I purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator in 2011 model number LGHN2844mFO from Lowe's. The ice maker went out within three months of purchase and I called in for repair. The repairman that came out said that it was an easy fix. He ordered a part, came back in a week and my ice maker started working again. Fast forward a few months, again the ice maker stops working, called in and a repairman is sent out who says I need a new ice maker. Part is ordered, a couple weeks later installed. Again I have ice. Refrigerator starts to make noise, call repairman, he comes out and says there has been an issue with this model and there is a fix. Part is ordered and put in, again I have ice. Ice maker stops making ice, I call but this time I'm told I will have to pay because the warranty is up and it's not their problem. Now I have a refrigerator that makes no ice and everyone I speak to says that there is no fix. My last refrigerator lasted fifteen years and went with my house when I sold it. Not moving anytime soon, so stuck using ice trays and not happy with Frigidaire's customer service. I tell everyone I know this is not a company to trust.

I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery French Door refrigerator (LGUB2642LF3) in May, 2011. The unit comes with an upper ice maker that dispenses water and cubed or crushed ice as well as a lower ice maker bin in the freezer area. First service call was for no ice making capability. Reason was that the seal was not installed on the freezer properly causing an air leak. Replaced seal and ice makers began working. This was covered under manufacturers 1 year warranty. Purchased the extended warranty and during the second year the upper ice maker stopped working. Reason was fan motor was icing up and compartment failed to cool. Two service calls and repair seemed to hold for about a year. In April, 2014, upper ice maker quit making ice again. Service call rebuilt upper ice maker components. I paid $289 for labor for appliance repair. I complained to Electrolux and they covered the parts cost. At this point the extended warranty period has expired.
In October, 2014, again the upper ice maker is making a very loud buzzing noise, most likely to ice building up again. The unit is making ice, but the noise is becoming quite loud and disturbing. My youngest was considering coming home from college for the weekend, but inquired if the refrigerator was fixed before he made a decision to spend the weekend at home. In my opinion there is a manufacturers problem with this ice maker and I believe that Electrolux is aware of the problem since I understand that they do not make this model of ice maker any longer. The appliance service wants to charge me $300 for another repair and has indicated it will only be temporary fix. I am seriously considering unplugging upper ice maker at this point since no permanent solution has been provided to me.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Model FGUI2149LP1 - Purchased 7-6-2011 (from Sears), paid extra for a 3 year extended warranty. During 3 years had repairs needed for ice maker, freezer compartment freezing over, ice melting together in tray, etc. Each service call they did everything, replaced filter, back freezer compartment insulation, door seal, gasket, then the 4th call replaced the ice maker. My 3 year extended warranty ended this July. Now my new ice maker QUIT altogether. I even wrote the president of Sears about the problems but he didn't have the courtesy to respond. This Frigidaire is a real LEMON!!! I think there should be a recall after reading all the other reviews with the same problems.

Purchased a kitchen full of new Frigidaire appliances in November 2012. Within 3 months the ice maker stopped working. Have had 3 additional service calls which gets it running again but then it stops working after a short period of time. Now they can't even get it working. Frigidaire refuses to do anything about it even though it was serviced by frigidaire authorized service reps each time. I wrote a letter to the CEO of Electrolux, their parent company, but didn't even get a response. Carlisle Electronics in Carlisle, Pa where it was purchased also refuses to do anything. This is the last Frigidaire product any of my family or friends will purchase. I've made sure of that.

Purchased new Frigidaire French door frig two years ago. 6 weeks ago we noticed that the top of the inside frig above the two inside lights was cracked. Not just a little, but a good 3 inches long. Called for service where I purchased the frig and they came out and told me that they would submit info to Electrolux and call me back. Well, Electrolux is refusing the repair or replace refrig. They claim that it is passed warranty period. I purchased extended 5 years warranty plan, but this is not covered under plan. I told them that since there is a repair kit available for this problem they are fully aware that there is an issue with the design/engineering; otherwise, why have a kit available? The most they would do was offer me a 50% discount on the parts, but nothing off on the labor!!!! Are you kidding me....? They know they have an issue and they are not willing to stand by their product!!

I recently purchased a new fridge. We were moving into a new house. When we moved in and got it set up, we discovered all our food had gone bad and it did not work from day one. We called the brick and apparently they cant do anything. We were told it was on recall and needed parts so another couple weeks of waiting. Finally someone came out and put in the recall part. Days later again, all our food was bad (now hundreds of dollars wasted.) They said it needed two more kits. Whatever that means. Another few weeks before they could send someone with the parts. And once again same thing, all food spoiled and a broken fridge. I am 8 months pregnant and struggling to maintain a healthy diet. It has been months since I have had a fridge. They still wont do anything for me. I am so upset and starting to have a hard time with my pregnancy since I can't eat proper and am so stressed out. I just don't know what to do and need some help.

We purchased our Frigidaire refrigerator in October in 2013. August 2014, the ice maker completely quit so we called in the repair. The technician came out and just replaced the entire unit with not as much as an issue. So far so good, now we come to October 2014 and the ice maker dies AGAIN. So I go to the website, call the 800 number to be told via phone tree hell that there is a different number for repairs. I call that number. The gentleman looks up our account and tells me that the repair is not covered as we are just out of our warranty period on the fridge but we can buy an extended warranty to cover it.
Whoa whoa whoa buddy, so the part that was originally replaced with another defective part is not covered? After a few minutes he says, "yes, we will concession (really???) the part but you are going to have to pay for the labor." "WHAT?! I have to pay for the defective part your contractor installed to replace the original defective part?" "Well I can check with my supervisor"... oh yes you will. After ten minutes on hold he comes back and pitches the extended warranty to me again.... Oh and yes, they will cover parts and labor on this repair as well. Though this is the last time. Really? We went with this brand because they had a reputation for lasting forever. I will not buy another product from these guys.

