When I contacted FlatRate to store all my things in New York, everything went really well. They were on time and they pretty much took care of all the furniture and boxes that I had at the time. The process overall for signing the contract was pretty smooth, as well. I got my things in the storage for more than a year and then I decided when I would permanently transfer. I moved my things from New York to Texas and that part of the move is where I had the issues with.

The process of contacting was pretty smooth, the timings were pretty good, and they were really respectful and delivered everything else with care. But they lost a couple of my furniture and they were two big pieces of furniture. What they told me was that apparently, those two big pieces were put in a different storage. But they didn't tell me that. In my mind, I paid for a unit where all my things were there so, I don't understand how they missed two big pieces.

That was in December and since then, I've been trying to reach someone in customer service and nothing. I've sent hundreds of emails and phone calls. I talked to people for the moving department and they gave me the email of this person, Brian, in customer service. I sent him an email and called him directly but nothing so far. Moving things from one place to another was quite good but the storage and then delivery is where they lack in communication and the clarity to the clients is not quite there yet.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had moving. After being told to pay additional money to “protect” my valuable items they were moving, they then broke multiple expensive items. After they asked for receipts for the items to reimburse for them, they decided to then claimed the items were worth >50% less than the receipts showed. They have since ignored my emails and phone calls for weeks trying to get a resolution. Do NOT recommend.

FlatRate was professional. After I got in touch with them, we scheduled a visit where one of their people came out and inspected to get a list of the amount of stuff that we needed to move. That guy also gave us a quote and scheduled when the move would happen. Then they went to New Jersey and picked up my stuff in a big truck. The next day, they came up to New York and picked up the rest of the stuff. That same day, they drove it all the way up to New Haven and dropped them off. The movers moved quickly and they worked hard. They were nice and they packed everything pretty well.

FlatRate Moving did the move quickly. They packed what I didn't have packed. They had to store it overnight because we got to my loading dock late. We couldn't move it in after a certain time and we had to get special permission to move it in the next day. But because the move was done quickly and they took everything apart, a few of my things were damaged in the process. I have a cabinet electrical fireplace that doubles as a TV stand. They turned that on its side and now it's all crooked. It doesn't even sit level anymore and it's scratched in the front. My dresser is a cheap one but now, it's even sagging more in the middle because the leg in the middle wasn't put on properly.

My headboard got scratched. That shouldn't even have been turned at all. It shouldn't have to come apart because they had the whole truck and it was just me. They didn't have to pack the truck the way that they packed it. They could have packed it loosely but I understand from their experiences that the tighter the pack, the less movement. The representative who sold me the job was calling me every single day, returning my voice calls. When I called him back and told him that something was damaged, I haven't heard from him since so I was more disappointed with that. I know I'm not gonna get reimbursed for any of this damage.

We were disappointed and frustrated with our experience and the last-minute cancellation of our scheduled moving appointment. Moving is an already stressful process, and relying on professionals was supposed to alleviate some of that burden. However, the sudden cancellation of our appointment disrupted our moving plans significantly, leaving us to scramble with coordinating the reservation of the freight elevator, and having to execute the move during working hours which affects our time off allotment. Furthermore, the lack of adequate communication, and little regard for our time on the day of the originally scheduled move was unacceptable. We did not hear about the potential delay until we called FlatRate due to their already being late. We appreciate FlatRate working with us to reschedule the move to the following day, but their absolute lack of accountability is unsatisfactory for a professional business.

A gentleman and a young lady helped bring everything out and moved everything into my apartment. They gave me a list of everything to make sure everything was there and everything was fine. I've used FlatRate Moving for several moves. And what made me use them was their policy of flat rate pricing versus hourly pricing for some other moving companies that I never felt confident in what my final price would be. My expectation was FlatRate would do what was listed on their website or on my initial call in terms of inventorying and what they would provide versus what I needed to provide. And I was never disappointed. My most recent move was a few months ago. The ones from a few years ago were always pleasant or else I would not have continued with the company. I found out in my most recent move that I had a repeat customer reward on my account of $100. And there was a four-year gap between the two moves. So, I was very impressed that I didn't know I had that reward, and that they told me about it and applied it to this most current move. I've recommended them to lots of friends and family over the course of time.

I had a good experience with FlatRate Moving. They were more professional. I could tell with how they did their contracts, how they communicated with me. They laid everything out very easy for me to understand what they would and wouldn't do. I had had my stuff in storage for about a year with FlatRate in New York City, in the Bronx. And I knew that I needed my stuff to get to Kentucky from New York. FlatRate was not my cheapest quote, which is why I ended up getting scammed, because I went with a cheaper quote from another company to pick my stuff up from the storage unit and drive it long distance to Kentucky. But FlatRate was easy to set up the move-out with. Unfortunately, the company that I hired never showed up to move my stuff.

I reached out to FlatRate and asked them for a quote for the stuff that was in my storage unit and how much it would cost to get to Kentucky. They were transparent with pricing and their agreements. They knew exactly what stuff I had in storage already, gave me a timeline for my move when I could expect it. They were easy to communicate with.

