I shopped at FYE back in December to buy a shirt for my fiancé. At checkout, the employee offered 10% off if I gave my email. I said I don’t shop here and wasn’t interested, but he insisted it was just for emails — no charges, no subscription. I asked him multiple times if there were any fees, and he assured me there weren’t.
Last night, I checked my bank account and realized FYE has been charging me $12 a month ever since. I NEVER knowingly signed up for anything and absolutely did not authorize these charges. I was blatantly misled. I called customer service to cancel and will be filing complaints with the BBB and possibly the FTC. This kind of deceptive marketing is unacceptable and predatory. Do not give your email or agree to any offers at checkout — this is a scam disguised as a discount.

I thought I was signing up for a free store card, because my kids like to go into the shop in the mall. I was not informed that I would be paying $11.99 a month for the "Backstage Pass." I got exactly nothing in return for this monthly payment. But, as is often the case with these recurring fees, I kind of forgot about it and just kept being billed every month. Now I am trying to cancel it, but they can't find my membership. They keep asking me for my membership number, but I never received one. Now I have sent two emails and am now on a lengthy phone call. If I do not get this resolved, I will go straight to my bank. Do not sign up for this service: it is a waste of money and time. I actually don't think I will go back to FYE at all.

Visited FYE last month. I was told by the employee at the register that he would sign me up for their Backstage Pass, which was explained to me as a free loyalty program. 30 days later, I am being charged for a subscription that I was signed up for without my consent. In no way was I informed that I would be charged 11.99 per month for this program, and canceling required me to go online, create an account, and "activate membership" just to cancel.

As everyone else said, they ask if you want cashapp with their program and make ZERO mention of a monthly recurring fee. Very scummy and poor business. Will not be buying any more products there at all.

Ordered DVD from them, charged me shipping twice, once on the original invoice and then again two days later when it shipped on another charge with no invoice. Rip off! Bad company to do business with.

Convinced to get free bsp for 10% off, said I don't want to get charged monthly but cashier said it's free. Month later -11.99, they forged my signature saying I approved reoccurring charges on my cc.

Ordered something for pre order in September 23, never got updated as they rolled out, no tracking info provided, order doesn't appear in account, phone customer service is only for the membership or a recorded line telling you to email, nobody ever answers the emails, nobody in-store can tell you to do anything other than call the pre recorded line. Thankfully used PayPal and could request a refund there because this company is an absolute joke.

The cashier tricked a family member into signing up for the $11.99 per month membership. It went unnoticed for over a year. I was able to cancel it for him, but the company won't refund the stolen money.

I visited FYE recently and was convinced to sign up for the Backstage Pass after declining. I was informed that the membership was “free”. I got home only to realize that not only is the membership $11.99/month, but the “free” magazines would be automatically renewed. I originally turned down the magazine offer because I did not want to be charged, only to learn that my card information had been shared with the company. Once I called customer service to cancel, it was insisted that I keep the membership. I had to tell the person that I spoke to 5 times that I wanted to cancel regardless of the promotions they were offering.
I was also told that if I canceled early I would lose access to the benefits. Except once I finally convinced the person that I’d be cancelling, I was informed that I’d still have access to the benefits until my membership expired. False information is being provided to customers and the company attempts to make it difficult to cancel.

They push a "free" rewards program in the store but it's ACTUALLY a subscription service for 12/month. No paperwork you receive at the time of signing up states there is a charge. You don't sign anything stating you'll be charged. They pull all your credit information from your purchase without telling you. Scam. Scam. Scam.

I recently noticed recurring charges on my account from FYE since December. I visited this store right before the holidays, purchased a gift and was asked to sign up for a membership. I declined, they pushed nicely and said it’s no charge and it accumulates points with more purchases. The main point here was that they reiterated that it’s free. I accepted and now I come to find out it’s a recurring charge of $11.99 that occurs every month. The store has performance metrics to meet but that leads to a dishonest business practice in which they withhold that this membership is only free for 1 month. I called and spoke to customer service and was told it was not possible to get reimbursed. Ultimately, I was successful in my request after politely informing the representative what happened. This appears to be a recurring theme with FYE.

It seems during the holidays people visiting their storefronts are told that backstage pass is 11.99 annually. This is incorrect, they will charge you monthly. People can understand 11.99 annually for 10% discount and other offers. GameStop gives people $5 coupons for their annual subscription. Keyword annual. It is nearly impossible to cancel the service after it is added. This violates almost every single category required by the FCC for electronic subscriptions. Besides the scam, the only way to get reasonable pricing on anything in the store is with their 10% off. F.Y.E. should not be around anymore.

If you shop at F.Y.E. Do not let the uneducated idiot sign you up for free magazine subscriptions. I did it to get 10% off, and immediately cancelled it when I got home, they still charged me. They suck.

