I purchased 2 sofas and recliner during Veterans Day sale. The Tulsa store charged over $760 more per sofa than a Muskogee store quoted for the same sofa. I would have waited on call back from the other store but didn’t want to miss the Veteran Day sale with military discount. Some discount/sale! I was told I could pick up recliner but when I called to schedule the pick up I was told the recliner had to be ordered. Delivery was 199. But when I later called to pay the delivery fee, the price jump to 399.00 because they had to change to tax rate on the entire purchase.

They sent me an agreement to sign which states they charge a 33% stocking fee once the order has been placed as well as no guarantee on delivery time which was highlighted in yellow. She said expected delivery is December 15 but no guarantees. I specifically stated I have to have the furniture by Christmas. I have not signed he agreement and have no idea if my order has been placed. I will never deal with this company again.

When you're paying top dollar, you expect a certain level of service. Not the case with Bassett Furniture. They use an outside company for furniture deliveries -- and if you get a crew of idiots making the delivery, it's totally your problem. Such was the case for us -- almost $7,000 of furniture was delivered by a team of morons who didn't know the first thing about handling furniture. After they bumped my walls, scratched my paint, scuffed my floors and nearly knocked over my lamps - my furniture was finally in place. The drawers don't open and close properly, and my sectional has uneven padding, making one of the seats lopsided. I wouldn't buy from them again.

We looked at the Benchmade Live Edge table at 2 showrooms before ordering. We were well aware that no two pieces of real wood are the same, however, the table has MANMADE holes in 1/4 of the top which is clearly a MISTAKE. No one would want this table, it's distracting from the beautiful wood. It was very $$$$ expensive. Bassett says, tough luck. Shameful customer service thru Fayetteville, AR and Corp. We will NEVER order from them again. Their mistake becomes your mistake. Buyer beware!

We've had two experiences with Basset. Once with a couch and loveseat and once with a sectional. Both times there seemed to always be total confusion from the sales staff from start to finish. It felt like we were dealing with a brand new employee each time. Poor knowledge of products and no real understanding of our order. Every time I called to check or ask a question they seemed totally stumped. Our leather sectional back cushions are all tearing away from the frame after 2 years. We re-ordered seat cushions with new fabric and this has confused the staff every step of the way. So aggravating and we will never buy another thing from Basset.

Save your money and don’t buy from Bassett. I ordered a custom sofa from them and was very specific of the comfort level I wanted. Visited the showroom 6 times prior to ordering. Always dealt with same sales person, and sat in same sofa. Confirmed that the comfort level in the sofa would be identical to the showroom model. Was assured it would be the same.

Sofa was delivered 4 weeks later and it was gorgeous to look at but hard as a rock. Not at all like the super comfy model in the showroom. I reported it to the sales clerk AND the store manager and received the runaround and was told that to put the cushions on the floor and walk on them to break them in. Who does that???! Managed to track down the district manager’s email address after the lack of response from the store level. He simply turned it over to customer service. The Customer service rep was very sweet, but in the end, after them sending a service tech out who simply turned the sofa upside down and also unzipped the cushions, could not resolve this issue for me. This was nowhere near the first piece of custom furniture I have purchased, but I will never EVER purchase so much as a throw pillow from Bassett furniture again. Go to ETHAN ALLEN folks!

Nov 7, 2018 I purchased $14,000 of furniture including a custom upholstered couch for $2600, upholstered headboard, and bedding. As the delivery men were unwrapping the couch I could see huge wrinkles in the front upholstery. I called my sales rep, Gia, and sent her pictures. She first said she would send a technician to iron out the wrinkles. Then said she would reorder a second couch.

The second couch arrived weeks later with the same issue. Wrinkles. I have called the Dulles VA store manager, John **. He said he would refer it to customer service. I am tired of dealing with this. I have asked for the couch to be picked up and a check sent to me since I already paid the credit card bill. No response. Taking advantage of customers needs to STOP! Ordered more than $20,000 in furniture from Bassett, including a large, custom-made dining room table. One side of the table wobbles (either through incorrect construction/assembly or damage during transport) but the delivery guys set it up and left... Furthermore, the legs were not properly aligned and installed at the factory that caused uneven spacing at the table top, visible to everyone sitting at the table. We then sent photos to Bassett's customer service, we had to follow-up a week later just to learn that they could not find the photos. Absolutely terrible experience.

Bought a Bassett Custom Dining Room table and 4 Custom Dining Room chairs in January 2019. The furniture looks good but it's not so good if you actually plan on using it. All 4 chairs wobbled so they sent someone out to "fix" them. The repairman said the chairs wobbled because my ceramic tile floors weren't level. He said that it's not just my floors but ALL floors that have this problem. I was told the chairs won't wobble as long as I don't move them from where he "fixed" them. So now the problem is if I so much as move a chair 1/4 of an inch out of the spot where this guy adjusted it, the chair wobbles. When I spoke to the manager, I asked if I'm supposed to have the repair guy come out to re-adjust the chairs if I move them around for company, she laughed. I was serious.

NOTE: I never had this problem with my other wooden chairs (made by another company). So, if you plan on buying any Bassett "Custom Made" chairs I think you will have the same problem. After paying approx. $300 a chair they simply suggested I get felt pads to absorb some of the wobble. I'm disappointed and very unhappy about the whole ordeal. On the bright side however, my grandchildren enjoy it because they get to "wobble while they eat!"

We ordered a custom sofa from our local Bassett Furniture store in Ocala FL for our newly constructed house in Aug.1999. We were looking for a specific size, height of arms, and fabric. They were able to fabricate just what we ordered, and 20 years later is still in great condition. Just recently ordered new foam cushion inserts for the seats, and were able to replace ourselves. No deterioration, no cracks, etc., so I would say very good quality furniture.

I purchased two $1000 recliners in a what was pitched as a “high durability” fabric (polypropylene). Within two months the fabric began pilling. At the end of the first year it was so severe and unsightly that I contacted Bassett’s Consumer Affairs department - along with pictures of the fabric. I was told that nothing could be done, they are not responsible for pilling. Second, every few months the bolt falls off the recliner handle and I have to turn the chair upside down to reattach it (after I find it).

Third, at the same time I purchased my chairs, my daughter purchased a $1600 sofa from Bassett. Within six months she noticed an unevenness in her seat cushion. Bassett reordered new foam and sent it to her to restuff. The job of placing a tight fitting foam into a seat cushion was no small feat. Not to mention that we had to have a new expensive sofa repaired. All in all we are highly dissatisfied with the current quality of the company. I have previously purchased five pieces from Bassett about ten years ago and was very satisfied with the quality. Unfortunately I would not recommend buying furniture from this company.

I’ve contact Bassett customer service and all they did was send me copy of the warranty (which I didn’t receive at the time of purchase) and tell me my issues were not covered by the warranty. I have no small children and no pets so there is no reason this should be happening other than very poor quality. They actually told me that the pilling was caused by friction including friction by a throw or blanket. They never even set a rep. to look at it. When shopping for new furniture, we had a bad experience with leather furniture in the past and decided to spend more money and check out Bassett. We purchased two power leather recliners and a sofa with recliners less than two years ago. We spent close to $5000, but didn’t hesitate because we were assured we were purchasing quality furniture. The headrest area on the one recliner looks like the color has worn off, the side of our arms the color is worn off, several marks on the other armrest, and a big white spot on the side of the other. I purchased the extended warranty and was under the impression it would cover these things but in reading the fine print, I realized that was not the case.

I contacted my local store and spoke with the manager. She apologized and said there was nothing she could do since it was past a year since we purchased. She offered to give me the name of a company that I could pay to fix it. I told her that was unacceptable and requested to speak to her manager. We went round and round and she refused to offer any names or contact information for her superiors. I asked for the corporate number and she told me I could look it up online. I left a message with corporate and I’m still waiting for them to call me.

I’ve been on the front line of customer service for 20 years and this is a complete joke and I feel completely mislead and robbed by this store. Had I spent $1500, I’d still be upset but this is beyond unacceptable when you spent $5000. A company with integrity and who has quality products wouldn’t allow this to happen and would want to make it right and correct whatever went wrong. They wouldn’t say too bad, it’s a few months past our fine print. Disgraceful!

We purchased several pieces of Bassett furniture, a little over a year ago and are extremely displeased with the quality. The fabric, on our sofa is showing all-over wear/pilling and the table has multiple small dents/scratches. Several months after purchase I was concerned with the sofa and contacted our store directly (they came out twice over a few month period). Our main concern was the amount of pilling and wear on the fabric body and edges. The representative used a fabric fuzz remover and said the pilling should not continue and suggested to speed the process we could have the fabric cleaned (which would stop the process).

We were also told at this time that pilling was not covered by their warranty. I've since purchased a fuzz remover, had the fabric cleaned and still have found the need to de-fuzz it every few months. After a bit over a year the fabric looks worn and shabby. We are newly retired and did our research before our move and purchase. We truly believed Bassett to be a quality product. We were also told (by our sales person), at the time of purchase, that the fabric we chose was a higher grade fabric (with a higher price point). I believed at the time we had made a quality purchase.

I've had many upholstered pieces over my lifetime and have never experienced this type of breakdown in such a short amount of time (my last sofa was 15 years old and never pilled or showed fabric wear). I'm also not one to complain for minor imperfections, however this was a major purchase, I'm now faced with replacing. At the same time we purchased a dining table and chairs. I agree with others that the wood is very soft and dents/scratches easily. I'm not sure but it may be both softwood and/or an inferior finish. Read the fine print! After contacting both the store and the manufacturer directly I was told they were sorry I was dissatisfied but the warranty doesn't cover my problems.

I contacted the Bassett company and asked if these pieces were sold as seconds or just stained over. I thought the quality of the oak would be more selective. My wife seems to think that this is part of look (Distressed) but this is not the case on the wood used on any of the draw fronts so why on some of the tops? In early October my furniture was delivered and the cushions were all puckered between the welting and the sides. Also the fabric was cut too large for the cushions and so there was too much fabric and it was baggy in many areas. The arms of the sofas weren't taut and were baggy, the welting was crooked and the sofas looked like they were upholstered by amateurs. In addition there wasn't enough padding over the arms so when you put your hand on the arms, you felt the wood. They were horrible in so many ways. I refused delivery. I took lots of photos and showed them to the Manager of Bassett Furniture in Middletown, NJ and she apologized to me and agreed that it was terrible.