It was a week of a window to get to Kentucky and they stayed in contact with me. Two days before the move, they said, “We're gonna be there on Friday.” Once it got closer to Friday, they gave me a time window which was 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Friday, the day of the delivery, they called me and said, “It's gonna be actually closer to this time.” They narrowed it down within a 30-minute window. And the driver called me 15 minutes before his arrival. So, it was easy to communicate with them. I didn't have to reach out to them to figure out where they were at or when they were coming. They always communicated that with me.

The person that showed up to help me was professional. He was helpful, got all my stuff out of the truck and got it where they needed to be. They were dusty, but that was just because they were in storage for a year. If they were in boxes or tubs, or however I left them, they were in that condition. There was one item that was damaged, but it was insignificant, so it wasn't an issue. It was a bed frame and one little section had a chip out of it. But I could glue that back together.

I already had my things prepacked so the crew just had to load up my boxes in the moving truck. Then, they wrapped up some pieces of furniture that I had. I expected that. It was all in my contract and that's what I got. They were very friendly and careful about my things. It was great. My mom obtained the quote from FlatRate and it was easy because right after she spoke with them, they drafted up a contract for her. They included the amount of boxes I was gonna have, the amount of lamps, and everything they knew what they were gonna go into. The quote came back to us very quickly, which was good. They accidentally charged me a little bit more than what my contract was. It was a glitch on their end and that worried me a little bit but as soon as I called, they were super apologetic and everything was fixed immediately.

Before my move, I was making sure of the times so I would call in sometimes and they always answered my questions. They also even called me before my move just to make sure that I didn't have anything that I needed to add to my contract in terms of more boxes. They were very forthcoming with communication, which I appreciated.

FlatRate did all the packing and the move. They did the packing on the first day, and they moved everything and delivered the second day. They were helpful, but they had to wait for the freight elevator or if we said, “Don't move this. Move that one." It was very easy to communicate. They had a maximum number of boxes that they were ready to unpack because of contract, and they did that. Also, they also took apart some furniture and office displays, and put them back. They had a carpenter who showed up at the right time. He did his job and went to do something else. It was a complete service.

I would not recommend FlatRate Moving to a friend. I’m dissatisfied with this. And I would not use them anymore. I used them for my relocation to New York, to Miami. Everything went well when we did it in New York. But it's still going back and forth to the point that I'm considering to have a lawyer involved because it has been bad. It's negative in their approach on answering. It's all documented on email. I'm very dissatisfied with the customer care.

I received a payment, which is not satisfactory, for the insurance that I bought on the move and all the damage that they did. Compared to the damage they did, it's very small. But it's more than the payment. It's about the customer care, the attention to details, and the support. Some of the most difficult moments in life are when people move from one home to another. We move personal belongings and try to have a partner that is caring and is with us. I did not have this from FlatRate.

There were a lot of damages into the products that arrived. We expected a bit of damages here and there. But I have a design chair that arrived destroyed and with the glue next to it. So, it got into the warehouse. They tried to glue back. And they pretended that it arrived here destroyed. That was intentional damaging and not being transparent. It was a design chair, something that I personally care about because it was a gift.

I tried to explain to the team. It's personal emails on different people connected. But they never got back, unless they got back as to amount. I'm trying to decide what to do. There was one person, which was the sales agent, that helped me from FlatRate. Even he couldn't understand why the customer care team was not paying attention to this despite several emails. Also, FlatRate sent a smaller crew which did not finish the job on time, and caused me a lot of stress with the building. That's on the top of the damages. I said, “You send a smaller team to handle all of this. He couldn't finish the job.” They did not send the right crew to handle this job.

The move was November 29th. It's February 15th. It's still not finalized. And we're talking about a few thousand dollars. Having a few thousand dollars would never change the bad taste and the bad customer service that I received. I didn't do this for money. It was a question of principle of I paid on time, I bought an insurance, and I did everything I had to do. So, when something like this happened, which is out of the ordinary, I expect minimum attention, which did not happen.

FlatRate Moving was fantastic. The crew that we had was unbelievable. All three of them were very professional. They had to take me from Connecticut up to Massachusetts. It was an over three and a half hour drive. I was so worried. They gave me a fixed price and held on to it. I just had a lot of boxes and a lot of personal things. But they did everything that I asked and more. And the most important thing is, I knew what my price would be at the end. The rep went through a serious thing when his sister had died, and he still was professional.

My experience was this because I dealt with such a great guy at the company. And I'm lucky that I was able to get a senior guy like him. He was very detailed but so am I. I gave him a lot of detail and kept him up-to-date as we were packing. We packed 99% of the things ourselves. We just hired them to move it. We didn't have them unpacking or packing, but they do that. And he did the unpacking for my friend. %hey stored for my friend for a year and he was very satisfied with them.

