I just bought Oreck XL by phone after a TV ad with 50% plus a fridge purifier. On the telephone conversation, I asked if the TV ad was true and they said, "Yes, it's only $166.65 plus fridge purifier." I even asked how much to pay for 3 months, and they said $55.55 x 3 months. It was a recorded conversation. Just this morning, the parcel arrived and I checked my receipt with full price, $539.95, with no fridge purifier!!! They deceive people! Do not trust this company ever again!!!

I purchased the Power Scrubber to be used on our stone tile floors in Jan. 2013 for $450. The back of the machine cracked in half (it’s all plastic) in May 2013 after four months only - used 1x a week, so approximately 16x. We took it to a local vacuum repair place and were told they could not help us and we should send it back since it was so new. I contacted Oreck and the woman who spoke to me was not very helpful; she was rude. I told her I wanted a refund, and I was told I would be charged a $169 restocking fee. Hum spend more money and then still have nothing? She told me the warranty had expired just a short 5 days before, and THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO SINCE THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. I asked for a return label to be sent (which has still not arrived) and I wanted a replacement machine.

The machine is not operator friendly. Unlike a normal vacuum where you push and pull back and forth, this will only work in one direction OR IT SHUTS OFF. One must tip it up on its wheels to move it forward and then pull it backward (very awkward). The cleaning solution costs almost $10 a bottle. Luckily, I found a seller for $5 a bottle which is sitting in a box. I AM USUALLY MORE CAREFUL ABOUT PURCHASES BUT FELT I WAS MISLED ABOUT THIS ONE ON SOME REVIEWS. PIECE OF PLASTIC JUNK!!!

I've been stuck at home for the last week or so. I don't normally watch daytime TV. I ended up watching the Oreck Air Purifier infomercial, thought the item sounded fantastic, wrote down all the info and numbers. But the sweet, kindly old man selling the stuff, sort of seemed too good to be true. And come on, if you are going to con someone, use a damn good decoy. After a bit of looking online, I found out it is mostly false advertising. Much better air purifiers are available and these dubious claims, and "free shipping" and no risk tryouts are all just to get your credit card out.

They do not tell you all the fine print and you will regret the impulse that makes you think, "Hey I need cleaner air right away, and this nice old grandpa can deliver!" Do some research, find a reputable dealer. Beware of too good to be true offers. Come on, really! Was air quality top of your to-do list before you saw this slanted little offer?

Grossly misrepresented by infomercial. It isn't an air purifier or even a functioning air cleaner. They claim it kills mold, spores, and bacteria and is ideal for allergy and asthma patients - not true! The space it claimed to "purify air" is over 900 square feet. Not so. Oreck's webpage states air cleaning/purifying of rooms up to 240 square feet! I have received a return label without hassle and am in the process of doing so. At best, it appears that the Dualmax does deodorize smoke or lingering cooking odors within a limited area.

Simply a case of false advertising, and obviously, they have calculated that more customers will keep the nonfunctional product then return it. Fraudulent hucksters! The bonus insult - it sells for a low, low sale price advertised on infomercial of $399.99. Wow. On Oreck's website, the sale price is $299.99. Yes, "There's a sucker born every minute (WC Fields)." And Joe Oreck knows that all too well. On their behalf, they actually were professional and amicable in processing my return request. I will hold further comment until I see a credit on my chosen method of payment.

I bought 3 air purifiers from Oreck without doing the appropriate homework (my bad). After they shipped (no charge to me), I saw an infomercial and thought uh-oh, only crappy products use that technique. So I did some research and found they are not as effective an air purifier as some others that are more affordable. So I called Oreck and explained the situation, they were quick to send me return UPS labels (again on their nickel) and after the returned product was received by them, they credited my credit card within 2 weeks. No hassle at all. You've got to respect that. Bottom line is do your research before you buy. Some complaints on this site are about the quality. If you have the technology to post here, you have the technology to research before you buy instead of giving bad press without even trying to resolve it with the company. Thumbs up for Oreck from this customer anyway.

