I purchased the Alder security system a few years ago because a man showed up at my door and talked to me into it through deception. He lied about the price. He lied and told me that the homeowners insurance would drop when they found out that I had their insurance but in fact it actually went up. When I contacted the company about it they actually told me that that was my problem and that I needed to straighten it out with the salesman myself or find somebody else to take over the equipment and get them set up with the service! That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of! I'm still having that same issue with them. I argued with them for over 6 weeks telling them that that man did not work for me that he was their employee and it was up to them to make sure they have honest employees not me as a consumer. It was ridiculous with tons of phone calls and emails and we finally got it straightened out and I refuse to pay their $50 a month.
I finally got them to agree to 35 even though I was told it would be 30. When I told them the salesperson had written it on the paperwork he gave me they accused me of writing it in! Right then and there I should have threw their crap in the trash. Now I've had it several years and in 2020 they called me and said, "Do you want to renew your contract" and I said no! I said, "I don't want any contract. I don't know if I'll be living here in 5 more years and if I'll even be alive in 5 more years. Who knows." I said, "I didn't necessarily want to cancel the service but I did not want a contract." So the equipment hasn't been operating for over 2 months. I have set up two appointments to have their technician come and he was a no-call no-show both times! Even though I had emailed their customer service in the meantime and said if he does this to me the second time there would be no additional chance.
I told them that if he does not show they can come and get their equipment or I will gladly put it in a box and ship it to them. Of course there was no call no show. Now they're trying to tell me, "Oh we're sorry. Just let set it up one more time." What in the world kind of customer service is that? I'm telling you run in the other direction. Now they're trying to tell me that they have it verbally that I agree to another contract which of course I did not. I told them to prove it and they told me I had to get a subpoena in order to get a copy of my conversation with them saying that I agreed to it!!!! They said if I do not that I will have to pay for all the months that I'm not going to complete in the contract! These people are underhanded slime buckets. Do not have any dealings with them.

Customer service took care of giving me the proper information, without pressuring me to buy. I was given all the options possible to just get what I really needed instead of trying to sell items just to make a profit. I really appreciate that.

Nov 2 2021, they claim I renewed the contract. I did NOT renew, had NO intentions of renewing. I wanted to cancel when contract was up May 2023.. they renewed without my knowledge. They wanted to be sure I wasn't going to cancel and then they would install new control panel.. I had 18 months left on my contract so told them I wouldn't cancel.. BUT I did intend on cancelling the service at the end of my contract... had NO intentions to extend my contract.. I fully intended to go back to ADT that Alder talked me into leaving in 2018... now they say I approved the renewal..
IMO, the one wanting to put in new panel assumed because I said I wouldn't cancel, meant I wanted to renew.. NO I DID NOT!!! Now to cancel this mess, they are wanting to hit me with about $2600 fee... I am with Brinks and should NOT have to owe more than a year... I need help from someone... I never saw the paperwork for renewal they have.. was NOT approved by me!!!

I've never written a complaint about a company before, but I've reached my breaking point with Alder. I'm a first time renter and when it came time to set up my electricity, Alder piggybacked their way into my wallet acting like a free trial (Looking back, that was an obvious red flag for a security system). I really only realized how bad of a situation I was in when I was on a call in which I explicitly stated that I didn't want an inspection of my apartment, only to then receive a $50 inspection bill a week later.
After having obvious buyer's remorse, it took two months of attempted calling and emails (none were ever picked up by a rep), before concluding that it'd be easier to cancel my card than the 5 year subscription that they forced me into. Immediately they sent a letter asking for money where, as it turns out, they didn't even have my personal information correct. I'm not sure how that was messed up, but an extremely bad sign for a company I'm supposed to trust to keep my place secure and only good in the fact that I don't trust this security company with any of my information anymore.