Ricardo was excellent. And he had a lot of experience. He was very personable that he was almost too personal. He's a nice guy. Also, the movers have worked together for a number of years. It was obvious. They all knew what they had to do. All three were fantastic. They knew what they had to do. And this was a long trip for them. They got to my house at 8:45 in the morning. And they were at my house for two three hours. We had to first drive over three hours to Massachusetts. And they had to unpack. I have a storage facility on site at my new place and my home. They did all of this. They didn't leave Massachusetts until it was 4:30. And they were first going to drive that. That's a long day.

I gave them a nice cash tip. I hope that they appreciated it. I felt good with what I gave them. Nobody asked me to give them that, but I did it and they were worth it. I would use them again if I had to move again. I also called up the president of their company and I made it known because they were very hard workers and I appreciate that.

I've had an awesome experience with FlatRate Moving. When I went online and put my phone number in, someone gave me a call. He asked me exactly what I was moving. I gave him an estimate, and he said, "If this is not all of it or you're not sure, you wanna ask or take away, call or text me back." I texted him back and he called me back. I added some more things and the price didn't change too much. The price was less than I thought it would be. Every time I spoke to someone, they were very helpful. They were very personable as well. I had someone call me prior to the moving date and to make sure everything was okay. I ended up having to change my date. That went well. They were also on time the day of.

FlatRate Moving is an excellent company. The drivers and the guys who moved the furniture went way above and beyond. I had a little bit more than they expected, but they said, "No worries. We'll take care of it." They helped me even with little things that I had not taped up or boxed up. It was the best move I've ever had. I referred a friend afterwards because they were such very efficient and quick movers. I used FlatRate Moving twice because we left some things behind and I decided I wanted to go back to get those things another day. I called them back again. We had a different crew, but they were just as phenomenal as the first group.

I was moving from New York to Boston, and I packed 80% to 85% of my items. One of the gentlemen that went to my apartment to see how much stuff I had said he was gonna send me 20 boxes. I told them I had a newborn baby and I could not do everything in one day, so they were gonna pack on Friday, June 23rd, and they wanna move me on Saturday, June 24th. However, they called me Thursday afternoon, telling me that something happened and they won't be able to pack on Friday. They were gonna have to do everything on Saturday.

We left the same day we packed. We left Saturday, 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I left first because that was a five-hour drive, then they left right behind me. I texted the driver, and he told me that they were late. It was 10 o'clock at night when he told me that they were almost here. By the time they got here, they took everything off the truck and put it inside my house. They ended up leaving around 2 o'clock in the morning and we ended up unpacking everything around 3 o'clock in the morning as well.

If FlatRate Moving would have kept their word and packed on Friday and moved me on Saturday, that would have been perfect. At the time, my newborn was only 10 months old. Imagine the craziness that was going on. Plus, it was not only one baby 'cause I had an eight-year-old and a six-year-old at the time as well. It was three kids that I was dealing with. FlatRate Moving gave me 10% back of the cost of my move, but I still wasn't happy with how they did the whole transition. Overall, I didn't have a good experience with the office, but I had a good experience with the movers. They were very helpful when they were loading everything.

FlatRate Moving gave me a few quotes before I agreed to pay anything. Initially, the service was good. But it ended up badly. My stuff was being sent to Colombia and I had to talk to government entities, shipping companies and fulfillment companies when it arrived there. They were speaking to me as if I were the liaison between FlatRate and the customer, and I'm the customer. I was translating for FlatRate as well as sending emails and they were not responding. My stuff ended up being stuck in storage for over a month and a half and I got charged for that, so I paid an extra $800 for my storage.

I went to the Better Business Bureau and I complained. FlatRate screwed me over because they didn't tell me half the things that I had to deal with and they weren't available. So I was very upset with them. Better Business said they would help me with the payment and that they were sorry that I went through that. And I thought it was good. Finally, they said they looked over the situation and that I was partly responsible. FlatRate sent me a $200 check and I haven't cashed it yet. But I will never use their services again, because they didn't look like they knew what they were doing. They didn't show me that they cared and that was upsetting. FlatRate tried to resolve the matter but it wasn't to my liking.

When you're in a different country, you're dealing with different laws and processes. I was stumbling into all these things as it was happening. They didn't give me a list. I was told I needed a tax ID number for taxes and no one informed me about that. I thought I had to pay the shipping company the taxes directly. But there was a huge learning curve. I learned a lot about fulfillment and shipping during this process.

The moving people were really nice and helpful, but a lot of our things were damaged. Our bed was damaged, in particular. Initially, Flatrate gave us a hard time. They told us that we could only be compensated based on the weight of the bed. It was like multiplying the weight of the bed times five cents. That was how they did their reimbursements if you were to file a claim with them. So they were initially quoting us something ridiculous, like $200, to go towards our bed, but I made a fuss about it. Another thing was that they didn't answer their phone. It was impossible to get in touch with somebody. Initially, when you're assigned to an agent, you'll hear from them. The communication is great. But as soon as you're done with your move and you have an issue, it's really hard to get in contact with them.

