What is ADHD Online from Mentavi Health?

ADHD Online (ADO), a division of Mentavi Health, is an online platform that connects patients to licensed mental health professionals to diagnose and treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Evaluating licensed psychologists may also diagnose anxiety, depression, binge-eating disorder or other mental health conditions. ADO serves both adults and children (with parental consent). Assessment is available in all 50 states, but treatment options vary depending on the state. Treatment options include:

  • Diagnosis. By evaluating the assessment, a licensed psychologist determines if you have ADHD and/or other mental health conditions. The Smart Assessment is available in all 50 states. ADO claims the assessment adapts to patient answers for a more thorough evaluation.
  • Coaching. Certified coaches provide one-on-one sessions to provide personal guidance. Only available for individuals 18 and older. Per ADO’s Patient Support, “[Coaches] specialize in non-clinical mental wellness. Their role is centered on providing guidance and motivation, focusing on personal development.” Coaching is available nationwide.
  • Treatment. Where available (varies by state), treatment includes medications to treat symptoms of ADHD and related conditions.
  • Therapy. Teletherapy sessions are 50-minute Zoom calls with a licensed therapist with at least a Master’s degree in the field. Clinicians help you develop a care plan. ADO claims to use only evidence-based therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Therapy is not available in all states.

At the time of publishing, available options by state include:

*State regulations in ND and SC do not allow telemedicine providers to prescribe stimulant medications (e.g., Adderall, Concerta, Ritalin).

To get started with ADHD Online (ADO) from Mentavi Health, choose “Start Now,” enter your email address, select a password and agree to the terms and conditions. Then, you purchase the assessment for $179. Next, proceed through the Smart Assessment.

According to Mentavi, “Our Mentavi Health Smart Assessment has been carefully developed by qualified psychologists and physicians for the purpose of formally diagnosing not only ADHD, but anxiety and depression as well. The formal assessment contains embedded DSM-5 criteria guidelines as well as validated tools such as the GAD-7 and PHQ-9, which are routinely used in clinical settings. The smart assessment is also routinely updated to include new screeners such as the Bergans scale for social media addiction, ASRS-2, binge eating disorder, loneliness, and more!”

DSM stands for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders; GAD-7 is a diagnostic test measuring the severity of anxiety and it stands for Generalized Anxiety Disorder; PHQ-9 stands for Patient Health Questionnaire and measures depression severity in adults; ASRS-2 stands for Autism Spectrum Rating Scales and measures behaviors associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Once submitted, a licensed psychologist will review your assessment and diagnose your condition within five days. You may be diagnosed with ADHD, depression, anxiety, binge eating disorder, social media addiction or other condition(s). You may also receive more than one diagnosis or no diagnosis. The assessment fee is nonrefundable regardless of your diagnosis or lack thereof.

If you’re diagnosed with a condition, you’ll be offered treatment options as available in your state. You can also take your diagnosis to a doctor of your choice if you’d prefer.
