I purchased this upgrade to my kitchen renovation. The stainless steel stove has a great look, but that is all it has. This is my third repair (with much difficulty). The same problem - the bake ignitor goes bad and sends gas smells throughout the kitchen. On Christmas day, after preheating the oven, I opened the oven door and the inside was one large flame. The heat was intense and my right arm got hot from the heat. I immediately closed the oven and cancelled the bake setting. When I called Dacor the following morning, I thought I was talking with a robot. No emotions, no sense of caring. They must be programmed. I got no satisfaction. I said, "Do you understand? My stove went on fire and on Christmas day. My family was not sure if they should leave my house." I am extremely disappointed with Dacor.

We had problems with it all the time. The front plastic cracked and ended up causing the oven not to work. We have spent (over the past 9 years) about $1,000 on repairs. Now, we just had it fixed and our new clock that was installed into the oven is running fast. After just being fixed, it takes 20 minutes to heat up to 400. Honestly, it always has been that way. We’re not happy with it at all. We bought a Sears brand oven for our church, and it works great, and the cost was only a third of what we paid for the Dacor oven. The Sears brand bakes just as good as the Dacor (when it works). I think it was a waste of money to buy this Dacor oven.

Front bevel of my first rsd30 range purchased in California in 1999 cracked within nine months. Dacor said it was a defect in the design and would fix it for free. I sold the house in 2001 but the range was still not fixed. I moved to Nevada and bought a new rsd30 range and same thing happened within six months. It took a year to get it fixed at their expense. This bevel also cracked again for the second time in March 2011. Their response to this was to offer me a new bevel for $180 and I would have to pay for the installation. I declined the offer. The bevel is still cracked at this time. At the same time, I bought a PMOR30 over the range microwave and the front handle broke at least four times. And finally, the whole thing broke down and was not repairable.

In Aug. 2008, I contacted Dacor and they agreed to replace it with a new DMT2420 over the counter microwave for half the price ($390). Last week, this one blew up on me. Sparks were coming out through the side and a big hole in the removable shield and burn damage to the wall of the unit. I do not believe this unit is repairable. I contacted Michael at Dacor. He apologized and said that there's nothing they can do about it as it is out of warranty but they will look into it. What I want at this point is my money back that I paid for ($390) and for them to pick up the unit and get it out of my house. I will never buy another Dacor product again.

I owned a 36 Dual Fuel Epicure range that required at least an annual repair for the same thing. The control pad (the pad with the buttons that controls the oven and light) would fry. This would cause the oven light to come on and off like a strobe light. Luckily, I purchased an extended warranty from the vendor, as each time this was replaced it was $750+ to repair. When I complained to Dacor on their support line, the representative actually told me that I was running the oven too hot!

About 6 months ago, I sold the house and left the very expensive range behind. It was problematic from day one. Other repairs included replacing the ignitors. After a year of use, the insulation on the door came loose and was hanging in plain view through the window on the door. Every repairman that came to service the range said the same thing.... that they repair a lot of Dacors. When it worked, it was a great range. If you do buy a Dacor, do yourself a favor, buy the extended warranty. You will need it and it will pay for itself.

We purchased our range (Dacor Dual Fuel Range RSD30) in about 1997 thinking we had a good investment. We have replaced the bezel 5 times (the area that encloses the control area). Today the door glass has cracked. Whooppee! Merry Christmas! Each time I called about the bezel, I was told that they had a design flaw. The last time we had to replace the bezel and also pay for installation ourselves. We decided if this happened again, we would get rid of it. Well, it will be sooner than later as the oven glass has cracked. Needless to say, we are not return customers.

We just purchased our home in March of this year. The previous homeowner purchased a Dacor oven; it is electric & propane. She purchased the appliance after a complete home renovation in 2008. They lived in the home. After 1 year, they moved out and had it on the market. We purchased the home in 2012. As soon as we moved in, we noticed the oven was not working. We called an appliance repairman - $564.00 service call and part for a new relay switch. It was great; the oven worked. Not even a day later, an F1 error. We called them back out thinking they must have done something incorrectly. They then said we needed a new control panel. We did not have an additional $400.00. We just moved, so he said you could still use the oven. We did. We would use it and flip the breaker off so we did not have to hear the annoying beeping sound.

Then I came home and bam - no display, no oven. We called a different Dacor certified appliance guy thinking the first company was just taking us for a ride and it was their fault. $572.00 later, we got a new control panel, but guess what, the technician did not even make it to his truck before beep, beep, F1. He came back in and then said we needed to replace the display screen - an additional $217.00 with no labor charge. We told the man to shove it. I had every plan of taking the oven to our back tank and using it for target practice. But in good business practice, since this company already invested $572.00, we could not ask them to eat the money, so we allowed a third fix of the oven. While the technician was here, the oven made a horrible loud sound and shot out flames. He insisted maybe it was due to it sitting for a week without use. He left.

I never noticed this flame before when the oven worked despite the F1 beeping. Now it’s hit and miss. Some days it will shoot out a flame once until it reaches 200+ degrees and then you can hear the fan kick in. Some days, twice, I have had it happen 3 times. If my children were to open the door during this event, I am sure they would be seriously burned. At first I was thinking maybe it is normal for this oven to shoot out flames during preheat mode since after $1300.00 repairs maybe it is just not functioning correctly. But if it were a normal function of the product, to me it would do it every time consistently and not three times, or two times on some occasions.

I hate to admit this but I am almost fearful of using my oven. I currently have a pie to put in for dinner and I’m thinking it's 3:09 pm; I could set the oven to preheat while I run to get my kids from school so if it decides to blow up, I am not home and that is pretty sad. The last repairman we had come out said in his personal opinion, he wouldn’t have repaired the oven, because they are known for issues, and he would have gone to Lowes and spent $300.00 on any off brand stove first. We have considered that, but this stove is extra-wide and the cabinetry is built around it. So for us to purchase an oven to slide right back in it would be another $1300.00-$2000.00.

We have issues with the burners not always wanting to light. I almost caught on fire lighting one because it shot out flames when it decided to finally ignite. Sometimes it just clicks. Currently, I am down to two burners when just two days ago all six were working just fine. Over Thanksgiving, it took no kidding 1-hour to cook brown and serve rolls because the oven did not reach the set temperature. We stuck my husband’s bbq thermometer to see. It was 256 degrees, not the desired 350 degrees. Does this stove have warranty? We have no clue as the previous homeowner purchased the stove. She claims to have spent $5,000.00 on this stove or more during their purchase. We do not have warranty on our home so for each repair, it is out of pocket for us, and currently we really are thinking any knock off brand at Lowes would be a better product than a Dacor oven and less of a safety hazard for our family.

Poor design of model RV36R raised vent control board - I repaired the control board (marked 2598) by replacing a burned out resistor and what I believe is a thyristor - also burned out. It was burned out so badly that there was soot on the metal back plate behind the board. I believe that this board has been poorly designed with components not well suited to the load they are designed to control. My degree is in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, so I believe that I am qualified to make these comments. I also abhor the efforts of the designer, who saw fit to hide the control board behind a connector bridge which connects the 110v incoming AC to the board as well as the board output to the cables which go to the fan.

I would like designers like this to come and do the repairs and de-installation/re-installation of the 2598 board. In my opinion, Dacor should be ashamed of this expensive device's electronic control board and the rough cut sheet metal where the edge by the board is unfinished and nearly as sharp as a razor. Image 5375 shows new higher power 55 ohm resistor and thyristor hidden behind heat sink I added for cooling. Image 5377 shows complete board with connector bridge mounted over it. Yuck! Image 5379 shows the, ahem, made with pride label. What a shame about the design!

We purchased our home brand new in August 2006. The house was built and the appliances installed (but never used) in 2003. One of the things that sold us on the house was the kitchen being comprised of all high-end Dacor appliances (double convection oven, cooktop, dishwasher, and built-in microwave). Our excitement quickly turned to frustration. The first problems began with the dishwasher, which after several attempts at repair (circuit board) was begrudgingly replaced by Dacor, with “begrudgingly” being the key word. I have always found Dacor customer service to be rude and dismissive - with the only way that I ever received a satisfactory outcome, being via threats of contacting the BBB and Missouri Attorney General.

About a year after receiving the replacement dishwasher, the internal racks began rusting badly. Once again, I called customer service who originally wanted to sell me new racks at a discount. Only after another persistent round of explaining that high-end dishwasher racks should be made from a material that doesn't rust, complaining and threatening, did I receive new racks free of charge. I was also informed that they had changed rack manufacturers and that would eliminate the rusting problem. Wrong. It has now been another couple of years, and the new racks are rusted worse than the previous ones. That is just the dishwasher.

Our Dacor microwave display began slowly losing its LED display about 2 years ago. Lately, the microwave interior lining is beginning to disintegrate and rust through. One of the burners on our gas cooktop makes a constant popping noise when lit. The top half of our double convection oven no longer heats beyond 250 degrees. I realize that our appliances are now significantly beyond their warranty period, so I am no longer even attempting a resolution through Dacor. I will most likely ride these appliances into their graves and replace them with another brand. I am writing this mainly to alert others about my experiences with what I believe to be Dacor's total lack of quality at a premium price. In my opinion, Dacor is all style and no substance.

I recently complained about my Dacor dishwasher that would stop running during the cycle because of a faulty circuit board and touch pad. The repair would have cost me $500.00 to replace the entire touch pad and circuit board and the Customer Service department was not in the least helpful or concerned. After making the complaint on this site, I received an email the next day from James who was very nice and asked for the model, serial number of my dishwasher and who was the repair company I used. I emailed the information back to him and after verifying my information, he informed me that the parts would be shipped to my house at no cost and I would only have to pay for the service call! Now that was great service from a company who is trying to make good for a bad item in their appliance line. My repair person told me that Dacor is now using a different manufacturer for their dishwasher so hopefully it will be a better product.