After I made a fuss, sending multiple emails, calling, and leaving a bunch of voicemails, Flatrate compensated us for the bed. We ended up getting $800. It still wasn't enough, but it was better than the $200. Then in our condo, they chipped a chunk of the wall out. But they have insurance for that. So my building was able to get in contact with them and repair it. Everybody should know to stay away from them.

FlatRate Moving's storage facility is horrible. Their storage manager, Brunetta, has no sense of customer service. She only answers your emails when you need to make an appointment. She makes it very difficult for you. You can't get an appointment to access your items in storage, unless it's a minimum of two weeks out. She dictates what time. So, you have to accommodate their schedule. They don't accommodate the customer's schedule. We were spending a lot of money with them in storage because we moved just prior to the pandemic. We were using a great deal of storage and we were paying very high fees.

They would raise prices in storage. They're supposed to give you 30 days notice, but they didn't always give us 30 days notice. They would randomly raise the price. When we debated, "Where's the 30 day notice?" They said they sent it and I didn't have a record of it. They ruined a lot of things. They showed us pictures of where they would store our belongings before we signed the contract. Then after they signed the contract, all our carpets were not in a climate controlled environment. They would never give you an answer or tell you exactly where they stored them. So, we had a major insurance claim.

The moving experience was okay. The guys who moved really did their best. The guy who prepared the estimate did their best. The storage was a nightmare and the customer service around it was horrible. Brunetta was particularly bad. She has no training in customer service, no regard for the customer and helping the customer. FlatRate owed us refunds. It took forever to get them. I also recommended them to a friend. Her move was a nightmare. They were supposed to unpack. They did not schedule enough time for the move. So, they left her where they just opened things and shoved things randomly in closets. So, I could never recommend them.

It's very expensive and they were very untrustworthy. I'm still in the process of setting up after the move, but when things calm down, I will be issuing on X. I will be writing about them in a public forum so that people don't make the same mistake I did. After I finished my claims and opened my last box, I discovered that my entire liquor collection was stolen including a magnum of Dom Perignon Champagne. It was thousands of dollars. I closed the claims. It was too late to claim it. I had furniture that was damaged. I had extra insurance and it did not cover the damage that they did. I had two moves with them. The first one was a simpler move. It was really the storage that put me over the edge. There was a lot of water damage on furniture and all my carpeting.

But we didn't know exactly when because we lived in a co-op in New York, and we had to wait for the board to approve the people who were buying our apartment. So they were very flexible, and every time I called, they were just so agreeable to moving the date or doing whatever we had to do. It was so easy to work with. Plus it was a double move for us because we had to move out of our apartment. They kept everything in storage for us until we needed it to be moved out again. Everything went so smoothly. Everybody was great. They were very careful. They were also considerate and polite.

We had packed most of our things into boxes ourselves. They packed some of the electrical appliances, the lamps, the computer, the televisions, the mirrors, the pictures. The dishes and furniture, they wrapped everything up. But all of our stuff, like dishes and kitchenware, books. We did all that. We had one little mishap. A piece of glass from an end table got broken and they were very willing to repair the glass. It was just that one of the men would stop by and pick it up, and they would take it to their glass place. But I got sick, and we weren't here all the time. It was a hassle. So we took the piece of glass and had it repaired ourselves. I've called a couple times to see if they would pay the bill, but I've got no response so far, which surprises me. But it's just $31. It's not a huge amount. But that would have completed everything perfectly.

When attempting to rectify this issue, whomever I spoke to basically told me "you should've known your couch wouldn't fit." A moving company, above all, should know and understand how stressful a move is. Customers have a million things going through their mind. Next time, ask the right questions, to get the answers you need... I was then told I would receive a call back to organize someone to come take the couch apart and deliver it to our new address. Never received that call. I had to go find other means of getting it done, which was not fun in an already highly stressful move.

Once everything was picked up, I didn't notice the hole in the wall until we did a walkthrough to leave the apartment. So, we will have to file a claim for that. I was displeased because before the guy even completed and had me sign off, he wanted to make sure that I remembered to tip him. I was gonna do it anyway, which we had done on previous moves. My daughter used FlatRate Moving the next day and she tipped. So, that was very insulting to assume that we would not tip. The other thing that I didn't like was the guy unpacked everything from the dressers and the chest of drawers and then packed everything up in a box. I'm not sure if they individually were paid by the number of boxes because I would have had fewer boxes. But that was before we left. The people on this end here in Texas were fantastic. It was not a problem getting a quote because if there was a problem, we wouldn't have continued.

I'm still unpacking and it's a tedious process. The other thing that they didn't do on the New York end was label the boxes appropriately. So, some of them weren't labeled and some of them were labeled "hallway." We had only 700 square feet, so the hallway wasn't large. I have eight boxes in the hallway. I found my Google clock that was in a chest of drawers that I didn't even know they had emptied. So, I'm displeased with having to spend so much time trying to find out where everything is because it was labeled incorrectly or not labeled at all.