My folks bought this for me to help relieve my asthma in 2010. It did work at first to relieve odors and smoke that comes in thru cracks and drains in my apartment (heavy smoker lives below me); then it stopped working so well. It started to have a whining sound. I took it to an Oreck dealer and then replaced the fan inside. Well, that’s been 6 months ago and it still doesn’t clean as good as it did when I first got it. We all know the commercials on how the unit is inside a glass box, but what it doesn’t show is that when the dust is processed thru it is still in the air. If you were to look at my unit right now, why is there so much dust on this unit?

Well, this is how it operates. I am constantly cleaning the machine and dusting everyday around it. Sometimes when cleaning the Truman Cell, it doesn’t get all the dirt off the metal. I can run my finger across it after it has been sitting in Oreck air cleaner solution for a day and it’s still not clean. I am not satisfied anymore with Oreck stuff. I wish for a refund or a better product. I would not recommend any one to buy this product! It’s sad that things that work so well at first just can’t keep on working even when under warranty.

I have the Oreck XL Professional Air Purifier; the one that is the tabletop and with the blue lights. I never had a problem with this unit. After reading other customer's complaints, I cannot say that I would ever give this unit a bad rating. When it makes a "snapping" sound, it is just zapping particles to kill mold, allergens, and dust particles.

Using this has definitely reduced my need to dust, as well as reduced the smell in my house. Sometimes, I have a get together and although I don't smoke myself, I allow others to do so during the winter months when it is too cold outside. Running this takes care of the odors and leaves the house with a "clean" smell. I would recommend this product to anyone as I have never had a problem to date. Just clean the Truman cell every few weeks and you will be happy. You don't have to wait for the red light to come on. Clean it anyway and you will be happy with the amount of allergens and airborne particles (like smoke) that it takes care of.

I purchased the Oreck XL Tower Air Purifier. It worked well, for a while, in removing "doggy odor" from the house. The first one stopped working after a few months and we did bring it back to the store and we received a new one which worked for about 8 months. The wires inside are now breaking and although we cleaned it, the check filter light never goes off. It makes zapping noise off and on, like it needs to be cleaned, but it is clean. It is too overpriced for quality of the machine.

I have tried several times to get answers to my problems with Oreck products. I now own 3 Oreck air purifiers, the xl is the one I have the most problems, bought it last year at Oreck store in Sarasota fountains store. I called them a numbers of times about it arcing after 5 days and have to clean it every 5 days. I trade in my old one because it needed a motor and could not get one maybe 3 weeks or more. Not to my amazement, but the other old one motor started to make a loud noise.

I went to the same store I always dealt with. To find out tops is now running it. Which I had a run in with them a few years ago about a vacuum cleaner. Another bunch of bull, they don't make any parts for the older ones anymore. Like a dummy, I bought a newer one re-man. I should have stopped before I bought the newer one. We also have a small bagless vacuum. I ask him to sell me a filter for it. Response is they are back order, don't know when they can get one, if they can get one. My point of view is, all they want to do is sell you a new one and don't or can't repair the items that they sell. They really have a way to down the customer that they are doing something wrong.

After seeing no results (no improvement of my night-time respiratory problems and sleep, no reduction in dust, no such dirt in the Truman Cell as on the infomercial) from my Oreck XL Air Purifier, I called customer service to arrange the return. I was informed that the 30-day trial period had expired. I was told that I could take it to a local store for service. There was no answer when I called. I put it in the box and left it there until I had a mold issue.

I called customer service again and then the local store. The manager proceeded to tell me that my experience with the air purifier was my opinion, that many customers are happy with the product. He showed no concern for me as a customer but offered to give my product a "free" tuneup, while making sure that he told me the regular cost of the tuneup. He was so abrasive and unfriendly that I hung up. He would not listen to me.

I decided to call back to speak with someone else (with customer service skills). The same person answered. I asked for the manager, only to learn that he was the manager. Based on the treatment I received over the phone, I decided not to make the trip to the store. I cleaned the Truman Cell and tried it for the mold spores that were in my air after removing almost everything from the rooms and disinfecting all surfaces.I later learned that this product emits ozone which possesses a health risk. For this reason, it is rated poorly by independent companies (that are not paid by Oreck).

Economic damage: I spent money that I really could not afford to spend because of my respiratory problems and resulting sleep problems. That money could have been used for other needs.

