Hims expanded its offerings in 2018 to include the Hers brand, catering to women's health needs as well. The company provides services nationwide, though the availability of certain medications and services varies by state due to local regulations.

How does Hims work?

Hims operates through an online platform that doesn’t require in-person visits. To receive weight loss treatment, you sign up for a membership and complete a questionnaire about your health history, lifestyle and goals.

A licensed health care provider reviews your information and determines whether treatment is right for you. If medication is prescribed, it’s shipped directly to your home along with a personalized treatment plan.

Through the online platform, you can manage subscriptions, reorder medications and message providers. Hims also offers follow-up care, treatment adjustments and ongoing support. Memberships can be canceled online at least two days before the renewal date.

Hims weight loss medications

Hims offers several weight loss medications, including oral and injectable GLP-1 medications such as:

  • Foundayo Pill
  • Mounjaro
  • Ozempic
  • Wegovy Pill
  • Wegovy Pen
  • Zepbound
  • Zepbound KwikPen
  • Zepbound Vial

I had a very disappointing experience with Hims. I purchased Hims products hoping to reduce hair loss and improve hair growth. Unfortunately, the opposite happened. After using the product, I experienced increased hair loss and saw a negative impact on my hair compared to before I started treatment. To make matters worse, Hims continued charging me through its automatic refill program. They shipped a refill that I never opened or used, yet they refused to accept a return or provide any refund. The customer service experience was equally frustrating. Instead of helping resolve the issue, the support team simply repeated their policy and showed little interest in addressing my concerns.

In my experience, Hims has had both a physical and financial impact on me. If you’re considering hair loss treatment, I would recommend carefully researching your options and considering a local clinic or specialist. While local treatments may cost more upfront, you may receive better support, personalized care, and accountability. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with both the product and the customer service provided by Hims.

This product was the worst mistake I ever made in my life, almost killed with the side effects and they don’t take accountability for their product. Be careful out there, if you are thinking about buying any product from this company.

I signed up for Hims after seeing the advertised $39 to get started, followed by $149 for the program. What is not made clear is that none of these fees include the actual medication. Once I learned that the medication cost was separate and significantly higher, I chose not to proceed. I did not receive medication, did not continue the visit, and did not use the service — yet Hims informed me that the $39 fee is non‑refundable, even though the pricing was misleading. When I expressed that I did not want to continue under those terms, they told me the only option was to cancel my weight‑loss membership and my other prescription with them. They were willing to lose a customer over $39 rather than acknowledge the unclear pricing and issue a refund. I will cancel my ongoing prescription with Hims and spread the word on what they can expect.

Please order for somewhere else, their membership fees are very expensive. I paid over $187. I never receive any product because that was just the membership fee. Your hold time for customer service to cancel is over 30 minutes. If I can help anyone with this review to save their money and go to a site that you just pay for your product I feel I have done justice. I couldn't afford to lose that type of money and still have no product. Please save yourself and money.

Don’t order unless you want to sign up for automatic shipments. Thought I was going to “try” it & didn’t know I was signing up for automatic shipments. Tried to return & they refuse to take it back. Said I could use it or dispose of it. So they want me to throw away & $175 that didn’t work in the first place. You can’t use it then go out as your hair is stiffer than hair spray.

Thought I was signing up for a program. First month $39 thereafter $149. Ends up I just became a “member” who’s now entitled to all their professional advice which should begin with how not to get screwed over by Hims. Asked numerous times for a refund, and met with the same Ai generated response. Unscrupulous company.

      Original Review: May 11, 2026

I’m very disappointed with the customer service experience I had with Hims. I attempted to cancel a subscription order before it shipped because the medication wasn’t effective. Despite reaching out immediately, support refused to provide any refund or even store credit, even though the product had not yet been delivered at the time of my request. What was most frustrating was the lack of flexibility or genuine customer care. Instead of trying to help resolve the issue fairly, I was repeatedly told to simply dispose of the medication once it arrived. For a company focused on healthcare and long-term customers, this felt extremely impersonal and wasteful.

I tried to handle the situation respectfully and professionally because I originally liked the company and hoped to continue using their services in the future. Unfortunately, the response made it clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority in this case. I understand companies have policies, but good customer service also involves reasonable judgment and willingness to work with loyal customers when honest mistakes happen. This experience has made me reconsider using the company going forward. Please don’t waste your time and money with them.

1 star — Expensive, ineffective, and willfully unresponsive. After spending hundreds of dollars on Hims’ GLP-1 program, I saw zero results — no weight loss, no appetite suppression. What made it worse was that every time I raised concerns, I received a different provider with no continuity of care, and every response was a generic template that clearly hadn’t engaged with anything I actually said. I asked the same questions multiple times and never once received a direct answer. The “personalized care” Hims advertises is simply not what’s delivered.