I remodeled our kitchen four years ago and purchased all Frigidaire appliances. Stainless Steel dishwasher, microwave, stove and refrigerator. I thought I was buying quality products. We spent thousands of dollars on these appliances and after only four years we have had problems with all but the stove. One year warranty and you're out of luck. Don't even bother trying to call customer service for support. Stay away from Frigidaire, they're junk! Shelves fall out on door of fridge, dishwasher leaks, racks in dishwasher don't hold plates or glassware secure causing them to get chipped, Ice maker wont shut off when bin is full and I've replaced the water supply valve twice in four years for the ice maker! Microwave had to be repaired by service man in the first week after we bought it!

Frigidaire FPRH19D7LF1 - In May 2012 I purchased this unit along with a matching freezer and the trim kit for our new building. In September 2014 the refrigerator quit. The authorized repairman found that the coolant had leaked out. But the unit cannot be recharged because the compressor etc… also needs replaced due to it being 'burnt' or locked up. AND… even if this unit were to be replaced, it might turn out that the leak is 'internal'. In other words, someplace other than the compressor unit and in another year or year and one half, the same problem will occur. The cost is $575.00 to replace the compressor unit. The cost of the initial visit was $85.00. I reached out to Frigidaire several times but to no avail. There is only a one year warranty on the product (In the place I moved from there are 2 refrigerators, both more than 12 years old).
Initially, I was told by the Frigidaire rep that the company would give me a discount on the parts. Then three weeks later they told me that the person who gave me that information misspoke, that since the parts I needed were 'functional' parts there could be no discount. I wanted her to make clear what ‘functional’ parts meant. If I needed a gasket or a handle then I would get a 10% discount… but not on 'moving' parts, so to speak. As it turns out, I do not want to fix it as there is no guarantee that it won't continue to leak the coolant gas. What bothers me is that this was a factory problem.
Only one person is living in this new building and he has only been there for 16 months. This problem is not from use or abuse. Now my options are: buy another of the same unit, or get rid of the matching freezer and trim kit. I simply think that Frigidaire should step up and make good. Certainly I won't venture near their products again, and I realize they make appliances for different companies. I am doing my research.

I purchased a new side by side refrigerator and electric range on August 25th, 2014, both manufactured by FRIGIDAIRE. Approximately 1 month later the handle for the range oven broke off in my hand. I called Frigidaire and they shipped me a new handle which I received about 10 days later. While waiting for the oven door handle, the handle fell off the refrigerator door. I called Frigidaire and they sent a service company (Big Kountry Appliance Repair) out approx 1 week. I attempted to install the oven door handle but had no way to tighten the screws to the handle.
The day the service company was to come I called Frigidaire and told them about not being to tighten the oven door handle screws and they told me to tell the appliance repair company when they come to fix the refrigerator door to tighten the oven door handle screws also. These screws do not have a normal head to tighten is the reason I could not get them tight enough. The repairman from Big Kountry Appliance refused to tighten them up.
When I called back in to Frigidaire they refused to do anything about this problem and became very rude on the phone. FRIGIDAIRE brags about being the last company that manufacturers appliances in the United States but if you press them, they will tell you most of the parts are manufactured in Mexico and only assembled in North Carolina. I could and would not recommend purchasing anything from Frigidaire!!!!!

I had originally purchased a side by side refrigerator from Sears. Sears does not stand behind Frigidaire so I began working directly with Frigidaire (Which ended up being owned by Electrolux). After many, many phone calls that only used delay tactics, I was able to get to a representative of Electrolux who conceded that Ice spewing out of the back of the refrigerator was an unacceptable condition. He sent me an email with a rebate offer for purchasing another Frigidaire. This time I went to Lowe's because they had a good extended warranty and found one on sale.
I completed all of the forms requested which included the rebate email, copy of the new purchase receipt, Warranty card for the new appliance, and the Serial tag from the failed appliance. I was told it could take 2 to three weeks. That was in July 2014. On September 10th they had no record of receiving it so I resent copies of the original mailing. I also sent copies to the "manager at Electrolux" so he would know that nothing had been received.
It is now October 20th and I have no response from the Company. The only reason I agreed to purchase another Frigidaire product was that the rest of my kitchen matched since I had purchased an Oven, Microwave, and a dishwasher from the same line. Big mistake!!! It appears that no one at this company will try to resolve the issue or return my calls, letters or emails. I see many others have the same problem. Something should be done!

Do not buy any appliances from this company! You will so spend much more money over time replacing all the parts that will randomly break as a result of poorly made products. After speaking with DASHEN the supervisor, he only offered 20% off parts. Really? My Refrigerator and Gas stove have both broke only after 3 years. I actually have a basket for all the parts that randomly fell out of my Frigidaire Refrigerator (Gallery Products). I also just spent over $400 on parts to fix my Frigidaire Gas Stove. I hate these products with a passion. This company has the worst customer service and products on the market. Trust me!
Not only will you waste money, but more importantly the precious time you will spend on the phone complaining about the product and getting nowhere (also the time wasted writing a review). I would rather use a wood-burning stove to cook my food from the early 1900's and an ice bucket to chill my food vs. using appliances made by Frigidaire. Hope this review prevents someone from encountering an appliance nightmare...