Physical: My respiratory problems which Oreck asserted would be improved are actually worse. I now experience chest discomfort (pressure/pain), which I did not have before purchasing the product. No doubt, this is because of the ozone and the mold spores that are not being captured and destroyed as Oreck claims to be. Before, my problem was only night-time congestion. Now, upon awakening, my nose runs like a faucet. When I stay elsewhere overnight, this does not happen! I also experience mental distress as a result of my experience with this company and the loss of my hard-earned (and limited) money.

The Truman cell has a 3 or 5-year warranty. The small wires are not covered by the warranty; they are considered expendable or consumable parts. The first time wires broke it was under warranty and two wires were replaced. The second time I had to pay for part and labor. I dropped the unit off on December 31, 2009 and picked it up the first week in January. Another wire broke on January 23. I purchased this on March 2009. It was shipped on March 20, 2009. I have not taken it to the repair shop yet. Should this be considered a defective unit? The wires break as the unit is being used. I have followed cleaning instructions. I wait 24 hours or longer for the unit to dry after cleaning to put the unit back into the tower. Has anyone else had this problem? I have a table model and I have not had this problem with it.

Call Oreck Customer Support and went through the requested checks from the service person. I was told to send it to a service depot, at my expence, and it would be repaired. I decided that this was unwarrented and desired to have them pick up the product under the 30 day try-it or return it policy. I was then told that they would not accept a defective device and it had to be in working order before they would. What happened to the "I'll take it back for ANY reason and even pay the return shipping" speech on the commericals? Lucky that I used my credit card and the bank is with holding payment until this matter is settled. Perhaps, this is just a fluke and I am the only one with this problem. The air purifiers work great! The truman cell tech is the cell that does the work and that is the filter that never needs replacing. Unlike some other purifiers where you buy filters and replace every 3 months, the Oreck truman cell filter never needs replacing. The filter you do replace is the charcoal filter - this is only for odor absorption and not for the function of the unit. It does not affect how the Oreck air kills bacteria like a bug zapper kills bugs. So if you want an affordable product that really works, Oreck air is the way to go!

I purchased two Oreck XL tabletop air purifiers after being told by a tele sales rep that these units would remove the smell of mold from a house we just moved into. From the outset, the units did not seem to be making any difference but I gave it some time. They did give off their own bad smell and we eventually shut them off when they seemed to give my wife and son asthma/breathing difficulties. When I called to complain, I was told that I was beyond the 30-day return period. At this point, I still owed them $513 for the two units, which I told them I would not pay and that they should sent a return authorization or try to assist with getting the units to deliver on the claims that they made.

A few months later, I got a call from Anne in their collections department. After explaining my story, she eventually agreed that if I paid $400, that would suffice to completely remove the remaining balance of $113. She gave me her name and reference number which I made a note of. Almost one year later, I got a call from Alpat Company, a collections agency, telling me that I was in collections for owing Oreck the remaining $113. I disputed the claim and immediately called Oreck to dig up my record. They did not have any record of the conversation with Anne, and asked that I produce some proof. I could not remember if I had kept the invoice or where I had written down the reference number, so I asked them to give me some time to go back through my records. I also informed Alpat that I was disputing the claim, and that they should wait until I resolved this by digging up the note that I had with the reference number.

Alpat ignored this and unbeknown to me, submitted my name and this unpaid debt to the credit bureaus. I found this out via a credit checking service I use. Eventually, I found the reference number and name of the person I had made the payoff agreement with, so I called Oreck on 3.25.2009 and spoke to Lilian in customer service. I gave the reference information and was informed that she would issue the note instructing Alpat to remove my name from collections. This was expected to take 3-4 days, and one month for the credit bureaus to update.

However, Lilian did nothing, and as a result, by June, all my credit card companies began to either close accounts, reduce my available credit or increase my APR. When I called Oreck again to complain, they said it was out of their hands, and that I must negotiate this with Alpat. So, in short, they sold my debt to some uncaring company who has no scruples about destroying someone's credit. And when Oreck is confronted, they won't even take responsibility for the fact that Alpat is their agent in this.

