What is Hims?

Hims started in 2017 as a telehealth company focused on making men's health and wellness more accessible. It offers a variety of services, including treatments for mental health, sexual health, hair loss, weight loss and skin care.

Hims expanded its offerings in 2018 to include the Hers brand, catering to women's health needs as well. The company provides services nationwide, though the availability of certain medications and services varies by state due to local regulations.

How does Hims work?

Hims operates through an online platform that doesn’t require in-person visits. To receive weight loss treatment, you sign up for a membership and complete a questionnaire about your health history, lifestyle and goals.

A licensed health care provider reviews your information and determines whether treatment is right for you. If medication is prescribed, it’s shipped directly to your home along with a personalized treatment plan.

Through the online platform, you can manage subscriptions, reorder medications and message providers. Hims also offers follow-up care, treatment adjustments and ongoing support. Memberships can be canceled online at least two days before the renewal date.

Hims weight loss medications

Hims offers several weight loss medications, including oral and injectable GLP-1 medications such as:

  • Foundayo Pill
  • Mounjaro
  • Ozempic
  • Wegovy Pill
  • Wegovy Pen
  • Zepbound
  • Zepbound KwikPen
  • Zepbound Vial

Hims cost

A Hims Weight Loss Membership is required for weight loss medications and costs $39 the first month and $149 per month after that.

Medications are priced separately and aren’t included in membership fees. Weight loss injections start at $199 per month, with the total cost depending on the medication you’re prescribed and its dosage. Oral weight loss medications start at $149 per month.

The following pricing is accurate at the time of publishing. For the most up-to-date pricing, visit the Hims website or contact customer service directly.

They don’t have a number to call, and navigating the website is terrible. The company is a scam and needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney General.

Awful! They charged a $39 first month membership (jumps to $149 the second month) to ask me to respond to a lot of questions, told me I was eligible for Wegovy Pen semaglutide that I'm already taking from another provider, then suggested that I use a non-FDA approved compound instead. Plus, the price they first quoted for Wegovy jumped from $149 (later shown as Wegovy pill STARTING at $149, Wegovy Pen STARTING at $199 per month, allegedly the lowest price available) to about $349 per month! I told them to cancel the membership and refund the charge that had just been placed on my card, but they refused!

I signed up because I was serious about getting my testosterone checked and looking into weight loss. The process itself was simple but way too lengthy. I didn't even go through with testosterone checking because the test (which I would have to wait for in the mail and return it) was insanely expensive, then I would have to wait to see if I get approved for the medication. It wasn't explained what the criteria for approval would be. Even if I did get approved, they wanted over $900 up front, with no guarantee that the treatment would be effective.

The weight loss makes you pay for a monthly membership on top of the medication. I had to go through the help center to get that subscription canceled because it was just too expensive. It's been 5 weeks since I got confirmation that my account was successfully closed and all subscriptions canceled and they charged me, out-of-the-blue, $150! Since I can't log in (because I don't have an account), I now have to use a slower response message center. (There's no call number or any efficient way to actually talk to someone to help you). By the way, I ended up going to a TRT clinic and within 40 mins of an appointment I was tested, medication on regular order, and received my first treatment. I have a great physician there who is extremely helpful and makes everything easy. If I have any issue or questions, I can just give them a call. I should've never tried Hims.

I signed up for what I believed was a $39 weight loss membership and completed the online questionnaire. After that, I never received anything from the company—no welcome email, no program information, no medication, no communication from a licensed provider, and no correspondence of any kind. Despite receiving absolutely nothing, I was later charged $149 the following month. I never authorized or knowingly agreed to pay for medication or a treatment program that I never received and was never informed about.

In my case, I never spoke with or had any communication with a licensed medical provider. The only thing I knowingly signed up for was the $39 membership, and I didn't even receive any benefits or information related to that membership either. When I contacted the company to dispute the $149 charge and request a refund, they refused. I found them extremely difficult to work with and unwilling to resolve the issue. Please read everything very carefully before signing up with this company and monitor your credit card statements closely. This was my personal experience, and I would encourage others to do their research before enrolling.

