Let me start by stating that this is the worst mattress set that I have ever purchased. This set was purchased 2/18/2012 at Macy's. I'm 130 lbs. and this mattress already has given in the sinking in the middle. I find myself frustrated and not able to sleep with unevenly sinking. I purchased two mattress pads to help and that was a waste of my time, effort and money.

This is our second Simmons Beautyrest World Class Exceptionale. We replaced our much loved first one, which was a Queen, with a King in 2007. Well, within a few weeks, the sagging started, deep impressions that left little back support. We were told that this was "normal" and had to be over 1.5" deep before it is considered a defect. We were unsatisfied, but whatever. Fast forward to 2013 and recently, we noticed that one side of the mattress is bulging out over 2"! The one side is flat and flush, as it should be. The bad side bulges out on the side, which causes that side to sag, and it's impossible to push it back in even momentarily. It won't budge. I have filed a claim with Simmons, but based on the dozens of negative reviews from users who have had the same problem, my claim will likely be denied as well.
My mattress has always been protected by Simmons' own quilted Beautyrest mattress pad/cover and has always been on the box springs we bought with the mattress as a set. There are no stains on it, but after reading the reviews, I did go back and look at mine and there are many threads that are unraveling - despite the fact that it has always been protected with Simmons' own mattress cover! This needs to become a class action. Sadly, this seems to be the only way companies can be held accountable for their products anymore. A 10-year warranty means nothing if you never honor it! You can clearly see the bulging side and unraveling threads from our mattress (and yes, you can also see the protective mattress cover pulled back to reveal this as well).

We purchased a Simmons Bed from a local store that ordered the mattress direct from Simmons. Simmons is claiming that because the purchase was at an "outlet" store, they will not honor their warranty even though the store has a "10-Year Warranty" advertisement for Simmons or at least did at the time of purchase. The bed was purchased approximately 2 years ago and is now falling apart. There are several places where it is caving in. This is a scam to get out of honoring their manufacturer's warranty for a product clearly suffering from a manufacturing defect. Even the tag on the bed says their factory sent it to them shortly after purchase or around the time of purchase.

I purchased a Simmons Portsmouth Plush Pillow Top Mattress on 09/12/11 at a Mattress Giant store in Hollywood, Florida. A little over a year later, I noticed a large dip, about 10 inches in diameter and almost 2 inches deep in the middle of the mattress. Remembering the mattress came with a warranty, I contacted Simmons and explained the situation. The next day, they had someone there to inspect it, which included taking measurements and photos.
Today, about a week later, I learned that my claim has been denied cause there is a visible stain on the mattress. The warranty excludes burns, stains or soil, which is reasonable. However, it also says that Simmons products that are stained, soiled or infested by vermin are not covered. I read this to mean that any mattresses stained by, soiled by, or infested with vermin are not covered, in which I also find that reasonable.
The stain on my mattress was not from vermin, but Simmons is claiming that because there is any stain at all, that the warranty is completely void. When I tried to talk to the customer service person about this, she said, "Our lawyers assure us that your warranty is void." I was rather perplexed that such an insignificant claim over structural failure had made it to their legal department.
In addition, to the stain issue, Simmons is also claiming that the "impression" on my mattress is less than 1/4 inch in depth. I called the "independent" person who came to inspect the mattress and told him this, and he said that he clearly saw a much deeper impression. However, when I asked him if he would contact Simmons and discuss this with them, he refused and said he was their "eyes and ears" and would not discuss this with them.
Here is yet another case of "bait-and-switch" by an insurance company. I realize now that the only reason they sent someone out was to get pictures they could use to deny the claim, and that their warranty was a sham from day one. I would never buy a Simmons product again.

I purchased a Simmons BeautyRest mattress set at Sears.com. The mattress set came with a 10-year warranty. The mattress sides started breaking down within three months of purchase. The box springs also had wires coming through the thin covering. On the box springs, you could see the dips into the box springs and mattress where my dad and mom lay. They turned the mattress to try to sleep, but they would fall down into the dips.
The mattress set is less than a year old. I contacted Simmons for a total of 4 months before they sent someone out to look at the mattress set. They said they will deny the warranty claim because of a stain on mattress where my dad fell asleep with a pen in his hand; it made a small ink spot on mattress. This is the worst mattress my dad said he has slept on in 70 years. It’s a waste of money if you buy anything Simmons. I'm very upset that my dad would rather sleep in a chair than in that bed. That was almost a thousand dollars.

I purchased a BR Bagnell PL Queen Mattress Boxspring in October of 2008 with a 10-year warranty (what a joke!). In the 3rd year, one side started to sag and the springs started poking me in the back. As I am disabled and need a restful sleep (impossible at this point), we contacted Bon-Ton/Elder Beerman who sent us paperwork to measure the dip and take pictures of the mattress since there was not a distribution center in our area. When they got the pictures back, they said they could not make the warranty right since there were stains on the mattress. We are in the process of filing complaints. I will never buy a Simmons and will certainly not believe any warranty again.

We purchased a Simmons King Midnight dream on 3-6-06. It came with a 10-year warranty. After only a couple of years, we started to notice sagging. I finally called the company that we purchased the mattress from, and it measured 2" of sagging. The person that inspected it noticed a stain on the mattress. Women in menopause have night sweats. So, needless to say, Simmons denied the warranty replacement due to the stain. I tried to contact Simmons - it has been a week and I've had no response. If they don't make this right, I'll never buy another Simmons mattress again!

Six months ago, we purchased a king-sized Simmons mattress from Nebraska Furniture Mart after trying them out in the store. The mattress that was delivered was new, and it stated in the tag that it was a firm mattress. The mattress now feels like the demonstrator in the store, with one side firm and the other side plush. This is not what we wanted or what we paid for. NFM is no help because we did not buy the mattress cover for eighty dollars, which is a scam. This Simmons mattress is the absolute worst one we have ever owned.

