AFTER I'd already changed all of my banking information because of them. Worst experience with a business in my life, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The Anytime Fitness in Kamloops is my favourite gym. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the onsite trainer, Steve is fantastic and very accommodating with booking private sessions. Steve is very knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness, and trains his clients for their specific goals. I’ve had a few trainers and always felt like they had a one size fits all program that didn’t really work for me, Steve is not like any of them! He makes workouts specifically tailored to his client's needs!

I have been trying to cancel my membership since October 2024 in Reno, Nevada. We were not in a contract and were told to just come in to cancel. We did, but the guy was on lunch break so he didn't want to print the papers, just stuck a note on the bulletin board and said it would be taken care of. 2 weeks later we were charged a "maintenance fee" in addition to biweekly membership fee. We tried to go back again and meet a trainer who said he was in a training session and would take care of it. We emailed them about our memberships and were told it takes 30 days to process.

A month later I get a text saying my account is passed due. I responded We canceled 30 days ago. They said they would look into it and let me know. I don't receive any response back until I get a collection notice 3 months later. They apparently only canceled my husband and not my membership. I have been to the club twice and called regional and corporate for over 3 weeks, no one answers or return calls. I'm considering a class action lawsuit now. Don't go to this gym.

I live small town and Anytime Fitness is the only club in town. The monthly fee is the highest I ever seen in the big cities plus they will charge you yearly fee for maintaining that equipment. If you need cancel or freeze for month or two you have to pay freeze or cancel. They need 30 days notice plus fee. You may be sick for three weeks why do you have to pay. Worst place for Customer service. They have people working in the gym, but anytime you ask them questions you have to call 800 number or write a letter to get anything done with them.

Castle Rock Anytime Fitness: New owner does not keep up the gym. Last visit in, Fall of 2024 place was a mess and out of 3 bathrooms, none were usable. Bathroom light out, no paper towels, no soap. No way to wash my hands after using the bathroom and then touching the gym equipment, and obviously the same is true for everyone else. When I emailed the owner about the gross conditions and said I wanted to cancel membership, he told me I was under contract and had to pay in full, no offer of apology, no explanation or telling me the situation had been fixed. Really unprofessional and dirty. Even worse, there is no assistance from the franchise or corporate, they have absolutely no customer service department. Lots of other options out there, I strongly encourage everyone to find a place that is clean and safe and treats its members with respect!

Anytime Fitness has sketchy cancel practices and they’re hard to get ahold of. They Say one thing and do another. We were told canceling would be quick and easy when we joined. We were supposed to be canceled in October but somehow we weren’t canceled then after that they started charging our old card twice a month instead of once. Which we never agreed to. So 2 charges per person per month for 2 months to our card when we thought we were cancelled. My husband had a message from the gym saying we were all caught up financially. We thought we were good and cancelled. We start getting calls from a bill collector and were shocked. We had to pay 340 in fees just to be allowed to put in a second request to cancel and had to go cancel our memberships in person.

Then it took like 10 tries to make this ridiculous payment with their billing company. AND we are told in person at the club that we still have to pay another month but we can’t pay it at that time it must be billed the next month and has to be auto drawn. So the lady at the gym takes my husband’s credit card information and allegedly updates it. We get told again that everything is good. 2 weeks later we get a call telling us that we’re behind again because they never updated the billing information like they said they were going to at the gym that night. So I make another phone call to pay the final balance and now we will allegedly finally be allowed to cancel our AWFUL membership December 25.

I have belonged to 4 gyms in my life. I have never had a problem like this or had to work this hard to cancel a membership. They are clearly intentionally making it difficult to cancel And failing to process things to get more money from people who want out and I just think that’s SO shady. PSA - pick a different gym!!! Total trash practices at Anytime Fitness.

You will NEVER see that money again, he will use any tactic possible to refuse to repay it, including having his sidekick trainer Steve swear that you were actually supposed to have accomplished another, different "challenge" that you signed up for and tell you that you did not meet the requirements, and trainer Steve will tell you that maybe he "forgot" to tell you about that. I signed up for an Anytime Fitness membership in San Jose, California, under the assumption that I could cancel my contract if needed. The gym informed me that the membership required a 24-month commitment but assured me that I could cancel at any time for a $200 penalty. They also mentioned that Anytime Fitness has locations across the U.S., and if I moved to another state, I could cancel without penalty if I wasn’t satisfied with the service at the new location. This was confirmed by several points in the contract, which seemed reasonable, so I decided to give Anytime Fitness a try.

After about nine months, I moved to Ohio and transferred my membership to the Anytime Fitness location in Hudson. Unfortunately, my experience at the new gym was far from satisfactory. During my first meeting, the gym owner made inappropriate comments about my nationality (I am an immigrant) and discussed his political views, which made me uncomfortable. On top of that, the facilities in Hudson were not comparable to what I had in San Jose. I could have joined a much better gym nearby with a pool and fitness classes for half the price.

Due to an injury and dissatisfaction with the new location, I decided to cancel my membership. I made multiple calls to the gym owner, explaining my situation, and I followed up with an email requesting cancellation. The owner initially confirmed via email that he had canceled my contract renewal. However, after several attempts to reach him, he later claimed he didn’t know how to cancel my membership and continued to charge me monthly fees without addressing my cancellation request.

In frustration, I had to block my credit card to stop the charges, which resulted in a significant loss of credit limit. Despite this, the gym continued to contact me, demanding payment for a contract I had already tried to cancel. They eventually threatened to report my credit, claiming I owed $1,100. I am now facing the possibility of legal action, as I am unable to get the gym to honor the terms of my contract, which clearly allowed me to cancel under circumstances like moving to a new state and being injured. I would strongly advise anyone considering an Anytime Fitness membership to think twice. Based on my experience, they do not uphold the terms of their contracts, and canceling a membership—especially under legitimate circumstances—can be incredibly difficult and frustrating.

About the Northborough MA branch: I wish I could give 0 stars because of the stress it is to SIMPLY CANCEL THE MEMBERSHIP. They charge 60% or $150 minimum of the remaining balance. Anytime Fitness was the closest to me two months before planet fitness opened right across from where I live. Ughh!! I was then stuck to them. My mother started her membership with planet fitness, paid $10/mo, cancelled a couple months later with absolutely no stress while I’m still stuck to this horrible gym paying $40 bucks a month and having to pay $100+ to simply cancel. FYI: This 60% policy is not even on their contract. If you want to save money and energy, think a little more before considering anytime fitness.

Been with the club since 3/1/2023. It's a fitness club in Tempe, AZ on Scottsdale Road, with a clueless manager who caters to youth only. Uninterested in resolving health and safety issues for special populations that can easily be resolved for the general good. Spends most of his time on his cellphone in his office. Bathrooms are very dirty when seniors work out, typically the early AM and especially on Mondays (I'm also assuming weekends when staff is not there).

I've asked the manager to please become more aware of the health issues at least three times. Regional manager also refuses to deal with the issues and instead, terminated my membership "to protect my health." That's unacceptable as they should be making the minor changes necessary for an inclusive experience for everyone (non-toxic solvents, sealed off construction zones to protect from dust, well-stocked and clean restrooms early AM and weekends). Don't recommend this center or the other two affiliated centers in Scottsdale and Phoenix, particularly for Silver Sneakers and Silver&Fit members.

