I hired Flat Rate to move, store and move again all my apartment furniture until my new home was completed. I paid for ‘Premium Storage’ at its Newark location. After 18 months, at a cost of over 10,000 dollars in storage fees alone, my furniture was delivered out of the Bronx to my new home. Every piece of furniture was damaged. Light fixtures broken and rugs ripped and molded. The movers told me that was the condition the furniture was in when it was pick up. Approximate cost of damage exceeded 40,000 dollars. Flat Rate send me a check for 700 dollars in compensation. I have since retained an attorney.

Do not use this company!! FlatRate broke thousands of dollars worth of property and took zero accountability. Seems to me they are more of a brokerage than a moving company, hiring local day workers with little to no professionalism to move your stuff. They repeatedly tried to increase the price of the move. They are shockingly incompetent and unethical. Once they have your money, you will be lucky to get any meaningful response from them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Flatrate Move’s salesmen offer a very convincing pitch, but my experience with them did not live up to their promises at all. I paid $2200 to move a total of 42 items, including boxes and furniture, from NYC to Athens GA. This price supposedly included the cost for a shuttle, so that we wouldn’t have an 18-wheeler trying to drive through our small streets. However, when the movers arrived, they were in fact in the 18-wheeler so I don’t know what the point of paying for a shuttle was. Additionally, we were told that the movers would arrive between 2-5 pm.

They arrived at half past midnight. Worst of all, 4 of my items could not be located in the van, including a large armchair, an ottoman footstool, a box of valuable books and a large box containing framed art. These items total at least $1000 in losses for me. It has been a week since the move, and although the company dispatchers have made vague promises to look for my belongings, I have yet to hear the results of any other efforts being actually made to locate my missing possessions. And this, despite the sales pitch including a barcode system supposedly designed to prevent the misplacement or misdirection of items being shipped. Given the magnitude of my lost items, both in terms of physical size and value, and the cavalier attitude of management, I can only firmly recommend AGAINST using Flatrate Move.

We had a terrible experience with this company. They came late (changed their arrival schedule several times), packed them unprofessionally, broke many items, and all our clothes were thrown in and wrinkled. They couldn't move a piano we were going to give to our friend so we had to hire another company just for the job - yet they took/kept a piano stool by mistake. Our friend has had no chair for a couple of weeks. All the way through our troubles customer Care service was almost non-exist. The Claims department lost all our initial claim forms and photo evidence because of a "system breakdown" and settled our case only after we nagged them. The settlement took 6 months. We'll never use them again for sure.

I had the worst experience with Flat Rate. To begin they arrived at 9AM to my location with a truck too small to fit all my belonging and a short staff. By 1 PM they decided to informed me that not all my furniture will fit in the truck and they wanted to come back the next day to move the rest of my furniture. After several phone calls to the main office and argument they send another truck which arrived a little after 3:00PM. When they got to my new home they rushed everything into my new apartment that they neglected to take care of my belonging. They dent and ruin a leather Love seat from La-Z-Boy that cost me over $3000. In addition, they lost my music system Bose, a Blu Ray and a box with miscellaneous items that were pack by them. Either they left it behind or lost it in the process of rushing things.

After filling a claim, they send to my home a “repair guy” that doesn’t even speak or understand English to evaluate the Love seat situation. This “repair guy” conclusion was the power transformer was blow out which doesn’t even make sense considering that it was in perfect condition before they move it to my new apartment. Besides “the repair” guy didn’t even come with tools to check if that was the reason.

After several calls to the claim department emailed photos of the Bose and receipts for ruined Love seat. This is the breakdown given to me as a method of payment. Loveseat $500 -Repairs. Bose $ 300 Replace, Blu Ray $21.00 Boxes $153.00 Total $974 minus the deductible $500 check for $474.00 which I never accepted or received by Flat rate. Please don’t let them do the same to you. Do your research and hire a good respectful moving company. I will be posting more as they communicate with me and if not is because they don’t care about their customers. Good luck.

Harris and his team were excellent. They arrived early, went over all of my possessions, and got to work right away. They were efficient, kind, and professional throughout the move and I could not have asked for a better moving experience.

NOT a guaranteed price! Price WILL INCREASE upon arrival by MORE THAN HALF! I was quoted a cross country move for a one bedroom apartment. I told my sales rep that my things took up half of a 10x12 storage unit and furnished a 1 bedroom apartment. Based off of that, my sales rep prepared my inventory list. Upon the movers arrival, I was told it would be an additional $1,400 because not everything was listed on my inventory list. I have used movers several times before, both local and long distance. I have only ever needed to provide the information listed above. My sales rep spent 10 minutes on the phone with me and my understanding was that she had all the information she needed. Because my sales rep did not properly do her job, I am being charged more than quoted. This is NOT a guaranteed price.

I used FlatRate Moving to move from NYC to NJ. PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT. All my items were wrapped like presents - protected from the elements/dings. Everything arrived perfectly. The team put my furniture in all the right places. Unpacked everything. I could not be more happy. I will recommend them to everyone I know. FLATRATE for the WIN. Terrance and his team are the best group of guys - ask for them.

I have moved so many many times throughout NYC - this is the first time I've used FlatRate Moving and WOW - they're heads and shoulders above the many other moving companies that I've used. Gerald and his team were careful, courteous, and above all PROFESSIONAL. I cannot stress that last part enough - professional. I also had some items stored in their storage facility. Temp controlled - locked - guarded - AM I DREAMING? There are many moving companies out there that claim to be one thing but end up being another. Not FlatRate Moving - they're the real deal.

Flatrate is wonderful for *small* moves, where you need a team of 3 people. *However*, our interstate move at the beginning of October 2020, with 9 men, was *horrific*. Half the men were lovely (great attitude, hard workers, trained and/or concerned about doing a good job). The other half behaved like thugs off the streets - terrible attitude and disregard for our possessions. *Many* items were scratched and broken, and some things are still missing, after going through all the boxes carefully, several times. I was adamant with the two foremen and the guys that any box - and most were small document sized boxes to make moving them easier for all of us - that had bright pink duck tape meant these were essentials and needed to be easily accessible because of my hand injuries; completely disregarded despite many requests to follow the color coding system.

When I complained to my sales representative about the behavior and scratched and broken items, the same person I have worked with for more than 10 years (multiple office and residential moves) said she would have someone call me. No one called. I called customer service, left a message, and am still waiting for a response. Yes, it was a big move, with multiple trucks, but this is their business. I expected SO much more from FlatRate especially for $15,000, thank you. They should be ashamed of 1) how they handled the move and 2) how they handled (did not handle) my post-move complaints. I will never use or recommend them again, for anything - terrible move experience and terrible customer care.
