I spent 3,500 on Home Depot's home collection online cabinets. I knew it was risky because the cabinets were not something you could see in the store but I thought they looked beautiful. So I got the cabinets in a timely manner but one was damaged. No problem. They sent another right away but it took about 20 days (held up our remodel since it was the sink cabinet).
To save space, I ended up going with a smaller fridge and wanted to return one cabinet (200.00 CABINET). I called to find out how to return the cabinet. I was told then, for the first time (was nowhere written in return policy when I bought the cabinets online) that I would incur a 25% restocking fee. Well after some disappointment I returned it anyways. Did everything I was supposed to do. Had to be home when cabinet was picked up, had to be in original packaging and new shipping label. Finally, when I am refunded I get 28.00 for cabinet. Come to find out the shipping cost even falls back on you. None of this is disclosed before you buy.
I had to call the cabinet makers and now they are sending me back to home Depot so they can give me a "one-time" grace to get my shipping money back when it was never communicated to me. All I can say is do not buy cabinets from them. They are not as high of quality as you would expect. One of my pantry cabinets (622.00 cabinet) is not centered so when you open and shut it, it rubs... but who wants to go through the hassle anymore. Poor customer service and no one knows who to send you to or any of the right answers.

My installation process with Home Depot started in December 2015, ordered kitchen cabinets from Kraftmaid and bathrooms from Martha Stewart. When kitchen cabinets arrived, the installer found out that moldings were different color and few parts missing. He let Home Depot know about it and we had to reorder, it took a month. Countertops that I also ordered from Home Depot was not installed because they need cabinets to be installed first. When finally countertop people came, some pieces were cut wrong and drilled wrong and another 2 weeks of reordering and waiting. And to get all proper things ordered and get installers I had to call Home Depot NON stop.
Finally some parts from Kraftmaid came, but not all of them. I called to Home Depot again and they said that everything was shipped and Kraftmaid started the investigation. Another 2 weeks. I have moldings, panels and a lot of other things in my rooms and garage. I asked installers to come and at least do something that they could. They came, said that I didn't have all the parts and while I was calling to Home Depot they just left. When I asked coordinator from Home Depot why they would leave without even saying goodbye, the answer was: "They are busy with another job". Nice. And I am not a customer? Felt really offended...
Till today my kitchen is not finished, granite installation is far from perfect. It is extremely difficult to deal with Home Depot, no coordination between vendors, installers and Home Depot. If you want something to be done, you have to spend half of your day calling to everybody and it takes a lot of nerves. Would I recommend Home Depot to anybody? NEVER!!! Horrible experience.

I wish I'd read some online reviews before I contracted for my refacing/counter job from The Home Depot. I regret that I can't give less than one star for a review. I contracted to have cabinets refaced and counters replaced from The Home Depot in Seabrook, NH, store #3404. The job, for which I paid $16K, has just been "finished". My complaint has to do with the warranty and lies given by Home Depot and their attitude toward the consumer. The installer was good and did a good job with what he did install, but I was having new appliances installed at the same time. I ordered a new cook top and ventilation to be installed from a separate company. The ventilation was to drop in behind the cook top and the hole in the counter top was to accommodate both. The counter installer talked over the phone with the appliance installer and was told that this should be the case.
The Home Depot subcontractor installer actually opened the ventilator box and referred to the installation instructions. Then ordered a new counter top and cut a hole to accept the cook top but not the ventilation. ("Read and ignore.") To be fair, the appliance installer was given a last minute chance to come over and consult with the Home Depot installer before finalizing counter installation but declined because he assumed the hole had been cut to the proper dimensions and ventilation would just drop in. When he got there to install, it turned out that the way the hole was cut and the counter top installed, the hole for the cook top/ventilator and a lip above the back splash would both have to be cut to accommodate the vent. This would make for a very ugly installation. Now I have a nice new cook top but no ventilation.
I had to return the vent equipment, paying a 20% restocking fee ($565.79), and have to now consider a recirculating hood if I want ventilation of any kind. I went to Home Depot to talk to the cabinet people and was told it should be The Home Depot's fault since the hole was cut to the wrong size. But of course the manager would have to be consulted before anything was done. I waited a couple of days and went back, only to find that what the manager had said was that they would give me a $100.00 credit toward purchasing one of Home Depot's hoods. I would have to use The Home Depot to both purchase the hood and install it. That was the extent of the offer - not even a break on installation. This is an insulting offer. I could probably have gotten at least that or more by simply walking in and asking what they could do for me on a hood purchase.
Since then I have contacted the project manager from Home Depot. He was very definite that he did not want me to publish this review on the internet and would handle the situation. After several days of not hearing from him I finally emailed him. The response I got was a phone number to call. I called the number and my information was taken. I was told that I would receive a call later that day about the situation. Days passed with no call. I then called again and did receive a return call. Unfortunately I was in a doctor's office at the time. The person who called said he would call back later that day or the next morning -- but no call. At this point I'm tired of chasing and getting the runaround from Home Depot personnel. No one wants to even talk about the problem.
The Home Depot is apparently attempting to join that infamous group of businesses, such as used car dealers, which make a habit of lying to consumers to get their money then abandoning them. Like a used car dealer, once Home Depot has your money they want nothing more to do with you and any problems are yours and yours alone. Don't believe the sales hype!

My first impressions with the two people who came to my house to analyze our needs were patient and knowledgeable and on time. The contractor who did the work was excellent and the whole job was finished when they said it would be finished. We had one small problem, which we noticed a month later, and the contractor came out the same day I called to fix it. The people at the Refacing Dept. were courteous and helpful at all times.

Home Depot has recently completed the re-facing of my kitchen cabinets and I could not be more pleased. My installers (husband & wife team who are contractors for HD) were punctual, efficient, skillful, experienced and professional. They did a superb job on the re-facing and successfully dealt with many problems in my non-routine kitchen project. The cabinets (a silver-grey semi-gloss choice) look like brand new, high end cabinets. I am very satisfied with this experience and am considering do a future project on the bathroom cabinets.

Kitchen Reno - Including the time it has taken to get UGIS to fairly reconcile (reimburse us) for work we had to pay for upfront, though not done, it all began with Home Depot in January and just ended January 2016. I know people who've built new homes in less time. Had to go through the kitchen designer, local store manager and finally district contracts manager to get agreement on what UGIS owed us.... though not in the bank yet. Best thing in the process is the HD Customer Care Dept. That's how we got UGIS' attention. Would I ever again use a HD installer --NEVER! Final inspection? Nope. UGIS depends on their contractor to oversight. Now, that makes sense, doesn't it!!

The kitchen layout was done incorrectly and cabinets did not fit. The quality of the Innermost straight grain veneer cabinets is poor as the veneer is narrow strips that do not line up and have lots of color variation. There were missing parts from the order. Innermost tried to correct the problems but was not successful. Overall the project was delayed several months until I hired a carpenter to fix the problems. I would never recommend Home Depot or Innermost for kitchen cabinets.

The level of incompetence is astounding. How the ball could be dropped by so many designers, employees, managers, etc. is almost comical if I weren't the one with a kitchen drawer on my dining room table for 3 months. Every time I have attempted to follow up on the progress/status of the order, there are no notes in the system. This means that each time I have had to start over from finding the original order to identifying which drawer was broken, to ordering the replacement part. It was a mistake spending the money that we spent renovating an entire kitchen with Home Depot and believing that we had a reputable company to stand behind their design and product. Lesson learned, go with a company that only handles custom cabinetry. They will be able to help you if ever something needs repair. Home Depot has been an epic fail.

We got new kitchen counters installed by Home Depot in April '15. I questioned the seam the day it was installed and was assured it would settle and be flat. I trusted the installers. Six months later I noticed the seam was popping. Home Depot claims the counter got wet. They sold it to us as a KITCHEN counter. What do you DO in a kitchen? They will only give us $1,000 towards a new counter, requiring us to pay the difference. They say it is OUR fault. We did not have water sitting on the counter. We have done extensive business with this company and this is just devastating to us given how much we have spent on the entire project.

Gave Home Depot our cabinet Refacing job. 5 weeks later, cabinets were brought into my home and were not true to sample. Far from it. Color was solid instead of a hand-glazed look. Major problem with quality control. Those "wrong" cabinets are still sitting in middle of my kitchen since September. I cancelled hosting Thanksgiving. After selecting a second option amidst major communication problems within the Home Depot process, a project manager was assigned, who eventually admitted after an hour meeting in my home that they cannot control or guarantee the consistency of the cabinet colors, and even worse, the framing material used on face and sides of cabinets. This issue was highlighted after he brought samples of the framing material for me to select and agreed they cannot match the Thermafoil doors.
He also stated there was a 5-year warranty for the job, but then handed me a warranty where it stated a 10-year warranty. When I questioned him on this, he said he needed to confirm the warranty and guessed Thermavision must "add 5-yrs on top of the store warranty" but he wasn't sure. This is the project manager I am supposed to have confidence in? Days earlier he had offered for me to have them void and nullify the project with no cost to me. I will take Home Depot up on this. They need to get a handle on their product outsourcing, their communication process, and importantly, their quality control and assurance.

I ordered a kitchen from Home Depot. It is a Martha Stewart kitchen. When I received the kitchen, multiple doors were damaged, front drawers were having letters marked with markers, written under the stain and varnish, 4 of the actual cabinets were smashed. I called HD and they ordered replacements. However, we had to wait another 4 weeks to get delivery. Once that delivery arrived, the manufacturer sent a cabinet without the doors. It is now 2 months from delivery time and I still do not have my kitchen installed. I will not order from Martha Stewart kitchens again.

Wendy of Home Depot contacted me regarding my issues (as outlined in my previous review). She and Curt worked very hard to come up with a solution for me. They went above and beyond my expectations. Although I believe the store manager was not proactive at all in helping me, these two Home Depot employees really stepped up to the plate. I can honestly say I am now a satisfied customer.

Through Home Depot, Precision Countertops installed my kitchen countertops. I asked for a bid that was broken down. Their bid included $312.00 to remove and haul away my existing countertop; and $742.00 for the plumbing work to remove my sink and then install the new sink. I had my own licensed contractor remove and haul away my old countertop for $100.00 and my own licensed plumber remove and reinstall my sink for $310.40. I told Precision Countertops I would pay for the countertop and installation.
I have a kitchen window above my sink and then my contractor removed the molding per Precision Countertops request. The countertops were installed and after a couple of months there was warping around the sink! Precision countertops tried to blame my licensed plumber. Then they came out with Home Depot and they said it was water damage due to my molding not being replaced. THEY DID NOT SEAL THE COUNTERTOP IN THAT AREA AND ADMITTED IT!! They never told me it wasn't sealed nor did they tell me I had to have the molding replaced soon.
I have cancer and was undergoing surgeries at the time so there was a delay in my kitchen remodel. They refused to fix it and the Home Depot store manager, Jay **, refused ANY TYPE of compensation. (After all, he had my money. Why decrease his profit?) I believe both Home Depot and Precision Countertops took gross advantage of an officially disabled, partially blind, elderly woman who ASSUMED they sealed the ENTIRE countertop. The manager of the Home Depot store never even had the courtesy to call me himself with his Draconian response to my dilemma.
Updated on 11/12/2015: I contacted the Home Depot head office through the Better Business Bureau. At the BBB's request, Home Depot reviewed my complaint with Precision Countertops. Their solution changed from "they won't do anything about the damages to my new countertops as a result of them not sealing the entire countertop (something they failed to share with me)" to offering me a $250.00 credit towards THE PURCHASE OF A NEW COUNTERTOP!!!
While I wasn't angry before, I am very angry, now that they offered to take more of my money for their mistake. Now, I am in the process of giving Home Depot a 30 day warning that I will be filing a complaint with the State of Oregon Construction Contractors Board as I have been informed by other companies that sealing the entire countertop is standard practice.

November 2014 we started on our Kitchen design. By May 2015 we finalized and paid for our kitchen cabinets. Meanwhile our kitchen addition was being built. Home Depot placed our order on hold. August addition inside is complete and Home Depot sends out to "Crew2" their install company to come out to measure. Installer tells us that he will send this over to Home Depot right away and we should have a delivery date within a week. Now it's 3 weeks later and we keep emailing our kitchen designer and calling to find out about our delivery/order date. We find out that our order is cancelled due to a cabinet size change 3 weeks later! A Few weeks more later we are called to the store to find out that the molding we picked out would not fit and we have to pick out new molding. Well let's say this, we really has no choice. At this point they told what would fit. Still no word on install. But we get a call telling us they need to schedule a measure again.
Now at this point our Cabinets are scheduled to be delivered Sept.17. The install should have been scheduled weeks ago as they told us. Finally after days on end calling to schedule install or get some answer, my husband and I are the ones calling. We finally get a hold of Crew2 (Not Home Depot) schedule install September 21st. Installer shows up and tells us he can't get the tall cabinets in the house to stand up. They are too tall. He leaves, Home Depot calls and states installer needs to cut kick toe off to install. He comes back, and has to cut and build new bases to get the cabinets in the house and stand up not to hit the ceiling mind you. At this point we need new panels to cover up the screws where they had to build the new bases.
Fast forward, it is now October 19 and our Kitchen is still not installed! we have been working with corporate and find out that the 36' inch cabinets should have been 30' inch and the proper moulding. Wall Ovens were installed by Home Depot as well and stated in our install but they are not working. We had to pay our electricians to come out since we were told probably a electrical issue - It was not. We have power. Not one words on fixing that. We have done all the communicating at this point. We were offered a $200 gift card after all the time we spend taking time off and making calls to make appointments, etc. when we shouldn't have had to. To actually replace the cabinets and have the design we picked out replacement costs would be well over $5000!
We would have to wait to have cabinets reordered and still have to have walls repaired due the cabinet size change and have our kitchen ripped out again! The store manager states he has done a lot for us. He has done nothing by order replacement parts to fix the mistakes they made to begin with! I could have build a house in less time. Such a bad experience at this point and very disappoint at the level of customer service. Still no kitchen completed!

I had an appointment scheduled with **, a kitchen designer at the Home Depot on 6725 - 104 Street. To my disappointment, she decided to take a day off at a last minute, and did not bother to call and reschedule the meeting with her only client for the day. It makes me feel ** is very unreliable, unprofessional and does not value her customers. If you are planning to spend over 10K on your kitchen and looking for a professional designer to work with, think twice before you book with **.

We ordered a complete set of kitchen cabinets and encountered several problems when delivered. We were directed to the store Manager Mr. Matthew **. He is very mild mannered and listens and best of all he takes notes listing by number each of our problems. None too small, none too big. He gave us his card and private cell phone number. He worked with us contacting the manufacturer for quick as possible resolution. My wife and myself while not happy about the manufacturer's problems were extremely HAPPY to have Mr. ** working on and accomplishing resolution of each and every problem. He went to every extreme he could to obtain a replacement cabinet at the shippers terminal out of state to facilitate our installation. He should be the Model for Home Depot Managers and we thank him profusely for his assistance!

We purchased cabinets through Home Depot. It took 3 weeks to get them delivered. Upon delivery 8 out of 12 cabinets damaged! They would not replace damaged items with new ones like we purchased! They would not contact us. We had to call multiple times a day to even get to talk to them. They told us the next shipment of just the door fronts could be damaged again. They can't guarantee anything! And that we have all the time in the world to sit day after day and wait for them to resolve the issues.
We finally called customer care to get involved and they also did nothing and we had to call them when they said they would call us back the next day with an answer... NEVER CALLED US! And when we called them no one had any idea of what was going on. The owner of the Waltham store then yelled at me to not contact them anymore (this is the owner and screaming at a guest in front of his 2 other employees that have also been very rude so I understand why the supervisor and other employees are mean and rude as well because their boss and owner leads by example!) and "we will all communicate through customer care," then hung up on me!
This has been the worst experience in my life with a company. I have never been treated this way! And they call us the rude couple! I'm not sure but I think if they went through what we went through they would be a little upset as well! Well thank you Home Depot for these awesome, damaged, tampered with cabinets. I hope they withstand a marble counter top, a 10-month old baby playing with them, and don't hurt anyone in the process of breaking!

We ordered some really nice Kraft Maid kitchen cabinets from Home Depot back in July. We emphasized that we wanted 15 inch deep, 42 inch high cabinets. We paid cash up front and the order was suppose to arrive in August. We were given the receipt for the order and we noticed when reviewing it that they did not order 15 inch, but the 12 inch standard size. My husband went back to the store and spoke to the "kitchen designer" that placed the order. He immediately cancelled it and re-ordered, but this caused the date for the cabinets to arrive to move out to September. He said that the cabinets would arrive and they would send someone to come out and inspect them, then they would install them.
Our cabinets did arrive on Sept. 9, but no one has inspected them. And after my husband made numerous calls to the store, we find out that the installer will not be able to get here until the 21st. Meanwhile, our garage is so full of cabinets that we can't get our car in. The guy who will be installing the countertop cannot be scheduled until the cabinets are in. I will never have Home Depot do any remodeling project for me again. They do not care how much money you spend on their cabinets, they are not responsive to the customer. They are sales clerks, not kitchen designers. I might as well have gone to a shoe store to order them. The product knowledge would be about the same. I am now so worried about the installation, especially after reading other reviews.

