I joined Noom with a goal of losing 20 pounds. Put the app on my iPad and quickly loved the program, and lost 4 lbs the in first week. But, there were several technical glitches with the program: difficulty getting on to different pages, my weight being recorded incorrectly. (Eg. One day it said I gained 8 pounds!!!) Yesterday and today I could not take the lessons because it put me back to lesson one when I should have been starting the fourth lesson plan. Asked for help, instructions sent and followed, no success. Asked for help again, support person explained iPad is not compatible with Noom program. Need an iPhone! I feel betrayed and am furious. Noom needs to put this in their advertising, NOT compatible with the very popular iPad, you must have an iPhone. I had to quit a really good program because of their pathetic technical flaw! Furious.

You sign up for 6 mos - which is fine. But then you start to realize that it is lacking in food/ diet choices - so there’s an extra fee for that. - Then you realize there is no direction for exercise program - oh but wait - there is an extra fee for that.... and so on and so on. Luckily I paid extra for a 1 week trial so I could cancel immediately. If you are serious about weight loss, this is not the app for you.

After gaining over 50 pounds post breast cancer treatment, I was trying to get the weight off. Nothing was working, or it would work initially, like Keto... But as soon as I came off, (it is not sustainable for the long term) I gained all the weight back and put on a few more! I was depressed and defeated. My Oncologist encouraged me to try Noom and told me several of his patients having this struggle were having great results with Noom long term. I was skeptical, but I went into Noom with full effort and determination. I could not believe that the weight started to come off slowly, but consistently.
My cravings went away. I am able to incorporate all foods and learned how to navigate restaurants without feeling deprived. I feel so much healthier physically and mentally! Noom works on the mental aspect of weight loss, which is why it is sustainable and becomes a lifestyle rather than a diet. My teenage daughter was 100 pounds overweight and started Noom after seeing my results. She has finally found the way to conquer obesity forever! She has never been able to stick to diets because they neglect the biggest piece for long-term success... the psychology of why we overeat or make bad choices. My daughter is well on her way with me and we plan to celebrate with a vacation to Hawaii when we hit our goal!
Noom makes keeping track of your eating easy! Noom motivates you to stay on course. Noom has forgiveness when you slip, which we all do, but does not let the slip turn into a landslide. Noom heals food addiction by working on your mental habits related to food. If I could give 6 stars I would. The honest truth... If you commit to Noom and believe you will succeed, you will! Both my daughter and I are proof and we still enjoy life to the fullest.
We can see you've had quite the journey, Lisa, and have overcome some incredible difficulties on the way to your goals. You're an incredibly strong person and we are so grateful that you are part of the Noomily!

I started using Noom a couple of weeks ago. And I will tell you that this is the first time I have been able to lose weight in years. However, one day the app became unresponsive. After spending an hour and a half working with their "Support" people, I was told that I would need to uninstall and reinstall my app...which would DELETE EVERYTHING I HAVE LOGGED AND DONE SO FAR. (My weight loss, my meals, the courses I had completed..which take a long time). How can a company sell a product they clearly know does not work? This is a scam. Stay away from this program.

Noom is a fun program that uses Psychology to teach better eating habits. If you’re easily influenced by the power of suggestion the program will work for you. I enjoyed the daily readings. The advice is good and well written. I lost several pounds. The program wasn’t really enough for me to stay with and lose the thirty pounds I needed to lose. I was very successful with a keto diet though. Your own determination will decide what works for you.
We are so happy you've enjoyed the science and psychology behind Noom! Those are some impressive results! Keep it up because you are doing great!

Noom is a lifestyle change, not a diet. The program promotes mindfulness, and offers about 10 minutes of reading each day, in small, manageable modules. The app also provides food tracking and logging (tracking being an essential component if mindful eating). The readings help one to identify why they are eating, is it really because I'm hungry or is it habit, or emotional eating? Noom has helped me to lose 3 pant sizes and 35 pounds in just over 5 months and I'm still going! Great program.
This is SO awesome, Dana! You are making phenomenal progress, and we are so grateful to be a part of your journey! Great work!

The food tracker they have keeps me on track and is easy to use and you can also track your water usage. I use the food tracker to check what the calorie count is of my food prior to eating it so I can decide whether it's worth it or not.

I joined Noom after watching commercials on TV and reviewing their Internet Ad. The cost for 4 months paid upfront was $136.36 plus a $49.00 add on plan. The add on was for a exercise plan and menu. Both could have been downloaded free off internet. Nothing special. What I got was not worth it. A few “lessons” pertaining to weight loss dynamics. The support that one is promised is almost non existent. I typed in questions and took days, days to get an answer and the last question two of two I never received an answer.
The food scanner log in is a joke. It has a very small database of foods and you scan your own and as stated “help us in basically building this module by adding your foods.” Then you have a basic weigh, track your exercise all things you can actually do free if you search the internet. I was serious about my program, I bared my pains and I needed the support and groups. BTW I could never find the support group. I tried to cancel 6 days later but they will not refund any of the 4 months. I joined Weight Watchers. A much better and polished program that has a 30 day cancellation fee for starts and 24/7 support that actually connects with you. I'm just two days in and know I’ve made the right decision. My thoughts say NO to NOom.

Noom works because you eat REAL FOOD, not pre-packaged diet food and because they TEACH you WHY. Why you overeat, why you have cravings, why you gain weight even when you eat correctly. Noom explains each of the diets out there: Keto, Paleo, Fasting, etc. Noom explains how sleep, mood swings, emotions, EVERYTHING can affect your weight. Tips and exercises are given on how to plan for weekends and special occasions. It's a lifestyle, not a package you get in the mail with "diet food".

I cancelled my account in March 2021. My card was then charged $139 in April 2021. The only "support" I received was through Noom's chat option. I provided an image of my Wells Fargo account, but was told there was no charge. I was told that I could not remove my card. I was told the only way to remove my card information was for Noom to erase all data. That, of course, would affect my dispute through Wells Fargo. Now I have to go through the process of disputing a charge through my bank and Noom will have access to making more mistakes in the meantime. Worst experience I've had with a billing error with any electronic service. The final chat message from Noom was similar to, "Thank you for chatting with us today...leaving...but feel free to chat again...have a nice rest of your day." Then it ended.

I'm not sure about the negative reviews, though I thought it might have to do with a few excessive treats going unlogged... Nevertheless, I was amazed how in a few days, I began losing near a pound a day. That may not seem like much, but it quickly accrues. I went from 256 to 243 in little more than a week. And then I lost my battery for a couple weeks, still able to follow with what I've learned, but I cant log or learn more till my phone returns. However, I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in losing weight.

