Seems good for security purposes and customer service is good… until you try to cancel. They tried to charge me for a whole other month even when I called before the billing cycle ended to cancel. I was moving and about to deploy so had to cancel my account and they wanted to completely remove my lifetime warranty. Their cancellation policies are poor, and I’ve never seen anything like it. Luckily, after pushing, the customer service was able to help me out, but I doubt they do that very often.

I canceled this account when I moved over a year ago and have not even put equipment up and they know that they are not monitoring any equipment in my home with this company. They continually charged me monthly even though I canceled calling four times. They said they cannot cancel with a balance due. Balance due was fraudulent as I was Paid in full until I moved. I have spent countless hours on the phone. I'm just going in circles and they just keep saying they have a special department cancel and they send you back-and-forth and then never cancel. I made a payment today for three months of service and I didn't so that I can quote "cancel". I should not have had to pay for service I was not rendered, and I have never heard of a company saying you can cancel. They are dishonest and fraudulent.

We have had two smoke/CO monitors fail by unexpectedly going off -- no low-battery signal -- and the company will not replace them. They are also nearly impossible to remove from their brackets. A basic unit from the hardware store is more reliable. And they make it very difficult to cancel the monitoring service.

Horrible Customer services, and does not follow through with what they agree to. Sends all calls overseas where the men will just play games with you. Many calls I attempted to speak with management who are always on a call or in a meeting and will call you right back and then you never get a call. I was even asked to wait in a chat by a lady. Said you have to give them 24 hours there is other customers besides you, I advised that it had been well over 24 hours, after 3 business days as well. Then she got smart. Said, "Guess you have to wait longer." I made an order and now 4 days later they have my money, and have not shipped the products, and every time I speak with them they don't have a reason on why it has not shipped, when it will be shipped or when I will receive it. They also will not refund money. I think that this company is a total scam and is making millions doing nothing.

I installed this system in May of 2023. After 2 months I realized the cameras weren’t recognizing people and I called customer service. They sent out 2 replacement solar powered cameras. I’ve had them for almost a year and they stopped charging so I now have to plug them in to charge them. I’m now under contract for two more years because I opted for the cheaper bundle. That’s on me. Canceling is $300 so I’ll just finish out my contract. I’ve not had any issues with customer support but the equipment is Eufy so stay away from any of their stuff. I believe you get what you pay for and this was too cheap to be true.

I contacted customer service thinking it would be a simple glitch fix. But after more than a month it's still not fixed! What good is a security system when you can't control when you want it to arm??? Ridiculous!

Don't do it! I ordered the Cove system almost 2 weeks ago now and it still has yet to arrive. I called to cancel it so I could get a return label to send it back in case I don't catch UPS to refuse the shipment and it took almost an act from Congress to close the account. They wanted to fix it but there's nothing to fix. I've already moved and went with a different company who I am now under contract with, and to make matters worse the woman I was speaking with asked me if the new occupants of the house would be interested!!! How would I know? That's for the new tenants to decide, and is none of my concern.

I used Cove for about 2 1/2 years. I was drawn to them for the low initial cost and DIY option. After 3 failed doorbells, two failed smoke detectors, numerous false alarms and window sensors that keep loosing supervision, I was done and wanted to cancel. Thinkin I would cancel and then wait a few year to let them mature and come back I made that fateful call.
The person I talked to was very polite. However, they would not take no for an answer and kept pushing and pushing. They kept telling me they understand and want to make it right. I explained to make it right and allow me to cancel in good terms. They would not allow that and kept pushing for them to work with me on the faulty equipment.
It took over 40 mins to finally get them to allow me to cancel. That was only after I got really agitated. the person told me they were still going to charge me for the next month even though I'm canceling as it was their process. What kind of company does that? If you don't ever want to cancel and can put up with constant failures and false alarms, this would be a great solution. As for me and mine, we are looking elsewhere.