We purchased gallery Model at Lowes in 2012. It did not last two days. We thought it was a fluke. Lowe's was kind enough to give us a new one and delivered and set it up. About six months ago it started putting out plastic and insulation in the upper ice maker and then it started making funny noises. Today it totally stopped doing anything. I went to Lowe's and spoke with the appliance manager who told me there was nothing they could do. He gave me the Toll free number to call that was open 24/7. Not true they are only open 8 to five, weekdays only. My advice is... NEVER BUY ANOTHER POS like this again. It's made in Mexico and it is not made for the long haul. FRT18HS6JW5 - We received a Frigidaire replacement fridge over 1 years ago, and within 3 months the plastics (bins, drawer guides, shelf supports, door shelves), even though we treated it fairly gently, started getting brittle and cracking. Of course, there is only a 1-year warranty on it. It has now gotten to the point that so many of the plastic parts are broken that we have asked the landlord to replace the thing (in addition to the self-destructing plastics the fridge has been leaking water).
Our landlord has accused us of willful damage to his property, and has threatened to make us pay for damage to the fridge. Why did this happen? Is there a design flaw with the flood of complaints I see online, it seems there should be a recall. Is there a recall? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Is this a common problem with all Electrolux fridge plastics?

The water would splash out, run down behind the inner wall of the freezer and eventually freeze the fan. It would start making a loud noise and within a few hours would lock the fan frozen causing the entire fridge to shut down. This then would lead to other malfunctions with circuit boards, etc. Our repairman, whom has come very familiar with us these past 4 years, says this is one of the poorest made mechanisms he has seen during his years of working on appliances. I have to say I will never buy another Frigidaire appliance after this experience. I've never had this much problem with any appliance, ever.

In 2011, I bought a Frigidaire Gallery side-by-side fridge with the freezer on the bottom. The ice maker went out the first year. It was repaired at no cost because fridge was still under warranty. It has always made a horrible noise that could be heard throughout the house - no kidding. The next year, the handle on the freezer section broke. The ice maker freezes up to the point it will not dispense ice. I had to unthaw the compartment to get it open to dump the ice chunks that the auger could not break up. This happened a number of times. A few days ago, I was getting some ice and the whole fridge shut down. I thought the stalled ice maker blew a breaker. No such luck - it blew the motherboard. I am a service tech but you do not need to be one to know that Frigidaire products are pure unadulterated garbage. My wife bought this without my knowledge. She has buyer's remorse as perhaps do all of you that I've been reading in this forum. My advice to anyone thinking about buying Frigidaire products is "buyer beware".

Purchased Frigidaire Gallery FGUN2642LF6 with french doors, freezer on the bottom, November 2012. Since it was installed, when you open the freezer portion with ice maker in it and pull the top rack forward to get some ice, the ice bucket gets too full and ice stacks up around the metal arm and spills ice out the back and slides onto the floor. If that isn't a nuisance enough, the metal arm sends the ice from the overflowing icemaker onto the track of the top basket. Jams the track so that you unknowingly don't close the freezer all the way. After a while, since the freezer doesn't close all the way, the contents of the freezer start to thaw. We thought maybe we had too much weight in the baskets but even with just a few items in the top and bottom racks, the problem persists. Serviceman looked at it and was dumbfounded as what we could do to repair the problem. I'm done with Frigidaire.

Long-time Frigidaire owner. This was a gift from family. They asked what kind of fridge we wanted. After looking at appliances, reading reviews and considering my personal experience, I requested this refrigerator (FFHI1817LBA). I'd read reviews about noisy compressors. I'd never experienced that, personally. Now I have. After 90 days, I found frost in my frost-free freezer. I mentioned it to my husband and he said maybe he didn't close the door, firmly. After I wiped it down, it reappeared. My husband grabbed a beer and asked me if I had adjusted the temp in the fridge. That's when I said I hadn't heard the noisy compressor, in about a day.
On the upside, our fridge holds a temp for about 3 days. On the downside, I would say the loud compressor is indicative of future problems. The cardboard to access the compressor should have been my first clue. It was bent during delivery. Why cardboard? My previous models had a solid back. Makes me think Frigidaire already knew the compressor was faulty and would need immediate service. I expect more than 90 days from an appliance and cardboard doesn't bode well. I wasn't looking for the least expensive refrigerator. I was looking for a fridge that fit my space and our needs. I probably won't buy another and I don't recommend this fridge, anymore. This really makes me wonder about my choice.

In that eight years we had two repairs on the fridge, running us total of $400 then last year the motor blew up which was a bad thing but also a good thing. We had to purchase another refrigerator, but our electricity bill dropped from $400 a month to $80 a month, so now we know that the fridge was continuously running and that caused our electricity bill to go through the roof so not only did we pay that extra money for a electricity, we also had to buy another fridge that was $3000, so I feel like we really got ripped off from Frigidaire.

Frigidaire sent out a repair person, they fixed it, so to speak. 2 days later same thing happened. Again they sent a repairman. They fixed it. 2 days later same thing. Again they sent out a repairman. Then I was told they installed the wrong part, and needed a different. Long story short, they replace the entire refrigerator.
Then the water tap did not work, water just trickled out. Again the refrigerator was replace. This one seems to work ok until after about six months. I discovered it leaked at the bottom of the freezer and built up ice. I called Frigidaire again, customer service was of zero help... I finally got so fed up with their antics, excuses, lame rhetoric. I gave up. I hope lots of people read this and stay away from the horrible product. By the way Frigidaire is made by Electrolux. From the first night we noticed that the refrigerator was quite loud. The ice maker sounds like it's breaking and we have to check it throughout the day because it will just keep making ice until it's so full that it jams and it still tries to make more. You have to lift the lever manually to stop it. If you don't it grinds and pops and will fill the whole freezer with ice. Other than that it works well. The other big problem is the stainless steel doors. I only clean them with stainless steel cleaner. But about a month into having it, it began to rust.
I called Frigidaire to see what they could do about this. They asked if I lived close to water. It's a refrigerator. It's going to be near water, I said. They said there was nothing they could do. I'm not at all happy. I will not buy Frigidaire products anymore. Mainly due to the fact that they did nothing to rectify the situation.

