After reading many similar complaints online, I clicked this link. The plastic parts on the sides of my $300 headphones have broken. When you twist the earphones, the plastic inside breaks and they are no longer usable.

I found this site while looking for replacement parts for my Bose QC2 headphones. Like many others, it appears that my QC2s failed when a plastic part on the left of the headband snapped. On calling Bose to purchase a replacement part, I was told that the headphones were irreparable because it would cost Bose more to repair than to replace. That's just got to be wrong, even taking into account the $100 or so they expect me to pay for the replacement QC2s. A cheap piece of plastic in the post would sort this out for me and anyone else with the same problem and a small screwdriver.
Last year, Bose UK tech support helped me by supplying a replacement for a cracked gear in my Lifestyle 30 and I was able to fix my system. Great service and I'm hoping they will respond to an email request I have sent with similar assistance. Watch this space. I see that Bose had agreed to help Richard (from Southampton, near me) and I'd love to know who he contacted to arrange that. I like Bose products. I specified Bose as an option in my car. I bought a Bose Lifestyle system for home and I have had other Bose headphones. I think Bose has a chance to score highly with customer service here, if they decide to help all those in trouble with what appears to be a basic, but easily remedied fault in the QC2 headphones. Let's hope they do.

Quiet Comfort 2 headphones, 3 years old had the same problem as many others report. The plastic side pieces snapped. The first occurred after about 2 years. The other side has now snapped in the same place. Obviously, this is a design defect and not fit for purpose (at that price). I have repaired with tape and epoxy and I've made no effort to hide the repair, which is very obvious to other airline passengers. When people ask, I explain the attitude of Bose to repair or replacement, and strongly recommend they do not purchase Bose equipment.

Bose QC 2 headphones clips broke off where they extend to fit the head - both sides are broken. Also, there are other stress fractures throughout the arm of the headset. Bose acknowledged the problem and redesigned the headset last year. Bose even replaced the headset for free in the past but now, they want $100 to replace any broken headsets.
The QC2 is flawed in design. My headset has been gently used approximately once a month for the past 2 years, and has always been stored in the case which the headphones came in when not in use. They are now unusable because the broken arm digs into my head and catches on my hair. Plus, the fit of the headphone is no longer ideal because the headphone arm will extend beyond where my ears are. After researching this on the Internet, there seems to be many others who are in the same boat as me. Please find here the link to others who've had the same problem: **.

QuietComfort headphones: Same problem, the plastic channels on the size adjusters have broken and the customer service (sic) person at Bose said, unequivocally, that the part was not repairable or replaceable. An obvious design defect. With all of the problems with this part, Bose should come up with a remedy.

I own a Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones. The plastic on both sides above the ear piece cracks and breaks even with light use. When I searched the Internet, a lot of people have had this very problem, which is a product defect, in my opinion. Complaint to BBB also didn't help. Bose offered me to "upgrade" for another $50, but they would not entertain fixing the $300 QC2 headphones. I highly recommend that everyone not buy anything from Bose. They do not stand behind their so-called "quality" products. Paying more for a Bose product because you think you're getting a superior product is stupid!

My experience is identical to the other three folks regarding the failure of the Bose Wave multi-CD changer failing within a couple of years of very minimal use. In the context of the original price for the unit, $75 plus the $15 UPS shipping fee seemed okay. But in the context of reality, it is fairly absurd to think the unit is apparently prone to this obviously design-related failure. There are other sites with similar stories, all regarding this unit and the identical problem. Hello Bose, wake up and take note. The fact that there are so many identical reports regarding this very same piece of equipment is a little curious.

The plastic that encases the wires and metal extension is broken and cracked in many areas. Obviously a design defect. It cannot support the stress of normal use. My headset is 4 years old and hardly used over the last 2+ years. My only recourse is to wrap and epoxy it to hopefully prevent total failure. When I'm on a plane and someone inquires about my broken Bose headset, I'll make sure that's the last time Bose is thought of in a good light!

In 2008, I elected to purchase Bose radio and CD changer. I was required to pay $123.15 and $38.24 a month for 12 months. During the process, I lost my Debit Card. After reporting it lost and receiving a new one, I called Bose immediately and made the scheduled payment which put my account back on time. Several months passed and I contacted Bose in November of 2008 because I wanted to purchase their Surround Sound System so I asked when my payments would end. The representative stated my last payment would be in December of 2008. By the end of that year, I closed out the Bose account.
In February of 2009, I received a statement from my bank showing Bose debiting my account for an additional payment causing. When I contacted Bose concerning this issue, they stated they were justified in taking the money from my account because that was my final payment. I responded, "Your employee confirmed in November of 2008 my last payment would be in December of 2008." The Bose Supervisor apologized for the misinformation, but offered nothing else.
In my opinion, if the service representative made a mistake in calculating the last payment, I should have been sent some kind of notice. I would expect this kind of nonsense from a Kmart not Bose. I will never purchase a Bose product again and I will repeat this story to whoever will listen. Trust me, Bose will lose a lot more than $38.24.