I used to be a huge fan of Simmons BeautyRest World Class mattresses, but now I hate the company and their products! I originally purchased a king-sized, ultra plush super pillowtop from Rooms To Go 10 years ago in July of 2002 for about $1,700 - their top of the line Simmons Mattress at the time. After about 5 years, I noticed that the pillowtop itself was coming unraveled and contacted Rooms To Go to see about getting it repaired (as I adored that mattress). They sent over a technician who said it's no good after his string test. Rooms To Go honored Simmons' 10-year warranty and told me to come to the store to do a reselect, which I did. I wasn't expecting them to replace the mattress in the first place because it was just thread, but I thought I would be able to find another mattress by Simmons that was comparable so I went for it.
It cost me an extra $100 to do this, but I was happy to pay it and appreciated Rooms To Go taking care of this problem for me. The bed that I reselected was actually a more expensive Euro pillowtop bed. It was really soft, too soft actually, because I could barely pull myself out of the bed in the morning. I literally sunk in the bed. I contacted RTG and told them I made a mistake picking that mattress and it was just too soft for me. They let me pick another one, for another $100 reselect fee of course! OK, now I've invested $1,900. The mattress I ended up picking was almost identical to the original mattress from 2002, but it was now called something else. I loved this mattress so much that I convinced my boyfriend to buy the same mattress for his place and we constantly oohed and aahhed about that mattress because it was just so yummy!
Fast forward to another 3 or 4 years, the damn mattress was sagging so I called RTG. They once again sent out a technician and they deemed the mattress no good. They told me to come to a store and reselect, again! My complaint is in no way about Rooms To Go. Other than the fact that they were making money off of me every time I reselected, they were wonderful to deal with and made sure my problem was rectified in a timely manner. When I went back to their store to reselect, I found out that they don't even carry the Simmons BeautyRest World Class mattress any more. I'm not even sure if Simmons still makes them or if they are just calling it something else now!
Here is where things got really screwed up - through no fault of my own or Rooms To Go. The mattress I picked looked good and felt good in the store. Price-wise, I thought it was very similar to the one I was replacing. When I took delivery, I noticed that the end side of the mattress was going downhill and was obviously defective. RTG replaced it immediately, so again no problems with them. After sleeping on this mattress for a couple of nights, I noticed that my pressure points on my hips, shoulders and back were very sore. I complained to RTG and believe it or not, they were willing to replace it again but I had to pay another $100 and do another reselect. At this point, I felt compelled to contact Simmons and ask them where I could find a comparable mattress to the World Class mattresses I had owned and loved in the past; and to see if maybe there was still one around Dallas, TX somewhere.
They have an outlet here in Dallas, so I thought it was a possibility and at least they could tell me what was comparable since they were the manufacturer after all. What ended up happening in response to my phone message was someone from Simmons calling Rooms To Go and telling them to just give me my money back from my original purchase in 2002, and for me to basically kick rocks! Huh? Really? I never even had an opportunity to speak with anyone about why I was calling in the first place and it certainly wasn't to complain about Rooms To Go! After all, they were more than willing to help me and did several times! Apparently, the person that got my message to call me was someone very high up at Simmons corporate offices. They took it upon themselves to just go around me instead of calling or emailing me and contacted Rooms To Go customer service.
When customer service from RTG called me and told me this, I was completely shocked and angry! I sent over a very lengthy email to this executive at Simmons, explaining why I had contacted them in the first place and that I didn't appreciate them taking matters into their own hands and speaking on my behalf without even contacting me. I waited several days and didn't even get any type of response from them! Even more shocking! I somehow convinced RTG to please help me and they did; although they said they couldn't honor the warranty or help me anymore since it has now been 10 years since my original purchase. I thought that was fair and reasonable because they had been so accommodating to me for 10 years. Against my better judgement, I ended up picking out the best Simmons mattress they sold and paid an additional $400, thinking that this would be the end of it. Boy was I wrong.
Now I wake up constantly in the night and when I get out of bed, I have an extremely sore neck and shoulders; to the point that I am actually stiff and it never seems to go away! A mattress is supposed to be an investment because "what price sleep?" You are supposed to feel rested when you get out of bed and I sure used to with my other World Class mattresses, but that is not the case with the BeautyRest Elite. I don't know what to do now because my only option is to contact Simmons directly. I am pretty sure I know how that is going to turn out. I don't know why they have changed their products so drastically in the last several years, but now I wish I had never complained about that mattress that I adored and just lived with the saggy spot on it! I don't have the money to buy another mattress and this one is making my life miserable.
If I could actually pick that mattress up, I would throw it through their window just like in the Discount Tire commercial! They have no concept of customer service, which is apparent after reading all of these complaints. If I ever have the opportunity to buy a new mattress, I will still buy from Rooms To Go because of their excellent customer service. But it will most definitely not be a Simmons! Bear in mind that RTG will honor all manufacturers' warranties and do all the legwork for you, so you don't have to hassle with the manufacturer yourself. They keep accurate records of all of your purchases on their computer so getting proof of purchase, date of purchase, etc. is simple. They are wonderful and I give them 1 million gold stars and an A plus for their efforts!

I bought a Simmons Beautyrest mattress in December, 2007. Got what I thought was a great deal on a high quality mattress. Paid about $1,400 for a $2,600 list price Parish Plush. I bought on the high end to avoid issues with sagging I experienced on the old mattress, which were causing back problems at the time. I had some concerns right away about the sagging and my wife really complained about it. We were told we had to sleep in different positions, including on the edge of the bed, to break it in properly. Now, the sagging has gotten so bad my back and neck are killing me. When my wife and I sleep, we roll toward the center every night. Called Sleep Train customer service and was told that unless there is measurable sagging with nobody on the bed, then Simmons would not honor the warranty. What a waste of money. Don't buy from Simmons. (We have 2 other mattresses from Sleep Train that are not a problem, by the way).

We bought a Beautyrest mattress in 2007 and by 2009 it had a very bad sag. We call it the "Big Valley". It's not really funny when you consider it came with a 10-year warranty and all the promises made by the company. Also the place we purchased it from has gone out of business. I am writing this because I have tried to reach their customer service warranty, 1-877-399-9397, for a week now. Boy, this must be the job to have! I think there is only one person working there! You can never get through and I have left several messages and no return call! They're tougher to reach than the president! They're open Mon-Thur 8:30 to 4:30 and Fri 8:30 to 2:30 ... sign me up! A Simmons Beautyrest queen size pillow-top mattress developed a depression sag area that rolls both people towards the middle. After reading all the complaints here about the same issue and the resulting claim denied being issued time after time, I decided to file this report (do not buy one of these!) and go out and buy a different brand. They make you jump through hoops and send in pictures, measurements and completed forms. They conveniently do not have a rep to come look at it and make a decision even though it is obviously a defect. Why would we want another that is apparently going to do the same thing?
Chalk it up to good old American (lack of) quality and the company's failure to stand behind their products. Is it any wonder our confidence in American manufacturing has waned? Simmons take note: by failing as a company, you are wrecking the reputation of all American made products. When is the American public going to say enough?!

Mattress is 3 months old. No one had been sleeping on this bed for over 1 week. Somehow it caught fire and blew up in the center. Since I don't know how the actual cause of the fire happened, it is a mystery, I am concerned the materials this mattress is actually made of or chemicals used in the material that would cause such a combustion with such an odd odor. This mattress was absolutely not flame retardant at all and is clearly unsafe. If we had not heard the explosive noise, we would have been asleep in the other end of our home with our child and may have burned up. I am concerned with the type of material or treatment of the material mainly that is more than just a fire hazard obviously.

