I purchased an RCA LCD Flat Screen TV with built-in DVD player December 23, 2008. April 2009, we had the TV on and all of a sudden lost picture - still had sound but no picture. I called RCA. They said it was under warranty, but we would have to pay labor cost for the repair. They said I could take it to a local area business for repair and all I needed to do was show them my receipt from the store that I purchased it from. I called the repair shop May 18. They informed me that I needed to call Walmart (the place where I purchased it) and have an electronic receipt sent to them so they would get paid for the warranty work. Personally, I feel that the TV being only 4 months old when it stopped working should not cost us anything for the labor or repair. We have always purchased RCA for over 30 years, and this is the first time we have ever had anything go wrong with a set. I am not very pleased with the quality of the product... at least when it was working it worked fine... but dependability is not very good.

On December 18, 2008, we purchased a 32" RCA Flat screen TV. On Sunday, May 17, 2009, the picture tube went out. Once the TV cooled off, it came back on. Then it went off permanently. We have only had this TV for 5 months. We took it back to Wal-Mart only to find that they only take returns or exchanges for 90 days. We were told to contact RCA directly. We contacted RCA and they advised us that we should take the TV to an authorized service agent, which we did and was informed that RCA did not cover the labor. They cover the part if they could find it because our model is now discontinued. This just isn't right. The TV is only 5 months old and it broke down, and we have to pay the labor charges. I will take this much further. It's the principle and not the amount of money that we paid for the TV. I will never buy an American brand electronics item again!

I purchased two RCA 32in. w/ DVD player for my mother and mother-in-law for Christmas ’08. They are only 4 1/2 months old and both went dead within 2 days of each other. RCA sent us to 3 different repair centers who all want $175.00 just to look at them and told us we would have to pay an hourly rate on top of this to repair them. That’s $175.00 each.

I purchased a 52" RCA HDTV from Walmart and, within 3 years, sitting in my living room with my son watching this TV, it just went out. I have not been able to get the TV back on and it is now out of warranty. I had a repairman come out and he tried to order parts for the TV, which he stated "No one has the part". I am now stuck with a TV that I can't have repaired due to parts not available. I feel that either Walmart or RCA should hold accountability to the issues found with this HDTV. This is not a consumer problem. It is a problem with the malfunction of the product. I would like an attorney to contact me if you are reading this. Thanks.

I purchased a 32" LCD RCA TV on 7/15/2007. The night of 4/27/2009, it was working fine. I tried to turn it on the next morning (4/28/09), and it would not come on. I unplugged everything and tried again but nothing happened. I moved it to another outlet, and it still would not come on. I tried to turn on the remote and the power button on the TV. I contacted customer service on 5/6/2009. I was told it was out of warranty, which I knew was only for one year. They said there would be a warranty fee, which I don't know how much that is yet, and also a one way shipping fee of $189 plus tax. I have only had the TV for 21 months. This is an outrageous fee to charge. I have a VCR and cable box on the same outlet it was on, and they are working fine. I won't ever be purchasing an RCA again. They don't stand behind their products. Now I know why the warranty was only for one year. That's all it's good for. Whatever you do, don't buy an RCA.
The TV cost me $700. You would think it would be good for longer than 21 months. I don't have the money to send it to them and don't feel I should have to. It just quit working.

We purchased an RCA 36-inch flat screen and the first month we had it, we started having problems. It has been in the repair shop since March and still, it's not repaired. The part that went out is under warranty and the repair shop is still waiting on the part. They tell me RCA is not sending the part. I will never buy RCA products again. They're worthless.

We bought an RCA 52" projector TV. We had to replace it within the first month; that should have be an indicator. The bulb went out 9 months later. We replaced that to the tune of $200. The sound had never been right. Now, the color wheel is gone and the local repairman can't get one. He has had one ordered for another person since Jan. 09. I don't know what you call disposable income but $2000 is way too much.

I bought an RCA 52" HD Big Screen television. After having the television just 3 years, my television picture went out. I try to turn it back on, but the only thing that happens is the green light on the power button comes on and stays on a few seconds and then goes off. I paid $1500 for the television and I am very upset that it only lasted a short period of time. RCA should be ashamed of themselves. This is nothing but a big rip off!

I bought an RCA 50" model number M50WH72S. It is about 2 years old and works when it wants to. When you turn it on, you get a sound. But where the picture is, there is solid white with black dots all over it. You have to turn it off and on several times and just maybe you'll get a picture. After a while of watching, the color starts flashing like a strobe light (which is bad because I have a 2-year-old son, who is diagnosed with epilepsy) and goes back to the white screen. I paid a lot for this TV and am now laid off. I can't afford to shell out money to have it fixed. I called RCA and they referred me to a repairman that will charge me $75 just to walk in my house.
I wrote them a complaint on the RCA site and only got referred to a Thomson Network number that when I called it, they only told me to call another repairman who would charge me to come to my house. This is pathetic. They should make the TVs last longer and not sell junk like this. I have smaller TVs that have lasted longer over 6 years old. I had wanted a bigger TV and got stuck with this crap in my living room that won't even work.

The warranty went out on 03/01/09 and RCA told me that they would only pay for parts and we would have to pay for labor. They gave me a case # and told me to get Chase Ent (the repair shop to send for authorization for the motherboard). I talked with Chase today and they stated that I needed to call RCA and get on them regarding the part that they had not sent. I called and they stated that my case had been closed. I got very angry and told the rep that we had never received the part and that I was going to get an attorney regarding this matter. He then said that he would reopen our case and gave me a new case #. I feel like we have been treated unfairly. We paid 618 dollars for this TV and had to give Chase $50 deposit before they will fix it. Please let me hear from you.

I purchased a 50 RCA DLP from Wal-Mart in February of 2006. I purchased the 2-year extended warranty, which would expire around February of 2009. Two weeks ago, my wife turned on the TV and there was a black screen. I called the tech support and they had me unplug everything and plug it back in. When I did that, I got a picture but everything was pink. They told me to take it to an RCA-authorized repair center. After they had it for 2 weeks, they stated that it was the DM-3 module (whatever the heck that is). The repairman said it will run around $600-$700 to repair it. I got screwed! I got a TV that is a piece of crap! If there is a class action suit, count me in! I will never purchase another RCA product ever again!

In December of '08, the set turned off by itself and although the red light blinks then stays solid, the TV does not turn on. I paid $800 for the set on sale, $80 for a repairman to check it out, only to learn it would take $300 to repair it (I asked the specific problem, but he stated a resistor possibly blew). I didn't get it fixed.