George, the contact person on the other end, in terms of setting up the time, and the date, was not a problem nor was it a problem when I called the people to confirm when the delivery was coming. They put me in touch with the person that I was to speak with. All things considered, I haven't found anything that was broken. When you move like that from several states, you're always worried about that. But so far, I have not found any missing or I've not noticed.

FlatRate Moving was very responsive, quick to come back to me on the initial inquiry, quick to schedule it, and quick to do the insurance certificates. The guys came on time, which was great. It was just they were a little aggressive in terms of directly asking for a tip and negotiating their tip. I ended up paying a 25% tip above a customary level. Also, they lost one item from my wardrobe. So, I'm still waiting for the claims team to give me some money back. The claims department is not the most effective one. It's been two weeks. They have failed to acknowledge my submitted claim twice. I talked to the sales rep yesterday. He asked me to resend the pictures and the claims form. So, I did that last night. It's not a huge amount. It was about $30.

The guy did not wanna return because it was out of his way to bring the item. He was too far. I get it. Initially, he just stopped responding. I pressed the number of times and then eventually they got back to me and they were like, "Well, we'll do it later this week." But it was very unclear in terms of when the item would get returned and it was an essential part of a wardrobe for me to hang the clothes. So, I had to go and buy one of those hangers from scratch so I could hang all my clothes.

Getting the quote from FlatRate Moving was quick. They called me within a couple of minutes after submitting that request and we went over the big items for the house. They gave me an estimate based on how many boxes and how far the move was gonna be. The quote was fair compared to everybody else’s. The crew packed the house and did everything. There were only two people and they showed up and even got to the other spot before I did. They offloaded everything off the truck and put it into the storage unit. People should use FlatRate Moving. They were good and their customer service was responsive.

I had moved seven times in the past, and every time other companies are giving you a price, it's always double or triple at the end. FlatRate is the only company that I found that's not only working flat rate, but it also doesn't matter if they have 10 people working for you, you only pay for whatever you're supposed to pay. It doesn't go by the hour and by person. They also give you free boxes, tapes and paper to wrap dishes and stuff. They were perfect last time I used them so this time I didn't even look for anybody else. I just called them again. The guy was very nice. He told me that I am very loyal customer and that they have me on their record. I was very surprised that they do. They gave me a discount as well.

The first time, they came over, estimated the whole thing and the price didn't change. This time, they said because I was in Brooklyn, it was difficult for them to come and it wasn't that much like the other one. They estimated over the phone. I told them what I have and they gave me a price. During the moving day, three very nice people showed up on time. They did exactly what they were supposed to do and I'm very happy with them. Everything went exactly like I expected. Before my move, the guy that I spoke to over the phone went on vacation for a month so I thought that they would not comply with what he said. But everything went smoothly and they knew exactly when to come. They came on time and didn’t overcharge me.

I packed my own stuff. I organized, inventoried and put numbers on my boxes. But FlatRate Moving had their own system which came up and messed up my number system. But the crew was perfect. I thought that the same crew would be in the same truck that would bring my stuff down. I did not know that once they picked it up, they were then waiting on a third party to bring my stuff down. There was a third-party transportation company. They unloaded my truck. They had loaded my stuff last because my stuff was smaller than what would normally fit in that big 18-wheeler.

Now I'm missing two boxes that got lost in transport. Those were of my china. We went through it, the two boxes were not there. They acknowledged that both boxes were missing. They called it in and I did too. They told me he was going to Florida and maybe the boxes were in the back. One of the girls was helping me and said that she was trying to get to the warehouse. Maybe they didn't put those two boxes in the truck. She sent me a claim form. We’re hoping that they find them at some point ‘cause I would prefer to have that china that was from my aunt instead of any type of claim.

What I would have done differently was I would have packed the things myself but waited until they did the inventory, took pictures of what I put in the box, and did the inventory a little bit differently. But I did not know that they securely wrapped the boxes and put their numbers on it so my inventory sheet didn't go with what they had put on the boxes. It's creating additional work for me to go through boxes and see what their number system says it is and what my number system says it is.

I did make a call to another company but when I heard back from FlatRate and I had the quote, it just didn't make sense to keep on looking. It was just affordable and doable. They were very easy to work with.

I was moving in the same town. The crew came and they packed my stuff. They showed up early and there were twice as many people as I was told there will be. Four people were there and they worked twice as fast. It wasn't a big job. It was a small apartment. I did not have a lot of things to do. They did their job professionally. They did their job quietly and quickly too. They brought the stuff to the new location and unloaded. I have a storage unit so some of the things went down to storage and some of the things went up the stairs to my new apartment.

When we got to my new location, I listed it as a third floor walk up. Come to find out that it's actually a fourth floor because the way the building is built. It was supposed to be a change in the quote but they did not change the price. Also, they estimated that they'll use this many boxes in the original quote. They used three times the small boxes, twice as many medium boxes and maybe one or two more big box. I expected them to ask for more money for those things too. But the call never came. They were fine doing the job and leaving just the way it was.

