I am a college student paying tuition and books out of pocket. My job is working remote as a training manager for hotel call centers. When buying my sister a gift at the Town East location last July the store clerk offered a discount if I provided my email for a Rewards Membership. Wow - great marketing! Fast forward to today I realize they have charged me $11.99 per month. I check my emails, no receipts or statements of the transactions. I call the support line and spoke to an agent by the name of Serena/Selena and explain that I haven't even used the membership since the first purchase!
Agent Selena/Serena, scoring big points on her calibration grade, tried to sell me the membership I was blinding paying for. It took my knowledge of call center operations to finally get a refund of the last month. I hope her call is reviewed and a training opportunity is sent for conversation collision. As far as the storefront goes, do not trust the employees. They probably get an incentive so of course the fee is left in the fine print. I could have bought my Marketing Fundamentals textbook with the profit they made from me. You have been warned my friends.

I shop at f.y.e. maybe once a year. When I checked out cashier asked if I wanted a rewards card. I asked what it was and she said it was free and like a supermarket card. I said okay and ended up with a 11.99 charge a month later on my charge card. What a dirty way of stealing from people. Beware of shopping there. I won't ever shop there again and will tell everyone I know about this.

I have major issues with this order and needless to say I will absolutely never do business with the company again as result. My order was split in two shipments, one on tracking was sent back to f.y.e. as delivered god knows why. The other has been sitting on USPS accepted since the day after I put in the order. ALSO I never received a refund for the item that was out of stock on my order. I need a refund for the canceled item. I need either a refund for the shipment sent back to you or that order reconciled. And I need an explanation as to why the second shipment is still sitting in accepted. Ordering gifts on Cyber Monday and after Christmas still fighting your "customer service" for resolution.

My wife stopped in to pick up a couple of movies for Christmas. A simple purchase, right? Should be uneventful. At the register she was asked if she wanted to sign up for the rewards program. She declined. The woman persisted. She declined. The woman said, "Oh, it's free; it's like a Kroger card." BS. In trust, she finally just says fine so she can leave the store. The next thing she knows, my wife was signed up for some subscription rewards plan at FYE with a $12 monthly fee? No. She called customer service to cancel and was given some BS about 10-50% off going to the movies, eating out, shopping if we just send in our receipts?
She was FINALLY able to get out of it, thankfully. This is absolutely DETESTABLE business practice. Their business model is to sucker people into a monthly payment plan and live off the passive income... Must be some incentive for employees to push the program... For everyone that figures out a way to cancel, two won't notice the money is coming out every month. It makes me sick. I will NEVER shop at FYE again and will bring this experience up any chance I get.

I wanted to order a 6 in 1 turntable from this shop, and though it was considerably more expensive than other sites, I thought I'd give it a try. It turns out, at checkout, that the shipping cost for the $120 turntable was $112! After researching, I discovered that they ship $5 per pound, which is atrocious for some of their heavier items. All things considered, there are a million other places you can buy items like these, with half the concern and cost.

I NEVER write reviews, even when I have bad experiences, but this one is just getting out of control. I go into F.Y.E to buy a little $6 keychain and the cashier is a little pushy about getting me to sign up for the backstage pass. I agree to sign up because it's free, and because I work in customer service and know signing up people helps the employee out as well.
Like everyone else here, I forget all about it and end up getting charged $12 a couple of months later. I try to log into my Backstage Pass account but for some reason the site wouldn't find my account so I end up emailing customer service to cancel my account. They respond to me very quickly, cancel my account, and refund me the $12. I was very grateful for this.
FAST FORWARD TO TODAY, I check my account, and see an odd charge for $23 from a company I don't recognize. I google the phone number from the charge, and I pull up a page where people are saying thats it's not F.Y.E. but a magazine company linked to the backstage pass. I go to a link someone mentioned, and cancel the magazine subscription there.
I am so annoyed because I had to go out of my way to cancel all of these charges popping up. It's really unfortunate that they don't tell you what you're ACTUALLY getting into when you sign up for this pass. It's not the cashier's fault, heck, it's probably not the manager's fault either. The company is being greedy when it doesn't have to be. I love F.Y.E because it has exclusive items that other stores don't have, but how can it compete when it is low key scamming its customers like this? I'm sorry but I will never shop at F.Y.E again until this pass is gone.

Cashier asked if I wanted to sign up for free rewards card. I have a rewards card for almost every store and thought nothing of it. After I signed up the cashier said I could cancel in 30 days. Red flags! Then she tried to get me to sign up for free magazines. I questioned this, as they were expensive magazines. She said, "Well, free for 3 months then you pay for the subscription." I told her no. I immediately went home and tried to cancel, the call center is in India and was told I can't cancel. She said it was because I was a new member. Working on canceling now and will cancel debit card. The cost is $12.00 a month for this membership! Say no, no, no and only use cash when paying at FYE!

On October 14, 2018, I placed an order for a tote bag. I selected and paid $15 for expedited shipping. I was never informed that this product was not in stock. Instead, FYE indicated that this would arrive by October 21, 2018 if I selected expedited shipping. As of today, nothing has even shipped. I have contacted FYE on several occasions asking when this will ship. They cannot provide me any confirmation on when this will ship. Therefore I asked for the order to be cancelled. They said they cannot cancel but I can request a refund after this ships and I send it back. If I go this route, I will be out for the $15 expedited shipping plus the return shipping. This is false advertising. FYE should state that this product is not in stock. Additionally, they should not provide a date it will be received by if you pay for expedited shipping.