The first 1.5 years I had no issues with the company and customer service. After that my panel had an issue with connecting to the cellular tower. We tried troubleshooting with tech support with no success. They tried to convince me to upgrade to a new panel that wouldn't be compatible with my camera nor smoke/CO detector, so I would have to purchase all that equipment. I declined and was sent a new panel of the same style and received it after a week. That panel also "wouldn't connect" and they couldn't figure out why. Again they tried to get me to upgrade and I declined. This time they said I would have to pay for the replacement and shipping. I argued to the point that a replacement would be sent at their expense.
After 2 months of never receiving my replacement I called to cancel my service. They offered to expedite a panel but it was too late. I had to pay $160 for cancelation on a service that they couldn't hold up to on their end of the agreement. As soon as I cancelled, suddenly my panel was able to connect to all my sensors and disconnected from the panel that I had. What a coincidence.

I DON'T RECOMMEND BUYING A COVE SECURITY SYSTEM. I Bought my son a house in August of 2021. I ordered a full Cove system, touch panel, MANY sensors, cameras, Smoke/Carbon detectors. Everything was installed and from day 1 it was terrible. We returned the cameras as they were terrible. The system sent alerts continually of problems with sensors, the smoke, carbon detectors, it was a headache, nothing worked right and my son gave up and just let it sit while we paid the monthly monitoring fee (we should have canceled back then).
Fast forward to about a month ago (early June 2024) and we called Cove and they sent their new system which was a new panel and new smoke and carbon detectors, I guess they realized their original equipment was no good. Out of the box it is all bad, false alerts from sensors, low battery indicator for the panel and no one at Cove can tell us what to do so I give up. It is terrible equipment and their tech support is awful, they have no idea how to help a customer and it is all one big waste of time. Never again so people think twice before you order this stuff, I wasted many hours on this and should not have.

Cove is an average to below average security system with terrible customer service. The security system components themselves are pretty cheap, but for the price of the service we weren't expected the top of the line stuff. The big issue with this company is their abysmal customer service. We cancelled our service due to a move across the country, and we were informed that even though we just paid for the next month the cancellation wouldn't take effect for another 30 days. OK fine, I think that's a poor policy but we'll pay one more month. But then, five months after we had moved out of the house, we see a charge from Cove again.
Clearly this is a mistake, so we call the very next day to get to the bottom of it. Turns out they only suspended our service and did not cancel it, and not only will they not refund the monthly fee but they will once again charge us ANOTHER MONTH because of their awful cancellation policy. This company will squeeze every last cent out of you if you try to leave.

It worked fine for the first two years until recently. I was forced to upgrade to the new panel and app due to the old one was having communication problem. The whole thing is a joke. First, it would take 7-14 days for the new panel to arrive; 7-14 days unmonitored but yet still have to pay for the service and the upgrade itself. Second, new panel volume was very low compared to the old one. And many sensors are not compatible hence need to spend more money on the upgrade. Third, new app doesn't show activities which the old app I could see when and which doors and windows are opened or closed. You would think the upgrade would make things better but so far everything is worse.

Horrible customer service. We've had Cove for only about 6 months and started experiencing random issues with sensors not working, system arming in stay mode vs away when arming away, false alarms, and the system randomly disarming itself. Called Cove 4 times to try to explain the issues and the tech literally told me that there is nothing wrong with my system. Tried going through troubleshooting steps only for the tech to tell me I was uncooperative and not performing the troubleshooting steps that he was asking. Tech had asked me to arm the system and open the door, which I did, and the tech told me that I did not open the door because he wasn't showing it on his end.
I tried to explain that that is what the issue was and he argued with me and told me there was nothing wrong just that I wasn't opening the door. Tech asked me to take a video to PROVE to him that I was opening the door. If you can't trust that I know how to open a door, then I'll take my business elsewhere. From a previous call, I was supposed to have received a replacement sensor because on tech previously had went through troubleshooting to discover that we had a bad sensor. Once the call was finished, they cancelled the order!

Installed Cove 3 months ago. The sensors work fine. Nothing else works at all. My husband accidentally set off the alarm a couple of weeks after installation. Never got a phone call. Nothing. That was our first red flag. Second was when I tried to login to the app. It said I had no account. Third red flag was when I looked at our bank statement and there were no charges for monitoring. Called customer service but they didn’t know what was wrong. They said they could see my account on their end. They “escalated” my issue and said I would get an email about what to do within 48 hours. Their “solution” never worked. So now I have a security system that tells me when a door or window is opened. Nothing else. My husband and I are both retired and on a fixed income. What a waste of money. We are moving in 5 months, and all our Cove equipment will go in the dumpster.