We did and got a recording and each time we called, we got the recording with no one to talk to but a machine. We did get someone today and they told us they have not got a claim yet from whom we talked to first and they would not come out until they did because they wanted to get paid this time. So we called back to the # on our Walmart receipt and they said, "Well, they should have gotten it by now. They should call you Monday." It is Friday and we shall see. I purchased an RCA R52WM24 projection screen TV in June '06. The picture is messed up now. Large bow at top and bottom of screen, color is separated, image is tripled, and a green red and blue line runs through TV. Picture is not in focus. I paid $800 for this TV and it is out of warranty. I called the service center and they told me to go the set up menu and click on Convergence but my set has no Convergence tab. They told me to call service center and gave me numbers. I have not called the service center because I know it will be at my expense. $800 TV should last longer than this one has. We were watching the TV and, all of a sudden, it turned off and then back on several times. I unplugged it and left it for about 2 hours. It came back on for about 5 minutes and then turned back off. I unplugged it for another hour and plugged it back in. It worked for about 5 minutes and then turned itself off and back on, then off again and didn't come back on. This is ridiculous to have a TV for 2 1/2 years and for it to tear up like this. It should be recalled. I see all the other complaints. I don't know why something hasn't been done. I have been trying to get my refund for a DVD/VCR recorder for 5 months. All I get is the runaround. It seems that overseas they do not know what the term customer relations means in English. Besides, it is very hard to understand them with the heavy accents. All I get is the same answer that someone will get in touch with me. The problem is nothing ever happens. It has taken 4 months to talk to someone, who said they were a supervisor, but who knows if that was a real person or just another agent in their call center. Someday I hope to get my money back. I have been calling and writing letters. Now the BBB is involved since I contacted them about their business practices. I tried to find out who is running Thompson Inc/RCA and send them a letter, but they are hiding behind closed doors. I could not locate them, but I will keep trying. I bought a 50” RCA DLP TV from a local merchant in 2005. I had problems with it coming on and shutting off by itself within a month of buying this thing which I paid $2,300. I sent it back to be repaired. Same problem, then the noise started getting louder. The warranty went out which was useless anyway. These TVs and from what I've read, all RCA products are junk. These people should be held accountable. If nothing else ban their products from being sold in US. About 3 years ago, we bought a TV from a Dish Network dealer. They were having an HD promotion and were selling 37-inch HD monitors (model #D34EW16YX1) that were produced by RCA. We have been very happy with it until a few months ago. We've started leaving it turned on because it won't come back on if we turn it off. I read a similar complaint - the same thing was happening to them: we try to turn it on and the green light on the power button comes on and goes off 3 times, and then you have to wait about 45 seconds after the third blink to try again.
Today, my husband discovered a way to get it to come on after several tries the old way. He held the power button down on the second blink, and it came on after a few attempts. Now I'm concerned that, like those other people experienced, it'll start turning itself off. So far, we haven't tried to have it repaired and can't afford to. Neither can we afford to replace it so we'll have to do without if it goes completely out. It's really frustrating. I realize that years ago most people didn't have a TV, but it will be difficult to go without the news or our most frequently used source of entertainment.

I am one of the many people that bought a DLP TV from Walmart with a service contract. It seems that this TV has many problems, but the most common is the lamp goes out often and it is not covered under the service contract which costs me $200 to replace. I now know that Walmart knew of this problem but still sold them anyhow. Also when you call RCA, they claim the lamp should last 2000 to 3000 hrs. Mine lasted about 1000 hrs. How can they (RCA) get away with this? Something should be done, like a lawsuit against them.

I have only had my RCA 52" HDTV for about 2-3 years and now the convergence is going out on it. I have been trying to do some research on how to fix the issue and it looks like I am going to have to pay upwards to $500 to fix. I am reading about a lot of people getting the same issue and having it around the same duration. Did they start using cheaper parts so they could get more money? I would love to go out and buy a brand new TV but I don't think I should have to. These TV's should at least last 5-10 years for as much as you pay for them. I am curious about the lawsuit and I don't think us, as customers, should have to put up with crappy customer service and ridiculous repair issues. So please respond back with any information I can get on being compensated for buying which is now a 52" HDTV paperweight.

My husband purchased an RCA 42inch LCD HDTV from Wal-Mart in Alex City, Alabama on 11/04/07. Big mistake. Well, it worked fine for about five months. It started getting lines going across the screen. This went on for a couple of weeks. I had to turn the TV on and off to make it stop. It kept coming back. I returned my cable box and it seemed to go away but it started again and it just stopped. The lines went away. But in November, one year to the date of purchase, it stopped working altogether.
This is the good part. We have an extended warranty so we called and got someone to come and look at it on Dec. 16, 2008. We were told it needed a chip and they would get back to us. Well, when we called in January on the 5th, they said they had the part but we had to wait for approval. I don't know what that means. We called back again and we were told it's on backorder. That's when I went on my computer to see if this TV was on some kind of recall. If the part is on backorder, that's how it sounded to me. I was shocked to see all the people on here and it really made me sick to think we all got taken by this company. RCA, you can't hide forever.
My husband waited a long time to buy this TV. He said it was a lot of money to spend on a TV. Now, we look at it sitting there, it really makes you sick to think something that you should have for years to enjoy we only had a year at a cost of $100 a month. Right now, it hurts in the wallet. We are paying for something that doesn't work and we paid for the warranty for $78.88.

We purchased an M50wh72s RCA television from Walmart in Dec. 2007. We started experiencing problems in November 2008. He told my husband how to remove the lamp and told us to ship it to them (at our own expense) and they would send us a replacement part. We sent it to them on November 22, 2008. We received our replacement part on January 8, 2009. My husband was so excited that the part had come. He proceeded to install the part just as he had taken it out. The TV still is not working.
We called RCA back and they gave my husband the numbers of local repair people that will come out and take a look at it. We called several and most did not do house calls. Then, we called RCA back and they gave us more numbers of repair shops. We called one and he said that RCA would have to send him authorization before he could take a look at it. I thought that this was just one out of 100,000 that was messed up. I purchased RCA because I thought that it was the best that money could buy. I purchased an RCA 32 LCD HDTV from Walmart in August 2007 for my mother. In September of 2008, the picture stopped working and displayed small random gray lines. I contacted RCA/Thompson Customer Service via email through their website. I explained what happened and stated that although the television was barely out of warranty, I felt they should do something as an expensive item such as this should last longer than a year (at the time of purchase the TV cost nearly $900.00 USD). I promptly received a reply in which was a phone number that I was to call. I called the number, and not only did I not get to speak to a human (I didn't expect to), but there wasn't even a menu to walk through. It simply stated another number to call that would help me locate an authorized service center.
So I took the set to a local repair shop that I trust. They told me that they do not work on RCA as they are a nightmare to deal with (won't provide them with needed parts, manuals, etc.). They also advised that RCA nowadays is total junk. This shop referred me to another that does perform RCA repair; and I just got the news it'll cost $353.00 to fix the television and RCA cannot say when they will be able to provide the needed part! I asked the service guy if this was common; he said it was and that it's anybody's guess when the part was available. It could take months. Yes, months. I am extremely disappointed with RCA. I am not going to waste any more time with them. I can get a new set for slightly more than the cost of repair. And judging from what I read here, it will only be furthering my problems. I have made it my mission to tell anyone that I can to not purchase anything with the RCA label.