We were entitled to a refund of thousands of dollars and even though they agreed, I still have not received it. I have contacted them numerous times to no avail. Awful experience. Took almost 8 months for a 3 month job. We were remodeling our kitchen. The contractors they use are unprofessional and bad at their job. They ruined our wood floors, and scratched our new appliances. I actually installed security cameras in my home because the people they hired were so bad. Minimal drywall and their guy spent 7 days there. I will not shop there ever again and I recommend no one ever use them for a project. We are selling our house because we are so unhappy with the kitchen remodel. And they demand the full $20,000.00 up front. So they are in charge. Awful company. Awful management. Awful employees. We were contacted in our local Home Depot store and begged to set up an appointment for a "free, no obligation" quote for a kitchen cabinet refacing. Against my better judgement, I agreed. The salesperson showed up and gave us the options for a kitchen remodel which included cabinet refacing and countertops. Our counter tops were tile and we had been considering upgrading to granite. We were continually told of the fine quality product and workmanship and the "Power of the Home Depot" that guarantees complete customer satisfaction.
We came to an agreement and were told that in order to proceed, we would need to pick out a new sink in order for the fabricators to cut the granite and that we had 2 weeks to do this. We then met with the manager to set up times for someone to come and take all the measurements and to set an install date. We were also told that our job could probably be completed in one day and no more than two. We were also required to pay in full (told it was the law) before they could begin. The HDI rep came and took the measurements and made drawings of what was to be done. Our installation was to be 4 weeks later. We also went to the granite warehouse and picked out the slab we wanted to be used.
We found the sink we liked but ordering it through Home Depot, it would not arrive for 8 weeks. We decided to order the sink from another company and paid for expedited shipping. The sink arrived a week before the agreed install date. Somewhere during this time, after we had committed to the work and paid, we were told that HDI would only remove the old countertops and install the new ones. Any plumbing would have to either be done by me or I'd have to hire a plumber. That included reinstalling the disposal and hooking up the gas cooktop. Two days prior to install, we contacted HDI and asked what we needed to do to preparation and were told to basically empty the cabinets under the counters and we also needed to move furniture to create a clear pathway into the house and to the kitchen, which we did.
The morning of the install we waited. Around 9:30AM, we contacted HDI to inquire when the installers would arrive. It was then that we were told the sub-contractors doing the work had never been notified of the install and therefore would not be coming. We were then told they would look into it and get right back to us. Later that day, we got a call and were told that the sub-contractor would be sending out someone to take the "exact or final" measurements. Two days later, a representative from Duracite showed up and measured. He said it would probably be two weeks before they could return.
We replaced the items in our kitchen and moved the furniture back and waited two weeks. We also asked how we were going to be compensated for our inconvenience. HDI said they would make it up to us, but could not discuss it until the job was completed. We reminded them that they had already been paid in full.
The installers arrived as scheduled and began the demolition of our tile countertops. They brought in the first piece of granite and placed it and it looked really nice. When they brought in the second piece, they found it had been cut short. In reviewing the drawings, the measurements were correct, but the numbers entered into the cutting system were incorrect. This threw the rest of the job off and they had to stop work. We were told by Duracite that they may have enough left from our slab to recut that piece. They would let me know later that afternoon Wednesday. We had to call them and then we were told an e-mail would be sent with a virtual layout of the granite. We did NOT receive an e-mail.
Thursday we called Duracite and were told there was enough left from our slab and they would cut a new piece and that they would send the virtual layout via e-mail. After that, we heard nothing. We were also relaying this to HDI who said they would be on top of it. Finally on Friday, after not hearing anything, we called Duracite and were then told there was not a big enough piece left from our slab to make the cut and that they would try to "match" it. We said no and that we would pick out another slab. On our way out of town on vacation, we stopped by the warehouse and picked out another slab. We notified HDI what we had done and told them we'd be out of town and would like the installers to return the Monday after we returned.
While we were gone, we got a call letting us know the installers were at the house. We again said we wanted to be home when they came back. Upon returning home, a message from Duracite said since they had tried to return and do the work and we were not home, we would have to wait another week for them to return. All this time we have had no kitchen counters, sink, (kitchen water) or cooktop.
The following week, Duracite showed up (by the way, the actual installers were fantastic. No complaint at all with them.). I looked in the truck and noticed they appeared not to have all the pieces needed. I asked and was told that the company did not recut the job but were attempting a color match of the existing granite. When they put it in, it was pretty obvious that it was close, but not a match. We called and told them and we were told "Well, is it close enough that you'll take it?" After a conversation, it was decided that we would go back to the warehouse and pick out yet another slab and that they would cut the entire job from one slab so everything matched. We also included a "sister" slab just in case. The installers did leave the installed pieces in place so we could at least have counter space until they could return next week.
As of right now, we are waiting for this job to be completed. We have temporary counter space but no running water or cooktop. Any dishes we use, we have to wash in the bathroom sink. Not an ideal situation. I will update this upon eventual completion of the job and whether or not the "Power of the Home Depot" really worries whether or not their customers are satisfied.
Updated on 10/08/2015:
A week later Duracite arrived and removed the pieces of granite they had left for us to use. They brought in the new pieces of counter top and installed them. It looked very nice. Then, upon installing the piece that goes across the bar, they found it had been cut short as had one of the original pieces in July. The installer reviewed his notes and saw that he had indeed noted the correct measurement and that the piece needed to be cut to the new length. Aug 16 they returned with the correct piece and finished the job. It does look very nice. I told them I preferred not to sign off on the job until we had agreed with Home Depot on what compensation they were going to give us. The installers were fine with that and left.
I got a call from Home Depot Interiors customer service asking me if I accepted the job as complete. The rep was quite surprised when I told him I did not and why. He said he was unable to talk any further about it and I'd have to go through my local HDI manager. I talked to him and he kept trying to get me to sign off on the job before he would talk any compensation. I said "no I would not." He contacted me two weeks later and said the company had reviewed my case and could offer what came to about a 7 percent refund... after our being without a useable kitchen for 5 weeks. We refused.
A couple of weeks later HDI contacted us and offered less than we had requested, but what we were willing to settle for in order to avoid going to court. This was contingent upon Duracite returning and buffing out one seam that was a little rough. They had buffed out another seam very smoothly, so we thought this was a fair deal. HDI said they would like to have us sign off on the job and would email the paperwork. We then received a call from Duracite telling us they could not send anyone out for two weeks, today, Oct 8 between 8-10. I agreed.
The email with the adjusted price (change order) arrived from Home Depot with instructions to please sign and return it. I thought about it and then did not sign it. It's now 12:30 on Oct 8 and I have had no contact from Duracite. I will NEVER do business with HDI again and strongly caution anyone who may be considering doing business with them. The number ONE red flag that I ignored was: "We require payment in full before we will even start the job." NEVER pay upfront for contractor work. Any reputable contractor will accept payment as they go for the supplies they are using with payment in full due only when they have finished and you are satisfied with their work. As much as we do like the new granite, it will be a constant reminder of a headache that we didn't need and our horrible experience with HDI.

Do NOT ever order a kitchen from this company. We ordered our kitchen from Home Depot in January 2015. It is now nearly August and it is still not completed. First the countertops didn't fit - none of the white paint on the Kraftmaid cabinets matches. There are dents, dings, scrapes and bubbles paint. A custom made cabinet to fit refrigerator depth was not, has not, and apparently will not be made. Instead they have slapped two 2x4 on the wall, moved the cabinet out and call it done. Their crew, store manager, district manager, and a plethora of other people have been to our home numerous times as still they can't get it right. Upon seeing the damage and imperfections of the first cabinets they recorded several parts and pieces. They too came in damaged.
Now we are waiting on round four of replacement parts. We have been told they will not discuss compensation until the job is finished. Has anyone had success with getting a discount or a refund from Home Depot? Or from Kraftmaid? Please let us know. The quality of product, service, and lack of knowledge from this company has been horrible. We will never buy anything from them again. Ever.

The contractor that was to install was counter intelligence M S International was the supplier of the granite. We ordered a white with black specks, "Moon White." It was installed with a seam that we started seeing right away... the white also started to darken to a grey and has continued ever since... We went to the store to complain. The two girls in the kitchen and counter department all took our name and said someone would call us... nobody did. This was done several times over the course of several months. Finally a night manager named Jeff took our information and had someone contact us... "Kirk **" who came out in July and said the seam was not right and the color had changed significantly, took pictures and told us Home Depot would call us. They never did.
The installer is no longer working for Home Depot as an installer so they would do nothing about it. Went in to Home Depot again to say no one contacted us but we were told Mr. ** would call us... Mr ** office (install Cheryal) called and told us that we needed to contact MSI... and told us that Home Depot does not stand behind their product they sold us, nor the install, nor the fixing of the back install or the faded product, even though they took our money. Driver dumped the lot in the driveway and drove off. Now two months later, STILL DO NOT have all the cabinets. Have emailed and called to the point that I have to use different phone numbers or they don't answer. Have involved Home Depot, the Shipper (supposedly UPS) and HDC but no one takes responsibility. Each piece has been dropped off at random times weeks after they promise. They are terrible and the cabinets are shoddy. NEVER use them. Still waiting.

Reading the endless horror stories with Home Depot, mine pales somewhat, but remains from my vantage point an odyssey of staggering misery, testing the very limits of human frustration and rage. Synop: I ordered custom cabinets from Chelsea store in Manhattan. Everything seemed fine except some cabinet pieces didn't show up (panels to the dishwasher and fridge), some were just cut to the wrong size, and another few items came that clearly were not mine. It took 5 months to get the ordered filled. 5 long months of endless unanswered emails, voicemails, countless trips to the store where I would wait for hours at a time to meet with someone, anyone who might help me, only to be told, "we're working on it."
They did, in the end, finally deliver the pieces that I had ordered. 5 months later, well they delivered some of them. These pieces turned out to be crucial to installing the plumbing in the kitchen so I had to live without running water in the kitchen for almost half a year. There aren't many options if you live in New York City to order custom cabinets. Actual custom cabinet makers cost a fortune and sometimes Ikea prefab just doesn't fit the bill. Try to have your contractor build them for you, if you can negotiate a somewhat reasonable price. Home Depot does seem to get the job done eventually. But when it goes wrong with them.. it goes really, really, really wrong. Proceed with caution.

I had ordered an evaporative cooler on 06/10/15. It was delivered on 06/15/15. Because of the ineffective performance I returned the item the next day. The customer service representative was not able to find the purchase in their computer information because I had not been charged for the order yet, even though it had been delivered. The customer service rep spent quite a while on the phone attempting to resolve this issue. I suggested that, since I had not yet been charged for the item and was returning it, no charge would be posted to my debit card. I was finally informed that the item would be charged that day and then immediately credited to my account. I trusted this information and purchased groceries that afternoon. However, the charge appeared on my account the next day, causing an overdraft fee of $35 and making the money in my account unavailable.
I immediately contacted Home Depot, first by phone and then by email. I was told that it would take 7 to 10 days for a credit to appear in my account and that the information given to me at the store was incorrect. This issue has been ongoing since 06/16/15 with no effort by Home Depot to expedite the resolution of this problem, even though I have no money at this time because of the overdraft they caused. I was offered a $35 gift certificate to cover the overdraft fee but I explained that this would not help me purchase food. Our only income is provided by disability funds, so an amount like $35 is significant to us. Home Depot just reiterated their position, implying that I was never told about the immediate charge and credit to my account. I am now resorting to a complaint with Consumer Affairs and the Oregon Department of Justice. Thank you for being willing to accept this complaint.

In the spring when the sun was coming through a north facing window we noticed multiple scratches in the counter. We contacted Klein countertops as they were the installer but they had already replaced them right after installation when an obvious deep was seen upon job completion. So Klein/Home Depot denied the claim as this most current scratch was not found at installation. So either the milestone scratches VERY easily or the product was scratched at the factory. Either way Home Depot and Klein countertops in Utah did not honor any kind of warranty, replacement or reimbursement so I will never buy a product from either company again!

Home Depot Granite Kitchen Countertop Install - first of all, I will state the granite is of high quality and the color is exactly what was displayed in the store. It was installed in May, 2015 by Colonial Granite Company from King of Prussia, PA. First of all, I had to go to the store in person and have the HD sales rep call the granite company as I could not get them to call me regarding a template date. I did not leave the store until I had an appointment secured. That person did come in the allotted time. The installers came on time. They dry cut the sink in my kitchen and granite dust was on everything on the first floor. They damaged the electrical outlet and neglected to tell me. I did not have electricity on that side of the kitchen.
The newly painted and plastered wall was deeply scratched and needs patched. The door trim was not put back on correctly. The sink was not caulked and clipped. The backsplashes were not caulked. A side splash was missing. The countertops on each side of the stove were installed unevenly. They emptied the shop vac on my driveway. Two of the installers got into an argument and a neighbor heard the ruckus. Colonial Granite "no-showed" twice for appointments to correct the problems. I now have to pay a contractor to repair everything. The sales rep at HD is working with me, I have no problems with her so far. She said to submit a bill for payment. I will and see what happens.

On May 25 we hauled the items back to return and buy different, needed items for the kitchen remodel. To my surprise, the return was denied. The clerk and the store manager said they didn't know why and that their hands were tied to override the decision. They advised me to call the 800 number on the denial slip - a company name TRE (The Retail Equation).
This company rep told me I could not receive my money back because part of the transaction was paid for with a store credit. However, the amount I was returning was less than the amount I paid cash for. I read HD's return policy and there is nothing about this. I have to file a written complaint and send to TRC, and wait for up to 30 days for a decision. TRC says they do not know HD's policies, and HD says it's up to TRC. There is no corporate number to call. Frustrated. Any suggestions?

I placed a 50k (fifty thousand) dollars kitchen order from Home Depot. I relied on the designers, contractors, and managers to evaluate the drawing according to my appliances, and the contractor's measurements. Afterwards, I went to another experienced kitchen designer to evaluate the drawing. To my dismay, he noticed, the sink cabinet was too small for the complimentary sink!!! I was surprised, the managers, the designer, and the contractors were wrong!!!
I returned to Home Depot to revise the drawing before the contractor started the job (which is only "one person", from DK Construction Inc. installing the cabinets). I explained to the manager the sink cabinet was too small for the complimentary sink. All the managers, **, ** were surprised and told me to wait for the designer **, to come back to correct this problem. The cabinets were paid and ordered already. They placed the second order.
After two days of the installation, I noticed that the cabinet I chose in the drawings were not correct. It was too small for the soffit. They told me not to changed it and leave it alone that it won't look right, and for me to cut the soffit. **, supervisor, for the job, told me to cut the soffit to fit the cabinet. I insisted, I wanted to see the revised drawing with the cabinet covering the soffit. The supervisor replied, "we deleted that drawing". Currently, the guy left the unfinished kitchen, as per **'s order. Because the third mistake!!! The first mistake was the measurements of the kitchen. Every measurements were wrong. Please help me. I need your assistance in this matter. I need my kitchen to be finished, so I can eat at home. Currently, the kitchen was left unfinished - after one person working for three days from 12-4pm. Please noticed the job is only to install the cabinets. I figured, paying more money was worth it to get professional work. I was wrong!!! Just to install the cabinets is $13,262.00 - for only one person, (**).
Updated 6/25/2015 - Home Depot ordered, designed, and installed my kitchen cabinets. I paid over 40K. The entire order was ordered the wrong size and the wrong color. All the cabinets were ordered too small. The contractor tried to fit everything the best that he could. However, the gap were so big in between the cabinets, they couldn't hide the mistakes. All the handles were hitting each other when the cabinets opened. All the cabinets were not aligned. I returned some cabinets and the contractor signed his name. When I arrived to the store to get my refund, two supervisor told me they will give me my refund if I sign a waiver to release them from any responsibilities. Finally, they agreed to compensate me 1K dollars and they left the job site unfinished since they couldn't handle the job. I've been through so much aggravation with Home Depot. I DON'T WISH THIS TO NO ONE.

They also said that the cabinet should have been anchored to a soffit or another cabinet... But Home Depot did the design, selection and installation of that cabinet and either didn't know that detail or neglected to say anything. Bottom line... We desperately need help dealing with Home Depot and specifically the Pontiac MI store. About 6 weeks ago, after saving our money for a very long time, we needed to get new kitchen counters. We are not republicans so we can only order the basic white cheap counters. We have a very simple layout for our kitchen with a U shape square counter that requires 3 straight pieces of counter joined together. We went in and ordered this and had to agree to take off our old one. We were told the company they contract this out to would call us to come get measurements.
While we were waiting we realized that all of the cabinets were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. Again we went in but could only order the lower cabinets. Again basic cheap white design. Nothing fancy because again we are on a very limited budget. But the cabinets from 1987 were falling apart and could no longer be held together. We were told it would be a week to 10 days to order. Our counter top is on hold until we have the new lower cabinets in place. 2 weeks later we got a call, the cabinets were in but 2 of them were broken and had to be reordered which ended up taking another 10 plus days to get in. For all of our inconvenience and troubles, I asked if they would deliver them at their expense. They reluctantly agreed.
Some background is in order here. I am retired from the federal government and a fully disabled veteran. Due to pension cuts by our loving Congress, I was forced to get another job after retiring, otherwise we would be on the all Alpo diet. My wife cannot work and recently went through hip replacement surgery and needs to get the other hip done as soon as possible. Neither one of us are spring chickens and I try to do as much stuff as I can to fix our home. Replacing and installing cabinets and counter tops is something out of my job description.
We could not afford to pay Home Depot to install the cabinets so I used a friend who does construction. He agreed to do it for less than half of what they were going to charge me. The replacement cabinets finally came in and were delivered to the home but the delivery contractor stated they were to be placed at the end of the driveway only after they arrived. Again I had to call Home Depot from work (clocking out for an hour to argue with the Pontiac store again and finally had to call customer complaints in Atlanta to get them put in the home). Again the nightmare is dealing with the manager at the Pontiac store.
So we scheduled our install person to come in to destroy the old cabinets and counter top so he could put these in (he could do all in 1 day) and then the counter people would come out, measure the dimensions and be back quickly to put in the top so we can use our kitchen. After the old top and cabinets were destroyed, we had no kitchen sink, or dishwasher, and could not cook unless we did our dishes in the bathtub. He got most installed but then saw where one of the end ones (cabinets) was damaged and totally unacceptable. I was charged $150.00 for what got done. Again an argument involving the Pontiac management ensued again and they stated it would be another 2 weeks until the replacement could be reordered and come in. This again was totally unacceptable for them to rely on suppliers and contractors.
My install person and I determined where the damaged one was marred, could be hidden by the dishwasher and reinforced from the inside with a large piece of wood. At this point we were without a working kitchen and either ate out of used disposable plates while cooking in the microwave (over the stove). Our kitchen is destroyed and everything piled in the dining area and living room. Our entire home is wrecked waiting on Home Depot. I told them at the Pontiac store I could not wait any further. They agree to give me the damaged cabinet for free. So I had to pay my install guy again to come back out and install the damaged piece. Because I was not our another $150.00 to him I also had him do other things I may have been able to do myself depending on my health condition whenever I got home late at night.
So now I am out about $500.00 total to my installation person and the counter top people came out to measure to get us a working kitchen. Bombshell number 3 hit. They told us it will be 2 plus weeks to make a simple 3 piece cheap simple white counter top and 2 plus weeks without a sink or dishwasher. I hit the roof again because I was never told the wait would be this long. I saw tops in the store and simply assumed they were pulled out, cut and installed from stock. I was never told it would take 2 weeks. If the sales person did mention it, I obviously did not catch it because I would have gone elsewhere especially in light of the cabinet snafu and the entire attitude taken by the Pontiac management.
More background here. The cabinets we ordered go on sale all the time for 20% off according to our sales person. On top of that they gave me a 10% disabled veteran (military discount). Once all of this is done, we will need to replace the upper cabinets so they match. After all the nightmarish hell we have been through I asked the manager/management team of the Pontiac store for a 40% discount on getting the uppers and have them do a free measurement. I would be responsible for the installation at my own expense. I needed another 7 cabinets. They were non-committal on that but they sent out a measurement person (at their expense of $69.00), and measured what we will need.
Yesterday my wife called and stated after I got off from work I had to stop at the Pontiac store to order and pay for the upper cabinets. We still do not have a counter top and their contractor put a rush and stated kit will be after 4-24 before they would be available. The store did not tell her if the manager agreed to my reasonable request for 40% off the uppers.
More background. I am a loyal Home Depot customer having spent about $15,000 to $20,000 with them over the past 3 years. They can verify this where I am deep into debt on their charge card and my paypal account. I have NEVER had any problems or issues which is why I continue shopping there. Last weekend alone I spent another $460.00 between mulch and a new fancy grill and accessories.
I went to the Pontiac store after getting off of work late. I was tired and the person who wanted my money and signature gave me the bombshell. The store manager determined for all the hell I have been through, I am only entitled to a 15% discount. I was floored with this insult to my intelligence. It is obvious they do not appreciate my money or me with this. As usual the manager was not in. I had to place my third complaint with their Atlanta office and was livid. They told me in order to get the district managers name and number I had to go back to the service desk while I was describing my problem with the headquarters team.
I was not a pleasant person at this point and the customer service person did not know how to get a hold of the district manager. I was vocal over the hell and insults I have been through and then to only be offered 15% when they go on sale for 20% off regularly (plus my 10% military) was insulting and the equivalent of this stores management spitting in my face.
By the time I got hop I was beyond livid. There was no dinner except cold leftovers but I was not hungry after all of this. The manager of the store called me and that is where everything totally broke down. I told him point blank how I was insulted. He proceeded to blame me because he knows his salesperson would have told me of the 2 week wait and it was in the fine print of the contract. Further they cannot control what their suppliers sent them. Again buck passing. He further argued I was lucky to get the 15% and my military could not be combined with this. There was also no guarantees these would not be damaged as well and he was non-committal on deliveries into the home.
I have been on their customer care network and have even tried to get a hold of Craig Menear, the president of the company and a native of flint and MSU. He sits in a royal palace and no one can approach him short of being god himself. When I told the manager I will be returning the existing cabinets and cancelling my counter order, he stated he will refuse to do either. This is heading to small claims court and this big mega company does not care. In the mean time I owe over $2,000 on my charge card and am out $550.00 in labor costs.