Like most of the other complaints, my mattress was purchased from Mattress Firm. I have had it two years; it is a Simmons Walker Plush which I paid $1800 for a king. It now has body depressions that make it unusable. I called to have it inspected and the device placed a string across the sides and a measuring device in the middle. It only registered 1/2- 3/4 of an inch which Mattress Firm says "is well within tolerance." However when you lie in, you cannot roll over... it's like sleeping in a ditch.
This is very uncomfortable and Mattress Firm will not move off their stand, so I am stuck with this unusable mattress. I will never recommend Mattress Firm or recommend another Simmons Product. I purchased this mattress and explained my concerns about "body depressions" and was assured that this mattress does not have that issue. Beware, do not purchase Simmons.

We purchased a Simmons. The only model name I can find is Griffith upon engagement. After seven months, I had to hold on to the edge to keep from rolling to the center. I contacted Sit n Sleep and Simmons. They sent their hokey independent inspector out. Of course, he said it was not defective as when he put his little weight, it did not sag more than one and a half inch. It did not matter that when you sat on the corner, you fall to the floor as it sagged so much. Anyway, I took pictures and sent certified demand letter to Sit n Sleep and Simmons. They did contact me and after "looking into it," I was again denied. I informed her I needed second denial letter as I was going to seek assistance through our judicial system. I got another call saying in hindsight that they would offer me a credit of $750 on good, only on a Simmons. Well, I can't find any Simmons worth buying according to what I have read. I purchased a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress from a well-known mattress store in our town, and I was told it was a great mattress. Within six months, the mattress had a definite sag where I slept; and I am not a heavy person. I was having terrible backaches and visiting the chiropractor for adjustments weekly. I never had backaches or woke up sore and hurting prior to sleeping on this mattress. After visiting the store where I purchased it, they gave me instructions on filing a claim, how to document and measure the sag in the middle, which I did. I have a very good frame with seven feet touching the floor, and I purchased new box springs from them at the same time I purchased the mattress.
After submitting pictures, they agreed the sag was outside of the norm. It was a "defective" mattress, and they did replace it. All was well for probably two months. Well, it apparently is a bad mattress line, because now six months later, the second mattress has the same issue. My old mattress that I had for 10 years was more comfortable than this $1400 six-month-old mattress. I am extremely disappointed and certainly would never recommend a Simmons to anyone. Mattresses sales is the used car business of the 1960s and 70s, before protections and lemon laws. We need a mattress lemon law in this country. I bought a premium priced Simmons Beautyrest pillow top mattress just a few weeks ago. The first night I slept on it (I weigh less than 170 lbs), there was a deep indentation about 6". Unbelievable! After sleeping on a 40-year old "vacation" bed my family had for years, with a mattress about the thickness of a wafer, where I got out of bed each morning feeling perfectly fine, I looked forward to the comfort of a new, pricy pillow top. The Simmons felt great at the store, but then the first night, the trough happened. I thought it was a break-in period. But after a week, my back was killing me. The trough takes about 15 minutes to rise back up after getting out of bed. By then, it's too late. It has done its damage to one's back.
I called the store. They sent an inspector, who measured the depth and determined that the mattress was in normal guidelines. He called the store's warranty department who told me they would not, repeat, not replace the mattress for which I paid nearly $1,400.00! I called the manager of the store who repeated the same thing, played hardball with me now that they had my money. I called Simmons. They said they'd call the store, but I have no hope of getting this replaced. My only choice is to pay the store a restocking fee of $200 and the price difference and delivery cost for a new mattress. There is but one choice we consumers have - file a formal complaint with the attorney general of your state and the Better Business Bureau.

I purchased my Simmons NxG king-sized bed at Mattress Warehouse in September 2009 and paid $3,200.00 for the deluxe mattress. The mattress has a 10-year warranty. I have the original receipt. After noticing a change in the shape of the mattress, I contacted the salesman at Mattress Warehouse. He told me that blowouts were known manufacture defects in this mattress and I should make a claim with the warranty department. After 5 claims and 6 months later, a representative came to my house to inspect my mattress. He stated, "This was one of the worst blowouts that he had ever seen." He said it will take about a week and I would get a response regarding my claim.
My expectation was that Simmons would make good on their warranty and I would get the mattress replaced. After about 2 weeks, I received a letter stating that my mattress was soiled and warranty was void. It is my opinion that this was normal wear and should not be a reason to avoid a known manufacture defect. I want the decision reviewed. Simmons should stand behind their products and value their customers. My expectation is that Simmons will replace the mattress or refund the original cost.

It was bad, and after finally proving it sagged 1.5 inches, they sent me a Simmons. It is a plush top firm. Really! It has already started to sag in the middle, and the entire mattress is no longer firm. I plan on reporting to Sears again but it took two years on the other mattress to get a replacement. I guess it will take another two to get something done on this mattress.

This has been the worst travesty I've ever dealt with. First, I made the mistake of buying a mattress from US Mattress online. Oh, they fed me a lot of lines of how I have to be satisfied or they'll refund or exchange my mattress.
So I get this Simmons queen mattress for about $1100. I never even noticed there were no tags on it. Within a few days, my back was so sore that I had to get out of bed to feel good. I called both US Mattress and Simmons, and US Mattress told me to give it time. Simmons said basically they will not cover any "comfort" issues. What are they selling if not comfort? With that logic, they could have sent me a rock without any regrets.
US Mattress then proceeded to waste my time, as I tried to find a resolution by telling me they are going to send out a "mattress inspector", who is a surly guy with God-knows-what qualifications and who expected me to be on his schedule because he only works a few hours a day. I had to remind him who was the customer. Someone from the mattress inspector's headquarters in TX told me that no matter what, US Mattress will say there is nothing wrong with the mattress. Instead of dealing with my problem, US Mattress was furious that this employee told me that. They passed the buck to Simmons who had such inept employees that they even attempted to deny I had a Simmons mattress!
They then also proceeded to waste my time by sending me a form that requires I photograph the bed from top to bottom as well as the box spring and the stand. Now what person who is old or disabled is going to be able to do that? I will never deal with either of these companies again. May they rot in hell.

Simmons' claims materials as well as their product distributors all say that a mattress with "body impressions that are 1 1/2" or over are valid claims of defective mattresses. The technician measured our body impressions at 1 5/8". My claim was rejected, saying that plush style mattresses are "susceptible to compaction" and that shouldn't be considered a defect. Huh? Compaction is the major defect for a foam mattress. They went on to say that they noted no structural defects in the mattress or box springs. No kidding, there is no structure in a foam mattress. Within a matter of several weeks, I began to notice that it was difficult to get comfortable with this mattress. I simply assumed it was just going to take me a while to get used to the new mattress. During those initial months, I noticed that the mattress was seemingly becoming soft and appearing to sag in several areas of the bed. This has continued to be an ongoing problem with me being able to feel the springs pushing against various pressure points of the body. I have become so uncomfortable in this bed that many times I go to one of my guest rooms and sleep on my old king size bed which is over 12 years old. Additionally, the bed interior structure is noisy whenever you sit or lay upon the mattress, a series of creaking sounds emanate from the mattress.
I find this mattress is impossible to sleep on causing me to wake up through out the night. The mattress obviously has a defect. I have purchased numerous beds in the past and never had an issue. I specifically purchased this Beautyrest due to its name brand recognition, known for quality. I contacted Macy's, the manager, forwarding my concerns to Simmons Mattress company, to no avail. They stated there is no warranty due to the price structure and discount they give to Macy's. Then I checked the internet and found that this is an ongoing problem with Simmons Bedding. In this matter, if you are looking for a good mattress, the last place to go would be Macy's or their supplier, that being Simmons Mattress, beware, that bedding is a rip-off and they have no customer care when you complain.