For obvious reasons, I kept the broken one until new fridge arrived one week later. Now 2 years later, the fridge temp goes up to 57 & freezer 13 degrees. After reading the manual, my husband tried unplugging & reset the controls. Called repairman to come out July 4th weekend & told it needs a new motor. One was ordered & to be installed the following Monday.
I threw all food out & Monday morning it was working - both fridge at 37 degrees & freezer at 0. Called repairman & he said to use it since it was working. He wasn't going to put a new motor in a 2-yr-old appliance if it is now working, but to call if it stopped cooling again. Two weeks later, it stopped again. Fridge up to 57 & freezer at 10. Repairman coming tomorrow with NEW motor. There is only myself & my husband so this appliance doesn't get used that hard. I'm so disappointed after paying over $2,000 for a new fridge to be putting all this money into it.

I always owned Frigidaire refrigerators so it came as no surprise when I remodeled my kitchen, I would purchase a modern Frigidaire to replace a perfectly good (albeit outdated) Frigidaire. The Model 253FGHF2378ME was a side by side refrigerator with a freezer at the bottom and an automatic water/ice/crushed-ice dispenser on the front door.
Within 2 years the crushed ice dispenser started to expel styrofoam along with crushed ice, and shortly thereafter, a large chunk of plastic after which it no longer produced crushed ice at all. Also within the same 2 years, the ice dispenser would just strain sometimes. One day after filling three glasses with cube ice, the refrigerator simply stopped and there was a code "SY-CF" flashing on the display at the front door. I looked that up and it stands for System Communications Failure. It seemed that the straining ice motor blew out the motherboard.
So I called for service and here's the killer, NO ONE - and I mean NO ONE was available for several days. All the food in the refrigerator went bad and neither Frigidaire nor Sears puts any priority on a refrigerator failure. That means that the 2-YEAR OLD, $2,800.00 refrigerator not only spoiled about $400.00 worth of food, but is going to cost a minimum of $400.00 to fix.
I'm not some angry soul that will tell anyone not to ever buy a Frigidaire appliance, or to buy anything from Sears, that is up to you to decide. I sure won't though.

Less than 1 year after purchase of refrigerator we heard a sizzling noise and found a lot of water under the crispers. Repairman came and told us the water drain was plugged. I asked why. He said that with a refrigerator only that small particles of food get in the drain and plug it. He described it just like a sink but that you cannot put anything but water down the fridge drain and water won't unplug it. He pulled out what looked like a large bug from the water line. I asked if it could be prevented and he said no.
Then I asked if it would happen again and he said probably. Why does this happen and his answer was that with a freezer the small particles of food are killed because of the low temp and will go through the drain, but they are not killed with all refrigerators so accumulate and plug the drain. Because of the water not draining we also have water on our hardwood floor that has rotted the floor. Repairman said to call Frigidaire about our floor. I cannot recommend this refrigerator. I purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator in Nov 2011 and the water filter needed to be changed so I ordered one and it was fine. Almost a year later, it needed to be replaced and I ordered one and it was fine. Again, it needed to be replaced and I ordered one but this time it did not fit. I could put the filter in but it would not snap in place. I contacted Frigidaire and they sent me the same filter and it did not fit. So... now, here it is, a year later from the first service call, and I still don't have a filter. It appears Frigidaire changed the bracket on the housing for the filter and my refrigerator needs to be corrected, but at my cost they said.
So, I ask you out there, is anyone else having this problem? It appears Frigidaire changes their parts and then makes the consumer pay for correcting the appliance to fit their newly designed parts. This seems unethical and it gives Frigidaire incentive to continually change their parts. In conclusion, I have not replaced the filter in over a year and I refuse to pay for a situation that Frigidaire created in the first place. Does anyone out there have advice for me? I'm really frustrated and have all Frigidaire appliances. This sickens me if this is their solution to problems.

I would clean them off but new icicles would start forming, measuring about an inch in 7 to 10 days. Frigidaire's repair service determined the freezer door seal needed to be replaced. It took 5 appointments, 3 months and 3 days for them to replace the seal. By then, it was winter and the humidity was low, so there was only light frosting just inside the door. Once the weather turned warm and humid, the icicles started forming again. I called Frigidaire to see if anything could be done.
I never could actually speak to a human being. I did a search on their website and apparently so many people are having the same problem that Frigidaire has decided to "spin" the ice build up problem as operator error stating that ice in the freezer is because the "door has been opened frequently or for too long." It's funny that none of my previous refrigerators over the past 35 years has ever had this problem. But now that I own a Frigidaire, it's suddenly "operator error?" You can't even get them to respond to your emails and when you call the 800 number, they give you another number which is not toll free only to tell you that the call volume is high and to call back. Terrible, terrible customer service.

No one should buy this brand. Unfortunately I bought two the same year. 2011, we bought a Gallery line refrigerator. The ice maker had to be repaired within the first month then the light bulb burnt a hole in the lining in the back of the top of the refrigerator just after the warranty ran out and they would do nothing about it. Still fearful to this day going to catch on fire. The filter leaked and filled the bottom of the refrigerator up and it froze. Why? Because the filter froze up as we used the water line it was leaking. Now the ice maker is out again, no ice and it's making a lot of noises... This was our dream to own this style (French doors) and now we have to live with this terrible mistake, and our microwave is worse! Heat food but then it doesn't rotate ever. I only wish they would refund our money because they are at fault. I hope this keeps everyone considering buying Frigidaire to think twice and don't do it.