I have purchased one SoundDock Portable Digital Music System on 27.12.08. On 7th Jan. 2009, I contacted Ms. Monalisa and expressed my dissatisfaction on the selection of the system. I requested her to arrange the Bose Wave Music System by changing the purchased one. After getting approval from her manager (Ms.Trina **), she called me and asked me to make ready of all the papers and the packing box. She confirmed to me that my request will be fulfilled provided the set and all the papers, accessories and packing box are okay. She also informed me that her Manager would join her duty on 16th Jan. 09, so I have been advised to come after 16th of Jan. 09.
I contacted on 16th Jan. but Ms. Monalisa was on leave. I again contacted on 19th and that time Mr. ** picked up my call and asked me to come along with the set and all the papers, accessories and the packing box. As per their guidance, I came along with all the items except the remote controller, which I forgot too. They have visually checked all the items and the documents and confirmed to me that everything was well in order. They asked me to bring the remote controller for completing the functional checking. I rushed my home and brought the same.
After functional checking Mr. ** called me in a separate room and tried to convince me to buy the higher version, i.e., Acoustic Wave Music System II instead of Bose Wave Music System. When I didn't show any interest, then he tried to sell the accessories like Multi-CD changer and the connect kit for iPod. I listened his sales talk and after that I expressed my choice, i.e., Bose Wave Music System and nothing else. After failure of his sales efforts, he suddenly turned 180 and informed me that the change couldn't be possible. I asked the reason; his answer was, "Though everything is in order but due to the absence of the plastic wrappers of the set and the instruction manual, the system cannot be considered as salable condition"? I was shocked; they have wasted my full evening and harassed me a lot.
I would like to know these points: Without opening the plastic wrapper, how a person can use the system? While opening the wrapper, it will obviously get damaged and cannot be used next time. While visual checking they did not point out the plastic wrapper and I had been asked to bring the remote controller from my home. If Mr. ** found the system as non-salable then why did he waste my time by delivering sales lecture on higher version products? Why the Manager (Ms. Trina **) has avoided facing the situation? She has been requested several times over phone by Mr. ** and Mr. ** in front me. I have wasted the whole evening, came twice in the store, listened to unnecessary sales talk, and harassed a lot. How will all these will be compensated? I am really very disappointed and cannot expect this from a reputed company like Bose.

I have a set of Bose Quiet Comfort 2 QC2 headphones that I have owned for approximately 3 years. The plastic pieces above the ear cups are all cracked. Four pieces in all are cracked. The headphones are still usable but the cracked plastic pieces often snag my hair which is painful and irritating. I use these headphones regularly, on long flights and around the house; however, they are never abused in any way. They are stored when not in use in the the original protective case. I contacted Bose for repair or replacement costs for the broken plastic pieces. I was told these are not repairable or replaceable items and my only option was to spend $100 for a replacement pair of QC2s or $150 for a pair of QC3s. This is an absurd policy when the replacement parts that I need can't be very expensive. Very poor customer service in my opinion. I own several pieces of Bose equipment, but I will most likely NOT purchase from them again.

Bose complete high end surround sound system was acquired in downtown Portland, OR store and professionally installed in our home by Bose agents in July. Our digital flat screen TV seems unable to shake hands for more than 2-7 days, even after 3 service calls. Bose thinks the Dell TV unit, which works fine as a TV absent Bose, is at fault. No one asked what TV unit we would run when it bought the $6,000+ Bose system. Sound is amazing, even with TV. However, the impossible visual flashing on the TV completely ruins use for DVDs or TV use. Bose has at least a dozen reasons why they share no blame...but did admit from the Boston tech center that others had the same complaint. Upshot: BE PREPARED TO TAKE IT BACK RIGHT AWAY IF IT DOESN'T FUNCTION AS PROMISED WITH TV/DVD/CDs. We're still under warranty but can get no reasonable fix but replace TV, it appears.

