1st bid $82,000 for the metal roof. A few seconds later... $46,000 for asphalt shingle (which I could finance through them at $1,400 a month)... then $39,000 (at $1,100 a month)... and by the time he left and "talked to his manager," who he said "must have been drinking because he never does something like this because there is nothing in it for them... $36,000 (at $400 a month for 15 years), but if I didn't sign right now that was off the table and he wouldn't be coming back.

After his repeated defensiveness and whining about how much they spend on marketing and travel just to get out to see us, I told him, "I don't care about your 'Cost of Doing Business'", and I showed him (them) the door. Then I called a local, reputable roofing company (which is what I suggest everyone do). I received a bid of $21,000 from a person who I'm sure does everything possible to maintain his reputation in a small community and is probably an elder at his local church. Still entertaining bids, but I will most likely go with the local guy.

The “highly trained and professional crew” started the day by starting to put ice and water shield over my existing shingles. I attempted to stop them but none of them spoke English. I would almost think that they wanted to get away with it because it is easier and cheaper. The lead gave me his phone number in case anything else came up. Then he went and updated his phone and number so it didn't work. WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH would he give me a number that he knew he was going to shut off??!! They got nails all over my neighbor's driveway. He had to yell at the “professional” crew to get them to clean them off before he wound up with a flat tire.

During the day my wife noticed that there were two children sitting in the work truck all day long in the sun. At the end of the day they wanted me to sign a completion document. I looked at the roof and the drip edge corners were a disaster and wide open. The edge of the roofline by the gutters moves up and down like waves on the ocean and the gutter guards were not installed.

The installation manager (Turner) came in the next couple of days and said he would fix the drip edge and install the gutter guards. The wavy roofline was more than likely unfixable and he blamed it on my house. My guess is that it is unfixable because it would require too much work. There are no pictures of our bare roof showing the condition of the roof boards. That would be forgivable if I had any confidence that the crew that installed the roof noticed any problems and fixed them.

At this point I felt like I had to pay for this disaster because it's the only way to make these people go away. I can only hope I do not have to rely on a questionable warranty and the possibility of more unqualified people fixing a problem with my roof. I paid for a premier service that I did not get. I will have to conclude that Erie Home is not worth the money

I just wanted just an estimate for a garage roof replacement with new gutters with a screen. It's a detached garage from my home. I thought it would be a simple estimate that would take maybe 15 minutes. Their salesperson kept "upselling" for hours. In the end, their quote that they wanted was $16,476 for my little garage roof. I don't believe that I need to say anymore about my experience with this company.

Erie included gutter guards as part of the roofing installation. They removed the original gutter guards and messed up the gutter guards. Now they won't fix what they messed up. I had to go back and contact the original gutter installers to fix what they messed up. I have to pay for their bad fix and Erie Home will not help.

I reached out for a quote, scheduled for a Thursday and Wednesday they canceled with option to reschedule. They called me Monday shortly after 1pm and rescheduled for Tuesday at 6PM. It's now Tuesday at 7:25pm and NOTHING! No show, no call, no text, nothing. It's upsetting that a company can be so cavalier about business. 3/19/24.

Beware of this outfit! I contracted for fiberglass shingles @ $40,000. They showed up, stripped parts of my roof, valleys & edges, then "reroofed" roofed over my old shingles with Asphalt shingles. The installation does not meet manufacturer's requirements, thus there is no warranty. To top it all off they put IKO shingles, the worst shingle on the market in 2022, the year the job was done! The financing was processed electronically; I never saw a check, but now I am responsible for the loan! If you find yourself in this situation, file a police report and contact the FBI Scam Dept.

Having owned multiple rental properties as well as many of my own homes and running a business for many years where I dealt with lots of different types of insurance companies, I can confidently say that Erie homeowners insurance is the most intrusive homeowners insurance I’ve ever dealt with. They think they have the right to tell my tenant what she can store on her own back porch! It’s not a deck where one might worry about the weight although that’s really none of their business. It’s an exterior cement pad with a roof over it and Erie Homeowners sent an agent to go into her backyard and tell her she had to reduce the amount of stuff she had stored on her own back porch.

Before you say well, it could be a safety issue… Think about how you’d like it if your insurance company sent somebody to investigate your backyard, and what items you had stored on your back porch at any given time and then denied you insurance because in their opinion, they didn’t like what you had stored there. They had multiple other things on their little checklist things I’ve never ever had to worry about with any other insurance company in 67 years of living!
