I've been dealing with MTD for several weeks now. I have an MTD 25 cc Weed Eater that the coil mount broke off. It's very dangerous; it could have busted through the plastic and hurt the old man. MTD will not do anything to make the customer (me) happy. This is a safety issue that should be dealt with. The little guy doesn't have a chance; the big co. will wiggle their way out every time. So my suggestion to all, leave the MTD Weed Eaters on the shelf. I sent pictures of the break, still no good.

I purchased a Cub Cadet 2542 lawn tractor and have had nothing but trouble with the unit. The belts wear out fast and very expensive to repair. It is a hydro unit that will not stop when you take your foot off the pedal in either direction. I have had three local dealers work on it with no improvement. The only thing they are good at is handing you the bill. They cannot fix it and the factory has no idea how to fix the problem. It is not only a piece of junk, but it is a dangerous piece of junk. I bet the fellows who run MTD have John Deere equipment and only mow their grass after dark.

I wish that I had read the reviews on Cub Cadet before I made my purchase. It's nothing but junk - poorly engineered, poor materials, extremely unreliable, expensive to fix, poor parts service from the manufacturer and the list goes on. First, the transmission went. Then it was in the shop for 3 months because the manufacturer had a wheel on back order which begs the question, "Why did the wheel break in the first place?" Now it is back in because of an electrical malfunction that burned up the wiring harness and the choke cable. Prior to going down "Cub Cadet Lane", I was a very satisfied John Deere owner. They are more expensive, but well worth it. Don't make the mistake I did. Buy quality - not Cub Cadet.

Cub Cadet LT1045 2006 Model - Tractor did work great the first 3 years but then belts broke and all the new belts, deck belt and especially the drive belt do not last more than 25 hours if that. Deck belt is no problem to change but drive belt is a nightmare at best. The heat from the transmission bakes the belts and they crack and break or just come off the drive pulley and get chewed up. At $25.00 a belt, this is not acceptable. Also, the stupid PTO is very expensive and as a wire breaks, you cannot replace the plug in as it is molded into the top of the magnet in the clutch. Stupid idea as a plug should be made to plug into the PTO not at the tail end of the electrical plug. If the wire in the PTO breaks in the harness next to the magnet, you’re done and they want between $130 and $303 for another one.
I took a wood screw and an electric connector and screw into the broken wire on the magnet and then silicone - very good to help with vibrations. This worked and saved me all the money for the PTO. However, the dam drive belt worked only 30 minutes and came off again and cut it up. Thank God winter is starting as I put into shed till spring. I will take to shop and let them see what the hell is wrong. I will never buy a Cub Cadet again as I had a MTD for 13 years and never had any trouble and cut three times as much grass as I do now. I did change belts, delt, and drive and pulleys and bearings myself, no problem. I thought this Cub Cadet would last me the rest of my life but again I think the reputation they had in the past is gone and now they ride off of it.

I purchased a new Cub Cadet weed trimmer and leaf blower 18 months ago. A rechargeable battery that could be used on either unit came with the package. Total price for all with tax was about $240. The battery has failed and no longer holds a charge. Come to find out, the battery is only warranted for one year. Okay, so the customer is now pissed because the unit has failed within 18 months. Now I'm told the battery will cost me $121 plus tax. Okay, so now I'm really pissed.
I already know that the odds are not in my favor and that Cub Cadet produces a poor battery. Would I spring for another battery at $121 going in with the understanding that it will also fail? Not in my lifetime. Cub gang, new customers are not easy to acquire and you just lost this one. And if Cub Cadet ever comes up in a conversation, I'll be sure to voice my disapproval. Oh and by the way, I didn't look close enough at the ergonomics of the grass trimmer before I made my initial buy. It has to be the worst ever and the designer that came up with this ought to be fired.

I purchase a Cub Cadet about 3 years ago - nothing but trouble. I have never seen a mower put together so bad. I understand - you pay for what you get. I didn’t know MTD was making Cub. I found out they are making a lot of different ones - John Deere, Troy-Bilt and just a few. There’s nothing in my yard that would make the trouble. I have it taken apart this spring and found out it needed wielded up - the spindle holes were broke and weren’t staying in time. I got that fixed and the belt won’t stay on - it keeps jumping off. I called the factory and they told me it’s only good for 7 years. Well, I have three old ones (1963, 1964, and 1966) and two of them run better than new ones you can make.
They want me to buy a new one and give me 2 years warranty on it, but when the warranty goes off, I still have junk. I would tell everyone to get an old one or any old one before MTD started making them. Fix it up - it’s still a lot cheaper. I have 1200 in one that I restored and it runs better than a new one. I will never buy a new one again. I said that to a dealer and they did want to hear that even if it’s a cheap machine, you should have quality in them.

I have owned a Cub Cadet Z Force S less than a year. I bought the commercial model to mow approximately 2 acres around my house, though it has been no more durable than my riding lawn mower I used to use. I have only used this mower for about 6 months during the mowing season and it has been in for warranty service two times in the last 3 months for a clutch spring that keeps breaking. I spend more in gas taking it for service than what the spring cost. Warning, stay away from MTD products which are manufactured under several different names; this is the one who bought the Cub Cadet name and has run it in the ground for the junk they are manufacturing.
I contacted customer service after my dealer said this is a reoccurring problem, but they blew me off saying this has only happened less than 40 times in 3 years of manufacturing this mower (bold face lie). The customer service representative recommended I write to the Corporate Office, like that will get me anywhere. Do not buy the following brands and let's put this China steel using manufacturer out of business: MTD®, MTD Gold®, MTD Pro®, Yard-Man®, Yard Machines®, Bolens®, Remington and last of all, Cub Cadet.

The mower deck on Cub Cadet lawn mower keeps breaking down. I have returned it 4 times for repair and it's broken down again. The pulleys went bad first. Since then, the belt keeps stretching and the tension keeps stretching also. I have been told that we were mowing wrong thus causing this to happen. I am 60 yrs. old and my uncle who also helps mow is 73 so I feel like we know by now how to mow! I feel dejected by the service I have been given and am frustrated with having to haul the mower to the shop for repair. I spoke to the Cub Cadet hotline and got no help other than to take it back in to be repaired and checked again (I guess there is no lemon law for mowers!).

I bought this Cub Cadet LT 1045 Riding Mower from a neighbor that was losing his house and needed money. The mower was purchased new by him two years ago. This mower is nothing but problems. First problem was replacing drive belt at $40.00. It took me a whole day and wound up having to bend the crank pulley to get belt on. Next... steering gear stripped? When you look at the design, it is no wonder the entire steering shaft has one bearing plate in the center under battery tray. I have two Craftsman mowers and while they are not the greatest, they are better built and designed than this MTI Cub Cadet. I will buy the new steering shaft, bearing, and steering lower gear plate; and install myself and sell this thing for cash at a yard sale.

I bought my LTX 1050 on 3/17/12 for $2,000. Yesterday, the belt came off after 26 hours on the mower. After spending a couple of hours replacing it, I start cutting again. I had been on there about an hour and heard a pinging noise. I turned it off and lifted the rubber ejection cover, and the metal bar under that had snapped in two. I called Cub Cadet who gave me a phone number for an authorized repair center. I have a very even yard with no rocks or limbs. The dealer cannot pick it up until Thursday and it will be at least a week and a half before he can even look at it. I have 6 acres of grass that desperately needs cutting and I can't even get a loaner. I'm going to look up the Lemon Law and see if I can get relief that way.

I purchased a Cub Cadet SLTX 1054 garden tractor. We have a very flat yard, yet the belt comes off at least once every time we mow. The deck clogs with grass very easily for a commercial grade mower. The problem seems to be in an inferior design of a belt "rod keeper" which is very flimsy and cannot withstand the torque of the mower. Cub Cadet (MTD) does not seem to want to acknowledge this design flaw - probably to avoid having to replace or retrofit this mower deck component. There is a three-year warranty; however, there is a tremendous wait time for service (go figure!).

The only part of the Cub Cadet LT 1040 riding mower that is worth anything is the engine, which was made by Kohler. This mower breaks about every other time I use it. I have had to re-engineer it five times to keep it going. The grass catcher took two fixes, the belt system took one fix (I am not able to fix the other belt problem), and the blade timing system took another fix. Running the mower with no grass catcher anymore has required another fix. The spindle for the second blade wore out at around 45 hours of operation. The head light quit working the first time I used the mower. I have gotten so much practice taking the deck off for repairs; I think I could do it blindfolded by now. The PTO belt is forced to negotiate a steep offset and wears out often. The replacement belts are over $40 from the local Cub outlet yet the same belts are available at the local auto parts store for around half that.
The warranty is impractical. I have to take the mower to the authorized dealer who informed me that since it was warranty work, it would be serviced as bottom priority - one week minimum shop time before they even look at it. When I told Cub about this, they could not care less. If you consider how fast grass grows in Florida in August and how hard it is to keep a lawn mowed in-between the rain storms, my grass would have been around 14" high by the time the mower got fixed. If I had the money to buy a trailer to tow the mower, I would have just bought a professional mower and not needed a trailer. If the mower sits in a repair shop for weeks on end, the warranty period in reality becomes much shorter. I called Cub to discuss the mower's troubles. I was happy to share the fixes which I added to my mower in the interest of improving American products and keeping the Japanese from taking over the mower business with reliable mowers. The Cub representative wanted nothing to do with any fixes claiming that Cub mowers were top quality.