Each time I worked out I couldn't walk or sleep because my back and hip hurt so badly. They will only let you out of the contract if they permanently disable you!!!! You have 2 days to decide if this is for you or not!! For a company that is supposed to stand for wellness they have failed miserably! They will charge me $150 early cancelation and a HUGE portion of my membership over a 2 year period!!! You can early term cancel, which includes $150 cancel fee, 20% remaining agreement value and a 30-day notice and in case you don't think that's a lot let me break it down for you. $1268.80 + $150 + $252 = $1670.8 FOR BEING INJURED AND HAVING TO SPEND EVEN MORE FOR CHIROPRACTIC WORK.

I ignored their emails because I cancelled. Now they put me on debt collections saying I owe for six months. The collections told me I should have paid for March because I had to wait 30 days until my membership was cancelled and since I stopped the payment they rejected my cancellation. They never once called or in my email explained to me that was what I needed to do. I tried calling them but they never answered or got back to resolve this. I am still trying to call to no avail.

We went into the anytime fitness in the heights to see what differentiates it from planet fitness. We found out that the only discernible differences are about $90 a month, and a much less pleasant staff. The salesman that was manning the gym when we got there insisted that the price is so high because of the quality of coaching you’ll get. We even signed up for the more expensive $37 biweekly package. He never gave us a copy of the agreement or anything so we didn’t see that he signed us up for the $50 but said it was the $37 biweekly agreement. Come to find out that there really isn’t any coaching that you wouldn’t get a planet fitness. Also you’ll notice we signed up for the $37 biweekly but we’re paying $50 bi weekly.

If you’re wondering why that is then, join the club. We went in to ask why we’re being charged $26 more a month than we were told, and were promptly told to leave by the rudest scowl behind a set of wide rimmed readers that I’ve ever seen. She so graciously informed us through her gritted teeth that “any cancelations, changes, or disputes are handled by a third party, not us. I couldn’t help but ask why they can sign us up for stuff we didn’t avenge after to right there at the gym, why can’t they see why our bill is so high with out having to go through a their party? At that point she only grinned and said “there’s the door. Oh, and have fun dealing with the third party”. I asked for her name and manager but she refused to give it. I found out her name is Kelly. She said she’s the manager, but she’s not on the list of managers for that branch, or any branch, that I can find.

I joined Anytime Fitness about a year and a half ago, maybe a little longer. The monthly membership is pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for there. Small, smelly, mostly older roided out looking men and elderly people with limited equipment. The staff, including management, is made up of individuals who are actually quite polite although they look to be around 16-18 years old and they have no authority to actually do anything. They advertised a 6 week "boot camp" class which I thought sounded like a fun idea, so I signed up. What I wasn't told, is that it was $240 a month and it was a one-year commitment, whether you attended the classes or not, you would be charged an additional $240 monthly for an entire year on top of your regular membership just for the option to go in 3 days per week to do a one hour class with 3 elderly people and a trainer.

After the 6 week class, I realized that definitely was NOT worth an extra $240, and for the last year I've been fighting with management to cancel that from my membership to no avail. They've assured me it cannot be canceled, but then told me multiple times they'll make an exception for me so I've filled out several "cancellation" forms, yet it's been about a year and I woke up this morning to yet another $240 charge to my bank account just like clockwork.

This is a nightmare, I hate this gym, I hate the environment, and I think a business model that swindles members is incredibly shady and lacks any resemblance of integrity or customer service. I've been a member of many different gyms over the years and always had a great experience. Not at Anytime Fitness, I regret joining them every day, especially the day every month they charge me $240 for classes I've not attended and have been trying to cancel for a year. When I asked them to cancel because I could not afford it anymore I was laughed at and told no can do. Then I get stuck paying extra money I can't afford right now just to not hurt my credit rating. I was paying almost $50 a month for a shitty membership that was a waste of time because there was never any room to work out. They always held classes at prime times so there were dozens of people crammed in. But since they paid extra for classes they got dibs on equipment and space. I go back to gym with proof of my cancellation and the gym still refuses to correct this! 3 times I've gone back to this gym and nothing's done about this. I returned later in the week for my cancellation appointment and made clear my wish to cancel. This was September 25th. On October 6th, I was charged again via automatic withdrawal. On October 20th, I was charged a second time since cancellation appointment in person. I have no problem with the gym facilities but customer service, especially for those wishing to cancel, is unacceptable. Buyer Beware.

I was given assurance that my membership was canceled, but without my knowledge, they took money out of my account for the next two months, and when asked for the reason, they said they did not cancel my membership since the status was pending. How was the status pending for two months? After a brief discussion, the office said they had canceled the membership but could not repay the two months' gym fees taken from my account. After 11 months, they started charging again and now had sent me an email that they would send it to collections if I didn't pay. I am still outside the US, but the company has started charging me again after 11 months and threatening collections if I don't pay. What is wrong with this company?

A copy of the contract was sent to an old email address that I haven't used in 2 years. But the information to use the Anytime app was sent to my current email account. Ultimately I discovered I had signed a one-year contract at $200/month. When I asked about the $200 I was told $100 was for the ability to attend classes offered there. I had never heard of any gym charging extra to attend classes. They refused to work with me in dropping my membership to $60 and not attending any classes. I could not afford $200/month. Ultimately I had to buy out my one-year membership for $1,800. I would never consider another membership with Anytime Fitness.

I signed up for Anytime Fitness on 5-21-2022 in Aptos, California club #559. The day I signed up about 5 min after I completed signing and touring the club a customer approached the Gym Manager about raw sewage flooding the locker rooms. I was extremely apprehensive at this point because that is disgusting and shows just how poorly that particular gym is ran. Since I already signed the contract and was not told by the manager (Andrew **) that I had a 7 day cool down period to where I could cancel the membership without being billed. If I was told this information upon signing up I would have canceled the membership that day.

Ok moving forward a few days after signing up I contracted COVID-19 which led to shortness of breath and trouble breathing in general. With my health situation changing I felt going to the gym would be not only selfish because of the risk of me infecting others but also the discomfort I was feeling from walking up a flight of stairs or even just walking to my vehicle to get to work. With this being said I never used or utilized the gym membership that I recently signed up for (my key fob has never been used and the gym records reflect that). Without me using the gym even once I decided to contact the gym manager and to cancel my gym membership. The club manager contacted me back and told me that in order to do this I would need a letter from a doctor. I contacted the gym manager back and let him know that I didn’t need a doctor's letter to signup for the gym and I don’t think I should need one in order to cancel my membership.

I was told by the gym manager (Andrew) that the only way to cancel my membership is with that letter so he refused to cancel my membership. Within a day of that email from Andrew I started receiving harassing calls from ABC Financial regarding non payment on a gym membership that I have never used and that I don’t plan on using. Canceling a gym membership for unforeseen circumstances during a pandemic should not be this difficult.

I was actually thinking of renewing the membership once I started to feel like myself again but after this horrific experience I will never again hold a membership with Anytime Fitness and will tell anyone and everyone I know to not hold a gym membership with Anytime Fitness. I need to speak with or correspond with someone that can help me with the cancellation of this gym membership before it’s sent to collections and affects my credit. This is the worse experience I’ve ever had pertaining to a gym and there needs to be something done about it immediately.

