Range can not heat up past 350 and will turn off and give a F10 Code, which is bad wiring. Many people online have written reviews on the same product. The microwave from the GALLERY SERIES will turn on if you open the door. How crazy is that! Please everyone save yourself the hardship I have to deal with, do not buy this Gallery Series.

Frigidaire Electrolux Dual Fuel Range - I was baking a roast when I thought the oven was emitting a strange smell. I looked in and noticed the oven was extremely hot, hotter than the 350 degrees that I had set it on. I took out the roast and tried to shut the oven off but I could not. I ended up having to switch off the electric breaker. I was quite concerned this was the end of my range even though it wasn't very old. However I did use it again watching over it very carefully. It worked but I was wary and I dared not use the timed bake and go out of the house on errands, etc.
A few months went by without another incident and then while I was baking an apple crisp, I smelled smoke and looked in the oven; it was extremely hot and the smoke rolled out while I pulled out the burnt and very crisp apple crisp. I had to switch off the breaker to get it to quit heating. I am not sure how hot my oven could get but it seems that it could be a fire hazard. I looked online for the parts that may be needed and I found that other people have had the same problem. I would think there would be a recall but apparently there is not one.

This is a flat glass range top with four burners and one bridge burner. The right two burners were turned on and in use heating pans with the left two burners and bridge burner in the off positions and not being used. Suddenly, clicking began in the left two burners like when they are manually turned on. Then the left two burner indicators began to randomly scroll through temperature settings of 1.8, 1.4, 2.6, 2… etc all while the control knobs were in the OFF position. When I attempted to turn on the left front burner's control knob to a specific setting it ignored my setting and kept scrolling through other temperature settings. Then the range top burners began heating up to the temperatures the left two burner indicators were scrolling through.
When I attempted to turn the burner control back to the OFF position - it ignored me and turned to an 8 temperature setting and the range top front burner and bridge began glowing red hot. Then it would turn itself off and back on again - scrolling through temperature settings and the range top obeyed it. We finally had to turn off the range top from the house breaker circuit board. When we turned the range top/stove breaker back on the next morning, the range top indicators all read error code "ER 56" on ALL of the burner temperature indicators.
We have requested an appliance repair serviceman come out and will update this account accordingly, but have found several web forums on this issue stating it is a switch issue and that Frigidaire has several of their range tops on recall status for this very issue. I am unsure at this time if our Professional Series Range top by Frigidaire is one of their recalled models.

I have bought 7 years ago a Gallery Series Oven model CGLEF379DCJ. I had to buy on two separate occasions the door handle from the oven. The thing breaks down. Why? Because clueless engineering designed a door handle where screws go in PLASTIC!!! No metal sockets. So plastic melts away within 2 years, on average. That handle is not cheap, $86 + tax!!! I am now facing buying a THIRD one. Now the electronic board just sparked and repairs will be over $300. Electronic board alone is over $150. So it's going to be more practical to throw that garbage oven and buy a new one. AFTER 7 YEARS! It's clear to me now that Frigidaire and its affiliate will never be brands that I will consider EVER AGAIN.

Oven has been non working for 3 months. Frigidaire doesn't seem concern that oven is a fire hazard and refuses to replace. Continues to find a service company that will replace board. HHGregg where I purchased oven refuses to get involved. In addition now tell me that their own 5 year extended warranty won't cover oven either due to it still being under manufacturer’s warranty. Not how their warranty was promoted.

I seem to be having the same problems that many others are. It's about 3 years old. The side gets too hot. My kids used to like to play in the cabinet beside range before we got this one, but the heat could be felt through cabinet. The oven seems to be at least 50 degrees off and I stopped baking for this reason because nothing ever seems to get done. On the top, the only burner that seemed to heat to the correct temperature was the top left and now that is messing up. Last night the burner was set to 2 1/2. I washed a few dishes and turned around to see the burner bright red. I forgot about it and turned it on to cook dinner tonight. Once again it was set to 2 1/2, but soon got bright red and caught on fire.

Worked 12 hour shift, came home to find oven had turned itself on to over 600 degrees! Stove, walls, and cabinets around/near stove were all covered with dripping steam marks from the heat. Plastic in sink was warped and dish washing sponge was nearly dried to a crisp. I don't know how long the oven had been on because as I stated before I worked 12 hours that day and no one else was in the home. In my opinion, this is a severe fire hazard. I don't feel safe having this range in my home. I now keep the range unplugged when not in use.

In the last 7 years I have lived in 3 homes with various Frigidaire range models. Every range has had the same problem. Preheat takes at least 30 minutes, no matter what temp you set. The reason is because these ovens heat up to 500 degrees then cool down to the set temp. This is not only stupid but it is very wasteful on time and energy. Most ovens heat up to the temp but not these. Do not buy any Frigidaire range. They aren't worth it.

3 year old model DGEF3041KFE is so bad I just want it out of the house. A week after purchase I called retailer and the tech came out and said it was "normal" that scalding hot air vents out of oven door when oven is on. How could that be acceptable??? I do not have young children so kept the stove with matching microwave and was ultra careful. Then I noted glass top did not clean well unlike my prior ceramic tops that always shone... this ceramic top is shabby and scarred and smudged... oven takes 25 to 35 minutes to preheat, and causes a terrible acrid smell...
I avoided using oven for the three years I have owned. Cooked frozen pizza today in just cleaned oven and the house is smelling awful. I am having a function at my house in April and realize I cannot proceed with this terrible appliance. Went online to see if there were similar comments and I see that my concerns about overly high burner Temps and the like are shared and give rise to dangerous risk of arcing or fire. I know about planned obsolescence but this is absurd... I am willing to walk away if they will take it away...

Frigidaire Electric Stove Model FEFB79GSA - We have had this Frigidaire Electric Stove with convection oven for over five years. This appliance is dangerous. I have taken some pictures and attached them to provide a visual of the following description of events. Behind the convection fan on the back of the stove there is a square hole. It appears that something leaked from this square hole down the back around the convection fan and straight down to the 220 connection. This cause the connection to short. I can't believe nothing caught fire. I will not purchase another Frigidaire.

On 12-26-2014 I purchased a gallery stainless range. I went to broil a steak and found I had no broiler pan. I spoke to the store I bought it from and they told me they ordered one... It's now Feb 14 2015 so I called Frigidaire and guess what, that's an $80.00 accessory. I paid almost $800.00 for the range without a broiler pan (neither of the two pans). That's like buying a new car then find out you have to buy the steering wheel and tires are extra. What a bunch of Bull! I'm old and will probably never buy appliances again but if I do they won't be Frigidaire. ONE VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER.

Frigidaire Double Oven Stove - model CGEF304DKF2: It appears my lower oven sidewalls have warped. My oven racks no longer fit snugly against walls nor do they fit the side rails securely. On several occasions the racks have slipped off the side rails and crashed to bottom of oven. Twice, I was in the midst of removing a roaster and ended up burning my arm as I was trying to stop pan from tipping over at bottom of oven.
This defect should be noted on a recall as it is very dangerous. I should not have to pay a repairman in excess to tell me this is the issue and costing me over $75 for that diagnosis. Frigidaire either needs to replace these racks or replace these defective stoves. We purchased this stove approx 3 years ago. This issue is of critical importance as someone is going to get severely burnt when the rack in use drops so suddenly.

Do not buy the range with model number FFEF3013LWG, serial number VF40887588. This range is no good. The only element that works is the dual front right. The signal is audible only if you are standing right in front of it. The side of the oven gets hot. The service department is incompetent. They said that's how loud it is, so I'm suppose to stand by this appliance at all times so I can hear it go off. They said that the side is suppose to get hot as a ventilation. I told them "so it's ok for a 2 year old child to get burnt." They didn't believe me when I said "well, the last one I had did not get hot." I do believe that these items are regulated and are not suppose to get hot like that. Also the only burner that works correctly is the front right.

I own a Frigidaire Gallery Professional Series electric range, Model #FEF389WJCB that take knob style #318099100. Apparently Frigidaire decided to discontinue making these control knobs. That is understandable however, what has me irate at this company is that they offer no substitute for these knobs. I called customer service and I asked the representative what I could order that used the same size "D shaft" perhaps from another model range....She tells me, "Sorry we can't help you, I guess you will have to buy a new range!!!!" She said this with the most indifferent attitude... Seriously? My range works beautifully, looks brand new and has possibly 100 hours cook time (it's in my vacation house)....How does a serious company do this without offering any solution to their customer??

Our Frigidaire range burner came on by itself and we could not get it to turn off. We had to turn the power off to the stove. I discovered that the electronic control for the burner was fried. I isolated the burner electrically, and we continued to use the stove as Lowe's would do nothing to help us. Some months later a second burner came on when no one was home. There was a pan on the stove. When I arrived home I could hear the smoke detector as soon as I exited my car. I rushed into a smoke-filled house and found a fire at the stove. The burner would not turn off at the stove so I turned the power off. The smoke damage to our house was significant. Upon researching online I found that our stove was involved in a recall.
I contacted the company handling the warranty and eventually received replacement parts and some bushings meant to protect the controls against moisture from the stovetop. The company who was supposed to install the parts never came and after repeated calls I installed the parts myself. Now every time we leave the house we shut off power to the stove. Now the oven just quit working. We paid well over $1,000 for a stove that nearly burned our house down, has an oven that doesn't work, and cannot be left powered up due to the risk of another fire. I find it hard to believe that Frigidaire is not being held accountable. Those of us with Frigidaire stoves need an advocate to get our money back and help prevent someone from dying in a fire as a result of their stoves.