I spent $24,600 on a reface/new install for kitchen back in 2012. I have a very obvious flaw that was initially created by the measurement person. I believe the install company did according to this guy's plans. After completion, I contacted install company; realizing I got screwed with low quality material. He thought it was great! I had major concerns. All my newly installed floor to ceiling cabinets have the cheapest drawer slides. So poor of a performance that 4 out of 8 are broken within 1 - 1.5 yrs - all the while having minimal weight on shelves for that reason! The drawer slides on almost every 6" X 4" drawer are cheap - again not a lot of weight. One of the base cabinet refaced surfaces is constantly in need of repositioning even though there is nothing hitting it to cause this. Another corner piece falls off constantly.
However, here is my main gripe... Before a year warranty expiration, I contacted the person who did my actual installation (per him). I addressed my concern about an improper replacement & was told there was nothing he could do. I believed this; being deceived because one "is not in the field" is never acceptable. After all, isn't this is why one hires a reputable company? Unfortunately, 2+ years later (hence this complaint) I went to a friend's house who had two separate cabinets refaced & expanded into one large with slide out shelves (same type as my issue). $300 out of pocket hers is seamlessly (literally) flawless & mine looks terrible with a constant gap.
In the grand scheme of things, my kitchen looks decent. HOWEVER, THE JOB IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE $24,600??? I would never relive with pride the price we paid!!! I would look the fool! Basically what I paid for was the commissions to sale person/designer, measurement person, company who employs the installer & then the installer. I know for a fact installer got $2400 commission; so I can only assume what my kitchen actually cost ($10,000 after considering all the other commissions?) You might question a warranty with a no-name but after a year you've got nothing anyway. In the past, after paying $24,600 premium quality & workmanship was guaranteed. May as well save your money. HOME DEPOT doesn't stand by their name after a year & relies on a consumer's ignorance of the job.
Why I didn't have a redo from this disaster??? One can't take time off work/ life to be available for contractors for another extended week+ of time, having no kitchen for two weeks w/ family of 6 etc.....

My first encounter in the countertop department at the Home Depot in Lubbock Texas on 2615 50th St should have been a precursor to the events ahead. After 45 mins of the employee "trying" to order the countertop I preferred, he told me to come back tomorrow since he couldn't figure out how to place an order. I thought this was strange to turn away a customer and asked if anyone else could help me. He told me no and the best thing to do would be to come back the next day. Finding this unusual I then ask for the manager at the customer service desk and ** appeared and assisted me with my order.
Because the order was a custom made laminate ** informed me that their installer would come out and measure for the price of $99. After being there over an hour and getting the run around, I voiced my complaint as I had my measurements in hand done by my installer of choice. ** did give me a slight discount for their installer to come measure since it was a custom order and I did not want any mistakes or discretion by not using their contractor.
The installer came and measured in a reasonable time and the order was placed. I received a call about two weeks later my counter was ready. I noticed immediately that the sink was not perforated as promised by the contracted installer ** for RFI installations but decided we could manage. Once we get the countertop home we attempted to adhere the two pieces together (we knew this was going to be needed) as I have a "L" shaped countertop. I hired an experienced installer and this was done prior to laying the countertop. Quickly in attempt to lay the countertop we realized that the measurements were off 2 in's one way and a quarter inch another way. The length discrepancy caused a major problem. Countertop would not lay correctly and was difficult to maneuver since it was too long from two different directions which then caused a problem with me placing my stove into its spot. So at this point I have no sink and no stove.
I call Home Depot immediately and talk to the manager on duty who apologized and said with it being on the weekend they could do nothing. I ask if we should remove the countertop and return it or if they would send someone out to look at it. She said she would get back to me on Monday. I leave it in place so that they could see exactly what the problem was and to avoid any chance of damaging the countertop. Monday rolls around and I hear nothing so after several phone calls I finally hear that they are sending their contractor out to assess. The contractor comes and confirms the countertop was cut incorrectly and he voiced how the countertop was cut poorly and confirmed that it was wrong and I was entitled to a solution. The next day I call Home Depot several times again for a resolution. I still have no sink or stove and no plan at this point (this is day three).
Home Depot calls (day 5)and says they are sending two guys to pick up the countertop and they will be there at 5pm. I ask about a future discount on installation for my inconveniences and their mistakes and ** agrees he will "look at the numbers and let me know". I decided to use their contractor for the future so that if there is a mistake I might can get this resolved quicker. At 6:30 pm 2 gentlemen show up (after calling and asking me what tools they need to bring. Shouldn't they know this??) and ironically one of them is the guy from the store that attempted to take my order on day one and couldn't and told me to come back the next day. These two gentleman clearly did not know what they were doing. I ask them how often they have removed countertops and they both said never.
After three trips to the store and an hour later they decide the countertop can not be pulled without damaging it and that they will saw it out. I ask them to clarify with their manager that this is ok as this would change the original plan of trying to save this countertop and a whole new countertop would need to be cut. They confirm with their manager and then cut it out. They did lay my old one back on (did not bracket just literally lay on) in the meantime but not without much difficulty and a chunk of wood off of my cabinet. I ask them why Home Depot sent them instead of the installer and they told me Home Depot did not want to pay "more" for an installer to come. Frustrated I told them that before we proceeded any further with a new order I needed to talk to a manager about some sort of resolution and compensation for the errors and my inconvenience.
The next day (It is Thursday, now 6 days later) I get a call from their manager stating that they would recut the countertop, but since they are having to redo the whole thing now (since the two guys they sent cut it out) I would no longer be getting any discount on later installment. So basically saying I was only entitled to the countertop I had already paid for 6 weeks ago and NOTHING for the errors in measurement, making of the countertop, 5 days with no sink or stove, and dealing with incompetence. ** then insinuated that the countertop was adhered incorrectly by my installer which blew me away since the two guys that came out removed brackets and yanked and pulled on the countertop.
How could he make a judgment based on a countertop that had been manipulated so much in the "return" process. I then ask to speak to the district manager. I was given a number which I called and no answer. I called corporate and complained to their customer service who at this point will review and get back to me in 24-48 hours. I have no countertop and Home Depot has my money. DO NOT USE! POOR RESOLUTION. PROBLEM SOLVING AND COMPETENCY.

I purchased my new home and it needed a kitchen upgrade in which it was the first thing I wanted done because I am a mother of three and spend most of my time in this area of the house. I loved the color (Sharkey Gray) and the modern feel of Martha Stewart Cabinetry so I went for it. Very affordable, Home Depot was great as far as the ordering process and the install process. But within two months I noticed a drawer with a weird marking that was not there before. Then I started noticing gapping from the seams to the point that the top door got so bad if you opened it the wrong way it could fall on you (which on two different occasions it almost did) so I contacted the installer and he came right out.
He stated there was nothing he could do because per his expertise it was a defect but he would reach out to HD and have a rep be in touch. The rep from MS came out within a reasonable time and stated they were indeed defective and he would have all the doors/drawers replaced. Two months later and I keep getting calls (three to be exact) today being the most recent, from HD that Martha Stewart has been having issues with the quality of the manufacturer's production. It's now to the point that more doors are beginning to fall apart in your hands as you open them. I see a potential liability coming soon if something does happen to anyone of my family members and or guests who decide to open one up and it falling on them causing an injury. I have been way more than patient at this point and I am awaiting a call back from HD because my patience has run its course.

The Fabricator did not provide me with the measurements (total sq ft). I called Keys Granite on Monday February 9th to schedule my review of the slab. I was then informed that the Granite I ordered is not in stock. It was further stated that they will be shipping one slab from Orlando and another slab from Miami. Keys Granite asked me for the total square feet and I gave them my “rough” calculation of 62 square feet. This question clearly indicates that there is no communications between the materials provider and the Fabricator. The measurements were not given to Keys Granite.
I asked when the slabs will be delivered in Boynton Beach for inspection and I was told by the young lady that they will be delivered on Wednesday February 11th. When I called on Wednesday 2/11 to schedule inspection of the slab, I was informed that the slabs will not be delivered until Friday 2/13. On Wednesday 2/11, the Fabricator called to determine when I will be inspecting the slab and I informed them that I am awaiting delivery of the slab to Keys Granite. They also informed me that the total square feet I need would be 72, which I knew was impossible based on my measurements. If I was unable to calculate square footage, I would have ended up paying for 72 square feet.
On Friday 2/13, I called Keys Granite - confirmed that 1 slab was delivered from Miami. I went to Keys Granite on 2/13, inspected and approved the slab. I then asked the Keys Granite employee when the slab will be delivered to the Fabricator. I was informed that they make deliveries on Mondays and Wednesdays. I said “Great, could we deliver the slab on Monday 2/16?” I was told that the earliest the slab could be delivered to the fabricator would be Wednesday 2/18, because they need a Purchase Order from the fabricator prior to shipping. The end result, it appears that the slab will be delivered on Wednesday 2/18 and then the fabricator will have another story about 1) how long it takes to complete their work and 2) how long it will take for the installation.
During this entire ordeal, I have to purchase meals every day and deal with the resulting frustrations. If I was informed that the process will take this long, I would have kept the old sink and have it installed temporarily so that I could prepare the necessary meals. My experience outlined above clearly indicates that Home Depot does not have communication and control protocols in place to ensure that the providers are supplying the required level of customer service. Today, 2/18/15, Home Depot informed me that the Fabricator will take an additional 10 business days.

I would never recommend Home Depot in Northville, MI for kitchen counter tops. Initially, Home Depot forgot to give me the 10% discount on the counter tops (I had to find the error and have them correct it). The assistant store manager acted like he was doing me a favor to correct it and the manager said "okay, what do you want." He was implying that I wanted a discount or money back. Home Depot charges an arm and a leg for everything that is done. They subcontract with Granite Creations in Novi, MI. They installed granite that did match up at the seams in terms of coloration. This whole process has been going on for 2 months now. I have had to direct this entire process. Take my advice and go with a private contractor who backs up their work. I had granite installed in my previous residence without any of these complications. My advice is to Never Use Home Depot or Granite Creations. Schedule these services with a professional.

I have had the worse experience with HD contractors. Going on the third backsplash, unprofessional and so very expensive. Only two options of tile, no space in warehouse. Countertop had a cosmetic error on the cut and they still installed. Big gap between cabinet and counter top. Just going in circles.

One of my biggest regrets as a consumer. The kitchen redesign process was painful at every stage and Home Depot clearly show a severe lack of care for their customers, even those who spend tens of thousands of Pounds with them. Throughout, there is a clear issue of setting false expectations and being poor at proactively or reactively rectifying problems.
It started off actually fine when an initial meeting was arranged with a Kitchen Designer to discuss some ideas, and we were pleased with some of those ideas that were laid out. But then the trouble started. We paid this initial $100, was told that somebody would call within a week to come and measure the current kitchen layout - that call didn't happen. I had to run around the houses calling Home Depot and their local contractor who was supposed to come to take measurements to schedule this - it was a hassle.
When the contractor arrived he offered little help in terms of advice about making changes to structural elements, such as opening up a wall etc. This was despite the kitchen designer saying that the contractor would be able to offer this advice. He refused saying he wasn't supposed to do this, and suggested I pick up a local Spanish contractor outside Home Depot one Sunday morning to come and make a few holes and take a look to see which walls might be OK to remove - unbelievable!
Following this, there were several other frustrations with us showing up at Home Depot for meetings with our designer only for him to not be there, hence wasting our evening and ruining plans. We really didn't even get an explanation or apology, other than "He's not here".
In hindsight, we should have walked away here but through naivety or whatever else, we placed an order for the cabinets and assumed that surely the painful part was over and all we needed to then do was wait for the cabinets to be delivered so our self-selected contractor could install them. We were told we would get a call within a few weeks to confirm delivery slot. I waited 4 weeks and no call, so I called the Home Depot store directly to ask what was going on. I was told that department must be busy - nothing more! Very helpful indeed (sarcasm).
Eventually I was told the cupboards could be delivered the few days before Christmas (6 weeks after paying for them) which was quite useless as who installs a new kitchen between Christmas and New Year? I was hoping the entire thing would be completed before Christmas. So, work started in January. In opening the boxes, we have found cracks or scuffs on 3 of the cupboards - I really can't bear more delays with Home Depot so wrote to them explaining that my contractor will repair them, but I just want some compensation in some way... Still waiting to hear back from them! Maybe my kitchen will be completed before NEXT Christmas!

DON'T SHOP AT HOME DEPOT IF YOU WANT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A QUALITY PRODUCT!!!! On November 17, 2014 my granite counter-top that I purchased from Home Depot, Casper, WY and was being installed by CTI out of Aurora CO was to be installed. I was told by CTI that I would be first on the list and the installers should arrive around 11 a.m. I called several times all afternoon trying to find out where they were. I was being told that they will be there in 45 minutes. Finally arrived at 5 p.m. to begin the install. I let them into my home because I wanted the counter installed for Thanksgiving. Less than an hour into the install, they asked where my under-counter sink was. I told them that it had been picked up and taken to their shop so the opening in the granite could be cut correctly. They insisted they did not have it. I jumped in by car and drove 60 miles round trip to get a sink from Home Depot for them to install.
They did the install and a short time before they left, around 9:30 p.m., they told me they had found the sink in their truck. When they left, there was their garbage in the middle of my living room and the second sink for me to deal with. When I looked over counter I discovered the seams were not smooth and that they had knocked holes in my Sheetrock under the counter. They had pushed my dishwasher back and it wasn't until I pulled it out to connect it that I discovered the holes. They also used white silicone on the black counter top. I let Home Depot and CTI know the issues. CTI scheduled the crew to correct the problems. I stayed home for work all that day and even let them know the installers never showed.
The installers called me the next day at 4:30 p.m to let me know that they would be going past my house at 7 that night and they could stop then to do the repairs. I told them I already had an appointment that night. They told me they didn't know when they could make it back. I contacted Home Depot and CTI again. Another appointment was made -- another day missed from work. The installers arrived tried to fix the problem with the seam with epoxy. Didn't work. They did not look at any of the other issues. When I asked where we need to go from here, they shrugged their shoulders and left. I contacted Home Depot again. They sent another company to look at the seam issue and the repair person told me that he would not touch it because there was a very good chance he could make the problem worse.
Home Depot contacted me and said that I needed to let CTI (the original installer) come try one more time to fix it. I said no, that I just wanted the installation cost refunded and I would find some one else to fix it. They told me if I didn't let CTI try that they didn't think they could work anything else out for me. Still haven't fixed the hole in the wall. I reached out to the corporate office again. I had been letting them know what was happening all along. To sum up this long ordeal, they offered me $100 to fix the wall and $370 for all of my inconveniences. Have not accepted the offer and still have the seam in the granite and the hole in my wall. DON'T SHOP AT HOME DEPOT IF YOU WANT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND QUALITY PRODUCT!!!

We thought, working with HD instead of a random contractor is best, since i'ts HD a big company, even though its more money, Hey, they'll do a better job, and faster. WRONG. Paid for kitchen in July 4, '14, and worst mistake I've ever made. They think it was "100 %" complete on Dec.14. Throughout this whole time range, wrong items, were ordered, many items once installed were damaged, making us wait more time. Spend many many hours on the phone, trying to figure out who will fix what, from what THEY damaged, trying to wash their hands with it. Ordered same items multiple times because of damage. Kitchen was not measured correctly, leaving me with a tiny stick on one side of my fridge, and about 3-4 inches of fillers in the entry of my kitchen that are "suppose" to be there. We recently had a meeting with management, and was offered 250 miserable dollars for these 6 months of horrible events. And according to them we are wrong, everything is perfect and dandy. Between cabinets, install, counter, and appliances, I spent close to $14,000 at my local Home Depot. The project has been riddled with delays due to lack of communication on behalf of the store, the install company and their contractors. I purchased my cabinets at the beginning of October 2014. They were delivered approximately 4 weeks later. No one told me they were coming. I received a call from the freight company the night before to schedule the delivery. You would think HD would contact you to let you know the cabinets were shipping from the manufacturer. That would make sense because you could plan to receive them and to schedule your install!
Anyway, I received the cabinets on a Thursday morning and immediately called the install company for an appointment, since they refuse to schedule before you have the product. The install company ignored my calls for 3 days!!! When they finally contacted me back, I was given an install date 3 weeks out! I was pretty mad, to say the least. The cabinets were in my detached garage and I live in the NE and a huge storm was coming. I contacted HD and luckily they sent over 2 store associates that moved the cabinets into my home. Had they not moved the cabinets inside my house, they surely would have been damaged due to cold and moisture. After the storm hit, I had to contact the install company to confirm the appointment. As I suspected, and which is what prompted my call, they had to push the date out one day.
A week later, the install day finally arrived. Due to my work schedule, I told them I was only available until 2pm. The contractor showed up at 9am and ended work at 2pm. He was not done with the install - he had completed about 1/2 the cabinet install. I told him I could get a family member to come over so he could finish, but he said he was booked for another job after already. I asked if he'd be back the next day and he said he wasn't scheduled to come back at all! Mind you, I had my appliance delivery and my counter install measure scheduled based on this cabinet install. I was furious at this point. To make matters worse, the store didn't order a trim part, so the crown molding couldn't be completed that day anyway.
I called the store and complained to whomever would listen. The manager said she'd get back to me, but she did not. Instead, the install company called me the next morning and told me the contractor would be back that Friday. I specifically asked on the phone, "TO FINISH THE JOB?" and they replied yes. Now, I knew they couldn't finish the crown molding, but I expected all cabinets installed, all kick molding and toe kick installed as well as handles. The contractor showed up Friday and stayed approximately 1.5 hours. He didn't finish the job at all. He put up the rest of the cabinets and then left. No molding, no handles, nothing! Again, I called HD in frustration! Again, they were of ZERO help. It's like once you order cabinets from them, they don't want to hear from you ever again! It's horrible customer service!
At this point, I'm still waiting for the trim piece. I was told it wasn't even ordered until a week after the first install date... Again, lack of communication between install company and HD. My kitchen remains unfinished. I'm told the install company won't schedule an appointment until I have that part. I think that's totally unfair, since they're running 3 weeks behind on their appointments. The cabinets are beautiful and seem to be crafted very well. I didn't have any problem with the designer, except that he forgot to order the trim piece. The contractor has actually done a nice job installing the cabinets. At this time, I haven't had any issues with the counter top people. They've been extremely nice, rescheduling the appointment twice due to HD delays. Unfortunately, the counter top I ordered is on back order until Mid-January. Which is surprising to me, since I paid for it in October...
The experience as a whole has been extremely disappointing and I would never, ever recommend anyone purchase their kitchen through Home Depot. I truly wish I had gone with the local big kitchen cabinet company. They were a little more expensive, but my mom used them last year and she had a great experience from start to finish. You'd think when someone spends $14,000 in your store, they'd get better customer service... some kind of communication. I've gotten NOTHING from HD. I really wish I would have saw this site BEFORE I started my project with HD because it seems like there's nothing but bad reviews for their services!