I was transferred to Iowa, Texas, and Philippines. Finally, a customer relations agent came on the phone and told me that they were out of stock of the one I had purchased and had no idea when they would get another one in and offered to refund min. amount unless I could fax them proof of purchase. So I went to Office Max and faxed all the info - the receipt, letter from me, etc.
I kept the proof of transmission being received and kept all copies. I didn't hear anything so on Jan. 2, 2009, I called Customer Relations again. Of course, I was informed that they did not receive any fax. It's unbelievable what I have gone through with Thomson, Inc. I used that recorder for DVD Photo Discs and it cost me $211 which to me is a lot of money. This is unfair to the consumer and RCA needs to check into who is repairing or in this case ripping off their customers.

In February 2008 my husband bought a 32' plasma TV from WALMART for his and my birthday. Only a few months later, we were watching it and it suddenly turn off. We did everything the manual said and still nothing. When I contacted RCA to see what they were going to do about it, and all I got was, "We'll have someone call you in three to five days." Six days later still nothing, so getting impatient and upset I called them back and still no answer. So I called again and the customer service would only telling me the warranty over and over like I was deaf and didn't understand English. Then they told me that the warranty wasn't any good and that I would have to wait another three to five days to get a call from a warranty specialist.
Well after waiting again, still no call. When I called again, I was put on hold for thirty minutes then hung up on. So I called back again wanting to talk to a manager. The people in customer services wanted to give me the runaround again and not let me talk to a manager and hung up. So getting very upset, I called back again and the lady finally transferred me to the manager. When the phone just kept ringing for twenty minutes without any answer, I hung up. I then called Best Buy Geek Squad and they called RCA for me and got a manager on the phone.
When I talked to the manager, he told me that I need to give him a credit card number so that they can charge me two hundred dollars to get the TV replaced because they will not fix it, when the warranty was still good. I could go on and on. I once thought that RCA was once a quality AMERICAN company. I guess I was wrong. RCA should know stand for RIPPING CUSTOMERS OFF IN AMERICA. And Walmart should be ashamed of themselves for selling the RCA label. Now the only thing our nine hundred dollar TC is good for is collecting dust on our TV stand.

In June of 2006, I purchased a RCA HD50DLP175 from PC Richard. Two days after I get it I was seeing blue spots on my screen. Called the store and they sent out their tech 3 days later and he had to sched. a pick up because he couldn't get the part installed in my home. Kinda of defeats the purpose of in home service. Anyway, got that fixed and two years to the day almost, my TV went black. Called RCA and they said of course out of warranty. I said for $2,000 they could do better than that. I got one of their "official" repair shops in my area and they claimed at first it was the color wheel. Then about a week later they said it was the light engine and that it would cost me about $1,000 to fix. RCA was of no help again. Poor attitude. Worst customer service. I say boycott RCA altogether. For that much money I should have gotten more than that out of a tv.

I bought a L42WD22 RCA TV from Walmart not even a year ago and it quit working. Will not even turn on and after arguing with the cable people thing, the cable was out. I called Walmart and they will not take the TV back. Said for me to call RCA direct which is Thomson INC, P.O. Box 671988, Marietta, GA 30006-0034 and this company proceeds to give me the runaround telling me I need to pick this TV up, haul it 2 hours away and have my receipt in hand in order for it to be determined if it is even covered on the warranty. I am already into this process a month. It took a month just to get something other than a machine on the phone... so basically I have a nice dust collector item which cost me $1000.00.... At this rate, I cannot locate my receipt and I have proof by bank account where I bought the TV and they will not accept this for proof...

My name is Sharlane **, my RCA Case # **. I purchased a BRAND NEW RCA TV on 11/4/07 from Wal-mart. The TV broke on August 29, 2008 and that's where my nightmare began. I've spoken to 5 customer service representatives, 1 supervisor, and 1 manager Joseph ** and to no avail I still don't have any resolution. The RCA call center has been completely unacceptable and I'm at my wit's end with the incompetent level of customer service I've received. I've troubleshot my TV and have been waiting for a prepaid return label for over 3 weeks now. When I called on 10/12/08, I was advised by the supervisor that the label was mailed to the incorrect address; I gave the Supervisor the correct address however at this time I still have not received the returned label.
The TV I purchased comes with a year warranty that I've misplaced. I've asked for the warranty to be mailed to me and I was advised that the warranty could not be mailed to me however I could go online to retrieve a copy of the warranty. I was given the website thomsoninc.com by the supervisor and manager; that website doesn't exist; therefore I can't get a copy of the warranty. From what I've been advised the warranty will only replace the TV for the 1st 90 days for parts and anything after 90 days, you would have to pay $109 (and some change) exchange rate and I'll receive a refurbished TV. Why would I receive a refurbished TV when I brought a brand new TV, wouldn't my TV fall under the No Lemon policy? I only have 12 business days to resolve this matter. I believe that the RCA call center is trying to purposely sabotage me from receiving a refurbished TV. Could you please assist me with resolving this issue?

I called the number provided to me for help with my HDTV. I bought it almost 4 years ago and paid $1,500. for it, now it will not come on. I have checked the power outlets. This is frustrating because they told me to take it in and have fixed. I lost my job and now I have no t.v. because they don't stand behind their products to make them last. I checked several websites before I called RCA. My question was whether it should be on a recall because I noticed there was someone complaining of the same thing that has a similar t.v. How does a company know whether there is a problem and there should be a recall? I am a consumer that spent money on their product and now all they can say is it is not a recall and that I cannot be transferred. How do I know if they have my best interest? All I wanted to know is how do I make a complaint about their t.v. because if there is someone else with a similar situation then I think it merits investigation. Sometimes people want to feel that what they have to say is important and that they are being listened to. The economic cost for me was $375. a year for a television that now will not power on.

