We bought an RCA 46-inch LCD TV in Jan 2012. In March, there began to be small lines, vertical, and by April, half the screen is blacked out! We misplaced the receipt during our move as we never thought this would happen. I will never misplace a receipt again and I will never ever buy RCA. What a piece of stuff this TV is. Do not buy RCA. I will also check for complaints before I spend this kind of money again.

We bought a 46" RCA LCD TV in Nov 2011. In April 2012, a dark line appeared on the right half of the TV. We called RCA's number in the owner's guide and spoke to Lynette. She told us that a box would be arriving at our house with instructions to return the TV in 7-10 days. Three weeks later and many unanswered messages for RCA, the box arrived. They told us that when they had verification that the TV was picked up by UPS, they would send out a new one. We were to call them and let them know when the TV was picked up and they would tell us when the new TV would be sent out. Now, no one answers the phones. My husband has left numerous messages in every departments' voicemail (including accounting). No one will call back. We have no idea if we are even going to get a TV in return.

My husband called the repair company that RCA sent to our house and they were extremely rude when all we wanted was to get a phone number to a phone that would be answered. They would not allow us to speak to a manager. They told us there were no managers in the room. They hung up on him twice as well. We can't make a complaint to RCA because no one will call us back. There are dozens of comments online about RCA and this same problem. They have the same complaint as we do. How do we get our TV back or get back the $400+ we spent?

Re: Defective TV (Model 46LA45RQ) - I bought TV from Best Buy 03/05/12. After 2 months, a vertical line appears on the screen about 2 inches wide. Then it moved to the right side and became worst occupying 1/4 of the screen. Per RCA technician, defective, and said that RCA will contact me in 14 days to send a replacement. Nobody called. I left a message that I don't want a replacement but a full refund. None at On Corp picked-up calls.

I posted a review at Best Buy web and a lady left me a message with e-mail address ** (why personal e-mail?). She said I would get my refund but I need to e-mail her my receipt. She said the TV must be in-transit before the 18th to get a refund in July. I emailed her my receipt and asked if I'll get a new box and call tag to ship the item back. My wife Juliet e-mailed her thrice but still no response. It's a total pain having to undergo through this difficulty. On Corp is not fair to their consumers. I need my refund by 4th of July to buy a different brand.

I bought an RCA 46-inch LCD TV at Best Buy in December 2011. Five months later, the picture quality is a problem. They sent a serviceman out and he said an LCD panel is defective. Now, the company is not picking up the phone and not honoring their warranty. You go try and find a corporate address for RCA Television in the United States. Actually, the TV is made by On Corp., a S. Korean company. I can't find an address for them either. All in all, it's a very shady corporate presence for RCA nowadays. This is a complete fiasco.

We purchased an RCA TV at Best Buy on 2/10/12. In May, we experienced problems with the picture. We called RCA, who sent out a technician who determined the main frame was going out. The tech contacted RCA, who agreed to send us a box to return the TV, and they would send us a new one. We received the box and then called RCA as instructed. We left several messages that were never returned. We then googled ‘RCA TV complaints’, only to find on several websites hundreds of similar complaints with RCA/ON Corp. We also called the technician, who told us they have had other customers with the same problem.

The technician offered to call them on our behalf, which was to no avail. With a few copies of similar complaints in hand, we were off to Best Buy. Best Buy took our RCA TV back, gave us our money back and a 10% discount on the purchase of a new TV! They also tried to contact RCA/ON Corp with the same results as us. The manager told us Best Buy Corp. might be interested in our experience with RCA/ON Corp in light of all the complaints from other customers. We also filed a complaint with our state's consumer protection agency. Interestingly, RCA/ON Corp called us this morning! We didn't have anything nice to say to them.

I will never buy an RCA 47 inch TV again. When we called, the guy was nice and said, "Oh, we know the problem of the TV and we can send you a replacement once we send a guy out there to check what's wrong." They said that their TV's were from a third party company that builds them and a bad skid of TV's went out unsupervised. Really? That's not why I'm complaining. The third party makers are now sending the TV but taking their good old time doing so! I think if they were going to rely on a third party company, they should send an inspector over there for inspection. No customer should wait this long even if customer service isn't number one on the list.

RCA doesn't have the clout it once enjoyed. Four years ago, I bought an RCA TV and I have a Sanyo much older by 8 years still kicking and the RCA model, although perfect for the top of my chest of drawers, has begun to turn itself off and on of its own accord. That is the last RCA anything I'm ever going to purchase again. I checked the batteries of the remote, the DVD/CD player, unplugged the unit, plugged it back in, and all I can say is I'm totally disgusted.

Two weeks later, I got a call from customer service saying that I need to return my television in order to receive a new model that wouldn't have the same problems. The TV was scheduled to be picked up by FedEx the following day (May 5, 2012). My TV was picked up by FedEx on May 5, 2012. On May 25, 2012, an empty television box was delivered to my house. I have been trying for almost a week to get in contact with customer service to have this issue resolved and I have had zero luck in speaking to a live person. I am beyond frustrated at this point. I had a faulty TV and now I've gone without a TV for close to a month with only more grief in receiving an empty packaging box after I was advised to send my TV in the original packaging (which I did).

I purchased a 42" RCA TV on 4-18-11. On 5-24-12 (six days out of warranty), the picture went black, but still had sound. I contacted RCA. They told me, "Sorry," but gave me a number to call because it sounded like a main board problem (which would cost around $200) that OnCorp was having with model 42LA45RQ. They told me to check for a recall. After I called and explained my problem, the tech told me he was also sorry (I think he even giggled) but he would be happy to send a tech out (for a $100 service call) to replace the main board. I don't think so. He told me, "If there is anything else we can help you with, we want to keep you happy." What would make me happy is that OnCorp who made the TV try and work a little with their customers.

After only owning this television (46" LCD Full HDTV) for two months, I got vertical lines covering the left half of the screen. I called for repair. After waiting two weeks, a service person finally came out. He took one look at it and said it needed to be replaced. He also told me that this is happening with almost all of these televisions. I finally received a phone call back to tell me that FedEx would be out to pick up the broken television.

