Microwave was purchased on 9-9-2008 and installed on 11-18-2008 model #DMT24205 Serial Number XB06382314. On 6-29-2010, I had to replace two switches at a cost $275.00. One week later, both switches failed again they wanted $275.76 to replace the magnetron and the same two switches. Again on 9-15-2010, I paid the $275.76 now we have paid over $550.00 to repair the microwave. Today 9-17-2010, I went to use it for the first time since the repair and it doesn't work at all. Company is hard to reach, I can't talk to any one the company that sold it to me. They went out of business. We were ripped off would never buy a Decor product again.

I had a complete kitchen renovation 2 years ago. I purchased a Dacor Gas Cooktop. I have had problems 4 times with the LED lights burning out (1 in particular but then it becomes a chain reaction). Dacor has replaced the lights and the wiring harness in the past.
The last change out was 2 months ago. Bingo! Here we go again. So, what are we going to do this time? It's obvious that there is a defect with this product. I want to see if Dacor stands behind their products.

I bought my Dacor double oven in 2001. For five years I travelled for work and the oven was very lightly used, maybe once per month. About a year ago, the touch keypad began sticking and the oven beeping. My local Dacor dealer thinks it will cost about $2,000 to repair. Dacor customer service was unwilling to help. I paid about $6000 for this unit and would expect a better quality control panel for this kind of money. I have also previously paid to repair the touch keys on my Dacor vent hood. I would not recommend Dacor.

I was disappointed that our double oven, which we loved, had sudden death at 15 years of age. It is an unfortunate result of the Silicon Age in which we live. However, the Dacor representative was able to help us replace the unit with a new one at an affordable price. It was a very helpful solution through a frustrating experience. I will continue to use Dacor whenever the opportunity arises. There’s no damage, just happiness.

Three years ago, I purchased a Dacor Downdraft Vent. During the first year it stopped working and required a technician to replace the on/off button. Fortunately, that was replaced under warranty. Recently, it again stopped working. It required a third on/off button and a new lift-motor, and cost me $500.00. The item is a piece of junk and has never worked smoothly.

After suffering with my Dacor range for a number of years, I filed a complaint on this site (see Donald in Uxbridge on June 13th). This was a knee jerk complaint, born out of my frustration, with the unit that day. Soon after, I started getting calls from Dacor (I could see from the caller ID). My wife and I answered a call together to provide all the facts to the person that called. The person took all the information, and offered us a free fix (mother board and some sensor) from the place we purchased the unit, as long as we take the step to put the unit on it's own electrical circuit.
I have not seen it, but this is supposed to be in the installation manual. The seller has already called to schedule the fix, but I am waiting for the electrician to put in the new circuit tomorrow. Hopefully, this will fix the problem for more than the 8-9 months the last mother boards have lasted.
I found the Dacor representative respectful, sympathetic, and very willing to do anything to get this resolved. This was very different from the results a few years ago, when I was told to put the unit back on a service contract. I'm hopeful.

Our Dacor PGM series gas cooktop has a a similar problem with the burners popping when the cabinets below are opened up. It too started as a small issue when we bought the home and progressively has gotten worse. The Tech said we needed a new burner cap. And recently, the reverse happened --- the burner caused the cabinet door below to open and hit someone's kneecap. We immediately turned off the gas and had it checked. No leaks were found below. Like the other person having the same problem (Nov. 2009), this unit is not suppose to stain. Customer service told me to use OFF oven cleaner. No change. Our front left burner area (same as the other person with the problem) is badly burned and stained and can't be cleaned. This has been ongoing for over 3 years.
We called Dacor again after the cabinet door exploded outward and have been given the run around. The local appliance store no longer works with the Dacor product line. The next step is to take off the cooktop. Their products are hazardous. I would never buy another Dacor.

In 2008, we remodeled the kitchen and went with all Dacor appliances. Given the unfriendly customer service, and the product unreliability, I wouldn't purchase another Dacor product, if someone paid me cash money to do it. Clearly a case where cost and brand, far outweigh quality. I've already had to have the built-in refrigerator serviced (thankfully that was at least in time for the 2 year warranty), due to the faulty water dispenser and ice maker.
Today I discovered that the Dacor Down Vent is literally burned and melting. Because it's not under warranty, I'll have to fork out nearly $160.00 just to have someone look at it. When I called Dacor, they basically told me it was my problem, and asked how could they not be sure, that I didn't spill grease into the down vent, and caused it to burn. Even when I let the customer service rep know that based on the damage, I was able to see inside the unit. It's a wonder I've not had a house fire. The Dacor rep could have cared less and told me "You aren't t hearing me. Since the warranty is expired Dacor, has no liability to do anything".
Turns out the only thing getting burned now, is the consumer but I heard Dacor loud and clear. Repeat business is not a concern, and happy existing customers does not seem to be a concern either. My two cents? Spend your money with brands that value their consumers. Dacor, at least in my opinion, is not that company.

I want to post a "thank you" to Dacor for standing behind their product. I posted a note about a month ago about problems I have been having with my cooktop and the LCD lights. Dacor came through and replaced all at no charge, covering parts and labor. The recurring issue I hope is finally taken care of. My customer service guy was on top of the situation and even called yesterday to make sure I was satisfied and that the work was done. Thumbs up for Dacor!

I purchased a plumbed built in coffee maker. I had many repairs in warranty year but machine never worked. They sent an add-on decalcifier that did not fit into space designed for coffee maker and could not be retrofitted. Result: constant leakage until water poured out from under machine. Cabinet ruined. Dacor subsequently pulled further coffee makers from market and have basically told us to dump them and there is no compensation for a $2300.00 product.
They have refused to stand by their product even though they knew beforehand that the product was floored. My dealer (Goldstar appliances) has tried to get help but to no avail. The sales rep is also embarrassed by Dacor’s lack of caring. Checking the internet I see many people in my position and wonder how we can all get compensated for defective product. Cabinet built specifically for coffee machine severely damaged and I had purchased new machine to fit the space. Out of pocket 2 machines and repair to cabinet and a few service call charges.