I ordered cabinets in September 2014. Received cabinets Oct 2014. Started on cabinets Oct 22, 2014. My kitchen is ruined. The so called kitchen designer had to change the plans 3 times during the ordering because of mistakes. And each time it cost me more money. She would forget to put the microwave in ,etc. In fact the day that the cabinet workers got here she called and realized another mistake. Well that day I heard all day long another mistake, another mistake and so on. I cried. I was so worn out. The cabinet maker rearranged some of the cabinets. But she went on over onto the dining area, which when I walked back into the kitchen, I saw that I couldn't get my Cherry Hutch back into the kitchen. I will be only to barely get the kitchen table back in. She also covered up the floor vent.
Then the flooring guys from Romanoffs Flooring out of Knoxville Tn, they came and covered the other floor vent up. And did a terrible job. I complained and they came back with more promises. But more mistakes were made. and the lying is terrible. The cabinets were moved around twice. Could not get the pantry door opened. What a mess. And the pantry cabinet came apart at the bottom. And these were Kraftmaid. I paid extra to have a refrigerator cabinet. Well that had to be taken out. Enough room wasn't allowed. They asked what they could do to make me happy. I said build me a Hutch and they wanted to charge me 2,800.00. I just lost a 3,000 cabinet. Stay away from Home Depot.

Home Depot's salesmen came to our house and sold us on a proposed Kitchen upgrade using Home Depot cabinet refacing using Home Depot "bonded and insured" master craftsmen. What we got was an "installer" that had trouble lining cabinets up, allowed water to leak from our disconnected sink into our basement, and who built sub par drawers that don't function as well as the ones they replace. The replacement sink thrown in as a bonus is much smaller than the sink they disposed of and the granite countertop does not fit correctly around the new sink. We found Kitchen remodeling is exhausting (2nd time) so went to Home Depot expecting to pay more but get satisfaction that you might not from a contractor. There were some good but also not so good experiences with them. On the good side the HD "designer" was helpful in choosing cabinets, getting discounts & patient with our slow decision making. He put together a cabinet design that he liked BUT he took certain liberties we did not like such as putting 2 smaller cabinets where 1 large one would be more efficient. We wanted a cutting board drawer but he didn't know it existed so we needed to show him in the brochure!
We went with their Woodmark brand which are beautiful. There have been problems though with drawers coming off the sliders. I had to have the cabinet guy come 3 times and am waiting for a response again as another drawer is off the slider. I gave up and shimmed it myself. We also have a corner sink which causes cabinets to hit one another. I asked for a strap or wire to prevent the doors from opening all the way but the designer said that was my responsibility. However, when the cabinet guy came, he installed a wire kit to achieve what was needed.
Home Depot hires big contracting companies to do the work but in my case the contractor was warring with the designer making things unpleasant. Basically, the contractor gives you their estimated price for installation like any contractor would but again, dealing with HD should provide leverage for them to make sure the customer is satisfied. Generally I was and the installer did a great job. He even save me about $1K by leaving the prior floor mud in place for installing the new porcelain floor.
This is an abbreviated account as other things went wrong. For instance, the corner base cabinet would not fit through doors so had to be cut up. The installer blamed the designer & vice-versa. I insisted on receiving a partial refund since I only got the cabinet face & floor as both sides were cut away. It was a $600 cabinet and they gave me back about $200. All in all, it's a beautiful but the experience was far from delightful.

And they will not answer or return our calls. Inconsistent staff--don't believe we've ever seen the same contractor twice--and each seems unorganized but ridicules the work the previous ones have done.
If we had just read all the negative comments on their own Facebook posts alone we would have gone elsewhere but if you look online, the reviews for their work nationwide are consistently horrible and echo everything we have so far run into. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am forced to purchase kitchen cabinets. I have been to Lowes, Just Cabinets, Red Rose Kitchens, and looked at others through contractor display sites, such as Wolf's cabinets and Custom Wood Products in addition to getting a quote from a cabinet maker. Lowes and Just Cabinets were very close in price regarding the brand they quoted, that being Kraftmaid. That price being $4600, on a 170 per linear ft cabinet selection.
My present circumstances require me to look further at a less expensive offering so I went back to Lowes and asked the designer to price me on the Shenandoah line, which she told me would cost the same thing. The cabinet I picked out was 117 per linear foot and she was adamant the price would indeed be the same. 170 vs 117 seems different to me, but knowing Kraftmaid gives incentives and Lowes and Just Cabinets work on commission, I scratched them off my list. Giving it one more try, I went to a different Lowes just for curiosity and had them price the cheaper line. 117 per linear foot and sure enough, came out within 100 bucks of the Kraftmaid 170 per linear foot with all the same options.
Today, I decided to try Home Depot and I must say, I was impressed with the designer and his pricing on Martha Stewart cabinetry. Because of some upcoming specials, he refused to take my monies until next week, which I most likely will give back in trade for plywood construction. For now, that is all I have to comment about. Long story longer... a salesman came out and informed me HD ONLY did refacing of cabinets, no new cabinets. All I really wanted was a new quartz countertop. I should have stopped him at the get go. He made his crude drawing of my small kitchen (23 doors to reface) and gave me a number $19,000. That included a granite countertop. I had to laugh. A WHOLE SLAB of granite (but I wanted quartz) will only cost $1,000. And 23 plastic cupboard door costing $14,000 is HD nuts??? Do they really think consumers are that stupid???
The high point of my salesperson's pitch was our "family" discount of $1,500. But I WOULD HAVE TO SIGN TODAY TO GET THE DISCOUNT! I mean really now, who's running HD that they think this scare tactic works. And what the ** is a "family" discount? Such tackiness from this creep. I was starting to itch. I was told by the original store rep who first signed me up for this nightmare that we would get to get the estimate, drawings, and measurements. Well when we finally creepo the boot he said all his "work" belonged to HD and he let me write down his price of $19,000 on a nearby newspaper. That is ALL that I got to "keep" from precious creepos "work."
Let me also add that creepo was in our home from 12:30- 4:30. Yes, 4 ** wasted hours of our time. After reading ALL the complaints on this site and many other HD complaint sites, WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE GIVEN CREEPO THE BOOT NOT TO HAVE TO ENDURE ALL THE HEADACHES THAT PRIOR HD CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD TO ENDURE. So when you're in HD for that light bulb or bug spray (don't buy anything else there), RUN FAST WHEN THE KITCHEN REP ACCOSTS YOU WITH A FREE IN HOME ESTIMATE!!! It's an ** waste of your time and money (23 plastic doors for $14,000???). My head is still spinning.

The guy who came out to do the template of our kitchen was very condescending to my wife. We had installed new cabinets that were not aligned to existing ones. Rather than providing a solution, his essential complaint was that we wasted his time for the template. We went back and filed a complaint on this incident and canceled the order. When I called the Home Depot store manager to complain about other issues, she apologized and admitted that she had received complaints on the specific contractor. Nothing further was heard on this.

We have been dealing with Home Depot for 6 weeks now. We were selecting a higher quality cabinetry with granite counters. Well the price was over 20k so we decided to look for a cheaper cabinet only to find out the glass didn't come with these cupboards and the granite was actually marble and does not come sealed. But we can have it sealed for a price. We were frustrated again with the design and island size. They really don't seem to have the expertise. The lady helping us told us she was learning. I really don't want someone who is learning. So now we are going to a kitchen specialist. I just can't spend a lot of money and not really know what I'm getting. The 12 months no interest sounds good, but I have my doubts. I've heard people being charged a minimal fee. I just don't feel confident dealing with Home Depot for my kitchen. It all sounds good, but it's expensive.

We hired Home Depot to do a custom kitchen. We got new cabinets, countertops, sink, microwave, and hood. Every step was a disaster. It was as though they had never designed or installed a kitchen before. With a baby on the way, we had a time crunch. Two weeks in, we learned our order had been "On Hold" for no known reason. Apologies were minimal. I left 2 messages for the supervisor and never received a call back. We received different measurements from different staff regarding how big our sink, hood, and microwave could be. Despite too much effort to obtain an accurate measurement, neither the hood or the microwave fit when attempted to be installed.
"Plan B" for the microwave left a blank spot in the kitchen is too high to see into (I am 5'5" aka average height woman). Several cabinets came in wrong and needed to be reordered. Several decorative pieces came raw/unfinished and needed reordered. The contractor needed to take down and re-install cabinets several times. The wall was ruined in the process and refinished sub-par. Caulking needed redone twice and my husband and I are still planning on cutting out the contractor's work and re-doing this ourselves (which we have never done before but can't look worse).
We spent endless hours in Home depot, going over and rechecking their work (note: We do NOT do this for a living). We opened a credit card, 1 year interest free with no minimum payment and started receiving statements with interest immediately... We had this corrected but do have a minimum payment. Contractor worked slower than anyone I have witnessed before. He leaned on us to show him how to install trim, etc. Contractor and designer seem to think each other are idiots - it is possible they are both correct. In summary, the little money we saved by going with Home Depot was NOT worth it. Too much headache, sloppy work, and over twice the time estimated.

We ordered a higher quality laminate countertop from Home Depot several months ago. After paying in full upfront, someone came out and measured and ordered the counter. After waiting for 3 months, it arrived and was installed. It had not been measured correctly and there was a 3/4" gap between the wall and the counter on one side, and the range side was cut crooked. Instead of alerting everyone to the fact there was a problem, the installers went ahead and installed the counter and filled the huge gap with caulking!!! I had to discover the mistake later! Someone came out to check it and said, "Yes, that's unacceptable." No kidding!! So it was re-measured and ordered again.
Another 3 week wait...they said they would expedite this time. 2 days before the day it was supposed to be installed, I called because I hadn't received a confirmation call. After checking, I was told that the material had arrived damaged and it would be several more weeks before it could be made and installed. Seriously?!? It was at this point that I told them to cancel everything, and refund my money. I will never again deal with Home Depot or Babcock Lumber or MC Enterprises, the contractors they use. They screwed up every step of the way. Please, if you are considering any purchase of this kind, DO NOT go to Home Depot or any of their contractors. Don't be like me and learn the hard way!

Don't use Home Depot for kitchen remodel. These guys don't know how to measure. They rush you into selecting cabinets (about $6k worth). I worked with the store manager and a designer. He spoke about cradle-to-grave support. He was so enthusiastic while selling the countertop and cabinets. After he got my credit card payment he was MIA. The store manager was supposed to come to my house to confirm the cabinets - never showed up until I reminded him a few times. It was useless. I received a quote of over $13K for installation and did not include plumbing or electrical. This is from the same incompetent fellow who did the initial measurement!!! Are you kidding me!
Countertop guys don't know how to measure either. I'm currently going through the 3rd iteration of countertops. The first two times, they sent the incorrectly sized parts, chipped, not flat, and not square. Countertops are not flat so when backsplash is installed, there are gaps. Countertop installers (subcontractors of subcontractors) are not precise (e.g. a 1" overhang was considered 1.25" overhang) so I had to measure everything and had them adjust - friggin ridiculous.
LESSONS LEARNED SUMMARY: Do not use Home Depot for kitchen remodel. They are in the business of selling things and NOT services. They are NOT professional service people! Home Depot sells inexpensive cabinets but then they have absurdly high installation costs (like high-end attorney rates) from incompetent installers. ($13k for a $6k cabinet swap?! - Makes no sense) DO NOT HIRE Home Depot installers. They should focus on retail sales. DON'T BUY countertops from Home Depot. Don't let the price deceive you. They'll screw it up (subcontractors of subcontractors who report to Home Depot who is missing in action and hard to get a hold of). Better to spend a little more and get it fabricated and installed properly. By the way, I decided to do install the cabinets myself because I couldn't find an available installer for the time frame when the kitchen had to get installed. It took some elbow grease and some education but I did it properly.

I ordered kitchen cabinets early March of 2014. I was told it would 3 weeks to delivery. When the cabinets came in, most of the order was either damaged in shipping or from the factory. I am not sure what is wrong with the quality control of this manufacturer, but they certainly have issues. I found one cabinet had never been ordered, and had them reorder the damaged and missing cabinets. They told me two weeks on a reorder. At three weeks, I stopped in the store and my cabinets were not in and not going to be in because they did not order them. No apologies, no ownership, just lies and lies and rudeness. I called Home Depot Corporate to complain and thought that it might get straightened out but after a short while, I was given back to the store that had treated me so poorly.
And here we still are. I am still washing dishes in my bathroom, still being treated rudely, and don't have the cabinets to complete my kitchen yet. Lies, rudeness and unprofessional is something, there is no shortage of at the Home Depot, and oh, by the way...if you're a woman, according to The Home Depot, you should stick with something you are capable of doing "like painting". Insulting...since I am the carpenter of the family. I will never ever shop at a Home Depot again. Unfortunate, we live in a small town and it has been convenient but I will drive 30 miles to Lowes or Menards to get what I need.

OK - Here’s the lowdown on Home Depot cabinet refacing. It’s not cheap as you might think coming from a Big Box store - however, they do a great job. Unlike many companies (and contractors) they keep you in the loop, informed and updated. They do things when they SAY they will. In all honesty, it was probably double what I expected, but with that said I really had no idea what it would run! The installer was here for four days and had a LOT of work to do. As a small business owner myself, I appreciate the time he put in as well as getting PAID for time spent. Everybody wants everything done right, fast and FREE. I’m sure there are cheaper options, but I feel this installation was carefully done and not a hack job. Would painting my existing cabinets have been cheaper? You bet. Did I have the time for that… No way. These really do look and feel like new cabinets - not some cheap cover-up job.

This review is for a $15K never ending kitchen remodel project. I came to this Home Depot in late August to start looking into getting new kitchen cabinets & counters. It took 2 trips and about 7 hours of time to sit with the professional designer to plan out our new kitchen. We came in on Sept. 1 to pay for the project and get started. There were all these in store promotions and manufacturer discounts to deduct from the total... except no one knew how to ring it up on the computer. We were asked to come in the next day to try to pay again.... that should have been my first clue. This will be a novel if I write all the issues. I will just list them:
Sept. 2 make payment. I paid to have Home Dept do the install work and have their guy do an "official measurement' of my kitchen. His measurements came back as about 9-12 inches off my old cabinets. We didn't rearrange anything, we used the exact same layout but somehow lost about 18-24 inches in upper cabinets space "because my measurement wouldn't fit with the windows"?? Even though I measured the old cabinets that fit fine. According to "official measurements" we also had to get 2 smaller base cabinets. We were told we would actually get money back, when we returned the wrong sized bigger cabinets that came with the original order.
Sept. 26 cabinets delivered to my house. I call the install guy. Home Depot didn't give him a heads up of when my cabinets would be in. Install begins until Oct. 8. installer asks me if I have the layout paperwork. I have a preliminary layout with my "unofficial" measurements - not the official measurements that they did?? What if I didn't keep that... because it wasn't official!! Remember the smaller cabinets that had to be ordered because the "official" measurements differed from mine, they were never delivered. I spent 2 days dealing with Home Depot and cabinet manufacturer trying to explain that I ordered 24 pieces of cabinets, then another 2 for a total of 26 pieces. Only 24 were delivered.
I was supposed to get a refund for 2 of them, but I can't return what wasn't delivered to me. Turns out they were delivered to Home Depot and they were never installed in my house. Yeah it was total waste of time and energy. Those 2 "officially" measured cabinets THAT WERE NEVER NEEDED! The trim pieces are wrong size. They have to order different trim to finish install. Also because the upper cabinets are so much smaller than old cabinets we order shelf end caps to take up some of the empty space we now have. Official measurements - you know. I get a call that my order is in. I got to Home Depot. No one knows where my stuff is, there is no delivery for me. Okay?? It was there, they lost it. Takes another week for someone to find it and call me. Second trim order is not right. Not enough trim, great official measurements guys!
It is now April 4, 7 months and 2 days after I started what was supposed to be a 5-6 week process (a month for delivery & 2 weeks max. for install) and my cabinets are still not done. PS. I did all the demo, they had an empty room to start with... why is it taking so long? We still have missing shelves, missing hardware that was supposed to be ordered weeks ago... it wasn't, & missing trim. Lots of communication/computer issues with store staff. I use the email given to me by store contact... but apparently that is wrong email because that goes to customer service?? Dude, you have emailed me from that account. Suddenly it is wrong? I don't get it.
It seems only a select few people know how to use registers correctly. It goes on and on. I haven't even listed it all. Hopefully, we are done before we hit the 4 month mark on Jan. 2... 5-6 weeks... yeah right. Seven months after I signed the contracts and paid... nothing has happened since November. Nothing has happened in last 8 weeks since I last complained to Home Depot. When will it end?

We recently agreed to have our cabinets refaced. We told our salesman our budget. He said a thermofoil door was our best option, and priced at about a 20% savings over a maple door. We selected a door, and he gave us a contract price that was within our budget. I asked if I could use my VA discount. He said it did not apply to services, but I could receive a 10% discount if I opened an account with HD. We agreed. I had to get on the phone and verify the amount. I reviewed and signed my contract. Everything went perfect. Installation was great, product is great.
Then we got our bill. It was $10,000 above what I agreed to. I went back and looked at my contract, which I was given copies of after he explained the next steps. A zero had been added beyond the decimal point. It is smaller than the other writing, and had to be added as he continued to fill out other paperwork. I am not one that suspects people by nature of committing fraud, but this was nothing but. I have been in the construction business for twenty years. I serve as an expert witness for all things construction for the state of Florida. I know the cost of materials and labor.
My kitchen is not even a 10' x 10'. I can buy two complete new kitchen from HD of wood cabinets for half of what they are now charging me to do laminate overlay. All told, there are 28 doors, meaning that they are charging in excess of $432 per door!! And now they are telling me I signed a contract for that amount. I would have laughed and politely asked the gentleman to leave had he quoted me such an exaggerated price, knowing the level of customization I could have done for the same money. Under no circumstances would I have ever entered into a contract for this amount. Worst part is they are now ignoring my requests. I guess my next step is to have to get an attorney and fight for obvious contract manipulation on the part of the salesman.

My husband and I signed paperwork with Home Depot to install brand new American Woodmark cabinets, a granite countertop, and a tile backsplash in our kitchen in August of 2013. Today, March 3, 3014, our kitchen is not complete. We were told on several occasions that the cabinets would take 6-8 weeks to be ready for installation and that the entire process would take 2 weeks from the time of demolition to completion. Home Depot began the installation FOURTEEN weeks after they completed the measurements for our kitchen. The cabinets that were installed were scratched on almost every surface and the color was uneven. The hardware that Home Depot installed cracked the inside of several door fronts. Several cabinets that were installed were crooked and had crooked hardware. The entire pantry needed to be reordered TWICE and is still not in.
I noticed scratches and dents before the cabinets were installed and informed the project manger of this. He had them installed anyway and assured me they would be "taken care of". We have had the project manager out to our home three times to see the damage and reorder pieces (none of the pieces that were first installed have been replaced at this point). Getting anyone to come to our home to address the concerns was like pulling teeth.
As of today, nearly FIVE MONTHS after our old kitchen cabinets were removed, our kitchen is not in working order. I have contacted Home Depot's store managers in Brea, CA, called Customer Care, emailed the project manager, emailed Customer Care, written two letters to Home Depot, emailed Home Depot 90 pictures of the damage, and hand delivered both letters and the pictures to the store and the issues have not been taken care of.
The countertop was installed over a month late and was the incorrect size. I was told the correct counter would be installed the week after Christmas - that has not been done and the counter is still the incorrect size. This process has been a nightmare. I would recommend doing your kitchen yourself before trying to work with Home Depot.