I ordered the Cove Smart Connect as it allows for multiple panels. Finally, a better option to ADT/Brinks etc. Well, I should have just not. It isn't DIY, and it is not easy if you have a house with molding and framing on your doors and windows. You need a shim/spacer to make the contacts work. They have nothing in their installation guides about this issue. And customer service has been of no service. It took over six hours of time and multiple chats over two weeks to find out they offer spacers, but they are back-ordered. So I get to pay for a system I can't use, hoping they may ship me some spacers someday. The most frustrating part is that they pretend you aren't answering them and log off the chat. But their system gives a read receipt that says they saw it. I hope whoever answers the alarm calls is better than the other staff.

The system arrived-the smoke sensors were originally listed as including CO, but later learned those sensors had issues and they were just shipping smoke/freeze sensors. With initial discount sensors were 10% of national brand we previously used, although smoke detectors were from same manufacturer and the other Cove sensors were of higher quality. (We tripled the number of sensors as a result of the savings) Monitoring costs for Cove are $27 month versus $67 for national brand.
Control panel and App are also much easier to use and we can install, disable or modify sensors-for example we disabled freeze monitoring on a smoke/temp sensor in an unheated attic area that kept setting the alarm off. Control panel has some bugs, but system has been in for 6 weeks and is performing properly. Self installed with minimal issues, although Cove was having website problems, and the App required a few account resets from Cove. Flood sensors were back-ordered but arrived when predicted. Generally pleased with results and very pleased with savings.

Your opinion is valued greatly and it helps us maintain an excellent standard of service to our customers. It was good to receive a call from Cove about the issues we were having. The assistance in bringing the system to a fully functioning status was very much appreciated. Jessyl, was quite amazing. I am completely convinced the issues we had with Cove are resolved. Thank you Jessyl/Cove for reaching out to us in such a humble caring way to bring renewed confidence in our initial decision that Cove was the best system to bring security to our home.
Original Review: March 15, 2023
We switched over to Cove from ADT about 45 days ago. It has not been a good experience. The installation was at times a bit rough, creating several calls to tech support to figure out. The video of the 7 yr old putting the system in on the promo video...well that didn't happen with my system. The overlapping signals were a problem from start to finish.
Once installed the system worked....kind of. The issues with the system come in using the Covesmart app. It is a disaster. If you have to rely on remoting into the system the Cove system will disappoint you. WORST part is you will have no idea WHEN the app will disappoint you. It's a flip of the coin every time. You simply can not count on the app to work, because 3/4 of the times it does not. The ritual is to find the system does not recognize your credentials thus setting off a series of events you have to perform to re-establish remote access.
1- Call cove customer service. 2- Wait online for someone to answer. 3- Go through your security clearance. 4- Explain the situation for the 30th time. 5- Listen to them tell you you need to set up a pin number which you have already done 30x. 6- They say sorry and you go through the setup process again. 7- In a few minutes they send you a link to follow. 8- You delete the app you downloaded yesterday and click their link to reinstall the 'new app'. 9- You do this for each person that has access to the system. 10- 30 mins later you find you can turn the security system on and off remotely! 11- Next day... you do step 1 thru 10 once again, as your app says you do not have credentials to access the panel.
Customer service is the same call center experience that is typical with other companies. Philippine-based. English is OK and they are nice but there is a but... if they say they will call you back in 5-10 mins...it just doesn't happen. Cove does not give a means to contact the company locally in the US so you are forced to transact with the call center. When I get a local phone number for Cove in Utah I will publish it for others to not have the same horrific experience we are having.
Overall -- I would NOT buy this system again. There are just too many choices out there to secure your home. The app should not even be offered. Accessing your Covesmart Portal on a computer is equally frustrating as it will say you do not have credentials. The in-home physical pieces of the security system work... the app and portal are the problem. AND they have proven to be major problems. I'd pass on Cove until they go their act together and their 'system' functioned as a reliable system'.
Hi Deno, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are really saddened to hear about your experience. We wish we could have done things easier for you since the beginning. We had a manager reach out to you and we hope we were able to address all your concerns. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to make things right for you!