I got the quotation. Then they talked to the manager. He said he's going to stop and come back, but he never came back. I got charged the revised price. It was around $60 more, so I didn't fight for it.

I did the move around 35 miles from my previous place to this place. So, I packed everything. The bed, the mattresses, and the TV were not packed but they boxed all my personal items like clothing. They brought the items and put them here. They estimated based on the number of boxes. Flatrate Move’s salesmen offer a very convincing pitch, but my experience with them did not live up to their promises at all. I paid $2200 to move a total of 42 items, including boxes and furniture, from NYC to Athens GA. This price supposedly included the cost for a shuttle, so that we wouldn’t have an 18-wheeler trying to drive through our small streets. However, when the movers arrived, they were in fact in the 18-wheeler so I don’t know what the point of paying for a shuttle was. Additionally, we were told that the movers would arrive between 2-5 pm.

They arrived at half past midnight. Worst of all, 4 of my items could not be located in the van, including a large armchair, an ottoman footstool, a box of valuable books and a large box containing framed art. These items total at least $1000 in losses for me. It has been a week since the move, and although the company dispatchers have made vague promises to look for my belongings, I have yet to hear the results of any other efforts being actually made to locate my missing possessions. And this, despite the sales pitch including a barcode system supposedly designed to prevent the misplacement or misdirection of items being shipped. Given the magnitude of my lost items, both in terms of physical size and value, and the cavalier attitude of management, I can only firmly recommend AGAINST using Flatrate Move.

By 1 PM they decided to informed me that not all my furniture will fit in the truck and they wanted to come back the next day to move the rest of my furniture. After several phone calls to the main office and argument they send another truck which arrived a little after 3:00PM. When they got to my new home they rushed everything into my new apartment that they neglected to take care of my belonging. They dent and ruin a leather Love seat from La-Z-Boy that cost me over $3000. In addition, they lost my music system Bose, a Blu Ray and a box with miscellaneous items that were pack by them. Either they left it behind or lost it in the process of rushing things.

After filling a claim, they send to my home a “repair guy” that doesn’t even speak or understand English to evaluate the Love seat situation. This “repair guy” conclusion was the power transformer was blow out which doesn’t even make sense considering that it was in perfect condition before they move it to my new apartment. Besides “the repair” guy didn’t even come with tools to check if that was the reason.

After several calls to the claim department emailed photos of the Bose and receipts for ruined Love seat. This is the breakdown given to me as a method of payment. Loveseat $500 -Repairs. Bose $ 300 Replace, Blu Ray $21.00 Boxes $153.00 Total $974 minus the deductible $500 check for $474.00 which I never accepted or received by Flat rate. Please don’t let them do the same to you. Do your research and hire a good respectful moving company. I will be posting more as they communicate with me and if not is because they don’t care about their customers. Good luck.

NOT a guaranteed price! Price WILL INCREASE upon arrival by MORE THAN HALF! I was quoted a cross country move for a one bedroom apartment. I told my sales rep that my things took up half of a 10x12 storage unit and furnished a 1 bedroom apartment. Based off of that, my sales rep prepared my inventory list. Upon the movers arrival, I was told it would be an additional $1,400 because not everything was listed on my inventory list. I have used movers several times before, both local and long distance. I have only ever needed to provide the information listed above. My sales rep spent 10 minutes on the phone with me and my understanding was that she had all the information she needed. Because my sales rep did not properly do her job, I am being charged more than quoted. This is NOT a guaranteed price.

Gerald and his team were careful, courteous, and above all PROFESSIONAL. I cannot stress that last part enough - professional. I also had some items stored in their storage facility. Temp controlled - locked - guarded - AM I DREAMING? There are many moving companies out there that claim to be one thing but end up being another. Not FlatRate Moving - they're the real deal.

Flatrate is wonderful for *small* moves, where you need a team of 3 people. *However*, our interstate move at the beginning of October 2020, with 9 men, was *horrific*. Half the men were lovely (great attitude, hard workers, trained and/or concerned about doing a good job). The other half behaved like thugs off the streets - terrible attitude and disregard for our possessions. *Many* items were scratched and broken, and some things are still missing, after going through all the boxes carefully, several times. I was adamant with the two foremen and the guys that any box - and most were small document sized boxes to make moving them easier for all of us - that had bright pink duck tape meant these were essentials and needed to be easily accessible because of my hand injuries; completely disregarded despite many requests to follow the color coding system.

When I complained to my sales representative about the behavior and scratched and broken items, the same person I have worked with for more than 10 years (multiple office and residential moves) said she would have someone call me. No one called. I called customer service, left a message, and am still waiting for a response. Yes, it was a big move, with multiple trucks, but this is their business. I expected SO much more from FlatRate especially for $15,000, thank you. They should be ashamed of 1) how they handled the move and 2) how they handled (did not handle) my post-move complaints. I will never use or recommend them again, for anything - terrible move experience and terrible customer care.