Just re-sends the link to their shipment order timeline page. I paid for expediting, right now I've no goods, paid for services, and cannot get a person to respond to me! I tried to complain via BBB, but I am not sure how to point it to an online store. This is just beyond frustrating. I'm a young kid, I don't have money to burn. I just wanted to get something cool and nice, I wanted to have a cool Halloween.

Check your credit card statement. They list the cancellation number in the detail information. They won’t do a refund and it’s your word against theirs. They apparently explained everything about the charges when I signed up... with a growing checkout line. Store owners are used to angry calls... just part of the job. Good luck trying to get a back payment... I tried, they wouldn’t work with me even though I never used the benefit card that probably went out in the trash with my purchase receipt.

So annoyingly enough they sign you up for a magazine subscription that once again I was never told about and they make the cancellation process drawn out and I believe something needs to be done. I don’t know if you need to train your staff to explain all the charges and what the membership really is instead of getting as many people to sign up as possible and not telling them all the major details like, "I don’t know we sign you up for things you don’t want and charge you twice for a fee you didn’t know about."

I got the backstage pass because my cashier insisted I get it but never told me it charges every so often, not even once a month. Just random. And I called to cancel it back in December because I saw that it started charging me. They WOULD NOT let me cancel my account. They kept insisting that I keep it and they even lowered the price so I would keep it and I kept telling them that I just wanted it canceled and then the guy promised me that after the payment went through in January I’ll never be charged again. It’s now end of August and I got on my bank account and noticed that I got charged again. So I called as soon as I could to see what was up.
Again the same thing. The lady was insisting as hard as she could that I keep it and asked me for my reasoning for canceling and I said that I wanted it canceled because I never go shopping there and I was never informed that I would get charged. She then basically told me that they aren’t letting people canceling their membership because they are “on a tight budget”. So after a good 20 mins with repeating myself that I wanted it canceled she finally “canceled” it for me. Now I don’t know if it’s true because that’s what the first guy told me when I first tried to cancel. So def do not get the membership unless you want to be scammed.

I was totally scammed by f.y.e... when checking out I was offered a 10% discount on that day's purchase and discounts on many things and places listed on the brochure. At that time I never picked out or purchased any magazines... just the CD I bought. After getting home I looked at the brochure and realized that I would never use the backstage pass discount card and immediately called and cancelled it. I cancelled it the 30th of May and figured I had taken care of it. When I went online to check my credit card account the 3rd of July I find a charge for $83.50 for magazines.
I immediately called my credit card company and disputed the charges... after realizing that I had not used my card for any purchases with automatic billing I traced it back to FYE. Upon calling them they put me through 3 different people who told me that it would be investigated and my money refunded. I still don't have my money back as of today...called FYE and was given another number to call for magazine information...Guess what. NO RECORD of them ever billing my credit card. At this point I am furious and will not rest till I get my money back.

Then they automatically sign you up for a magazine subscription that you have to cancel separately from the backstage pass (which they never mentioned). The employee in the store flat out lied to me about this and when I contacted customer service they said they had nothing to do with the magazines. FYE Backstage Pass - I am amazed at how many people have been deceived by that 10% discount they offer at this company. Had I just said no...then I wouldn't have been on the phone today demanding back the $144 they took out of my account. It slipped by for over a year and I cannot believe I didn't notice until just last month. Guess I looked at the right time. The employees are taught to lie and that's a BAD way to do business. Eventually FYE will have none if this keeps up.

I walked into my local FYE and was asked if I wanted to sign up for a free trial. I was told it would grant me 10% off on my purchases in the store in the future if I created an account, so I did. What they didn't tell me was that they charge you at random for the FYE VIP membership even if you never asked for it. I created my account with FYE over 2 months ago and I randomly got a $11.99 Fee for this "membership" that I never signed up for.
After realizing I had been blatantly stolen from, I followed the charge back to its origin and found out that FYE has a common practice of doing this to their customers who create accounts, you're automatically entered into a "free trial period" which then if you don't cancel (and you won't because you weren't informed about it costing money) they'll randomly charge your card you used at the local store a membership fee. I had made a $16 purchase back in April over 2 months ago, yet I was not charged in the following month of May, but randomly charged the $11.99 Membership Fee that I did not sign up for, on June 18th for no reason.
I'm confused why these FYE scammers are allowed to do business. Why are people allowed to backstab their customers by ** them into "hey if you create an account with us, you'll get 10% off all purchases in the future!" when the truth is, the moment you say "Okay!" they add you onto the trial membership and charge your card you use on a monthly basis without your consent, this is fraud and should be vetted out thoroughly and all money stolen from customers should be returned. For your own privacy and money, don't do business with these ** artists.

