FlatRate Moving was very responsive, quick to come back to me on the initial inquiry, quick to schedule it, and quick to do the insurance certificates. The guys came on time, which was great. It was just they were a little aggressive in terms of directly asking for a tip and negotiating their tip. I ended up paying a 25% tip above a customary level. Also, they lost one item from my wardrobe. So, I'm still waiting for the claims team to give me some money back. The claims department is not the most effective one. It's been two weeks. They have failed to acknowledge my submitted claim twice. I talked to the sales rep yesterday. He asked me to resend the pictures and the claims form. So, I did that last night. It's not a huge amount. It was about $30.
The guy did not wanna return because it was out of his way to bring the item. He was too far. I get it. Initially, he just stopped responding. I pressed the number of times and then eventually they got back to me and they were like, "Well, we'll do it later this week." But it was very unclear in terms of when the item would get returned and it was an essential part of a wardrobe for me to hang the clothes. So, I had to go and buy one of those hangers from scratch so I could hang all my clothes.

I had moved seven times in the past, and every time other companies are giving you a price, it's always double or triple at the end. FlatRate is the only company that I found that's not only working flat rate, but it also doesn't matter if they have 10 people working for you, you only pay for whatever you're supposed to pay. It doesn't go by the hour and by person. They also give you free boxes, tapes and paper to wrap dishes and stuff. They were perfect last time I used them so this time I didn't even look for anybody else. I just called them again. The guy was very nice. He told me that I am very loyal customer and that they have me on their record. I was very surprised that they do. They gave me a discount as well.
The first time, they came over, estimated the whole thing and the price didn't change. This time, they said because I was in Brooklyn, it was difficult for them to come and it wasn't that much like the other one. They estimated over the phone. I told them what I have and they gave me a price. During the moving day, three very nice people showed up on time. They did exactly what they were supposed to do and I'm very happy with them. Everything went exactly like I expected. Before my move, the guy that I spoke to over the phone went on vacation for a month so I thought that they would not comply with what he said. But everything went smoothly and they knew exactly when to come. They came on time and didn’t overcharge me.

I packed my own stuff. I organized, inventoried and put numbers on my boxes. But FlatRate Moving had their own system which came up and messed up my number system. But the crew was perfect. I thought that the same crew would be in the same truck that would bring my stuff down. I did not know that once they picked it up, they were then waiting on a third party to bring my stuff down. There was a third-party transportation company. They unloaded my truck. They had loaded my stuff last because my stuff was smaller than what would normally fit in that big 18-wheeler.
Now I'm missing two boxes that got lost in transport. Those were of my china. We went through it, the two boxes were not there. They acknowledged that both boxes were missing. They called it in and I did too. They told me he was going to Florida and maybe the boxes were in the back. One of the girls was helping me and said that she was trying to get to the warehouse. Maybe they didn't put those two boxes in the truck. She sent me a claim form. We’re hoping that they find them at some point ‘cause I would prefer to have that china that was from my aunt instead of any type of claim.
What I would have done differently was I would have packed the things myself but waited until they did the inventory, took pictures of what I put in the box, and did the inventory a little bit differently. But I did not know that they securely wrapped the boxes and put their numbers on it so my inventory sheet didn't go with what they had put on the boxes. It's creating additional work for me to go through boxes and see what their number system says it is and what my number system says it is.

FlatRate Moving was suggested to me by someone who used them twice before and was extremely happy with them. He said, "This is the one call you need to make." I did make a call to another company but when I heard back from FlatRate and I had the quote, it just didn't make sense to keep on looking. It was just affordable and doable. They were very easy to work with.
I was moving in the same town. The crew came and they packed my stuff. They showed up early and there were twice as many people as I was told there will be. Four people were there and they worked twice as fast. It wasn't a big job. It was a small apartment. I did not have a lot of things to do. They did their job professionally. They did their job quietly and quickly too. They brought the stuff to the new location and unloaded. I have a storage unit so some of the things went down to storage and some of the things went up the stairs to my new apartment.
When we got to my new location, I listed it as a third floor walk up. Come to find out that it's actually a fourth floor because the way the building is built. It was supposed to be a change in the quote but they did not change the price. Also, they estimated that they'll use this many boxes in the original quote. They used three times the small boxes, twice as many medium boxes and maybe one or two more big box. I expected them to ask for more money for those things too. But the call never came. They were fine doing the job and leaving just the way it was.

FlatRate Moving gave a good price. I gave them the list of items. I compared them with another company, and they quoted me the lowest. But after moving, they billed me a little more that is close to what the other guy charges. The moving crew showed me that the price is a little bit higher, and I told them the price. I got the quotation. Then they talked to the manager. He said he's going to stop and come back, but he never came back. I got charged the revised price. It was around $60 more, so I didn't fight for it.
I did the move around 35 miles from my previous place to this place. So, I packed everything. The bed, the mattresses, and the TV were not packed but they boxed all my personal items like clothing. They brought the items and put them here. They estimated based on the number of boxes. Based on the inventory, they quoted me the price. The guys who came for the move are very nice people. They did a great job. The only thing is they gave me a quote, and after that, they charged me a different price. I wrote to them and they didn’t reply. Other than that, they are good. I will recommend FlatRate but will tell them to ask them to confirm the price a few times.

Getting the quote from FlatRate Moving was quick. They called me within a couple of minutes after submitting that request and we went over the big items for the house. They gave me an estimate based on how many boxes and how far the move was gonna be. The quote was fair compared to everybody else’s. The crew packed the house and did everything. There were only two people and they showed up and even got to the other spot before I did. They offloaded everything off the truck and put it into the storage unit. People should use FlatRate Moving. They were good and their customer service was responsive.

The rep with FlatRate Moving, Louis, did a virtual tour with me. The guys were amazing. They wrapped every single thing up. It was very fast. It was also very comforting that they weren't gonna break anything, forget something, or rush me. We went to the new place and they made sure everything was in there. The price was amazing and it matched the service.

I used FlatRate for an apartment move. I explained to them over the phone what I had. The crew showed up early and they explained what they were there to do. They packed my stuff extremely safely and got it done within the quoted amount of time. That took two hours. There was high productivity. They put the stuff on the truck and took it to my new place. Use FlatRate.

I used FlatRate Moving for a 70-mile move. I was very happy with the price and the crew was great. They would ask questions about different items and where they needed to go in the house when they were packing so they could mark them. When they were unpacking the truck, they would do the same to make sure that the items were going to the correct place so I wouldn't have to move around a lot of boxes later. The packing took four hours and the unloading took about the same. They were all friendly and on time. They worked hard.

They were very efficient and pleasant. Getting a quote was very easy and they were very accommodating. The movers were ready to work. They put everything where they were told to put them, unwrapped everything and took away every bit of garbage. It was a very easy move.