You get a revolving door of physicians and copy-paste replies while the charges keep coming. The cost-to-result ratio here is indefensible. I eventually left after 12 weeks for a provider that actually reads your messages — and the difference was immediate and I could not be more disappointed with this program. Honestly, this seems like an incredibly well marketed and well-polished scam.

Customer service is horrible and you will have a very difficult time finding a person to talk to. You can expect to be on hold for a very long time. They billed my credit card for medication I do not want and didn't realize was on the way. The automatic refill feature feels like a scam. I am now stuck paying for medication I don't want and don't need. Take a look online and you will see thousands and thousands of people who have filed complaints and posted bad reviews. Most of your interaction with this company will be with AI robots. They don't care a bit about you or your health their only focus is to hit your credit card as much as they can as often as they can. Avoid this company like the plague. You can get the same meds from your family doctor for less money and less hassle.

HIMS has a very misleading weight loss program during sign up. They will convince you that they're providing a months supply of medication with a consult for a small membership fee of $39 with an amount crossed out next to of $ Amount of the prescription type you chose, and once approved by a physician, ask for the full amount membership fee plus the cost of the medication. This is false advertising at its worst. From the outsourced support to the supervisors in the US, they will all stick to their guns and not offer a refund for misleading their customers. Unless you want to be mislead by a crooked company, I advise you go to your provider, where you will probably pay a small co-pay and have meds covered by your insurance to get what you need for better health outcomes. This is a scam, you have been warned.

I am a 76 yr old male veteran in excellent health. I go to the VA for medical review including blood tests every 6 months. I have been on the same regimen of drugs for anxiety and depression for the past 10 years which has not caused me any physical issues. I started taking the hair meds (minoxidil/finasteride) about 2 months ago. On my blood tests 2 weeks ago my primary care specialist noticed that my CKD (chronic kidney disease) had dropped from a very consistent 66 a year ago and 66 six months ago to 44 which is borderline severe chronic kidney disease. The only new drugs I was taking was from hims. My PCP looked up the side effects of minoxidil/finasteride and found that the minoxidil could be suspect for the change.

My PCP suggested that I stop the meds and retest in 2 months. I contacted Hims where it took days for them to respond to my email explaining all of this. Their email to me was for me to call them to discuss. Speaking with them, I asked that if I were to cut back on the hair meds to maybe 2x a week or every other day, would I still see some results. Their agent said they would discuss with the doctor and get back to me. A number of days later I got an email telling me that they cancelled my subscription and that it was my fault that I didn’t give them enough information when I signed up. No discussion with a doctor or answer to my questions. I definitely WOULD NOT recommend using this company for anything. I don’t even know if they have real doctors on staff.

In October 2025, I made a one-time purchase of medication from Hims.com. I did not authorize any recurring subscription, automatic refill program, or future shipment beyond that original order. On 3/27/2026, Hims.com charged my credit card $175 and shipped additional medication to me without my authorization or consent. This was not a purchase I placed, approved, or intended to make. I believe Hims.com is engaging in deceptive and unfair business practices. It appears the company may have enrolled me in an automatic medication subscription or refill program without obtaining my clear, informed, and affirmative consent. This conduct is especially troubling because it involves prescription medication, not an ordinary retail product.

A company should not continue dispensing and shipping prescription treatment without appropriate patient follow-up, confirmation that the patient still wishes to continue treatment, and confirmation that continued use is still appropriate. If a patient had experienced serious side effects, a lack of benefit, or no longer wished to continue treatment, automatically sending additional medication could create significant health and safety risks. This reflects a business model focused on generating revenue rather than protecting patient welfare.

This practice is also inconsistent with normal pharmacy standards and reasonable consumer expectations. In a typical pharmacy setting, a refill may be prepared, but the patient is informed and chooses whether to pick it up. If the patient does not pick it up, the medication is generally returned and the patient is not charged in this manner. Here, Hims.com unilaterally charged my credit card and shipped medication to me without my permission. I consider this to be an unauthorized charge, and request the following: A full refund of $175 for this unauthorized charge. A prepaid return shipping label so I can return the unopened medication.

Their website is very misleading. I thought I was signing up for the GLP-1 tablet, and paid for the subscription. Got some seizure medication and diabetes medication with really bad side effects instead. When I asked about this, I was told the GLP-1 tablet wasn't available when I signed up. No refund. Wouldn't even let me apply my payment to their more expensive subscription. Threw away a ton of money for nothing. Buyer beware. Be careful when you are signing up for.