Gyms, by their very nature, include people huffing and puffing in very close proximity. There’s increasing evidence that aerosol transmission is an important factor in coronavirus infection, meaning that social distancing might not be enough in poorly ventilated areas. Although masks can theoretically help, they can be uncomfortable to wear during hard cardio workouts, their efficacy decreases as they become wet and sweaty. I was also concerned about rising Delta variant cases in Alberta during this time, because all of that I have requested many times to freeze or Cancel my membership hoping that things will be better, but it seems like it's worst.

I was expecting a good response from anytime fitness, but instead, I have received a call from a collection company asking me to pay 3 months' fees in order to cancel my membership!!. while the club has closed due to COVID-19 restrictions for 5 or 6 months during 2020 and 2021 and that was not mentioned in the contract!!, and my membership was over during that time. That was terrible customer service. You just lost a good paying customer. He DID refund me for that month of $55 and a month's worth of classes of $80. He did send an email and APOLOGIZED, but confronting me in the gym around other members was super unprofessional (maybe he was having a bad day, but at least take me into the office to talk about it). You don't treat someone paying 135 a month like that.

They need to work on how they deal with people. If you can't handle customer complaints you are in the wrong business. I am now going to join the McCandless location. I don't want to ruin this business. I just want them to know what they did was not okay and to correct it. I lost 40lbs in this gym and was advertised on the previous trainers Facebook page about my weight loss. I am success story, but I will not tolerate how I was treated. I do hope they will look at this situation so this won't happen to another member.

The owner reluctantly agreed. Turns out the owner lied and is currently trying to send my contract to collections. I opened my membership with Anytime Fitness under a 2 year agreement that converted to a month-to-month. The month-to-month was converted during COVID. After a few months of charges, I tried canceling. They would not allow me to cancel and would not return emails/phone calls. They required us to come in person to cancel in writing. I had sent several emails and left messages again, none of which were returned and so I stupidly thought my membership was canceled. We changed credit cards in this process and I didn't think of it. I got a notice today from a debt collection service for 6 months of membership. I am now trying to navigate this and all their manager would say is that I still have to follow their procedures and they were "very" supportive of people during that time.

Unworkable, honestly. I sought out a personal trainer to recover from a knee injury. A manager oversold me a package of "8" to sell a lower price point, $34.95 instead of $44.95. Soon after, a trainer got me sick from working closely together, then quit. The gym shutdown with "covid". They continue deducting these training sessions @ 298$ each draining a bank account + $40 monthly fee to a point where my bank account was getting fees. During such time I resourced different options/continued exercises, etc to recovery.

I completed 32 session with 39 paid sessions left. I've spoken many different times with the manager about this and he blows it off or states maybe at the best they can do is take one of those paid sessions off or transfer to another person. When this is their practice who would logically recommend that? So, Essentially this is around 1300k that he "missold" when we goal set. Doesn't acknowledge this. Offered to pay the higher amount on sessions used but they already "took" the money so they don't care.

Understandably neither knew this "covid crisis" would come. However, they still do not follow precautions, masking, point a liability waiver, oversell, have no respect or regard for a true concern or to fix they're mistakes or acknowledge they oversold by 39 sessions/monthly fees 1300k and not even do much of anything. Honestly, online workouts are much more effective. Even if one has a personal, specific goal like I had, they're honestly worthless. Very much so to the point I feel uncomfortable being there after goal or feel a need to close my account due to their access to as their total disregard make me end all relations to protect it. I mean the trainers are nice, fun. I can completely understand why they quit if it's business practice is so off right now.

It's absolutely wrong, they reel you in at a point of need & take advantage mercilessly & refuse to attune their business practice. I would very much avoid! I mean to me, easy fix. $44.95 for the sessions used refund the monthly during shutdown & the overselling, I'd recommend. For any future need or anyone need personal attunement to get through an injury, reach a goal, etc. But no way, stay away.. But it's a real bad vibes practice at the moment. Unfortunately but honestly.

Thank you for your attention to this matter in advance. I am an Australian Resident, and a resident of India as well. Due to Covid and family circumstances, I flew back to Kolkata from Melbourne in the month of July. I joined another brand for Gym, in Kolkata since then and continued working out in the gym there until 20th November.

On 21st November I visited the Anytime Fitness, Gariahat Branch (upon reference from a friend and a brand goodwill image that I carried of whilst I was in Australia). At the reception, upon asking for various packages, I was told that the monthly package is Rs10,260/- equivalent to AUD 200 ( approx) and Yearly charges were Rs 27,000 approx. I was not given any rate chart as they mentioned that there is NO RATE CHART SYSTEM. I was also told by one of the girls at the reception that the Contract Agreement will be couriered to my address. I opted for the monthly charge as I mentioned to the receptionist that I will be back in Melbourne soon. I was not given any rate chart which is a usual/mandatory process upon joining. I carried on every day work out since that day and my visiting timings were between 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm IST.

Today at 4.29 PM IST (approx), when I finished my workout, I saw The COO of the company in his cabin and I walked in upon request. I asked him as to why the monthly charges are different from one branch to another in the same city, (as one of my family friend, who works out in the Salt Branch Gym pays Rs20000 annually approx).

INCIDENT: COO of the Franchise Owner, Gariahat Branch, Kolkata, upon asking my question started raising his voice while addressing my query and started to intimidate me by saying that I do not know the city rules, and that I have no clue of the per square feet area cost, and that real estate prices vary and his tone was leading towards threatening and intimidating one.

I started getting very scared and I walked out of the cabin and I approached the general reception area where there were two girls and CTO. I was feeling very nervous by his intimidating behavior and was speechless to understand that my right to ask about my monies that I spend towards the fees was not entertained. The girls at the reception were aware of the uncomfortable incident that is happening and they comforted me and mentioned that they will call the COO to address the matter in a better way. COO came to the reception after 10 minutes of my waiting, and he started threatening me by saying that "Go get lost", "Do what you can". "I have CCTV footage and I can delete" and he walked off.

This incident has scared me as much as got me traumatized. I have sent several emails to the AF HQ India, and as of now, there have been no such evidential/concrete steps taken to identify and resolve this matter. I was told to contact the owners of the Franchise for Gariahat Branch, which I did, and to my dismay, they were constantly trying to pressure me to believe that I am wrong. The Branch Manager of that gym did witness the wrongdoings by the management, and upon speaking up he was fired from his role. A NEVER VISIT OR NEVER PURCHASE BRAND, THIS IS UNFORTUNATELY.

The class instructors went downhill and then they eliminated the free classes I enjoyed and replaced with individual paying classes that were not at convenient times for me. I did them for a while but they were not a great value for someone who was self-motivated. All this before COVID. Bear in mind I had used for years and just paid monthly, supposedly not locked in to any number of years to cancel. I went to office to cancel membership for husband and self at first of year Covid inklings as they were not using masks or social distancing and was convinced to put on hold and not cancel because of fees to cancel.

Now I am charged (November) annual renewal fees on accounts and since one of the credit cards has been changed, a late fee of 44$ (even though it is only 14 days late when they notified me via a collection service of a $15 charge). To cancel, we have to reactivate both accounts, pay a months fee for each (30+32$) and THEN they will cancel in 30 days. So $44 + 15 + 30+32 = $121 to cancel. ANYTIME FITNESS is like a backloaded investment. I was only paying monthly but the contract protocol and fees to cancel is ridiculous and ongoing. Anytime Fitness is ruining their goodwill and reputation by enforcing this policy. I am not under any Covid related duress but I can have empathy for all the members who are facing similar frustrations and are being held hostage by a gym. Many people do not feel comfortable going back to the gym at this time; especially if they or their family memberships have autoimmune issues. My brother had cancer recently and my parents are in their 80s. Multiple Managers did not respond to messages (I have screenshots and emails). After being charged while the gym was closed, I called their financial company who immediately took out my card info and said they would notify management that I needed to cancel or delay my membership until the gym opened/after the pandemic.

