I purchased a new Philips plasma TV in January 2009 from Sam’s Club. Within six months the television no longer worked. I called Philips to get my TV repaired and this is when the trouble began. I soon realized the company had no good intention on making a quality repair or a fair trade available. It started when Sam’s Club faxed them the receipt from the original purchase. One week after the fax confirmation, they claimed they did not receive it. With the second fax, they claimed the receipt was not specific enough. They were clearly stalling. Two weeks later, on the third fax, they finally accepted there was a warranty involved and would send a repair person to fix it. The repairman came out one week later and said the TV needed all the internal components replaced. He further stated the only part he would not be replacing was the actual screen since it was in excellent condition (it should be since it was only 6 months old).
He ordered the parts, left the heavy TV dangling by two screws (extreme hazard with a toddler being around it), and told me he would be back in a week. Four days later, I received a call from a Philips rep named Peter who said the parts were not going to be available for 22 days and the time-frame was unacceptable, so he was replacing the broken model with a new LCD. Two days after his first message, he called back and said he accidentally looked at the calendar wrong and the parts would be in on time. He further stated the LCD was no longer being offered. I felt very upset at this point since I was offered a replacement, only to have the rep tell me he was mistaken and an LCD would not be given in exchange.
Now, another week passed and we still had no TV or a resolution. The same man came out once again with the parts and tried fixing the plasma. He said the front panel was broke and the TV was irreparable. He further replied that panels should last for 18 years and they usually are the last part in a television to go. Philips then agreed to send a new LCD comparable to the size of our broken plasma. This sounded like great news since now we were going on at least 30 days of not having a TV. He said it would be a 52” or 55" LCD and we would have it in under 10 days. Then he said to call back on Monday (it was Thursday) to set up a delivery schedule. I called back today only be told that I would not be receiving a new 52” or 55" LCD, but I was going to be given a refurbished 47" instead.
I was crushed once again since I wanted something fair for the initial purchase of the 50" plasma I bought back in January! I was also informed the delivery of the crap replacement would be at least 10 more days. I am so crushed over this matter and the stress of having a major purchase being replaced with a refurbished model less in size is unbelievable. This company seems to have a large erroneous reputation of treating consumers unfairly, replacing their faulty products with other malfunctioning items to wear out the warranty. The consumer is left with a huge purchase and nothing after a years time to show for it. Please look at https://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/philips.html. I am one of hundreds or possibly thousands of individuals who have had the same problem. Please help me get a fair resolution, because without some intervention Philips will keep raking in consumer dollars and cheating hard working families who buy their products.

I am another victim of the red light syndrome for my 42" Philips Plasma TV. I experienced the symptoms same as everyone else. I called Philips and some halfwit told me that it was probably a problem with my power strip! I called again and the person acted surprised about this problem. What **. I am never buying another Philips product.

I bought 2 flat screen TVs, a 50-inch and a 42-inch. About two months out of warranty, the 42-inch went dead with the blinking red light of death. Then two months later, the same thing happened to the 50-inch. I called Philips and they said that they do nothing for out of warranty products and to try their website because he sees some info on there that might help. I asked him what the info was and he said that he could help me no further because my TV was out of warranty. I have two TVs that I took out on a loan to buy and they do not work anymore, but I still pay the loan.

My 37" Philips LCD TV failed twice within 7 months. The red light blinks 5 times. Philips' help was not good. First, they said they would cover parts, then went back on their word the next day. The TV is not worth fixing because the cost would exceed the purchase price.