I purchased this Cub Cadet RZT-S 42" riding mower at the end of March 2012. The mower now has 12 hours on it and has been in the repair shop five times. The first time, the solenoid went out. The second time, the steering would not work. The third time, the steering malfunctioned again. The fourth time, the drive would not work; and the fifth time again, the drive would not work. (The belt apparently got a small piece of wood under it and came off.)
We live 35 miles from the shop where we bought the mower. So far we have made 9 trips to take the mower to be repaired and pick it up. That amounts to 315 miles that we have had to drive at our own expense to fix a mower that has 12 hours of use on it. We have a normal yard that is not rough or hilly. If we had been told that the mower was so delicate that you could only mow a golf course, we would not have purchased it. We have not been able to mow our lawn one time without the mower breaking. We ask the store where we purchased the mower to replace it and he said the company would not. They told him to put a new belt on the mower. (There is nothing wrong with the belt.)
Apparently, we have a lemon with lots of problems. We are extremely dissatisfied with this product, and will make sure that it gets plenty of bad publicity. How many times do we have to get the mower repaired before the company realizes that it has a problem? We would like to have this mower replaced. For $3,000, we expected to get more use than 12 hours. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Arkansas. I am asking that you do the right thing and replace this mower. If all of your mowers are this bad, you need to close your business.

LGT 1054 belt comes off and keeper rod issues - I bought the mower on Mar. 26, 2012. It has 11 hours on it. Last month, I turned the mower on and the belt came off and bent the $5 P/N Cub Cadet 747-04530 keeper rod. The belt would not stay on with this cheap part bent. Great, under warranty, I took it to the shop. 2 weeks later, I got it back. They replaced the keeper rod and replaced the spring. They said it was stretched (again, 11 hours of use). I took it home, cut grass one time. Today, I went to cut grass, turned on the mower and the belt comes off. You guessed, bent the keeper rod. Tractor Supply manager in Millington just said, "Here is the warranty information. Over 30 days, I can't help you." So now it will go back in the shop for another 2 weeks to replace a part that takes less than 15 minutes to replace. I can't do it myself because it is under warranty. Cub Cadet sucks and so does Tractor Supply in Millington, TN.

I bought a Cub Cadet Z-Force 60 at end of summer 2007, listed for over $5K. I paid around $4200. It has approximately 135 hours on it as of summer 2012. I only used it to cut personal lawn. The right hydro gear transaxle failed in the last mow attempt. It turned out to be a broken axle. I found out that the replacement unit is approx. $800. I found just the axle part through a local small engine repair shop and repaired the unit myself for approx $100.
I was warned by the shop that "they didn't replace parts in these units and I would be "on my own" if I ordered the part to repair myself. I couldn't even return the part if it was the wrong one. I just attempted to mow after repair and guess what? Yep, you guessed it. After mowing approx 1.5 hours, the left side failed with the same type break. It looks like the shaft/axle has been case hardened judging by the cross section of the break. My guess is no annealing after, so shafts are left brittle with weak cross sections. It appears to be very poor manufacturing/quality control. This is apparently not an uncommon problem with these units, so caveat emptor!
If you don't have a reasonably equipped shop and have to take it in for repair, you will likely end up spending over $1000 to replace one of these units because all of the places I checked with did not repair the unit, only replaced it. I have no reason to believe that the replacement shafts are of any higher quality than the originals so I will repair, finish out this mowing season and trade it for another unit that doesn't use hydro gear for anything! I hate repairing things because of faulty quality control or crummy manufacturing practice and this hydro gear unit is a prime example. I will never buy another Cub Cadet!

Ok, where do I start. Whoever states that the I1046 Zero Turn riding mower is a piece of junk, that word is even too good of a statement for this piece of crap mower that I paid almost $5K for. The mower is almost three years old, and it is in the shop, now getting the right transmission replaced yet again. I really don't know which is worse, the crappy mower or the service center that is supposedly trying to fix it. Forty hours in the first, the right transmission was replaced; now 60 hours, and yet again, the mower has the same problems - locking up and chattering. Rumor has that this mower was manufactured for 1 year because of this faulty transmission, so be aware of this problem.
I have over an acre that I use this mower to cut, and today's date, it has been over 3 weeks that the service center in my area has had this machine. The famous line is that we need to get in touch with Cub Cadet. So my problem is, besides the price of the crap and apparently faulty parts, I also have a faulty service center. I called Cub Cadet and was told they were there to help me. Hmm, okay. I'm waiting on this nightmare to be over. Supposedly, Cub Cadet is calling the service center to see how they can make this all right for me. I feel the only way to make this right is to offer me a replacement mower and take the crap I1046 that I have to the junk yard.

It had 29 hours on it when I disengaged the deck and the blades hit each other (off to the shop). They had it for about 6 weeks. Two hours after I get it back, it happens again (off to the shop for another 6 weeks). That was in 2010. In 2011 it happened again and they said they had a part to fix the problem. It was good for the rest of the year. This past Sunday it happened again (August 16, 2012). The 3-year warranty is up and Cub says, “Give us a chance to fix it.” I want a new mower deck without timed blades put on it at their expense, not mine.

What's worse is when you ask a dealer or someone, they somewhat get rude with you and act like I'm operating my mower in such a way it's my fault. It eats the belts or pops off! Today, I was cutting and the spring that moves the belt to make deck cut broke. I looked under and when I moved my hand on the bottom of the back fender, ripped it good. Where do I start? It has been horrible since day one; nothing but problems. I purchased the Zero-Turn Radius in September of 2009. It was fine until the end of the season and that's it. In June of the following year, the muffler fell off and said it wasn't covered because it rusted. I can't figure that one. Then in August, the mower wouldn't shut off. When I drove it on the trailer, the blade caught the floor and bent the shaft. They weren't going to cover it but eventually did; however, they didn't cover the blades. Then just now, the whole pulley system just dropped out the back. Of course now, it's out of warranty, but it is the part they repaired, which is obviously done incorrectly and you guessed it, they won't cover it. The other problem is their local dealer won't cover warranty work because I bought it at Home Depot and not from them. Their tractors are junk. Do not buy them! I purchased this Cub Cadet LT1045 lawn tractor in April 2008, from the Home Depot. First year, no problems. Second year, 2009, I noticed oil on valve cover. I called Cub Cadet 1-800 number and got list of service centers near me. I called all three of them, and they all said they did not do warranty service unless the tractor was purchased from them. I emailed Cub Cadet and they give me other service centers to contact, but they were 200+ miles away. I cleaned up the oil, but could not find the leak. I kept using the mower, but kept my eye on the oil level.
In 2010, the engine blew the exhaust manifold and the studs that hold it on, out of the block. I wear an iPod while I mow, so I did not hear what was going on, but my right leg started getting warm, and when I stopped the engine, I noticed the problem. It had also melted the right side of the plastic hood, and blew the muffler in to three pieces. I called Cub again, and got the same runaround. I rigged the muffler and manifold back on, and kept using it. In April of 2011, my engine put out a big puff of smoke, and started running really rough. All of the oil was blown out of the engine. I took the cover off of the flywheel, and there was the culprit. There were several bolts broken out of the sump closure plate, and the plate had lifted up and blew all of the oil out. The block has a crack about three inches long on it.
I called Cub one more time, same lame crap. I told them about the problem, and that my warranty was about up, and they told me to contact Kohler because it was engine related. I contacted Kohler, and lo and behold, Kohler only has a 2-year warranty on their 20 HP courage engines. Kohler rep told me to take the engine to one of their service centers, but when I did, the dealer told me it was out of warranty, and that I was crap out of luck.
I am still trying to get help with this junk, but to no avail. I am sick of this runaround. I think when someone has a warranty, then they should have to honor them, period, no matter where it was bought from. I paid $1,699 for this piece of junk, and I can't even use it. It used to look good until the hood melted. If the companies are not going to honor their warranties, then they should not be allowed to offer them. I had to borrow a mower from my brother to keep my lawn from becoming a hay field.
I know that this letter will do no good. It will probably be erased anyway and not even looked at, but I would like for all of America to know that Cub Cadet and Kohler produce junk, and will not stand behind their products. I do not want to sue anyone. I just want my mower to work the way a mower with only 74 hours on it should, or they can come and pick it up from my property, and get it out of my way. I have hauled this mower around enough. I will not even take it to the junk yard because I am so sick of it all.

Cub Cadet (Model i1046) riding lawn tractor purchased at Home Depot: The mower was "reconditioned" by Home Depot. The definition of reconditioned according to dictionary is to be made like new; however, the definition according to Home Depot is to change oil and fix anything they're aware of that's broken. When I first used it, the gear teeth for turning wheel broke. I had to return to Home Depot and they said it broke because it was loose. It was replaced without cost but I was without tractor for two weeks. If they had actually reconditioned it, as the true definition is, this wouldn't have been a problem. I have to constantly tighten these myself now or the wheel could lock up the gear break.
The model was advertised as a zero turn, but this isn't really accurate. I bought it because it had a steering wheel and was zero turn; the turn radius isn't really zero. The seat design is poor--issues include slippery seat that isn't adjustable for someone like myself who is only 5'4." With the seat fully forward, I have to push on the accelerator with my toes.
It has a poor accelerator pedal design. I am not sure why the pedal has a bump/ridge that I have to press on with a small flat spot North of that (maybe for a boot heel). In any case, I have to strap a hunk of wood on the pedal to help flatten it out and allow me to reach it without getting a backache from sitting crooked from reaching my right forward forward for the two hours it takes to mow.
It has a poor gas tank design. It's difficult to see the level in the tank since you have to fill from above and look at the tank view from the back. A simple float would've prevented this. Poor deck design--the contours of the deck are ideal for catching large amounts of grass and stuffing it all around the belts. Poor oil drain design--simple to open oil for drainage but there's no clear area for it to drain, so changing the oil is a big mess. Poor battery access design--now that I've started having electrical issues (see #11), I've realized that accessing the battery is very difficult because of the cowl directly over it that can't be moved.
The most recent issue is electrical--the engine wouldn't start without jumping battery, near the end of last year. I bought a new battery this spring but electricity is still not going through correctly. I don't know yet what's causing problem--ignition, starter, alternator?