On 9/15/22 my back door was opened and 1 minute later the alarm activated. I was across the country and pulled up my camera system to make sure kids had turned lights off and heard my alarm sounding. It had been going off for over 4 minutes. I disarmed it from my app and checked cameras. I was not contacted nor was law enforcement. I have made 3 phone calls totaling nearly 2 hours with customer service and tech support. I have been told it's a faulty door sensor, faulty control panel, poor internet connection, and my kids' error in setting the alarm. I never complained about the equipment, my only question to them was why my alarm went off for over 4 minutes and no one was notified. They stated it has to sound for 5-10 minutes before anyone is called. Seriously?!?
My alarm was activated in the past due and I know for fact that I was called within 2 minutes and law enforcement was called immediately after when I was unable to be reached. Do they realize the amount of damage/harm an intruder can do in 5-10 minutes? This is completely unacceptable. They offered little apology and no resolution to this problem. I used to feel safer with an alarm system but Alder and their lack of concern and blame game has definitely changed my mind.

My system has not worked for 4 months. I made multiple appointments to have a rep. Come fix it. Nobody showed, no phone call, nothing. Although the last appointment I made was in the morning, got a call in the afternoon to reschedule. Anyway, they kept taking the money out of my account, and said they would credit me for the lost time when it was fixed.
I got tired of the ** and told them I wanted to terminate my service. They said I needed to pay over 3,000 dollars to get out of it. I refused, because they need to hold up their end of the contract too. I wrote multiple emails and a letter to their legal, compliance, CEO, and customer service. The only response I got was from customer service saying I needed to pay the 3,000 and some dollars. So I put a stop payment on them from my bank, and here I sit almost 5 months later, still no response. Going to send all their equipment to their CEO tomorrow, because they have absolutely no clue how to treat customers.

Since February 28, 2022 my security panel has not operated due to a communications failure. I called Alder Security that same evening to report the issue and was told someone would call me back. No one contacted me so I called again on March 1st and spoke to a technician. He walked me through how to complete a systems test. The systems test failed and the tech informed me that the 3G panel needed to be updated with a 5G panel. He said that someone would call me with a date for installation of the new panel. I did not receive a call for an appointment.
On June 7th I received a phone call from a representative named Chris. He stated that my account was past due by $94.76. I told him that I had not had service to my panel in over 3 months. Chris transferred me to tech Support and after being placed on hold the line changed over to a busy signal. A rep named Jeff returned my call and stated that installation will not be available until October due to a lack of available technicians. He also said that the 5G panel could be sent to my address for me to install. I advised him that I do not have the expertise to install a security panel. Chris said that someone will contact me with a date in October to install the 5G panel.
Later that day (June 7th) another rep named Maxie called about the past due amount. She stated that I owed $148.49. I told her that a rep from her company had contacted me earlier that day and said I owed $94.76. She said that the amount due for June had been added. I advised her that I still do not have service to my panel. She stated that I needed to pay the amount due now and later my account would be adjusted for the downtime once my service was reconnected. Later that same day (June 7th) I received a third call from a rep named Ernie about my past due account. Again, I told the rep that I do not have any service and he transferred me to another rep named Shea. She stated that I could pay 50% of the balance and the company would waive the other 50%. I repeated the fact that their company has not provided the agreed upon service.
I was transferred back to Ernie who told me I was under contract. I advised him that the contract requires his company to provide a service in exchange for my payment and I have not had service since February 28th. He tried to get an earlier installation date but there was not a date earlier than October. Since June 7th representatives have continued to call me every day, multiple times a day to harass me about the balance. When I talked to them I informed them that I will not pay for a service that is not being provided. The company sent me a collection notice at the beginning of July requesting payment even though I should not have a balance because they have not provided service.
I am requesting that Alder Security stops harassing me because I do not owe them any money. To this date no one from their company has scheduled an installation appointment for a working panel. Under the terms of the contract the company is required to provide security monitoring service in exchange for payment. Alder Security violated that contract and should let me out of the contract without paying a penalty. Also, they need to stop harassing me and remove any “past due” amount because I do not owe for services not rendered.

Alder Security was horrible. I had nothing but issues. To get ahold of somebody is forever. It took a week for me to get ahold of somebody. I canceled them about three months ago. Now, they're calling me and asking me for payment. I liked their pricing. It was $30 cheaper. I should have gone with somebody else, though. Their customer service was horrible. They pass me from one person to the next person. Nobody had an answer. It was like the blind leading the blind. The quality of the equipment was good. I did have a couple of the door chimes that were dysfunctional. They finally sent me new ones, but they didn't send the equipment that I asked for. They sent everything else but what I asked. I'd tell others not to do it.