The first 6 months were perfect. It’s when you have the money back guarantee. Soon after the control unit drops its network connection intermittently. I was told that it is because that the cellular signal is not strong enough. After several resets, moving the control units to multiple locations and firmware upgrade, the system still drops connection every day and the only way to reset it is to power it down, for which you have to be at home. So imagine, if you are out of the house, and the system drops connection, you are out of luck and you are unmonitored. So much for home security!
So the next step is to replace the head unit, which was placed 4 months ago and now on indefinite backlog. And since I am beyond the 6 months warranty period, the company won’t refund the 400 dollars of equipment that I bought and now useless. Irrespective of what you read about this company, they are frauds, absolutely don’t stand by their customers and employ powerless support agents who are not empowered to do anything to address customer issues beyond basic issues. Buyers beware!

I honestly cannot believe this company has high reviews which leads me to believe they are paying people to write reviews on websites. The overall experience with Cove has been disappointing to say the least. The Good: The company is cheap and equipment is affordable compared to more reputable brands. This makes Cove appealing especially during the holidays sales which are frequent. Setup and installation is relatively easy for a diy system. The response time for triggered alarms are good. Monitoring system is responsive which is what you want in a security company. Customer service is also really good within your 60 day trial period. That's where the good ends.
The Bad: The company is cheap for a reason. Equipment for this company is sub-par. Before my 60 day trial was up I faced several issues with multiple sensors failing. Turns out most of the sensors are shipped with cheap lithium batteries. I had to replace most of the batteries on most sensors due to the panel not communicating with most sensors. This should have been a sign to dump the company within the trial period but within 60 days they'll let you submit receipts for reimbursement for any equipment that's paid for out of pocket like batteries or adhesive tape for the sensor (which the tape failed on multiple sensors which triggers alarms when they fall). Good luck if anything happens after your trial period.
I was told any batteries I replace is my own expense. Also, I've been told my sensors don't communicate with my panel because my panel may be far away? This is false because I've had sensors lose communication within 2 feet of the panel. And, if you're in a large house there's no way your panel will be near all your sensors it should just work.
The Ugly: The low cost for this company is for a reason the equipment is cheap junk. Don't bother with their Yi outdoor cameras. They detect absolutely nothing. We decided to buy security cameras from a reputable brands and replace the cove cameras. We now self monitor our outdoor cameras which sort of defeats the point of paying for monitoring. The Cove app for Android is garbage. The app is honestly useless. Seldom can you use it to do anything functional. Don't bother using it if you need to arm and disarm your panel. It doesn't work. Cove promised Google integration which apparently customer service says "they're working on it". Check reviews on Google play store and you'll see countless complaints. Whether this is true or not they do not have Google integration.
My guess is Google will not integrate with a company that has faulty equipment which may lead Google open to lawsuits for security risk by integration with equipment that doesn't work. I paid for two key fobs that just stopped working. Even after batteries were changed. Good luck disarming your alarm when you're spooked out of your sleep for a false alarm that you cannot disable from the Cove app or key fob. Panel is pretty but it's trash. I've had multiple communication errors from the panel. I've had the panel freeze upon trying to disarm an alarm. The panel gives multiple power disconnects messages when it's plugged in and supposedly has a backup battery.
Customer service is less helpful after 60 days. Friendly but mostly useless as they cannot fix most issues and you now own junk equipment. I have had police dispatched to my house for false alarms more than I can count. It feels like the boy who cried wolf at this point. Hopefully they're still quick to respond should something actually occur. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Perhaps this is a growing pain for a new company but if you're serious about protecting your home and family go elsewhere. There are too many other choices from established companies to go with Cove. I wish it was better but it's not. I will be cancelling and going elsewhere. I value my home and family too much to trust them with Cove for protection.