Noom is dangerous. And I cannot recommend this for anyone who is struggling with low self esteem or has in the past showed tendencies for disordered eating (orthorexia, anorexia, bulimia). They categorize foods into good and bad using the red, yellow, green rating. This is a big no for anyone prone to eating disorders and it is the gateway for people that do not have an eating disorder to adapt one. Foods should never be categorized this way. This program favors diet products. Like non-fat yoghurt. Or other fat reduced foods. You get immediately rated red if you choose the natural state of the product with all fat included. Which is also very dangerous as diet products are often overly processed and do not maintain all the nutrients needed.
Every day, I was rated as exceeding the red category and I am a naturally healthy eater. What put me over the category was: cream in my coffee, olive oil in my salad, cheese on my salad, nuts in my salad, greek yoghurt (not fat reduced). In order to stay below, I would have had to choose higher processed and low fat items. And salads (which I eat very often) without any dressing, cheese, or nuts. I am not talking about putting pounds of these onto a salad. I usually use half or even less than any restaurant would. It just added up so quickly.
They keep the calorie intake to a very dangerously low level. I was assigned 1200 calories which is way too little for my very active life style (marathon runner). The calories never adjust based on how much activity you do each day. The articles offer nothing new. No support. They have you track your food and your weight every day. The weigh-in in this robotic way is against anything that should happen in a world with so many eating disorder in place. They should have used better markers like how you feel, waist circumference, etc. I cannot recommend Noom. It is frustrating to me that this program does not follow scientific nutritional requirements, health advice, and considers eating disorders when making a generic plan. I never encountered anything individualized for me. The coaching was just stupid and robotic.

I joined in December. The information supplied is very helpful regarding what triggers poor eating habits. Good guidance in how to eat healthy. I was on it for 3 months and realized I had learned enough information to go it alone. Since leaving I’ve continued to lose weight. The issue I had with Noom is the constant calorie counting. I found I did better when I didn’t count every calorie and incorporated intermittent fasting. Overall I think this is a good plan but for me weighing myself every day and counting every calorie became overwhelming. I now weigh myself every other day and do not calorie count and continue to lose weight.

Noom is a very different experience from every other system out there. It is an education and investigation into your triggers. Because you’re being taught every day, you become more aware of your eating and movement. They have a online chat support group that you interact with as you go through the steps. The trouble is, everyone is on the same chat. So, if you are on module 2, you are told to go to the group and post your goals (for example) but someone from module 10 is posting eating triggers or some other thing. As a result, there is no real continuity of dialogue in the group.

It’s also important to note that I needed some tech help and the response was to totally delete the app and reinstall. There’s nothing wrong with that but the tech staff said I might lose all my info, That there was no guarantee whether it would be restored. I can’t take that risk as I’ve invested several weeks of data entry.I enjoy the lessons but the attempt at humor is not my cup of tea. So, all in all, I don’t know that Noom is for me. Noom uses a cognitive approach by writing so called “real world words”. This method lets you know your human and have tendencies to fail. It seems like a more realistic means to achieve goal weight....but.... it’s heavy in reading material that tries hard to be funny and real. They come daily and often in a day as you input your meals. To the point, it seems they think you're pretty stupid. You could take it another way and at first I did. Yet the pattern was made and they never steer in a different direction. It takes them 200 words to say something they could of said in 10. So you waste much time reading making it hard to have time and make a sandwich? In that way you may lose some weight.

In theory, it appears to be doable. But after the first few days, it is extremely easy to put all the data in that is expected. Therefore, with most diets, there’s not a true accountability system in place. After weeks of Cheating the system, no motivation to be faithful to short or long term goals. Eventually, the old habits return and just another negative experience with another diet.

I signed up during the end of December for the rock-bottom price of 80 dollars+ for a whole year and I have to say I absolutely LOVE the program. I’ve lost 5 lbs BUT the best is the psychological tips/tricks. I am a self-professed book-nerd and a librarian so this program is almost tailor made for people like me. Trust me when I tell you they have done their homework! 8-9 minutes in the morning (or whenever) and it’s motivating. I honestly think people don’t know what they are doing when they say that there is no communication during the free trial or needing to cancel. I actually cancelled a few times before I finally decided to do the program (the fabulous value after Christmas helped!) and if you just follow their instructions cancellation is easy.
But you must follow instructions. Nobody wants to log meals but, trust me, it works to make you accountable and their system for logging is efficient and super helpful. I have a group coach and a personal coach and they are there when I need them but don’t overly oversee you. I appreciate that because life is busy. I’m really not much of a joiner but my group, with both men and women, really help my motivation by posting their hang-ups about food and their accomplishments. This may sound condescending but I think Noom works best for intellectual/analytical type people but I’m sure, if they put forth the effort, it could work for anyone. I’m on a year-long journey of self-care, healthy weight loss and mental health too. Noom helps. I’m impressed with their program.

I was excited to try Noom after hearing about it on one of my favorite podcasts. I did the questionnaire, created the account, and then opted to skip the trial so that I could subscribe at a discounted rate. They give you the impression that you are paying a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION (which for me was going to be $24 or so). I then added on a personalized workout plan for what I was told would cost $3. I checked my bank account and saw that I was charged $26, and I assumed that that was for both the subscription and workout plan so thought nothing of it. Two days later, my “coach” and daily articles are snatched away and I am left with a calorie counting app— I then found out that they had tried to charge me $149 for the 5 months that my plan was supposed to last for UPFRONT but that the charge had failed. Customer service was unhelpful and robotic, and I am left with a horrible taste in my mouth. I regret falling into the trap.

The instructions are purposely confusing. You must give credit card information early in the signup process. Later you find out that if you do not have teleconferencing capacity that the upfront $209 fee is totally non-refundable. They claim that there is a 30-day refund period on their program, but when I submitted a claim, they refused it. That was a year ago. I just got billed a renewal fee of $209 for a program I canceled a year ago. I am filing a complaint with my state attorney general because this is not a billing dispute, it is a fraud.
When you examine their website design and signup process this becomes apparent. It starts with a bait and switch tactic whereby you have to pay a large upfront fee for year in advance before they reveal that it is non-refundable, despite implying that there is a trial period (which applies to additional services, not the $209 annual upfront charge). Once they have your credit card information, they will bill it whether or not you have authorized any renewal.
NOOM seems to have a very good legal department, and this is the best-designed scheme of this kind I have ever seen. It is unfortunate that consumer protection agencies have far more complaints than they can deal with effectively and the process takes a very long time to reach a resolution which rarely involves any meaningful relief to consumers. Usually, there is are fines that amount to a tiny fraction of the profits generated, so it is a successful business model. Couple that with the fact that third party agencies such as ConsumerAffairs disclose that their revenue comes mainly from the companies that pay to be "accredited" by them and that these posts are pre-screened by their "Moderation Team", and it seems obvious to me that not allowing them access to your money in the first place is the best way of protecting yourself.

This is a weight loss application which has you track your food, water intake, activity, and weight on a daily basis. You are given a daily calorie limit that is very unhealthy. I am 54 years old female and it had me at 1200 calories per day. The minimum healthy limit for someone my age and height is at least 1600. 1200 can cause serious side effects and is considered unhealthy. Additionally, you are provided with a 'coach' which is really just an AI as mine never showed any sign of being a real human being. After you reach a certain level of the article review and training, you are supposed to be hooked into a support group of live people who you are matched with. However, over a week after this was supposed to happen, I still did not have access to the group. Overall, this is not a healthy program, and the cost is excessive. I would not recommend this program to anyone that wants to drop weight in a healthy way.