I purchased a Cub Cadet Z-Force 48 Zero-Turn (Model ZF48 FAB) in February 2011 for personal use. To date, the mower has less than 40 hours of use. This machine has spent two months in the repair shop for multiple issues. The muffler bracket broke, bolts in the frame have broken, steering handle was loose, steering handle welds broke, problems in starting, solenoid currently being replaced, drive belt came apart, and the repair shop replaced belt and turned the deck crankshaft pulley upside down. That's right. The deck crankshaft pulley appears to have been put on backwards during factory assembly.
My Cub Cadet dealer has got the goldmine, while I'm left with the shaft. I can't expect market value if I tried to sell this mower with its history of problems; I'm obligated to disclose these events to a potential buyer. I asked the dealer who sold me the mower if Cub Cadet had a replacement program for lemon products. He told me that he was not aware of one. The best he could do was refer me to Cub Cadet's website for assistance on this issue.
So, to all of you stuck in the shaft with a Cub Cadet mower, I wanted to pass on some information about the Federal Lemon Law that I found online: The Magnuson-Moss Act is also known as the Federal Lemon Law. It is a very broad law that covers many types of products. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects consumers who purchase any product that costs over $25 and comes with a written warranty.
This can include an item as small as a radio and an item as large as an RV. The other caveat to the Magnuson Moss Act is that the product must be solely for personal use, such as a television or the vehicle that you drive to work. The Act does not apply to commercial use products, such as a roofers, work truck, or the professional landscaper's lawnmower. If your personal use product suffered a substantial defect while under the original manufacturer's warranty, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is similar to many states' Lemon Laws in many regards.
Happy mowing with something other than a Cub Cadet!

I've read all the complaints here. The belt won't stay on. The wheel had to be welded back on. The battery went bad. Mow thirty minutes, and work on it thirty minutes. Today, a blade came off during mowing. I've had it two years now, and I've actually spent more time working on it than mowing. How about we get together and file a class action lawsuit? Nothing else seems to be working. I got mine at Home Depot. I have complained to everybody at Home Depot with the same results as everyone else. I bought a weed eater a couple of weeks ago. If my warranty hasn't expired on it, I'm taking it back tomorrow.

I'll make this short, not sweet. You're so-called excellent Cub Cadet mowers are a joke. The very day my husband brought that scrap home, it broke down. The time it takes to get the parts or to put the parts on is time that he can be doing other much needed things, like spending time with his family and friends. In other words, I’ll cut weeds with a hand cycle again before we waste our money on another Cub Cadet or any mower made through you're company. Thank you for all the labor, pain, and suffering, and of course the money that we put into this piece of junk.

Well I have had this mower (GT1554VT) for 3 years and have replaced the deck belt 5 times. It just keeps throwing it! I have also noticed that Cub Cadet has changed the design. Instead of a one belt system, they have gone to a two belt system to run the PTO and one to run the deck. That tells me that they have seen that it was defective. I have contacted them hoping they have an update kit. No, they don't. I want to hear from other people who have this same problem.

The hydraulic pump went out on my Cub Cadet wood splitter after only about 25 hours of use. I have had this product for about 22 months and have kept it serviced properly. I contacted the company who pretty much contested my claim of time the unit was used and refused to help me in any way. I would think there would be at least some compensation to help with rebuilding the pump on the product due to the short length of time it was used.
I have found that the warranty on this product is as useless as the product itself. I have found out that the 2-year warranty pretty much only covers the frame after deducting the 1 year warranty on the actual moving parts (which makes no sense at all). If the company isn't going to stand by its product, then it's up to us as consumers to let them know that we aren't going to be subjected to false advertising on warranties that are worthless.

Telling the company to go ahead and fix it, I've been waiting 2 weeks for a belt that is on backorder and there's no telling when I'll get it. If it's not a warranty problem, then why can't anyone get their hands on a part for it? Apparently, for something that's not covered, the company must be having a problem keeping parts that must break a lot. I will never buy another of your products for the fact that this company does not stand behind an obvious flaw.

Approximately four years ago, I bought a Cub Cadet Super LT 1554. Up until this year, it has been the best mower I have ever owned. Of course there has been small problems like the starter, blade shafts, etc. But every year I turn it in during the winter to have it completely serviced by Pratt's Small Engine, Waynesville, Mo.
Late last year, it started throwing the belt that runs the blades. I replaced the belt. It threw the new belt ruining it. So I turned it in for its winter maintenance cycle informing the people at Pratt's what it was doing. Several months and $ 600 later, I went in to pick it up. Got it home, mowed one time before it threw the belt. I called Pratt's and the lady said, "You must have gotten into something heavy to stretch the belt". Not thinking that I did, I said OK and bought another belt ($60).
Same thing, I soon as I engage the blades, the belt comes off. I can not afford to rent another trailer to have this thing looked at again nor the labor cost they will charge me. I paid for it once to be fixed, they failed. What do I do?

I purchased a 2006 Cub Cadet GT1554. I do mow two whole flat acres and after 3 weeks from date of purchase, all tires went flat. I called Cub Cadet and filed a complaint. I had to call back and they lost the complaint. They even told me to call back on a later time! I since have busted all the tires twice and have little problems now.
Also, the mower deck water flush system clogged repeatedly on the first five mowings. I just gave up on using it.
On the first season I used it, the blade spindle grease zerts rusted and smelled. I have to breakdown the spindles to lubricate it. The next season, the deck spring loaded pins that hold the mower deck on, began to freeze in place. I now use ropes an levers to remove each time now. On third season, the left side mower deck support cable broke. I fixed it but is now broke again on it's fifth season with me. With it, the left-most blade pulley failed and I couldn't get a replacement. I just welded it back on. The pulley material failed after three mowings but my weld held. I was able to get a replacement pulley, which has a heavy duty spline spindle attachment.
Today, the steering bushing went out. It appears that I have to tear apart a lot of pieces to change this 4-dollar part!

I purchased a new (2006) Cub Cadet GT2554. First week, the battery went bad; the dealer did replace it. Third mowing session, the LCD control center on the dash finished working. The front mower deck pivot wheels occasionally fall off due to inferior design/weld. I've fixed them several times. The rear mower deck wheels ride on shoulder bolts which I've replaced several times. All the above items are trivial to me, but the biggest issue I have with this tractor is that the mower deck consistently clogs to the point (if you let it) of stalling the blades/engine.
I know what I'm doing: The blades are sharp, installed correctly, the grass isn't "wet" or too tall, the engine is at full throttle, the under deck has been cleaned and even polished and waxed, and the cut grass still builds up and stays for the ride. The only times that the grass doesn't build up is when either I'm not mowing or it is so dry it's yellow/golden (dying). Other than that, it pulls a garden cart as advertised. I also forgot to mention that the fiberglass hood mounts cracked so I operated it without the hood; which helps as the engine fan shroud clogs with grass clippings often so without the hood it is easier to clean. I'm sure you won't have any of the issues I've had, so go ahead and buy a Cub and have some fun.

We purchased a Cub Cadet lawnmower on May 10, 2011. We noticed it was not working right. We took it to a certified dealer for repair (Gilliam's US at 60 Ashland, KY). They had the lawnmower for around 4 weeks.
We did call about 3 and 1/2 weeks after they had it. My husband was so upset and they finally said they would look at the lawnmower and call back. They did tell us the transmission was defective and the blade was bent. When we called back, they had not touched or ordered the part. This was a week after our second conversation. They stated they work on lawnmowers purchased there first, so we would have to wait.
So I called Cub Cadet and opened a file. I was told by a supervisor that I should take it to Barker's Equipment in Wurtland, KY because they could not make an independent dealer work on the mower until they were ready. So on Monday, August 10, I picked up the lawnmower from Gilliam's and took it to another place for repair. We just wanted our lawnmower repaired.
The people at Barker's took the lawnmower and the next day, we were called and told that our lawnmower was repaired. They had overnighted a new transmission. We were unable to pick it up at this time so we picked it up the following day.
My husband returned home with the lawnmower. My nephew came to cut the yard. He had just gone two rows of cutting when I saw him jump and look funny. The blade flew off the lawnmower and hit his boot then bounced into the yard. I immediately ran to him. He had on steel-toed boots or we would have been at the emergency room. It put a deep nick in his boot.
When we started looking at the blade, it seems that a bolt broke causing the mower blade to fly off. We found the bolt and once again, I was calling Cub Cadet. I was immediately given to a supervisor. I was told to go back to Barker's Equipment.
So today, here we go again. The lawnmower we bought has been used very little this year. Maybe 6 times. I feel the lawnmower is unsafe and I am now wondering what will happen next. I am scared that next time someone will get really injured and upset that we don't have a working lawnmower. I feel that the lawnmower is defective and we should get our money back or a new one.