This is the first bad review I have ever written in my life :(. I’m sorry. I feel kinda guilty about writing a bad review but I’m not going to be mean. I will be nice :). Fye backstage pass took advantage of a girl like me. Checking out at fye I thought I was getting a rewards card. The clerk never told me it was a free trial and I would actually get charged! I was rushed through it all. Never told any info about how my card was being sent out to these two companies and the next few days I have these weird charges for these magazines and stuff!
Getting this was super easy getting rid of this and I the charges was really hard. The person first on the phone lied and said I wasn’t charged and then tried to trick me into keeping it but I was strong and I told him no! I don’t want the charge. I don’t want this. This is the most slimy deceiving thing! Young people mostly shop at fye and the goal for this is tricking people into thinking it’s a rewards card rushing them to sign and then taking their money and then when you call they will do anything to keep the money and then confuse you.
Fye I swear to goodness this is the most greedy thing ever, you never told me this was going to happen! I thought it was a rewards card! Fye shame on you! My first time being burned by FYE was around six years ago when I attempted to preorder a deluxe edition of Mass Effect 3 before it came out when no other companies had any left in stock. FYE said they did and processed my preorder without issue. When the game came out, however, I didn't receive my copy of the game and I wasn't informed of any issue with the order until a WEEK after the game had been released. Recently, however, they definitely outdid themselves. I went into a store at Florence Mall in Kentucky and purchased a few CDs from their store for my car. While I was there, the cashier offered me an opportunity to join the FYE Backstage Pass VIP program that they have there where I could receive special offers and free magazine subscriptions with my membership. The cashier told me it was a one time charge and would cancel automatically if I didn't renew the membership.
I later realized that I was being charged $12 a month for my backstage pass on top of the four magazine subscriptions that I had been signed up for. When I went to cancel my magazine subscriptions, I was unable to do it through the magazine providers themselves. The only way I was able to cancel them was by calling an automated system on my phone and painfully making my way through the channels to cancel my magazines. For every magazine, before it would let me cancel it, I had to sit and listen to the endless amount of shady deals they tried to offer me to avoid me canceling my subscriptions. Many of the deals were unclear where it stated I would receive a "full refund" and "cancel my current term" but then tacked on that I would pay "2 to 3 dollars a month" for the next year. After I eventually canceled my magazines, I had to call ANOTHER number to cancel my backstage pass membership.
When I called customer service, I immediately stated that I wanted to cancel my membership and a refund for my previous charges that I was not informed of. The representative then went on to try to sell me on gift cards and some kind of movie deals that I was "entitled to" and when he ended his spiel he asked me if I was going to look at those and confused I said "okay?" to which he tried to end the call without doing EITHER of the things that I asked him to and said I would continue being charged 11.99 a month. I had to cut him off to get him to cancel it and he still didn't even attempt to help me with a refund. I was so annoyed by the end of it that I knew I wouldn't be helped further and just hung up. I will never go to FYE for anything that I can get somewhere else again.

Backstage Pass VIP membership and indicated that I will save up to 10% on my transaction. I said yes, after I was done signing. He then mentioned that I had 30 days to cancel before the trial ends! That's when I knew that I was deceived! I get out of the store, and I quickly called to canceled. The lady who answer was quick to accept that I needed to cancel the f.y.e. membership. Then I read some of the reviews below. It appears that they also sign you up for a f.y.e. magazine subscription?
I emailed service@fyevip.com to ask if this is true. The representative only emailed me back that the f.y.e. I wish I could give them 0 stars honestly. I was in the store a while ago around the beginning of January browsing for a record to buy as a gift. The record was kind of expensive but I decided to get it anyway. It was right before closing time as there was a "snow storm" and the employees were rushing the customers out so I went up to the counter to pay. The cashier rushed through my purchase and asks "do you want to sign up for this discount card, it will save you 10%" and I thought sure, why not - this is an expensive item to begin with. She did NOT explain it was a "free 30 day trial" to their ridiculous membership. She did NOT mention I would later be charged 11.99$ if I didn't log on and cancel my "subscription" before the 30 days were up.
I find it hard to believe this cashier had time to sign me up for a membership when they were minutes from closing but did not have the time to explain it would cost me a membership fee! I'm not sure if they require their employees to disclose this, or if they just assume everyone reads the fine print on their pamphlets while in line, being rushed out by other employees... I just looked at my monthly bank statement today and saw that 11,99$ fee and was so confused by it.
I literally had to Google what "FYE BACKSTAGE PASS" was because I was positive I didn't make that charge. When I got on the phone with the customer service rep he took at least 5 minutes rambling on about keeping the membership and reducing it to like 4.95$, saying I can use it towards 3D movies or restaurants or something. Couldn't understand the guy. When I told him I just wanted to CANCEL my membership, he tried to tell me he was going to reduce it and is there anything else he could help me with. This company is such a scam and I will never be shopping there again.

As with most customers I assumed this would be a program to track purchases and rack up points etc. The guy waits until at the end of ringing me up to inform me that it's $12.00 a month, after seeing I was not pleased he proceeds to tell me I have a month cancel and it can easily be done online with a couple clicks.
So after looking into it you create an account with f.y.e. online then click "cancel subscription". What I don't understand is why when you click cancel online it says "We are processing your cancellation request" then to receive an email saying the same thing and to expect a final cancellation confirmation within 48 hrs just to receive a second email saying I will receive another final confirmation within 48 hrs and that was 4 days ago... I ordered five of the dog banks back in August 2017, and I was given a response as a “thank you for your order” via messenger and email! My order supposedly shipped about a month later, But I never received the items. I left numerous emails, and tried calling, with no avail, since the company is not accepting phone calls and the website seems to be down. Interesting. I am furious because I am not made of money, and these banks were for my grandchildren. I requested my money to even be sent back to me if they could not fulfill my order. The customer care or customer service does not return emails either!
So right now, I am out of about $110 of hard earned money. This company is a scam and I hope they get what’s coming to them! How can people run a business or work for a company when they know they are scamming people out there? I believe in karma, and even though I will never see my money for the items that I ordered, for those working there, I assume they evidently do not have a conscience and will get what they deserve!! Shame on you!