I’ve been ghosted by them. Also worth noting is that initially I learned that there would be opportunity for coach/group interaction, but before it was even explained, I was informed I didn’t “have to” and it wasn’t necessary. When I chatted with a service rep yesterday, first I was disconnected, then had to reconnect and explain everything again. I’ve yet to have my concerns addressed, except I have it been guaranteed that my “opt out” for renewal has been activated.
While the app is good at tracking calories and logging different exercises, it does not sync with any of your other smart devices and requires you to tether your phone in order to log steps taken. And another thing, as I was initially contacted frequently, after they got the money, when I asked about how frequently I would hear from a coach, I was informed weekly, and they never answered why the initial contact was a lot more frequent. I do not recommend this app, as it was expensive in a relative sense, because it would be cheaper to just download a free app to count calories consumed, and calories burned.

I am stuck with paying which yes is my fault but I thought that deleting the app was enough. If you cancel contact them before trial period is done or you will be stuck with a $179 charge. No refunds partial or full. My bank called me when the charge first happened and I asked them to decline the charge which I find was not good enough. I believe that this is an unethical way to do business, I will never recommend this company.

If you want to use it on a regular PC keep looking, they stated they have no urgent plans for PC. They refunded the main fees, but refuse to refund the meal and exercise plan.. which is also cell phone based with no mention of smart phone until after payments are completed.

I tried Noom with the hope of losing 20 pounds of postmenopausal weight gain. The calorie tracking is user friendly, however, I can use a similar free app to track what I eat. The lessons weren't particularly educational as I already knew the majority of what was covered. The group and individual coaches were quite young and didn't seem to fully grasp my situation (over 60/postmenopausal.) The articles and advice they shared were not specific to someone in my situation (the male group coach even said that.) I have found a lot of useful information online and will create my own weight loss strategy/calorie tracking without paying $30+/month. It seems that Noom is better for those that over eat, stress eat, can't control cravings, etc. That's not a bad thing but it isn't effective for me as I don't do any of those things.

This plan is absolutely worthless, they don't give you a plan to follow, they give you tidbits and your coach is a joke. You're not talking to a person and they don't answer questions. After trying to stick to a plan that was no plan at all basically you can go in and find recipes to get an idea of what you should be following and oh let's not forget you can log your meals everyday. What a waste of money and what a scam.

First, I’ve tried EVERYTHING out there! And any “diet” generally works if you stick to it. With that said, NOOM is easy and educational. I began Halloween 2020. I’ve lost 13 pounds (15 to go) and more importantly I’ve learned how to be mindful of my thoughts and actions. There are no food restrictions though your food decisions are smarter. The app is a cinch to use. They integrate stories, research stats, quizzes, in a way that personalizes every aspect of your progress. There are visuals like graphs depicting your weight loss or gain (it happens and you understand why), motivating tools all w a sense of humor (sometimes goofy) and a coach plus group for you to partake in as much or little as you’d like.
I look forward to getting on the scale every morning and before NOOM I would always close my eyes at the dr office. I recommend the 2 week trial. I think one of the reasons they offer that is that of course NOOM isn’t for everyone. I’ve dealt w their customer service and they are outstanding. It’s FUN, it’s so AFFORDABLE and it WORKS!

I was skeptical, but I decided to try it out after a friend experienced terrific results. I dreaded logging everything I ate, but then I ended up not minding it very much and found it to be very helpful. I dreaded being assigned a goal specialist and placed in a support group. The goal specialist does a weekly check-in and the support group actually helped keep me engaged. The goal specialist has actually been largely useless for me, but then I don't want someone tracking me while I track myself. It could be that some people really love their goal specialist.
The app is decent, generally user friendly, but it also has a few glitches. The messaging functionality is a little basic. The step tracking is not working according to settings, but it's not stopping me from tracking my steps, either. The app does not respond to screen rotation, which is a hassle when you need to type, but not a deal-breaker.
The content is delivered in the form of small daily "lessons" that are presented rather like Powerpoint slideshows. Small doses, easy to digest, etc. The delivery is fine. What I don't like is that the content is accessible only through the app, and only through these slideshow presentations. There's no index, no search function, etc. If you want to review something and you didn't bookmark it, you'll have to go back through the prior days looking for that content you want to review. Presumably, you also lose the content if you drop the app or cancel your subscription. This is all unacceptable for a program you paid for. I've never heard of a course or program where you didn't receive a textbook, a reference or study guide - something - to use during the program and keep after you finished.

I installed the app about a month ago and I have to say that I like it a lot! The app offers lessons on the psychology of why we overeat and offers behavioral solutions to managing what you eat... These lessons do last a lifetime and, in my opinion, are definitely worth the subscription cost. Healthcare is so expensive; I'd rather pay some now than the big bucks if I ever succumb to a chronic illness because I'm overweight.
As someone who is mid-twenties, I didn't mind the turnaround time with the personal coach. It can take a day to get a reply, but that doesn't bother me... I'm not asking what I'm going to eat for lunch that day, so it's fine to wait. I enjoy the group chat as well; if you participate in it and stick with it, it does help. I've definitely lost weight with Noom and have become more educated about nutrition.
The classification of foods can be frustrating (nuts are classed as red), but it does help in understanding how much you should eat. A cup of fruit or veg is fine, a cup of meat (classed as yellow) is kind of pushing it, a cup of almonds is way too many almonds (800 plus calories). The food ranking helps you be very aware of what you're eating, and it has really helped me lose weight. I'm giving a five star review overall. The app isn't perfect, but the lessons and the food tracking is optimal for someone learning about nutrition and looking for good, lifelong habits.

Before you commit to even a two week trial, do try and find the fine print. If you decide, as I did, that the app wasn't worth the money, which was my personal opinion, and you don't cancel before that trial period is over, they will auto charge you a minimum of 6 months for NOOM which turned out to be a nasty little 137.00 pound surprise deduction from my debit account this fine Sunday morning. There is seemingly no way to talk to anyone about it. I have contacted my bank and they have cancelled my sub for me. But I have no way of getting back the 137.00 so underhandedly stolen from my account. Did I agree to 6 months more? NO WAY. But I did not cancel my trial period 24 hours ago which was my deadline. It is not as straightforward as it seems so if you do sign up for NOOM, try to navigate through the agreement and look at what you are really agreeing to.