It has now been four weeks and I still do not have my replacement television. I cannot get anyone to call me back. I have left over 50 messages. I can't get a human being on the phone. I also purchased the extended warranty through Best Buy which is totally useless now since I no longer have the television. If I had known this was going to happen, I would have waited a year and taken it back to Best Buy for a replacement. Best Buy was absolutely no help and will never purchase anything from them either. What happened to the reputation the RCA had? No customer service at all. I’m looking into getting an attorney. $600.00 and I don't even have the broken TV and the FedEx label has nothing on it but a tag number. No address, nothing.

Within 6 months of purchasing a new RCA TV, it developed vertical lines in the screen. I called RCA for troubleshooting and they sent out a technician. The technician came on 4/11/12 and he determined it could not be repaired, but needed to be replaced. He also stated this was a known issue with my model (46LA45RQ) and that they were having to be replaced nationwide. I have been trying since to get a replacement and as of today, I still have the non-working TV. A rep called within a week to confirm my address. Any and all follow-up calls I have made since have been ignored. You cannot reach anyone directly, only leave messages and no one ever returns calls. The customer service number is 877-506-3411 and the rep supposedly assisting me is named Courtney and her extension is **.

I have tried both over 50 times and left over 20 messages. Yesterday, I finally received a box to return the defective TV in, but it had no return authorization number, no return shipping label and FedEx was not able to pick it up due to this. Of course, all calls I have made today have not been returned. This is the worst customer service possible. There should be a way to reach someone at this company and it is wrong that it is more than 5 weeks and I am still no closer to getting a replacement. I am at a loss as what to do. I also called RCA at the phone number online at 877-506-3411, which asks for a model number. When I enter it, it says it is not recognized and hangs up. Also, I called OnCorp (company that owns RCA, apparently) at the number provided online 858-546-4445 and at this number, there is only a busy signal. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I bought our 46-in TV from Best Buy on January 6, 2012. At 91 days, the right 1/4 of the screen went out. It's under warranty, and after many phone calls, the tech came out today, took one look at it, and said, "There's nothing i can do. RCA will contact you to replace it." I called (after having to look up the numbers myself) and had to leave a voice mail for someone to call me back. I was told by Best Buy that it will take 5 to 8 days to have someone contact me back.

I am disabled, and my TV is pretty much my lifeline. Now? My TV is unwatchable. Best Buy won't budge, and RCA won't call me back in a normal amount of time. I don't even know if it's RCA I contacted, as the voice mail doesn't say a name. RCA didn't even manufacture this TV; it's manufactured by someone called Encore. False advertising?

RCA model 32V420T, code CA847. Sometimes, the TV set will not start or it will start and a few minutes later, will shut off by itself. If I keep turning it on again and again, about an hour later, it will stay on. The warranty of one year expired and one month later, this happened. I paid a technician to fix it for me and it worked fine for a couple of years. Now, it happened again. In my family, we always bought RCA TV sets because they used to be of real good quality. I still have my old 20" that I bought on 89 and it has never failed. It has been the most used TV set in my house and still is.

But like they say, quality is not even close of what it used to be. In the good old days, companies build products to last and they had pride on their products. Now everything is disposable and quality went down the drain. I will never buy an RCA product again, it's no good anymore. TV sets over here are expensive because of import taxes etc. The prices over here are about 200% of the price in the US and minimum wage here is US 9.06 dollars per day of work (8 hours). So it's about a dollar and change an hour. Go figure how much work it takes to buy a TV set.

I purchased the RT2770 surround sound system just before Christmas after doing extensive research to ensure that this was the surround system unit that I was looking for (my requirements were 1000 watts of power, optical inputs, and 8 ohms impedance). I took the system home and set it up. I didn’t really have time to listen to it until a week ago. I noticed that the speaker volumes were a bit low so I decided to investigate. As it turns out, the consol itself stated that the outputs on the speakers were 4 and 3 ohm, not 8 ohm as advertised on the RCA website (RCA in no way identifies this as a 3 and 4 ohm system, even customer service said it was an 8 ohm system).

When I tried to contact customer service to try and return the product, the website directed me to Audiovox customer service as Audiovox had purchased the RCA label. Audiovox directed me to 1800 Customer Service because they had sold the home audio division to a separate company. 1800 Customer Service was a contracted service that only handled technical support and warranty work. When I finally got in contact with the actual company, they were rude, aggressive, and would not tell me who I was talking to (person’s name or company name). And they would not tell me the name of the company they wanted me to contact about my complaint. They hung up after about 1 minute of conversation. I definitely did not say anything rude, badger them, or do anything that would warrant this type of action.

I have called countless numbers and sent a few emails with no valid response. I can honestly say that I felt this company has no intention of correcting its mistake or fixing the problem. I need help determining what company owns RCA and how I should go about fixing this problem. Basically someone revised the manufacturing specs on this equipment and did not update the advertising info. As a result, I am out roughly $400 on a sound system that is half of its intended power (1000 X (4/8) = 500watts).

I purchased an RCA 50 inch TV almost 3 years ago. Soon as the warranty ran out, so did the TV. I went to the shop for 5 months and bulb was on back order. I got the TV back and had it for 2 months, same problem. I went back into the shop for another 3 months. I got the TV back, had it for 3 months, and the picture went out again. This time, it was a switch.

I went back into the shop for another 2 months. It worked this time for 6 months, and picture flashes on and off again. It's the switch again! This TV has been in the repair shop more than in my house. I spent $900 on the TV and almost $500 on repairs. I would have bought another TV if I knew it was going to cost this much.

I bought a brand new 42" TV off the shelf. It was suggested by the salesperson that I purchase a maintenance agreement. I did. The TV had picture problems. Sears sent out a repairperson. He said that the problem is a known issue with computer boards in this brand of TV (RCA). He called the issue in and was told I was to get a new TV as the problem is not repairable. He told me to call if I didn't hear back from Sears in 10 days. I called and was transferred to the warranty department. They told me that I would have to pay an additional $143 dollars on top of the MA I had purchased in order to get the TV replaced.