The net cost to me is now running at thousands of dollars, given that one of my cards jumped from a 1.9% balance transfer rate, (which is only offered to people with extremely good credit, as mine was) to over 33%. Surely, when there is a genuine dispute, a company that cares about its reputation will not nuke its customers' credit score for the next seven years over a paltry $113? Not so with Oreck. They simply don't care. Apparently, there are enough unknowing fools out there for them to sell their junk to, and no one to hold them accountable. So stay away from the scam of Oreck's products with their baseless claims, and their heartless, spineless employees and agents.

She said I could get a loaner and pay a $100 deposit that would be refunded to me when I returned it.

I feel that this is unacceptable considering that I was told at the time I purchased this vacuum at this location that I could bring it in once a year and it would only take one day. I purchased two XL Air Purifiers. I purchased them to help with my allergies. At first, they worked well. They dramatically decrease the amount of dust/dusting in my house. Then once I cleaned them, they never seemed to work as well. I did learn, through trial and error, that I need to clean them about once a month in order for them to be effective in reducing dust. But it was about a year after I first starting using them before I cleaned them. I was waiting on the indication light to turn red, as instructed, but it never did. I figured after a year of service, 24/7, they should be dirty. They were very filthy inside, but the indication light never turned red. The motor in one quit working after about 18 months. However, I oiled it and it worked fine after that. Now I oil the motor and bearings every year and after three years now, they have not stopped working.

I am not happy with the performance of these XLs. The infomercial implies that this is the best thing since sliced bread. It does collect a lot of dust. I cannot tell if it is killing viruses/bacteria like it states that it does. My family still gets colds and virus infections, but it has not made any difference in my allergies which was my original issue for the purchase. It picks up dust - that's about all I can testify to. I do not recommend this product nor any other product that Oreck hypes up to sell. They are lies. But that's been my experience with every item that I have purchased from infomercials. All have been disappointments.

Don't believe everything you hear or see. Always be skeptical and ask yourself what did the infomercial neglect to point out. I believe a HEPA filter product would be just as effective and I wouldn't have the aggravation of cleaning it once every month.

I did buy an Oreck vacuum cleaner about 10 years ago which is still going strong and is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used, so far it has never gone wrong and beats the Dyson for cleaning (the Dyson cleaner I bought fell to bits days after I bought it!).

But the Oreck Hoky carpet sweeper I bought at the same time turned out to be useless as it didn't pick up anything. I also ordered from Oreck replacement belts and bags for the vacuum cleaner which I paid for with a credit card at the time of ordering, only to receive unpleasant letters from Oreck saying I hadn't paid for my order. Maybe I do have a complaint, albeit a few years too late. But, nevertheless, the comments on this site have been very useful to me.

Why should I have to do this when UPS scans the return lable and there is proof the packages reached the Oreck company. I told the lady I would scan them and send her copies but I was keeping the originals. After speaking with three different people this was finally agreed on as being acceptable. I was told I would receive a call back when the items were located. I called back several more times with no answers. I stopped calling trying to get answers and felt they received the packages and UPS gave me conformation they were delivered. They owed me back for the five payments I had alreay made to the Company. The company still deducted a $35.79 payment the following month after I returned the items. I contacted my bank and told them the situation and they stopped further payments to the Oreck Company. Several months later I was doing a routine check of my credit report and found that Oreck had turned my account over to a collection agency, which never contacted me, and had reported my account at key derogatory. I called the company and they are still calming I never returned the two items.

I also got 2 of their table top Elite Signature Series air purifiers and they are indeed a waste of money. The motors jam up with dust and this increases motor strain and uses a lot more electricity because the motor doesn't spin freely. I found this out by taking one of them apart before I threw it in the garbage.
Now the second one will only run on the NOISY high speed because of the same reasons above. I smoke so the ozone feature did remove the smoke and its odor. The plates get coated with the tar residue and I've found that I can wash them in the dishwasher (top rack) and it's the only real way to get the gook off. I think it does work for cigarette smoke because non-smoking daughters commented on the lack of odor when visiting. However due to the motor problems I don't recommend anyone buy this product. Better design could keep the dust out of the motor area and the use of real ball bearings instead of the crap they use would at least allow bearing replacement instead of the whole motor.