I figured it would be a helpful and different way to think about food, but ultimately became dissatisfied with the "red" food labeling that IMO encourages orthorexia tenancies and views as well as the superficial 'support.' This is a diet app, no question.
If that works for you, great, but they need to be more honest about what they provide and how they provide it. HOWEVER, months after I canceled my Apple store subscription, I got my credit card bill in the mail and aw they had charged me $159 dollars. For an App, I haven't used in nearly a year and unsubscribed from months in advance. I've been tracking my intake for probably 10 years and lost 100lbs doing it. I gained weight from pregnancy recently so I wanted to try something new to lose the 30lbs. I especially liked the accountability aspect of having a coach read your food logs and weigh-ins. Well it was pretty obvious that this app is way overrated. First, if you're on android, you cannot add custom recipes. So say you make a quiche that has 6 servings. You have to figure out 1/6th of the ingredients and log them individually. Or you can add a new food and just put the calories (but then you have to use another app to figure out the calories, so you're logging things twice). When I told my "coach" that I was finding it difficult to log without this feature, she responded saying "logging custom dishes can take some getting used it". In other words, she didn't even read what I was asking. Because you CAN'T log custom foods.
Next, your "coach" is not around all the time like they try to make you think. They tell you off the bat to treat the messages like emails and to not expect a fast response. So if you think you'll have this person you can talk to, you're wrong... They might answer you 3 days later and, in my case, they won't even read your question properly. So the whole "accountability" thing is nonexistent.
Last, the responses I DID get were so very obviously copy and pasted. I get that some need to be, but all of them? You're paying a decent amount for your "coach" and it's basically talking to a robot. When I told her I wanted to cancel because blah blah, I immediately got a response back reacting to the word "cancel" that gave me a link to cancel... I was pretty surprised that the "coach" didn't respond or try at all to help keep you on, especially when they are all about the "what can WE do to make you succeed?!". Also again, how are they helping with any accountability? Overall... it's a calorie tracking app (a BAD one) with some annoying "quirky" tips and advice. Maybe that works for some people but I'll just stick to tracking with MyNetDiary and lose the weight again that way.

I was very excited to try this diet. It has been heavily promoted on tv and I thought it might be different. I decided to jump in with both feet and subscribe for 7 months with the addition of exercise and diet coaching which was $7 extra a month. I'm honestly not even sure what that got me if anything. The daily psychology is too cutesie to even be taken seriously.
The food logging app was weird and inaccurate and although the green yellow red is a good concept it makes you feel guilty even though they tell you red isn't bad but they push you to choose green foods. Also I logged that I wanted to lose weight slowly and they still put me on a 1200 calories a day which anyone knows is much too low and not sustainable but then they turn around and tell you it's not a diet and the psychology they use makes you feel like it's all your fault if you are struggling because well psychology! (And not the extremely low calorie low fat DIET they push which makes you so hungry that you eventually binge.) Also they want you to weigh yourself every day to be accountable. I don't like to weigh myself every day. It feels stressful. The scale went up and down in the week I tried this and honestly made me feel confused what was my real weight? You don't really know all you know is you feel an emotional rollercoaster every day.
Noom is nothing more than another low calorie low fat diet dressed up with bells and whistles to place the blame squarely on you no matter what happens which is absolutely true but they don't need to rub your face in it every moment of the day. Please think twice if you are thinking of doing this. There is a sucker born every minute and I was that sucker.

****UPDATE from Noom. I received a template email saying that they had cancelled my subscription so Noom would NOT be charging me anymore (which I already knew) but they said they REFUNDED the entire amount back. Although they kept my 3.00 donation. Lol. Thank you for bending to the pressure, but it should be your "policy" that you don't force people to sign up HOPING you can convince them to stay. Do your homework, and for some I'm sure this is a great resource. Not for me, and so happy to have my funds back in my account.

Money taken from my account without notice. BUYER BEWARE: If you are interested in this website and service, tread carefully through the process, as it starts out as a 2 week free Trial service, but then they go for the "help us to mitigate this cost, can you donate a few dollars"? When it comes to the pricing of the app I didn't really have any problems. I wasn't charged within the 14 day free trial. I was charged after. If you're not satisfied with the app you NEED to contact them and let them know that you want to cancel. If you don't contact them then yes you will be charged that 160 (nonrefundable) or whatever. I think I paid about 130 cause I had a coupon and I was able to use the coupon after I was charged the 160 initially so that's a pro I guess.
OK so sure I lost weight I lost about 20lbs but boy was I hungry. The app for me was too restrictive cause not all calories are created equal. I'm on WW now and it just gives me more freedom cause some foods are 0 points and I'm back to losing weight. I didn't lose anything for about a month on Noom. It just stopped working within my lifestyle. And I hate how you weigh yourself every day. I don't need to know the number every day. It got obsessive with me. The "coaching" sucks. All I got were these open ended questions consistently and never really got advice on anything. Every day you get theses articles to read but it got redundant and boring. So yea overall I would pass on the app and look elsewhere if you want long term suitability.

Yesterday I was very disappointed in my app not working but Noom fixed it and I'm on my way! Noom not only teaches you how many calories per day, it shows you what to eat and what to eat less of. It's better than the "other guy" because Noom shows you a healthier way to eat instead of just "stay within these guidelines". I've only been on the program for 4 days now but the scale is going down! And more importantly, I'm finding out why I've had a hard time losing weight. I'm a huge fan of cognitive behavioral therapy. It works. Thanks Noom!

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Many reasons. First their program states inclusive of PERSONALIZED DIET & EXERCISE PROGRAMS according to your personal likes/dislikes. #1 had to pay $49.00 extra for these. #2 I NEVER received them. #3 After several requests (with no responses) to have them sent to me I finally requested again to either send me these PERSONALIZED PROGRAMS I already paid for & to start my trial period after I did receive them so I could judge if the program was going to work for me under the conditions their program stated or cancel my program & refund me the $49.00 additional charges I already paid & not charge my cc for the program itself, they chose to NOT send me my PERSONALIZED PROGRAMS and cancel my program.
They did charge me for canceling which also was not stated. Even more importantly they state you are not restricted from eating any of the foods you like/normally eat. Really? NOT any MORE or ANY LESS than ANY/ALL other DIETS/DIET PROGRAMS. Their so-called ‘coaches’, their messages/responses seem nothing more than computerized messages. There’s much more, but instead, I’ll add, go to BBB site for more honest reviews.

Support gave me some basic ways to handle it, none of which worked. The app updates sometimes but not every day like it is supposed to. I have several other apps where I have to track things for work that I spent far less on and these things work perfectly fine. You will never be able to speak to a live person, ever. Sometimes you'll get what appears to be 'smart' answers from a variety of support techs that say, "Oh, I guess Noom is giving you the day off today??" I am tracking weight loss and logging meals on a daily basis. Be careful when you sign up. If you sign up for a long term 'deal' they will keep every penny even if you try to cancel one day after your 'trial subscription' ends. It is a good concept, it is the execution and very weak support services that are an issue for me.