I purchased a RCA portable DVD player on the 9th of August, 2011 for my toddler daughter's birthday and it has indeed been a nightmare. The DVD no longer shows a picture and it is 16 days after my purchase date. Therefore, I have to go through RCA for another DVD player because after 15 days after purchase, Wal-Mart no longer does the exchange. Now here is my big problem: I called RCA and got one of the rudest customer service reps ever. She kept getting sassy at the mouth because I needed to know who pays for the shipping, what needs to be included in the packing, etc. Well she acted as if she's tired and irritated. So, I asked for her name and she hung the phone up in my face after I told her she was a very rude rep.

Well I shipped the DVD player on 09/20/11 and they received it on 09/23/11. I called on 09/27/11 to find out the status of the DVD player and I came across this same rude rep. I asked for the status and she said no one has touched it yet. I said you have had the DVD player over a week, that I paid the shipping for, even though your product broke down on me and no one has touched it yet. She said, no and I don't know when someone will touch it (in a sassy tone once again). I told her once again that she was the same operator that I had on a previous occasion and I found her to be rude and I didn't like it or appreciate it. I asked for her name again and she hung up the phone again! I have called back now and as usual you hold for well over 20 minutes. I want to speak with a manager or someone with some customer service values and integrity. This has been a very bad experience for me with this DVD player from RCA and I know that I will never ever purchase anything else from RCA.

They told me to unplug the TV for thirty minutes then plug it back. It would come on for a couple of days but then when turning it on, the led light would flash three times and go off. I left it unplugged for a couple of days and still the led light would flash three times then go off. I paid over $3,000.00 for this TV and it only last for five years. I bought it in 2005. This TV should have last a lot longer then that.

I have bought several RCA TVs in the past and they last many years. I can't even get the TV fixed; the part is not available any longer nor can they get the part anywhere. I was told that the PC board is defective by a TV repairman.

RCA does not stand behind their products and intentionally mislead consumers with a faulty warranty that has additional cost built-in. I purchased an RCA 52" HDTV model R52WH74 from Walmart 3 years ago after much scrimping and saving. The TV worked great for the past 3 years. It didn’t have problem until about a month ago when the screen went black and there were color bars on it. We get 3 green blinks on power button and nothing. RCA doesn't seem to care after speaking with rep. Naturally, the TV is no longer under warranty. To have it repaired, it would cost at the least $400 as we were told it's the power board. I don't have the extra $400 to shell out.

I feel with so many consumers going through this same thing. RCA should offer refunds or at least replacement TVs. We are hard working Americans not looking for handouts and fed up with getting dealt the "[bad] end of the stick" when it comes to our rights as consumers. This TV set me back $1100 and lasted 3 years. Now I have no TV set and don't know when I'll have enough to buy a replacement.

It worked fine for about 60 days then it started acting up, the picture came and went. Now the only thing that works is the DVD sound. There's no picture of any kind, the remote will only operate the volume, mute and stop on the DVD. I am telling everyone I know and also people I don't know to not buy an RCA product of any kind. They will not stand behind the items they sell at Walmart and RCA only wants you to spend more money to fix their problems. This TV is still under warranty, but they want the customer to pay for shipping to and from their facility. This was their piece of ** to begin with, and I'm sick of the runaround!

It still had a warranty, but we had to pay for shipping/handling and it was a pain. Then after about another 6 months, the picture went out again. We paid for that out of pocket.

Now here we are a few months later, with a billion little white dots popping up on the screen. I just can't believe how much trouble and money we have had to go through with this TV after paying over $1,000 for it. I believe that after paying so much money for something, it should have good quality and this has not. It has put us out money and entertainment. The unit worked okay but it had a buzz, the TV had always had a buzz so this quiet new noise seemed tolerable. The buzz got so bad after a month that we called Demers and was told they only cover the part for 30 days (the repairman stated it was one year). RCA stated they did have a color wheel with housing but can only be sent to a dealer. Our dealer (Bob) stated that the wheel was not covered for a year and the $400 in labor was going to be charged.

The repair man stated that if the TV went bad under warranty and it was on file, it did not matter that it was past warranty. Demers did not agree with their employee and we must pay for our warranted free part ($400 labor). After countless calls to RCA, our TV was a 2000 dollar eyesore and we have not given up. I purchased a 42 inch LCD RCA TV from Walmart in Oct. and bought the extended warranty. The picture died about a month ago. We called customer service and had to have it sent up to the next level. The next level said they would send out a part and then have someone come to install it. The part arrived almost three weeks later. When we called Ohio again, they then discovered that they have no repair people in Newfoundland so they would need to send out a new TV but first a supervisor would call us in 24 - 48 hours. That was on the 23rd.

Today, April 27, 2010, I called the department that had promised the supervisor call. After waiting 25 minutes for my call to be answered, I was told that a mistake had been made and I would need to call customer relations. If that department is an example of how RCA values its customers, someone needs to seriously rethink their strategy. The first lady was fine. She explained the exchange process, confirmed there was a TV available in the Ontario plant and made arrangements but my husband didn't like the vague turn around time. This evening he called and was told it would take 30 more days to get a new TV. He asked about a refund and was told we would first have to return the old set and then they would start the process to issue a check. This process would also take about 30 days.

When he complained about the level of customer service, the rep hung up on him. He called back and spoke to a lady named Yolanda who identified herself as a manager. It took two conversations with Yolanda to get anywhere and when we did get somewhere, it was even worse than before. We had purchased extended warranty and when we asked about that she became defensive and argumentative. When we tried to ask other questions about the exchange or refund process, she kept raising her voice and going back to the warranty issue. We'd already accepted her answer on that; it's not RCA's problem, it's Walmart's.

Because we expressed our disgust with her behavior and lack of customer service, she proceeded to say that we would now have to wait at least six weeks after the TV is returned before they will issue a check and, like the lady she supposedly was managing, she hung up. How can a company that makes should a shoddy product and then follows it up with the rudest, most inefficient "customer service" I have ever experienced be allowed to stay in business?