Side-by-side refrigerator purchased Sept. 2012. Problems: Dec. 2012. Found filter had been leaking inside refrigerator and warped laminate flooring also. Were told we needed to purchase a by-pass if didn't want to purchase $60 replacement filter every 6 months. Purchased and installed by-pass. Still leaked, so put bowl inside refrigerator to catch water. No joke - on almost new, $1,200 appliance. Dec. 2013. cooling stopped - Frigidaire sent repair and said was relay switch. Replaced it. Dec. 2013.
Feb 2014, cooling stopped again - Frigidaire sent repair, but told the only way it would be covered was if we bought a 2-year extended warranty for $195.00. Did that. They said would forego 1 month normal wait period on extended warranty. After sending repair and found there were 3 separate things wrong with it, suddenly they would cover it, but outside of extended warranty. Part of extended warranty is that after 3 repairs, Frigidaire would deem it to be a bad machine and would replace it. Thus the 3 repairs rule would begin only after the current repairs are completed. REALLY? That's not what we were told before buying the extended warranty. Repair came out 2-28-14. Was told by repair service that parts were ordered on 2-28-14.
Today, 3-3-14, was told by repair service that no parts ordered as they have to send a seal system tech out to check something again. He's coming 3-6-14. once he comes, will take 5-10 working days to get parts in. That's as much as 2 weeks longer for repairs to be made. This comes to 3 weeks without refrigerator. Have been lied to and deceived by middle to upper management by Frigidaire, including their supplied repair service. This is totally absurd and we're beyond fried. Always thought Frigidaire was a good company with good product. NO MORE.

Gallery series refrigerator is 9 months old and the door handle broke at the first screw - like others complaints on the internet. Frigidaire is sending me a new one to install myself as "a good will gesture" because they do not warrant "cosmetic non-functional" parts. I bought a refrigerator with a handle and must admit it looked better and the door opened easier before it broke and fell off. I am an old lady, no kids in the house, nobody else uses it and I am pretty easy on it. I think Frigidaire has a mfr defect that needs to be addressed.

I garden and put a lot of produce in my refrigerator, so perhaps over loaded the shelf, though I never broke a shelf in my previous unit that was 15 years old and I put 20 pounds of blueberries in it once. Really frustrating to know that so many other people have experienced the same issues with the Frigidaire Gallery series. The repair guy just left my house AGAIN. Installed a brand new ice maker last week (2nd one in a little over a year), but it still doesn't work. He came back today to fix it. Tried calling Frigidaire for assistance but their office is closed due to inclement weather. So, now he has to come back on Friday. This will be the 4th trip for this one issue. Prior to leaving, he noticed the factory appliance bulbs had melted the ceiling of the refrigerator. He said this could be the root of the problem with the ice maker not freezing - something about impacting the integrity of the box. Said he plans to discuss with Frigidaire if he can ever get them on the phone.
Anyway, now that I'm reading stories of smoke and fires, I'm worried to death. I've also had issues with the microwave and dishwasher. Ridiculous. I too will NEVER buy Frigidaire appliances again. I just wish there was something that could be done about this. With so many people having the same issue, is the company really not going to stand behind their very expensive products? I will warn people of the Frigidaire scam on every blog and consumer reports site I can find. People work too hard and pay too much money for appliances to crap out after just a couple of years.

He said the owner of the building, who also owns a hardware store jokingly said that I must be real "hungry" that is why I keep breaking the door. I have never had this problem before and I will admit, it was making me look a little crazy.
While I was away for 6 weeks, the door broke again at the top just as before while my roommate opened the door. She had to admit that I was not crazy. I contacted the maintenance man once again and he said the owner said he is going to charge us this time. In effort to prove that we are not ladies with super strength, I googled "broken refrigerator door handle" and the Frigidaire comments popped up. I even noticed that my door handle is a bestseller on Amazon. Clearly this is a defect in the design. To my horror it happened while we were fully stocked with food and everything was lost because we were dealing with sickness and then a death in the family... out of town. Therefore, we lost big. I believe there is something wrong since there are a number of complaints. I really need your help. I believe this is a manufacturing issue. This is absolutely unacceptable to pay about $2,000 or more for a refrigerator and in this short period of time it quits.
We have made calls regarding repairs and are told it may cost $500 to $600 but no one has actually physically serviced our refrigerator but they are skeptical about what it requires, but most have said it is the compressor. My refrigerator will come on but it will not cool or freeze. I do not know how to send a picture but it is stainless steel and it looks almost new. About one minute later it literally blew up and shattered in a million pieces, scattered all over the kitchen floor. The noise was loud. I purchased it in May 2013. I called Frigidaire toll free number that after a wait gives you another number to call for customer service, NOT TOLL FREE. After waiting a few minutes on that line they came in and said high volume. Called the store I purchased it from and talked to customer service.
They researched for me and said the warranty and extended 5 year warranty didn't cover the shelf because it was cosmetic???? I read the warranty and couldn't see where it says that. This shelf apparently is a factory defect. It could have done harm when it shattered if I had been closer. I can see the headlines - "Refrigerator attacks 75 year old grandmother". We called the store where we purchased this product. They gave us 3 repair people. One showed up, stated the compressor was gone. It was a 4+ hour job and would probably take 1-2 weeks to get the part and come back to repair it. We called Electrolux to ask how to resolve this in a timely fashion. They stated they might be able to get a compressor to us sooner but they couldn't provide anyone to repair it. We ended up going to another store to buy a different fridge for our tenants. We asked for a refund since it was less than a year old and we had purchased an extended warranty. We have yet to hear back from them. The repair person did say they no longer manufacture these in America, it's made either in China or Mexico depending on the make and model. NEVER waste your money on a Frigidaire appliance or for that matter anything that Electrolux is involved in. All of their products are manufactured elsewhere.

