DO NOT USE! Called in with sewage backup into my bathtub. Tried to book me middle of day next day. I informed them that I would take that but I would continue to try to find someone sooner. The smell was bad and I did not want to deal with that all night. She "escalated" it to her supervisor and got me booked with a "no time" booking. She informed me I would hear from them when the plumber took the notice. It was just a few minutes after I got off the phone with her that I received a text message. "Your appointment with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing has been scheduled for Tuesday March 17 2026 between 6:00 PM & 8:00 PM" at my address. "To make any changes, call (513) 752-2512."

8 comes and goes. 8:30 I am getting anxious. It's getting late. My kids need to go to bed soon. House smells like sewage. I call the number from the text message. Not the number I booked with. Calls go to One Hour Heating and Cooling. Fine. Figured that was a parent company or something. AI answers with a prompter. I say something like missed appointment for plumbing and it says something like let me get you to the proper people. Phone rings. Goes to voicemail. "If you reach us after business hours please call..." That's right the number I just called. Go complain to my wife. Wait another half hour-forty-five mins and call again. Now I am fuming. I tell the prompter that I was calling for plumbing emergency services. "Our sister company handles plumbing. We handle HVAC."

I tell it I had an appointment and no one showed up. It sends me to an individual and I am heated. He says, "Well you are still on the books with a no time appointment." I said, "That is how it was booked but you all sent me a text telling me 6-8. We are well past that." He informs me that was a mistake and I shouldn't have received that text. I said, "I did. Your company promised me services between those hours so, I want the first appointment tomorrow." He was unable to guarantee me that appointment so I canceled. I do not recommend ever using a company that's jingle promises never late and then when they are late they try to tell you that you should never have been given a time frame.

TOTAL SCAM! I hired them to do a full plumbing inspection prior to buying a house. They charged ~$700 for sending cameras through “every part” of my pipes under the house and reported back that it was in great condition, all PVC and relined cast iron that looked like new. Not 6 months later, my house backs up and floods. I called them to inspect it, discovered the original inspection was NEVER DONE completely so they missed the entire main stack of my house, but somehow they still wanted to charge another $1600 to clear the clog! They gave me a runaround when I asked for a manager to waive it, since they fudged the inspection reports in the first place that would have revealed the problem if done correctly. I hired another plumber who came in for over $1,000 less(!!). He found 8 FEET of root intrusion in my main stack and cleared enough for water to flow again.

Then the relining company quoted $4500 to clear the rest, repair the cracked pipes they found and actually reline the cast iron (to get them the way Ben Franklin's report falsely claimed my pipes were when I bought the house). It took me 4 months of chasing down their managers, thanks to their dodgy phone tree system. At the end of it all, they refused to take responsibility for the problems missed in their inspection, so I had to cover all costs of repairs on my own. I’ve never felt so scammed and disregarded in my entire life. Don’t waste your time or money trusting this company.

My garage door was intermittently popping back up after I closed it; so annoying. I called and received an appointment for the next day. My garage door and opener were inspected; it was cleaned and oiled and tested several time. I was told there is something in the electronics that was slightly off and the door closed completely or almost completely. I asked about the price of a new garage door opener since mine is old but the price quoted was way out of my budget. The price of the Lift Master limit switch was very reasonable and I went with that option. The service technician was very respectful and knowledgeable and I appreciated his patience with me and my dog. Thank-you so much for your help.

Wow! I wish I had looked at the reviews before we hired this company, and I will never make that mistake again. The mistake of hiring the company nor the mistake of not looking at the reviews first. They came out and installed a hot water heater because blew. Per county regulations here where we live they had to also install some backflow regulator device. The ridiculousness of this whole thing is that this cost $4000. A hot water heater and a backflow regulator. I feel that we have been robbed!

But to make things worse, when the county inspector came out he found all kinds of things wrong, and our hot water heater did not pass inspection. The inspector pointed out many things that they had done which would void the warranty. And he said that many companies do this because they want your warranty voided so that you have to get a new appliance from them sooner than you would have to get a new appliance if they hadn’t avoided your warranty. The inspector said that he would turn in his report and the company would be calling us to schedule an appointment to come out and fix it. Nobody called us. My husband has been calling all week long, and no one answers the phone and no one will return our phone calls. I’m about ready to get an attorney!!!! Don’t use this company! You’ll be ripped off and left with an appliance that will pass inspection!

Ben Franklin called me and offered a 'free' plumbing inspection that includes a water heater flush, it sounded good so I accepted. Two plumbers showed up the next day and looked at my outside plumbing and then inside. One of the plumbers broke the handle off one of my valve handles under my kitchen sink causing a leak. He then told me how much it was going to cost me to fix the valve he just broke. Since it was an active leak I agreed to have it fixed. That night I went to take a shower and my hot water heater wasn't working. I called them expecting them to come out immediately because this was the second problem they caused. I was told that they couldn't be out until the next morning 8-10am.