BOSE WAVE MUSIC SYSTEM. I ordered the Bose Wave Music System with multicharger CE by telephone and it is cheap and doesn't live up the advertising. The CD changer doesn't look like it would last a month and the sound is really poor. I called Bose to explain the type of room I had and the type of music I listen to I was assured it would sound perfect. When I called Bose to send it back because it didn't live up to the advertising, they told me I had to pay for the shipping. This is a rather large sum. So anyone who wants to buy from Bose direct BEWARE!!! The sales people are not genuine and the return shipping is very expensive. I won't be buying any more Bose products.

I contacted Bose about my Quiet Comfort 2 headphones because they suddenly broke at the joint above the left earpiece. I purchased these in June of 07 so they are over a year old and not under warranty. The customer rep told me my options were to replace the headphones for a discount purchase of $100 for the QC2 set or to spend $150 for the QC3 set. I really just wanted to get the headphones repaired and was willing to pay for it, though I would think they would hold up better for $350.00 purchase price. I don't know if I will send them back only to get another pair that will only last about 2 years. I do use them daily, however, I keep them in the case Bose provided when not in use and carry them to work in my brief case. It seems like a defective design. I'm offended that the rep lied to me when I asked if this is a typical problem. In fact, it appears to be the case when I look at other people's experiences on the blogs - same defective part and same level of care. It seems like a good class action case to me.

I'd buy another Bose and have.

My dream of comfort was to have my CD's lull me to sleep each nite. In Jan of 2005, I spent nearly $1,500 to purchase a Bose 4-CD changer which failed before the warranty was up. The replacement changer was worse. When it failed, 4 of my CD's were locked in the machine. In desperation, I switched to music on the FM radio which also failed.
I'm 83 years old and had to lug this heavy machine through a large mall to the Bose store closest to me. I talked to the manager who said, I can't help you. Take this card, call the number, and request a shipping box. So I have to ship this lemon somewhere to get my CD's back, all to the tune of $150.00. No local Bose store deals with even minor problems. How to keep a stisfied customer! Lesson learned: Don't Buy Bose.

My Bose radio went on the blink due to a power surge. The power supply fuse was blown. This fuse is not user serviceable. I called Bose and was informed that I could send them the radio and they would fix it for a flat rate of $99.00 I am sure the fuse costs about .03 cents. The young man at Bose customer service, and I use the term lightly, told me that the only option was to pay $99 to replace the fuse or upgrade to a different model for from anywhere from $250 to $499. Not much of an option and not much of Customer Service. I feel trapped by this company. There is no cheap or even reasonable way out of this situation except to give them lots more money.
Frustration and loss of use from this very expensive radio which is of course out of warranty date.

I have a Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Headset, one month out of warranty. A small plastic ring that holds the ear pad on, broke and no longer holds the thing together. I called and was told my only option was to exchange the entire headset for a new one for $100. They said replacement parts are not available. This little plastic piece cannot be worth 25 cents. So they want $100 for a 25-cent part. This was a rather expensive headset. Boy did I get ripped off.
I now own a rather expensive paperweight.

I decided to take the plunge in December 2003 to purchase a $499 premium gift (with an unexpected bonus check I received) for my husband as a Christmas present - a Bose Wave Radio/CD. Our 15-yr old clock radio we had gotten for FREE from our bank had just died. We enjoyed the Bose Wave product for 25 months until ... this past Tuesday it just quit. I contacted Bose and was reminded that the product had a 1 year warranty and that on occasion electrical products can fail. My options were to: 1) spend $316 purchasing a different product 2)have an authorized service center repair it (the closest is a 3-hr. drive) or 3)pay to ship it to them PLUS pay $150 for the repair. I e-mailed them back to describe my frustration in purchasing an expensive product that I expected to have a MUCH longer life time and was lectured that as a consumer I should inform myself about product warranties when I make purchases, understand that electrical products include many different components that can fail, and consider the future use of a surge protector (although that wouldn't guarantee failure of their products and they can't endorse any particular brand of surge protector.

On Tuesday, I placed an order for a $500 item as a gift for an event Friday of that same week. Bose guaranteed delivery by Friday. 1) As of Friday morning, Bose confirmed that they hadn't even shipped the item. 2) I requested and they confirmed the order would be cancelled. 3) They assured me that a credit would be applied to my AmEx account the following Monday.
Shopping with Bose On-line was an effort in futility. They were very inept. They didn't follow through on anything they stated: 1) Not only was the item not delivered by the date needed, it hadn't even shipped; 2) they failed to cancel the order even after a verbal confirmation; 3) the credit to my AmEx card was not issued and will not be issued until the item I received is returned. To top it off, in order to process the return, I have to take the item to a FedEx store or wait at home for a 7 hour window for FedEx to pick it up.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not want any follow up to this complaint. I just want to make other possible Bose On-line shoppers aware of the inefficiency I experienced.