I have read on here about numerous other people who have had the same problem as I have. My burner not turning off at all until power is disconnected from unit. Now realizing after reading all these that this is probably why my breaker box caused a fire and we had to replace our meter. Our power meter had a burned out arm from something (guessing stove now) in circuit breaker box...I am extremely upset not only about the fire and hazard from my stove but everyone else's as well. I have been burned several times as a result of the faulty burners. Extremely lucky my home didn't burn down several times. Think it is time for a serious lawsuit. Especially since the company is either not responding, nor are they doing anything about it. I had to replace my stove this week which being disabled and taking care of my disabled mother, hurt our financial situation in an extreme manner. Not to mention the physical damages such as burns and smoke inhalation. Shame on this company. You need a massive recall on these products immediately. I've cooked with various ovens over 40+ years - never expected that a fan would be added now, and never really informed before purchasing it. I have had to order a glass front for my range since it was broken by a child's plastic car getting pushed into the front of it. Why it's broke and the glass is not shatter proof is beyond me. I have ordered the part twice now since the first one was returned to Frigidaire by FEDEX for the packaging being damaged. I understand this and am OK with it. My problem comes with Frigidaire because they can't be bothered to notify the customer of it and get a new one on the way until I called to find out where it was. So I ordered the 2nd one and was told that it would be overnighted to me. WELL, today I call again because it has been 4 days since I talked to them and guess what it never shipped. I am being told that it is on backorder and "might" ship tomorrow overnight. Guess what tomorrow is Friday and I bet it doesn't come over the weekend. The issues I have are this.
2) There is no contact with the customer when a part is returned or on backorder. They should have known that when I called them and RE-ordered the part on Monday.
3) Try to talk to a supervisor or manager. Never going to happen. "They are on a phone call" is the standard answer I get. I am currently waiting on a manager to call me back. I am sure I will be long dead before that happens.
In my opinion NEVER buy a part from Frigidaire, their customer service is the worst ever.

I purchased the Frigidaire Professional Series Electric Range in 2007. I have been satisfied with its performance until a week ago. It began giving me an "F20 Error". For a few days, I could turn the breaker off and back on and it would restart and be fine. Then, nothing I tried would work. I called a repairman and he was puzzled by the situation. We took it in and they told me it may cost $500-$600 to repair it. I got a call from them this morning and they said it may have been recalled. They wanted me to check before they went any further because he said it is now looking like it may cost a lot more than that. I checked and it is not on any recall list. I don't want to spend $1000 to get it fixed, especially after reading the other horror stories I have read on here. Now, do I buy a new range or risk having this one repaired. Repair costs about $275, replaced the part controlling the burner. In September 2014, the left front burner again came on during the night. This time when I tried to turn it off, I could see a small flash-like explosion through the cooktop. Again, the only way to turn it off was via the circuit breaker. I inherited a less than 4 year old gas stove top from the previous owner of the house. It happens to be their professional series. Which I see costs 2-4x as much as their regular stove tops. Suffice to say, there's a major design flaw that no one on their design or QA team noticed. Did they not have people cooking on these for a period of time before going into production? The burners are all too close to the knobs. Over time and sometimes very shortly, the knobs will all start melting for deforming in some fashion. This is especially true for the larger burner that is in the lower right corner.
I am absolutely shocked and appalled that something like this went through the design and QA process without someone seeing it. On top of that, all the replacement knobs I could find cost over $15 each. But, what's the use of replacing them because they will all eventually (sooner) melt again? Save your money, don't go for such poor quality/design.

With the older model of stove/range unit - I assumed a burner problem or a minor electrical short somewhere. I grew more 'bothered' when I see many other(s) have same problem with their units as it may be a MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT - not a minor isolated incident with the unit (not withstanding age (6+ yrs)). As I have read the reviews - I will seek estimate for the appliance repair but will think long and hard before repair is completed on this unit. Please note - we do not use the UNIT that often to find an urgent need for repair/replacement. I just want an accurate assessment/evaluation of the situation before jumping. Now a year later, the right front element is beginning to act the same way. About 50% of the time, the element works fine. The other 50%, it will heat to high or off. Reading all these other posts has me scared. Frigidaire will be the next GM if they don't start recalling these ovens. I had no idea of the added risk of the elements going on randomly. The only right thing I did when I purchased this range was buying a 5 years extended warranty, so, so far none of the repair has cost me money. However, I know this range's life is only going to be maybe a year or two longer, because by the Aug. 2015, my warranty runs out. I don't know what I am going to do with this range. So much for a $1000 range. I will never buy Frigidaire again. I hope someone will help us consumers.

Re: Frigidaire smooth cook top Mod FPEC3685K5A Ser # NF93533847. Purchased on 11-28-2009. On June 1st, 2014 the cook top was off and wife outside in yard. When she came in she smelled smoke, and making her way to the kitchen found smoke billowing out from under the Frigidaire Cook top... also saw that the element between the two burners that is part of the "griddle" burners was glowing brightly on the left side.
She went outside and turned off the main breaker, shutting down the whole house, called 911, and the Phx Fire Dept arrived and checked things. The fire was contained inside the circuit board shielding under the control knobs on the right side of the cook top. Fire Dept also checked the wire connections at the wall and found that ok while checking for possible burning in the wall. Subsequent removal and partial disassembly revealed that the relay circuit board had a relay that arced internally and burned the heavy wiring connector next to it and the board itself.
On 6-4-2014, I called Frigidaire, and after a lengthy wait was informed that there was no "recall" on that cook top, and since I did not have a warranty they would not be covering anything. My concern was for safety especially after I read other people had the same experiences. Besides the boards burning, the cook top came on by itself, which if something was nearby could cause a counter fire.
I was informed that Frigidaire would send out a claim form which as of now has not arrived! The cook top needs a new connector and at minimum a new relay/pwr pcb which is relatively easy if parts are available (have not checked on that). However, wife says she wants that cook top out of the house! She can't trust it, since it comes on with no one around!

Model #PLEF398CC - After the oven was placed in the ON position, a loud pop was heard, and upon entering kitchen witnessed a fire from behind unit. AS quickly as possible, the breaker was shut off (it never tripped). After speaking with a rep @ Frigidaire, I was informed there was a recall on the "Relay Board" - in turn we scheduled a tech who came & changed the relay board. Upon turning the breaker back on to check if unit was functioning properly, it went on FIRE AGAIN!!! The tech explained he thinks the MAIN CONTROL BOARD is the problem.
Upon doing some research this OVEN, I realized that it WAS RECALLED IN 2009! Me as the consumer was NEVER informed by the retailer (even after registering above product & others purchased at same time). I only found out about recall after some research through your company! I then called Frigidaire again - but they REFUSE to cover parts and or labor. After admitting that the oven has had an ELECTRICAL PROBLEM CAUSING THIS FIRE @ this problem was & is NOT as a result from the consumers' misuse, they will not cover parts even though this is a FIRE HAZARD! Being that they do not see it in their system as a RECALL, they feel no responsibility on their part! A manufacturing problem. Why is it they are NOT responsible for faulty issues???

Approximately three weeks ago, we had our circuit breaker for our kitchen trip and sparks flew out of the back of our Frigidaire range. Why? Because you have a very serious and potentially deadly fire hazard with your Frigidaire Range model # FEFBZ90GCA . Based on the hundreds of postings I have found this to be a serious issue. For apparent reason the heating element in the oven gets extremely hot, and the wires in the back. Our unit at the terminal block have melted and that is what cause the sparks.
I spoke with a very helpful customer affairs representative, Michelle, who was kind and courteous and offered to do a parts concession. While this is a nice gesture, I am deeply concerned that this is a band-aid fix for something much more serious and in addition, we will be paying for the diagnostic and labor costs which will amount to over $200. We have already paid close to 200 dollars in having an electrician come out to determine that the issue we were having was with the unit and not our home's wiring. The parts themselves cost nearly nothing. This seems unfair. The stove was purchase 5 to 6 years ago.
I would think that you would expect better from a name brand such as yours and would also desire the security of knowing you do not have a potential deadly fire hazard in your home threatening your family and home. What I am seeking is a new oven of equal value which does not have a history of this problem. I eagerly await your reply and appreciate your attention to this matter.

I recently noticed a ceramic, circular, honeycomb filter which appears to be for heat disbursement in my Frigidaire Electric Range (model no. FFEF3015LWD), dislodged from left rear burner cylinder which is below the center of the burner and connects to the oven. I spoke with customer support and couldn't get an answer as to the name of the part, couldn't find it on a parts diagram, and was told to get a repairman. This range is 2 years old and despite its nice looking and convenient design, it takes forever to heat up and forever to cook a meal. It's probably because it only has a top oven heating element. However, turning on a burner recently caused an electric pop. It's possible the burner wasn't inserted completely after removing it for cleaning the range surface, but there should be safety features to prevent this.
There is also no excuse for the ceramic part falling into the oven after one oven clean which caused the burner in question to get very hot when using the oven only. I contacted Frigidaire and explained the ceramic part issue in detail along with the potential for injury. I received no response. Frankly, this oven, despite its aesthetic construction, is not at all energy efficient and lacks the quality controls that are causing the types of problems I'm experiencing. I've seen other articles about this on the internet. Frigidaire needs to get its act together and start being responsible before someone is injured.