On Jan 25 2014, I ordered American Woodmark cabinets through Home Depot. I had already spent a lot of time measuring my kitchen and figuring out what I wanted for wall and base cabinets. I had an excel spreadsheet with the base and wall cabinets all laid out and color coded, so I had the list of what I wanted for cabinets.
Twice during the sitting down with the designer phase, I asked questions about what he was inputting only to find out he changed what I said I wanted, I have a small house and wanted standard 30 inch tall wall cabinets, he changed it to 36. I wanted 12 high over the range and fridge - he changed them to 15 inches deep, I didn't want that.
I also wanted them shipped to HD as I am away during the day and I wanted the wall cabinets on one order and the base cabinets on another order to be delivered 2 weeks apart to give me time. When he totaled the order it was way higher, when I asked he said HD doesn't like to have that many cabinets sitting here. It was an additional 500.00 to ship to my home.
So now, the wall cabinets are here and I am unpacking them. I ordered 2 wall corners, 1 right hinge and 1 left. I got 2 lefts, I called HD and the woman was rude, she said, "You can put up all the rest of the cabinets. Um lady the corner one has to go up first." Then she tell me to switch the door around. I paid for a $12k kitchen if I have to switch the doors around, HD is going to pay my contractor to do it. I will never buy another thing from HD.

We pulled out the existing cabinets from our kitchen and appliances right at the 1st of Jan. 2014. One week later good were delivered as the contractor would not start the job without materials on site. 1st subcontractor to come to demo the kitchen busted the copper water line to the ice maker so that is now jerry-rigged behind a wall. 2nd subcontractor, the electrician came to install recessed lighting... He wasn't capable of measuring correctly because when the cabinet guy came to install, one of the lights would be in the middle of the top of the cabinet... so that light had to be removed, dry wall guy returned to patch up that hole!!!
When the cabinets (Martha Stewart line by Thomasville) were delivered, the delivery guys would not let me open the boxes to inspect them so when the cabinet guys go to install, one big pantry cabinet is all busted across the bottom resulting in having to reorder, along with a panel not done right and a cabinet I did not order... I was told 1st that the correct cabinet was shipped, that the factory had another pantry cabinet already made and would be shipped right out... 4 days later when I inquire as to delivery, was told the company was closed due to weather...
The following week when inquired again as to delivery, was told it was in production... 2 weeks go by without any work on the kitchen, which the tile floor could have been done!!! Template for the granite countertops was made, and I was told they would be completed in one week. The tile and grout was finally completed and I get a call from the granite company wanting to come out to do a template!! This is 3 weeks after they did one... Home Depot cancelled their job to making the countertops although nothing changed in the layout of the cabinets to warrant this.
It is now the 22nd of Feb... and I've been without a kitchen since the 1st of the year. When told the least amount of time to complete the kitchen would be 3 weeks, the most would be 4!! Now double that time and I still have to wait more weeks for the countertops which is also delaying the installation of the new appliances, plumber and electrician again (I requested one that could actually do the electrical work)... When will I get the kitchen done? Most likely the middle of March which puts this 4-week project at approx. 9 weeks if I'm lucky, barring no more disasters! This is a small galley kitchen that cost me just over $27,000!

Be very cautious in dealing with Home Depot and their special order kitchen cabinets. On October 23, 2013, we ordered 4 base cabinets on special order and paid close to $3000 for them. Home Depot advised the cabinets would be shipped to our local Home Depot in Frazer, PA for pick up on November 6, 2013. Cabinets did not arrive and checking our online HD account revealed no record of the purchase, order or payment. However, our credit card account did show a payment to HD for $2800+ for the cabinets. HD customer service was contacted and advised that someone on their side "dropped the ball" and to give the order a little more time. Finally, our installation contractor advised he had to move on to other jobs.
We again contacted HD customer service and were advised the cabinets would be shipped shortly and were scheduled to be delivered to our residence. We advised HD to cancel the order as we no longer had a contractor and the items had not been delivered as promised. HD claimed the cabinets were in shipment and that we should simply refuse delivery and not sign any receipts from the delivery vendor. On November 17, 2013, a delivery truck arrived at our home and the driver showed a delivery receipt that did not indicate what was actually being delivered. We refused delivery, signed nothing, and the truck, driver and goods departed. HD customer service was advised and stated we would receive a credit to our credit card account when the vendor received the cabinets from the trucking agency. On December 6, 2013, we again contacted HD customer service who showed, again, no records of the purchase, but placed us with a corporate representative who advised the cabinets were a no-return item and that she could not credit our account.
We went through the entire story again, and HD corporate said they would look into it and get back to us. We have now placed the payment in dispute and the credit card company is withholding payment to HD until they finish their own investigation. Beware! Nowhere on the HD site does it state the cabinets are no-return and nowhere on the order form is such a statement. It is hidden away in the FAQ area if you happen to open that online page. So, presently, HD has our money, did not deliver as agreed and the cabinets are somewhere between God knows where and the vendor.

I asked for a Lazy Susan in one cabinet; she said it would cost $1,100 so I decided against it. Then she asked if $271 was a better price! Why the drastic difference? I never got an answer. I asked what if one of the 4 promised installers was sick and didn't show up on the job, and she said she'd come in his place! Yeah, like she could do the work! Told her I couldn't take the chance of not having the work done by Christmas, but she kept insisting it could be done. After 3 hours, she started telling jokes and I asked her how much longer she was going to take because she was already well beyond the 1 1/2-2 hours I was told it would take.
She knew my husband was delayed coming home from work, so I know she stalled waiting for him. When he arrived, she told him everything we had discussed, wasting even more time. Then she wanted a signed contract and 10% down that night with the remainder due when final measurements were taken and before order was placed. My husband and I both balked at that knowing we'd have no recourse later on. She said we had 90 days to change our minds, but we told her the law says 3 business days. She had to read her paperwork to see for herself that we were right! She tried a few more times to get us to sign, but left without a signed contract. She didn't give us a detailed breakdown of the costs - would have been nice to know how much each part of the job would cost.
I was so annoyed that night I couldn't sleep, so searched the web and found oodles of complaints. Over and over again in the complaints I read about installers not showing up, working only a few hours a day, the wrong materials and parts, HD takes your money and leaves you to deal directly with the installers, who seem to do whatever they want and not completing jobs to a customer's satisfaction. So glad I found those complaints; it makes us feel VERY comfortable not going with HD. Thanks to all for posting to warn the rest of us.

Home Depot has proven they are incompetent in both the role they have been responsible for in our kitchen and bath remodel. They have zero project management skill - essential parts were not ordered before the start date, causing delays that six weeks into the project persist. It is WAY behind schedule and will take more than double the estimates time to complete. Our kitchen and bath have been torn out for over six weeks and will not be finished for at least another month. Missing parts they never bothered to ensure got ordered were back ordered and we have to give up on waiting and get them elsewhere.
The shower stall ordered was of such poor quality the plumber refused to install it. The second one ordered took forever to arrive at the store and when it did, it was broken and had to be re-ordered - and we're still waiting for it. They are very passive and sit back waiting for problems they helped create to be raised and leave it up to the customer to work out or work around them as best they can. The contractor they put on the project is even worse. The two parties don't communicate with each other or with us.
Of the more than 6 weeks since the project started, we have had workers present in our home maybe 6 days. Once the project fell behind the first or second day, getting them back here to finish has been nearly impossible. Even the cabinet installation was left half done last week. This project has been a disaster from the start and now we are told that the countertops won't be installed for another month - and that’s just an estimate from people who clearly can’t stay on schedule. I would say realistically there is no end in sight to this project while we eat/continue to live without a kitchen or bathroom.

Refacing means spending as much on old cabinets as buying new ones. What a rip off and a headache. Home Depot makes promises, cashes the check and falls off the face of the earth. When I finally reached them to "schedule" my installation they provided another tentative date. I explained that a "tentative" date six weeks later than their original promised date wouldn't work. Finally they agreed to begin on a Monday. At 4:35 pm the Friday prior to the install date they called to reschedule. No go, frustrated the manager told me he have to find someone. Boy did he. Brand new no clue was what I got. The hardware they shipped was not what I ordered. Now, four months after this began here I sit waiting for them to call me to schedule the completion of my project. Keep in mind this happens every week with no return phone calls. Bottom line: DO NOT HIRE HOME DEPOT FOR YOUR KITCHEN REMODELING PROJECT.

I was told by my contractor to order a 33' cabinet and a 12'. The kitchen designer at Home Depot suggested that I go for a 30' and a 15' because it would look better. Not knowing anything about designs, I agreed and signed off on it. My contractor stated that the bottom cabinet was a 33' and that why he wanted the 33' on top. I tried to speak to Home Depot to see if they would exchange it and they said that I had to pay a restocking fee. I explained that I went based on the designer's recommendation and they said that if I had used their contractor, they would take responsibility for anything that went wrong. I am being penalized for not using their contractor and listening to their advice.

Well I guess I learned the hard way why contractors do not buy kitchens from Home Depot. The "designer" made many crucial errors, not discovered until cabinets were delivered. Getting the problems fixed took months and cabinets had to be reordered twice (more depot errors). Not to mention KraftMaid delivered horrible cabinets which included shelves 1/4" sloped, moldings and trim without much paint on them, doors without glaze or with the wrong hinges, etc. In the end, I, the contractor had to fix these problems after talking with the KraftMaid rep.
The Home Depot wanted ME to return the messed up cabinets of which were mistakes from their "designer". It was a truck load. After speaking with them about compensation for all my extra work, they basically said "I am not the customer because I did not pay for the cabinets". This was the ultimate insult considering I brought my clients into that store (#680) to fine tune my design which I made with my regular "designer" as I've done 8+ times in the past. My clients paid for these cabinets because they wanted Home Depot financing...another perk for the depot regrettably.
At this point my clients blame me for this boondoggle and they are the last people who would lead the charge for my compensation. And, unfortunately are the only people the Depot will listen to. The Home Depot acts like they sold me a defective towel bar and simply replacing it is all they are liable for. I lost $1000s, a solid referral, and it ruined my relationship with a longtime and respected client.
Buyer beware. Home Depot is NOT responsible for their mistakes (in their words). They do not compensate contractors and the "customer", and the purchaser is fully responsible for any additional charges their contractor applies for the Home Depot's failings. Absolutely unconscionable IMO.

We bought a kitchen with Home Depot which takes over 2 months going back and forth with the kitchen designer. The designer does not really know the technical aspect of putting a kitchen together just how to enter different cabinets into a computer system. Two months later, once you order and pay for the cabinets, you will get the cabinets to your home. Home Depot uses contractors to install cabinets and granite so do not expect to call Home Depot when the installers do not come on time or not show up at all. Once you do finally get your cabinets in, you will find parts that do not fit and parts too short, etc. This will delay your kitchen more. After all said, you will be waiting now another 3-4 weeks for the granite to be installed. The granite is another company that will give you the runaround for a while.
The communication between Home Depot and their contractors are horrible; you need to be after them or else you will never have a kitchen you paid for. Also, beware you will most likely have more costs added on because Home Depot’s computer system does not calculate correctly on how much granite you will need. Include an extra $1,000-$2,000 after you have paid for everything. I was out of a Kitchen for over 3 months with Home Depot. I know my friends have gotten their kitchens done within a week or two. The 1 Good part about the kitchen in the cabinets are solid and the quality of the cabinets are good.

I have had 2 dealings with HD. Both went well; the contractors were very good and got the job done fast. I once had their kitchen cabinets reface estimate done. The lady was a slick talking car salesperson. We got her out of the house fast. My wife was kind of rude to her after she showed us a couple of plastic molded doors that looked really bad, and the price was $8500. We stopped her at that point. She kept trying to sell to us by lowering the cost but we had enough. Don't bother with the resurfacing deal. I'm looking at the cabinets they sell. I think we will just do it ourselves and just order full cabinets.

I shopped around to find someone to purchase/install granite countertops for my kitchen. I chose Home Depot, even though they were a little more expensive, because I thought they would stand behind their work if anything went wrong. I was so wrong. A few months after the installation, my electric cooktop that they had taken out to remove the laminate and put back in to install the granite dropped to the bottom of the cabinet. Thinking this would be a simple fix over a couple of days, I called the West Little Rock Home Depot where I bought it and where they assigned the installation contractor, and they referred me to the contractor. He claimed it wasn't his fault.
It's now three weeks and I have no stove to cook on. I called back the store numerous times to get the biggest run round I've ever experienced. Mostly, we couldn't get a human being to take our call. When we did get in touch with someone, they said they'd have to talk to the manager. At the time, we were only requesting that they send someone out to assess the problem. They wouldn't do that. After about 14 days of calls, I was told that our "claim" was turned over to their insurance company, Sedgwick, and the store would no longer deal with the problem (as if they had). When I called the insurance number given, I couldn't get anyone on the phone. The next day, I was told by a claims agent that I had to get an estimate about any repair needed with an opinion on why they top fell. After spending $89 for the estimate, which found the installer at fault, I faxed it to them.
Now, I have been told that the claim will go to the Home Depot contract installer who has 10 business days to answer the charge (the same installer who said it wasn't his fault but wouldn't come to my home to look at the problem). We're back to square one with no end in sight. The estimate for the repair is over $700; in my mind, it's a small price to pay for a company to keep a customer who has spent thousands of dollars there in the past and who would have spent more in coming years. I share this experience with you in hopes that you never have to go through this same poor customer service experience.

My wife made an order for our kitchen cabinets to be refinished, 2 sliders to be installed and an under counter cabinet to be replaced. The order came to over $4,000. She signed the contract with a "sales rep" that obligated her to pay the whole amount by credit card to Home Depot before the job was started. The refinisher came just over two weeks ago. He worked very hard for eleven hours to refinish the cabinets and install the sliders. He worked very hard and did good work in a very long eleven-hour day, but knew nothing about the new cabinet. At that time, it was about 11 hours work for $4,000 or about $365 per hour. Wow, these guys are not cheap. First lesson, before ordering with Home Depot, get a competitive bid.
The installer called his office who said it looked like the cabinet was never ordered. They said they would call back but it needed to be handled by the sales rep. When my wife called the rep's number a couple of days later, all she could get was an answering machine. So she left a message. A couple of days later, she left another message. Then she did get a phone message from the sales rep on her voice mail - but that did not help because when she called his number again, she just got the same thing, the voice mail.
Well, the Home Depot glossy brochure you get when you sign a contract says, "Why the Home Depot? Peace of mind. Your project is guaranteed 100% by Home Depot." So my wife called Home Depot and a supervisor said she would call back but she did not. So I went into our local store and explained the story to the store manager. He said he would find out and call me back the next day. Again, there was no call. I went back again and spoke to another store manager, Chris, who promised to call me - you guessed it, no call. To be fair though, it took him about 25 minutes seeing him because he was swamped with trying to deal with other things in the store.
Then my wife called a Home Depot "expediter" who could not find the order. We really wanted just to get the work done so now we have followed the only recourse left to us and disputed the charge through our credit company - hopefully that may get some action. Second lesson, the Home Depot "peace of mind" guarantee was a lie as far as we are concerned - they may have peace of mind getting what looks like a very large commission for the work but we have no peace of mind, just a huge amount of aggravation. So think very carefully before you order a contractor from Home Depot.

In early to mid November of 2012, we had a representative out to our house to give us a price and their sales pitch on refacing our existing cabinets and installing new counter tops. The sales person seemed knowledgeable and we were interested in getting a quote and such. The salesman on several occasions emphasized the cost and the 3-5 max timeframe to complete the project. My wife and I were interested given the timeframe to complete the project. We were given the quote and offered 12 months same as cash financing. We accepted that.
Again in our contract, it stated that the project would be completed in 3-5 days. While we had never seen a contractor to that time live off to a timeframe guarantee, we chose to proceed. Usually in the banking world, you don't start the clock until product and service is delivered. Home Depot started the clock right then. They indicated they would be ready to start in 4-6 weeks and with the holidays approaching, we indicated that if it was started prior to the 12th, we would wait until after the holidays.
The project did not start until January 14, 2013. If you figure 5 days max to install, you get to January 18th. They just finished my project this past Saturday night, February 9th, 27 days to complete a 3-5 day project. Go figure. We dealt with the initial installer who blamed his boss for the delays. His boss finished the project and blamed the installer for most everything else and the length of time it took to complete the project. I spoke to Phil's boss Jacob out of the Columbus, Ohio office and while he apologized, he offered no reason for the incompetence. I was looking for a discount due to over run and inconvenience. It did happen. Again, go figure. While we like the product, we are very unhappy with the process and never recommend Home Depot Cabinet Refacing Service to anyone we know.

Back in Feb. of 2012, we started the remodel of our kitchen through Home Depot. As of Feb. 2013, we still do not have a completed kitchen. I'm not talking they don't have some hardware on. I'm talking we don't even have any upper cabinets yet. The project has been a boggle from the beginning. The only thing that went well for us was the design work. The woman at the store was top notch and we quickly and efficiently got that portion completed. Home Depot doesn't do any of the work obviously. The problem is that they don't oversee the work. By the time someone actually comes to do work, they are the subcontractor of a subcontractor. In other words, they are the third party who doesn't care what happens in your home. There are too many things they did wrong to even go into it all.
But I'll tell you what has come to epitomize this project. They measured my stove incorrectly twice and so put the cabinets in around the stove incorrectly. When we indicated it didn't fit, we were told it would just have to stay that way. We had to argue to get someone to come out and look at the situation. When the person from Home Depot came out, they accused me of getting a different stove during the process. Luckily, I had pictures of the kitchen before they started. So then the statement was that it only sticks out an inch or so from where it should be, we should just leave it? It took two more measuring attempts to get it correct. And they still installed the back wall incorrectly and it couldn't support the granite and they had to do it again. I have over $6,000 in bills from eating out for a year alone. Don't even get me started on their billing dept. Save your money. Save your time. Go someplace else.

Home Depot hires an outside contractor. The manager of the project never returned a call. There were no excuses for delays made, just no shows and constant aggravation.
When we hired Home Depot, we believed that we had a reputable company working on the project. Guess what? We were greatly mistaken. No one cares, no one contacts the owners with apologies. I can't go through all of it but I'm very disappointed with Home Depot right now. I decided to use them for kitchen counter work. Of course, they wanted to be paid in advance. That should have been my first clue. Then the billing kept changing. One day, it was one amount, the next day something different, and finally the last amount was over $500 what they initially quoted me. The old switch and bait routine! To top it all off, I had over $2,500 worth of material and labor and they wouldn't let me use a $20 coupon that was good for anything over $200!
The installation was the worst part though. Three guys showed up that honestly looked like they didn't know how to open a can of beans. I paid money to have a plumber do the plumbing part and only got a guy who said, "I hope your sink doesn't leak. I'm no plumber!" They chipped off paint, removed plaster, didn't seal seams, left gaps (backsplash wasn't measured correctly), and broke decorative wooden brackets and didn't even attach the bar counter to the brackets! I called HD immediately and they never called back. I called contractor and they returned and to date have only partially fixed some of the items. I called HD main office and they were great! After speaking with them, I immediately received a call from the contractor with more details and I even received a call from my local HD store today. If I hadn't been at work, I would have given her a piece of my mind but I had to be professional. I looked my contractor up on Better Business Bureau's website and they were given a D rating! I can't believe HD would use a contractor who had a terrible rating!
If you have problems, I would highly suggest calling the main office. You should get a form after the job is done so you can rate the contractor but I watched my contractor hide the form in his folder. If nothing else works, contact a lawyer. I am still considering that since no one has agreed to fix everything broken or given me some of my money back. Also, pay with a credit card so you can dispute charges. I would really suggest using Lowe’s. I've had nothing but good work from them and they follow up with phone calls to check on their contractors. Home Depot in my town doesn't even call back when you call them!

