Scheduling the move was okay. The communication was fine. It was an okay experience overall.

When I contacted FlatRate to store all my things in New York, everything went really well. They were on time and they pretty much took care of all the furniture and boxes that I had at the time. The process overall for signing the contract was pretty smooth, as well. I got my things in the storage for more than a year and then I decided when I would permanently transfer. I moved my things from New York to Texas and that part of the move is where I had the issues with.
The process of contacting was pretty smooth, the timings were pretty good, and they were really respectful and delivered everything else with care. But they lost a couple of my furniture and they were two big pieces of furniture. What they told me was that apparently, those two big pieces were put in a different storage. But they didn't tell me that. In my mind, I paid for a unit where all my things were there so, I don't understand how they missed two big pieces.
That was in December and since then, I've been trying to reach someone in customer service and nothing. I've sent hundreds of emails and phone calls. I talked to people for the moving department and they gave me the email of this person, Brian, in customer service. I sent him an email and called him directly but nothing so far. Moving things from one place to another was quite good but the storage and then delivery is where they lack in communication and the clarity to the clients is not quite there yet.

Scheduling the move was decent. They were quick in their response and most of it happened in email. The move was in the same locality and everything was done within an hour. Two people came from the team and they were good. It went smoothly.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had moving. After being told to pay additional money to “protect” my valuable items they were moving, they then broke multiple expensive items. After they asked for receipts for the items to reimburse for them, they decided to then claimed the items were worth >50% less than the receipts showed. They have since ignored my emails and phone calls for weeks trying to get a resolution. Do NOT recommend.

Have many pieces of feedback for the move itself which I am happy to go through with someone for feedback and improvement, especially to do with communication but also to do with sales. Received a voicemail that I would get compensation but never received it. Tried to call and never heard back.

I've used FlatRate four times, and I've been happy every time. The most recent was December of last year moving from Manhattan to Pennsylvania. I've even moved from Florida to New Hampshire with them and I've done local moves. I had just recommended them again to my daughter.

FlatRate was professional. After I got in touch with them, we scheduled a visit where one of their people came out and inspected to get a list of the amount of stuff that we needed to move. That guy also gave us a quote and scheduled when the move would happen. Then they went to New Jersey and picked up my stuff in a big truck. The next day, they came up to New York and picked up the rest of the stuff. That same day, they drove it all the way up to New Haven and dropped them off. The movers moved quickly and they worked hard. They were nice and they packed everything pretty well.

FlatRate Moving did the move quickly. They packed what I didn't have packed. They had to store it overnight because we got to my loading dock late. We couldn't move it in after a certain time and we had to get special permission to move it in the next day. But because the move was done quickly and they took everything apart, a few of my things were damaged in the process. I have a cabinet electrical fireplace that doubles as a TV stand. They turned that on its side and now it's all crooked. It doesn't even sit level anymore and it's scratched in the front. My dresser is a cheap one but now, it's even sagging more in the middle because the leg in the middle wasn't put on properly.
My headboard got scratched. That shouldn't even have been turned at all. It shouldn't have to come apart because they had the whole truck and it was just me. They didn't have to pack the truck the way that they packed it. They could have packed it loosely but I understand from their experiences that the tighter the pack, the less movement. The representative who sold me the job was calling me every single day, returning my voice calls. When I called him back and told him that something was damaged, I haven't heard from him since so I was more disappointed with that. I know I'm not gonna get reimbursed for any of this damage.

We were disappointed and frustrated with our experience and the last-minute cancellation of our scheduled moving appointment. Moving is an already stressful process, and relying on professionals was supposed to alleviate some of that burden. However, the sudden cancellation of our appointment disrupted our moving plans significantly, leaving us to scramble with coordinating the reservation of the freight elevator, and having to execute the move during working hours which affects our time off allotment. Furthermore, the lack of adequate communication, and little regard for our time on the day of the originally scheduled move was unacceptable. We did not hear about the potential delay until we called FlatRate due to their already being late. We appreciate FlatRate working with us to reschedule the move to the following day, but their absolute lack of accountability is unsatisfactory for a professional business.

I was looking for the best prices when I was moving to a different state and FlatRate beat every other company that I was inquiring with. Setting up the move was easy. I decided to pack myself and they picked it up on the day that was set for pick-up. When it arrived here in Florida where I moved to, everything went well. A gentleman and a young lady helped bring everything out and moved everything into my apartment. They gave me a list of everything to make sure everything was there and everything was fine. They did everything the way it needed to be and I had a great experience.

Two guys came out, which was not enough, and they rushed the job. When they were done, we realized some stuff was missing, but it wasn't a big deal because it was too late. But it wasn't professional. They didn't do a good job. They didn't come with their equipment. They were missing drills. They had to borrow the drill from my super. So it wasn't the best move. But the quotes were accurate.

I switched companies to FlatRate, which was more expensive. I had four guys. Three of them did great packing but one of them was not good. There was one responsive person. But the packing wasn't as good and these people stole from me as well. They took a brand new white scooter. They also broke my table. But going back to them and trying to get my scooter and my table fixed seemed like more effort than it was worth so I never even reported it.