The button to cancel would not function so I turned the breaker off. I so loved my stove that I went out and bought a comparable model. Silly me. I've had my second Frigidaire two years and the same thing happened again. As with a previous review I too had to have the "touch" control pad replaced after a year. I called Frigidaire and was told because I have an extended warranty the "electric" control panel can be replaced. I have asked the repair dealer if the electric control panel will be the same or has it been updated because of issues. It will be the same control panel that has started on fire with two Frigidaire ranges I have purchased. From the other reviews this is not a coincidence and Frigidaire is ignoring the fire hazard. I too was standing in front of my range both times and could trip the breaker. What does it take for a company this large to act responsibly? Why isn't there a recall on this electric control panel?

We bought a Frigidaire Electric range on 2010, and within a year the touch panel that controls the oven and stove top began malfunctioning, and the electronics needed to be replaced, which was done under warranty. Approximately a year later, the problem reoccurred, and after a lot of bargaining and complaining, Frigidaire reluctantly agreed to pay for the part, and I had to pay the labor. Now, the 2nd replacement is failing, and Frigidaire curtly told me that they do not have a recall or anyone else experiencing the same problem, and are not willing to do anything at all to rectify the problem (because in their estimation, a part failing at 12 month intervals is not a design flaw, and so not anything they're willing to do anything about!!).
The company is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to customer service, and while I'll buy from the same dealer, I will never again entertain buying anything more complex than a rubberband from Frigidaire, as their engineering department is unwilling to acknowledge their design flaws and failures. Reading other posts, I guess I should be glad that the damn range didn't start a fire and burn my house down. Since the unit was still under warranty a new control panel was installed at no cost. About two weeks ago the oven was on and an error message lit up on the control panel; the oven was set at 350 and had reached a temperature of over 650. In addition the fan was running and would not shut off. I immediately shut off the circuit breaker to prevent a fire.
When I called for service they told me that the unit was out of warranty and that I had to pay for all repairs. Since the unit was still almost new I agreed to the repairs; with parts and labor I was charged over $600 for a unit that cost $795 when new. The only reason I did not replace this oven was because Frigidaire was the only brand that had a white unit that fit my space under the counter so spending another $200 plus tax was a waste just to get the exact same unit.
I have seen hundreds of complaints about Frigidaire ovens and appliance on the internet. It is apparent that Frigidaire intentionally manufactures these appliance with a shelf life of only about 2 years so that they fail out of warranty and you are stuck either buying their parts which are defective to begin with or buying another unit. It is a shame that Electrolux which owns Frigidaire and supposedly has a good name as a high end manufacturer sells a product that is worthless and a rip off to consumers. It would be nice if consumers could initiate a class action suit against this company for obviously faulty products.

Come to find out the cooling fan is making all the racket and it lasts until it cools down enough for it to shut off.
My real complaint is with Frigidaire. When I e-mailed they e-mail back and said it was probably not wired correctly (inside the stove) and as far as the fan they said it should be replaced by a different model fan, so evidently they have had issues with the fan. But they only guarantee parts for a year. So I have to call a repairman and have them replace the fan and pay for the service call and the part. My point is it should had a recall because the fan has to be replace with a different model. I think the the appliance should have lasted more than 2 yrs.

Keeps food moist, but really makes things like frozen french fries crispy. Fish and chicken turn out really nice and moist. I did frozen pretzels, which every one knows get hard in regular ovens, but not in this convection one. For retired people like us, these two ovens are great. You cannot get it to open even if you shut the electric off to it. It cost 200 to get it fixed the last time and that was in October of 2012 which is at least $500 in repairs since purchase. At least this time, the alarm isn't sounding. I am making hubby shut electric off to it till I have to use it again because I'm afraid to go to sleep with it like this. I will never purchase anything again that is made by Frigidaire! I'm very disappointed.

Frigidaire 30'' stainless range, purchased 2008 - With the constant heat of the range being used, the oven has warped and the grates no longer fit. When any weight is placed on the grates, they fall and everything is spilled over the oven. The warranty company was called in October and a technician came on the 17th of October, and didn't know how he could fix it. He stated that he would let us know. We called the company on the 19th, 22nd, 23rd and the 7th of November and no one can give us an answer as to what is happening. We purchased the Frigidaire model FPCS3085LFB stove/range in March of 2011; beautiful, induction, flat top, and stainless steel. In Aug. of 2012, we started getting error messages and complete shutdown of the appliance; never tripped the breaker even once. The appliance store where purchased has made several attempts to correct the problem, even taking the entire unit out of our house for three weeks; many tries and failures.
The unit was returned back to our home and still does not work properly. I can't use the induction burners, the oven and the regular burners all at the same time without the system alarming and shutting down. The only way to get it to stop alarming is to manually trip the circuit breaker. But because the stove is 5 months out of warranty, Frigidaire has been very reluctant to help. Now, I am contracting with a second service company to see if we can get correction on this. I had a Jenn-Air convection for 16 years with not one service call. Updating in this case did not mean upgrading.

After building our own house, we purchased a refrigerator and slide in range from Lowe's. We purchased an extended three warranty with it that was honored by Lowe's and Frigidaire. The refrigerator had to be serviced five times in the warranty period. The stove burner control had to be serviced on four different calls. The burners would go to highest settings without touching the controls.
All warranties are gone now, so the worst that could happen did. My wife was preheating the oven when there was a loud pop and sparks came out of the oven control panel. This in turn tripped the breaker. If it had not tripped, there could have been a major fire. I pulled the control panel off, and found the wiring harness to the control board had caught on fire, melting the plastic connection and the connection probes. It also fried the electronic panel.
I e-mailed the company three days ago. They responded with an e-mail today. They informed me that my range was out of warranty and since there weren't any recalls, too bad, too sad. This stove is less than five years old. I have never seen such lousy and dangerous appliances produced in my lifetime as these were. I will have to buy a new stove now and be assured it won't be a Frigidaire. If anybody wants to bring a consumer lawsuit against these people, put me on the list.

I bought a Frigidaire range in June of 2011 because our stove simply blew up. I decided on buying model #FGES3065KFD because of how sleek it looked and all the bells and whistles. We paid a little over $1,400 for this stove. Right before our one year warranty was about to run out, my husband called me at work saying none of our burners were working. Yeah, right! After checking breakers and troubleshooting, they are not coming back on. I called HH Gregg where we purchased it from. They gave me Frigidaire number to report. Frigidaire customer service referred me several businesses numbers that I can have to service the range. I called several and all are backed up 4 or more days.
I scheduled the one that can come the soonest. I just want to throw in that I do not bake a lot. So yes, my oven worked, but I use the range 99.99% of everything I fix. Okay. The repairman came and looked over the range and said that he has to order a part for it and it would be about a week for it to come in, not. The part was on back order for 3 weeks! I guess everyone else's went out the same week as mine. Even after the three-week wait, what gets me is that the part is only backed with a 90-day warranty. What? Did I hear him correct? This part went out in less than a year. I paid ** $1,400 for this stove. I will not be buying anything Frigidaire in the future! My mom had a refrigerator for 25 years and had no issues with it. What is up with the quality of the products now!

This relates back to my previous report dated February 1, 2012. After I threatened Sears with media and internet exposure on the subject of the ongoing problems with our Frigidaire Professional double convection oven, they eventually offered a buyback of the unsatisfactory oven, not a free replacement. They offered what amounted to an 85% refund, which represented the 18 months of use. Their life expectancy of these units is 10 years, which I personally don't actually find unreasonable from a manufacturer's perspective.
So the old unit was disconnected (by me), and after some more inconvenience caused by Sears's incompetence was carted away, a replacement delivered. I unpacked the replacement double oven with manufacturing date of March 2012. So it had just been produced. One of the problems with the original oven had been noise and vibration after Sears had replaced the cooling fan located at the back of the unit above the top oven with a unit of increased cooling capacity. That was in order to prevent the thermal breaker above the top oven cutting out, as it had done twice.
Given that the previous vibration issues had in my view emanated at least to some extent by loose casing panels, I took it upon my self to check the security and tightness of the panel screws on the new unit before I installed it. The following is what I discovered: On the top panel, 3 of the 5 screws had stripped threads, and one was missing. On the rear panel, of the 21 or so screws on that panel,15 had stripped threads; and one was missing. On the right side panel, 6 of the screws had stripped threads, and one was very obviously missing. On the left side panel, 4 of the screws had stripped threads.
So, I have called Sears and insisted that a technician comes out to see and issue a report on this issue and to rectify it. Remember, the above was found on the newly-manufactured replacement double oven, freshly removed from its factory packaging. It seems obvious to me as a professional mechanical engineer that at the Electrolux / Frigidaire factory, which I believe is in Canada, power screwdrivers are being used, which are set at too high a torque figure; thereby, causing routine stripping of screw "threads" in the panels and leaving the screws in some cases loose and on other cases insufficiently tight.
On a given unit, it might be reasonable to find maybe a couple of screws, which have threads, which have become stripped and/or are less secure than they should be, but not in the numbers which I have found. Accepting that appliances such as these are not precision-engineered products, it is, however, perfectly obvious that these products are not being manufactured to a satisfactory or acceptable quality standard. The manufacturer is, after all, Electrolux, one of the largest world-wide manufacturers of such products; and there are simply no excuses of this appallingly low quality of manufacturing. This is not Chinese manufacturing; this junk is being produced in Canada.