The one time I needed Cove the company utterly failed me. When traveling my alarm went off. I was unable to contact anybody at Cove. Neighbors report my alarms going off, but nobody at their third party dispatch can do anything about it. A monitoring center staff person said they have been having trouble "all day" contacting Cove. I cannot contact anybody actually at Cove via phone, email, or chat. It's a US holiday, so you should know if your alarm goes off on a holiday there's nobody at Cove you can talk to, and their third party monitoring service can do little. So now my home alarm will be going off until I can travel thousands of miles to turn it off myself. Not sure what I'm paying them for. I don't even know why it's going off -- smoke? CO2? Who knows. Very bad in solving the problems. You need to call multiple times for same kind of issues. Mostly issues starts happening after 60 days we buys, so after 60 days they don't care about customer satisfaction or solving the problems (only try to act like nice get reviews after finish call). So if any customer wants refund after 60 days, they say your 60 days trial period is over now they cannot give refund. Then what's the reason for taking security service for your home when you don't receive any network or notifications. Another I see bad about cove is that, they reply to our review and say someone contact soon but nobody make call or even try to solve the problem.

After purchasing the equipment had no issues. Once the cellular towers switched from 3g to 4g or whatever it is called system has not worked. Would set alarm from app and continuously would say communication error. With that being said I called Cove to ask what the problem is and they stated it has been an ongoing issue. In layman's term it means the alarm is not synced to the monitoring company. If the alarm is not synced to the monitoring company and somebody breaks in the police won't be notified. In order to troubleshoot the system you need to be in front of the panel. How does Cove expect for you to be in front of the panel to troubleshoot it when you are on vacation. Please do your due diligence and shop around. Being forewarned.

Started off great. Easy set-up and everything worked as advertised. Less than a month later, some of the sensors started to trip for no reasons. Had to order replacements for them. Then, the panel stopped working correctly. The second they switched their cellular provider, it would no longer connect. I called 5 different times in which a technician would simply tell me to reset the panel. I would, it would work for 5 minutes, I would get off the phone, and it would stop working.
Finally they ordered me a replacement. That was 2 months ago and I am still without a panel. My security system doesn't work without it, so my system has been rendered useless for 2 months. I've called customer service on 3 separate occasions, only to reach an outsourced call-center in India, in which the operators are trying their best, but only have limited options. The only thing keeping me with Cove right now is the expensive initial investment, but as the system has been rendered useless for 2 months, I see no reason to continue using the company.
Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We are really sorry that you've been waiting for a replacement panel for over a month. We always want to put our customers first, and we apologize that we fell short this time. Due to worldwide shipping issues we've experienced a shortage in our panel inventory, leading us to take more time than expected. We are working hard to fulfill these orders and we want to make sure we are taking care of this situation for you. We will have a supervisor reach out to take care of all your concerns. Thank you.

I had my Cove smart security system professionally installed. They weren't able to use any parts from my previous system, so it was all brand new. It worked for 6 months. The panel broke, so I sent it back, they assured me a replacement would arrive in a week. 6 weeks passed, I made many phone calls, all of which were answered by cheerful, well mannered people who could not get their job done (provide the customer with a security system that works). Finally a new panel arrived, unfortunately not one that worked. While I was traveling I received at least 7 notifications every day about various parts of the system not communicating, not working. I sent it back as soon as I returned home, they assured me they would replace it. I just waited 18 days, no panel has arrived, so canceled the worst service of any kind I have ever paid for. Do yourself a favor and don't get a Cove Security System.