I'm not sure why so many people say they signed up for the FYE backstage pass thinking it was totally free. I've had this membership off and on for years, and I've never had a problem with cancelling it BEFORE the 30 day FREE TRIAL period ended. I'm pretty sure you can even cancel online now if you don't want to speak to anyone. Even if you misunderstood the cashier, or he/she happen to tell you the wrong information (which I never had them tell me it was totally free forever), you received an information packet, on one of your receipt it explains the membership, AND you get a welcome email with more explanations of the free 30 day trial. More than enough information for you not to claim to be uninformed. Why would something like this be totally free?? Welcome to the real world, nothing is free, unless it was an earn points type of program...which this is not.

*CONSUMER WARNING* I thoroughly enjoy the store FYE. However, they have a fraudulent “rewards program” that you should be aware of. When cashing you out, they ask if you want to sign up for their rewards program, called Backstage Pass VIP, though they provide no information about it (some people have said they were told it was free, while others have said they were notified of a 10% discount; I was told neither of those). They then begin charging you $11.99 a month without ever notifying you of a monthly cost. (Incidentally, the benefit of this “rewards program” is just 10% off of your purchases as far as I can tell, which means you would need to spend $120 a month at FYE just to break even!!!)
We happened to catch it on our banking statement, so I did some research. It turns out, this is standard procedure for the company, at least according to various Consumer Affairs and Reddit message boards that I've come across. I called their Backstage Pass VIP customer service number, and when I complained and asked to cancel and be refunded, they responded with a scripted response offering to lower my payment to $6.99 a month, along with some other confusing benefits (that required my taking pictures of receipts of recent restaurant transactions). When I further pressed the issue, they put me on hold for a few minutes, and returned stating they were canceling, making no mention of a refund. After pressing further, they finally conceited and said they would refund up to four months (it had only been two, so that sufficed).
I should also note that after they quickly rattled off my cancelation confirmation number, she was "unable" to repeat it because she had closed out of the system and couldn't get back in. Others have stated they had to try numerous times to cancel. I took her employee number, whatever that is worth. Just be aware, if you ever shop at FYE, do NOT agree to sign up for Backstage Pass VIP program.

After doing research it seems as though I have the same problem as many others. Which simply proves the company does not care. I went in to purchase three $4 dragon ball z drinks. I used my debit card unfortunately and was asked if I wanted to sign up for a free membership program. Mind you I NEVER SHOP AT FYE, but since the membership was free I figured there was no harm in signing up. WRONG. Today I saw this FYE VIP charge on my statement and realized they had been charging me for a year! That's not what upset me most. When I called to cancel I got the good old avoiding canceling argument that scammers usually give subscribers. Of course no refund and of course I had to CALL AGAIN because they didn't cancel it! Terrible business practices and I see how they have clung to staying in business now. By scamming innocent customers! Will never do business there AGAIN!!

Please avoid making any purchases on the FYE website. My item was badly damaged when it arrived and I contacted their customer service right away. It says it may take up to 7 days for them to respond so I waited seven days but have not yet received any response. So I emailed them once again thinking that they may have missed my prior email. But I have not yet received any response from them yet. I called them even but was not able to reach the agent. I am so appalled by these terrible services and response time and I am actually terrified that they may just not respond to me for 30 days and not give me any refunds. This is really an alarm and tells me that I should stay away from making any purchases from the FYE.

Same story as a lot of people. I purchased a movie. Cashier told me about the VIP Rewards Program. No mention was made of there being a fee, especially not a monthly one. She just asked for my email and phone number. Some time later I discover they are changing me almost $12 a month. I never signed anything to authorize this. I called their number to dispute the charges. I finally got it canceled and a partial refund but it was a major hassle. First representative a spoke to just went silent causing me to give up after several minutes of 'are you there?' 'Can you hear me?', the second hung up on me.

It’s a shame. This store was cool. I enjoyed looking at all the things. But was not prepared to be accosted at the checkout. I was scammed into a paid membership to get “$1.00” off. It’s unforgivable they teach these college aged employees to lie, as I’m sure they pay a commission for it. Unfortunate.

I ordered the IZ*ONE Official Lightstick from this site because I struggled to find it elsewhere. Bear in mind, it's supposed to be about $35 brand new, but they were selling it for $70 (+shipping costs it came out to about $93)! Since I couldn't find "new" anywhere else, I decided to go with it. The site claims to give 1 Random Photograph of an IZ*ONE Member with every purchase, but I did not receive one. Not only that, but my lightstick came in damaged! It has scuff marks/scratches all over the surface! I emailed customer service and it was an automated email after automated email that just said to ship the item back without guarantee of a refund....What? You've got to be kidding me... PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE! IT'S A SCAM!!!