Today, 1/10/11, the bed delivery guy came to both take the old bed and deliver the new bed. He looked at my old bed and told me that he couldn't take it back because of staining on the mattress. Do not buy a "W" bed from Simmons! Complete junk in just 3 years!
We purchased this bed after a very pleasant stay at a W Hotel and were delighted that the make "their" mattresses available for sale on the web. We purchased it in the summer of 2008. Immediately upon arrival, we strongly suspected this was not the same mattress at all -- much softer than the one at the W hotel. But we decided to keep it and it was fine for about a year.
In year two, it began to become very noticeably soft in the middle. My wife and I could literally roll toward each other. By year three, we were waking up with backaches every day. There is a 10 year warranty on this allegedly premium product, and for the first time that I or anyone I know has ever had to do, I called a mattress manufacturer, Simmons for warranty service.
They asked for photos of the mattress and descriptions of the problem, fair enough. But we knew this was going to end badly when Simmons asked us to measure literally with a tape measure the amount of 'depression' in the mattress. There is no visible depression, nor would there be with a pillow top mattress. We thought Simmons' question had to be a joke. No, it wasn't.
We sent the photos of course. But the problem with this mattress isn't a matter of looks, it's that the mattress is so over soft that two normal sized adults can't sleep on it after just 3 years. Simmons' response was outrageous. They claimed we were experiencing "normal compaction" and basically told us tough luck, we're not going to do anything. No inspector, no nothing, too bad.
They actually said the mattress was performing as expected, and that "normal compaction" is experienced with every mattress. For goodness sake, even the cheapest, lowest quality mattress will give you more than 3 years of use. For this "premium" product to become unusable so soon is ridiculous and inexcusable.
Simmons' refusal to even consider any remedy has guaranteed that we will never consider buying one of their products again, and I recommend to anyone reading this complaint to run the other way from this bed and from Simmons.
I've been in the consumer products business for over 25 years working with dozens of companies, and I've never come across the kind of callous, dismissive disregard for a customer that I've seen from Simmons. This company is a disgrace as far as I'm concerned, and a must to avoid.

I made the delivery guys wait while I put this over the mattress and zipped it shut.
Three years later, the mattress has a huge bulge on the side that we non-affectionately call "the tumor". The mattress does not need to be flipped and it was not. Simmons sent out an independent inspector since we had moved out of the state where we purchased this from.
The inspector was very nice. He told us that he is not affiliated with Simmons and that he can make no rulings and is only there to document. He found that the bulge measures over 2" and runs about 1/4 way over the length of the mattress.
Simmons sent a letter agreeing to a replacement, which is wonderful. First of all, the letter was either backdated or held as I was given three days to get the tags, signed letter and cc info faxed to them. That is not much time at all, especially since I do not have a home fax.
They said that I am in charge of disposing of the old mattress. (Why do they deny claims due to stains if they never handle the old mattress??? This is wrong!!)
The phone representative also stated that I needed to have the "Do not remove except by the consumer" tag on the mattress. I have mine in there, but if the consumer is allowed to remove it, how can Simmons require it to be left on when the tag, the salesman and the sales paperwork make no mention of this fact? How would a person possibly know they needed to keep that tag!
I also have to pay $85 to have a new mattress sent to me. I really do not understand why I should have to pay this if it is their defective product. If they would quit using cheaper materials, they would not be inundated with warranty claims. Seems to me that the cost of a warranty claim is the incentive for a company to make a quality product.
While I am quite thankful that I'm apparently one of the "lucky few" who will receive a replacement, I am deeply disturbed by a warranty with so many loopholes.

"So there are two messages here. Don't buy Simmons Products and never misplace a receipt! We "lost" $2600.00 on a faulty Mattress and need to spend another $1500.00 to replace it!

I stumbled across this website when was googling what mattress I can purchase that won't sag in the middle! I too have a Simmons (Slumberpedic) mattress that began to sag about a year after I purchased it. I had to pay a $30 fee for a technician from the place I purchased it to come and look at it and was told twice that the indent was normal. It wasn't deep enough for the warranty to take affect and give me a new one.
Hello, mattresses are made for sleeping on, you'd think they could make them so they don't sink in the middle! Not only is it uncomfortable for sleeping but looks bad as well! And when you pay that much for a mattress, you wouldn't think you'd have this issue. I'm going to be looking for a new mattress, (not that I really want to spend another $800 or so), and I will not be purchasing a Simmons now that I know I'm not the only one who has had this issue.

We purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Exceptionale Ashton, Visco Plush mattress from Macy's Home Store in Edina, MN. After less than a year, the mattress began to sag on both sides of the bed, creating very uncomfortable sleeping conditions. We contacted customer service and they sent a technician to measure the depth of the depressions. Immediately upon seeing the mattress, the technician said, "You'll be getting a new mattress."
He completed his measurements and confirmed that there was structural failure and that the depressions were in the range necessary to replace the mattress. Shortly after he left, I received a call from customer service telling me that the warranty was void due to a faint stain on the mattress at the foot of the bed. The technician never mentioned it and the customer service rep did not budge on her decision. I contacted the mattress manager at Macy's who told me he would contact Simmons and dispute the decision.
After one week, he called back and informed me that he couldn't get Simmons to reverse their decision. We are sleeping on a mattress that actually causes us discomfort, that by their own admission failed structurally within the warranty period but that they won't replace because of a cosmetic blemish. This is the worst example of customer service from a manufacturer and retailer that I have ever experienced.

We bought a Simmons Duel Marlowe mattress only 3 months ago for about $2,000. We discovered severe signs of wear where we sleep. After contacting Mattress Warehouse Dudley Farm, WV, where we purchased it, they sent an inspector to look at it. Our claim was denied because of a stain where we laid, even though the complaint was about the mattress breaking down.
I had first thought the stain was due to cheap sheets on the bed, but after reading several complaints on here, I am convinced these mattresses are designed to stain after people sleep on them thereby voiding the warranty. Simmons, in my opinion, knows they are selling an inferior product, and uses the staining to get out of their warranty. Before I owned a Sealy mattress for 15 years, only got rid of it because it was a full, and I wanted a queen, and it looked brand new when I gave it away.