Used their service for 11 months then our panel died. Went blank. Ordered a replacement from customer service and they send a piece of plastic not the panel replacement. Call them back. They say it's backordered which is a lie (they went from AT&T to Verizon). You can order a new panel on website and get shipping confirmation in 1 day. I've waited 47 days and still no replacement panel. Service reps lie to you. You can hear them in background saying "let's go on break - he can wait hahaha" then 31 mins later on hold rep comes back and says in 7 days I will see my replacement panel.
Well 10 days passes. I call to inquire. They say it was never processed. Again I tell my issues and then I get a confirmation email. Then I wait 11 more days. Still never received Shipping confirmation - I call back to be told March 12th 2022 that it's the warehouse issue and they can't contact the warehouse. (It's next door - so a lie!) I just have to wait for the backlog to ease and in 7 days I will see my replacement panel - well March 30th 2022 still no replacement. In meantime they're still billing me even though my system is broken.
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are saddened to hear about your experience and having to wait so long for a replacement panel and the handling of the agents you spoke with. Updated on 07/25/2026: I purchased a second Cove Security System as the first one worked well for the most part, customer service was acceptable and fair price for 24/7 monitoring. The second system has been quite problematic and unreliable. The hub had to be replaced under warranty in very short order, the system is constantly offline and the app does not work well. When attempting to disarm with the app, the system often does not disarm, the system goes offline but it alarms before I can shut it off with the touchpad.
Many troubleshooting sessions, Cove engineering reviews and ultimately a hub replacement have not resolved the issues described. I have been very patient and given Cove multiple opportunities to troubleshoot and correct the issues but no resolution has been achieved. As such, I have determined a different security system will need to be purchased for another security system provider. I feel that Cove should refund the purchase price of the security system and monitoring fees as 24/7 monitoring is not possible because the system is offline often and does not work as it should.
Original review: Purchased Cove Home Security System Feb. 2, 2022 and contacted Cove Feb. 4, 2022 for Alarm Permit required by County I live in which Cove agreed to provide within 30 days. Today is March 26, 2022 and still no Alarm Permit. I have followed up several times by phone and email and while representatives are cordial there has been no resolution to this point. I have contacted BBB for assistance in resolving this matter and Cove has not yet responded.
Coincidentally or not, you decide, the same day the BBB contacted Cove, the notifications on the App stopped working. In addition, the alarm was tripped by accident one time when I forgot to disarm it when opening a door. There was no response other than a text. They are supposed to be live monitoring and respond to alarms by contacting local police but it appears that is not the case. I am paying for all available services. That is supposed to include the App, police contact when system alarms among many other advertised features but my personal experience has proven that the monitoring services I have paid for are definitely not being provided as advertised.
Hello Michael! We are truly sorry that you waited so long to have your alarm permit. We wish we could've done things better and easier for you. We had a supervisor reach out and worked on your case. We were able to verify that the alarm permit was issued and added to your account. The notifications error was resolved as well. We hope this has been helpful information. Please, feel free to reach out to us anytime if you need any additional assistance. Thank you!

I purchased my Cove system last summer and almost immediately had trouble with it. The alarm system itself is fine. The contacts work as they should and so does the panel. The outdoor cameras are another thing. They're really awful quite honestly. I complained about them once and received new ones which was good but the replacements are just as bad. They "freeze" or stop working totally sometimes and have to be reset. And there is a huge amount of activity that just does not get recorded. They are worthless if something happens in your home. Yes I have the settings correct. And the app is very buggy. It's many years behind other apps in interface design and functionality. Cove definitely has issues in these areas. When I can afford it, I'll replace the cameras with the top brand. Buyer beware.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's great to know the system is working fine for you. We are sad to hear you have been experiencing all these difficulties. We are really sorry that our cameras and app didn't meet your expectations. We have a manager reach out to you to address all your concerns and see what we can do to make it right for you.

Purchased a Cove system, including indoor and outdoor cameras, and $14.99 monitoring program. The cameras were NOT cove. They are YI and Kami. Many problems with those cameras. Called Cove for technical support and they said that I would need a separate app for those cameras. Cove also said they do not provide technical support for those cameras, although they state they do. I was told to download a YI app. YI support is in China. Tech support is by email only and they do not respond. When purchased I was told all tech support was in Utah. Not so. Today I called for help and was connected with a heavy foreign accent...probably from the Philippines.
Tried sharing with my wife's phone and I was told that would be another $10/ mo. Also, I cannot view cameras live, because that would also be another $10 ($24.99/mo.) On top of it Kami/YI send me advertising to lure me away from Cove, and that's the Cove camera supplier. Additionally, accessing cameras ends with telling me that they will not connect with the internet, an issue with the ISP. ISP provider has checked their system and all is okay. I'm nowhere resolving their problems. Conclusion: scrapping Cove and ordered a new system from Ring - Amazon owned at $10/mo. monitoring. BEWARE OF COVE'S FALSE LEADS!!