ABC financial said they are powerless to make any concessions for the pandemic and closed gym. They said I had to speak to the managers who did not respond for months. They then sent my account to collections demanding a full year of membership (over $500) - after showing them evidence of gym closure and texts showing I reached out to managers who were no longer there - they spoke to Anytime managers and they offered only a $70 credit. I already paid through March 25 (January 1 through March 25 was the last payment) and then they were closed for months. Why would they charge me over $500 for a full 12 months? And why would I have had to resume my membership immediately?

Hundreds of thousands of people are dying and many have contracted it at the gym; confined space with heavy breathing and low ventilation. If they had responded with a reasonable resolution at any point, I would likely have re-started my membership in 2021 or after vaccination. I feel this is a very unfair and unethical business practice.

Of course no one answered so I left a message to cancel my membership due Anytime Fitness closures as well as I wouldn’t go and risk my life to catch Covid-19.

They charged my card about 5 days after I called for March 2020 dues! I called again early June when the state started opening to ensure it was cancelled and not to be charging my card. I am now receiving threats from Anytime Fitness that they will send $87.16 to collections and to the credit for a membership that was cancelled due to covid pandemic! Now mind, they charged me for March 2020, June 2020, July 2020, August 2020 - $38.83. I don't even live in Minneapolis by this location, told them that on the voicemail I left in March 2020 when I moved and it was the beginning of pandemic!

Again, I am not going to a gym threatening my life during a covid pandemic. Anytime never contacted me at the end of June 2020 stating they will resume charges, they just started charging my card again out of nowhere. I figured because I called and left messages I was ok as they may have been closed still, also I live almost 30 minutes away now. I want my entire membership refunded for this year and get the hell out of your system! With a series of managers or stand-ins they proved to be inept at maintaining a clean facility. Since her departure the facility was always in need of cleaning, meaning the covey holes were dirty and appeared to be used as trash receptacles, the equipment had more than a few dried sweat stains. There was dried gum, dirty clothes, smelly socks, and gym shorts tossed into the covey holes. The bathrooms were seldom clean and smelled. I observed trainers working with clients on various machines, and never did I see the trainer or client wipe down any equipment when finished, I guess they were leading by example. During Covid-19, I observed the same conduct by patrons and staff.

There are signs at the front of the facility in reference to face covering/mask, what a freaking joke. No one wore the masks or even attempted to wear them coming in or departing the gym. In my opinion Anytime Fitness, and it’s staff is a joke when it comes to cleanses, safety, and following the CDC guidelines. I’ve seen the staged videos of staff cleaning, and that’s all they are “staged.” Most patrons I observed are not cleaning after themselves and the staff members are not requiring them to adhere to gym etiquettes. Do as you will, do as you want, it’s your life, however in my opinion Anytime Fitness is a squalor.

Hands down, my AF club has the friendliest, most competent, and least off-putting trainers and staff that I've ever encountered in a gym setting. I have yet to talk with a club member, in my three years of being a member there, who has bad things to say about ANY of the full time staff and trainers there.

The equipment is modern and well maintained. Plenty of cardio and free weights for 99% of the population. The free weight dumbbells go up to 100 lbs. All of the most modern equipment like Traxx, bands, Bosu, etc. Cleanliness: always a large stash of towels, disinfectant wipes, and reminders to use both liberally. Members beware! Due to the Coronavirus nobody is evil to attend Anytime Fitness which is very understandable. Anytime fitness is taking it upon themselves to extend people's contracts and charge them to cover their loss for being closed during the Coronavirus. When you sign a contract for one year and asked for it end at the end of your contract that is when it should end. My contract ends in July and they are going to extend it for 3 months and bill me for their losses during the Coronavirus. Not my problem. I told them they better not charge me past the end of my contract. I believe this is it legal to extend everybody's signed contract to cover their losses. Somebody needs to look into this because this business is looking to make up thousands of dollars off a virus. Many businesses have lost money but when they reopen they're not go to charge their client for the months that they missed. I hope someone reaches out to them.

Can't speak for all of them but the Jeffersonville, IN branch. UPDATE 2/14/2020**** Well now that we are past the end of the year on the contract I was just going to let this gym experience go. It is a nice enough gym as long as you only go during the unstaffed hours. But, nope I should have read every word of the contract a lot closer. I even asked about end of contracting during the sign-up process and was told that it would not renew automatically but that starting 6 months before the end I would get emails to remind me to sign up for the next year.

They got me cause nope it goes month to month with the need for a hidden manual 30 day notice to cancel. I caught this on me Credit Card bill when charged after the contract end date. So, guess what. Even though we hardly have gone over there and don't plan to use it now for the family membership I not only have to pay the bill they took already but another one as well. So this is an extra $180.00 for something my family is not even using. Google review from shortly after I signed up below.

Honestly the gym itself is fine. The younger lady that works in the gym for most of the staffed hours is very nice and very helpful. But good grief NEVER call their number to ask for membership information. I called once before I joined. That day I went in and looked. The next day my wife and I joined with a $90 a month family membership. Since I have had no less than 8 (eight) called telling me I need to come in for a tour and join. Really!?! First, off if I had not joined I wouldn't after all the harassment. I have returned three of the calls to beg them to stop calling me.

Today Robert told me it was a system mistake that they will fix it and I will not get anymore calls. Ok?? So if I hadn't joined harassing me would be fine??Continuing to call when I have told you to stop would be fine?? His response was that posting this review would not be fair and that I would be surprised how many members they get from those repeated calls. So, if you value your number not being called over and over do NOT call them EVER!!!

I recently contacted the Anytime Fitness and Lebanon to discuss a senior's discount program that’s called Prime. It works the same as a program called Silver Sneakers. I was told that Anytime Fitness does not except the prime membership.

In checking the prime website it shows that the one in Beavercreek does accept it so I talk to the person Lebanon and explain to him that the other location did take it so since they say that if you belong one please you can use your Anytime Fitness at any other location which I have found is only true if you access the other location 51% of he time. So if you’re looking to get a membership at anytime fitness beware. Be very beware of what they tell you when you buy the membership. I had a membership to this gym for a couple years ago. When I got the membership I was never told anything like this. I was told without any doubt, "You can use this membership at any one of our gyms." I hadn’t been to Anytime Fitness for about a year because of neck and back injuries resulting from two motor vehicle accidents. I went into the store to cancel and the company representative wrote down an email to send a message to. I then wrote anytime three messages to cancel my membership, over a period of three weeks. All my messages were ignored. Keep in mind that I was no longer under contract.

I thought the process was over before the financial division of anytime fitness emailed and called me a couple of months later and told me I owed about $90 for the past couple of months. I told them that I cancelled and even emailed them the 3 emails that I had given them. They didn’t care and they also didn’t care that I was leaving the gym because of my injuries.