Frigidaire Electric Range Caught On Fire When Off: As I was leaving the house, I noticed black smoke coming from the stove. It was not on nor was it turned on over the previous 24 hours. We unplugged the thing and called Leon's where we purchased it and the extended warranty. They sent out a technician to have a look. He found that there was a wire that was melted and caused a spark, which then lit the insulation on fire. He put electric tape over the wire, told me that he was going to order a new replacement harness. I was so unsatisfied that I called to complain again and let them know my concern about the fact that the stove lit on fire without it being turned on! And that just replacing the wire was not going to cut it. We were pretty much ignored.
They sent the technician back to replace the wire anyways. When he was here, he found that there were more spots on the wiring that had the wires exposed. This product should be recalled! Obviously, something is not right. I want to take this further. I have a newborn child, in a new house, and don't want to come home to my worst nightmare. Any advice?

This is a follow up to my other complaints about my Frigidaire range. Chris ** of Electrolux U.S. was kind enough to contact us and get the ball rolling to resolve the issue with our defective range. Chris is with the U.S. division of Frigidaire, and once he turned us over to the Canadian division, things started going south. To reiterate my previous complaint, Frigidaire was not prepared to stand behind their product, because it was now out of warranty. My spouse had burned his hand on the stove resulting in second-degree burns that required immediate medical attention and home care nursing. And when we mentioned that, we suddenly had their attention.
In my opinion, these stoves are built to break down and are made in such a way that a do-it-yourselfer cannot fix them. For example, the board on the front of the stove has a plastic wire that should be connected to a wiring harness that snaps on and off making it easy to replace. Frigidaire sent out a technician with a freshly printed diagram of the diagnostic of the problem. The technician was told to remove the strap from the housing and clean the end with an eraser. The technician did so, and when he tried to reattach the part, he saw that the end consisted of a cluster of filaments that could not possibly be reconnected (as if Frigidaire didn't know this).
It would have been like trying to pull out a handful of hair from your scalp and then trying to reattach it. Had these ends been put into a wiring harness, there would not have been a problem. Now, the entire board is rendered useless, and the only thing that works on the stove are the elements on top, and they only work intermittently as they have done since the date of purchase. The cost to replace the board is $457.00 plus the cost of installation. We refused.
After much back and forth with Frigidaire, they asked us what we wanted; and we said a new stove and a 20- to 30-year warranty as that is how long they should last. They offered us a new stove and an insulting two-year warranty. We refused the offer and countered with a new stove and split the difference on the warranty. We wanted the two-year warranty that came with the stove plus two five-year, all parts and labor, back-to-back, transferable extended warranties. I had told Frigidaire that if they had faith in their appliances and the extended warranties never had to be used, no one would be out-of-pocket (It costs Frigidaire nothing, nada, zero, for the extended warranties unless of course, they have planned obsolescence built in).
I would have a working stove and the peace of mind that I should expect from an expensive appliance. That is when all communication ceased. Frigidaire figured they would play the waiting game, knowing that it was pretty hard to live without an oven. We have been without an oven for three and a half months. Now that Easter is coming up, they think that the pressure is on us to cook a family meal. Nope, we are going out for dinner. On March 2, a letter was sent to us by the insurance division regarding the alleged malfunction. Now we are back at square one. We were supposed to hear from someone within the insurance division within 15 days, which would bring it up to March 17. It is now April 3, and still no word from Electrolux.
Why is it that companies have to do everything the hard way? What would have been the true cost of shipping a new stove and twelve years worth of warranties? Considering that everything is a business write off, one can only wonder in amazement at the lack of competence of Frigidaire's employees. As an investor in several blue chip companies, I would be very cautious of a manufacturer that has no customer service, cannot resolve complaints within five business days, and that will not stand behind their product with replacements and free extended warranties as an apology for the customers inconvenience.
Frigidaire is acting like a company teetering on bankruptcy by their actions, and I would not invest in Electrolux or any of their subsidiaries. And I certainly would not purchase any of their appliances nor would I recommend them based on my experience. Sorry, Frigidaire/Electrolux, but you have had plenty of time to make this right.

I bought a Frigidaire stove (model #CFEF3052LSG), and it smelled like burning plastic every time I ran it. It completely stunk up the whole house and even with the windows opened, it gave me a headache. The package the stove came with says to let it run for a minimum of 30 minutes at 400; I must have ran it for at least 10 hours over the course of the first week, waiting for the smell to burn off with no luck. The top works fine, but it's something in the oven itself that stinks.
When the repairman came out (the stove was thankfully under warranty), they pulled it apart but couldn't find anything actually wrong with it, but agreed that the house absolutely stunk when it was running. Their best guess was that some sort of plastic or something had fallen in behind where they couldn't reach during manufacturing and that was the cause of the problem.
So the store I bought it from took the old one away and sent me a replacement stove and now, it's having exactly the same problem! I'm extremely displeased with the product, and am probably going to be sending this one back too. With regard to Frigidaire black wall oven model FGB24T3EB. Oven was purchased and installed in December 2008. Eighteen months after purchase, the left hinge mounting screws pulled out of the oven frame, causing the door to pull away from the oven. The hinges were replaced in June 2010. Within one year, the right hinge followed the same scenario with complete failure in March 2012.
The door problem is with the design of the bearing that supports the hinge brace. This bearing has a V-groove on the outside diameter in which the oven brace rides. The inner diameter is supported with a ball bearing that has too much tolerance, when new, and quickly wears so that the outside diameter begins to wear into the vertical hinge support. This causes the hinge to bind. The user pulls harder on the door. This causes the bearing support to bend, allowing the outer diameter to further bind with the vertical support. At some point, the door cannot be opened. When the heavy, hot oven door is pulled from its hinges, the customer is in danger of being seriously burned or injured if the door falls to the floor. In addition, the jostling of the entire oven when the door becomes stuck and the user must force it open is the fear of compromising the gas line connection.
The LED display began to fail in July 2011. It was replaced in December 2011. Without this display, the operator cannot determine the temperature setting of the oven without guessing. It is not designed for the operating temperatures at the top of the oven where it is located. These are serious safety issues. The bearing issue and LED failure are due to manufacturing quality defects. This oven replaced a Tappan oven of the same design, except for the digital display and control, that was in service for over thirty years. The bracket design and hinge is identical except for the bearing.
This oven is dangerous and must be recalled. At minimum, the invoice price and cost of installation needs to be refunded to the purchaser. Finally, the oven timer volume is insufficient and it cannot be heard over typical kitchen noises, such as, a kitchen ventilator fan or conversation. Consumer Affairs: please partner with us consumers who are being subjected to very poor quality products and the shirking of responsibility by the manufacturer. Warranty periods need to increase to put pressure on companies to improve product reliability and safety.

The story I sent to you on Feb. 3, 2012 was on the wrong forum. It was placed under gas ranges, and it should be under electric ranges. Here is the story again, with an update. Keep your eyes open on YouTube for a smashing event to come, that has a Frigidaire stove getting what is due. We purchased a Frigidaire glass top stove at Bad Boy in Barrie in Nov. 2007. We used the oven part very little (maybe 30 hours on it since new). Last year, the outlet at the top blew. It blackened the enamel on top, so I purchased a new outlet (not yet installed).
We have never used a glass top before, so we thought that the front left element coming on and off, was supposed to happen. It would cycle like this most of the time, so you could never boil a pot of water, and at other times, it would go to "max" and burnt and warped our expensive pot set. I purchased a new control for the burner (not yet installed). This element stayed on, when the light was off, and I did not know it. I burnt myself (right index finger, 2nd degree plus nursing home care). It turned out the burner was not turned off.
Now, my oven will not work most of the time. You have to be patient with it, and keep pushing the oven switch for it to finally come on. When it does, the timer still will not work, so you have to use an external timer, and when you are finished with the oven, most of the time, it will not shut off. You have to turn off the main breaker at the panel. This is a fire and safety hazard. They tell me it is a controller that has gone, and it will cost over $300 for the part, and a service call of, who knows how much. Now my service rep has told me that the glass plate on the front (the touch screen), needs replacing at a cost of more than $400. I have contacted Bad Boy and Frigidaire, and they both told me that there is nothing they can do. I think that Frigidaire should fix or replace my stove, free of charge. This type of service would never have happened 20 years ago.

Next we smelled and saw acrid black smoke thinly escaping from the top of the range. I ran downstairs to turn the power to the oven off at the electric panel. We checked for fire in the oven and there was none. Note: the unit did not turn itself off.
We called a repairman who was able to come over the same day. He opened to look at the control panel. Though we could all smell the burning plastic smell, the repairman did not see any charring or burning on the control panel and so we did an experiment. I turned the breaker back on, and he turned the oven on. The exact same thing happened -- very loud buzzing sound and the smoke. He saw that it was coming from the electronic control board and could see the charring/fire location exactly. Note: the unit still did not turn itself off.
In order to allow us to use the stove burners, the repairman disconnected the clock and oven wires that were starting on fire, making a list for us of which wires he disconnected. He then returned the electronic control board to the range and closed everything up. We have been using the burners this past few weeks with no incident. I have a Frigidaire electric range model FEF177ABE that had the oven not shutting off. After baking, it got hotter and hotter. It starting beeping and displayed F1 in the clock area. I went to pull the range out to unplug but all the burners on the top came on making it too hot to move. I had to trip the breaker. This is a real fire hazard. Frigidaire wants me to call a repair company. After researching and seeing the issues they have had with these ranges, I am buying a new range and it will not be a Frigidaire.