I bought a cub cadet in 2005 from a dealer in my area; that dealer is now out of business. I have had consistent problems with the mower deck. I have a 48" deck and I'm finding that I have to replace the belt on an average of every other time I mow my yard. It appears that the rollers in front and behind the deck are plastic and wear out very quickly. Thus, it is impossible to keep the deck leveled. I have had to replace the blade spindle and bearing assemblies more than once; the gear transfer rod at least once; all of the holes in the deck where screws come through the bottom to bolt on the various gear box assembly, belt pully covers, etc. were all worn out and now it appears the bracket that holds the gear box onto the deck is broken at the screw hole.
In my opinion, this is a cheaply built mower deck and has no business being on a mower at all. I am extremely frustrated and I only thought I had trouble with my previous Murray mower. As for the mower itself, I have had a few difficulties. Right now, the fuel line needs to be replaced. However, the line was apparently installed before the frame assembly was completely put together and the old line cannot be removed. I had it to a repair shop and they couldn't remove it either. As of now, the new line is being ran on the exterior of the mower, which is not safe at all. I also don't believe it should be necessary to have to remove the entire seat of the mower to be able to get to the top of the mower where the fuel line connects.

This review is for the LTX 1050 with the Kohler engine. I attempted to put this review on the Cub Cadet site however, the 72 hours they indicated that it will take for it to be posted has past; suggesting they bias their reviews by only publishing positive feedback. The following is from my submission:
"I purchased this mower from a local dealer/service center (Producers Co-Op) rather than buying it online or from a big chain so I could have it serviced where I bought it. After less than 2 months of use and 15 hours (engine time), it would not start (problem # 1). I tried a new battery but that was not the solution. The dealer suggested I bring it back. When I attempted to unlock the transmission to push it, it would not disengage (problem # 2). Since the instructions are clear not to push it without the transmission disengaged, I contacted the dealer to pick it up. They would not agree to pick it up unless I paid them $200.00 --this felt like extortion at this point since they knew I needed the mower and they are the "only game in town" for authorized service.
I contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute and there has been no response yet. They have until October to settle it and the season will be done by then. I have since rented a mower (not a cadet) to care for my property and I'm in the process of purchasing another brand of mower. I will be happy when I no longer have to look at this thing in my backyard. I am done with Cub Cadet."

The original steel base cracked at the areas where the base connects to the "L" brackets that hold the base to the frame. This is a dangerous condition, because when the areas in question gave way, the seat came loose as I was riding it. I nearly fell off the mower. A piece of heavy gauge steel less than 6 years old should not crack like that.
But considering MTD's reputation for using inferior grade steel (among other things), I shouldn't be surprised. The base is poorly designed to begin with. And the steel used is less than adequate for the job. Furthermore, I can't help but wonder how many other Cub owners have experienced this. And if so, has there ever been a recall issued? I'm not aware of one. For those of you who own the same or similar models, you might want to take a moment and check the seat base the next time you go to use the unit. I called HD and they sent a service tech with a replacement tire assembled on a new wheel. I describe the techs assistance as friendly and helpful.
Unlike the person who had the same machine bought in the same year and had problems now after only putting 50 hours on hers. I mow 4 acres, more than the machine is rated for, and over the time I had the mower I never once had a problem that I did not create. One spindle wore out, and likely it was that I didn't grease it that caused that! I put just under 300 hours on my 1045, and the deck belt came apart. Not bad performance on a used and likely somewhat abused machine.
So, I just went out and bought a Cub Cadet Tank, 48 inch deck and the 1045 is sitting in my barn waiting to be used for a back-up. If I do not need to use it in the next 2 months, I will sell it and I already have someone waiting to give me $450- for it. Great product! And to think I will sell it after all this time and use for more than 1/3 of what it cost me. Need I say more? The biggest issue I have found with these, and other similar products, is they are not used enough so they develop the "ethanol blues".

I got a new Cub 2550 garden tractor which worked okay. Then it hit a hole in my yard and the hood mounts snapped off and my hood needs to be replaced. It's under warranty with only 42 hours on it. Then the big roller in front of the deck fell off and I mowed over it bending one blade. This tractor is the biggest ** I ever had and the sales people at Kavolich in Greenfield, PA are worthless. It's like talking to the floor. Not once did they say sorry or anything! Just, 'thanks for the $3800' and 'see you, bye.'
I will never buy from this guy again. I will have kids and they will never buy there! I work 50 hours a week and have to put up with this when I come home.

In 2006, we bought a Cub Cadet LT1045. I always kept it garaged, clean and in good condition. Last year, it started having issues - leaking oil. So far, we had 50 hours on it. The oil leak got worse to the point that it wouldn't run. End result: I found out the block was cracked. I had contacted H.D., but no response. After using a push mower on 1.25 acres for a year, we must invest another $1400 in another mower (not a Cub Cadet, not at H.D.).

My wife and I purchased a new Cub Cadet 1050 from Home Depot approx. one year ago (2009). I purchased this brand thinking it would be better than the Murray brand we had previously owned.
What a disappointment. When we first got it home, I read the manual and followed pre-use directions. The mower would not start. Bad battery. One of the managers from Home Depot was good enough to exchange it out on his way home the following week. After cutting the yard 1/2 acre 5-6 times, the mower out of the blue refused to start. I have titanium in my spine and both knees have been replaced. I had to push the mower 1/2 acre up hill and then load it by myself to return it to the original Home Depot where it was purchased. Another Home Depot refused to take it back and stated it had to go to the original purchase location. (glad I haven't moved out of state)
After three weeks, the mower was returned. The next two mowings the mower started fine. Then it started taking longer to start the mower. After four more cuttings the mower has again refused to start. Again I had to fight this mower across 1/2 acre and load it to go back to the Home Depot where they say they will gladly return it to Texas for repair again. I told the store manager that I did not want it back. In 100 degree weather, pushing a riding mower that weighs a few hundred pounds with titanium knees isn't a lot of fun.
I then contacted the Cub Cadet home office customer service and spoke to a female there on 9/03/10. I told this female tech of what I had been thru and that I expected a full refund of my almost $2200 spent. I was told i would have to take that up with Home Depot. I further advised the tech that in my physical condition I couldn't keep pushing a riding mower around and needed something that I could depend on. She quickly informed me that all Cub Cadet would do is repair the mower while under warranty and that was it.
I then informed her that if I couldn't get a refund on my Lemon Cub Cadet 1050 that I would seek legal action if need be to get satisfaction.I further advised her that I recently came across several sites of unhappy angry customers on the internet that were very unhappy with the customer service and quality of Cub Cadet's products. I advised her that I might start my own page. The customer care tech informed me that I'd better watch what I print or Cub Cadet may seek legal action against me.
Please spread the word. MTD/Cub Cadet does not take care of the customer and will not stand behind their product. Now I understand why so many people are so upset and all should seek satisfaction in the courts.
Extreme back pain / leg pain from having to push this riding mower because of poor design.

In 2006 I bought a brand new Cub Cadet 1045lt. I have taken very good care of this lawn mower. Maintenance has been a top priority being done on more than a regular basis. I was hoping to get at least 15-20 years out of my Cub. I only got 4 seasons of light mowing. 2 months ago the mower started leaking oil and knocking. Soon the loss of power started. Come to find out that the block is cracked and there is damage that suggests that mower was started up without oil the first time. Thank you cub cadet who I thought I could trust. And thank you to Kohler for building such a fine engine with the nylon gears in it.

I bought a new Cub Cadet in April 2009, after my snapper rider finally rust out the deck and I could not get 1 bolt loose. So, I sold it for $150.00. Not bad after I had it for 15 years. Good reason to tell my wife that I needed a new tractor. I did my research and by far the Cub cadet ltx1040 auto, beat out the John Deere by far in turning and warranty.
Anyhow, my problem started when Home Depot delivered my tractor to my home, which I wasn't home yet and my wife signed for it. The first thing I did notice was the steering wheel was clocked 180 deg. off center. So I called and was told to return the tractor. I repaired it myself. I put the tractor in my shed, till the week-end so I could use it. When I was taking pictures of my pride and joy, I notice some hay were the drive belt and deck was. To my surprise, it was a bird's nest with 4 eggs in it. I pulled it out and put in a tree, but knew the fertile eggs would be dead. So, after driving the tractor for awhile, I always notice the toe was really cranked in on the front tires. My neighbor always made a comment about it.
I finally contact Cub Cadet corp, customer service, and Scott there was very helpful and sending me the procedures on aligning the front end (which I should have not had to do if it was set up right from the builders). After about 6 months, I really started to notice rust spots along all the welds. I started looking everywhere, under the seat, the deck, everywhere rust. I contacted Cub Cadet again, was instructed to take the tractor to get pictures taken from the repair shop. The mower shop took over 1 week to send the pictures. I was going back and forth with Cub Cadet, just to get some answers. Never have till this day still.
I called Home Depot corp office on Friday after noon, spoke to customer service and explained the problem. By Saturday, the manager of the store called and I explained everything and he gave me some options. I said, "best option was to return it and get full refund and your company can deal with Cub Cadet". He said, "No problem". I loaded the tractor up with my neighbors trailer and returned it. I was treated very good, I plan on go down tomorrow and buy a brand new one again. As long as your selling store takes care of you, it's not their fault when the tractor breaks. Happy Mowing!