2 weeks later, I was told that everything was "fixed" and they wanted to redeliver it. The things that were wrong could not be fixed unless they did it all over but I had no choice but to have them bring it back. When they redelivered the sofas, the only thing they fixed was the grease stain and nothing else so I once again refused delivery. I can't say we were not warned! We have friends that tried to steer us away from Bassett based on their experience and they encouraged us to read the reviews. The reviews were poor, so we brought our concerns to the manager and saleswoman. They convinced us that we should not take the reviews seriously and that they were confident that we would be happy with the delivery and the product. The delivery was on time and professional and we initially loved the furniture and rug that we purchased. We still love the furniture, however less than two weeks later the rug started to unravel in the area located adjacent to the couch.

It looks damaged and defective. It was an expensive rug but obviously poor quality. I am still in the process of email exchanges as the company is saying that it is "normal wear and tear". So a fraying, unraveling rug is what we should expect after 2 weeks? We sent pictures, but they say that it looks normal, like it's shedding instead of unraveling. We read reviews of what we are now experiencing - company denying that there is an issue and refusing to take action. This review is meant to hopefully save someone from making the same mistake we did. We moved forward and purchased from them despite the reviews. It is in your best interest not to do this.

Updated on 06/27/2017: We purchased a rug that was clearly defective and actually unraveling before our eyes. Initially the company tried to say that this was normal wear and tear. However, after several weeks the sales representatives at Bassett convinced the rug manufacturer that this was not the case. The manufacturer finally agreed to allow us to exchange our rug. The sales representative and store manager helped us pick out a beautiful rug... from a different manufacturer. We are still frustrated that the manufacturer refused to hear our complaint.

We have not received the rug, however we do not expect any problems (fingers crossed!). We love working with the sales manager and sales rep- they have an amazing ability to bring colors and pieces together perfectly. We feel that the manufacturer was at fault, and that the team worked to help us with the problem to the best of their ability.

Bought leather reclining sofa and loveseat 3+ years ago and paid long dollar plus bought Guardsman protection plan. Broken release lever, broken spring, discolored/worn leather --- items not excluded in warranty are now not covered items. With just two adults in home (no kids) why so much breakage? Couldn't even get a Bassett tech to help if I bought parts and paid for service call. Would never buy Bassett again.

On 1/29/17, I attempted to purchase a sectional sofa from Bassett by depositing $1700.00, I subsequently returned to Bassett on 2/8/17 to cancel the furniture warranty and instead purchase another piece for the aforementioned sectional. I paid for that piece in full. After waiting 8 weeks, which was the longer spectrum of the 6-8 week delivery window, I called the store to find out the status of my order only to be told that the furniture had been redirected because they had mistakenly routed it to the 'purchase' address instead of to the 'ship to' address. Please note that I was never apprised of this situation, and had I not called I would never have known.

It is now 10 weeks since the purchase and purchase attempt were initiated and since Bassett has been holding onto my $1700.00 deposit as well as my additional $587.00 and there is no furniture or hope of receiving same on the horizon. I called today and was told by my salesperson, Mary Jane, that the person who tracks shipments would be off until Thursday and that she will be on Wednesday and Thursday. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there was no manager because the manager had moved away. I have been on the phone for 26 minutes waiting to speak to customer service. My advice to anyone contemplating purchasing from Bassett... Don't do it!!! I certainly won't ever make that mistake again. At this point, I just want to move on and get my money back. Buying furniture should not be so aggravating.

Since we live out of town we were required to pay the entire amount upon purchase instead of the customary 50% deposit. On 12/23/16 I was told that the manufacturer had run out of leather and there would be a delay. Of course, no time estimate could be provided. We are now at week fourteen and still no furniture. The only response I get is "I'm sorry", and "I don't know when it will be delivered". I am waiting for a response to my most recent email requesting detailed information on the furniture's whereabouts. So far, no response. After reading others experiences I am beginning to worry about the condition of the furniture, should it arrive. I would not recommend doing business with this company.

I purchased a 'Bassett' brand Copper Top table from Bassett Furniture. Before I purchased it, I asked about the durability of the copper top finish. I was told it is highly durable. Up to this point, I've had no complaints. The other evening we had tomato sauce which unbeknownst to us dripped onto the bottom of the glass jar it was in and thus onto the table top. After dinner I went to wipe the table down and there was a large stain on the copper top where the sauce had dripped. The sauce to table contact time had to have been approx 30 minutes if that.

I contacted Bassett, sent them photos and they said they could do nothing because wine and red sauce do unrepairable damage to the table top. I asked them why this information was not provided to me when I asked about the durability before I purchased it. We are Italian and had I known sauce of all things could affect it this way, I would never had purchased it as we have this quite often. A kitchen table should be able to endure food products spilling on it. I should not have to purchase a warranty to cover a KNOWN hidden (from their buyers) defect in their product. I am very disappointed with their handling of this and will be going elsewhere in the future for my furniture.

When the couch arrived, I immediately thought this wasn't the right couch. It looks so wrong in the space. I have tried to work with the store to return only a portion of the sectional to purchase a bigger portion of the sectional and they are not willing to honor my request. They are willing to sell me a chair, though, to fit the spot that a bigger sectional should be in. I have escalated my request to Corporate and I am waiting for a response. On May 28th, we purchased ($3K) a custom dark walnut dining room table with endurance finish with two leaves and a custom dark walnut sideboard. After this purchase was made, we had all of our cabinets re-stained to match the exact color of the purchased dining room table and sideboard. On July 8th, the dining room table and sideboard were delivered. The dining room table finish in one spot was poorly done and one corner was crushed on the tabletop. One of the leaves' edge was poorly done as well. The sideboard top had a damaged spot, which they tried to fix before shipping and one door that looked sun-bleached. We expect variations in wood, but this was too drastic and unacceptable. On July 27th, a replacement dining room tabletop, a replacement sideboard top and a replacement sideboard door were ordered from the factory and we were told it would take 2-4 weeks.

On August 15th, the warehouse called and told us the sideboard door was in, but neither of the tops were in yet. On August 17th, the warehouse called and told us that the endurance finish machine broke down and the part was on order from the manufacturer, but the part was on backorder. In early October, Bassett Furniture sent a third party out to replace the sideboard top and sideboard door. These were finished and installed correctly. On October 28th, the replacement dining room tabletop was delivered. In nine different places, the endurance finish was not complete and/or peeling and one of the leaves did not line up with the table once installed.

On November 1st, the warehouse called and told us that the endurance finish is no longer available and we had a choice to have a replacement tabletop made without the endurance finish or Bassett Furniture could send a third party out to try to fix the endurance finish. We chose to forgo the endurance finish. On November 3rd, the warehouse called and told us a replacement dining room tabletop had been ordered. On November 18th, the warehouse emailed and told us that the dark walnut finish was discontinued as of October 13th and suggested a close match in color. Six months later, we still do not have an acceptable tabletop and are now waiting for a response back from Bassett Furniture.

I mean, literally peel off like skin after a sunburn. I contacted the Temecula Ca store, where I purchased the sofa, and told them my issue. The customer service department directed me to a leather repair company. The leather repair company told me that there was a defect in the leather as it was not bonded. They pretty much told me it was unfixable. I again contacted the local store and started to get the whole runaround. In the end, I was told that there was nothing they could do for me as did not buy the extended warranty. Then they continued to quote me $800 to repair the one end that looked absolutely hideous.

What if it only lasts 2 years again? I bought from Bassett because I thought they had exceptional quality and the sales lady sure backed that up with words. Why would I need an extended warranty with that kind of quality craftsmanship? In the end, I am extremely dissatisfied with the product and disappointed with the service. I should have bought at Costco! They would have taken it back!

We spent over $10,000 on our furniture. $8,000 of it was on a sofa and love seat. We bought this furniture in Huntsville Alabama. We only had it a few weeks and we notice that the leather on the seat cushions was wrinkling up like the cushions was sinking in. Called the store, they replaced the cushions. Same thing happened, mind you, we paid extra for the extra firm cushions, so this would not happen. We call the main number in Virginia and they replaced the cushions again. Still the seat cushions are sagging. We complained again, and mind you this is during a six or seven month period. The main office determined that it was because the leather was "soft". When picking out this furniture and talking with our designer, I expressed how we had bought leather furniture before and I did not like the leather sagging and the relaxed look. She did not give us any type of information about the leather we were buying.

So now a year has passed and we have a very expensive sofa and love seat. That is a year old and looks like it is 10 years old. The piping around the cushions, which is not leather at all, it is plastic and the painted that matches our leather is peeling off. Stephanie is the office manager in the Huntsville store is a rude and will lie right to your face. She told us the piping around the cushions is out of warranty and it was not. The warranty should start when the furniture is delivered.

We called 1 week before the warranty had expired. I regret buying this furniture, but I regret more not reading the reviews of this overpriced bargain barn furniture. Oh yes, I should also mention after the third trip of delivering our replacement cushions the delivery driver said they have a lot of complaints on the cushions. The cushions have a 7-yr warranty. But now the store or the main office said they will no longer help us. You have been warned! If you want better quality furniture, I would go to Big Lots!

This has been resolved to my entire satisfaction. Bassett took the furniture back and gave me a full

    Original Review: July 10, 2016

I purchased over $8000 of furniture and I hate it. It was delivered in January. The recliner hits the carpet and I was told by a representative that it will hit carpet and should be used on wood floors. It will not close unless you pick up the front and jam the 3 pieces back. Funny the so-called designer was at my home and the carpet was there then. They sent a repair person out that put a washer and a couple of sticky things on the front feet and told me my carpet was to blame and left. I asked for 2 higher front legs, but NO. The sectional sofa is awful. The back cushions are wrinkly and the front of the seat cushions have a ripple in the front. Not a contemporary sofa which is what I asked for. They gave me $350 rebate and a video on how to 'plump' the cushions every month. My old sofa was over 30 years old and the cushions were still square like they were when new. I should have kept it. I never had to do anything to them.