I have been very disappointed in the reliability of our Dacor refrigerator, model EF42BDCBSS, purchased in 2007. The first circuit board went out in 2008 within 6 months of the initial purchase. A replacement part could not be located. It was still under warranty so they replaced the whole unit. In 2010, we had to have another repair to regulate the temperature of the freezer. Last week (October 2012), the circuit board went out again! Even though the unit itself is less than five years old, it is no longer under warranty. Dacor goes by the original installation date. I contacted Dacor and spoke with LS who basically stated that all they could offer was a discount on the part. This repair is costing us over $650, not including the loss of food.

We paid to have the part second day. When we called back the next day to get a tracking number for the shipment of the part, we were told by another representative that the part had not shipped because it was out of stock in the default warehouse. He was able to locate it in another warehouse and get it shipped the same day. I called LS back and she stated that she never promised when it would ship, but when it did, it would go second day. I would not expect this type of repair cost and attitude on a refrigerator that was over $9,000 when new. Now, I am concerned with the liability of our range and microwave, which are of the same Dacor brand. The main reason I took the time to write this email is to make retailers aware of the situation and ask that you seriously look at the reputation of the Dacor appliance line and decide if you really want to promote this product to your customers. Dacor could care less about their customers and/or reputation.

When Dacor was recently contacted, the concern was regarding warranty coverage, as there are specific parts of the refrigerator that carry varied warranty periods. Once it was deteremined that the parts required were no longer in warranty, Dacor did assist by reducing the overall cost of repair for you, by a significant amount. Most of my life, I've always bought pretty low end appliances, and they've always worked pretty well. When we remodelled our kitchen, we decided to go with a high end Dacor stove, and it's been nothing but trouble. After just a few weeks, the igniters started to fire constantly on some burners. It was still under warranty, but it was very hard to find someone to honor the warranty. We got that fixed, then the oven light started to come on and off randomly. After our experience with the first problem, we just disconnected the light and let it go. A few months later, the bottom shelf jammed, and there was no way to collapse it to fit in the oven. This product is total junk. Don't buy it!

I purchased a Dacor Double Oven 5 years ago. It is a beautiful design, but unfortunately a piece of junk. Over the 5 years I have had the oven, I have had service technicians repair the oven on 7 different occasions. Unfortunately, my oven is not out of warranty and has failed once again. Today was my 8th attempt at service and the service technician could not get the oven working. I have called Dacor, pleading with them to stand behind their product and to replace this useless piece of equipment. I continue to get L22 error codes, and the main circuit board had been replaced twice. After persistently calling Dacor’s customer service, they finally said they would sell me a new oven at a discounted price to the tune of $4800 plus tax, shipping and installation. I ask myself, why would I want to buy another piece of junk? If Dacor won't stand behind their products, perhaps someone should initiate a class action suit against them.

When I called Dacor to complain, they were very uncaring and said I should call a "parts distributor" to check on the price I was quoted for replacement parts because the price seems too "expensive"! The price was actually more expensive at the parts distributor but it made no difference to Dacor as he just replied, "Well, I guess you really are getting a good price!" $450 does not seem like a good price to me as I would rather get a new dishwasher rather than go through this again. My dishwasher only works if I hold my knee in the middle of the door or put a chair up to the front of the door! The electronics in this dishwasher is a piece of junk. Most major manufacturers are faced with this same dilema. It is often forgotten that the electronic components that make up these new appliances are more similarly compared to computer parts, rather then the appliance parts of old.
In an effort to offer our customers the most when it comes to features, new technology, and better reliability it is possible that older electronic boards become no longer available. There are companies that dedicate themselves to rebuilding older appliance boards and they offer their services for many large appliance brands, not just Dacor. Dacor does have a commitment to keeping parts available for as long as possible.
After we have exhausted all other possible options and avenues for repair, Dacor is more then willing to stretch beyond our normal procedures and help you come up with a long term solution.

If you would like some time to think about whether or not transitioning to a current product would be the best option for you, we ask that you at least take a look on our website to see the current models and what they have to offer. Dacor prides itself on the ability to give our customers options, whether they are currently covered under warranty or not.
In a situation like this, where the oven does not seem to get to temperature, we are still able to review the installation specifications (to make sure that the unit is being provided adequate power) and go over some specific baking results to see what recommendations we are able to give to help you achieve the best results from your wall oven. If the baking results are not as Dacor would expect, there are other measures that we can assist you through, that will and can be done all before having to call for service and incur further cost to you. One simple adjustment that can be made by our customers is following the instructions in your use and care manual to adjust the temperature up or down.

The replacement parts arrived in a timely manner and the oven has worked perfectly since. The cooktop is easy to clean and the heat is even. The downdraft fan is effective and easy to clean. I would be confident to recommend Dacor products.

Dacor 48" dual fuel range - Only 3 years ago, we purchased a Dacor range that is beautiful and worked great for 2 1/2 years. During the last six months, I had the led lights go out on some of my cooktop knobs and my oven has started not baking evenly, much as described in a previous post (half of your cookies can be burnt and the other half dough). A serviceman has been out twice and I have been made to feel that basically, I don't know how to use this oven or don't know how to cook. Funny that has only been in the last 6 months. I cooked great with the range for 2 1/2 years and have 20 years of cooking experience, but obviously, I don't know what I'm talking about. To replace a led light bulb, I had to purchase a $300 control board part (that Dacor did discount) plus a $100 labor. It ended up being a $250 light bulb fix that has exploded to a potentially additional $600 problem.

When taking off the range lid to replace the lights, I am now told that 3-4 burners have to be completely replaced and this again is my fault somehow because the metals fuse together and that is known by Dacor to happen, but my service tech said it's because I don't clean my range well enough. This still makes no sense. And to fix the oven problem, it might be the control board? Let's throw my money at it and see? All guessing, the serviceman, Dacor, etc.! So now I'm stuck with a parts bill of over $1,000 (Dacor did discount this to about $300) plus $200+ in labor, another guess. This just seems ridiculous to change a light bulb and guess at an oven fix for a 3-year old range that cost as much as a car! I'm so irate over the whole issue! What a mistake Dacor was.

I bought my Dacor range (which cost more than almost all the ranges I looked at) for three reasons: I needed a range that would fit an existing space in my kitchen; I wanted a range that didn't have knobs, burners, etc. that would be hard to clean; and I wanted a true convection oven. The Dacor was the only range that filled my needs. When I bought the range, there was a dealer in a nearby town. (We are about 50 miles northeast of Dallas, TX.) It was not a perfect fit, and at the time, we had to pay a cabinet man extra to have it installed. The first reason I am dissatisfied was that the oven did not perform any better than any other oven that I have used. Secondly, when I needed repairs, I have always paid a premium amount for the repairman to come out from Dallas. (The place where I bought it had gone out of business almost immediately.)

The straw that broke this camel's back was this week when I called the repair company and was told that mileage and a service call would be in excess of $300.00, to start with, then there would be the parts. And if he made two trips due to not having the parts with him, I assume I would again pay the $300.00. I would probably end up paying around $1000.00 or even maybe more! I ask you, does that sound like they want my business? I called Dacor who gave me a name of a firm that might be a few miles closer. I called this company twice in three days and left a message on the answering machine. I haven't heard from them yet. I called Dacor a second time and got nothing! I will never buy Dacor; I will never recommend Dacor and I will do everything possible to tell the world, "Don't buy Dacor."

Apparently, it is a problem with their cooktops. I guess I should have researched more, but I fell in love with the looks. We will see what happens. I will stay away from Dacor because this should not happen after one month of use.

We moved into our home in 2009 and have had nothing but problems with our Dacor refrigerator (Dacor Model EF48DCBSS). Our issue now is the drain pan heater again. This problem is, water that collects in the drain pan freezes and eventually builds up to a point where the fan motor starts hitting it, sounding like a helicopter landing in your kitchen! We had a problem with this about 7 months ago, had to pay for the part, and pay for the technician to repair the refrigerator. Clearly this is a design issue and Dacor needs to step up and come up with a resolution for this problem or keep fixing annually for free.

I contacted Dacor to get some response to the poor design and got no response. Now the unit won't chill and I have just paid a repairman $162 to tell me it is not repairable because the unit has a leak in the refrigeration system and it is within a foamed in area of the system. So after only 5 years, I am replacing my wine fridge, not what I would have expected from a brand that touts itself as being high end. I am very dissatisfied with Dacor and certainly will not be purchasing anything of that brand again.

Now it is happening all the time. I called customer service and they seemed to act like it is my fault and I need a new touch pad. I inquired and this is a recurring problem with this model. I could not get a straight answer from the person I was talking to. He just told me that if the repairman says I need a new touch pad, then I need to get one. Well I have been doing some research and this is a problem that seems to be haunting more people than I. We own a Dacor gas cooktop that has had to have a switch repaired. We own a microwave that has had two new circuit boards and now a beeping oven that gives no error code and turns off by itself. My advice, do not buy Dacor appliances.

Currently, we have been without a visit from the techs in two weeks (our longest stretch since moving in) and the refrigerator is leaking from the ice dispenser and making a motorized noise so loud. They did give me an explanation as to why this was happening - the hinges on the door wear out and the door doesn't shut properly so that heat escapes. Dacor came through! They sent me, at no charge,a replacement part. This new part is supposed to fix the issue of ice cycles in the freezer. It's a new drainage system that actually heats the water in the pan so it does not freeze up causing the water to back up. I am hopeful that this will permanently fix the issue! But props to Dacor for stepping up to the plate to fix this! Thanks, guys!

I bought my Dacor refrigerator about 5 years ago. I just had my 3rd service call on it. Every 6 months, I am getting ice cycles in my freezer! Dacor puts their condensing unit at the top of the freezer. It freezes up and the water starts to overflow into the freezer. It is a pain! I am now being told that I need to pay almost $500 to install a "heater" on the line to make sure it does not freeze up again. After three service calls to fix the same issue, I am not sure I want to spend the money. I’m considering buying a new refrigerator! I’m disappointed that Dacor does not offer a fix at no cost! It is a design problem that I have to pay for. Stay away!