I started my kitchen design process late June 2012, meeting with the designer at the Home Depot in Murfreesboro, TN. I loved the designer. She offered suggestions for the colors and designs, so I don't have any complaints about/towards except the given time frame was off for the project and forgot to add the quarter rounds for the cabinets to the project. I wanted to redo the entire kitchen - new appliances, new cabinets, pendant lighting, quartz countertop, new sink, under cabinet led lighting, add garbage disposal and an insta-hot device.
My parents came into town from out of state to house sit, so I wouldn't have to take time off from work and use vacation time. The cabinets arrived a week earlier than expected, which I was pleased. I contacted the contractor to let him know when the cabinets were going to be delivered. He brought the electrician out with him when he came out and verified what needed to be completed. When I mentioned I wanted the under cabinet lighting put in and be able to turn them on/off with a switch, "Okay, no problem." The next evening, he came out to start cutting the holes for the pendant lights and so forth. He said that he would have to put the power supply in the cabinet and connect the lighting to the electrical outlets while installing the light fixtures using double sided tape.
The more and more I thought about it, it upset me. I could do the same thing, so I called the electrician back and mentioned, "No, I want the lights to use a switch (per contract) and you will connect them to the bottom of the cabinet using the connectors and screw that came with the lights." He did call me back, but said that I would need to purchase the power supplies that would allow that and in a hurry too. I went to Home Depot to look for the correct power supply. Needless to say, they did carry them. While looking for the needed equipment, a nice gentleman asked if I was confused or lost - another electrician (not contracted with HD). After that conversation, he gave me his card and asked me to call if the current electrician messed up. This electrician said that the current electrician could have spliced the the plug in the power supply wires to the switch and didn't need to purchase the additional power supplies.
The contractor's son installed the cabinets in one day, but forgot to put the baseboard back on the floor. When I mentioned this to HD, they called the contractor. This is a human mistake and will be resolved when they come out to finish the install. When I originally ordered my cabinets, I also ordered and paid for the countertops. The measurer couldn't come out to measure until the cabinets were in, okay. A week later, he came out to measure. My designer told me that it would take a week to get the countertops in to be installed, "Hooie," the countertop guy said. "Nope, two weeks." I don't know if it's practice, but the countertop guy took my sink. He said he would need it for the template. We will see how the rest of the install goes.

My husband and I were so excited to order our new kitchen from Home Depot! We have spent thousands of dollars of the years on appliances for our house with Home Depot. We have a small two bedroom townhouse and our kitchen is small. We met with a designer who walked around with us on two different days, both times we said we wanted a white kitchen! We walked around with a white sample and brought in a white chip and viewed a sample white kitchen similar to the Thomasville one we ordered. So we signed for the kitchen and were told we didn't need to be home when the kitchen is installed (which I now see is against the contract and we did need to be home, their violation).
It was the wrong color! The designer ordered Dover white! It looks terrible and is not what we ordered. Plus, the Thomasville cabinets were not finished, had cracks, etc., and needed to be replaced, but they were the wrong color. We went to our local Home Depot and they said they would try to order white doors and see how those doors matched up with the rest of the Dover as a quick fix. They said well, we signed. We are a young couple, put our trust in the designer and Home Depot, and were seriously misled. The designer has since transferred to another store. It is not my responsibility to know the names of all the colors of cabinets from Thomasville or other Home Depot designers. Their designer made a mistake.
They are refusing to replace the cabinets. It has been escalated to the district manager so we will see. The white cabinet doors that they said would come in this week to test against the Dover never even came in and now they won't even offer to help in any way after they said they would. The only positive thing is the man at corporate dealing with our case has been wonderful. This is just a nightmare. I am completely miserable, overwhelmed and angry with Home Depot's recent actions.

We have ordered all of our renovation supplies from Home Depot in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. For the most part, we have been satisfied until the cupboards and countertop. When the cupboards arrived, we discovered that two of the cupboards that were sent were the wrong size. They should have been 12". The doors for them were the right size, but the cupboards were 21". Obviously, someone reversed the numbers. Then, when we received the countertops, some of the pieces were missing the backing plates and there was a huge chip where the seam would be. We searched everywhere in the box for the chip. It was not to be found, so it was obviously chipped at the factory, but regardless of the chip, where were the backing plates? We cannot install without these.
When we called the Nanaimo store, we got nothing but the runaround. We have had conversations with many of the people there trying to get this sorted out. We have now run into the service person from hell who would rather defend the company that made the countertop and to hell with the customer. She said the company that made the countertop thoroughly inspects every thing they send out. If so, where are the backing plates and how come they were on some of the pieces and not the others? They should have been installed on the counters before they were sent out. Some had them and others didn't. So much for their quality inspections.
Now she (her name I will not give in this email, but I will happily supply it to Home Depot if they would care to give me a call) wants us to pay them $115 for their mistake or we will not have our counters replaced. We have already paid for the countertops once and I don't feel we should have to pay anything when the fault is not ours. We sent pictures and even took a piece of the counter in for them to inspect. They agreed that the counter was not made right, but still stands by the company that made it and still insist that we pay the $115 regardless of whose fault it is. This is terrible business practice.
I always enjoyed going to Home Depot for my paint and other items, until this. I had defended Home Depot when others had told me that they had terrible dealings with them until now. I am wondering why no one has taken these terrible customer service complaint to CTV or another mutimedia circulation. I feel it is about time someone did.
We have still not got this remedied yet. I would like to be able to use my kitchen. The plumber cannot even come in and hook anything up until we have our counters in. So I certainly hope someone gets in touch with me soon.
P.S. Unfortunately we will be paying the money, because we can't afford any more delays. However, we expect the company to reimburse us after reviewing our complaint.

In February 2012, we visited the Home Depot in Turlock, CA. We met a kitchen designer who took many Saturdays to design our new kitchen and laundry rooms. Just days before we ordered, we had our contractor do a double check on the measurements of the kitchen (we didn't use Home Depot’s contractor because they wanted some insane amount of money for nothing and thank god we didn't after their screw up). Turns out Home Depot's contractors recorded their measurements 3 inches to large. We had to start over from scratch and figure out where to put all the cabinets. We eventually ordered our cabinets the first week of April 2012, after being pushed into it under the "promotion expiring" excuse. So we spend $20k and ordered our cabinets.
Move forward weeks, the cabinets finally arrived the 2nd week of May and our contractor was able to get started only to realize that a support box we ordered wasn't shipped, panels were the wrong sizes, etc. To make matters worse, we elected not to use their corbels but did order their stain, which they sent in the wrong color! So, I had to replace 1,000 in corbels because they got stained the wrong color. UG! Thomasville has no concept of the word "rush". We waited weeks and weeks only to be told items were never ordered, items wouldn't fit our design, etc. (this all after we specifically designed our kitchen around certain things such as where the utensils would go, etc.).
Now it’s July 17th, our kitchen just got done last week and last night we had a leak under the sink that we caught immediately. That few minutes of water, maybe 3 minutes, ruined the entire cabinet. When we investigated further, we found out that they ordered us particle board cabinets. Oh yes, pressed, crappy board cabinets. Not what we wanted and not what we thought we were paying for! Now, the rep at Home Depot tells us that we agreed to that to lower our costs. Lies, lies, lies! She did it because I told them the cabinets shouldn't go over $20k. They came in just under that and now I know why… crappy ** cabinets!
The designer is trying to blame us, saying we knew what we were getting which is a flat out lie! We stressed numerous times we didn't want that kind of cabinet and she told us over and over that it wouldn't be. Now they are offering a "skin" to cover up the destroyed walls and floor of the cabinet and made a point of telling me how they were not charging me for the extra parts. Seriously! And don't even get me started on my pantry door. Do not buy Home Depot or Thomasville! Anyone thought of a class action against Home Depot?

In the beginning of January, we started working with a designer at Home Depot in Mount Pleasant to completely remodel our kitchen. We were doing all new cabinets, appliances, counter tops - the works. The designer that we worked with was new and although he had a great deal of experience in designing on paper (he was an architect), he was not as experienced working with the computer system that Home Depot had. We were slightly reluctant, but the team there assured us that he would be able to handle it and they would oversee everything. It took much longer for the design to be completed and they kept putting us off. We were patient and finally ordered our cabinets about 15 weeks later. Just to give you a time frame - we were told on our first visit to Home Depot that start to finish it usually takes 3 months for design, order, and installation. Through the process we were diligent and found a few mistakes which were changed when brought to their attention.
On the second day that we were there to order the cabinets (the first date was canceled because they weren't ready with the design again), we were told by the designer that we would be getting an additional promotion of 10% off. We firmed up the details and three hours later as we went to pay for the cabinets, the designer informed us that he was mistaken and we would not get the discount. We refused to order them after that and spoke with the manager. The assistant manager was not only rude, but so flippant with us. It was unbelievable to us that as paying customers we could be treated so poorly. But we had already invested 4 months of our time (I had met with the designer at least 8 times and the other designers as well because he wasn't doing it correctly) and needed our kitchen completed. After 5 days of us calling the managers constantly, they finally got back to us and agreed to give us the discount that they had originally promised. We ordered the cabinets, a sink and a faucet, and they were delivered 2 months later.
We were also paying Home Depot to do the installation and had to deal with their contractors called P&M. Unfortunately, there were errors on their end as well, but finally we were scheduled to have the installation begin. Once that was scheduled (and the 71 boxes of cabinets were sitting in my bedroom), we did the demolition of our existing kitchen. The day before they were scheduled to install our cabinets, I got a call from our Home Depot designer saying, "There was a glitch in the computer and your moldings were never ordered. Do not to worry, it's only another $1800 and we will put a rush on them and it should be in 5 days." The installers would not begin without all of the materials being on site. At that time my fiance inspected the sink we had ordered and discovered that they had ordered the wrong sink. Back to Home Depot we went. There were no apologies. They reordered the sink and moldings and we were told we should receive them in 3-5 days because they had "put a rush on them." Several visits and many phone calls later, we were told that they would be available June 30th - not the 5 days originally promised, but a whole month later.
Now, this email is to other moms and dads with kids: imagine our frustration of not having a kitchen for over 5 weeks with 4 kids! I literally was crying in the middle of Home Depot! When the molding was delivered, the installers worked for 2 days and then asked to speak to me. Oh, my gosh, not again, I thought. "Home Depot never ordered your sink base cabinet and we can't continue until it is in." No apologies from the designer. And after many empty promises later from the store manager, we are still today without a kitchen today. They offered to put up plywood for counter tops and a temporary sink until the cabinet comes in, but we declined as it doesn't make much of a difference considering that we don't have any appliances installed yet (waiting for the cabinets to be installed first) and we really don't want a piece of plywood sitting on our brand new cabinets.
Again, the Home Depot management told us we should expect it to be in in 5-7 business days, but couldn't give an exact date until yesterday (July 5th). The associate could barely manage to tell me that it wouldn't be in now until July 30th - that will make it 9 weeks without a kitchen! I burst into tears on the phone with her because I am just so distraught over this whole ordeal. We spent $27,000 and change on the cabinets, sink and installation alone from Home Depot and this is how we have been treated. My finance went there yesterday evening and spoke with the manager who told him that there was nothing they could do.

Home Depot was hired to remodel my kitchen. The cabinets and counter top was completed. Counter Intelligence were to complete the backsplash and window sill. They gave me two appointments, in which they did not show up, said that the tiles were broken both times. I contacted Home Depot in which they stated they no longer use the contractor. They then sent Marble Techniques to measure for the tiles. I called Tino and left messages on more than one occasion and no date was given to me as yet to complete the backsplash. In the meantime, I continue to pay my Home Depot bill because it's their policy that you have to pay for the job in complete. I'm still waiting and then I will need your help to resolve this matter.

I had an appointment with Home Depot kitchen designer and the person did not show up. There was no other person to back him up. I wasted my 45 minutes and no one gave me the proper answer. All I received was an apology. After 45 minutes, when I approached customer care, I was informed that the person is running late and will show up after another 2 hours and I had to come back. First of all, it is not fair to waste your customer's time and then after everything, only say an apology. Home Depot has not been professional in terms of their availability, communication and the coverage they have. Home Depot has been taking a real good care of employees, but not customers, is the feeling I have got. It is certainly not a good experience and unless Home Depot is going to do something, they are going to lose the business of around 4 to 5 grands from customer like me.

I purchased a custom-made laminate kitchen countertop with a sink cut-out. Upon delivery, the sink cut-out was not cut out. My installer had never experienced that before and had dealt with Home Depot previously. They said it would have been too difficult to deliver. My installer followed their instructions using a special saw blade and blue tape. A large chip was the result. The manager took no responsibility.

My wife and I worked with a kitchen associate at Home Depot and told her exactly what we wanted in our new kitchen. I did all of the demolition on the old kitchen and prepared the walls and floors to accept the new kitchen cabinets. One by one there were mistakes and problems from the start. The company that delivers the cabinets only delivers on Tuesdays in our area. So this delayed delivery for one week. Understandable. The estimator that came out to check my measurements changed the dimension on one wall making it 10" shorter. Therefore, the end cabinets were ordered the wrong size, delivered and installed before the problem was caught. New cabinets had to be ordered and installed and it delayed us another 3+ weeks.
The same estimator turned our island kitchen sink the opposite side of the island and thankfully this was caught by us to avoid having a person at the sink backing up to the fridge. We were not told that the ceramic tile floor in the kitchen needed to be redone under the island to make sure the new island covered the openings in the floor. This was done at our expense, time and labor. They did write this up in the estimate, but we were never told we had to do the correction. We asked that the ceiling molding go all the way to the ceiling. This was not estimated and it would have cost us an additional $2000. I had to hire my own carpenter to install the extension molding at a cost of $500.00. Far better than HD's estimate.
We also told the designer that we wanted a 4" backsplash on the countertop. This was left out of the estimate - another added cost of over $1000. When the new base cabinet was delivered to replace the shorter one, it did not have the soft close feature. The original cabinet did and we were told we had to purchase them separately. Why? When the original cabinet had them and newer one did not? They tried to keep adding on cost that were already paid for. Another cabinet that came in the wrong size came with shelves for the space/area above the broom area. The new cabinet came without the shelves and they are trying to charge us for them. We did pay the whole bill upfront because they tempted us with significant discounts if we paid in full by a particular date. It seems that we have been treated poorly since.
The project started on February 20, 2012 and the countertops are scheduled to be installed on May 9th. This still leaves me to install the backsplash panels on the walls. Overall, I strongly recommend crossing all of your T's and dotting all you I's when working with any designer. I feel that what we told her was not heard and she did what she thought we wanted and never heard some things we said.

I went to the 2911 Eglinton ave. E location to get kitchen renovation ideas on 21/02/12. A kitchen staff member made an appointment for me to meet with a kitchen planner named Nawaz on 25/02/12 at 2 pm. I arrived at the planning area at 1:55 pm and waited until 2:25 pm. At 2:10 pm, I found a floor employee and told him that I had an appointment at 2 pm with Nawaz but hadn't seen him yet. This employee told me that he had seen him with other customers before I arrived and that he probably went for lunch. I asked if he could find him so the employee made an overhead announcement that Nawaz's 2 pm appointment was here.
Another 10 minutes passed and I told another employee that I was waiting for Nawaz for a 2 pm appointment, that an announcement had been made overhead. I still hadn't seen him and that I had been told that he was probably having lunch, furthermore, that nobody had come to explain to me where he was, if I was supposed to wait and if so, for how long. This employee said that yes, he was probably having his lunch and would try to find him. He returned without any explanation as to where Nawaz was but said it was very unfortunate that I had been waiting. When I said I was going to speak to a manager, he said that was a good idea.
Elena **, installation services manager was at the desk and as soon I started saying that I was waiting for an appointment, she said that yes, she was aware and that Nawaz was on lunch because his shift started at 9 or 9:30 am and he had been with customers and hadn't had his lunch. I told her that my appointment was made four days prior, that I had all of my kitchen measurements and floor plan, had slotted one hour of time for the appointment (as was indicated when the appointment was made), had taken my daughter to a babysitter and was serious about my kitchen renovation and might potentially be spending a great deal of money if I chose to go with Home Depot planning. She said Nawaz had to have his lunch and that, unfortunately, another kitchen designer wouldn't be in until 4:30pm.
I told her that this was unacceptable, that I was a frequent customer of Home Depot, but would no longer shop here and that I will inform people of this experience. She offered no understanding or acknowledgement of my feelings, just said he had to have lunch. I brought my floor plans from RONA and Lowe's (both offered excellent ideas and plans) but most importantly, were on time for my appointment! I have an appointment with IKEA and will then decide who will do my kitchen renovation. Home Depot will no longer be considered for any project!

I remodeled my kitchen and two bathrooms a year an half ago. I bought new cabinets, replaced toilets, installed marble counter tops, a new stove and fridge, new molding and paint. We spent thousands of dollars on the project. We also replaced our backyard fence. Our house sits on acre so you can image the cost of the lumber. We were loyal customers to Home Depot.
Three weeks ago my husband noticed that one of our cabinets was coming off of the wall. I placed a call to Andrea at the San Bernardino Home Depot on Hospitality lane as she was the person that helped us with everything. She called the installer and had him come out to remount the cabinet. Upon inspection the contractors stated that it wasn’t a faulty install but rather the cabinets themselves were falling apart. He took pictures and reported back to Andrea. The cabinets we replaced had been in the house for over 40 years and were still in one piece when they were taken off of the wall. Isn't that the life span for cabinets? I have never heard of them falling apart or coming off the wall and after only a year and a half? Anyway, Andrea called RSI (the manufacturers of the cabinets), and explained the problem. RSI said they would send someone out to inspect our cabinets.
In the meantime, everything from those cabinets was sitting on our counter tops. I was afraid the whole thing would fall so I emptied them and we put a temporary mount (a cutting board) to hold the cabinets up. We waited four days with no response from RSI. My husband told me that Andrea called wanting to know the status of our cabinets. I called her immediately because as far as I was concerned this was Home Depot’s responsibility to follow up and I was waiting to hear back from her as to what the next step would be. We wrote the checks to Home Depot, that’s who should be responsible. She told me that they were just the middle men and that it was my responsibility to follow up and make sure someone came out to check on our cabinets. Needless to say, I was furious. I placed a call to the corporate office along with a letter to the store manager.
Nearly three weeks go by. In this time frame two people had already determined that we purchased faulty cabinets. I received a call back from Annie at Home Depot at the end of the third week who stated they were trying to work out a deal with RSI to split the cost. She asked if I could give her until Monday at 10 am and she would have an answer for me. Monday at 10 am came and went with no word from Annie, so I placed another call to Home Depot. I was told she was off for the day. Why would she give me a day and time when she would call if she knew she wasn’t going to be working? I asked to speak with another manager. After speaking with a few people and explaining myself, I was told someone would call me back and they did. I was told that Home Depot would take care of my cabinets and RSI would put $100 towards the reinstall.
When the contractor came out to replace the cabinets he made a comment that there had been other issues with the same cabinets we bought. My thoughts were, if Home Depot knew this product was **, why are they continuing to sell it? The contractor left the faulty cabinets for us to dispose of. Really? My husband put them in the garage until we figured out what to do with them. My cabinets were replaced so I wasn’t going to stress anymore about it.
On Friday we received a letter from RSI--actually it was a waiver. It stated that since they applied $100 towards the reinstall of the cabinets and they shouldn’t be held responsible if anything else happens to the rest of the products we bought from RSI thru Home Depot. What? You’ve got to be joking was my first thought. I put the letter aside and enjoyed my weekend.
Today I received a call from Lisa ** from Home Depot. She told me that I needed to bring the faulty cabinets into their stores so they can be reimbursed. Wait, if they needed the faulty cabinets why didn’t the installer take them with him? According to Lisa that wasn’t his responsibility but rather it was mine. I told her if she wanted to get her cabinets they were in my garage. They could send a person anytime. She then asked if I had received the paperwork from RSI. I told her what I received was a waiver and that I wasn’t signing it. She told me that if I didn’t sign it that I was responsible for the $100 RSI had applied towards the cabinet reinstall. Hold everything! Home Depot sold me ** cabinets that they had other complaints about. Home Depot also made me go three weeks before there was resolution over $100 reimbursement, and now they want me to not only deliver them the old cabinets but pay them $100? You must be joking! After all of the money we spent with Home Depot, this is how they treat their customers? Shame on them and RSI for taking advantage of the consumer that works so hard for their money.

