I've been reading about all the issues with the Bose headsets and I'm amazed. Okay, I have two, probably QE2 headsets that I bought from eBay, used, and one of them has a problem with electrical noise from a bad on/off switch. I do not take care of my headsets. I throw them in the backpack and pile books and stuff on top of them. I drop them. I've yanked the cord out of the headset so many times (accidentally). I wonder that the cord hasn't broken. And these are both used headsets.I don't see any cracks in mine and, outside of the problem I have with the switch on one of them, I love them. The only thing I don't like about them is the "made in China" stamp.

This is very simple. The first Bose iPod station I bought worked great but the plug was bad and the replacement was not given to me, which I still have with no working plug. But I bought a new Bose iPod station, one that you do not need to have plugged all the time with what I thought was a better plug for power than the first design. But just a little over a year, the plug for the power has failed again. So here I am with 2 iPod Bose stations with nonworking power plugs. Now, I am a Bose lover, I have the small speaker set, the headphones and the CD radio but I have had no success with the iPod station. So I must say that as much as I love the sound, I really wish I could get new power cords/plugs for the stupid things without paying again a high price for what is supposed to be a quality product.

I purchased three very expensive Bose Sounddock Digital Music Systems which are used for iPods and iPhones. Previous iPhone charged when it was in the unit. These Bose Sounddocks are no longer compatible with the 3G iPhone so the device does not charge when it is being used in the sounddock. When I called Bose, they response was, well, we just can't keep up with the Apple, which makes sense to a degree but their solution is a $99.00 charge per unit to insert an ad-on that will re-instate the charging compatibility between the devices. I have three of these units and spent upwards of several hundred dollars each and think that a $99.00 charge per unit is absurd and insulting.

The Bose representative just kept saying, “We can't keep up with Apple.” Well, that's absurd. Everyone has engineering teams that know what the numbers are for sales in product categories and markets and they know the 3G iPhone is a mainstay so Bose is putting the entire burden on the buyer. There must be another solution for customers who have spent lots of money on high end Bose systems. These are not disposable units.

I purchased a pair of QC3 on ear headphones from duty-free at Kennedy airport. Although, the sound quality from this product is excellent when they work, the left speaker has now failed 3 times. We have returned them to Bose twice now for repair and yet again they have failed, this is not a broken wire in one of the cables but the coil in the speaker that's failing.

After looking at the internet some websites regarding Bose headset failures, I think there is a common consensus that there is something of a design problem, whatever the reasons for failing, the fact that they do and repeatedly suggest that these headphones are not fit for purpose. In the UK, if a product is found not fit for purpose, the seller either refunds the total amount of the purchase or offers to replace item with similar product. This being a US manufacturer I'm sure there are US laws that protect purchasers from rouge manufacturers.

I purchased 2 pairs of Bose quiet comfort headphones 5 and 6 years ago. These headphones were only used for travel on an aircraft. They were otherwise stored in their case. They thus received light use. After about 2 years I noticed the headband plastic was cracking. I placed electrical tape over the plastic pieces to hold the headbands together. The headbands are now totally encased in electrical tape. Unfortunately, last year the swivel joint on one set of the headphones disintegrated rendering it useless. I contacted BOSE customer service and was told there are no replaceable parts available. They offered to sell me QC2 headphones for $150 dollars. When I am buying a $300.00 pair of headphones. I expect them to last when my total use over 6 years amounts to 1 month of actual use.

I started working with the company as installer before the franchise came and now, almost all the workers are laid off due to mismanagement. Another issue is how people bring in Bose through back doors to sell in Nigeria because of lapses caused by the franchise holder. Please help reorganize Bose in Nigeria. The Bose in-ear headphones are a great set of headphone technology with great, clear, well-balanced sound; however, the soft silicone tips and fit to the earpiece is the worst design flaw of any earpiece. They fall off the piece all the time, and one has to buy extra pairs just to keep up. There should be a better fitting form for this problem. For the quality and cost of these set, I think Bose can do a better job for their customers.