In March 2010, I purchased a Cub Cadet LTX 1050 from Home Depot in Marion, IL believing this to be a top end product. I was severely mistaken. The first attempt to mow my yard resulted in the mower's transmission slipping and finally transmission went out on mower. I contacted Home Depot who did deliver another new LTX 1050. I mowed happily with the new second mower for about a month without a problem. Then it threw the deck belt which I put back on three times and it threw belt three times.
Home Depot told me to take my mower to the nearest warranty Cub Cadet dealer, conveniently located 80 miles round trip from my home. Three weeks later ,I pick up the mower and mowed my yard. The second I time I mow, it throws the belt again. I contacted Cub Cadet in Ohio and they tell me it is my fault (I explain I have 20 years of mowing experience) and insist that the deck level 8 out 12 is too low to engage the blade. I take it back to repair shop (80 miles round trip) and two week later, I get it back with a new belt. I mow the yard once and next time it throws the belt. Do we see a pattern? Cub Cadet should replace this mower with a mower that works or refund my money! I would like Cub Cadet to pay mileage for the 240 miles and reasonable compensation for my time to load and travel to the repair shop and travel home and return to the repair shop to pick-up and travel home and unload. Also, I need compensation to reimburse the individual providing me a mower to mow with that is a 13 year old craftsman outperforming a $2000 brand new Cub Cadet. I actually want amower that will be reliable and can mow my yard. I sincerely hope that some type of justice via this site will occur. Please contact me if more information is needed.

After all repairs, the mower would not ever start after it has warmed up. I dealt with it and just made sure I did not shut it off until I was done mowing, then the transmission went out after 5 uses. I took it to the repair shop and it sat for 2 weeks. Used the mower several more times and the transmission went out again. The mower has been worked on a total of 4 times for repairs like transmission and not starting.
This last time, the authorized service repair shop for cub cadet shop basically refused to repair it, and took the mower apart then lost several bolts than had me pick it and loaded it in my truck and said it was fixed, but they did nothing but change the spark plug, and the dam mower will not move with the self propelled. So I guess the transmission is still broken and they will not fix it, even though its still under warranty. So you know what I did? I took it back to Tractor Supply in the pieces that Phillips repair, the authorized service and dealer for Cub cadet left it in. After a full year of use minus repair time and told them to shove Cub Cadet up their ** and bought a John Deere.

We had the mower repaired under warranty. The first time we mowed after getting it back, it threw the belt at least 5 times. Now, it is in the repair shop again! We are paying for a $2000 mower and not able to use it as it has been in the shop for 2 weeks and now 1 more week. I have a Cub Cadet Lt1045 Lawn Tractor which is still supposedly under the manufacturer's warranty. The tractor was purchased at Home Depot in Midlothian, VA. It recently caught fire after a short term use of about 20 minutes. Cub Cadet refuses to fix, replace or reimburse for this because they are erroneously hiding behind a line in their warranty, which states they will fix it only if it is not subjected to misuse, abuse, vandalism, theft, fire, water, etc. In my opinion, it wasn't "subjected" to fire, but rather it "was" the fire!!! Poor design of where the exhaust and other hot engine parts combined with the cheaper plastic hoods of these machines are the cause of the fire and should be considered a manufacturer's defect! Serious injury could have occurred in addition to the property damage that has been done. Cub Cadet (MTD) does not stand behind their products! This was a $1700.00 tractor that should be expected to last longer than the 3 year / 120 operating hours warranty!

We bought a Cub Cadet 1050 Mower in Spring of 2010. Every time we have used it, it has shucked the deck belt at least once. It has become so aggravating, I am going to try to sell it for what I can and buy something worth while. I have never spent a more worthless 2000 dollars in my life. I will never buy a Cub Cadet product again.
We bought a Cub push mower a couple of years ago, and it is the most uncomfortable and tiring mower to use that I ever bought. However, it does start and work okay, so I can't say as much bad about it as I can the rider mower. I just wanted to warn everyone to stay away from Cub Cadet no matter what you hear, you will be dissatisfied. We went to buy a belt for it at Home Depot. They had 2 bins for the 50-inch belts. They were both empty. What does that tell you? The other belt bins at least had belts in them!

I am not and never will be a Cub owner. My friends on the other hand are, with regrets. For the past few weeks, I have been mowing their yard for them. Two of the three weeks, I have had to go get another mower to mow their yard. Their yard is somewhere around 4 1/2 to 5 acres and they have a zero turn with a 48 inch deck. The first time I went to mow, one of the front tires came off as I was going down a hill. The second time I used it, I mowed two 30 foot swipes and the belt burnt into. I felt bad about it until they informed me that it was normal that they broke them all the time and not to worry about it.
They got it fixed and I went out today and mowed it for the third time and actually mowed until I ran out of daylight, but as was I mowing, I happened to look over and I saw a metal pipe laying in the already cut grass. I got to looking and it was the exhaust pipe off the mower and the grass around it was black. Never a dull moment. Now let me tell you about fixing it, we decided since we had to put a new belt on it that we would go ahead and sharpened the blades. 3 hrs later we got the blades off and we were using an impact wrench. The dealership was the last ones to work on it.
The best part tho apparently the stupid thing does not throw grass out because I literally took my hands and scraped off a 5 gallon bucket of grass from the deck. I asked if they had bought a lawn mower or a vacuum cleaner. Anyways, it's a piece of work to say the least. Our advice to everyone, buy something else or if you get a Cub buy a goat to go along with it.

Purchased 2554 mower in April of 2007. Within the first two years, the hood kept popping off, violently, after being put in the shed. Several times the mower was taken in and different hoods were placed on. I sent a letter, concerned that at some time if the hood popped while I was driving it - my safety and health would be harmed. They considered to assure me it was safe and they would take care of me. Then, the front axle broke for no reason. Since, I have had problems with the front right wheel. The deck fell out when I put it in reverse. Then the deck was mowing lopsided.
The general manager, Dave C., at Culpeper Motor Corporation came to my house to pick up the mower to repair the deck. When I returned I found him mowing my grass and he said he fixed it with some wire he found in the yard. He also mentioned he had spilled the mower and thought I needed a larger mower. The mower never did mow correctly after that. Then in September of 2009, the front wheel broke. I called Mr. C. who informed me that the business was being moved. He asked for my patience and promised to make me happy by refunding me my money or getting me a new machine. A great deal of correspondence had been written and I was given assurances that they would make it right.
By November, Mr. C. was refusing to take my calls and I had to call Vince A. of the Cub Cadet Manufacturer. Mr. C. then called and said he understood I was to get my mower picked up. He picked it up in November of 2009. I hadn't heard anything and by January showed up at his new address to make certain my machine was still in his possession. He then made an offer to repair a long list of items (I never have received a letter in response to my repeated requests to return the machine to the manufacturer - as required by Cub Cadet that the dealer write). I did not want that. The machine was constantly breaking down. I no longer trusted that the machine was quality (which I was told it was - and which is why I paid $4,000) instead of $2600 at Home Depot.I relied on the assurances of the sales person, and Mr. C. He promised me several times that he would make me happy and refund or replace the machine.
Then, suddenly, he changed his story and offered to repair it.
In April, he sent a letter stating that the damage was due to operator error. He insisted that I sign the letter and return it to him. I wrote certified letters to the old company (since he told me he received mail from there), and also phoned him. He denied receiving the letter I wrote asking him to return the machine and wanting a refund. Mr. Dave C. of Cub Cadet Culpeper has been wrongfully withholding my 2554 Cub Cadet for 9 months. November 2009 through August 2010. He has now spoken to a friend and threatened to have the mower impounded and stated he would sell it at an auction. My mower had 95 hours on it. It was kept in a shed and was in pristine condition, except for the manufacturing defects which caused items to break frequently.
Mr. Dave C. is using unfair business tactics, has fraudulently made promises that he has not kept, has attempted to sell me a higher quality mower after I was told the mower I had was sufficient for my needs. Mr. C. has refused to provide written evidence of the numerous repairs. Came to my house and trespassed by mowing my lawn and stated he had "flipped" the lawn mower. Now, Mr. C. is insisting on making me sign a document that will release Cub Cadet from its manufacturer's warranty obligations and is withholding my machine until I sign his letter.

The next time we used it, the deck belt popped off again. We called Home Depot and spoke to Cindy, a manager, and she said that I would get a call the next day. However, a week passed and we never received a phone call. We had a family affair at our house so we had to fix the belt and cut the grass, which by the way is an acre of land. The following week, yes, you guessed, it the belt popped off again.

When I read your Cub Cadet stories, I realize that not only I have a great dislike for Cub Cadet Lawn Tractors. In 2002, I purchased a brand new 2000 Series Cub Cadet lawn tractor from a reputable tractor dealer. It was very expensive, but I wanted a shaft drive model and not always worry about belts. The mower deck however is still belt driven with 2 belts. Unfortunately, when using the thing, within the very first 10 minutes the deck drive belt broke. The dealer gave me a new belt without charge and I installed it. It was quite a bit harder to do than I thought. I ran it about 45 minutes and parked. Next day, shortly after starting to mow, the same belt broke again. This time, I had to pay for it. The discount for parts, promised by the salesman, was not honored.
Upon inspecting the deck carefully, it revealed a misaligned (bent) idler pulley, which with its sharp rim cut the belt under load. A few months later, the paint started to flake off the engine cowlings on both sides. The dealer replaced them under warranty. Not much later, the paint on the hood came off and started rusting around the edges. The dealer replaced the hood.
Every time the dealer got involved, it took weeks to get the machine back. Then 2 of the blade spindles had to be replaced (by myself), a spring broke on the deck mechanism and then a tension arm on the deck broke off. The mower really did a lousy uneven job and everything had to be mowed twice. The motor would not stop running after the ignition was turned off and kept on dieseling and back firing.
The cut-off jet in the carburetor was found to be faulty. Then when it ran erratically, the dealer claimed water was in the carb and charged $98.00 for carb kit and fuel filter. Next, the spindles, made of cheap pot metal, were deteriorated to the point where they all needed to be replaced. Electrical problems were numerous. Last year, I replaced the entire deck because I was tired of replacing spindles and linkages again. The steering is so hard that I wonder what's going on there. Yesterday, the mowing deck stopped again because the electric clutch will not engage.
Since we had the mower, it has required more work, more annoyance, produced more choice vocabulary and brought more surprises than any other piece of equipment I was ever fortunate to own and use. This Cub Cadet was and is an ongoing nuisance. The only reason we still have it is that I paid so much for it that I am a pretty fair mechanic and can't afford another one.
The only good thing in my favor is that I personally can and will do most of the repair work. We have a Honda mower, which starts every time, cuts real smooth and is very easy to operate. Bottom Line: No, I would never buy another Cub Cadet. Take heed, do your homework, find a mower with a good track record, foreign made if necessary. You know, they did show the big three how to make reliable cars. Stay away from Cub Cadet!