We purchased a Frigidaire electric range, model FEF326ASK in Nov. 2006 to replace an old range that had come with the house but had stopped working. Very quickly the Frigidaire started having problems. After about 6 months, the large burners, when turned on, would often (but not always) go to high heat, causing food to burn, making them unreliable. Next, the supports holding the touch panel (which controls the oven temp and timer) broke. When we opened it up, we found the supports were made of cheap plastic, not metal. We tried to order a replacement part for the support but to no avail. We eventually managed to rig something ourselves using metal wire to support it.
Finally, this past month the oven stopped heating. My daughter had noticed while baking that the oven element was much redder in one spot. The next time we turned it on there was no heat and we noticed the element was broken in the spot observed by my daughter, snapped cleanly through. I made the decision to replace the stove rather than fix it this time. In my opinion, this stove was not meant for actual use. It would perhaps serve as a stage prop for people who never use their ovens.

The burner turns itself on and won't turn off. The burner then automatically turns itself on high causing things to burn. This is a fire hazard and also causes a loss of food due to the burner not working correctly.

I am an interior designer who bought in 2009 a Frigidaire professional series stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. This was for a remodel for my mother's kitchen. She is now 97 and still lives in her home. I was just advised by a technician that the pump is out on the dishwasher and that is why it will not drain. This is a dishwasher that is used maybe once a month and on holidays. So, over a two-year period, maybe it was used 20-30 times. I was advised by a Frigidaire CS rep that there was nothing they could do. These are crappy made stuff.
The stove's glass on the front of oven looks as though something has leaked through and left a permanent stain on the glass which cannot be cleaned. My mother's old dishwasher was working after 20 plus years. The stove looked good as well. I am embarrassed that I just wanted an updated kitchen for her that is disappointing at best. I will never recommend this product for any remodels I am involved and will in fact tell my experience of poor quality. The CS rep did not want to share the name of the president of this group with me until I insisted. His name is Jack Truong. He needs to be made aware that his products are not standing up to the test of time even in an ideal use situation. If a family had these products, just think what they would look like versus a 97-year-old woman who rarely uses except when family is here for holiday.

Last week, my Frigidaire electric range model # FEF376AQA became extremely hot while baking fries. It would not shut off or cool down. Finally, I had to unplug from the wall. It stayed hot for several hours. I contacted Frigidaire and I was advised that I need to have a technician take look at it, at my expense, because it is out of warranty. My stove is not beat, it's used but taken care of and looks as good as it did when we first purchased it. I find it rather alarming that there are so many complaints about these stoves and that Frigidaire isn't really taking responsibility. The stove that this one replaced was 35 years old. It was a Kenmore and we felt it was just time to replace it. I should have never done it, it worked better than this one ever did. I know that manufacturers have warranties for a reason, but when so many people have these issues that are serious, you would think this company would step up and take notice.

I bought a Frigidaire Gas stove a little over the warranty time a year ago. These products are so cheap you may as well make them out of tin foil so they can be thrown away when they get dirty. The cook top was blemished when we got it delivered to our home. I decided to let it go as it was only 2 spots. Well a year later, it looks terrible you cannot clean any spots off the top. My grandmother's stove we have for over 15 years still looked like new. I will never purchase any products from Frigidaire . I will be sure to tell everyone I know to not buy them. Electrolux extended warranties are a joke, do not waste your money. We now have a 1-year-old gas stove that looks like it has been through a war. I am the only person who cooks on this stove. The coating from the factory is a poor excuse for a stove top. I do not want to rate this as a "1" but I had to choose 1.

This is an update on my smooth top range catching fire. Frigidaire said that they would only pay for parts since it was six months out of warranty. I believe that trying to use the broiler for the first time started the electrical short that would have burnt my home to the ground had I not returned five minutes after leaving because I forgot something. I have filed a complaint with government product safety commission. Two months later, I finally got the report to sign and send back.
I also forgot to mention that my Frigidaire microwave glass had shattered all over me a week before, causing me and my dog glass cuts that sent me to the hospital. It was not even in use when it happened. So, now, I am using a microwave with radiation leaking because I have no other way to cook unless I want to burn down my house with their oven. The microwave glass exploded while I was cleaning the stove and is mounted above the range.
They sent their insurance adjustor out over a month ago and took my information--nothing yet. Of course, if it was not for my personal injury, they would have blown that off just like the stove (just a warning). Go to the E.R. if you are damaged by their out of warranty appliances. I wish I would have gone for the smoke inhalation after the range caught fire but couldn't afford another visit only a week later.
These people need to be put out of business for the careless regard for human life selling this **. The rest of my appliances are also from Frigidaire. My dishwasher quit working right out of warranty (of course). And now, I am just waiting for the fridge to start causing the problems that I have been hearing. The warranty on it is almost out as well so I imagine that in a few months, it will go out as well.

My Frigidaire electric range ES300 (Model: FEFL67GMA Serial #: VF72947517) that I purchased in October 2009 almost put my home on fire. Thank God I had forgotten my towel because when I came back, I found my home filled with a thick, black smoke coming from the back of the stove. I held my breath and ran through the thick cloud of smoke and hit the clear button which, thank God, shut it down.
After a week, we finally got the nerve to attempt using the oven again to see if something spilled on it. I cleaned the oven thoroughly and turned it on. Within 5 minutes, the thick, black, electrical smelling smoke started pouring out of the control area behind the oven. I turned it off and the smoke stopped.

I do not have a complaint about the store. It is the Frigidaire stove that I bought there on July 22, 2006. The model number is PLEF398DCD. We are only a family of two so the stove has not been overused. Now the oven does not work, so of course, we called a repair person from Lyle's to fix it. After the repair guy was here they called and told me that it would cost $420 to fix it.
Now my problem is why my stove lasted less than five years. We called today and was told that it pertains to the clock and a new control and the overlay needs to be ordered. We told them not to order it because we do not want to spend that much on a repair not knowing what else could go wrong. We will not buy a new Frigidaire as we do not trust the name any more . I do like to use the oven so it will be a different brand. We have tried to call the company and of course, that gets us nowhere. We hoped that Frigidaire would at least give Lyle's the part to us. We have a Frigidaire gas range stove that we bought brand-new 13 months ago (along with a Frigidaire dishwasher and microwave range). We eat out a lot, so it's been used maybe 25 times.
One night last week, my husband set the oven for 400 degrees and placed fries on a cookie sheet in the oven to bake. After dinner was done and we were sitting in our living room watching TV, we noticed a burning smell. As moments went on, it got much stronger, and we started investigating immediately. We threw open all of the windows and doors in our house and grabbed the fire extinguisher, because at this point, we knew there was a fire somewhere. After what seemed like an eternity, we noticed smoke coming from under our stove top.
After turning off the main gas line, unplugging it, and pulling it from the wall, my husband managed to get the stove top off (after unscrewing all the screws). We saw the insulation that surrounds the oven was smoldering. It took pouring water and throwing water-soaked towels to get it to stop and the smoke to subside. By this point, my husband's eyes were swollen and red, and he was crying and coughing from the harsh smell. I, myself, was coughing and found it hard to breathe. And that awful chemical smell stayed in our house for days. We actually had to remove the entire stove to our garage because of the smell.
We contacted Frigidaire, and after much complaining, they sent out a service repairman only to tell him after he reported his findings that they weren't going to do anything about it, because we couldn't prove it wasn't caused by us. We're still trying to fight this, but so far, no luck.

Our fridge malfunctioned; it has leaked all over our flooring, which now is ruined in that area. Last week our front load washer stopped working, and the sensor in the door had to be replaced. Today, as if I wasn't already frustrated enough, I turned on our dryer and heard a loud bang followed by lots of smoke and a loud grinding noise, as it slowed to a complete stop. Lemon times two! And unfortunately, every review I can find on this product (gas wall oven) has had the same result of irreparable door hinges after a year or so. My elderly mother purchased a Frigidaire gas wall oven in 2006. 3 years later (and two repairmen for over $200), the hinges on the oven door were completely broken. No repairman could fix it (stripped screws, insulation coming out, unable to either open or close any more). So she spent $724 on an identical oven (unfortunately, it is the only one I can fit in her wall cutouts, otherwise I would not have replaced with the same oven).
Now, just 4 months past the 1 year warranty, this new oven's door is breaking and probably won't last a month. This is outrageous! I continued to live with an oven that fluctuated in temps and burners that would go on at high temps by themselves but when I contacted anyone regarding this issue, they acted like I was nuts. 2 weeks ago, I got a recall notice on my glass-top slide in range due to a fire hazard as it can turn on the burners by itself and go to high temps automatically.
I was livid when I called the number. They solved this issue by sending me the little caps which fit under the knobs. After installing, the 2 inner burners went to high heat and I could not turn them off again. I called to inform them of my situation. I was told to pull the stove out and unplug it. I let them know it was surrounded by granite and a glass-top but they insured me it would be fine. When I pulled it out the whole glass top cracked across the entire surface. I was crying when I called back and was told I have to wait a week for a service man to fix everything.
I said at this point I wanted a new stove. I was told that would be fine, just let the service man know and he could validate it. Today the service man called them and explained that I would need a new glass top, 4 separate Electronic rotary switches, 4 new knob caps and a new Electric Oven controller. They will not replace the front plate or the oven cover plate that was damaged due to high heat fluctuations because they are cosmetic reasons and not part of the recall.
He told them I wanted the whole thing replaced as the heat had also caused the front plate to peel but they told him that was decorative and everything else could be replaced next week when he got all the parts. I told him to tell them I will be contacting my lawyer and a supervisor told him that they could have replaced my range if in 200,7 the repair man had stated that he was there to address the recall issue but because it was oven related instead they could not replace my stove.
Bull roar. I am mad and hope for a class action suit. I will never be comfortable with this range and am so disappointed in Frigidaire that I will never purchase nor recommend it to anyone!