There's an easy, cheap fix to the Philips' blinking red light (7 flashes) problem that so many people have described here. We purchased the Philips 42-inch plasma TV, model 42PF9431D/37, at Costco in Nov 2006. The flashing red light problem began in August 2009. Initially, unplugging the TV for a short while and then plugging it back in addressed the problem. But that solution was very short-lived. Philips technical support was not at all helpful. They gave us the number of a local TV repair shop, who informed us that it would cost $200-$500 to fix. When I saw the same problem described over and over again on this website, I figured the problem must have a common source. It turns out there is a simple answer and it is a shame that Philips won't acknowledge the problem.
After searching around on the internet, I found a couple of postings on some "geek" sites that all offered the same solution to the problem. Let me say that I am electronically challenged and typically, I am not able to fix anything electrical, but this fix was simple even for me (my 9-year old son was a tremendous help). The problem, according to these experts, is due to poor design and under-engineering. There are two low voltage capacitors that are the culprits for this problem. If you remove the back of the TV (the most difficult part of the repair because there are about 50 screws to be removed), you will find a large circuit board in the center. You will see many coffee can shaped parts with flat silver tops, these are capacitors. The two problem capacitors will have raised up or bubbled tops (they should be flat).
You'll probably find the two blown capacitors adjacent to each other and located at the bottom center of the circuit board. Ours were 3300 uF 10 volt and were replaced with 3300 25 volt, per recommendation of the experts. You'll have to take out the circuit board, which requires the removal of screws and a few connector cables. You'll have to take the circuit board to a repair shop that will solder the old capacitors off for you and then solder on the new ones. Finding a TV repair service that is willing to do this might be the trickiest part. I was able to find a shop easily, but they were reluctant to do so at first. The guy who repaired it said they weren't authorized to repair individual parts on the circuit board and that typically, they would replace the whole board. He said he couldn't guarantee that simply replacing the capacitors would work.
I assured him that I had nothing to lose, I was about to scrap the TV anyway and that if it did not work, I would not hold them liable. He made the repair and charged me $35, I gave him an extra $10 for his trouble (his boss would not have approved). The whole repair took him 10 minutes. I brought the circuit board home and my son and I reassembled the TV in about half an hour. The TV is working like a charm. I'm submitting this post to this website with hopes that it will save others the hundreds of dollars that I saved with this simple fix.

We purchased a 42" LCD on 1/6/08, and about 3 months ago I turned the TV on and there was sound and back lights but nothing on the screen, it was black. I rang to get it fixed so they took our TV for a week. When they brought it back, I asked if it would happen again and they said that it is fixed now. They delivered it back to us and just as they were leaving it went again so then they fixed it in our house. Now just over a month later it’s gone again. When I rang the first time, I rang Phillips to complain and the guy was so rude he actually got cranky with me and did not want to help one bit. I cannot believe a product can be so faulty when we paid out two and a half thousand and just like a lot of other people, we got a dud. I really think they need to do a recall on all Phillips TV because no one should have to go through this. We thought we were doing a good thing spending a lot of money on a TV but all we have had is a headache.
I rely on our TV for our 1 year old son and it is so disappointing because now I cannot put his favorite channel on because the other TV does not pick it up and we cannot watch DVDs because the other TV uses a different cable. I am so angry and really, really frustrated that no one wants to help. I will never ever buy another Phillips product ever again, they can stick it up their ** and I hope they go bust!

I purchased a new 52-inch LCD TV on May 2, 2009. The TV stopped working in July 2009. I called Philips to talk with their tech support (what a joke) and after 2 weeks, I finally got a repairman to look at it. I was told that the part that was bad cannot be gotten by Phillips because it was made in China. After many calls to Philips, they told me that I would have to box the TV and ship it back to them at my cost and they would send me a refurbished model. Can you believe that? Pay 2 grand for a TV that lasted 2 months, then goes on the blink and then they want you to pay to ship it back to them and they will send you a refurbished model? I have owned 3 widescreens in my life and I promise you that I will never own another Philips product in my entire life. No one in my family or friends will buy one. When I meet someone, the first topic of conversation will be how crappy Philips TVs are.

I purchased a 50" Philips plasma TV two years ago. About a month ago, I turned the TV on and it had no picture. It had sound but nothing else. I dropped it off at the only Philips repair shop in town. After three weeks of no news, I received a call telling me that Philips doesn't sell the individual Buss bars that I need for the repair, so they need to buy the entire board for $1,300. I only paid $1,400 for the TV brand new. Not sure where to go from here?

I own a Philips 50 inch plasma with ambiance light just a little over a year. I, too, share the same issues like most of you here. My TV would go blank for 10 to 15 seconds and back on. Recently, I got the blinking red light. To get it back to work, I reset the breaker switch in the garage because I can't reach behind the TV to unplug it. So now I'm just going to wait until it doesn't work anymore like most of you here. It seems like Philips doesn't care about these ongoing issues that they've been having or take appropriate steps to correct or enhance its product. I am so disappointed with Philips. Never again will I have anything to do with their product. One last thing. I got another Philips to remind me every morning, a shaver. I can't wait for this piece of crap to go too.