It is blowing oil out of the reservoir under the seat. Every year we have to spend $300.00 or more to begin the mowing season. This year, we have had to replace all the spindles and belts again.
For the price we paid for this mower, we thought this would be a better product than this. This mower has been a lemon since the day we bought it. They are saying it is going to cost $795.00 per side to replace the transmissions and for what we have paid for this mower, it should have lasted a lot longer than this, and that is not counting labor. I just discovered that the engine is a 20 HP per the Kohler specification listed on the engine. The Cub Cadet specification has the maximum deck size as 48 inches for the 20 HP engine. I also just determined that there is a class action suit for which I might be compensated up to $75 if I filed.
I now have a mower with a failed engine and a mower deck over rated for the engine should I have it repaired. Damages consist of: (1) Paying extra for a 22 HP engine- estimate in order of $1000. (2) A failed engine based on upgrading to a 50-inch deck upon recommendation of Cub Cadet, in order of $2300 for new engine and labor. (3) A new deck I cannot use unless the engine is upgraded to 22 HP, in order of $1000. (4) Loss of use of mower, $100 per month. (5) Loss of personal well-being and time as a cancer patient in having to deal with this intentional action by a major corporation; up to $10,000 per month from today until resolution.

I sent a similar email on May 25th 2010 to this MTD products technician and received no response! I'm the owner of a 5000 Series Cub Cadet Tractor 5234D which has problems with two transmission gears. The tractor has had a new service kit installed back in July 2007, which was supplied by Cub Cadet and four hours of labor support. I paid the balance for that repair. Now, item #5, the 13 Tooth Spiral Bevel Gear (30Rc strength/hardness) is ruined with the teeth worn down like it had slipped on. Item #9, the 54 Tooth Spiral Bevel Gear (52Rc strength/hardness) is also ruined with some teeth worn and chipped at the edge. Has Cub Cadet made any changes to either of these gears since the December 14, 2006 Service Kit? I don't feel that the gear strengths are of the right steel strength/hardness for this model tractor. I said I would be willing to send him the affected parts for his personal inspection or email photos whichever he would like to look at this problem.

I got a new Cub heavy duty 2550 lawn tractor. It has a very poor design. When you change the oil, it runs all over top of deck and motor plate. The hood broke and fell off after 1 year. The deck has 3 big holes to create a vacuum to cut grass better, so they say all this dose makes a big mess all over the mower, dumb idea tractor. It is hard to turn. It needs power steering. The tires are too small. The tractor will beat you to death on rough ground. All in all don’t buy one. You will be sorry.

I bought a Cub Cadet LT 1042 in 2004 from Lowe's. The tractor has been in storage for 3 years. Again, I have a large yard so I started using the tractor again. After 4 mows, the cable that engages the blade broke. This is the third cable I have replaced. I have had the mower serviced every year that it was used at reputable mower repair shops. From day one, this mower has been in the shop. The shop could not get the parts (and this was an authorized repair shop). I want to know if anyone else has had problems with the cable that engages the blade. Does anyone know what this part is called? I am going to try to fix it myself.

On April 6, 2010, I purchased an LTX 1040 Cub Cadet from the local tractor supply store. From the first time I mowed with it, it was apparent that something is not right in the front end. When getting to the end of my row and making my turn to come back, the outside steering tire digs into the turf and tears the grass out. No matter how wide I swing or how slow I go it still happens. The manager at TS said they would do whatever was necessary to make it right with me but that turned out to be not true. I took the mower to the authorized repair dealer in Zanesville and he took it out in the grass and came back and said "There definitely is something not right."
He called MTD and was told that they hear that complaint every spring. Another repair shop in Ashland was called and he stated "It is what it is.” I mowed with a Snapper for 27 years and never had any major problems. Unfortunately, MTD now owns Snapper so no doubt their quality is gone. As you can tell from all the other complaints if you buy any MTD product, you are asking for serious financial setbacks.

I bought a C.C. SLT1554 in May of 08. At 2.5hrs the drive belt came off. Dealer picked it up and fixed it under warranty, then later that first year, I had to have the most of the mower deck replaced not under warranty spindles, blades, belt etc. Last year, I had it in the shop again for some motor warranty work. Now this year about a week out of warranty (which the sales man told me I had a 3 year 120 hour warranty), service tech said I only have a 2 year warranty. Anyway now with 92.5 hrs, the tractor will not start. The motor started making some crazy grinding sounds. I shut it off and it will not start now. I have kept up with all the recommended service on the tractor, oil changes, fuel filter, air filter.
I thought I was buying a good American made tractor from a local dealer not a "Big Box store". The dealer has been nothing but an A**hole. I threatened to sue, but unfortunately I can't because most of the problems have been covered under warranty and it hasn't been a repeated problem just several different ones. And I was told from a lawyer that I can't sue because the value of the tractor is under $5k. So I'm screwed to say the least. Now I am borrowing my neighbors 25 year old John Deer until this is fixed. I am currently looking for a old used tractor that will be cheaper than getting this fixed.

I have a total of 11 hours on my Cub Cadet LTx1040 purchased from Tractor Supply Company in Newberry, SC. First incident, I was cutting, and then suddenly, a loud clanging sound was heard. So I disengaged the blades and stopped cutting. The blades did look rough but not on the blade where you would expect if you were hitting things but on the ends of each of the blades.
I purchased another set of blades at $58 at TSC. I cut the yard for at 1/5 hour, and again, clanging started. This time, I put on ramp and found bolt loose, so I tighten back off ramp, engaged blades, and again, I heard clanging. So I pulled back on ramp, and to my surprise, the entire blade had come off. The repair place had it over a week and charged $297 and said it was not covered under warranty.
I've written 2-3 emails to Cub Cadet with no satisfaction, and they denied any responsibility. I was told by the repair person that with timed blades, you cannot hit a rock a stick anything. First off, I live in a rural area, so periodically that's going to happen, I feel, wherever you live; but I know I did not hit anything at the time both of these incidences happened. I don't have another $1500 (barely had it once) and can't pay $300 for repairs every time. So now what do I do? I asked Cub Cadet if a different deck could be put on this mower, but they literally offered nothing.

I purchased a Cub Cadet SLT 1550 from Home Depot in the fall of 2007. I used the mower in '08 and '09 and now with 90 hours total time (having performed all the maintenance per the owner's manual), the steering stopped working. The problem is that the pedal bracket for the steering rod to pass through is supposed to be stamped to receive a hex-shaped washer, a wearing guide perhaps. My mower's part is not stamped and does not have an area to receive such a washer.
I emailed the factory and received the standard "We don't have any issues like that; therefore, it isn't our fault" answer. I took the deck back off and now have photos showing the erosion of the plate. The photos clearing show there is no notch for the hex-shaped washer to be installed. I have the know how and ability to fix this issue with or without their help but I have had it with paying retail for worthless patronizing service support. Where was the quality control at the end of the shift when there were left over parts from that station?

Broken spindles even though they were lubed regularly, 4 belts in that time, and the deck supports pulled thru the deck. Was told by the company rep I talked to that it was a covered item. I took it to the Cub Cadet Repair center. They had it for 3 weeks. I went to pick it up and was told that it wasn't covered by the warranty and they fixed it at my expense.
Over $800 for repairs to a tractor that was less they 2 years old and was supposed to be the "Cadillac" of mowers and "Heavy Duty". The Craftsman tractor held up better in 15 years then this did in 2. When I questioned the service manager about why I wasn't informed it wasn't under Warranty before repairs and that they are ripping me off, he jumped over the counter, poked me in the chest and told me to pay or I don't get my mower back. When she tried to stop the lawn mower, she pushed the brake on the mower that turned into a gas pedal. The harder she pushed on the brake pedal, the faster the lawn mower went. She went through her flower bed, hit her car, bounced off of the car, and went through another gate. After she went through this gate, she hit a chain link fence.
When she hit the fence, the hood on the mower lifted up and she hit the hood when she was lifted off the seat by the impact. The mower went through the fence but got caught up in the fence so it could not go any further. The mower was still running even after she left the seat from the impact. She had reached down and manually turned the key off to the mower to stop. She went to the Mercy Hospital Clinic in New Philadelphia, Ohio. The doctor stated she had muscle bruising and whiplash to the neck and back. She was put on three different kinds of drugs for the pain. Her blood pressure was also very high and she was in bed from Friday when it happened until Monday. We also have to replace the section of chain link fence that was damaged when the mower went over it.