I bought a Frigidaire stove in July 2005. Suddenly one day the oven does not work, the burners slowly go out one by one. I am now down with one big burner that takes forever to heat up. When you buy an appliance, you expect it to last more than 5 years especially something as a major purchase as a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, and dryer. On the advice of many family members and friends, I bought this Frigidaire stove/oven. I am disabled, on a fixed income, raising my almost 2-year old granddaughter. What am I supposed to do now? I can't bake, and I can't afford to go and buy a new stove let alone fix this one because it will be $184.00 to fix it. I don''t know what to do, or whom to turn to at this point.
All I know is my baby has to eat, I am just very saddened that Frigidaire does not stand behind their products. I am not looking for a free handout, if they would ship me the part that would just fix my stove/oven or maybe just offer me a discount on the part to fix it, I would be grateful. October 10, 2010 I found your address on a consumer affairs website. This post will be long as I want to accurately describe the situation. In August, less than 3 months ago, our old Tappan kitchen stove needed several parts and we were told it would take a long time to obtain them, and were otherwise discouraged from repairing. We were expecting houseguests and needed a working stove. So we decided to purchase a new Frigidaire range. Model no: FPGF3081KFB, serial no: VF93549735.
It was delivered promptly and we had happy expectations of the new stove with its convection oven, warming oven, pilotless ignition, and other features. It was hot weather so I didn’t do much with the oven at first. 1) I noticed almost immediately that the front right burner did not always ignite as it was supposed to and that there was sometimes the clicking sound of the ignition system when burners were already in use and the control adjusted, not in the ignite position.
I called repair service and someone came. The problem did not replicate when he was present. He told me that there was no problem with the burners. He said what I was hearing was the various kinds of metals heating up on the stove top and that the burner would ignite it I was careful to exactly place the two little black plates on the top of the burner. He also informed me that I must be very careful to avoid ever allowing anything to boil over on the stove top as that would almost completely destroy the burner unit.
I wasn’t very happy about any of this, but I accepted the information. I have been very careful, and so far successful in avoiding boil over’s. I check the position of the little plates before turning on the burners. However, I continue to have occasional problems with the ignition of the right front burner. The little sparker flashes, the burner give off gas, but the gas does not ignite. If this were the only problem with the stove I could probably live with it, but I would not feel that I had purchased a good product. However, that was only problem no 1.
2) I tried out the warming oven feature and found it failed to meet expectations. It did not seem to provide adequate heat. I found this disappointing, but not serious. 3) I tried out the oven. I read the manual and understood that with the convection feature I should be prepared for much faster than usual cooking time. I did not find this to be true. The first batch of bread I made took forever to get done more than double the time I usually expect, closer to 2 hours than to 45 minutes. I did not at that time call repair service. I just tried to learn the quirks of the new stove and get it to work. I thought it was operating at a lower temperature than the readout said it was and started running the oven at a higher setting. Again, this was annoying, but not impossible to live with.
4) My mother-in-law came for a visit and attempted to demonstrate the family recipe for baked custard. This was when the stove really demonstrated its capacity to seriously malfunction. The custard recipe requires a long slow cooking time. But, the oven unit doesn’t work properly at low settings. It gives off gas, but does not ignite. It releases quantities of gas, to the extent of creating noticeable odor throughout the house. This is a serious and dangerous problem. I feel concern that persons could possibly be asphyxiated and/or there could be an explosion when attempting to use the stove at a low setting. I am very disturbed at this problem. And of course, the food does not get cooked when gas is released but not ignited.
I called repair service and someone came - eventually. He explained to me that it was not possible for the stove to do what I said it was doing, that there was no way gas could be released and not ignite. I pointed out that three people had witnessed the behavior I was describing. He made a further examination of the stove and said that there was something wrong with some part of the oven ignition system and a valve. It made too loud a poof noise when igniting. He ordered a new unit. I was without an oven and purchasing bread for longer than I liked.
I called the dealer and said that I was unhappy with the stove and wanted it to be replaced or that I receive a refund. The dealer said I was stuck with it and told me an anecdote about an unfortunate experience he had had with a car dealer. After impossible negotiations and too much time off work for me, the repairperson came back and installed the part.
5) The repair company, apparently subcontracted by Frigidaire and the local dealer, are not at all good about setting appointments. The dealer attempted to expedite service, but called me on our landline at 2 in the afternoon to ask if someone could come the next morning. Of course, that was a message I received after 5 o’clock, when I returned from work, and could not return because there was no one at the store to receive the message until 9 the next morning. I had given my cell phone number as well as the landline, but no one bothered to call the cell number.
Eventually the repair contractor called and offered me impossible appointment times. We finally agreed that I would be home on Friday morning and someone would come then. However, I was called on Friday morning and informed that the service person would arrive between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. Therefore, I lost not only the mornings work but the afternoons as well unless I wanted to do without an oven for another week or more. The repair person came and installed the new part and assured me that all was well with the stove. He tested the oven at the 350 degree setting.
This morning I wanted to use the oven at 200 degrees. The kitchen and other rooms filled with gas fumes. We looked at the stove carefully and did some tests with a watch with a second hand. There are times when the electric heating elements are on, gas is audibly being released, but ignition does not occur for more than 4 minutes. There also appear to be times when more gas is being released than is being burned. So far, no explosions have occurred.6) I am observing that the shiny metal racks in the oven are changing color, first becoming iridescent and then dark. They are not dirty, this is some reaction to being heated and cooled. And this is an oven that has barely been used. This is probably not a problem I would complain about if everything else was ok with the stove, but that is not the case.
Further considerations of item 3) When I place an oven thermometer in the oven it registers about 75 degrees cooler than the temperature recorded on the digital board at the top of the stove. This is definitely unacceptable. When we called the dealer about this, he insisted that the problem was with the thermometer we had purchased and that unless the difference was more than 100 degrees nothing would be done about it. This is his position even though everything in my extensive baking experience demonstrates to me that this oven is nowhere near reaching the temperature settings indicated. Everything cooks too slowly.
So to conclude, this stove has 4 problems that are not too large taken individually.a. front burner ignition is temperamental
b. oven racks turning color
c. warming oven doesn’t warm
d. service contractor wont set reasonable appointments
And two problems that run in the range from unacceptable to hazardous.a. thermostat is inaccurate by about 75 degrees
b. oven fails to ignite all gas released Oh yes, the dealer said that to qualify as a lemon there would have to be at least 8 problems.
You may well believe that I am a dissatisfied customer.

We purchased a Frigidaire Range Model number FGS3065KF from an online retailer. It arrived in fine time. We installed it, and just 3 weeks after getting it installed, I used the highest output BTU burner (front right) to can with. Although the pot I use is large, it's not overly large. However, the heat from the flame started melting the front faceplate of the stove. If I'd been away from the stove or not paying attention, it could have potentially caught on fire. When I called to ask for warranty (since my brand new stove is now melted on the front and I thought they should know about this potential safety hazard), I was told that yes, they have heard of this happening, but no, they won't do anything about it. Sorry, it's just considered "wear and tear" and that they weren't that concerned about fire.
We are now in possession of an expensive stove that's nearly new and melted. I'm afraid to use that front burner with large pots (even though that's what it's designed for) or to boil large quantities of water (because of the heat reflective properties and fire risk), so I feel I've been cheated. Who puts plastic right next to the highest heat output of anything? I work for a stove manufacturer in the outdoor business, and if we let these types of things pass our testing process, we'd be in hot water in no time. I followed the protocol for reporting a warranty problem on the Frigidaire website at the behest of their "customer service" person over 1 month ago, and have heard nothing. All I want is to have this piece replaced and to understand from a designer how this burner is supposed to work (there's nothing about pot size limitations in the owners manual).

This is not on the recall list but should be! This is a smooth top convection oven, Frigidaire stove serial #VF23417069.

I have had my electric range approximately 7 years. In the last 4 months, we have encountered the same problem for 4 times as of tonight. The range indicate F9 which the manual indicates that it is a motor door lock fault. The repairman has replaced the motor board three times, not to say the inconvenience of preparing meals. We also were told to replace the brake to the range less than a week ago (July 22) and, low behold, the same problem has occurred again on July 31.