When I signed up, my experience with Alder Security was good, but the ending was horrible. I got the product, but I couldn't get it to connect. They told me that they don't have people that come out. I had to call a third party that was extremely hard to get in contact with. Then the third party set up an appointment and never came out. When I called the third party back to set up an appointment, they said they don't know how long it would be to get somebody out. They would have to call me when somebody was available, and they don't know when that's going to be.
I called Alder back and let them know what was going on. They said there's nothing they can do. So, I sent back all the equipment. Then it took them five weeks to give me back my money and they held $100 off that money. They didn't give me my full reimbursement. They said it was a restocking fee, but I don't understand why they had to restock my system when this was not our fault. It was a new service that couldn't even get hooked up. I explained that to them. I would understand if I hooked up the system and then wound up not liking it.

I saw that Alder Security was simple and I thought a technician would come out and install it. But it turned out I had to install it. The screws are very small and you need a particular screwdriver to reset their motion and their base to the alarm system when it shuts down. You cannot reset it when it shuts down. That's what I'm having a problem with them now. When the power was shut down, their system shut down. They told me they have a backup battery but they do not.
I'm in Peoria Housing Authority seniors building and I'm already missing $100,000 worth of my stuff at the apartment. I don't need the same incident that happened here. I gotta take a picture of every little single thing that I have when I moved and that's including food and everything else that I have. I told Alder that it doesn't make any sense that they're pulling money out of my account when I'm not fully secure. They gave me a choice to pay out of my contract or give it to somebody else that can take the responsibility. But who wants to take responsibility for a system does not even work?
I moved into my apartment in April and I had a problem then with my system. Alder is supposed to give me a new panel but every time I talked to someone, they would say they didn't say anything like that and that everything looks fine on their end. I told them that it went down again the second time when the power went out or when the janitors can go into the building and shut my power off from downstairs. You can open my door without this alarm coming on because that was what happened to me last Saturday. I came into my apartment and I set my alarm. I took my niece back home and when I came back, my alarm did not go off.
All of my coats, jackets, sweaters, anything that I thought that was hanging with a hanger, I took all that down off my racks and packed that up on the side of my bed and took pictures of them. Everything is all gathered up into three piles but all on one side. That way, I can see what is taken out of my house. I called this alarm system company explaining to them, "When this power shuts out, your system does not work." But they are not understanding that and they don't want to hear it. I told them today, "Do not pull out of my account because I will pull my card down because it's unfair for me to let y'all keep pulling out of my account for a system that does not guarantee any working." When you leave your house, you want to be secure.

I have Alder Security in one of my rental properties. I purchased it in January or February of this year and I have yet to be able to use it. It's just sitting there. I'm paying a monthly fee for it but the home is not secure. I've called Alder several times and I told them there was something wrong with the system but they refuse to send out a new system so that I can return the old one. I've been on the phone with them trying to troubleshoot the problem and the system is still not working. It's been horrible.
I have a security alarm in my home and if I had issues, they would just replace it. But with Alder, each person that I spoke to said the issue was not the system to just troubleshoot. I sat on the phone with them for two hours on three occasions and it didn't work and I just got tired. I want to return this and I want to refund it from day one because it's not working.

