I contacted the company and was advised that the outside water emergency shutoff valve was covered under the policy. Based on that information, I hired a plumber to complete the repair. The claim was later denied on the basis that the valve is located outside the home. In Texas, outside shutoff valves—typically located near the sidewalk—are standard practice. I also made it clear during my initial call, more than once, that the valve was outside by the sidewalk. I was later told that the prior representative “must not have known” the valve was outside, which is inaccurate given the information I provided. I was subsequently informed that the policy does not cover any components that are not on or under the home’s foundation, which was not clearly disclosed at the time of my initial inquiry.

Additionally, the knobs on my cooktop were broken, making it impossible to determine whether the gas was on or off. I returned home one day to find the house filled with gas, which was an extremely dangerous situation. Despite the safety risk, I was told the repair would not be covered because the issue involved the knobs themselves.

On 2/19/26, I submitted a claim. When they spoke to my technician, who mainly speaks Spanish, they kept asking him what caused the failure of my AC unit. He answered, “These things happen.” They continued to question him, and he was trying to explain that it had been very cold in Texas a couple of weeks earlier. They ultimately decided to deny my claim. This is very disappointing, especially since I’ve been with them for a number of years.

We had the previous owner of a home we bought buy an Achosa Home Warranty due to the age of the home and its appliances. Achosa was recommended by the selling agent of our condo. Within a month of closing, the water heater started leaking and was tripping the breaker. The refrigerator would not dispense cubed or crushed ice (and turned out it had other issues, as well). I reported both these claims at the same time. A plumber and an appliance repairman came on the same day.

The water heater was deemed by the plumber to not be repairable and failed due to age. The refrigerator was repairable but not advisable to repair due its age. Achosa paid $1000 to help replace the water heater (they paid the tech by CC immediately over the phone). Achosa let me decide to apply the would-be repair bill (almost $800) towards a new refrigerator instead of simply repairing the refrigerator. The appliance repair place would not accept a home warranty payment, but I would have been allowed by Achosa to pay the company myself and get reimbursed, had I gone that route.

This is the second time that I have filed a claim with Achosa for damage in my home. Both times Achosa has miscommunicated the scope of work and intentionally led my contractors astray to limit the payment that they will reimburse. After speaking with several Achosa team members and their supervisor, they continue to ignore my invoice details and stick to their fabricated story. Disappointing. There is a reason this company has only 1 star. Avoid at all costs.

One of my air conditioners was out of Freon. Blowing warm. I chose my own air conditioning repair company. They said it was a bad coil. Achosa approved the repair plan. They paid $2,500 of the bill. Easy and no stress. My technician said they were the best to work with in his experiences versus other home warranty companies.

I own a residential appliance repair company. I have worked with Achosa on multiple occasions. One big problem with them is when I'm on the phone with them while at the customer's home. They always try to get you to say the wrong thing so they can deny the claim. They have even twisted what I've said to deny the claim. The final straw was two days ago, I found a bad bake/broil thermostat on a high-end gas range. They asked me what caused the failure. I told them there was no way to know, but since it was only a few years old, they arbitrarily decided it could not be normal wear and tear and denied the claim?? I did not recommend this company and I will never do work for them again. Horrible business practices and just your typical insurance company. Happy to take your money but always do their best not to pay out.

I would give -10 stars. Predatory and will purposely delay the process of your claim via endless phone calls with people in Colombia that resolve nothing. My claim was very cut and dry but it went into the circular hell that scam warranty companies do to wear you down. Don’t waste your money or time with Achosa Home Warranty. They are terrible and you’ll never get resolution or payment.

I paid for the Achosa Home Warranty for three years and never once had a claim successfully paid. In the two and half years I had three different sales executives assigned to my policy. During my last attempt to use the warranty, the repairman and I were given the runaround to by the claims representative at Achosa, requiring additional procedures and expenses that I would had to absorb prior to authorizing a claim.

I called my sales representative who said he would return my call in twenty minutes, for he was in a meeting, but he never called me back. The next day I call my representative again and told him I wanted to cancel my policy due to incidence from the day before, for I was out the diagnostic fee without the repair being completed and he told me he was on the phone but would take care of cancelling the policy for me. Point being, he could not have cared less and like the two representatives prior to him, he was likely soon to quit as well. As a licensed real estate broker, I do not recommend this company, for it's the wiser to put the $575 dollar policy fee and in an account to be used for future repair.