I would not buy another Dacor stove if they paid me. I had the mother board replaced 2 times in 3 years while under warranty, and then I just stopped paying for coverage because I could get a plain-old Sears oven for the cost of 2 years of coverage. Currently, the oven kind of works in the winter (I can at least leave it plugged in), but the stove takes forever to warm up. I once timed it taking 5 minutes from the time I hit bake until the time the stove actually lit (it's gas), and 25 minutes before it came up to 400 degrees. In the summer time I have to leave it unplugged, or it just beeps and has a code of F1 for no reason and it won't stop.

We would like to post an addendum to our complaint regarding Dacor and our microwave that caught on fire. You have it posted on your site. Since that posting, Dacor has contacted us and, even though the microwave is not under warranty anymore, has agreed to send us a new one (the current updated model) at a very reduced charge.
Although my initial contact with the company was negative, we did receive a personal call after I e-mailed them directly on their site. I would appreciate it if you could add to our post that Dacor did attend to our problem. They also are not in bankruptcy which I was mistaken in stating on my complaint. If possible, please add this note to our complaint or remove the complaint since I feel Dacor has done a good job attending to the problem.

I have a Dacor Dual Fuel Range purchased in 2000. The bottom front door hinge broken. It's oven light hasn't worked for 9 years. The front left burner hasn't worked for a year and it won't ignite and there isn't any clicking. The front panel also is cracked and the door insulation hasn't held up. I just went online to find a repair service to fix these issues but found this website. Now I'm concerned with getting good service and repair costs. When the range was purchased, its price was on the upper end. I expected it to perform better than it has to date. At the time its design met my needs unlike other models. If I were to replace it now, I have many similar choices and would choose one of those.

We purchased a Dacor microwave and have had many problems (broken handle, control panel went out three times); however, this evening it actually caught on fire. We had the microwave on and it started to make strange flashes. We turned it off and then noticed flames coming out of the top of the microwave. It was obviously electrical. We are in the process of contacting both Dacor (but since they are in banckruptcy, I don't expect much) and the place we purchased it from. There is extensive damage to our cabinets, walls and wood floor. I write this to warn people to avoid any Dacor appliance.

I bought a Dacor coffee maker in June 2005. By August, I was still waiting for delivery. I had to take the floor model in order to finish the remodel of my kitchen and be done with the contractor. By January 2006, my machine was giving me problems and not working properly. It turned out there was only one company to service my machine, Lee's Appliances. When I was finally able to get someone out, I was told it just needed adjusting. Friedman's was very nice and concerned but could be of no help.
By the first of March, my machine was still not working properly. After multiple calls to Dacor and Lee's, they came out. And after a year of constant trouble, Dacor authorized the coffee maker to be replaced in December. A new system was installed on January 12, 2007. Almost immediately we were once again having issues. Now our warranty is up, so we are now paying a service call charge, and Lee's informed us the replacement part alone is $1300. Lee's was going to try and find the part cheaper and get back to us. We never heard from them again. Also, the gentleman who has been servicing the machine is no longer with Lee's but has gone to work for Dacor.
By January 2010, we figured that out of the approximate four years we have had these two machines, they have functioned less than a total of 6 months. We paid $3000 for this piece of equipment. To get service we had to arrange it at Lee's convenience, not ours. It flooded our kitchen twice, and follow up service was almost impossible to get. We are done with the apathetic attitude of Dacor and Lee's. And we are going to pull the unit out and be done with it. I would not recommend a Dacor product to anyone.

I purchased a Dacor Dual Fuel oven with ceramic broiler. A year after install, the oven would not heat. I found after $150.00 that the igniter failed. One year after replacing the igniter, it failed again. Then the bake heating element failed a year later and now the "mother board" appears to have failed. For an appliance that is marketed in the premium segment with a premium price $5000+, it is not acceptable for it to fail multiple times within three years from new purchase and light use. This is breach of implied warranty of merchantability. We are now left with a very expensive appliance that is rendered useless for its marketed and intended use.

We purchased our Dacor diswasher 6 years ago thinking it was the best; boy, were we wrong. It never worked correctly. We had service men out countless times and spend hundreds on service calls, replaced the motor, and we even had a plumber ($650) later to reinstall it because we were told maybe it was not installed properly. Today a service man ($140) confirmed it will be over $300 to repair and will call with a quote forget it. When ever we can afford it we are going to replace it. I am so disappointed in our whole 6 years I only had use of a working dishwasher maybe one month. Dacor and other companies should really stop ripping off the public and not backing up their products.

There is only one thing worse than Dacor products, it is Dacor customer service. Our gripes are mostly contained in the messages posted by Judy of Slidell, LA on March 19, 2009 and by Maria of Rogers, MN on April 24, 2009. In brief, we bought the first coffee maker (for $2,700) in the summer of 2006. It lasted approximately 6 months and after several attempts at repair, and much wrangling, arm-twisting and hours spent on hold trying to speak a customer service agent, the unit was replaced after being usable approximately 6 out of 12 months. The second unit started malfunctioning within weeks of delivery and, after several repairs, finally quit for good after less than 3 years of service (unless we were willing to replace a $1,500 part, not counting installation labor). In the meantime, we made several futile attempts to contact customer service. Not worth the bother; they keep you on terminal hold, do not help you, do not return your calls, and do not follow-up on anything. All around, a bad experience with a bad organization.

I purchased "high end" Dacor products for my kitchen including a side by side refrigerator, a six-burner stove top and a double wall oven. I have had nothing but trouble with all three. The refrigerator was delivered with a blown "mother board" so that it wouldn't work. It took me two weeks and multiple calls and letters to replace the refrigerator. The replacement has a handle that is still loose and a ding on one of the stainless steel doors. The bottom oven broke within the first month and neither the top nor bottom oven cooks evenly despite the claims. The stovetop flints keep clicking every time I light a burner and I have to turn them all on randomly until the clicking stops. I will never purchase Dacor again. Sheer annoyance.

I purchased a Dacor over the range microwave oven. When I went to use it one day, there was a bag of rolls stored in the microwave. When I pulled out the rolls, I did not realized that the turntable dish is not secured in the microwave and just sits on top of a round plastic ring that rotates. The microwave dish came out with and went down vertically on my left foot and shattered.
I was not wearing shoes at the time and the dish severed the tendon on the top of my left foot, requiring surgery. My surgery was in October and, after 13 weeks in a cast and then a leg brace, I am still in physical therapy with continuing pain. I recently went to Home Depot to look at other microwave ovens and everyone had a mechanism that locks the turntable dish in place, so that it can slide out. To clean them, you have to lift them up off of the rotor on which they sit and are anchored in order to remove them. None of them slide the way mine does.