I liked Adler Security’s options and I could buy the set and everything that I have, rather than paying the monthly rental, which lowered my monthly bill. Plus, I could pay a year at a time and get two months free. I was able to buy the system, and then install it and get everything for less than half of what ADT was going to charge me. The system was easy to set up though the doorbell camera was a little tricky. But that was more because my router has both a 2.4 gig and a 5 gig and both of them have the same password at the same time, and it swaps between the two, whichever one's got more bandwidth. I had to separate those to where each had a separate password because the system only works on 2.4 gig. They advertised that they noted it.
Once I realized what was going on, I was able to get the camera hooked up without a problem. But I had a deal where I was playing with the control module. Unbeknownst to me, the trip switch on the back of it issued an alarm. My phone goes to silent at 11:00 at night and I'm playing with it sometime between 11:00 and midnight. They were trying to get ahold of me and couldn't because my phone was on silent. So, the next thing I knew, a cop was knocking on my door and was asking me if I was okay. So, their vigilance of the system is good.
I'm happy with Alder Security so far. I wish their accessories were a little cheaper though or that you could buy off-the-shelf accessories, like any webcam hooked to the system. I am planning on buying another outdoor cam and four more water monitors to stick under sinks. I'm looking to amplify the system. The outdoor camera, though they don't say and don't provide it, is capable of taking a solar panel charge unit to where you don't have to pull the camera down and charge it with a USB cord. You can just connect the solar panel with the charging type deal up to it and you never have to take it down. They don't advertise it and they only advertise the solar panel charging unit. So, you have to buy that off of Amazon.
Looking back through Adler's cameras, some of them had individual rechargeable battery cells, like C or D-sized batteries. It’s about as big as a fist type battery and it’s going to be hard to find the battery to replace it. So, you're gonna have to buy it from them. But I bought the solar panel and hooked up to it. It'd be nice if they had advertised that in their paperwork. If you have to take it down, you're charging the batteries that I have and my camera takes approximately 12 to 14 hours to get a full charge and that's with a rapid USB charger. But it lasts about a month and a half, depending on movement. And with the solar panel, you don't have to worry about that. It's charged all the time.

Ok I was told much later after much Run Around with this company that I was signed up for 5 yrs.! The SENSORS ARE NO GOOD. The sensor are easily jammable.. The system was bypassed too many times. I asked they send the contract but was told I will receive it in a few days & will have time to change my mind. Well the contract Never came and was over two weeks and having issues with the unit and the SENSOR. I was Not happy about this and complained to customer service (once I did get them 45min later). Then he sent me to tech support who tested the system and said they were sorry but it's "WORKING NOW".... I would hear too many times these same words as the months go on. "Sorry about that... We don't know what happened but it's working now". I can't count how many times.
I do not want this. It doesn't work. They insist on running their tests on the unit then say, "Well, it's running now. Sorry for the inconvenience." They are not listening.. The unit works Okay If you are Home and Never leave. If that's what you want GOOD For you! **Panel failure. ***Cellular Communication Down. ** Communication to base station down. The unit communicates it doesn't work. The SENSORS do not always work. ****One tech said, "They are magnets, they're not always going to work." I have my alarm on but once door opens the unit was still on arm.
The time I ran their test they sent police. Why? I say. "You said you would call me first before dispatching the cops." IF you were monitoring as you say you would have known I was home running your test. The tech support sent me to customer service. An hour hold total and then it's actually the same person. He says, "ya, I'm customer service too." Ask for a Manager if you are stuck with the run around like this. I sent nice letter of complaint with their unit asking they Cancel whereas they breached their contract they never even sent me till about 2 yrs later!
Recently asked they send letter to confirm cancellation but instead they send a bill saying for monitoring. They did not monitor as they say. This is how they monitor. Unit or no unit...the monitoring is the same!. One big lie! The unit has been with them since December so figure that one out. Maybe they consider customer service as "Monitoring." ¿ The unit tells you there is a problem when you look at it. It was down all day and No one Alerted me of it. Better to get a Dog!!!! Little by lil stuff out of my place and as I continue to pay for it. Really bad! You been warned.