I subsequently found that my garbage disposal was not working and let them know this was also a problem. The next morning they had not shown up by 10 so I called the office and I was told that the window was now 10-12. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that they could not contact the manager but would send a message to one. I expressed how frustrated I was and was told that she 'hoped' someone would be there soon. They eventually showed up and fixed the issues and I gave them back the tool that was left on my kitchen floor the previous day.

Two days later I still have not heard from a manager or received an apology. Years ago I recommended this company to numerous people. Now I will not let them near my property and I highly recommend that no one agrees to let them do a 'free' inspection because it's going to cost you money and the job will most likely be half assed. According to their website they will pay $5 for every minute they are late. They owe me $150!

    2) After completing agreed to work, BF did work that was not requested that disrupted immediate hot water to my home. I have recirculating water system where pump was turned off 5 years ago, but immediate hot water continued. This is called Thermal Syphoning, but BF didn’t know anything about it even though it is part of plumbing training. Took me one second to Google and figure out. Also communicated this to business, but didn’t communicate to plumber.

    3) BF Plumbing pressured husband to provide review on the spot. Never do this until job is completed and all issues resolved. Husband has no idea where review posted so can’t undo.

Highly recommend not going with this business- lots of other knowledgeable, reasonably priced licensed contractors out there.

Insurance paid them directly to complete the project ($32000) To include mold remediation (never done), cabinet replacement floor replacement sheetrock and painting. All on which was promised to me by them and never completed. I am now out the $32000 and have to come up with an additional money to complete the project and repair the damage they caused. I have asked for an itemized receipt for the work that was completed but have not received it. I just wanted to see where that money went to. As for the plumbing rotation the leaks were repaired with multiple “shark bites” instead of replacing all the pipes which would have cost a third of what they charged me. Their business practices need a lot to be desired.

I have had some good experience with them on a couple occasions, at least I thought I did. Most recently they charged me for work at one of my condos which would have been impossible to perform. A leaking shower from the second floor led to their plumber diagnosing a design issue and recommending a $6,000 shower replacement. 2 different plumbers from BF recommended the same thing after supposedly cleaning the drain and doing a camera evaluation of the drain. After removing the ceiling where the leak was located, I had a second plumber provide a second opinion, only to find a caulking tube lodged in the drain, from initial construction, and a need to replace the seals. All for $450. BF hires inexperienced plumbers and tries to pad the bill as much as possible. Terrible experience.

My recent ordeal with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, which involved misleading discounts and unclear pricing. I initially needed replacements for four items, but was persuaded to add ten more based on the promise of a substantial discount. However, to my dismay, each of these 14 items was billed at $121 each—much higher than expected. The invoice I received after the job was completed, showed a different description of work performed than was actually performed. This was done to raise the bill for me! He only changed angle stops, however showed work requiring braided supply lines, this was not done, as new faucets were being installed with new sink and countertops by another company. Benjamin Franklin only replaced the angle stops.

I needed to add two more items, only to discover that these were charged at $69 each as a 'add-on angle stop.' The 10 added on should have been at this price as they too were an 'add-on' to the original. This inconsistent and deceptive pricing strategy not only confused but also resulted in a significantly higher total cost than necessary. I ended up paying more under the guise of receiving discounts, which turned out to be non-existent for the initial set of items. Please exercise caution and scrutinize any deals or discounts offered by this company. Their lack of transparency can lead to unexpectedly high charges, as it did in my case. There are others who offer same quality and warranty but for a significantly lower and transparent pricing.

Beware of Predatory Pricing and rushed service. I had a truly awful experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, and I want to warn others. My son, a single parent with two young kids, had a pipe burst during freezing weather. I called around for him and, unfortunately, chose this company because they advertised "same-day service." Despite that claim, it took them 24 hours to show up, leaving my son and his kids in a cold house without water.

When the repair technician finally arrived, he was cordial and friendly but immediately quoted an outrageous $880 to fix the leak. My son, with no idea of what the repair involved or how long it would take, felt he had no choice but to agree given the desperate situation. The plumber then said he needed an under-the-sink shut-off valve (doesn't a plumber carry something as basic as that on their truck?), left to retrieve it from their warehouse, and returned to complete the job. The entire repair, including his trip, took just 1 hour and 45 minutes. $880 for less than 2 hours of work! When I found out, I was shocked.