I have a Dacor RSD30R oven that was purchased when we bought our house in 2004. We don't use the oven much and wondered why there were cracks on the front bezel. We didn't worry about it as the oven and stove top was working fine. It just didn't look good. Suddenly a beeping began with a code of F-1. I called a repair person to check it out because I had to turn off the fuse to get it to stop beeping. He let me know that this is a very common problem with Dacor ovens and he has replaced many. $1100 would cover the bezel and computer control on the front. There is a defect in the design that allows heat from the stove to overheat the electronic control panel on the front of the stove. This heat causes the bezel to crack and destroy the computer control. Dacor has recognized this problem and has redesigned a replacement part for this stove so that heat will escape without baking the control panel. I researched Dacor and couldn't believe the pages of complaints by consumers.
I waited on the phone for 60 minutes and finally was able to talk to a person. She was nice, but there was nothing Dacor was doing to replace the model defect. I got the sense she has heard this many times and her job was to say sorry. I am going to contact a local TV station that enjoys going after companies that have cheated customers.

I installed the DACOR Renaissance wall oven with model number **** on 10/1/2008. I started having control panel problems just before Thanksgiving that year. The control panel is beeping and LEDs are flashing. It appeared to be a heat problem since the control panel was very warm to touch. After it cooled off, the problem went away. We don't cook much so it was passed over until on 12/31/2008 when the control panel showed a C01 error code. Obviously, it was a solid failure.
We called DACOR, we were promptly given a Distinctive Service Reference Number, and they told us that a repairman would be out for the fix. It was repaired on 1/23/09 by replacing two circuit boards. He would've replaced the control panel but I was given the wrong part by DACOR. The unit worked fine for 1 month then the cooling fan stopped working. After 2 more weeks, everything failed and I called DACOR again on 3/12/2009. I called DACOR on 3/27/2009 to complain about the no repair-contractor contacting me. The repair was done 1 week later by replacing all the circuit boards and control panel. This fix lasted for eight months.
On early December 2009, we started all over again with the beeping and flashing LEDs. The control panel was getting warm to the touch again. We decided to wait and see how long before the unit failed because it was outside of the 1 year warranty. The failure happened on 1/7/2010 and I immediately called DACOR to complain. The customer service representative said that they have been having problems with that model and a newer control board had been issued. I asked if the newer control board was installed on my unit during the previous repair. I also asked about an extended warranty from the previous repair. She said she would check and call me back.
That was 1 month ago and I have been calling every week to leave a message on the representative's voice mail. On the second call, I decided to route my call through a different channel and got a different representative. She looked over my file and told me that my warranty appeared to have been extended until June 2010 and that the oven repair would be covered. That was 2 weeks ago. I keep calling and only get voice mail. The woman on the switchboard is very pleasing and routes my call every time. She even gave me the direct lines to the representatives I have had contact with including the manager. I left a message with the manager today, 2/12/2010, but feel this was a waste of time. It has less than 100 hours on a higher end appliance since the installation. It is now unusable for a period totaling about 4 months since the installation because of the problems.

Dacor refuses to acknowledge any issue with this part and will not stand behind the repair. I will never, never buy Dacor again. Their electronics are obviously bad. Five service calls later, even on Christmas eve, it still does not work, as well as the oven. The control is bad. This oven is less than a year old. I have no intentions of waiting another year and five service calls. I think they have a bad product. The people at Dacor offered me an Electrolux replacement. My dishwasher was almost $2900. I purchased 3 Dacor appliances from Percy's in Worcester in November 2003. Shortly after that, I had my first repair call for my dual fuel oven. The heat needed to be re-calibrated in the oven. Six years later, of course after the 5-year warranty expired, I have 4 attempts at fixing the heating issues with my oven. Now, I am facing $1000 in repair costs on a 6-year old unit that cost $4000. It doesn't end there. I self-cleaned my wall oven and blew a fuse. Never in 25 years has this happened to me with any other kind of self-clean oven. To top it all, my microwave oven now has a handle that just cracked in half and the display panel that looks like a pacman game gone bad!
When I asked if it was worth repairing, I was told to buy a Whirlpool! All the bells and whistles on my Dacor products seem to have gone bad at the same time! I think a luxury product line like Dacor should have a little more going for it than this. In dealing with the repair folks, all I have heard is how difficult it is to get parts from Dacor. My one contact with customer service at Dacor was so disgusting (the person I spoke with was snobbish and unhelpful) that I really wouldn't want to try to contact them directly ever again. Our dishwasher has had a long repair history for only owning it for two years. It has been repaired two times under its one year warranty and three times under it extended warranty. Most recently, the company repairing the Dacor dishwasher specified in this complaint took three weeks to receive a part that was on 'backorder.' However, the day I called to follow up on why we had heard nothing on the status of the part, the company told me that coincidentally the part was being shipped the very day I called.
When the company took another week to schedule an appointment to repair the dishwasher, the repair man no-call no showed. When we called to find out why, his vehicle had apparently 'broken down' on New Year's eve at 2:30pm. We then found out that even though the company is located in our town, the repair man however works out of San Jose which is a two hour drive. Once again a coincidence.
The second time, the repair man was scheduled to come and do the repair. He no-call, no-showed again. This time we were informed by customer service that he had a mandatory meeting he forgot about and they rescheduled again for the following week. The third time, the same repair man came to do the job he was scheduled for 8am and we were assured he would be on time because we were leaving for vacation that day. He no called no showed and after repeatedly making phone calls to the company, he showed two and a half hours late. He replaced the part, stayed for 10 minutes and left.
The dishwasher broke down again 10 minutes later during its test cycle. After calling customer service to get the technician to return immediately, we were informed they would make an appointment for the following Monday. Currently the dishwasher is still in disrepair for six weeks since our first phone call.