I signed up with Alder in October 2020. I was looking for a alternative Security System than what I already had. Alder offered me a reduced price, and a 30 day cancelation period, instead of their usual 3 day cancelation period since I was unsure of signing up. I agreed to the *30 days.* I received the Equipment, and soon decided it was not for me. I canceled within those 30 days that I was promised and is STATED IN MY CONTRACT which I have proof of.
I also signed a written Contract Cancelation Notice form, and verbally canceled over the Phone as well, as instructed in the Contract, which I also have proof of. I was told when I gave my verbal cancelation that I would NOT need to return the equipment if my memory serves right, which I give Alder permission to playback the recording. I begun showing concern when I received a Collection Notice from Alder in the mail. I called Alder, and now the story is completely different. I need to return the equipment now. Well I requested a label mailed to me, which I didn't get since it was sent in the form of email, which would not work and I explained that since I do not have access to a Printer. I then made another request, to which I got the label and lost it, due to me having a very busy schedule, to which made me lose track of the label since it was something I set aside.
Today, I tried getting a label. I was told I'd need to contact Hillcrest Collections. I contacted them, to which they advised me that Alder provided them a copy of my Contract which was altered into saying "3 days" instead of "30 days" and never advised Hillcrest of my written cancelation signature. This is fraudulent on Alder's side, and I am taking this matter very seriously. My request to Alder is to advise the collection agency of the mistake, and close the account and zero out charges. If not, my next step would be to get in contact with an Attorney General and take Alder to court for misrepresentation of the Contract. Contact me ASAP to resolve this.

We were looking for a security company to meet our specific needs. Dad is in a wheelchair, We both work. We had paid for another "elderly type security company for a long time. It didn't meet our needs as a family. After a "hair-raising experience of the police" coming through our front door at 1AM in the morning and seeing ambulances and fire trucks out our window because of a faulty alarm system. We decided to find something that more fit our needs. I researched several and chose Alder Security, talked to a rep from the company and they seemed to fit our needs. They were listed in the top recommendations so we felt they were fine.
After.... We went through over the phone & internet contract "signing" the agent started to read it back to me, that's when the five year unbreakable contract came into sight!!! ... I was like whoa! But the agent was like "I'm sorry, too late, you already signed!!! ... Most contracts are 2 year minimum, NOT 5 YEARS.... We needed the safety type service for Dad... Not for "security purposes", so we could check on him throughout our day for a peace of mind he was ok. (And check to see that he hadn't fallen and was on the floor) We work a 6 minute drive away & take turns checking the security cameras during the day. Dad is now 80, and still in decent health despite the wheelchair, but if he should pass away we are stuck with a system we don't need any longer. We assumed Dad would probably make it another 2 years when we were looking... BUT questioned 5 years!!
We have called Alder several times about a 5 Year Unbreakable Contract! .... I had to put the contract in my name because Dad lost his ability to speak clearly from his stroke... And we handle all his finances. We ask if we could transfer into Dad's name when we found out it was a 5 year contract, in case Dad died. They said NO! We are ok with the system, sometimes it goes down and we have to figure out how to reset it.... And it uses two different apps for viewing which is a pain at times. Fo what we pay we haven't been totally satisfied.

It's not a complicated service but the areas of weakness were that they often didn't call for 20-30 minutes after the alarm went off and they didnt have the zones mapped properly to say which sensor had gone off. We lived with both of those situations but the reason for the poor rating is that they are dishonest. My wife and I were able to do it and my 13-year-old son was able to successfully do the cameras. We're highly enjoying the Alder security system. Each day, my wife is finding something new that she’d do through the app, to arm and disarm it. We feel a lot more at ease and a lot more settled in now that we have the security. We're also able to get the alerts on our phone every time a vehicle drives by the house.

I was signing up for a new service and Alder Security offered a free trial. We moved into a house instead of an apartment, so we opted to get a security system around our home. The rep from Alder explained the rates, why the system was going to be pretty good, how long I was gonna have it for, et cetera. She seemed very competent. The installation was pretty straightforward and easy. They had a pretty straightforward manual. One thing I thought was that the cameras are kind of stuck to a surface, but I had to drill holes inside of my house, which I was kind of surprised of.
I feel like some of their features are pretty limited. I have that big screen in my house, but it shows me alert and it shows me when the door opens. So, it's kind of pointless. I can talk to people on it. So, that's good, but it'll be nice if with all these cameras that I had in the house, I could use that big screen to look at things in the house or outside my house because I have window cameras on the side of my house.

I needed a system that I could watch the front of my store without it blinking out and then asking me if I was still watching. I can lose tons of merchandise by that blinking out if I can't see the front. So I chose to go with Alder Security. My salesperson was wonderful. But it took so long to get everything. When I asked them for a technician to come out because I really didn't understand it, they wouldn't send a technician out. If a new customer requests something like that, they should just go ahead and have their technician come out and go over it with their new customer instead of a lot of headaches. It makes them more reputable. But they just said that I could do it myself.
I ended up calling the 1-800 number for technical support. A couple of other gentlemen were very nice, patient and walked me through it. It may take a couple of tries to get the system together but other than that, it's fine. It's a good system and I like it. You can actually see everything that goes on and it doesn't blink out.