I told them that I wouldn’t pay them the money because of principle: I had the money but it wasn’t fair. They have since sent me to collections. My credit will. My credit will now be affected because of them. This is the worst company in the world. Imagine a company that won’t let you cancel, even though you aren’t even on contract. READ BEFORE YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT. I loved this gym until it was time to cancel. I called to cancel and went to the club to cancel. Then I was told to contact ABC financial, which has a horrible automation system. It took me over 10 minutes to talk to a real person. ABC financial tells me I have to give a 30 day notice of cancellation by writing a letter and will be charged any fees during that 30 day period. I've completed my 1 year membership so doesn't that mean my contract is over? I'm paying month to month so why would I have to give a month's notice if I don't want to pay next month? Especially, because this is a medical related cancellation and I am a month to month client that is current on all payments. You can't call the gym to cancel, you can't go to the gym to cancel and you can't call the 3rd party billing department to cancel. Nope, you have to write a letter!

All this to cancel a membership to a gym I haven't been able to attend since May 2018 due to a shoulder injury. I tried to cancel the membership in June 2018 and they talked me into freezing the membership for a couple of months. Tried to cancel again after that but they said I would need a letter from my doctor and talked me into another freeze on the account. Now this! Fast talking new perspective members into 'deals' that are only available that day (bs) then tie them into a 2 yr contract in which when it ends you are told the fine print states that if 30 days is not given you must pay for an extra month. With $10 memberships at other gyms where guests are welcome, shop around/or better yet, put all that money into a treadmill of your own. Eating right/good nutrition/smart food choices/proper amt of calories per day and you will not only loose weight at a faster rate, you will not loose a crap ton of money in the process. Regardless, the world could be coming to an end, and AF would still deem it mandatory that you continue the membership. The company has little concern for the human side of its clients. She then pressured me to freeze my membership when I told her I couldn’t afford to go on and pay the $46 per month. I have never even attended the gym more than four or five times in two years. Yet I faithfully paid my bill on time the contract said you had to write a letter two months before the membership is up, which I did, and hand-deliver it to the facility, which I did. Upon doing so Laura, the owner of Anytime Fitness pressured me into signing freeze my membership until February 1 of 2020. I did not really want to do it, but she persisted that and would not take no for an answer. She told me that I would not have to pay again, until February 1. Right then I asked her if I change my mind if I would get charged. She said, "No just stop by the gym and cancel before February."

So I found out I have to move to Florida, I stopped by the gym, and she would not talk to me. She made one of her new employees talk to me and he made me sign a paper and charge me 46 more dollars. The $46 was not to be charged. Again I asked the guy to have her call me and she never did. He agreed that what she did was wrong. So she practices unethical business practices and I would not recommend going to that facility. She overcharges you for a little small gym. This is a review for 1244 East Colfax, Denver. As the saying goes, buyer beware: I have a member agreement with Anytime Fitness. The member agreement provides for reciprocal access to other Anytime Locations. I visited this location a few times over the summer before ** called me and tried to talk me into "transferring" my home membership to her gym (and paying a higher fee). I spoke with my home gym here in Denver, and they told me I didn't need to transfer my home membership.

Fast forward a few weeks - I returned from visiting relatives and discovered my key didn't work. ** at first told me all was well, and then came over giggling and told me that she had cut off my access because I didn't want to accept her higher rate. The next day ** sent me the reciprocity provision from the standard agreement that Anytime uses. She said that provision explains her rationale for removing access. Unfortunately, the membership agreement (and that provision) does not provide any basis for removing access to a member in good standing. It merely provides a member may have to pay a higher rate if a transfer occurred. But if, as here, no transfer occurs, the status quo remains.

Most of the gyms are individually owned and operated, which Anytime Fitness now seem to claim means that no member can expect reciprocal access regardless of what the binding member agreement provides. Apparently, the reciprocity provision is enforceable against (and therefore applies to) only the single gym owner where the member is a home member, even though no mention of this is in the agreement. What they are trying to do here is make more money, but they also appear to be violating the terms of their own member agreements and potentially violating CO Laws governing health spas. It's easy to induce people with promises of reciprocal access to get them to join, but then when issues arise, they want to claim that the reciprocal access provisions are essentially meaningless.

I don't want to transfer my home gym location - not only is this location more expensive, but it is smaller, has fewer machines, and will be less convenient to me during the winter months. ** characterized this as a fairness issue, but it is really not about fairness. Many people have different rates for different reasons, including signing up during a promotion, like I did. The real issue is why do they continue to place these provisions in agreements with no clarifying language and when the owner entering the agreement is powerless to enforce it? So instead of ending 4 months earlier I had to pay for the new end date. In that time I was injured and doctor told me no activity. I provided a note but that does not matter. I am reviewing Anytime Fitness, Midtown (Georgia). Please keep in mind that all Anytime Fitness gyms are independently owned and operated, so this review is of the GA Midtown location and not Anytime Fitness as a whole. I have been going to this gym for 3 years. If you're not familiar, Anytime Fitness has individual bath/shower/changing rooms, and not the standard "locker room."

Over the years I noticed that things would break (fans, shower heads, equipment, etc.) and it would take a very long time to get fixed. I posted a review on Google Maps that specifically mentioned there had been no bench in the bathrooms, first one bathroom, then another, then another (at the time of review there were 3 out of 4 bathrooms with no bench -- or chair or any place to sit). The manager saw this review and deactivated my account. He agreed that I did not say anything in the review that was false. He seemed more put off that I posted a review instead of talking to him. However, the previous week I spoke to him about the benches (at the time there were 2 missing benches). He said he had ordered benches from Amazon but they came with the wrong hardware. At this time 1 bench had been missing for 2 months, and another bench missing for 1 month. I felt like letting a changing room go without a bench for 1 or 2 months was too long.

The next week I came in and not only were the new benches not yet there, an additional bench was missing. At this point, I posted the review. Let me mention, other than posting the review, I had been a model customer. I did not damage the equipment, I did not leave the bathrooms a mess, I did not complain to other patrons, I did not allow non-members in the gym (it's a problem they have). I don't think it's right that the owner "fired" me for posting a review that, although he didn't like, was factual.

Buried in the fine print folks! You CANNOT use “any” club! For you who travel, whatever club you frequent, when they randomly pull your two month segment of key swipes, will suddenly be your “home” club where your money goes. It’s IMPORTANT to know all clubs charge whatever monthly fee they want. You can find yourself randomly paying DOUBLE $$ what you contracted for, because your swipes show up at a club charging higher dues. Crappy surprise! Yes, it’s true. Call Corporate if you hear the FAKE sales pitch saying otherwise. Franchise Owners are given the right to “approve” moving a frequent visiting member into their bank roll. Some owners charge double what your sign-on originating club charges. Prices are not consistent!

Be aware Westlake Village Club in California is a very pricey club, and they will reach into your account for this deferentially inflated amount, or LOCK YOU OUT if you don’t allow it. Do not believe the hype about being the biggest club, it’s false information. My original club in Colorado is much bigger and HALF the cost! All verifiable. I pay a years membership cash in advance, to my local home club near my house. Westlake Village California will force you to pay their rate (which is double) or Lock your key access out.

BE WARY OF WESTLAKE VILLAGE CA Anytime Fitness business practice. Local Colorado club is bigger, and there are newer clubs and bigger that do not adhere to this business practice, though they all have the option. Anytime Fitness, is not actually "anywhere" you'd like to visit, like the sales pitch says unless you pay the fee differences between clubs. LOST SOME CUSTOMERS, and I hope many consumers become aware of the fine print.

Membership continued unknown to us until collection agency contacted us three months later for money payment for the months after the 12 month membership. No wonder their business has minimal customers and horrible ratings on various websites.