My Dacor dual range broiler seems to stop working whenever I self clean the oven. I have stopped using the broiler and use my outdoor grill. In Dec. 2008, I called Dacor to see if this was a common fault with dual fuel ovens. I was told to send my service bills to them for evaluation, which I did. I had been told that my range was old and out of warranty (Dec. 2001) and she was not sure if anything could be done. They never got back to me. In August of 2009, I self cleaned my oven and when I opened the door found that the oven glass had cracked during the self clean cycle. I called for repair.
The authorized Dacor repairman refused to repair the unit & wrote on the bill - multiple problems - advised customer to call Dacor - unit not safe - cracks in inner cavity / unit well taken care of. Dacor wants me to purchase a new 30" range from them at a cost of $3600 plus s/h & tax. I would have to install the new range & remove the old one. The other alternative was to repair the door & broiler & they would give me paint for the cracks. There are so many that is impossible. According to articles on the computer, these cracks pose a health hazard because filaments of porcelain (possibly a cancer causer) during high heat have created shards and have been swallowed & have caused infection or cuts in intestines. Dacor not only does not call back, but refuses to acknowledge the fact that this cracking has occurred due to a manufacture's defect.

When we turned the oven on to heat after one minute or less, we heard a "pop" and our circuit breaker tripped. Thinking this is a brand new oven and a brand new house, we assumed we were experiencing an anomaly and this couldn't possibly be happening. So we tried again. I flipped the breaker on, turned on the oven and again, the oven "popped" and the breaker tripped. At that point, we turned off the breaker and cooked our muffins in a little toaster oven (it did quite well, thank you).
First, I called our electrician who came out a day or two later and could find nothing wrong with the circuit and proclaimed it an "oven problem". So I immediately called the retailer and advised him of the problem. I also advised him of the gas leak with our Dacor 36" dual fuel range (model ER36DSCH). He told me to call Dacor. I refused and told him to do so as I had already wasted 2 hours on this issue with the oven, range and the electrician. After having called, we assumed the problems would be fixed within 3-4 days, a week at worst. Boy were we wrong! First, we did not hear anything from Dacor for over two weeks. Nothing! No email, no update on parts, nothing from the retailer. Nothing! Period! Meanwhile, here we are with a $7,500 range and a $2,400 wall oven, both of which have never worked; one not properly, the other not at all.
Finally, very irate, I called the retailer after having returned from the Thanksgiving holidays and asked what was going on and when will these items be fixed or replaced. He did not know. I then called Dacor customer service on November 30th, spoke with someone (Cindy) in customer service, explained the issues and demanded to speak with someone further up the supervisory chain. She gave me the name of George ** and transferred me to his voicemail, which stated he would be out of the office until December 7th for vacation and training. He never called back. Friday, December 11th, our plumber was out to repair the kitchen sink fixture and asked about the gas leak and how long we had the leak. We advised since we moved in. He said it was going to make him sick and called the builder who immediately sent our HVAC contractor out to check for leaks. They spent 2-3 hours here with 2 people and could find no leaks. Note: One of the HVAC guys said the leak was making him dizzy. Their conclusion, the leak is in your range.
Fortunately, while they were here I had them install a gas cutoff valve in the basement gas feeder line to the range as the only cutoff valve to the range was behind and could not be reached without moving the oven (this oven weighs 350 pounds), something you could not do. I then called Mr. ** and left a message regarding the situation and demanded he call me. A few hours later, he called and we discussed the situation. He claimed he was not aware of the gas leak with the range and as to the wall oven, more parts were on order to fix it. The problem had occurred at the factory when a wire was not connected and the bare wire rubbed against the housing causing the short. I said fine, just get me a new oven, one that works and the kind that I supposedly purchased, not one that has never worked and was defective when it arrived. I did not agree to buy an oven that does not work and never has.
Mr. ** said he could not replace an oven once it was installed. I countered with the fact that the oven was never "installed", it was merely put in the wall but it never operated, therefore, the installation process was never completed. His offer, we can extend your warranty for one year. Our position, totally unacceptable! Get us a new wall oven, one that works! He said he would have a customer service contact us. Meanwhile, as to the range, it has never worked as intended or designed. Gas leaks are not only dangerous, but obviously are an indication that the product is not operating properly and never has. The only conclusion that can be reached is that we were sold two defective products, two defective products that Dacor, to date, is either unwilling or unable to fix or replace.
Imagine if these items were a TV or stereo and they had never worked properly, if at all. You as the consumer would have immediately returned them to the retailer and asked to exchange them for operating equipment, you know, the kind I thought I was buying. No big deal, just give me another one. I'm not going to wait weeks or months for you to fix them, just replace them. Here it is December 13th and our wall oven still does not work and our range is leaking gas so much that we were getting headaches and finally had to have a cutoff valve installed in the basement so we could cut off the gas to the range. Last time the Dacor rep was out, he advised us that there was nothing more he could do and to call.

Our Dacor PGM Series gas cooktop has had a problem of the burners popping when the cabinets below are opened up. This started out as a very small issue when we built our custom home three years ago. But the issue has grown over time to when the cooktop is dangerous to use. Currently, when we light a burner and open a bottom cabinet door, the burner explodes in our face.
When we called customer service after purchase, I explained the issues we were experiencing. The customer service person told us that the ventilation of the cabinet wasn't proper and explained to me what needed to be done. We had the work done as recommended but saw no difference in the operation of their cooktop. This unit is stainless steel and was sold to us as a unit which wouldn't stain. The front left burner area is badly burned and stained and can't be cleaned with any type of stainless steel chemistry. We also found out that this unit is sealed and doesn't need ventilation from below.
The popping of the burners have continued to grow worse over the last three years. I called Dacor again a month ago and was told that there must be a gas leak and to have the gas company come out. I did. They did find a gas leak when the cooktop was turned on. They had to shut down our gas supply at the home upon leaving due to the danger.
I called a plumber, and they came out and told us the valve in the wall below the cooktop was leaking. That is why the stove would burst in flames when the doors were opened up. For $220.00, they repaired the supposed leak and left. The problem didn't change. The front two burners continued to explode when lit, and any bottom cabinet door was opened.
In frustration, I decided to take apart one of the burners on the stove myself to see if I could ascertain what might be causing the explosive burner issue. Upon unbolting one of the burner rings on the stove and lifting it off, the problem showed up instantly. There is a heat resistant rubber o-ring, and it was charred and broken in many pieces. I took apart another burner and found the same thing.
Now that I understood what the problem was, I called Dacor's customer service again. I talked with a very nice man who took all of my information and said that he would get back with me and expected some good news for me. Two days later, he called and told me that I could purchase a new cooktop for a discounted price. Huh?
I explained to him I wasn't asking for a new stove or felt I should bear the brunt of the poor manufacturing issue. I was asking for our expensive purchase to be fixed and made correct. I even told him I would fix it myself if Dacor would supply the parts. He said he could sell me the parts at a discounted price. I told him that wasn't an option.
Today, he called me and said that Dacor wasn't willing to do anything to help us as the unit is out of warranty. Needless to say, the parts used are not sufficient for the device's normal use. During the conversation, the customer service rep shifted me off Dacor and suggested I get the parts from an online parts company in our state. In frustration, I called the parts supplier, and they don't stock one of the gaskets and would have to get them from Dacor.
Dacor has such a poor reputation in our area that the local appliance repair person won't work on their products. In looking around on the web at other consumer issues and surveys of cooking appliances, Dacor didn't rate very high. And all of the reports I read showed the failure was in taking care of their customers in and out of warranty.