This is good for absolute beginners of dieting. You know these people: the ones that eat an entire bag of M&M's casually at their desk at work. The ones who pick up gas station cinnamon rolls without even a glance at the nutrition facts. The ones who don't realize the tiny chocolate square you're eating has 100 calories "Because it's so small!" Yeah, you know what I mean. I was one of those people.... when I was 20. I am 30 now. I know the absolute basics of dieting and what to eat. I know what empty calories are and I know that wholesome, unprocessed food will satiate you more than empty processed foods. I wanted accountability. I wanted somebody to text me every day and say, "hey X, Did you avoid that chocolate cake last night like you said you would?" But no, you don't get that with Noom.
What you do get is a bunch of feel good activities most adults do not have the time to do (such as drawing stuff) and a group of people that are all goodhearted and kind enough, but you just can't actually REACH OUT to them. I would have loved to have been paired up with a partner and held each other accountable with progress pics and stuff.
And the coach! Oy vay. Now don't get me wrong, the coach I had was a very kind person just doing their job. They were cordial and friendly the whole time. However the style is like this:Me: I've been struggling with eating lots of junk food on Saturdays. I just feel so free and happy on Saturday I just go nuts and eat heaps of candy, fried foods and fancy coffee drinks. I don't want to do this anymore.
Coach: OK, it sounds like you want to eat less on Saturday. What can you do to do that?
Me: (in my mind) "FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, THIS IS WHY I SIGNED UP. I NEED IDEAS. IF I had the ANSWERS I WOULDN'T have BOUGHT the PROGRAM."
Then I would just give some BS answer and overeat anyways on Saturday. Eventually, I realized my behaviors weren't changing because I had zero accountability and just sort of let it run out. My bottom line? Not a bad app by any means. I admit that I am to blame. I was weak-willed and I am ultimately responsible for my actions and what goes into my mouth, so by no means am I blaming the app or the coach; I've had poor habits for decades and I have to be the one to break them. So, if you are an absolute beginner at dieting and just need to know about healthy eating, this is the app for you. I need bigger help as I have larger problems at stake especially with my willpower.

Generally, I am a healthy person. Based on the commercials, I was hoping they could give me some direction tailored to my situation... Ya‘ know, because that’s what they say they do. They’re customization included gems like - eat salad instead of a cheeseburger, grapes are more filling than raisins... Brilliant. If you have had an elementary education on the food pyramid, you know what they do. I agree with some of the other reviews that the program is essentially about peer support and cheerleading. I kept asking for a food plan, and could never get one. ("Somebody" will get back to you in 24 hours (3rd biggest lie on the planet)). Not looking for pre-packaged meals just some direction, but all you get is invitations to group circles, or articles to read. (I do know reading infinite articles doesn't burn calories). Basically, you get nothing but robotic and canned messages, no food purchases, no guidance.
You can get a free calorie counter at My Fitness Pal, which seems to cover all the bases, and that's free. I honestly think half the "glowing" testimonials are planted. After a week of getting no practical usable information, no communications other than to read articles, no timely response from my chatbot "coach" and invitations to group chats, I gave up. If you like throwing money away for nothing but chatbots, please be my guest. For men who just want a practical program to lose weight, forget it. If women need constant reassurance and group hugs and articles to read, have at it, this may be just the thing you are looking for, but this was a complete and utter waste of my time, good thing I bailed before I got socked for money. I’m past that now with my current message and still no answer. There is no contact support by phone. It asks you to leave a message. I am healthy & active and trying to shed 15 lbs so I was hoping this would do the trick. I do not fall into their neat categories. That is why I struggle losing this weight but I’ve not gained insight as to why I don’t.
The psychology consists of little tips that are pretty well known. The “red foods” I was flagged for were walnuts, macadamias, sunflower seeds!!! That’s as “bad” as I eat and I didn’t lose a pound. The activity level recommended is too low but there is no guidance readily available if you want to do more and need guidance. Hello, I'm a 28 year old female who gained 25 pounds in 2.5 months on a depression drug. I've always struggled with my weight, but have found that healthier options and smaller portions really work. This was working great for thw last 4 years up until recently. Since my drastic weight gain, I've been desperate to get back to my normal weight. I've been pretty strict with my diet (keeping below 1200 calories/increasing my exercise) with the success of losing 10 pounds.
However, I've hit a plateau for a month and a half. My motivation is waning by the minute. Like everyone, I've researched multiple avenues and tips online, but haven't really gotten anywhere. Being desperate and open to anything, I decided to try Noom. They offer a free 2 week trial. What drew me to noom was their advertising focal points. Stating that a person needs emotional support mixed with accountability and information. This sounded perfect for me.
Unfortunately I got literally nothing out of my 2 week trial. No weight loss, no support, and no information beyond what the average teenager would know. My goal coach "said" that she would check in with me a couple of times a week to help me with questions or give me support. I honestly do not know if the coach was a real person, or just an automated message. From the advice and suggestions I received, makes me think that my "coach" was a computer program made to pick out certain words in my questions, and respond with an answer that best matched whatever pool of pre-loaded answers were available. Sometimes I received multiple messages that would have nothing to do with me but covered a word or topic I mentioned. They were never sameday responses, sometimes taking a day or two.
When I signed up, I was under the impression that the plan would "get to know me", help me find the best process that works. I felt like a high schooler sitting in on a kindergarten lesson. Maybe the free two weeks are equivalent to the electronics sold on Black Friday. Getting better product or services upon paying full price.
The idea of the plan is excellent! BUT! It needs to be more thorough with the initial questionnaire to establish what your level of nutrition knowledge is, where you are at psychology, plus factoring in your age, sex, sleep, and stress levels. The information provided could easily be found through google. This program was supposed to enlighten, support, and encourage me. Instead I feel even more hopeless. I cant even describe how disappointed I am.

Also the education on nutrition is very basic and will be understood by the majority of people using the app. I'm an RN, I don't need all that much education on nutrition, but there is no way to tailor the information to my specific needs. I need better accountability and real advice for getting past my specific pit falls with weight loss. If you want a great tracker with a lot of good info do some research. I've been using Noom for a month now, following the program and losing some weight, however: I don't find it nearly worth the 149$ for 4 months. Here's why:
1. The coaching is not just unhelpful, it's downright demotivating. The responses from my coach are as robotic and inconsistent as you'd expect of some random sales chatbot on a website. Their connection is way less than you'd expect for a paying product. Their messages or canned. I know they are because they never respond to what I'm actually saying. For example: I put that I wanted to limit soda drinking as a goal, but I wrote it in a non-typical way. The response was canned, inserting my goal in a way that did not make sense. At the end of the message it said she would connect back with me on friday to see how I did with the goal.... nothing.. iI's now been 2 weeks with no messages at all from my "coach".
2. The calories counter within the app is terrible. It's so inaccurate and does not properly take in to account workouts: No workout today? Eat 1200 calories. 25+ mile bike ride? Eat... 1300 calories. I'm not sure where they got their calories data but many of the items are under reported, making you think you're eating well, when your way over calories.
3. Support: the internet is full of mentions of this and I experienced the same thing: Support is non-existent. They've put all their effort into sales and none into support. There's no way to cancel outside the app. Even inside the app, you have to message your 'coach' for a link to cancel. Very deceitful sales practices. Why not publish the link?
4. Outdated nutritional science: I've seen huge, maintained results with intermittent fasting. The app not only does not allow fasting, it tells you through its training that it causes you to eat more and gain weight. While going through the daily reading, I'm forced to click a next button labeled "I'll eat breakfast" - no way to opt out, not customization of the program.
5. Group Chats: The group chats are just not for me. It's been a combination of people bragging out the unrealistic things they did (2+ hour workouts), or people complaining that they slipped up and ate a whole cake... both are not motivating to me.
All in all I found the program very repetitive and the company to be unethical in their business practices. Before giving it a shot, I'd highly recommend using a free calorie counting app, since that's like 95% of what the program offers (albeit inaccurately).