Here comes xmas and they are going to rob children. How many people have to be ripped off before these thieves are stopped? Walmart's hands are not clean either they keep selling this junk and then plead ignorance. What is Walmart doing about all the complaints? Walmart should stay where they came from. We used to have quality products now we have junk and Walmart allows it to happen......The only good that came out of this is I now have the time to complain to tv stations, ombudsman, w5, politicians and I won't stop. I purchased an RCA 19 TruFlat TV model #14F512T - Serial # G062E0833 from Walmart not knowing that the company was under scrutiny for manufacturing defective products since moving their business overseas, not that that surprises me. The TV came on by itself at three o'clock in the morning scaring me half to death and I could not get it to go off, not by using the remote or by using the power button on the set itself. I had to actually unplug the power cord. They told me someone would call me back but I have not heard anything yet. When these products were being made in the United States, they were reliable and would last for many years with very little repair cost and RCA would always stand behind their Product. I guess since they have moved their operations, they don't feel any obligation to the country or the people that helped establish their prosperity. It would take them returning to the United States and lowering the cost of their products to show their desire to right the wrong they have done before I would ever purchase any product with the RCA labeling on it again. Hope we can all stand together on this one.

Well, here we are again color doing the same but now with added bonus of the the set shutting off whenever it feels like and we have to wait a few minutes to be able to turn it back on. Remote will not work when this happens. The repairmen came to house and stated they needed to take the TV into their shop for repair, so now we wait to see if they come up with the problem. We did thankfully buy the extended warranty, so the repair shop is working with us but like I said this is the third time in 3 years we have had a problem with a 1200.00 dollar TV. So now we are without a TV and we have no idea for how long. Something needs to be done about the junk sets that are being sold. RCA needs to be held accountable. We should file a class action suit.

After receiving the second TV, I plugged it up and the sound/volume was very distorted. I contacted RCA Customer service again and they told me that I would have to ship the TV for replacement. Please keep in mind that the Customer Service is horrible and they refuse to let you speak to a Manager. So I was very upset to have received a refurbished TV that didn't work. I shipped the second TV and they received it on Sept 19 2008. I waited for a couple of weeks with no word from RCA. I decided to call RCA Customer Support on 10/7/08. The representative, Ark, told me that they hadn't shipped my TV out yet. I was furious because according to their WARRANTY, once they received the trouble set, they would ship the replacement within 7-10 business days. Only after I called, I received the replacement on 10/09/08. If I wouldn't have called RCA, I guess I would still be waiting on my TV set.....
After I received the set on 10/09/08 and GUESS WHAT!, the volume/sound is distorted on that TV as well. I am so frustrated with this company. I have recently discovered that there are so many other people with serious complaints against this company. I purchased a 32 inch RCA TV from Walmart just for the super bowl earlier this year. Because I travel in my job, the TV was probably watched literally about 5-7 times. I went to turn the tv on and it would not come on. I called Walmart first who stated the TV was still under Manu warranty; to contact RCV. I called and was advised that the tv was under manu warranty and that I had to fax a copy of the receipt which I did. I was told that once the receipt was confirmed, I would receive a call as to what to do next.
I did receive the call in which they said they can hold $900+ on my credit card if they sent the replacement tv first or I could send the defective tv and within 7-10 days of receipt, they would send the new tv. Well, I chose the latter. I was told they would send a shipment label. I requested that they send if overnight due to I was going to be gone for 5+ weeks due to my job. They said they would and that I would have the label by July 17th am, the morning I was to leave town. Well, the label never came. I spent HOURS on the phone to get a confirmation number of the fedex shipping label. All they would give me was their FEDEX shipping number for the TV to be sent back.
I spoke to 2-3 people including a supervisor who could not give me the fedex number and told me to call fedex. All I was looking for was to be able to go on the fedex website, to confirm the label was sent and to see where it was in order to determine if I should wait for it or leave for my business trip. Thankfully, my UPS mailbox guy said to bring the TV to him and he will have it shipped once the label was received. Well, the label did not come for one week. And when it did, it was regular mailed on July 17th, the day I was suppose to receive the the fedex to ship the TV. Once received, the TV was shipped asap.
However, RCA did not confirm they got the TV for 2 WEEKS after is was shipped; confirmed on August 12, 2008. Since then - and still many phone calls - they have yet to send my TV. Today's date is Sept 17th. So, in calling RCA, I inquired on why the TV has not been sent. The same answer EVERY TIME, out of stock. As I told them, it is hard for me to believe they are out of stock on 32 inch TV's. And now I am told that it may not be the TV I purchased but a similar replacement (which may not match my decor). Either way, it is way past the 7-10 days after receipt of the TV and one unhappy customer.
I will NEVER puchase another RCA product - EVER! Today I was told that the number I call is located in the Phillipines. I inquired on a phone number within the United States. It's no shock that they could not provide that either. I inquired that if they had to make a phone call or communicate with someone in the USA, who would they call. They said they don't call or communicate with the USA. Interesting to say the least. So, I am thankful that while looking for a USA phone number, I came across this website.
I am paying for an extra cable box that has no tv attached to it. I am extremely upset that RCA does not stand behind their products better and they treat customers the way they do. I actually went shopping for a new DVD player and saw one I liked. It said RCA - I bought something else. I would like to know if this is a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act or something similar. I could only imagine what would have happened if I gave them my card number and had them hold the money until they sent the replacement tv.