My letter to Oreck about their XL Air Purifier: You need to sell the wire that comes in your Truman Cell. It's definitely a defective and faulty area in your entire design. No one should have to pay someone to replace the wires or have to pay for an entire insert after paying so much for one of your systems... So either use higher gauge wire or sell the wire to your customers that aren't under warranty.... Some of us know how to fix things and if our system isn't under warranty we need to be able to do that instead of trying to get use to the constant clicking, snapping, and cracking from a broken, bent, or loose wire damaged by... the flow of water? Personally I soaked mine so I don't understand why mine would have become loose. It's ridiculous!

If you do not sell the wire that is needed you are merely helping fill up land fills with your pretty high cost machines. Your one pin?, if any, for ozone and your spinning wheel... that you say makes oxygen is doubtful. I believe your wheel theory would work if putting air into water for fish, but simply spinning air does not make oxygen. Your system needs a lot more pins to actually do what you say your system does along with ultraviolet light to kill virus and bacteria. Your system might catch one, but it does not kill it.

The fact that dust collects around the entire motor area and up the wall that it blows upon make me wonder if your system is doing much more than using electric. Your commercials are faulty in representing the truth. I will say your system does catch smoke, but it's not so easy to clean as shown on your commercial and it sure does not catch the dust that blows through it or else it wouldn't be on the wall above it where your machine blew it after it entered and exited your system. JMO.

I purchased the Oreck Professional Air Purifier and would like to share a great technique I found for cleaning the hard to get dust from the Truman Cell. Spraying the inside of the cell with a Daily Shower Spray Cleaner (I use Tilex) followed by rinsing thoroughly, removes a large portion of dirt and dust that basic water and soap does not. Using this cleaner has resulted in prolonging the snapping noises (from larger particles getting stuck) from occurring about 10 times longer than basic soap and water cleaning. Unfortunately, I cannot speak on any effects on warranty this could have, but from personal experience, using this spray has only had positive effects on this air purifying experience. Hope this helps any who are unpleasantly stuck with this machine.

I was always afraid it would catch my house on fire. So, when the first one started acting up I unplugged the second one and have not used them since. I was looking for a service repair shop for them but after looking at your website and seeing so many other customers so unhappy with their purifiers I decided I may just put both of them out on the street for the trash truck to pick up and not be bothered with trying to get them repaired.
They are very hard to keep clean, the charcoal filter should be changed (which was not told to me upon purchase). Paying so much for appliances one would think the vendor would speak the truth about its upkeep and repair. Since this did not happen with our purchase I have decided to not buy any other Oreck article. Doing a routine check of my credit report, I discovered a negative item from 2007. Stunned, since I always pay my bills on time, I investigated. Briefly, Oreck said I owed them $80 for a cannister because they replaced a defective one in 2003 and I never sent back the defective one. I was not told this was necessary, would not have accepted a replacement on those terms, and--more important--never received a bill.

Oreck offered me a replacement b/c they wanted to sell me a new item, and I told them the one I had bought was worthless. Returning the defective one was never part of the deal.

Oreck claims they computer generated a bill sometime between 11/03 and 4/04 but could not produce one. According to the collection agency, Somebody at Oreck discovered a lot of old, small accounts in 2007 and turned then over for collection. When I asked Oreck why they had not notified me of this alleged debt, Oreck said they had no address for me, although they gave a good address to the collection agency. They also said they no longer owned the debt and could not forgive it. The collection agent said this was absolutely not true, that they collect for Oreck. Bottom line, Oreck used deception to sell me a product and now is extorting money to settle an invalid claim.

My credit score was lowered due to a debt I never incurred and of which I was never notified. Oreck still cannot produce a bill. In order to keep my (excellent) credit rating, I now have to pay $80 for an item for which I never received a bill and which was supposed to be a no-strings replacement for a useless item. Even when the bill is paid, the item will remain on my credit report.

I know Oreck states that this is due to the injestion of large particles, but I have this unit in a small office that is free of any dust or any other possible contaminants.