The sales person told me that the cushions were stuffed with fiberfill in 3 sections that would not 'droop' over time. When I went back to the store to complain about the recliner and the cushions the salesperson said 'well our cushions are over 2 years old yours will be even in 2 years too'. Really? I have to wait for the furniture to 'age'. The furniture must be made in China. I took a back cushion to an upholsterer to see what he could do. He measured the thickness and found that it varied around the cushion and that the welting which should be cut on a bias is just part of the cushion which is why it wrinkles and why the bottom corners are hanging down and have no stuffing in them. I guess I am supposed to fix that too. The corner piece seat cushion does not fit the base and the right hand cushion overlaps it. The left one does not.

The right back cushions also overlap the corner piece, the left one does not. Corporate and the North East manager see absolutely nothing wrong with the look of the sofa. I sent them pictures. The corner back cushions cannot be turned around because they put 2 pleats in the back I guess to make it rounded. STUPID! I can't wait until it needs reupholstering so that I can have it done right. I would not recommend Bassett to any one who wants nice furniture. I wish I had gone to Crate and Barrell instead. Bassett will tell you anything to make the sale, after that you are on your own. Maybe I should take them to small claims court and get them to install wood floors so the recliner will work right. How stupid! There should be a warning not to use it on carpet.

My husband and I purchased a sofa from Bassett Furniture several months ago. We chose the style, cushion content, and fabric all right there in the store. The "sample" sofa was very comfortable and we were completely assured that a sofa "just like this one" would be made for us. It did arrive as ordered by us but after some fairly light use, we noticed the cushions sagged and fabric rolled off the cushion core. We contacted Bassett and voiced our concern. Over the next several months they came to the house three times with several new cores each set containing different fills. All still sagged and fabric continued to roll. We now have eight extra cushions in our basement.

Fabric on this sofa is faulty. It stretches in such a way that it cannot contain the cushion core nor stay in place on the core. Seams are always out of whack on the seats and the backs. Final "fix" from Bassett was that we need to unzip the cushions and backs and readjust the cores. Sofa is SO saggy and fabric rolls so bad, that this would be required several times a day.

What we want... our $2100 refunded in full due to faulty product sold to us. What we did... reported them to the BBB. Report is "on file". What Bassett has offered... a tutorial on how to unzip and adjust the core which must be done several times a day. Also, they said they would give us $250. That check has never arrived. What we will do in future... Never shop at Bassett again.

The distributor that sold us the furniture agreed it must have been a mistake made in manufacturing and ordered us 6 replacement drawers. Vaughn Bassett would not replace the drawers as they are calling it an engineering change to accommodate movement in the wood. If this is the reason, the other drawers without the "eye sore" grooves should be replaced, so that the ridiculous design of the drawers at least match on both dressers. Poor, poor, customer service. In November 2015 we started our selection process with designer Jennifer ** from the Austin, TX store #0301 to choose the best design, color and style for a dining room table and chairs, as well as a new sofa, ottoman and love seat. Jennifer came out to the house and based on the antiques we currently have helped us with a design for the various pieces. We discussed color and scale on numerous occasions regarding the sofa, love seat and ottoman, as well as type of fabric. Once that was selected we moved onto discussing my concerns about blending a custom ordered table and chairs with our French country antiques.

I brought in drawers from the buffet that would be in the small dining room space to be sure we would have a wood color and finish that would match. We also looked at wood and painted color samples and walked the store on at least 5 visits before settling on the right color, style and texture for the wood top to go with the painted colored frame. I expressed many times that it was important that the color we selected, Medium Walnut with an heirloom finish be the same color and texture as the sample table in the store and she assured me it would. I also made it clear that the table and chair seats were the same color and again she assured me they would be.

On December 30, 2015 we put a $3000 deposit down on our selections and told Jennifer that we were in no hurry. We understood that it was the holiday season and we were fine with the furniture arriving at the beginning of March if necessary. On 2/13/2016 the furniture for order # ** was delivered, less one dining chair. We were notified prior to delivery that one of the chairs had been damaged and that it would be replaced.

The living room furniture was unloaded first, and we immediately noticed the ottoman was lower than the sofa and love seat. When the dining table was unloaded, we could tell the table top was not the correct color. We also quickly noticed the leaves for the table did match the table. It also did not match the Medium Walnut with heirloom finish that was based on the sample table in the store, we had ordered. We could tell the color, shade and tones were not just a color variation but a clear difference from the color we chose.

We compared the tabletop to the pamphlet and noticed the table top was closer to Cocoa and the leaves were closer to Coffee both colors in the Custom Dining brochure in addition to the finish being more of a flat almost grayish tone. We also attempted to open the table to install the two leaves, and noticed the table would not expand enough for only one leaf. We also noted the chairs were not the same color as the leaf or table top. We informed the delivery team leader that we wanted to refuse the delivery. He indicated we should call the store, as he was not authorized to take the furniture back.

We contacted the store and spoke with Jennifer **. She informed us they could not take back the furniture and they would work with us. She asked we bring in a sample of the problems so they could look at them. We accepted delivery with the understanding the problems were not rectified. As we looked closer at the table and noted the heirloom finish on one half of the table is different than the other half. You can feel the different when running your hand over it. In addition, the two halves do not fit together properly, as they are slightly offset so there is no smooth transition from edge of one half to the other.

We then examined the sofa and love seat and noticed one corner of the sofa had softer spring tension than the rest of the furniture. The softness was so bad that anyone who sits in that corner immediately rolls towards the left rear corner. The opposite side did not have this problem. Also, the ottoman was only 16 high and it was supposed to be 19 high according to the dimensions of the standard ottoman we ordered. It was specifically ordered to match the height of the sofa and love seat.

We immediately brought a leaf, chair and furniture sample into the store within 2 hours of delivery. Jennifer, who placed the order, quickly noted the colors were not what she thought they should be. She also brought out the sample we used to pick our color and noted they were not close. This would indicate it is not a slight color variation that comes from stain or protective coating application. Jennifer informed us she would notify the customer service manager. On 2/15/2016 the Customer Service Manager Tammy ** contacted us via email. We arranged a time for her to come to our home to view all the problems. A date and time were established and then she cancelled on that day. She indicated she would refund the delivery fee due to the inconvenience, which to this day has not been credited.

On 2/25/2016, Tammy and Jennifer came to our home to look at the furniture. They brought out the 4x4 color sample we used to make our selection. Tammy took pictures of the problems and commented that colors did look different in addition to the table not opening to accommodate the two leaves. She also agreed the table halve edges do not line up. She also acknowledged the ottoman was not the correct height and the softness of one side of the sofa.

Tammy also asked if we were willing to work with them to resolve this issue. Tammy also asked us to send her all the pictures we had taken. She said she would submit a claim and asked if we would be willing to have the items replaced. We indicated we would be willing to reorder but would want to re-select the color due to the huge discrepancy between the sample colors and the product we received. She said that would likely be the best solution. She also coordinated for a technician to come out and repair the springs on the sofa and level the chairs. There were several email exchanges over the next week discussing which color would be a better option to achieve a color closer color to what we originally wanted. We were not sure if the selected color would be similar to the samples. We were encouraged to come into the store to make selections.

On 3/2/2016, we were contacted by Eveleen ** who said she was taking over the claim. She asked us to resend all the pictures we had in PDF format because the factory could not accept pictures in the jpeg format. We asked about the pictures we sent Tammy and the ones Tammy took and Eveleen told us she didnt know anything about those. She said the factory needs new ones to process the claim. We reformatted the pictures and sent them to Eveleen. For the next 10 days, we inquired about the status, and were told they were waiting on the factory. When we asked if the factory was making a decision based on the pictures, we were informed that they didnt know the process and could not verify how the decision was made. This was obviously to cover themselves knowing full well that it was the case.

On 3/13/2016 we were notified by email that the factory rejected our claim saying it was a normal color variation and there was nothing else they would do. We were also informed the ottoman that we were told would be reordered, will not be reordered. We were informed they would send out the proper rails so the table would accept two leaves.

This is unacceptable; especially since the decision is based on pictures, which clearly show the variations. Everyone who came to the house could immediately see the various color differences. We could understand the color variation of the leaves and the table top was the same colors, but they are of different tones and shades. We have not received anything in writing indicating the reason for the rejection. There is nothing in writing why someone felt the ottoman which is 3 lower than specified in the brochures is also acceptable. That is purely false advertising of products dimensions. It is clear that the quality control is at the very least lacking in the factory. We have yet to be contacted by anyone at the district or corporate level with any explanation. If we had seen how many complaints there were about the customer service at Bassett we never would have purchased from them.

We were very excited because we found a couch that was exactly what we were looking for. We came back the next day after we got a chance to see the other couches. Nothing compared to the Sutton. Jesse was not in. A new salesperson who spoke broken English waited on us. We went through a couple colors to make sure that we picked the color that would go best. This was an ordeal as most of the fabric choices look like they have been in the catalog for about 40 years. After nearly 2 hours of finding bigger samples compare at and looking at them throughout the store (since the lighting is terrible in there) we found the perfect color. Our sales associate came back with the final quote. She told us $5,100! We were shocked!

How does the price go up $2k by changing the cloth to a different cloth. She then went through to explain that the number that we had seen ($4,199) was a 25% off price. The sale next weekend would just be another 5% off of that. Not 30% off of the price as Jesse had lead us to believe. Suffice it to say, we felt duped. We told him our budget and we had no business looking at a $7k sectional (My fiance and I collectively make well into the 6 figures). You can get much better products for much less money in the metroplex. Jesse pulled a classic sleazy sales move and keeps the negative salesperson stereotypes alive and well. Do not waste your time or money with Bassett.