I signed up for a free trial of FYE's backstage pass and the cashier told me I had to select some magazines to get a free issue of. There was a long line and my eyesight is bad so if there was any fine print I was not able to see it. Anyway, They apparently signed me up for a year subscription for time and people magazine for a total cost of $108.00. I called FYE's backstage pass service line and was told I had to call a third party. I was sent to an automated line that had no discernible option to get a refund on the amount that was already charged to me. I then had to track down the customer service line for people magazine who could not help me but advised me to call 1-877-813-0320 and then press 0 to speak to a live representative.
The rep for the magazine company was very helpful and has promised to process a refund that will show up within 3 days. While the magazine company itself wasn't necessarily the problem, FYE essentially scammed me out of what for me is a whole week of pay! The whole process of being assured a refund took me hours and many tears (because I am financially incapable of paying $108.00 on magazines and I was very frustrated too). I will never shop at FYE again and I will discourage my friends from shopping there too. I am considering returning any recent purchases and buying the same items from a more trustworthy business instead.

Lo and behold, my credit card starting getting charged a membership fee and magazine subscriptions, which were not authorized. It didn't happen just to my daughter. It has happen to some of her friends too, and the moms had to get involve to get their money back. I tried getting it disputed a number of times with Amex but my name was not connected to the FYE account. To use the pass in the store you need a card I never got and the card and the pass and credit info for my Amex was under my husband's name (different last name than mine) who never goes there. I got a cancellation #. I would love to recover a good deal of money but now all I want to do is make sure that it goes away for good. I didn't expect my card to be charged like that but it taught me a lesson to read the fine print especially on a card I don't use that costs $12 a month and $9 to cancel. They don't tell you THAT in the store. I'm not mad at F.Y.E, I would probably even go back, but save yourself some stress and don't buy the pass unless you are 110% sure you will use it. FYE/TME magazine subscription promotion. Purchased items December 2016 at FYE in Jacksonville, FL. I was offered the FYE Pass as a way to save money. I was told there was a $11.99 monthly charge after the one (1) month trial period but the store ensured me they would call to remind me to cancel it a few days in advance. They did, however I missed the call and never listen to the message until after I was charged. No complaints in that regard because they did call me as the implied at point of sale.
My issue is with the 5 monthly magazines that I supposedly signed up for. I am constantly being charged between $2 and $24.50 for magazines I would never buy. I have called several times to cancel them but it's an automated system and I swear to you that even she has an attitude, lol. The automated system continually tries to get you to keep the subscription. No, I want out. I have had to do it for all 5 subscriptions. When I canceled the first one I wasn't even aware of the other 4 and the system definitely does not provide you the option to cancel everything at once. Within 3 months, I have been charged over $100 for this mess. I was excited to save money at FYE that day for WWE items that my son wanted for Christmas but at this rate I could have purchased him a authentic WWE belt. So upset with this BS.
Not happy with FYE's lack of communication regarding the magazines. As the saying goes, nothing in life is free and this my friend is definitely something that is not free. I am canceling the debit card associated with these transactions and will tell my bank to refuse anything from them in the future. FYE now stands for "F You Entirely."

In November 2016 I purchased something from this company. The cashier asked me if I wanted to sign up for their FYE VIP membership. I asked him if it cost anything and he said "There is no fee, it just gives you some perks." Well, I've worked in retail before so I know many times they'll have a goal for this sort of thing. I never shop here but I figured that it's free, so I'll just sign up to be nice. I paid for my purchase with my credit card and left. So now, in March 2017, I checked my bank statement (linked to the credit card I used at FYE). I noticed a charge I hadn't seen before labeled FYE VIP Backstage Pass. So I google it and I realize what it is. Except I NEVER agreed to pay any money for this, and I certainly did NOT give them my credit card number for this purpose. I google it some more, and I find out that I am not NEARLY the only person this has happened to.
So I call their customer service, and I wait 10 minutes for someone to answer. I explained to the gentleman immediately what happened. I tell him that I never agreed to this paid membership, and that they used my credit card for this purpose without my permission. He tried explaining to me what the VIP membership was, and that he would send me the details via mail. I told him that I don't care what the membership entails, as I never agreed to it. I told him that I wanted to cancel immediately and receive a full refund.
So then we went through the ridiculous song and dance. He told me he would cancel, I told him I wanted to cancel AND get a full refund. He tried explaining to me, "Due to the terms and conditions of your membership..." I said I don't care about the terms and conditions as I never agreed to them, my credit card was used without my permission, and I demand a full refund. We went back and forth on this point a couple more times, and he finally said that he would refund me $11.99. I said to him, "You have been charging me for a membership that I never agreed to pay for, and you have been using my credit card illegally when I never gave you permission to use it for this purpose, and you think I'm going to be okay with just a refund of one month?"
He tries spouting some other nonsense, but I couldn't listen to it. He was obviously just reading from some script he has to read from. I told him to please stop with the bullcrap speeches and just give me my full refund. I honestly felt a little bad for him because he must have to deal with angry customers all the time, every day. FINALLY he told me he would refund me the full amount of $35.97. It seems like a lot to go through for such a small amount, but the thing is that they charged me this by deceiving me into signing up for something they told me was free, and then taking my credit card number that I used to purchase my items and using it for the membership (which I NEVER agreed to).
I got a cancellation number, so I will be monitoring my bank account closely to make the amount is refunded and nothing else is taken out, and if I see anything I will be sure to call back. I am not going to let this go until I get my full refund and never see another charge from them. NEVER purchase from this company. I have even seen reviews that cashiers will sign customers up who don't even agree to the "free" membership. This company has some highly fraudulent business practices and I sincerely hope that they receive their just dues.