We have had a horrible experience with the gym. Joined the new location in BG when lived on the campus. In a few months after joining, we relocated to Perrysburg (15 miles), with another Anytime Fitness within 2 min from a new house. In a couple of months, a location in Perrysburg got closed and with a plenty of options in the area, joined another gym. After paying a membership for a couple of years and not attending Anytime Fitness at all in BG (15 miles away), we contacted BG location and asked to cancel a subscription due to non attendance.

The response was that the contract was signed (5 year term!!!) and we are obligated to pay regardless of attendance. To get out of the contract, the fee is $500 dollars. Went through all reasonable attempts to negotiate and getting a firm "no" from Anytime Fitness, we had put stop payments and even had to close the checking account because they were able to get through the system somehow. Now, this week, we have received a letter from a collection agency regarding $500+ dues. It is really a hell. So, my advice - please take time and read really careful the agreement to understand what you are getting into. As of me... Really don't know where to take it next.

I purchased the membership for me and my daughter almost two years ago. My daughter was a bit chubby at the time, so one of the trainers thought I should buy a fitness package for her. I refused. This fitness package the trainer suggested was extremely expensive, almost $1000 a month with a one-year obligation. I kept refusing, and she tried "every trick in the book" to sell me this package. It almost got embarrassing.

The trainer tried to shame my daughter because she enjoys bagels for breakfast. It didn't work. Then she wanted to be her friend and invited her to go hiking with her on a Saturday. She also tried to make me feel as an unfit mother because I didn't want to buy the fitness package for my daughter. I ended up NOT purchasing it, but I also stopped working out at Anytime Fitness in Camarillo. Most trainers in Ventura County ask for $100 a month with a one-year obligation! My daughter still works out, but she changed gyms in Camarillo. Future members of Anytime Fitness should not have to endure what I experienced.

I have joined twice. The 1st time the manager was a sleazeball and a liar. Did not go for 8 months due to a broken foot and whiplash. I had gone in in plaster after a car crash and spoke to the manager, who said my membership would be suspended until I was able to return. 8 months later I noticed he had continues to take the full £40 a month instead of the £5 agreed until I returned. When I spoke to him - and we are talking about an overcharge of £280 - I was told he never said that and basically said tough shift. Then when I wanted to cancel my membership he would not cancel it until I paid a month's notice. I have never been so disgusted by such a human leech before.

Needless to say I would never step back into an Anytime gym, or allow any of my friends to ever again! THEN a year later I noticed a new owner and went in to enlightened him to what a scumbag this manager was....Turns out he was long gone for just that being a scumbag. The new owner game me a much lower monthly rate and a new contract. Now I'm happy as can be. The gyms are great, the ability to be anywhere at any time and be able to go to a gym is priceless. I travel with work so gym, shower (with privacy), perfect. Yes you're going to get crappy guys, gyms, equipment but for the most part these guys are really good and believe me I've been around the block, practically every gym franchise of local at one time or another. For the size of the gym and the membership price you pay, it's not worth it. They rope you into getting a personal trainer and will harass you until you finally do join. I received a discount for a personal trainer and was training only once a week for just 30 minutes. My trainer acted as if they were too good to train me and for only 30 minutes, it felt like I barely worked out. There was no explanation of the benefits of the exercises and the purpose.

When I told the the trainer I just wanted to tone up and not look like a supermodel, for some reason they got upset. I told them of my previous injuries but they disregarded them. Then they asked if I wanted to train twice a week instead of one and when I said yes they took me in the office to start working on my schedule. They didn't tell me until after we had set up a time that they would charge me an addition $60. To train ONCE a week they were charging me $120. Then for an additional $60 they would train me twice a week. I gave my trainer work schedule and told them it was necessary for me to train in the morning because I have two young children. They would book me for various time slots throughout the day and not be consistent.

When I showed up to train one day he was training someone else in my timeslot and they said "I forgot you were in my book". He didn't even attempt to get me in at all during the day. I had to stop training because of knee issues so when I tried to tell the girl I signed up with she told me I couldn't because I was locked into a 12 month program. So now I'm paying for sessions I can't use for medical reasons because they are greedy for money. They completely disregarded my doctor's note as well.

From the club owner to the terrible "club administrator" Anytime Fitness is a gym you should stay far far away from. They claim to be an "anytime" gym but they are far from it. The club manager does not have access to any financial information and does not deal with anything membership related (so I'm not sure what she really does as a "manager"). There is a separate department for membership inquiries that communicated only via email and takes two full business days to respond.

The key fob system has errors and doesn't work properly so if you join a 24/7 access gym be prepared to sometimes not have access to the gym unless you go during staffed hours. The equipment is similar to what you would find in an old basement gym put together by a few weekend garage sale hunts (except for the personal training area which is always taken by personal trainers). Overall the club has potential but the archaic approach of email only to an "administrator" who takes two FULL business days to respond to a simple request can lead to a tremendous amount of headaches.

Honestly, this has been the worst most stressful gym I’ve ever been to. My fiancé and I went here for $60, I made a deal with the owner to clean the gym once a week to make our bill only $30. Every single month the owner broke our agreement and charged us $48. He’s lucky we didn’t take legal action for breaking the contract for MONTHS. The owner of this gym is very disrespectful, I fully expect him to reply to this in a disrespectful way. We ended up moving, we brought a lease in to prove the move, the owner said we were making it up??? And we need a utility bill. So we went and got a utility bill and we even brought our landlord in for even more proof, the owner then proceeded to yell at our landlord and kicked a 63 year old man out into the cold.

We proceeded to cancel the membership and he told us to sit down, I said kindly “I’m okay. I’ve been sitting all day at work.” He proceeded to say “If you aren’t going to sit down you can leave.” The owner Ryan is the most arrogant, disrespectful man I’ve EVER met. Those are only a few of the horror stories we’ve had dealing with him.

First of all, they are e-mailing my 16 yr old daughter. My name is not Abigail. I am extremely disappointed because there was some apparent confusion when I signed up for this membership. First of all, I made many attempts to contact them by telephone to cancel my membership, no one ever answered. So I began e-mailing. When I did get someone to respond, the man just said, "well, I have been here all day and you never called." Not very professional at all. I called several times.

I thought I could cancel my membership at any given time. The man that explained things to me, did so via a phone call while I was in his office. He was not there. Another worker got him on the phone to speak with me because apparently, the staff did not know how to sign up new members. He spoke so often and quickly, I could barely get a word in. He never once mentioned that the plan I chose (said to be the cheaper of the 2) was a contract that I could not cancel. If he had, I would have stopped it right there. He told me I would have to get a doctors note before they could cancel if my reason for canceling was a health problem. Otherwise I owe for a full 18 months whether I use the service or not.

This is absolutely ridiculous. This is not how a reputable company does business. They should not have done it over the telephone and speak in such a way that the client can't get a word in or remember the questions they had by the time they do get to speak? That should have been my cue to walk away right then but I did not think much of it at the time. If I were ever told that I would not be able to cancel my membership, I would not have agreed.

Now they charge my bank account each month and take money for a service I do not even use, have never used and do not want. How is this right? I tried to cancel maybe 2 weeks after I signed up. I paid cash when I signed up and told them I would be paying cash. They still required my bank information. Now I see why. This way, they can just keep taking a person's money regardless of the circumstances. I am pretty certain this is stealing. Especially considering I was railroaded into a "Contract", with no knowledge of these consequences. So now, I have been an unwilling member going halfway into the second month and still have not stepped foot inside the building since the day I signed up. They charge my bank account taking money that should not have been touched and still will not cancel my account.