I purchased a sectional from Bassett on 5/12/11. The total ended up being $6,518.04 (this included tax, delivery and their furniture "protection" plan). Basically, soon after I got the sectional, I noticed that the fabric would fray, leaving a piece of broken fiber. Honestly, I didn't realize this was a flaw in the fabric, because I had owned leather furniture for quite some time. Fast forward about three years. The fabric now is saggy and looks like an unmade bed. All of the back cushions have started to separate and look lumpy and are no longer comfortable. It's awful. I dealt with this for awhile, but decided to call when mother-in-law noticed how bad it looked and told me I should contact the store and see if/what could be done.

On 12/21, I contacted the "service" manager (a better name would be NO service manager) and she told me to send pictures. I did. I have heard NOTHING since then. I have tried calling, leaving messages, sending emails and even getting on a Bassett website to see if I could get service, and NOTHING! Last weekend I went to furniture store that recently opened up in my area and asked them what I could do about the sectional. The guy reviewed the pictures and asked me if I had had the fabric treated. I said, "Yes, as Bassett recommended it." He informed me that could be the issue with my fabric. He said the chemicals can cause fabric to break down, and clearly from the photos, he said that fabric had clearly broken down (failed). So much for "Fabric Protection Plan".

I did not expect Bassett to give me a refund or even "resolve" this issue. What I did expect, at the very least, was a phone call. I realize I've had the furniture over 4 years, but honestly, as much as I paid, I expected it to last at least 10. I also live in a rural area, 225 miles from the Bassett store. I think if I would have lived closer, I would have brought the cushions to the store and showed them in person. I would have liked the opportunity to ask a professional (at the store where I purchased it) about having it reupholstered and the cost involved. I was hoping that maybe they had someone they could recommend and maybe offer discounted price. Instead, I got nothing.

I would not recommend shopping at Bassett. The furniture is very expensive and looks great, at first, but if there is an issue, don't expect them to stand behind their product. My husband and I had decided to pay a little more because we chose cloth instead of leather, but we did not get the quality or the service that we paid for. Buyer beware.

I would like to warn people about purchasing from Bassett Furniture. We purchased a dining table from them and a little over a year after receiving the table the finish began to wear off. I contacted the store where the purchase was made and was referred to a "customer service representative". The representative strung me along for close to six months telling me she was "looking into it" but never provided any solutions to the problem and only responded to me when I initiated the conversation. In disgust, I wrote a letter to Bassett corporate from who I never received a response. I went back to the salesman who sold us the table and he investigated and finally told me there was nothing they could do because the table was beyond the 1 year warranty when I first contacted them and since I did not buy an extended warranty there was nothing they could do.

I don't know about you but I have owned several dining tables and have never had the finish wear off and this is on a table in a vacation home so is only used sporadically. I would think Bassett would be concerned about the quality of their products and seek to remedy the situation if not for me then at least for future customers. The "bone" that was finally thrown my way was that I could bring the table back to Bassett and they could see what they could do about the finish at my expense. Yah, like I am going to bring my table from across the state back to Bassett so they can refinish it?! How long will that take?! Forget it! I am done!

It took several months to get the correct cushions. They would send the wrong product over and over again. Meanwhile, we noticed that the cushions had indentions from where we sat. They finally got the correct cushions in and after one day of use, the "extra firm" cushions had the indentions too. After replacing the cushions AGAIN, the same indentions in the replaced cushions.

Called the corporate office and complained, they replaced the cushions AGAIN. The same problem with indentions. We were told that there is a 7 year warranty on cushions when we bought the furniture. We are now told after owning this junk for 6 months that the store will not help us and corporate will no longer replace the cushions. Bassett may have been quality furniture in the past, but not now. What is worse they do not stand behind their product.

The store manager said they would refund some of my money towards a store credit. I don't think that the quality of the leather is any good and that Bassett should check into their supplier. I also feel I should get a complete reimbursement for the recliner and they should take it back. I've bought other leather recliners and used more frequently and this has never happened. However after about three weeks, I noticed that the foam was losing support. I brought one of my cushions into the store and replaced the store model cushion with my (three week old cushion). I asked the sales people to compare the cushions. They were shocked at the difference. Bassett Furniture handled the situation by having someone come out and replace the foam. Unfortunately, they replaced it with the exact same foam (which lost support after 3 weeks again). After having the couch for a year, I am very dissatisfied. It is uncomfortable to sit on for more than 20 minutes. My next step is to buy replacement foam from an outside company.

They did not have the arm chairs in stock. A comfortable arm chair is most important to me. Since the store did not have any of the arm chairs in stock, I tried other arm chairs from a different line. I was not impressed by what they had in stock. I was told by the salesperson that what I was ordering was superior and that if I did not like it when it was delivered that they "would make it right" and that I could return everything.

A few weeks later, even though I had not taken possession of the furniture, I asked to take a side chair home to demo it, both for looks and comfort. Two hours in the chair convinced me that these chairs were not for me. The next day, we returned the chair to the store and told them we did not want the set. Remind you, none of this furniture had come in, none of it was delivered, it was not a custom set. It was from stock at their warehouse in Los Angeles. They charged me a restocking fee of close to $600. No amount of appeal or appeasement would change their minds. I will never do business with Bassett again. Perhaps you need to consider these things before you place your trust in the Bassett brand.

I found the same two chairs on the Bassett website for $300.00 less so I cancelled my store order on 7/12/15 which was within the time period given (72 hours) to change my mind. The store refused to match the online price. My so called sales agent was incompetent, rude (she hung up on me) and condescending. It is now 7/25/15 and all I get is a run around concerning my credit. The VA office says it's a store issue and the store says it's a bank issue. I'm out over $1000.00 at this time with no results from anyone. I think this delay is simply because someone lost a commission on my sale. I have filed a BBB complaint and I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the KY Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs. It's a shame that a Company with a former excellent reputation like Bassett has changed so much for the worse. Never again.

This has happened just approximately two weeks after warranty has expired. Rep has been helpful, but I'm not pleased with the brand. Rep said they don't sell bonded leather, so maybe they need to double check with manufacturer to make sure of that.

In May we went in to order a table and chairs. We have been having difficulty finding a match at other furniture stores to our hutch which we bought from Bassett in 1999. We took in a drawer to the hutch when we went into Bassett. Immediately the salesperson said he recognized the piece of furniture we bought in 1999. He explained that the stain for the hutch was being discontinued by most furniture stores. However, they had the exact stain in a table that could be custom made. He took us to a floor sample and the table color seemed to match our drawer. We ordered the table.

30 days later we received the table and chairs and the table has a TWO HUGE cracks at the bottom of the table. The delivery guys said they couldn't take it back unless I called the store. I called the store and a sales lady proceeded to tell me that I had to accept the table (damaged as it was) and she would schedule a repairman to come back and repair it. Of course, that was UNACCEPTABLE so I did not accept delivery of the table and told her I would not.

At the time I didn't realize that two chairs were also defective (stain discolorations) AND the stain doesn't match the hutch at all. I called Bassett again and they told me the following: 1) the manager agreed to reorder another table. 2.) I could bring in the two chairs for them to see them or keep them and get compensated by giving us 35% off another purchase (the general public gets 30% off). 3.) in time, the stain will lighten up.

About a week ago, we told the salesman that we were not satisfied and he said he would talk to his manager. I filled out a survey last week and explained our problem. Today, I called the corporate office and was abruptly transferred to a recording saying no one was available to take my call. To date, no one has called us to discuss this problem. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INFERIOR PRODUCTS.

As we were leaving another woman (who did not look like me- African American, needless to say) walked in and the sales person passed us to say hello to her. They also greeted others while we walked through the store. We decided we had had enough of the rudeness and walked out the door. I turned around and went back to the customer NO-Service desk where about 6-8 people were standing around. They all appeared to be white people. One black person was seated at the desk. I announced in a loud voice to be heard that we had walked around the entire store and not one person spoke to us, asked if they could help us or asked why we were there or not one word. I just want you all to know. They looked at me like I had two heads.

The black woman said "I'm sorry." I replied, "That's okay, I just want you all to know. I will go to Ethan Allan." A person with his back turned and said sarcastically "Enjoy." I said, "I will and I will spend my money there too." I left the store. Did not go to Ethan Allan but did go to Home Comfort right down the street where I was treated as a customer should be treated. We bought our furniture there. We saved a TON of money and it is very good quality. My advice is to stay out of Bassett Furniture unless you want to be treated rudely. Then I had to wait a further 2 months to get the right one, and I was treated like it was my fault. The sales lady ** acted like some secretary had ordered the wrong piece, when her invoice clearly showed that she had written it all wrong. Before they delivered the second table I phoned the office and spoke to ** to make sure it was the right table. I told her it was the table on the front of their catalogue. She told me they didn't have access to the catalogue. Seriously the head office doesn't have access to the catalogue? Finally in December of 2014 I got the right table.

On March 3 of 2014 I noticed a large crack in the back of one of my chairs and in the base of the table. The wood had literally split. I did as instructed and sent in pictures to head office. They emailed me one week later and told me they would replace the table. It is now June 16, 2015 and I'm still waiting. No one has called, emailed, and the store has passed all responsibility to some head office in the USA. Please beware of this company, they are poor quality and awful customer service. I purchased another sofa and loveseat last summer from the Bassett in Kennesaw, GA and the entire experience was a mess. I had a sense that the salesman wasn't the best and I should've acted on that and chosen to work with someone else. Yet in the end, I worked with the store manager and she was equally as unimpressive. The set I ordered in the summer came in a couple of months later with too many flaws: puckered stitching, the color was off, etc. After literally months of arguing because they wouldn't give me my money back I selected the set in gray (shown in photos); I ended up paying roughly $3k for the gray set.