He then told me I had to sign for my credit card purchase. I asked him if my personal information from the free membership would be shared and he said no. Several days later, I get an email welcoming me to their club and telling me I would be charged 11.99 for my membership. I call the store and they tell me I have to call customer service. I call customer service and they tell me I have to go into the store and I have to call the magazines to cancel. I thought to myself: What magazines?
I call the store manager, who was very rude and laughed at me, and he said he would email his boss who would call me. That never happened. I find out the cashier signed me up for a year subscription to People, Time, and get this - Playboy. That is part of the VIP membership - you also have to pay for these magazines for a whole year. They share your credit card information not only with their billing department but they give it, along with your address, and zip code to the magazines. Now, the magazine companies were very easy to cancel with but FYE still has not responded to me and I have had to file a BBB complaint. There are a few other companies listed in my complaint, but they are not the primary reason for my review. My husband purchased a record from FYE as my Christmas gift. Nearly nine months later, today, he checked our bank account to discover that we had been charged $17.50 for an ESPN magazine they had solicited to him. He was agitated and told me that when he was rung up, he declined the offer of the magazine and the cashier then told him it was a "requirement" for him to be able to purchase the record.
Then my husband asked a manager to which the manager confirmed this "requirement." My husband vehemently denies ever receiving any terms of conditions or billing information on this transaction at the time of purchase and told that it was a free trial. He said that it was not explained to him in any manner that he needed to call and cancel after any given time period, nor that he would be automatically charged at any time. My husband did not sign anything, handed the cashier our debit card, paid for record, and left.
So, after seeing the charge on our account today he immediately called ESPN to cancel the subscription and request our refund. Had he received this information, we would have promptly called because he did not want the product to begin with. While he was on the phone with ESPN he confirmed with them that the money from our account had been directly debited, by their company. FYE and the TME promotion company which pushed the sale through FYE did not receive the $17.50.
While he was making those calls, I wanted to call and inform FYE of this issue and hopefully prevent any further customers from having this product pushed on them. The cashier picked up the phone and the very first thing I said to him was that I had an issue, I wanted to inform them of and I wanted to make sure he had a few moments to speak to me, which he confirmed. I explained to him my problem, and stressed to him that I am aware that none of transaction was his personal fault. The cashier was understanding and explained to me that his bosses pressure them to promote these magazines at the threat of being fired.
Then as I continued explaining to him how my husband did not want the subscription to begin with he became short tempered with me and said my husband approved the subscription when he, "Pushed the green ok button." I got defensive and said, "Are you telling me that this is our fault, as the customer?" At which point he handed the phone to his assistant manager, Sam.
Sam did not speak as he listened to my explanation, however, he did offer me his short burst sighs of exasperation as acknowledgement. When I finished he was quiet, so at this point I continued by telling him that I did not appreciate their tone with me. To which he replied, "I just got on the phone, I haven't said anything to have a tone." I said, "Well, your 'tsking' in the background is a tone, and I don't appreciate it. All I want to do is inform your store of what is going on with these magazines and if people are getting unauthorized charges someone needs to know about it." He got snarky with me and said that I am welcome to have his bosses number, and the district manager's number. At that point I finally had enough, and I said, "I am from California but I was raised in this area and I do not care for your store, and I don't appreciate..." At that point Sam hung up on me.
I checked the internet for a customer service number and could not find one. I had my husband call them back because I wanted to call corporate. Well, my husband got off the phone and said that Sam told him that by company policy they are not "obligated" to give out the corporate office number and gave him another number to his "boss." Well what Sam did not know, was that my husband had already called that number, and that was the number of the TME corporation I mentioned earlier. We received no apology, no attempt to assess and remedy our situation, and definitely no understanding. It was at that point I decided I would write consumer reviews. I want to inform other customers of how we were treated from FYE in Altoona Pennsylvania.