We have a Simmons Beautyrest Black mattress. It cost around $2500 so it was supposed to be top of the line. Three strand triple twist no sag construction-- not. Both sides of the mattress have turned into a deep gully. I have repeatedly contacted Simmons by email and they ignored them. I weigh 135, my husband 220. We have rotated as instructed, no relief, no benefit. The product is defective, flawed design.
Our backs are in constant pain. We do not sleep through the night sometimes as many as 10 times a night awake. I have purchased an encased 2" foam topper. Under this, I have placed many layers of fabric items to fill the gully like spackling in a hole in the wall. The gullies are layered with bedspread, towels, coverlets all in an attempt to bring the bed back up to the proper height then the encased 2" foam topper ($300).

My husband and I purchased a Simmons mattress with a 10-year warranty. After about 5 years, the mattress began sagging and we asked to invoke our warranty. After several months, Simmons sent an independent contractor from Mattress Marshals to inspect the mattress. We did some online research on this company, whose sole purpose is to save the mattress company the cost of a claim. Online complaints included that unless the mattress indentation was more than 1 1/2 inches in depth, it was within normal warranty standards. Online reports also stated that warranties had also been denied due to "stains" on the mattress.
When the Mattress Marshal arrived, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but watched him measure. In some measurements, the indentation was over 2 inches deep. In his photos and his reports, he wrote, however, that no indentation was more than an inch and a quarter, exactly as the website said they would claim. When we received our warranty denial, I called to express my concern and was told that there were now "stains" on the mattress photos that he submitted. I asked to see these stains and the photos and was denied. They claimed this is their property and they do not share the photos. Additionally in their denial letter, they stated: "Today's bedding products are much thicker than they were a few years ago and body impressions will appear with use due to the compaction of the upholstery layering. Please be assured that this is not an indication of an inferior product".
I am not sure if we were not supposed to "use" the product in order to maintain its structure or if they want us to buy a new mattress from them because "today's bedding products" are seemingly better than in years past. Their solution was to wait 90 days and send out another inspector or have me take my own photographs and send them in. They refused email contact, will not allow me to send pictures in via email, but I have to send them certified original prints to their corporate office. I am 38 years old, exercise daily and have never had back problems or pain in my life. Now I wake up every morning to terrible back pain, as does my husband. We joke that there is/are "Jen and Tim" size holes in the bed, in the shape of our bodies.
We purchased this mattress with a 10-year warranty. This product has been discontinued and Simmons will not tell us why. We would be happy with credit towards a new, different brand of mattress, as we have provided proof of purchase, accommodated their inspection, etc.

I bought the Simmons "Fontallina" mattress in February 2010. I never had any problems with Simmons. The springs were tied separately, so definitely no sag, etc. While changing the bed one day, I noticed sagging where my shoulders and hip usually lay. Now, this mattress, supposedly on sale for half price, was over $1000! I wish I had checked out this site before I bought it, but it was a spur of the moment buy, even though the mattress set I had was not that bad & I have had it for almost 10 years, for half the cost of the new one. Simmons sent a woman out to measure, etc. and she was really thorough and I thought maybe they would not do anything about it. About 2-3 weeks later I received a letter from Simmons saying they would replace it & to take the letter to the store, which I did. It is to be delivered in a couple days & now I am wondering if it will do the same thing!
Also, what really got me riled up was the fact that after charging $65 to deliver the original one, they are now charging another $65 to deliver & pick up the original. My contention is that I paid for delivery once; it is not my fault that the mattress was flawed, so why should I have to pay this fee, up front, before they would deliver the 2nd one? I cannot believe or maybe I can, the way things go today, that this is the same Simmons Company of old. The salesman said that was company policy led me to believe that was Simmons, not Mattress Warehouse. I know I will never deal with either company again & have mentioned that to family & friends! This mattress would be the last I would ever have to buy, and yes $65 twice does impact my finances!

He looked, seen we had a stain on the mattress and said that we have to have someone else out to take out the stain and then if they got the stain out, and then we could have another person come out to do a measurement of the middle of the bed. I do not care about this stain, I am disappointed in this mattress and that's why I bought the warranty. This stain did not make the bed breakdown. I have been on the phone several times with Gardner White and I am sick of hearing their excuses about this stain. They are not discussing the construction of the mattress but are talking only about the stain.
My husband has had 2 back surgeries and is looking at another one, and most nights cannot sleep in this bed for an entire night. He ends up in our Lazyboy. Why are warranties even offered, when the company will not back them up? We as consumers pay a lot of money for these mattress sets and for a couple of years sleeping well sure doesn't add up. We previously had an ancient Simmons Beautyrest mattress and decided, as the advertisers tell us, we should buy new, upgrade, all the dust mites, old skin cells, etc., etc., etc. We purchased our new Simmons Black Helena model mattress in July of 08, and beyond the first few months, we have not had a pleasant night's sleep since. The pillow top material degrades permanently and then causes the bed to remain in a constant hammock-like state when we are sleeping in it. The triple stranding of the coils appear not to have a real effect on the firmness nor support.
I have garnered information from Mattress Firm that if the mattress does not have a certain depth depression without a body on it, well, we are out of luck. I weigh 133 lbs. and am 5' 7"; my husband is 220 lbs. and is 5' 10 ... hardly what one would think would stress the mattress to the point of discomfort we are both experiencing. We rotated it at the 6-month point, switched our respective sides ... Nothing works. When I get out of bed and see him still asleep, he looks like he has fallen into one of our famous Florida "sink holes." My back is sore every morning.
I purchased the Black Helena model specifically because of the triple twist coil feature and was assured the mattress wouldn't sag because of that. We loved our ancient Simmons Beautyrest. It still gave us a good night's sleep. At this point, after spending a considerable amount of money on what is presumably a premier mattress, I feel cheated, and stuck. I decided to check the Internet for other Simmons Black owners' ratings or a solution to bringing the mattress back to its original great feel it had in the store. There are several blogs and complaints of the same nature - the permanent compression of the pillow top, and "never having a good night's sleep" were both a consistent theme with this Simmons Black brand mattress. Initial quality and looks is 5 stars! After that, it doesn't rate a zero.
A king size mattress isn't a minor purchase and discarding it and buying some other brand is not within our budget. Do not buy any Simmons products. They are obviously not what they used to be.