I was ordering fabric samples to avoid issues with color again and they were out of roughly 75% of the fabrics I selected. The manager argued with me saying that I should've known by the pictures for some of the examples what the furniture would look like (color and style) even though I had shown her what the salesperson gave to me. He just kept making one excuse after another. The 3rd picture is what I bought from Bassett almost 9 years ago. It looks better than what I got this past Thanksgiving which is when the replacement set came in. It was a 6 month process, with an amazing lack of communication and clarity when there was communication, with an intention of passing the buck. I'll NEVER spend another dime with Bassett and I suggest you don't either. As you can see, the gray set is 6 months old and poor quality. Tell me if you think this is not discrimination? I have worked in the Fashion Industry for long time as a corporate designer and then I was an educator and a department head of a fashion department at a university for a while. Just recently I needed to work full time again so found this ad where they are looking for a design consultant for Bassett Furniture store so thought this would be perfect since I love interior design and done design consulting before. And the ad said "Previous Design and Sales experience is not required". This is basically sales job with high commission. I was very excited and made an appointment and went for an interview with the manager on December 12.

The manager thought I was highly qualified but during the interview, there was another older lady at the table just stood up and said, "By the way I am the district manager, and my name" such and such. "You have an accent." I said "oh!" Then she changed quickly and said, "Is not that we don't like people with accent, at this time we have full staff and don't need anyone." So I asked, "Why then this ad just came two days ago?" She said, "We just do this to see who will come to apply for a job." She said, "We will just keep your resume." So I left.

And yesterday I got notification by a job site that the Bassett Furniture looking for the Design Consultant again. So I thought well let me call so I did and left a voicemail this morning for the store manager who originally thought I was qualified. I left her a voicemail saying that last time I was not offered the job since I had accent told by the district manager so I hope this time I will be treated fairly. Guess what, I just received a phone message left by the same district manager and she said, "I reviewed your resume but we are going for the candidate with the furniture and interior industry."

But to my surprise the ad said "Previous Design and Sales experience is not required". So yes again she made this up so I cannot go for an interview this time. I already wrote a letter to the corporate CEO Robert Spillmann with a certified letter but did not get any response but realized this time when they posted the job they added additional message that "We do not discriminate anyone". We were told that our bedroom set should arrive in about 4 weeks. The time came and went, no word on our furniture. We called to inquire and were told that delays were common during the holiday season, that the warehouse closes for a period of time and orders get backed up. We patiently waited 6 weeks. When we finally got the call that our furniture was in for delivery, we were also informed that our dresser mirror arrived cracked and would have to be reordered...at least 4 more weeks of waiting.

We were set up with a delivery date and time for the other furniture, between 12:00 & 4:00 PM. On the night before the delivery, we received a confirmation phone call. The morning of the delivery, the delivery guy called at 9:40 AM and left a message that he was 10 minutes away from our home. Quickly, we had to find a number for the warehouse and call to say that we were not ready for him and could not accept the order that early. The driver phoned us back to ask when he could deliver. We set a time between 1:00 & 2:00 PM that afternoon with him. At 12:15 PM he called again to say that he was 10 minutes away. What??? Can this people not tell time? This time, disgusted but prepared, we told him fine. The two delivery guys were very quickly in and out, they hurriedly delivered the furniture giving us no time at all to inspect the pieces.

We noted a couple of paint chips right away but were told that we should call Bassett and they would handle touch-ups. Later, after thoroughly inspecting the pieces, we discovered more needed touch-ups. We thought rather than have their guy come out, we would just get touch-up paint from Bassett and do the touch-ups ourselves. NO WAY this was going to happen, they insisted that their guy come out. So we had to wait again, another week. In the meantime, we discovered what looked like small paint chips all along the trim work on our furniture, which appeared to have been painted over. The finish looked "distressed". Since these were custom paint pieces, we were very confused as to how this might have happened since we had NOT ordered the distressed finish for our pieces.

Again, we put in a call to Bassett and were told to have the guy that was coming out to do paint touch-ups take a look at the furniture and report back to them. On "touch-up" day, today, the guy they sent out showed up for the appointment with nothing but his small computer in hand...no paint. He said that he was not told that he needed to do paint touch-ups (the original reason for the appointment). Luckily, he had a can of spray paint in his truck in our color. We showed him the needed touch-ups but they were never taken care of because he concluded that we were given the wrong finish on our furniture in it's entirety, so he saw no reason to touch-up small chips. We had ordered a regular paint finish but were given a "distressed" finish instead which accounted for the holes all over, covered in paint and the "freckled" tops.

He said he would report his findings to the nearest Bassett store location (Westport, CT) and they would have to order us all new pieces. GREAT, more waiting and more time loss from work when they call with their 4-hour delivery window...that will make day 3 of lost work. A few hours after the guy left today, I phoned the Westport, CT store to make sure they had spoken with the guy and knew of his findings. They had indeed spoken with him but said they were unsure how the situation would be handled. The lady at the store that handles these issues was her usual unfriendly self and offered no apology whatsoever for the mistake, the inconvenience to us, or for the time we have already invested in the handling of all the issues we have encountered with the furniture set.

The attitude was more like it was all a bother to her. She impatiently said that she talked with the guy that came out to our place and is waiting to hear back from corporate as to how the situation will be handled...she "guesses" they will order new furniture for us. She said that she will contact us after hearing back from corporate...this is yet to be seen. To say that we are unhappy customers at this time is putting it mildly. How can a furniture company such as Bassett have such terrible customer service? How can this many things go wrong? Why isn't someone from that organization apologizing to us and assuring us that this situation will be rectified immediately? They have almost $6000.00 of our money, we have furniture that is not the furniture finish we ordered, plus to add insult to injury, the set they delivered has nicks and chips in the paint other than the intended "distressing.".

We still have not received our mirror at all and we have another nightstand on order. Both of these pieces will most likely not match the furniture we now have if they arrive with the "correct" finish. How can one company screw so much up and not even offer an apology? All we have gotten so far is attitude. They can't even manage to get us a can of touch-up paint...too much trouble. I am really upset about this because I really like Bassett's furniture better than anyone else's in our entire area. We need other furniture which we had planned to order from Bassett also but now we will think twice. What happened to this company? Some years back we ordered our living room furniture from them with no issues at all. Obviously, things have changed for the worse.

My house is full of Bassett furniture, which is why I chose to return to the store for two new chairs. That was a year ago. So far, chairs and ottoman were replaced due to flawed fabric. New chairs with different fabric were delivered. Cushions did not sit correctly in the chairs, was told the foam core was faulty, and that was replaced. New cores lifted each time someone sat in the chairs, so another set of chairs were sent out.

This is now the third set of chairs in one year, and the new ones are even worse. The front of the cushions are puckered across the entire front of the cushions. The fabric is puckered in several other places, the welt seams run crooked, the cushions are still lifting when someone gets up from the chair, one cushion will not sit fully into the chair, the other cushion slants toward the back.

In dealing with a business, drop the phone and get out the pen. I have a running written record, and truly believe that is the only reason anything has been done. Now my pen will say the only recourse is a full refund. I paid out $3444 for chairs. I have records of emails to corporate office, as well as store manager here in St. Louis, Missouri.

Bought a dresser from Bassett a few months ago. Sales rep was ok, not very knowledgeable about furniture or prices. We found a dresser we liked and ordered it. Came in 6 weeks later. I called to schedule a delivery. On the day of delivery, I called in the morning to verify time since I have to pick up my son. They said 3. They showed up at 4:30. Also, there was a scratch on it and the delivery guy told me the office would call me and send someone to look at it. He wouldn't take the piece back which is what I've experienced with other furniture stores. It's been 3 months, No one has called...

Given the amount of money I spent on this couch I expected a lot more. It smells. It has been two weeks and fabric or cushions still have a musky smell. It is not terrible but you cannot lay down on it and not notice it. Back cushions are wrinkled. Makes it seem like they took wadded up fabric off the factory floor to make my couch. It's the first thing you notice when looking at the couch. I may be able to take the covers off and iron them, but this is not something a customer should have to do. Seams are uneven. Not just a little uneven. It would be the first thing you notice about the couch if the pillows were not so wrinkled.

Customer service is not flexible. I figured since it was an expensive couch that their customer service must be better than the "cheap" places like Rooms To Go. Turns out just the opposite. The 5" bun legs on the couch make it sit too high and they stick out from the sides since it's the smallest couch they sell. They do not accept exchanges on the legs after a sale, however they will sell you new ones. At about the same time, we got a desk and chair from Rooms To Go. We easily exchanged a chair at Rooms To Go. The only positive I can think of about Basset is the fabric appears to be durable.

I am very upset and disappointed after purchasing the Bassett Warrenton Cocktail table (leather and Wood), along with a sofa, love seat, and rug approximately $3,000 total. Around a year and a half the leather on the cocktail table started to crack and peel, having only ever used a damp cloth to clean. I have a Natuzzi leather chair in the same room which I have had for at least 10 years and it has never cracked and peeled. I reported this to my Bassett Repair guy and Bassett Customer Service, sending images of the quality problem. Bassett's reply was "there is only a one year warranty on our furniture. There is nothing we can do!"

It is obvious that Bassett is not concerned with their quality control. I also have to report on the quality of my sofas. Both sofa cushions went flat after a year. Bassett did replace the cushions for both sofa and love seat, but what does this say about the quality? It appears I will need to replace the sofas after only 2 years? Overall Bassett quality is extremely questionable. I will not be visiting or recommending my local showroom in Montgomeryville, PA anytime soon! I do have to say though that my repair man was excellent..... Very helpful.

November 2, 2014, we ordered a sectional, using 1 of 2 fabrics available as options, nothing more "custom" than that. In addition, we ordered an accent chair. We were given an "estimated" date of arrival of Dec. 18th. That date came & went, only to find after making a phone call to the store that the sectional arrived in the warehouse with 1/2 of it damaged, and it had to be remade.

Three weeks more pass, and we request the chair be delivered, assuming IT was in perfect. One week later the chair arrives with huge black grease stains on the back and arm. To date, no word on the sectional's delivery date, but, Bassett actually thinks that we will accept a piece of furniture that is treated with solvent to clean a brand new piece of furniture that THEY damaged. Needless to say, the saga continues as we await for the store manager to consult with his regional manager as to how they are going to compensate us for this huge inconvenience. I just wish I had checked reviews about Bassett Furniture before making this purchase.