I highly don’t recommend this company. Sure the customer service is helpful and quick, but the equipment sucks. There’s a 30 second delay when entering the house, which gives someone plenty of time to grab something and run before the alarm sounds. The outside camera only records when motion is detected, you do not have live feed after that motion like you do on the indoor camera. The outside camera also doesn’t have human detection? Very dumb. The glass break monitor was set off by my kid screaming, scared them for nights because they thought there was a monster. My door sensor falls off constantly. I can’t watch the live feed when my power or wifi go out.
I really wanted my money back but they consider the day you place the order as the start of your trial. How can you try something that you don’t have?? I received my package on 6/22/21 and 55 days later on 8/16/21 I am trying to get a money back return but I cannot because I placed my order 62 days ago.. so dumb. Only keeping the service because the equipment is basically pointless without it. Without the service you will not be notified if anything is detected or someone enters. The alarm will just go off until you get home.

If a door is opened and the alarm sounds, canceling the alarm doesn't help prevent a phone call from Cove, or worse, police showing up at my door. They just don't get it and I've called them repeatedly about NOT calling or worse sending police in if an alarm is canceled promptly. It's frustrating when you have kids that make mistakes and you have to keep doing this and they promise to update their system, but nothing changes. I owned security systems for many years, and I've never had this problem before until now. The system otherwise is good and works fine. It's the company that seems to use off-shore representatives and can't get things done right.

One of the wireless cameras works perfectly, the other keeps losing its connection and I have to spend about 15 minutes rescanning the QR code to get it to work for a few hours. One other minor irritant. We were supposed to get a lawn sign and stickers to put on the windows. We did get the lawn sign, but there were no stickers. We did get some magnets which are pretty well useless because obviously they won't stick to a window.

Overall, I don't have anything bad to say about the system and the operation of the system, that gets 5 stars.
They don't allow you to cancel the service. They are not understanding and because of the pandemic, I was not working so attempted to cancel before the payments got behind and they told me that I was outside of the 60 day return of equipment period and I was pretty much stuck with the equipment that I now had to pay for. They weren't accommodating at all and they are not willing to provide a document of what is owed if you want to cancel your service. Like many of the good and bad reviewers, I was drawn into getting Cove security for my home based on positive reviews and their pricing. Cove also assured me that by June they would be offering their own monitoring camera, doorbell camera and a Verizon sim card to replace the AT&T sim card. This was all good news to me and one of the deciding factors in my choosing to go with Cove, unfortunately it was all a pack of lies and nothing more than a bait and switch scheme by a company who is big on promises but weak on quality and service. Beginning in April 2020, my Cove system would repeatedly and continuously go offline. Unfortunately AT&T is the carrier Cove has chosen to use as their data company, and it has the worst service in my neighborhood.
As of this afternoon, my system has been offline for an entire day now, which means there is nobody at Cove monitoring the security of my house. So what good is a "security" company that can't guarantee their clients reliable 24/7 monitoring of their home? And when I spoke to their Tech Support agent, his response was a cavalier, "Well cancel your service if you're not happy, but don't expect a refund from us because it's past your 60 day trial." I almost half expected him to add a snickering "sucker" to his comment. What a huge disappointment Cove has turned out to be. Trust in your home security company is huge because these are the people you are putting your faith in to keep your home safe. Cove promised they would monitor my home 24/7, they promised a monitor camera, they promised a doorbell camera and they promised me a Verizon sim card, they broke all of these promises and ripped me off.