Repairman came out and replaced the compressor and the evaporator. All is well for the next 4 months. Then the freezer half quits working. A lot of beef and other items gone (about another $100.00). The repairman returns on 10/14/13 and recharges the system with Freon and tells me there is a leak in the internal condenser line, and that this is a short term fix. And that this is a non-repairable unit.
After numerous calls to Frigidaire by the repairman and me, Frigidaire refuses to replace this refrigerator. And a refund is definitely out of the question. But they did offer to extend the warranty for 12 months. So the repairman will be returning on 10/23/13. Third time in 6 months to install some kind of kit. Not the top of the line, but a step down and almost $3000. The ice maker worked for less than 1 week. Had trouble getting service. Was told I lived in a rural area. My thought, if you can't service a product in a rural area, don't sell product in a rural area. At any rate, the "certified" repairman used electrical tape to repair and then said he would check to see if the part needed replacing. I didn't hear back, so thought it was okay. It went out again in less than a year (still under warranty, thank goodness). This time, they said part couldn't be replaced and replaced the entire refrigerator.
From delivery, the freezer didn't work. Their helpful customer service people told me to use a hairdryer to warm the gasket so it would fit. No help, then I was told to use Vaseline to soften the gasket. Then I was told they would send me a new gasket for me to replace the old one. I refused. They sent a serviceman, but said they couldn't send a gasket with him because that might not be the problem. Serviceman came and said, "Yes, it was the gasket," but he would have to order a new gasket and come back again. Well he came, took the door off, scattered parts all over my kitchen floor, put it back together badly and still the freezer didn't work. That serviceman would no longer return my calls.
Finally, found a service man who seems to know what he is doing and he replaced the gasket again, yes that is correct. Later the freezer quit working again. I called and the same good serviceman came. He told me the freezer drawer was off track. I asked how that happened. He said maybe I loaded it heavier on one side than the other. So ladies, weigh those packages before placing in the freezer. I guess I went without major problems for 6 months and now the ice maker is out again. I will try to make this short but I feel I need to give a little background to make our attitudes and disappointment understandable. After years of saving and planning, we underwent a major kitchen remodel in the summer of 2011. This was a gutting of everything from the floor to the ceiling lights, including new nice pricey appliances. We purchased Frigidaire appliances, slip in stove, dishwasher, microwave, and the in question refrigerator. They were all the Gallery series. We bought them at HHGregg in Florence KY. The appliances alone were in the thousands of dollars. Because the kids are grown and gone, we thought use would be minimal and we did not purchase the extended warranty offered.
Recently there was an issue with the ice maker. It was discharging large chunks of ice and getting jammed up in the discharge. Running the ice maker sounded horrible and I stopped using it and set up an appointment with a repair company. This past Sunday, 8/25/13, I noticed in the morning there was no power to the fridge at all. The console lights were out and there were no lights in the interior. I checked circuit breakers and the outlet power and all were found to be okay. We decided to call the repair company and spring for an emergency visit (Sunday) because we had just gone to the grocery the day before and it was loaded with our nourishment for two weeks. The repairman showed up and took a look and said we needed two computers, a condenser motor, an ice maker, and a sensor. Total cost approaching $1000.00. We looked in the manual provided but the console in the manual did not match the actual console. Sloppy to say the least.
To spend $1000.00 on a used refrigerator sounded crazy to me so we went out Sunday night and bought a new one (LG). To most folks, expecting a refrigerator to last 10 years is very reasonable. Since we paid $1500.00 for it, that would make it worth about $150.00 per year for our use. It worked 2 years, net we got $300.00 worth of use out of it and they owe us $1200.00. No, I am not a drinker!
I just talked to Frigidaire customer service (Jennifer). She acknowledged Frigidaire's responsibility by offering to pay for parts. But refused to pay me for the parts (my guess is about$400.00), which would be desired since we had to go out and buy a new refrigerator over the weekend. Why can they afford to pay a service outfit for parts but not the customer? A shirt and tie policy that clearly doesn't have the customers' desires in mind.
Frigidaire should remember us baby boomers have been around long enough to remember when quality meant something and was rewarded by repeat purchases. Frigidaire has decided to sacrifice both quality and customer service on this deal. I hope they think of that when my Mexican import is placed in the city dump tomorrow.

On 01/02/2013 I purchased a refrigerator from Lowe's in Raynham, Model LGHT2137LP Serial Number 4A23303155. Here are the facts: In March the refrigerator door handle broke right at the top were the screws meet the door. I called Lowe's and they replaced it for me on 3/27/2013. On 5/20/2013 the same thing happened in the same spot. I spoke with Lowe's and they said to call Frigidaire and I did. Nicole in Customer Service really couldn't help. She said she would send me the part and I can put on. I explained I have no idea how to do something like that. She gave me to Sup. ** and she told me they would send a repair company out and I would have to pay for it. I explained the situation and she waived the service charge. I appreciated that and Apollo Appliance Repair came out on 6/02/2013 and replaced the handle once again.
Now on 8/3/2013 I noticed the handle was broken again in the same spot. I called Frigidaire and Alex answered and once again explained what was happening. I asked for a Sup (I was on hold for 10 mins. waiting for a Sup). Corp. Sup. ** came on the line and I again explained what had happened. She said she will send me the part and I asked her to send out a repair man as I have no idea how to replace it. She said she would and waive the repair cost and I said Thank You. Once again I need to take another day off from work to be home for the repair and lose a day’s pay.
She told me this was the last time they would replace the handle due to it being a cosmetic problem. I told her there is some problem why this keeps breaking, maybe it the door itself. She said this has not been a problem. I explained there are no children in the house and my husband and I both work, and most of the time I open the door on the side not even using the handle. I have a Frigidaire refrigerator in my garage that I have had over 11 years and never had any problems. I was on the phone for 40 minutes trying to get this resolved. She told me the tech will check it out and if he finds nothing wrong the case is closed.
I was displeased and disappointed to hear you would not stand behind your product 100%. I feel very let down and am very concerned about the handle. I feel sure you will know how to solve this problem. I feel you should know about this and be aware. Anything you can do to speed matters up and resolve this ongoing problem will be greatly appreciated. I am appealing to you for help.