They definitely over-promise, and under-deliver on timelines. We purchased a bedroom set that is "stocked", and should be available within 2 weeks. Our sales guy told us upfront that their delivery time frame is within 30 days on everything (including custom ordered). Since we did not do anything custom, and it's one of their everyday sets it should already be on hand at the warehouse, and we should see it well within the 30 days. For the past 2 weeks, we've been told they are only waiting on the headboard to come in, and it should be there shortly. The update we received today (1/16) is that everything should be in their store by 1/26 (43 days after purchase), and then they can schedule a delivery time later that week.

From their website: "Today, Bassett has taken its craftsmanship and built a new reputation of quality custom furniture that can be made and delivered in 30 days or less." I'll update this review once we actually receive our order, hopefully increasing the rating by a great quality product. But waiting nearly 2 months for furniture (supposedly not coming from China) has definitely ruined my experience!

I received my dining room set 14 months ago. It had taken me months to decide on a table and chair set because I really didn't want to spend $4,000 for a dining room set. However, after looking around we decided to spend the money so we had a "quality" set that would last us the rest of our lifetime since we are senior citizens. Upon receiving our set the delivery man noticed that the leaves to our table were damaged. We had selected their "special" hard finish and yet on the edges of the leaves it had areas of white film where it was not sealed properly. This should have given me a warning but the guy immediately said, "We'll reorder this as soon as we get back." So they took my table and leaves back so that the top would all match.

Now I waited for a month and had no contact from Bassett. I finally called to customer service at the store who informed me they would look into it and get back with me. So I waited some more. No phone calls and I again had to follow up. Now I'm told that they never received the complaint and therefore the table was not reordered and we had waited too long. Well, we had no table so they finally reordered our table and leaves after a couple of months. Finally the table top and leaves arrived and all looked fine. So I thought our problems with Bassett were over.

Within the first couple of months I noticed a mark on one of the chair backs. Then I saw another and realized that this was whenever the chair bumped the table it left a dent and the finish would chip off. I admit that I should have called right away. However, due to health problems and work, I did not get called in to Bassett until after my first year was up. Of course, they want to look at my date of purchase and first delivery instead of the delivery date when I really got my set.

They informed me that this was normal wear and tear. I have owned several wooden table and chair sets and never have had them mark up like this where the finish chipped off. The store customer service told me it was beyond warranty, it's normal usage and therefore there was nothing they would do about it. Basically saying too bad for you. She said we don't have these complaints from others. If others aren't complaining about it, then is this really normal wear and tear as I would think others would complain too. I didn't spend $4000 to have a crumby looking dining room set.

I called Bassett customer service for the company and not the store where I bought it from. They were pleasant but held the same line that this is not a defect in our line. It's what you expect when a chair touches a table. My mom had a wooden dining set for 30+ years and the chairs looked better than mine after just 14 months. As kids we paid no attention to where we pushed our chairs when sliding them under the table. Instead I have to warn my guests, "Don't push your chair under the table." It's very embarrassing to have such a low quality product that costs so much and looks dented and warn. On top of the denting, there are a couple of chairs that have the finish rubbing off just from a person sitting in the chair. I don't call this "quality" finish.

Bassett's solution is to send me a touch-up pen. They finally said I could send them pictures they would submit to the next level. I am so disappointed in Bassett. They talk "quality" and so that's what you expect. But that's not what you get. They apparently made these chairs from a soft wood that can't take a simple touch to the table. Even my cheap Walmart bar stools have held up better than Bassett. Maybe next time I'll just buy Walmart. It's cheaper and holds up better. I certainly will not buy Bassett again. They don't stand behind their product. They say "quality" but they don't really mean it, and your money is wasted for what you really get.

One year ago I purchased $10000 worth of furniture from Bassett with the assistance of one of their home consultants from their Plano, Texas store (now out of business). After less than six months I noticed the fabric on the couch was pilling, stretching and in places the fabric looked fuzzy. Knowing the Plano store was closed I went to another location at Midway and LBJ in Dallas and inquired about the faulty fabric used on my customized sofa. The representative at the store told me she would have a store manager get back to me. About a week later someone left a message on my phone and said there was nothing that could be done for me. I was told to get a fuzz buster at Walmart, vacuum and rotate my cushions.

I purchased my furniture from Bassett because they offered a home consultant, who is a joke, and because I believed they offered a quality product that they stood behind. None of these things are true. Well guess what? I found my long lost consultant that sold me this crappy product. She sent me a holiday greeting card and enclosed her business card. She still works for Bassett at a new location on McKinney Ave in Dallas. I knew she could help me. When I emailed her with my concerns and pictures, she said she would talk with her store manager to see if something could be done to help. Another email followed to say, this fabric is like a mohair sweater and pills. I should purchase a fabric shaver from Bed Bath and Beyond, don't vacuum with a rotary attachment and rotate cushions often. I will never purchase anything from them ever again and if you chose to do business with them good luck and don't expect to be treated like a valued customer once they have your money!!! My husband and I purchased a sofa and two overstuffed chairs from Bassett Furniture in Ontario, California. When they arrived one chair had a dirty spot on it and the other had flaws in the fabric. A corner on one of the pillows on the back of the sofa is rounded (the piping that is) and others are square. The pillows also have inadequate stuffing in them making them droop and not look like the ones we saw displayed in the store. Does this company even have a Quality Control Department?? How could these things not have been noticed? The skirts panels on both the sofa and chairs were uneven. Bassett sent a technician to our home to clean the spot on the chair and he said it could not be cleaned. The person we need to talk to regarding these things is always "off today", and no one else is capable of handling the problem.

I requested new furniture and was told NO. Silly me for paying for the product before it was delivered but it was required. I thought I was dealing with a reputable company but now know they are not. Now my furniture will be picked up to be repaired by their "expert technicians" in the area. My home is less than 30 minutes from the city where they say the work is to be done. The truck is not "in the area" until 11/21 and it will take at least two weeks to get the furniture back into my home. I have to be without furniture for either on Thanksgiving or Christmas. My hands are tied because they have my money. I will never do business with them again and consider them inept and dishonest. The product displayed in the store is NOT what we received at home.

This review is a warning to anyone who buys Bassett Furniture. I have had a dispute with them on a purchase since day one of delivery. I ordered a custom piece of upholstered furniture. The quality and craftsmanship of the delivered piece was well under anything they have in their showroom. They told me it was because of the fabric I chose and took no responsibility. Their Design Expert, whom I worked closely with, never informed me that this fabric would behave in any other manner than what was displayed in their showroom. After delivery, they cited the fabric and acted as if it was my problem for choosing it. They offered no resolution except for me to repurchase the ottoman with a different fabric. I have reported them to BBB for their bait and switch tactics but since Bassett is unwilling to do anything, there is not much more I can do but warn others.

I had to leave for Fla and told them that I would be there waiting for the call. In a furniture store in Sarasota, a salesman told me good luck on receiving my order. I called Cincinnati and was assured that my furniture would arrive just fine and I had nothing to be concerned about. I received a call from the district manager a little later that day which I missed. I returned her call and left message. Never heard from her. Then the Cincinnati store manager called and explained that my furniture had been shipped to Louisville, Ky warehouse in error and that it was being shipped to Fla and I was priority.

I explained that I had to leave the following week and it had to be here within 7 days. They said that they would stay in contact with me and assured me I was priority. On the day I anticipated hearing from the Fla warehouse, I called Cincinnati AGAIN. I was told they would check and call me back. Heard nothing. Called back following day and got more BS!!!! Called DM and was told that the Cincinnati mgr assured her that they were handling everything. She told me at 5pm that she would call warehouse and find out what was going on. I told her she would not get any info because they close at 4 pm. She said she would check with Cincinnati and call me back.

She called me and left a message to call her. I did within 3 min and she did not know anything and promised an answer the first thing in the morning. I told her if she planned to reach the warehouse that as I recalled from previous contacts and instruction from Cincinnati that the warehouse is closed on Friday and Monday. I am supposed to be back in Cincinnati before Sunday, the 12th. I would certainly think that a district manager would know warehouse schedules and would not need to be informed by consumer about this type of information.

Does anyone in this company know what is going on? They all certainly know how to blame someone else and give you the job of taking care of your purchase. I have never been more disappointed by such nice, friendly people that are totally uninterested in taking responsibility for the sale they were so happy to help you with. Tomorrow it will be interesting to see what "time the district manager's feet hit the floor". Will post the outcome.

Milestone day for me. First complaint I've ever posted online. Bought two rugs, a recommendation from their designer who came to my home. Paid over $5k for both. I was unhappy from the start, tried to return them and they will not take them back. Called store manager, Mark. He was very rude, unprofessional, extremely argumentative, interrupted me through entire conversation (raising his voice) and twisted the facts. I will never do business here again. This company should not be allowed to sell anything!

If you lean them back they don't stay. Not my idea of a recliner. Now for the BIG problem, the couch. After about 5 yrs the couch has become so uncomfortable I can hardly sit on it. It has lost it's fullness. I expect that to happen over years but in 5, really?? It is so bad I have to put a pillow under one of the cushions, but that doesn't help anymore. It is so painful my back becomes sore. For the price I paid for it I would expect to get more like 10yrs before it becomes uncomfortable. Never will I buy their product again.

I have been refinishing and repairing furniture for many years as a family tradition and have never seen something I could not retouch and cover the scratches. I am very disappointed in this product. The minor chip on the edge can't even be filled or covered up with anything. It just comes right off. They seem to have used a wax type coating that does not take anything over it or allow anything to be stained.

The dining room set so far has not had the same problem but even with that I was disappointed when they had delivered the items and I found they were made overseas and they charged so much. Had I known I would not had purchased them. I could not recommend or justify the purchase of these products for the price and so far the performance. I have not tried to contact the company but from what I read it would not prove to be of any good.