From now on, I will buy from a local retailer who stands behind the product they sell and avoid dealing with businesses like RCA at all costs. I guess I'd really hurt Yolanda's feelings if I had dared mention the high HD TV fee I've been paying for the past month without being able to access a picture on my RCA TV. In most businesses, customer relations departments are about making this kind of experience as painless as possible for the consumer, not the company. Yolanda must have trained at a collection agency and still acts like that's where she works, instead of being the manager of a customer relations department. This is $700 for the TV, $200 for a warranty which won't be used but can't be refunded, and $40 for two months worth of HD cable without an HD TV. Bottom line, the money is important but the complete lack of respect or fair treatment made this a horrible experience.

It will cost me $50.00 to have it shipped back to RCA and $130.00 labor to see if they can fix it; then the parts are covered if they determine I am not at fault for it not working. I took it to the local licensed repair shop listed on their website and was told that if they fix it the warranty is not any good. They said the power module is out after only 5 months. I can't afford to send it to RCA and risk them not fixing it and being out all that money, so now I will have to pay the local shop to fix it and pay for the parts. Why have a warranty if it doesn't cover the TV? I also will never buy another RCA product at Wal-Mart or anywhere else.

I purchased an RCA (model # 32V434T) from Wal-Mart, less than 4 years ago. Two days ago, the TV just stopped working. I have unplugged it, and tried different plugs. I called RCA, and they were of no help, since my 1 year warranty is up. I have since researched and found that, RCA sends their reject televisions to Wal-Mart for about $100 a set. This is the scam of all scams! Buyers, beware. I personally will never buy RCA products again, nor will I spend my hard earned money at Wal-Mart. Someone really needs to get a class action suit going. I will be more than happy to help. This TV cost me more than $700, and did not last 5 years. It was horrible!

I also purchased a RCA 32" LCD HDTV flat panel TV from Wal-Mart 12/2008 and was very happy with the product at first. The left speaker had a rattle that was only got worse with time and then the sound just goes out and you have to change channels to get it back and there is a clicking sound and the volume goes up by itself. I purchased an extended 2-year warranty to protect my 500.00 investment and was not told of Wal-Mart's 90 day only warranty. I only had this TV for 13 months.

Now they want to ship my TV to New York which will take 2 weeks (maybe) to fix it and I only have 1 TV since the government decided to go Digital, so my question is to RCA when you turned to China to make your product you traded your dignity and our trust in doing so. Shame on you to not stand behind your product and leave your loyal consumers out in the cold for the money. What goes around comes around and I will never buy RCA again. Shame on Wal-Mart also and I do not have to shop there. I hope the BBB and those of power to punish for these injustices, do so legally. Notify me if I may help.

We purchased a 52" RCA HDTV from Wal-Mart in 2005. About a year ago, the TV just stopped working. While we were watching TV, it just shut off and the power light just kept blinking. I could hear a "click-click" sound like the TV was trying to power back on, but nothing. We moved the TV in to the garage and a few months later, we just tried to turn it on to see what would happen. It worked! So, we moved back in to the living room and we had our TV back for a few days! After about four days, it shut down and did the same thing! I am at a loss as to what to do! I have called a few TV repair shops and am thinking about getting it fixed because it may be cheaper than buying a new TV.

I think RCA needs to acknowledge all of the complaints made about their products and do something about it! We all bought these TVs with the intention they would last longer than a few years. Maybe something happened while they were all in production and all TVs need to be recalled or something. But it is unethical and irresponsible to tell customers there is nothing that can be done because someone somewhere can surely do something and correct all the issues with these TVs!

I kept the TV in its box for 3 months until my new home was completed, then started using it. After 50 days of use the picture went out! I called RCA and since it was past the 90-day parts and labor warranty, they told me I'd have to pay to have it serviced, which would cost about $250. I scrapped the TV and will never ever buy another RCA product again! I spent hard earned money on a TV that lasted me less than two months of use!

Purchased RCA 32" LCD HDTV Dec. 27, 2008. Feb. 17, 2010, vertical lines similar to bar code appeared on screen and fade in and out. Warranty on TV has expired. Contacted RCA Customer Service and was given a fax number to fax in my proof of purchase and was given a different phone to call within 3-4 hours after faxing. Did so (each time waiting for about 30 minutes on hold) and was told hadn't received my proof of purchase and nothing they could do until it was entered into the warranty database.

Called 3 separate occasions and each time was told that the problem was the digital board or panel board. There is no service repair shop in my area. I would have to find one myself and repair shop would have to sent a purchase order for part required if the TV is repairable at my cost. If TV not repairable, I was offered an out-of- warranty exchange at a cost of $199.99 plus taxes US. So, even if TV is still under warranty, it is quite a hassle to get satisfaction.

The store where I bought the TV is looking into this problem but could not make any promises. That is the only positive response I've had. The only conclusion I have reached is that the company Thomson Consumer Technology are manufacturing inferior products (they also make GE appliances). Also, you cannot find a number to call and speak with anyone with authority in this company.

I could go on and on, but what's the use. I guess if it appears they are operating within (barely) consumers such as ourselves don't have leg to stand on. I will never purchase another RCA product of any kind and will tell this to anyone who will listen. Please do not purchase RCA products. This incident has caused a great amount of stress to both myself and my husband. We thought we were buying a reputable product as RCA used to be a very good company.

We are both retired and cannot afford to purchase another TV. One would expect a TV to last more than a year. I am so angry about this but just don't know where to turn. My problem is very similar to most on here, however I did not buy the TV as Wal-Mart.

I would like to know how these TV's received CSA and FCC approval. After reading all the complaints here, I have realized that writing on here only allows us a place to vent. If there was a consumer watchdog out there this should have been picked up and something done by now. The consumer program "Marketplace" on CBC in Canada might be a good place for Canadians to start looking for redress. They do consumer investigative journalism and it would be one way to have this problem with RCA go public.

I have looked at almost everyone of the complaints on here and they almost all have one thing in common. Looks like most of the defective TV's were bought at Wal-Mart and they will not help us get taken care of. I personally, have stopped doing business with Wal-Mart because of their lack on caring. You can't tell me that Wal-Mart doesn't know what is happening! My repair shop have told me Wal-Mart pays like $100.00 for the 32" TV's.