Horrible service with terrible response time from the so-called assigned "relocation consultant". I had the misfortune of choosing this company for an intra-country household goods storage service plus move for a 1bhk apartment. There were a bunch of issues encountered:

    1. Horrible response time - it takes a minimum of 5 business days to get a response from your relocation consultant who is supposed to be your go-to person for questions.

    2. I stated to them that my shipping date was to be 9/1/2020, for them to ship my goods out of storage in the Bay Area (Hayward) and ship it to my address in Washington. I gave them 10 days notice such that they were aware that I did not want to be charged for storage in the month of September and they committed to me that they would ship it out before the date specified. Additionally, I even had email confirmation from my consultant stating that even if they shipped it a day or two late, I would not be charged for any days in September since I had specified my first date to receive the shipment as 9/1/2020. Regardless of all this, my credit card was charged for the entire month of September. I contacted them regarding the same and the consultant denied having told me anything regarding the charges and said that she had always diverted any storage and payment info to the correct storage department. I submitted a screenshot of email proof regarding the same after which there was radio silence from her end and I had someone from Storage reach out saying that the charge has been submitted for approval to their Accounting department. It has been 3 weeks since then and I have not heard back so far/nor have I received my refund despite multiple follow up emails.

    3. Once the items reached my destination location, there were a mix of damaged (a coffee table, loveseat), and missing items (lamp, dresser drawer with an expensive jacket, IKEA nightstand, IKEA lampshade and bulb) that I had reported. My brand new (mint condition) 43" flat screen tv had not been transported and on enquiring they let me know that it had been left behind in the storage unit at Hayward. They said that they would send it by Fedex. On receiving it I found my TV damaged with the screen shattered in multiple areas. Total damages incurred of ~$1200 in addition to an exorbitant $2700 move quote (including insurance) + monthly storage charges.

I have not received an update regarding either my refund (cc charge) or my claim up until now (it has been 3 weeks so far). I am not naming anyone here because I am hopeful that they will still attend to my grievances, but in the event of no response within the next week that will definitely change. In addition to this, I will be escalating this up in the company as well as filing claims with AMSA and/or FMCSA. I am confident of having an airtight case as I have recordings of all our communications that will stand as evidence.

Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT ever make use of this moving service.

They moved our furniture from the Baltimore port to Bethesda using a little know subcontracted company called Letz Get Moving. They dumped everything in our apartment and did not assemble anything or unwrap the furniture per contract and left. There are images to prove that below. DO NOT HIRE THEM. Reviewed Aug. 17, 2020

I hired Flatrate Moving to help me and my partner move from a 1-bedroom apartment in Manhattan to upstate NY on Sunday, Aug. 2, and it was an utter disaster from start to finish. They destroyed nearly $3,500 worth of furniture and framed art through gross negligence--and only offered an insulting settlement of $368.40. They also didn't send professional movers--they sent someone in training! Plus, the movers didn't wear masks during the pandemic. After showing up late, the movers went on to do an extremely poor job throughout the move. They started by having the driver place my light-colored upholstered couch directly on the NYC sidewalk (no blankets down to protect it) to wrap it in plastic--no regard for potential stains or damage.

They used a shredded blanket (I have a photo of it) to drag an extremely heavy West Elm dresser down the stairs upside-down. When we unwrapped it at the new apartment, every corner of that item was bashed in, there were deep grooves and scratches all over the top, there was paint stripped off from the tape used by the movers, and the movers snapped the hinge off the cabinet door on the side. It was irreparable, and while I've spent more than a week asking the movers to come back and dispose of it (I can't move it myself), Flatrate Moving has yet to take care of this.

They damaged lightweight furniture from Ikea, including a desk, bookshelf, and drawers--items that I could have taken down the stairs and moved myself without damaging. It almost feels like they TRIED to damage these items. The movers also damaged almost every piece of framed art we paid extra to have them pack with care. Furthermore, they tried to balance a 3-month-old Herman Miller office chair on its back (where delicate components for lumbar support have been installed) on top of many boxes in the moving truck. When I asked that they move it to a more appropriate place, they left a giant black thumb-stain which can't be removed. This chair was in perfect condition before they handled it, and now it's stained and the levers don't work properly.

The amount of damage is absolutely unbelievable for this move. I asked the lead mover (Kyle) for an explanation, and he said that the damage occurred because Flatrate Moving didn't send a professional, they sent a "trainee," who handled my items improperly. I have Kyle's response on video, which I will share on YouTube to warn others about this experience. Kyle summed it up perfectly when he said, "You have a whole lot of damaged items."

Worse yet--these movers almost never wore a mask, even when inside my residences and speaking close to me. We're moving in a pandemic! Wearing a mask is the least they could do, and the lack of this basic precaution shows that Flatrate Moving doesn't give a damn about the health of its customers. My partner and I wore masks throughout the entire move to protect the movers. It is deeply upsetting that they didn't show us the same respect.