The man tells me on the phone, "I am the one that spoke with you. I told you about the contract." But no, he never once told me anything about not being able to cancel my membership. If anyone ever said to me, (this is a contract, if you chose to cancel your membership, you will still be required to pay for the full term) I would have not chosen that plan. This is absolutely wrong on so many levels.

I joined the Anytime Fitness, Bullhead City, Arizona in December, 2018 and have been there every day (7 days/week) since. During the first week, I asked the manager about the preset TV channels on the cardio machines. He said to me that when the college football is over he will shuffle the channels. He lied. Another lie: he said he would install a pull-up bar by the west wall. He has not.

Another regular member and I discussed about the book-reader always on the same treadmill. The book-reader leaves books and belongings on the machine and goes away - I timed her absence once for over 15 minutes while doing my running on the next treadmill - I say over 15 minutes because when I got on the treadmill she was not on the machine, only the books and belongings. Sometimes, she disappears more than once - I know this because I'm on the next machine waiting for her machine. That is the only machine that won't terminate my run at 60 minutes. I don't want a machine to dictate my workout.

Apparently, that regular member told the manager about monopolizing the treadmill by the book-reader. Nothing has changed to this day, 2/15/2019. There is no locker at this gym, so I have to carry everything, car-key, wallet, money, etc., in my gym bag to every workout station. I belonged to a gym my entire adult life and this is the first gym where I carry my gym bag everywhere. The manager, the first day, said to me to leave them in my car. There is one nasty young woman personal trainer who works there. That is another story. There must be a better gym than this one.

Gary (I believe Singh is his real name) met with us to sign the enrollment papers. He was very manipulative and we had no idea that this was a 3 yr contract or else we would have never agreed. We now realize a copy of the contract was never sent to us, partly our fault for not following up.

I recently went into the inquiring about how to cancel our membership due to personal reasons, we were given an email address. The trainer on staff could not answer basic questions, did not how to process a cancellation or even a phone number of who to talk to. It took multiple back to back emails, attempts at getting them to schedule a call with me (did not call during the time frame we discussed), and a meeting scheduled at the gym (Gary was supposed to meet me there at 5pm, never showed) to finally cancel my membership. They did not take any ownership of the issues they caused or remorse for missing schedule appointments.

They charged me $299 to cancel the membership and acted like I was getting deal. They also charge $35 two times a year for a "maintenance fee", another way they are just trying to get more money. Do yourself a favor and join a different gym where the owners respect people's time and maybe reach out for the cancellation reason. Since I started, I have seen 2 managers come in, one of them Dani and the other unfortunately I cannot remember the name, but both extremely polite and kind and the gym was always clean. Since I started, I have brought 30 of my colleagues to this gym because it is very convenient for us to attend it during our break. I'm not the kind of person who likes to leave negative feedback anywhere, but unfortunately my displeasure with the new manager Arran ** gave me no other option. When he started to work, the bathrooms that used to be always clean, began to get disgusting. I wrote a note and put it in the suggestion box to clean the shower curtains and wash the floor with bleach as it was very dirty.

Because of a problem in my knee, I have to avoid using heavy equipment, so I use the room with virtual classes all the time. The computer is not working already for two weeks and the response from the manager was "I have already ordered". One of my colleagues asked when it would arrives and he replied, "when it arrives, arrives." Absolutely unacceptable answer coming from a manager.

Today, after 2 weeks without being able to use the gym, I went to ask the "manager" Arran ** (if we can say this is a manager), about the computer for the classes and he said he already ordered and it come from another country and also his ironic answer was, "the gym has other equipment, do you know? Do you want me to teach you how to use them?" I asked the email of his superior or the owner of the academy to express my displeasure against Arran ** and he said he would not give me, so here I am writing this "book" as feedback and hoping that the owner or a responsible person by Anytime Fitness in Bramhall will read this. One thing for sure, I will no longer present even a friend to this academy while this manager is there and hope that this feedback also makes Arran understand that as a manager, this is not the best way to treat the customers.

I joined the Abingdon branch in Jan this year as this was the only 24h gym in the area and I prefer to go late during the evenings due to my anxiety. I phoned the gym in around May to freeze my membership for 1-2 months due to going away on holiday which was fine and it was done without any issues. I called again just before September wanting to cancel my membership due to a medical condition and was told that I'll have to obtain a letter from my GP (due to 12 month contract) however until then they will freeze my account for 3 months. They also said since I was calling so close to beginning of September, The direct debit for September will still come out as normal however it will be taken as final payment when your membership is cancelled. I don't see why I should have to pay for September however I agreed none the less.

Since I had 3 months not to mention I'm quite busy working 7 days a week, I decided to get a letter from my GP during my next check up mid October however I noticed the Gym taking Octobers payment when they should not have. I called in to the gym about this and was initially told to call before 4PM to speak to the manager about this as he works 10-4. I called in the following day and the manager refused to help at all. He claimed I was lying and they have no record of my account being frozen and to pop in the gym if I need to discuss further and hung up. I've since contacted them on Facebook and they have refused to help me and my account is STILL active meaning they are intending to take Novembers payment (which they bloody well won't as I'll be cancelling - £39 doesn't grow on trees).

The gym is refusing to freeze my account even still and they have the cheek to tell me that even if I provide them with written notice of cancellation + GP letter, they will still take November + December payment and won't issue a refund to my Door fob deposit. I work pretty hard for my money and don't intend these frauds to take my hard earned money hence I'm intending to go to court. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAND!

I joined this gym because it was close to home. I needed core strengthening after a back fusion. I hired a trainer on top of the already monthly fee. Within 2 weeks I was losing the feeling in my legs. I had to get a doctor excuse to temporarily stop my membership. I ended the membership because I couldn’t return there due to health issues. Long story short 2 years later I find out they were still taking my money out of the bank. I could hardly ever reach anyone in the office. This place is a joke. They refused to refund any portion of my money. Even after my key wouldn’t give me access to the gym once I cancelled my membership.

I joined the gym and paid a year in advance. I found the gym easy to use and began working out. The facility was often dirty and I had a difficult time finding someone in the office during advertised times. They don’t have lockers, just shelves to put your items in. I brought my phone in my gym bag and had it stolen. The gym was helpful in pulling up video and identified the thief. It was a nightmare. Replacing phone, canceling credit cards/bank cards, filing police report, etc. I run a business from my phone so that was a real problem. I did return to the gym to work out but felt very unsafe and was constantly looking over my shoulder.

I attempted to contact the gym many times and was transferred to multiple people to see if I could get a refund for the rest of year as I no longer felt safe at their gyms. Several months later I still have not even got a final response. Disgusted with their lack of assistance. Even if they were not going to refund they could at least have let me know.

When I got zero response other than "Oh well we cannot please everyone", I send in a comment to the corporate office. The next time I went to the gym I was met with hostility! I was shamed and bullied by the cleaning lady and owner while I was trying to work out over a piece of toilet paper I supposedly dropped! I was so taken aback to attempted to talk to the cleaning lady who told me it was not her job to clean up after sloppy adults! She was rude and the owner and the cleaning lady literally bullied and shamed me because I asked them to clean the gym!