In 2008 I had the luxury of choosing kitchen appliances for our new home. I looked at them all and felt Dacor was the best choice. Choosing Dacor for our kitchen was the worst mistake I have made in kitchen appliances in any house in which I have lived (and there have been quite a few). The oven (48" dual fuel range) didn't work from day one. There was a problem with the temperature control. The oven would not shut off when it reached the desired temperature. Disappointing, but I told myself that sometimes things can go wrong and it should be an easy fix. Well, many service calls later and several re-wires of the unit, along with the installation of many new parts, the range still does not perform as well as the worst oven I have ever had.

There is a tool that comes with the range that is used for taking the top off the unit to access the wires. My range was taken apart so many times that the tool wore out and had to be replaced. The front piece of the range no longer fits flush with the rest of the range. On one of our last service calls, I was told by the serviceman that Dacor said that under no circumstances would they consider replacement of my obviously faulty, beyond repair range. Eventually I got tired of repeated service calls. Sometimes servicemen would come out and say they didn't know how to fix it and leave. I would not expect such poor customer service from an entry level company. From a company touting themselves as a manufacturer of top of the line products, I would expect a greater desire to stand behind their products.

The oven still does not work well. On convection bake, I must turn cookie sheets around or I will have doughy cookies on the same sheet as burned cookies. And forget using the convection setting to bake 2 sheets of cookies at once - it takes longer than baking them separately. I wish I could attach a picture! I also chose a Dacor microwave and refrigerator. One of the salesmen I spoke with about refrigerators said to make sure the unit we select did not have air transfer between the refrigerator and freezer, and the Dacor model did not do this. Well, when my 48" side-by-side arrived, it had the air transfer. I was disappointed but chose to live with it. Of greater concern to me is the noise the unit makes at times - sometimes loud enough I can hear it in other rooms of the house. I have not bothered to call for service. I'm not interested in another fight to get Dacor to stand behind their poor quality overpriced products.

At this point, I have no expectation of Dacor standing behind their products. I just want to share my experience with others who may be in the same situation I was - designing their dream kitchen - and save them the regret and continual disappointment in their Dacor products.

I have a 5-burner Dacor cooktop in my kitchen. It was installed in the spring of 2006. Within two years of its installation, knobs started breaking off. They would simply snap off in my hand. The plastic tube that goes over the metal point melts and cracks. In my opinion, this is a serious design flaw. Over the years, all of the knobs have broken and many have been replaced more than once.

I called customer service last month to try to see if Dacor could provide me with better made and designed knobs. The person I spoke to (a male, didn't get his name) was very rude. He told me that Dacor had no record of having problems with its knobs; that the company wouldn't be concerned with something on the cooktop that was merely cosmetic, and; that it was an old appliance (6 years old) - therefore, problems were to be expected.

I asked to speak to someone else in customer service and was put on hold for a long time. I finally hung up, although the rep did eventually call me back. He said that the manager he spoke to said that there was a history of knob problems and that they would sell me 5 new knobs at a reduced price. So, I went ahead and ordered five new knobs. Imagine my surprise when the new knobs arrived and they were exactly the same as all the other knobs I have tried. I have no hope of Dacor remedying this problem, but if I ever redo another kitchen, I will certainly not choose a Dacor appliance.

I made an appointment to tour the Dacor showroom and was blown away by the aesthetics and advertised performance of their line. I made the decision to fill my kitchen with Dacor products: dishwasher (ED24SCH), dual range (ER48DSCH), range hood (EH4818SCH), fridge, and microwave (DMT2420). To date, the fridge is the only appliance that has not malfunctioned. Within the first month, the microwave blew a fuse (covered by warranty). Within the first 6 months, the dishwasher's motherboard blew (also covered by warranty).

Since the 1-year warranties have expired, the range hood's electrical unit malfunctioned and ceased working properly ($400-plus in repair). The motherboard on the dishwasher has gone out twice ($1200-plus). The dishwasher rack has completely rusted and the wheels have fallen off ($800 to replace). The lights on my oven dial is out and the glass bottom inside the oven that covers the heating element has cracked (nothing has been spilled or dropped). In fact, I only use that side for Thanksgiving. I am extremely bummed (to say the least) and I feel that the products that I was sold do not live up to the quality level that they advertise. Additionally, the replacement parts are obscenely expensive, and at this time it makes more sense to replace the units rather than dump more money into a pit.

I purchased a Dacor range hood 3 years ago. I had an intermittent problem from the start, as one of the two lights would intermittently go off. Replacing the bulbs didn't fix it. As one light worked perfectly, it became a tolerable issue. Finally, I was having other electrical work done in our home & I asked my electrician to look at it two weeks ago. He figured out that it was a defective lamp housing that incorrectly held the lamp bulb. Dacor shipped me a replacement lamp housing for me at no charge. I installed it this last weekend and it is running fine. Thanks, Dacor!

The Dacor dishwasher had problems engaging and activating the cycle. We finally had enough and purchased a Bosch dishwasher even though the rest of our kitchen is Dacor. The new Dacor was $1600+ and the reviews on all their dishwashers since 2007 are one out of five stars. Dacor knows there is a problem and won't rectify it with the consumer. An amiable young man called from Dacor. He stated he would help me on any future problem with the other appliances. Why irritate the ** out of Dacor consumers when your company has had a history of irate consumers, specifically regarding the dishwasher. This certainly doesn't increase sales and only angers the base.

We placed the new Dacor appliances that we’ve purchased in our second home in Big Bear Lake, California. The fact is we were in our second home approximately 10 times in the first two years. We had trouble with our Dacor dishwasher from the beginning. When you close the door, it wouldn't engage unless you close the door a number of times. It became progressively worse to the point where we brought out another repairperson - this time a certified Dacor repairperson. He got the washer going for a few minutes, only to not being able to complete a full cycle. We received an initial $89.95 bill, and during another contact we would have to pay an additional $400-plus for a motherboard and labor. We contacted Dacor, along with the contractor, a number of times. We had the history of this dishwasher which is causing problems.

Dacor would not make it good, even though we spent more than $10,000 on other Dacor kitchen products. It simply doesn't make sense to me to not fix a sub-par dishwasher to keep a customer happy. Now, we are angry and will go on a number of sites to advertise our plight. We will install a new Bosch dishwasher as we have no confidence in Dacor and even less in their customer relations division.

Dacor Renaissance Wall Oven - I turned my oven to 275 degrees to slow roast a pork and a few hours later, opening the oven door, smoke was billowing out. My oven was screaming hot, as in 800 degrees, as in this Dacor oven of mine was attempting to self-clean my roast pork. This very thing happened about one year and one week after purchase, you know, wherein I call Dacor and they tell me, "Oopsy, past the one year warranty, oopsy." After many phone calls, etc, etc, a nice guy from Dacor named Jonathan calls and they fixed the oven.

Now, here we are again! Exact same problem - rev. 2. On the phone with the very nice man, James, I am told that, "Well, we really have to take each instance by itself," when I have explained that this self incinerating performance has occurred now for the third time. And further, my neighbor has the exact, the exact, same Dacor oven and they had a repairman at their house last week for the exact same problem. Obviously, something went seriously wrong in the manufacturing of this Dacor oven - obviously. And you would think that obviously Dacor would strive to make it right by the consumer. No. They will send me the parts. Terrific. I have to hire the repairman, pay for him to show up at my front door, pay for him to do the work while the clock ticks at 15 minute interval payment.

I have spent $650 in service alone, which is separate from the cost of parts. There’s no help from customer service; in fact, the rep was downright rude. Follow-up to March 31 posting: In 2001, we installed two Dacor wall ovens and a gas (converted to propane) cook top. The cook top has been problem free and the brushed stainless steel surface still looks like new. Both ovens however, at that time, were problematic during the two year-warranty period. Knowledgeable service people were hard to come by in our region. After numerous service calls, Dacor replaced one of my wall ovens at or around the three-year mark (outside of the warranty period). That particular unit had only one minor issue since then and Dacor replaced the appropriate part free of charge. The other original unit has been problematic since the beginning. The latest problem being the internal light going on/off for no reason and then a lack of response to light button on the front control panel.

Long story short, I posted my frustration here on March 31 and was contacted by a Dacor rep within two days. He asked me for detailed info on the problem and located the unit in their files. Some of the past repairs were known to Dacor, but others were not since we just did them ourselves. I was asked to send a detailed description of the current issue along with pictures, which I did. Based on Dacor's analysis or the pictures and the exhibited problem, they sent me, free of charge, a control panel membrane, a door gasket and a set of door hinges. We installed these items and the unit is now in full working order.

In looking back over the past years of problems with this particular unit, it's clear to me the issues all stemmed from an original broken door hinge. It was compounded by the fact that the service and repair folks at the time considered the door gap to be within tolerance and we did not discover the broken hinge until the door glass shattered and we needed to replace it, which required removing the door. Anyway, at this stage in the game, I am very pleased with Dacor's response. It is my impression that they are trying much, much harder to stand behind their products. So, while just a short time ago I would have never considered another Dacor product, when the time comes, they would still be on my list of considered vendors because when these ovens work, they work great.

Regarding my previous complaint on 3/21/12, I had a Dacor fridge, model #EF42BDCBSS, installed in my brand new kitchen in March 2008 (I've a kitchen full of Dacor). It subsequently had a problem with the drip pan in March 2009 and was fixed on warranty. Come March 2012, the fridge was again diagnosed with the same problem. The technician told me there had been a design problem, but after three re-designs, it was remedied and should have no further problems once the new part was installed. The bill, $658 and more than half, was for the part! Of course, I was livid because the fridge had been fixed in 2009 and was now off warranty.