We've been working with a variety of people at Flatrate (including sales coordinator Jeff **, claims associate Cici **, and client relations manager Brian **), and they've been largely unresponsive and unhelpful, despite my partner and I trying to be cooperative and figure out a suitable resolution. I intend to file complaints with the Department of Transportation, the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Health, NYC Dept of Consumer Affairs, the Attorney General, and all other regulatory and consumer watchdog organizations to get the word out about this incompetent company. I'm also going to speak with a lawyer about this situation. Do yourself a favor--HIRE ANYONE ELSE BUT FLATRATE MOVING. The company promises a "stress-free move," but dealing with them has been the most stressful part of my move.

If I could give ZERO STARS I WOULD. I've been using FlatRate since 2010 and just came to find out I was a loyalty member. That garnered me their top notch mover who I'd used before. And $100 discount at most. Given we're in a pandemic, FlatRate gave me a quote and charged me for additional cleaning services in the building I moved to me for extra precautions due to Covid 19 requirements. Day of move, I get 3 guys that have collectively been moving and with FlatRate for 2 weeks max. It was a rush job. They brought things down to the truck in increments, wouldn't come back upstairs for some time and when I went to check, one of them was sitting in the truck smoking even after they told me HQ was rushing them.

They left the truck open on the streets of NYC unattended. Packed my work desk with the contents in it and when they flipped the desk, everything came crashing out. They used one box per item in certain cases. Overall was an absolutely AWFUL experience. They breached their contract and I was charged a penalty from my new building. Apart from Covid 19, the service was still awful. I could not get the salesperson to respond to me prior to my move. Day of the move they did a bait and switch. I will NEVER use them again.

After this note to them & my calls, Brian is nowhere to be found! Your debit to my account in the amount of $352.16 must be reversed immediately. Please call me and let me know exactly when I will see this adjusted. If this is something that is above your job description, please have someone more senior contact me. In no particular order: Your Relocation Consultant, Sandeep ** visited my home and walked every inch of it from the attic to the basement making exacting notes of what specifically was to be moved and what was to be left behind. He then furnished us with a moving plan in exacting detail. We accepted the offer of $2750.00 for a complete move. We later adjusted the insurance coverage for the move to increase the job by $100.00 to an adjusted total of $2850.00. This was paid in full in advance of the move.

The day of the move everything seemed to go smoothly for the most part & when completed I tipped out your crew in cash. Three days later my bank received a debit from your company for $352.16. No notice of this or any adjustment was presented, you just went in & grabbed my funds. When asked for an explanation, I was told it was for steps during the move that had not been noticed at the time of the estimate. This is completely absurd. It was a complete price for a complete job, nothing extraordinary about the move in or out. Even parking was directly in front of my house & convenient access was provided at the service entrance of the building upon arrival. Further, several items listed in the inventory were not moved at all, (per my request). Finally & I quote from your contract: "We will always quote you the additional cost before proceeding". DO NOT USE. They will take your money, damage your furniture and then refuse to honor their insurance policy you paid extra for! We've used FlatRate for all of our previous NYC moves, with no major problems. On our most recent move in July, however, FlatRate's movers knocked a chunk out of our large, bespoke Brooklyn-made wooden dining table. We had purchased $10,000 worth of insurance, and FlatRate's movers also assured us that company would quickly take care of the damage, so while very annoyed, we thought it would be quickly taken care of.

We got a quote from our furniture maker for the damage, which would cost $1200 to repair (table pickup/drop off, sanding down the ruined edge, and refinishing the entire table to mask the sanding and make it match). Instead of honoring the quote from our table maker, however, FlatRate randomly decided the damage was only worth $360 and said their no-name, generic furniture repair partner company would handle the repair of our specialty-made table for that amount. Are you kidding me???

On the phone, someone from this random furniture repair company even TOLD us that the furniture maker should be the one to fix the table, not them! FlatRate sold us fraudulent insurance, ruined our table and then did not honor their promise to clean up the mess they made. We now have to cover 3/4 of the cost of this repair ourselves - on top of the exorbitant $2500 FlatRate charged for our move. Suffice to say, we will NEVER, EVER use this fraudulent, money-grubbing company again. Bottom line: DO NOT USE FLATRATE: THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR FURNITURE AND CHEAT YOU!!!!

In August at the scheduled date, movers arrived at my mother's new apartment. After 30 minutes or so movers told us that that was it!!! That's when we realized that they only brought back half of her furniture and none of her boxes. The movers told us that this was what the warehouse gave them. So after numerous phone calls, hours, days on the phone with Flatrate. They finally acknowledged that furniture and goods were LOST. We could not believe it. They sent me a claim form to complete. So we completed the form including pictures (because in addition the lost furniture/goods, the furniture that made it to the apartment were damaged) and receipts.

After weeks of calling (and no answer from claim department), I finally received a resolution. They offered $750!!! for sofa, ottoman, bed frame, lamp, chairs and all my mother's goods from kitchen to bathroom to clothes, bedding etc.... this is just unbelievable. I appealed the case with flatrate department and I am waiting for their response. But at this time, I will like to make sure I am sharing this with everyone who is looking at flatrate for their move or storage. Please DO NOT USE FLATRATE.