When I signed up, I knew the exact day I would be charged for the two week trial. My on-line coach has talked to me every day and then I got transferred to a goal specialist who has been great. I asked for grocery shopping lists and they sent them to me. The app is super easy to use and I spend 5-10 a day reading the articles and working through my day on the app. It is much easier than other reviews are saying it is. Yes, it’s expensive but it’s cheaper than being on meds for health related issues or paying for a gym membership. The only thing I wish was different is not having to pay for a meal plan. I feel like it should be included in the price, at least for a month or so.

After hearing so many great things about Noom and seeing all of their commercials, I decided to give them a try. I was actually under the impression that they were a free, or very cheap, option. I was very wrong. At a “Pick Your Own Price” 14-Day Trial, and $159 for 7 months with no options for monthly subscriptions, Noom’s prices are pretty steep. After using Noom for a few days, I decided that I really don’t have the time or energy at this point in my life for Noom’s service, and decided to cancel my trial before the actual subscription started. I paid $10 for the trial.
When I went to cancel, I found out that there’s no way to control your own subscription. You actually have to get on the Noom app and message your Noom counselor/trainer, and then they’ll provide you with a link to cancel Noom. VERY inconvenient, and it made me feel like that was Noom’s intention - make it difficult for people to cancel, and maybe they won’t. I had to search through all of their “Help” links on their website before I figured out how to cancel. Once I was able to get a cancellation link from my “Personal Trainer” (who seemed to me to be an automated person, not a real one), I realized that Noom had already charged me $159 for the 7 month subscription! BEFORE day THIRTEEN (13) of my FOURTEEN (14) day trial. That’s outrageously wrong, no matter how you look at it.
Luckily I was able to get my money refunded when I contacted customer service. After reading other reviews, it looks like others haven’t been as lucky as I was in recovering my money. Even though I was refunded, the money shouldn’t have been taken from my account by Noom to begin with. I feel as though I was fraudulently charged by Noom, and I will never trust their company again. I would highly recommend that no one else trust Noom with their financial information either.

3) Said there are no good foods or bad foods. But classified everything I logged as red yellow or green, which created an inherent correlation between good and bad.
4) If you met your step goal for the day, it raised it by 300 steps for the next day EXPONENTIALLY.
5) If you weighed yourself and you lost more than anticipated, it didn’t leave you expected day of goal weight at the same day and make the loss less aggressive - it moved the expected day of goal weight FORWARD.
Bottom line: 1200 calories is an unsafe amount to consume for a female adult. No amount of coaching, “psychology” articles, or catching marketing can make up for that. This kind of eating/weighing proposed by this program is dangerous and disordered. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I signed up for a trial membership in 2019 for $34. After the trial they can bill you $129 every two months unless you cancel. After thinking it over a couple days, I used my app to try to cancel to no avail. Please note: I NEVER used the app so no services or products were ever provided to me. I found a number to call and they don’t answer. There is a recording telling you to go the their website or use the app. I had deleted the app so when I went to the website, I could not logon. I contacted Discover (credit card) and disputed it but after a month, I was billed by Noom and Discover said I needed proof of cancellation like an email. There is no email when you cannot reach them. When you cannot reach Noom and they won’t assist you in cancellation they are being is deceitful. I am 71 years old and this is dreadful to go through this. Now I am canceling my Discover card also. I would advise anyone to be wary doing business with a company you cannot contact!

Was auto billed $129 while my account still said “trial” status. Had not used in over a week. Cancelled immediately and asked for refund, only got a response saying I could use my account for 3 more months, which I said I did not want. Terrible. At the very least, Bill one month at a time, I would suck it up and admit I forgot to cancel for 1 month of money, and that payment would trigger someone to cancel if they wanted. But billing 3 months at that price right off the bay is absurd. Would never recommend.

Shortly after writing this review and then posting on the Noom Facebook site, I received a second email from Noom saying that they had refunded my money. I have not seen the credit yet, but I assume they will complete the transaction. My complaint revolves primarily around the auto-debit default; they really should make renewal an opt-in feature and not auto-debit if they want to create goodwill. I am pleased that they reversed their position on this issue so quickly.

Noom has an auto-renew program for their subscription. I had it on my calendar to cancel my membership today as I hadn't been using the service. At midnight I received a message from American Express that Noom had charged me $99 for the next 3 months. This is 4/9/20 and the last email I had received from my "coach" is dated 1/16/2020. I emailed to cancel this morning and get my $99 back, but their auto-reply says it is too late. I find this very unethical. If you are a busy person and sign up for this program, be sure to go in and uncheck the auto-renew that is the default.

I tried to cancel my Noom program at the beginning because of the Virus and figured I couldn't afford what they were going to charge me. They came back with a $19 a month plan. They must be losing people in droves. I agreed to the $19 plan but still never received the other things. One person on this thread said that she was talking to a computer and I'm starting to believe that was what was happening to me. I signed up and paid for a 14 day trial, but of course they don't give you any extra info about the cost or length of membership after the 14 days except for TINY writing buried in the terms and conditions. I genuinely wanted to give Noom a try, but attempted to cancel 11 days into my paid membership and discovered that my credit card had already been charged $140 for the next four months. Customer service is neither apologetic or helpful. I understand why they don't allow reviews on their Facebook page because I genuinely feel like I was scammed out of my money.
They hide their pricing structure with the gleaming promise of a low cost trial and then screw you on the back. They are not upfront in their pricing, from what I've read it sounds like it's constantly changing and you can't even find pricing without spending ten minutes filling out a questionnaire and submitting an email address. They claim to be all about psychology, well they sure figured out the psychology of screwing people out of their money.

Coaching doesn't work. At first I was excited as it looked like this could help me. Then it turned out to be like I was interacting with a robot. Slow responses and sometimes no response at all. I cancelled before the end of the trial because they just seem to want to get you past the trial and then you're stuck. Never got my "custom meal plan" trying to get a refund for that. You can't do anything on their website except sign up. All recipes are only available on the phone app. I tried installing to my iPad but it's not built for an iPad so it looks like a phone app on the iPad - lame.
To be fair, the daily advise is good and they provide sound advise on how to overcome eating disorders and to control food intake, but to say they have "coaching" is too much. It's not coaching when the coach doesn't respond or only responds with canned "atta boy!" platitudes. I'm going to check out the local company my doctor recommended which is going to cost ~$200 month but at least I'll actually speak with real human counselors and get real meal plans instead of having to hunt for recipes in their app.

Not what I expected at all. This isn’t a program to be “on”. I have been reading their stuff for 2 months. Not learning anything new, and nothing is personalized to you. What works for one didn’t for the other and this app doesn’t see that. Logging food is pointless. Nothing I log is in their color wheel. It’s 2 months and not added yet. For a simple calorie count, many other fitness apps work better. Refund policy is horrible. You don’t learn enough about the app in the first 14 days. It’s not until after that you get in to it, and then it’s too late. They charge you, can’t cancel, and can’t get a refund. It’s a scam in my opinion. I wish I could get my $159 back. I’d go somewhere else to get personal attention.

