also had the same experience getting his own technician out. Then finally, HWA gave him a portion of what he paid for. It was really devastating. I would not sit here and lie to anybody. It's not worth the money. I'm very dissatisfied and I would never recommend them. I would not put my family or friend in the position when I initially got Home Warranty of America. If you read over all those fascinating things, you think generally on the cover of a contract it sounds awesome. I had really advertised that even in my neighborhood. HWA have enough business that they can ignore and can do all kinds of stuff. It appears that they think it's legal until someone corners them with a really good attorney at law.

Both the company and the service are pretty good but they are handled very haphazardly. Based on the online reviews, I could see why a quite of few persons were very dissatisfied with the overall business of Home Warranty of America. They really have a real stringent process to try and get anything done. I have to be like an attorney to talk to them. There are a few people that sound really kind and nice but to get to the actual work to get anything done, one has to call at least 100 times.