I wouldn't recommend buying any of Dacor’s products. We purchased Dacor double oven. At $6,220, it’s not a trivial expense. 18 months later, the bottom oven stopped working. Since we never even used this oven, we only learned about it through the message on the control panel. The repairman replaced a circuit board and we were forced to pay over $600 for repair. The technician called Dacor, explained the situation (bottom oven was never used) and asked if they would at least cover the cost of repair. Dacor refused on the basis that the 12-month warranty expired. I followed up with a letter offering to cover the cost of service as long as they would pay for defective parts. Dacor declined to cover the cost of parts. Instead, they offered free 12 months warranty. This so-called 12 months warranty is nothing more than an insurance policy against defects. It means that the company itself doesn't believe in its product. Frankly, I don't understand why this company is still in business.

I owned the Epiure double oven for 2 years. While in cleaning mode, the interior glass window shattered, completely spider webbed. Rachel at customer service stated the glass was out of warranty and the glass breaks when in cleaning mode from time to time because it gets so hot. They refused to agree that it is a defect. No mention of this in any Dacor paperwork. Oven out of commission, interior glass broken and Thanksgiving is two weeks away.

I have a service contract on my double wall Dacor oven. This contract expires on 8/11/2011. My oven has broken several times over time and it has been very difficult for me to have this company repair it properly. It has also been in a very untimely fashion.
At this point, I contacted them in September for service and it took several weeks for a repair person to repair my oven. I had to follow up on when the part was in, they never called me. The oven was repaired about 1 month ago and has broken down again. On Wednesday, November 4, I contacted them again and explained that the oven wasn't working. I also called 3 times on Thursday, November 5, 2009 and these calls covered over 2 hours and I was told that someone would call me with an appointment.
I also explained that I wanted them to send someone else out to analyze my oven as they didn't fix it properly and Thanksgiving is approaching. After not receiving a telephone call from any repair service by today Monday, November 9, I called the General Electric Service Company and they stated that there's no information on their computer about me calling. The people there didn't document any of this and I the consumer have a broken oven.
I purchased this service contract in good faith and I am not receiving service. At this point I may have to purchase a new oven as I need to cook meals for my family. I'm hoping that you can assist me in this matter, it shouldn't happen to me or any other consumer.

In July my wall oven crashed and we attempted to purchase replacement parts. Many calls and emails later we stupidly decided to purchase a new Dacor wall oven. Our Visa bill has been charged for this oven but despite many unanswered phone calls, we still do not have the oven. We were told to contact the transportation company, WRC.com, but when we did so we were directed to World Racing Corporation and there doesn't seem to be a record of a transportation company named WRC. Is Dacor going out of business? Are they having financial difficulties? Have we thrown away our money?

We purchased a Dacor Microwave/Convection Oven with a range exhaust fan when we remodeled the kitchen. Just after the warranty ran out, the microwave just made a loud noise and failed to heat anything. The company recommended Wuerstlin Appliance to repair the unit. Wuerstlin charges $120 just for traveling to the home and does not apply this to repairs that may need to be made. The worst case estimate for repairs was over $700.
The other choice that Dacor gave me was a microwave upgrade for an additional $750. I have already paid well over $1,200 for this unit. I have a $100 Sharp microwave that I have been using for over 12 years with no problems and this high-end Dacor microwave lasts less than two years! I will never purchase anything with the Dacor name on it again and will advise all of my friends to steer away from them as well. Poor quality products with a high-end price.

We purchased a Dacor dual fuel range in 1997 and within a year had multiple problems with the functionality. While under warranty the range was serviced several times with various parts replaced. After about twelve months the front panel developed a crack and the cover of the digital readout began peeling. This was replaced under warranty. The crack and peeling digital readout cover occurred again a year later and was replaced again by Dacor. The third panel developed the same crack, etc., but by then the unit was out of warranty and Dacor only offered to sell the part at a discount. The total cost of replacing the panel was several hundred dollars, and we chose to just live with it.
For the past ten years the unit has worked fine, although the oven door latch never seems to close properly or secure as it is supposed to. Then, out of the blue, we were downstairs and suddenly heard a beeping alarm signal a few weeks ago. It was coming from the range, which had not been used for several hours, and the digital panel indicated an error message. The instruction manual noted that the warning signal indicates a malfunctioning circuit. The warning beep did not turn off after following the instructions, so we had to cut the main electrical power supply to the range. The estimate to repair the range is over $1,000 minimum. We are shopping for a new range and obviously Dacor is not on the list of options. This was a very expensive, top of the line range. Similar units are selling today for $4,000. Very nice styling and functions, but the quality is horrible. We discovered a neighbor up the street has a similar Dacor model with the same problems of cracking and malfunction.

From the very first month of use, the plastic casing that houses the electronic operating system showed fine cracks. Nothing was done about it. The dealer Blum and Krup in NY said I should complain to the manufacturer. I heard nothing from Dacor after writing to them. The phone never seemed to connect to a real person the moment they heard you had a complaint.
Recently, the entire plastic case is disintegrating with normal use. I checked on the internet and found hundreds of complains of exactly the same kind. Dacor will sell you a discounted plastic panel, but you have to pay for the service and shipping, etc. This costs about $250.00. I think you should insist that Dacor do the replacement and repair free for a defective product. They do not care about complaints and often hang up without warning.
Please do something strong and just to this company. I am in a coop, and a fire resulting from these cracks could kill many. Luckily, I am not using the oven anymore--at great inconvenience--and am waiting to take the strength to deal with their callous customer service again.