I would like to suggest that if you are unable to get a solution either through RCA or Wal-Mart then if you pay using a Wal-Mart credit card just don't pay the amount for the TV including sales tax. Yes this will cause a dent in your credit but fight that with the credit reporting folks if you like. Just cut up your Wal-Mart credit card and when you get it paid down to the amount of the TV, stop paying the bill.

Wal-Mart is still selling these defective products and they don't care about the customers. So hit Wal-Mart in the pocketbook and see if they change their ways, they probably won't but it's worth a try. Also, for everyone who's reading, find the number for the producer of 20/20 and see if they will run a story and help us out. Since most of us have a lot of free time because we no longer have a TV to watch, let's start calling lawyers and see if anyone can file a class action suite against RCA & Wal-Mart. Wish Us Luck!

After many phone calls to TTE, long holding on the phone (30+ minutes at a time), they finally agreed to send me a new 32" TV after I packed and shipped mine to them (out of warranty price $198.95). It costs me $50+ packing and shipping by UPS. The TV cost $714 originally so far. I have spent over $900. Last week, another TV arrived. I set it up, only to find there is a ripple effect down the middle of the picture. I called TTE/RCA again and they admitted they replace TV's rather than fixing them as there are no spare parts in the USA! They would ship me another TV after I send this one back incidentally for a further amount of $99.95.

I refuse to pay to send a TV back that was already messed up when they shipped it to me. RCA is not the company we grew up with. RCA sold their trademark to the French, who made TV's for about 15 years, and then they sold the trademark to the Chinese. These TV's are shipped to the US but there are no replacement parts. Yes, I think a class action should be brought against TTE Technology. And what is the FCC ruling regarding the requirement for replacement parts on TV's? TTE has already been fined by the FCC on September 10, 2008 for importing TV's that were not DTV ready.

In Feb. 2008 (three months later), when we turned the TV on, the picture was all distorted. It looked like perfect squares mixed with blobs of color. Within days, the TV would come on for a few seconds then a black screen for minutes, while the power button made a clicking noise and flashed. I notified RCA (rep. informed me this is a very common issue with the TV) and was told the main brain of the TV was out. I asked how this could happen in a 3-month period. I was told it happens all the time, more than likely from when the TV had been shipped.

The RCA rep was very friendly and walked me through the steps of getting the TV repaired. The closest repair shop was a 45-minute drive for us. I called the shop and arranged the repairs. The TV was fixed. I was worried on the drive home that this would happen again, but quickly dismissed the worries as I had been very pleased with RCA's customer service. Then in Dec. of '08, the TV started acting up again. I once again called RCA. This time, the customer service rep was very rude and stuck firmly that the warranty is up and RCA would not help fix the problem (even after their staff informed me this is a very common issue with the product). When I asked the rep why RCA did not feel the need to stand behind their products (that clearly was a manufacture defect), the rep continued to stand firm on the TV being out of warranty, yet still admitted that this was a very common problem with these TV's that is caused by any type of movement.

So I guess you're supposed to move your living room into the electronics dept. to ensure the main brain of your TV isn't fried in the process of taking it home after purchase. So end result was our $1,000 TV was smashed in the driveway after 13 months of ownership (even this still didn't relieve the stress my husband needed going through all this). I will never buy RCA products again nor recommend them to anyone!

My son is on his way home now from Iraq just to find no TV. I had an RCA, I bought in 1980 and it worked for 20 years with no problems until the picture tube went out. I feel bad that I told my son that RCA was a good brand for him to get. We will never buy an RCA product again, ever!

Now the screen is turning black at the right side and it makes this horrible screeching noise which I found out is the color wheel attached to motor so they want $800. I brought an RCA TV L32HD32D on 12/20/08 with a 2-year extended warranty because of the switch over in February. We did not hook it up until the end of January 2009 (because of the holiday). It showed great and sounded great for about 3 months and then it would go to a black screen and you would have sound no picture. You could cut off and leave off for a while and then it would play good for a while and then cut off again. I called the number in the book and they gave me a repair service. I took it to the service (Kirk's Electronics in Alpharetta, GA) on 6/24/09. He called in about 3 days and said that they could not fix it and that the part was not available and they would send me a replacement (new).

So I waited for 2 weeks - they did not contact me. It was the July 4th weekend, so I waited until after the 4th just in case they were on vacation on 7/10/09. I just went back to Kirk's and asked about the TV and he said that the part was not available and I could just take it with me and call an 800 number and they would give me a case number. I called and got a case number. Then I had to call another number and spoke with Nicole. She said to fax them a copy of the receipt and Kirk's repair ticket on 7/10/09 and they would get back with me. No one called. I called them back on 7/17/09 and Nicole again said that they were reviewing the case, someone would call me, and there’s no call again. On 7/20/09, I called back and the person handling the case was out sick and should be back tomorrow. I called them back and Nicole said that the one that was handling the case was out sick and would be back tomorrow. I called back on 7/22/09 and Natalie was still reviewing the case.

On 7/29/09, I spoke with Jesica and Denise said that they would be sending a refurbished one in 7 to 10 days. On 8/7/09, there’s still nothing. On 8/21/09, I called back and said that I would have to send my TV in and then they would send me a message that they were sending a return label out to me. To this day I have not got it. That is twice that they said that. They said that since the first one in July. I did not get it or I still have not got a call. I have called every time that I talked to someone. I asked to speak to a manager and said that I was as high as it goes. They gave me PO Box to write to. All I want is a TV worth as much as I gave for it ($477.88) and that was when it was on sale at Walmart in Dawsonville, Ga.

We bought the RCA model L32HD32D TV in January 2009. By March/April, the screen shut down and would go black. There was sound, no picture. By the time we located our receipt, the 90-day return at Walmart was over. We then called RCA. After quite a long wait, we were told to fax the receipt, model and serial number and to call back to get service number. We did all that and called back and had to re-send receipt. This time I told the girl I wanted the number since I wasn't interested in waiting another 1/2 hour on the phone. She gave me a service # and said a service center in our area would be contacting us by the end of the week. Of course, there was no phone call.