I would like to say that I am incredibly displeased with FYE's CD printing services. I paid $15.00 to have Ben Folds' "So There" printed and got a sorry excuse for a CD. A low quality printer vomited out a grainy picture that was used as the front artwork of the box, and there was no artwork printed on the disk itself, just a line of text stating the artist's and album's names. The box itself was extremely cheap, something that you would put a mixtape CD in.
I really should mention that they make you pay for the CD BEFORE you get to see the product, so you don't even get to see what your final product will look like before receiving it. I called them the next day asking about a refund and they said that they typically wouldn't do refunds, but that they were feeling nice today. If you want a new or obscure album and they are not carrying it at the moment, you are far better off just ordering a physical copy of of Amazon, or simply going on iTunes to download the files from your home. First off, FYE is a great store, gives you good prices for trade-ins and gives several opportunities to save you money. This includes the membership card that they offer. There are two different kinds: the Back Stage Pass and the VIP. The BSP is a 25$ card that you pay for at the register and it lasts for the entire year. Every time you use it, you get 10% off on your purchase and 20% off during your birth week (This is the card that I have because it is a better deal for my needs).
The VIP is free for the first month, and after that it goes to $11.99. This card gives you the same deals as the BSP, plus has several different uses online for coupons, gift cards and other things to save you money. This card is great if you want to save 10% on your purchase (or 20% if it's your birth week) then cancel it before the month is over. However, the only way to cancel the card (and I'm talking specifically to the people who have emailed FYE or called the store) is to do it online at FYE's website, which is the easiest approach, or call the number on the back of the packet that is given to you after you sign up for it. And if you get mad when they tell you that, you need to take a chill pill, because there really is nothing they can do about it. It's your card, has your name on it, so it is your job to cancel it. It is so easy, I can bet a monkey could learn how to do it.
Now, on to the people who really irritate me. The people who claim that they "did not consent to the card". Well guess what, if you didn't consent to it, then you wouldn't have it. Every employee is required to tell you that the card is free for the first month but will charge you $11.99 once that month is over. They are also required to tell you just what the card with get you and explain how to cancel it.
After this point, if the customer says yes, they are signed up for it right there. They will be asked their name, number, address and email, plus their birth date. Once this is finished, the computer automatically takes 10% off of the overall purchase and once the transaction is over, prints off a receipt for the VIP card that gives you all of the information on what you just signed up for, then makes you sign it at the bottom. The card is only truly activated once the receipt that you signed is sent into corporate.
So, to the lady who is mad that there was a charge on her husband’s card and that "he didn't consent to it". First of all, your husband needs to man up and deal with it himself instead of having his wife deal with it for him, and secondly, he did in fact sign up for it. When he stood at the checkout and had his items scanned, an employee told him all about the card, including the $11.99 charge after the free month, he said "yeah" "sure" or something to that degree, he gave them his name, number, address, email and birth date, then he signed a receipt specifically consenting that the employee told him everything about the card. He understands what it entails, and if he doesn't cancel it before the first month is over, he will be charged. So basically, your husband is an idiot.

FYE owes me $70 and has done nothing to fix the issue. I will never go to FYE again and will advise others to do the same.

My husband made a purchase with FYE back in May 2015. He's also made several purchases prior to this. Today I discovered the $11.99 charge on my account. I can guarantee, and speak for him, when I say that he did not agree to any consent of joining anything with them, considering how much of a stickler I am with money. I check my bank account several times a day. So when I discovered this charge, knowing full well that we never made that purchase, I called my bank. I also googled the exact name on the charged as to find any answers. My bank gave me the number to call, to have this cancelled and reimbursed. The phone number is 1-877-351-2131. I spoke with a customer service agent, named Scott, (from his accent, I will assume that this isn't his "real name") I told him, specifically I want no part of this membership, to cancel this, and I want a full refund of $11.99.
He told me that due to the agreement and the discounted purchase, that I wasn't able to receive the $11.99 back. That's when I got a bit more agitated and put my foot down with extremely aggressive words and phrases. I more or less demanded the refund, and that we did not sign up for this, free-trial or no free trial, it was never used. I don't even know what the membership is for. He said, "ok, let's keep this professional" and that I would be getting my refund in 5-7 business cycles. I said, "if you are lying to me and I do not receive my refund promptly, I will be extremely angry and will be taking this further." This isn't the first time either that FYE has automatically signed us up for things we didn't agree too.
Almost a year ago, I discovered magazine charges, which were taken care of and refunded in full, with the magazine companies. This again, was through purchases made at FYE. I know in the past, that depending on the brand of purchase you make it can come with a free magazine subscription, which they don't tell you about, and why the hell am I getting all these magazines? But from past experience, when the subscription was up, I would get a letter asking if I wanted to continue the subscription. NOT getting automatically charged for something I didn't agree to. I will never shop at FYE ever again, and if I do, it will be strictly with cash. Should I want a CD, I will purchase it from Amazon or iTunes. Never again, FYE, never again!

I was able to track down the charges on my credit card for the PAST 4 YEARS from this company. I didn't even know what company was because of the cryptic listing on my credit card bill. They should have their customer service number on there like many other service companies list on credit card statements. However, being that this company is a scam, I can see why they don't. Like the many other complaints on this company I do not remember signing up for this program nor was I told that I needed to call and cancel within 30 days. They have taken over $575.32 from me. I called and was able to get a year's refund but that is still only 25% of what was taken without my consent. I wish I could take legal recourse with them. If anyone is going in on a class action lawsuit let me know.