Our duel-fuel range has had problems for years. The glass oven door shattered (when it was still within warranty), plus multiple other issues. I hate the electronic control board, which makes it very difficult to set the timer. The most recent problem is this: The oven light went out, which I thought was no big deal because I don't use the light that often. But now the light chatters on and off constantly. I took the bulbs out, but the switch still chatters noisily and very annoyingly. Dacor says that the only repair is to replace the entire motherboard for the electronic control panel, at a cost of almost $500. For a product that cost over $5,000, Dacor is a giant ripoff and very poor quality. I would not buy any Dacor product ever again.

This is a follow-up to my previous post about our $6889 Dacor refrigerator. I retrieved the box that was sent with the add-on part that we needed to cure the problem aka defect. This is what the instructions said: “Important: Evaporator Drain Tray Freeze Up Issue in 2003 through 2007 production - creates internal water leak from ceiling of freezer causing water and ice to accumulate on the ceiling, door and seals of freezer. It can also cause a no-cool situation, a noise issue when ice forms blocking evaporator motor and blade, or damper diffuser failure.” Clearly, without a doubt it is a defect by their own words. People should be warned about the way Dacor does business. I am a realtor and have lost business because I have been dealing with this.

Nov. 2006, we purchased Dacor Epicure 48" refrigerator ($6,899) among other Dacor appliances. The refrigerator lasted 3 weeks as a defect with the doors and they would not close and seal. Appliance store gave us a new one. Two years 8 months later, it developed a loud grinding noise in augur motor in ice maker that ran 24/7. The freezer developed excessive ice and icicles. The augur would freeze up, shut off, freezer would go from 0 degrees to 32 degrees and everything melt, then kick on, freeze up and repeat cycle all over.
I found an "authorized" repairman, Ron in Reno, NV. Ron said problem with these refrigerators, they need an add-on part, an evaporative pan assembly. Ron also said "there should have been a recall on these." Also informed we would have to pay $628. I gave Ron $300 deposit, waited for 3 weeks, told part on back-order (hmm, must be a demand for the part? ) I called Dacor, spoke to J. **. He said only 2yr warranty on defects, we have to pay, he will be nice enough to sell us the part for discount. Fine, just send us the part.
The part arrives, called Ron at Protek to install, he can't come for 4 days. Tues. 9/15, Ron's service tech arrives, here 2.5 hours another $134. Five hours later, no ice out of the ice maker that worked prior to anyone coming out. I called Ron, he tries to say he bent over backwards for us, when I reminded him of all the things he didn't do, like communicate and keep his word, he apologized. Then he said he won't come back for a week and we have to pay for the ice maker. All of a sudden he only comes to Fernley on Tuesdays. After 5 minutes, Ron said I should call someone else, I gladly agree, except Ron said "there is no one else besides him and he refuses to come back".
I emailed and called J. ** at Dacor. I read him the warranty in the back of the refrigerator booklet. Doesn't say anything about 2 years on defects. It does say "5 years on sealed parts such as evaporator etc." I argued that the part we needed is not a part of our refrigerator, it is an add-on part to cure a defect. J. ** refuses to do anything and tells me that Ron will not come back and service me and there is nothing I can do.
Ron had told me "you went to the big boss to throw me under the bus", so this appears to be Ron's motivation for not coming back. Ron has refused to give me an invoice for what we paid him. The service tech said I would receive one the next day. I waited, emailed Ron on Thurs 9/17, no invoice. Dacor says I am out of warranty and they won't do anything. I have called Osborne & Dermody, where we purchased $50K in appliances for help. Kevin at Dermody cannot believe Dacor's attitude and he clearly agrees with me this is a defect. No part on our refrigerator failed, we needed a part manufactured especially for this problem to cure the problem, hello! Defect. Do not recommend Dacor appliances, poor quality, no service, no warranty and unprofessional customer service. Thank goodness I took photos of the icicles and sheets of ice in my freezer.

I built a house in 2003/2004 and had a $2,200 Dacor wall oven installed. During Thanksgiving last year the light in the oven started flickering on/off after we pulled the turkey out and shut the oven off. After that anytime we used the oven we'd have to shut the breaker off in the garage when we were done because the flickering/clicking noise wouldn't stop until the oven had cooled.
Also, not to be forgotten is our $550 Dacor cooktop. One day I walked by and the burner was glowing red - about an hour after I had used it. I checked the switch and it was off. I played around with the dial and got the burner shut off. A few times I came home to a glowing burner! So this too had to be shut on/off in the garage. I emailed Dacor and explained what was happening with both their products. There was barely a response telling me they were sorry but there was nothing they could do, the warranty had expired (I bought the cooktop and oven at the end of 2003), and no this had never happened to anyone else. After several emails complaining that I didn't want my house to burn down and to please fix the problem, they sent a repairman out but he never came back.
My husband fixed the oven problem by unhooking the light so I don't have to turn it on/off in the garage. I love having dinner parties where I use a flashlight to check on the meal. With the cooktop we finally got the burner to stop turning on by itself. We just don't use it; of course, it's the nice large one. Every once in awhile someone else cooks and the burner accidently gets used; then we have go back to turning it on/off in the garage until we can get the burner to stay off. It ticks me off that I paid premium dollars to upgrade to this level of bad product.