I had a very disappointing experience with Hims. I purchased Hims products hoping to reduce hair loss and improve hair growth. Unfortunately, the opposite happened. After using the product, I experienced increased hair loss and saw a negative impact on my hair compared to before I started treatment. To make matters worse, Hims continued charging me through its automatic refill program. They shipped a refill that I never opened or used, yet they refused to accept a return or provide any refund. The customer service experience was equally frustrating. Instead of helping resolve the issue, the support team simply repeated their policy and showed little interest in addressing my concerns.

In my experience, Hims has had both a physical and financial impact on me. If you’re considering hair loss treatment, I would recommend carefully researching your options and considering a local clinic or specialist. While local treatments may cost more upfront, you may receive better support, personalized care, and accountability. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with both the product and the customer service provided by Hims.

I signed up for Hims after seeing the advertised $39 to get started, followed by $149 for the program. What is not made clear is that none of these fees include the actual medication. Once I learned that the medication cost was separate and significantly higher, I chose not to proceed. I did not receive medication, did not continue the visit, and did not use the service — yet Hims informed me that the $39 fee is non‑refundable, even though the pricing was misleading. When I expressed that I did not want to continue under those terms, they told me the only option was to cancel my weight‑loss membership and my other prescription with them. They were willing to lose a customer over $39 rather than acknowledge the unclear pricing and issue a refund. I will cancel my ongoing prescription with Hims and spread the word on what they can expect.

      Original Review: May 11, 2026

I’m very disappointed with the customer service experience I had with Hims. I attempted to cancel a subscription order before it shipped because the medication wasn’t effective. Despite reaching out immediately, support refused to provide any refund or even store credit, even though the product had not yet been delivered at the time of my request. What was most frustrating was the lack of flexibility or genuine customer care. Instead of trying to help resolve the issue fairly, I was repeatedly told to simply dispose of the medication once it arrived. For a company focused on healthcare and long-term customers, this felt extremely impersonal and wasteful.

I tried to handle the situation respectfully and professionally because I originally liked the company and hoped to continue using their services in the future. Unfortunately, the response made it clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority in this case. I understand companies have policies, but good customer service also involves reasonable judgment and willingness to work with loyal customers when honest mistakes happen. This experience has made me reconsider using the company going forward. Please don’t waste your time and money with them.

1 star — Expensive, ineffective, and willfully unresponsive. After spending hundreds of dollars on Hims’ GLP-1 program, I saw zero results — no weight loss, no appetite suppression. What made it worse was that every time I raised concerns, I received a different provider with no continuity of care, and every response was a generic template that clearly hadn’t engaged with anything I actually said. I asked the same questions multiple times and never once received a direct answer. The “personalized care” Hims advertises is simply not what’s delivered.

You get a revolving door of physicians and copy-paste replies while the charges keep coming. The cost-to-result ratio here is indefensible. I eventually left after 12 weeks for a provider that actually reads your messages — and the difference was immediate and I could not be more disappointed with this program. Honestly, this seems like an incredibly well marketed and well-polished scam.

I am a 76 yr old male veteran in excellent health. I go to the VA for medical review including blood tests every 6 months. I have been on the same regimen of drugs for anxiety and depression for the past 10 years which has not caused me any physical issues. I started taking the hair meds (minoxidil/finasteride) about 2 months ago. On my blood tests 2 weeks ago my primary care specialist noticed that my CKD (chronic kidney disease) had dropped from a very consistent 66 a year ago and 66 six months ago to 44 which is borderline severe chronic kidney disease. The only new drugs I was taking was from hims. My PCP looked up the side effects of minoxidil/finasteride and found that the minoxidil could be suspect for the change.

My PCP suggested that I stop the meds and retest in 2 months. I contacted Hims where it took days for them to respond to my email explaining all of this. Their email to me was for me to call them to discuss. Speaking with them, I asked that if I were to cut back on the hair meds to maybe 2x a week or every other day, would I still see some results. Their agent said they would discuss with the doctor and get back to me. A number of days later I got an email telling me that they cancelled my subscription and that it was my fault that I didn’t give them enough information when I signed up. No discussion with a doctor or answer to my questions. I definitely WOULD NOT recommend using this company for anything. I don’t even know if they have real doctors on staff.