When I expressed myself originally, I was simply venting about the price of the repair without hope of a remedy. James at Dacor customer service called me promptly that next morning and left a message! We subsequently talked and he immediately got in touch with my local appliance service center. He not only worked out with them refunding my deposit for the part but also ordered two other parts that were necessary in order to fix the problem.

The outcome? They fixed my fridge at no charge to me for parts or labor, and all I had to pay was the original trip and diagnosis charge. I can't begin to tell you how extremely happy and grateful I am about this. We've had them fix the electronic panel at huge expense, and are not going to call them again. When the back burners stop working, we'll get another unit. In August 2001, we purchased two Dacor 30 inch wall ovens. It has been a decade of problems. Here is what we have experienced: Just this morning, one oven is yet again going through the cycling light problem. This is where the internal light turns on and off at random and there is no response to the button on the panel. A brief history of issues since we've owned these units: At the time of our purchase, Dacor was still offering a two-year warranty. During the warranty period, one oven would send steam out through the lower vents whenever there was any liquid in what was being cooked. This in turn would condense on the panel which then sent the oven into a number of different failure modes. This unit had at least three different control panels installed. After battling with continued problems and many, many, many calls to Dacor, they agreed to replace the steaming unit at the three-year mark.

So, to Dacor's credit, they did resolve the problem. However, both ovens are installed under counters. Any water which gets onto the top of the control panel will cause a failure mode. We'd have to turn off the breaker and let the panel dry out for 48 hrs. Over the course of the many panel replacements, there seems to be an improvement in the moisture seal and the panel was less sensitive. One unit had the front glass panel fracture. When I called Dacor, they said this was due to grease splattering during the broil cycle. Huh? When I ordered the replacement part at a local parts dealer, they sort of chuckled and said that this was a common problem with Dacor ovens and that they rarely ever had to get replacement glass for other brands.

I'm luckier than most in that my husband can fix just about everything. He has resoldered several of the motherboards for these units. He's replaced door hinges and also installed the new door glass. I have no idea what the service calls would have amounted to, but the control panels, membranes, door glass, door hinges have been pricey. Anyway, as I sit here, my oven light is cycling on/off at random and hubby will once again be required to repair these very expensive units. One unit has a door which has never closed properly. Luckily, my 15-year old KitchenAid fridge and 11-year old Miele dishwasher are rock solid. Never, ever, ever again will I purchase a Dacor appliance.

This only happens on the front 2 burners (the back 3 are fine). We have cleaned the unit and cleaned the igniters over and over. We have had 2 authorized Dacor service companies and another company look at our unit. Two said no fix exists; the other replaced a part after talking to Dacor and that did not fix it. When I called Dacor, they noted to get another service company and call them when they are here. I am concerned that this again will not work and I will have to pay another service fee.

When they were here I asked them to replace a light in our double oven, but they noted they would have to remove the oven from the wall to do that and it would be costly, to which I said no thanks. Is it true that the oven has to be removed to replace a light? Another issue is that our double wall oven’s upper unit only gets warm to about 200 degrees. Another issue is that the microwave door open button does not move the door, we have to push it and pull the door open by hand. I have turned to Dacor service and to our local service techs and we are at our wits’ end. Any help here?

I paid over $6000.00 for a Dacor EF48BNDBSS refrigerator and have had nothing but problems with this item and the other Dacor item (dishwasher) that I bought when I had a new kitchen built for my new life of retirement. The first refrigerator that was delivered did not work when it was installed and was returned immediately. I had to wait for Dacor to send another one and I have had to pay several service calls each time since that point. I am disgusted that I paid over $10,000 on two appliances from Dacor and neither of them has ever worked even at a low grade basic level. Both of my items have been discontinued and Dacor reimbursed me for half of what I paid for the dishwasher, which did not even cover all of the repair calls that I had paid for ongoing service. At that dealing, I got tired of paying for repair calls for the refrigerator due to excessive icing in the freezer; supposedly there was a quick fix right after I had the unit installed and it did not fix the issue. Now, there is another quick fix that Dacor suggests and that will cost me $800. Really? I don't think so.

In fact, I have researched this issue and have found that this "quick fix" does not solve the problem either. In addition, I have called Dacor numerous times about the refrigerator door not sealing and the refrigerator making all kinds of strange noises. They told me it was the seal, so I had the seal replaced and that was not the issue. Then I paid $235.00 for a service call to look at the seal and he said that this refrigerator has known problems for hinge issues and he attempted to fix the hinge and left and the problem continued. Between the hinge issues, the constant icing issues in the freezer and the food icing over as well along with the trays and inner shelving of the freezer, the refrigerator sealing and the hinges working, and the constant crazy noises that the refrigerator makes, I am ready to file a lawsuit for a "lemon" of a product.

This is the second product that has recall issues and multiple problems. I am sure that with my documentation, a judge would have no problem agreeing that I have paid way too much and put in way too much time and energy into getting a decent appliance into my kitchen. I would never recommend Dacor to anyone. I am dissatisfied and refuse to pay another penny for service calls on these appliances that were installed in 08/2012. At this point, my refrigerator is unplugged and unusable and I am using a small refrigerator that I bought at Costco for $300.00 thirteen years ago that has never had one problem.

I had a "Dacor" Fridge, model #EF42BDCBSS, installed by Kiva Kitchen & Bath in my brand new kitchen in March 2008. At the beginning of March 2009, it began to have a problem. So on 3/6/2009, we had an authorized Dacor rep come out to diagnose it. He said it was the drip pan so he installed the new part and said it was fixed. It was on warranty at the time.

Over the past few weeks (again in March), the fridge began to make a lot of noise when the doors were shut. I called our local appliance store and they tell me it is the drip pan and it is in need of the same exact part. He said that this has been a problem with these fridges and that this has been redesigned about three times. He tells me that this time the problem should be fixed. Dacor charges $355 for "just" the part (plus tax) and with the tech service it makes the total $658.

Of course, I'm extremely angry since this is the same, exact problem that was supposedly fixed while my fridge was on warranty. The cost is ridiculous and I'm angry that it appears to be a problem that should have warranted a recall notice by Dacor.

I bought the refrigerator less than a year for over $4,000 and the vegetable drawer chipped. When I called Dacor, I was told that it was a cosmetic issue and was given a number to call and order the part. For a refrigerator less than a year and costing that much, I thought it should fall under its warranty. Another issue is the ice maker. It won't dispense ice and I have to always pull the ice bin and put it back in. The Dacor customer service said that it's because air gets into the ice bin when I dispense ice and that's the solution. Once again, for such an expensive refrigerator under 1 year old, I would think customer service would be more customer oriented. Never again!

In 2001, I bought a Dacor dual range stove. I paid over $2000. My problem is that there is a defect in the product; when you use the self-cleaning, the outside of the stove cracks up. Dacor has replaced this three times and each time it cracks again. I spoke with them about a year ago and because I didn't continue the warranty, they wouldn't replace it. I carry a home warranty.

My stove looks like it came from the junkyard. I understand them not repairing a physical problem with the stove but the outside is crumbling because of a defect in their product. If you don't clean the oven, then you get an error and the only way to get it off is to clean but all that dose causes the outside to crack up more. It pains me to think of buying a new range when I thought I had done my homework, when I choose Dacor. I hope this isn't too late, but it pains me to think after another cleaning I may be forced to buy another stove.

I first bought the low-end Dacor dual fuel range and overhead microwave oven. Within the time frame of 3 years, repairs to the stove cost over $2,500. The stove cost $1,800. Ever single piece of plastic on the stove cracked and had to be replaced multiple times. The microwave's handle cracked 6 times, twice in one week. The overhead trim, which is about 30" by 6" and heavy, fell off and hit me in the head while I was frying bacon. If it had hit the pan of hot grease, I would have been burned.

I contacted Dacor and got the brush off. I contacted "Fight Back" with David Horowitz about the problem. Dacor called me back, bowing and scraping, and we came to an agreement that they would take back the stove and microwave and put the full cost towards an upgrade to their high end model.

I am sure you think I was stupid but the stove cooked beautifully and I thought a stove with no plastic trim pieces would solve the problem. Wrong! The microwave control panel has gone out twice, each repair costing around $350. The handle broke 4 times but that was covered under warranty. The front control panel has died 3 times (another $350 each time). The broiler dies each time the self-clean is used and that has been fixed 3 or 4 times. Some computer board on the top of the stove has died (another $400). The enamel lining inside has cracked, crazed, chipped off and rusted. Now, the front control panel has died and so has the one on the microwave.

Times are very tough for us now and I can't afford to get them fixed. I noticed that the front panel trim on the top of the microwave is starting to pop out again (plastic fatigue). Hopefully, it will fall off again while I am cooking and hit me in the head and knock some sense into me. If it does happen, I will take them to court.

Now, the same F1 error after the new membrane is only 13 and 1/2 months in service and it is now out of warranty. Customer service people are rude and unhelpful but when pressed, they said they might be willing to help after a service tech, which I have to pay for, diagnoses the problem.

Even the Sears store people advise their customers not to buy Dacor products and that is sad because it is one of only 2 American made options. Dacor needs to step up their product engineering, commitment to quality and get rid of the rude phone people in Customer 'No' Service. This is not the end of this experience but the only reason I am not junking the stove is because a comparable replacement is another 3000 bucks from another vendor which I cannot afford at this time.

The irony of this is that the company clearly knows they have problems but when I asked if the replacement parts had been improved so the problems won't persist, I was told that no changes or modifications to the electronic brains had been made. How stupid is that! They are just asking for more problems with the parts they send you to fix what does not work.

We hardly ever use the oven because my husband barbeques every night. In less than 5 years, a piece of the plastic front control panel fell off. In early 2008 the self cleaning function broke (error F2). I called Dacor and they referred me to a repair service. It was going to cost almost $500 to repair so, given that we use the oven so little, I decided not to spend the money on an oven that was falling apart.