I can't speak to the actual product because I didn't use it; however, I did purchase the trial. I was under the assumption that my trial would give me guidance on diet, exercise, etc. Noom is initially deceptive because they let you choose your trial $$$ ($1, $3, $10) b/c they do not want finance to be a barrier, but don't let the smooth taste fool you. AFTER taking your money, they then inform you that if you want a nutrition or exercise plan, you are going to have to pay (the food plan was over $50). That immediately sent a red flag up for me. It should have been made clear before taking your money.
Just for my own satisfaction, I took the time to go back, make another profile (just to make sure they didn't say something and I missed it) and was further shocked by what I found. Not only did they say nothing about more money for an eating/exercise plan, the PRICE WAS DIFFERENT. My original plan was $99 for 2 months after the trial (which is outrageous considering without spending the "extra money" it's just a food logging app). The 2nd time I went through, the price after trial was $149 for 6 months! Shady to say the least. Additionally, if you didn't read the small print, you might not even know you were going to be billed an exorbitant fee after 2 weeks. I would be very wary when considering them.

I’ve seen other reviews talk about the monthly subscription charge and it specifically says it will charge you monthly and that you have to subscribe to use the app so I don’t understand why people are angry that they didn’t read before they signed up. Also read some reviews elsewhere saying it was difficult to navigate through the app and if you can’t do that then you shouldn’t be using any type technology because it is extremely easy to use!
It’s more than just a food logging app, it has articles to read that helps you understand how to lose weight and helpful guides and tips on how to be successful. It motivates you to be healthier and more active. This app has changed my life and it is worth every penny I spent on the subscription! If you aren’t ready to lose weight mentally then this app won’t work for you, but if you are determined to change your life it’s the best program out there because it doesn’t even feel like you're on a diet. I tried Noom for 12 days. You MUST have the app to cancel your trial period. The fees are very high. The app is also not free. The foods I logged went into 1 of 3 categories; green, yellow and red. The same foods would randomly switch groups so hard to get in sync. I only learned that most foods I eat are red foods, meaning DON'T EAT! Peanut butter, olive oil, peanuts, red meat, etc. Basically, DONT EAT THE 2 TRUFFLES A DAY. BTW, you are allowed 300 calories of red per day, WHICH IS 2 TRUFFLES. I can't do that. Maybe over time I will change my habits, now that I know, but I won't pay someone a monthly fee for the work I do for myself. Also, if you don't have willpower, this is a waste of money. They encourage you to be MOTIVATED but I am already MOTIVATED. I need willpower. This program is a scam in my opinion. They marketed this idea but it's no better. However, unexpected and tragic life circumstances took my focus away from the program. As my life calmed down, I started the program again on August 1st. I have stuck to the plan, took the advice seriously and the information was so helpful to keep me motivated and engaged. Noom gets deep into the issues and I discovered why I was struggling to have a healthy relationship with food, including limiting portions and not eating out of stress, boredom, or compulsiveness.
The way I plan my day's meals is now mindful. The way I shop for foods is mindful. I eat 1200 calories/day and feel that is what my body needs and what feels best. I am never so full that I feel miserable or guilty. I have learned moderation and mindful planning and eating helps me stay and feel more in control. I have lost a total of 55 pounds and feel great. I know more about calories than I ever thought I would! This is a lifestyle that will continue after my Noom subscription expires. It has totally changed my relationship with food. Randomly, a few weeks in, when it was hardest, there were all these new people in our group. That felt jarring, and the coach was benign at best. I felt I was putting all this effort, and money, and it just felt like any random chat group. So no- for not that much more, I could have a coach that would really work out. That's how it felt, anyway. I was grateful for the good info, but in all honesty, it was basic info that could be found on the internet. I lost over 30 pounds before without an app and I was thinking why am I doing this??? I don’t need an app to tell me what is and isn’t healthy to eat lol. It’s a little confusing to navigate also. I canceled my subscription within an hour.

They tell you that if you don’t open the app for three consistent days they will not charge you and then they still do charge you and they never tell you the amount, I’m a struggling student and they took 100 out of my account after I read the terms that said they wouldn’t. They have horrible customer service and I tried the plan once I could get a refund and it sucks. I didn’t lose a single pound. Scammers that don’t care about you just about money.

I had high hopes for this app, given it has an approach towards the psychology of eating, fitness, etc. It is basically and automated "chat" with no genuine feedback and canned responses. Why call something a "chat" when in fact I am communication with an automated ibot? My first Check in I got a text and when I response to her questions--it took almost 3 days for her to respond. There is nothing inactive about this and in fact I was so discouraged, it made me even more stressed out...not the best. DON'T USE ZOOM-it will leave you even more frustrated about dieting, eating, etc...who needs that. And the categories are all over the place.

Terrible app. Subpar diet program (compared to what's on YouTube and Google for free), and the free trial is a total scam. When it comes to logging meals and measuring macros, they are missing a lot compared to a free app like MyFitnessPal. Also, the app crashes literally every time I go to log a meal. They claim it's a 14 day trial and $150 after, but it says you have to use a chatbot to cancel which is only available M-F 9-5. Very dishonest way of getting my $150. The "health coach" is someone who sends you prewritten, generic, automated responses through im chat. It's not helpful at all. I tried to cancel before my trial was over but I was outside the business hours, so they refused to cancel my subscription and charged me the full $150. I've complained multiple times and they still refuse to refund me. Don't waste your time with this App.

I started to sign up for the program and they got my card number before I created an account and they are already sending me a receipt even though I didn't have an account. They said I had to use the app, but it won't let me log in to the app, so I can't cancel. Good scam they got going as you can't cancel on their website and they won't let you log into the app. Catch 22.

I gave a 1 star because you can't give a zero. I started a "FREE TRIAL OFFER" down loaded the APP and answered the questions. Of course they asked for credit card information but I could cancel anytime before the trial ended and not be charged. As I went through the steps it became clear to me that all the "Professional Counseling" is nothing but a computer program with "canned" answers and advice. within 30 minutes I "cancelled the service. the next day I was charged $10 by NOOM. It took 4 days for me to get an answer as to why I was charged $10 for a "FREE TRIAL". I was told that was the non-refunded fee for the FREE TRIAL. I have contacted my retained law office just in case this sham company tries to charge my credit card. Don't fall for this scam.

Shame Noom has a good product. Just dishonest in subscribing me after trial period WITHOUT my authority. No email, no warning. Now $219 out of pocket. And you guessed it. I’ve deleted the app from my phone because I feel treated badly. Has left a bad taste in my mouth. You would do better to shop around.

Yeah meanwhile I can't get customer service to reply if my life depended on it and there is no phone # for help. Started the trial and had to cancel within hours because there was an error in my email address in one field (had to cancel it because the help "person" is automated and just giving me stock answers.) So then I tried to resign up for the trial today. It took my credit card info BUT now is saying I can't use my email address. What the heck. Way to unmotivated someone before they even start. Customer service is no existent! So no I don't know if I have 2 trials, 1 trial or no trials. Either way I can't get into an account and they sure as hell better not charge me!!!!