So we bought the 46" LCD TV for our entertainment room. A couple months later we bought a RCA 26" LCD TV for our bedroom. Seven months later we were watching TV on the 46" TV and the picture went black. We tried everything we could to get the TV to turn back on. The three year warranty we bought from Wal-mart would not start tell November 2008. So we called RCA to find out who we need to bring our TV to. They gave us three different shops in Salt Lake City, UT. We brought our TV to Bob's Electronics on June 4, 2008.
Bob's Electronics found that we only needed a $120.00 dollar part to fix our TV. The part's name is Power Supply; and the part's number is 274731. Our TV was gone for about three weeks, so we called RCA to find out what was going on. Customer Service told us on June 23, 2008, that the part should be on its way. They told us to call back on June 27, 2008 to make shore the part was sent. We called a few days later and Customer Service says our part is on back order. We then called back on July 14, 2008 and they told us our part was still on back order.
Around July 16, 2008 we call RCA Customer Service to get an update on the part. Customer Service says that the part was still on back order. I told them that I want someone to look into this. So they gave me the phone number to Customer Relations. I wonder why they did not give me this option three weeks earlier? We then set up a case number, which is 2XXNW. Customer Relations told us they had to have a faxed copy of our receipt. They told us that once they got the fax they would look into our claim and get back to us.
July 18, 2008 we call Bob's Electronics to get an update. They tell us that they cannot get the part through their dealer. So we then call RCA Customer Relations and tell them that our service shop cannot get the part through their dealer. They tell us that the part is on back order but that they will do a global wide search for the part.
July 22, 2008 we call Customer Service and talk to David. He says that he does have a part and that it is shipping from Illinois. He tells us to call Bob's Electronics and tell them about the shipment. So we call Bob's Electronics and told them that the part was on its way from Illinois. Bob's Electronics calls Illinois and asks for an order of conformation. The Illinois company tells Bob's Electronics that the part is on back order tell August 12, 2008.
July 24,2008 Bob's Electronics finds the part in stock, online with Andrew's Electronics in California. They order the part online from Andrew's Electronics. RCA never told us that Illinois was on Back order. July 28, 2008 I call Bob's Electronics to check up on the part. They told me that they had switched their order to a company in California. They told me they did it because the part would get to them faster from California then Illinois.
RCA never told us that Illinois was on Back order. I called RCA Customer Relations after I found out Bob's Electronics had changed their order. They told me that they will look into it and call me back in two to five business days. I told them that I was getting sick of the games. I told them I wanted my money back. They told me that they could not do that because a part was on the way. I asked them how they were going to compensate me for all the days I did not have my big screen TV. At this point our TV had been in the shop for 44 days. They told me that they will add onto my warranty the number of days that our TV was in the shop. Why would I want to add days to a warranty that cannot even be honored! They told me to write a formal letter to cooperate.
Later that same day I call back Bob's Electronics and ask them for a tracking number. The only number they could give me was the order number and the companies phone number. So I call Andrew's Electronics and they tell me that the order number means nothing to them. They looked up Bob's Electronics and told me that Bob's Electronics had not ordered anything. I ask them if they had the part that we are looking for. They told me the part is on back order tell August 12, 2008. I then call Bob's Electronics and tell them that according to Andrew's Electronics their order number means nothing and they claim that Bob's Electronics had never ordered. On top of that, Andrew's Electronics is on Back order. Bob's Electronics got very frustrated and told me to call back the next week.
July 30, 2008 I call Bob's Electronics and they tell me that they should have the part by the next week and have our TV fixed. That next week would be August 3rd through the 9th 2008. August 7, 2008-- Eight business days after RCA Customer Relations told me they would call back, Bob's Electronics got a phone call. Bob's Electronics told RCA that they were waiting for a part to be shipped to them on August 12, 2008.
Bob's Electronics calls my husband and tells him that RCA had called and that they had told RCA they were waiting for a part to be shipped on August 12th. RCA told Bob's Electronics that if they did not have the part by the end of the next week, they would compensate us or they would figure out our options. The same day RCA called Bob's Electronics, RCA calls me. The lady representative happily tells me that she found a part and that we should get it by August 12, 2008. She told me that if I did not have the part by the end of the next week that she will talk about our options.
When my husband and I return home from another long day of work, we compared our phone calls. I felt that I had been lied too! First of all week after week RCA would tell me ether a part was coming or they were looking into it. Second RCA told me they would call me back in two to five business days, and they called me in eight. Third My RCA representative got the part order date from Bob's Electronics; and on that same day told me that she had found the part and when it would come!
We have not even had this Big Screen TV for a whole year. As of today our TV has been gone for 67 days. Two months and six days. A whole summer vacation! School starts back up in two weeks! On top of everything we were the ones who had to call and get the updates. We were the ones doing RCA's Customer Relations' job!

I recently contacted RCA in June of 2008 to inform them that television (model # M50WH187YX1 / SERIAL # G292C6041) that I purchased from a Circuit City store no longer would work properly. Upon using the remote, the television would cut off. At times it would just randomly cut itself off. Eventually I had to unplug the television to cut it off and then plug it in and it would power itself on. After about a week or so of this activity, the television just stopped working.
I purchased the television in February, only to have it stop working 5 months later. I called the unhelpful customer service number and spoke with several people with really strong accents. In turn it was very difficult to understand the directions being given to me. I was basically told to fax them the copy of the receipt so they could verify that it's still under warranty, and I did. It took a week and no one contacted me, so I had to contact the customer service department yet again to which I asked for a manager. At that time the manager gave me the phone number to Falcon Electronics in Stow Ohio.
I was highly upset that I -the customer had to solve the problem with my television on my own. Falcon electronics was useless and unprofessional in my opinion. I gave them the model number, serial number, etc...and was told I would receive a phone call back. The Falcon electronics man called me back 2 days later to tell me that my warranty was good and that it was an "in home repair." Which I think he misinterpreted.
So the repair man from Falcon electronics said that it sounded as though I had a bad bulb in the television...so he instructed me to get a screw driver and open the back up and then call the 800 number so they could send me a light bulb. I thanked him for his incompetence and called RCA back and yet again asked for the manager...I spoke with her and informed her of what the man from Falcon Electronics said. She very much disagreed with what I was told - and simply gave me two other repair facilities in my area.
I took the phone numbers and hung up again very frustrated that I still have to do all the leg work to get something repaired that's under warranty, and I fully don't understand what is broken. I called the next company Dale's Electronics in Bath, Ohio and they were helpful. I described my problem and they sent a repair man to my home after verifying my warranty. He came to my home on July 1st however the problem was somehow misdiagnosed and the repairman mentioned he was going to have to have someone pick up the television to take back to their facility to repair. They called and scheduled July 3rd date for pick up and two gentlemen came to get the television.
Today is August 13th and my television still is not completed. They have basically said that the power chord, the bulb and a few other things were wrong with the television and they have had to order a few items to fix the problem. It seems as though the problem was much greater than I initially thought, and I am upset that I was sold a television that basically blew out after 5 months of minimal use
I'm very upset that I was sold an item that was virtually defective. I paid 647.00 for a 50inch HD television and it died after 5 months of use. I'm very frustrated that Circuit City, Akron, Ohio would sell this item. In addition I think it's unacceptable that I've been waiting darn near 2 months for the repair of this television. I have a problem that I paid for a warranty and its been my sole responsibility to handle the repair. RCA has not been helpful and neither has Circuit City. They gave me a phone number to call and thats it. I feel as though they took their money and their not being made to follow through with the execution of the warranty. Every time I call the repair facility, I'm told that the part has been ordered and it takes up to 10 days to get the part. They've had the 50inch television since July 3rd.
Today is August 13th and they still don't seem to know when the repair will be finished. In addition, no one seems to be concerned with the fact that this may be the only television I have in my home. I have house guests that planned in June to visit me in August...however I had no idea that the television repair would take this long. I know have house guests that have been inconvenienced in staying in a home with no television. In addition, I've paid for cable these past 2 months...but do not have a television to watch it on and I did not know this in advance.
The repair facility hasn't given me a forecast as to when I can expect the work to be completed. In addition, I can't even use my DVD player or playstation. I'm limited as to what I can do for entertainment within my own home because I have no television to use. Had the repair facility given me an estimated time, or even circuit city been helpful I would be patient in this matter but in my opinion no one has tried to assist me at all. I would really like my television back.