I bought my Frigidaire refrigerator 2 years ago. The first one made constant loud noises. Lowe's had to switch it out. This second one, I've been noticing a burning smell but the tech couldn't find the problem. Finally, yesterday when the light would not turn on, I found that it had burnt the roof of my refrigerator. The tech scrapped a little off but informed me there is nothing he could do. This is crazy. I've had so many complaints with this fridge. When I had my Kenmore for 16 years, I didn't even pay attention to it! This Frigidaire is making me crazy. I'm thinking it's going to burn my house up, and I can't even get help!!!

Frigidaire Refrigerator FFTR2126PS7 - Second fridge of this model in six months. First fridge was not built right and distributor contacted Frigidaire on our behalf. Frigidaire agreed to build us a new one. New fridge came from Canada plant. Immediately upon receiving it we noticed that it was horribly noisy. Three months later, it's WAY worse. When running it is hands down the loudest thing in the house. Door shelves fall out of their own accord, dumping anything you have in them on the floor (this is an engineering flaw). Temps were never right. Best the fridge could do was 42 degrees in the fridge side. Freezer was cold enough but not frost free (meaning the seal was not sealing). Speaking of the seal, the corners would never seal to the door frame. You could feel cold air seeping out. The plant left plastic behind the seal that never came out, so we have this hideous "skirt" of plastic around the seal.
The stainless steel finish on our model is EXTREMELY fragile. We had one of those floppy business card magnets on the fridge. I pulled a piece of paper off that was being held on the fridge with this magnet. The magnet left scratches on the stainless steel surface! I was astounded. Trying the same thing with my fingernail left the same kind of mark... STAINLESS STEEL... Seriously... I am totally disgusted with this fridge and the quality of workmanship/design all together. I will NEVER be buying a Frigidaire again. I would suggest anyone considering a Frigidaire to do their homework before purchase.

My 25 yr old 'fridge died on Thanksgiving 2010 with a houseful of company. The following day I purchased a new Frigidaire French Door with ice and water in the door, model FGH82822LP3. I don't have a diary of the repairs during the first 6 months, but the icemaker leaked, froze up, quite, and generally gave problem after problem requiring warranty repair 6 times during before they completely replaced the appliance on 6/15/2011 with model FGH82844LP3. The repair service, Rapid Repair from Muskogee, OK has always given excellent service and the Frigidaire Customer Service personnel have always been courteous and helpful; HOWEVER, the product is junk!
Within 2 months I started having the same problems intermittently. The rub was that I would report the problem but by the time the tech. would get here it would be running properly. A few weeks later it would repeat. The day after the warranty on the 2nd 'fridge expired it broke down again to the point that the repairman got to see it and diagnose it. Frigidaire did stand behind that repair. They allowed me to purchase a 2 yr. extended warranty, but here it is the end of July 2013 and I still have a broken down icebox and visits from the repairman on average of every 2 weeks. The company has admitted design problems, but the parts they send don't fix it. I want another complete new refrigerator or money to purchase one of my choice. They could save money by giving me what I want. They are spending more on repairs than a new one would cost.

On top of that there are two LARGE holes in the ceiling of the fridge burned by a light which is badly designed. The 1st tech slapped a plate over and put in a new cover over the light; however the holes continue to grow. Finally called a different tech and if I had not heard the conversation he had with the tech at Frigidaire I would not believe the "repair". He was told to use a cigarette lighter to heat the plastic and flatten it out to fill in the holes. Seriously I spent thousands of $$ for this. Refrigerator is a piece of junk!!!!!!!

In July of 2012, I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator. That was the beginning of my nightmare. By October 2012, I already had to call for repair. In October, it was fixed within one week, fine.
Now, fast forward to May 2013, the refrigerator stopped cooling. I called customer service and was informed to call various repair service providers that they deal with in my area. No one was available to come until the following week. Finally, Harp Home Services from West Babylon, NY sent a repairman. He looked at the unit and said the fan was no longer working and they would get the part and call to set-up an appointment to fix my refrigerator. One week went by, then two weeks passed, I called to find out what the delay was and was told that the part is on backorder from their supplier and they will let me know, period!!
I called Frigidaire back to demand that something be done because I have young children and it is costly to get ready-made food on a daily basis. They contacted Harp, who informed them that they could only get the part from a certain distributor and I would have to wait - well, it has now been a month and a half. I am tired of calling Harp every other day and Frigidaire to no avail!!! Unfortunately, I am not going to throw away hundreds of dollars again, so I have to wait until these inconsiderate individuals decide they are able to fix my fridge.
This is the worst appliance company - I am unable to get my fridge fixed. Hopefully, any consumer thinking of getting an appliance from this company will re-think their choice after reading this.