I've used FlatRate Moving for several moves. And what made me use them was their policy of flat rate pricing versus hourly pricing for some other moving companies that I never felt confident in what my final price would be. My expectation was FlatRate would do what was listed on their website or on my initial call in terms of inventorying and what they would provide versus what I needed to provide. And I was never disappointed. My most recent move was a few months ago. The ones from a few years ago were always pleasant or else I would not have continued with the company. I found out in my most recent move that I had a repeat customer reward on my account of $100. And there was a four-year gap between the two moves. So, I was very impressed that I didn't know I had that reward, and that they told me about it and applied it to this most current move. I've recommended them to lots of friends and family over the course of time.

I called them and scheduled a phone appointment, and then they called me back and we did a FaceTime walkthrough of our apartment and they looked into all the items that we had to move. From that, they were able to give me a quote. The moving crew was great. They were very professional, and nice. They were very responsible with all of our items. They did a really good job packing. They packed some delicate items and furniture in our home and they did a really good job making sure everything was great. When everything arrived in our new city, nothing was broken. Everything was accounted for. FlatRate did a really good job adjusting the quote based on what we ended up moving with.

I had a good experience with FlatRate Moving. They were more professional. I could tell with how they did their contracts, how they communicated with me. They laid everything out very easy for me to understand what they would and wouldn't do. I had had my stuff in storage for about a year with FlatRate in New York City, in the Bronx. And I knew that I needed my stuff to get to Kentucky from New York. FlatRate was not my cheapest quote, which is why I ended up getting scammed, because I went with a cheaper quote from another company to pick my stuff up from the storage unit and drive it long distance to Kentucky. But FlatRate was easy to set up the move-out with. Unfortunately, the company that I hired never showed up to move my stuff.
I reached out to FlatRate and asked them for a quote for the stuff that was in my storage unit and how much it would cost to get to Kentucky. They were transparent with pricing and their agreements. They knew exactly what stuff I had in storage already, gave me a timeline for my move when I could expect it. They were easy to communicate with.
It was a week of a window to get to Kentucky and they stayed in contact with me. Two days before the move, they said, “We're gonna be there on Friday.” Once it got closer to Friday, they gave me a time window which was 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Friday, the day of the delivery, they called me and said, “It's gonna be actually closer to this time.” They narrowed it down within a 30-minute window. And the driver called me 15 minutes before his arrival. So, it was easy to communicate with them. I didn't have to reach out to them to figure out where they were at or when they were coming. They always communicated that with me.
The person that showed up to help me was professional. He was helpful, got all my stuff out of the truck and got it where they needed to be. They were dusty, but that was just because they were in storage for a year. If they were in boxes or tubs, or however I left them, they were in that condition. There was one item that was damaged, but it was insignificant, so it wasn't an issue. It was a bed frame and one little section had a chip out of it. But I could glue that back together.

I used FlatRate for three of my own personal moves in the city and they were always on time, reliable and trustworthy. There were no extra charges and everything was seamless. So when my daughter moved, I recommended them. It was a small move and we just sent them an itemized list of each item and how many boxes we had. Then, they sent us an email. The crew was efficient and got the move done in a timely fashion. They were very friendly and professional. Plus, the quote was great and accurate.

I already had my things prepacked so the crew just had to load up my boxes in the moving truck. Then, they wrapped up some pieces of furniture that I had. I expected that. It was all in my contract and that's what I got. They were very friendly and careful about my things. It was great. My mom obtained the quote from FlatRate and it was easy because right after she spoke with them, they drafted up a contract for her. They included the amount of boxes I was gonna have, the amount of lamps, and everything they knew what they were gonna go into. The quote came back to us very quickly, which was good. They accidentally charged me a little bit more than what my contract was. It was a glitch on their end and that worried me a little bit but as soon as I called, they were super apologetic and everything was fixed immediately.
Before my move, I was making sure of the times so I would call in sometimes and they always answered my questions. They also even called me before my move just to make sure that I didn't have anything that I needed to add to my contract in terms of more boxes. They were very forthcoming with communication, which I appreciated.

It was not my first time using FlatRate Moving, that's why I used them for a second time. Everything was fine. It went smooth. Very professional. Nice people. I two separate moves, very close in time. One was November, and this one was end of January. The first move was within an apartment complex, and the second one was from Brooklyn to Manhattan. FlatRate did all the packing and the move. They did the packing on the first day, and they moved everything and delivered the second day. They were helpful, but they had to wait for the freight elevator or if we said, “Don't move this. Move that one." It was very easy to communicate. They had a maximum number of boxes that they were ready to unpack because of contract, and they did that. Also, they also took apart some furniture and office displays, and put them back. They had a carpenter who showed up at the right time. He did his job and went to do something else. It was a complete service.