The range dose not include a trim kit and a cleaner for the range top. There's also no broiler tray. I have a 2006 glass-top Gallery series Fridigaire stove. I went to bake, turned the oven on and the panel in the back of the stove caught on fire, it was in flames. I grabbed the handle, pulled the stove from the wall, then ran, turned the electric off and beat the fire out. The stove's circuits are fried and the stove has been on recall. They want to fix this stove and put it back in my house. I think they need to replace it completely. It was purchased at Lowe's. My house could have burnt down. What can I do about this? Thanks.

The model number is not one listed on the recall so they will not replace even though it’s doing the same thing. This could have burned our house down if we had not come home early that day. I am afraid to leave my house and when I do, I’m afraid to leave my bulldog there, worried that the range will burn the house down.

In August 2007, we bought our Ceramic Top Frigidaire stove from Lowes. Model number: FEFL796SA Serial number: VF72829513. Shortly afterward, I had the left front eye on low heat and had left the kitchen. My husband found the eye on the highest heat and the pot dry and smoking. The dial was still set to low. We had to turn the knob backwards several times to get the eye to turn off. This has happened several times. We are careful not to leave the kitchen when using this eye. A friend of ours told us about a recall on the flat top stoves. This led me to call Frigidaire.
I did not write down the lady's name who I spoke with, but she was unable to tell me if our stove was included in the recall due to her computer not working and the website not working. After several attempts she said she couldn't find the information. I quickly found the information myself and our serial numbers were not included in the recall. I was surprised to find that these stoves were causing all kinds of problems. Not just what I am experiencing. I'm worried to even leave my breaker on when I'm not using my stove or when I am not at home. I can't believe a product this dangerous is still on the market.

We were shocked by this and immediately turned off the circuit breaker that controls the stove. A serviceman from an independent company came and diagnosed the problem as a burned out clock unit. He indicated that this was not the first time he has seen the same problem with this stove.

Stove range model # FGFL79DBE; purchased from Lowe's in December 2005. Used the broiler for the very first time on May 9, 2010 and the stove caught on fire. Insulation and/or wiring began burning inside of the stove. As the house filled up with black smoke, I disconnected the gas line and removed the stove to my outside patio as it continued burning. There was smoke damage to my ceiling, walls, and to the exhaust fan above the stove. I called Lowe's; they referred me to "Frigidaire". Frigidaire customer service employee "Ryan" (Philippines) stated, "They would replace the stove if it was determined unsafe," and gave me telephone numbers to service techs but took down none of my information. Service tech came out confirmed stove had been on fire (burning). He did not dismantle the stove to find out the definite cause of the fire because he felt the bottom line was that the stove was unsafe and to be replaced, advising me "under no circumstances was I to place that stove back inside of my house and to leave it outside and covered under the heavy plastic sheathing" since it had continued smoldering.
There was some kind of evidence that there had been some kind of pest inside of the stove at some point in time, and most likely from either Lowe's or Frigidaire's warehouse, but the service tech could not determine that had been the reason for the stove catching fire since he did not dismantle it and deemed it unsafe and hazardous! I did not hear from either Lowe's or Frigidaire for more than 3 weeks. I called Lowe's who now offered to sell me a new stove with a rebate. I called Frigidaire to speak to Ryan; only the customer service people didn't know who Ryan was because there are "two separate customer call centers", one in Georgia and the other in the Philippines. After 3 days of trying to find Ryan, I learned about the other customer care center in the Philippines. I called looking for Ryan (this is already a month without a stove). Ryan was unavailable (how convenient), so now I am explaining all of this to yet another person who I can hardly understand since they can't speak very good English.
She now tells me "that Frigidaire will not replace the stove but will send me a rebate for a new purchase." After telling her this stove caught on fire and I had already been told it would be replaced by Frigidaire (Ryan) and she could verify that by "their recorded quality control customer service recordings"; she states "she is taking the report for their liability department," and once the report is complete I ask to speak to her supervisor who is also "unavailable, but would call me back with two hours". Needless to say, I never received that call, nor have I received anything from their liability department.
My stove remains covered under heavy plastic sheathing on my patio as it has been since I dragged it burning from my house on May 9th, 2010 and injuring my back in the process. On May 27, 2010 I sent a 9-page written letter to Keith McLaughlin (president), Robert Cook (CEO), and Electrolux at their corporate address (250 Bobby James Expressway, Martinez, Georgia 30917), detailing all of these occurrences and included photos of the fire damage to the stove and my kitchen/laundry room, etc. There has been no response whatsoever from Frigidaire, not their customer care people or their corporate officers. As stated by the tech, "the stove was in brand new condition"; it was only 4 years old and extremely clean since I take care of my appliances. I had no problems with it until I turned on the broiler for the first time; as soon as I turned it on in the low position black smoke began pouring out of the vents. I was terrified after already suffering a devastating house fire in August 2005.
The ironic twist is that I had purchased this stove after that fire when I was forced to move into my rental house next door in December 2005. I was completely terrified when black smoke began pouring from the stove after turning the broiler on for the 1st time. I was an emotional wreck for more than a week knowing what could and would have happened had I not climbed behind the stove, disconnected the gas line and removed it from my house. Frigidaire's corporate officers are aware of these facts contained in the letter sent to them. I have heard nothing from them whatsoever. All I asked was "for them to honor their agreement to replace the stove as Ryan stated it would be". I was not asking that they repair the damages to my home since I was willing to do that myself. I am going on 2 months without a stove in my house. I have an 85-year old elderly mother to care for and I can not afford anymore meals eaten out. Frigidaire could care less about its consumers and after reading all these other posts about "fires" in their stoves, I'm wondering if that might not be the reason that Home Depot stopped carrying these products.
I cannot even find a local address to serve Frigidaire with small claims court summons. They said they would replace the stove, and they need to honor their word and replace it! The following are the consequences: meals eaten out during the last 6 weeks totaling more than $600.00 (due to my mom's special dietary needs), painting kitchen, laundry and dining room, steam cleaning carpets and cleaning fabric items to remove smoke smell from residence, replacing exhaust fan or flushing out exhaust system to rid of smoke smell.

I complained to Frigidaire that there was a design flaw in their slide-in range. The space between the front two window panels becomes dirty/greasy quite quickly. The only way to clean the front window is to hire a technician at $61 to remove the door and clean it which I did. I complained to the office of Frigidaire and eventually was told by the escalation manager that the product has been around for 80 years and that the stove does leak residue in between the glass panels but that it is my responsibility to either call a technician to have it cleaned or clean it myself.
I have tried to remove the front door but so far, I have not been able to get it out. There are no directions in the manual I got when I purchased the stove three years ago and there is nothing in the manuals that suggest that I need to physically remove the door, unscrew the panel and clean it. Of course, if I make a mistake and break the door, it will be my error and I will have to replace the stove ($1100).
When I spoke to Frigidaire, I requested that I have the oven replaced. However, they said that all their ovens leak between the two panels. I then suggested that I would like compensation for the stove, however, Frigidaire said they do not compensate their customers and that I should make such a request to the business that sold their product to me.

First and foremost, if there are these many consumer complaints regarding Frigidaire ranges with fire and safety hazards then why haven't these products been removed from the retail world and consumer's homes? After reading a good majority of the complaints with Consumer Affairs, I'm surprised that a total recall of the products have not taken place. We purchased a Frigidaire Smoothtop Range in 2004, (model #FEFL63DSA). Like others have repeatedly complained about this range is a problem. The right front large burner from day one has had proper heating issues. This being our first experience with a Smoothtop, we lived with it. Next is the oven heat and ventilation from the oven which will burn you when the oven door is closed.
The heat from the oven has discolored the top exterior of the oven door. Now, just this weekend, the oven element no longer works so we have to replace this at our own expense. I'm very worried over the safety of this product and would like to know what to do from here. My previous range/oven lasted 38 years and I never had a problem with it. Trust me, Lowe's (purchase place) will not refund or replace this product. They don't even carry parts for it. I have to order the oven element online and have it shipped then contact someone to install it. What a joke!