Contacted Thomson but only phone prompts/no advertised customer service number. Email Thomson Website - gave me an apology and address of RCA Thomson address in Georgia if ever I wanted to write a complaint letter. Will write soon to General Manager/President of RCA Thomson located in Mississauga, ON and will follow suit with filing of formal complaint to Canada Consumer Affairs Bureau. Class lawsuit anyone?
I'm using it for my small apartment living room. Had to use my 14 tube tv for the meantime. Since I'm kinda new in the city and working hard to earn a living, every purchase should be worth my sweat and tears in my job. RCA warranty is a fraud, demolishing the reputation of this once respected brand. I will never buy an RCA product again and doing great effort to spread the word to people I know in order to protect their hard earned money. I purchased a RCA TV, Model 20F424T, on Feb, 2 2008 at Wal-Mart. On July 19, 2008 I turned it off after watching a program. I went to turn it on later it would not turn back on. It just stopped working, the power won't come on. Wal-Mart can't do anything for me because it's after 90 days. I called the toll free number @ RCA; I was told that they would replace the unit for an exchange fee of $74.00. This is half of the original purchase price of $149.96 plus tax.
I did not get resolution via their customer service center or email. They were of no help. I strongly advice everyone - don't buy electronics from Wal-Mart and never, never buy an RCA product.

My three year old RCA televison started to turn itself on and off. It turned on the first time in the middle of the night and the only way to turn it off was to unplug it. The next day we plugged it in and it randomly turned itself on and off, sometimes clicking 6 or more times within a minute. We considered it a fire hazard and unplugged it. I called RCA and they told me it was out of warranty and that I should call the nearest service center. I called and they said it sounded like the control panel was corroded and would cost half the original cost of the televison to fix.
I checked on the computer and found this site and others where people were experiencing the same problem, some going back to 2004 which is before I purchased our televison. I called RCA again and told them that I felt it was a defect in their product and did not feel that I should be made to pay for the repairs.
RCA said that they had received no other complaints about this problem and I would have to have the service center fix the television and pay for the repairs. My television is a RCA 27 inch Truflat. My last television was a Sanyo and had no problems for 16 years. At this time I plan to write to their corperate office and do not intend to buy another RCA product. I don't feel that a televison that breaks within three years is worth putting a hundred dollars into. It will cost me $15.00 to take it to the landfill.

I purchased a RCA 52" projection TV on 8/6/06. On 8/1/06, upon turning on the TV, There was an arch at the top and bottom of the screen looking like an hourglass laying on it side and the 3 colors were all separate giving the appearance of 3 different images in each color. User's Guide troubleshooting says, "The auto convergence feature automatically adjusts the TV's tubes; Red convergence displays the red convergence screen, allowing you to use the aroow buttons to align the red and green images; Blue convergence displays the blue converence screen, allowing youto use the arrow buttons to align the blue and green images."
The Auto Convergence option is located in the setup menu, except that mine has disappeared. When speaking with several customer relations people, I was told that this is not the 1st time this has happened with this TV. I was told that I would need to pay $295.00 for someone to come out, run a diagnostics test and then give me an estimate of parts and labor. I told them that I shouldn't have to pay this charge since I should be able to troubleshoot the problem myself if only the menu had "Auto Convergence" on it. They simply told me too bad.
There was nothing they could do. I was sent to 6 different people that all said they could do nothing for me. I have included a website that shows many frustrated consumers with various serious problems with RCA TV's so I am not alone in this. I don't know if there is a lawsuit pending or not but there should be. I am on disability recently having a double lung transplant in Jan. 2008. My finances don't allow me to spend hundreds of dollars for repairs with no guarantee nor to purchase a new tv every 2 years. I also have a child at home that would like to watch tv.

I own an RCA 61" rear projection TV. The model number is HD61W66. The convergence has gone out. The TV is only 1.5 years old. I paid $1800 for it new. I have contacted RCA tech support via the 1-866 number they give on their website, only to get the same response many on here and all over the internet have received. Each time I call I get a non-English speaking person who is of no help. They are programmed with specific responses, almost like robots. I demanded a number, name, or email of a person in the customer complaint division, but they could only come up with a mailing address for complaints. Why isn't there laws against manufacturers making and selling sub-standard products that barely last long enough for the warranty to expire?
There should be a law that requires them to provide a longer warranty to keep them in check and make them liable to stand behind their product. Maybe then we could start getting better products on the market. Why should a $1800 tv only last less than 2 years. I have a $150 Zenith I bought over 15 years ago that still works in my bedroom! When I search the internet, I find page after page of complaints, but no actions. There have been no petitions, no letters to congressmen, no results, at least that I have found or am aware of! I only find reviews and complaints such as the one I am writing here. What good is a compilation of so many complaints unless actions are taken and results are achieved? What will it take to make a law that would require a company to stand behind a product for at least what could be considered a useful life expectancy?
It goes without saying that I will never own another RCA product, but why should I have to eat $1800 of my hard earned money for a product with such widespread common problems? I thought I would get a product I could enjoy for a long time. Instead, I got a piece of crap that they don't care to support. This is ridiculous. It is on the verge of price gouging. I demand something be done! Oh wait, numerous other people have already demanded something to no avail! I guess we are just sheep and have no defense against the wolves of the manufacturing business. If this site is for the purpose of getting results, then please, email me with a contact number of someone that can help. I don't care if it has to be the President himself. I am tired of wasting money and efforts just to 'voice my opinion'. To hell with an opinion. Let's see some results!
I am out the $1800 for a product that didn't last, plus another $500 for a repair, plus the gas to take it over 60 miles to the nearest authorized service center ($4.00/gal @ 16 mpg x 120 miles X 2 trips = $60). Not to mention the fact that I am still paying for satelite service($60/month X 2 months and counting) that I can't watch without the TV. My time writing this complaint and being on the phone with people that are of no help equates to another ~$40/hour(my salary at work), which I have already invested at least 5 hours in doing. That puts me already at $2680 towards this problem. How much more math do I need to do to get a result? Better yet, how much more money should I have to invest? Another $2000 - $3000 for a replacement TV? Please help!