I would not recommend FlatRate Moving to a friend. I’m dissatisfied with this. And I would not use them anymore. I used them for my relocation to New York, to Miami. Everything went well when we did it in New York. But it's still going back and forth to the point that I'm considering to have a lawyer involved because it has been bad. It's negative in their approach on answering. It's all documented on email. I'm very dissatisfied with the customer care.
I received a payment, which is not satisfactory, for the insurance that I bought on the move and all the damage that they did. Compared to the damage they did, it's very small. But it's more than the payment. It's about the customer care, the attention to details, and the support. Some of the most difficult moments in life are when people move from one home to another. We move personal belongings and try to have a partner that is caring and is with us. I did not have this from FlatRate.
There were a lot of damages into the products that arrived. We expected a bit of damages here and there. But I have a design chair that arrived destroyed and with the glue next to it. So, it got into the warehouse. They tried to glue back. And they pretended that it arrived here destroyed. That was intentional damaging and not being transparent. It was a design chair, something that I personally care about because it was a gift.
I tried to explain to the team. It's personal emails on different people connected. But they never got back, unless they got back as to amount. I'm trying to decide what to do. There was one person, which was the sales agent, that helped me from FlatRate. Even he couldn't understand why the customer care team was not paying attention to this despite several emails. Also, FlatRate sent a smaller crew which did not finish the job on time, and caused me a lot of stress with the building. That's on the top of the damages. I said, “You send a smaller team to handle all of this. He couldn't finish the job.” They did not send the right crew to handle this job.
The move was November 29th. It's February 15th. It's still not finalized. And we're talking about a few thousand dollars. Having a few thousand dollars would never change the bad taste and the bad customer service that I received. I didn't do this for money. It was a question of principle of I paid on time, I bought an insurance, and I did everything I had to do. So, when something like this happened, which is out of the ordinary, I expect minimum attention, which did not happen.

FlatRate Moving was fantastic. The crew that we had was unbelievable. All three of them were very professional. They had to take me from Connecticut up to Massachusetts. It was an over three and a half hour drive. I was so worried. They gave me a fixed price and held on to it. I just had a lot of boxes and a lot of personal things. But they did everything that I asked and more. And the most important thing is, I knew what my price would be at the end. The rep went through a serious thing when his sister had died, and he still was professional.
My experience was this because I dealt with such a great guy at the company. And I'm lucky that I was able to get a senior guy like him. He was very detailed but so am I. I gave him a lot of detail and kept him up-to-date as we were packing. We packed 99% of the things ourselves. We just hired them to move it. We didn't have them unpacking or packing, but they do that. And he did the unpacking for my friend. %hey stored for my friend for a year and he was very satisfied with them.
Ricardo was excellent. And he had a lot of experience. He was very personable that he was almost too personal. He's a nice guy. Also, the movers have worked together for a number of years. It was obvious. They all knew what they had to do. All three were fantastic. They knew what they had to do. And this was a long trip for them. They got to my house at 8:45 in the morning. And they were at my house for two three hours. We had to first drive over three hours to Massachusetts. And they had to unpack. I have a storage facility on site at my new place and my home. They did all of this. They didn't leave Massachusetts until it was 4:30. And they were first going to drive that. That's a long day.
I gave them a nice cash tip. I hope that they appreciated it. I felt good with what I gave them. Nobody asked me to give them that, but I did it and they were worth it. I would use them again if I had to move again. I also called up the president of their company and I made it known because they were very hard workers and I appreciate that.

Their price was a little bit high for the amount of items that I have, but I still went forward.
Moving day was good. I did not expect for the truck that they had to have other items in it, and I was a little afraid that all of my items would not fit. But fortunately, they knew what they were doing and they maneuvered things around where all of my items fit. It was smooth. When we got to the destination, all the items got upstairs and nothing was damaged. We had a little difficulty trying to get one of the pieces of my sofas in through my door, but that was no fault to them. It's a narrow doorway and we managed to get it in. They were very helpful.

Whereas with FlatRate, it was on the higher side of the average, but at least I knew that was what I was gonna pay. The first person that I spoke to was also friendly. They packed some items and the process of getting the quote was really easy. We did a call that was about 45 minutes, and we had all the numbers by the next day. FlatRate Moving is an excellent company. The drivers and the guys who moved the furniture went way above and beyond. I had a little bit more than they expected, but they said, "No worries. I was moving from New York to Boston, and I packed 80% to 85% of my items. One of the gentlemen that went to my apartment to see how much stuff I had said he was gonna send me 20 boxes. I told them I had a newborn baby and I could not do everything in one day, so they were gonna pack on Friday, June 23rd, and they wanna move me on Saturday, June 24th. However, they called me Thursday afternoon, telling me that something happened and they won't be able to pack on Friday. They were gonna have to do everything on Saturday.
We left the same day we packed. We left Saturday, 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I left first because that was a five-hour drive, then they left right behind me. I texted the driver, and he told me that they were late. It was 10 o'clock at night when he told me that they were almost here. By the time they got here, they took everything off the truck and put it inside my house. They ended up leaving around 2 o'clock in the morning and we ended up unpacking everything around 3 o'clock in the morning as well.
If FlatRate Moving would have kept their word and packed on Friday and moved me on Saturday, that would have been perfect. At the time, my newborn was only 10 months old.