Simmons Beautyrest - the killer mattress!
This is my second time writing to you. The first time, you just sent me to where I bought it and Ortho made me pay a $50 fee to establish if the mattress is visibly shot. It still is not 1.5 depressed so I continue to be screwed! This is very simple. I had Beautyrests when I was younger and they were fine. This time, in our new stately home 2 years ago exactly, on 8/28/07, we bought a $1,500 Cal King Novinger Lux Firm Mattress and it has been the nightmare of our lives! From the day we got it, it never felt like the one in the showroom, not nearly as firm! Then my wife always suffered from the materials. It made her too hot. This made her have to leave the bedroom and sleep elsewhere to get some shut eye, but after only a few months, the back pain began and I am feeling it strongly right now as there is no firmness to the mattress whatsoever!
As a reference, I'm not a small man but also not gigantic (6ft, 230lbs. My wife is 5ft at 130lbs). But let me say this and even knowing the mattress industry seems to be a non-caring, ruthless, lowdown industry, I am tired of not being taken seriously after buying a top of the line $1,500 product. So this time I will be ruthless posting something about your product and your company policies unless I get a favorable response! The last mattress I bought was $600 for a queen 11 years ago that now my daughter inherited. It's in far better shape than the one we bought from you, so as now someone said when buying another mattress, they don't make them like they used to! Well the pricing went up considerably so I want to get what I paid for!
If I have to go out and buy another mattress after 2 years and throw away $1,500, Simmons should be ashamed of themselves and I will raise hell as this has been a nightmare! There was one mattress firmer for another $200/300. Does that one last 2.5 years or 3? The warranty is crap, you've treated me the same way and Ortho, well, they adhere to your warranty so obviously it will get to be 1.5 depressed by that time get ready to pay doctor bills for two! I will wait for a response for one week and prepare and see all the places where I'll be blogging, posting, etc. about this injustice and lack of customer support from Simmons.
Simmons' response: If there are no other manufacturing defects in the bedding product, the normal tolerance level of impressions (1) must be exceeded in order to receive a replacement mattress.
Note: Not one word of, "We apologize." Nothing!

My husband and I bought a mattress from 1-800-mattress in Aug. 2004. That mattress was a Sealy Pillowtop and had deep impressions. In Dec. '07, we traded in the Sealy for a Simmons Beautyrest World Class Cypress Plush (commonly known as the Monrovia). This bed was heaven, for the first six months that is! We have deep body impressions and the side is bowing outward. My husband has had a lot of back pain and I thought it was just him. Then in April '09, I started to incur bad pain from this bed. I called 1-800-mattress and had to take the measurements and all the pictures of the mattress, only to find out later that they filed for bankruptcy and I believe Sleepy's was in the process of buying them. So I was referred to Simmons directly. I have to say that they were very helpful and started a claim. In three days, an inspector called and set an appointment up for the following week.
One week after the inspection, I called Simmons and was told that they were going to replace my mattress. "Great," I thought. However, in the letter that I received from Simmons, I have to pay them $85 for the mattress delivery and it has to be a money order or bank check as they cannot even process a credit card and they need a few tags from the mattress sent to them. Once they are in receipt of these items, then they will order a mattress for me. Are you telling me that there aren't any in the warehouse? I would love a freshly made mattress, don't get me wrong, but it sounds like a runaround.
In addition, I have to dispose of my mattress as they do not do pick-ups. I know that we are lucky that our bed qualifies for replacement, as so many other posters were not. But I bought a product, it is (as most are) defective and I have to pay for delivery and dispose of their trash for them. What about all those out there who were denied for stains? Who are they kidding? They don't even pick up the mattress. The consumer disposes it! I would really love to know the rationalization on that! I know this replacement will probably feel good for the first six months, then I will be on my way to a Sealy spring free!

We received a letter dated July 9, 2009 from Simmons stating that there was no structural failure in the mattress and that this was a normal body impression. When we tried out the mattress at Fortunoff, there was no give in the mattress.
As a result of their findings, Simmons is unwilling to offer a replacement. When my husband lied down on the mattress, he sinks into it. My husband has a heart condition and two herniated discs. This has aggravated the pain in his back and has to sleep in the guest room. Due to my husband's health conditions, we are forced to replace the mattress. It definitely won't be a Simmons. My husband is on a fixed income, so it will be a financial strain.
Sinking into the mattress is not body impression. If it was, why doesn't the mattress return to its original form? Why do you have warranties, when you don't honor them? A mattress life should be 10 years or more, not less than one. The mattress was sold to us with the information that it would be comfortable with proper body alignment.

When the new one arrived, we got it home and slept on it for a couple of days realizing that every night we slept on it, the mattress was sinking further down like we were in holes on each side of the bed and had trouble turning over. We contacted Ashley about the problem and they told us to bring it back and pick out another one.
We found one that we liked called a Plush Firm. We knew it wasn't real soft but it wasn't really hard either. We liked this one and ordered it to replace the one that was sinking in. When the new one arrived, we put it on the bed and realized that something wasn't right as soon as we went to bed. There was no plush to the mattress, only firm. The mattress had very little padding on the top and was very hard. It was not even close to the one we had tried in the store. The manager of Ashley came out and looked at it and agreed that there was definitely a difference and that he would do everything he could to help us but after talking to Simmons regional manager, his attitude changed.
We have contacted Ashley with emails and on the phone voicing our problem. We gave over $1400 for a mattress that we thought we would be sleeping on right now but we can't because it is so hard. Plush Firm does not mean rock hard in our book. The Simmons region manager told us that a mattress is like a pair of shoes, you have to break it in. We've owned numerous mattress in our lives but we never had to break one of them in. When you spend the amount we did for a mattress, it should feel and sleep like the one you test at the store you bought it from.
We were told that because other people try them at the store, they will seem softer than they are. Maybe they should put up a sign informing people of this so as not to mislead people. The lady at Simmons told my wife today that Simmons is not in the business of comfort; they are in the business of selling mattresses. Their customer service was rude and confrontational to say the least. If they think we're through fighting them, they better think again. We put some of the blame on all furniture stores that allow Simmons to treat their longtime customers or anyone this way.
Simmons told us that since all the serial numbers on the mattress matched the ones that go with building it, we received the same one we tried at the store. We are very disappointed with Ashley Furniture. We are longtime customers and purchase only their products. That relationship is most likely over since they've decided to stick their heads in the sand. It's a shame. They have good products. We did find the perfect mattress there the other day; it was a Simmons. Good luck to all of you in our shoes!

To my surprise, I found the receipt and contacted Simmons who referred me to the place of purchase. On Saturday, February 14, the bedding manager came to check the mattress. His immediate reaction was "Oh, I see what you mean." However, he informed me that since there was a 2 inch stain (my daughter had a bloody nose) near the top of the mattress, the warranty was VOID.
How can a 2 inch stain near the top of the mattress have anything to do with the integrity of the mattress? The entire center of the mattress is sinking and distorted. I have not slept in the bed and cannot sleep in the bed because of my back. After a call to Fran at Simmons customer service (customer service....that's a joke), all I was told is a stain negates the warranty. All I wanted was an explanation of what a stain has to do with the quality of their product. She then referred me back to the retailer who will refer me back to the company and so on and so on. Apparently it's my fault that the mattress is piece of **! So beware when you purchase your next Simmons mattress. Wrap it in plastic and put it on display somewhere. Don't sleep on it and definitely don't get a stain on it.