Lied about membership, told it was free, got home and saw the receipt and that it's 12/mo. Hell no. They lost me as a customer for lying. It's not like a store discount at all, and it's definitely not free. I've done sales and even I think that's SAF. I looked it up and canceled online.

What happened to me is exactly what happened to most of the other reviewers here and on many other websites so I'll be brief. Wanted to make a small purchase (Moorestown, NJ) and was offered the BSP card for 10% off and some coupons. I asked if the card was free and I was told YES, which is a LIE because it costs $15ish a month after a trial period. THAT IS NOT FREE. I asked if it was like a typical store discount card and was told yes - LIE. IT'S A SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE!
I was in the middle of a sale at the time so THEY ALREADY HAD MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. FYI signed me up for this garbage program and on top of that, tried to sign me up for various magazine subscriptions which I fortunately declined at the time. The salesperson told me those were free too - ANOTHER LIE. She was really persistent about the "free" magazines but thankfully I had no use for them. When a business has to scam you into signing up for a monthly subscription service and various magazines instead of just selling you items off its shelves then you know it is strapped for cash.

I purchased a Scarface 4k Ultra HD movie set for my husband and only received 2 discs when in the images for the set it shows 3 discs and a statue of The World Is Yours just like in movie. I would not have paid $27 for just a movie I could of ordered on Amazon for 1/3 of that price. I have emailed FYE several times and have not received any response. Highly dissatisfied. Will never order from them again.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY. Find somewhere else that can provide what you want. I ordered something for my son on 9/23. I've patiently waited for days with no package. I had it delivered to the office because, I wouldn't get it at home. I see FedEx, UPS and the post office daily. Last night I emailed customer service regarding this. This morning I get an email back stating that "I'm sorry but the Child's play Chucky stripes T-shirt you ordered was listed as available, when it was actually not in stock." They didn't charge me but to seriously not notify the customer the item wasn't in stock until almost 3 weeks later is poor customer service. It took me to contact them to get an answer. My son has a costume party on 26th and now I've got to go find another shirt. DO NOT DO SERVICE WITH FYE!!!!

Went to an FYE in a mall near me and was persuaded to join the FYE backstage pass (their membership program) for 10% off my order. Was not at all told that it would cost anything and the cashier told me to pick up to 3 magazines to receive, so I did. After I left I took a look at the card and info I received with it and saw it would cost $12 a month after a trial period. I immediately called and was told I wasn’t allowed to deactivate it until it was activated for a 72 hour period. I forgot about it and was charged the following month. I called again and the gave me a refund. Now, a month later, I was charged $25 for the magazines that should have been canceled when I cancelled the membership. I do NOT recommend this membership. Don’t let the cashiers persuade you, no matter how good it seems at the time.

I bought two sets of Marvel Blu Rays from FYE's online store. It has been a week and the items have not shipped yet. Despite the fact that they have not shipped, and that they haven't charged my card, I am being told there is no way to stop an order In Progress. If an order is In Stock, how has it taken over a week to ship? Why can't anyone from customer service tell me WHEN my order is going to ship? How are they unable to cancel or issue a return on an order that hasn't been sent to me yet?
This entire company just seems like a scam. It doesn't matter what their Terms and Conditions say - you cannot lie outright to customers about shipping times and orders being in stock. I have notified my bank that FYE does not have permission to charge my card. I have contacted a lawyer and will have him send FYE a letter to cancel my order. I have sent numerous emails to their customer service without any response.
Their terms even state that some orders get delayed and won't ship for 2-5 business days. Well, it's been more than that and my "in stock" Blu Rays haven't been shipped to me. What a sham of a business. I should have read the countless negative reviews before ordering from them. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more elsewhere to get peace of mind and quality customer service.

I agreed to sign up for this service, on a visit to one of their locations. It sounded good, and at the time, could see how some people could benefit. Within a week, I wanted to take advantage of the movie credit part of it. The site gave me so much **, so I eventually had to call in, and talk to someone. That is not anything I EVER WANT TO DO. But she seemed to help me for the moment. I went on and put in my movie theater ticket info. That was 3 weeks ago. Not sure how long it's supposed to take to receive anything, but, whatever. I want to cancel this service now, and I am having the same issue I had initially. Despite that the site is showing my name in the top right, when I try to do anything on the site, it tells me to log in. I know my login info, but it's NOT working. DO NOT BUY INTO THIS SERVICE! Either the site is extremely faulty, or it's an intentional attempt to scam people. I'm pissed that I have to call about cancelling.

I signed up for backstage pass membership and soon after tried canceling, as it was costing $12/month for something I wasn’t even using. After I requested to cancel the membership, I was still being charged monthly. I tried disputing this with f.y.e customer service, who claimed that they could not reimburse me due to their terms and conditions. Yet they manage to get away with charging my bank each month after I requested them to stop and cancel the membership. You'll get ripped off and robbed money from your bank account. Don’t sign up!!