Now within the last two years the plastic control panel is cracked across the front and more pieces are starting to fall off. Now the clock and the timer have stopped working. I called Dacor again today and was told that the seals and hinges on the oven are probably bad, which is contributing to the problem. The customer service person was rude and unhelpful. He said it was not unusual for a ten year old oven to break. He gave me contact information for a parts dealer and two repair services. I bought this oven believing it was a high quality and I expected them to stand behind their product. What can you do to help me?

The "+" button will not respond to touch. Called Dacor and was told that the needed part number was discontinued in 2009. I double-checked with a distribution center in San Antonio, TX, who confirmed that the part is no longer available. They referred me back to Dacor on the chance that Dacor would have one somewhere. Dacor's suggested solution was that we need to buy an updated completely new oven, which would cost us several more thousand dollars. So here we sit with a perfectly good oven minus a touchpad to control it correctly. So much for buying reliable, U.S. made products and receiving good service. I thought there existed a federal law that mandates a company must make parts available for 10 years if they discontinue the product?

I would have to get a repairman to come to my house. This cost me a fortune. For one year, I just used the bottom oven. I finally called Dacor, and complained. I wrote a letter to Mr. **, and wanted satisfaction. They decided that I could purchase a new, better oven for $1,480.00. This was 1998, so in 6 years, I spent $3,680.00 for 2 ovens. After 5 years, I started having the same problems.

Every time I used the self-cleaning function, F0 would appear. I just totaled my bills for the new, better oven, and I have spent $963.00 and it would be more, but I figured out, if I pressed cancel and held it, the F0 would disappear. So every time I used the oven, that is what I did. This would last for 8 months. The oven completely shut down, and I could not use the top or bottom. I just had a repairman here, and he said i need a new membrane assembly, and latch. They were supposed to call me with an estimate. They just called, and said the part is no longer available. This is upsetting. Reading the reviews, I see I am not alone in my dissatisfaction with the Dacor oven. Now, I will be redoing my kitchen.

As a contractor, we were fortunate enough to build our dream home which was completed in 2005. After much research and many show room visits, we purchased Dacor appliances for our kitchen. As the saying goes, if I knew then what I know now. Our biggest (note I said biggest, not only) issue is with our ESC130 oven. If you own this oven, do not, repeat, do not, use the self-cleaning mechanism. I have had this repaired once and then replaced once (along with a relay board). I seldom use this because I know when I do the lock mechanism will continue to cycle until it is replaced. This means, while I can still use my oven, I have to time when I open the door based on when the lock is cycling in the unlock position. I must also turn the oven off at the circuit breaker or listen to the continuous warning beep that the lock is cycling (as if I didn't know).

After repairing this feature once, I next choose to have the mechanism replaced and Dacor offered me a discount on the parts (the oven was and still is out of warranty) at a cost of more than $500.00. This is on top of what I had already paid to have it repaired just 18 months earlier. I feared using this feature again as I didn't want a repeat performance. After cooking macaroni and cheese yesterday, I felt I really needed to clean the oven and made the mistake of using the self-cleaning feature of the oven. I don't know why I was surprised when the locking mechanism refused to stop cycling.

I contacted Dacor today only to speak with the rudest customer service representative I have ever encountered, Steven. No last name. He is the only Steven who works there. He refused to listen to me, spoke over me when I did try to talk, and did not allow me to speak with anyone else. There are no supervisors available on Fridays and he could not transfer me anywhere. I left a message for someone else to call me (they did not). I called back later that afternoon and was given the name of a supervisor, Nhi. She was not available and I spoke with another customer service representative. I learned that Dacor is aware they have a problem with this locking mechanism and are trying to correct it.

This got my hopes up, thinking that the company would now do the right thing and replace this mechanism at not cost to me, or at least at no cost for the parts. Not so. Even though Dacor knows there is an issue with this mechanism and they are supposedly trying to correct it, all they can offer me is a discount on parts. Really? Wow! A discount for a part that you know doesn't work properly and probably won't work properly because they are still "working on the problem"? I just really don't know what to say. Is this supposed to make me happy as a customer?

Would prospective customers want to buy a Dacor product knowing that Dacor is more than happy to sell me a known defective product at a discounted price and they should expect the same? It is probably needless to say that I would urge all prospective Dacor owners to not waste their money on any Dacor product as they do not care about their customers. I will certainly be doing my part to warn others and hope this serves to warn others as well. Dacor has a lot to learn in terms of building even what could be called a good product and standing behind what they sell as well as becoming a customer service oriented company.

I have had my 30 inch Dacor Dual Fuel Range since 2002. In the past month, the oven door seems to be falling apart. I had to replace the oven door handle after the handle cracked in the spots on the right hand side where the screws go in. When I tried to screw the new handle in, I noticed that the front panel on the door is lifting away from the door. It is more separated on the right hand side which leads me to believe that it is the reason that the handle cracked on that side.

As a result, the handle cannot be properly installed. The only way this can be repaired is to call someone in to do it and it will either have to be glued together or the whole door would need replacing. Reading these forums, I'm worried that my oven problems are just beginning and I don't want to start sinking money into this oven. I purchased a Dacor as I believed it was a high quality product and that it would be worth the money and last a long time. This type of problem should not be occurring. I purchased entire kitchen of Dacor appliances - $30,000. The 48" refrigerator required 9 service calls to stop freeze up. Wall oven – the digital panel went bad. Stove top exhaust – the circuit is melting. The dishwasher had 17 service calls over 2 years - mid way they replaced the unit because they could not stop it from leaking and damaging our wood floors. The most recent service call was yesterday, 12/20/2011. After waiting since November, it is again not working. Does anyone else understand that spending $1700 on a dishwasher should allow you to use the dishwasher? I called the customer service and was told "We are discussing the situation and will get back to you." Are you going to come wash dishes with me over Christmas when we have 25 guests? Were you there on Thanksgiving? If I hadn't been stupid enough to buy all Dacor appliances, I would throw it in the dumpster and buy a GE from Home Depot.

I bought a Dacor dual-fuel range in 2002 for my new house. Within 18 months, the control panel on the front had shorted, causing the stove to emit a continuous beeping. I got this repaired, and was advised that I should not use liquid cleaners on the stove! Two years later, the same thing happened again. Finally, about 4 years ago, another fault developed in the 3rd control panel, the circuit controlling the oven lights will not respond to touch, and the oven lights switch on and off continuously. Not prepared to pay for yet another control panel replacement, I switched off the power to the stove at the main fuse box. I have continued to use the gas cooktop only, lighting it with an ignition wand.

The Dacor stove is only part-functional due to what is obviously a severe design fault in the front touch control panel, which causes the panel to short. I switch on the power to the unit twice a year to use the oven at Thanksgiving and Christmas for large roasts. This stove was a very expensive mistake. Luckily, I have a second (Wolf) oven in my kitchen, which I use instead for everyday cooking.

I purchased a 30" Dacor dual fuel range and matching hood in 2004. I paid $4009 for the range and $948 for the hood. The range and hood have been nothing but problems. I wrote to Dacor in April 2009 detailing the problems with the range with service history dating back to 2006. Problems include overheating when cleaning which is a safety risk, replacement of cooling fan, ignitor assay, part # 92309 membrane, and replacement of relay board in 2007, 2009 and again December of 2011. I attempted to purchase a Dacor extended service agreement in January 2009 but was declined due to the range's past history and its age.

I recently found this site which indicates that other consumers have had similar problems with Dacor products. Dacor has lost me as a customer as I will never buy another Dacor product! I have been disappointed and frustrated with their lack of response and support. I finally purchased a GE service contract which has helped absorb some of the cost of ongoing repairs. The overhead lighting has long since gone out in the hood. I was told the hood needs to be disassembled to replace the lights.

Dacor should step up and support its products. When most people put out $4000 for a range, they expect to get a quality product that will last 15-20 years. With Dacor, this has definitely not been the case!

Our coffee maker worked well for the first few months after which the main water pump broke and water flowed all over our cabinetry and floors. The repair people came and picked it up, sent it to the company and it took 4 months to replace the broken pump. Dacor would not do anything about the damaged cabinetry. A few months later, it started dispensing water as soon as the switch was in the on position and would not stop. Repair men contacted the company and they were told it was an electronic $400 part that failed.

Four months later, the machine came back, was reinstalled and upon the switch being turned on-- same problem! Upon calling the company, the repairman once again took it away and called me to announce it was a different problem and it would cost $1700 to fix it - $1700! The problem as I see it is beyond this machine - it is Dacor itself. Their products are not good quality and their customer service is extremely poor. We tried to have them at least find us a new machine or even a working used one. Their response was nonchalant and have never heard from them again. Moreover, every appliance store salesperson I speak to regarding this machine says, it has gotten all bad reviews from Dacor.

We have experienced motherboard burn out, membrane failure, temperature control malfunctions, error messages that cause incessant beeping. Nearly all of the problems that have been described in this list of complaints, I have had the problems themselves multiple times!

Now, I am panicking a bit because I decided to use the self clean function on my oven this morning and now, I have read some sad malfunction stories following the use of this feature. Wow! I wish I had read this website before we built our house 3 years ago. I have a 5 burner Dacor cook-top that has been nothing but trouble since day one! I have 5 different appliance brands in my kitchen and the Dacor is the only one that has caused continuous problems. I was so mad at the repair man today I hung up on him (poor guy, I see now Dacor is the problem). The cook-top has exploded three times. ow when I say exploded, I am not joking at all. I mean the explosion blew the cook-top up and burners off, blew the cabinet doors underneath open, flames shot out and the house shook.