I can document that the original plumbing was done with only 1/2" pipes despite the manufacturer's instructions requiring minimum 3/4". I've been dealing with Home Depot for over four years and the problem is still unresolved.
The existing plumbing is still only 1/2" to the two renovated rooms. The last "repair" was when they installed used, refurbished and unpainted cast iron radiators that were not in the original contract agreement, and they still don't work! They agree that they are still responsible for fixing the problem, but they repeatedly stall, delay and hope I will go away. The matter is still unresolved after 4 years.

When contacted, Home Depot has only offered to refund the original amount of the purchase, which leaves me in the hole for replacement, reinstallation, new counter top, etc. I am an 87-year-old widow. I ordered a complete kitchen remodel. Cabinets (white summit as it was displayed on their floor) and all that goes with it, new countertops (Blue Sahara quartz). Entire cost was around $15,000.00/16,000.00. I had no idea that the contractor and Home Depot were in the middle of a contract dispute (Home Depot didn't plan on renewing that contractor's contract). The contractor (Botts Enterprises) explained the situation when he was out installing everything that he could before the countertops were installed. The rest had to be done after countertops were installed.
Home Depot cancelled the Botts' contract before my kitchen was completed. I have had to fight tooth and nail to get Home Depot to get back to me, to get their new contractor to come and finish the project, correct a few things, etc. Though slow getting around to get me taken care of and their lack of communication, I decided it was time to seek out legal representation. Once I made that decision, I let Home Depot know what I was about to do and they had finally gotten back to me and tried to resolve this mess.
Add onto this mess, my roof I had done by Home Depot last Nov. (2010) costing almost $8,000.00 leaked. A total of around $22,000.00 I have spent at/through Home Depot to get 2 major projects done, and done right. In less than 1 year, both situations I have had to fight tooth and nail to get resolved. The roof supposedly was fixed last week. I'm waiting to see if that takes care of things in the next heavy rain/storm.
With these two examples, I have no desire to do any remodeling, upgrades, etc. business with Home Depot/Lowe's etc. in the future. I suggest that Home Depot gets out of the repair, remodeling/upgrade business and just stick with being a hardware store.

We have had a nightmare experience with Home Depot in the installation of our kitchen cabinets. We ordered $22,000 worth of kitchen cabinets from Tom. They were to take 4 weeks to be delivered and could be installed immediately. The cabinets came in on time, however the installer was 2 weeks out for installation! We had already removed our kitchen cabinets! We were patient and waited the 2 weeks. The cabinets got delivered to our house early so we moved our cars and stored them in our garage which is very inconvenient! When the installer arrived, he realized by the 2nd day the base for the kitchen sink cabinet was the wrong size!
When we contacted the store, Tom, the designer, refused to take our calls and put us to Serena! Serena accused us of making mistakes and was very rude and not helpful at all! Were we supposed to measure ourselves? I thought that was the designer and installer’s job. They had all the specifications for the appliances! We called the store manager and he gave us the name Holly ****! She was sympathetic and acted like she would take charge. After 2 more days, we were supposed to meet the installer at our house at 7:30 a.m. to go over fixing the design problems. We then found out that there were several design problems! At 9:00 am, no one has showed. We called Holly to find out where the installer was after all we had jobs to go to! She said that she told my husband that he would be here closer to 7:30 rather than 12. Who makes an appointment like that? The installer had no idea that my husband was waiting for him!
Obviously, no one was feeling the urgency in our situation. We had now been without a kitchen for 3 weeks and we still had to order the new cabinets. We now find out today, due to the holidays, we will not get our cabinets until January 5 maybe. After we get our cabinets, we still have several workers that cannot do anything until after the cabinets are installed. At this rate, our 2-week kitchen re-model is turning into 2 months! I would have never started this project if I knew how weak Home Depot was going to be about the situation! We are all now sick from the dust and of course cannot celebrate Christmas at our home! Merry Christmas all you people at Home Depot. While you are celebrating with your families, I hope you remember what you ruined for our family!

Counter Top Order/Installation-I ordered a Martha Stewart countertop for my kitchen at the Silver Spring Home Depot. In order to have someone come out to create the template, 1/3 of the purchase had to be paid which was over $1000. Once the measurements and template was done and submitted to Home Depot, I received a call from Home Depot Service Department stating that the balance must be paid in full before the work could be done.
Under protest, I visited the Silver Spring Home Depot to 1) inquire about why the purchase had to be paid in full before any work was done and 2) What was I to do if the work was not satisfactory and/or unacceptable although the bill had been paid in full? Well I was told that because of the "recession" HD had changed its policy to this "paid in full" and that I could trust them to deliver on their promise. The purchase was paid in full and now it was time for the install waiting game. Two weeks later, I received a call from the "contract" installers that the counter was ready for installation. Because they don't do installations on weekends, I would have to choose a week day that they had available. Ok, fine. Just recently widowed, I did not have personal leave, but made arrangements to be available the day of installation.
Well the installers showed up around the given time (1:00 PM), immediately looked at the job to be done, and said they could not do the installation because the old counters were still there. I discussed and paid for the removal of existing counter tops when making my purchase. Home Depot dropped the ball on ensuring that this task was either done prior to installers coming out or letting the installers know that this was part of the tasks they were responsible for. Either way, the honor of this screw-up was on Home Depot. Then when trying to work out this screw-up, all parties were acting as if my personal time was invaluable. The stove top section was totally wrong; the section was about 2 inches too long and the stovetop opening was in the wrong location. I realize now that I should not have accepted this part. A more professional crew would have the section recut. However, this crew decided to butcher the cabinet and the walls to make this section fit. Their behavior was as crude as their workmanship. Hope fully this information will save another customer the same misery.

I bought this LG French door refrigerator (model #LF25971) on 7-9-2008. In one year, the door rubber around the door is split and is tearing off. Since they brought it out to me, the door doesn't close properly. You have to use a little afford to close it. The LED lights in the refrigerator are going out one by one. The freezer light comes on when it wants to. I did not get a ex-warranty because I have a LG washer and dryer with no problems, but after buying this junk refrigerator I'll never trust to buy another LG item ever if they don't stand up to fix their junk refrigerator item. I've tried since 2009 to get them to fix it and they told me I was three days out of warranty. My kids hurt their waist trying to close the doors to the refrigeration. The rubber is peeling off the door that should seal in the cool. It doesn't work as it should.

We ordered some cabinets in November 2009 and they were delivered in January 2010. Four cabinets had either the wrong dimensions or they were finished with particle board. The installation went badly with poor alignment, no scribing and poor finishing materials. We complained immediately. It is now September 2010 and have been handed off from one person to another. We will probably put this into small debts to have the cabinets removed and for us to recover the money that they wanted up front.

I ordered a Silestone countertop on 7/26 from Home Depot. Due to problems within HD, the order was placed with fabricator, Elegant Surfaces in Manteca on 8/12. To date I have no information on when the installation will take place, even though the countertop is paid for and kitchen has been prepared for installation. I have called, visited the store, etc. and there is always some excuse. I need an installation date so I can schedule the completion of the kitchen.

In early March 2010, my husband and I went to Home Depot in Oneonta, NY to see about renovating our existing kitchen. We have a 30 year-old custom-made solid oak cabinets in a small kitchen and were just looking to replace the doors and drawers to the existing cabinets. My husband is a decorative painter, so we didn't want refacing as we were going to paint the oak cabinets. We also wanted to add two glass door cabinets to either side of the window, another cabinet above the refrigerator, and a small peninsula. Though we weren't totally gutting and creating a new kitchen, we were going to put in quite a bit of work and all of our supplies would have been purchased at Home Depot, as we have been customers of the store for many years. We also wanted to replace the existing Formica countertop with Silestone quartz.
We met with a salesperson, Tonnia, and told her what we wanted to do. She gave us the number of the home renovation/refacing company connected to Home Depot: P & M Associates, a subcontractor of US Remodelers.
After making an appointment with them, a salesman arrived March 18, 2010. We told him what we wanted: new self-closing drawers with full extension slides, new paint-ready doors in a Shaker style, some new cabinets to match, two base cabinets to create the peninsula, and to reconfigure two existing built-in wall-to-floor cabinets with sliding shelves.
We picked out a color for the new countertop from about 15 samples that he showed us. We selected hardware from about 10 samples. We chose our cabinet door style, and he took full measurements of the existing cabinets and kitchen area. We signed a contract for $8912 and gave him a voided check for $891 for the down payment. We also gave him a voided check for $5352 for the countertops. I thought it was a bit high, but because I had never had a stone countertop thought it might be expensive. I asked Bill ** when the work would start. He told us it took some time to order the supplies and build the doors and it would be one month to 6 weeks before they could be here.
A week later, Phil M. came to take exact measurements of the kitchen. He was there a few hours doing that. He was also supposed to get the balance voided check of $8021 but forgot to ask, so after a phone call, I mailed the check to P & M. (By the way, all three checks were cashed before the work ever began.)
About a month later, my husband and I emptied the kitchen of all groceries and cooking implements in ready of their arrival. After 6 weeks when we hadn't heard from them we called and were told they have to bunch orders together before they can begin ordering supplies.
By May we had made more phone calls to no satisfaction and were now speaking and complaining to Tonnia at Home Depot. In the meantime, I had electrical work done independently and purchased and installed a new microwave vent through Home Depot.
At this time during a visit to Home Depot my husband and I saw the Silestone display and realized that the colors were priced by group and differed greatly in cost. Bill D. never explained that to us, and while at Home Depot, we saw a color not originally shown to us and much cheaper. We phoned Philip M. at P & M Associates to tell him we wanted to change the Silestone color. He said that would be no problem and when I mentioned there was a price difference (going from $96 per sq. ft. to $59 per sq. ft.) and I should be getting some money back from the payment I sent, he agreed and said he would send me a check.
Weeks went by and I hadn't received the promised check. When I called Phil again, he said he couldn't recall the phone conversation and change of color but would be in touch with Home Depot about it and that I should contact Bill D. myself, even though Phil and Bill work in the same office. Bill took a few weeks to return our call and then told us we would be getting $1146 back. I asked him what the measurements were and he said they were 15 linear feet and 4 linear feet for the peninsula. He couldn't translate it to square feet and so my husband and I took detailed measurements ourselves. From our calculations we should have been getting much more back than what was quoted us.
When I called back about the discrepancy in the cost calculation, Phil said he would cancel the order and return the full amount of the countertop because Home Depot must have a better price than them. I was under the impression they were working through Home Depot so this was a puzzler but I was happy to be getting the full amount returned.
In June, I spoke to Tory from the Atlanta Home Depot headquarters to tell her of my situation. To cut to the chase, it took talking to Tory and also Mike T., the installation manager at Oneonta Home Depot, to finally get our check back for the countertop on June 28, and to finally get someone from P & M to commit to starting the job.
On June 21, Steve from P & M Associates arrived with the new cabinets, doors, and slides for the drawers, as well as hardware, though it was not the hardware we selected. The drawers were not there, the glass for the glass cabinets was not there. The slides were the wrong size, as were most of the doors. The cutting board insert was too small and the door that goes on the slide-out trash bins was too small. When Steve saw a few of the doors didn't fit, he said it was all wrong and it had to all be returned. He took full measurements of the kitchen again. (This is now the 3rd time measurements were taken. ) Also, in his haste moving a door around, he hit the corner of the door against the ceiling gouging a small hole that needed repair by us.
After Steve left, we noticed one of the new wall cabinets was installed crooked, and when we looked at the other two wall cabinets, they were installed upside-down. We also went through all the doors left behind and saw that if a railing were attached to the bottom of our existing cabinets, most of the doors would fit. The reveal would be more than we asked for, but we were willing to compromise just to get work going on the kitchen as it had been over 3 months since we signed the contract.
When we phoned P & M and spoke to Phil to tell him about the disastrous work done so far and about all the wrong sizes of doors, slides, and drawers, he said he would send his top installer to come out to see it and take measurements. (#4 )
Greg arrived on June 24 and took measurements. We told him about the easy fix for most of the doors by attaching a bottom rail. When we showed him the upside-down cabinets he said he could fix it easily by placing a block of wood in it so the shelf would be flush. That's not a fix I was happy with. Greg said it would take a few more weeks to order the correct doors and drawers.
On July 2, Greg returned and began installing slide-out shelves. While I was outside, I heard noises of construction and wood splintering. After 20 minutes I came into the kitchen expecting to see work on the built-in cabinets but didn't. I just couldn't figure out what he was doing to warrant that noise. While here for the day, Greg installed 5 drawers and 6 slide-out shelves.
When he left, we were checking out the kitchen and saw that some slide-out shelves moved smoothly and were about 1/4-inch from the bottom, while others were difficult to pull out and were 1-inch from the bottom. The drawers in the peninsula were very difficult to pull out and push in, certainly not the easy-close slides and two drawers would not go in all the way at all. When we looked inside from the top we saw that the slides were for frameless cabinets, when these are face-frame cabinets and that there were rough pieces of wood holding the slides in place within the cabinet, and that he had removed the back of the cabinet to force the slides to fit, gouging into the other cabinet attached to it to make the peninsula. Greg had even gouged out a piece of our existing wall cabinet when he removed an existing hinge.
This was the last straw. We called Mike at Oneonta Home Depot to tell him he had to see this botch job for himself and that we wanted no part of P & M anymore. Our kitchen was a disaster.
On July 5 Rick from Oneonta Home Depot arrived to inspect the kitchen. He took photos and measurements (#5), agreed with us that it was a mess and unprofessional, and assured us that Home Depot will fix it and we will have our kitchen. He even took down the color of the Silestone we selected. I was given the impression that Home Depot would repair the work and finish the installation.
He left and we felt relieved that they would be standing behind their assurances and our kitchen will be the way we wanted it to be.
On July 7, I received a phone call from Mike from Home Depot telling me that Phil from P & M would get in touch with me to set up an appointment to come to our house and see the kitchen. I told him I didn't want him anywhere near my kitchen. Mike said we had to go through the proper steps and that Phil had to come here and I had to cancel the contract. When I asked about my kitchen, Mike said afterwards we could come to the store and they'll design a kitchen within our budget.
Design a kitchen within my budget? My existing kitchen was destroyed. There's no going back now. Because P & M, and ultimately Home Depot, were incompetent installers, I'm being told I have to bear the extra cost of repairing the harm done to my kitchen, and that's not even taking into consideration that I have waited 4 months with considerable stress. The kitchen within my budget of $9500 (and that's $600 over) Home Depot in Oneonta is suggesting consists of plywood cabinets with maple veneer. My existing kitchen is/was solid oak throughout. To suggest that I should just forget about what happened, start from scratch, and now spend much more than I had expected for something less than I originally had is beyond belief.
On July 8, P&M called to say they would be refunding my money. It's a week later and I still haven't seen the refund or heard back from anyone from P&M or Home Depot. Customer Care says I should be entitled to compensation, another Home Depot store in another town says I should be getting compensation for the long wait and poor workmanship, but so far those involved are ignoring us entirely. I am utterly frustrated and extremely disappointed with Home Depot.

I established Home Depot charge card and put all expenses ($50,000) on the new card in order to take advantage of their "no-interest-no-payment for 12 month" promotion. Part of the agreement involved credit for unused, returned items.
Once the nightmare project was complete at the end of the 11th month, I asked the store manager's assistant to expedite the credit for the returned items. I explained my intention to pay the full balance in order to avoid any interest charges. In order to pay the balance in full, I required the exact figure, after the credit had been posted. I repeatedly asked for my closing balance. They were unable to provide the figure because they lost the items that they removed from my apartment. After numerous letters, phone calls and store visits, I lost patience with the Manhattan store and sent a letter (with supporting documentation) to HD CEO. Although he never responded, my two part complaint to him was partially addressed. I did receive a call from an Atlanta Support Center and shortly thereafter, a credit was finally posted to my account. The credit took place on month 14.
In my complaint to Mr. B I made two requests: (1) immediate credit for the lost items (2) reversal of the $13,031.30 interest charge. I have since paid the complete balance, minus the interest. I have been charged $13,031 in interest because of HD's complete ineptitude in the arena of kitchen renovations. The project should never have taken so long and I should have been done with them long before the 12 month promotion ever expired. I simply cannot stand for this unfair and unethical treatment. I should not be liable for any interest whatsoever and the account must be closed immediately.

I went to three Kitchen Design showrooms to find someone to do my kitchen and walked away disappointed. My husband and I were in the Home Depot in Sunset Valley and ran into Christina **. She actually helped us with our plumbing questions and then asked if we had chosen a designer and cabinet supplier. She was so informative and knowledgeable. Finding her just felt too good to be true! She designed our kitchen, assisted us with counter tops, flooring, lighting and a new back splash. She is such an asset to The Home Depot. I would have never dreamed of doing my kitchen there. I am so very glad she changed my thoughts. Not only was she wonderful, we saved about $3,000 over doing it, at one of the other cabinet places. Thank you, Christina!

I had the Home Depot install a granite countertop. About the 14th month after installation, the countertop showed a hairline crack. I called the store and they sent someone to look at it. They told my husband that we must have cracked it, that it was not under warranty any longer and would cost over $1000 to repair it. I have repeatedly tried to address this problem, which is now over 2 years old and they've had so many different management changes that no one has taken the time nor cared to try to address my problem. The crack on my granite has now "spidered" out and the granite is sinking. The crack is now 17" long and keeps getting wider, that food particles seep into it.