I contacted the company and they refuse to acknowledge there is a problem and their solution is to either sell you new bins at $30-$40 EACH or an almost $400 extended warranty. I checked with my local Lowe's store about new bins and they said broken bins were a real problem with these refrigerators. One salesman told me he had even had the door bins break on their floor models. I also did a Google search for complaints and found there were HUNDREDS of complaints about the door bins. I purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator with Model # FFHT1817LS8 at a Sears store. I had purchased it on lay-away. After paying for it for about 4 months, I finally received the fridge just 2 months ago. It worked okay for a while, but just a while after having it, the temperature control and defrost timer started to make a clicking sound. I was not sure if that was normal or not. It went on for about a week or so, and then it stopped clicking. That is when the refrigerator stopped working altogether. The freezer was working, but it had accumulated a large amount of frost and was on/running ALL of the time - meaning the timer was not running it in intervals like it was supposed to.
I did get an extended warranty from Sears, thankfully! I have notified Frigidaire/Electrolux of my issues (the Frigidaire brand is owned by Electrolx, BTW) and they were no help at all. I got some form letter email with a link for services/repair places that didn't even work! I contacted Sears, and they agreed to set up a time for one of their technicians to check it out. So, I take a day off from my work to accommodate the repair man scheduling (I work a Swing Shift) and then got told my appointment was canceled. I would have to reschedule because the repair guy called in sick (or something)! And I was like **?! I contacted Sears again and with much run-around, being passed around here and there, and talking to several different phone operators, I finally got them to agree to get a different refrigerator as a replacement. I only got through the fight because I was stern, not rude, but stern and wouldn't give up what I needed out of my service contract agreement.
I am not going with this refrigerator at all. I did not expect this. It looked all shiny and new in the store, but looks can be deceiving. I settled on a GE model that had much higher positive reviews and less complaints lodged against them in general. The source of the problem is cheap construction by the manufacturer - Electrolux / Frigidaire. The part in question which was broken, after ONLY 2 months of use, was a faulty electronic control / defrost timer. And after reading these mountains of complaints, I see that Frigidaires don't seem to last beyond 3-5 or so years. That is extremely poor. At one time in their lives, Frigidaire was a noteworthy brand. But I guess that time is long gone...I would just like to let other buyers beware. A fridge that doesn't last beyond 2 months of use is a bad brand, especially one that won't last beyond 3 years and one you constantly have to have fixed.

I purchased the fridge on May 15, 2012, and now just a couple weeks after the manufacturer's impressive 1, that's ONE-YEAR WARRANTY expired, this thing goes "on the blink". The refrigerator side is not cold, and the freezer is so cold the ice cream might be broken up by a jack hammer. We tried the normal unplug, wait, and plug it in routine, which did nothing. After calling the manufacturer, they claim, "This never happens. Did you buy an extended warranty?"
I should have known; a product with only a 1 yr warranty is trying to show me something. But, I checked, all the others were the same - 1 year. Well, that is all except the $3000 unit, it had a three-year warranty; however, an extra $2000 seemed like a lot for an additional 2 years of worry free service. So, I bought the cheap $1000 unit. The unit was purchased from BrandsMart, a retailer in South Florida and they maintain their own service department. After checking it out, they replaced it. My contact with Frigidaire customer service was because of the poor design of the three door shelf/bins. Not only were they flimsy, but they would sometimes fall off when opening the refrigerator, spilling whatever was on the shelves.
I called customer service and spent twenty frustrating minutes attempting to make the representative understand the problem. After that, she informed me that there was a fix and it would cost $24 each. The way it was described did not relate to my problem. Of course, even though this was not a fix, she told me that even though the unit was under guarantee, this was not covered because it was not a mechanical or electrical problem. My model refrigerator has a flawed design for the ice maker. The supervisor I spoke with today acknowledged that my model is flawed and that the ice maker has been redesigned in future models. Day of Delivery Failure, Gallery Refer Model LGUI2149LP2 - For Christmas 2011, our son and his family bought this Refrigerator from Lowe’s on Dec. 3, 2011, because it was a Consumer's Reports Best at that time. My son works out of state a lot and is a single father of our three youngest grandchildren. Delivery was delayed until just before we arrived for Christmas. The first day of operation, the ice cream keeper door (top freezer model) broke. The "keeper" shelf has no front lip. Without the door, the top shelf in the freezer door is useless. The keeper door is a curved 1/4 circle design, with two small little (1/8" long) not-reinforced plastic points/tips sticking out at the left and right rear corners, supposedly to work like swivel points.
However, in the freezer they freeze and become brittle and have the strength of some cheap Chinese toy made by slave labor, because on first use on delivery day, after my son went to the store to buy food and ice cream and the first time he used the door, the left tip broke off. My son went to Lowe’s and they ordered a new cover. What arrived four months later from Frigidaire was the wrong item. On top of that (keep in mind that my son and his children are home very little because of his job - children stay with relatives while he is away), the next time we visited, I tried to open the ref’s door and the plastic handle broke clean through in my hand. Frigidaire had been totally non-responsive and until I personally talked with the store manager and demanded a completely new refrigerator (saying I would even pay the difference in sales price and application of my military discount), Lowe’s could not care less at all.
After my entry into this problem, the store manager has started doing something at least, but says Frigidaire must be given opportunity to respond and has ordered again an ice cream keeper door and a new handle. That has been weeks ago. And Frigidaire has yet to respond. Shame on Frigidaire for such a shoddy design and it is obvious the people who design their refrigerators use ones made by somebody else. It would have been so simple to spend a few pennies more and to make the Ice Cream Keeper door with reinforced hinge tips. The design was good, but cheaply and poorly executed.
