This is the biggest scam of a company! If I could leave zero stars, I could!! This company and its door to door sales team are dishonest! The way they do business is absolutely diabolical! For a company to trick people into signing a contract that they were told was a 1-year contract only to later find out it is 5-years is just wild! If you call customer service to have something fixed they won't you to fix it. Also, they do not answer your call and put you hold for over 20 mins. I do not recommend anyone to get a security system from this company! Save your money and time!

Beware of Alder Security. We signed a 3-year contract in 2020. In 2022 we called and said we would not be renewing the next year because we were building a new home. The representative said that once the contract was up in 2023 that he would move us to a month-by-month service. Today we tried to cancel our contract and were told that it had auto-renewed and that we would have to pay $1200 to end the contract. The representative told us that you can only cancel the contract on 15 days before it is due to end or that it will auto-renew again. You can't call and cancel it 6 months before it ends or even 16 days - only on the 15th day. This company is a scam! You will never be able to get out of the contract with them. We have been on the phone for 3 hours begging to speak to a manager!

I wish I could give ALDER a "0" star because this has been the worst experience I have ever had. I was originally with ADT, and an ALDER rep came to my residence claiming they were better and cheaper than ADT. Even though my ADT system was paid off. I listened and they talked a good game, and I was scammed. So much so I bought into the misleading info and ended up with 4 cameras, CO monitors, and an alarm system. ALDER reps were so eager with the scam they advised they had technicians in the area and could have everything installed that day. Me, being BOOBOO the fool, thinking wow this is a great company. So the contract was signed and the deposit paid and within 15 minutes the techs were at my residence with an installation team. Within 2 hours my cameras was up and running and they had ripped all my ATD systems wiring and system off the walls and windows.

Fast forward to the second month, my camera went offline. Here, I'm thinking, ok this great company will have no problems coming out to troubleshoot. So I called and here is where the problems start. I talked to a customer service and they wanted me to troubleshoot and I advised them the cameras were in an area that was out of my reach and I didn't feel comfortable. So she then says Ma'am it would be 3 months before someone could come out to troubleshoot the camera. I'm fuming now and asked if I was suppose to pay for equipment that was not working and was told "Yes". Because I may be credited for the nonworking camera days. Well, repairs took 4 months because they kept canceling my appt.

Since I had this ALDER system it has probably been online and worked properly for a total of 3 month straight with all camera working. Fast forward to 2024 with the same issues going on, they sent out a technician to fix camera and they advised they had a better system called CCTV. Another dumb move I agreed after I was ill-informed again it was going to be a second billing system. To come find out after being hounded for past due balance. After several emails, I see that as 8/2024 ADT brought out ALDER. I'm now red as a ripe tomato, quickly calming myself down. Saying ok I'm back where I began. It's 9/2024 my camera went offline so I called ADT because they brought ALDER and it's more problems.

Lo and behold, I talked to an ADT customer service and got a quick repose for a repair the next day. An ADT tech came to my residence and I explained the problems with the cameras. Now I get more crashing news because he advised me he could touch the camera without a paid service fee because it is not ADT equipment. Oh Boy! Here we go again as the tech said I need to contact ALDER!!!! It's late and I told him I would contact them tomorrow at work. But would you know, as I'm at work an ALDR rep shows up at my residence still trying to sell Alder equipment because he saw the decal in the front yard. Then he had the nerve to ask my husband for my SS#.

Luckily I was busy at work and unable to answer my husband's call. So, the next day I called ADT wanting to know why an ALDER rep was still coming to my house and why am I still being billed by ALDER. ADT rep said she didn't know why they did not transfer the CCTV with the alarm system and I would have to call then to have it transferred. I had time today 9/12/24, so I called with the first request to have CCTV cameras service transferred and I needed service. Again she told me the only available time a tech would be in my area is December and it would be a fee,

Also, I would have to bring my bill current first. Not when I was told by the last tech that he lives in my area and all they have to do is assign the job to him. Phone Rep states she could get an ALDER tech support on the phone and we can troubleshoot the problem via phone for free. I told them again I would not risk myself getting on a ladder and going up over ten feet to troubleshoot a camera. She then told me I would still have to pay for equipment even though it not working or pay the fee to have a tech come out. To put more icing on the cake I was informed I will still have to pay ALDER because they don't when, my unworking CCTV cameras will be transferred to ADT. I would not recommend to system to anyone!!!!