We wanted to return the hardware, but were out of the 2 month grace period. 5 months in, after losing all faith and being frustrated from our dog now having PTSD from the machine we wanted a refund of their faulty, poorly designed, defective system. Their response was that it was MY fault I didn't call sooner. Hours on the phone wasted, service from AT&T would completely drop out rendering the system useless. Initially they did not send me 3 additional sensors that I paid for and when I called in I was told that I didn’t order the additional sensors. After going back and forth, I went ahead and ordered the additional sensors. I was shipped just one instead of the 3 I ordered. For almost one month I kept calling and was told that my order was processed and that it was being shipped out. I tried to talk to supervisors numerous times and was not successful. I was told they would call me and sure enough no calls.
In the meantime I was already being charged for the monthly fee without even activating my service. This was the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. They are liars, they don’t care about their customers and completely dismiss you once you sign up. I will be reporting them to BBB as well. Truly a disappointment because I was really looking forward to the system. I spent almost one week calling every day for them to cancel my service and refund my money. I've had this system less than a week and it has already failed as a reliable dependable home Security System. The first problem was one of the door sensors didn't work after install, no problem, called TS and they said they would send a replacement. I decided to arm the system in 'AWAY' mode to test the 3 motion sensors installed in each bedroom. I waiting by a window in each room for the system to arm, then I walked away from the window and was able to walk around the entire rooms before the motion sensor went off. Room #1 took about 24 seconds, Room#2 took over 30 secs and Room#3 took about 40 seconds before alerting the call center.
I called to ask why and was told it allows you time to deactivate the system, REALLY! 40 seconds is enough time for an intruder to take whatever they want and exit. That 40 seconds could have been used to alert the call center, send text message and dispatch the police before the intruder proceed into another areas of the home. I had installed motion sensors in the bedrooms instead of window sensors because they each had 2 large windows and I thought motion sensors was be better. I decided I would just order window sensors for the 6 windows as additional security. When I went to arm the system for the night the panel indicated a door was open and I couldn't arm it. The problem was, there was no door opened. This was the time I decided Cove was not going to work out for me.
I immediately called Cove and requested a return shipping label so I could return this equipment immediately. The door had to be removed in order for me to arm the system for the night, GREAT! Now I couldn't arm one of the main doors overnight. At 6:41am the next morning, I get a message "burglar tampered" message, which I had to click on a link to cancel. I thought it was the door that had been removed. Later when I go to disarm the system, I get multiple text messages seconds apart, 7:50am System Tamper, 7:51am System Tamper, 7:51am Zone Bypass Front Door, 7:52am Burglary Alarm: Control Panel, 7:52am Tamper while system is armed, 7:52am Multiple system activities reported, 7:53 Alarm canceled, 7:56am AC Power Failure Panel, 7:54am Call from Cove Call Center (Alarm panel is going off wouldn't allow me to deactivate saving "invalid code, invalid code").
I told the dispatch operator, "There is no alarm. This cheap system is going off by itself so don't send the police out here." I had to unplug it to get it to stop. This was another indication to return this system. This is a VERY dangerous system to have, I don't know if it's just that I received a faulty system, maybe a system another customer had returned faulty and Cove sent to me as 'NEW' or perhaps a used system from someone who died that was installed in their home and this system is haunted, I don't know, but this system could cause the police dispatched to my house and whose ever inside at the time can be mistaken as an intruder. This system has to go immediately!!!!
A security system should be reliable, no false alarms, should activate first movement of an intruder without delay time. I chose Cove after testing another system, which didn't work out and the fact they were new and I wanted to try it out, but the equipment I received is unacceptable as far as being a reliable home security. Another issue, the FREE camera, could never get it to scan the barcode, plus it's useless if it's not integrated with the Cove security system to monitor, what's the purpose of it, offer a FREE equipment device instead. I received my return label. I will box the equipment, including camera and send back immediately and try out another brand. I will say, they have a quick response Call Center team when an alarm does go off. 2 STARS for exceptional Call Center Dispatch Service.

I'm an early adopter so when I found Cove I was all in. Cove provides the link between the out of the box solutions (Nest, Ring, etc.) and the big brand contracts like ADT. I love how I can set the product up myself and customize my solution, but also have the support and monitoring of a 24/7 service. I love the touch screen interface and the ease of use. However, there are some drawbacks. The app is very limited in its use and the AT&T only solution is not as reliable as I would like. I wish there was a hybrid solution with AT&T and WiFi to provide some extra reliability. I also cannot silence the panel entirely when there are minor issues such as communication failures due to service outage. This is really annoying since the panel is near my nursery and wakes my son up when it starts screaming. Other than that, this solution is solid. The siren is loud, the monitoring is quick and timely, and the sensors work flawlessly. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Thanks for the great review and amazing feedback. We are definitely listening. Thanks for sharing this information.