One of the times, my one year old son was standing next to it. I was so upset I ran into the other room with him and sat on the floor and we both cried. It was terrifying! I have had a repair man here 6 times over the last 5-ish weeks (Yes, I didn't have a stove over Thanksgiving and I was the host; it's not looking good for Christmas either and we have 4 kids). They have replaced, cleaned and fixed everything possible. They then pointed the finger numerous times at the propane company (which they now have determined it is not a propane problem for sure). Today the repair company called me (by the way, they have been constant contact with their Decor rep Rob about the problems) and said they are done. My expensive 3 year old cook top is not repairable. They have exhausted every possibility. They have been here 6 times and the propane company three times.

I have a hole in my granite counter top cut specifically for the cook-top and am told that every cook-top is a different size so I do not know what I am going to do. I called Dacor today and asked to speak to someone who could help me to no avail. I then asked for someone (anyone) to call me back today. You guessed it. There's been no call back. This is getting really old. How many weeks does this need to go on (don't answer that)? Another problem that I have just lived with is that the stove continually clicks for quite a while after you are cooking. I was told to clean it a certain way. I did that and it didn't work. The repair man did it; it didn't work. The repair man said something was loose inside and tightened it. It still didn't work. I guess I could live with the click. It is the explosions that I need fixed.

I wrote yesterday, perhaps a little too hastily that our "motherboard" was dead on our Dacor stove. The repairman came today and fixed it by removing it from the front of the stove and unplugging two plugs and plugging them back in. Everything works fine now and we are vastly relieved. The repairman commented that most people are very happy with their Dacor appliances and he doesn't repair them very often.

Total relief. Also hope this doesn't happen again because though extremely simple to repair, it would become very tiresome to remove the motherboard and fiddle with the sophisticated circuitry if we had to do it ourselves. I wasn't watching real closely what the guy did and don't know if I could do it myself.

Dangerous condition! I purchased a Dacor 36" dual fuel range 5 years ago. I reported the issue to Dacor via email with no response from customer service. I believe the no response was an attempt by Dacor to distance themselves from their responsibility for this potentially dangerous condition. Specifics: When pre-heating the oven in convection/bake mode, if the oven door is opened before reaching the set pre-heat temperature, a ball of flame will explode up from the opened door. The ball of flame is basketball sized and has singed eyebrows and hair on several occasions.

To reiterate - it is a ball of flame, not super-heated air that is the problem. As a result, after non-response from Dacor, we called a decor qualified repair technician who "diagnosed" the problem as a bad igniter. The igniter was replaced and the problem still exists. I fear that a small child may be severely burned by the engineering design fault.

My gas cooktop was the "top of the line" product from Dacor and I have had nothing but problems with it for 5 years now. I have spent over $1000 fixing the large burner that continues to have leaks with the seal to the point where the flames come out the bottom of the burner. Most of the other burners click when lit even though they are clean and away from a draft. I have had 2 Dacor approved repair companies out and they both recommended against Dacor.

In addition, the finish on the cooktop has soaked in my heavy duty cooking juices and foods and the stains will not come out. Apparently, this is due to the new finish they used so that the metal can withstand the high temperatures. If this company were an auto mfg., they would have had to do recalls and face potential class action suits. I would prefer to be cooking on a camp stove rather than my Dacor. When I contacted Dacor, they offered parts at a reduced rate which still cost a fortune. When I asked about replacement, they said they would sell to me at a discounted rate which was still $2400. Bad product, bad company. My cooktop is still giving me issues. it is embarrassing to cook with friends around because of the problems.

In August of 2005, I purchased a Dacor pro range. In December 2005, the control panel began to blink and lose display. Dacor gave me names of 2 authorized repair people. After several visits by a repairman, I phoned Dacor and was told to call a repairman. They obviously didn't listen to me! The repairman spoke with Dacor representative who responded that the display needed to be ‘rebooted just like a computer.’ Several times a month, I must go to the electric control panel in my basement to turn the breaker switch off and on in an effort to ‘reboot’. In September 2010, the display panel went dark and could not be ‘rebooted’. I had to replace to control the membrane at a cost of $530.69 plus $169 for labor and a service call.

On Thanksgiving 2010, the ‘new’ display panel which was obviously defective, stopped working. Once again, a new membrane had to be ordered and installed incurring another service and labor charge! I sent a letter to Dacor wanting reimbursement of labor/service on original defective membrane and was advised that they warranty their products, not the service! It is now November 16, 2011 and I still must continuously ‘reboot’ the control panel!

However, I spoke to an authorized Dacor repairman who told me that Dacor has had many complaints such as mine and now have a devise which attaches to the power cord and filters out the ‘noise’ from other household items which disrupts the control panel on my oven! Is there a reason why Dacor is keeping this a secret? Do they not want to make their consumers happy? I can't wait to be rid off this appliance and all association with the Dacor company!

We now have a problem with the control panel. Dacor's only response is that they do not make the part anymore and cannot help us remedy the problem. They even had the nerve to say that they would give us 10% off a new one. Except for the annoying buzzer sound, the stove works well. Buying a new one is a financial burden we never expected or want to accept. We are telling all of our friends to stay away from this manufacturer. I wish I did not have to give Dacor any "stars".

Hello. Of course we were troubled to hear of your situation. There are various reasons why a part is no longer available, some which we don’t have a definitive answer for. While we physically assemble the appliances here in our factory, we do obtain various parts from outside vendors and for one reason or another, they are unable to supply us with the part; in turn, we are unable to supply the part to our customers. In the recent economic shift, we’ve also noticed a number a vendors going out of business and this has affected every industry, and Dacor and our competitors are no exception. We would never hope for a situation like this, but since we are now faced with it, we can only focus on how to find a solution. Since the oven has been installed for 15 years, it may be beneficial to consider replacing the unit with a current model, which is why that offer was extended to you. A new unit would provide you with the latest features and a new manufacturer's warranty. You had expressed an interest in allowing Dacor to assist you in the transition to a new oven and we provided you with current models which would fit your current cabinetry. Our file was pending your response from you. We factor in the number of years you’ve had the unit, any prior service history, and the fact the part required is no longer available when offering assistance. You had mentioned that you had no prior repairs in the last 15 years, so we are very willing to work with you to keep you in the Dacor Family and will contact you directly to provide you with our proposed solution.

I remodeled my kitchen about four years ago with all Dacor appliances. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made.

I have since replaced the refrigerator after only two years. After spending over $1000 in repair calls and parts, I purchased a new refrigerator as the freezer motor went out and had water all over my floor countless times even after new parts were installed. The ovens also have been replaced (12 months ago) as the lower heating element went out and had the upper and lower ovens go out with panel failures.

I was so stupid to install the 30-inch dishwasher, as well. It also went out after 18 months with a motherboard failure. The upper rack glider also fell apart. Having the 30- inch dishwasher, I would have had to have a carpenter come in and make adjustments to my new cabinets. So I found another 30-inch Dacor dishwasher at an appliance store in Memphis, had it shipped to me and installed.

It has been 10 months and I am now having the same problem I had with the previous Dacor dishwasher. It never ends! With the only option left but to have the cabinet remodeled, I will be purchasing a third dishwasher 10 months later. The only good that came out of this is the cooktop is still working (as of this date).

All I can say is, if it says Dacor, don't purchase the product! This company shouldn't even be in business! What is even more pathetic is, when you call the Customer Service number, their representatives have such a "I could care less attitude". It is a waste of time to even attempt to seek a solution to your problem. I guess they feel that since they have your money now, it's the consumer's problem, not theirs.

GE Profile products are far superior and a lot less money. It goes to show an expensive price tag doesn't mean the product is superior.

It's going on now, for over 6 months. Is there any news? I am very frustrated!

We purchased a Dacor Epicure dual fuel range when we built our house 7 years ago. It was the most expensive appliance we bought and we wish we hadn't. We have had no problems with the stove top, but the oven, specifically the broiler unit has been a consistent problem. We rarely use the broiler and use the oven perhaps 2 or 3 times a month. Yet, the igniter had to be replaced in March of 2008 and again, in June of 2010. In January of 2011, the broil gas valve was changed and now in September, the broiler is again not working. I can't see pouring any more money into this appliance and will sell as soon as I find a buyer willing to take a chance on it. We have been greatly disappointed in this product.

Our kitchen was remodeled 5 years ago. We have had nothing but problems with our Dacor pop-up vent system. We had paid more than twice for the product due to a design flaw where they have used tape to hold the fan together. As people occasionally cook with oily foods, grease eventually renders the tape to stop working. The fan gets stuck half way as it gets caught on the protruding section. The motors then burn up.

I purchased my Dacor Epicure Range 8 years ago when I remodeled my kitchen. My other appliances were made by GE and Bosch. I've had to service my GE appliances a couple of times in the last 8 years, but it is the Dacor that has given me the most grief and it was the most expensive appliance purchased. It has never been reliable with regard to convection baking. Initially I thought it was my inexperience with a convection oven. I read everything I could get my hands on and kept trying...after talking with a friend who does quite a bit of baking I realized it's not me, it's my oven.

Then the real problems started. First it was the broiler/ignitor, next it was the membrane in the keypad. Two months later it was the relay board and this time it was the broiler/ignitor....Again! Started calling Dacor when the relay board went out because at this point I had spent $1,000 on repairs....after I had paid $4,000 for the range itself. For the last two repairs Dacor has paid for the parts, while I paid for the service call and labor. This has reduced the cost of my last two repairs by about 50%, which is very helpful. However, I'm still very disappointed in the product. I spend a good deal of time in my kitchen and do quite a bit of baking, cooking, and canning. I thought that if I spent more money and bought a "high-end" appliance, it would serve me well. At the rate that I'm going, I will need to purchase another range, unless I want to keep throwing money into repairs on this one, which I don't. I will not ever purchase (or recommend) another Dacor product again.

However, my Dacor microwave and convection oven have been a huge disappointment to me. The plastic turntable support has melted and I am concerned about possible fire danger. My oven is a lemon and has never worked properly. I complained a lot when I first got it, but finally gave up.