The support we receive from Alder is great but we have the consistent problem of the system going off without us or anything else triggering it. I reached out last night and they said they fixed it so I'm hoping it'll be fixed now. We only have one indoor camera and I wish that we could have gotten more cameras but I can't figure out a way going through Alder's website to order more.

The customer service was excellent, but the security system itself is really annoying. I don't really care for it because every time I touch it, it goes off. The police have come to my house three times while I was trying to set it up. But the customer service helped me figure out how to set it up to where if I move it, it doesn't go off. But for some reason, it reverted back to something. Everything else is great, though. I put up the system by myself and it was simple to do. The only thing that was not making sense was every time I tried to set it up, it told me to do a test. Then every time I did the test, it was calling the police, which was dumb. Also, I don't like how you have to have it plugged up in a wall. But all in all, I live alone and it helps me feel secure at night.

Alder had the best offer, specifically the price of the equipment and the monthly payment, so I went with them. I'm grateful that I chose them because they are amazing. The only thing I had problems with was trying to set up the camera to their equipment, but I didn't know it was through my phone. But everything else went very well. Everything is very simple to use. I like when the system goes off, it will let you know. It sends you alerts that each and every time that you go in and out your home. It’s running right. Everything is down pat. Everything is orchestrated right. I've been telling people about Alder.

I have the app. I like that I can see my house now that I have working cameras when I'm not home. Alder's sales representative was fine, but I had problems with the company. The first week was good, but the succeeding weeks were horrible. I ended up having to call back because my cameras weren't working. The representative that I spoke to said that he would send me some new cameras and to return the ones that weren't working. It was two outdoor cameras. But he sent me two indoor cameras.
When I called back, I ended up talking to nine different people because the first few had nasty attitudes and they were telling me that they couldn't send me any more cameras without me first returning the others. I told them, "I did not make the mistake. Y'all made the mistake." So, they said that they would give me a credit for this month's bill. I called yesterday because they made me pay full price and I went two and a half weeks with no cameras. The person I talked to yesterday ended up giving me a credit for the next month's bill. I'm just gonna see how this month goes. And if it's not good, then I plan on terminating with them and going with someone else.

Alder is a real security company. I've spoken with one representative on the information about my appointment and it was good. I just wish that I had known that for our camera to work, we just have to download the Alder app. And it was difficult setting up the account. The only thing I feel could be improved is the app. There are a lot of bugs with the log in system. I've had to reset my account a few times because I would go to log in and it would say something is incorrect, like my ZIP code. Other than that, our experience has been smooth. My alarm went off and they called me after 30 seconds.

When I was first moving, the rep asked me if I wanted a security camera. I said yes because I live in a bad side of town vibe and It's just me and my three boys. But I thought that it was coming with more cameras but there was just one. I was also supposed to be given a discount because they were three weeks late in delivering my service but I never got the discount. Other than that, I like that I'm able to look at it on my phone.

The experience with the Alder system has been great. I work in the industry myself, so that was one of the easiest systems I've set up. Last night, we had an issue and the lady spent over an hour with me trying to figure it out. It wasn't resolved. But she's going to talk with a supervisor and they're going to help me on Monday with it. Also, I got locked out of the app when I reupdated my phone. That is another thing they're working on getting fixed for me. When I need it, it's great, but a lot of times I just don't need it. But the user-friendliness is great and I love the fast response time. I don't have to worry about, “Am I gonna be waiting? Am I gonna have to argue with the company they dispatched if it's needed?”

To figure out how to set up the camera would be nice. I have called in to speak to somebody, but Alder Security said that I would need to get a laptop. It has a QR code on it that my phone could not read because the camera is messed up on it. And the only way to set it up is that way. Other than that, I had decent interactions with the reps.