I called the company manager to appeal to their sense of fairness, but I was coldly told, "Your son agreed to the quote, and it is what it is." There was no consideration for the clear overcharging or the difficult circumstances of my son and his kids. After a while he told me he will go back and check again, and promised he will get back to me. Needless to say he never did.

To make matters worse, three days later, after the ice melted, another leak in tan area close to the first one appeared. This plumber didn’t even take the time to inspect the nearby pipes for potential issues. Now we have to hire another plumber to fix what they failed to address. We have found one who is coming tomorrow. This company’s pricing is predatory, their service is lacking, and they clearly don’t care about their customers. Avoid Benjamin Franklin Plumbing at all costs!

We had just purchased the house about 2 days before we had plumbing problems. Worked around the house all day then early evening all the drains backed up. I was too tired to deal with it so looked on Angie's List and found Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Called and requested a plumber to check out the problem. He came maybe 1 1/2 hours later, which was good. Looked at at the bathrooms, under the kitchen sink, then went into the crawl space. Came back out and told me there was a low spot in the main sewer line and that it could not be repaired because it was black ABS pipe and that it would not go back straight once it deformed like that and that all the ABS pipe had to be removed and replaced with white PVC pipe and that a line from the kitchen sink had popped loose from the main sewer line and was pouring water out under my house. Also the sounds from the drains indicated the septic tank was probably full.

He then showed me a picture of plumbing lines with one popped loose and leaking. The picture happened to show what appeared to be about 4 feet of white PVC pipe. Then said he would give me an estimate for repairs. The estimate was $6200.00 and said would be 1 1/2-2 weeks before the work could be done as Thanksgiving was coming up and with the one pipe leaking that would give some relief until they could replace everything. $6200 seemed extremely high for that work, sewage running out under my house for up to 2 weeks didn't seem very sanitary and he it would do no good at all to clear the pipe while he was there.

I paid the $149.00 after hours service charge he left, without attempting to trying to alleviate the problem. The next day I went into the crawl and checked it all out myself. The main line had about a 10 foot section that the hangers had come loose and let the pipe drop to the ground. The drain pipe from the kitchen sink had popped off at the main line. The biggest surprise was that there was no white PVC pipe anywhere under my house. When they emailed the estimate it had that picture attached. I purchased new hanger straps, glue and rented a power drain snake and made all the repairs myself for about $150.00. Yes the main pipe went straight when I hung it back into place. Glued the fitting back and dug up the septic tank and another surprise, the tank had been pumped sometime before we purchased the house.

This guy gave me the feeling of trying to take advantage of senior citizens and that they would never question or look to see what the real problem was. The drains have been flowing for about a month and a half with no problems. When I called them about it I was just given a runaround and nothing was done to correct the problem or an offer for a refund. Will not be calling them again or use Angie's List either.

Be careful hiring these guys. They charged me $3000,00 to run 40 ft of pipe under my house. The pipe was 2 inch PVC and they ran 4 ten-foot sections and hooked into the kitchen sink and the sewer line. They arrived at 9 am and were done by 2 pm. That would be 5 hours of work and they did not work the whole time they were here. That comes to approximately $600.00 per hour. They also added $650.00 of the approximately $3000.00 to the job after they did it for hooking into the kitchen sink. They did not tell me that they were charging me this until they already had it done. I will never hire these people again.

I am 71 years old and they seem to rip off elderly people who can not crawl under their house. I could do this myself if I could have crawled under my house. The pipe cost approximately $20.00 a stick plus fittings. That would be $80.00 plus the cost of fittings and glue. I have been doing plumbing for 50 years and would have done this if I could have gotten under the house. Shame on you Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. The Punctual Plumber.

He proceeded to tell that he flushed the unit and checked for codes and the unit was working properly at that time. But was very pushy about selling us a new unit. After he left I checked for codes and was able to pull up 5 different codes. So their solution is to just sell you a new unit and not troubleshoot the unit that was there.

To start I want to mention I worked as a journeyman sprinkler fitter in my younger years, so I have a solid plumbing background, I was pressed for time and decided to contract this out. I had a quote and same day service to relocate a water filter and conditioner in my garage. The total distance is about 15’ of piping. The crew that was sent was ill-equipped and definitely not qualified to perform a relatively basic task. Install resulted in the water lines being installed against the gas vent for the water heater, the wall mounted filter was pulling off the wall before they even drove away (I had to ask them to come back inside).

The initial quote was provided by Brad, who stated he would be “monitoring” the project, this was definitely not the case. I personally had to modify the bracket for the filter housing (they did not have the tools), and fixed the wall mount as they watched. Brad clearly stated that they were sending one of their best. Overall it was a horrible experience. I will not use them again for anything.