My Dacor dishwasher model# MDV24S purchased on October 3, 2007 quit working on June 17, 2009. I had purchased the extended warranty. The control board and membrane are not working. I called Urners from whom I purchased. I called the extended warranty company on 06/19/09. Thirty days later, a repairman had still not been out. I emailed the vice president, only because I had made so many calls to the service dept. who kept blaming the delay on Dacor.
On July 22, a repairman replaced the membrane and memory board, and told me it was fixed and left. It was not fixed; the blue light on the start switch was not working. The timer countdown works for 2 minutes and shuts off, and the blue LED light on the bottom is not working at all. I called Urners again on July 23. I complained to the repairman and the service manager. Both said they reorderd a new LED light and the control board and membrane were the way they were, because that's the way Dacor was making them.
Now I begin calling the extended warranty company for help. They are National Electronics, NAWACA, I called them, on 7/23, 8/3, 8/6 and 8/15. I explained I was not happy with Urners. Urners said they couldn't fix the dishwasher. The warranty company placed a call to Urners with me on hold. The CSR with the warranty company said she would pass my case to another dept. and someone should call me with a name and number of a new repair company. CSR Debbie said someone would get back to me by Tuesday, August 11 but no one called.
I called the warranty company again and spoke to a CSR Phillip. He got Urners rep Carly on the phone and insisted that I allow Urners to come and repair the LED light. I have said over and over it is more than that. The argument became heated. Urners said they would send the repairman out again, I said ok and hung up.
On August 15th, 2009, the Urners repairman came out, looked at the dishwasher, said the door was too heavy and really required 2 men to take it off. He said they sent him out with the wrong LED light. I contacted the warranty company again. I told the CSR I wanted to speak to a supervisor, that I was not happy with Urners. I did that; they came and took the machine for 4 weeks to get it fixed! I called many times and they told me that they didn't have a part and that they were working on getting a new one.
Finally, I got the machine back and they told me that the entire inside was replaced and that the problem was that the system needed to be descaled by them once every three months or this would happen again! They told me that the repair would have been $1500, that I was lucky that it was under warranty. We barely used it! So every three months, I am supposed to pay a service person to remove my machine, be without it for 2 weeks for them to descale it and return it to me?! This was a $2,500 machine.
After 6 months or so, I came home to water leaking all over my kitchen, my cabinet in the kitchen full of water! So, I called Decor again. After waiting a while for a call back, they told me that my machine was out of warranty and that I should have bought their extended warranty, but now that it was expired and I need to pay for all the repairs. Well, I told them what was happening and Dacor said that they have a kit to add to the machine that would take care of it. I got the kit for free from them and learned that it cannot be installed by myself but would require a plumber!
So I did that. Now after installing the part, everything seemed okay for the entire day but when I woke up the next morning, I had my entire kitchen floor full of water, my cabinet full of water, the cabinet under the machine full of water and water dripping from the ceiling on the basement! The cabinet has water stains everywhere from the steam of the machine and the microwave that is above the coffee machine is not working. I am assuming it's from the heat and steam of the machine, unbelievable!
I have called, emailed letters and complaints asking that they replace my machine or at the minimum pay for the part and its installation, but I have gotten no response. When I asked why they never respond, they said they did not get my fax or email. If it weren't for the gaping hole in my wall (and the large price tag), I would throw this in the trash!

When they finally came out to see what the problem was, the heating part was cracked!!!! A brand new 3000 system!! I wanted a new one to guarantee I didn't have a defective product. Dacor refused. This made me totally uncomfortable. My machine is working. I stress over every time I have to take time to clean it. Takes the enjoyment out. I wish I had been told and advised. Would have never purchased it. Needless to say, way too much work.

I too purchased an expensive Dacor range which developed a crack in the front plastic above the range. Dacor offered me a discount after I sent a digital picture to the president. When the repair man came to replace it (I paid for that) he told me they should have had a recall as he has replaced so many of them, often repeatedly. I sent Dacor an email to complain and I have heard nothing. The repair man also said they have had trouble with the ignitors and they are expensive to fix too. Stay away from Dacor. What it cost to fix, I could buy another brand of stove.

Purchased the top of the line residential oven/stove on 12/05 Model RSD30S. April 10, 2007 I had the bezel replaced (black plastic top front where the control panel is located). The part started to crack. I got the part for free at that time but had to pay for labor to put it in ($350 Part). I just noticed the part cracking again. I called Dacor customer service and they said that they will give me this same part for a discount but I would have to pay for the labor plus shipping and handling. I told them that there has to be a defect and they should stand by their product because it to happen twice.
I also asked why does this happen and this person didn't know. I then said that I wouldn't recommend their products to builders and homeowners I deal with my job. I then got more of a discount for the part plus shipping, handling, and labor. This deal will only last for 15 days. What a joke!! This person also said this is a great deal, I can get the part and when the crack goes all the way up thru the control panel then replace it and then spend another $100 on labor to put it in.
I called Prizer’s Appliance in Pottstown where I bought the oven and of course they will not to anything to help. Please help. This is a defect in their product. I have read other people on the internet experiencing the same problem. The company shouldn't be allowed to sell these ovens until they can fix the problem. The crack doesn't affect the way the oven works now, but if the crack goes another inch, it could affect the control panel. I don't know why this is cracking. There is no direct heat or weight on the part.

In 1996 I purchased my dream home on the water in suny south Florida. It took me seven years of savings to finally be able to create, pay for and install my dream kitchen. After all the cabinets were custom made, I spent weeks and months seeking out the best appliances for my kitchen for the best price. I was originally seeking a Wolf or Viking range, but I was turned on to the Dacor appliance through a gentleman by the name of Van Weiss at Ajax Philadelphia Inc. He sold me a 30 inch Dacor Preference gas range (PGR30S-LP) along with a Sharp Microwave(R1754) that is installed above the range. (Copies of invoice included.)
I had nothing but challenges with the microwave. The entire operating system was an LDS unit. Living in Florida, we have lots of storms. Each time a storm would come and power would go off, or when we experienced brown outs in heavy summer heat, (we had the best surge protector on these appliances that you can buy) the LDS unit would go out and we were unable to use the microwave. During the warranty period, they kept sending a service company to replace the LDS unit. I knew the warranty would run out and I would then be in trouble with this unit. I wrote to Sharp and called to managers etc, then they finally replaced that microwave with another one. A Sharp Carousel (R2130JS). I was happy to have the replacement. Immediately, the entire microwave began melting above the stove. None of the lighting on the microwave works anymore inside or out. It is obvious that this should not have been installed above the Dacor Range and was improperly sold to me.
In 2006, the pilot mechanism in the Dacor Range went and I had to replace it to the tune of $300.00. The entire front of the range just above the door, where the operating system is has cracked and pieces have literally fallen out of the stove. So now, I have a $40,000 kitchen with appliances that are broken and falling apart with normal use. In August of 2008, I lost my business after 25 years and have fallen into very hard financial times along with many in this country. I simply cannot afford to go out and purchase new appliances. I have included pictures of the mess these appliances are in along with all the paperwork. I cannot believe that at 50 years old, I finally got to the place to buy my dream kitchen with top of the line appliances and it turned out to be such a nightmare. At the very least, I was hoping that your company could repair this situation. Please help me.