I purchased a kitchen remodel in 2006. Everything went fine, no problems, no confusion. That was for a kitchen in a double we own. We went back to Depot to get the kitchen in the other unit done. We brought all the layouts, paper work, etc., from the first kitchen. The house was built as a double, it is a flat, the kitchens are dimensionally the same, in fact they sit right on top of each other and were built that way when the house was first erected. The cost to have the same countertops, cabinets, faucets, handles, hinges, etc., done in kitchen number 2 was approximately $3500.00 more than the cost previously.
They had "no record" on file of our kitchen from late in 2006. No problem, I brought my copies of the layouts including floor plan, layouts, estimated cost, actual cost and part numbers for all of the items. This time, it cost us more money and we had nothing but trouble. The Home Depot contractor was at our house, calling my cell phone to ask me where the items were he was installing. Then he got fed up and told me he couldn't do any more work, and left for the day. A call was placed to Home Depot. They said they would, "take care of it".
The next day, the contractor showed up with no materials. He had already put in the cupboards but had no sink, faucet, knobs for cupboards, dishwasher, microwave/fan, etc. So, I went to Home Depot, print out in hand of what we had purchased. The next person I talked to was clueless. She had no record of this project. I told her that her contractor was at our house waiting to do the work. She assisted me with my list of items. We walked to the store together as I pointed out the countertops, sink, faucet, knobs, etc., that I had purchased 4-5 weeks prior to that day.
Yes, 4-6 weeks ago I paid for the items. The cabinets were delivered to my home. Therefore, Home Depot had 4-6 weeks to pull the items off their shelves and see to it that the contractor had the items so he could do his work. We got all items together. In the meantime, Home Depot’s contractor kept calling my cell phone to check in and see how long it would be. He was at a stand still and decided it would be best if he came back next week when we get everything together. Okay, so his argument is that he scheduled this time to work on our house and has other jobs going on so he needs to leave.
Meanwhile I am at Home Depot pulling the items off the shelves using my print out from their store to gather my purchases from 4-6 weeks earlier. Then we are told, “Oh there is no dishwasher on this order.” Well, there certainly was, and guess what, it was the same model we purchased a little over 2 years ago for the other kitchen. Then we got this, "Oh, I'm sorry those are out of stock." So, I walk my store representative back to the dishwasher section, walk over to the dishwasher, place my hand on top of it and say, “This is out of stock?” Oh, of course, we can purchase the floor model, but I am like, “But nothing, you had them 4-6 weeks ago when I walked around the store when I purchased this entire $7000.00 kitchen from you!
So, we agreed to buy the dishwasher. At this point we seriously want to get all of the items back to the house so Home Depot’s contractor has everything he needs to do his job. Well, that is when he has time to come back since he spent his time waiting for us to do Home Depot’s job. Did I mention that this is an income property? That means that every day, week, 4-6 weeks, etc., that we don't have a kitchen, we are losing money! Okay, now we are doing one last check of all the items on the list. We are at the front of the store. The Home Depot representative now says to us, "Okay, if you just back your truck up, we'll have someone load everything for you and you can take it home." Okay, two problems: We have no truck! And if we did, are you seriously suggesting we have the means to unload a dishwasher, sink, hood fan/microwave and all the other miscellaneous items like knobs, etc.
Now I am fuming. We are being asked to deliver all of our own materials, days after their contractor stood around and called my cell phone complaining because he didn't have what he needed to do his job at our house that Home Depot was paying him to do with the money that we paid Home Depot. Yes, you will need to read that again to understand it. The following week, the contractor came back. He did the knobs on the cabinets and tried to install the dishwasher. I got a call on my cell phone. He tells me that the hose that came with the dishwasher is not the right one. I, of course, don't want him to leave for a week, so I came home, take a look at the bag with the brochure and all the attachments in it and match the part number to the model number on the back of the dishwasher. Yup, he's right, it is not right.
So, I drove to Home Depot, go directly to the department where we bought the dishwasher off the floor, the man says, "Yeah, I see, that one must go with this one over here. That means we probably don't have the hook up for yours, you may want to call the manufacturer.” Well, I don't think so. I take it upon myself to get down on the floor and look behind the remaining floor models so I can locate the bag with brochure and hook-ups for the dishwasher that is sitting back at our house. Yup, found it. I matched it to the model number that I had written on the paper. I took it home with me, then called the contractor. Well, guess what, he has other jobs going on. So once again, we waited. He came back, put in the dishwasher.
Next up, the countertops. The contractor says to me, "When is the guy coming to do the countertops so I can put the sink in.” I said, “You are putting them in.” He said, “I don't do countertops.” I said, “I bought these off the rack at Home Depot and you are doing the install.” He said, “No, I'm not. You need to call Home Depot and see who is putting these in so I can schedule a day/time to come back to do the sink.” I called Home Depot. No one knows what is going on. “What countertops?” is basically the response. So we ** around with a three-way conversation for about a week discussing who will do final measurements, who will do the install, and then, I'm sorry I thought that I paid for the countertops with installation of the entire kitchen "4-6 weeks" ago.
According to the contractor, he doesn't install countertops. I reminded him that he put in the same 8 feet and 6 feet section in the other apartment a little over two years ago. In fact, I brought him into the apartment and showed him how he cut a sink hole out of the 8 feet section and trimmed a couple of inches off the end, then took the 6 feet section and cut two 37" sections out of it for the other side. His reply, "Well, I'll need to get back to you because I was unaware that I was going to be doing this work.
Next up, final measurements. After 3 days of back and forth between Home Depot, the contractor and myself, we came to an agreement. Home Depot’s contractor would measure, Home Depot would cut them and Home Depot’s contractor would install them. It is now rapidly approaching the end of October. We originally wanted the apartment ready to rent for October 1st. If we are lucky, we'll be able to show it and rent if for November 1st if Home Depot can cut the countertops. Surprise. Friday morning at 8:30AM, my cell phone rings. It is the contractor, "Where are the countertops? I am here and there are no countertops. Were they cut?"
So, I called Home Depot and found out that they were not cut. The manager tells me that he is going to cut them over the weekend. I called back the contractor, Home Depot’s contractor, and let him know that they won't be cut until over the weekend. He tells me he has other work and cannot come back until next Wednesday. Poof, there goes renting the apartment in November. Now we are looking at December 1st. Not likely. The chances of anyone moving right before the holidays and during winter in Buffalo, NY are slim, to say the least. We now have a bill from Home Depot that is about 30% higher than the same kitchen cost a little over two years prior. The argument was that labor went up. I find it interesting that it took much less time to do the other kitchen, less involvement on our part, at a lower cost.
We were unable to rent the apartment through December and January. Thanks to Home Depot we lost about $2800.00 in rental income. And here is the icing on the cake and the catalyst that prompted me to rehash the events outlined in this note. Our new tenants moved in a little before February 1st with the agreement that their lease would start February 1, 2010. Today is February 25th. They, the tenants called me on Sunday, February 21st, to tell me that water was coming from under the sink. I went upstairs, looked, and while I was in their apartment, called the plumber (a contractor who works through Home Depot). They had no one on-call since it was Sunday, but would have someone come over first thing Monday morning. My husband stayed home from work so he could follow-up on the situation. We anticipated an issue because of what we went through before.
Here is how it played out. No one came on Monday. The tenants could not use the kitchen sink (yes, the new sink/faucet that had been used for about 3 weeks). Tuesday, no one showed up. I called. They sent someone over to look at it around 4:00. He says, “The faucet is defective, you'll need to turn the water off so you don't ruin your cupboards. Then you'll need to call Home Depot and let them know that the faucet is defective. They will probably want you to bring it back. When you get the new one, let us know and we'll install it.” I said, “Wait a minute. Didn't you install it the first time?” I talked to Home Depot, explained the situation, with my receipt and list of items in hand.
The person I talked to told me that I never bought a faucet from them. I told her that she was the one who walked around with me in the store and actually drove the Home Depot truck to my house. Oh, yes, she remembered, and what do you know, found the line item on her copy of the receipt. No problem, she will get it taken care of. About 30 minutes later, the contractor called. They will be there tomorrow morning (Wednesday) between 11:00AM - 12:00PM to install the faucet. I read him the exact part number of the Moen faucet that I had purchased previously so there would be no problems.
Wednesday, February 24th 2:40 PM, I got a call from the contractor. He says, "We are on our way over to take care of the sink. We should be there in about half an hour. Did you pick up the new faucet from Home Depot?" I spoke with our tenant last night. They installed the replacement faucet last night around 4:00. No work order for signing, nothing. Just left without even saying goodbye.

This past summer, my husband and I decided to install a kitchen in our new home. We visited our local Home Depot and several other places before we decided HD offered the best deal. We were pleased with the customer service we received initially and naively expected a relatively smooth process. We made the order in June and tore out the kitchen for the contractors to arrive the third week of August. They installed the cabinets in short order and everything seemed fine, at first glance. After the contractors left, I attempted to open a draw that was at a 90 degree angle to my stove, only to find the drawer rammed into the protruding stove handle and did not open fully.
Obviously, our contractors had not even taken the time to make sure every drawer would even open! They claimed we needed to order more pieces in order to extend the length of the peninsula to eliminate this problem, which we did and had installed. Once they moved the peninsula out, you could no longer open a spice cabinet drawer because they had moved the entire piece a quarter of an inch forward. But of course, the contractors did not catch this before they left.
Back for recall, trip no. 3, the contractors are now complaining the design was wrong and HD is complaining the contractors are doing poor work. The customer is in the middle of two companies attempting not to lose any money or reputation by pointing fingers at each other. The multiple problems were finally resolved and the entire (including countertops) project was completed in early November, a full three months after the initial beginning. Not to say HD did not attempt to make amends, we did receive a free sink, which of course was low end quality and scratched horribly within a few weeks, but as a customer, they certainly did not live up to a standard of "Customer Satisfaction".
My husband and I are rather easy to please, and I wouldn't have even considered complaining in such a public fashion until this past month (February) when a piece of the top molding, which apparently was never nailed in properly, came crashing down and barely missed my 8-month-old. Granted my husband did not help, it's precarious position by noticing it protruding from the ceiling and attempting to push it back into place, assuming the nails were at least deep enough that would not fall completely. I understand the need for a company to make money to survive, but I do not believe that any company should sacrifice superior quality on the altar of finding cheap workmanship. To anyone who is considering using Home Depot, I would recommend cutting the middleman and finding a contractor you can trust on your own.

I purchased a kitchen installation from Home Depot in July 2009. Their installer is P and M, Randy ** did the work in my house beginning August 24th.
On November 11th 2009, there was an accident where the cabinets he installed came off the wall and crashed to the floor, with a granite countertop attached to the top of the cabinets. He admitted fault, saying he should have put on legs, legs had been ordered in August, per his instructions, but they were too short so they were returned, but never replaced. The accident was reported to his employer P and M and Home Depot.
Replacement legs were installed and the granite countertop was reinstalled by Randy, badly causing my 9-year-old son to cut his palm while he was running his hand over the countertop. His hand was bleeding and it was treated at home and healed. The countertop was chipped in the accident and those chips remained until Randy removed them and had his guy file them down.
Pursuant to the above, there are seven cabinet doors that have been ordered five times and each time they arrive, it was either in the wrong size and/or the wrong style. I am disgusted with this incompetence. I want a refund.

I am here to warn you never to purchase large ticket items or services through Home Depot. We spent weeks with the kitchen designer planning our kitchen from, pretty much, a blank canvas. In good faith, we installed plumbing, flooring, lighting, and gas lines based on the agreed-upon plans. The window, oven vent, light switch, and alarm pad were the only things installed when Home Depot sent their experts to measure the room, for which we were charged $125.
1) One entire wall of cabinets was measured incorrectly.
2) The upper cabinets did not fit where the oven vent was to be placed, thus, we had to pay to have the vent moved
3) The last cabinet covered the light switch and alarm pad that were in place when the room was measured so we had to pay to have the light switch & alarm pad moved.
4) The island was not planned correctly to seat two people and changes had to be made to the plan that extended the island far beyond where we planned, and we had to suck that up, too.
5) As for the quality and manufacturing process of the cabinets, at least 3 cabinet doors came with scratches, as if someone had scraped them with sandpaper.
6) At least 4 cabinet doors had gouges, similar to someone using a utility knife to open a box.
7) Over 30 doors have rails and stiles on the fronts that did not meet. We have since discovered, based on talking to other furniture makers, that this is due to an error in the manufacturing process.
We tried to work with the local HD, who sent one batch of doors back, only to get back replacement doors with similar problems. Then they got defensive and claimed we were the problem and that we wouldn't be happy with anything. These were very obvious problems that people who visited our home would point out to us.
We then sought assistance with HDs Customer Care Center in Georgia. They offered us $3,000 to keep what we had and go away. This didn't even begin to cover the costs we had incurred in preparing the room to meet their design specs, much less to fix their errors. We didn't think we had to eat up every cost. Our lawyer suggested we talk to them and negotiate for the amount that was closer to what we have spent. He also said he expected we'd be back because HD was a company that was too cocky in thinking they could railroad people. He also advised us to get written statements from independent furniture makers regarding the craftsmanship/manufacturing of the pieces we had received.
Well, he was right. HD in Georgia never bothered to even respond to our questions and comments about further negotiations and settlements. Well, they didn't think well take them to court, but we're ready. Just don't make the same mistake and do business with them. We had been loyal customers for over 25 years, but not anymore. What a shame. This would have been such a simple thing to work through and they could have left with an almost happy customer. They just didn't think very much of their customer so, I guess, I don't think very much of them now, either.

I remodeled my kitchen two years ago and went with Thomasville cabinets from Home Depot and used the Home Depot in store design service. I am still reeling from the nightmare of it all. I paid to have the Home Depot contractor come out and measure my kitchen space. The correct measurements were taken but the designer entered them incorrectly into the computer. The wrong size cabinets were ordered. Unfortunately, no one realized the mistake until my kitchen had been gutted and the contractor I had hired began the install. The designer promised to re-order the correct size cabinets and assured me it would take about a week to get them in.
After a week had gone by with no word on the cabinets, I contacted the store and was told it would take one month, not a week for the replacement cabinets. By this point I was livid. I was also 7 months pregnant and had been living with a kitchen that had been in shambles for weeks, which did not enhance my mood. Also, I ordered all new kitchen appliances and the designer did not bother to look at the measurements for them so the refrigerator did not fit at all. I had also ordered countertops from HD. I was planning to have my contractor install them as well.
The Home Depot designer did not inform me that walls are often not straight and that a template of my wall could have been made to insure the proper fit. I think if they did the template I would have had to pay extra or used their countertop installer which I would have probably done had I known. Needless to say there are huge gaps between the countertop and the wall because my walls were uneven. Another issue was that several cabinet doors were warped. I did actually order some additional decorative panels at a later date, however, despite talking to the same person I was quoted different prices for the same item in different conversations. I feel that the designers are very poorly trained and really have no credentials other than some on the job training. I would advise anyone hoping to save a buck on kitchen cabinets to shop around. Eventually the store did refund some of my money but it really did not make up for the stress of the experience nor was it enough to make me refer anyone to the business.

We are helping our son remodel his kitchen. We went to Home Depot at the end of October 2009. We had a meeting with a cabinet sales person, signed a contract, and paid for our cabinets. We used their contractor. He came out a week later. It took another week to get the cabinet plans back to Home Depot. By now, it was the end of November 2009, we got a call from Home Depot that the contractor and Home Depot did not communicate. He measured for the wrong line of cabinets. We thought Home Depot would expedite the order! Now we went through that same process again. By now, my son lost his roommate, no kitchen.
I finally was so frustrated I wrote a letter to Home Depot, I thought that would hurry things along, no. The cabinets finally came on December 30th and that was only after I got on the phone and made them commit to a delivery day. When the installer came to install them on January 4, 2010, one cabinet did not get ordered. Again, we are at a stand still. We have had to stall appliance delivery, tile workers, and finish with the carpenters. It has been a nightmare! At this point it could take another month. Home Depot hasn't offered to expedite the order. As of today, they still have not placed the order.

I ordered and purchased $1,500 of cabinets from the Home Depot in Amsterdam, NY. As a contractor, I used the quoted price for the job and purchased these cabinets at this price. Three weeks later, the salesman called back and told me that the cabinets were no longer available in Maple and I would have to pay an additional $1,000 for those cabinets. Now if they had called and told me the same thing a couple of days after I ordered them and explained that they screwed up, it wouldn't be a big deal. But I have this job scheduled and have tile coming as well.
They told me three weeks the cabinets would be in. Now they tell me I have to pay an additional $1,000 and wait another 3 weeks. Why should I eat $1,000 of my money for their mistake? Not to mention, how could a Home Depot not have this information about a product when it's priced and purchased on their computer system? Then try to tell me the vendor just told them about three weeks later.

I recently purchased quartz (Silestone) countertops for my kitchen. My husband and I are tackling the jobs we can and hiring out the ones that are above our pay grade. We didn't feel confident trying to install countertops, so after 1 year of research and questioning many Home Depot kitchen experts at more than 1 location, we decided on the Silestone quartz. The biggest selling point and emphasized by everyone at Home Depot is that the quartz is manmade and therefore there is a consistent look to the entire area. We weren't told that this might include "voids" which in our case are large (bigger than a quarter) white areas. Since our countertops are primarily black, these really stand out. After having the district guy over installation come out and inspect the counters, he left us with the impression that the tops would be replaced. He admitted that the spots jumped out at him the minute he walked into the kitchen and he could certainly see why we were not happy.
He called 3 days later to tell us "there was nothing he could do." Well, at this point, we don't have any recourse at all because Home Depot requires that you pay in full before they'll even come out and measure. I have to admit that I had second thoughts when the lady said I had to pay in full before they would even come measure. But she was very persuasive, and I ignored my gut response to run like crazy. We have spent 2 years and a lot of money on redoing our kitchen. Not I just was to cry every time I go in there. Home Depot's answer was to offer me an "appearance allowance" of $500. That means I still spent $2,500 on countertops I don't like and look awful.
There are several other things the installers failed to do properly. Guess we'll see if they get fixed. We have been long-time customers of Home Depot, but I'll never buy anything larger than a screw there again. As much as I dislike Lowe's, they are my new favorite home supply store. The company that provided and installed the counters was Stone Systems, Inc. in Dallas, and when their supervisor came out, he basically told me "Tough bananas. You're stuck with it because we aren't going to replace it."
While everyone with Home Depot management and with Stone Systems, Inc. keeps telling me these voids are normal and in every piece of stone they pour, I think Home Depot should take responsibility when their salespeople don't give you accurate information or give your inaccurate information just to make a sale. I have since started looking at this type counters when I am in the public, and I have as yet to see one with "voids" in it, which tells me that they just don't want to take responsibility for messing up.
And the guy from Home Depot said he "doesn't want to lose me as a customer." Too late. My advice is 1) don't use Home Depot for any large purchases, and 2) if you have to use them, research the company that will actually do the work. My guess is that they won't tell you what the company name is.

I really regret purchasing & prepaying for counter tops from Home Depot. I paid $4500 (purchased during 10% off sale). I would have spent the extra money to go to granite specialists that meet with you, coordinate your counter top order, come out to prepare template, install and communicate with you. My order was severely delayed and Home Depot & their subcontractor, Continental Surfaces, Route 8, Pittsburgh, PA, kept pointing the finger at each other. It was the worst communication ever. The sub says they'll call you back and they don't. It was horrible service. Then the install - they damaged the counter during delivery and tried to force me to take the damaged product. I called Home Depot to complain & they sent my call to their sub's project coordinator- who tried to strong arm me into installing it! I had to tell the installers there was no way I would allow them to install that piece in my home and I was rejecting it. The project coordinator was a bully!
Home Depot didn't want to deal with it at all! And they are responsible for the subs they hire! The island piece they installed was polished poorly - the corners and edges are a mess. There are also white caulking & shims showing from underneath the counter top. The slab is bowed in the middle. The list goes on. I want to cancel the entire order, contact the BBB and order from a much more reputable granite company. Home Depot & their subs need to remember that we are the customers and we paid them to service us, not the other way around!

I purchased specially ordered kitchen cabinets and major appliances from the Home Depot in March 2009. The cabinets arrived and were installed in May 2009. Two months later, we began to notice that the color of several of the doors had began to change and get very dark. Then when the granite countertop finally came and was installed, a few days later we could not open or close most of the drawers. In August 2009, we went to Home Depot and met with Mr. Darick **, who is in charge of the kitchen cabinet section and a week later, he came to our home and inspected the cabinets. He confirmed that the wood was defective and said he would order several new doors and drawers.
It is November and we have not heard a word from anyone in Home Depot. We have tried to contact Mr. ** but he never seems to be in his office. We want Home Depot to do the right thing and get us the kitchen we paid so much for.

We are redoing a kitchen and selected some backsplash tile from Home Depot. They said they had 'lots' in stock, so we went back to get it 2 days later. They didn't even have enough to do a 50-sq. ft. kitchen which is very little. They directed us to another Home Depot some distance away after checking on their computer to make sure they had the same tile in stock. My husband went there, and they did have the tile in stock. When they were piling the 5 boxes of tile, he noticed some were chipped. After opening all the boxes, he was only able to find 10 tiles in total that were in good shape; all the others were badly chipped. People, beware. Check the boxes before buying. It might be difficult to prove they were already broken after taking them from the store. Now we will go to 'Rona' or 'Lowe's' for our tile. We've had many bad experiences with 'Home Depot' with one thing and another - too many to address in this forum.