My parents bought one of these top of the line $1600.00 beds with mom's retirement money thinking it would be the last bed she would have to buy... HA! One year later, the inch and a half dent etc... same story as others. Finally got it replaced with one of the other two to choose from; SIX months later... guess what! You got it, same indentation, same roll out of bed mattress, that is too dangerous for my ageing parents. I called Simmons and she kept threatening to hang up on me if I didn't lower my voice, yet she kept cutting me off. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SIMMONS AND I WILL TELL ANYONE AND EVERYONE WHO WILL LISTEN AS TO WHAT THEY DID TO MY PARENTS. And let's not forget that Mancini's is selling this **!!

I purchased a mattress and box spring through HSN shopping network that was a Simmons Beautyrest. I owned it for 1year and 3 months. It started to sag in the middle, I called the customer service, they sent out a independent inspector. He advised me that something is going on with this mattress. He sent the report into Simmons, They sent me a letter back denying the claim and the reasons were that it was only sagging a inch and that there was a stain on it. The warranty is for 10 years, my question is if it sagged a inch in a year what will happen in 5 years. I am very unhappy with their product and the way they handle their complaints. Hope you can help me. Two people can not sleep in this bed anymore.

We purchased a mattress set from Art Van. They did not have the mattress in the showroom in a King that we liked. We wondered into the Clearance Center and found the one we wanted. It could be delivered in 2 days. We purchased the mattress and Bed. We were asked to purchase the additional 1 year service plan on the set (mattress and frame). We declined because Simmons mattresses come with a 10 year warranty and did not feel that spending additional money to cover a frame was warranted. We were told that we would not have Art Van's satisfaction guarantee, but again Simmons has a warranty.
The mattress was constructed in Sept. 2007. We purchased it in January 2008. It is now July 2008 and for the past month we have been sleeping in HOLES. The dips are 1.0 inches when taking a straight edge and measuring down, just like it shows on the Simmons website. When you lay on it, the dip becomes 3 inches. I contacted Simmons and they said I had to contact Art Van. Art Van said that since I did not buy the one year plan the mattress was not covered. Mattresses have a 10 year plan so how would not purchasing a 1 year plan make a difference.
I was told by the service department that the clearance center item was sold as is because it was on the floor and not the warehouse. I asked them to make sure that they updated their statements to cover the fact that the manufacture's warranty was also not valid because all it states is that Service is Not Available and the Total Satisfaction Guarantee is excluded. The document DOES NOT state that the Manufacture's Warranty is voided. I do not want to return the mattress for something else, or for cash. I wanted a replacement. Now when we can afford it we will have to purchase a new mattress and it will not be from Art Van nor will it be a Simmons.
The new mattress was purchased to replace a mattress that was 8 years old and started causing back pain. For the first month and a half my back felt better. Now that I am sleeping in a 3.0 inch dip of the mattress my back pain has returned and I hate to get into bed at night. We will have to purchase another new mattress and still have the payments on the one we currently have and cannot use.

I bought a Simmons BeautyRest World class in June 2004. At that time I would say it was the most comfortable mattress that I have ever had. About 8 months ago my wife and I started experiencing some back pain. The mattress had been starting to sag but we did not pay a lot of attention until that point. In early 2008 I filed a warranty claim with Simmons. Since I had moved from North Carolina to Oklahoma I had to file the claim directly with Simmons. Simmons sent out an independent inspector to inspect the mattress. The first comment when he walked into the bedroom was, Wow you guys are sleeping in a ditch. The sag is quite apperent. The inspector brought out his camera and a plastic guage with inches on it. He stated that it was over the 1.5 inch requirement to be replaced. He stated that he would turn it in as a factory defective mattress as well. There was a small tear on the bottom cover of the mattress. This mattress is a no flip mattress. He took a picture of this small tear and said that it was his job to report the entire picture of the mattress, understandable. This small tear was caused by a wire or staple sticking out of the mattress the first time I turned the mattress. I hammered the staple/wire back into the bed and thought no further.
The inspector took maybe two pictures of the sag in the bed and stated that it was over the limit of normal sag. There were deeper sag points but he said this should be sufficient. My warranty claim was turned down due to the tear in the mattress and due to the fact that the picture provided by the inspector did not show over 1.5 inches. I appealed the warranty finding and they stated that if I would send in additional pictures of the sag they would reconsider. I took pictures showing over 2 inches of sag in the bed. Keep in mind that I weight 165 and my wife weighs much less. Once again I was turned down and was told that nothing that I could do or say would make a difference on the issue. The manager who I spoke with did not even know who I was when she told me this. She told me that she would have to pull my file. Obviously this was going to be the final word before she even knew who I was. This is roughly a $2000 mattress with the longest warranty available from Simmons. From the research I have found I would say a class action is in order to stop this abuse of the consumer. All I want is for them to stand by their warranty but it sounds like they could come up with a reason to deny just about every claim.
$2000 mattress will need to be replaced. My wife has a bulging disk in her back. The doctor says it was caused by the mattress.

We bought a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress about 4.5 years ago. We liked it very much at first, our favorite feature being that we could both move around or get up without disturbing each other. We are both restless sleepers so this is an important feature for us.
However, almost immediately, we started noticing body impressions. The bed sags where we each sleep and there is quite a noticeable hump in the middle between where we sleep. We decided it wasn't too bad as we both liked the way the mattress stays still even when one of us is restless.
However, as the months passed, the body impressions got deeper and deeper. Now when you are lying on the bed, it feels like you are sleeping in a hole. The impressions are even clearly visable when the bed is fully made up.
We called Art Van (where the mattress p>was purchased) thinking we would get some help since the mattress is still well under warranty. They sent out a technician who proceded to check the mattress for stains (which would apparently void the warranty! Luckily we keep ours covered with a heavy pad) and to measure the depth of the indentations. Apparently (when no one is lying on the bed) our 'body impressions' are about an inch deep. This is considered NORMAL! According to Simmons the impressions must be over an 1.5 inches before this is considered a defect. Please know this: When lying on the bed, you sink. Reguardless of how deep the indents are when no one is on the bed, sleeping on this mattress is like sleeping in a hole.
After paying almost $2000 for a king size mattress, we expect it should last more than 5 years. In less than 5 years, this Simmons mattress has become lumpy and uncomfortable, creating back problems.
Now every morning we wake up with back pain. We are going to have to search for a new mattress even though we just finally paid this one off last year!

I bought a queen Simmons Back Care Esteem Pillow Top mattress. I spent over 1K on this about 5 years ago. The store that we bought it from went out of business before the year was up. I called Simmons because less than a year had gone by and we had fox holes. They sent out a person to come measure the depressions. they were slightly less than 1.5 inches each. They said they were okay and so no offer was made to help or any ideas as to how to fix the problem.
I tried buying extra foam pads to go on top (sheets won't fit over that) now we are on the hunt for a new bed, less than 5 years out. Too Bad, Simmons, Not buying another one.