Where I purchased it, they do not do repairs. I called Cub Cadet. They told me to go to the nearest dealer, which was 35 miles away. By the way, there is another dealer close to me, but they only repair Cub Cadets sold by them, not other dealers.
I called the repair dealer and was told it may take a month or two to repair as they do all their work on the equipment they sell. They will get to mine when they have a chance. Also, the mower is supposed to start on 2 or 3 pulls, mine can be hard to start sometimes. I didn't tell them that as I don't know when I would get it back. I told them to get me the part and I will change it. I can't wait that long to get it back. I tried to call Cub Cadet and tell them of my problem, but I could not reach anybody there except a lady who told me where to take it. I asked to be transferred to someone or a phone number to call. She would not give me either, just a runaround. She just said, "Bye and have a nice day." This warranty isn't worth much. I think these mowers are junk. This mower was not cheap. I am writing about my dad's Cub Cadet LTX1045 problems, which are also mine. He bought the mover during the Fall of 2007, when it was on sale at Home Depot. I can see why it was now. In Fall 2007, before they put up the stock of lawn mowers, he made the purchase and started using the mower in the Spring of 2008. I have replaced the belt for my dad 6 times now - twice in the last 2 months alone! That does not come close to the amount of times I have had to put the belt back on during his mowing sessions! This season, it slips off about 2 times per mow!
I was originally thinking it was just the one individual mower that was a lemon (just my dad's). Imagine my surprise when I came across this web page!? Hearing everyone else's complaints with their Cub Cadets, I can see it won't help, nor be any use to try to get help or satisfaction through the parent company nor through the dealer of this defective product. The warranty obviously isn't worth the paper it is written on, when it should cover any major defects within the first 2 years of operation.
Constant and continuous belt and timing issues are major problems. You shouldn't need to worry about anything having to be repaired, when you spend the kind of money Cub Cadet charges for their products. I am going to try to talk my father into going public with this problem, if he doesn't get anywhere with his complaint to Cub Cadet, to which I am not expecting a thing to happen after reading others complaints.
If this many people are reporting having the same problems - think of how many people are not reporting their problems at all! They are just continuing to pay out and pay out... just like my dad has. My mother and father should be using their retirement money on something other than replacing belts at $100.00 a piece. He has 30 acres of land that he mows and needs to be able to count on his mower to not fail him at 68 years old.

It came with a 3-year, 120 hr warranty. The deck spindles began getting louder and louder even though I greased them upon the owner’s manual recommendation for every 25 hours. Home Depot did not tell me that the local Cub Cadet dealer will not work on anything they did not sell. So I had to rent a trailer worth $25.00 to haul the mower 30 miles one way to a dealer who would do warranty work.
After 2 weeks, the dealer called and said he had to replace 5 bearings in the spindles and Cub Cadet would not cover the bearings under warranty. I had to pay $114.00 for the bearing replacement and rent the trailer again to go pick up my mower. I am very disappointed with Home Depot and Cub Cadet that I will not buy from them again. I do not recommend Cub Cadet Products if this is the way they treat their customers. This will eventually catch up with them. In the meantime, avoid Cub Cadet Products. I could not get it started on April 1 after having mowed with it for over an hour. I called and talked to a service technician at 4:50 PM at Tedder Equipment and he told me everything seemed to be in order, it just wouldn't start, however, they were closing for the holidays and would reopen on April 5. It did start about three hours later.
Today, April 8, I mowed the same lawn, 1-2+ hours, cut the mower off, it would not start. Pushed it on the trailer, took it to Tedder Farm Equipment and ask if someone could take a look at my mower (it was outside and would not start) to see if they knew why it would not start. I was told no, because they were too busy and had too many Cub Cadet work orders, (they proceeded to show me and the other customers in the sales room, the stack of work orders they had the reason they could not pull someone off their work). Okay, what better way to know the problem, if your mechanic is going to work on it, than to see it at its worst?
Well, I was told (several other customers in the sales room) to take it home, check the spark plug, check gasoline, etc. I purchased the mower from Tedder Farm Equipment because they advertise “SALES-PARTS-SERVICE”. Little to know that service only means, at the time you buy, not after you leave the store with your equipment. I find it hard to believe that anyone could complain about having too much work during these hard economic times. You might as well buy a mower from Home Depot, because service doesn't mean anything anymore, not at Tedder Farm Equipment. I am nobody, however, I am a Cub Cadet owner.

They say it has water in it from condensation. Hydro-Gear, who makes this transmission, told me today that the transmission is built to Cub’s specs, is sealed and builds up condensation as part of the natural design of the product. There is nothing that can be done about it and that it is excluded from warranty. Checking forums nationwide, you’ll find 100s of people in the same situation. So, therefore, Cub has built a known flawed design, excluded the flaw from warranty and then they rip you off for $900 to repair it. Now, that is a scam and I believe it’s an illegal action.
Cub owners need help on this. Mine is in the shop now for over 4 weeks trying to get this resolved. What happens is that it will work fine for 30 to 45 minutes and then when it heats up generally, the left transmission will suddenly stop, causing the mower to spin in a counter clockwise circle and hit anything in its path. It is unsafe to operate due to the unknown timing and action of this occurrence and the repair costs $900, even when under warranty.

8/3/2009 - Where to begin, first is to warn all future Cub Cadet Purchasers! To start out, we have an acre of land so we decided to purchase a 42' Cub Cadet on May 14, 2006. We have had nothing but problems since we bought it from the Tractor Supply Company. The first time we had a problem with this Cub Cadet lawn mower was on July 31, 2006, yes less than 2 1/2 months after purchasing (just the beginning). The problem was blowing smoke and oil from the front part of the motor, then backfiring and killing grass. After not having a lawn mower for approximately 3-4 weeks and making other arraignments to cut our grass, we got it back. The repair shop said it was supposedly fixed by changing the valve cover gasket, yea right.
The second time it there was a problem was on May 12, 2007 and it just so happened that it was blowing oil and smoke, backfiring and still killing grass. Now 2 times in a year, we had it "serviced" again for the same problem less than a year before. Again, the lawn mower was gone for approximately 3-4 weeks and again it was supposedly fixed by changing the valve cover gasket, yea right. Now mind you we live in Ohio and you can only use the lawn mower roughly 5-6 months out of the year so having less than 60 hours on this Cub Cadet mower and the second time in for same problem.
Okay, so now for the third time would be November 5, 2008! Once again for the same problem plus one more issue: now not starting and blowing smoke and oil, backfiring, killing grass. So they changed the valve cover gasket (again) and starter-alternator. Once again, they said it was fixed after being gone and making other arraignments to cut our grass, we got it back for 3-4 weeks. This was all within having less than 100 hours.
Now for this last time June 24, 2009. Our extended warranty ran out on May 14, 2009. But of course having less than 15 hours since it was "repaired or fixed" again, it started to blow smoke and oil, backfire and kill my grass, we had to call the extended warranty center, National Electronic Warranty. They were aware that our warranty ran out, but they authorized a service center to pick up our mower and started to repair it. Well, after not hearing from the service center for over 2 weeks, I called to get an update. They told me that they had been trying to contact N.E.W. for 2 weeks but could not get a response to get the okay to fix the Cub Cadet lawn mower.
I called N.E.W. myself and told the story that the service center was not getting a response. Basically, I was called a liar until the phone rep called the service center direct. They couldn’t explain why no response was being given so he passed me on to a supervisor. The next day, the service center received an e-mail that said extended warranty expired, bill customer! Now N.E.W. knew that the warranty expired but authorized everything anyway. We have been in contact with Cub Cadet and Kohler directly. Of course they kept passing it off to the other person. Kohler’s solution to it blowing 4 valve cover gaskets in 3 years was to change the valve cover because it could be warped. Well, I'm not a mechanic but I would think if it was warped, it would leak all the time.
Cub Cadet has been helpful but still cannot tell me why it is killing my grass. The answer to why the mower was killing the grass to the service center when they called MTD and Kohler was “It is what it is. Don’t let the lawn mower set on the grass.” Now I don't know about anyone else but we did not pay $1600+ to have a lawn mower kill spots in our yard. Not acceptable! So since the mower has been gone since June 24, 2009 and making other arraignments to cut our grass. All we were asking was a replacement mower or our money back, but both still to no avail.
This has been a very long ongoing problem that is extremely frustrating. Nobody is willing to say “we see you have a problem” (same problem at that) what can we do to resolve this problem. Just a warning, “Do not buy Cub Cadet.” They do not stand behind equipment. If so, then I would think we would have had a new lawn mower or repair correctly by now! We liked the lawn mower but just not all the problems that came with it.
It is still in the shop and they cannot figure out what is wrong with it. I have to say Scott has been great. The problem is nobody can figure out what is wrong and not willing to give a replacement. Consequences: out of three mowing seasons we have had to borrow a mower almost one.

After calling the "support line" who basically asked me if there was gas in it, they referred me to the local authorized service center. This guy has had my mower for 3 months and claims to be "waiting on a part." If he is the authorized service provider for Cub Cadet, shouldn't he stock the parts to fix them? I can't find a number for Cub Cadet anywhere that isn't just an automated hotline, and emails weren't responded to. Cub Cadet obviously doesn't back up their products, and isn't concerned about the problems their customers may have - very disappointing.

I bought a Cub Cadet weed trimmer and an extended 2-year warranty. I used it maybe 5 times before winter. The first time we used it in spring it worked once and then started running backwards. We took it to the nearest repair shop. They laughed at us and said no way it could run backwards. I keep it for several weeks. On the invoice, it said it ran backwards and had wear and tear, causing the bushing to wear - after 6 uses? They charged us $40.59 for a 1/2 hour labor. What good is a warranty if you have to pay so much to get it worked on? You could buy several cheap one each year and come out ahead. We live on a small fixed income. That amount really is a lot to us. We had to wait on some of our medication to pay the bill. We won’t buy anymore Cub Cadets of any kind.