On April the 6th 2015, I purchased a 2 vinyl set of a new album which was suppose to include a bonus DVD (per the description). I purchased this item as a gift for a friend's birthday which was on the 13th (Monday) of April. Because the date was so close I paid for express shipping. I received the item on the 10th (Friday). I was able to give the gift to my friend on the 14th (Tuesday). After opening the package there was no additional media other than the 2 vinyls. I contacted FYE via email (customerservice@fye.com) which they allow for a 2 business day turn around and do not have a phone number for customer service.
I received a response from them on the 16th, advising they would reship the order and to return the old one. In the original notification of the problem, I advised them that it was a gift for a friend's birthday. And reiterated this in my response in appreciation for promptly handling my issue. They insisted on having the original merchandise as they were going to reship the entire package not just the bonus DVD. I received the new item on the 21st of April still missing the bonus DVD. I contacted them once again. This time they responded for me to ship both items back with a label they provided and they would issue a full refund $65.22. I asked if I could just keep one and get a refund for the money I paid for express shipping $10.54. They refused my proposal. I responded for them to contact me by phone as I was tired of playing email tag, having to wait 48hrs for a response to every email I sent.
Have not been contacted any further. I found it extremely embarrassing they wanted me to ask my friend for the items back that I gave as a gift. I found it ridiculous having to wait 48hrs for a response to every email. I found it to be poor customer service not to offer any type of monetary compensation and denying my reasonable offer to be horrible practice. This was the first/last time I will do business with FYE.com.

So I got hooked into signing up for FYE's backstage pass program and was told that I would not be charged till after "the free trial" was over. The charge would be $11.99. When you sign up for their membership, they make you choose 3 magazines. I declined signing up for the magazines, and the lady told me I would not be charged for magazines, I'd just have the Backstage Membership offered. I cancelled just before the "free trial" was over and then a few days later noticed a $66 charge on my card. The charge was done by a magazine company. I called FYE about this, and the lady said "I'm sorry we are not responsible for this. We only handle memberships and not magazines." I told her that FYE signed me up for the magazine subscriptions with my info and card WITHOUT MY PERMISSION and she kept repeating her line.
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FYE!!! The magazine company is fine, they helped me clear up the charge after a phone call, but do not do anything with FYE! They do not care about their customers and only want money. THAT IS IT! Terrible company! It took me 2 hrs to resolve this issue and 8 phone calls. Please SAVE YOURSELVES THE TROUBLE! AND DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM! FYE needs to go out of business already, SCAMMERS. IF this happened to you, please do not call FYE, they won't help you. If you got charged for magazines from People or Time, instead call 1(877)813-0320 and press 0 for a customer service rep or you'll get their automated voice messenger system, and they'll help you out right away! I got my $66 refund in 24 hrs.

I bought some DVD's at FYE and recently found that they have been deducting $11.99 since Feb 2014 as well as this March. I want to find out what number can I call because I am currently in the Philippines.

First.. I have no idea who F.Y.E. is. Today we received a letter in the mail addressed to my wife with the subject on the envelope of 'Payment Due Notice'. Opening and reading it tells us they tried to process a payment for our 'membership' and were unable to collect the funds.. thank goodness. Since they couldn't automatically charge any account, they ask us to fill out the attached page with our account number and send it back so they could charge our account and activate our $11.99 / month billing for ...what? Think how many of us 'older' folks would just put all the info on the sheet and mail it back without questioning it? Just a heads up. Next place to hear will WGAL TV 8's "On Your Side". They usually do a follow-up and a visit to jerks like this.

On 2/21 I went to the Waterbury FYE hoping to trade around 14 dvds, that when I left my house were all fine with very minimal wear. A girl began to inspect my dvds, when a man told her he would check them. I turned to talk to my friend while the dvds were being checked. When the guy was done all but 2 were acceptable, the 2 the girl had inspected. When I got home and rechecked my dvds they were all scratched and one was even cracked, a far cry from what I had seen just a few hours earlier. I asked to be paid the trade in value for the dvds, since they are now unusable or able to be traded in anywhere else. I was told no and to never step foot in any of their stores again. So yea, I had my property destroyed by an employee and I get banned. Myself and anyone I know will never go there again.

I bought 2 Cirka PS3 controllers, those do not work well when playing online games. I decided to return those when I received a notice at FYE store that open box can't be refundable. I could get another product or same ones. Well the girl that I bought with told me that those are refundable in any case, surprisingly wasn't true. The receipt (that I read when trying to get refund) was clear, "no refund in open box". What FYE does is like that they put merchandise for sale, if works or not is not they responsibility, it is the manufacturing and you have to deal with them, not FYE. Do you buy a car without test drive? Do you buy Pants without try? Glad that FYE don't have those for sale.

My older brother is disabled, and buying movies makes him happy. He loved FYE, using his credit card for each and every purchase, but what he didn't realize was that FYE had signed him up for their Backstage Pass and was deducting $12.99 each month from his bank account. We only caught onto this when I used my credit card at the store to buy movies, and the sales associate not only on file but put the credit card under my brother's name. Once that $12.99 was deducted from my bank account, I called FYE with my brother right next to me, and we had to argue with the customer service representative that my brother did not sign up for a Backstage Pass account.
The next day, I went right to my bank and explained the whole thing to them. The $12.99 charge was returned to my bank account, and my father later took my brother in to resolve this issue as well. I am so disgusted at FYE for taking advantage of a disabled individual. They saw the opportunity to profit off him, and they did until they made the mistake of touching my bank account! They should be ashamed of themselves, and nobody, nobody should ever use their credit card at FYE!