Dacor did nothing to help me with my poor functioning oven. I was disappointed that they didn't keep records of previous calls I had made. The door has never had a tight seal and makes a lot of noise when cooking. It cooks uneven and I have given up even trying to bake. Every time I cook a turkey it takes about 2 hours longer than it should. For some reason, the temperature doesn't remain constant. My oven is 10 years old and it started out a lemon and is still a lemon. I have no confidence in Dacor products.

I am concerned that my microwave is not functioning correctly and may start a fire. When I talked to Dacor about this problem, they offered to give me a discount on a new microwave. I think they should give me a new microwave. I need an oven that works and is going to have to buy a new oven because my Dacor oven is not reliable and does not cook evenly. My goal is that by next Thanksgiving, I will have an oven that can cook a turkey.

This is a follow-up to my previous complaint:

Dacor, for the second time says, the oven I purchased was specialized for "convection cooking". They basically told me I have to follow Dacor's cooking guide and if my recipes still do not work to contact them and they will have their chef perfect my recipes and send me back their suggestions. I can assure you, if I was ever told that I would have to alter my recipes and change the way I have been cooking in my ovens for the last 25 years I would NEVER have purchased this stove!

The reviews I have found online are terrible. Clearly, this is a known issue that Dacor continues to deny and put the blame on the cooks for not cooking "the Dacor way." I cannot believe that Dacor actually expects customers to adapt their cooking to their product. It is completely outrageous!

Below is the email I received today:

Thank you for your time today in discussing your experience with your Dacor range. I have attached the cooking guide that was designed specifically for your model range. Page 3 has some great information regarding Dacor's Patented Pure Convection mode, as well as a diagram which shows the referenced rack position numbers. Page 5 has more information regarding the recommended bakewear to use in order to obtain the best results, as well as pan placement tips.

On page 13, you will find our recommendations for single rack baking for: cookies, refrigerated. Single rack convection baking for cookies should be placed on rack 2 (from the bottom). It shows that the cookies should be placed on a cookie sheet, baked in Pure Convection at a temperature of 350 for approximately 12-15 minutes. We know that this oven was not purchased to only bake cookies, but the cookies will help us see the airflow of the oven and should show even results from side to side.

If you can take some pictures of the results and attach them to a response to this email, with brief descriptions, that would help. Again, in using this particular range model personally, I know how good those cookies will come out. Most food items will fall into one of the categories listed in the cooking guide. Also, as I had let you know, if there are particular recipes which you would like to have our Executive Chef perform in this model range, just let us know.

I feel like I need to go to a "Dacor" cooking class. Are you serious? Who buys an oven and then has to change their recipes, use a special guide, special rack placement chart and different cookware because their family recipes they have been using for 25 years do not work! My local appliance store is coming out this week to service this unit again. They tell me they were able to correct the problem for another customer. To be fair and honest, I will follow up if they are able to solve this problem. This has been an awful lot of time and trouble for simply wanting to bake like I always have been able to with other ovens.

We remodeled our home three years ago and purchased Dacor appliances for our kitchen. What a huge mistake! The built-in refrigerator has had eight service calls in the last 12 months, because of a problem with the fan. Ice builds up on the fan, which causes a noise akin to an airplane taking off. When the repairman showed up, he dutifully chipped the ice off the fan. Finally, I inquired as to why ice builds up in just a week or so. The repairman speculated that it may be because a hose is leaking. He replaced the fan and the hose. Two days after he left, the noise began again. The repairman is coming again tomorrow. I'm wondering how many more service calls I have to endure before the company will just replace the refrigerator, which clearly is a lemon. Dacor has done nothing to help, referring me to the company that holds the extended warranty. I have inquired about having the refrigerator replaced. But the warranty says that, despite the record of service calls, there is no evidence that there is a problem with my unit. Apparently, I have to have the service technician file a separate report with the warranty company, which is what I am going to do tomorrow.

For my first complaint, the preheat flashing light, indicating that the preheat temperature was reached, wasn't working. For the first week, I had the range; it worked. When the repairman came out, he said that the manual was a misprint. Can you believe that? I was appalled with his response and immediately called the appliance store to question this. Kris was very friendly and wanted to convey this to Aaron, the Dacor representative before responding. She called back quite promptly, and said that indeed, the light should be turning on and off every few seconds, just like the manual states on p.10. But that's minor compared to the biggest problem - it doesn't cook properly.

The second complaint is uneven baking. Cookies, brownies, and bread get unevenly baked. Cookies on the right side are done but raw on the left side. The top of brownies are so crunchy on the top that they crumble when cut but are almost raw in the middle. Muffins are also unevenly cooked. Those in the middle don't get done.

Third complaint is that baking time is too long. My chicken in wine sauce usually braises in the oven for 20-25 minutes, but with the Dacor, it took almost 2 hours. Chocolate chip cookies that took 9 minutes on my old Tappan convection, now takes 14 minutes. Preheat times for higher temperatures can range anywhere between 25-65 minutes. There's no difference in baking times between the convection and regular bake.

For the fourth complaint, the oven doesn't maintain its temperature. It decreases about 30 degrees. Writing this, I realized that this could be the answer as to why things take so long to cook.

Fifth complaint is that the oven is very noisy. Sometimes, it's the sound of banging, and other times, it's loud clicking.

I'm an experienced cook of many, many years. I had a Tappan convection for 25 years and never had one problem. I had expectations that this high-end range would perform as well as my older, lower-end stove. Was I wrong!

I've talked with people from the appliance store to the area representative and representative from Dacor. Everyone so far has been friendly and seems to want to help. The reality is nothing has been done to fix the problem. I was sent a Digital Temperature Recording Device which I immediately tested and sent back the following day. I emailed them specific baking examples, and what's their response so far? They're reviewing the data.

I've had enough of fearing to use a range with a price tag of $3,500.

Four years ago, I purchased a new Dacor Double-Oven (MOH227S). The oven has been used fewer than 30 times. Recently, the oven displayed a U60 cooling fan error and failed to heat. After consultation with several certified appliance repair companies, I was encouraged to call Dacor to request the following: (2) oven relay boards and (2) blowers. Dacor required me to purchase the replacement parts for several hundred dollars.

Upon receiving the *new* parts, I had a reputable, competent and certified repairman remove the defective parts and install the replacement parts. Upon completion, the oven failed to work. Instead of receiving the U60 cooling fam error, I was now receiving a L60 cooling fan error. The oven was still inoperable. I was required to pay the repairman $164 for his time despite the fact the oven was still inoperable.

I was then required to call Dacor and request the following: (1) replacement oven relay board and (1) blower. Dacor provided the replacement parts free-of-charge, due to the fact that the original replacement parts were only a few days old. I was then encouraged to call-back, once the issue was resolved, to discuss/remedy charges I may incur for the removal/installation of the defective (new) Dacor replacement parts. Upon receiving the parts, the repairman returned, installed the parts, and the oven is now functional. However, the repairman charged me another $164 for his time which is justified.

I then contacted Dacor to respectfully request a reimbursement for the 2nd $164 repair bill that I was required to pay due to Dacor providing me with deffective parts originally. Upon talking with a Dacor customer service representative, he stated that I could fax the invoices to Dacor; however, in all likelihood Dacor will do nothing about it. Dacor sold me the parts and I should be grateful for that. I was very disappointed with the response from the customer service representative. As such, I called back and left (2) detailed voicemails with Erika (a Dacor customer service rep). As of this writing, it's been 7 business days and I've not received a call back, absolute silence.

Dacor's lack of professionalism, follow-through, and their inability to stand behind their products, parts, and own recommendations saddens and frustrates me. Additionally, this experience (and their behavior) blatantly contradicts their 'company values'. I will strongly encourage my family, friends, colleagues and those online to avoid Dacor products at all cost. This is very disappointing.

I had Dacor double wall ovens installed in November, 2007. During the summer of 2010 (less than 3 years old), the ovens would beep incessantly and display an error code "U60 Cooling fan" every time I tried to heat them. I called Dacor and was given a code to enter to cancel the error code. This worked for a couple of months, although I had to do it repeatedly.

I called again and was told to turn off the circuit breaker to the ovens to cause a reset. I did this. It worked for a few days then the oven would not heat and would simply beep like crazy and display the same error code. I called Dacor and was told that since it was "almost three years old" it was out of warranty and they will not do anything for me. **

I called Aloha Repair of Sunnyvale. For $643.95, the guy fixed only the lower oven. He had to replace the control board. The upper oven still does not work so I will have to call him back. The control board costs over $400. Thus we will have to spend a thousand dollars to fix an oven that is not even three years old.

This is unacceptable. I will never buy Dacor again and I will warn all of my friends not to buy it. This is terrible quality. An appliance this expensive should last longer than 2-3/4 years.

The inside glass shattered on my oven during the automatic clean cycle. Oven is three year old and is out of warranty. I may have used self cleaning once. Customer service said there may have been a slight flaw or crack in glass caused by wiping up spills. There was no help at all. The glass will cost $113 and service will cost over $100. Do you hear of many cases where Dacor oven glass shatters on self cleaning mode?

We have all Decor appliances in our home. The first thing to go was the double dishwasher. The top unit died. And while Decor provided parts, we were out $195 for the repair. At the time I had asked the representative at Decor Canada why my built-in Decor microwave oven/wall oven/warming oven seemed to have an oven door that did not close fully. I was told not to worry about it, the only time it closed fully was when it was set to self clean. We foolishly believed it.

A few months later, the second dishwasher died. It began to leak water on our hardwood floors. At this time decor said too bad, the warranty is over. So we paid $395 for repairs to the second dishwasher and $600 repairs to our hardwood. Now one year later, the first dishwasher is dead again and remember the door on the wall oven? It won't even close as of today. It falls back out a few inches after you try to close it. Anyone who reads this comment, do yourself a favor and do not buy a Dacor product. We would have been much further ahead with what we were told were cheap domestic brands.

