Plan details

Blue Ribbon home warranties cover mechanical failure due to normal wear and tear. Silver is the base package, while Platinum includes all the systems and appliances listed in the Silver and Gold plans, plus additional items.

This company also offers the Blue Ribbon Premier Upgrade, which is included in the Platinum plan and available as an add-on at the Silver and Gold levels. This feature provides coverage on items such as racks, rollers, sewer line cleanings, garage door hinge replacement and window air conditioning units.

Blue Ribbon Home Warranty offers extra protection with add-on coverage. You can add items that don’t come with any of the standard plans, such as pools, gas fireplaces or septic tanks. You can also get coverage for duplicate appliances — for example, if you have a second refrigerator or own a multiunit property.  Each additional item's cost is added to your contract.

Like most home warranty companies, Blue Ribbon's contract contains many limitations and exclusions. Blue Ribbon Home Warranty offers 14-month and two-year pricing on its contracts. It also offers four- and 10-year plans for homes being bought and sold. With Blue Ribbon, monthly rates range from $26.25 up to $71.50 per month, plus a $75 deposit. If you opt to pay for the full 14-month or two-year term upfront, you could pay from $369 to $1,469 per contract term.

The service fee for all plans is $75 per technician visit. Month-to-month payment is only available for homes that are not currently involved in a real estate transaction.

Discounts

Blue Ribbon Home Warranty provides a discounted rate for its two-year home warranty plan, along with a 5% discount for senior citizens and military personnel. Some customers can save $70 on a single-family home plan if they don’t need their heating system covered. This company also has a service guarantee to waive your deductible if the company’s technician doesn’t contact you to schedule an appointment within 24 hours of your claim.