I purchased a RCA TV, Model 20F424T, on March 8, 2008 at Walmart. On July 25, 2008 it started turning on and off by itself. Walmart can't do anything because it's been longer than 90 days. However, I must mention that the manager is trying to get this policy waived for me. I called the toll free number to RCA and explained that this TV was for a bedroom and gets MAYBE 7 hours of use per week. I was told that they would repair or replace it for $73.85. That's nearly half of the original purchase price of $149.96 plus tax.
This TV, as well as ANY TV should last longer than 4 1/2 months. RCA needs to be accountable for their poor products and should be ashamed for the way they treat unsuspecting customers who bought their products in good faith. I certainly wish I would have researched consumers reports before purchasing this TV from RCA!
I had to travel 50 miles round trip to return the TV to Walmart. I left it there as they said they would ship it as soon as they heard where they were supposed to ship it to. Jeff from RCA wasn't able to tell me where to ship it. They would call in 24-48 hours he said. If and when the TV is repaired or replaced (I'm increasingly skeptical after reading the comments on this site and others)I will need to make another trip to the Walmart. 3 months later while watching the TV with nice weather outside and no power outages, the picture and sound was gone. The power was still on as the blue lights on the front where on. Tried to power the TV off and it wouldn't turn off. I had to unplug it from the wall. I plugged it back in and the lights on the front blinked 5 times. The owners manual said it refers to the blub having burnt out that I just replace 3 months earlier.
I sent the bulb back where I purchased it from and they tested it and it worked fine, which from what I can tell it does look just fine. Took the TV in to see what the problem is for $35.00 and the TV repair place said it was the light engine assembly and that it would cost $875 to fix. I paid $1500 for this TV and it truly SUCKS! We purchased a 24 RCA television for my daughter to used at college. We purchased it less than a year ago and it has started turning on and off by itself. We have talked to at least three people at RCA. When my daughter called the first time she was told that we would have to pay $85 to have it fixed. When she complained that it wasn't even a year old the woman she talked to put her on hold and then came back on and said that they would send her a label to pay for the shipping to send the broken one in. If she gave a credit card number they would then send her a new one at no charge.
We had to fax in our receipt and write Secured Option on the fax in order to have this happen. We did this and never heard back from anyone. So we called back again and were told that that was not an option. After talking to two more people and getting the same information, we decided to call a local repairman. He told us that ever since China took over the RCA name, there have been problems with their products. He said that the part would be about $200 to replace.
We only paid $175 for the TV! And what guarantee is there that the same thing won't happen again. I will never buy an RCA product again and I will never go to Walmart for such an item either. Also, a person in the TV department at Walmart told us that the 1 year warrant from RCA should have taken care of the TV.
We will now have to put out more money to buy another television.

well i first got a clerk i guess named Courtney, who started asking a bunch of questions for the tv, such as serial and model number. i told her several times that it was for a dlp bulb replacement and after 20 mins(on cell phone) she says we dont handle that, only tvs, so she told me to call the parts dept. at 1-800-, could not transfer, so i called and went to the pool as expected, then finally another clerk is guess named David answered and i tried to explin to him the prob and after 15 mins with him he says they dont handle warranties only parts, which itried to explain was a replacement part. so he says no, and tell me to call back to warrnty dept.could not transfer again.
called warrant dept and back in pool, finallt got another clerk named Sandra and i treid to explain to her and she says no have to call back tp parts dept, tols her no iwas tired of this and wanted a suprevisor, after another 5 or mins or so on hold got a supervisor named Brent M. ID#l63l63134, who came to the phone and tells me he cannot help me cause they dont do warranties either, so i sadi again who does and he parts, that i wouls have to call back to parts. i finally asked him to help me and pleaded for help that i had been sent back and forth between depts now going on an hour or more. i asked him to call a suprevisor in the parts dept for me and tell him what was going on and to try and help me, he refused and kept saying not his problem or his dept.
finally after almost begging this surpervisor to help mem he refused and tols me to call the parts dept and demand to talk to supervisor. so almost in tears and begging for help, i caleed the parts dept again and David again who refused to let me speak to a supervisor, said that he could not hel;p me. i demanded to speak to suprvisor and he put me on hold, finally after another 5 or 10 mins realized even thou they cnat transfer calls, this David had put me on hold and transfered me back to warranty dept. once i realized this i called back to parts dept and Robin answered and i told her waht was going on and she said the suprvisor could not help.
fianally after demanding and pleading again and about to have a heart attack from all the stress as she could tell put another supervisor on the line his name was robert robi, who refused to give me his boss or anybody that i could talk to and would not give me his ID#, refused to let me talk to his boss or give me away to talk to someone above him and i am actually so ******off and in such stress thatwhen i fianlly goy off the phone i had to take medication and go to bed, i think i was on the verge of a heart attack. ant how Robert robin still refused to help. told me to call warranty dept again and i refused. finally talked to Erin who said he was trying to send an email to Thomsom consumer parts to see if they would help me. got an email form thomsom saying i have no warranty for a year.this is incorrect, orderd bulb over internet last year and have have paper to fill uot for dlp television lamp replacement process, which says to fill in info and to call warranty dept. well its not the matter of the warranty any more.
i spent over 2 hours on a cell phone and these 5 to 6 people have put me thru pure hell and back again. this is uncalled for and something needs to be down about this immediately. i know you big companies think you can treat us little people like this but i will not let this rest. i want something done about this. i am thinking about going to the trouble to hire an attorney. i t would be worth all i own to get something done about this.
this is sick, uncalled for, riduculious and just down right dirty way to treat a consumer in usa. you will probaly just through this in the trash but i have names numbers times and copies of everyting. this is un called for. what if i had actually had a heart attack. you send this to someone who actually cares and just see what they would have done. i work for AT&T, if had done something like this to a customer, the company would have been sued.