So back on the phone again, this time we were told we had to give a credit card so they could bill us $100 for the service call. We gave them the card, with great hesitation since we already paid for the TV and it supposedly has a year warranty, waited 10 days to call because we hadn't heard from them and today, they say they will send a pick up form in the mail. We are supposed to send the TV, track it, and then call them when they receive it? We don't know what to do. We will never buy RCA again! Anybody out there know where to go from here? We do have names and dates of who we talked to at RCA.

According to their directions, I sent my cashier's check to TTE c/o DEX in Groveport, OH and shipped the TV to TTE Technology Inc in Marietta, GA. After 1 month, I contacted RCA only to be told to call their business office at 8772978391. After being on hold for 3 times of 45 minutes each, I finally spoke to someone who said they no longer contracted work with the companies I had been told to mail my check and TV to. They would assign my case to someone to investigate.

Next, I received a letter from RCA addressed to another person with directions on how they should send back their TV. The next business day, I received the other person's replacement TV. Now I cannot get through to anyone who will take the report that I have received someone else's TV. I have called the main office, the support group #, and emailed their support group. I have requested to talk to a supervisor - and was told one would call me later. I have thus far called the business office 3 times today and each time have been on hold for at least 30 minutes only to be disconnected. So in conclusion, RCA has taken my money to repair my TV. Then the screen faded from black on the lower left to white on the upper right at a diagonal. And there's no sound, no menu, and no picture! I called the tech department at RCA/TTE Tech. I was put on hold for 25 minutes for the 3rd time. I was given an email address to send my receipt for the pop processing, whatever that is. I was told it would take 24-48 hours to receive a call back on the situation. I never received a call. 10 days later, there's still no call.

I decided to call again. This time, the guy at TTE found my email and put me on hold again until he confirmed my warranty info. A total of 45 minutes was wasted! They wanted to charge me $99.95 for a replacement TV. If I chose to go this route, they would send a form in the mail. I would take it and have it packaged at a UPS store to return to them. Once they received the TV, they would send out a new one.

Obviously, there has been a lot of trouble with this TV and brand. Needless to say, we chose not to pay the $99.95. Why should I have to pay any more money on a TV that I already paid for?! And would I get a new or refurbished TV?! And when would I receive it?! I'm very disappointed with the service and the product. We chose to go with RCA because of the name. Never again! I purchased an RCA television set (model number HD50LPW175yx12) in July 2005. After one year, 2006, I had to replace the color lamp (cost $150 OEM), which was expected. Exactly one year later, my TV screen started to black out automatically after about 30 minutes. I informed RCA about this issue, and I was advised that I needed to replace the lamp again, which I've done, only to find that the set still does not work. Another call was made to RCA, and I was advised that I need to take the set to an authorized RCA service center, which I did. I was then advised that it needed a color wheel and that after paying the $110.00 diagnostic fee, it would be an additional $400 (parts and labor) fee. I agreed to pay this, since I couldn't afford another TV set at this time.

I received a call from the repair shop advising me that they have bad news and that the color wheel for my set was no longer being manufactured. I then called RCA to inform them of their findings. I was told to allow them 2-3 business days to perform a "global search" for the part. They were unable to locate the part. I was then told that I would need to give them an additional 3-5 business days for them to research their warehouse for a comparable model and that I would then be contacted and made an offer of fair market value for my set.

Needless to say, I've not ever received a follow-up call from RCA. Each time, I've had to initiate contact. I learned today that they don't have another set in their warehouse to offer me and that as soon as one becomes available, I would be notified. I was not given any sort of time frame. I do find it hard to believe that RCA does not have any comparable model. After reading all of the blogs posted on the internet, I do believe that I am out of $2000. Something has to be done. They should not be able to get away with this sort of robbery. It seems like their units are set up to malfunction after the warranty has expired. I am acting on my father’s behalf and I have been trying to get the faulty product replaced ever since. Model: L26HD31. Serial number: 1281E8347. Case number: **. Return number: **.

I called the RCA service line at 1-800-951-9582 in May 2009 and inquired about the procedure to have the TV exchanged. I had the required receipt faxed repeatedly to your RCA repair center. I repeatedly had to call to see if the fax was received. The service department claimed it was not legible. I had it faxed to my office and it was clear and legible. I sent an electronic copy by email to the RCA repair center. Each time I call the RCA service center, I am put on hold while someone reviews my file. Calls average around 40 minutes in length. With the electronic version of the receipt received and accepted, I was issued a return number and was told a prepaid shipping label would be sent out immediately and that I should expect it within 5 to 10 business days. No label has ever arrived.

I have spoken with a supervisor and a manager. It is always a waiting game. I call and they tell me the prepaid shipping labels will be sent and then I have to wait another 10 business days. I requested my money back and was told that was not an option. The TV has been defective for months and I have wasted hours on the phone with them. No compensation was offered. No apology was offered, no explanation or assurance that my problem would be resolved. I must wait again for a shipping label to arrive. I am concerned the replacement product will also fail. I called the RCA service center and I believe it is run by DEX. I requested information to contact the head office and was told that no information on RCA could be given out for security purposes. What kind of joke is that?

I called again today and tried to get the agent to walk me through the process of sending the labels. He hung up on me. I called back and persisted on talking to a manager. The manager looked at my case file and finally admitted that no prepaid shipping labels have been sent.

I am a disabled senior and don't get around like I used to. My son bought me a 50" RCA TV in April of 2008. In Sept. of 2008, my TV started going black off and on and then it just went out. It turned out to be the lamp, part # 275179R. I went through all the receipts, faxes and confusing customer service. It took three phone calls but three weeks later, I had my part. My son installed it for me and once again I was back on TCM. Now, it is July 2009 and my replacement lamp is going out again. I called the local RCA dealer before calling RCA support and he said RCA is not what it used to be. My answer was, "Amen, brother!" After calling RCA customer support, I now have learned the replacement bulb only had a 90-day warranty (that says a lot about RCA right there). It has been nine months and I will have to pay over $165 to replace the lamp and $55 service call. When I was talking with RCA support, I asked to speak with a manager but was told after holding for over 10 minutes they were all busy and once again he told me there was no warranty on the replacement lamp. He also told me the life expectancy of the lamp is between 4,000 and 6,000 hours. When you divide that by 365 days in a year, you actually would have to replace the lamp every year if you watch over 14 hours a day of TV.