Well, I guess I am the latest casualty in the Philips red light saga. I bought my 50PF9630A/37 just three years ago and started getting the 6/3 red blinking light about 2 weeks ago. For the first week and a half, unplugging it until the light stopped and plugging it back in allowed me to keep watching. As of yesterday, nothing. Nada. Zilch. I did not waste my time with Philip's tech support since over 300 people in this forum have had no luck dealing with them. I now, too, will never again buy another Philips' product. You'd think they'll learn from what the big 3 car companies have gone through over the past 30 years. I guess we'll be bailing Philips out in the years to come.
I know plasma TVs only had about a 12,000 hour life expectancy, but I thought that was because of the gas and not poorly designed circuit boards. I paid $2,400 for this TV and now it will cost me another $1k+ to replace it with a non-Philips product.

I purchased a 47-inch Philips LCD TV last year and a month before the warranty was up, a green line started to appear on the screen from top to bottom. I called Philips and they sent me a replacement, but the replacement was worse. The speakers would give off this horrendous static noise while watching TV and you would never know when it would happen. Changing the channel or input would temporarily stop the noise. But it would come back on again all through the day. I called Philips back and they said they would replace the replacement.
A week went by, I called back on the status. They canceled the order and never told me! Apparently, they re-ordered the replacement, but I don't believe them and I am not even treated as a priority. Please help! I am home all day (I work at home and take care of my kids). Because we don't have a lot of money to go out, our TV is a big part of our lives. We watch movies, play Wii, etc. We can't do this because of the "static" issue. I just want my money back so I can buy a different TV from a different company.

We purchased this TV back in August 2006. We experienced the TV going off and on for a long time when one day, the TV shut off and the 7 red blinking lights started. This was in March 2009. In our experience, we had an extended warranty and between the warranty group and the repair company, the TV was fixed with only a minor delay. Then on August 14, 2009, I was watching TV, a show that I had on DVR and my phone rang, so I paused the show. Within a few minutes, there was a very loud humming noise coming from the TV. When I looked over, it looked as though some kind of liquid was coming down the center of the TV. I really thought from the loud humming, that the TV was going to blow up. I turned off the TV and that was when I noticed what looks like a crack down the center of the TV. When I touched the screen, it was not a crack on the outside but on the inside screen.
With the TV still under warranty, I called the warranty company and submitted a claim. I told her and another girl and the repair shop all the same thing. No one ever said anything that would have led me to know what they all decided happen to the TV. We are now being told that I am a liar and that the TV suffered some kind of impact and that it is not covered under the warranty! We are trying to find anyone that has had a similar experience. I am a big girl now and if I did something to my TV, I would just say that I did. How can they come to this conclusion without even looking inside the TV?

I purchased the Philips HTS6500 DVD Home Theater System. It worked fine for a while. I went to put a DVD in about two months ago, and the display just kept going back and forth between "close" and "eject" and the DVD would not play. Also, none of the buttons on the front panel worked, only the volume control knob. There have been many other similar complaints that I have come across while searching for a solution to this problem. I feel that there should be a recall so that the product will be fixed free of charge or replaced with a new similar product.