When you do wash the Truman Cell, the water remains perfectly clear indicating that there were no contaminants taken from the air. When I asked Oreck about this they said THEIR UNIT WAS SO GOOD THAT IT TOOK CONTAMINANTS OUR OF THE AIR THAT WERE TOO SMALL TO BE SEEN BY THE HUMAN EYE!! In other words, if you see no evidence of the unit doing anything at all, then that is just proof at how good it really is! You must admit, that is a pretty good explanation for something that does nothing that is discernible to mere human observation!!

I thought that a repair at Oreck would be a simple fix. No, after two attempts I was told that the unit parts would run half of a new unit now $400+ (for a bearing, and then a bearing and motor? which was working the first time I sent it in for repairs). That being about the same price I originally paid for a unit, some deal huh? The service side of the house is more bent on moving you into a replacement, than fixing what you have, unless we are talking a belt. But isn't that not any different than many of the electronics stores out there.

On the flip side, while no electronic air cleaner will fix a dirty house (guys you still have to vacuum and dust). My Air XL did far better than Sharper Image's stick or similar Ionic units at pulling the suspended sedimentary particles from the air - I tried both!!! SURFACE dust is not what the electrostatics are made to remove. My collector plates DID collect and capture alot of the junk. The snap, cracle. pop complaints are a FACT OF LIFE with electrostatics (whole house central units have the same issues only most people aren't close enough to hear them). I had a far better home experience with the Oreck unit than without and it unlike other brands does MOVE air.

The only other concern I had was with maybe too much ozone being released. But on that note too the Sharper images stick put out far more ozone than the Oreck and had little effectiveness at recapturing charged particles since it had no fan. The SI was quite offensive if left on for a continuous period of time. I ran both my units 24/7. The Oreck required more cleaning than the SI unit, but it did far more work. On a scale of 1-10 the Oreck rates about a 6, but the SI unit is more like a 1. Still looking for that perfect 10.

I recently purchased one of the new 6 stage air purifiers from Oreck.com and have had a couple of rather serious problems with it. First of all, it doesn't take any dust our of the room. When you clean the Truman Cell, the water comes out perfectly clean with no discernable discoloration. The collection cells show no dirt on them.

So you might ask, then why are you cleaning it? The reason is my second complaint concerning the unit....it SNAPS, very loud, exactly like a spark plug when it fires. There must be considerable voltage in the unit as you can actually see the spark as it jumps from collector plate to collector plate inside the cell. I understant that Oreck considers this normal but indicated that this should occur only when the cell is absorbing large particles and you should clean the cell when this occurs.

It has been my experience that this loud snapping occurs usually within 24 to 48 hours from the time the cell was last cleaned. It then takes almost another 24 hours for the cell to dry to the point where it can be used again as when they say the cell must be dry, they really mean DRY!! As a result, you use the unit for a day or two and then it is out of service for another day or night as the unit dries.

I guess that really doesn't make much difference as the unit doesn't take any dust out of the air anyway.

In the US you are allowed to continue to exploit your product without censure until such time as the American public has had enough and they send a message by boycotting ineffective and overstated merchandise.

If enough dissatisfied consumers who have been duped can prevent one purchase of an Oreck product and that person does the same, eventually Oreck and other over hyped manufacturers will not be able to afford the cost of infomercials which is a vast arena of innocent consumers. Have you ever noticed how many Oreck service dealers are in business? They are in every State and in most cities. Doesn't that speak about the reliability of the Oreck products. Count me in as a very dissatisfied former Oreck customer

Bought two Oreck air purifiers and after two months they became ineffective. The indicator light that tells me to clean the filter never comes on anymore.

Continued sneezing and loss of $500.00.

In August, 2004 I bought into the infomercial and ordered two Orek air purifiers. After reading what others have said about them I feel vindicated and now know it was not my imagination that they do not perform as advertised. I am on a fixed income. It was not easy to come up with over $500.00 in hopes of removing dust and allergens as promised. THEY DID NOT REMOVE DUST at all. In fact, the only place the filters gathered dust was in parts of the machine impossible to clean or remove. I was also told it was not necessary to purchase the filters as they were only for odor removal

As stated above, their filters cost me over $500.00 and on a fixed income, it was not easy. That next month I did without medicine to pay Orek. Because I have severe allergies I believed Orek when they said it would remove dust and dirty air. Now, only when I can afford it, do I buy the charcoal filters. I'am distrustful of all air purifier sales pitches and will think long and hard before I get suckered again.