Like many others on this site, I purchased Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones that cracked and then crumbled on the plastic just above the left swivel, leaving the ear cup hanging and useless. The right is showing strain as well. After looking for a replacement part, I found this website. Like others here, I used these headphones primarily for travel, was gentle with them, and kept them in the case when not in use. I am just out of the one-year warranty (a remarkably short warranty for such an expensive product, and one I am kicking myself for not investigating).

I contacted Bose and explained that numerous people have had this problem with the QC2 and that they should be willing to replace my pair considering that this plastic piece was clearly defective. They only offered me the new Quiet Comfort 15 headphones (they don't make the QC2 anymore, surprise, surprise), for $89. When I politely informed the customer service representative that I would contact the Better Business Bureau and tell all of my friends to avoid Bose if I did not get a replacement, he offered to knock it down to $65. I said that free was the only price I would accept for a replacement pair, and he told me that $65 was his final offer.

I've registered a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and have tweeted and told friends about the company's failure to replace the defective part. Bose should be ashamed of themselves for failing to fix what is obviously a common problem.

Yes I have a broken plastic piece that holds the earphone together while trying to adjust to the correct depth. Yes, Bose says that this is something that only happens rarely. I don't think so. They have manufactured a faulty piece on an otherwise wonderful item and they should make the replacement part available at little or no cost if we want to install it.

I paid about $400 for these things and they are broken already (just out of warranty, of course). Bose won't fix them or provide replacement parts. They offered to upgrade them to QC3s for a mere $180 though. Bose is the most overpriced, under-performing consumer grade products going. Fool me once...

I am on my second pair of Bose headphones - this time Quiet Comfort 2. Both sides of the plastic earpiece holders have broken off. These cheap bits of plastic are too weak for using these headphones even more than once. That part might cost $1 to replace but parts aren't available. If you travel more than once a year and use the headphones, they will break - that is a fact. I had a similar problem with my last pair as well but I thought it was because I used them too often, but I know now it is because they are poorly manufactured and it wasn't me; it was the headphones.

On the new QC2 my wife bought me, the plastic started cracking on the return flight of my first use but I didn't realize what I saw were cracks so it didn't completely fall apart until the headphones were just out of warranty. I called Bose to get this small part sent to me so I could replace it myself, but that wasn't possible, so my call resulted in an offer to trade-in the broken QC2 for either QC2 or QC3 for more money but not full price. After some deliberation, I agreed to the exchange but very begrudgingly and with trepidation since I know the new pair will break just as easily as QC2 did. However, it seemed like the only option other than recycling or trashing, but I will never buy another Bose product again.

In my opinion, they advertise the benefits of their products but they fail to mention how poorly produced these are and their poor customer service so their ads are not truthful. They have no sense of what customer service is and produce poor quality products - which I think is very bad business. Do yourself a favor - do not buy Bose products. You will, like me and so many others, be disappointed by their service when the item breaks or needs servicing, which it will since that seems to be how they are built - to break so they can sell you something else.

I was actually told the following: "Don't you think it is time to upgrade? They are kind of old." I did not know what to say. I just hung up. It looked like the plastic had rotted, it was so fragile. The plastic literally crumbled in my hand. The only thing holding the earphone in place were two wires. It's unbelievable for such an expensive piece of equipment. I just e-mailed to Bose today. I hope they respond better than some of the others I see have experienced. Last week, another headset broke at the same place. Now I have two broken Bose headsets, but they are broken at different earcups. Since Bose is not helping, can anyone suggest if I can fix it myself or at least swap a good earcup for the broken one (that way I can retrieve a fully functional set)? Bose also told me that this was an unusual occurrence and that I could replace them for $100 and that there are no replacement parts. The plastic is screwed on and I could fix it myself if I had the parts. The left side broke when they were about 1-1/2 to 2 years old. I wrapped it tightly with electrical tape and became extremely careful when using them and used them only on airplanes, switching to my Sonys when I didn't need the noise cancellation. On calling Bose to purchase a replacement part, I was told that the headphones were irreparable because it would cost Bose more to repair than to replace. That's just got to be wrong, even taking into account the $100 or so they expect me to pay for the replacement QC2s. A cheap piece of plastic in the post would sort this out for me and anyone else with the same problem and a small screwdriver.