I talked to the rep when I signed up for Windstream, and he explained all the details about the package and all the equipment that Alder would send out. I told him I would talk to my husband, so I did that day. And the next day, the rep called me back when he said he would and signed me up, so he was great all along. Somebody cuts the cable line into the house, you got no alarm. I chose Alder because they don't run on Wi-Fi. They run on cell phone towers. The rep was a down to earth guy. He wasn't one of those people who read out of a book. If I asked him a question, he gave me a good honest answer. I liked him, and that's why I bought the alarm. We're still trying to figure the system out. My wife gets up in the morning with a cup of coffee. She likes to open the front door and sets it off. We gotta reset the code. We're still getting to that point. We got windows and door sensors, and the cameras which I could pull up at any time on my phone, no matter where I'm at. I could be driving down the highway in Oregon, 3,000 miles away and I can see my front and back doors from that camera. We like it.

My mother died in December 2020, 10 days shy of her 83rd birthday. We discovered that she had some kind of "security" system with Alder, where they charged her $50 a month for a system that seemed to do no more than tell her when a door was open. We called almost immediately to cancel the service. They refused to discuss anything without my late mother's pass code, which was buried with her. When we finally were in possession of a code that was supposed to allow them to speak with us, they refused to discuss cancellation and transferred us to another department. That department also refused to say anything, other than to say the "request" for cancellation would be "reviewed." Little did we know they had already referred my mother to a debt collector, as a day later we received a letter demanding more than $2400!
Apparently, upon learning that my mother was dead, they immediately sent the case to collection. We have never seen a copy of the contract my mother allegedly agreed to, but based on the amount demanded it appears she was approached by Alder just prior to her 82nd birthday. There is no way my elderly mother would have knowingly agreed to a five-year contract that could not be cancelled even at death. The only explanation is misrepresentation and exploitation of the elderly. This company lacks and scruples and attorney generals across the nation need to take notice and take action to stop them from continuing to prey upon vulnerable older Americans like my mother. They are a disgrace.

I ordered Alder through a DirecTv promotion. The system was for my 84 yr old mom in another state. She was afraid to be home alone during the Covid stay at home directives. I thought someone would install it, but they do install to my surprise. I had to fly three hours from another state but waitress until mom could get her vaccine. I called Alder to ask for an extension on the 30 day trail. They agreed. My mom could not manage the complicated system. I called to return the items but they claim I didn’t get an extension. My mistake for not recording the conversation. DO NOT USE ALDER. DO NOT TRUST THEM! They couldn’t care less-they are thieves. They have hundreds of complaints. I’ve written to DirecTV as well.

Absolutely, under no circumstances do I recommend this company! We signed up for their security system on July 5, 2017. In October 2018, we bought a new home. After moving, our 2 choices with Alder were to re-sign a new 60-month contract or buy out of our contract at almost $3,000. Awesome choices, huh? Once we moved in to our new home, it took them 2 months... Yes, I said 2 MONTHS to send a technician out to install our system. Not only did we have to go buy temporary fire and carbon monoxide alarms, we had to pay our monthly fee even though we weren't receiving their services.
Fast forward a year and my family was on vacation when our fire alarm went off. Alder called and dispatched the fire department TO OUR OLD ADDRESS!!! For an entire year they hadn't updated our address in the security department. Oh, you can bet they had updated our address in their billing department though! Thankfully, the fire alarm was a false alarm (which happens FREQUENTLY) otherwise we would've lost our house. So now what we're left with, is a subpar security system with no cameras for the next 3 years. Do NOT make the same mistake we did!!!

I am a current customer and my wife and I are extremely unsatisfied with the product. Since I have bought into your program I have constantly had to call to get things fixed with regard to the panel. After finally having the product for 3 weeks, I called to cancel my contract. Now, I'm told that because my contract started on the day of me signing the contract as oppose to when I actually received and started the service, which was a week after, I am no longer eligible to opt-out of the program unless I pay $2,769.52 (90%). So, the company wants me to pay for a service that never fully worked (the calls have been recorded at your company as proof) and you all think this is how good customer service is rendered? If I have faulty system and my family feels unsafe how can I continue paying for a service that has failed?