Now, I don't watch that much but I used to leave it on all day. Now, I turn it off when I am not in front of it. They don't tell you this when you buy the TV. This is corporate greed at its worst. If they cannot make a lamp that last longer than a year, they shouldn't being making it or selling it. After looking online and finding hundreds of people with this same problem, I wanted to get in my 2 cents worth. There has to be something someone can do. I have called Wal-Mart and asked them why they still sell RCA? I filed a complaint with them as well and I will see what happens. I know they only have a 30-day warranty on electronics but they should not be selling RCA if it only last six months. I also went to the RCA website and wrote them an email which I am sure they will never answer. Like last time, I will get a pre-written statement with a number to call where I will get no answers to my problem. Thank you for letting me complain. I sincerely hope someone can do something. We took it there and they diagnosed the problem and tried to get the part. Thomson told them the part was not available. They told them we would take an exchange. After not hearing anything from them, I contacted Thomson on 7/8/09 and was told that they would get back to me.

I contacted them again on 7/9/09 after they did not return my call that day like they said they would. I was told that they were still processing my claim. On 7/17/09, I called them again and was given a new case number and told that they would be sending a new unit, which was in fact an upgrade from mine and the repair shop would receive it in 7-10 business days. I called back today to the repair shop to see if they had heard anything and they had not. I contacted Thomson again and was told this time that the unit was not in stock and that when it became available, they would send one out to the repair shop and it would then take 7-10 business days.

I asked if they had any idea when that would be and they told me that they did not know when that would be. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that they were the highest up that I could go and that they had no supervisors. I tried calling another number for RCA and it sent me right back to these people. Is there anyway to get in contact with someone else in that company? I am beginning to wonder. Can someone help?

I purchased a 32" LCD RCA TV on 05/17/09. Within a week, the image on the LCD screen had burned into the display. So, I had made arrangements with RCA warranty services to return the TV for replacement. I chose the Pre-Return exchange option where I send the broken television to them and when they receive it, they are to send me a new replacement. They said the replacement should take no more that 7-10 business from date of receiving the broken television. I shipped the broken TV on 06/24/09.

I did not hear anything back from RCA so I presumed everything was fine. As of 07/15/09, I still had not received my replacement. I called the customer service and was informed they no longer have the TV I purchased as it is not being made. They gave the option to replace the TV with a similar model that would be shipped right away, to be received within 3 days. I then asked why I was never informed my model of television is no longer being made, so I could then request a different replacement? The answer I received was, "I don't know," but a new TV would be received in 3 days as soon as I agreed to the new replacement. I okayed the replacement TV on 07/16/09, and was then informed it may take up to 7-10 business days to receive this TV. It is now 30 days from the date I originally sent the TV in to be replaced. I called again this morning to check on the status and was informed it has not even been shipped yet and they have 7-10 business to get this TV back to me. I have purchased a TV in good faith of it being one of the best quality TVs and it has not been so.

I have not had a chance to enjoy my television as it has been out of my hands. Is there anything that can be done to get my TV back and compensation for the lack of communication in reference to my TV no longer being made?

The TV repairman said it was the transformer and it is common with this year model and he sees it a lot. I think it should have been a recall.

I purchased an RCA TV at Wal-Mart, model L26HD31, for CA$507.10 including taxes. After eight months, it did the same thing that the other people are talking about on this site. It shuts itself off and never comes back on. This is a bedroom TV and hardly used. I called their number on the manual and they told me to send it back and they would send me a new one. The waiting on the phone calls which were directed to the Philippines was a nightmare. When I finally got the TV and returned the other one, I realized that it is a cheaper TV at Costco. It cost CA$350 plus taxes, plus the remote is not programmable. This is a 2009 TV. I have a Sony that is 10 years old and had never had a problem and it has a programmable remote.

When I called again, they told me that this model does not have the features of the returned TV and they no longer make them. Gee, I wonder why. Yet, they sent me a cheaper model. How can they get away with this? The model they sent is L26HD31R, which costs CA$495 with taxes. They said they are working on improving the remote and I would need to buy a new one when they come out. Are these people for real? Thanks to RCA, I will buy my new 42" TV from Sony. Meanwhile, this TV is on the market and people will not know the missing features until they turn it on and the remote sucks. Meanwhile, they cheated me out of CA$120 and it is a lousy TV. I had the volume as high as it will go and it was still low. I will never buy an RCA. I have already told four of my friends who were going to get a new TV. Thanks for your time.

I bought a new TV made by RCA (Proscan), but the TV went out in less than 3 months. I even bought the in-house extended warranty, but they said it doesn’t go into effect until the factory warranty runs out. They must be given the chance to repair it first. The woman on the phone said there weren’t any repair places close to where I live, so I needed to call around and see if I could find one that would work on it in my area. I called her back and gave her the list and she would do what she could. She gave me the name to call and he picked it up. He said it would take a few days. It’s been over a month and I’ve called and no one even returned my calls.

The people I called to find out who could repair it even said they had some Proscans in their back room that they couldn’t get parts for over 6 months. I told the factory lady this and she just said that there are different circumstances and she doesn’t know about that. The people who are to repair them said they really don’t want to work on them and the person who’s working on it now said he should have never said he would. But even him didn’t call back (George’s Electric; 509-483-8258). I finally bought a new one (Sony) because I can’t stand not having a TV. I’m 62 and watch a lot of TV. That’s why I bought a new one (my first HD flat screen) and in 3 months, it went out. They said they could fix it right away. Ha! Ha! All RCA would give me is that one phone and they never answer or return my calls. I called again on the 20th and twice today and it’s just a machine.