I removed the cushions to see what was happened, big rings of some type of liquid was showing. Ask Bassett about it. They did not come to see and said they never heard of such a story. Now, they want to charge me $70 for a visit. Then I asked an upholstery cleaner to come look at it. They said it was the glue and that it will not come off after cleaning. She paid 1/3 down on a HGTV sofa at Bassett Furniture on Highway 59 on July 4, 2013 in good faith and was promised a delivery date of 5 weeks later. Their advertising states 30 days. She received a call after 5 weeks indicating the special ordered pillow fabric was on backorder and this would delay everything an additional week. She gave away her sofa in the middle of the 5th week anticipating delivery of the new sofa. We expected to receive the sofa no later than 6 weeks. On Aug. 30, I contacted Bassett who indicated the original salesperson left and there was a computer glitch and it was delayed further.

I asked why we were not contacted; no one could explain and I requested to speak to a manager. I was told she was off and would contact me or my mother on Saturday. No return call. My mother finally reached Karen ** (not sure her role) who advised she would give her the pillows free of charge once the sofa came in and would call her to advise its date of delivery. Fast forward to October 1, my mother still has not been contacted and she called Bassett again who advised it will be delivered on Oct. 20. My mother advised Karen this is unacceptable as she has no sofa in her den while they continue to hold her downpayment. My mother asked me to contact them on her behalf.

I call again on a Friday, Oct. 4 - no manager on duty and was advised Karen ** or Stephanie ** would call me back this morning. Stephanie refuses to call me as I am not the purchaser; and offered her 300.00 discount and free delivery, but now admits it is not shipping out until Oct. 20 and cannot provide an actual delivery date. There are numerous calls that have gone unanswered and no one at Bassett seems to care. I did copy their Corporate Headquarters as they did not seem concerned to allow me to assist my mom with this purchase, only the resolution of this purchase.

On May 4, 2013, after 3 separate visits to the Bassett Store in Kennesaw, GA, we decided not on custom pieces but to go to their next line down as the salesperson said the only difference is we would not get to choose different arms and cushion firmness and back cushion styles but the framework and makeup of the couch and love seat were the same along with wrapped cushions. Our furniture was delivered on or about May 28th and after barely 2 months, the entire couch sinks and the cushions are not holding up... They had an independent person come by along with the store manager to both say something is wrong with the couch. We returned to the store once again to view the spring and cushion that the salesperson said we would get as our cushions were not wrapped as she had stated.

After speaking with the manager in front of the half open chair that shows what we were told we were to get, she said they were going to send the independent person out again to see if something was wrong with the springs. They had agreed that firmer cushions may help along with agreeing to wrap the cushions... as if this is something extra even though we were told and directed by their salesperson to go over and view their construction of what would be in our 2 pieces. The independent person (same guy) came out this past Tues., removed the cover and showed my husband that the springs we were shown were not what was in our 2 pieces.

I spoke to the store manager yesterday and she informed me (this is the first we had heard this) that the line we got has different springs and I asked why this was never in 3 times at the store disclosed to us. She said they can't carry everything and I said, "Okay, but WHY did no one at this point tell us this about different springs?" She had no reason except to say they try to cover everything... She said she spoke with the GM and he was only willing to remake the sofa with the same springs and give us firmer cushions with no guarantee if this would work. I said we wanted a refund. She said they can't do that and I said all of their literature and online stuff shows exactly what we were told we were to get and nothing else has been shown to us to be different. I asked that the GM call me and I will give them until Monday and then I will not settle for this... I will stalk the store and file in small claims court for misrepresentation... and let a judge decide who is telling the truth... BUYERS BEWARE. THEY ARE NOT HONEST...

I contacted Bassett and not only was the salesperson (customer care?) not nice, not helpful, but she was downright snotty! Hate to use such a terrible word but I can't think of any other way to describe her. Eventually she told me that the line had been discontinued in 2008 and there was no stock. No stock where? Anywhere in the world? She sent me to a handle/knob distributor and the salesperson there was equally miserable. Don't they realize that it may be only one knob right now, but it may be a whole suite of furniture in the future? Anyhow, they couldn't help me either... and were not nice about it. Obviously I will have to replace all the knobs on the china cabinet and hutch and that will come to a nice sum. Fortunately, the mover will have to pay. I really tried to get a replacement for the one knob, but Bassett made that impossible.

I recently moved to a loft that has 8' tall windows that get a lot of sun in the morning. The leather on my couch has been destroyed even though I routinely put leather conditioner on the couch. The leather has severely peeled away. At this point, it may be cheaper just to buy another couch. This was a $6500.00 sectional. I will never buy from there again. I had the sensation of being "pushed" out of the sofa, just as Helen mentioned. When I tried to return it, I was told there was nothing they could do, and that they had a contract. I told them I was contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge. They got very nasty and told me that if I wanted different cushions, they would "participate" but I would have to pay the majority. I told them after paying more than $2,000 for a sofa, I wasn't paying another dime.

I did dispute the charge and fortunately, had a computer printout image of what I had ordered and the back cushions were different than what I had ordered. They said they would come and pick up the sofa, but I would have to pay for the delivery charge of $150.00. I said, "No way" and they finally came and reversed all charges. I feel fortunate that I have some legal training that allowed me to confidently stand firm. This company needs to do a major overhaul on their quality control and customer service. These pieces also came with a "Lifetime warranty" for the frames. After about 12 years of extremely light use, the sofa frame completely broke when I sat on it. I'm a 125 lb. female. The cleaner they gave us if anything has made the couch look worse. We have a living room full of expensive and beautiful furniture, and a couch that is an absolute embarrassment. I am quite sure we could have gone to a discount store and gotten a better product. As an additional kick to the groin, we are told that since we used the cleaner that they provided, the warranty we purchased is null and void. I purchased two large down sofas, for over $3500.00. The following comments should be noted: After hours of design and ordering, signing the design printout to confirm, they brought the wrong furniture. It was small where I had paid for large, three cushions where I had ordered. Sofa was not only wrong, but terrible terrible quality. It had poor seams, uneven cushions that do not fit together where they meet. I wanted a super comfortable sofa, so upgraded to down. They wrapped cheap foam cushions with thin white fabric and stuffed large feathers with long quills in the covers for the bottom cushions.

For the top cushions, they filled a thin white bag with the same terrible feathers. What does this mean? The sofas are terrible when you sit down, the feathers stick through fabric like you are sitting on pins and needles. It's not just one occasional feather; it's all the time over 70% of the soft area. Feathers are all over the house, coming out of cushions and accent pillows.

After one year of use by just my husband and me, the sofa looks worn and cushions have no shape or support. Round webbing that defines the pillow is pulled and wrinkled, cushions do not fit together as a set but must be forced together to fit. I bought top-of-the-line products, upgraded fabric, upgraded foam and upgraded to down. This is just low quality, poorly-made furniture. There is no way that down is supposed to be 3 to 4 inch feathers that stick everyone who sits down on them. I would not recommend this furniture to anyone.

I gave them my Order Number and it took another 3 days for them to call back. Really?! In today's technology, it takes 3 days to check an order? Then I was told that it has been too long since I requested a refund. Wait a second! I called in a reasonable time and their delay tactics now put me back 10 days. Wow! That was a great line for customer service for you... Wait a second, if there is a no cancellation policy then why is there a restocking fee? To top it off, they told me to read the Cancellation Policy which was included in my bill, but only available after the purchase. My wife and I went to Bassett to buy a few pieces of furniture, but honestly didn't feel comfortable with the sales. They seemed to have a bit of an attitude, which for me is something that a salesperson shouldn't have. Anyway, I ordered a few items from Bassett: a couch, coffee table and a queen size bed. At first, they told me that it would take 2 weeks for things to be delivered; however, they must tell people that it would take a month. Well, a month almost passed by and I didn't get the couch. I went to the store to inquire! They checked and said, "Oh sorry... it looks like your delivery will take another month because we were out of material!" That meant 2 months for me without having a couch. It also meant that I had to cancel a small get-together that I had planned!

The manager (Deb **) told me that she was going to give me 15% off of the price of the couch as an apology. I said ok! I called her within a couple of days and told her that I had received the coffee table, but that it had a small fracture in one of the legs. I told her that I was going to take a picture of the fracture and email it to her. She said that that was fine and if needed, she would want to stop by and take a look herself! Interesting... but I said, "Ok... sure!" I emailed her the pictures and she didn't get back to me. I waited a couple a few days and emailed her again and asked her about the outcome of the pictures and she still didn't respond. I called the next day and she told me that she didn't get the pictures (!) although I had not received a "failed email" or anything like that.

I was furious so I emailed Bassett's customer service (at least twice) before they got back to me. Their General Manager (Steve **) got back to me and listened to my complaint. He apologized and he told me that the sales consultant was supposed to call me on weekly basis and give me updates about the status of the delivery. He told me that the manager should have replaced my coffee table completely without even having to look at it. He concluded by apologizing again and by telling me that he was going to replace my coffee table, confirm the delivery date of the coffee table (which he did and turned out not to be true) and give me an open offer that (I would name) for how they can make it up to me. Furthermore, he was going to assign the best sales consultant he had so she'd help me with picking up something else in the future. I thanked him and I told him that I was considering buying a few items, so he said that he was going to get the sales consultant contact me (which took a few days)...

When the sales consultant called me (after I had to call Steve and remind him that she didn't call), she told me that she was told to help me with designs and matching things! Of course that's not what Steve told me at all, but I explained to her that I wanted to buy a few things and that we were to agree on the discount. It turned out that to make up for my bad experience with Bassett, they wanted to give me the sale price (30%) on the items I wanted! I ended up e-mailing the sales consultant and telling her that I just wanted to confirm that they will deliver my couch on the date Steve had told me about and that they were going to replace my couch and give me the 15% the manager had told me about. I emailed twice and I didn't hear back from her, so I called her. She was surprised that no one got back to me because she had forwarded my email to him. I waited a day and I sent Steve a text message, but he didn't respond. Then I called him by the end of the business day and he didn't respond.