I was on the market for a home camera system, my mom has Alder so I inquired and asked her how does she like her camera system. She said she liked it so I reached out to Alder and inquired the NVR system, spoke to a representative, they was having some type of special signed the contract. They didn't have anybody in my area to install the cameras. This was back in May 2024. Fast forward August 12th 2024. They finally get someone to come out to install my cameras. They sent the technician out here. I stay in a two-story home, he didn't have a ladder to put the cameras up, had to go to Home Depot to rent a ladder. Home Depot didn't have one available so it was the next day Tuesday the technician was able to install some of my cameras. He installed three cameras, said he was going to be back the following morning.

Got a call from his supervisor at 4:00 a.m. telling him he had to return back to his area all there. Never called the customer to say the technician has to return back to his area, will have somebody else back out there tomorrow. I have wires hanging from my home. This experience with Alder has been a total disaster. I don't recommend them to anyone. I will be contacting my attorney about this issue. They suck. Do not use them. Customer service suck.

It was installed for my mother, they wanted $1500 to cancel when she moved. Then sold her a new system while telling her it would void the old contract. Still being charged for the old one which isn’t even being used and they want $1300 to break the contract.

I'm emptying my bank account and direct depositing elsewhere so Alder can no longer get my money and will come get this stupid computer out of my kids play area. That's their equipment to view. Not a panel. Then I'm gonna have to pay my landlord for their holes and damage with installation.

Horrible to get a cancellation. We tried hooking it up ourselves but it wouldn't work because our wifi was way too slow out in the country and we have to use a satellite dish which is $200 a month through Viasat which is the only provider in this location. We got hooked up with Alder through Viasat. Worst mistake ever, they wouldn't cancel or allow me to return within the first 30 days. I've paid $54.99 a month for over a year with no luck getting a cancellation. Customer Service is horrible, you get the runaround and who has time for that. Highly do not recommend. Given all that prior to the end of my contract, they kept giving me the runaround on canceling my service when they finally send me a letter they said my contract just auto renewed, now I'm stuck with them another year or pay a thousand dollar cancelation fee. My mother entered into a contract with Alder in 2008, they charge her $55/mo for equipment and $43/mo for monitoring. In 2015 she was diagnosed with dementia, however Alder contacted her for a free equipment upgrade-which never happened, instead they renewed her for another 5yr contract. I contracted them and my mother verbally authorized me to cancel this renewal. I was told she only had 3 days to cancel. Too bad. At that time I told them that we were giving notice to cancel service at the end of the contract ending in 2022. I finally received a copy of the contract, as my mother wasn't given one, and the signature doesn't even come close to her signature.

Well unfortunately my mother's health got worse and she is in Nursing Facility and I even sent a letter from her Doctor stating that my mother was diagnosed with Dementia prior to 2017. She does not own the house however they are still taking out her monthly amount of $98, they don't care that she is on Medicaid and only gets $50/month, instead they are demanding that I pay the remainder of her contract or have the new home owners take over. How can these people sleep at night taking advantage of the elderly & mentally ill?

What first appears to be a good thing, quickly becomes a rotten apple. The main issue will be when it becomes time to cancel services. Alder had reached out to me in October of 2023 about renewing my contract and I told them I would like to cancel services. The person I talked to at that time said she could cancel them now and I would just have to pay the remainder of the contract, or could wait until February 2024 when the contract expired. I told her I would rather just pay until February 2024. So I figured, problem solved and issue over.

It is now March of 2024 and lo and behold, there is the monthly recurring charge. I called Alder and was informed that my contract has been renewed until 2027 and to get out I need to pay an additional 1350 dollars. Beware, Alder Security is an absolute nightmare to work with and canceling services is way more difficult than it needs to be. Watch your bank account, they will take money even without your proper authorization. Customer service is definitely not located in the United States, and the two representatives I dealt with were difficult to understand, 1 tried to help and the contract manager failed miserably. Unfortunately, I do not still have the receipt from 2021 when I began this unfortunate relationship.