Last week, Sears called to inform us that the warranty was about to expire and my husband declined to renew it. Lo and behold, this week it started to not turn on. The power indicator light would turn red after trying to turn it on and blink several times. It will also turn itself off and back on when watching it. I have noticed several people on this site with the exact same problems. This warranty crap is such a scam! But after a while, it didn't matter how long I have it on, it would still flash red. Now, it has become worse than it was. It takes me about half an hour to 45 minutes every day just to turn it on in the mornings! Now I'm to a point where once I turn the TV on, I leave it on all day and night. The television we purchased in late 2006, a 50-inch Philips plasma television, has ceased working. The television was indicating an upgrade was needed to correct the issue. At the advice of the Philips support personnel, I purchased a USB stick, formatted it myself, downloaded the upgrade from their website and installed it on the television.
According to the information on the upgrade, it should have corrected the problem. The third support center tech was not very knowledgeable and my husband and I were able to get the television on and working. The following morning, we went to turn the television on and nothing happened. When I called the technical support center again, I was told there was nothing else they could do except to provide a phone number to an authorized Philips dealer/repair person in our state. We purchased a Philips 50" plasma with ambilight, model #50PF9631D/37, from Circuit City in Saginaw, MI in Feb 2007. Maybe a year after we got it, it started turning on and off by itself. A year and a half after having it, these things started happening. The screen would go black; the screen would go pink with vertical banding lines; the top half of the screen would go black or the top half would have banding lines. Now the past 8 months, occasionally we'd turn it on and it would click, the green light would come on and then it would start flashing red and there would be no picture or sound. It used to be fixed by resetting the TV, but today that won't work. We've done it a dozen times and it won't stay on now.
We used tax return money for half of the purchase price and put the other half on a Circuit City card, which we paid off in full before the company went under. We purchased a 50" Philips Plasma with Ambilight about 2 years ago. For the past 6 months, the TV would shut off for about 20-30 seconds randomly. We thought it was the cable connection and had Comcast here every other week trying to fix the problem. About 1 month ago, upon turning on the TV and seeing the green light, it would then turn to red and flash about 5-7 times. And it would stop for about 5 seconds and then flash again. As of today, the TV will not go back on. So I decided to look online, and I noticed that we are not the only consumers out there with the same problem. When this first started happening, we called Philips. They advised us to upgrade the TV's software. So we went through all of their instructions, and we were able to download the software to the TV. This upgrade did absolutely nothing. We called the service department back in, which advised we would have to contact a TV repair shop in our area to have them come and fix it. On July 29, 2006, I purchased a 37" Philips LCD HDTV (model 37PF9431D/37). Around June 2008, the unit started to shut of by itself and be back on around 20 to 30 seconds later. This would happen 4 or 5 times a day. Since I had an extended warranty, the TV was serviced by a local TV repair shop and was returned to me 3 weeks later. The service performed was "soldered fuse on power supply." I must also mention the fact that around March 2008, Philips sent me a letter offering to extend their coverage for the following year; and like in the previous year, I could pay in 3 payments of $46.65 each.
On March 21, 2008, I mailed my first check. They did not send the bill for the 2nd or the 3rd payment like they did the previous year, and I admit that I forgot about the payments until I realized that the expiration date of my warranty was July 29, 2008. When I called about this, they informed me that Philips no longer provide extended coverage to Puerto Rico.
The TV kept acting the same way, and after many calls to them, they agreed to have the same TV repair shop check it again. It was picked up on August 22, 2008 and returned to me on September 17, 2008. And according to them, nothing's wrong with the unit. It kept working with its flaws but working until the morning of July 15, 2009. I turned it on, and those famous red blinking lights come on, but there's no video or sound. It is dead! I should also add that after many calls, I got my money of my first payment to my extended coverage that was to be valid until July 29, 2009.

I tried the software update, but since I don't get a picture, I can’t check if the upgrade worked. My TV is still broken. For a few days, I could unplug the TV and plug it back in. But now, it won't even turn on. I sent an email to Phillips, and they said they weren't told what the error codes were. I was just wanting to know what to expect as far as getting it repaired, as I did not get an extended warranty. I can get a local TV repair to give me a quote for $70. I just don't want to spend money on something that will break in another 2.5-3 years.
It appears that everyone is having the same problem around the same time. I would hope that perhaps a class action suit could be brought about. I was advised by their customer service dept to contact an authorized repair facility. I called Maurice TV/Electronics per Philips' instructions. I was advised that it was a manufacturer's problem. I bought a Philips HD 42" (Model 42PF7320A/37) Plasma in August of 2006. After about a year, randomly the top half of the screen would turn blank out and look like someone threw yellow and red paint on it from the inside, but the bottom half of the screen looked clear and great. This would happen for about 15 minutes and then it would stop and go away for a day or two. After talking with the satellite company on many occasions, they thought it was my satellite boxes because they were so old and they said they had heard of that due to the closed caption broadcasting and finally talked me into upgrading. So I upgraded my satellite to HD so I could take advantage of the HD TV (which wasn't explained to me when I bought the TV), that lasted for about a month with no issues and then the top half problem started again.
I called the satellite folks and they told me that it is the TV and has nothing to do with the Satellite. Now, last night I was watching TV and all of a sudden the TV turned itself off and I saw the power light turned red and flashed 7 times in a row, then it paused, and then repeated. I unplugged it for about 10 minutes and plugged it back in and heard a 1 second moment of sound like it was going to start and then it went to the red light flashing 7 times. I called Philips Support and when I told her what model it was, first she started laughing, then walked me through gathering all the info, then asked me to go power it off. I had to explain to her that it won't turn on, so she got a little rude with me and said, “Just unplug it from the wall.” I then informed her it had been unplugged since last night, now what? Then she started talking real low and soft and when I told her I couldn't hear her she started yelling in the phone.
Needless to say, I was not happy at this point but she walked me through plugging the TV back in and immediately pressing the power button and holding it for 10 seconds and letting go. Same response, 1 second of sound and then it shut off and went to the red blinking led lights. That's when she told me while giggling, “Well you're obviously out of warranty, and there is nothing we can do about it, it's a known issue. You need internal servicing so we will need to call someone at your own expense to fix it,” and gave me a number to a service company close by to call. I did call Sears (where I purchased it), as well but since I didn't get an extended service warranty they will not help me, but they had heard of the issue.