I called the store and they told me that they contacted him and asked him to contact me and that he told them that he was going to contact me the next day, but he didn't. The next day, I emailed their customer service, and I called them and both told me that Steve was going to call me back, but again, he didn't! The delivery date is supposed to be tomorrow and I'm not surprised at all that the couch will not be delivered! Unfortunately, I feel that there is a sense of discrimination in what's happening based on religion! I have not experienced such a treatment from any stores, even ones that are better or smaller than Bassett!

Three years ago, we purchased a "leather" sofa and two recliners from Basset Furniture in Austin, Texas. This was only part of a larger purchase. We also purchased the Guardian Warranty. The "leather" has a top layer that is peeling off the surface. With normal use, these chairs and couch are unsightly and were very pricey. We've not been pleased with the customer service and runaround to date. We'd love to resolve this with the local Basset store where we spent our money but have been redirected to a person in North Carolina who never answers the phone and is slow to return messages. A leather repairman was sent to look on behalf of either Guardian or Basset but we were told that this is not repairable.

After reading reviews here and elsewhere, it is obvious that this is not an isolated case of substandard materials and fraudulent business practices by Basset and Guardian. We want resolution whether through replacement or refund. Our advice is to not buy the John Elway branded furniture at Basset. Basset provided amazing service during the sale but has not delivered after the sale.

I have made 3 purchases from Bassett over the years, a desk and credenza for my study, a wall unit for my living room and a sofa. The computer drawer on the desk fell apart, but I blamed my family and just let it go. The moldings on the $4,000 wall unit disbonded after a few years; I just let it go and repaired it myself. But today, I found that my $2,000 sofa is falling apart after 2 years and 1 month. I called them and they told me I was out of luck as I didn't buy a furniture warranty. I didn't buy one because I know how to treat my things, and I should not have to warranty their crappy furniture against their poor quality.

Shame on me, I should have learned the first time or the second time. But believe me, I have learned this time. They gave me the name of a person that does repair work for them. He told me he really does it mostly on the side, but he was in construction work and sort of busy; but he could help me, maybe. What? This is your bonded customer service department? Bottom line, shoddy furniture, worse customer service, and a lesson learned. I will never go to Bassett again. I can't afford it!

I bought a Bassett Newbury Loveseat and Sofa from Bassett because I thought they would be really good longlasting pieces of furniture. When the furniture arrived, the Bassett delivery man commented on how easily the leather scratches on these sofas. He was right. Within a week of normal use, there were several noticeable scratches in the leather color. I called Bassett back to share my concern and desire to return the sofas because they were not going to last. I was told there would be a 40% restocking fee if they would even accept them back. Bassett sent a leather expert look at the sofas and they determined there was nothing wrong with them.

After that, the manager of the Raleigh Bassett store refused to accept them as a return. I also emailed Bassett's corporate offices directly and they never bothered to even respond to me. We had a leather sofa and loveseat from Rooms to Go in the same room for 15 years prior to the Bassett sofa and loveseat and the cheaper pieces from Rooms to Go never scratched in 15 years. The Newbury sofas from Bassett are garbage and so is their customer service. I will never shop there again and you should not either unless you don't mind getting sold a pile of junk that they won't even consider accepting as a return.

I recently purchased around $3,500 worth of items from Bassett. Luckily, from what I'm reading in the reviews about quality, I'm thankful my purchases are located in a formal living room and will get virtually no wear and tear. I am very upset about the price of the area rug I purchased. I paid $669 for a 5x8 area rug and found after my order that I could have purchased the exact same rug from Home Depot for $299. The 8x11 could have been bought for $639.

My husband has the attitude of live and learn. I have written this simply as a heads up to those who, like me, get caught up believing that an exclusive store such as Bassett, Ethan Allen, or others who would advertise themselves as having that "personal" touch may simply charge exorbitant prices for what we could do on our own. Next time I decide to redo any room, I will shop these stores for ideas and then check online companies, local shops, big box stores, and any other places for similar but less expensive products.

In early February of 2012, I was working with Bassett's Wool Rug sales rep and Interior Designer (Tukwilla, WA) to identify appropriate colors to match current living space. We looked at the stock items at store and then traveled down to one of their rug suppliers. I identified 4 wool rugs (2 needed to be made) and agreed to pay deposit charges on all 4 with pads. I was given a 6 to 8 delivery time on the 2 rugs that needed to be made. To try and make a long story shorter, after multiple calls and stops into the store to communicate my frustrations and disappointment to the sales team, designer, manager and owner, I continued to get nothing but empty promises. During this process, being a glutton for punishment, I ordered a number of tables, another rug and a painting. This was another strain to perform as you would think a business should, as I had billing issues (They wanted more money than they invoiced.) as well as delivery issues and after taking my money then informing me multiple items weren't available or have extended deliveries.

In September (yes, 8 months later), I was told (for the 5th time) that the rugs were in Seattle and going through customs. The day of delivery, they showed up will all the rugs but had not pre-cut any of the pads (Manager had told his team to have done this, allegedly!). And they had not size in thickness another correctly. The next day, I had to have them come back out and cut the pads. To add to this insanity, one of the rugs purchased (and highly recommended by design team) is placed in our family room (with a 4 year old) and it sheds more and more each day (now 6 weeks old). Its small fibers make it onto counters and food even if I vacuum or sweep it daily. To try to end this during the entire process, there were promises made that have yet to be delivered. I will never walk into a Bassett Furniture.

I purchased a walnut leather recliner sectional, model numbers 394823MW, 394821MW, and 394838W from Bassett Furniture. One of the recliners is stuck in the reclined position. My warranty is one year on labor and five years on parts. I called Bassett's customer care and was informed that they could not replace my damaged mechanism and they do not have any compatible parts because the manufacturer, Franklin, is no longer their customer. I am their customer and I need my sofa repaired and my warranty honored!

I bought a couch from Bassett a few years ago and within 3 months, the seams started busting apart. Since it was fabric, I decided to mend it myself, vowing not to go back. Well less than a year ago, I saw what I thought was the perfect counter height table and chairs for my kitchen. Forgetting my former pledge, I bought them. The quality was not as good as in the showroom. The finish on one of the chairs was messed and they didn't seem as sturdy, but I was okay with that. After all, it's just the two of us now and we would not be using it every day, just for the occasional breakfast.

Within a week or two, the little plastic feet that are on the bottom of the chairs one by one started breaking off. We thought we'd just glue them. But after finding a half dozen on the floor, we called the company. They told us we had so submit paperwork to yet another company, then wait for it to come back, so we could mail it back to them for approval. They rejected it. "Sorry we can't help you." My advice, skip Bassett. The quality that is on the showroom is not what you receive. The promised warranty was nonexistent.

I contacted Bassett for repair of an office chair (wheeled) in early July 2012. I personally brought the chair to the store. It was duly noted at the store. They said they'd contact repair and send someone out. The person showed up about 8 weeks (and several phone calls) later. He ordered the needed part. He came back about 3 weeks later. He broke one of the wheels while “repairing” the part. That was 3 weeks ago. After 14-15 weeks, the chair is still not repaired. I have logged countless phone calls to Bassett. This is the second chair that broke. The first was a recliner. That was about 5 years ago and they showed up promptly. Something has changed. I feel as though Bassett just does not care.

Do not buy a leather love seat from Basset. Two years ago, my wife and I purchased a leather loveseat from our local Basset dealer, which is now out of business. The quality of the sofa was terrible. The front face of the two seat cushions isn't actually made of leather. It appears to be some sort of synthetic leather material with a fabric base. The front of this fabric has peeled off almost completely and the entire sofa is ruined and unusable. Even the real leather portions of the sofa are cheap, easily scratched and stained. My wife and I would never purchase anything from Basset again and we strongly caution any other potential consumers to stay away from this brand.

Last year we ordered a bedroom set. We were told 30 days but it took 4 months to get all the pieces. When the last ones came, one of them was not even what we ordered - it was totally a different piece. We were told we could return it for a hefty restocking fee, even though we ordered a totally different piece. By now, the piece we wanted was already discontinued and no longer available. We love the set but hate the hassle.

Now comes part two. We need a new couch so we went on Google and looked for couches. Guess what comes up, the one we love, and it is from Bassett. We bite our lip and check it out. It shows on the Web site that it starts at $1,500. Okay, I checked out almost all the fabric choices for this couch, and we chose about five that we want to look at when we go in. When we got there, we found out that the one that is $1,500 is a special buy and it only comes in one color. I asked to see the first of the other fabrics we chose. Sorry it is discontinued - same answer for #2, #3, #4 and #5, but what they can offer is one that is two levels of fabric higher.

The final cost is $1,000 more than the one we liked. I was upset, but my wife loved it. We gave them information and said that I would call back on the next day and order it. I looked on the Internet and found this site. I called customer service about the discontinued fabrics and the "bait and switch" as I called it. In so many words, I was told I was just too stupid to understand plain English. I told her I understood very well as I am a salesman and understand plain English and two other languages as well.

She went off on me, so I just hung up. I called the store manager the next day and tried to quash my fears and asked him what he would do to back me up if I had some of the problems that I had read about. He told me I had no worries, and then I told him about all the price differences, discontinued fabric and much higher price. He said, "If you would just stop talking for a minute, I might be able to answer you." I told him I was just trying to clarify what I was worried about and he said, "Just stop talking so I can finish." I shut up, let him talk and then he finished. I didn't say anything. He asked me if he answered my question. I responded yes, he did. I now know that I won't spend another dollar in Bassett again. He then hung up on me. I will never go into that store again. Never again will I buy from them. The customer is never right - we are just stupid for giving them our money in the first place and they let you know it.

Four years after purchasing a Hudson leather sofa and a Hudson leather recliner at Bassett Furniture Direct, Jacksonville, Florida, the leather started to peel off. Both were from the Bassett John Elway Home Collection. I purchased a Guardsman Elite Furniture Protection Plan on both pieces, but they refused to replace the furniture. I was told by the salesperson that I was purchasing "top-of-the-line" leather furniture. That's a joke! I'm surprised that Bassett is able to stay in business selling this kind of junk. Do not purchase anything from Bassett Furniture Direct.