We purchased a Dacor built-in coffee maker (CM24P) that was installed in January 2007. It did not work correctly from the beginning. I spent hours on the phone with customer service telling me how I needed to clean and care for the machine, etc. I was patient for a while assuming that it was something I was doing wrong. I then spent hours dealing with repair men that were not familiar with this unit. Months later, after my unit was in the shop for nearly 8 weeks - it was re-installed. They told me that the entire inside was replaced and that the problem was that the system needed to be descaled by them once every three months or this would happen again! WHAT? We had barely used it! Every three months I am supposed to pay a service person to remove my machine, be without it for 2 weeks for them to de-scale it and return it to me?!
This was a $2,500 machine that was installed in a remodel - we honestly designed the kitchen around it! Dacor said that they would eventually have a kit to add to the machine that would take care of it. When this Kit became available, it was hundreds of dollars but I would be able to install it myself and my problem would be solved. I ordered the kit and learn that it cannot be installed myself but will require a plumber. What is most frustrating, is by the time this initial problem was realized by me, Dacor had redesigned their machines to have this component built in so that the descaling was not necessary. I have called, e-mailed and faxed letters and complaints asking that they replace my machine or at the minimum pay for the part and its installation but I have gotten no response. When I asked why they never respond, they said they did not get my fax or e-mail. Unbelievable! If it weren't for the gaping hole in my wall, (and the large price tag) I would throw this in the trash!

I bought a Dacor stove in 2003. The front is made with plastic. After a short time, it cracked. Dacor offered a new part. It cracked again. Dacor offered a new part. Now it has cracked again. Dacor will only offer me a new part. I must pay for the labor to replace it. The part is the control on the front of the stove. The stove is out of warranty so the company representative will only offer me a discount on a new one. She kept repeating that the stove was 5 years old so that was the best she was willing to do. I am very angry.
The customer service representative said I cannot have a new stove. The company knew that the part was defective. I was strung along. Now it is too late to do anything other than pay to have a replacement part. I feel deceived and cheated by Dacor. The person I spoke to (after getting the run around) is a supervisor. Her name is Ardelia The phone number is 1-800-793-0093 ext. **. I have googled this stove and there are a large number of complaints similar to mine. Could I file a class action suit?

I purchased a Dacor Automatic Coffee System. It was installed in renovation construction. It did not work. We moved into the house in January 2008. At that time, I requested a replacement. Dacor responded that they would not replace, only repair. After about three major repairs, the unit finally started working in May of 2008. After much going back and forth, Dacor said that the one year warranty would begin at the time the coffee maker started working. I now am faced with another major repair (brew system).
The coffee system has been out of service for one month. The replacement part finally arrived, but it was damaged, so that more time must go by before the machine can be repaired. Once again, I have tried to get Dacor to replace the unit. Their position is NO. As a matter of background for you, this system is a plumbed system and cost approximately $2,500.00. This is a very frustrating situation. I do not know what recourse I have as a consumer of a lemon appliance.

Purchased a DACOR 36 Outdoor Kitchen BBQ and had the builder install the unit in a custom built home. The unit was a top-of-the-line stainless steel unit and very expensive. After a year, the ignitors failed and blew the circuit breakers. A repairman came out to service the unit and found severe corrosion and rust surrounding the ignitor housing. Wires had obviously rusted through and shorted out.
The unit was stainless steel except internal parts. Florida humidity rusted out the outdoor screws, ignitors and wiring. This was obviously a flaw in the design of an outdoor grill. Dacor was called and letters written to the CEO without any response. DACOR does not stand behind their product. Now this expensive outdoor kitchen grill has to be lit by hand and no longer has the safety gas turn-off feature. Extremely disappointing for the price paid. I would stay away from the DACOR outdoor grill in high humidity areas of the country. Also, their customer service is extremely poor.

We purchased an Epicure 60-inch range for around $10,000.00 and shortly after it was installed the burners started clicking; as if the ignitors are trying to light even though they are already lit. The first service man told me to keep sandpaper handy so I could take apart the rings and sand them down every couple months. They have since been replaced or repaired many times. As of the last service call, I was told the problem could not be fixed. I am now stuck with an expensive appliance that I can not fix and can't afford to replace. Dacor is not standing behind their product and not even responding to my phone calls!

in 2000 i purchased a 36 - six burner gas stove (which was discontinued that year or first of next). the oven never worked properly and had 5 service calls which were temporary fixes as the oven burner unit tubing/ignitor repeatedly burned thru and emitted gas. finally warranty was over and i had to pay for the next time at such time i then agressively called customer service to no avail.
this stove ONLY cost $3500, but after 3 years dacor finally agreed to exchange/credit this amount on a different stove. the only comparable model was a dual fuel at a price of $6400, a difference of $2900 i had to pay, but thought surely it would be fine. had to pay shipping and installation as the warranty would not be good if i didn't have it professionally installed. more cost. five months later, the control knobs/lights quit. warranty replaced all as they said this was a known issue.
three months after warranty up, a burner failed to completely ignite. called for service and repair company was unable to fix it. they called service at DACOR and they said i needed to clean it. duh? second suggestion was to replace a part in the burner unit, which was done aT my expense. this did not fix the problem, so next they said to replace the entire unit. already at over $400 with no fix, the estimate to do this was $315 plus labor. next the fancy slide racks in the oven broke and am now short one rack, unless i wish to buy another no thank you.
the appliance repair company was willing to continue to follow DACOR'S suggested fixes or ask if i wanted to learn to live with it. after considering this and noting that the Another burners was starting to act up i decided to run it until i could afford a new stove. another issue i disregarded until they all started. the ignitors would click click click and sometimes i would have to light the burner with a match, then they couldn't be set on low without the ignitors clicking again. during all these repair attempts, the service company advised that the gaskets/seals were bad and because of poor design, would probably need to be replaced periodically.
my experience with DACOR has made me conclude that it would be just as effective to learn to live with the issues as best i can, since i feel addition issues will continue to surface.

It appears that this is a total failure/design flaw which could cause the unit to catch on fire, etc. Dacor is recommending the AVIV Service repair the unit, but our neighbors unit purchased at same wholesale appliance store has her unit going out as well.