On April 27, 2010, I had an unplanned stop at home around 9:00 am. I was only home 10 minutes when I heard this loud snapping, zapping and crackling sound from my kitchen. When I ran into the kitchen, there were flames shooting out of the back of the electric stove 8-9 inches up the back splash. I quickly grabbed the stove door and pulled the stove into the middle of the room. I then quickly unplugged it. The flames started to subside. I then ran to the garage and used a dolly and got it out of my house and used a fire extinguisher to put the rest of the fire out. Needless to say, the house was full of smoke, and I was shaking, thinking if I had not been home, my entire house would be gone along with the family pets.
Please note, there was a recall on the stove in October of 2009 for the issue of the oven allowing moisture to get into the control panel, which would cause it to turn on, short circuit and start on fire! Being notified of the recall, we had a repair person come and fix the problem in October of 2009. Watching the repair person, he replaced the control module and then used a silver heat tape around the back of the stove to stop the moisture from coming up from the oven and getting to the control panel. Apparently it didn't work, We still had a fire! (I have the documentation of the recall and the repairs done). Immediately after extinguishing the stove, I contacted Sears from whom we bought the stove in 2003 and they referred us to Frigidaire Liability Department. I received a voice mail stating it would take up to 3 business days for the department to get back to me. I did not allow that to happen. With complete determination, I hounded all departments until I spoke with a real person from the liability department. Mary **, told me she would mail me a liability letter which I would have to fill out. Here is the liability letter to which she sent.
"Tuesday, April 27, 2010 Ms. C.: Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding an alleged malfunction of your appliance and the subsequent damage to your property . We would like to apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced with your appliance. You have the option of contacting your homeowner's insurance company regarding this claim. If they settle the claim under the terms of your policy, the insurance company will then act as the recovery agent and subrogate the claim back to us. If a settlement is reached, the insurance company will refund all or part of your deductible. If you are not filing with your insurance company, we would be happy to evaluate your claim. In order to proceed with the investigation there is additional information we must have.
Please forward the following as marked: (X) Copy of original purchase receipt for appliance involved. (X) Model and serial number of appliance involved. (X) Copies of work order(s) to repair appliance or diagnosis of the appliance. (X) Color photos of the damaged property. (X) Actual part involved in alleged appliance malfunction. (X) Age of property prior to alleged appliance malfunction. If less than 2 years old, please provide a copy of the original sales receipts. (X) Two estimates to repair damaged property, (An itemized list of materials and costs.) Please return the above marked information within the next thirty (30) days. Upon receipt, we will proceed with the investigation and be in contact with you."
After receiving the letter I then had to schedule a service person to come out and determine what caused the fire and to see if the stove was repairable. Mary told me Frigidaire would reimburse us for the cost of the service call and that Frigidaire would give us $150 as a one-time goodwill gesture for the inconvenience of not having a stove to cook on.
It is May 25th and I still have not seen that money. Fortunately we did not have to have repairs to the home made, due to my quick thinking of pulling the stove away from the back splash and that the back splash was ceramic. I was able to scrub it clean.
It took a week or more for the electrical smell to leave the house too. I then provided them with pictures of the smoke and flame damage to the wall, copies of the recall service repair, a picture of the serial # and Model # tag, the stove itself, a copy of the original sales receipt and a scanned copy of the service call to determine the cause of the fire. To which, it was confirmed the control module had short circuited and started on fire. Once Mary ** received this Mary then stated that Frigidaire would replace the stove. I told her I do not want another Frigidaire product in my house and that I will be purchasing a different brand. Mary ** then stated that Frigidaire would buy back the stove for its original purchase price only because I had the sales receipt.
However for this to happen, I had to provide them with another copy of the sales receipt and to peel the model and Serial # tag off the stove and send it to Frigidaire, which I did. I sent it to them certified signature mail to verify that it was received by Frigidaire. It was received May 15, 2010 according to the United States Postal Service.
As of today May 25, 2010, I have not received any money. So I tried to contacted Mary at Frigidaire and she is out of the office until May 27. So I started hounding the department until someone would give me some information. According to Deidre, she was able to see that the request for the $150 (one-time goodwill gesture) and the buy-back amount for the stove was submitted for a check request yesterday May 24, 2010 almost 10 days after the documentation was received by Frigidaire. I have now requested the Supervisor of Mary ** to contact me. The saga is continuing.
From April 27, 2010 to May 11, I did not have a stove to use, which caused me to cook on an outside propane camp stove and/or restaurants and fast food. We purchased a stove May 11 having to write 2 checks, one for the amount that we had in our savings account to pay for half of the new stove and another check that is dated May 31st for the other half, to which we believed we would be reimbursed by then. Today being May 25, we are scrambling to cover the amount of the 2nd check.

We called a repairman and said he wasn't sure what the problem was. He suggested that we change the clock timer, which he felt we could do for it was easy to do. We did this but it still came up F1 error. He suggested that it might be the keypad or the oven probe nothing worked. By this time, we also had our oven lock and were usable to unlock it.
Finally, we took it to another repairman and he had to hold a button down for 5 seconds, which unlocked the oven and the F1 error went off this all cost us over 800 dollars. It is now a year later and we are back at square one our stove started beeping F1 error on Feb. 11 and has not stopped we can only stop it by unplugging it and then when we try to set the clock the F1 error comes back on.
We have talked to Sears and they say it is the clock control. We have talked to Frigidaire and they say they can't do anything because we have to go to Sears because they are under contract. We have sent the two clocks that we have to see if there is anything wrong with them and fixed if there is. They both came back saying that there is nothing wrong with the clocks but when we put the clock back in the range it comes up F1 error.
We are now looking at taking it back to the second repairman which will cost us another 200 dollars. This all costs money which by the time we do this we could have bought another stove. Sears is passing the buck and Frigidaire is passing the buck. Here I sit with an almost brand new stove that doesn't work. I like baking and cooking and after hearing about the problem that Frigidaire has with their ranges, I sure will not be buying anything Frigidaire. My continuous cleaning propane stove is 4 years old and out of warranty. We had been out of town for a week. When I got home, I set the oven to 400, placed food in to be baked and went into the other room knowing that it would take 45 minutes to an hour for the food to be done. Within 30 minutes or so, I began smelling something burning and went to check. The heat around the oven told me something was wrong so I turned it off and removed the food, which was black. A couple of weeks ago, same thing happened with the same burner. I had to pull the oven out and unplug both times to get burner to turn off. This time, I noticed it just before I was heading to bed. It's very dangerous. I need to follow up with Frigidaire.

I bought a Frigidaire double oven in March 2007, and the hinges melted and the door eventually fell off by September 2008. Sears, where I had bought the oven, replaced it with the same model. And by May 2009, the same problem happened. Now Sears says they will not replace the 2nd oven. It seems like this should be a recall, because obviously, this a defect with this oven. I saw that other people have had the same problem.

I bought a Frigidaire electric range model ES340 in 5/07 and have had multiple instances in which the top burners have stopped vacillating and stayed on, causing the stove to get enormously hot. The only way I can turn it off is by hitting the fuse box off. The company came in 5/08 and "repaired" it, but it is happening again in 7/09.

We purchased our electric Frigidaire Professional Series ceramic top range in 2006, after repairs were done on our home due to Hurricane Katrina. The broil would not work at all from the beginning. In less than 9 months, 03/07, the complete oven (bake, broil, convection, clock and all) went out. It was under warranty and was repaired. I was skeptical about this product so when I was offered an extended warranty, I purchased it. Thank goodness I did. Then again in 2008, same identical problem. Oven, bake, broil, convection and clock would not work. Once again, the service technician came out and repaired it. My extended warranty ran out in March 2009 and I could not afford to pay $93.
Well here I am once again, July 23, 2009, without an oven/bake/broil/convection. I am contacting Frigidaire today to find out what they will do to, once and for all, to solve this ongoing problem with my $1,500 range. FYI, I received a 3rd degree burn (about 3-inch diameter) on my right arm yesterday because I was trying to bake beans in my microwave. If my Frigidaire oven had been operating, this could have been avoided! I am one phone call away from calling my attorney if this company does not respond positively to my third complaint. Especially after reading the numerous consumer reports on this company's products.
When will there be a recall on these products? We have been told that it will cost about $500 to repair this problem. We cannot afford this, that is a third of the original cost of the range. Frigidaire/Electrolux are playing with people's lives with these faulty appliances. FYI, we also have a Frigidaire Commercial Series upright freezer ($1,200) that had to have repairs after being used for only 6 months. I will never buy this brand again!

We too bought the Frigidaire gas wall oven and the same thing happened after one year. The hinges pulled right out of the oven. Now we are out an oven, out $800.00 and will never buy a Frigidaire product again. This company needs to stop selling this product. It is obviously defective.

Beware of Frigidaire ranges! We also purchased a ceramic cooktop range in 2003 and have had our burners turn on spontaneously, without the knob being turned on. This has happened not once, not twice, but three separate times. The first time, the stove was still under warranty. We thought "Oh well, they took care of it and now we're safe." So wrong! About two years later, the exact same thing occurred. After much complaining with the customer service rep in the Philippines (yeah, other than knowingly marketing defective products, they're giving away our jobs), they agreed to repair our stove again free of charge (2nd replacement of the main board).
I specifically asked them what would happen should this occur again because by this point, we knew it would. That was in 2006. Well lo and behold, here we are again in July 2009 and our burners are turning themselves on again. We went through four different reps before they agreed to cover the cost of repairs yet again. My husband demanded a new stove and they offered us 50% off retail. My guess is that would be just enough so it doesn't cost Frigidaire a dime. We don't really want another Frigidaire stove, it was just the principle of the issue. Needless to say, we turned down their offer and will never, ever subject our family to the dangers of a Frigidaire range again. If anyone hears of a class action suit against them, please post so the rest of us can join in.

I have a 10/2003 Frigidaire stove model #FEF455BBB that was made in Canada for the above company. It is an electric range/double oven with a electric griddle. The burners will randomly turn from low to high heat without any cause or forewarning. I have had a teapot simmering on low and walked into another room only to come back and find it on high, with the room full of steam and the pot totally empty. It has also happened while cooking food and causing burning of the food which could have caused a fire at any moment. One night, I had a pot of water simmering because I was ill and wanted tea. I fell asleep and awoke to the smell of something extremely hot. The burner had switched from low to high and had evaporated at least a quart of water and the teapot was blazing hot and smoking. I am terrified that this stove will cause a house fire.