I just had a very utterly unfortunate experience with a manager at your East Brunswick, NJ store. I went in with just 9 DVD's to do exchange/sell. Without even looking at the DVD's, I said, "Hi, can I exchange these or sell them?" The manager, I believe she was (I have the sales receipt if you need a reference), said to me, "Is there any ** particular reason you chose to come to the store at 9:15pm when we close in 15 minutes?" I did consider a bad day for her but there is no excuse for treating people that way. I am a human being, 40 years old. The manager could probably be my child, and she speaks to elders that way?
I wonder how many other people she does that to. I will say it's not the first time I had such an experience with her. One other time, I was asking questions about the used CD's pricing. She said, "It says it on the wall. Can't you see the sign or do I have to read it for you?" I am highly aggravated and offended. She looked at all the perfectly conditioned DVD's and seemed as if she purposely didn't take the DVD's. I, never in my whole life, was treated in such a manner. This must be the reason iTunes has over 200 million people shopping for music with them and not you! Horrendous! This is no way exaggerated. Thank you all for listening!

In December 2010, I made a purchase at an FYE retail store. The clerk convinced me to sign up for an FYE membership and explained that I could "check it out then call to cancel at anytime". I was under the impression that there would be an annual membership fee. Around March 2011, I decided to cancel the membership. But the FYE website did not provide any phone numbers or mailing addresses for contacting them for cancellation or any other purpose (except for issues of copyright infringement). At that time, I sent an email to FYE telling them to cancel my membership. I received no response but assumed that my membership had, in fact, been cancelled.
In June 2011, FYE began charging my credit card $11.99 per month. Continued attempts to contact FYE and have my membership cancelled have gone unanswered. The $11.99 monthly charges continue to be posted to my credit card. I am in the process of disputing those charges. My most recent email to FYE is pasted below. Despite these warnings, I've received no response from FYE. What can be done to stop the charges to my credit card and to stop FYE from continuing these questionable business practices? Thank you.

On 1/10/10, at 2:15pm, I went to this location to exchange a defective unit for an IPod which charges, plays the IPod and is also a digital clock. I advised that it was bought as a Christmas present and that my son just opened within the last week and it just stop working and I wanted it exchanged. The rep (not Jason at this time) advised that they may not have anymore. He is on his way back and I am on the phone advising my wife that we may have an issue about the exchange.
Somehow this rude and sarcastic rep gets involved. I over hear the original person tell Jason that they do not have any left. Jason tells the person to get the display model. He brings it back to Jason who is behind the counter; he puts it in the box of the defective unit I just brought back. I have to assume that he thought I was not aware of what was transpiring as he comes up to the counter where I was standing and proceeds to tell me, "Ok I have replaced this with a new unit and I should not have any problem."
I advised him he did not think he was going to try and pass off a display model that have been handle and played with by god knows how many people as new and that I wanted my money back and would go elsewhere. He asked for the Visa on which it was purchased on. I advised him that I did not buy this and do not shop at this store due to the issues I have had in the past with F.Y.E. and its employees and I was returning for the person who is at work. He advised me he could not give me a refund without the card. I advised any other store would refund me cash regardless of the manner in which the original purchase was made.
I mention Wal-Mart would do the refund ( I just did a refund there before going to F.Y.E. with no problem) and he became rude and sarcastic in stating Wal-Mart is not one of our stores. He is basically calling me an idiot as I am aware they are not. No matter what I said I was met with rude responses, “Sorry, sir, that’s company policy.” I would like to note that I happened to look at the side of the register not in plain view of the customers to see the store return policy covered up by DVDs that were being sold.
I moved them and while reading the hidden store policy, I advice if he is not aware that the store return policy is to be fully disclosed and in sight of the customers. Another customer at the other register stated that you know he is right in what he is saying and the store’s rep basically ignore her. When I advised that the manners in which refunds are given are not listed anywhere on the policy, he stated, “Sorry, Sir. Store policy and that is how I was trained.” Yet again another sarcastic response.
I was forced into having to either take the display model which was falsely advised of being new or now a store gift card. Why would I want a store gift card and do any further business after being treated in the manner I was. So first passing something off as new, covering up the store return policy and lastly I took the gift cards I did not want my wife to lose money. I was not even offered the display at a reduced rate and a gift card for the different just that it is new here you go, but then I get the receipt for the gift card where it is falsely stated that” "Original Transaction Information. No Receipt Provided For Returned Items.” Which he had the original receipt and never returned to me.
So three things: I must be strong armed in having to buy there again as I was not able to get a cash refund where it was approved for payment by the credit card company back in December and making me have to drive 25 miles one way back to the store so that I can be poorly handled again. In the past I have seen items marked up to be later listed as markdown sales items when it at the original prices. Their store prices are much higher than any other store in that area. I was insulted and basically treated as if I was a moron by telling something was new when it was a display model/used out of the box and out on the store floor and trying to pawn it off on me as new. The new unit was $43.19 new. Display should not be offered as new or sold at the new price. Forcing me to get a gift card and have to drive 25 miles one way back to a store I do not want to shop in again at $2.93 a gallon for gas where I could have taken the money and went to a different store and got my son another player so he would not be without.