In October 2025, I made a one-time purchase of medication from Hims.com. I did not authorize any recurring subscription, automatic refill program, or future shipment beyond that original order. On 3/27/2026, Hims.com charged my credit card $175 and shipped additional medication to me without my authorization or consent. This was not a purchase I placed, approved, or intended to make. I believe Hims.com is engaging in deceptive and unfair business practices. It appears the company may have enrolled me in an automatic medication subscription or refill program without obtaining my clear, informed, and affirmative consent. This conduct is especially troubling because it involves prescription medication, not an ordinary retail product.

A company should not continue dispensing and shipping prescription treatment without appropriate patient follow-up, confirmation that the patient still wishes to continue treatment, and confirmation that continued use is still appropriate. If a patient had experienced serious side effects, a lack of benefit, or no longer wished to continue treatment, automatically sending additional medication could create significant health and safety risks. This reflects a business model focused on generating revenue rather than protecting patient welfare.

This practice is also inconsistent with normal pharmacy standards and reasonable consumer expectations. In a typical pharmacy setting, a refill may be prepared, but the patient is informed and chooses whether to pick it up. If the patient does not pick it up, the medication is generally returned and the patient is not charged in this manner. Here, Hims.com unilaterally charged my credit card and shipped medication to me without my permission. I consider this to be an unauthorized charge, and request the following: A full refund of $175 for this unauthorized charge. A prepaid return shipping label so I can return the unopened medication.

It is only after you get their first shipment that it becomes possible to "unsubscribe" from their autorenewal option. They understand that by the time you can unsubscribe many people have forgotten that they need to manually go onto their website to unsubscribe, and/or cancel. By then they "gotcha" and have hit your credit card for a second time. Once this has happened, and have shipped a second prescription, they refuse to accept returns, and/or provide refunds. BEWARE! This is a SCAM!.

Profits over safety. I received a shipment in a brown paper bubble bag. The bag was ripped and the medication bottle was accessible. I was able to easily remove the bottle from the bag and reinsert the bottle back into the bag. The prescription bottle had no safety seal and is not tamper proof so, the bottle could be opened and the pills exposed. I don't know if the pills were replaced or tainted by whomever opened the bag. I informed HIMS and they said they could NOT and would NOT refund or replace the order. This tells me that they care more about PROFITS and do not care about SAFETY. Why would you send medication in a non-tamper proof package? So, now I have purchased a product that is unsafe to consume and HIMS gladly pocketed my payment. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.

I cancelled my subscription in October but yet they decided to process a payment 5 months later without any notification; no text, call or e-mail. I called the next day (they charged my credit card on Sunday) and they stated they cannot cancel it and then hung up. Extremely poor customer service.

In the Tech uptick of our century there are glitches, errors, etc. With any person facing company, there must be room for this. Getting order updates for shipment but not 48 hours in advance, which is your regulation to change or cancel does nothing to benefit the customer and has been problematic for a few years. Cussing at someone about their character is completely inappropriate, but cussing in frustration to Hims' incompetence and inability to provide basic customer service and being hung up on is next-level unprofessional. The least you can do is ask someone to stop cussing before you just hang up on them. That would be discrimination cause everyone cusses.

Again, multiple attempts to recover challenges has wasted several hours overall in time on hold because their call timer said 4min for 30min X2 amongst several other calls over the years which were pleasant. The people who helped me in the past would go even as far as to reimbursing me if my order got sent to the wrong address because the system didn't update, but recently, I've had really cringy experiences with their cookie cutter generic customer service and inability to even coordinate a professional call outside of scripting, lololol. 😀 I don't want to talk to fake little robots. That can't understand how frustrating it is when the system doesn't save you, prolonging your order date, and you end up with products you don't need and can't afford. Only selected one star for the actual product itself which plenty other companies out there now, and the previous people who acted somewhat human.

Terrible company, I have sent a dozen emails to correct something, only responses are useless ones from bots. Can't even get through to cancel the account. Do not sign up with these scammers! Zero stars!

Hims ruined my life. Sexual dysfunction, blacking out after 2 beers. Stay away from this garbage company. $300 later and I’m pouring their pills down the drain because they don’t offer refunds. Go to an actual doctor, do not waste your time here.