Last year, Bose UK tech support helped me by supplying a replacement for a cracked gear in my Lifestyle 30 and I was able to fix my system. Great service and I'm hoping they will respond to an email request I have sent with similar assistance. Watch this space. The QC2 is flawed in design. My headset has been gently used approximately once a month for the past 2 years, and has always been stored in the case which the headphones came in when not in use. I have purchased one SoundDock Portable Digital Music System on 27.12.08. On 7th Jan. 2009, I contacted Ms. Monalisa and expressed my dissatisfaction on the selection of the system. I requested her to arrange the Bose Wave Music System by changing the purchased one. After getting approval from her manager (Ms.Trina **), she called me and asked me to make ready of all the papers and the packing box. She confirmed to me that my request will be fulfilled provided the set and all the papers, accessories and packing box are okay. She also informed me that her Manager would join her duty on 16th Jan. 09, so I have been advised to come after 16th of Jan. 09.

I contacted on 16th Jan. but Ms. Monalisa was on leave. I again contacted on 19th and that time Mr. ** picked up my call and asked me to come along with the set and all the papers, accessories and the packing box. As per their guidance, I came along with all the items except the remote controller, which I forgot too. They have visually checked all the items and the documents and confirmed to me that everything was well in order. They asked me to bring the remote controller for completing the functional checking. I rushed my home and brought the same.

After functional checking Mr. ** called me in a separate room and tried to convince me to buy the higher version, i.e., Acoustic Wave Music System II instead of Bose Wave Music System. When I didn't show any interest, then he tried to sell the accessories like Multi-CD changer and the connect kit for iPod. I listened his sales talk and after that I expressed my choice, i.e., Bose Wave Music System and nothing else. After failure of his sales efforts, he suddenly turned 180 and informed me that the change couldn't be possible. I asked the reason; his answer was, "Though everything is in order but due to the absence of the plastic wrappers of the set and the instruction manual, the system cannot be considered as salable condition"? I was shocked; they have wasted my full evening and harassed me a lot.

I would like to know these points: Without opening the plastic wrapper, how a person can use the system? While opening the wrapper, it will obviously get damaged and cannot be used next time. While visual checking they did not point out the plastic wrapper and I had been asked to bring the remote controller from my home. If Mr. ** found the system as non-salable then why did he waste my time by delivering sales lecture on higher version products? Why the Manager (Ms. Trina **) has avoided facing the situation? She has been requested several times over phone by Mr. ** and Mr. ** in front me. I have wasted the whole evening, came twice in the store, listened to unnecessary sales talk, and harassed a lot. How will all these will be compensated? I am really very disappointed and cannot expect this from a reputed company like Bose.

I called Bose to explain the type of room I had and the type of music I listen to I was assured it would sound perfect. When I called Bose to send it back because it didn't live up to the advertising, they told me I had to pay for the shipping. This is a rather large sum. So anyone who wants to buy from Bose direct BEWARE!!! The sales people are not genuine and the return shipping is very expensive. I won't be buying any more Bose products.

I contacted Bose about my Quiet Comfort 2 headphones because they suddenly broke at the joint above the left earpiece. I purchased these in June of 07 so they are over a year old and not under warranty. The customer rep told me my options were to replace the headphones for a discount purchase of $100 for the QC2 set or to spend $150 for the QC3 set. I really just wanted to get the headphones repaired and was willing to pay for it, though I would think they would hold up better for $350.00 purchase price. I don't know if I will send them back only to get another pair that will only last about 2 years. I do use them daily, however, I keep them in the case Bose provided when not in use and carry them to work in my brief case. It seems like a defective design. I'm offended that the rep lied to me when I asked if this is a typical problem. In fact, it appears to be the case when I look at other people's experiences on the blogs - same defective part and same level of care. It seems like a good class action case to me.

My bose home stero cost $1100. I lost the remote for the system. I called, after I prepared myself for the advent of not being able to purchase a new one or it cost me $50. Turns out that even though this item was no longer under warranty, they promised to send me a new remote control within a 10 day period. Three days later I had that item in my hot little hands. I'd buy another Bose and have.