I, too, feel that I was ripped off by my purchase of the Oreck XL air purifier. From the beginning it seemed to only be spitting out the same air that was going in, and my allergy symptoms were in no way relieved. I spent $350, plus the filter replacement and cleaner sold to me by the Oreck dealer. The cleaner, by the way, stained the metal in the machine.

Also, looking at the mechanism itself, it seems entirely too simplistic to be as high quality of a purifier as claimed. Boo, Oreck!

I wish I'd thought to check out the Oreck claims before I bought one. Yes - I let the infomercial and the believable old geezer sway me.

I was a few days into the worst attack of hay fever I'd ever experienced; it was desperation that forced my decision. Even worse, I let the 30 days go by without returning it.

Prescription medication took care of my symptoms. There's never been any evidence of dirt/dander/dust/whatever on the oreck's panel.

I wasted almost $400 on a product that does nothing.

I purchased the Oreck air purifier and feel that I was really ripped off. I think this machine is a peice of junk. They lied, in their advertisement, saying you never have to buy filters.

I, t oo, purchased the Oreck Air Purifier advertised on their infomercial. This device really does not work at all. I can run it non-stop for months and the light indicating that the machine needs to be cleaned never comes on. Close inspection reveals little dust, etc, collected. I have more dust around my computer table and on other surfaces in the small room where the machine is used than can be found in the machine itself. This product is of little to no value in my opinion. I'll never buy another Oreck product no matter what. I feel scammed.

I bought 2 purifiers from oreck based on their info-mercial they clame you never have to change another filter. When I asked the customer service rep. about the fact that as soon as you open the box there is a notice that says you should replace the filter every 3 months she told me I didn't have to replace it I could just remove it because it was just for removing odors. They don't tell you that on tv.

I was ripped off for the cost of two pieces of garbage!

I purchased an Oreck air purifier in sept of 04 and have used it continuously. There is no reduction of dust in my house and I have vertigo and broncial irritation from the use of the ionic feature. I now know from my doctor that ionic purifiers are harmful. when I called for my money back they refused saying that I had had the product for 18 mos. I have been sick for 6 mos. and sick for wasting $379.90 on a product that does not work

My vertigo started last summer and by Nov I could barly function after 2 trips to the doctor, a MD i was not better. So I went to a Naturopath and we were able to determine that ionization had irritated my membranes in my broncial tube and in my inner ear. My doctor advised me to get rid of the ionizer air purifiers.

I wanted to see if anyone had the same experience that I have had with the Oreck. I asked the Oreck store about the lack of performance and they say it is normal! What were they selling on the TV ads? Bottom line is that the (2) units combined have not performed as well as the screen of my 21 inch TV.

They have been running for nearly a year now and have not required cleaning yet. I have examined the grids and they are barely collecting anything. I would never buy another Oreck product. If these are not performing then I have no reason to believe any of the products perform as adverstised.

Allegies continue, dust in air is still a problem and about $500 wasted on the two units.

We took our two Oreck air cleaners in for repair about five month ago and we've called them five or six times. They keep telling me that the parts are on order and I've never heard from them again. I've all so called the 1-800 number at Oreck's and they told me that part was back loged, and that's been six weeks ago, but I could buy a new one if I would like.

I was a contestant on a game show and won air purifiers as a consolation prize. Oreck company shipped me five purifiers to my home with my address on them. I had no need for them so I donated them in my community. Then sent me a letter bout a month later stating that it was a shipping error and that I needed to either pay them 1500.00 or return the units immediately. Since I no longer had them that was impossible.

I sent them a letter and got no response. I called and was told I had ordered these units and must pay or it would be turned into collection agency. I sent another letter and requested a written response instead received another invoice this time stating it was my final notice before collection action was taken. Each notice by the way is for a different amount. I did some research and found under the postal reorganization act that they cannot send me invoices and harass me as anything sent to your home and addressed to you is yours to keep. I had no idea that these were not included as my prizes.