I REALLY wish I did my research before signing up for this security system. I have NOT had a fully functioning system since I signed up October, 2023. My cancellation request was the SAME month! You will get an unsolicited call from a Salesperson telling about all the benefits, FREE equipment (NOTHING IS FREE) and then once you sign up you will NOT hear back from the sales rep unless it's something positive. My rep ducked me as soon as I explained the issue. I understand that things happen but it's the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE that is surprising.

I've been trying to cancel over the last few months. They say a tech will come out in a few months and give me a credit as if that's all that matters. I truly don't care about a credit. If that was a concern then I wouldn't have signed up! EVERY time I try cancelling they find some reason why I can't. I was THREATENED today when discussing the cancellation. He said that I have to pay the cancellation PRIOR to cancelling at that the account will stay active. Okay, I have a fix for that! He got very irate, said I signed a contract and I did as I told him, it's a 2-way contract! They have not fulfilled their end and now you threaten me! I HAVE time today!!

Simplistic System with 5 year contract trap with no consumer protections. $49.99 per month for 5 years that increased to $54.99. To Cancel must pay 90% of 60 months, which is about $3,000, will auto renew for another 5 years unless canceled during 60 day window before contact renews. Also, must be done verbally and then written on their official cancellation form. I rarely used my system and eventually kept it unplugged for almost a year and never heard a peep from Alder. I called 4 times to get the official cancellation agreement and let them know verbally. Finally, I am getting close to my 60 day window "hallelujah" and they did not want to accept non-renewal and continue month to month. It took several calls and being passed around, then being offered another contract with an additional camera.

Finally, I politely threatened to call the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs, the retention rep then quickly ended the conversation and emailed a passive aggressive letter telling me that the service would not cancel unless the official document is signed and returned via mail within 60 days and the final balance of $148 was received. Also, that it would take 30 days or longer to stop the automatic withdrawal from my checking account.

The system sucks, the service is one sided and the months that I was using it, there were problems. There were false alarms from equipment malfunctions. The fact that I had to start working on getting the official cancellation document from them a year in advance, just to prevent a 5 year renewal for another $3,000, which would continue to renew every 5 years, should tell it all. But, I also paid almost $500 upfront initially, which would have covered the realistic cost of two outdated cameras and their board with 3 door sensors.

Run from this company they do not care about their customers. If your service is reliable then you should not need to trap people into a contract that is a huge challenge to cancel. I am sending my cancellation with a check today and directing my bank to stop all withdrawals from these people. It is the entitlement that they project rather than earning my business, that angers me the most. The worst because they are a wolf in sheep clothing.

Alder alarms operate as a predatory entity towards the elderly in Cleveland Ohio area. Today, Monday December 19th, 2022. We called attempting to discontinue the service for paid off equipment that has been in place since 2017 for my aunt who died on December 2nd, 2022. - After telling the customer service person (with a difficult to understand Filipino accent) 10 times with our request, we were transferred to another customer service representative with higher authority.

    - The Second customer representative (with the same difficult to understand accent) kept asking why we wanted to cancel and after telling him 10 times, he finally put us on a 10 minute hold another guy picked up the line. - This 3rd person still would not cancel the account. Instead, he began to embark in several tactics to prevent us from canceling.

    a) He began saying, we have had the service for such a long time why cancel now? We told him, we no longer want the service, as we have for the previous 20+ times. b) He then, said we are overdue an upgrade. He would upgrade the system at a discounted price. We said, "No thank you. Please cancel the account." c) He replied, "Well we tried to contact you to let you know about the upgrade but could not reach you." Our reply, "Please cancel the account. Moving forward, we will not pay for the service." d) He replied, "Well If you work with me, I can work with you." We replied, "I don’t need you to work with us, just cancel the service." e) He replied, "Well, We can talk about the contract you have with us, I can email you a copy and what it means." We replied, "We have been on the line for an hour now attempting to cancel the account of our deceased family member. Do not expect any payment moving forward," and hung up the phone.

In Summary, It is clear that these tactics are in place to prevent cancellations. Customers who have less patience or do not realize their rights will be held captive by their unsavory tactics. Our Home owners association will be notified of said tactics at our next meeting. God Bless and stay well.