For the past year this has been a good gym to workout at, clean, never a wait for machines and friendly staff. However, they never informed us of the rollover to a second year and club fees for new equipment added. I tried to cancel my husband and son's accounts and had to put in a disputed with my credit card company to stop the fees coming. Now the gym says if I don’t repay those fees the accounts become active again for another year??? I want to cancel all 3 accounts now because I have to have a face to face with the franchise owner because there is no corporate to argue with. Not happy with all the hidden hoops to jump through.

I signed a one year contract in 2014, and decided to cancel in 2018 for medical reasons. When I went to cancel and turn in my key fob, I was instead given a 30 day written notice to sign -- but I thought it was a cancellation notice. The form was not filled out when I left, and I honestly thought it was a cancellation notice. The representative explained that she was going to get another month ($47 dollars) either way. Now if I had not turned in that key fob, I would have been charged $47 for it. So this is not in reality a 30 day notice, otherwise I would be able to use the facilities, which I cannot because I had to turn in that precious key fob. A notice indicates that I would be able to continue using the facilities.

This is an incredibly deceptive business practice. I am disputing it with the Bettter Business Bureau and now a manager who claims that he went over this with me -- but in reality I have never met -- is also claiming that I threw the keys at him. What keys? This key fob is about the size of a quarter, and much smaller. I slid it across the desk, and the representative took it. I don't know who these people are, but they will stop at nothing to get this $47!

ABC Financial handles payments for Anytime Fitness here in Michigan. Evidently they are no stranger to problems with gym payments, cancellations and charges. The Michigan attorney general’s office has filed a lawsuit against Family Fitness after taking nearly 300 complaints this year. (Sept. 26, 2017). There is another gym membership business that may be guilty of the same practices as Family Fitness: ANYTIME FITNESS. I was taken into a tiny office and hard sold on a ONE YEAR MEMBERSHIP with Anytime Fitness of Farmington Hills, MI. only to find out recently that via their deceptive sales techniques I had been put into a 2 YEAR MEMBERSHIP without my awareness.

Then they put you in a essentially bogus contract that they can use to ruin your credit and suck money from you for nothing which is EXACTLY what they have done to me since I asked to cancel personal training and my gym membership this past April. Not only did the franchise owner, Khan, (perfect name for him) REFUSE to cancel the personal training (which he had already charged me $250 Cancellation Fee due to his personal trainer being fired or terminated) he continued to take money from my bank account month after month for the membership and personal training NONE of which I have received.

Now he continues to assert that due to the deceptive sales presentation wherein I was told that I was joining his gym for ONE YEAR, but it was actually for 2 years due to their deceptive AUTOMATIC RENEWAL bullet that they slyly slip into the contract, I owe him for another year's membership in his gym that I have not stepped foot in for months. I recently sent him via Certified Mail, an Intention to Sue Letter for the charges he has made to me for Personal Training I never received due to his employee being terminated and he REFUSED to refund or apply to my membership. I requested cancellation of a 2nd group training after that due to his unscrupulous handling of the first agreement. He took a cancellation fee from my co-worker but REFUSED to allow me to cancel it and has charged me for MONTHS.

I have paid over $1000 for nothing and now I find that I have been tricked into a 2 YEAR MEMBERSHIP when I was told it was for ONE YEAR. Time for a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT such as the one that has been filed here in Michigan against Family Fitness which has engaged in the exact same kind of deceptive practices. Have you been negatively financially impacted by deceptive practices of Anytime Fitness franchise owners? Please contact me. We are going to get our money back!

On the contract it states I can notify the finance company so I gave them 30 days notice in writing. I got a call from the collections company 6 months later, the gym had continued to try to collect and it was now in collections. I called the Brampton location and spoke to Lauren the manager, and she said I was not allowed to notify the finance company so they didn't honor my cancellation. I explained that it is right in the contract which she obviously never read. She said if I prove it she will remove the collections. I sent her a copy of my contract showing that I can cancel with finance company. She didn't remove the collections which call me daily now, and she won't return calls. Stay away from this company!

I said, "Well I don't want to argue anymore and my debit card expires next month..." They warned me via e-mail that "my CC runs out next month" so I called my bank and asked for a new debit card with a new number... Finally the billing stopped. Then a month later they billed me under my new debit card for $119.80 and they said if I decided not to continue I would have to pay $500+ to get out of the contract... It's a ruthless company with collecting money is their main concern. I'm disabled now... They don't care.

Also I referred a friend because Khan told me I would get a referral bonus, but after repeatedly asking for it I never got it. I asked multiple times for statements so I could get reimbursed from my employer and they refused to give them to me. WORST GYM EVER! I joined wanting to get my body back after baby. I signed up for PT and got my first two months free. The personal trainer was amazing. She utilized every minute I paid for. Unfortunately after a while of no longer doing the PT thing because let's face it, it is expensive, I stopped going to the gym. The facility was always clean and the equipment was plentiful. The staff was always welcoming when I was there. I stopped going and spent some time focusing on my health in another way and spending more time with my family in the process. With an infant/toddler, working full time, I could not find the time to go to the gym. I recently remembered my membership renewal was coming up so I called to ask about what I needed to do.

They said to come in to fill out a cancellation form but there is a 30 day notice required. It just so happened I was coming up on the 30 days. I tried going to the club and missed the staff by minutes (got there at 1:59, they have signs saying not staffed after 2 on those days). Frustrated, I emailed the club and asked that they accept that as my 30 day notice. The club owner emailed me back the next day, very cool about it, were sending me the cancellation paper in the mail. Got it today. No screwing me over. Accepted my 30 days. No hidden fees. This facility knows how to treat people, no matter circumstance. If I ever get to a point where I have more time, would go straight back to that gym in a heartbeat. In a world full of companies not giving a hoot about their customers, this was refreshing.

First of all the manager wasn’t at the club. I waited there for more than 1.5 hour and when I came back the girl said she won’t be coming today as something came up and she sent me here. It’s a serious issue. The membership cancellation is totally a scam. I came here to cancel the membership within 10 days. I didn’t worked out here a single day and now the girl here is saying that I won’t be able to get my joining fee back which was $112 almost + I have to pay $60 remaining balance + 2 more biweekly payments will be deducted and she said, "Sorry I can’t do anything." Why these guys don’t write it straight on the joining form that whatever you’ll be paying here isn’t coming back no matter what happens. I made the biggest mistake by joining this gym without seeing the reviews about them. My $200 are gone just by joining the gym and not going there a single day because the fob wasn’t working.

(It's only June.) We called club manager Kayla ** to find out why, and also to get reimbursed for our overcharged membership. I was told that these are insufficient fund charges and I wouldn't be reimbursed. Aside from being rude and defiant, along with 0 room for customer assistance I have found that not only were my accounts sufficiently funded at the time of draw, they were conducting unauthorized withdrawals for as much as $151.71 in a single month. (Total monthly dues are $93.21.)

After trying to cancel my underaged daughter's account for no use in almost 8 months I was told I would be charged the full contract amount with no discount whatsoever. Shortly after the conversation, my account was double pulled for that months payment. And again the following month. This place is a scam and she will steal from your accounts. BUYER BEWARE. Wasted a ton of time and money (Anytime Fitness keeps charging until the "process" has been completed). The whole cancellation process concept is out of touch with how consumers expect to be treated. As a business owner, I'm embarrassed for them. As a customer, I feel a responsibility to let others know what they're getting into. Never sign a contract with AF, it's far too difficult to get out - even years after the initial contract is over.