Had my 4600 Cub for one season. The belt slipped off the mowing deck. I had a friend replace it after calling two dealers 23 miles away. Being 75 yrs old with crippling arthritis in hands and fingers, I asked the dealers when they could put new belt on. Both said it would be two weeks before they would be able to touch it. Within two weeks, the belt broke and was screeching and smoking. I'm going to call tomorrow to see how long it will take to replace the belt, again. Being 75 yrs old, I cannot waste what little time I have left playing games with repair people for a junkie mower. I had three Murry mowers bought from Walmart and had very little trouble other than maintenance with them. All lasted ten or more years. Just grease the bearings in the blades and you have no troubles. I cannot find anyone to mow my two acres which will require a bush hog soon and bale the hay.

The 2005 Kohler engine in my Cub Cadet LT 1050 riding lawn tractor caught fire when I turned the ignition off and burned the air filter, filter cover and all the hood components in less than a minute. I believe the green material around the air filter ignited the plastic cover which caught the rest of the mower in flames. Luckily, I was returning with the water hose to clean the mower before returning it to the garage. The engine and all plastic components were destroyed. Kohler has since redesigned the engine.

On May 5, 2009, I purchased a Cub Cadet riding mower from TSC, Purcell, OK. The mower was delivered on May 7 and ran beautifully. After running it 6 hours and burning 3 tanks of gas, on May 23, the mower died after going about 4 feet and it refused to start again. When I bought the mower, I was assured that the business that does the warranty work, if any was ever needed, would pick up the mower and return it after any repairs were completed. But, we may have to pay them a fee for the service, as we have no means of hauling the mower and my husband is a truck driver and away from home much of the time.
We were advised to contact Metro Turf Outdoor Power Equipment in Norman, OK for service. They are located less then 20 miles from our home, but they refused to pick up the mower, even for a fee. A week later, after my husband got home from a run, he and a friend were able to get the mower in for repairs. Before they even looked at the mower, the service person stated the it was either "bad" gas or the spark plug! Now, how was he so sure of that? The young man who had looked at the mower stated that he hadn't seen any water in the fuel when he checked it.
On June 13, when the mower was ready to be picked up, we were presented with a bill stating that there was excessive water in the fuel, necessitating draining the fuel system and cleaning the carburetor which had corroded. Since the warranty did not cover this problem, we were charged $72.02 for the service. They also were very rude and treated my husband in a condescending manner. My husband is a "farmboy" and has a working knowledge of small engines, but since the mower was under warranty, he did not touch it. Oh, by the way, Metro Turf also sells Cub Cadet mowers.

I purchased a Cub Cadet self-propelled mower, model 18M from Home Depot last summer after talking to the salesman at the store. He was impressed with the mower and it came highly recommended from him (I can't believe I fell for that!). The first thing I noticed was that the bag attachment was very difficult to attach to the mower and difficult to empty. The hole the grass blows into was small and constantly clogging up. To empty it, you had to unzip the back of the bag, turn it upside down and shake it, a lot! I mowed the lawn about 4 times last summer before it started sputtering and then it would not start.
I called Home Depot and told the customer service person the problem. To my surprise, she did not have anything good to say about the mowers (Where was she when I was purchasing the thing!). I was told that they would send it in to Cub Cadet. She said that the mower would take 4 to 6 weeks to repair, which means no mower for the rest of the summer. I had decided to send it in since it was still under warranty until I was told by Home Depot that Cub Cadet would perform $80 worth of work on it before I would be notified and I would only be called if the expenses went over that amount. I informed the clerk that I did not want to spend any more money on it and for the amount of time I had it, the warranty should be good or the mower should simply be replaced.
I was again told that Cub Cadet would not simply look at it and only fix what was covered by the warranty; they would do $80 of work and then call if there were additional expenses. I refused to send it in under those conditions and Home Depot refused to replace it with another mower. I will include the fact that my neighbor also bought the same mower. What a surprise it was when her mower did the exact same thing right before mine did. When she told them to send it in for repairs, a salesperson at Home Depot replaced it for her with a new mower. I guess, 2 weeks later, when mine broke down, they had probably had others returned and would not replace them any more.
I decided to have the lawn mower looked at by someone else. Sure enough, it was the carburetor that was bad. The cost to fix it? To my surprise the part cost $80, just the amount of work they would do before they would call me. What a coincidence!
I will never again buy any Cub Cadet product. From my experience, the products are extremely poor quality and the warranty was a worthless piece of paper. I purchased a Troy-Bilt lawn mower this year (nice unexpected expense!) from Lowes. The good news is that it always starts on the first or second pull (so far) and runs beautifully. The rear bag attachment is very easy to attach and detach with a wide opening that does not get clogged up and is easy to empty. I only wish I had purchased it last year instead of the Cub Cadet.

In Aug. 2007, we bought a Cub Cadet 23HP Z-Force 50 Riding Mower. Its cost was $3,800. We purchased the mower new for our local TSC store. It has a 2-year warranty. This mower has a stamped deck and it is the problem. We have mowed the same property for over 30 years and never had this sort of problem with any mower we have had. It's inevitable that you will hit things when you mow, and the very first time we used this mower, the front wheel bent, breaking the weld. Eventually the finger guard broke. Paint is popping off all over the deck. The real problem is this is too much mower and too little deck.
I think Cub knows that as they now have a welded deck with this mower. Assuming the warranty would cover the repairs, we took the mower to a local dealer, only to find out Cub would do nothing, wear and tear. I've had new cheap mowers over the years and the decks lasted longer than the tractor itself! I mow 2 acres of yard. It's not a field or pasture; it's my yard. So I wasn't any harder on this mower than I've been on any other one we owned. We thought spending this kind of money on a mower was a good move, but we could go through 2 new John Deere's for the price we paid for this one that is already falling apart.

The muffler heat is so great it is getting the steering shaft very hot, and that makes it hard to steer. Can you help with this? I talk to Cub Cadet about this and they said they have not heard of any other report about this.

8/12/2007 bought a brand new Cub Cade mower Model I1050. I paid $3708.94 used it 3 times uring the next two months and the bottom part containing the blades collapsed. I Took the mower back to Tractor Supply. The repairs according to terri, manager were caused by me and not by the poor manufacture of the product. After numerous calls and discussions I decided to pay for the repairs.
On January 19, 2008 I drove from Miami to Ft myers to pick up the mower. I paid $ 802.61, when I reached my destination, the mower would not start. I inmediately took it to tractor supply and once again spoke with Terri, manager, he agreed that there was something terribly wrong with the machine, it would not go into gear and even Terri had to use his equipment to take it down. He was going to work on refunding my expenses.
It's been 6 weeks, everytime I call I am told that he is working on it. In the meantime I have spent $4511 and I do not have a mower. I have been cheated, the product is deffective and I am not getting any resuls please help

This spring I bought a Cub Cadet i1050. It cost about $4000.00. this is my warning! Stay Away!!! I have had mine for about 3 months. I cannot turn left. The right transmission does not work. If I use my e brake and then disengage and try to drive the right transmission will lock up solid leaving the left wheel spinning. It is at the shop again! The E brake is very difficult to use and will not stay on if the motor is running, the vibrations knock it off. My wife and son are unable to engage the e brake as well as the employee who loaded the mower into my trailer.
Mine came from the dealer with many loose or missing bolts. The wire for the pressure switch on the seat is also the washer for the pivot and will only last about 10 hours. The tires are very thin, I was getting flat tires every time I mowed. That was solved by tire slime. My left axle was bent, and replaced by the factory. I cannot go up a grade (unloaded)that my 2004 Craftsman 5000 could do with a trailer full of firewood. I cannot pull my lawn sweeper with more than 5 of grass in it. When I am driving, it sounds like tin cans are bouncing around inside the transmission.
The worst part is that Cub Cadet doesnt seem to care. All complaints must be submitted in writing (been doing that). I have spent many many hours on the phone trying to talk to people. The say that I need to go through my dealer, he is their customer service. My dealer says he cannot get them to replace it or refund me, he wishes me luck. He is now talking about trying to get cub to replace the one tranny, I am concerned about the other tranny getting week from overcompensating.
I have dealt with these problems since new and wanted to wait until winter to get them fixed, unfortunately they kept getting worse. It is in the shop now for the 3rd time in 6 weeks. Since I bought this tractor I have put 41 hours on it and put 150+ hours on my father-in-laws mower. I challenge you to call cub cadet and try finding their customer service before you ever buy any of their products.

After having an ordeal with John Deere not backing their Kohler engine mistakes, I turned to Cub Cadet compact tractors and bought a model 5234D with mower deck and blade for approx. $14,000.00 (not cheap) Anyway, the safety switch that shuts off the mower deck if the tractor rolls, quit working the first day that we got the tractor. Not even into less than 7 working hours, the tractor gas pedal went to the floor and the tractor rolled backwards all the way down a hill with my 13 year old son on it!
We got to use this tractor 3 times and it is sitting in the shop. Nobody has called us, we have made repeated calls as well as trips down to see what is going on, in spite of all of their 'promises' to call us and keep us informed. I am furious at the treatment as soon as the money is doled out and the payments come in, the dealer is like, see ya........after repeated attempts to call in a complaint, I find out that troy built, cub cadet, yard man are all made and distributed by MTD products. There is NO phone number for customer service, either on line or in their manuals.
My husband and I are in the process of leaving the tractor at the dealers and dissolving this whole business before I pay it off and have the mess that I had with John Deere and kohler engines. Is there any mowers/plow tractors worth buying other than resorting to 30,000.00 full size commercial equipment? I am tired...........