I made a complaint about 2 RCA televisions that I owned. Both are less than 4 years old and have been broken for about 6 months. I think that this is ridiculous. My daughter also has an RCA television and hers was made in 2002 and is still working. Apparently, any models made in the last 5 years are somehow defective. In my opinion, I think that all owners that have a TV manufactured in 2003 or late should receive some type of compensation. We are out of 2 TVs that we paid good money for. I don't think that they should be broken this soon.

Now, the service center, after 2 months of calls and transferring me to every other place under the sun, says they are waiting for inventory from RCA. They tell me RCA will not send them the TVs they need to ship me my replacement. This cannot continue to happen. It had 1 year replacement and I also purchased the extended warranty. They are stealing.

How can they be allowed to keep doing this? I have never dealt with a company that knowingly sells crap and does nothing about it. The service center blames RCA and RCA says, call the service center. They have a little racket going, the TVs are ** and the service is worse than that. I will never buy another electronic item from RCA or Walmart. But please help me resolve this issue as it cost me over $500.00 and didn’t last 6 months. My 75-year-old, recently widowed father purchased an RCA 32" flat screen from Wal-Mart in Sydney, Nova Scotia (store # 3101) in August ‘09. By March ’09, it stopped working. RCA told him to drop it off in Glace Bay (Morgan's Electronics) for repair. This gentleman, after a few weeks, couldn't fix it and informed RCA/Thomson. He informed us he was waiting on RCA's decision. My father purchased extra warranty when he purchased it. After several phone conversations and being passed back and forth and told, "It's not our department that deals with this," with RCA/Thompson, they agreed to replace the TV. So, we waited.

My last conversation with them was last week. They said they are waiting on inventory. I told them that is not good enough. Today is July 3rd and he still is without a TV! I wrote Wal-Mart, urging them to stop carrying their products. Speaking with others - this is not an isolated event. The RCA flat screen is a terrible product and what is worse is the service they provide. It should be illegal. He basically gave them his money and in return he is left without anything. They didn't even have the decency to offer a cash payout or upgrade him. They will give him the same TV, which is now $200 less than when he bought it. I feel sorry for what seniors have to deal with today. It has been hard enough for me to contact/deal with these people. I am outraged! How can this be legal? This is a product/company without integrity. I am reading all these complaints, but what can we do about it?

I originally purchased an RCA R52WH77YX58 projection TV from Best Buy on 8/26/2006 for $949.99. The TV started experiencing severe picture problems in June of 2008. I contacted RCA who referred me to Best Buy's in-home repair service. Their first visit to my home occurred 6/21/2008. I paid the $100 service call and was advised that he will need to order the part to fix the issue. After numerous calls to Best Buy to find out the status of the replacement part, I was advised on 9/10/2008 (yes, the date is correct) that the part is no longer available anywhere in the country.

I contacted RCA on 9/12/2008 and spoke to Sara who would review my case. I called again on 9/25/2008 and was advised that RCA would perform a prorated exchange and I was offered 3 model options to choose from. On 9/26/2008, I spoke to Natalie and selected the L40HD36 LCD TV for $199.82 which was shipped and received at my home on 10/10/2008. All went well up until 6 weeks ago when the replacement TV started to sporadically demonstrate a black square in the middle of the screen. We would turn the TV off, then on and it would go away. Well, this morning, 7/02/2009, half of the picture was grayed out and the other half flickers non-stop.

I contacted RCA's service #, explained my issue, frustration with the quality of their products, and overall fury with the entire situation! Since I was calling Manila, the majority of the representative's answers were scripted. I was advised I had to arrange a service call at my cost. When I pointed out that the replacement product, L40HD36, has a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase, the representative informed me that I only received a 90-day warranty based upon my original purchase for the R52WH77YX58! I challenged this statement since it doesn't make sense to me that they can change the product warranties to their convenience! Can this be legal? I will close with a warning to consumers that RCA / TTE Technology TVs do not last more than a year and they do not support their product! Feedback regarding legal action would be welcomed!

About two years ago I purchased an expensive RCA HDTV from Walmart. The TV worked great up until two days ago when I got back from my vacation. I was gone for about 2 months and when I returned, my RCA TV would not turn on. I unplugged it and tried all the suggestions, but nothing happened. The power button will come on if pressed then go back off and do that two more times without a button being pushed. I called customer service the next day and spoke to a woman who couldn't even speak English.

She told me to do what I had already attempted. She then told me I'd have to get my TV repaired and she gave me a number in Montgomery. She said the warranty would cover any costs but my warranty was only for 1 year! The RCA website has not helped me either. I have been reading online at all the of exact same incidents occurring with these RCA TVs. I believe RCA knows what they are doing and continue to do so just to make a profit with cheap products. So, I sit here in my apartment with no TV even though I paid for one. I am still trying to locate my recipe, no luck so far.

I called and in February of 09, my television was sent to an RCA approved repair center. After I received my television back from the repair center, I was still having the same problem, so it shortly went back to the repair center. Well, this is now July of 09 and I am still without the TV that I have paid for.

Every time I call I get the run around. When I call RCA they tell me they will ship me another TV because my original is unrepairable, however, they do not have one in stock to ship to me and they do not know when they will get one. So, I am sitting at my home with no TV and do not know when I will get a replacement. When I talk to the repair center they also say my original TV is unrepairable. However, they have stated that RCA told them they have to do a buy back and give me my money back for my television. When I call and ask RCA about their buy back program they tell me they cannot refund me my money, I have to wait till they get a replacement TV in stock. Please Help! I do not know what else to do. Honestly, after going to all this trouble, I do not want an RCA product in my home. However, I am also very upset that I have paid for a television that I do not have!

I have paid $598 for a television that I do not have. I also paid $59.88 for a warranty that I cannot utilize. I have also been paying for cable each month and an Xbox live subscription that I cannot use because I have no TV to use it on.

I have called them and the only thing they said was "sorry about that" and gave me the numbers to repair places in my area. I wrote again as I was not happy with the answer as no one is standing behind this product. They emailed me back and stated to call them to go through troubleshooting with my manual. There's nothing to go through, I told them. It smelled like it was burning and I was not plugging it in.