My dream of comfort was to have my CD's lull me to sleep each nite. In Jan of 2005, I spent nearly $1,500 to purchase a Bose 4-CD changer which failed before the warranty was up. The replacement changer was worse. When it failed, 4 of my CD's were locked in the machine. In desperation, I switched to music on the FM radio which also failed.

I'm 83 years old and had to lug this heavy machine through a large mall to the Bose store closest to me. I talked to the manager who said, I can't help you. Take this card, call the number, and request a shipping box. So I have to ship this lemon somewhere to get my CD's back, all to the tune of $150.00. No local Bose store deals with even minor problems. How to keep a stisfied customer! Lesson learned: Don't Buy Bose.

My Bose radio went on the blink due to a power surge. The power supply fuse was blown. This fuse is not user serviceable. I called Bose and was informed that I could send them the radio and they would fix it for a flat rate of $99.00 I am sure the fuse costs about .03 cents. The young man at Bose customer service, and I use the term lightly, told me that the only option was to pay $99 to replace the fuse or upgrade to a different model for from anywhere from $250 to $499. Not much of an option and not much of Customer Service. I feel trapped by this company. There is no cheap or even reasonable way out of this situation except to give them lots more money.

Frustration and loss of use from this very expensive radio which is of course out of warranty date.

After spending around $40,000 in equipment, nothing works. The DVD does not play any movies, the remotes do not work across the rooms, the stored music skips and jumps within songs, every 3 to 4 weeks the system has to be turned off completely and restarted as it freezes.

I am really upset as I was ripped off.

I have a Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Headset, one month out of warranty. A small plastic ring that holds the ear pad on, broke and no longer holds the thing together. I called and was told my only option was to exchange the entire headset for a new one for $100. They said replacement parts are not available. This little plastic piece cannot be worth 25 cents. So they want $100 for a 25-cent part. This was a rather expensive headset. Boy did I get ripped off.

I now own a rather expensive paperweight.

I bought a set of Triport headphones from Bose. The quality performance of the product is/was excellent. My cat chewed the wires and the headphones will no longer work. I tried contacting Bose but could not wait any longer after 15 minutes on hold. I called again a few days later and got through in only 10 minutes. The only remedy Bose could offer was for me to send the headphones to them and they would send me a new set for only $50.00. They will not repair the chewed wire. My remedy is to not deal with Bose anymore due to their lousy customer service and ridiculous solution for what should be a $5.00 repair.

I decided to take the plunge in December 2003 to purchase a $499 premium gift (with an unexpected bonus check I received) for my husband as a Christmas present - a Bose Wave Radio/CD. Our 15-yr old clock radio we had gotten for FREE from our bank had just died. We enjoyed the Bose Wave product for 25 months until ... this past Tuesday it just quit. I contacted Bose and was reminded that the product had a 1 year warranty and that on occasion electrical products can fail. My options were to: 1) spend $316 purchasing a different product 2)have an authorized service center repair it (the closest is a 3-hr. drive) or 3)pay to ship it to them PLUS pay $150 for the repair. I e-mailed them back to describe my frustration in purchasing an expensive product that I expected to have a MUCH longer life time and was lectured that as a consumer I should inform myself about product warranties when I make purchases, understand that electrical products include many different components that can fail, and consider the future use of a surge protector (although that wouldn't guarantee failure of their products and they can't endorse any particular brand of surge protector.

On Tuesday, I placed an order for a $500 item as a gift for an event Friday of that same week. Bose guaranteed delivery by Friday. 1) As of Friday morning, Bose confirmed that they hadn't even shipped the item. 2) I requested and they confirmed the order would be cancelled. 3) They assured me that a credit would be applied to my AmEx account the following Monday.

One week after the item was originally ordered, the item arrived on my doorstep.

Shopping with Bose On-line was an effort in futility. They were very inept. They didn't follow through on anything they stated: 1) Not only was the item not delivered by the date needed, it hadn't even shipped; 2) they failed to cancel the order even after a verbal confirmation; 3) the credit to my AmEx card was not issued and will not be issued until the item I received is returned. To top it off, in order to process the return, I have to take the item to a FedEx store or wait at home for a 7 hour window for FedEx to pick it up.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not want any follow up to this complaint. I just want to make other possible Bose On-line shoppers aware of the inefficiency I experienced.