I had read some negative reviews and was skeptical, but decided to join the free trial program. I began losing weight immediately. The nutrition information was common sense, but it is what I needed to basically be mindful of what I was eating and how much. The readings about the psychological aspects of mindfulness, making choices, and feeling good about yourself were enlightening at first, but after 5 1/2 months, have grown old. There is a supportive online community of other participants, and group and individual coaches who pop in to see how things are going.
The green-yellow-red food ratings help to guide food choices, but may be too simplistic, as there are some red foods, like nuts, that in moderation, are nutritionally valid. Overall, I am very happy with the results. Could I do this on my own for free? Probably, but I tend to hold myself more accountable to something that I have paid for and that has a structured approach.

I tried Noom because I determined that it is a good program. I intended to sign up for 4 months and was pretty motivated to log my meals. I decided after the first week that the Noom app leaves a lot to be desired. The Noom app is made for use on iPhones. So if I use my iPad to log meals, I must read sideways while doing so. I was surprised and dismayed that the iPad doesn’t sync my food log with the app on my iPhone. And some of the calorie counts looked incorrect. After a week, I decided that I could save money and achieve similar or better success by using the Loseit app. Loseit sends motivational messages and they don’t try to pretend that it’s a person sending them. No doubt you will lose weight if you follow the Noom program. But you can lose weight if you follow any good program. Why pay $45/month when you can use better apps for free or for a small fee? I vote Noom???? Save your money.

Noom customer service is non-existent, and its enrollment practices are downright illegal. I signed up for a 10 day trial membership, which is what you have to do if you want to find out anything about the plan and its costs. Now I am billed on my credit card for $129! Then the only way you can cancel your membership is to download and install the Noom app on your phone. They have no other way for you to contact them. No customer service number, no reply email address that works, but they have no problem automatically billing your credit card for services they don't provide. It's ridiculous, and outrageously expensive. I hope some smart lawyer starts a class action lawsuit that I can participate in!

Last night at 8:00 I signed up for a Noom account on my laptop. With that account I set up a password. I got a text asking me to download the Noom App so I did. When I put my email and password in the App, it said the password was invalid. That was problem #1. I had that password for less than 5 minutes so I knew it was accurate. I clicked on the link to have my password reset and no reset email ever came. I also checked my spam and nothing. I clicked on the link multiple times and emailed their customer service 4 more times telling them their link wasn't working.
Finally today at 1:18 Rebecca from Noom emailed me back and sent me only the password reset link again which I tried multiple times to no avail. The only thing that worked in their system was the charge to my credit card for a 2 week trial. I want a full refund because I never did receive any service at all and I want them to fix the password reset link. This was so frustrating. After that first email from Rebecca, I replied to her 3 separate times and I never heard back at all. It's now almost 24 hours later and I have yet to be able to log in.

The program didn't work half the time and the responses I received were computer generated. I had to reload the program to remove a membership I never signed up for.

I am currently on a Noom 14 day trial. So far this is just like Myfitnesspal, which is a free app. The Supposed coach always gives me canned responses for questions I ask, and they are usually delayed by a day or 2. There doesn't seem to be a genuine feeling of support. I know there a lot of mental challenges that Noom puts you through. I think I will be canceling my trial and moving on to myfitness pal, and signing up for Real appeal which has real live group video chats with a coach each week (52 weeks), and it is 100% free with my insurance.

I immediately on the same day contact Noom and said I never wanted the service. They said I should have canceled before the end of the 14-day trial which I never knew I had and never used. I told them I am not using their service and do not plan to use it and they still would not refund my $129. They stole my money, any reputable retailer would give you a refund immediately after you paid if you wanted it and did not use their service. These guys are a joke!!!! STAY AWAY.

Plus they screw you over with the fees, I got ripped off for $137 after I cancelled, I was going to call the state consumer agency but not worth the time, believe me you will be disappointed and broke when you finally cut the cord.

Noom advertises themselves as a convenient millennial friendly phone app with a weekly personal coach and a daily support group. My weekly coach gives me such automated boilerplate feedback I can't even tell if they're real or a robot. Literally. There are no tips or genuine feedback in my coach's responses either, only positive support, which sounds great, except I'm looking for a health coach not a cheerleader. The group I was placed into is random. Despite being an older millennial myself, I'm possibly the youngest in the group (which is fine except it goes against how they market themselves). There are no similar traits among us except for the timing as to when we joined the app. Groups of people with similar obstacles, stages of life, hobbies, ANYTHING, would make more sense.
Place people together with some sort of intention, Noom, come on! I have nothing to talk to my group about and frequently feel like I'm the only one even using the group option as most of my group doesn't participate, and those that do don't seem to understand threads. I tried finding contact information for somebody at Noom to express these thoughts and to see about getting moved into a more active group, but could find nothing. No genuine real person to email or call.
After stumbling around their website I discovered their careers page. Aha! The money I'm paying for this app is going everywhere but to the services I'm actually paying for. Instead it's going to things like free catered daily meals for the staff, retreats, yoga, entertainment and happy hours. They finish up this "culture" page by promising "they work too" which is cute, because that's exactly the realization I came to in my head. Not enough actual work is being done. I'm paying for their perks, not their service. I'm annoyed to see where my money is going as I sit on this app which, without the people component, is nothing more than a food tracker with a few recipes and articles. Can somebody at Noom please break away from the lobster lunch (literally what their picture is of) and draft a new procedure for formulating support groups? Thanks.

It really did start out good, my own enthusiasm was the driving force initially. Then came “goal specialist”, maybe I am naive, but I bought into the once a week emails asking what I was going to improve on....then one week I didn’t answer right away and got a “just checking in on our last email.” Missed another email and got “checking in on our last email.”
I realized I was paying $100 for a bot to guide my weight loss! The redemption is in the group-they are honest with their struggles and offer motivation. When I emailed Noom through the website about my issue with bots and the “goal specialist” auto-replies, I got an auto-generated email saying my subscription had been cancelled! So a bot’s algorithm picked up from my email asking for help that I wanted to cancel. Suspicion confirmed! With so many subscribers, it’s ok to Noom, some of us are collateral damage.

I thought I was on a free trial, and at the end of two weeks I would be notified that I could either sign up to continue it, and that would include a fee of an unknown amount, or I could decline to subscribe, and that would be it. No. That is not what happened. I was automatically signed up and a fee of $99 was charged, plus a $10 fee for who knows what. Seems you can't get anything refunded either. I would not have signed up for this after the 2 week trial because it is basically a log-in of your daily calorie intake, and I can do that myself. Definitely not worth $109.

The Noom weight loss program is BS. First of all, you are not in contact with an actual human "coach." A computer generated generic text is sent to you and it is obvious because the context didn't match up with my side of the conversation. The "group" portion of the program never materialized. The before and after photos of alleged Noom users does not show anyone being thinner, just a different angle and better lighting. These photos are intermittently inserted into the daily "lessons." Anyone can limit their calories and lose weight.
The "education" portion of the program can also be found by executing a simple google search on how to lose weight or why one would become overweight in the first place. There is nothing revolutionary about the information provided. $59 charge for a exercise and diet plan which also can be found for free with a google search. There is absolutely NOTHING individualized about this other than a great effort by Noom to separate the consumer from their money. Save your money and utilize the free information available online.