I contacted customer service and they advised that there was only one repairman in the area, about 30 miles away from where I lived. He showed up in a rusty beat up old Dodge van to pick up the TV. After about 4 months and numerous calls to customer service, they finally agreed to send me another TV. The TV they sent me was a used repaired model that matched the one I had. Since there is only a one-year warranty on the TV I asked customer service if the warranty had been extended and they politely advised, no, it would not be extended.
I informed customer service that I only had the TV for 6 months and they had it for 4 months. That only left me a couple of months warranty on the used/repaired TV they were sending me. Customer service seemed less than interested in my concern. I finally received the TV and it worked for 3 months and then started giving me problems. The TV is dead in the water now and I have no warranty left, and from what I hear, probably no hope of getting it repaired or replaced. I am very frustrated with Phillips and their products. I will never buy another Phillips product.
In addition to the TV, the DVD surround sound system I had bought when I purchased the TV also went out about 5 months after purchase! Both Phillips products have failed on me and it would appear I am not the only one who has had these problems with this company. I bought a Philips 42" Plasma TV in 2003. After the year's warranty expired, I then purchased 2 consecutive 3-year warranties totaling $3,300. In March, the TV fell into disrepair. The service technician said he couldn't repair it. He also informed me that the TV was manufactured in 1993! That means it was 10 years old when I bought it. Service Net is contracted by Philips for the extended warranties. Service Net will honor the warranty and provide me with a "new" TV. My concern is this: how old can a TV be and still be considered "new"? I've been informed that accepting the "new" TV will void my current warranty which still has 18 months left.

Our 52" Philips TV stopped working after a year and a half; it’s blinking red lights. We paid it around $1,600 at Sears. We just had a technician today, and he ordered a part for me (power supply board). Total cost should be around $520 with 90-day warranty. After reading these comments, I'm thinking about canceling my order.

My husband and I bought a 42" flat screen plasma TV. It's not even 3 years old, but all of a sudden, it went off. Also, the LCD light went from green to flashing red. I have called Philips numerous times to find out if there is a recall on the TV and they told me no. I have talked to many service reps and have been told different stories. This TV cost us nearly $2,500 and Philips can't help. But they want us to have a service repair person to look at it; it will cost anywhere from $109 to $150 just for a service call. That's not including parts and labor. You would think that with the way the economy is now, companies would do what they can to help. I will contact Channel 2 News to let them know what kind of company Philips is and what crappy products they make. I have read several complaints on this website and I don't see Philips trying to recall this type of TV. I will never buy this type of TV made by this company.

I purchased a Philips TV model #47PFL3603D/27 in September of 2008 and paid around $1500 for the unit. We put the unit in our upstairs office area and only used the TV on the weekends for upstairs retreats to watch football games. We noticed early on that the TV was having some sound problems and about every 45 minutes, a loud static noise would come over the TV. Initially, we thought it might be a Dish Network problem and called Dish who told us to simply turn off the TV and Dish and power back up. This worked fine but, after a while, it became annoying so we had a Dish repair person visit our home who said we should try a new HDMI cable. We tried this and the problem persisted.
We called Dish back and they came back out to our home to say it was not a Dish issue, for us to contact who we bought the TV from. We contacted Target who would not accept the unit as a return because it was now past the 90 days. As a result, we contacted Philips who put us in touch with a repair center in Dallas. The repair center picked up the TV and had it for three weeks before they diagnosed the problem. For an additional 2-3 weeks, the replacement part was on back order.
I grew tired of using the repair center as a go between and contacted Philips Consumer Affairs department directly. I was told that policy stated the TV must be in the repair shop for 21 days before a part can be ordered. After appealing to the manager of that department, I was told that I would receive a call from another department in 36 hours. Of course, the call never came and I had to repeatedly make calls to Consumer Affairs. Once I was reached by customer relations, I was told that they had to wait another two days to see if they could find the part. Two days later, there was no call. I called every day until I got an answer - the part would be another five weeks. I refused to be without the unit for that much longer and they agreed to replace the unit in approximately 10 days.
I was so emotionally tired of this situation and was so relieved to feel like the issue was resolved ... until the unit arrived at my house yesterday as a refurbished unit that was not even the same as the old one. When I called Customer Relations to tell them I never agreed to a refurbished replacement, they said it's in the warranty fine print and that if the TV works, then I should have nothing to complain about. Please, please, please! Do not purchase a Philips brand product! This has caused emotional chaos and exhaustion in my everyday life for over six months and has affected my family life. I have had to take numerous days off work to have TVs picked up, delivered, and for visits from the satellite company, yet the issue is still not resolved. Essentially, I am being punished for making what was obviously a poor purchase. Do not let this happen to you!