I purchased new set of high-end Dacor double ovens less than a year ago. During the summer months, the ovens threw off so much heat into the kitchen that we couldn't use them as the air conditioning couldn't handle the high load. We called Werner Stellien where we purchased the units and then were bounced between them and a third party service company before being told that we had to contact Dacor directly to get authorization because the units were still under warranty. When I finally spoke with Dacor, the representative was rude, obnoxious and uncooperative.

He basically said that giving off heat is what ovens do and it is normal for kitchens to become very hot and for the A/C not to be able to keep up. He said he could authorize a service call but that we would probably have to pay for it because the oven is doing its job, i.e. heating up the kitchen. Attempts to explain that I felt the amount of heat was excessive were met with contempt and continued emphasis that if he authorized a service call, we would probably have to pay for it even though the units are under warranty. I could accept a polite warning about the possibility of having to pay for a service call if nothing is found wrong, but I found the attitude and tone of the Dacor rep to be extremely offensive. My impression was that he viewed his job as someone intent on discouraging any warranty work on Dacor products. I will never buy a Dacor product again or do business with their distributor.

I bought a brand new mov230s on 09/29/2010 and had it installed on 10/04/2010 only to find out that it was dead on arrival. Before it was installed into the cabinet, it was tested and the unit fans came on and never turned off. Also, it produced an error code which we assumed was to indicate that the doors were off. I did not call Dacor at this time. I had the unit placed into the cabinet and the doors reinstalled, only to get the fan and error issue. I then called Dacor. They refuse to replace the unit and I was told this unit was a floor model. I assured them it was not as it came in their packaging, in mint condition with all protective plastics and still attached to the pallet.

They are treating this as a warranty issue and I have not even used the ovens. This is a first for me that an appliance that is faulty out of the packaging is not replaced. I am very unhappy and I don't think I can recommend Dacor to my friends and clients. My kitchen is being remodeled and I am missing the Dacor fridge and microwave and at this point I will hold on to my existing appliances and not replace them with Dacor. I have already replaced my cooktop, downdraft vent with in-line blower, dishwasher, to return, and now ovens with Dacor.

This should not be so challenging to have the item replaced.

I purchased a Dacor 48" Dual Fuel Epicure Range for my new home. We moved into this home on December 21, 2007 on a part-time basis. A year later, we occupied the home full-time. At the end of 2008, having used the oven for holiday meals, it was time to clean to oven. After self-cleaning, I noticed the glass in the door had a "rainbow color" effect. I also noticed that the enameled corners around the windows was flaking off. In about August of 2009, the oven lights to the main oven would not turn on. The lights in the small oven worked fine. I checked to bulbs in the large oven and they were not burned out. Then, the LED light on one of the burner controls goes out.

It has taken me over a year to be in the position to have a repairman come to fix this issue as, I lost my job in September of 2009 and had two mortgages to pay at that time. So, now with one less mortgage to pay, I can get the repairman to come out and trouble shoot the problem. First, I watch as it takes approximately 40 minutes for the total top of the range to be dismantled in order to access the transformer which, he thinks, is the problem. Once he confirms the transformer is bad, he now must reassemble the range top. This takes approximately 45 minutes. I now have a bill for trip and diagnosis, one LED replacement and two hours of labor. Total: $193.00.

I called Dacor and complained that these (transformer and LED) are non-moving parts that I have no control over and that I should not have to pay to have the stove/oven "rebuilt" twice just to replace a part. At first, customer service said that they could sell me the transformer at their cost, just call and let them know the model number of the part. All of that done, I also asked for some help with the bill I am facing to install the part. Absolutely not is the answer. I was told that "the item has been in your home for some time now and is out of warranty." My response is that 2-3/4 years is not "some time" for a product that cost $10,000.00 and should last a lifetime. Then, I was told that Dacor believes that an appliance will last 7 to 10 years! So, I suppose that I can expect this Epicure range to continue to fall apart in pieces in the next 4 to 7 years!

I am at the apex of my dis-satisfaction with this range/oven! I will now make it my business to tell every one of my design customers and friends that they should not waste their money on Dacor. Buy Wolf instead, I wish I had. I had been told that the Dacor company was family-owned and operated and, that they upheld Christian values.

This makes me wonder why they haven't had recalls on issues like LED's burning out and transformers not working when they know that these are issues of defective parts, that they should correct.

Instead, I now have nothing, but a bad taste in my mouth for this company even though, I did get them to send me the transformer ($23.94) without charge.

And about that defective finish on the inside of the oven door? First, I was told that I didn't have the sliding shelf in properly! Not hardly. Then, I was told that I could purchase a new door liner! Who would want to continue to invest in such an ill-made product? I already gave $10,000.00 for this thing! Dacor needs to get things right or get out of the business of appliances. I could not be more unhappy.

Approximately 1 and 1/2 years ago I started smelling gas every time I used my Dacor gas oven. I called one of the only two authorized service companies for Manhattan. Several visits could not fix the problem. Then the oven stopped functioning. I had to replace the relay and the clock mechanism at a cost exceeding $800, but still the gas smell persisted. The service company replaced the ignition valve and that's another $125, a reduced fee for labor since they should have done this on a prior visit. When the smell got stronger, I contacted Dacor who got in touch with the company since they would no longer deal with me.

The tech told me I didn't need the valve because the 2 rows of gas flames were not synchronized causing one to ignite and the other to continue to discharge gas. Through the intervention of Dacor, I received a $100 refund from the service company. 11 months later, I had a major problem when I used the self cleaning feature. The oven would not turn off, continued to be too hot and locked 7 hours after I turned it on. I called Dacor - was told to trip my circuit breaker and stop complaining since the oven was 10 years old. Further, the consumer contact "leader" arranged to send me another set of the parts I had replaced since they were less than 1 year old and were under warranty. However, despite her many phone calls, there was only one other service company that would come to Manhattan.

She called them and they installed the new relay Dacor sent at a labor cost of $200. He also told me that the excessive heat had melted the plastic door handle and that this was an expensive part with more labor cost. He also told me that he would call me with the price of the repair. He never did. I asked the service person to check and make sure that the stop device or thermostat was operating properly so this would not happen again. The previous occurrence was a fire hazard! He told me he couldn't and that I should clean the oven manually and not use the self clean since the oven would get too hot. After one week I again called Dacor. Mike told me that they had difficulty getting service assistance (in New York?), knew the company that came and that he would contact them and get back to me.

No response. I called again last Wednesday and Erica told me Mike contacted Melissa but she did not reply to his e-mail. She attempted to contact this "leader" Melissa since she had the final say. One day later she called back to say Melissa told her it was a ten year old stove and problems happen. Dacor would do nothing about the door handle. What about checking the thermostat. She said she would continue to find out about the service problem and call back on Friday. Dacor did not call back.

Sunday, I attempted to use the oven at 375 degrees. After 20 minutes it started to beep, I got an F2 prompt. I could not cancel the setting or stop the beeping. Again, I had to trip the circuit breaker. I will call the service company and Dacor again tomorrow. I refuse to accept that a "high end" oven has a life of only 10 years. Melissa stated that Dacor wouldn't help a consumer if the problem could be repaired; however, they must have difficulty getting and/or controlling their authorized servicers. In addition, they are not telling their distributors of the short life expectancy of their products. They are selling them with a 20+ year life as they are all luxury appliances.

I am thoroughly disgusted with their attitude towards their customers. No one should purchase these products if they cannot get authorized service and/or assistance from the manufacturer. I have spent almost $1,000 in repairs, have had problems using the oven( especially around holidays), door handle is melted and needs replacement. I'm still not sure there is no high temperature hazard. Oven does not work.

I bought the Dacor microwave in a drawer and had problems from day one. The open/close feature on the door closed and opened at such a high rate that food sloshed around and spilled in the microwave. It eventually stopped working completely and Dacor would not replace this item. Second one was installed about two months ago and same problem. Yesterday the repair man came and this time took the microwave to the shop. Apparently Dacor is aware of this problem and an alert has been issued to the people who handle Dacor but it is not being acknowledged to the consumer. I found the Dacor people rude and abrasive when called. I also have Miele appliances none of which have any problems. I will never buy their product again, and will tell all my friends who are renovating not to purchase this product. Poor product and even worse customer service.

We remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago and replaced all the appliances. We had a Dacor dual fuel stand alone range and had continual flapper valve problems with the gas range top . However, we have loved the oven. We decided that we would not get a Dacor again. When we talked with the technician the last time it needed repair, he said that this problem had been resolved in the newer models and that Dacor was a dependable product and gave great support rather than the one we were going to choose over Dacor. Regretfully we went with Dacor. The separate range top we have, occasionally deploys the same clicking noise that signals the flapper failure but we lighten it manually and it corrected itself.

However, the Epicurean series double wall oven we had is a different story. One year after the installation and 2 to 3 weeks after the 1 year warranty expired, the motherboard died. We called Dacor and they told us that they are sorry if it would be $3,000 for a new motherboard. After much haggling between the store and Dacor, Dacor agreed to send a new motherboard but we would pay for the installation. We were agreeable. Now, we have a new problem that the service men are having difficulty solving. We are awakened with a constant beeping from the oven with a code U43 in the relay board. We now have cut the power to the ovens to stop the beeping until it can be permanently repaired. Since then we had no oven. For the amount of the product, I would expect a higher quality item and a company that would stand behind their product better than we have experienced with Dacor.

This is a follow up to the follow up. To recap, I posted a complaint on this site and got a call from Dacor. They had me install a dedicated electrical circuit for the oven and authorize a repair from a local dealer. I got the electrical work done. The local dealer came and replaced the mother board and the relay board. The stove was quiet for about 2 hours, and then the beeping and the F1 started again. I emailed James at Dacor letting him know the work was done (when the stove was quiet). He replied right away. I emailed him shortly after (when the beeping started) and I've heard nothing since. I guess they know they have a real dog in this product.