I purchased a Simmons mattress in 2001. After 2 years the middle of the bed started getting a hump. I went back to where I purchased it and they made me give them a check for $100.00 (Mattress disscounters)in case the mattress had a stain. Well a man came and checked the mattress and a week later I received a letter telling me the hump was less than an inch and they would not be replacing it. Well a few years has pasted and the hump has gotten bigger and where you lay feels like you are laying in a hole. If you try to move over you are rolling up a hill and you slide back down. My husband has put a piece of plyboard under the mattress this helps a little.
A few weeks ago I called Simmons directly they sent another man out to check the bed, this time he took pictures of the mattress and said it looked pretty bad to him but he only worked for bed check not Simmons.
Well today I received a letter from Simmons. this is what it said. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist you with your Simmons product. Simmons offers a limited warranty and strives to be as fair as possible when evaluating warranty claims. In assessing your claim, we found no structural failure in either the mattress or box springs/foundation. In addition, the compaction of the panels in this style of bedding is to be expected. The compression does not affect the product's durability. As with other beds of this type, the thicker and more luxurious the filling materials, the more susceptible they are to compaction. Please note that this should not be considered a defect. The mattress is contouring to the shape of your body. As a result of these finding, we are unable to offer a replacement because the product is performing normally. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to assist you.
So as you can see Simmons says that if you buy a new mattress, buy the cheapest one they have, because if you buy the best one you will sink in 2 years and have back problems.
We purchased this mattress because the salesman said it would last a long time and the swedish foam would last forever. How can Simmons say this is normal of high quality mattresses? We paid $1,600 for this mattress and expected to have a good mattress for more than a couple of years. I thought that Simmons was a good company but I guess I was wrong if this is how they treat their customers. I just want them to fix my mattress or replace it. What good is a warranty if the company treats you like this.

Six years ago we bought a Simmons King mattress-nobility firm. After 3 years we weren't sleeping well since the mattress 'caved in on the edges' where most of our body weight was displaced. Robinson's-May had closed and we thought we had no recourse even though our mattress was under a 10-year warranty.
We then learned we could go direct to Simmons for help . This required taking pictures of the mattress to show we had a 1/1/2 inch depression. We measured over an inch depression took the pictures of the mattress, gaping holes where the mattress handles 'pulled out' and waited for response. For a mattress that is supposed to be 'firm' it is flimsey and can be easily bent. We have the original sale papers and diagram showing us how often and in what way we should turn the mattress, which we did but it hasn't helped.
We received a letter saying they were unable to offer a replacement having found 'no structural failure'. Admitting in the letter that 'today's' products are more upholstered than they were a few years ago it is not an indication of an inferior product.
I am 65 years old and my husband is 76 years old and we do have back problems which are aggravated by our mattress. Yet Simmons won't stand by their product in good faith and are 'nit picking' for parts of an inch.

I bought a crib from Simmons Juvenile Furniture about 2 years ago now. Last night, my son woke me up as little ones do, just b/c he was fussy. I lowered the side of the crib, as I cannot reach over the top of it, took my son out and rocked him back to sleep. I then walked over to the crib with him to place him back down, when the whole lowered side of the crib broke and fell off. I was barely putting any pressure on the side at all, as I was holding my son.
I woke my husband to see if it could be fixed or if it was a mistake I made. It turns out that the whole plastic piece on the right side of the crib broke off and went flying across the room. Thank god my son was in my arms and not standing at the crib when this happened as he would have fell right out of the crib. I did call the company today and got the part replaced for free (with a bit of a fight) and they said it would take 7-10 days to get the part. I complained about that too, as where is my infant son going to sleep for 7-10 days?
Now my concern is as my son is growing older, children are known to bounce on the beds, holding the rails and stand and pull on them, what if it breaks again?? We did nothing to have it happen this time, imagine if my son had been a jumper? He would have flown across the room. The make of the crib is a Simmons model number 239180 04-289. I am nervous now for my son in this crib, but I dont have the money to buy a new crib. I see a lot of sleepless nights ahead of me for a while.

We purchased a Simmons Beauty Rest, Pillow Top,Back Care Ultimate mattress approximately 2-3 years ago and have taken excellent care of it (flipped mattress over and also top to bottom every 2 weeks per instructions). No matter what we do, the mattress sags in the middle. We went to the store that sold the mattress set to us (John Eye Big Sandy Superstore); they gave us a complaint form to fill out and mail in.
We did this and after several weeks, they sent us a letter and asked us to contact Simmons Company. We sent the information to them which they did not accept; we had to fill out their complaint forms. We did this and several weeks passed before they sent us another letter saying we had to take pictures of the mattress set and instructions how to take the pictures. We did this and mailed the pictures to them. After more weeks passed we received a letter saying they found no structural failure in eith the mattress or box springs.
They said compaction of the panels in this style of bedding is to be expected, and that the mattress is contouring to the shape of our bodies. They said they were encouraging us to turn and rotate the mattress every few months to minimize the impressions??? We have done this all along. To summarize their letter---as a result of these findings, we are unable to offer a replacement because the product is performing normally.
Today, July 25, 2005, I called and talked to Casandra at Simmons Company. It was unbelievable the way I was treated. She said if I wanted to wait 90 days I could start the complaint process all over again; send paperwork and pictures again. When I told her I could send a xerox copy of what I sent before (it had not changed), she said it would be refused. She also said the pictures could change in 90 days. I asked her to send a representative to our home to see for himself or to test it out. She said, we don't have a rep in your area and besides they wouldn't lie on your bed. I then asked her to send a truck by and pick it up which she thought I was being ridiculous. When I asked to speak to owner, Charlie Itell, she said he wouldn't answer my call and a letter to him would be returned.

I purchased a Simmons matress and matching box springs from Heilig Meyers of Keyser, WV ( who is now out of business) in Sept 1996. At the time of delivery the delivery persons said that my bed which consisted of a wooden headboard and footboard with side metal rails and 3 wooden slats was not enough support. At that time I went back to the store and asked what bedframe I needed to be covered under the warranty. I was sold a metal H type frame and told to use the 3 slats along with it. Appx May of 2002 the mattress started to lean sidways in the middle. By this I mean it literally leaned out on one side and leaned in on the other side about 3-4 inches from the bottom.
I checked a few consumer sites on the internet and quickly became concerned from other complaints that I would not receive any claim satisifaction from Simmons. I called Simmons and they sent me a 4 page claim form, which I filled out and returned along with my Purchase invoice, and per claim form about 8 pictures of the box springs, mattress, and frame.
I received back a letter that says I do not have the required frame and slats for this matress set. According to their claim form and the pictures of the types of frames, I feel that what I was using and what was recommended from their sales representatives (Hielig Meyers) and the price that I paid for the best mattress set and warranty that it should be covered no questions asked.