I bought the TV a little over 2 years ago. Televisions should last like refrigerators. I have a 4-inch black bar on the left side of display shows up in all sources. I am out a little over $1,000. I bought this via my employer site for Philips.

I bought a 50-inch plasma model 50MF231D in 1/07. In 4/09, it would not turn on anymore. I got the green light at first, then the dreaded four blinks of red repeatedly. I unplugged and replugged several times and that worked for about another 2-3 days. Now completely dead. I will never buy another product from this company again. I am hopeful for legal action based on the numerous complaints. It is obvious there is a known defect with these TVs. I lost the $1,300 purchase price, plus had to buy a replacement set (different brand) for $900.

I bought a Philips 42'' plasma TV back in March '07. Lately, the TV doesn't want to come on anymore. I get a series of four red blinking lights and it doesn't come on. I have been reading all the complaints that a lot of people have with this product. I can't figure out why it hasn't been recalled. I kept getting the extended warranty from Philips. We move from our previous address and we never got a renewal letter from Philips, so my wife called and told them about our problem with the warranty. They told her that they didn't send an invitation to renew our warranty. I think that they knew about all the problems people had with this product and didn't want to deal with this anymore.

In a very sad way, I actually feel better reading all these other complaints :-) I bought my 32-inch LCD Magnavox TV about 15 months ago, and it is now dead, real dead. I can't believe it. I paid almost $1000 for it. It's just unbelievable! I guess I am back to shopping $50 TVs at the Goodwill. They work better and I actually get better service!

My TV went out. I had purchased it at Sam's in Victoria, and afterwards received a letter in the mail for a service contract for 5 years, and I purchased it. I later received a letter for a warranty on the picture tube which I also purchased for 5 years. I put both contracts in a drawer and thought that I would never use them. Today, I called the service department. They told me both contracts were for the picture tube and I would have to find a service man to take care of it because the contract did not cover the service, only the picture tube. They then told me that I had purchased 2 contracts for the same thing. They have drawn interest on that money for 2 years and they cannot even find me a service man. I really thought Philips was a better company. They did offer to refund my money on the contract, without interest of course.

My Philips Ambilight 42-inch TV has blown out after 6 months. I paid $1600. I will contact a lawyer. With all the complaints on this TV, why won't Philips recall these TVs? The red light is flashing 7 times. We will start a class action suit.

Last night, my Philips 42-inch plasma, model # 42PF7320A/37, stopped working. It shut down and the red light now flashes 7 times. Last week while watching a movie, the display blanked out several times but came back on but, now, nothing happens except the flashing light. I got pretty dismayed seeing all the other complaints and how unsuccessful the repairs have been, if at all. I thought I was getting a good deal when I found it on sale for $1200, marked down from $1800, back in Mar. 2007, but little did I know. Maybe they knew something then?

I bought my Philips 42 inch flat screen from Circuit City in September of 2006, and it is a goner 30 short months later. When I would go turn it on in the morning, it would blink red. I would unplug and re-plug it and voila! It worked. That lasted for 3 days. Now, even re-plugging will not help - just a series of 4 flashing lights is all the entertainment I get from that thing hanging on my wall. I did my internet research on how to fix it. Jury's out, but also sounds like I am out $2500.

I bought a Philips 42-inch plasma TV from Costco wholesale in September of 2006 for a little over $1,300. Within three months the TV developed a blue line on the far right of the screen from top to bottom. Costco said it was out of their hands and to contact the MFG. Philips Electronics said that they would repair it but shipping would have to come out of our pocket. So, we decided to leave it as is for the high cost of shipping the TV. It worked fine although distracting until 4-2-09 when the TV would not turn on, just a green light followed by seven flashes of red. So, for $1,300 we got a little over two years use out of the TV. That's $650 every 15 months. I will never buy from either Costco or Philips again!