Called their 1-800 number. Was told a rep. would call back in 24-48hrs. 3 days later after i called again. The said it was off warranty and they would replace it if i paid $189.00 plus the shipping back to their warehouse.I think i have paid enough for this product already and it seems this is a problem with this TV.
I will have to purchase another Tv and not an RCA, because it seems they have not fixed their problem

We purchased this TV 7 mo. ago from Wal-Mart and it lost signal. We went thru all the steps with the RCA "CUSTOMER SUPPORT" and it needed to go to a shop to be fixed. Well there is no authorized repair shop in Fairbanks Alaska so it was taken to a long time local repair center. It ended up being a bad board and when I called RCA they told me that the TV will no longer have a warranty because it was taken to a non RCA repair shop. I explained that there isn't one in the area I was told TUFF....its your problem

When tried turning back on, all I get a red screen for about 2 seconds and then it turns itself off again. I called RCA, they told me if I had my receipt I could return it for a replacement. I found my receipt, they were supposed to call me within 2 days to get this process started, they never did.
I called them back a week later to find out what I need to do. I was given a fax number to fax my receipt to for verification, the fax number they gave me was incorrect, so I had to call back again. I faxed the receipt and just today received a call back telling me my receipt was out of warranty, through no fault of mine, because I had to [take] over a week to get any answers. Now I was told since its out of warranty, I will have to pay $90 for labor, plus shipping to get this TV fixed. I didnt pay that much for the TV to begin with!
I dont think this is very good customer service, considering the TV was only a few days out of warranty when I called to begin with. All the times I called these people I had to speak with a foreign person to whom I could barely understand and had to ask several times to repeat the answer. I was told from the beginning I would get a new replacement TV and now I got nothing! I will never again purchase anything that has an RCA Thompson name on it.

Each week they tell me that it will be next week when the backorder tv's come in. RCA doesn't care about quality or the customer. For the trouble I'm going through all they offered me was an extended warranty. LOL It seems like I will need a warranty for as long as I own the TV. Someone help me find out how I can get my money back or a better TV from RCA if they make one.
I had to pay 2 months of DirecTV service that I have no TV to watch. Also can't play my video games, DVD player, or stereo receiver because they were all professionally installed in the wall. I bought an RCA television, Model #27F524T, in November of 2007. The power supply module that turns the set on/off went out in April of 2008. I had bought an extended service plan from K-Mart from whom I purchased the TV.
I called the extended warranty information and was referred to a local repair shop, who sent a tech out to look at the set. He determined that he needed to order parts from RCA, which would take about 2 weeks to receive. When the parts arrived, the tech called and set up a time to install them...and they didn't work! He then took the power module and wiring harness so he could send it back to RCA to be repaired by them...and said it would be a couple of weeks for him to get it back.
The harness was returned and he came to install it yesterday. It wouldn't work...the TV would come on , but shut down within 3 seconds of it coming on! He called RCA directly...and spoke to repair people there, for over 45 minutes, in an effort to get it working, but...he ended up taking the TV back to the shop to try and repair it again!I was upset and called RCA and spent several minutes talking with someone in the Phillipines in their "customer service" department. They are more than happy to recommend me to another authorized repair service center for assistance (the TV is already at an authorized repair service center).
Let's see...if one authorized service center can't get it fixed, what would lead me to believe another authorized service center would have any better luck than the first???
So...I've had this TV for 7 months and been unable to use it for 2 months.Needless to say, I will never, ever, ever buy another RCA product...not even so much as an AM/FM alarm clock.

When I called RCA customer hotline they tell me they can send me to a repair shop at my exspense. And was very very smart about it. Infuriated I continued to dig online especially after I find out it is gonna cost 500 to fix a 1000 dollar tv. I find number for their corporate office.
After the first time I called the lady asked where I was calling from and what I needed so I told her. She gave me a number to call and said my tv would be replaced! I wold in return need to give mine to them so they could figure out whta had happened. The number was disconnected and the lady never answered again.
So, I started calling randoms employees in their directory trying to reach someone anyone who would help! My tv was manufactured July 2006 it should not have gone out already! An made in Mexico. The companys 1800 hotline kept telling me I am wrong! It was made in Chine and manufactured in 2003. So, I asked was it a refurbished tv sold as new? Was I conned? They hung up on me. Several times this happens.
So, finally I started calling the corporate office again some guy whom didn't want to give me his name told me to call a gentlemen named Tom. This man presumed he woudl help. Told me to call him back the following Tuesday. ha! He woudln't answer until a week later after I called him private caller and he said well there is nothing I can do.
I then started over again I then was told to call a Nadra whom will not return calls. So, my last resort. I mailed 8 letters to various departments in their company. I am writing this and filing a complaint with the attorney generals office. If you google that model number there is tons of people with the exact same problem. These people shrugged me off and ask how did you get this number. Persistence! And being ******! My 4, 6 and 8 year old son lost their tv because RCA is taking quanity over quality!

I have yet to recieve the new part and have been told by their parts department that they do not have any have no idea when they will be getting more.
They offered that I get a replacement from the nearest service center and gave me only 2 possible locations for my area. Upon checking with them, I was told they do not carry the bulbs and could not offer any solution. I again checked with customer service and they were unable to provide any other options aside from waiting for an indefinite period of time until they could get another lamp. Judging by the complaints I've read, this isn't an uncommon occurrence.
I am now stuck with a basically brand new television that doesn't work with no foreseeable fix in the near future and I'm out $1000.00. Within 15 months of purchasing each one, my picture went out on both TV's. I did some trouble shooting and believe the problem is with the bulb. I called to find out about ordering a bulb only to find out that the cost is $200.00 per bulb plus shipping and tax. That is an outrageous price to have to pay every 14-15 months to replace. The bulb is replacement is supposed to customer friendly and pretty simple to replace. I thought I would replace it myself. Not at that cost. I am very disappointed with this product and the company for the way their customer service dept. handled things. I had to call back after they would transfer me to each dept., and then they would tell me they had no information after giving them the information on both products 4 times. They still have not helped me with anything to date.
I think they need to recall these bulbs as I have seen several complaints on the same product for the same thing. I have two of the same, and how ironic they both have the same problem--and how odd that they both went out within the same amount of time frame for the running of the product, which was not often. The TV's were on usually only in the evening hours for approx. 4-5 hrs. during winter months. This product is a big disappointment, and I may have to buy another TV. For with the price of two bulbs ($400.00 plus tax and shipping), I could buy another TV product from another company. I never had RCA TV's before, and I do not think I will ever purchase another one. This is not cost effective to us consumers who purchased this junk. I would think RCA would better back their product strictly because of the name they have behind them. Guess not!
The consequences to me are that I have to either come up with $400.00+ every 14-15 months to replace a lousy bulb or buy another television.

This is the main TV in our home (46 TV). We have had to continue to pay on a cable TV contract that we are not using. We have also been inconvenienced in that we have had to make alternate plans for certain TV events that cost us more money.
